- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus, powered by Seahawks dot Com.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Now here's your host, Nasa Chobee.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Welcome to another edition of Hawk Talk. The Seahawks take
- 0:14Speaker 1: down the forty nine Ers thirteen to three. Bump We've
- 0:17Speaker 1: talked about it all year. We knew this was a
- 0:19Speaker 1: special team. We've honestly been speaking this into existence all
- 0:22Speaker 1: season long.
- 0:23Speaker 2: We know a special this team could be. It finally happened, Seahawks.
- 0:26Speaker 1: They win the West, they get the first round by
- 0:29Speaker 1: number one overall seed.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Man, it feels good, baby, it feels good.
- 0:33Speaker 3: Man.
- 0:33Speaker 4: You get to relax this weekend. You know, watch the competition,
- 0:36Speaker 4: see how things unfold. Man, something that hasn't been done
- 0:39Speaker 4: in a while. Man's their fourth number one seed and
- 0:41Speaker 4: five twenty thirteen, twenty fourteen number one seed. Guess what
- 0:44Speaker 4: they did that those years went to the Super Bowl.
- 0:46Speaker 4: So we're not we're not getting ahead of ourselves. But
- 0:49Speaker 4: in the driver's seat, it feels good. You take down
- 0:52Speaker 4: the Niners at their house, beat them up. It was
- 0:54Speaker 4: it was fun to watch it. I mean, it doesn't
- 0:56Speaker 4: get better than this Seahawk fan. You know, They always
- 0:58Speaker 4: say who's got it better than us?
- 1:00Speaker 1: Oh body, Seahawks this week, and it's gonna feel good
- 1:03Speaker 1: because we can talk like this bump.
- 1:04Speaker 2: We can still be in celebration mode. The people in
- 1:06Speaker 2: this locker room.
- 1:06Speaker 1: We're gonna get back to work this week and be
- 1:08Speaker 1: ready to go for whoever they played in the divisional round.
- 1:10Speaker 1: But we're gonna recap it because this team is playing
- 1:12Speaker 1: good ball. Twenty and five in the last twenty five games,
- 1:14Speaker 1: first in the NFL single season, franchise record fourteen wins,
- 1:18Speaker 1: franchise record eight road wins. Hawks have not allowed one
- 1:21Speaker 1: hundred yard rusher in twenty six executive games.
- 1:24Speaker 2: It's coming up, all Seahawks. Let's get into it.
- 1:26Speaker 1: What had happened, See what happened was what had happened
- 1:31Speaker 1: at first was what had happened was on Hawk Talk.
- 1:35Speaker 1: I'm telling you about you touched on it. It might
- 1:36Speaker 1: have been a ten point win, but I'm telling you
- 1:38Speaker 1: that was one of the most dominant performances I've seen
- 1:41Speaker 1: in a long time. Yeah and yeah, the Seahawks have
- 1:43Speaker 1: blown some people out this year, for sure, but this
- 1:45Speaker 1: felt different to physically do it to a team like
- 1:47Speaker 1: the forty nine ers, like you said, in their building,
- 1:49Speaker 1: they'd scored thirty seven, forty eight, forty two and then
- 1:53Speaker 1: there were held to three points. I know they're missing
- 1:55Speaker 1: Trent Williams. I know they're missing a couple guys. But
- 1:57Speaker 1: other than that, we're missing our left tackle. Yeah, three point.
- 2:00Speaker 1: You still have christianccaffrey. I don't care if he's banged
- 2:01Speaker 1: up or not to do that to that team. And
- 2:03Speaker 1: it's the way it happened. You caught a past, you
- 2:06Speaker 1: went down, he went backwards. It was like you got
- 2:09Speaker 1: you punched. You paid for it. Anytime you touched the rock,
- 2:12Speaker 1: you paid for it. This defense was physical.
