- 0:03This is Living Waters of Grace, the teaching ministry of Clark
- 0:08Wofford, senior pastor of Calvary Chapel of Westmoreland,
- 0:12County of Greensburg, PA. Now here's Pastor Clark as he
- 0:16continues teaching through God's Word.
- 0:37He's come that we might have life and that we might have it
- 0:40more abundantly. We get a taste of the abundant
- 0:44life. We don't want the life that the
- 0:46devil has to offer us. But I think too much in the
- 0:50churches in these last days, we have compromised as a community
- 0:54of believers and we got our foot in the heat of God and we got
- 0:58our feet in the death of the devil.
- 1:00And we don't have the capacity to experience life to the degree
- 1:05that Christ has come to give it to us.
- 1:08Jesus has come to give us life in abundance, a life that
- 1:11without him we could never have. The eternal life that the Bible
- 1:16promises believers doesn't have to start for us in heaven.
- 1:19We can have eternal life right now, here on earth today.
- 1:24Pastor Clark teaches us that many Christians can't experience
- 1:28life in the capacity Jesus offers because we've made too
- 1:32many compromises with the flesh. Being lukewarm Christians leaves
- 1:37the door open to the enemy, pushing us farther away from
- 1:40Jesus. Now here's Pastor Clark in
- 1:43Revelation Chapter 20 with today's edition of Living Waters
- 1:47of Grace. Our defense is only the armor of
- 1:50God, and the only way we can stand against the Wiles of the
- 1:55devil is with the armor of God. Verse 11 of Ephesians 6 says put
- 2:02on the whole armour of God that you may be able to stand against
- 2:05the Wiles of the devil. This is a definition of Wiles.
- 2:07It's a trick. This is a noun, the trick, a
- 2:10strategy meant to fold, to trap, to entice.
- 2:13Art. 4 begaling behavior. The verb is to deceive, to
- 2:18entice, to lure away from, into distracting you from the person
- 2:22of Christ. How many of us are facing
- 2:24distractions every day to move you away from being focused on
- 2:28Jesus Christ? Every one of us.
- 2:30It's a maneuver, a military strategy to trap us, to destroy
- 2:35us, to ruin our lives. What the devil does?
- 2:38He exaggerates the pleasures of sin while minimizing the true
- 2:42nature and outcome of sin, right?
- 2:45He makes sin look so alluring, so great, so attractive, but he
- 2:48never tells us about the horror and the outcome of the
- 2:52consequences of our sin. The devil sees an opening in our
- 2:56lives through our emotions and moods.
- 2:58The husband's upset, he's bummed out, he's complaining, he's, you
- 3:02know this at his wit's end with everything and all of us guys,
- 3:05we've been there and maybe are today.
- 3:07And the devil sees the mood. He sees the emotions.
- 3:11This is an opportunity for me to really 'cause some havoc here.
- 3:14See, the devil can't read our hearts.
- 3:16Only God knows our hearts. But the devil can see the
- 3:20outcome of our attitudes, our actions.
- 3:22He's able to distinguish our intentions as we move in our
- 3:27attitudes. He uses other people to lead us
- 3:32astray. That's why the Bible says have
- 3:35no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness,
- 3:38but rather reprove them. Light and darkness can't walk
- 3:42together. The Bible says don't, don't be
- 3:44unequally yoked. So if you're with an unbeliever
- 3:47and you're a believer, that unbeliever is going to lead you
- 3:50astray. The master marketing agent in
- 3:54the world today is the devil. He packages sin and need
- 3:58attractive bundles. He makes things look so good and
- 4:01so exciting. It tells us in Second
- 4:03Corinthians chapter 2, verse 11, lest Satan should get an
- 4:06advantage of us. For we are not ignorant of his
- 4:09devices, his devices, his plots, his schemes, or his clever ways.
- 4:14Are you ignorant of Satan's devices?
- 4:16Raise your hand. We all are, we all are ignorant
- 4:21of his devices. That's why we need the word to
- 4:24show us what the deal is. If you're not in the word,
- 4:28you're going to be trapped. You're going to be deceived,
- 4:31you're going to be taken out and, and you got to ask yourself
- 4:33today, how much time am I in the word?
