Transcript
- 0:02Speaker 1: Today's arriety big ninety eight point seven. It's Gabe and Angie.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Cloudy today, maybe some rain this afternoon and a high
- 0:08Speaker 1: of fifty two.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Gabe, I need your advice on something, just because I
- 0:18Speaker 2: think you've done this already and I haven't. I need
- 0:22Speaker 2: to get my real ID, and yes, I'm aware I'm
- 0:25Speaker 2: way past the deadline.
- 0:26Speaker 3: I have you really gotta get up.
- 0:28Speaker 2: I had like twenty years to get it, but I'm
- 0:32Speaker 2: going to be traveling by plane and I don't want
- 0:35Speaker 2: to have to be at the airport like ridiculously early,
- 0:39Speaker 2: and so I need to get my North Dakota Driver's license.
- 0:44Speaker 3: Yeah, and it has.
- 0:45Speaker 2: To be a real ID at the same time. But
- 0:47Speaker 2: I'm concerned because I don't know, Angie. You should have
- 0:51Speaker 2: looked into this already. I don't know. I'd rather just
- 0:53Speaker 2: ask you. I have to I have to get my license.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Do I need to take the driving test again? If
- 1:00Speaker 2: I'm transferring like an out of state license, do I
- 1:03Speaker 2: have to take?
- 1:03Speaker 1: Ah?
- 1:04Speaker 3: Yeah, you have so when you got yours you yep.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like right off of it's actually sort of
- 1:11Speaker 1: kind of by where we work. Off of thirteenth you
- 1:14Speaker 1: go to the Fargo driver's license SIGHTE. You schedule to
- 1:17Speaker 1: take the test, you drive around.
- 1:19Speaker 2: But I already have a license from somewhere else, and
- 1:22Speaker 2: I still have to.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Got to prove you can drive here. What so you
- 1:27Speaker 1: have a lot more work than you originally thought.
- 1:29Speaker 2: No, yeah, okay, so I I saw earliest available appointment
- 1:36Speaker 2: was June ninth, and I'm trying to fly on June thirteenth.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Well, you really better hope you pass that driver's test
- 1:42Speaker 1: on June ninth, because if you don't, they won't give
- 1:45Speaker 1: you the ID.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Gabe, this is terrible news. I'm not augh. It's not
- 1:50Speaker 2: that I'm a bad driver. It's that I get nervous
- 1:53Speaker 2: when someone else is in the car. And it took
- 1:56Speaker 2: when I originally got my license, it took me five times.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Well hopefully the sixth time is the charm heater. Yeah,
- 2:05Speaker 1: I was lucky. It didn't take me very long. It
- 2:07Speaker 1: was like twenty minutes driving around. Tim was with me.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Big shout out to Tim. He was really cool. And
- 2:12Speaker 1: you'll pass with flying colors. Just you know, make sure
- 2:14Speaker 1: you break and use your blinker.
- 2:16Speaker 2: I'm really no, I always use my blinker, gave. This
- 2:19Speaker 2: is the worst news I've heard in a long time.
- 2:22Speaker 2: I'm not a good drive. I'm not gonna pass this.
- 2:26Speaker 2: I'm really worried.
- 2:28Speaker 3: And you don't have to take the driver's test, I'm not.
- 2:32Speaker 3: You just go in, you do the You just go
- 2:35Speaker 3: in and you sign some stuff and they print it
- 2:37Speaker 3: out for you. You'll be fine.
- 2:40Speaker 2: You're so annoying, you're rude. Cabbage Patch kids, Tamagotchi's Furbies,
- 2:51Speaker 2: Tickle Me Elmo. These were all huge toy crazes, okay,
- 2:57Speaker 2: as we were growing up. And now this latest toy craze,
- 3:01Speaker 2: Beanie Babies another one, This latest toy craze. I don't
- 3:05Speaker 2: get it. I don't understand it, but I've been seeing
- 3:08Speaker 2: it all over my social media, not just kids, but
- 3:11Speaker 2: adults too. And they're called la booboo. Have you heard
- 3:17Speaker 2: of la boo boo?
- 3:18Speaker 3: La booboo?
- 3:19Speaker 1: Is that what uh French children say when they scrape
- 3:23Speaker 1: their knee?