- 2:15Speaker 4: It was like you said, they weren't falling forward. It
- 2:18Speaker 4: was stell, may you gain two yards? You just got
- 2:21Speaker 4: two You're not breaking tackles, you're not falling forward. But
- 2:23Speaker 4: the Hawks, they came out aggressive and went twelve plays
- 2:25Speaker 4: sixty six yards.
- 2:26Speaker 5: In the first drive. It was first and goal from
- 2:28Speaker 5: the one, and.
- 2:29Speaker 4: They decided to throw the football right And I liked
- 2:34Speaker 4: I liked the play call. I'm not mad at it
- 2:36Speaker 4: at all, but you just didn't execute. No, those are
- 2:38Speaker 4: some of the players where you look back and say,
- 2:39Speaker 4: this could have been an even bigger margin, but it's
- 2:42Speaker 4: all good. So they end up going forward on fourth down.
- 2:44Speaker 4: They don't get it, but I like the message that is,
- 2:47Speaker 4: sin if we come to the house and we ain't
- 2:49Speaker 4: scared right four down territory, we want to put up points.
- 2:52Speaker 5: I was okay with the decision, there no question about it.
- 2:55Speaker 1: And I think Mike McDonald said it in his radio
- 2:56Speaker 1: show this morning that he just wasn't even thinking about
- 2:59Speaker 1: saying the message. He's confident what they're doing. But that
- 3:01Speaker 1: even speaks deeper to what this team is. They all
- 3:04Speaker 1: feel that way, whether it's Kubiak McDonald, the entire team.
- 3:06Speaker 1: They're confident. They didn't get any points, but they still
- 3:08Speaker 1: took off a lot of time off the clock and
- 3:10Speaker 1: it was a physical drive. On the next drive, the
- 3:12Speaker 1: defense comes out boom three and out. Immediately three plays later,
- 3:15Speaker 1: Zach Sharbonne is in the end zone twenty seven yard
- 3:18Speaker 1: touchdown that made the score seven to zero.
- 3:20Speaker 2: We'll break that play down a little bit later.
- 3:22Speaker 1: The Hawks will force another three and out in the
- 3:23Speaker 1: following drive, and back on offensive, Hawks will put together
- 3:26Speaker 1: another drive going ten plays fifty three yards, but Jason
- 3:29Speaker 1: Myers unfortunately missed the forty seven yard field goal.
- 3:32Speaker 4: The Niners would turn the ball over on down to
- 3:33Speaker 4: the next possession after a great play by Reek. Willing
- 3:36Speaker 4: almost went to the house with that one. Almost he
- 3:37Speaker 4: was playing the ball too. I like that play because
- 3:40Speaker 4: he played ball and went through the man at the
- 3:42Speaker 4: same time. Man big up, sir Rereek, because the last
- 3:44Speaker 4: time they played the Niners, people were talking about my due,
- 3:47Speaker 4: so good for him. The Niners will also answer with
- 3:49Speaker 4: their best drive of the game. They go nine plays,
- 3:52Speaker 4: excuse me. The Hawks will answer answer with a field
- 3:54Speaker 4: goal and they go up ten zero. So then the
- 3:56Speaker 4: forty nineers would answer with their best drive of the game.
- 3:58Speaker 4: They go nine plays, thirty yards kick the field goal
- 4:00Speaker 4: of their own that made the score ten to three.
- 4:02Speaker 4: At halftime, the Seahawks were dominating everywhere except the scoreboard.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Yeah, that's one of those where we've had a number
- 4:09Speaker 1: of those half times this year where you felt like, wow,
- 4:12Speaker 1: the Seawks should be up by a lot more than that.
- 4:14Speaker 1: But this game, it's not like it was sloppy. It
- 4:16Speaker 1: was just a division physical game with everything on the line.
