- 0:14Speaker 1: I don't mind carrying any drug that you can ingest.
- 0:18Speaker 1: That is like an immediate no problem. It's like the
- 0:21Speaker 1: instant solving of the I don't want to we're getting
- 0:24Speaker 1: pull over, we're stressed out. I could solve the pucking.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Let's everybody just split the pack in half, right, and
- 0:29Speaker 1: we're fucking We're all gonna be high, nobody's going to jail,
- 0:32Speaker 1: and we're gonna have a wild afternoon. We didn't expect,
- 0:34Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, Those are the best ones.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Have you done that where you've eaten drugs before you
- 0:37Speaker 1: get pulled over? Yes, before the cops? Even I never
- 0:40Speaker 1: I didn't even get whipped one time. He just followed
- 0:42Speaker 1: me for so long. He took some fucking trooms. Oh wow,
- 0:46Speaker 1: it took like a fucking whole fucking eighth. I mean
- 0:49Speaker 1: a whole fucking quarter. I like did the journey dog.
- 0:51Speaker 1: I was just like, I was like, he followed me
- 0:53Speaker 1: for like twelve minutes. I was like, he's whipping me
- 0:55Speaker 1: at any moment, dude, I don't want to be caught
- 0:57Speaker 1: scrambling when he does, so I just and somen of
- 1:01Speaker 1: a bitch just bangs a hard left on me, like
- 1:02Speaker 1: he watched me take him like, Hahi, Patty, have a
- 1:05Speaker 1: good afternoon, bitch. Aren't those the best highs? Though? They're
- 1:09Speaker 1: like the best drunks, Like when you go somewhere and
- 1:13Speaker 1: you're like, I'm not gonna get drunk tonight, and at
- 1:16Speaker 1: that this morning, you got drunk this morning? Yep, Yes,
- 1:19Speaker 1: at seven fifteen this morning. You want to hear this story? Yeah,
- 1:21Speaker 1: best story ever. We go get on our plane this morning.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Our plane leaves at seven fifteen this morning. I'm on
- 1:26Speaker 1: like two or three hours of sleep. I am. I
- 1:29Speaker 1: hate flying. You've been a little sick too, I saw
- 1:31Speaker 1: I've been a little under the weather. I'm starting to
- 1:33Speaker 1: feel better because I took a steroid pack. I sit
- 1:35Speaker 1: down on the plane and the dude next to me
- 1:38Speaker 1: is just cool as fuck. And as soon as I
- 1:40Speaker 1: sit down. I'm joking. I get on the plane. I'm like,
- 1:42Speaker 1: you're lucky contest the number one. You get the fat
- 1:44Speaker 1: guy next to you today. I know that's what he's thinking,
- 1:46Speaker 1: right when I'm standing in the aisle. Tell me it's
- 1:48Speaker 1: not a plane full of people gonna please not me,
- 1:50Speaker 1: not please, not me. And I'm like and I'm like,
- 1:54Speaker 1: you're it, buddy, I'm your guy. And I sit down
- 1:57Speaker 1: next to him, and across from us is a night couple.
- 2:01Speaker 1: They're gay couple, really nice couple. They're cool, they're in it.
- 2:04Speaker 1: We're all engaging. We got a little thing going on
- 2:06Speaker 1: this row. And before the plane takes off, the flight
- 2:09Speaker 1: attendant's like, anybody want to drink? Us was a long
- 2:12Speaker 1: flight and I was like, yeah, I'll tell you got tequila.
- 2:16Speaker 1: He's like, well, I got the margarita shooters. So it's like,
- 2:19Speaker 1: you know. He pours me a big, nice margarita. I
- 2:21Speaker 1: smack it. Do next to me smacks a vodka and soda.
- 2:24Speaker 1: This is seven seventeen, this morning, flights leaving at seven twenty.
- 2:28Speaker 1: We're drinking before the door shut on the plane. The
- 2:30Speaker 1: two dudes next to them, we're like, they get hype
- 2:33Speaker 1: They're just like, well they're doing it, we'll do it.
- 2:35Speaker 1: So the two dudes are like, fucking bring us to
- 2:37Speaker 1: vodka sodas. You know how most times you would have
- 2:41Speaker 1: a flight attendant who like his job is to kind
- 2:44Speaker 1: of party police what's happening. We had the opposite flight attendant.
- 2:48Speaker 1: He was a goddamn bartender. He would walk over and
- 2:51Speaker 1: be like, are we drinking or do I need to
- 2:53Speaker 1: twist an arm here or something? Fellas like gassing us up.
- 2:56Speaker 1: We're like, fucking last week got the job. Yeah, It's
- 2:58Speaker 1: like and I did find out he's getting off for
- 3:00Speaker 1: four days. So he's like, brings us another drink. Now
- 3:03Speaker 1: we've just got to the seat belts off and I'm too.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Marguerite's in. I don't drink vodka. I just drink tequilak.
- 3:10Speaker 1: The guy goes, I'm like, mask, give me into gesture. Man.
- 3:13Speaker 1: He was like the gay dude, sweetest dude on earth,
- 3:16Speaker 1: goes all big Papa, I got you. Just follow me.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Do what you did for me. It was a no vodka,
- 3:20Speaker 1: throw a splash of soda. He won't even notice of
- 3:22Speaker 1: the common stomach down. It'll be the best thing to
- 3:24Speaker 1: happened to him. These dudes start getting me fucked up.
- 3:27Speaker 1: We smacked like six vodkas. This dude was like giving
- 3:30Speaker 1: us last call before we dropped. When we're descending, he's like,
- 3:34Speaker 1: I can legally give y'all one more. What do you think?
- 3:36Speaker 1: And everybody's like hooray. At this point, we're all blackout drunk.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Almost the two dudes behind the couple are drinking with us.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Now there's another girl behind them that's participating. Like the
- 3:47Speaker 1: entire front half of the plane is now getting just wrecked.
- 3:50Speaker 1: This is amazing. It's dude. I pulled in like, I
- 3:53Speaker 1: don't remember anything about getting to where we're staying at,
- 3:57Speaker 1: any of the sequences that happened, from how we get there,
- 4:00Speaker 1: who drove us, We came and ate a big breakfast,
- 4:03Speaker 1: and I kind of got back on my feet. I
- 4:05Speaker 1: was just sitting at the hotel pounding water when I
- 4:07Speaker 1: got your text and I was like, I'm almost sobered
- 4:10Speaker 1: up enough to go do this podcast. Well you're here.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Yeah that sounds like a great morning man. Is that
- 4:15Speaker 1: not the best buzzes though? Yeah? For sure. I feel
- 4:18Speaker 1: like unexpected nights are unexpected, Like I feel like when
- 4:21Speaker 1: you go out and you're like I'm getting sucked up tonight.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Usually those are the nights you end up like regretting. Yeah,
- 4:27Speaker 1: you're like, oh fuck, wake up with a bad hangover,
- 4:30Speaker 1: do some dumb shit exactly. But when you have no
- 4:33Speaker 1: when you don't plan on getting drunk with you know,
- 4:37Speaker 1: a couple of gay guys in first class and just
- 4:39Speaker 1: get smacked. Yeah, oh we love each other. Now we're
- 4:42Speaker 1: texting each other. We're gonna go to dinner when we
- 4:44Speaker 1: all get back to Nashville. We're like friends, nice, this
- 4:46Speaker 1: is awesome. How's uh, how's how's everything with the family,
- 4:49Speaker 1: how's the wifey? And she's killing her podcast, going crazy rushing.
- 4:52Speaker 1: We should call the dumb blonde podcast dumb blonde podcast.
- 4:55Speaker 1: We should have set it up for you to do
- 4:56Speaker 1: it while she was here. Yeah, she's killing it. She's
- 4:59Speaker 1: she's really crushed. Man. She was actually in Vegas this
- 5:01Speaker 1: whole week doing doing pods. So she just came over
- 5:04Speaker 1: to LA and met me today nine. But yesterday I
- 5:07Speaker 1: think she got her day before me to shop or
- 5:09Speaker 1: some ship. But are you like, uh, because I know,
- 5:14Speaker 1: was it about two years she's been doing it? Yeah,
- 5:16Speaker 1: she's the pandemic kind of triggered it. And you're just
- 5:20Speaker 1: kind of like you're like the unofficial like guest like
- 5:22Speaker 1: guest host. Yeah, whenever, yeah, just whenever. You know what's crazy.
- 5:26Speaker 1: The bitch is so popular now she don't need me.
- 5:28Speaker 1: When she first started potting and I was like I
- 5:29Speaker 1: would just fill in kind of whenever. And now I'm like,
- 5:32Speaker 1: can I get on your podcast? And I need a plug.
- 5:35Speaker 1: I got a record coming out, I like, got some
- 5:37Speaker 1: shit going on I need to talk about. I got
- 5:39Speaker 1: like pencil me in so jelly, things are going well.
- 5:44Speaker 1: You got Jimmy Kimmel tomorrow. I got Jimmy Kimmel. Dad.
- 5:47Speaker 1: By the time this is out, I don't know. Yeah,
- 5:49Speaker 1: by the time this is out, he'll be on You'll
- 5:51Speaker 1: be able to go on YouTube or look on some
- 5:54Speaker 1: yeah for sure. Uh yeah. How many plaques do we
- 5:57Speaker 1: got now the last couple of years? Save me Platinum? Right,
- 6:00Speaker 1: save Me's platinum, Falling the Falls gold, Creature's gold. Same
- 6:06Speaker 1: asshole just got its certification. I think to be gold.
- 6:11Speaker 1: I think the uh way then Willie two albums close
- 6:15Speaker 1: to being gold is the whole record wow, And I
- 6:18Speaker 1: think a beautiful disaster is closing in on it because
- 6:21Speaker 1: we've got like two more records off a Beautiful Disaster
- 6:23Speaker 1: that are closed to gold and right now you just
- 6:26Speaker 1: got this trying to look like this fucking place in here, Bubba,
- 6:29Speaker 1: it's happening well. For people who don't know you, let's
- 6:32Speaker 1: give them a rundown. I've known you for about eight
- 6:35Speaker 1: nine years, but you are like a veteran for real
- 6:41Speaker 1: in this music shit. You have had many incarnations of
- 6:44Speaker 1: your career. You've had to go sit down for a
- 6:47Speaker 1: little bit. Yeah, get back out, but let's break down, like,
- 6:50Speaker 1: how long have you been doing this shit? Like, I
- 6:54Speaker 1: guess how long have you been making money off of
- 6:55Speaker 1: because you started off. I mean, obviously you still do rapping,
- 6:58Speaker 1: but you're kind of like people are kind of being
- 7:01Speaker 1: introduced to you as a country guy. Yeah, yes, you've
- 7:04Speaker 1: been doing this for a long time. Yeah. I had
- 7:06Speaker 1: an interesting thing happened to me just today, a guy
- 7:10Speaker 1: seeing me out in Hollywood, and he was like, YO,
- 7:14Speaker 1: heard your song dead Man Walking on rock radio. I
- 7:16Speaker 1: became a fan. I love your stuff. I identified to
- 7:20Speaker 1: him as a rock artist mm HM, which went number one, right, yeah,
- 7:24Speaker 1: went number one for multiple weeks, my first number one.
- 7:26Speaker 1: And then you fast forward in the airport in Nashville today.
- 7:32Speaker 1: I'm taking a picture with a couple at six forty
- 7:35Speaker 1: five this morning. Then when somebody goes back and goes,
- 7:37Speaker 1: who's that, and he goes, he's a country artist, you know.
- 7:40Speaker 1: But then it's like, I'm hanging out with Bootleg Keg.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Who knows I'm a rapper? Right? You know? It's so funny.
- 7:44Speaker 1: When we were pulling up all my guys have been
- 7:46Speaker 1: with me a long time. You knew a couple of them,
- 7:48Speaker 1: and I don't know why I didn't tell them where
- 7:50Speaker 1: we were going. I was like, yeah, we're just going
- 7:51Speaker 1: to do a podcast. We pull up them like, Yo,
- 7:52Speaker 1: we're going to do We're going to see Bootleg Kevin.
- 7:54Speaker 1: I was like, that's the fucking home. He's been following
- 7:56Speaker 1: me for seven years because we met each other, you know,
- 7:59Speaker 1: and it was just super cool to see that. So, yeah,
- 8:01Speaker 1: it's been weird. We're kind of a format agnostic, that
- 8:04Speaker 1: is true. But what was like for you, like, how
- 8:06Speaker 1: many years in is this? You did it? What do
- 8:09Speaker 1: you mean you did it? You see that you look
- 8:12Speaker 1: at him smiling, he knows it, you did it. You remember,
- 8:15Speaker 1: we're eating tacos outside of Saint Tacos. Sat Pete Floyda
- 8:20Speaker 1: and Saint Pete Florida, And yeah, I was out here
- 8:24Speaker 1: in l A doing the doing this, doing a shimmy
- 8:27Speaker 1: shuck at the time and trying to figure it out.
- 8:29Speaker 1: And I'd had the record Sunday Morning yep, before Uncle
- 8:32Speaker 1: Cracker was before Uncle Cracker was on, when it was
- 8:34Speaker 1: just an acoustics trip down record, and you were like,
- 8:37Speaker 1: what the fuck are you doing? You was like, go all,
- 8:40Speaker 1: you just like started preaching to me at this little
- 8:42Speaker 1: taco bus and you were like, bet the farm on
- 8:45Speaker 1: this ship, this is what you need to do, this
- 8:48Speaker 1: is it, this is you were just like ringing it home.
- 8:50Speaker 1: I can't remember Rich was with us that time or not,
- 8:52Speaker 1: but I know we've seen Rich in the same circuit
- 8:54Speaker 1: around that time. And I was like I left there
- 8:57Speaker 1: thinking like, all right, fuck it, I want to just
- 9:00Speaker 1: an idea. I just went all the way in. Yeah,
- 9:03Speaker 1: that Sunday Morning record was crazy. It's still crazy. I
- 9:05Speaker 1: wanted to do it so fire. I love that song.
- 9:07Speaker 1: It's yeah, I like the like the O G version
- 9:10Speaker 1: that you would just play me. No, for sure, it
- 9:12Speaker 1: was like a real it was unplugged right, It was
- 9:16Speaker 1: like just literally brought it, I mean saved me, Yeah,
- 9:18Speaker 1: for sure, exactly. Literally, I got something I played before
- 9:22Speaker 1: we leave. I got I want to play I'm so
- 9:23Speaker 1: excited about I bet. Yeah. That was like in twenty
- 9:26Speaker 1: That was like twenty fourteen. That was like when you
- 9:29Speaker 1: what was the name of that white dude would always
- 9:30Speaker 1: book all y'all in Saint Pete Fuck keV, Big kevog cav. Yeah,
- 9:35Speaker 1: I just seen Big keV when we went down there
- 9:36Speaker 1: and played, uh, what was the rock Fest? We played
- 9:41Speaker 1: the rockyuad They're gonna hate me. Fucking forgive me, y'all.
- 9:43Speaker 1: I'm hungover. I'm day hungover. It's different. Yeah, it's so
- 9:47Speaker 1: different when you got drunk at nine am. But we
- 9:51Speaker 1: played No No No that We played that one after that.
- 9:54Speaker 1: But it was the Tampa Rock Station. Yeah, it's rock
- 9:58Speaker 1: Fest or something whatever the name of that station was
- 10:00Speaker 1: down there in Tampa. The rock station. Fucking anybody should know.
- 10:02Speaker 1: You should know what's name. It's only rock station something
- 10:05Speaker 1: X ninety eight X. I think yeah, X might have
- 10:07Speaker 1: been X fast or something like that. That sounds about right. Yeah, whatever,
- 10:11Speaker 1: a Ryan, we kicked it. We had a ball. But anyways, Yeah,
- 10:14Speaker 1: I just I've just seen big Kevvy came out to
- 10:16Speaker 1: see us, sir, But like I want to kind of
- 10:18Speaker 1: give people like a real idea of like how long
- 10:21Speaker 1: this journey has been for you, because like you were
- 10:24Speaker 1: also independently very successful before you and I met, you
- 10:31Speaker 1: had a following. You know what I'm saying, Like, this
- 10:33Speaker 1: ship is very it feels like what it is like
- 10:37Speaker 1: twenty years in Yoh, for sure. I realized how old
- 10:40Speaker 1: I was listening to you and Caskie's podcast when Caski,
- 10:44Speaker 1: who's a dude that's been around for a long time now,
- 10:46Speaker 1: referenced me as the first dude he did a song with. Yeah,
- 10:49Speaker 1: and I was like, I am fucking old. I was like,
- 10:52Speaker 1: it's happened. I became home, you know what I'm saying. Yeah,
- 10:56Speaker 1: Cassie's been around a long time. Yeah. Yeah, So what
- 11:00Speaker 1: was like, you do you remember, like what was the
- 11:01Speaker 1: first project? What was that year I came I got
- 11:05Speaker 1: released from jail the last time that I had to
- 11:07Speaker 1: do a bid in two thousand and nine, and I
- 11:12Speaker 1: put out the ten minute freestyle which we were talking
- 11:14Speaker 1: about off camera that if my po ask I hang Drywall,
- 11:17Speaker 1: which we still sell those shirts on jelly Roll six
- 11:20Speaker 1: one five dot com and I remember putting it on YouTube.
