- 1:14Speaker 2: Jimmy Reno is with me.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Yes, I am.
- 1:18Speaker 2: All right man.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Back in town.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Yeah, man Got over the game.
- 1:24Speaker 2: I know that that game gets you nervous.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Yeah, it was a real.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Uh, it was a real booty hole clincher man.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Yeah, just like Justin wanted, right.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Just yeah, he was excited about it.
- 1:38Speaker 2: I don't know, I don't get that.
- 1:40Speaker 2: I would rather want to blow out any day of the week, but yeah, yeah.
- 1:44Speaker 1: But I mean, it was you know, I had a feeling we wouldn't cover and the game would be a lot, a lot tougher and more aggravating.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Yeah, 27,.
- 1:52Speaker 2: 20 is the final.
- 1:54Speaker 1: It was yes.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Uh, I think I really wish that that, um you know, there had been anybody else playing safety on that last touchdown for my yeah, that was a bad angle there by Knowles.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Was it even an angle?
- 2:11Speaker 2: Yeah, he just went over there and got out of the way just run into the sidelines and anything he didn't want to get in the way.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:18Speaker 2: I was like you should have just collided with everybody might as well.
- 2:21Speaker 2: That was not a good play on his part, but you know you survive in which was what was definitely one of the worst officiated games.
- 2:30Speaker 2: I mean, I went back and watched it.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Absolutely atrocious, terrible.
- 2:33Speaker 1: On both sides.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Um, you know it was 100% a safety.
- 2:38Speaker 1: I wish they would have called it a safety Right.
- 2:40Speaker 1: I don't think that.
- 2:41Speaker 1: I think that's all Miami would have got.
- 2:43Speaker 1: You know, you go to half 10 to nine and then you never kicked that onside kick, they got the end of getting the ball.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Yeah, florida State wasn't able to move the ball.
- 2:52Speaker 2: I think that kind of evens that out, yeah.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Um, they started their next drive on the 32.
- 2:57Speaker 1: You had plenty of time to try to take at least one shot at the end zone.
- 3:02Speaker 1: That's if I'm a Miami fan I'm pissed at Mario Cristobal for that and a few other things just essentially deciding to get down into field goal range and run it into Florida State's defensive line three times, um, yeah, man it.
- 3:17Speaker 1: You know that game was everything that that I kind of expected in terms of, like I figured that Miami might score a little bit more.
- 3:29Speaker 1: I thought Van Dyke was going to play, I figured he'd come in and and you'd kind of see the old gunslinger type.
- 3:37Speaker 1: But, it you know, it was a Miami's got some, some guys on both lines.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Yeah, they got, they dominated.
- 3:44Speaker 2: The line of scrimmage is particular in the second quarter where Florida State didn't even really get a yard.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, they, um, they did a really good job of funneling the run plays to.
- 3:56Speaker 1: You know, going to the outside making the defensive backs have to tackle Mark Fletcher was a little Don.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Don Cheney was the guy that they had trouble with.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Um, they, what did he finish with?
- 4:07Speaker 1: 87 yards on the ground, 85, but seven yards per carry.
- 4:12Speaker 1: They, they really had trouble with his, uh, his power and his, his little quickness, his burst.
- 4:17Speaker 1: But you know, the man defense played really well.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Yeah, they got a couple of places yeah.
- 4:25Speaker 1: They got put in a couple of spots where you know you know Miami had a really nice drive for their, their touchdown their first half touchdown.
- 4:32Speaker 1: They they did a really nice job.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Um Emery Emery Williams hit a couple of throws.
- 4:37Speaker 1: You know he had that big run to convert the first down.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Um, you know they did a nice job outside of that.
- 4:44Speaker 2: They had that one.
- 4:45Speaker 2: That's it.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Yeah, the the play and it was a not man, it was a dime, it was right there on the money.
- 4:50Speaker 1: But the safety's got to be there, at least make the tackle, and I think a playmaker at safety actually can have a shot at picking that off.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Emery deflected, but at least run into the receiver and just like run into your own guy.
- 5:02Speaker 1: You don't give up an 85 yard touchdown right that late in the game.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Right, right.
- 5:07Speaker 1: But yeah, I mean, you know that it's a win against Miami.
- 5:11Speaker 1: It goes down in the books.
- 5:12Speaker 1: It's another game.
- 5:13Speaker 1: That was just a just slobber knocker man.
- 5:18Speaker 2: What was your best?
- 5:19Speaker 2: What was the on the good side?
- 5:21Speaker 2: What?
- 5:21Speaker 2: What made you encourage after the game?
- 5:25Speaker 1: The fact that they continued to be resilient.
- 5:27Speaker 1: You know the fact that they came out and had it 27 to 13 and you know, really, there there was an opportunity there for them to to make it 34 to 13 instead.
- 5:41Speaker 2: They kind of they made the play when they had to.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Yeah, Encouraging to me is that Keon Coleman is just ridiculous.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Um, Trey Benson also yeah, he's a home run hitter.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Yeah, trey Benson is a is a load man, he gets going.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I'll say about the run game.