- 3:24Speaker 3: They got a le boo boo? I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
- 3:31Speaker 2: I wow, you know what? And you were so quick
- 3:35Speaker 2: with it. I thought you were gonna tell me a
- 3:37Speaker 2: real thing.
- 3:38Speaker 3: I'm sorry. I couldn't helpened. I couldn't help it.
- 3:42Speaker 1: I do not know what a La Boo Boo is
- 3:44Speaker 1: uh I have It is weird how different our algorithms
- 3:48Speaker 1: are on the internet.
- 3:49Speaker 3: I have no idea what kids are of kids.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Well, La Boo boos are these weird they're monsters. They
- 3:55Speaker 2: have these creepy faces, but then they're in like these soft,
- 3:58Speaker 2: cuddly costumes. So it's like, I don't know how to describe.
- 4:03Speaker 2: They're just ugly but cute at the same time. But
- 4:06Speaker 2: apparently it's this whole thing that where they're also collectors items. Now,
- 4:11Speaker 2: remember when people collect we're collecting Beanie Baby.
- 4:13Speaker 1: My grandma had, I swear to goodness, hundreds of those
- 4:17Speaker 1: with the tag on them.
- 4:19Speaker 3: Yeah. I always hoped, you know, one day we're gonna
- 4:21Speaker 3: strike it rich.
- 4:22Speaker 2: No with Beanie unless it's the Princess Diana Beanie Baby,
- 4:26Speaker 2: like it's not worth anything. Well, these La Boo boos,
- 4:29Speaker 2: I guess they come also in these I can't the
- 4:32Speaker 2: lea Boo boo, but they come in these like mystery boxes.
- 4:36Speaker 2: You can get like a box of ten and then
- 4:39Speaker 2: hopefully like the latest coolest one shows up in this
- 4:43Speaker 2: La Boo Boo mystery pack. I don't know, but there's
- 4:46Speaker 2: a whole unboxing element to it a whole like trading thing.
- 4:50Speaker 2: And then I was looking on eBay and there are
- 4:53Speaker 2: some la boo boos, depending on what their little outfit is,
- 4:57Speaker 2: that are going for like five hundred dollars one thousand dollars.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Because it's like, I really want the laboo boo that
- 5:03Speaker 2: looks like a blae blue blue blue blue. I don't know.
- 5:05Speaker 2: The la boo boo is so strange to me, and
- 5:08Speaker 2: I just I want someone to explain it to me,
- 5:11Speaker 2: like I'm five, Like why is this the craze?
- 5:14Speaker 3: And I think we have this on Instagram right.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Yes, on Instagram and on Facebook. If you are into
- 5:19Speaker 2: la boo boos or your kids is into la boo boos,
- 5:23Speaker 2: what is so great about them? Seven oh one two
- 5:26Speaker 2: eight oh one ninety eight seven text us call us.
- 5:28Speaker 2: I need I need to know what la boo boo
- 5:31Speaker 2: is and not the French scraping of a child's meat.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Okay, I can only I can only picture a six
- 5:36Speaker 1: year old falling off his little bike.
- 5:38Speaker 3: I got a let boo boo like starting to show off.
- 5:45Speaker 1: On a positive note to Angie, do you have a
- 5:47Speaker 1: little victory?
- 5:48Speaker 2: I do, But by the way, if you have a
- 5:50Speaker 2: little victory you want to share with us seven oh
- 5:52Speaker 2: one too, Ato one ninety eight seven, we'd love to
- 5:54Speaker 2: hear from you. My little victory is that I did
- 5:59Speaker 2: all of the lug yesterday. And by all of the laundry,
- 6:02Speaker 2: I mean my laundry, my kid's laundry, all washed, dried, folded,
- 6:07Speaker 2: and put away, and all the sheets and the comforters
- 6:10Speaker 2: and the pillowcases.
- 6:11Speaker 3: To wow, all in one day.
- 6:14Speaker 2: I'm so surprised at myself and also very proud and smug.
- 6:17Speaker 1: That's like that everything shower, but the everything laundry.
- 6:20Speaker 2: Yes, exactly, Gabe, you get it.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Hey, thanks, all right, right on a little victory, I'll
- 6:26Speaker 1: tell you what I did. Go golfing with a coworker yesterday,
- 6:29Speaker 1: so I have a little golf bro buddy here in
- 6:30Speaker 1: the building, which was a lot of fun. Oh good,
- 6:33Speaker 1: big shout out to Gosh. I see, I don't even
- 6:36Speaker 1: remember the golf course, so I.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Thought you were going to try to think of our
- 6:39Speaker 2: coworker's name.