- 4:18Speaker 1: But again, you still felt very confident about where the
- 4:20Speaker 1: Seahawks were at third quarter was all defense, teams were
- 4:23Speaker 1: combined for three punts. The Niners punt and twice Seahawks
- 4:25Speaker 1: put in once, but on the first drive of the
- 4:27Speaker 1: fourth quarter of the Seahawks went eleven plays fifty five yards,
- 4:30Speaker 1: having to settle for another field goal that made the
- 4:32Speaker 1: score thirteen to three, and that drive was saved by
- 4:35Speaker 1: a nineteen yard game by Ken Walker on third and
- 4:37Speaker 1: seventeen bump. The Seahawks have had four Design runs in
- 4:41Speaker 1: third or fifteen or more. I think I saw this today.
- 4:43Speaker 1: I'm blanking on where I saw it, but it's all
- 4:45Speaker 1: over the internet and they've converted four times. They're the
- 4:48Speaker 1: only team in the NFL to do that. I mean, shoot,
- 4:51Speaker 1: even when it was I think it was the Rams game,
- 4:52Speaker 1: you could feel the fans start to boom before Ken
- 4:55Speaker 1: got the yardage and you sent our group chat that play.
- 4:59Speaker 2: What'd you like about it?
- 5:00Speaker 4: It one the design right, you got Cooper couple blocks down,
- 5:05Speaker 4: a Lucas wraps around, you got first, you got you
- 5:07Speaker 4: got a Lucas leading away. This is gonna get off
- 5:09Speaker 4: the way. But you look at the receivers. Man, you
- 5:11Speaker 4: have Bubbo on a body, Jay Sin on a body.
- 5:14Speaker 4: You get that first gun, you break a tackle. But
- 5:15Speaker 4: what I love most about it was the emotion after that.
- 5:18Speaker 4: You tell they want this like they are an enthusiastic team.
- 5:21Speaker 4: You gotta be enthusiastic playing this game. It really gave
- 5:24Speaker 4: me chills. That's why I clipped in a sentence to you,
- 5:26Speaker 4: I'm like I was getting hyped just watching out hype
- 5:28Speaker 4: bay where you can tell. Man, they really loved it
- 5:30Speaker 4: so that the Niners were trying to get back in
- 5:32Speaker 4: the game with their rest driver of the game. They
- 5:33Speaker 4: go seven plays sixty four yards, but brock Purty was
- 5:35Speaker 4: intercepted by Drake.
- 5:36Speaker 5: Thomas on the three yard line.
- 5:38Speaker 4: It was tipped at the lon of scamers by boy
- 5:40Speaker 4: A then win to Christran mccafferre. He couldn't handle it
- 5:42Speaker 4: and Drake got a late Christmas gift.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Oh love it.
- 5:45Speaker 1: I mean again, they were they were gonna make it
- 5:47Speaker 1: a one score game and they're right there.
- 5:49Speaker 2: But you just love to play.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Boy mafusung here on that moment and Drake Thomas, I
- 5:53Speaker 1: don't think he even saw the football until it was
- 5:54Speaker 1: essentially in his hands.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Yeah, so great play.
- 5:56Speaker 1: If you're at the right spot, if you're five yards
- 5:58Speaker 1: behind him, you don't get there so good play on him.
- 6:00Speaker 1: And then the Hawks would march eighty nine yards on
- 6:03Speaker 1: six plays, eating up eight minutes off the clock sixteen plays,
- 6:07Speaker 1: but Jason Myers would miss another field goal, keeping a
- 6:10Speaker 1: ten point deficit. But you just felt like the game
- 6:12Speaker 1: was over at that point. The Seahawks essentially ate up
- 6:14Speaker 1: the entire fourth quarter. You know, you talk about four
- 6:17Speaker 1: minute drives when you run out the clock and hopefully
- 6:19Speaker 1: win the game. That was almost a ten minute run
- 6:21Speaker 1: out the clock drive. So even though they didn't score
- 6:24Speaker 1: in the red zone and Myers missed that field goal,
- 6:26Speaker 1: it was still great to see and you felt like
- 6:27Speaker 1: the game was over at that point.
