- Lucas: Ciao, Luna! Ready for another walk in the park? Luna: Ciao, Lucas! Always. I love the park. What are we learning today? Lucas: Today we're going to meet a dog. You know, in Italian, 'the dog' is 'il cane.' Luna: Il cane. Okay, that's pretty straightforward. Lucas: Exactly. Let's start with that. Repeat after me: il cane. Luna: Il cane. Lucas: Good. Now, if the dog is friendly, you can say 'il cane è simpatico.' 'Simpatico' means nice or friendly. Luna: Il cane è simpatico. That's cute. Lucas: It is. And if you see the dog running, you say 'il cane corre.' 'Corre' means runs. Luna: Il cane corre. I can picture it. Lucas: Sometimes the dog barks. 'Il cane abbaia' — the dog barks. Luna: Il cane abbaia. That's a good one. Lucas: And if you see a really nice dog, you can exclaim 'che bel cane!' — what a beautiful dog! Luna: Oh, I love that. Che bel cane! Then I could say 'Il cane è simpatico.' Lucas: Perfect. And now it starts running: 'Il cane corre.' Luna: Il cane corre. Yes, I see it! Lucas: And then it barks: 'Il cane abbaia.' Luna: Il cane abbaia. What a lively dog. Lucas: You can say 'che bel cane!' when you see it. Luna: Che bel cane! Absolutely. Lucas: Let's do a little scene. You and I are at the park. You see a dog. What do you say? Luna: Guarda! Un cane! Il cane è simpatico. Lucas: Then it runs: 'Il cane corre.' Luna: Il cane corre. E poi abbaia. Lucas: Yes! 'Il cane abbaia.' And you? Luna: Che bel cane!