- 6:40Speaker 3: But you should know that Andy's a good dude.
- 6:44Speaker 1: But this is the actual, real little victory wed for
- 6:48Speaker 1: I feel like the first time in forever at the
- 6:50Speaker 1: glitten House did not have some weekend thing we had
- 6:52Speaker 1: to do also. Sure, yes, we since we moved, we
- 6:59Speaker 1: had the garage cleaned out enough to where both cars
- 7:02Speaker 1: could park it and you can walk around, and it
- 7:03Speaker 1: was fine. But on Saturday, after going to lunch with
- 7:06Speaker 1: a bunch of big ninety eight point seven people on
- 7:09Speaker 1: the station. Here, yeah, my wife and I reorganize, cleaned,
- 7:13Speaker 1: bought like these shelving units and stuff for the garage.
- 7:16Speaker 3: My garage.
- 7:18Speaker 1: You could if there was like the sun going through
- 7:21Speaker 1: the roof of the garage and you dropped an egg
- 7:24Speaker 1: on that bad boy, you could eat an egg out
- 7:27Speaker 1: of my garage right now. It is so clean and
- 7:30Speaker 1: pristine and organized, and it's gonna be even better today
- 7:34Speaker 1: after I get rid of a couple things bringing it
- 7:37Speaker 1: to the restore and more head. I mean, it really
- 7:39Speaker 1: is just gonna be a beautiful place to do nothing.
- 7:42Speaker 2: In, Gabe. Isn't that the thing here? When I moved
- 7:45Speaker 2: into my place, my property manager was like, the thing
- 7:48Speaker 2: here is hanging out in your garage in the summer.
- 7:52Speaker 3: Your driveway. Yeah, so you're ready, that's right.
- 7:56Speaker 1: I really feel like I've officially moved in now. Yes,
- 8:00Speaker 1: the way justin Bieber were also going to have the
- 8:02Speaker 1: tea coming up for you here on Big ninety eight
- 8:04Speaker 1: point seven. But yeah, Angie mentioned it, make sure you
- 8:06Speaker 1: share those little victories. We love hearing you know, something
- 8:08Speaker 1: positive from your weekend. It puts us also in a
- 8:11Speaker 1: great mood, you know, just to get the week started.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Here on Big ninety eight point seven, there were some
- 8:17Speaker 1: students that created a robot that can solve a Rubic's
- 8:23Speaker 1: cube in record time.
- 8:25Speaker 3: And you might be kind of going, well, what good
- 8:27Speaker 3: is that for humanity?
- 8:28Speaker 1: Well, it could really benefit maybe people who are having
- 8:31Speaker 1: surgery that is really invasive or really hard to do,
- 8:35Speaker 1: or something for a regular human that these robots might
- 8:38Speaker 1: be able at one point to evolve to be able
- 8:39Speaker 1: to do like surgeries for people.
- 8:41Speaker 3: That stuff for doctors. I don't know.
- 8:42Speaker 1: I don't know if I want a robot doing surgery
- 8:44Speaker 1: on me per se, but you know, there is some
- 8:47Speaker 1: benefit to that.
- 8:48Speaker 3: And I do not know.
- 8:50Speaker 1: If you are a puzzle person, If you're listening right
- 8:53Speaker 1: now and you're into brain puzzles, I have an interesting
- 8:56Speaker 1: question for you here, Angie, are you a brain puzzle
- 8:59Speaker 1: kind of person? I know you're uh, the escape rooms
- 9:02Speaker 1: aren't quite up your alley.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Yeah, if it's too much critical thinking. It's a no
- 9:06Speaker 2: from me, dog like, I can't do it. My brain
- 9:09Speaker 2: doesn't work that way. If it's like creative stuff, yes,
- 9:13Speaker 2: But if it's something where like my brain has to
- 9:16Speaker 2: put a puzzle together and use logic, no, I can't
- 9:19Speaker 2: do it.
- 9:20Speaker 3: It's like a game of chess, isn't for you? Probably?
- 9:22Speaker 2: No, I could do checkers.