- 6:28Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 6:29Speaker 4: I love that the defense went out there and wrapped
- 6:31Speaker 4: it up too. The last play of the game in
- 6:34Speaker 4: the fourth down, they go, man up, We're no stunts,
- 6:37Speaker 4: know nothing.
- 6:38Speaker 5: We're gonna man you up. Our front four is gonna
- 6:40Speaker 5: get after you and we're gonna lock this thing out.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Man.
- 6:42Speaker 5: It was a funnal watch. So the Hawks out in
- 6:43Speaker 5: the game.
- 6:43Speaker 4: The Niners three out of sixty one yards to one
- 6:45Speaker 4: seventy three out rushed them one eighty to fifty three
- 6:48Speaker 4: yards NASA Trophy. The Hawks won a time of possession
- 6:51Speaker 4: thirty seven minutes of twenty two. The Hawks had twenty
- 6:54Speaker 4: three first downs. The Niners had nine first downs. This
- 6:57Speaker 4: was a beat down, I mean, one fifty three.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Yeah, we've heard about the Seahawks running game all year long,
- 7:03Speaker 1: and it's time to give some respect because they look
- 7:04Speaker 1: very different last couple weeks against that team. The Seahawks
- 7:07Speaker 1: finish with the best tip point differential in the NFL,
- 7:10Speaker 1: plus one ninety one per context. In twenty thirteen, the
- 7:14Speaker 1: Seahawks for plus one to eighty six. Pretty Much every
- 7:16Speaker 1: year they've gone to the Super Bowl, they've had a
- 7:17Speaker 1: point differential in that zone. The Seahawks finish the regular
- 7:20Speaker 1: season having allowed the fewest points in the NFL two
- 7:23Speaker 1: ninety two, finishing the year allowing sixteen point four points
- 7:26Speaker 1: per game. That is the first time they've led the
- 7:28Speaker 1: league in that category. They did that back in twenty fifteen.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Actually fourth raight year twenty twelve to twenty fifteen.
- 7:33Speaker 2: So it's great.
- 7:35Speaker 1: I mean, honestly, while we're just talking about what has
- 7:38Speaker 1: happened through seventeen games, this team has shown it weekend
- 7:41Speaker 1: and week out. They are very much playing at a
- 7:43Speaker 1: high level. Bump after this whole season and specifically last
- 7:46Speaker 1: Saturday night.
- 7:47Speaker 2: What'd you learn one.
- 7:48Speaker 4: They're playing their best football at the right time. We
- 7:49Speaker 4: always hear that, right want to be playing your best
- 7:51Speaker 4: football at the end of the year. I learned that
- 7:53Speaker 4: they have figured out the formula two win ball games.
- 7:55Speaker 4: If Sam doesn't turn the ball over, if the run
- 7:58Speaker 4: game gets going, and this defense plays like the way
- 8:00Speaker 4: they've been playing, I see them winning the Super Bowl.
- 8:02Speaker 4: This is how you win football games. I also learn
- 8:05Speaker 4: that this defense is playing at a whole different level
- 8:08Speaker 4: right now.
- 8:08Speaker 5: No one's touching this defense right now.
- 8:10Speaker 1: The fact what they can do, We're gonna get into
- 8:12Speaker 1: it and just a little bit so I don't spoil it.
- 8:14Speaker 1: But with their nickel defense that's essentially base. Yeah, what
- 8:18Speaker 1: they can do makes them scary. If you're an offensive coordinator,
- 8:21Speaker 1: you're looking at like, do they have eleven guys on
- 8:23Speaker 1: the field?
- 8:24Speaker 2: Not penalty? It's like the Kevin Harty be like, wait
- 8:26Speaker 2: are they are they jumping me?
- 8:28Speaker 5: Hit me?
- 8:29Speaker 1: That's what it feels like to play this Seahawks defense.
- 8:32Speaker 1: There's people making plays all over the fields, getting the playmakers.