- 4:36How much am I hungering for the word?
- 4:38How much am I thirsting for righteousness?
- 4:40How much of my time in my daily life, Monday through Sunday, am
- 4:44I before the Word saying God give me wisdom, give me light so
- 4:48I don't get deceived by the darkness of the the enemy.
- 4:52Help me to understand so that I can protect my wife and my
- 4:56children. Help me to understand so I can
- 4:58help my brothers and sisters not fall victim to the consequences
- 5:02of the lives of the devil. We're told to have on this armor
- 5:06of God in Ephesians 6, and many of you are familiar with it.
- 5:09We had to memorize that in Bible college years ago, that whole
- 5:12book of Ephesians, and I memorize it, but I didn't have
- 5:15the foggiest idea what it was talking about.
- 5:19That's why, you know, understanding the Bible is just
- 5:22part of it. The Bible says we're to do the
- 5:24word or we deceive ourselves. But when he tells us to have
- 5:29this armor on him, just to break it out in terms that might make
- 5:32more sense, we're supposed to have this belt that's girded
- 5:36about the belt of truth, and that means that our life is to
- 5:39be surrounded by the truth. That's why it's important to be
- 5:42in church on Sundays, to be in the Word, whether you want to or
- 5:46not, whether you feel like it or not, you come because God's
- 5:49going to speak to your heart. He's going to show you what you
- 5:53need to know, and He's going to get you back on track.
- 5:56That's why we have Wednesday studies.
- 5:58That's why we have intercession. You know, God bless Dave and
- 6:00Janine. They're usually the only two
- 6:02down there praying. And Steve, you wonder where he
- 6:05goes. He's up there in the balcony
- 6:06praying for me as I'm preaching. And Gary and Cathy out in
- 6:09California at the time that I'm preaching, they're interceding
- 6:13for this service that the word of God would go forth because
- 6:16the flesh profits nothing only the spirit gives life.
- 6:19But the more we pray and the more we seek God, the more we're
- 6:23aware of the lies of the devil. Charles Spurgeon people would
- 6:27come up a wonderful man, preacher of God and the Lord
- 6:30moves in that church in Metropolitan Tabernacle and
- 6:33many, many people were saved and and their lives were transformed
- 6:36and and they would come to Charles after the service and
- 6:39ask, you know, what is, is the deal here in this place?
- 6:42Where is the power coming from? How's all this stuff happening?
- 6:45And Charles said, come on, I want to take you down to the
- 6:47furnace room. And they think a furnace room.
- 6:48What's he talking about? The place where the heat and the
- 6:51fire of God is took him down into the lower parts of the
- 6:54church. And there was many, many people
- 6:57on their knees praying for the Word of God as it went forth.
- 7:01If we're not praying for the Word of God going forth here,
- 7:05you'll hear the voice of a fool. You'll hear the voice of a man.
- 7:08But if you pray and you ask God to work and to move and to
- 7:12speak, you'll hear God's voice. And that's the only voice it can
- 7:15save and transform our lives. It says our heart is to be
- 7:19covered with Christ's righteousness.
- 7:21The breastplate of righteousness represents the righteousness of
- 7:25Jesus Christ. Our heart.
- 7:27Is our heart soft today or is it hard?
- 7:31The shield of faith, we're supposed to hold it up, and
- 7:34that's having a walk of faith and authority that we are where
- 7:40we're supposed to be with the Lord so that when the devil's
- 7:43shooting all his lies and arrows to discourage us and destroy our
- 7:46lives, we can see them bounce off of us because we have the
- 7:51faith that God has given to us to overcome.
- 7:55We have the helmet of salvation on.
- 7:57That means that your mind is to be renewed.
- 8:00You're to have the mind of Christ, right?
- 8:03Spending more time in the Word and in prayer is what causes you
- 8:05to think the way God thinks. Spending more time in the world
- 8:09causes you to think the way the devil thinks.
- 8:12We're supposed to have the sword of the Spirit, which is this,
- 8:15the word of God. This is our defense.
- 8:19This is what's able to quench all the lies of the devil.
- 8:24It says we're to pray always in the power of the Spirit.
- 8:28Pray always. Why?
- 8:29Because the flesh profits nothing.