- 9:26Speaker 1: I think I think I know the answer to this
- 9:29Speaker 1: question for you. I wanted to know if you had
- 9:33Speaker 1: these two options, which would you pick. Let me know
- 9:38Speaker 1: at seven oh one two eight zero one nine eight
- 9:41Speaker 1: seven if you had to spend one year in jail
- 9:47Speaker 1: or the second you saw a Rubik's Cube, you can leave.
- 9:54Speaker 3: What are you doing?
- 9:55Speaker 1: Do you think you could solve a Rubic's Cube in
- 9:57Speaker 1: one year or less?
- 10:00Speaker 2: Can I go the Game of Thrones route and do
- 10:02Speaker 2: trial by combat and then choose someone to.
- 10:05Speaker 3: Do the Rubik's Cube for me?
- 10:06Speaker 2: Because my friend's nine year old son, he can get
- 10:09Speaker 2: me out of there. Yeah, he can get me out
- 10:11Speaker 2: of there real quick. No, I guess I'm enjoying my
- 10:14Speaker 2: one year in jail.
- 10:16Speaker 3: You're two hots and a cut.
- 10:18Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. I'll work out. I'll eat bad food. I'll
- 10:22Speaker 2: lose some weight. I mean I would look good by
- 10:24Speaker 2: the time I got out.
- 10:25Speaker 3: Maybe that's the move, Sarah. What about you?
- 10:28Speaker 1: Can you solve a Rubics cube or are you doing
- 10:30Speaker 1: the jail thing? Are you good at Rubik's cubes?
- 10:32Speaker 2: Absolutely, I'm great at solving Rubik's cube puzzle, at least from.
- 10:36Speaker 3: A logic and pattern recognition standpoint.
- 10:39Speaker 2: I can guide you through the algorithm step by step,
- 10:41Speaker 2: no matter how scrambled it is.
- 10:43Speaker 3: Maybe you can phone Sarah as a friend.
- 10:46Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that she'll be my one phone call.
- 10:52Speaker 1: There were some students who created a robot that can
- 10:56Speaker 1: solve a Rubic's cube, which I think obviously brilliant students
- 10:59Speaker 1: to be able to do this. That's really cool. And
- 11:02Speaker 1: I like brain puzzles. This is one thing you might
- 11:05Speaker 1: not know about me, Angie. I'm really into chess. Oh
- 11:08Speaker 1: you're I love using that part of my brain. I
- 11:11Speaker 1: think Rubik's cubes are fun. You know, it's all like
- 11:14Speaker 1: just brain puzzles. I enjoy them.
- 11:16Speaker 2: We are opposite people, right.
- 11:18Speaker 1: I wanted to know then if you had to choose
- 11:21Speaker 1: between one of these two options three hundred and sixty
- 11:25Speaker 1: five days in jail, and then you just get out.
- 11:27Speaker 3: Yeah, you're out scot free.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Or you can leave jail the second you solve a
- 11:35Speaker 1: Rubik's cube. Which one are you choosing? Seven oh one
- 11:38Speaker 1: two eight zero one nine eight seven. We do have
- 11:41Speaker 1: some funny responses on Facebook.
- 11:44Speaker 3: Leanna.
- 11:44Speaker 1: She said, I could just as well take the year.
- 11:47Speaker 1: It would take me longer than that to solve the
- 11:49Speaker 1: Rubik's cube.
- 11:50Speaker 2: See a woman after my own heart. But Tara said,
- 11:55Speaker 2: give me the Rubik's cube. I cannot.
- 12:00Speaker 1: One part of this that I didn't really specify is like,
- 12:03Speaker 1: do you have.
- 12:03Speaker 3: The Internet in jail?
- 12:05Speaker 2: What do you mean?
- 12:06Speaker 1: You would just look up how to do it? And
- 12:08Speaker 1: there's a real life to help me. I stepped to
- 12:11Speaker 1: toornials for sure.
- 12:14Speaker 3: Excuse me.
- 12:15Speaker 1: We also had someone who said, one year, we stink
- 12:18Speaker 1: at those cubes.
- 12:19Speaker 3: Sadly, I feel bad for them.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Well, Ron said that he could get it done in
- 12:24Speaker 2: less than two minutes and we didn't go wrong, said
- 12:27Speaker 2: every man ever.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Okay, we do have Anthony on the phone. Anthony, what
- 12:37Speaker 1: about you? Are you taking the cube or the year
- 12:39Speaker 1: in jail? Are you good at Rubik's cubes?