- 5:58Speaker 1: I think the run game misses, uh, dylan Gibbons and Trey Sean Ward and and some of the guys you know from last season to make it look a little bit better, but the home run threat is still there with Benson.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Um, this offense is just going to have negative plays, that's just.
- 6:15Speaker 1: It is what it is at this point.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Jordan Travis didn't really do much on the ground.
- 6:21Speaker 1: No, and I know and and and people are.
- 6:23Speaker 1: You know he's taking heat for that online.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Just his, his, what they perceive as his um decisions to just not run the ball, and you know.
- 6:34Speaker 1: You got to know what it is, though.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Is it a true option player?
- 6:36Speaker 1: Is it a designed handoff?
- 6:37Speaker 1: I mean, if you're watching from TV, you really don't have the aspect to know if that linebacker is back there waiting for him or not.
- 6:45Speaker 1: You know, it looks wide open a lot that backside, but you don't know what's on that other side.
- 6:50Speaker 1: You can only see up to a certain point.
- 6:52Speaker 1: I would agree, though, to some extent, that I think he's kind of holding back with the running the ball.
- 6:59Speaker 2: Well, you know, they got the win and that's number one yeah, he made some great.
- 7:04Speaker 1: he made some great.
- 7:04Speaker 1: He made some great throws.
- 7:05Speaker 2: He didn't turn the ball over.
- 7:08Speaker 1: And that's what you continue to do.
- 7:09Speaker 2: That's what won the game, essentially over since he started this and since they started the win streak.
- 7:16Speaker 2: You could see it in the games they lost last year.
- 7:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:19Speaker 2: I mean you could start to see it when he turned the ball over is the only time that someone could get him.
- 7:23Speaker 2: He didn't.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Florida State's a hard team to beat because of how they fight you the whole game.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Likes to fight guy.
- 7:29Speaker 2: That's what this team is.
- 7:31Speaker 1: And it kind of is a nice segue into my next thing.
- 7:35Speaker 1: I want to highlight here.
- 7:36Speaker 1: What really impressed me was my player of the game, alex Mastromano, the punter.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Yeah, dude, five out of his seven punts inside the 20.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Average 49 per punt.
- 7:50Speaker 1: What's funny is Joyce Miami's punter also averaged 49 per punt with seven punts.
- 7:55Speaker 1: They combined for 686 yards of punts in this game.
- 8:01Speaker 1: But yeah, and that's not turning the ball over, allowing him to do that.
- 8:07Speaker 1: You get it to all right, his fourth down, but our punter is booming the ball.
- 8:12Speaker 1: He's continuing to flip the field in our favor and that's essentially what won you the game, what allowed you to hold on to win the game.
- 8:21Speaker 1: You know, in the end they had to drive a huge length of field to be able to get you know, to tie the game.
- 8:27Speaker 1: They couldn't do it.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Was there anything you know?
- 8:32Speaker 2: Was it concerning seeing the line of scrimmage dominated, like it was in second quarter?
- 8:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, you know the things that were concerning about the line of scrimmage was just the continued inability for Florida State to handle the Blitzes coming.
- 8:47Speaker 1: You know I think they were just a little too quick for a couple of the linemen.
- 8:51Speaker 1: You know there was some sizable whiffs on the Blitz pickup, yeah.
- 8:55Speaker 1: But you know you combine that maybe after the holding, after the holding call, you know where it's first and 20, you know hindsight is always 20-20, but maybe you don't call it a straight dropback, which then you get the sack, the safety that was in the safety, you know, and it's snowing.
- 9:15Speaker 1: The safety that was my safety, you know, and it snowballs like that.
- 9:18Speaker 1: But this game man, both sides really tried to limit possessions in this game.
- 9:23Speaker 1: I felt like, early on you kind of saw both teams doing the same thing.
- 9:27Speaker 1: It looked like Florida State was very methodical in their pace but they, they squandered a couple of opportunities.
- 9:35Speaker 3: You know the chance to get the chance to go up 14 to nothing and you can't get it in the end zone.
- 9:41Speaker 1: A chance to go up 17 to 13 and you can't get in the end zone.
- 9:44Speaker 1: That was frustrating, you know you credit to Miami.
- 9:47Speaker 1: I'm going to, I'm going to tip my cap to Derek Nicholson, former Nol linebackers coach at Miami.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Yeah, um, they were clearly like that was.
- 9:56Speaker 1: That was the difference in their difference from this year to last year.
- 9:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I know Reuben Bain is good, you know he's great.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Leonard Taylor was playing a lot better.
- 10:04Speaker 1: But the linebackers, the transfer, the Mauiuga guy and Wesley Basanth, like they, that's who got after Travis, that's who caused the havoc out of them, you know, and then the Blitz that they couldn't pick up.
- 10:17Speaker 1: So I mean, I you know it was a really good game.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Miami.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Miami is is with Lance Gidry.
- 10:24Speaker 1: That defense is highly improved.