- 8:32Only the Spirit gives life. Have you ever started to pray in
- 8:35your prayer life? And you're just praying because
- 8:36you know you're supposed to pray?
- 8:37You need to say it to get your conscience, OK?
- 8:39OK. God, I spoke to you.
- 8:41I prayed with my wife. I prayed with my kids.
- 8:43I prayed for dinner. I ask God for this.
- 8:45I ask God for that. But I mean praying fervently.
- 8:48God, help my brothers and sisters, help me.
- 8:52Help us help all the believers in the world today to overcome
- 8:56the lies of the devil. Help us to be salt and light in
- 8:59these last days. Help us not to be the kind of
- 9:01people that hide the light under the bushel so that no one can
- 9:04understand or see that we have a king, that we serve and that we
- 9:08follow. John 1010.
- 9:10This is from Jesus own words. The thief cometh not, but for to
- 9:15steal and to kill and to destroy.
- 9:20I have come that you may have life and that you might have it
- 9:24more abundantly. I'm not going to ask anybody to
- 9:27raise their hands on this one. But some of you know that the
- 9:31devil has come and knocked on your door and he's doing
- 9:34everything he can to steal everything you have, to destroy
- 9:38every relationship you have, and to take you out physically,
- 9:44emotionally, spiritually. Some of us here know that He's
- 9:49come, that we might have life and that we might have it more
- 9:53abundantly. We get a taste of the abundant
- 9:56life. We don't want the life that the
- 9:58devil has to offer us. But I think too much in the
- 10:01churches in these last days, we have compromised as a community
- 10:05of believers, and we got our foot in the heat of God and we
- 10:09got our feet in the death of the devil.
- 10:12And we don't have the capacity to experience life to the degree
- 10:16that Christ has come to give it to us.
- 10:19The devil shoots thoughts at us like arrows and darts.
- 10:24And the day he shot thoughts, Clark's a little bit different
- 10:26today. He's a little bit crazy.
- 10:29He's a little bit worked up. I've heard him preach a lot of
- 10:32times that I don't know if I've heard him this intense.
- 10:38So it's probably not a normal Sunday.
- 10:40So don't really think too much about it.
- 10:44It'll go he'll, he'll come back and be the same, the dead guy we
- 10:48had last week, maybe the same boring guy we had for the month
- 10:53before. I pray that's not the case.
- 10:55But believe me, apart from God's Spirit and apart from these kind
- 10:59of things, we will just have another church like any other
- 11:02church on any given Sunday where we do our quote religious duty
- 11:06and go home and I'll try to forget about whatever it is that
- 11:09we might have received. God's Spirit has to bring
- 11:13conviction. The devil's work is to influence
- 11:17us to disobey God's truth, just like in Genesis.
- 11:21Hath not God said the Eve twisting the Word?
- 11:25And I was thinking as I was preparing for this, I don't even
- 11:28think that's the tactic the devil has to use anymore to
- 11:31twist the Word. You know why?
- 11:32Because we're not even in the Word, right?
- 11:35Why does he have to twist the Word?
- 11:36We're not in the Scriptures, we're not studying, we're not
- 11:39feeding on the Word. So he'll use all kind of other
- 11:42tactics. A lot of us don't even know what
- 11:44the word says about things anymore because we haven't
- 11:47studied it. And Jesus, he says to all of us
- 11:51today, why do you call me Lord, Lord, and do not do the things
- 11:55that I say. Now this is a life of obedience.
- 11:59This is what a life of obedience will represent.
- 12:03You'll be separated unto the Lord.
- 12:08You'll have peace and you'll have well-being in your life.
- 12:13If you're obedient, the Lord will bless you.
- 12:16You will know you're doing His will.
- 12:19You won't ruin your life. He'll guard your life
- 12:22spiritually, mentally, and emotionally.
- 12:25He'll give you honor. He'll give you discernment.
- 12:28Some of us are like, what's God's plan?
- 12:30What's His will? If you walk on obedience, I
- 12:32guarantee 100% you will know God's purpose and will for your
- 12:37life. You'll have nothing to fear if
- 12:41you obey Him. You'll have reduced levels of
- 12:44anxiety. You'll be wise in heart.