- 11:25Speaker 1: My dude had a flipcam chat arms. Yeah. I just
- 11:28Speaker 1: was watching the YouTube video like two weeks ago. Yeah. Well,
- 11:30Speaker 1: we didn't realize the power of YouTube now, mind you.
- 11:33Speaker 1: I was putting out mixtapes while I was in and
- 11:35Speaker 1: out of jail before that old school CD spindles. You
- 11:39Speaker 1: were part of this era, like we're running around passing
- 11:41Speaker 1: out five dollars like straight off the spindle, handwritten jelly roll, right.
- 11:47Speaker 1: So I did that and then my introduction to the
- 11:49Speaker 1: internet was about two thousand and nine and he filmed
- 11:54Speaker 1: that ten minute freestyle and uploaded it and it went crazy,
- 11:59Speaker 1: especially for that era because then me and Little White
- 12:02Speaker 1: ended up doing Pop Another Pill because White it reached
- 12:04Speaker 1: out to me right after I got out of jail,
- 12:06Speaker 1: and then we did the Snow project with JUICYJ and
- 12:08Speaker 1: DJ Poulin Project Pad, and we had all that history
- 12:11Speaker 1: with three six Mafia at that time and all that
- 12:14Speaker 1: stuff we were doing. And I remember me and Little
- 12:17Speaker 1: White as shots popping another pill video of Mike Busy
- 12:19Speaker 1: and Panama City Beach. This is back when World Star
- 12:23Speaker 1: hip Hop was god right. We submitted it to World
- 12:27Speaker 1: Star Hip Hop and I'll never forget this. They said, hey, man,
- 12:30Speaker 1: we only post videos that go viral. First time I
- 12:32Speaker 1: heard the word viral, and we were like, well, define viral.
- 12:35Speaker 1: And in the email back they said, thirty thousand views
- 12:38Speaker 1: in a week on YouTube. That's it. That's how inf
- 12:41Speaker 1: You still had to go to a desktop computer and
- 12:44Speaker 1: type in www dot YouTube dot com. Yeah, you know
- 12:48Speaker 1: what I'm saying. So it's like it was in such
- 12:51Speaker 1: its infante stages that we ended up doing fifty thousand
- 12:54Speaker 1: views in three days. So they put it on World
- 12:55Speaker 1: Star and that was the beginning of that. That was
- 12:59Speaker 1: like one of my first eraors. You know what I'm saying. Damn,
- 13:02Speaker 1: I feel like post jail. If you don't count like
- 13:04Speaker 1: the seven mixtapes I did, how long were you in jail?
- 13:08Speaker 1: Every time was a different amount of time, from fourteen
- 13:11Speaker 1: to twenty four, probably seven and a half to eight years. Shit,
- 13:14Speaker 1: So just kind of in and out. Do a year,
- 13:17Speaker 1: come home for six months, do a year, come home
- 13:19Speaker 1: for four months, dude, drug shit, everything from you know,
- 13:22Speaker 1: I don't I'm not proud of any of it. It's
- 13:26Speaker 1: public information, so well it's a good thing, you know. Yeah,
- 13:28Speaker 1: But everything from gun charges, the drugs to a robbery case.
- 13:31Speaker 1: Do you remember, like what, because you know you know
- 13:34Speaker 1: people like this. I know people like this that have potential,
- 13:36Speaker 1: that are talented, but for whatever reason, they just get
- 13:39Speaker 1: stuck in that back into jail. It the revolving door
- 13:42Speaker 1: of the judicial system. Like what was the breaking point
- 13:44Speaker 1: for you where you were like, Nah, this is enough,
- 13:47Speaker 1: I gotta get my shit on track. It's so cool
- 13:49Speaker 1: talking to you because we know each other so personally,
- 13:51Speaker 1: you know. But it was my daughter Bailey was born
- 13:55Speaker 1: in two thousand and eight, so one of those times
- 13:57Speaker 1: where I was out of jail, I had gotten a
- 13:58Speaker 1: young woman pregnant, okay, and then Bailey was born while
- 14:01Speaker 1: I was in jail. And then the old Southern Baptist
- 14:05Speaker 1: term that was my Damascus Road experience where Saul turned
- 14:08Speaker 1: to Paul. I'll never forget. I was in like the
- 14:11Speaker 1: gang unit, like the like worst dorm you could be
- 14:13Speaker 1: in in jail at the time because I was just
- 14:16Speaker 1: running the poker table and gambling and not you know,
- 14:18Speaker 1: I was just fucking doing time. And the day they
- 14:20Speaker 1: knocked on my door and told me Bailey was born,
- 14:22Speaker 1: I signed up to go to the education unit try
- 14:25Speaker 1: to get my ged I don't know what, just like
- 14:27Speaker 1: I scrambled out of nowhere. I was just like, I
- 14:29Speaker 1: got to figure this shit out right now. And I
- 14:31Speaker 1: ended up having to do like another year. But whenever
- 14:33Speaker 1: I came home, you know, that was it. We started
- 14:37Speaker 1: off to the races. Yo. Uh you're like, uh, you know,
- 14:41Speaker 1: I feel like the Rock taps in with a lot
- 14:45Speaker 1: of artists that I happened to know, but he really
- 14:47Speaker 1: fucks with you. It's my dude, Rock has been fucking
- 14:50Speaker 1: with you like for like five six years now. It's crazy,
- 14:54Speaker 1: like he posts your ship all the time, all the time.
- 14:57Speaker 1: He is just he's a Nashville dude at heart. Low key.
- 15:01Speaker 1: He's like he traveled so much as a child that
- 15:05Speaker 1: he has a lot of places he's really connected with,
- 15:07Speaker 1: and by luck of the Beast, Nashville is one of them.
- 15:11Speaker 1: So he really kind of connects to our scene and culture.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Like he gets guys like me. And he told me early,
- 15:17Speaker 1: he was like, yo, I know guys like you from Nashville.
- 15:20Speaker 1: So man, you had this talk early, like Nashville was
- 15:23Speaker 1: kind of famous for that white boy trap rap shit. Yeah,
- 15:26Speaker 1: it was like yourself was Haystack from for sure, Nashville boy,
- 15:29Speaker 1: he was ahead of us. Haystack kind of led the
- 15:31Speaker 1: charge on that, and there was so many you know,
- 15:34Speaker 1: we had a band before Haystack called rud Awaken and
- 15:36Speaker 1: Chris Taylor, which is like an uncle or cousin of ours,
- 15:39Speaker 1: me and my brother, and it's like little whites from Nashville,
- 15:41Speaker 1: little whites from Memphis, down the street Tennessee. It's all
- 15:44Speaker 1: that kind of you know. So he was like, I
- 15:46Speaker 1: get the culture of the city. He was like, people
- 15:48Speaker 1: won't get it at first, but trust me, it'll it'll work, yeah,
- 15:51Speaker 1: because there was like this like Nashville white boy, dope
- 15:55Speaker 1: boy shit going on that I like you said, it
- 15:57Speaker 1: was very like you had to be from there to
- 16:00Speaker 1: really understand like what kind of dude you were at
- 16:04Speaker 1: the time, for sure, which is why we popped in Florida,
- 16:06Speaker 1: because Florida and so many white boys like that. So
- 16:10Speaker 1: it's like when you went to Saint Pete, you were
- 16:11Speaker 1: just like it was a town full of them, you know,
- 16:14Speaker 1: for Largo and all that stuff. The old gasoline alley
- 16:17Speaker 1: bar we played down there back in the day. The
- 16:19Speaker 1: thug crackers, crackers, you know what I'm saying. You remember this.
- 16:22Speaker 1: So it was like CASKI. There was so many kids
- 16:25Speaker 1: that was that that culture came to, like Florida and Georgia,
- 16:29Speaker 1: the South, especially just immediately in the midwest Indiana. Ohio, dude,
- 16:35Speaker 1: it was like first market ever for us. It's like
- 16:37Speaker 1: second home for me. Still. Ohio is like a it's
- 17:43Speaker 1: a weird place, man, because because it's like in the
- 17:45Speaker 1: middle of the country, it's like not quite like the South,
- 17:48Speaker 1: but it feels very like it kind of feels like
- 17:52Speaker 1: a country place sort of. Yeah. Well, you know it
- 17:55Speaker 1: is when you you go thirty miles outside of any
- 17:58Speaker 1: of the major metropolis and Ohio and you might as
- 18:01Speaker 1: well be in Mississippi. It's that fast. I mean, you're
- 18:04Speaker 1: in Cincinnati and then you blink your eye and you're
- 18:06Speaker 1: in fucking South Mississippi. That's crazy. You're like, what the
- 18:09Speaker 1: fuck just happened. It's insane, But it's brand it's own
- 18:13Speaker 1: culture up there in Sound too. Yeah, for sure. Ohio.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Shout out to Doobie, shout out to Immediate Him and
- 18:19Speaker 1: Highlight have pioneered an entire culture out of Columbia. I
- 18:22Speaker 1: met Doobie for the first time when he was running
- 18:24Speaker 1: around on the road with you. Yeah, in St. Pete, Florida.
- 18:27Speaker 1: That's another thing that came up in an interview of yours,
- 18:28Speaker 1: where I was like, I'm fucking old. I mean, you
- 18:31Speaker 1: know you ain't that old. God if you fucking make
- 18:34Speaker 1: me feel it when you interview these young dudes, you're like, yo,
- 18:36Speaker 1: I met you ten years ago with Jelly, I'm like, fuck,
- 18:38Speaker 1: I'm old. Well, you know what's great is you're now
- 18:41Speaker 1: making country music. Which country and rock music. I feel
- 18:44Speaker 1: like it doesn't matter how old you are, it's definitely timeless.
- 18:46Speaker 1: I swear rap music. I feel like, you know, you're
- 18:49Speaker 1: gonna always have a niche audience. But hip hop is
- 18:52Speaker 1: all about well, what's new, What's next? You know? I
- 18:55Speaker 1: was telling somebody what I'm anxious to see is the
- 19:00Speaker 1: I watched the Mount Westmore Tour come to Nashville and
- 19:05Speaker 1: sell out the Bridgetone Arena thirteen thousand, seven hundred tickets yep.
- 19:09Speaker 1: And then I watched the Legends of the Street tour
- 19:11Speaker 1: come to Nashville, Jeezy coucy Tz sell out, Boozy sell
- 19:15Speaker 1: out thirteen thousand, seven hundred tickets. It's the first time
- 19:19Speaker 1: in life that we're seeing hip hop translate generationally right,
- 19:23Speaker 1: and like oldiest hip hop for sure, because like back
- 19:26Speaker 1: in the day, that's what they say. This will never
- 19:27Speaker 1: make it to arenas. Nobody will care to see this
- 19:29Speaker 1: show in twenty years, and people are seeing it. I
- 19:33Speaker 1: want to see in twenty years from now, if Little
- 19:36Speaker 1: Dirk and Little Baby and the Baby can go sell
- 19:40Speaker 1: fifteen thousand tickets in every America, Right, it's going to
- 19:44Speaker 1: be fun to watch. Dude. It's like a stud into
- 19:46Speaker 1: the game because hip hop is so young when you
- 19:50Speaker 1: think about it, not even from the kids doing it,
- 19:52Speaker 1: Like just to think that Ice Cuban them was our
- 19:54Speaker 1: first reference point of watching hip hop grow with people
- 19:58Speaker 1: to the point that I just watch thirteen thousand white kids.
- 20:02Speaker 1: It's like we in their fucking forties. Those guys are
- 20:05Speaker 1: like are they're the first generation of hip hop guys
- 20:10Speaker 1: to be fifty? Yeah you know what I mean. It's crazy, right, Yeah.
- 20:14Speaker 1: I didn't think about it until I was there and
- 20:15Speaker 1: I was like, this is nuts. Yeah, Like, dude, I
- 20:18Speaker 1: was born when Nwa was getting active. I was born
- 20:23Speaker 1: in eighty seven, yeah for sure, so a little bit before.
- 20:27Speaker 1: But I was born a little bit before, a little bit,
- 20:30Speaker 1: just a little bit much, not much an hair. What's
- 20:37Speaker 1: been like, you know, since you've kind of been on
- 20:41Speaker 1: this run in the last couple of years, what has
- 20:42Speaker 1: been the coolest thing that you've got to experience? Because
- 20:44Speaker 1: you've showed out some big shows you've been a part of,
- 20:46Speaker 1: like some crazy you've just been I mean you're about
- 20:49Speaker 1: to do Jimmy Kimel tomorrow, you know, Like, what's been
- 20:50Speaker 1: some something that's where you just kind of had to
- 20:52Speaker 1: pinch yourself one of those moments we're like, damn, this
- 20:55Speaker 1: is pretty fucking cool. Uh. The first time that when
- 20:58Speaker 1: we got invited to the Grand Old was just the
- 21:02Speaker 1: history of the Grand Old Opry. And I'm letting somebody
- 21:05Speaker 1: that represents our community and our kind and our culture,
- 21:09Speaker 1: you know, because like, regardless of how much I messed
- 21:11Speaker 1: the music together, I'm a hip hop kid and I
- 21:14Speaker 1: always will be. I'm a student of the game. I
- 21:16Speaker 1: love hip hop and I was the first rapper to
- 21:20Speaker 1: play the Grand Old Opry even though I sung it's
- 21:23Speaker 1: like still there's a thing there, the first local rapper
- 21:27Speaker 1: because Nashal's had a lot of big talent come out
- 21:29Speaker 1: to sell out the Rhymen Court. For me, yeah, we
- 21:32Speaker 1: are like thirty five no bullshit tickets away from selling
- 21:36Speaker 1: out Red Rocks in October. So that's a that's Denver. Yeah,
- 21:40Speaker 1: you gotta come out October twenty third. It's gonna be nuts.
- 21:44Speaker 1: You're headlining, that's gonna be crazy. It almost sold out
- 21:48Speaker 1: and we're playing. You know, we're headlining my arena in Nashville.
- 21:51Speaker 1: Did you've seen this? Put You've seen it? Yeah, this
- 21:53Speaker 1: is crazy, So we're gonna headline. That's another one that
- 21:55Speaker 1: was they're all wild moments. Yeah, I saw that big
- 21:58Speaker 1: show you did last year in Dallas and crazy insane. No,
- 22:01Speaker 1: for sure. We just sold seven thousand tickets at a
- 22:05Speaker 1: hockey arena sold out in Kalamazoo the day of the
- 22:07Speaker 1: on sale being Struggles just played it the other day.
- 22:10Speaker 1: It was fucking nuts. I just did twenty thousand people
- 22:13Speaker 1: at tailgates and Tall Boys co headlining with Riley just
- 22:17Speaker 1: every everything about it's just like, what in the fuck
- 22:20Speaker 1: is happening? What are the things that you're noticing being
- 22:24Speaker 1: in the country industry now? Because it is You've lived
- 22:26Speaker 1: in Nashville, so I'm sure it's not. It's never been
- 22:28Speaker 1: too far away, but it's a different game. Like I
- 22:31Speaker 1: feel like country is one of the I know people
- 22:33Speaker 1: who do country radio and they get treated like fucking
- 22:36Speaker 1: royalty by the artists and by by like the labels.
- 22:39Speaker 1: It's crazy. Well, you know, people still buy CDs. People
- 22:44Speaker 1: don't realize country is still the only CD is getting
- 22:46Speaker 1: sold at Walmart a country CDs. What I love about
- 22:49Speaker 1: country music is is it's very tribal. There's a lot
- 22:54Speaker 1: of people who find music through country radio and through
- 22:58Speaker 1: the just country music. It's like there's still a country
- 23:03Speaker 1: music fan that exists. It's like just a fan of
- 23:06Speaker 1: country music. So if they know that you do country music,
- 23:10Speaker 1: you're gonna at least get a chance or give you
- 23:13Speaker 1: a chance. They're like, oh fuck, I love country music.
- 23:15Speaker 1: You make country music. Play me something where it's like
- 23:18Speaker 1: in hip hop, it's like everybody raps. This is true, everybody.
