Latest / Salem Podcast Network / The Erin Molan Show - CHILLING DETAILS: FlyDubai HERO Reveals What REALLY Happened Inside That Cockpit
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: I think it's an amazing. So a plumber never flew
- 0:13Speaker 1: a plane. Strong guy. Lift him up, throw him back.
- 0:16Speaker 2: The crowd was was they knew they were going to
- 0:20Speaker 2: die shortly because the G-forces, but they were.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Able to hold him because he was going crazy and
- 0:26Speaker 1: he was crazy. And this plumber, never having flown a plane,
- 0:31Speaker 1: had the sense to lift a stick.
- 0:33Speaker 3: Who would have?
- 0:34Speaker 1: And, you know, it's not like planes are different today.
- 0:36Speaker 1: You used to have a little steering wheel.
- 0:39Speaker 4: Today, they fly differently.
- 0:42Speaker 2: And when I asked why he did that, he said
- 0:44Speaker 2: he watches that show, Air Disasters. You know the show?
- 0:48Speaker 2: It's that crazy show. I never want to watch it
- 0:50Speaker 2: because I watch it. I don't like watching it because
- 0:53Speaker 2: bad things happen. But he said he watches it a lot.
- 0:57Speaker 2: And he learned from watching that show sort of how
- 1:03Speaker 2: to fly. I mean, you tell me. This is the
- 1:05Speaker 2: craziest thing. And then shortly thereafter, the pilots, you know,
- 1:10Speaker 2: were there in case they have emergency pilots on these planes,
- 1:15Speaker 2: and the security guys, they were in the back of
- 1:17Speaker 2: the plane.
- 1:18Speaker 4: They came up.
- 1:19Speaker 1: They took over the plane. I think it's the most
- 1:22Speaker 1: amazing story. I think it's the most amazing story. Jeff,
- 1:26Speaker 1: that's true. And he happened to be a Jewish plumber.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Jeff is very proud of him.
- 1:32Speaker 1: He was a Jewish.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Plumber, Jeff.
- 1:35Speaker 5: Ladies and gentlemen, not all heroes wear capes. Some, in fact,
- 1:40Speaker 5: carry wrenches. Yaniv Hayun, the man who saved not only
- 1:45Speaker 5: 180 lives in the air, but countless on the ground.
- 1:51Speaker 4: Not to mention.
- 1:53Speaker 5: everyone else who would have been affected had the unthinkable
- 1:57Speaker 5: occurred on that fly Dubai flight. He's an absolute legend.
- 2:02Speaker 5: He's a hero. And it gives me so much joy
- 2:05Speaker 5: to bring him to you. Yaniv, thank you so, so
- 2:10Speaker 5: much for joining us. It's such an honor to have
- 2:12Speaker 5: you on. And it was so lovely to meet you
- 2:15Speaker 5: in person in Israel over the last week or so.
- 2:18Speaker 5: You're better in real life, let me tell you, but
- 2:20Speaker 5: still pretty good down the screen. I want you to
- 2:23Speaker 5: start by taking me through everything that happened from the
- 2:28Speaker 5: moment that you knew something was wrong to the moment
- 2:33Speaker 5: you landed back in Israel.
- 2:36Speaker 4: Arim shalom. Erin, hello.
- 2:39Speaker 3: First of all, I want to thank you for choosing
- 2:41Speaker 3: to interview me on your show. And I want to
- 2:44Speaker 3: tell you about the sequence of events that happened on
- 2:46Speaker 3: the fly Dubai flight from Dubai to Israel. So we
- 2:49Speaker 3: boarded a connecting flight from Dubai to Israel, me, my
- 2:52Speaker 3: wife and my two daughters.
- 2:54Speaker 4: During the flight, after about two hours.
- 2:56Speaker 3: Someone screamed from the front of the plane that there
- 2:59Speaker 3: were stabbings. At that moment, I was sitting in row 11,
- 3:02Speaker 3: seat D, and I immediately got up. At that moment,
- 3:05Speaker 3: I didn't know where the stabbings were happening, what was
- 3:08Speaker 3: going on or where it was happening. I thought maybe
- 3:10Speaker 3: it was among the flight attendants or something. I didn't
- 3:13Speaker 3: understand where it was happening. But right at that second,
- 3:16Speaker 3: the lights on the plane went out and the plane
- 3:19Speaker 3: tilted sharply to the left and then straightened out very sharply.