- 10:26Speaker 2: Yeah, They've made some mistakes this year.
- 10:27Speaker 2: They're they haven't lived up to the talent on that team.
- 10:31Speaker 2: They have talent.
- 10:32Speaker 1: No, and it's not about talent.
- 10:33Speaker 1: They still have times.
- 10:33Speaker 1: They still have some players there that do dumb stuff.
- 10:36Speaker 1: They put them in bad situations.
- 10:37Speaker 1: James Williams to me is is you know he's really good, but he he should have had at least two personal files in this game.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Normally he gets flagged for that kind of stuff.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Right.
- 10:47Speaker 2: And he, well, let's go there.
- 10:49Speaker 2: And then I mean what the hell I mean twice in the game?
- 10:53Speaker 2: I love what Sean McDonnell he's called him out.
- 10:55Speaker 2: I mean he put requests in.
- 10:57Speaker 1: Two inexcusable calls Right, one and one for each team, getting getting the short end of it.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Well, those are ones where you're like the replay and the TV boost sitting there.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Well, everybody's seeing this at home.
- 11:08Speaker 1: Yeah, everybody's seeing it at home and when Matt Austin is in, you know when they bring him in and he's just like there is no cause.
- 11:16Speaker 1: He's always going to try to defend the officials perspective, right?
- 11:19Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 11:19Speaker 1: You know, and, and he can't, and he doesn't even attempt to on either one of those calls Like come on, what are we doing?
- 11:25Speaker 2: Yeah, Then they asked for an explanation.
- 11:27Speaker 2: They didn't get one.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought that was that's.
- 11:29Speaker 2: That's amateur, amateur, amateur, it really is man, it's Bush League.
- 11:32Speaker 1: It really is and it to me it's.
- 11:34Speaker 1: It indicates that the, the conferences focus is elsewhere.
- 11:39Speaker 1: You know it's like they are.
- 11:41Speaker 1: You know they kind of batten down the hatches trying to figure out this expansion and everything.
- 11:45Speaker 1: And, like you know, we're not going to hold the refs accountable to the same degree.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Well, I mean, what do you buzz down there for in the first place, and what are you looking at, I mean, in terms of not calling that a safety?
- 11:57Speaker 2: I thought those were.
- 11:58Speaker 2: I mean, they missed other calls throughout the game as well.
- 12:01Speaker 1: I mean, they reviewed a couple of other ones, but they're, they're.
- 12:04Speaker 1: You know, for some reason they just can't seem to find more than two or three camera angles, right.
- 12:10Speaker 1: But yeah, it was awful, awful both ways.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Florida State moves to 10 and 0, man 10 and 0.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Right.
- 12:20Speaker 1: No reason not to be 11 and 0.
- 12:21Speaker 1: I mean no disrespect to North Alabama.
- 12:23Speaker 1: It's 11 and 0.
- 12:25Speaker 2: North Alabama up next senior day.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Hopefully see a lot of backups, yeah.
- 12:33Speaker 1: I would.
- 12:33Speaker 1: I would like to see more than anything.
- 12:35Speaker 1: I would like to see pretty much every offensive lineman we have on the roster get in the game and get some playing time.
- 12:43Speaker 1: There it is Rosenbagger.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Yeah, warm up, you're going in.
- 12:52Speaker 1: I want to.
- 12:53Speaker 1: I want to see it, man.
- 12:54Speaker 1: I want to see him get a couple of quarters of like legitimate action, you know, put them in more than just a couple of different situations.
- 13:01Speaker 2: I got some rest for the last battle.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Yeah, regular season, down a swamp.
- 13:06Speaker 1: It's senior day.
- 13:07Speaker 1: A kid like Jordan Travis like it.
- 13:09Speaker 1: There's really no way you're gonna keep him from dressing and and going out there one more time, I think.
- 13:16Speaker 1: But man, after one series I would just pull him and I.
- 13:22Speaker 1: That goes for Keon and Johnny as well.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Yeah, johnny Wilson made it back was big.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Five catches, 82 yards.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Kai Douglas another huge catch, almost broke it.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Three catches, 69 yards.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Trey Benson 16 carries, 80 yards to touchdowns.
- 13:40Speaker 2: And that was pretty much it on the ground.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Yeah, and that you know he did what he does.
- 13:47Speaker 1: And what I'm saying is is, you know, lawrence Toa Filly, he's done okay this year trying to feel that second back roll, but I still don't think they have what they had with Ward and Benson in terms of the compliment to each other, and I think you would have seen, like you know, six point yards of six yards of carry man for two straight seasons.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Like you lose that from your running game, it's gonna be hard to replace.
- 14:11Speaker 2: My guy Katelyn DeLoach, again timing up those blitzes Another two sacks.
- 14:17Speaker 1: He's really just putting together a great senior campaign three linebackers are the top three Tacklers on the team for Florida State.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Yeah, the adjustment, they made it the second and second half to bring Lundy in the game more.
- 14:28Speaker 1: You know, keep that guy outside to be able to make the tackles on the running backs because they were they were eating us up, right.