- 8:40Speaker 5: Playmakers to them. What time?
- 8:44Speaker 1: Oh wait? Starting off with Ken Walker K nine sixteen
- 8:49Speaker 1: carries ninety seven yards average six point one yards carry,
- 8:53Speaker 1: four receptions thirty six yards as well. K nine finished
- 8:57Speaker 1: the season was one twenty seven yards, a second one
- 9:00Speaker 1: thousand yard season of his career.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Big ups there.
- 9:03Speaker 1: He also passed Chris Carson for eighth place on Seattle's
- 9:06Speaker 1: all time rushing list. And you mentioned it, Ken Walker.
- 9:09Speaker 1: He's playing at a high level man, and he's doing
- 9:11Speaker 1: it without a high volume of carries. Right what we've
- 9:13Speaker 1: seen from him in the last month, he's not getting
- 9:15Speaker 1: twenty seven carries verst f one hundred yards. He's doing
- 9:18Speaker 1: it every time under twenty carries. He's being explosive. The
- 9:21Speaker 1: screen games are starting to work. So I'm loving what
- 9:23Speaker 1: we're seeing for this running game.
- 9:24Speaker 4: Yeah, his Pardner Man partner crimes, Zach Strabenny. It feels
- 9:26Speaker 4: like they settled into their roles in who they are,
- 9:29Speaker 4: you know what I mean. Sharbonny has seventeen carries for
- 9:31Speaker 4: seventy four yards in one touchdown. But the Fady nine ers,
- 9:33Speaker 4: they're ready for Starbeny to lower the shoulder and run
- 9:36Speaker 4: all over people.
- 9:37Speaker 5: But on Sunday Zach was putting on the movie.
- 9:40Speaker 4: He I don't know a little jitibug will so man,
- 9:44Speaker 4: it's fun to see and it feels like you can
- 9:46Speaker 4: see that Kubiak is settled into who they are and
- 9:48Speaker 4: it feels like they've accepted their role on this team.
- 9:52Speaker 5: So yeah, running game is popping right now. Love it.
- 9:54Speaker 1: When the running game's popping, that's definitely good for this team.
- 9:56Speaker 1: That's what they talked about all off season long. And
- 9:58Speaker 1: then Jackson Smith a jigba miss consistency, six receptions, eighty
- 10:02Speaker 1: four yards. Jayson finished of the season leaving the National
- 10:05Speaker 1: Football League in yards one thousand, seven hundred and ninety three,
- 10:08Speaker 1: tied for the league leading, receptions with one hundred and
- 10:10Speaker 1: nineteen both Seahawk records tied for fifth in the NFL,
- 10:13Speaker 1: and touchdowns with ten tied for the league lead, and
- 10:16Speaker 1: explosive plays bomb he has twenty seven plays of twenty
- 10:19Speaker 1: yards or more, best season for Seahawks receiver in the
- 10:22Speaker 1: history of the franchise. As we celebrate the fiftieth season,
- 10:26Speaker 1: I say something when Steve Largent suit it up in
- 10:29Speaker 1: this in this uniform, JAYSN. I love what we're seeing
- 10:32Speaker 1: from him and this is just the beginning.
- 10:33Speaker 5: Just getting started.
- 10:34Speaker 4: A quiet eighty four too, still have some big catches
- 10:37Speaker 4: Quiet eighty four. Sam Donald twenty of twenty six, one
- 10:39Speaker 4: to ninety eight, zero touchdowns, zero interceptions. He took care
- 10:43Speaker 4: of the football, he made some big throws. He hit
- 10:45Speaker 4: Cooper couple couple of times on third down. You got
- 10:47Speaker 4: Jaysn as well. He performed great in a big time game.