- 3:24Speaker 3: And at that moment, I connected the screams about the
- 3:26Speaker 3: stabbings with the behavior of the plane, somehow the maneuvering
- 3:30Speaker 3: of the plane. And I realized that the distress was
- 3:34Speaker 3: in the cockpit. I immediately shouted to my wife and
- 3:37Speaker 3: daughters to fasten their seatbelts and ran toward the cockpit.
- 3:41Speaker 3: At some point, just before I reached the cockpit, the
- 3:43Speaker 3: plane took a very steep dive. And I was thrown,
- 3:47Speaker 3: I remember it was to the right side, and I
- 3:49Speaker 3: couldn't get up as long as we were in the dive.
- 3:51Speaker 3: I couldn't get up and in those seconds I thought
- 3:53Speaker 3: we were going to die, to crash. A thought crossed
- 3:56Speaker 3: my mind, why am I not giving my wife and
- 3:58Speaker 3: daughters one last hug at some point? I don't know
- 4:01Speaker 3: exactly why, but apparently the plane stabilized because I managed
- 4:04Speaker 3: to get up and immediately approached the cockpit door. there
- 4:07Speaker 3: a crew member in a white shirt and uniform who
- 4:10Speaker 3: looked like part of the crew was standing he was
- 4:13Speaker 3: holding the handle he didn't resist as i pushed the
- 4:16Speaker 3: door inward he didn't resist and the door had a
- 4:18Speaker 3: bit of difficulty opening because the legs of the heroic
- 4:21Speaker 3: indian pilot mr smith were blocking the door from opening
- 4:25Speaker 3: inward he was lying behind the door when we entered
- 4:27Speaker 3: we saw him on the floor The entire cockpit was
- 4:30Speaker 3: covered in blood and the terrorist was on his knees
- 4:32Speaker 3: on the instruments between the two pilot seats. There are
- 4:35Speaker 3: two pilot seats and in the middle there are instruments.
- 4:38Speaker 4: He was on his knees on the instruments.
- 4:40Speaker 3: I grabbed him by the throat with my hands, choking
- 4:43Speaker 3: him and pulled him backward while simultaneously shouting for help.
- 4:46Speaker 3: Someone help me. Someone who was behind me. I believe
- 4:49Speaker 3: it was the pilot. He also helped me pull him.
- 4:52Speaker 3: When I got to the door, there were already Israeli
- 4:54Speaker 3: guys there, Tzvika, Asaf, or Dr. Shota, and we neutralized
- 4:57Speaker 3: the terrorist. At that moment, when we neutralized the terrorist
- 5:01Speaker 3: and he was already in the hands of the Israeli guys,
- 5:03Speaker 3: I went back into the cockpit. As I stood there,
- 5:05Speaker 3: I could see the ground from above. It looked like
- 5:07Speaker 3: the plane wasn't diving, but it was at a negative
- 5:10Speaker 3: angle toward the ground. I grabbed the control sticks and
- 5:12Speaker 3: pulled them toward me. At that moment, the pilot came in.
- 5:16Speaker 3: It was just for a few seconds. At that moment,
- 5:19Speaker 3: the replacement pilot came in. I didn't mention at the
- 5:22Speaker 3: beginning of my story that there were two other pilots
- 5:24Speaker 3: on the plane who were sitting with us in.
- 5:26Speaker 4: The regular cabin.
- 5:28Speaker 3: I don't know why they were there, but they were
- 5:30Speaker 3: there and they were in pilot uniforms. So at that moment,
- 5:33Speaker 3: one of them came in and told me that from
- 5:36Speaker 3: here he would handle the plane.
- 5:38Speaker 4: He told me to let go. And I did.
- 5:40Speaker 3: He sat down, put on the headphones and started handling
- 5:44Speaker 3: the plane. At that moment, I stood by the door
- 5:47Speaker 3: and another crew member also dressed like a pilot came
- 5:50Speaker 3: and asked to enter. The pilot confirmed to me that
- 5:52Speaker 3: he was okay, that he was part of their crew.