- 14:35Speaker 1: But they made the adjustment and, and to their credit, they kept all that chunk runs like in between the 20s right.
- 14:42Speaker 2: This is a red zone efficiency type of team.
- 14:45Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah and Offensively.
- 14:47Speaker 2: They haven't really been producing in the red zone lately, but the defense continues to come through.
- 14:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I'd like to see him take some more shots to Johnny and Keon when they get in the red zone.
- 14:59Speaker 2: I thought you saw Johnny was a little bit rusty.
- 15:02Speaker 2: He had a couple drops, yeah.
- 15:04Speaker 1: But man, you had man coverage out there off after Jokai Douglas's Long catch.
- 15:09Speaker 1: It would have been nice to see it just one shot.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Throw it out, throw it close to out of bounds, try to.
- 15:15Speaker 1: I get it, man, it's risky but Still, whatever knit picking.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Yeah Well, let's.
- 15:24Speaker 2: Let's check out what was going on Around the country.
- 15:29Speaker 2: Some big games, georgia yeah, they did, gracious man.
- 15:34Speaker 1: What I, what I expect him, is exactly what Alabama they're my number one.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah and Listen.
- 15:41Speaker 1: There's two good teams, two dominant teams in the SEC and that's it.
- 15:46Speaker 1: Nobody else in the SEC really plays a lot of defense.
- 15:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:50Speaker 1: I'm with the risk of this coming back to bite me in the ass in two weeks.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Yeah, but it's just Georgia's number one.
- 15:58Speaker 1: I would put Michigan at number two.
- 16:00Speaker 2: I mean they went in big win for Michigan on the road.
- 16:02Speaker 2: Yeah, and against a guy that doesn't.
- 16:05Speaker 2: But we knew that was gonna happen.
- 16:07Speaker 2: I Did.
- 16:08Speaker 2: Yeah, you got bit by that.
- 16:10Speaker 1: I did.
- 16:11Speaker 2: I wanted to believe I did that earlier against Ohio State.
- 16:14Speaker 1: But it's now.
- 16:15Speaker 1: There's not even a question.
- 16:16Speaker 1: They just fired their offensive coordinator Penn.
- 16:18Speaker 2: State.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Wow, I guess he's gonna fall on the sword this year.
- 16:20Speaker 1: James Franklin is an offensive guy.
- 16:22Speaker 1: He is the offensive coordinator.
- 16:25Speaker 2: I know he's the head coach, but let's get serious about as vanilla as vanilla gets.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's the same recipe for Penn State.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Every time they play those guys the quarterback has horrible numbers.
- 16:35Speaker 1: As accuracy is below 50%, they can't do anything.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Maybe a garbage touchdown late to look a little more respectable, but they're just not good in terms of you know, they're old miss of the big 10.
- 16:48Speaker 1: They got a lot of parallels with Ole Miss.
- 16:50Speaker 1: They'll beat up on the other programs, but when it comes to the two big dogs they cannot compete.
- 16:56Speaker 2: No miss did not have a chance, and George's offense was humming over 600 yards.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, they're fine in their group.
- 17:04Speaker 1: Both Alabama and Georgia are both offensively.
- 17:07Speaker 1: They're finding what they are good at, and just Alabama is a different team than they were.
- 17:13Speaker 2: They figured out how to use their Monster at quarterback, a little Tim Tebow est style.
- 17:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, you just got to run that, run that horse.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Yeah, whether Tommy Reese was was inspired on his own or he took a little nudging from Nick Saban to just.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Scrap all this multiple pro style offense trash.
- 17:31Speaker 1: We're gonna.
- 17:32Speaker 1: We're gonna give him one or two reads and if it's not there, take off.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Yep and that.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Yeah, man, there's they've taken off since yeah, they look really really dominant.
- 17:41Speaker 2: I'll tell you what man went in to Orlando and got shut down by go Gus and the Golden Knights.
- 17:51Speaker 3: Oh, that's a that's a unrealized idea of the week nomination right there man.
- 17:56Speaker 3: I realized.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Sitting, sitting at the top of the rankings in the big 12.
- 18:03Speaker 1: You just won bedlam.
- 18:04Speaker 1: Yeah, all you got to do is go to you know Hot, sleepy Orlando, do what everybody else has done and beat the crap out of out of Gus.
- 18:13Speaker 1: They got killed.
- 18:14Speaker 1: Yeah, gundy was on the golf course all week.
- 18:17Speaker 1: The GAs were running practice realized, unrealized nomination number one.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Who else I Mean?
- 18:26Speaker 1: We got it, we got to get.
- 18:27Speaker 1: We got to get to it, man.
- 18:28Speaker 1: The story of the well, yeah, we'll get.
- 18:31Speaker 2: I mean Florida.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Florida.
- 18:33Speaker 1: You can put them up there again, man, you can.
- 18:37Speaker 3: Unrealized idea, unrealized getting rough.
- 18:40Speaker 2: I tell you what Jaden Daniels.