- 10:51Speaker 4: Is give him the credit that he deserves at this point. Yes,
- 10:54Speaker 4: we still got more work to do, and I'm sure
- 10:56Speaker 4: that's what they're saying downstairs. But Sam Donald has gained
- 10:59Speaker 4: even more of my trust.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Well, and he's obviously had it with the guys in
- 11:03Speaker 1: this room, this building. Anyone who's really put on this
- 11:06Speaker 1: tape and watched it, I know on the first take
- 11:08Speaker 1: this morning, and believe Stephen A. Smith and got still
- 11:11Speaker 1: I don't have any fit.
- 11:12Speaker 2: I mean love it.
- 11:13Speaker 1: That's great, that's what you want to see, and it's
- 11:14Speaker 1: totally fine. I think Sam Donald's totally fine with it
- 11:16Speaker 1: because he's not worried about any of the outside noise
- 11:18Speaker 1: outside of this building's level routine From number fourteen, number
- 11:22Speaker 1: one in Our Hearts, Ben Derek Hall loved to see
- 11:24Speaker 1: him back on the field one sack when TfL three
- 11:27Speaker 1: quarterback hits. He plays the game with some fire. It
- 11:30Speaker 1: was not cool. I was on a fan of the suspension.
- 11:32Speaker 1: It was what it was. But he was back playing
- 11:34Speaker 1: his thing. And Derek Hall's doing a good thing, just
- 11:37Speaker 1: playing well.
- 11:37Speaker 5: D Hall playing with that passion too.
- 11:39Speaker 3: Man.
- 11:40Speaker 4: The sound crew missed some things, so we got to
- 11:42Speaker 4: hear a lot during the game and I heard d
- 11:45Speaker 4: Hall talking that talk. Next up, Drake Thomas Man five tackles,
- 11:49Speaker 4: first interception of his career, two passes defended. This is
- 11:51Speaker 4: a guy who wasn't even a start at the beginning
- 11:53Speaker 4: of the season and now he's a staple and they're
- 11:56Speaker 4: trying to get a match up on him. When him
- 11:58Speaker 4: and McCaffrey, and he took that inside leverage because look,
- 12:01Speaker 4: I'm not going to get beat on this angle out.
- 12:03Speaker 5: Took the inside leverage.
- 12:04Speaker 4: Obviously, Christian mccafey runs out and he wasn't gonna score
- 12:08Speaker 4: a touch on it. If McCaffey caught that football, Drake,
- 12:11Speaker 4: that is going to work. Love what he's been doing
- 12:13Speaker 4: this year. Obviously it had liked that interception as well.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Yeah, no question about it.
- 12:17Speaker 1: He showed up in Seattle's the special teams guy from
- 12:19Speaker 1: the Raiders don't really knew anything about him. He got
- 12:21Speaker 1: hurt against the Ravens, I want to say in his
- 12:23Speaker 1: first year, then was on the shelf mainly special teams guy,
- 12:26Speaker 1: and now he's a dominant starter on the best defensive
- 12:28Speaker 1: football so level or seen from Drake Jared Reid, the
- 12:31Speaker 1: og been doing it for a long time. Two tackles,
- 12:34Speaker 1: one sack, one TfL, two quarterback hits. He's really doing
- 12:37Speaker 1: his thing. And then we'll both talk about this one
- 12:39Speaker 1: Nicki Man Warrey bum seven tackles, leven team one TfL,
- 12:43Speaker 1: one QB hit. This dude listing up everyone for the
- 12:46Speaker 1: people in the back YEP, should be defensive Rookie of
- 12:48Speaker 1: the Year, definitely. I know the guy down there in
- 12:52Speaker 1: Cleveland was doing his thing linebacker, but what we're seeing
- 12:54Speaker 1: for Nick even Worriy is different. Eighty four tackles, eight
- 12:57Speaker 1: tackles for lost, two and a half sacks, evan passes,
- 13:00Speaker 1: defended one interception, only player in the NFL at least
- 13:03Speaker 1: two and a half sacks, and double digit pass breakups
- 13:06Speaker 1: thanks John Boyle, and one of only two double digit
- 13:08Speaker 1: pass breakups and eight tackles for loss. And again, he
- 13:11Speaker 1: did all that despite missing four entire games, only played
- 13:14Speaker 1: a couple of snaps in Week one and Bump, you've
- 13:16Speaker 1: been on this for a very long time. I believe
- 13:18Speaker 1: he said he was the most versatile player in the
- 13:20Speaker 1: National Football League.