- 23:23Speaker 1: Everybody raps. Trust me. I just left an Empire Brunch
- 23:26Speaker 1: shout out to Empire bro. I couldn't walk two feet
- 23:30Speaker 1: with someone stopping me and just no, for sure, it's
- 23:33Speaker 1: just like I get on the pod, hey yo, what's
- 23:35Speaker 1: up yo yo? And you're just like, no, it's a
- 23:39Speaker 1: lot everybody raps. So it's like when you tell it dude,
- 23:41Speaker 1: Hey man, I rap, let me play you something. Instead
- 23:43Speaker 1: of them being like I'd like to listen to go
- 23:44Speaker 1: I rap too, and you're just like there that went.
- 23:47Speaker 1: You know. But you don't meet a lot of country
- 23:49Speaker 1: artists Nashville. You throw a rock and hit one, but
- 23:53Speaker 1: it's like there's a core country music fan. And I've
- 23:56Speaker 1: always been a country music fan just because you grow
- 23:58Speaker 1: up in Nashville. You can't help but to be there's
- 24:00Speaker 1: no way that yeah, I mean country. I feel like
- 24:04Speaker 1: obviously I'm a big hip hop dude, but like, just
- 24:06Speaker 1: like with any genre of music, I like, right, you
- 24:10Speaker 1: know what I mean? You know. Highlights said it to
- 24:12Speaker 1: me best when this shit started working for me. He said,
- 24:15Speaker 1: I'm watching you finally do what I watched you do
- 24:19Speaker 1: in the car for ten years. He's like, and it's
- 24:22Speaker 1: so gratifying because we would get in the car and
- 24:25Speaker 1: go on these long road trips and I would just
- 24:27Speaker 1: torture them with George Strait records and Billy Currington songs
- 24:31Speaker 1: and I'm like, Blair, like I'm doing sound check singing
- 24:34Speaker 1: Darius Rucker every day, you know. And the Highlight was like,
- 24:37Speaker 1: it's so cool, like everybody who really knows what kind
- 24:40Speaker 1: of music I listened to. Thought it was super dope
- 24:42Speaker 1: to finally see me, you know, like, okay, this is
- 24:44Speaker 1: like you know, you doing what we see you do
- 24:47Speaker 1: in the car anyways, Like we watch you smoke weed
- 24:49Speaker 1: and sing Alan Jackson, So this is cool. Are you
- 24:53Speaker 1: gonna get into some fucking movies or something? Man, I
- 24:56Speaker 1: just talked to a guy. I got something of them
- 24:57Speaker 1: a sleeve dude, or like TV or you should host
- 25:01Speaker 1: a fucking I don't know. I just feel like you
- 25:02Speaker 1: just gotta be on the on the screen. I feel
- 25:04Speaker 1: like it did. I feel like this handsome face deserves
- 25:08Speaker 1: a chance. No. I think we're gonna do something. I
- 25:11Speaker 1: gotta you know. I'm really inspired by what MGK is
- 25:13Speaker 1: doing right now. Oh yeah, he did his own movie.
- 25:15Speaker 1: He's just doing his own movies. They're fucking INCREDIB for sure.
- 25:18Speaker 1: Shout out to my what a genius, great guy. Man
- 25:22Speaker 1: plug us in if you can. I'm surprised you never
- 25:24Speaker 1: met her. You know what's crazy. I know what's crazy.
- 25:26Speaker 1: I talked to MGK the other day and I was like,
- 25:29Speaker 1: I I should have asked him now, I should be like, yo,
- 25:31Speaker 1: just throw me in a mid in the text, just randomly.
- 25:33Speaker 1: I just love to reach out. I just I'm such
- 25:36Speaker 1: a fan of his spirit and his music, his writing ability,
- 25:39Speaker 1: you know, just the way he's a great creative. It's
- 25:41Speaker 1: a great creative man. That's another thing, like think about
- 25:44Speaker 1: the rock shit. It's crazy like all these artists like
- 25:47Speaker 1: MGK obviously very incredible rapper. God damn, he's a fucking
- 25:51Speaker 1: dingle blown arena tour right now. It's wild. Man. He's
- 25:55Speaker 1: he's on the phone drunk, facetiming the other night and
- 25:59Speaker 1: he was like, you know, he was talking about my
- 26:01Speaker 1: daughter had got me a little billboard for Father's Day,
- 26:03Speaker 1: which was so cool. Oh I saw that. Yeah, it
- 26:05Speaker 1: was the sweetest thing ever. And it's just a dad
- 26:07Speaker 1: and him that identified that, you know. And I'm like,
- 26:11Speaker 1: he's like, you, motherfucker, how you get up with a billboard.
- 26:13Speaker 1: I'm like, you got a fucking helicopter in an arena
- 26:16Speaker 1: every night that carries you across fourteen thousand people. Fuck
- 26:20Speaker 1: my billboard. So you're tripping. That dude is on top
- 26:23Speaker 1: of the world right now, you know. And he's still
- 26:26Speaker 1: the same kid from Cleveland that we all talked to
- 26:30Speaker 1: when he was you know, doing what was a thousand
- 26:32Speaker 1: words and running or whatever. He's still the same kid
- 26:35Speaker 1: pushing the Lace Up mixtape when you talk to him.
- 26:37Speaker 1: How diverse is like? Cause, like when you have a
- 26:40Speaker 1: show now and you're selling thirteen thousand tickets or seven
- 26:42Speaker 1: thousand tickets here right, Like how much of the crowd
- 26:46Speaker 1: is like og Jelly fans and how much just found
- 26:49Speaker 1: you recently? It's a good split. You know. The cool
- 26:51Speaker 1: thing about catalogs are and I always hear Russ talk
- 26:54Speaker 1: about this and I understand it now, is that you
- 26:57Speaker 1: can only build a true core base with a catalog. Right.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Sometimes guys will have songs that will get really hot
- 27:06Speaker 1: and the song will blow up, there's no catalog to
- 27:08Speaker 1: back it. So you have people that want to be
- 27:10Speaker 1: a fan of you, but they don't have enough catalog
- 27:13Speaker 1: to be a fan of yours. Got you, you know,
- 27:15Speaker 1: because like they might go to the one song and
- 27:17Speaker 1: be like, I like this, but what else is there?
- 27:19Speaker 1: And the dudes got two EPs out right, you know
- 27:22Speaker 1: where It's like guys like myself have Yeah, if someone
- 27:26Speaker 1: if someone hears your song on the radio and they
- 27:27Speaker 1: go to your Spotify page, they might just dive into
- 27:29Speaker 1: you just get God Willing, you get lost in the
- 27:32Speaker 1: jelly row rabbit hole. Yeah, just give me a chance,
- 27:34Speaker 1: give me a three song chance. And if I can
- 27:37Speaker 1: get you with those three I think I can suck
- 27:39Speaker 1: you in them. I've played save Me for hundreds of people.
- 27:42Speaker 1: Oh yes, that's my of my favorite songs for sure.
- 27:45Speaker 1: It's like I told you what I first. I was like, brother, No,
- 27:48Speaker 1: it's it's it's a It's like one of those records
- 27:51Speaker 1: that I can listen to it. I don't listen like
- 27:55Speaker 1: I don't ride around bumping your own ship. Yeah, but
- 27:58Speaker 1: not if I'm in the car and the perfect man,
- 28:00Speaker 1: I'm like, yo, let's let that motherfucker ring like that
- 28:03Speaker 1: you know that slaps? Are you guys gonna rework it?
- 28:06Speaker 1: We got a plan. I have a vision. I had
- 28:08Speaker 1: a dream, and like a real dream to put like
- 28:11Speaker 1: God Willing. I just want to put like a dell
- 28:15Speaker 1: on it. And I'm just speaking that into existence and
- 28:19Speaker 1: it sounds really wild. But could you imagine Adele coming
- 28:22Speaker 1: in with what the nuts got? Was me saying that mom,
- 28:27Speaker 1: you know, fucking Adele. It's like somebody who feels that
- 28:30Speaker 1: kind of pain. Yeah, because I feel like that's a
- 28:33Speaker 1: record that like, obviously it's been out a couple of years,
- 28:35Speaker 1: but if you worked it to radio now or whatever, right,
- 28:39Speaker 1: being a layup. I know this sounds weird, but for me,
- 28:44Speaker 1: music helps people. Yeah, right? Is that my people? Yes? Definitely?
- 28:51Speaker 1: It didn't pick up Boston. Yeah, you're good too good?
- 28:53Speaker 1: The mic sift super okay cool. I'm like, only my
- 28:56Speaker 1: people would come in and start shooting dice in there
- 28:58Speaker 1: or something like that, like this is our moment. I
- 29:00Speaker 1: want to play Soilo. To me, it's like music helps people,
- 29:05Speaker 1: and it's not even about the monetary value of the song.
- 29:07Speaker 1: For me, it's about how can I get it in
- 29:10Speaker 1: front of more people? Because I know how many people
- 29:11Speaker 1: it's helped, you know what I mean. I know how
- 29:14Speaker 1: many people have came to me through addictions, struggles, losing
- 29:18Speaker 1: family members, mental health, just drunk nights of sadness that
- 29:23Speaker 1: are like save Me was the song for me. It's like,
- 29:26Speaker 1: how can you get a song that helps so many
- 29:27Speaker 1: people in front of more people? It's kind of my goal.
- 29:30Speaker 1: So it's like I want to do whatever I can
- 29:32Speaker 1: to get in front of the world, and a lot
- 29:34Speaker 1: of your music has those kind of messages. I guess
- 29:39Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. It's not like I mean,
- 29:42Speaker 1: your music is very personal to you. Yeah, it's very cathartic.
- 29:46Speaker 1: It's therapeutics. I always wanted to make music with a
- 29:51Speaker 1: I'm very intentional in my songwriting. Now that you're popping
- 29:55Speaker 1: on is like the label trying to put you in
- 29:56Speaker 1: with writers? Are you just straight handling everything obviously, or
- 30:02Speaker 1: on the other side, you're in Nashville, now you're kind
- 30:04Speaker 1: of known as a guy. Now are you helping other
- 30:06Speaker 1: people with writing? I'm doing some of that. Yeah, I'm
- 30:08Speaker 1: doing some of that. And and the cool thing is
- 30:10Speaker 1: as a fan of writers like Kel's and mod getting
- 30:14Speaker 1: in a room together, I have got in a room
- 30:16Speaker 1: with some people that I wanted to get in a
- 30:18Speaker 1: room of course, you know that. I was like, Yo,
- 30:19Speaker 1: I love the way this collaborates. Yeah, Like I would
- 30:22Speaker 1: be honored to write a song with that dude. So
- 30:26Speaker 1: hip hop has trained us to be like in your
- 30:29Speaker 1: own little bubble, write your own shit, you know what
- 30:31Speaker 1: I mean. And it's like where every other genre is
- 30:34Speaker 1: way more open to being like it's not even about
- 30:37Speaker 1: somebody else helping write your lyrics. It's about sometimes I'll
- 30:39Speaker 1: go help another dude, write right, and just me being
- 30:42Speaker 1: in their helps whenever he's just like am I tripping?
- 30:44Speaker 1: Or is this fucking dope? And just me being like
- 30:47Speaker 1: that's dope. Sometimes yeah, Sometimes it's like if you're in
- 30:51Speaker 1: there with someone you respect and they give you some
- 30:54Speaker 1: affirmation that you period. Yeah, or sometimes I just put
- 30:57Speaker 1: people back on the right path. Like you'll have a
- 30:59Speaker 1: dude noodling and catch something and then get away. You
- 31:02Speaker 1: know how you knew you've been in a studio some
- 31:03Speaker 1: dudes is in her humming and noodling and he cat
- 31:05Speaker 1: When you said noodling, I'm thinking jumping into a lake
- 31:08Speaker 1: and catching cat. Yo. We can go with Hannah Baron
- 31:10Speaker 1: any day you want to go. She invited me and
- 31:12Speaker 1: the wife out. Have you seen Hannah Baron? No, but
- 31:14Speaker 1: I've seen people noodle on YouTube. Dude, have you ever
- 31:17Speaker 1: hear the wife? Yes? Fuck yeah, explain absolutely minutes. So
- 31:23Speaker 1: what is this noodling thing? Oh, it's real. So catfish
- 31:27Speaker 1: are and I'm gonna butcher it, Hannah, don't judgement, but
- 31:31Speaker 1: catfish normally are in like holes, right, shallower holes, and
- 31:36Speaker 1: what you do is you kind of fish into the
- 31:39Speaker 1: hole and the catfish by instinct will bite and then
- 31:43Speaker 1: you pull the catfish out but bite your hand. Yeah, right,
- 31:48Speaker 1: does it hurt? Well, I mean it's not. It's not comfortable,
- 31:51Speaker 1: but it's not like you know, it's not a bear
- 31:53Speaker 1: coodl right, it's like but yeah, So if you look
- 31:56Speaker 1: at people that get big fucking fish, they'll have scars
- 31:59Speaker 1: on their arms and it. So you've actually done this.
- 32:02Speaker 1: I've actually reached one out of the water. You've you've
- 32:05Speaker 1: caught a catfish with your bare hands, bare hands, brought
- 32:07Speaker 1: it out and felt like fucking thor held it up
- 32:10Speaker 1: over my head like hear ye, hear ye, people of Whoville,
- 32:13Speaker 1: I'm the fucking dude. Do I have to bash it
- 32:16Speaker 1: in the head to kill it? No? No, it's just
- 32:18Speaker 1: like any other fish. You hold it out of water
- 32:19Speaker 1: long enough, give it a slow torture it. We're putting
- 32:25Speaker 1: out of your misery. And now Peter cancels me. Yeah,
- 32:28Speaker 1: so do you cook the fish? Yeah? I love catfish?
- 32:31Speaker 1: Oh man, Oh, it's I don't not that I'm weird
- 32:34Speaker 1: about stuff, but I would if I'm either playing catch
- 32:37Speaker 1: and release or I'm trying something nice, and that's my role,
- 32:41Speaker 1: and catfish is one of my favorite things to eat,
- 32:43Speaker 1: so noodling. I've watched a lot of that on YouTube.
- 32:45Speaker 1: What was the name of that one redneck kid who
- 32:47Speaker 1: was rolling around yellow for a while, Cambo Camo. I
- 32:50Speaker 1: used to love seeing his Instagram page because he would
- 32:53Speaker 1: have the most as well. He had like a pet
- 32:55Speaker 1: possum running around on his shoulder. And you gotta follow
- 32:58Speaker 1: Hannah bar and I'm gonna send her your page now.
- 33:01Speaker 1: It is Cambo on steroids. She's catching airl from like
- 33:05Speaker 1: South Alabama that pulls out catfish the size of you.
- 33:10Speaker 1: She's like fucking five to like one ten. She's pulling
- 33:13Speaker 1: out fists that are bigger than her. It's fucking wild.
- 33:18Speaker 1: They're good money in that, you think I do? I
- 33:20Speaker 1: know her YouTube channel crushes. I mean that's that's there's
- 33:23Speaker 1: great money. Yeah, I've been getting stuck in. I've been
- 33:28Speaker 1: watching van life YouTube videos. Oh I can't get off
- 33:31Speaker 1: of that. That and puppies for all my TikTok is
- 33:33Speaker 1: van life and tiny homes. Yeah. I hadn't gotten into
- 33:38Speaker 1: the tiny homes, but the van life ship will warp me.
- 33:41Speaker 1: The Van Life shit. It makes me like sometimes fantasize
- 33:44Speaker 1: about having no kids and being single, right, Oh, watch
- 33:47Speaker 1: out and just being on an island. I'm gonna go
- 33:49Speaker 1: live in my van, save up all this money pissing
- 33:53Speaker 1: the park. Oh, you're in a slippery slog, my friend.
- 33:56Speaker 1: You should somebody should reel you away from this fast.
- 33:58Speaker 1: That's where it starts going south. He starts selling mushrooms
- 34:02Speaker 1: and me and my wife like, we'll go to the
- 34:04Speaker 1: dollar store sometimes and I'll just be looking at like
- 34:06Speaker 1: the groceries. I'd be like, man, I tell my wife.
- 34:09Speaker 1: I'm like, man, if I was single, I fuck that
- 34:10Speaker 1: blooney up for a dollar? Do you want to be single?
- 34:13Speaker 1: I'm like no. I was just thinking in my head
- 34:14Speaker 1: if I was like single with the one bedroom apartment,
- 34:16Speaker 1: like this is where i'd be at if I was
- 34:18Speaker 1: in the van that I really want to be in
- 34:20Speaker 1: the sides with you, that boney with a bucket, with
- 34:23Speaker 1: a bucket to shit in. What you say, puppies and
- 34:26Speaker 1: you and van puppies. I just love, I don't know,
- 34:29Speaker 1: make me happy. What about TV? What are you streaming
- 34:31Speaker 1: lately on TV? Oh, dude, I've been in the middle
- 34:33Speaker 1: of all kind of good ship. Have you seen the
- 34:35Speaker 1: offer yet? I've heard about it. The Godfather it's some paramount.