- 18:42Speaker 2: I think he's moved to the top of a bad at.
- 18:45Speaker 2: Heisman list.
- 18:46Speaker 1: Nobody's better.
- 18:47Speaker 2: You're talking at just a single best player in college football.
- 18:51Speaker 1: That's hands down.
- 18:52Speaker 1: It's 600 total yards by one guy by one guy.
- 18:55Speaker 1: I.
- 18:57Speaker 2: Mean.
- 18:57Speaker 2: That's no one's ever done in the vaunted SEC conference.
- 19:01Speaker 1: You know that the the premier college football conference.
- 19:04Speaker 2: Yeah, this is Jaden.
- 19:05Speaker 2: Be a season like Tebow.
- 19:06Speaker 2: You got a season like Lamar Jackson.
- 19:09Speaker 2: The record is not too great, but I mean, everything they are is because of him and that, his ability, and it's just impressive to see.
- 19:17Speaker 2: I don't, if you had, I mean, maybe you could see the winner of the Washington Oregon battle, the quarterback there to challenge.
- 19:25Speaker 1: But if it was me, the best player, most dominant player, has been he finishes the season if they don't lose again and he continues to put up video game stats, I think he's at least got to be.
- 19:36Speaker 1: I Would have him the favorite.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Yeah, if it were to end today, I would give him the award and my top four would be I Would have Georgia at number one, michigan at two, fsu at three, ohio State at four.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Um, I would have Washington at five, in Alabama at six.
- 19:59Speaker 2: Yeah, I know, Texas beat Alabama.
- 20:03Speaker 2: I know that.
- 20:03Speaker 2: But I would just ask me if they asked me today.
- 20:06Speaker 2: That's what I'm taking.
- 20:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean they're uh.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Yeah, you watch both teams play now and there's just, you're kind of in amazement that that team beat Alabama.
- 20:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:20Speaker 1: We'll see if, if, if viewers gets healthy and comes back and and you know, but Alabama definitely looks a lot stronger offensively than they did when they played Texas.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:31Speaker 1: That defense has always been filthy.
- 20:33Speaker 2: It really has Um.
- 20:36Speaker 2: Okay, so what else was big this weekend?
- 20:42Speaker 1: I mean we got.
- 20:43Speaker 1: We got to talk about it, man.
- 20:45Speaker 2: Oh, oh, is there something else?
- 20:46Speaker 2: Oh and unrealized, well uh it finally happened man.
- 20:52Speaker 3: Jimbo.
- 20:55Speaker 1: He's out.
- 20:55Speaker 3: Unrealized idea Unrealized.
- 20:58Speaker 2: They fired Jimbo.
- 21:00Speaker 1: You know what I'm.
- 21:00Speaker 1: I'm, I'm going to nominate Texas A&M's athletic department, I agree, and not Jimbo Fisher.
- 21:07Speaker 1: Texas A&M athletic department Unrealized.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Scott Woodward Ross Bjorke, you are.
- 21:16Speaker 2: Right they went.
- 21:18Speaker 2: They just rewarded him for a championship he had won in Florida State a few years prior.
- 21:23Speaker 2: They didn't do their due diligence, I would say they, they didn't.
- 21:28Speaker 1: And it was because Scott Woodward was was friends with Jimbo.
- 21:31Speaker 1: He knew Jimbo from LSU.
- 21:33Speaker 1: He knew the old Jimbo before all the nastiness and Jimbo's personal life was made public news in Tallahassee.
- 21:42Speaker 1: Yeah, before all of that, before the public spat with the head of the boosters and and what have you?
- 21:48Speaker 1: That's who.
- 21:50Speaker 1: He knew the guy before that, the guy that won a title for Florida State you know as the head coach.
- 21:56Speaker 1: Well, that's not who he hired at Texas A&M, though.
- 21:59Speaker 2: No no.
- 22:03Speaker 3: Unrealized idea Unrealized.
- 22:06Speaker 2: I think, I think they win.
- 22:08Speaker 2: That has to go to Texas A&M this week.
- 22:11Speaker 1: Yeah, that's it, without question.
- 22:13Speaker 2: I mean they just backed up the truck.
- 22:14Speaker 2: They're like here you go.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Right, you just used a country's national debt and some, some parts of the world to to buy out a coach.
- 22:25Speaker 1: Um, and it's honestly, it's because of the unreal expectations that they put on them in the first place.
- 22:32Speaker 2: Well, yeah, Giving them a plaque winning the national championship.
- 22:36Speaker 2: Come on.
- 22:36Speaker 3: Yeah, unrealized, idea Unrealized.
- 22:39Speaker 2: It was stupid to think you're going to go to a program that may have more money.
- 22:45Speaker 2: That's what it was.
- 22:45Speaker 2: So it was a cash grab.
- 22:47Speaker 2: It almost looks like a cash grab and he I think Texas A&M's the the loser here.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Yeah, they're the ones that that, ultimately, they look the most Florida state got the best years of Jimbo.
- 23:01Speaker 2: It looks like it.