- 13:21Speaker 4: Yeah, he can play at all three levels. We've seen
- 13:24Speaker 4: him walk down as a d n if you want
- 13:25Speaker 4: to call him that. We see him at the second
- 13:27Speaker 4: level as a linebacker. We see him in a slot
- 13:29Speaker 4: as a nickel. We sent him over top as a safety.
- 13:31Speaker 4: Whatever you want to do, this young man could do.
- 13:34Speaker 4: Man the most versatile player in the NFL, and thankfully
- 13:38Speaker 4: he's playing with a coach he knows exactly what to
- 13:39Speaker 4: do with him.
- 13:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean they want to Going back to draft night,
- 13:43Speaker 1: we talked to some pregame show a while back how
- 13:45Speaker 1: excited this organization was that Emon Warri was there and
- 13:48Speaker 1: fell to them at the beginning of the second round
- 13:50Speaker 1: because he paying dividends and it'll be interesting se where
- 13:53Speaker 1: his career goes, because he could be remembered as one
- 13:55Speaker 1: of the best if he continues to stay healthy. And
- 13:58Speaker 1: then Bump. Lastly, the defense as a whole man hold
- 14:00Speaker 1: the forty nine ers with three points coming in the game,
- 14:01Speaker 1: having thirty seven forty and forty two crazy stuff.
- 14:04Speaker 5: Two for nine on third downs.
- 14:06Speaker 4: This was the best team on third downs in the
- 14:08Speaker 4: NFL until this Sunday. So there were two for nine
- 14:11Speaker 4: on thirds, zero for two and fourth downs, one hundred
- 14:13Speaker 4: and seventy three total yards. Hel McCaffrey to fifty seven
- 14:17Speaker 4: total yards on fourteen touches his fuse of the year.
- 14:19Speaker 4: He was averaging one hundred and sixteen yards of scrambergs
- 14:22Speaker 4: I on some historic stuff like four all time and
- 14:24Speaker 4: you kept him in check.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Yeah, anytime you do that with a guy like that
- 14:27Speaker 1: in George Kittle five perception of twenty nine yards, I'm
- 14:30Speaker 1: kno gonna.
- 14:31Speaker 2: I'll save you guys the time.
- 14:32Speaker 1: But if you go back and look through the box
- 14:33Speaker 1: score of the last eight games against the Seahawks, George Kittle,
- 14:36Speaker 1: Christian McCaffrey went off. Yeah, and so just for the
- 14:40Speaker 1: Seahous to do what they did to them, crazy dark
- 14:42Speaker 1: side defense.
- 14:43Speaker 2: It's a name.
- 14:44Speaker 1: We know they're coming to play bumbo. Do you see
- 14:46Speaker 1: from the offensive guys wide receivers.
- 14:48Speaker 4: Hi wide else Man json at six for eighty four.
- 14:51Speaker 4: K nine had four catches for thirty six. Cooper Cup
- 14:53Speaker 4: had two big catches for twenty nine. Sharvine have three
- 14:56Speaker 4: catches for twenty three. AJ had two for fourteen, Solbert
- 14:59Speaker 4: had two for ten. Rashid had one for two, spreading
- 15:02Speaker 4: the love round absolutely.
- 15:04Speaker 1: Now, there's a lot of different plays we could have
- 15:07Speaker 1: gone to for the plays of the game. This one
- 15:08Speaker 1: was a tough choice, but we'll start on offense. Zach
- 15:11Speaker 1: Charbonney finds the end zone on twenty seven yard touchdown.