- 12:41Speaker 4: I came really close to solving the family's rubikscube. When
- 12:44Speaker 4: I was in middle school.
- 12:45Speaker 2: But those last two or three squares were just impossible
- 12:48Speaker 2: for me to get into the right place.
- 12:50Speaker 4: Thinking about it still stresses me out.
- 12:53Speaker 2: Maybe I'll fare better than an adult, huh.
- 12:57Speaker 1: I don't know what I would do if you have
- 12:59Speaker 1: the If you have the Internet, you could get that
- 13:04Speaker 1: done in less than twenty four hours, for sure.
- 13:08Speaker 2: I don't know. The Internet is just like what's the
- 13:11Speaker 2: Wi Fi for jail? I don't know.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Today's variety Big ninety eight point seven. It's Gabe and Angie.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Cloudy today with a high of fifty two, maybe even
- 13:22Speaker 1: some rain this afternoon. And one thing you might not
- 13:25Speaker 1: know if you listen to Big ninety eight point seven
- 13:27Speaker 1: is we get We get emails sometimes, but people just
- 13:30Speaker 1: wanting to know, you know, what other people think, or
- 13:32Speaker 1: maybe they're asking for advice for certain things. And sometimes
- 13:36Speaker 1: we can we read them on the show. Sometimes we
- 13:38Speaker 1: can't read them on the show. But I think we're
- 13:42Speaker 1: gonna start collecting these and kind of doing something new
- 13:44Speaker 1: here every morning with something called am I the problem?
- 13:49Speaker 1: And we have one of those here today, The Problem.
- 13:55Speaker 2: Yes, Allison reached out to us, and I wanted to
- 13:58Speaker 2: read this one today because it's coming up really quickly,
- 14:02Speaker 2: she emailed us. My sister is pregnant with her fourth child,
- 14:06Speaker 2: the first girl in the family. She's having her baby
- 14:09Speaker 2: shower next week so family can fly in on a
- 14:12Speaker 2: three day weekend, but she's having the shower on my
- 14:15Speaker 2: actual birthday. I made plans well before she planned her shower,
- 14:20Speaker 2: and I told her I can't make it. She's upset
- 14:23Speaker 2: and says I'm selfish, But I think it's selfish to
- 14:26Speaker 2: have the event on my birthday. She keeps saying she
- 14:29Speaker 2: had to because of the three day weekend, but she's
- 14:32Speaker 2: not due for another two and a half months. I
- 14:35Speaker 2: think that's plenty of time for people to request time off,
- 14:39Speaker 2: and she can do it closer to her due date.
- 14:42Speaker 2: I've been to her previous three baby showers, but she
- 14:45Speaker 2: says this is a big deal because the baby is
- 14:48Speaker 2: the first girl. I don't know what to do. Am
- 14:51Speaker 2: I messed up?
- 14:52Speaker 1: If I don't go, wow, Well, there's multiple things. There
- 14:55Speaker 1: are multiple layers. I would say, Angie number one, not
- 14:59Speaker 1: messed up. Could not go Oh, you don't think it's
- 15:02Speaker 1: messed up? No, okay, not at all.
- 15:04Speaker 3: Now.
- 15:04Speaker 1: I love birthdays. I love my birthday all of those things.
- 15:07Speaker 1: But I will also say, Alison, what are you gonna
- 15:12Speaker 1: remember when you're eighty your niece's baby shower or your
- 15:16Speaker 1: insert whatever age birthday?
- 15:19Speaker 3: Oh?
- 15:19Speaker 2: You know what, that's a good way you'll look at it.
- 15:22Speaker 1: You'll always remember your niece or nephew or whatever's birthday
- 15:26Speaker 1: or baby shower.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Right, but this birthday would just be lumped in with
- 15:30Speaker 2: all the other birthdays.
- 15:31Speaker 3: In ask me what I did on my twenty sixth birthday?
- 15:35Speaker 3: What did you do on your clue? Not a clue?
- 15:40Speaker 2: Seven oh one two, eight oh one, ninety eight seven?
- 15:42Speaker 2: What do you think Allison should do? Is she the
- 15:45Speaker 2: problem if she doesn't go to her sister's baby shower
- 15:49Speaker 2: even though the baby shower lands on her actual birthday?
- 15:52Speaker 3: What would you do or what do you think? I?