- 23:02Speaker 2: You know the first.
- 23:03Speaker 2: I mean you got a championship out of Jimbo.
- 23:06Speaker 2: You know that you can't ever take that away.
- 23:08Speaker 2: That was probably one of the best teams that she's ever had, arguably the best.
- 23:12Speaker 1: Right, and that was.
- 23:13Speaker 1: That was years of hard work, though FSU by Jimbo Even started when he was an offensive coordinator and he continued.
- 23:20Speaker 1: Yeah, and it, but it was driven motivated.
- 23:23Speaker 1: I have to achieve this.
- 23:25Speaker 1: You know the goal is in front of me and after that it really became more about you know I mean it wasn't about the process.
- 23:33Speaker 1: Yeah, it wasn't as much about the process anymore as about all right, where's my reward?
- 23:38Speaker 1: Why am I having to ask for it?
- 23:40Speaker 1: Why am I being told wait or no, or and you know he didn't yeah.
- 23:45Speaker 2: And then everything else.
- 23:46Speaker 2: Everything else played out the way it did and you know for you can win at Florida State If you have the right guy.
- 23:51Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, they messed up hiring.
- 23:55Speaker 1: I think that's something that gets lost.
- 23:57Speaker 1: Is that, wow, these guys may have more money, right, they more, you know, they may have better facilities because they use all that money and the endowment that they have and all that.
- 24:07Speaker 1: But you know what they can't acquire at Texas A&M, what you can acquire at Florida State in terms of building your roster, building that team, and I still maintain that man.
- 24:19Speaker 1: But, you're not gonna, you just can't do it.
- 24:21Speaker 2: Well, I think they need to learn from that and get more of a hungrier, smaller coach, maybe a younger, maybe not a big a name.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Don't go for the media, big media hire.
- 24:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:37Speaker 2: Just back up the truck and throw it at it, even though they could.
- 24:40Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just such a weird.
- 24:41Speaker 1: They're just such a weird program man in terms of how they wanna compete, and Texas, coming to the SEC, is not gonna do anything to halt their thought process of throw money at it and it'll get better.
- 24:56Speaker 1: I mean, that's literally what those schools do is try to just outspend each other.
- 25:01Speaker 1: But hey, whatever man, whatever.
- 25:06Speaker 1: They just it's Unrealized idea, man.
- 25:12Speaker 1: They gave him two cattle ranches.
- 25:16Speaker 1: God man they gave him everything, private jet everything, everything he wanted, and he is a seven and a half win coach for you.
- 25:25Speaker 1: At the end of the day Couldn't even get you that solid eighth win.
- 25:29Speaker 1: It was hit or miss every year.
- 25:31Speaker 2: Yeah well, I think that was their mistake.
- 25:34Speaker 2: Yeah Well, you know what do we got?
- 25:39Speaker 2: We got some of the Niners back on track.
- 25:42Speaker 2: You got that one right in the NFL.
- 25:44Speaker 2: Nfl is just hard to guess, man every week.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Really is dude.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Who saw Cincinnati's defense Texans beat?
- 25:53Speaker 2: the Bengals.
- 25:53Speaker 1: Watch out for CJ Stroud man.
- 25:55Speaker 2: He's really impressive.
- 25:56Speaker 2: What were the Panthers thinking, man?
- 26:01Speaker 1: If you read and you wanna believe what you read on the internet.
- 26:04Speaker 1: It was all the owner.
- 26:06Speaker 1: I don't think the GM or Frank Reich wanted Bryce Young.
- 26:10Speaker 1: They wanted.
- 26:10Speaker 1: Cj Stroud and the owner just fell in love with Bryce Young and that whole.
- 26:14Speaker 2: Can't replace the owner.
- 26:16Speaker 1: No, you can't.
- 26:17Speaker 2: Well, we had.
- 26:17Speaker 2: That was a huge KitiPool weekend.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Oh, yes, yes.
- 26:22Speaker 2: Huge KitiPool weekend.
- 26:24Speaker 1: Insane man.
- 26:24Speaker 1: I think Norvell's count that he gave to the camera crew was like 132 at the end of the day that showed up.
- 26:32Speaker 1: That's pretty good.
- 26:35Speaker 1: The biggest news is Florida State looks to be right in the thick of it with this Jeremiah Smith kid.
- 26:42Speaker 1: Oh, wow, at a Hollywood Shamanad down in Broward County.
- 26:46Speaker 1: I mean, for me he's the best player in the country.
- 26:49Speaker 1: Wow, skill player, yeah, he's wide receiver.
- 26:53Speaker 1: I would put him along the lines you remember AJ Green and Julio Jones came out of high school looking college ready Like that's how this kid appears anyway.
- 27:04Speaker 1: Like he looks like a freshman in college already.
- 27:07Speaker 2: And he's committed to Ohio State, though.
- 27:09Speaker 1: He's committed to Ohio State, has been committed to Ohio State for a long time I think a little bit over a year and you understand why.
- 27:17Speaker 1: I mean the line of receivers they've put in the NFL.