- 12:47You'll release God's power in your life and your prayers will
- 12:50have power. The Bible says the fervent
- 12:53prayers of a righteous person avails much.
- 12:58If you're disobedient, you'll be separated from the Lord in the
- 13:02sense of your relationship will be dry and barren.
- 13:06You'll go to pray in the heavens will seem like brass.
- 13:08I'm just like not getting anywhere.
- 13:12There'll be no sense of His presence in your life because
- 13:15you're grieving and quenching the Holy Spirit.
- 13:18You're in danger of shipwreck, meaning your life is on the
- 13:21verge of complete destruction. Your life will be spiritually
- 13:25wasted at the end when you stand to give an account of yourself
- 13:29at the judgment seat of Christ, where believers go, not the
- 13:32great white throne judgment. We go to the judgment seat of
- 13:34Christ where God will test our works as though by fire, and
- 13:38we'll look at our life and we'll say it was a complete waste.
- 13:42I live for everything but what you wanted me to live for.
- 13:45Lord. Other lives will be in danger
- 13:49for walking in disobedience. The years that I walked in
- 13:52willful disobedience, I didn't know this at the time, but I was
- 13:57turning my wife and my children over to the devil to work, to
- 14:02get a foothold in the home and the family.
- 14:06If we're in disobedience, our sin effects others.
- 14:09You might think, well, my attitude, my actions, my
- 14:12bitterness, my complacency, my apathy, my coldness, my
- 14:15lukewarmness doesn't affect anybody else but me.
- 14:19But no, your life effects everyone else.
- 14:24If you're living a disobedience, you're hardened to the lordship
- 14:27of Jesus Christ in your life, you've lost all spiritual
- 14:31sensitivity, you have anxiety in your life, you have fear in your
- 14:35life, you have worry in your life, and you have chaos in your
- 14:38life. Abundant life comes from the
- 14:41Greek word parason, meaning exceedingly very highly beyond
- 14:46measure, more a quantity so abundant as to be considerably
- 14:52more than one would expect or anticipate.
- 14:55Isn't that the kind of life you want to have unto him who is
- 15:00able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask
- 15:04or think, according to the power that works within us.
- 15:08Jesus promised us a life far better than we could ever
- 15:12imagine. And Jesus says our life doesn't
- 15:16consist in the abundance of the things we possess.
- 15:19And many of us have compromised with what we spend our money on.
- 15:25And we've gotten this to try to find life, and we've bought that
- 15:29to try to find meaning. We've done this to try to find
- 15:33excitement. And Jesus is like shaking his
- 15:37head. When will you just come to me?
- 15:39Because I'm the one that gives you life.
- 15:44Come to me that you might find life and that you might find it
- 15:49more abundantly. That's why the apostle Paul said
- 15:51that Christ is our life and as a group of Christians, as a body
- 15:55of believers here, God wants us to find Christ being our All in
- 16:00all our everything, our focus. You know, you get a couple
- 16:04people in this church. I know we have many more than a
- 16:07couple. You guys are amazing, but just
- 16:10get a few people that are saying I don't want that anymore.
- 16:13I want what he wants. I don't want my will.
- 16:16I want God's will. I don't want to walk in two
- 16:19worlds. I don't want to compromise.
- 16:21I don't want to be cold. I don't want to be indifferent.
- 16:24I want to do what God says. I want to say to my husband,
- 16:26honey, we got to do what the word says and, and the father of
- 16:29the husband says, guys, we're going to do what God's word says
- 16:32regardless of the consequences. We're going to stake everything
- 16:35we are, everything we have on the lordship of Jesus Christ in
- 16:39our home. We're going to be as Joshua
- 16:42said, As for me in my house, we will serve the Lord.
- 16:48Colossians chapter 3, as we begin to conclude here, it says
- 16:54if you then are raised with Christ, seek the things which
- 16:56are above where Christ is sitting on the right hand of
- 16:59God. And I want to have some prayer
- 17:01today, guys, and I pray this altar is filled with us and I'll
- 17:04be here myself. I mean, we got to really say I
- 17:07want to be seeking what's above, not on things on the earth.
- 17:12And believe me, the way the church is today and these last
- 17:15days, the heat is not up, it's down.