- 34:39Speaker 1: It's fucking I couldn't quit watching it. I watched The
- 34:43Speaker 1: Lincoln Lawyer. Have you seen the Boys? Uh uh? Amazon's Fire.
- 34:47Speaker 1: I watch it though, you know what, I just caught
- 34:48Speaker 1: up on and I know I'm late to the party.
- 34:50Speaker 1: And I heard it's an unpopular show out this way,
- 34:52Speaker 1: but winning time. Oh, I heard it's great. It was fire.
- 34:56Speaker 1: People love it. It was what about you're like Yellowstone?
- 34:58Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yellow Stones? Great to get it sucked me
- 35:01Speaker 1: in the Yellowstone. What's the best you gotta get? Like
- 35:03Speaker 1: a fucking cameo? I know, I just want to be
- 35:05Speaker 1: like one of the yeah or the bunk house or
- 35:08Speaker 1: a bar. To go to the bar and there's just
- 35:10Speaker 1: some dude that's it. Whoops, everybody, He's unfucking defeated Yellowstone.
- 35:17Speaker 1: I couldn't. At first, I was against it. I was
- 35:19Speaker 1: protesting it silently because I felt like it was too
- 35:22Speaker 1: dialogue driven. And my wife's like, trust me to love it.
- 35:24Speaker 1: I was like, I don't need to get into a
- 35:26Speaker 1: show that's like just a bunch of talking. And then
- 35:29Speaker 1: half the episode in I was like fucking up for
- 35:32Speaker 1: a day. I didn't do any I canceled sessions. I
- 35:36Speaker 1: watched every season I could catch up on like three days.
- 35:40Speaker 1: That shit actually had me like looking up flights to
- 35:42Speaker 1: go to Houston Rodeo. You should come to the Frontier
- 35:46Speaker 1: Days in Wyoming. I'm playing a rodeo. Me Co Wetzel
- 35:49Speaker 1: and Nelly are playing one night, Shyanne. Frontier Days is
- 35:53Speaker 1: like a really really big deal. It's like one of
- 35:56Speaker 1: the biggest rodeos on earth, like one of the oldest
- 35:58Speaker 1: ones ever. Wow. Yes, okay, Wyoming. Yeah, he's got his
- 36:04Speaker 1: ranch out. Come on, dude, have you heard you can
- 36:06Speaker 1: still make Chyenne Baby? It's an old old dors train
- 36:08Speaker 1: z home. Talk about just like in your opinion, man,
- 36:16Speaker 1: when you have a level of success that you're kind
- 36:18Speaker 1: of experiencing, does it feel like it or because sometimes
- 36:23Speaker 1: we don't realize that we're living in the moment we're
- 36:26Speaker 1: living in until it's like two or three years later,
- 36:28Speaker 1: and they'll be like, damn, like, are you enjoying the moment?
- 36:30Speaker 1: Are you like really like appreciating just everything going on
- 36:33Speaker 1: right now? Oh, more than I've ever appreciated anything. I
- 36:37Speaker 1: am so conscious of where I am in my life.
- 36:40Speaker 1: I'll give you an example. The other day when we
- 36:43Speaker 1: had those three string of shows. We had three shows
- 36:45Speaker 1: in a row. They're all just like killer shows. I
- 36:48Speaker 1: literally just handed my phone to my dude on the
- 36:51Speaker 1: beginning of the weekend and said, hey, man, just hand
- 36:54Speaker 1: it to me, and my wife calls Wow. I didn't
- 36:58Speaker 1: touch my phone for seventy two hours less. He was
- 37:00Speaker 1: bringing it to me, going, your wife's on the phone
- 37:02Speaker 1: and your daughter's on the phone. That's fire. I just
- 37:04Speaker 1: want to be there, you know what I'm saying. Like,
- 37:07Speaker 1: I want to be in every moment I can. I
- 37:10Speaker 1: want to feel everything. I want to talk to everybody
- 37:13Speaker 1: at this arena. I want to have every conversation. You know,
- 37:16Speaker 1: I walk the building. I have a thing where I
- 37:18Speaker 1: walk the whole building before the show. I walk it
- 37:21Speaker 1: after the show, you know what I mean. Like, I
- 37:23Speaker 1: just want to know. I want to feel how it
- 37:25Speaker 1: feels before and after. Because one, it's wild. Yeah, I
- 37:28Speaker 1: mean I think when we start selling those that amount
- 37:30Speaker 1: of tickets, that those capacities. When you've been doing like this,
- 37:33Speaker 1: you've been on the fucking road. Oh yeah, doing any
- 37:37Speaker 1: size venue you can think of. Oh for sure, me
- 37:39Speaker 1: take that in man, me Doobie before Doobie, even me
- 37:43Speaker 1: and highlight and God rest is soul. Big Mic literally
- 37:47Speaker 1: lived in a van with Scary Larry and Casey in
- 37:52Speaker 1: a band, a van like a ninety six. You've seen
- 37:54Speaker 1: that van. Yeah, you've seen the old white van. We
- 37:56Speaker 1: call it Bertha. For five years on the run, two
- 38:00Speaker 1: hundred some days a year. When I met my wife,
- 38:02Speaker 1: I didn't have a house. Wow. I met my wife
- 38:05Speaker 1: in twenty fifteen, twenty sixteen, and I did not have
- 38:08Speaker 1: an apartment. I was living in the van. I was
- 38:11Speaker 1: home so little that when I was home I would
- 38:14Speaker 1: say I would crash couches and fucking drive to the
- 38:18Speaker 1: next city a couple of days early and crash in
- 38:20Speaker 1: the van, or get hotels like I didn't even there
- 38:22Speaker 1: was no point in even having a you know, we
- 38:24Speaker 1: did that for so long. Two hundred cap rooms, three
- 38:27Speaker 1: hundred cap rooms, thousand cap rooms, four hundred cap rooms,
- 38:30Speaker 1: one hundred and fifty cap rooms. I've opened up for
- 38:33Speaker 1: metal bands. I've opened up for ICP multiple times, twisted
- 38:37Speaker 1: multiple times. The grind of this ship, God, I'm glad
- 38:41Speaker 1: we're talking about this. The grind of this ship is
- 38:44Speaker 1: what people miss the most, right is the years and
- 38:48Speaker 1: you do me and you talk about it all the
- 38:49Speaker 1: time privately. How proud I am of you that, Like
- 38:52Speaker 1: we were the same two dudes in Tampa that were
- 38:54Speaker 1: trying to figure it out. And the next thing I know,
- 38:56Speaker 1: you're fucking in La right, You're fucking meet the love
- 39:00Speaker 1: of your life. You're fucking fucking running the ranks up again,
- 39:04Speaker 1: your fucking biggest market in America. You're figuring the shit out.
- 39:08Speaker 1: It's like, that's our dude. Like that's how we've always
- 39:11Speaker 1: identified you, Like that's our fucking guy. That's our dude,
- 39:13Speaker 1: that's figuring that shit out, you know what I mean.
- 39:15Speaker 1: It's like when a country does a security for Juicy
- 39:20Speaker 1: and when we pull up here, it's like a bootleg
- 39:22Speaker 1: cab bootlet kid. Yeah, Juicy Love Bootleg Cat. I'm like,
- 39:25Speaker 1: everybody fucking you know, everybody's on this podcast. I was like,
- 39:28Speaker 1: I've been harassing keV to get on this podcast, you
- 39:30Speaker 1: know what I mean. But it's one of those things
- 39:32Speaker 1: where they don't the grinds of years and years and
- 39:36Speaker 1: years of eating shit sandwiches to finally get a fucking
- 39:39Speaker 1: Philly cheese steak. What do you think it was for you?
- 39:42Speaker 1: Because you obviously got new management. But I feel like
- 39:45Speaker 1: you've done something that is very hard to do. And
- 39:49Speaker 1: when you come up on the underground tip like you do,
- 39:54Speaker 1: and you gain a lot of fan bases from a
- 39:57Speaker 1: lot of different artists. Like you said, you open up
- 40:00Speaker 1: for ICP, Twisted all that. You obviously heavily affiliated with
- 40:03Speaker 1: Strange Music. They distributed at least one of your projects
- 40:06Speaker 1: distributed to Travis. You went on a whole tour attack.
- 40:09Speaker 1: I went out with Yellow Wolf twice. Yeah, it's like
- 40:11Speaker 1: you have all kind of all these fans, and you
- 40:15Speaker 1: know they come from all different walks of life, but
- 40:18Speaker 1: there is like a stigma that comes with a lot
- 40:20Speaker 1: of those fan bases. And even when we think of
- 40:25Speaker 1: the white rapper thing, right, it feels like the the
- 40:29Speaker 1: underground white rapper thing. It's like a hard mold to
- 40:32Speaker 1: get out of and I feel like you've busted through it,
- 40:36Speaker 1: just like you're just jelly rolling. And I focused on
- 40:39Speaker 1: making music that was real, not music that was cool,
- 40:43Speaker 1: because there was moments like when I'm playing you Sunday morning,
- 40:46Speaker 1: you get it, But it wasn't cool. It was the
- 40:49Speaker 1: opposite and it was working. Yeah. It also it wasn't
- 40:52Speaker 1: what you're known for. What you were putting out at all.
- 40:55Speaker 1: It's like I just focused on the music that felt real,
- 40:58Speaker 1: Like to this day, it's like I know that I'm
- 41:00Speaker 1: I'm not going to connect with some of the people
- 41:03Speaker 1: because it's not trendy, it's not cool, it's just not
- 41:06Speaker 1: the texture of sound they're looking for. But strip it down,
- 41:10Speaker 1: it's real. It might not be real to you, and
- 41:13Speaker 1: it might not be what you're looking for, but this
- 41:15Speaker 1: is I feel authentic in everything I do. I'm not
- 41:19Speaker 1: chasing cool, I'm not overthinking visuals. I'm not trying to
- 41:22Speaker 1: package something in a way that's just like, I'm just
- 41:25Speaker 1: putting out music that feels right to where I'm at
- 41:29Speaker 1: in that moment of my life. Dude, I'm sitting here,
- 41:30Speaker 1: you know, talk about my age all day, but I'm
- 41:32Speaker 1: a thirty seven year old man. I'm on the verge
- 41:35Speaker 1: of being thirty eight. I have a fourteen year old
- 41:37Speaker 1: daughter that'll be fifteen and six months the fucking high
- 41:41Speaker 1: schooler crazy like six Inevitably, I was going to start
- 41:45Speaker 1: making a different kind of music, right the same fucking guy. Yeah,
- 41:49Speaker 1: I'm not even close. So it's like I just whatever
- 41:52Speaker 1: felt real to where I am in my life at
- 41:55Speaker 1: that moment and to the people, I know who I'm
- 41:57Speaker 1: writing songs for. I'm still writing songs for my mother,
- 42:00Speaker 1: Wow right. I'm still writing songs for that woman who's
- 42:05Speaker 1: struggling with addiction, struggling financially, fucking pain in her eyes,
- 42:11Speaker 1: trying to figure out how to take care of her kids.
- 42:12Speaker 1: I'm still writing songs for that woman. And I'm still
- 42:16Speaker 1: writing songs for that dude in that trailer park or
- 42:19Speaker 1: that apartment or that fucking rundown house or middle class
- 42:23Speaker 1: neighborhood that's busting his ass and working his ass off
- 42:25Speaker 1: and trying to figure life out. I'm still writing songs
- 42:29Speaker 1: for that dude that's fucking selling weed on the side
- 42:32Speaker 1: because his job's not paying enough to take care of
- 42:34Speaker 1: his family. I'm still writing songs for that dude on
- 42:37Speaker 1: that back road in that little country fucking town and
- 42:40Speaker 1: that pickup truck that he busted his ass to get
- 42:42Speaker 1: that smokes a joint every day the moment he gets
- 42:45Speaker 1: off work. I know who the fuck I'm writing songs for, right.
- 42:48Speaker 1: You know, I'm not trying to write a song for
- 42:51Speaker 1: fucking the kids that went to Rolling Loud this year.
- 42:54Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying and I'm very honest about that.
- 42:56Speaker 1: Ye yeah, it's fair, of course not. Yeah. So it's
- 42:59Speaker 1: like knowing that was my my busting point. I tell
- 43:02Speaker 1: people all the time, you can't. I'll see a Jelly
- 43:05Speaker 1: Roll fan before he sees me every time, and I'm
- 43:10Speaker 1: fucking fat with tattoos on my face. I stand the
- 43:13Speaker 1: fuck out, and I'll still watch that guy walk into
- 43:15Speaker 1: a grocery store and go, that's my guy. For sure,
- 43:19Speaker 1: that's my guy. I'll catch that guy in a minute.
- 43:22Speaker 1: I'll tell my wife that's why, that's our guy right there.
- 43:25Speaker 1: Two hours later. Holy fuck, Jelly dude, I fucking love
- 43:28Speaker 1: your shit. I'm like, thanks, man, I knew it. Yeah.
- 43:30Speaker 1: And every now and then I walk by dude that
- 43:32Speaker 1: I thinks my guy and he's not, and I'll introduce myself.
- 43:35Speaker 1: Hey man, I know this sounds weird, dude, but dude,
- 43:38Speaker 1: I just feel like I fucking speak for you. I
- 43:39Speaker 1: know I don't know you from the mom I'm not
- 43:40Speaker 1: trying to stereotype you in here, Hosse, but fucking I
- 43:43Speaker 1: make fucking kind of rock and roll, fucking southern rap,
- 43:46Speaker 1: country music and scent, and I just think you fuck
- 43:49Speaker 1: with it. That's so crazy. Hey, let's take a quick
- 43:52Speaker 1: piss break because I'm about to piss on Myselfhe yes,
- 43:54Speaker 1: Can I get a water in the piss break? Or
- 43:55Speaker 1: is this a waterless facility? We're gonna go get you
- 43:57Speaker 1: a water, yo, I'll get you. Uh. It's crazy how
- 45:27Speaker 1: they did the media base and the platinum record of one. Yeah,
- 45:31Speaker 1: I'll put it right here, Sin it's on camera. Yeah,
- 45:33Speaker 1: I'll get you one of those for uh oh yeah,
- 45:37Speaker 1: for fucking dead Man walking, because we got the radio
- 45:41Speaker 1: thing for it too. I just got we crack. We
- 45:45Speaker 1: cracked the top twenty five this week on Country Wow
- 45:48Speaker 1: twenty four as of today moved two slots again. Are
- 45:51Speaker 1: you finding that country is a little harder. It's way harder,
- 45:53Speaker 1: charts a lot harder. It's fucking It's harder than any
- 45:56Speaker 1: other genre on Earth. It's also got the biggest audience
- 45:59Speaker 1: besides pop back as I say, but your reach is
- 46:04Speaker 1: way more and pop has only got a bigger audience
- 46:07Speaker 1: by like it's closed, cav I can imagine. It's kind
- 46:11Speaker 1: of blew my mind to be if you think about
- 46:13Speaker 1: like how big the middle of the country is compared
- 46:17Speaker 1: to the metropolis parts. It's like, right, most of this
- 46:21Speaker 1: is for sure. I had perspective. The other day. We
- 46:26Speaker 1: were leaving Nashville and I was driving the Tailgates and
- 46:29Speaker 1: Tall Boys the first vessel, and it was like two hours,
- 46:35Speaker 1: like I think I was two and a half hours
- 46:37Speaker 1: outside of Nashville and I was still picking up the
- 46:39Speaker 1: Nashville Country radio station. Wow. Like literally I was in
- 46:43Speaker 1: Kentucky and I was clearly picking up one O three
- 46:46Speaker 1: to three Yo. What happened. One of my favorite things
- 46:51Speaker 1: that happened during the pandemic was you and Andrew Schulch song. Dude.
- 46:55Speaker 1: It was so funny, the video was so good. It
- 46:58Speaker 1: was my favorite thing that happened. Fucking covid anthem. It
- 47:01Speaker 1: was the covid anthem. Dude. I tell people me and
- 47:03Speaker 1: Andrew Shouls are responsible for the country opening back up.
- 47:06Speaker 1: I don't care what nobody's that. It was so it
- 47:09Speaker 1: was so and you know what, his whole team is
- 47:11Speaker 1: just fucking awesome. You talk about a dude who gets it.
- 47:16Speaker 1: He's if rappers would take one twentieth of his approach
- 47:24Speaker 1: to the business. He's kind of doing the rust thing
- 47:27Speaker 1: very just do it yourself side, put it out as
- 47:30Speaker 1: much as you can. Overload the content constantly drops, But
- 47:35Speaker 1: my favorite thing about what he does is how he
- 47:39Speaker 1: presents it. He's not afraid to spend the dollar for
- 47:42Speaker 1: the good look. This is inside baseball. But when I
- 47:46Speaker 1: watch him played la here, right, he rints the old
- 47:50Speaker 1: six four. Yep, he shoots the footage of him pulling
- 47:53Speaker 1: up to the theater with it bouncing little things that
- 47:57Speaker 1: are just like you thought about. You know. It's like
- 48:01Speaker 1: when we came down here to do the Kimmel thing
- 48:05Speaker 1: and they sent us over the production stuff, my first
- 48:07Speaker 1: question was, cool, can I build a set? Right? You know?