- 15:56Speaker 2: Oh, my gosh, am I gonna are people gonna come
- 15:58Speaker 2: for me?
- 15:59Speaker 3: I really?
- 16:00Speaker 2: I love my birthday also, and I feel like I'm
- 16:04Speaker 2: with Alison on this one. I would just do I
- 16:07Speaker 2: already have plans, and then after I already made plans
- 16:10Speaker 2: for my birthday, you decided to choose that date, yeah,
- 16:13Speaker 2: to do your baby shower. I think that that's selfish
- 16:16Speaker 2: on her sister's part, Yeah.
- 16:18Speaker 3: When your sister's birthday is, you know, when your.
- 16:20Speaker 2: Sister's birthday is okay, And I get it because Memorial
- 16:23Speaker 2: Day weekend is a three day weekend, and I understand
- 16:25Speaker 2: why that would be easier, But like she said, it's
- 16:28Speaker 2: two and a half months right until the do date,
- 16:31Speaker 2: I feel like there's time for people to request off.
- 16:35Speaker 2: The only part that's like, oh is that it is
- 16:38Speaker 2: the first girl in the family, and I feel like
- 16:41Speaker 2: maybe that's kind of like a big deal. In my family,
- 16:44Speaker 2: it's the there's only one granddaughter sure, and there's like
- 16:48Speaker 2: nineteen boys or something like, and so I feel like
- 16:51Speaker 2: it's a big deal. But I don't know. I feel
- 16:53Speaker 2: like she should have moved it, but I feel like
- 16:56Speaker 2: it's too late right because the family's coming in. Yeah,
- 16:59Speaker 2: so I think her sister should just be like, I
- 17:01Speaker 2: guess you're.
- 17:02Speaker 3: Not going sister sister drama if you know, you know
- 17:11Speaker 3: the problem.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Allison wrote in asking for some advice. She wants to
- 17:16Speaker 2: know if she's the problem because she doesn't want to
- 17:19Speaker 2: go to her sister's baby shower. Her sister is having
- 17:22Speaker 2: her baby shower on Allison's birthday. She doesn't want to go.
- 17:26Speaker 2: She wants to know she's the problem for not wanting to.
- 17:29Speaker 2: We have Justin on the.
- 17:30Speaker 4: Line, Well, my wife and I might be like too
- 17:34Speaker 4: conservative and not want to be spoiled too much. When
- 17:37Speaker 4: we had just two kids, we didn't have a baby
- 17:41Speaker 4: shower for each kid. This is the fourth baby shower. Yeah,
- 17:47Speaker 4: this person, how much baby sift do you need?
- 17:51Speaker 2: Right? Okay? Because I always heard that you have the
- 17:53Speaker 2: baby shower for the first kid, and then when you
- 17:56Speaker 2: have the second, you do the sprinkle, So it's not
- 17:58Speaker 2: as big as a baby shower.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Just call spade a spade. It's a diaper get together.
- 18:03Speaker 1: They just need diapers.
- 18:04Speaker 2: Bro.
- 18:06Speaker 4: Still, I don't think they need to have a fourth one,
- 18:09Speaker 4: regardless if it's the first girl or not.
- 18:12Speaker 3: You know, there's so you who do you agree with
- 18:15Speaker 3: in this scenario?
- 18:16Speaker 4: You're I honestly think they say that's the baby shower
- 18:20Speaker 4: is being uber spoiled and needs to grow up and
- 18:25Speaker 4: this new era of finance responsibility to her family to
- 18:30Speaker 4: pay out for a whole bunch of crap that they
- 18:32Speaker 4: already have.
- 18:34Speaker 3: I justin had Justin said it.
- 18:36Speaker 2: We had a few people texting about this, and it
- 18:38Speaker 2: looks like they're mostly team Allison. Jennifer said, depends on
- 18:42Speaker 2: the birthday. Is it a big one? Also, why has
- 18:45Speaker 2: her sister had a baby shower for every child?
- 18:48Speaker 1: I didn't know this was a thing in the mother community. Yeah,
- 18:52Speaker 1: you're supposed to be a parenting community.
- 18:54Speaker 2: Yeah, you're supposed to have the baby shower for the
- 18:56Speaker 2: first one, and then if you have any kid after that,
- 18:59Speaker 2: you have what's called a sprinkle, And that's basically, can
- 19:02Speaker 2: y'all just bring me some diapers because you're supposed to
- 19:04Speaker 2: keep the stuff from the previous child.