- 17:18And so pastors are trying to figure out how we can fill our
- 17:20churches up and make the people feel good and feel comfortable.
- 17:26And meanwhile, what's happening in the church today is that
- 17:29there is a famine for the word of God.
- 17:31And so we're trying to make everybody feel OK.
- 17:34Well, you really don't have to seek what's above.
- 17:37Seek, you know what's below. We're all doing that.
- 17:39We're all the same. We're all in the same boat.
- 17:42You know, we don't have anybody around us making us.
- 17:44What would you call uncomfortable?
- 17:48Paul says seek the things which are above where Christ is
- 17:50sitting at the right hand of God.
- 17:52So one of the prayers today is we come to praise that Lord.
- 17:54I don't want to keep seeking what's below.
- 17:56Give me grace and help me. And guys, I know it's hard.
- 18:00I want to seek what's above. I'm sick of seeking what's below
- 18:03because all it's doing is ripping me off.
- 18:06Set your mind on things above, not on things of the earth.
- 18:09How many of us have our things on this earth?
- 18:11Raise your hand. We do.
- 18:15Our minds are on the things of this earth, for you died and
- 18:20your life is hidden with Christ and God.
- 18:22When Christ, who is our life appears, and you also will
- 18:25appear with him and glory. Therefore put to death your
- 18:29members which are on earth. The fornication.
- 18:32That's the sex outside of marriage.
- 18:34Stop it. If you're doing it, stop it.
- 18:36Uncleanness, passion, evil desire, greed, covetousness,
- 18:41which is idolatry. Because of these things, the
- 18:43wrath of God is going to come upon the sons of disobedience,
- 18:49in which you yourselves also once walked when you lived in
- 18:52them, but now you yourselves are to put off all these anger.
- 18:57If you guys are living in anger, you got to put it off.
- 19:01If you're living in wrath, you got to put it off.
- 19:02If you're living in malice or blasphemy or filthy language,
- 19:06get it out of your mouth. If you're lying to one another,
- 19:10if you're lying to God, if you're lying to one another,
- 19:12stop it, since you've put off the old man with its deeds and
- 19:16put on the new man which is renewed in the knowledge
- 19:19according to the image of him who created him.
- 19:23It says in verse 12, therefore, is the elect of God and an elect
- 19:26means a chosen of God, which the majority of us here today are
- 19:29believers. I, I know it says holy and
- 19:33beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness and
- 19:38long-suffering, and you might be going through something right
- 19:40now that you don't know how you're going to have the
- 19:42patience to deal with it. God says long-suffering comes
- 19:45from the spirit. And so, Lord, as I abide, as I
- 19:48look to you, as I surrender my will, my life to you, I will
- 19:52have all the patience in the world to wait upon you bearing
- 19:56with one another. Don't give up on each other.
- 20:00Don't make threats against one another.
- 20:02Don't say, Clark, if you preach another message like this, I'm
- 20:04never coming back to the church again.
- 20:07Hang in with me. Forgive one another.
- 20:10If anyone has a complaint against another, even as Christ
- 20:13forgave you, so you also must do.
- 20:15If any of us in here in the church have an attitude against
- 20:18anybody, we need to forgive each other.
- 20:21And above all these things, put on love, which is the bond of
- 20:23perfection. Love covers a multitude of sins
- 20:27and let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which you are
- 20:30called in one body, and be thankful.
- 20:32I love this. Let the word of Christ dwell in
- 20:34you richly, and all wisdom right, teaching and admonishing
- 20:40one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing
- 20:43with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
- 20:46That's what Rick and the team does every week.
- 20:50And whatever you do in Word of deed, do all in the name of our
- 20:54Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him the
- 21:01Christian home. Wives, submit to your own
- 21:02husbands as fitting to the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do
- 21:06not be bitter toward them. Husbands, if you're bitter
- 21:08toward your wives, deal with it. Let the devil's stronghold be
- 21:11broken in the name of Jesus today.
- 21:14Let the Lord have freedom. The only thing that's going to
- 21:16keep you from coming up here today is your pride and your
- 21:18arrogance, your indifference in your hardness of heart.
- 21:22Let it go. The word is convicted all of us
- 21:26today. Children, if you're here today,
- 21:28obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the
- 21:31Lord. If you're not obeying your
- 21:33parents, you got real heartache ahead of you.