- 48:12Speaker 1: It's like I know they're not paying, and I know
- 48:14Speaker 1: that at that point I've got to pay to build
- 48:15Speaker 1: the set and break the set down. But it's like,
- 48:17Speaker 1: can I build a set? You know what I mean? Like,
- 48:19Speaker 1: I want to make sure that what we do. I mean, look,
- 48:22Speaker 1: that's that's a look that you might get once in
- 48:24Speaker 1: your lifetime ever. I mean hopefully it's one of many
- 48:26Speaker 1: of those looks, but you just never know, right, So
- 48:28Speaker 1: it's like, yeah, you know that's going to reach millions
- 48:31Speaker 1: of people, like Teddy Swims and Megan Train are just
- 48:34Speaker 1: built a garden on Kimmel or I just saw it Swims.
- 48:38Speaker 1: I love Teddy Swims so much, and he's it was
- 48:40Speaker 1: so good to just like to see him, like go
- 48:42Speaker 1: from just do an amazing did you go to to
- 48:45Speaker 1: get this? It's next door? Oh dude, I'm so sorry.
- 48:48Speaker 1: I would have never asked you to go buy me
- 48:49Speaker 1: a water. And Teddy Swims got so talented. He's also
- 48:57Speaker 1: just like us, covering all kinds of l R and
- 49:01Speaker 1: B shit like Mario, let me love you And I
- 49:03Speaker 1: don't care how much of a singer I think I am.
- 49:05Speaker 1: I hear him singing I want to quit. Do you
- 49:07Speaker 1: guys link up at all? Oh? Yeah, we talked in
- 49:09Speaker 1: Nashville all the time. We went and got drunk at
- 49:11Speaker 1: the Rhyme a few weeks ago. He's a Nashville guy. Yep,
- 49:14Speaker 1: he lives there now now she's a Georgia kid. Yeah,
- 49:18Speaker 1: Nashville's like, uh, if you're in for people who don't
- 49:21Speaker 1: know obviously music city, but like if you're in the
- 49:23Speaker 1: country music industry, like you have to be there almost
- 49:27Speaker 1: you have to. You can't make it anywhere else if
- 49:29Speaker 1: you want to be a part of the pop country scene. Now,
- 49:33Speaker 1: Texas has its own country scene in general, just like
- 49:35Speaker 1: it had its own rap scene. It's no different. Texas
- 49:37Speaker 1: is like that for all music. But yeah, if you
- 49:40Speaker 1: want to be a part of but even the Texas
- 49:42Speaker 1: people got to move to Nashville, right if they want
- 49:44Speaker 1: to go big, Yeah, they want to go bigger than Texas.
- 49:48Speaker 1: When did you help Andrew write his portion of that record? Yeah,
- 49:53Speaker 1: well it was a collaborative, right, but souls, she's very clever,
- 49:56Speaker 1: so I'm not sure he like, I'm sure he hasne
- 49:59Speaker 1: He had all the line. We just had to keep
- 50:00Speaker 1: them in rhythm. The best part was when he was like,
- 50:03Speaker 1: all right, I want to sing it. I was like, what,
- 50:05Speaker 1: That's not what I seen coming. You know you got
- 50:07Speaker 1: shot that video of Florida, right, Yeah, we went down
- 50:08Speaker 1: to Florida when they were doing this flagrant in Miami thing.
- 50:11Speaker 1: Oh we had a blast. When I got pissed drunk,
- 50:14Speaker 1: we had a fucking ball. Dude, you obviously I see
- 50:18Speaker 1: you pop up on a lot of podcasts, like a
- 50:19Speaker 1: shout out to theovonn shot out to Brandon Shop and
- 50:22Speaker 1: those guys. Would you ever have your own podcast? Is
- 50:25Speaker 1: that something that you even think you have time to
- 50:28Speaker 1: even dabble in? I've been talking to a company about it,
- 50:32Speaker 1: and I'd like to I love podcasting. One, I just
- 50:35Speaker 1: love the idea of conversation, but two, I just love
- 50:41Speaker 1: the idea of just being goofy. So I love doing
- 50:43Speaker 1: like THEO and Shop and which I think I would
- 50:47Speaker 1: do The King and the Sting again this week. And
- 50:49Speaker 1: I think I'm gonna do The Fighter and the Kid
- 50:52Speaker 1: with Shopping Calling this week. And this is my big
- 50:55Speaker 1: one and I hope it works out. But as of
- 50:57Speaker 1: right now, it's on the books for me to do
- 50:59Speaker 1: the Bird Cast. Oh I love Burt. Yeah, I'm so excited.
- 51:02Speaker 1: I'm such a Burt fan. So if I get to
- 51:04Speaker 1: actually do Chrisier, I'm gonna lose my ship. They're supposed
- 51:08Speaker 1: to be making a movie based on the Machine than
- 51:10Speaker 1: for sure. Literally he went out there and shot it already.
- 51:13Speaker 1: He's so funny. He's so fucking funny. You know. It's
- 51:15Speaker 1: funny because when I first saw his ship and I
- 51:17Speaker 1: saw he did a stand up with no shirt on,
- 51:18Speaker 1: I was like, asked some gimmicky shit, and I actually
- 51:20Speaker 1: watched it, I was like, Oh, this guy's fucking got Well.
- 51:23Speaker 1: The best part is then you watch him and that's
- 51:25Speaker 1: just who he is. Yeah, for sure. You know he's
- 51:28Speaker 1: got the most like hilariously painful laugh. Oh yeah, sure.
- 51:31Speaker 1: When he laughs, it's like no, for sure, it's like
- 51:36Speaker 1: it's like painful, like bro, it's like some of it.
- 51:38Speaker 1: Are you okay? He's gonna stroke out? He had super
- 51:41Speaker 1: red faced. Yes, what's something that you learned? You had
- 51:45Speaker 1: a great pandemic. I had a great pandemic in terms
- 51:48Speaker 1: of just where we were before we started to where
- 51:51Speaker 1: we are now. What is something that you took away from,
- 51:55Speaker 1: you know, the goofy era of our country or the
- 51:58Speaker 1: world rather the world. Yeah, content is king guys like
- 52:03Speaker 1: shouls watching how they released. Content is also recession proof.
- 52:08Speaker 1: It's pandemic proof, for sure. It's in fact it's needed
- 52:12Speaker 1: more in those moments. Yeah, people were running out of
- 52:15Speaker 1: ship to watch, Oh for sure, ran through a I
- 52:18Speaker 1: watched there. Oh yeah, no, for I went back and
- 52:23Speaker 1: rewatched prison Break. I was just at the crib of
- 52:25Speaker 1: just losing my ship. Yeah, I was fucking awesome. My
- 52:28Speaker 1: first came. It's like every other thing. The first season
- 52:30Speaker 1: got weird. Yeah, it got weird. Season three they all
- 52:32Speaker 1: do season into a prison break, We're so good, insane,
- 52:36Speaker 1: and then season three they end up in jail again
- 52:38Speaker 1: in Colombia. How many times can you end up in
- 52:41Speaker 1: fucking jail? Yeah, Jesus, y'all milk the drug utter dry
- 52:44Speaker 1: Sun one and two spitting dust so good. They gotta
- 52:48Speaker 1: quit fucking legacies up. Another show that was like that, Oh,
- 52:54Speaker 1: Dexter got weird after season four, The New Dexter was.
- 53:00Speaker 1: What do you think about the New Dexter? All right,
- 53:02Speaker 1: I appreciate it. I liked it because I hated the
- 53:04Speaker 1: way Dexter ended. Yeah, it was so so I was
- 53:07Speaker 1: kind of glad that they kind of brought it back
- 53:09Speaker 1: full circle. Did you ever see Dynasty or whatever it's called.
- 53:14Speaker 1: That might have been what it was called. It was
- 53:15Speaker 1: a show about a family who had a big dynasty,
- 53:18Speaker 1: and it's like, it was awesome. I gotta look it up.
- 53:21Speaker 1: Me and my wife watching it was so good. And
- 53:23Speaker 1: like season three it turned into a fucking musical. Literally,
- 53:26Speaker 1: it's bitches turned this fucking showed that was like savage, gangster,
- 53:30Speaker 1: cutthroat business ship and it was a fucking musical. And
- 53:33Speaker 1: I was like, y'all fucking blew it. I think five
- 53:36Speaker 1: is the sweet spot. If you really got you gotta
- 53:39Speaker 1: end it at five For sure, all the best shows.
- 53:41Speaker 1: The Wire was five seasons, Breaking Bad was five seasons,
- 53:45Speaker 1: Ozark four but two parts, right, yeah, because I think
- 53:49Speaker 1: after you it was Sons of Anarchy too many? Was
- 53:53Speaker 1: it like seven? It was like seven or eight? But
- 53:55Speaker 1: it was great. It's still it's still I loved it,
- 53:58Speaker 1: you know, the way we knew it would. But I
- 54:00Speaker 1: just Sons of Anarchy with Peg Bunny stabs of Dax's
- 54:03Speaker 1: fucking uh fucking wife in the head, his baby mom.
- 54:06Speaker 1: Oh my god, she was a you watch Mayans. No.
- 54:13Speaker 1: I got a couple of friends who play on it
- 54:14Speaker 1: that are awesome, Joseph and to Mmmm, yeah, I'm fucking
- 54:19Speaker 1: with Yellowstone. There's a new show with Jeff Bridge is
- 54:21Speaker 1: called The Old Man that's crazy. Three episodes in. Is
- 54:25Speaker 1: it already all out or coming out once a week?
- 54:27Speaker 1: Kol calling when it's finished. It's been fucking myself getting
- 54:31Speaker 1: into those things, and I'm on the road, so I
- 54:32Speaker 1: always miss when it comes out. Dude, Like The Boys,
- 54:35Speaker 1: Season three starts with this fucking superhuman dude. Like there's
- 54:40Speaker 1: like people in the show with powers. It's about essentially,
- 54:42Speaker 1: it's like, uh, if superheroes were real, they'd be like corrupt,
- 54:48Speaker 1: they'd have drug problems, they'd be fucking bitches, they'd be
- 54:50Speaker 1: like taking advantage of people. Like so it's like that
- 54:53Speaker 1: angle the superhero thing, and like the Captain America of
- 54:57Speaker 1: the show, like the face, like the biggest superhero in
- 54:59Speaker 1: the tree is like a fucking sociopast, serial killer, fucking rapist, maniac,
- 55:06Speaker 1: and everyone's scared of him because he's got Like what's
- 55:08Speaker 1: this show. It's called The Boys, It's on Amazon Prime.
- 55:11Speaker 1: It's amazing. But season three starts. There's this like dude
- 55:14Speaker 1: who's kind of like ant man, right, So he's fucking
- 55:18Speaker 1: some gay club and he takes his dude into the
- 55:22Speaker 1: room and it looks like he's about to get fucked
- 55:24Speaker 1: in the ass, and uh, the dude. So the dude,
- 55:29Speaker 1: the dude bends over and it's like jump in. So
- 55:32Speaker 1: the superhero guy goes super tiny, like small enough, and
- 55:37Speaker 1: he dives in the tip of this guy's dick, no
- 55:40Speaker 1: fucking way. So he's inside of the guy's dick and
- 55:43Speaker 1: he's like tickling the sides and when he sneezes, he
- 55:47Speaker 1: gets big again. So he sneezes inside the guy's dick
- 55:53Speaker 1: and explodes. The dude all over the fun. Oh my god,
- 55:57Speaker 1: it's crazy, and then watching it and then what you're
- 56:01Speaker 1: doing with your life. Guy kicks in the door right
- 56:04Speaker 1: finds him the guy. He puts the little midget motherfucker
- 56:07Speaker 1: into a bag of cocaine and shakes it up, and
- 56:09Speaker 1: he dies of an overdose. Oh my god. Besides dying
- 56:13Speaker 1: of an overdose, it's kind of a dream scenario for me.
- 56:16Speaker 1: I wish I could just go swim around the bag
- 56:18Speaker 1: of cocaine. I might do that tonight. To be honest,
- 56:21Speaker 1: it's where's a bag of coat? It might be the
- 56:23Speaker 1: way I get over this hangover from plane drinking this morning.
- 56:28Speaker 1: Is cocaine a nice even if you have a hangover?
- 56:30Speaker 1: Would you say it? Well, it's more of a if
- 56:33Speaker 1: I'm really drunk thing. You know. Cocaine's weird now because
- 56:37Speaker 1: the day of doing it with strangers in the bathroom
- 56:39Speaker 1: is over, because you might have You just can't trust
- 56:41Speaker 1: the drugs anymore. We're having to run around with drug
- 56:43Speaker 1: testing kids, like sucking a police officer. You know what
- 56:47Speaker 1: I'm saying. We're like testing fucking with testing strips. Yeah,
- 56:50Speaker 1: because he might die. Yeah, it's fucking fucked up, dude.
- 56:53Speaker 1: Guy what. It's so cool when you can just bump
- 56:55Speaker 1: into a stone cold stranger at a bar and he's like,
- 56:57Speaker 1: want to hit a bumper? Like fuck yeah. He was
- 56:59Speaker 1: like the Mountain. He would just be in there pulling
- 57:01Speaker 1: little mountains of coke on the end of a key
- 57:03Speaker 1: or a fucking car. You didn't know this, dude. You
- 57:05Speaker 1: were just like, thank you, Mountain Ferry, I'll take another
- 57:07Speaker 1: little heel and you're just hitting them with them, and
- 57:10Speaker 1: y'all are fucking party in the bathroom. You don't fucking
- 57:13Speaker 1: know each other. And then you leave, You're like, I
- 57:15Speaker 1: did did some killer blow with that dude in the bathroom. Dude,
- 57:17Speaker 1: fucking awesome. He was ranking them out sign And now
- 57:20Speaker 1: you're dude to the bathroom, like you want to hit
- 57:22Speaker 1: some blow, And I'm like, I want to see you
- 57:23Speaker 1: do a whole eight ball first, first show me that
- 57:26Speaker 1: you can do it. Yeah, And how long have you
- 57:28Speaker 1: been doing this blow? You might have already got accustomed
- 57:30Speaker 1: to the amount of fit and all in it, and
- 57:32Speaker 1: I might not be. You know a lot of people
- 57:34Speaker 1: that are dealing with that shit, like the overdose shit,
- 57:36Speaker 1: because I know what's happening a lot like everywhere, man
- 57:39Speaker 1: We had a really bad few years in Nashville, especially
- 57:41Speaker 1: with old friends from the neighborhood that kind of went
- 57:43Speaker 1: from pills to shooting shit and just you know, that
- 57:47Speaker 1: whole culture is just out here. They're like, uh, I
- 57:50Speaker 1: watched way too much random shit on YouTube. But there's
- 57:53Speaker 1: this guy named Dark White Underbelly. You watch the shit.
- 57:56Speaker 1: Uh huh. So he interviews like prostitutes and like careers
- 58:00Speaker 1: and all kinds of great shit. But dude, in La
- 58:03Speaker 1: like in fucking uh, where's the homeless? People ask Roll,
- 58:07Speaker 1: They're all like they don't want I was just gonna say,
- 58:09Speaker 1: where are they not? No, no, they don't want normal
- 58:12Speaker 1: drugs Like there they specifically are smoking fentanyl, like they're
- 58:16Speaker 1: like proof, They're like fentanyl proof. But I think it's
- 58:20Speaker 1: like everything else, like once your body has felt it
- 58:24Speaker 1: and gets it in certain amounts, you can. But I
- 58:27Speaker 1: think it's just I don't get it at all. I
- 58:28Speaker 1: don't understand. So it's definitely put a damper on my
- 58:31Speaker 1: cocaine heard. I'm in the prime of my career. I
- 58:33Speaker 1: should be out here living like fucking Jerry Buss in
- 58:36Speaker 1: the seventies, fucking eighties. I should be out here just
- 58:39Speaker 1: fucking me and my wife should just be out here
- 58:41Speaker 1: fucking bitches and fucking doing just fucking just piles of
- 58:47Speaker 1: cocaine every night and drinking Scotch for breakfast. And instead
- 58:51Speaker 1: we're having to run around like she's probably got an
- 58:54Speaker 1: STD and that cocaine's probably got fen all in it. Jesus, ye,
- 59:00Speaker 1: just wrong. Wrong. That makes me think about this. Have
- 59:03Speaker 1: you ever thought about what the backstage you look like
- 59:05Speaker 1: at a concert in the seventies and eighties? Oh? Yeah, man,
- 59:08Speaker 1: it was amazing, dude. There was not a camera in sight. Yeah.