- 5:55Speaker 3: I allowed him to enter. He came in, took out
- 5:58Speaker 3: a tablet and they started communicating. I closed the door
- 6:02Speaker 3: behind me. Inside the cockpit, I saw that they were
- 6:05Speaker 3: actually doing their job because I didn't trust them at
- 6:07Speaker 3: that moment. One of the crew members, during the few
- 6:10Speaker 3: minutes I was there, I saw that they were talking
- 6:12Speaker 3: on the radio and it really seemed like they wanted
- 6:15Speaker 3: to land the plane safely. After a few minutes of
- 6:18Speaker 3: being there with them, there was a very loud noise
- 6:21Speaker 3: outside the door on the plane, banging on the door
- 6:24Speaker 3: and a lot of commotion. I saw through the window
- 6:26Speaker 3: that one of the flight attendants was acting out and
- 6:28Speaker 3: that the Israeli guys were trying to restrain him. So
- 6:32Speaker 3: I shouted to them through the door to calm him down,
- 6:34Speaker 3: to restrain him. It made noise inside the cockpit. And
- 6:37Speaker 3: then the pilot turned to me and asked me for quiet.
- 6:40Speaker 3: He told me that there were already malfunctions on the
- 6:42Speaker 3: plane and that it was hard for him to fly it.
- 6:44Speaker 3: So he asked for quiet and asked me to leave,
- 6:47Speaker 3: to do it from outside.
- 6:48Speaker 4: So I left.
- 6:49Speaker 3: Before I left, he extended his hand to me, thanked me,
- 6:52Speaker 3: shook my hand, and I asked them to lock the
- 6:55Speaker 3: door behind me.
- 6:55Speaker 4: I went outside.
- 6:56Speaker 3: I looked through the peephole first, of course, to make
- 6:59Speaker 3: sure there was no danger right by the door. I
- 7:01Speaker 3: went outside, closed the door behind me, and at that moment,
- 7:04Speaker 3: I grabbed the flight attendant by the shirt and told
- 7:06Speaker 3: him to calm down. I told him that he doesn't
- 7:09Speaker 3: decide what happens here and that he's not entering the cockpit.
- 7:12Speaker 3: We're the ones deciding right now. And I saw Mr. Smith,
- 7:15Speaker 3: the pilot on the right side, Mr. Smith, the hero,
- 7:18Speaker 3: I have to say. He opened the door.
- 7:19Speaker 4: He reached the door with the last of his strength.
- 7:22Speaker 4: He fought.
- 7:23Speaker 3: He fought the terrorist very hard because I saw what
- 7:26Speaker 3: went on inside the cockpit, all that happened there. I
- 7:29Speaker 3: don't want to continue describing it because it was horrific
- 7:32Speaker 3: what happened there.
- 7:34Speaker 5: So microplastics are infiltrating every part of our lives. Scientists
- 7:39Speaker 5: estimate we now consume a credit card's worth of plastic
- 7:42Speaker 5: every single week. That is a mic drop. Through our food,
- 7:47Speaker 5: our water, even the air we breathe. One study found
- 7:50Speaker 5: plastic particles in 100% of human lung samples. It's terrifying.
- 7:56Speaker 5: Nobody is safe from the exposure. And I'm sorry to say,
- 7:59Speaker 5: my friends, it gets worse. These plastics don't just sit
- 8:02Speaker 5: in your body. They cross the gut lining, leach into
- 8:05Speaker 5: your blood and disrupt everything. They've been shown to alter
- 8:09Speaker 5: gut bacteria, suppress your immune response, increase your risk for
- 8:13Speaker 5: neurodegenerative disease, metabolic disorders and cancer. Some plastic toxins like
- 8:19Speaker 5: BPA and plathalates mimic hormones, interfere with fertility and they
- 8:24Speaker 5: damage DNA. So even if you eat clean or you
- 8:27Speaker 5: avoid packaged foods, you are still being exposed. You can't
- 8:32Speaker 5: opt out. But your gut can help you fight back.
- 8:35Speaker 5: Kimchi Won from Brightcore Nutrition is a potent ally in
- 8:39Speaker 5: this toxic world. It's brilliant. I've been taking it for
- 8:42Speaker 5: two months now and I would never bring anything to
- 8:45Speaker 5: you that I didn't truly believe in. It's packed with
- 8:48Speaker 5: over 900 probiotic strains unique to kimchi and proven to
- 8:52Speaker 5: break down BPA, helping you detox from the inside out.
- 8:57Speaker 5: It doesn't just support digestion. It helps protect your cells,
- 9:00Speaker 5: your brain, your hormones, and of course, your future. Your
- 9:04Speaker 5: body was never designed to handle plastic, but your gut
- 9:08Speaker 5: was designed to protect you. You just have to give it,
- 9:12Speaker 5: you know, the right tools. Today, you can get an

- 9:37Speaker 1: And guys, again.
- 9:45Speaker 5: I don't promote anything I don't know works. I've taken
- 9:50Speaker 5: it for two months now. I feel incredible and I've
- 9:53Speaker 5: looked at the research and it is rock solid. Do it.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Bye.