- 27:23Speaker 1: Brian Hartline has this reputation now that he'll get you in the first round no matter what.
- 27:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:30Speaker 2: But You're starting to change that narrative a little bit you see the guys that PSU has this year.
- 27:35Speaker 1: In particular, he's watching what's going on with Keon Coleman and I think that has kind of you know it's resonating in the fact that maybe I don't have to go 1200 miles away to play football just to get ready for the NFL.
- 27:50Speaker 1: You know they'd like I'm watching it right now with Keon Coleman.
- 27:54Speaker 1: He'd like they know that.
- 27:55Speaker 1: They know all he wants to do right now is just you know he wants to win, help the team and stuff, but his focus he came here to get to the league and they're allowing him to do that.
- 28:04Speaker 1: I mean, he's returning punts, never done it before.
- 28:07Speaker 1: And look at him.
- 28:07Speaker 2: They needed somebody to do it, yeah.
- 28:09Speaker 1: Look that punt return that he had against Miami.
- 28:12Speaker 1: You know he hit 19 and a half miles per hour in the span of like two seconds.
- 28:16Speaker 1: Like that's going to get him top 10, top 15 alone.
- 28:20Speaker 1: Like being his size, like they're looking.
- 28:23Speaker 1: Nfl is looking at him saying this is AJ Brown.
- 28:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Like we're watching yeah.
- 28:29Speaker 2: And they're going to just nail it on the on the transfer port.
- 28:31Speaker 2: It's really opening a lot of eyes and they they can have now to pick and choose who they want to get.
- 28:37Speaker 1: Right and, and you know when you can show a kid like hey, man, you can, you can come here.
- 28:41Speaker 1: Develop, go first round, have a chance at playing in the play of everything you can get at Ohio State, and you can be six, seven hours away instead of 14, 15, where you got to jump on a plane, instead of just hopping in a car taking a nap.
- 28:56Speaker 2: So some other news on the recruiting kid.
- 28:59Speaker 2: You know K it and there's a Facebook group.
- 29:03Speaker 2: After all, law student.
- 29:06Speaker 1: They do have to pick it right towards um 70 points at that point.
- 29:10Speaker 1: So he was inünüz amount at this time, and so he had to multiti.
- 29:15Speaker 1: 왜 tweet?
- 29:15Speaker 1: He kicked him there back in Tallahassee for the last two days, even though Billy Napier and the staff didn't really want him to make that trip.
- 29:35Speaker 1: So it's something to monitor.
- 29:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I know he could lock.
- 29:39Speaker 1: Yeah, he continues to say he's locked in with Florida, but we'll see.
- 29:43Speaker 1: But yeah, Florida needs, they need this recruiting class.
- 29:48Speaker 1: Napier needs it to hold together.
- 29:50Speaker 1: They're five and five, Five and five they got.
- 29:52Speaker 2: They have Missouri coming up and then.
- 29:54Speaker 2: Florida State.
- 29:55Speaker 2: Right, so they're not gonna be favorite to win either of those games.
- 29:58Speaker 2: They need to win at least one of them to make a bowl.
- 30:01Speaker 1: Yeah, so there's pressure, man, and this is two years in a row.
- 30:04Speaker 1: Pressure and Napier has some things he's gonna have to do in the offseason.
- 30:09Speaker 1: Are you gonna, are you gonna, make a change to defensive coordinator?
- 30:13Speaker 1: Can you do that and go on your third defensive coordinator in three years?
- 30:17Speaker 1: I think he sticks with Austin Armstrong.
- 30:20Speaker 1: I think he's gonna have to hire an offensive coordinator.
- 30:23Speaker 1: I don't think that's gonna be negotiation for him?
- 30:28Speaker 2: Who are some names?
- 30:29Speaker 2: Let's do some hot speculation real quick.
- 30:32Speaker 1: Yeah, let's get into it.
- 30:34Speaker 2: Who are some names?
- 30:35Speaker 2: Hot speculation, hot speculation, hot speculation.
- 30:41Speaker 2: Greatest song Hot speculation, hot speculation, hot speculation, hot speculation, hot speculation.
- 30:47Speaker 2: Some names like for this Texanum job.
- 30:49Speaker 2: I mean, could they go after Deon?
- 30:51Speaker 1: I mean, well, he's already come out and said he has no interest in the job, before anybody even offered him.
- 30:57Speaker 1: He just assumes like, well, they're awfully gonna come, come off for me to the job.
- 31:00Speaker 1: I don't want it, okay.
- 31:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't think they would go that route unless like Elko right.
- 31:07Speaker 1: Yeah, for me that's gotta be their top choice.
- 31:10Speaker 1: Nice guy already got the familiarity.
- 31:12Speaker 1: Yeah Well, a big thing and a deciding factor.
- 31:15Speaker 1: You know, at least one of them apparently was that the board of trustees, or board of Regents as they call it over there decided like, hey, man, like if we give this guy another year, Jimbo, he's gonna waste that recruiting class that we bought two years ago yeah, you know a $30 million class that caused all that kerfuffle out there in the media.