- 59:12Speaker 1: I just imagine topless women running around and passing out
- 59:15Speaker 1: Heroin kids, heroin kits, fucking dig peels right, just like Yo,
- 59:22Speaker 1: here's a blue shoe and a fucking shot of heroin, right,
- 59:26Speaker 1: and they're just running around. Everybody's just origining. Go to
- 59:29Speaker 1: blue shoo dot com promo code bootleg and get your
- 59:32Speaker 1: first month. There you go, baby, go to the blue
- 59:34Speaker 1: shoe dot com and look at see I'll run your
- 59:37Speaker 1: promos for you. Got a ad read, I'll do it
- 59:39Speaker 1: with you right now. The blue shoes work, They do work.
- 59:41Speaker 1: I know. Souls convinced me to have Yeah, I took
- 59:45Speaker 1: a blue shoe. Wake up in the morning, that dick hard.
- 59:47Speaker 1: The wind blows and it's like, hello, you have that
- 59:49Speaker 1: piston boner in the morning. Yeah, And I just I
- 59:52Speaker 1: need all the help I can get in that department.
- 59:54Speaker 1: Hey man, as belly goes out, it goes in. It's
- 59:58Speaker 1: like a turtle just receiding. It's just get the it's
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: a It's fucking bad, dude. It's disappearing and smelling bad.
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: I'm fucking for sure. It's so bad. It's just it's
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: fucking horrible. Maybe that's why we're not having orgies backstage
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: and doing cocaine too. Eternal don't come out much. When
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: he does, he smells like a swamp. I can't believe
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: my wife loves me. I'm fucking I'm such a disappointment. Yeah.
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: I thought about this eighties thing the other day because
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: we were at a festival and I'm backstage and I
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: looked around and there was like a dude from another
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: rock band complaining about having a peanut allergy and asking
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: where the vegan options were and if there was any
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: peanuts in the room at all, And I'm like, fucking
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: Vince Neil would be sickened by you. It's like fucking
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: you know what, some where crazy. I talked to Chad
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: from Nickelback, and he's actually one of the cool ones.
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: I think Nickelback gets a bad rap. They're kind of
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: like the go to band to be like they're they're gay. Listen,
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: but if you don't think, but no one's gayer than Creed.
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: Creed is the real Nickelback. I tell you, I tell
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: you what I can say this. I don't have a
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: Creed song. I bumped very often at all, but I
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: can tell you that rock stars still fucks. Oh yeah,
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: and Nickelback might make the best white strip club music ever.
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: You go into a white strip club and a chick
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: that's the size of the rail of that light over
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: there is just slow thrusting. That's like a fucking go
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: to at the white strip club. Say it's worth saving.
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: She's saving up to go to gatherings. She's just slow thrusting. Yes, yes,
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: oh godh by the way, you have you done the
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: gathering of the juggle? I've done it nine times. I
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: have tripped acid all nine times. I was there the
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: year they threw ship at Tila Tequila. Oh, I was there.
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: It was awesome. It was so incredible. It was the
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: greatest moment ever. She got on stage and they started
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: booing her, and then she just like leaned into it
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: and like pulls her top off and starts shaking her titties,
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: and like she thought, like Juggalos would be like, Oh, well, no,
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: we're gonna cheer for that. These are jugglos, bitch. Everybody
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: out here shaking their titties and fucking smells like my pecker.
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: It's you know what I'm saying, Not because I'm a
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: Juggalo at heart, not because Juggalos think, but because they've
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: been camping for five days in the woods in fucking
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: eighties and ninety eight degree weather and doing drugs right,
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: and you're shaking your tits and they just start throwing
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: just bottles of shit and pists ad her. I'd like
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: to point out I haven't met many Juggalos that I've
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: came away from being around and said they smell nice. Yeah, well, listen,
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: I've got some of the best drugs and weed on Earth.
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: I can tell you this. If I have a car,
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: Oh sorry about that, let's pop it right on. I've
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: been fucking with this to the point I was trying
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: trying to break it, f take it off. Yeah no,
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: I want to plug the cash. You know I might
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: have did it though there look at me. Fucking let's
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: go son. If I break down on the side of
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: the road and I see a car pull up with
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: that hatchet man, oh you're good. Thank you. The most
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: genuine people. That's why I said I'll always be a
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: Juggleo at heart. Those people are the best people on earth.
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: And you want to get good acid, you call a
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: fucking juggalo. If you don't call a dude, that's a
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: fucking dead head. If you got to either have a
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: teddy bear tattooed on you or a hatchet man tattooed
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: on you to give me any psychedelic except for you.
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: G it's literally it's so funny. There's like teachers now
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: with like hatchetman tattoos and ship Oh yeah for sure
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: that we're just tripping balls watching tea tequila, get big
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: old jango pants, fucking great Malnko jerseys. Yeah, oh yeah,
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: just fucking do you remember those Jinko's, Yeah, you had,
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: but you never had a pair of. My cousin was
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: a big juggle I'm guilty. I had you remember, like
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: the bottom of them. How like crusty they'd get because
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: they dragged your shreg Oh my god, I love crusty
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: stuff though, you probably, but you could put a whole
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: two liter in the pocket. Yeah, oh you could put anything. Listen,
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: yo yo, this is the vantage of being fat. I
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: had this pocket right here in my dimm jackets. I
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: can put a bottle of tequilan, smuggle it anywhere. Wow,
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: true story. I am always I normally have a bottle
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: of tequila on me. When you were at the liquor
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: store earlier, I thought that's what you were getting, so
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: I didn't bring any No, I had to get water.
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: Oh is there was there a drug bridge at the
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: gathering in the it was the bridge ever so there's
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: like so at the gathering of the Juggalos. I don't
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: know if it still is the case I gotta take,
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: but there's a supposed to be like a free drug
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: bridge or some shit, right, And I heard there's like
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: a fuck hut. Dude, it's a community fucking I wonder
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: what that smells like in there though. The hut. Well,
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: I have a reference point. But did you ever fucking
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: the fuck hut at the gathering? I'd never fucked in
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: the fuck hut at the gathering. I fucked at the gathering.
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: At the gathering. Fucks it is awesome. It will change listen.
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: So they used to have it cave in Rock, Illinois.
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: The only way to get there was during the day
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: by faery. You had to take a ferry, or you
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: had to drive like four hours around the other way
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: to get there, or you could take a ferry over
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: There was a private property, so they could do anything anything.
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: It was a complete fucking chaos. It was absolute lawlessness.
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: You know what. The same thing of the gathering is
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: mud parks. I play mud parks all the time. These festivals,
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: these off road ATV parks, they're the gathering for country people.
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: They go out there and camp for four days and
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: fucking it's lawless. They do drugs, they fuck, They fucking
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: drink themselves to sleep, they catch it on fire, and
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: they ride fucking four wheelers. It is heaven on earth.
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: It is the best experience I've ever Every time I
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: play one, I pull up early, I have somebody bringing
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: four wheelers out. We tear shit up. It is a blast.
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: The gathering is the exact same way. It's just like
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: it's like everybody's there for the music and piece. You
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: don't hear people arguing juggal thing if it's like a
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: family oriented fan base, right, Yeah, for sure. No, that's
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: their whole thing is family. It's a dude, I'll take
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: you to one. They're a ball. I tried to play
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: this one this year, but I had a scheduling. I've
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: been doing a few shows where they shoot they go
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: into the crowd. Yeah, yeah, that's like the show. They
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: do it the last night too, But they did. They
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: did a tour Tech nine, cotton Mouth, Kings and Bone
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: Thus that was one of the biggest tours ever own
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: things in harmony. Yes, what a fucking saw them had
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: a crazy name to it. They did masa Amphitheater, which
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: is like six thousand people sold out and never fucking
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: launching two leaders into the sky of fego. How hard
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: it was to sell hard tickets back then. You couldn't
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: like you had to advertise like traditional ways true, Like
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: I remember I used to always get I used to
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: always just pick up a New Times, which is like
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: a free newspaper in Arizona, and you just go in
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: there and see what shows. That's the only way I
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: knew which shows were coming. Now it's like the internet
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: I played. Yellow Wolf has a fucking one of my
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: favorite gathering stories ever. They shot a bottle rocket while
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: he was performing m and he goes at this moment,
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: fucking true yellow Wolf fast and he goes, which they
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: wasn't shooting it, like to be mean, It's just a gathering, right,
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: They're just fucking shooting fireworks. And he goes, I bet
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: you can't hit me with a bottle rocket, dude. Hundreds
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: of juggalos just start shooting bottle rockets. Yellow Wolf He's
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: up there like dude, He's slipping them like Tyson in
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: eighty four. He's moving boom there, whizzing find he goes,
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: Hahi by the fuckers, and he's rapping while doing it.
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: It was like one of the dopest things I've ever seen.
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: Have you heard Yellowolf's rock album? I love it. It
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: is so fucking good. Yes to make Me make Me
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: a Believer thing. It's crazy. The video is crazy. Oh,
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: I got the radio record everything I think I told him.
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: I was like, this feels like it just feels like big.
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: It feels arena rocky, old school arena rock. Yeah, it
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: feels like I told him this the other day. It
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: was like, I feel like you should be opening up
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: for like fucking Motley Crew or fucking like the Rolling Stones.
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: Like this ship sounds like you should be opening for
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: the Rolling Stones. It's like big ship, big fun. It's
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: so fucking good. And I thought that was dope fro
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: him to do that, to get that loose with that
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: right after coming off you know, the Male Zero project
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: and the Caskie Ship. Yeah, shout out to a shooter Jennings. Ye.
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: Sometimes why that is struggles, brother struggles, uncle struggles, Okay, struggles,
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: uncle shooters what we called him. Were you in struggle
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: do another joint? We're doing another one now you are. Well,
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: we're putting those out until we're fucking like Grumpy Old
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: Men or the Grumpy Old Men movies. That'll be me
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: in struggle putting out projects when we're seventy. I remember
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: the Yeah, the Grumpy Old Men was I remember that.
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: What was the guy's name? He one had white hair
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: and one had that big fu Yeah, I forgot the
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: names of it. But it's like, well, that'll be me
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: in struggle. We'll be like putting out project. Yeah. He
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: makes me feel really fat every time I see him
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: on Instagram. Listen you want to fuck you imagine how
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: he looks like a fucking action figure. Yeah, he's fucking yeah, No,
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: I hate him. I'm like, bro, yeah, no, I've seen him.
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: He's just walking around with his shirt off, fucking doing.
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: He looks like he's a professional cage fighter. He does.
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: What the fuck is happening with you? Yeah? And I
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: couldn't be doing more of the opposite. I'm just like
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: fucking eating sandwiches and drinking myself into a coma every
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: night and fucking waking up with a hangover and having
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: to eat my way through it the next day. I'm
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: saying or blowing fucking cocaine boogers out. I'm having like
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: the total opposite moment of my life and struggles having
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: Right now. I just rewatched the first episode of uh
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: fucking Snowfalls. You see Snowfall? Oh? Yes, you know, like
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: that first episode the FBI agent. I think it blows
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: cocaine up his ass and he dies, or the other way. No, No,
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: he blows cocaine up her ass and she dies and
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: then he has to clean up the body. I say
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: out to say, have you ever snored? A cocaine off
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: of a woman's asshole. Yes, how was that incredible? I
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: think I did my wife. To be honest with me
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: and my wife. First, me and my wife sober now,
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: but when we first got together, I was the doll one. Yeah,
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: shout out to my wife. Man, she's she is the
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: sober one. And but she was like a fucking mad
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: woman when I first got with her. You know, I
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: think the first five times I've seen her, I just
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: I just asked her for a bump in a xanax
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: bar like in past, and I was like, you got
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: a bump? She's like yep, And she'd feed me a
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: fucking just big old fucking hogger. And then I'd be like,
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: later that night i bump into her again at some
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: bar or some casino, I'd be like, you got a xanax.
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: She's like yep. She'd like she was like a past
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: dispenser of drugs. That's fucking great. Yeah. Literally, she was
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: just like the fucking she was the mountain ferry in
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: the bathroom, right, she was back to you know, she
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: was just running around just feeding it did too much cocaine.
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: It's hard to fuck on that, right. Oh well, fuck
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: I mean, we've already discussed my struggles. I would need
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: a blue shoe times two in a miracle. It's fucking
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: is it harder to fuck when you're at the size
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: you are in terms of just like the geometry of
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: the situation, like playing fucking uh twister, left foot on yellow,
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: right hand on red, Move this here, set this on
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: your back, was saying turn this one. I mean, I
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: feel like you were. You did have an error though,
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: where you lost a lot of weight. I did, Yeah did,
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: Yeah I did, And believe it or not, let's be clear.
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: I'm I'm down like twenty five thirty pounds. I joked
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: that great. I'm taking my health serious. I go see
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: my cardiologist every three months. But you're trying to get
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: losing the weight at a good rate. I don't want
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: to lose it too fast because of the heart. When
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: people are like, I don't want to see nothing bad
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: happen to you, Like, look, I used to do cocaine
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: and sip lean, y'all, I'm gonna be okay. Don't worry
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: about me. I'm I'm all right. I'm being facetious more
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: often than not. But yeah, it's like, fuck, I lose
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: the weight again. Pandemic Just fucking did it to me,
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: you know, just fucking me too. I never had to
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: sit still. I lost like forty pounds. Oh u, I
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: gained forty pounds. You know what's crazy? You were like
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: me though. I never had to sit Yeah, it was
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: like the first time from years of touring that God
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: was just like, no, you're gonna just sit here. You
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: had to cancel some shows too. Oh fuck a whole
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: Tech nine tour. That's right, fifty seven cities or something happened.
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: It's the best tour that never took off. Wow, I
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: forgot that heartbreak and now we have a gold record
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: together that we've never even performed, Creature's Gold. Yeah, jeez,
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: it's fucking nuts. I forgot and then he had to
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: redo it. But with Ritz yep, Shout out to Ritz,
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: Shout out to Ritz. Still fucking out there, slugging, still
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: out there, is going to rits Man. I can tell
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: you this. Ain't nobody out rapping rits I don't disagree. Mean,
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: he knows this, how he knows how I feel about him. No,
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: ain't nobody out rapping rits Man. You know when when
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: he's in his bag, ain't nobody fucking with that dude. Man,
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: I just hope one day Ritz can have an honest
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: bio book because he has some of the craziest stories
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: that he can never tell on camera. Oh it's fucking
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: it's a wild boy. That No, that dude's fucking nuts.
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: I'm a little crazy. He's a lunatic. Yeah, he's a
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: fucking lunatic. Yeah, he's crazy. Cool watching that whole scene
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: and everybody grow the way they have for sure, for
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: sure leaving like a guy like Caski. You know, look,
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: he records here, he just did this album here. Yeah,
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: love what he's doing. You know y'all talked about on
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: the podcast. Obviously we all got in a weird spot
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: because CASKI ended up like dissing some other dudes that
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: we associate with in the circuit. And it's like, I'm glad,
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: I'm glad that somehow paralleled into this, because you know
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: what hurts me about that whole situation is watching a
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: bunch of really good dudes that don't know each other
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: have a problem with each other and me knowing every
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: one of them personally and being like, y'all are all
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: really good dudes. Though. Look, if you guys ever actually
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: hung out. Yeah, Like if you knew Adam Calhoun's heart,
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: and that dude is a fucking sweetheart. Man, He's a
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: good fucking father. He's a dedicated you know, he's just
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: like a good dude. That's fair, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: Like it's like if you knew that about him, Like
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: how much he just celebrates other people winning and how
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: much he's one of the first text I get every
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: time I do something cool, you him, And there's a
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: group of people that every time something even looks cool,
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: he's one of the first texts. Like such a sweetheart,
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: CASKI I've watched since he was a kid, like that.
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: He's a great dude, Like Cask's not a bad Yeah,
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: I don't know what the root of their issue is.
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: I think that you know what I think, man, this
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: is what I truly think. I think that during the
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: pandemic and I'm I'm like a really independently thinking guy.
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: I kind of consider myself like more in like the
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: Joe Rogan lane of politics, socially liberal. I want to
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: I want to protect my family. I want to be
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: able to, you know, obviously within reason, have access to weapons,
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: and you know, I do feel like eighteen year old
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: kids who just graduated high school shouldn't be able to
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: go by two ar fifteen's without taking a class or something.
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: I'm not saying take the guns, just like you know,
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: maybe go through a course before you get something like that.