- 9:57Speaker 3: Saying that he fought to get to the door and open. it,
- 10:00Speaker 3: and thanks to him, I'm here to tell the story.
- 10:02Speaker 3: So he was lying on the right side near the cockpit,
- 10:04Speaker 3: outside the cockpit. The terrorist was tied up with his
- 10:08Speaker 3: legs bound behind his back on the left side. In
- 10:11Speaker 3: my opinion, he was already unconscious. He wasn't functioning. And
- 10:15Speaker 3: the whole way Dr. Shota treated him, I made sure
- 10:19Speaker 3: to lift his legs and do everything Dr. Shota asked
- 10:21Speaker 3: me to. Doto, ensure he stayed conscious. Asaf, Tzvika, Orr,
- 10:25Speaker 3: and maybe some other friends, other Israelis who were on
- 10:27Speaker 3: the plane, they also helped and fought the terrorists and
- 10:30Speaker 3: made sure the whole way that no one would surprise
- 10:32Speaker 3: us or attack us because... Honestly, we didn't trust anyone
- 10:36Speaker 3: from the plane's crew. We didn't know where another action
- 10:38Speaker 3: might come from on their part. And we were on
- 10:41Speaker 3: high alert for almost maybe even more than an hour
- 10:44Speaker 3: until the landing in Saudi Arabia. We treated Mr. Smith,
- 10:47Speaker 3: talked to him. I told him in English that he
- 10:50Speaker 3: wasn't going to die today. And the terrorist, the flight
- 10:52Speaker 3: attendants really wanted to help him and were even whispering
- 10:55Speaker 3: in a language we didn't understand. We shouted at them
- 10:58Speaker 3: to speak only in English so we could understand what
- 11:00Speaker 3: they were saying.
- 11:01Speaker 4: They wanted to release him.
- 11:03Speaker 3: And we made it very clear to them that they
- 11:05Speaker 3: couldn't touch him or release him. At some point toward
- 11:08Speaker 3: the end of the flight near the landing, the terrorist
- 11:11Speaker 3: lifted his head and communicated with them a bit. I
- 11:14Speaker 3: didn't exactly understand what they said, but at the end
- 11:17Speaker 3: of the conversation, he asked them to kill him.
- 11:18Speaker 4: He told them in English, kill me.
- 11:20Speaker 3: And near the landing, I grabbed the PA system and
- 11:23Speaker 3: announced to everyone sitting on the plane to fasten their
- 11:26Speaker 3: seatbelts because we didn't really know what kind of landing
- 11:28Speaker 3: we were going to have. At that point, I knew
- 11:31Speaker 3: there were malfunctions on the plane, but I didn't tell
- 11:33Speaker 3: the passengers to avoid causing panic.
- 11:36Speaker 4: That's it.
- 11:36Speaker 3: We landed in Saudi Arabia. And from there, the police
- 11:39Speaker 3: arrived after some time. An ambulance took Smith for treatment.
- 11:43Speaker 3: They arrested the terrorist and took care of us. They
- 11:46Speaker 3: gave us water, gave us food, treated us very well,
- 11:50Speaker 3: and really took care of us. We have no complaints
- 11:52Speaker 3: about them.
- 11:53Speaker 4: That's it. And then they flew us to Israel.
- 11:57Speaker 5: Again, if Hollywood were given a script, some would say
- 12:05Speaker 5: it's too far-fetched, even for Hollywood. It's hard to comprehend
- 12:12Speaker 5: the enormity of what you have just laid out. I'd
- 12:17Speaker 5: love to know if your wife, who you were sitting
- 12:19Speaker 5: next to, tried to stop you from going to help
- 12:24Speaker 5: or what happened before you jumped up.
- 12:28Speaker 4: No, my wife didn't say anything to me.
- 12:30Speaker 3: She didn't even have the chance because the moment everything started,
- 12:33Speaker 3: I reacted very quickly. The only thing I told them
- 12:35Speaker 3: was to fasten their seatbelts and I literally ran toward
- 12:38Speaker 3: the cockpit. The next time they saw me was when
- 12:41Speaker 3: the plane landed in Saudi Arabia over an hour later.
- 12:46Speaker 5: What do you say to a world that seems to
- 12:53Speaker 5: think you and your people are the side of evil
- 12:58Speaker 5: and this co-pilot and his people are somehow the side
- 13:03Speaker 5: of good?