- 21:36Fathers, don't provoke your children unless they become
- 21:38discouraged bondservants. Obey in all things your masters
- 21:42according to the flesh, not with eye services, men pleasers, but
- 21:46in sincerity of the heart, fearing God.
- 21:49So at work we're working for people maybe we don't like, we
- 21:51don't respect to drive us nuts. Hey, that's not the issue.
- 21:56Our issue is to serve God in that job, not with looking with
- 22:00what people are going to say about us, but we're serving God
- 22:03to glorify him. And it says, and whatever you
- 22:07do, do it hardly as to the Lord and not unto men, knowing that
- 22:13from the Lord you will receive your reward of the inheritance
- 22:17for you serve the Lord Christ for he who does wrong will be
- 22:22repaid for what he has done. And there is no partiality.
- 22:27I think this is a really important time today, guys, let
- 22:30the strongholds be broken. The devil has created enough
- 22:33havoc in our lives, hasn't he, in our homes, our marriages and
- 22:37our families. And maybe you're OK today.
- 22:40Maybe like everything, you're, you're on track with God and and
- 22:43this sermon, you might say, well, Clark, I heard you today
- 22:45and I understand what you said, but I don't have any issues.
- 22:48I'm living 100% like the word says.
- 22:51And so, well, that's great. If you're there, I'd like to
- 22:54talk to you and tell me how you're making that happen.
- 22:57But if you are, I mean, if it's well with your soul and I pray
- 23:00it is, then pray for some other people today.
- 23:03Come up and pray for some other families.
- 23:05Pray for people that aren't here today or people you know in your
- 23:08life that are getting torn up by the devil.
- 23:10You know, Jesus, when he looks from his throne, that's like
- 23:13when he looked over the city of Jerusalem, he wept, didn't he?
- 23:18He was broken. He saw the people as being sheep
- 23:20without a shepherd. As a church, you know,
- 23:23everything that we do isn't just about us.
- 23:25It's about the city that we're in.
- 23:28It's about our families, our neighbors, our relatives.
- 23:31It's about the broken relationships and families,
- 23:34lives everywhere. And what happens is when we
- 23:36pray, God sees our brokenness. He sees our humility and what he
- 23:41does. He breaks the strongholds and he
- 23:43causes us to begin to walk in a new way, a whole different way
- 23:46of life. We are digging into the Book of
- 23:51Revelation here on Living Waters of Grace.
- 23:53Pastor Clark is tackling this challenging book as we try to
- 23:57discern the messages that are within its pages.
- 24:01There's so much imagery and at times you're not always sure
- 24:05what's literal and what's metaphorical.
- 24:08At one point there's a reference to an adulterous woman riding on
- 24:12a beast. And as someone else mentioned,
- 24:14at one point it almost sounds like a rodeo from hell.
- 24:18And in actuality it kind of is. You learn about the downfall and
- 24:23demise of a sinful and rebellious world, falling down
- 24:27in worship to someone who is the anti hero, the enemy, Satan
- 24:33working his insidious ways into the minds of fallen people.
- 24:38It's sad and it's heartbreaking, but it's a classic story of good
- 24:43versus evil. Thankfully, we know how this
- 24:46story ends. Jesus wins, Jesus reigns, and
- 24:52evil is conquered once and for all.
- 24:56We pray and trust you've received Jesus as your Savior.
- 25:01But if you haven't, don't wait until the events in Revelation
- 25:04become what's happening on the streets.
- 25:07None of us wants you to be there at that time.
- 25:11Instead, we'd love for you to be with us in heaven as we
- 25:15celebrate the marriage supper with Jesus as his bridegroom.
- 25:21To get a better understanding of where we are in the Book of
- 25:24Revelation, to listen to any messages before or after this
- 25:28one, you can find them at our website,
- 25:31calvarychapelonline.com. That's it for today's edition,
- 25:37but we hope you'll want to hear Pastor Clark teach more from the
- 25:40Book of Revelation. It can be exciting to think
- 25:44about the future for believers, but it can feel a bit harrowing
- 25:48for those who don't believe. Come hear more next time on
- 25:51Living Waters of Grace.