- 31:37Speaker 2: Top rated class of all time.
- 31:40Speaker 1: Yeah, like they feel like.
- 31:41Speaker 1: Yeah, they're looking at it like we've gotten nothing out of it and we don't think he's gonna get anything out of it.
- 31:46Speaker 1: So Elko helped recruit a lot of those defensive players before he took off.
- 31:53Speaker 1: I think it would make a lot of sense for them to just go to Elko.
- 31:57Speaker 1: I think he could bring his staff from Duke right now and win as many games as Jimbo did, at least this year.
- 32:06Speaker 1: You know, I think he'll probably bring some some bring his quarterback.
- 32:10Speaker 1: Yeah, Well, he's got.
- 32:12Speaker 1: He's got better quarterbacks at Texas A&M.
- 32:14Speaker 1: If he, if they bring him in, if he can convince most of that roster to stay put, they have the pieces to be really good.
- 32:22Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just.
- 32:23Speaker 1: I mean, you watch him and it looks like Florida State did at the end of Jimbo's tenure when the guys were just going through the motions Like we're somewhat bought in.
- 32:32Speaker 1: But you know we got assigned promise notes every year, Stuff like that.
- 32:37Speaker 1: So I think Elko is a name, Couple other ones out there I'll tell you what don't be saying my Norbell.
- 32:46Speaker 1: No, I mean his name is going to come up just because of the job he's done, and I mean his agent is Jimmy Sexton.
- 32:52Speaker 1: Let's not get serious here.
- 32:55Speaker 1: Any big time job that's coming up from now in Mississippi.
- 33:00Speaker 2: State.
- 33:00Speaker 2: He represents every coach in America.
- 33:02Speaker 1: Don't be surprised if you see Mississippi State and his name mentioned with that.
- 33:06Speaker 1: At Arkansas they're likely to fire Sam Pittman.
- 33:09Speaker 1: His name will be floated out for that when his agent is Jimmy Sexton.
- 33:13Speaker 2: Use that to get a new contract.
- 33:15Speaker 1: Yeah, right now he's killing it at Florida State.
- 33:17Speaker 1: Don't be, FSU pays him 10 million, whatever dude.
- 33:22Speaker 1: But you see how it happens.
- 33:25Speaker 1: You set yourself up with success.
- 33:27Speaker 1: You got to continue to deliver or you're going to get shit.
- 33:31Speaker 2: Because they keep raising that dollar.
- 33:33Speaker 2: Are they ever going to stop?
- 33:35Speaker 2: I think what you have, this NIL, you're paying the players.
- 33:39Speaker 2: Now, when we are going to put a cap on how much we're paying these daggers and coaches, I mean there's no reason that Jimbo should be getting this much of that money.
- 33:47Speaker 2: He'd be not doing his job.
- 33:49Speaker 2: I mean he's worth it because he got it.
- 33:53Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, his isn't all-timer, but I mean that's just going to be the first of the next one you may see schools start to protect themselves a little better on the buyout.
- 34:04Speaker 1: But yeah, I don't think Florida State let's just play a little hypothetical on the way out If he were to go and leave for another job, Florida State is in a much better position now than they were when Jimbo took off.
- 34:17Speaker 2: Well, yeah Well.
- 34:20Speaker 2: You know what else we got tonight?
- 34:21Speaker 1: We got FSU Hoops tonight 2 and 0 baby At the.
- 34:24Speaker 2: DLT Double C.
- 34:25Speaker 1: Let's get it done 2 and 0 baby.
- 34:28Speaker 2: Looks like a new team man.
- 34:30Speaker 2: A bunch of junkyard dogs, maybe that's what they're going to have to do.
- 34:35Speaker 1: Addition by subtraction yeah.
- 34:36Speaker 2: I mean, that looks like it.
- 34:38Speaker 2: I didn't even see gamey play yet.
- 34:40Speaker 2: Now I think he might go check them out.
- 34:43Speaker 1: He was in the exhibition game there last one, we never know man.
- 34:47Speaker 2: They're bringing them back Well they need to play a lot of guys.
- 34:49Speaker 2: That's where Hamilton, that's when he's at his best Play some defense, you know.
- 34:55Speaker 1: Unselfish ball.
- 34:56Speaker 2: Unselfish ball.
- 34:57Speaker 2: Give it to the hot guy.
- 34:58Speaker 2: We got a guy in Bobba Miller that can get a shot off pretty much against anybody.
- 35:02Speaker 1: Yeah, you got a couple of sharpshooters, couple guys that can make it.
- 35:05Speaker 2: That's the goal is always to make the tournament NIT or something, but I would like to see a solid winning season for the NOLS.
- 35:11Speaker 2: We'll watch it, we'll react to it.
- 35:13Speaker 2: We'll talk to you next time Right here on the North Florida Sports Network.
- 35:20Speaker 3: Unrealized idea Unrealized.
- 35:26Speaker 1: We had to go, our ride was here, we got a shuttle tomorrow.