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: But I do think that like a guy like al
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: Adam Alhoun, who I didn't know anything about except for
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: when CASKI because I'm closed with CASKI. And then the
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: first thing I just see is all this politics, shiit this,
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: you know, the mag of shit. And to me, I'm like,
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: all right, well, anybody who rides out it'd be like
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: if there was a Joe bid like a rapper riding
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: for Joe Biden, I'd be like crazy, right, And so
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: you know, and that's why, like I like, when I
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: saw that, I was just like, yeah, dude, like I
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: don't I don't get that ship. And and to me, like,
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: at the end of the day, people make music for
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: all types of audiences. And you know, I think a
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: guy like Struggle is like a perfect example of somebody
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: who may feel however he feels, but he's just making
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: music and he's not like making it in a divisive
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: way that makes fans feel that they have to shoot,
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: Like if does that make sense? What I'm saying, Like
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: that makes more sense than anything. And I live in
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: the complete opposite world of everybody. I don't have an
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: opinion about this shit at all. Like I hate our government.
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: I hated our government with every president we've had since
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: I was like fourteen, because they charged me as an
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: adult for a crime I committed when I was fucking
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: fifteen years old. They took every right I have away
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: from him. Because of that, I am personally protesting our
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: government I have been forever. It's like, I don't give
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: a fuck. I think it's all a divide and conquer thing.
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: I think a two party system is just meant for failure, right,
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: So I don't get him wrapped of it, none of
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: that shit. But my thing is too, is that this
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: is I tell you this story, and this is what
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: changed my perspective. My brother's here, he knows this to
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: be true. My father was I don't think I've ever
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: said this publicly. My father was a progressive man. He
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: probably leaned a little liberal in his older age, right.
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: My uncle was a progressive man that leaned a little
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: conservative in his own older age. They grew up together
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: three years apart, best fucking friends from birth seventy in
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: their seventies, my father was more of a Methodist Church
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: kind of man, which is a kind of a portion
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: of a Catholic thing, not a portion, but it rides
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: that fensive kind of direct to the scripture, real, stand up, pray, simple.
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: You know. My uncle at the time especially was more
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: of a Pentecostal guy, which is more of you know,
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: you know, there's a big difference. Right. One day, when
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: my dad was dying, I said, how have you and uncle?
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: You have been best friends for all these years, and
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: y'all don't agree about anything. My father set me straight.
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: He said, what are you talking? We don't agree about anything.
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: He said, we slightly disagree about two things. We agree
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: about a thousand things. He's like, I don't understand why
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: the world wants to talk about the two things they
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: don't agree about instead of the thousand things we can
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: make progress with that we do agree with. Right, And
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: that just changed the way I look at life. You
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. It's like immediately I look past it,
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: So I guess it's like even with the ship, I
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: don't think I'm old school enough to think that. You know,
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: I don't know what I think about politics being the music. Right,
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: it's been around as long as we've been around. YEAHBLIC pests,
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: public Enemy is making protest music, raige against the machine.
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: It's been happening, so, you know, it's funny. I was
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: thinking about it, Like when Adam and them first started rapping.
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: I would look at that like, oh, dude, these dudes
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: are like, this isn't protest music. They're green with the government.
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: And then there's a regime switch in America, right, the
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: part of the political parties changes and suddenly it's like, oh,
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: well that's protest music now. And that just showed me
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: how unstable the foundation of America is in itself. Yeah,
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: I mean, I guess with that dude, you know, I
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: don't know much about his whole catalog. I guess I've
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: just seen a few these guys some stuff that's really dope.
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: But then I've seen like there's but then there's other
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: guys like you know, I'll see like a the dude
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: from Florida, what's that dude's name, the MAGA rapper dude Blood. Yeah,
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: now that to me, to me, that ship is just corny.
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: It's corny to me because I know what he was
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: doing before he was doing he was doing the blue
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: hair fucking bootleg riff raff ship I lived, was doing
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: like the the white Rick Ross thing, right. Yeah, it
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: was like his angle, And to me it's like low
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: hanging fruit and it's like the artist the artistic integrity
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: is like, Yo, you're kind of like putting all your
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: eggs in this basket, but that basket has a ceiling
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: that's this high for sure. I guess when you've been
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: making shitty rap music for as long as that guy
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: has any fandom, you're gonna be like, well, I'm making
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: money over here, so I'm gonna lean into this ship.
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: But to me, it's just like divisive. But I do think,
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: like I said, like, you know, it's important like for
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: me if I if I don't agree with somebody on
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: certain ship like I have. I have people in my
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: life who will cut people off based on like their
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: opinion on one or two things. And to me, that's
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: never like uh productive, No, it's like and that I
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: guess that that goes back to my thing with him
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: was like I know Adam outside of the music. I
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: know cast outside of the music. I know, everybody was
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: politically charged in that moment except for Jolly Roll because
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: fuck our government forever. But it's one of those things
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: where like, I know these dudes to be good dudes,
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: so you look when that happens, and you're like, I
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: wish I could get y'all together to just like talk
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: like responsible dudes and like, you know what I mean,
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: like y'all have so much, like y'all would actually have
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: a have a hilarious conversation. Tom McDonald's the same way.
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: You know. Yeah, yeah, he's from Canada, but he's fucking
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: you know, I don't. I don't like again like I did,
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: because he's independent and I I I'm also kind of
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: like I like when you know, he does a lot
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: of the YouTube rap shit, like you know, And I
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: watched a vlog he did about uh him and that
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: dude's album being fucked on Billboard, and I watched that
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: because I was actually interested in that because I'm like, yo,
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: as an independent artist, that's crazy what that dude's doing.
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: I might not fuck with his music, right, but it's
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: insane the business he's built, right, and it's like just
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: him and his girl. Yeah, for sure, No, that's the
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: shit I can look past and I'm like, yo, this
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: is this respectable like, you know, like I might not
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: agree with, like I might not be a fan of
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: like his shit, like it's just not for me, but
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: I can at least appreciate it. Independent artists doing that
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: kind of shit. That shit's crazy. He's got a record
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: he put out called Scars. It's like a rock kind
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: of driven record. That's fucking incredible songwriting. And that's kind
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: of where I live with everybody, right, Like I'm just
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: always looking for I don't know, I guess I'm a songwriter,
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: so I'm kind of overarm and all that other shit anyway,
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: So I'm like, does he have a song I thought
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: was written really well? And Adam's got a few cask
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: He's got a lot yellow Holfs, got more than probably anybody.
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: Struggles got to tell him. These are dudes that I'm
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: just like rits that I can just look at and
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: be like, Yo, I don't you know, I don't give
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: a fuck if you were the biggest Biden support on Earth.
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: This song fucks you know what I'm saying, Like this,
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: I'll tell you this much. It's like listen r Kelly's
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: a piece of shit. I love his music. You're not
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: gonna get me to quit listening to I wish. You
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: just can't do that to me, dude, I'm sorry, cancel me.
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: Fuck it. How about this somebody from the artist? Somebody
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: cover it then, But don't take a song that I
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: played at funerals away from me, because this man's just comeback.
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: Somebody cover it, Like, don't tell me something about Michael
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: Jackson and the Human Nature is one of my favorite
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: songs ever. You know, somebody cover it. If there's a
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: better version out there, I'll bump it, you know what
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: I'm saying, that's for sure. But it's like, man, that
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: fucking so dude, I've cried dozens of tears that I
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: wish it's a great record. I love our I mean. R.
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: Kelly is probably my favorite R and B singer ever,
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: outside of him being a piece of shit strictly discography
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: twelve play. You know, if I didn't know his name,
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: or know that he pissed on Little Girls or watch
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: the fucking wild R. Kelly series, that was fucking nuts.
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: Oh my god. If I didn't know that it was
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: just the voice of the radar, I'd be like, Yo,
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: this fucking slaps Yeah, it's it's it's crazy. How do
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: you like? Do you do you even participate? We're talking
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: about the politics. Should you vote? Do you like? Are
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: you able to? Because A yeah, man, fuck our government.
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: You know who? You know who I want to vote for?
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: Who gives me the right to vote? You show me
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: this guy. I rally behind him tomorrow. I don't care
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: what party he's a part of. The Dude who's like yo,
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: Because listen, I'm fighting to get into Canada. Fighting tough, dude,
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: I'm New Zealand. There's a ton of places that you
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: just can't go to that you're like life changing. Money
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: is sitting. Get done to get into Canada, Dude, I've
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: got to get a minister's permit. I've got to get
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: a lawyer. It's gonna cost one hundred thousand dollars to
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: even see if it can happen. I'm gonna have to
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: just throw one hundred thousand dollars into a wishing well.
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: I just had to pay like thirty thousand dollars to
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: get a passport just to be able to leave America.
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: I just had to go clean up so much shit
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: just to be able to leave America for my criminal records.
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: Like and I love when somebody for sure will comment
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: on this. Buildings can vote, buildings can do this, And
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: they're going to put up a bunch of links that
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: I've already went to and tried to figure out. Tennessee
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: has a zero forgiveness policy for violent offenders. Unfortunately, I
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: was fifteen years old. I'm not proud of it. I
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: committed a violent offense that they deemed hard enough for
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: me to be charged as an adult three years before
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: I mean a year and a half before I fucking
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: grew up sack of hair on my sack. I was
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: charged as an adult three years before I was allowed
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: to buy a pack of cigarettes five years according to
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: the age thing now, which I just found out yesterday,
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: you have to be twenty one to buy cigarettes. Now,
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: that's how much I don't give a fuck about policies
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: and politics. I missed that completely, but three years for ultimately,
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: what I'm getting at here is because of something I
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: did when I was a child, the government has taken
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: away tons of rights for mine. The right to vote,
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: getting home on their insurance was next to impossible, renting houses,
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: renting the buildings to work out of studios. There's so
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: many things associated with if you're NFL. It's like when
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: people they always say, like you almost have to lie
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: on a job out of you have to for sure.
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: So it's like, I go through all these struggles and
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: then you want me to talk about like you should
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: speak up about politics. You don't want to hear my
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: randmotherfucker fuck our government. It fucked me, fucked me, fucked me.
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: I think we're just like in a place where the
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: far the far right and the far left are controlling
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: the narrative and dividing the country. That a country that
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: most people agree on more shit than they don't, for sure,
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: but the extreme opposite of each side is so fucking crazy,
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: and it's like, are we in the fucking episode of
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: the part's the hardest thing to watch. It goes back
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: to just divide and concer. It's all divisive, all divisive, man,
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: Any any system is that way. It's just it's it's
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: made to eat us from the end side out. And
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: that's just I feel like it's getting worse. Yeah, it's
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: only gonna get worse. And I'll start speaking more publicly
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: about how I feel about politics when I fucking they
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: start making ship right by us. And that's just how
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: I feel. I feel like everybody's I'm just I gonna
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: know I'm better. Holy Graduate, Florida. If you're a felon,
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: you can vote, Yeah, I mean you can in Tennessee
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: if you have a forge a forgivable felone. Yeah. It's
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: like I have to get a governor's pardon, which I'm
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: working on. I'm talking to building. You're kind of you know,
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: you're you're a big guy now. Yeah, And it's like
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: I work in good circles. We have a Democratic mayor
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: in Nashville. We're friends, we get along well. I have
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: a Republican governor. We're friends and we get along with
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: I do a lot for the community. I'm always trying
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: to push the ball for it. I'm big. I'm donating
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: one hundred percent of the money from the Bridgetonne Arena
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: show to at risk youth. I'm building a music center
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: inside of the Juvenile Downtown Wow and we're putting together
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: with the Youth Impact Rears out to Robert Sherrill. We're
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: building aftercare program that kids will be cornered ported to
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: if they get charged as juveniles. I'm fixing to put
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: my money in my mouth. There's gonna be a lot much.
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: I'm gonna make a big difference. You're selling out your
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: hometown and then putting that money right back in that
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: big and I'm matching it on top of the top
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: of it. That's crazy. I'll tell you what the number
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: is off camera. That's a lot, man, I mean, I'm
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: sure it's a lot. It's a lot. Sounds like about
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: a quarter. It's you're warm, but not hots you that much.
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: I mean it's it's a lot of money. That's beautiful, man. Yeah,
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: what is that? Because that's what I'm passionate about. Right.
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: So when people are like, what do you think about,
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: you know, whatever's happening in the world today, I'm like,
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: I don't know, man. I'm just trying to figure out
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: a way that i can help some fourteen year old
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: kid not throw his life away at fourteen, not make
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: the same mistakes I did. Yeah, dude, they wouldn't let
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: me in the community college because of my felonies. What
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: I had, a community college that couldn't get me the
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: money because of my felonies. You know you're talking about, dude.
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: I was fucking fifteen, man, I mean, thank god it
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: worked out the way it worked out for me. But yeah, dude,
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: I could have been a fucking doctor or something. I
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: don't know. Guy's the limit. The way I'm driving, I
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: could have been a brainshurting. I'm helping more people doing music,
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: so you think you can that felony at that age
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: put you on a path for sure. And my big
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: problem with this is you're not talking about a decision
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: that like adult makes adults make, right. We're not talking
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: about like the revolving door of a grown man who
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: needs to change his life, like you're talking about a kid.
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: Like these kids don't know any better. They're just products
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: of their environment. They're just trying to figure out what's
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: next for them. It's fucking fucked up. They don't get
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: that there's another opportunity. I didn't realize. There's no way.
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: I was in my mid twenties before I realized how
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: much I fucked up at fifteen? Does that make sense?
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: Like before my brain could actually go, oh my god,
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: I like, really fucking what if you don't mind sharing
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: what happened? It was a robbery case. It was a
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: robbery case, and uh, we were just kids, you know,
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: The saddest part is we were robbing a guy for weed,
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: but one of the other guys in there wasn't a
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: weed dealer and had some money and a watch or something.
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: We were like, we were just fucking neighborhood kids. Man,
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: we're doing doesn't make it right. I'm embarrassed by it.
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: I never talk about it. The first podcast ever said
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: what the charge was. I'm extremely embarrassed by this. Right,
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: I'm nowhere near that man now, but thirty seven year
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: old man twenty fucking one years later, twenty two years later,
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: I had to explain that to my home insurance, my
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: homeowner insurance people that tried to charge me more for
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: being at risk. Wow, you know what I mean when
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: you're just like, are you fucking you know? I had
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: a moment the other day where my child's mother, Bailey.
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: Bailey's mother's Felicia, and she's sober now. She was hooked
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: on heroin for a while. I'm proud of she's sober,
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: and me and the wife do everything we can't help her.
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: Custody of your daughter, we still do full custody, Yes,
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: I still do. Me and my wife. My wife made
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: all that happen. Bunny and her really close, Bunny and Felicia,
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: Bailey's mother, And she calls us and goes, hey, I'm
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: trying to move closer to Bailey. I'm a felon. Can
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: you get us a place? Can I put a place
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: in your name? And I don't think twice. I'm like, yeah,
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: for sure, I got you, dude, I got whatever. You know,
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: I'll go fuck send an application. I feel that out
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: right now. I forgot I'm a felon, so it fucking
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: fires back on me. And then she can't get there.
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: Now we're doubled down in fuck, so we gotta find
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: a new place and put it in Bunny's name, you
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: know what I mean. It's like I've been I haven't
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: been on the lease of any house that I didn't
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: own ever. You know what's crazy is when me and
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: my wife first moved to Cali, I had a misdemeanor
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: and she had some duy shit right, And you would
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: have thought that we were murderers the way people were
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: like denying our fucking are our shit? Like it was
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: like what the fuck? Yeah, No, for sure, it's crazy. No,
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: it's fucking our system is fucked in so many ways. Yeah,
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: and I feel like if you're a felon, it's almost
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: like having a like the scarlet letter in society. Right,
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: It's like, dude, like you really really almost as like
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: impossible for you to really have like a normal fucking life.
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: You really need help from other people to like get
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: shipped or to like appreciate someone to take a chance,
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: give you an opportunit unity getting good jobs. Do you
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: know what's crazy is that I couldn't be in the
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: medical field if I wanted to. There's like four or
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: five industries that just wept. Even if you get the
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: job and maybe you want to be a supervisor manager,
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: you can't. No, there's a wall. Even if there's jobs
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: that'll let you get there, it's like, no, we just
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: move because they look at you. You're a felon. No,
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: it's fucking It's as wrong as it can be. It's sad. Yeah,
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: I think that's some broken ship man. Yeah, Like there's
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: like no forgiveness, like no societal forgiveness. I get it
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: if you like fucking you know, are a fucking creep
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: or you did some but like I say it all
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: the time, I think fucking pedophile should be shot on
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: National TV every Friday for our enjoyment. It's a great
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: I think they should tell us a story. They should
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: show us the family's pain. They should show us the
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: weirdo and we should get to watch them be headed
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: that we should have it. We should. They should sell
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: it like pay per views and then give that money
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: to the family. Watch every Friday. I'd pay every Friday.
