Latest / The Cubby and Christine Morning Show / Cubby Says It's Time To Declutter
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Cubby, Christine, and producer Kristen. Christine, what do you have now?
- 0:04Speaker 2: I just want to reassure people who may have some
- 0:06Speaker 2: clutter in their homes. Hi, it's me. I'm the problem.
- 0:09Speaker 2: It's me. Because it can be disorienting and it can
- 0:12Speaker 2: be upsetting, Cubby, and we want to clear it out.
- 0:15Speaker 2: But according to psychologists, it's okay for some people because
- 0:21Speaker 2: they say the world is divided into two camps. There
- 0:23Speaker 2: are neat freaks and there are people who happily say
- 0:27Speaker 2: yes to the mess. A cluttered home can sometimes signal stress,
- 0:31Speaker 2: feeling overwhelmed, even depression. Yeah. This is what I'm understanding.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Because you feel like you're just behind it and you
- 0:36Speaker 1: can't catch up.
- 0:36Speaker 2: I just can't tackle it.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Right.
- 0:37Speaker 2: Right. It feels overwhelming. But there are the type B
- 0:41Speaker 2: personalities who are considered more laid back. And these people
- 0:45Speaker 2: care less about the perfect organization and more about creativities, ideas, experiences.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Researchers found tidy spaces tend to encourage people to follow
- 0:55Speaker 2: the rules and do what's expected... Messier spaces may actually
- 0:59Speaker 2: help people think more creatively and break away from convention.
- 1:02Speaker 2: So before you judge that pile of laundry on the chair,
- 1:05Speaker 2: remember it might not be clutter, it might be innovation.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Or as one famous psychoanalyst supposedly said, don't clean up
- 1:11Speaker 2: the mess, I know exactly where everything is. Which is
- 1:15Speaker 2: very true, by the way.
- 1:15Speaker 1: It's like people with a really bad desk. Yes.
- 1:17Speaker 2: They know where everything is. Don't move anything. It's my mess.
- 1:20Speaker 2: I know where everything is.
- 1:21Speaker 1: It's so funny you're talking about this because my wife
- 1:23Speaker 1: and I plan on doing the garage today. We've been
- 1:25Speaker 1: talking about it since Monday. That's exciting. It's been warm lately.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:29Speaker 1: So we're like that first cool day this week, we're
- 1:32Speaker 1: going to open both garage doors and organize the garage.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Today's the day.
- 1:36Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:36Speaker 1: So wish us luck.
- 1:37Speaker 2: I do wish you luck. Report back because maybe this
- 1:40Speaker 2: will inspire Eric and me to do the same thing.
- 1:43Speaker 1: It's a great day for cleaning out the garage. Sunshine
- 1:45Speaker 1: and a high of 68. Let's open the phones and
- 1:49Speaker 1: do a trivia battle. 1-800-222-1067. What's our prize?
- 1:53Speaker 2: We've got tickets to see Carly Rae Jepsen Saturday, May
- 1:56Speaker 2: 15th at Madison Square Garden. Tickets are on sale now
- 1:59Speaker 2: at Ticketmaster.com or you can give us a call.
- 2:02Speaker 1: We need two people to play.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Good luck.