- 19:06Speaker 3: Yeah, here's the thing.
- 19:07Speaker 2: I'm team Allison, but I will say I have two kids,
- 19:10Speaker 2: and I had a baby shower for each one.
- 19:22Speaker 1: This weekend, I took what is quite possibly the most
- 19:25Speaker 1: awkward lift I've ever taken in my life. Lyft uber
- 19:28Speaker 1: whatever one you use, and it's no fault to the
- 19:32Speaker 1: driver by any stretches. So what you do, game, Yes,
- 19:36Speaker 1: what I'm really doing is snitching on myself. Here, the
- 19:40Speaker 1: Big ninety eight point seven crew, we all hung out
- 19:43Speaker 1: this Saturday fun. It was you and me and Meghan
- 19:46Speaker 1: and James and we all went and got some lunch
- 19:48Speaker 1: and then went out for you know, a drink or
- 19:50Speaker 1: two at in a place by our neighborhood. Actual shout
- 19:54Speaker 1: out to Frank's. But I took a lift there. You know,
- 19:57Speaker 1: you just never know what's gonna happen. You want to
- 19:59Speaker 1: be safe, that's be responsible the whole nine yards. And
- 20:02Speaker 1: it's not that far of a car ride from my
- 20:04Speaker 1: house to Franks. But I take a lift, And I
- 20:08Speaker 1: tell you what, I am someone who gets in the
- 20:10Speaker 1: lyft drive the uber, and I am a talker.
- 20:13Speaker 3: I am gonna chitchat with this person.
- 20:15Speaker 1: I want them, I want them to feel like a human.
- 20:18Speaker 1: I know they're working, but I don't want them to
- 20:20Speaker 1: think like they're my limo driver. They're escorting me around
- 20:25Speaker 1: at where the drop of a hat. So I try to,
- 20:28Speaker 1: you know, make them feel like a person, like a human.
- 20:30Speaker 1: And this poor gentleman was not down to talk. So
- 20:35Speaker 1: after a handful of blocks, I've quickly realized this guy
- 20:38Speaker 1: wants nothing to do with me. So we just sat
- 20:41Speaker 1: there in silence for the however long the car ride
- 20:43Speaker 1: was to the bar.
- 20:44Speaker 2: And you thought that that was awkward, the.
- 20:45Speaker 3: Most awkward thing of my life.
- 20:47Speaker 2: You so you're someone who does not do well with
- 20:50Speaker 2: just silent.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Well, yeah, and I wonder if part of it is
- 20:53Speaker 1: like this job. You know, when there's dead air, that's
- 20:55Speaker 1: when I get uncomfortable.
- 20:56Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, that makes sense.
- 20:58Speaker 1: But yeah that I am not one of those people
- 21:01Speaker 1: who can just sit in silence and like enjoy the moment.
- 21:04Speaker 1: I mean, that's not all always true, but you know,
- 21:07Speaker 1: I don't want this guy to feel like he's chauffeurring
- 21:09Speaker 1: me around.
- 21:10Speaker 3: I'm trying to say.
- 21:11Speaker 2: I mean, but that's literally his job.
- 21:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I just it feels weird to me.
- 21:16Speaker 2: I love a silent Uber really. Yeah, I will traded
- 21:20Speaker 2: places with you because what always happens to me is
- 21:22Speaker 2: that even in the app itself, and you took a lift,
- 21:25Speaker 2: so I don't know if this is different in the
- 21:27Speaker 2: Uber app, but you can click like I want a
- 21:30Speaker 2: quiet ride, like I don't want to talk to me. Yeah,
- 21:34Speaker 2: but every time I hit that, it's like the Uber
- 21:36Speaker 2: driver season and thinks, oh, talk a lot and tell
- 21:39Speaker 2: her my whole life story, and so they always And
- 21:42Speaker 2: then the reason I like the silence is because I'm
- 21:45Speaker 2: not a good small talker. I clearly yap all day
- 21:50Speaker 2: on air, but I by the time I'm just in
- 21:52Speaker 2: the car, let's let's be quiet. Okay, let's be calm.
- 21:56Speaker 3: Fair enough. Well, we have Jake online. Jake, what about you?