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: They get twenty bucks out of me every Friday to
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: watch them. They had a pedophile, right, you know what
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: I'm saying. If it went like you know, I trust me,
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: I'm not like I'm not you know, I'm just on
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: the justice reform as far as like the decision there
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: of course, especially if you do some stupid shit as
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: a kid, for sure. Yeah, it's like, come on, dude,
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: if you stay, I think if you give me an opportunity,
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: opportunity to restitute it out, Like let me go give
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: these dudes whatever they think they lost times fifty and
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: then square it up with these dudes that were we
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: robbed twenty two years ago, and then let me, you know,
- 1:33:30Speaker 1: like make me. I don't care if I have to
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: work for it, just give me a fucking option. Like
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: just don't say no, man, it's hard state policy. You
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: get zero forgiveness for that, or like if you're out
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: of the system long enough, like it doesn't show up,
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: or I don't know for sure something where Yeah, it's
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: just whatever, So what is next? Obviously, Jimmy Kimmel is
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: a big deal. I'm sure you're excited for that, But
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: what about just in terms of I know you for
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: a while, where are you technically independent? Are you still situation?
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: So I have a deal with Broken Bowl Records, which
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: is BMG, which I looked up that Dicky Black and
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: thought about that, and uh, it's it is a deal.
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: But I did maintain ownership of my master's which is huge.
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: It's a big deal. It's the deal is incredible and
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: the deal is so incredible that I'm not allowed to
- 1:34:18Speaker 1: talk about it. But the deal is incredible. It's awesome.
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: It's a great deal. I'm happy, and I don't know
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: a lot of people in record deals that are happy.
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: Most people aren't. Yeah, And I've been completely independent my
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: whole career, so I know the other side of that happiness,
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: and I'm happier now. You know. They've they've they've done
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: everything they said they were going to do times too.
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: I think they're worth every penny we pay them. You know,
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: I'm I just I am in love with this deal.
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: And is there going to be a big are you
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: going to be announcement tour anytime? Now? You know, we're
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: to know I'm shining down later this year. I got
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: a bunch of Brandley Gilbert dates. We're like on the
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: road NonStop still, and I know you're doing a lot
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: of shows in Florida Thursday and Friday of this week.
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: I'll literally fly straight from you know Burke Price's podcast
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: to go do a show is the plan. Yeah, I'm
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: gonna do over one hundred shows this year. I'm gonna
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: announce a big next year. It will be a big,
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: proper tour for me though. It'll be like your headlining,
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: your big headlining. I mean, obviously you've had a bunch
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: of headlining tours, but this would be like the headlining tour.
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: Yeah for sure. Because what is like if you were
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: to get booked, like what do you what do you say?
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: Is like your average cap like it for a solo
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: jelly roll show? If someone books you five to twelve thousand,
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: now fucking crazy man. Yeah for sure, few markets we
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: might still play thirty five and fours, but that's so big.
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: I suspect that if we don't play the UH. I
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: suspect that we'll either play the Honda Center when we
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: come back, or we'll play the Palladium two nights in
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: a row. That's my guess. That's my guess. Now that's fire.
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: It's my guess. That's my it's my hope. God willing
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: we go straight to the Hollywood Bowl or something next summer.
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: How's La as a market for you. I'm anxious to see,
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: because La is an interesting I don't come out here enough,
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: but I do know that, like northern California, Cali Country
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: is a big market for me, that's for sure. We're
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: doing Aftershock this year in Sacramento, oh shit, the Rock Festival,
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: so that'll be huge. Hopefully that'll bring some ass. I
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: just don't come out here enough. Yeah, you don't, man,
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: it's been a while. It's rough, man. It's a big
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: travel dude. It is a hike. Yeah, it's a big
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: tras five hours for yeah, about four hours and forty
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: five minutes in the air. It was rough. Your first class, yeah, yeah,
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: I gotta get that first class. Yeah. I mean I'm
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: too fat to sit anywhere else on that bland today
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: that much? Did they charge you twice if I had
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: to get two seats? If I do it any other way? Oh, really,
- 1:36:38Speaker 1: I don't have to, but I do just because I
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: respect you know. I don't want nobody pushed up on
- 1:36:41Speaker 1: me neither. Yeah, no matter what, you got a stranger
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: cuddling on your left and r Yeah, it's like either way,
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: I want to be as comfortable as possible. I just
- 1:36:48Speaker 1: don't like the concept of flying anyways, which is why
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: I got just blackout drunk today doing it. It's just
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: a weird fucking thing to me. The worst is when
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: you eat inedible and a going on a flight thinking
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: that it's going to like help you go to sleep.
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: I'm playing the Hotness Center this year, by the way.
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: You gotta come out, oh for men, shine down. Yeah,
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: we're doing a big spot in San Diego to summer.
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: I look at the dates, but we got a lot
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: of shit coming right around here. Have you ever had
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: a we ate an edible on a plane and freak
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: the fuck out. I have to eat an edible and
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: freak the fuck out once a week moment. Planes not planes,
- 1:37:22Speaker 1: just where I just overserve myself you know, I'm just
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: saying where there is a thin line, because like even this,
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: I can eat these, and if I eat too many,
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: it'll get wild. But I know, you know, I can
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: kind of like a little crazier than shrooms. If you
- 1:37:36Speaker 1: eat too you eat too much, I'm it gets fucking weird.
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: It's all anxiety, and it almost like you can't do anything.
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: No fuck no, like paralyz. Listen, man, it turns into
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: a psychedelic spiritual experience fast. Did I eat some Rick
- 1:37:51Speaker 1: Simpson oil pills the other day? Did we talk about
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: it on the phone. This is a great story too.
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: I come home really drunk and the wife's out of town,
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: and I hop on the game I'm playing, like Call
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: of Duty or something at like five in the morning,
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: and I had a Rick Simpson oil peel like Rso
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: I take it. I don't think nothing of it. I'm
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: so drunk I forgot I took it. So I look
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: over and I take another one. Thirty minutes later, I'm
- 1:38:20Speaker 1: so lit, I take a third one. I only know
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: the number because I had four and I woke up
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: with one. So this is me, assuming, this is me,
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: like reverse engineering, how my night went south? Right? Right.
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: At one point, my niece comes and wakes me up
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: on the couch. I'm asleep with a controller in my hand.
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: The sun is blaring through the house at seven forty
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: five in the morning. I'm shirtless, sockless, and in my boxers.
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: Imagine that look. And she wakes me up and goes, hey,
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: are you gonna go to bed? And I stumbled to
- 1:38:53Speaker 1: the bed and I fall asleep sitting up in the
- 1:38:56Speaker 1: bed watching Family Guy like Back to the Thing for
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: ten hours. keV and I woke up with the worst
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: anxiety I've ever woke up with. I felt like my
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: body was vibrating. Everything about it was wrong. I took
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: like the Adam Sandler longest pitchmer that Adam Sandler City
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: the world's longest. I mean, I pissed for like three
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: minutes straight. It felt like I pissed for so long.
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: I stopped and sat down. I was tired of standing
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: up trying to piss. My body was vibrating. I had
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: the worst anxiety of my life the entire next day. Yeah,
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: eating wheat is I just had a bad experience about
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: two weeks ago. Bro And I don't know if I
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: could ever. I don't know man, my worst nights of
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: my life have been too much edibles. Yeah, Like I
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: could eat a lot of shrooms and like, I'll fucking
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: it'll be out there, but I'll ground myself. Yeah. Eating
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: wheat is dangerous, man. And it's not even the same
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: thing as smoking, it's not even close. It's you feel
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: that stomach churn and you know you fucked up. Yeah,
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: you feel it in your gut and you're like, oh no,
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: this ain't it man, this is fixation. And you can
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: also hallucinate. Yes, I've hallucinated. Yeah. I the worst time
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: I've ever had. I ate a cake pop on my
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: way to yellowf and Ritz's show in Phoenix. And this
- 1:40:10Speaker 1: was like twenty thirteen, twelve something like that, and uh,
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: I was like new to eating weed, so I didn't
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: know anything about it. So I was like, oh, it's
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: a cake pop, so the whole thing, I guess. I
- 1:40:20Speaker 1: was also a quarter of it. Oh yeah, it was
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: like one hundred milligrams. I fucked up. How they do
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: that to you? They give you two hundred milligrams and
- 1:40:26Speaker 1: something this big and they're like, just eat a sweather out.
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: So I didn't. Yeah, So I didn't think much of it,
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: you know. And I interviewed Ritz on the bus and
- 1:40:35Speaker 1: they didn't hit me right. And then he was going
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: to go on stage and I was in the crowd
- 1:40:40Speaker 1: and it hit me like a ton of bricks at once,
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: and I couldn't move my legs. I was stuck in
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: a standing position, and I bro, I could have you
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: ever been so high in a place with a bunch
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: of people where you could look across the room full
- 1:40:55Speaker 1: of thousands of people and hone in on someone's conversation, Yes,
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: from very far away. Yes. So I felt like fucking
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: I had like superpowers. And then I look on stage
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: and Rich is performing and Garfield the cat is the
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: cartoons up there with like slot machine dollar signed eyes
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: going and I was just like my boy g O
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: was with me, and I was like, bro, do you
- 1:41:17Speaker 1: see the cat on stage? And I couldn't move. I
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: was stuck, and then I was puking everywhere. And then
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: everything that could have happened what was the name of
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: a Wolf's uh fucking extremely aggressive road manager Brooklyn. So
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: I'm like on the side of the stage, fucking tripping
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: the fuck out all the random crazy shit that could
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: happen in front of somebody who was tripping. Happened this dude,
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: Brooklyn pulled some dude off from the crowd, drags into
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: the side. He's two feet away from its beating the
- 1:41:56Speaker 1: shit out of this fucking guy. And I'm just like,
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: was crazy. Yeah, No, Brooklyn was fucking wild and he
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: didn't look like he was wild and wild boy. He
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: was an aggressive, normal looking guy, Yes, sir, just fucking
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: did not look like all the fucking time. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: so what you gotta Obviously you got music out now,
- 1:42:16Speaker 1: but what's like, what's coming the rest of the year. Oh, dude,
- 1:42:18Speaker 1: speaking of Brooklyn side and I got Bobby straight Edge
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: on tour. Me now shot to Bobby, good guy straight
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: Edge out there. It's been awesome. His first weekend was
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: last weekend. It was incredible. Yeah, he's good to have
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: the homie back because he just did the Tech Tour. Two.
- 1:42:30Speaker 1: He's road managing one of our buses. Dude, I'm cooking.
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: You know, I got a I got, you know, probably
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: twenty thirty forty songs on my phone that I feel
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: great about. I mean, you know, how typical songwriter. I
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: got a hundred songs in my phone. But I'm sure
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: the collaboration opportunities are getting bigger for you too, they are,
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: And I'm really really kind of reaching out for what
- 1:42:50Speaker 1: i want to do and I'm just taking. You know,
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: what I'm doing with this album, I've never done. I'm
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: kettle cooking it. It's a low cook. First, dude's in
- 1:42:57Speaker 1: the kettle pot. I'm not putting this one on a
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: skillet at this one. And the smoker this ain't on
- 1:43:02Speaker 1: the grill, you know what I mean. When I pulled
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: this one, I was gonna fall off the b own baby,
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: And that's my goal, you know what I mean. I'm
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: gonna really I'm like obsessing about songs, like obsessing about them.
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: So has the the country industry is a very it
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: feels like there's they're very like it's like this, right, yeah,
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: have they embraced you so far? So good man? You know,
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: it really helped me. Like it's some good old boys
- 1:43:27Speaker 1: club type shit kind of there's some good old boy
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: club shit there. There's some gatekeepers, but it's like, I
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: think the country music has been missing what we bring
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: to it. And that's what I was telling the Struggle
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: the other day because we're kind of working on a
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: country record with him, Well, he's working on the country record.
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: I'm trying to talk him and to put it out.
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: But they haven't had the kind of like raw authenticity
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: and outlaws shit that we bring the country music the
- 1:43:51Speaker 1: seventies seventies. They've had versions of it, like My Boy
- 1:43:54Speaker 1: Brantley Gilbert that came in the early two thousands, you know,
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: but it's like they haven't had it in so long
- 1:44:01Speaker 1: and like really authentic, right, you know, like somebody who
- 1:44:04Speaker 1: just doesn't give a fuck, you know. And it's like
- 1:44:07Speaker 1: and they know I'm a good dude, like at heart,
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: they know the story, you know, my parenting, my my relationships.
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: People that have been around me forever know that I'm
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: not a bad human. But they also know that I'm
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: a bit of a wild card and don't give a fuck,
- 1:44:21Speaker 1: and they love they kind of love it. They love
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: that there's gonna be a clip that's gonna come out
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: of this podcast where I'm talking about my pecker smelling bad. Right,
- 1:44:27Speaker 1: It's like you know what I mean, Like where traditionally
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: it'd be like there'd be a publicist in a room
- 1:44:31Speaker 1: in country interview, like what the fuck cut it right now?
- 1:44:34Speaker 1: I want to watch you delete that part where they
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: just kind of know that I'm always going to be
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: a little bit of a loose cannon. And that's credit
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: to Jonathan Loba, the head of Broken Bowl Records, the president.
- 1:44:44Speaker 1: You'll meet him this week, and I can't wait for
- 1:44:46Speaker 1: you to meet him. But Loba's got my back. He's like, look, man,
- 1:44:50Speaker 1: we know we're not mistaken with who we signed. So
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: every now and then somebody will kind of ruffle some
- 1:44:56Speaker 1: feathers about something I say that's wild and Lobo will
- 1:44:59Speaker 1: just be like, look, that's all guy, we knew, we know,
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: we knew, we know, Ja, you're not a robot bro
- 1:45:04Speaker 1: for sure. Yeah. Yeah, I didn't start the interview with
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: what I grew up in a town with three hundred
- 1:45:08Speaker 1: people right outside of you know. Yeah, I feel like
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: the country ship this is so overly packaged, feels very
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: like like like like everything is so on purpose and
- 1:45:18Speaker 1: so like unorganic. It's like, well, there's a lot of
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: there's a lot of people. It's changing now because country
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: music radio is getting bold and not afraid, which is awesome,
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: but there was a long time where it was packaged,
- 1:45:32Speaker 1: right like find a guy who has the right look,
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: decent voice, hook him up with hit songwriter, hook him
- 1:45:37Speaker 1: up with a hit producer, hook him up with stylists,
- 1:45:40Speaker 1: dress him a certain way, give them media training, send
- 1:45:44Speaker 1: him on a radio tour the Nashville version of K pop, right,
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: and then you send him on a media tour and
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: then insert big record here. You know. So, I feel
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: a lot of those country guys come and go yeah, yeah, one,
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: one hundred percent, like well, it's also weird because country
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: music is another genre like other genres, where you'll have
- 1:46:06Speaker 1: a dude who will have three or four number one
- 1:46:08Speaker 1: records that can't sell out the triba door and knows
- 1:46:10Speaker 1: what the he looks like, clueless and Kate's literally put
- 1:46:13Speaker 1: him on the radio like, Hey, your guy who sung
- 1:46:14Speaker 1: you these five songs in the last two years. They
- 1:46:17Speaker 1: love you, They know who the fuck you are. That's
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: the same shit with the rap shit. That's why I
- 1:46:21Speaker 1: tell people, I'm like yo, Like, dude, just because you
- 1:46:24Speaker 1: got hits don't mean people. What really tells you is
- 1:46:28Speaker 1: how are your herd tickets? Can you make people care?
- 1:46:31Speaker 1: Can you make people give a fuck about you enough
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: to where they'll spend harder and money to come see
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: perform your art and it's important that you take that
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: money serious. Right, It's like, you know what I think
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: about before I do shows. I look at the line
- 1:46:43Speaker 1: Every night a while, I go do a video, and
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: I think about how much of a pain in the
- 1:46:46Speaker 1: ass it is for me and my wife to have
- 1:46:48Speaker 1: a date night. M M right, Like, how hard is
- 1:46:52Speaker 1: it for you and your wife to have some all time?
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: It is tough, right, it is tough, so busy, so
- 1:46:57Speaker 1: much shit going on. So think about you went out
- 1:46:58Speaker 1: of your way to make this night happen, Like this
- 1:47:03Speaker 1: is your date night, this is your ship, Like you're
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: here to have a great time, and I can't, baby,
- 1:47:09Speaker 1: this is it. This might be the highlight of the year.
- 1:47:12Speaker 1: This might be the only time y'all got a babysitter
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: in a hotel room, filled the car up, put on
- 1:47:18Speaker 1: your best outfit. I imagine her ordering clothes. I imagine
- 1:47:22Speaker 1: her standing in the mirror, curling her hair. I imagine
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: him sitting on a couchul wish in that bitch with hurry.