- 13:05Speaker 3: I say, stop for a moment, look at who the
- 13:07Speaker 3: terrorists tried to murder, who was on the plane. There
- 13:10Speaker 3: were so many kids, lots of kids coming back from vacation,
- 13:13Speaker 3: who just wanted to travel a bit with their families,
- 13:16Speaker 3: with their parents, moms and dads, older people. Don't forget,
- 13:19Speaker 3: he waited at the entrance to the plane. He welcomed us.
- 13:22Speaker 3: He saw all the kids. He saw all the people.
- 13:24Speaker 3: And he knew in his mind down that he was
- 13:26Speaker 3: about to murder all of us just because we are Jewish,
- 13:29Speaker 3: not for any other reason. So I ask you, What
- 13:33Speaker 3: kind of monster do you have to be to think
- 13:35Speaker 3: like that? Imagine you're in my place. I'm boarding with
- 13:38Speaker 3: my wife and my two daughters. He's on the plane.
- 13:41Speaker 3: He's looking at us. And all he wants is to
- 13:43Speaker 3: kill us. How much evil, how much evil does it take?
- 13:46Speaker 4: How much? I'm trying to understand, really. I'm trying to imagine.
- 13:49Speaker 4: And I just can't. I can't wrap my head around it.
- 13:51Speaker 4: That is actually so....
- 14:04Speaker 5: Chilling and I hadn't even thought of that part of
- 14:08Speaker 5: it that he would have seen coming on the faces
- 14:13Speaker 5: of children he was intending to kill and not only
- 14:19Speaker 5: kill but put through such fear and horror and pain
- 14:26Speaker 5: right beforehand knowing what he was about to force people
- 14:33Speaker 5: to endure and was completely okay with it. Let's finish
- 14:39Speaker 5: on a somewhat more positive note. President Trump, in fact,
- 14:45Speaker 5: he said this about you.
- 14:47Speaker 6: I just want to thank and congratulate Yaniv Hayun, who's
- 14:53Speaker 6: a Israeli plumber and he's a Trump fan. I'm a
- 14:56Speaker 6: fan of his, a big fan. He saved that flight yesterday.
- 15:00Speaker 6: He did an amazing job. He got in there and
- 15:03Speaker 6: he learned how to fly by watching air disasters on television.
- 15:08Speaker 6: And he's my kind of guy. He can be my plumber.
- 15:11Speaker 6: He can be whatever he wants to be. What a
- 15:13Speaker 6: job he did.
- 15:14Speaker 4: He's a hero.
- 15:16Speaker 6: And I want to just congratulate him and his family.
- 15:19Speaker 6: You like me and I like you. Thank you, Yaniv.
- 15:28Speaker 5: I'd love to know if there are any plans to
- 15:31Speaker 5: meet with President Trump. I'm assuming you want to, you
- 15:35Speaker 5: would like to. And if so, will you sail there?
- 15:40Speaker 5: Are we avoiding flights for the next little while?
- 15:44Speaker 4: Meeting President Trump, I really don't know. As you know,
- 15:46Speaker 4: it's not up to me.
- 15:47Speaker 3: But if he invites me, I promise you that even
- 15:49Speaker 3: if there's no boat, I'll do it by swimming.
- 15:51Speaker 4: I'll do it by swimming.
- 15:58Speaker 5: Look, I suspect you won't be forced to swim and
- 16:01Speaker 5: I suspect you will get to meet the US president
- 16:05Speaker 5: at some stage, I have no doubt. Yaniv, thank you
- 16:10Speaker 5: for your courage, not only in that moment but in
- 16:15Speaker 5: the aftermath, to share your story, to help show the
- 16:18Speaker 5: world what it is to be Israeli, to be Jewish,
- 16:23Speaker 5: and the kind of evil that you faced in that
- 16:26Speaker 5: cockpit but that exists all around us in the most
- 16:30Speaker 5: terrifying of ways. Thank you for helping save the world,
- 16:34Speaker 5: not just that flight.
- 16:36Speaker 3: Erin, on a personal note, I want to thank you
- 16:38Speaker 3: for standing by the truth in such an inspiring way.
- 16:40Speaker 4: Thank you so much.
- 16:44Speaker 5: You don't have to thank me even a little bit.
- 16:49Speaker 5: The honor is mine, and it's a privilege. to tell
- 16:54Speaker 5: the truth and to stand on the right side of history,
- 16:57Speaker 5: as are you, my friend. Thank you.
- 17:00Speaker 2: You're amazing.