- 21:59Speaker 1: Are you someone who talks in the uber or the
- 22:01Speaker 1: lyft or whatever ride share you're using.
- 22:03Speaker 4: I always talk to drivers in a ride chair at
- 22:05Speaker 4: least the hello or how's.
- 22:07Speaker 1: Your day going?
- 22:08Speaker 4: And then if they seem cool and open a chatting
- 22:10Speaker 4: with all talk sports or top culture.
- 22:13Speaker 3: Whatever, just to pass the time.
- 22:14Speaker 4: It makes to ride more fun. If they just want
- 22:17Speaker 4: to focus on the road, I'm totally cool with that.
- 22:20Speaker 2: That.
- 22:20Speaker 3: I hate if you can't.
- 22:21Speaker 1: If you can't focus on the road and chit chat
- 22:24Speaker 1: with me, I don't know if you should have your license? Wow, Dube,
- 22:30Speaker 1: I'm just kidding.
- 22:30Speaker 3: God, Kim, what about you? Are you talking in the
- 22:32Speaker 3: uber or the lyft?
- 22:34Speaker 1: Oh? I never talk to drivers in a ride chair.
- 22:36Speaker 2: I give a polite.
- 22:37Speaker 4: Nod and plug in my headphones even if nothing's playing.
- 22:41Speaker 3: That's so, it's just so rats to me.
- 22:42Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it's not. She's my vibe, a woman after
- 22:45Speaker 2: my own heart.
- 22:46Speaker 1: It's like being at the counter and you're on your
- 22:48Speaker 1: phone checking out at like the gas sting. Oh, I
- 22:51Speaker 1: don't believe in doing that. Sure, I don't know, I
- 22:55Speaker 1: just feels so strange to me. Who knows, Maybe I'm
- 22:57Speaker 1: dead wrong. Let me know, are you someone who would
- 22:59Speaker 1: rather talk to the uber lift driver or are you
- 23:01Speaker 1: riding in dead silence? Seven one eight zero one to
- 23:05Speaker 1: nine eight seven Tiper gabs good news of the day
- 23:12Speaker 1: And I love stories like this for multiple reasons. But
- 23:16Speaker 1: there is a dry cleaning service that is offering free
- 23:21Speaker 1: cleaning services to those who are unemployed and preparing for
- 23:26Speaker 1: a job interview. So if they are, you know, they
- 23:29Speaker 1: go to wherever they can get a suit and it
- 23:31Speaker 1: needs to be cleaned and whatever, they will allow those
- 23:34Speaker 1: people to do them for free. The man who launched
- 23:37Speaker 1: this is named is Ali and it's an initiative to
- 23:41Speaker 1: those who are ever affected by layoffs you know happen
- 23:45Speaker 1: every single day. And since opening the business in twenty ten,
- 23:48Speaker 1: he's gone to great lengths to support both customers and employees,
- 23:53Speaker 1: including working with local homeless shelters. His shop handles five
- 23:56Speaker 1: to ten free cleanings weekly and continues to be recognized
- 24:01Speaker 1: for its fast, community driven service.
- 24:03Speaker 2: I love this. This is so sweet.
- 24:05Speaker 3: Yeah, and you hear other things about this.
- 24:07Speaker 1: There's a you know sometimes you hear about like barbers
- 24:09Speaker 1: or something who will help those who are homeless get
- 24:11Speaker 1: a haircut and get you know, their beard trimmed or
- 24:14Speaker 1: their hair done, or whatever the case may be. And
- 24:16Speaker 1: I just think it's really cool for those who want
- 24:18Speaker 1: to help out people who are, you know, maybe down
- 24:20Speaker 1: on their luck or just struggling.
- 24:21Speaker 3: And it's nice to know that.
- 24:23Speaker 1: The saying I always kind of end this eight o'clock
- 24:25Speaker 1: hour with is very true. And it's stories like this
- 24:27Speaker 1: that remind me of that.
- 24:29Speaker 2: I agree wholeheartedly, and especially they're trying to help themselves,
- 24:33Speaker 2: you know what I mean, and that can be difficult,
- 24:35Speaker 2: so it's nice when someone steps in and also gives
- 24:38Speaker 2: you a hand.
- 24:38Speaker 3: That's right.
- 24:39Speaker 1: The world is full of nice people. If you can't
- 24:41Speaker 1: find one, you gotta be one.