- 15:13Speaker 2: Run Charbone in the backfield on third down and two.
- 15:17Speaker 6: Darnold under center, long count, turns hands to Sharks, find
- 15:20Speaker 6: some running room.
- 15:21Speaker 5: Bounces it outside left.
- 15:22Speaker 3: Here he comes twenty fifteen, cuts back in side ten
- 15:25Speaker 3: fick touchdown Seahawks. Zack Charbona from twenty seven out his
- 15:33Speaker 3: twelfth rushing touchdown of the season, and now he's climbing
- 15:38Speaker 3: the ranks along with somebody named beast Mode for double
- 15:42Speaker 3: digit rushing touchdowns in the season. Blocked perfectly and Sharps
- 15:47Speaker 3: bounces it left for the six.
- 15:50Speaker 4: This is just a zone right which I call I'll
- 15:52Speaker 4: call his zone right solid in my offense because typically
- 15:55Speaker 4: when you run the zone, you leave the back end unblocked,
- 15:58Speaker 4: so you can try to option him a little bit.
- 16:00Speaker 4: Set you keep that back in blocked with AJ Barner.
- 16:02Speaker 4: The box is filled. Eight nine guys in the box.
- 16:04Speaker 4: Right now, you got, like I said, Aj connect to
- 16:07Speaker 4: the line of scrimmage. To the left, you have Cooper
- 16:09Speaker 4: Cup who motions over. He's to the right side. So
- 16:11Speaker 4: everyone is down blocking except AJ Barner. He's solid on
- 16:14Speaker 4: the back side. We're gonna work left from right. You
- 16:16Speaker 4: got Josh Jones, boom washes his guy. Right, you have
- 16:19Speaker 4: a Zabel Boom washes his guy, and you have the
- 16:21Speaker 4: double team with Sundale and Bradford. Bradford does a good
- 16:23Speaker 4: job getting on the double team, coming off and taking
- 16:26Speaker 4: care of that backer who's trying to get up in
- 16:28Speaker 4: the gap right there. And then you have one on
- 16:30Speaker 4: one with Abe Lucas on the right side Cooper Cup
- 16:32Speaker 4: taking care of his guy. This is about Zach Starbaday
- 16:34Speaker 4: in his field of the zone. His job is suppressed
- 16:37Speaker 4: the B gap right. I think he gets the football
- 16:39Speaker 4: and sees that backer trying to get up in that gap.
- 16:41Speaker 5: Anthony Brafford takes care of him. So now you're looking
- 16:43Speaker 5: for cutback.
- 16:44Speaker 4: Boom, you get the cutback, and because Josh Jones did
- 16:46Speaker 4: his job and wash this guy down there, his guy
- 16:49Speaker 4: is no longer a factor. Then aj solid block on
- 16:51Speaker 4: the solid on the back side. Now it's just who's faster. Now,
- 16:54Speaker 4: you got Zach s Charbaday to the races and he
- 16:56Speaker 4: gives them a little heasy all right. That dB wants
- 16:58Speaker 4: no part of that shoulders Zach Sharbonay wo lower into
- 17:01Speaker 4: his chest so that has he slows him down. The
- 17:03Speaker 4: dB tries to get his hands on him. It's why
- 17:05Speaker 4: do power cleans and leg press and all that good stuff.
- 17:07Speaker 4: Run through the tackle, touchdown Charbone setting the tone.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean when you drop a run play like this,
- 17:13Speaker 1: this what you see? You want to score on every play.
- 17:15Speaker 1: It looks great across the board. You mentioned every single
- 17:18Speaker 1: offensive lineman doing their job. Zabel, what I love there.
- 17:21Speaker 1: He gets a great initial block, his guy comes off it,
- 17:23Speaker 1: but he got just enough of him to not allow
- 17:25Speaker 1: his man to make the play a J barner you
- 17:27Speaker 1: mentioned it. Great play, But defensively for the forty nine ers,
- 17:31Speaker 1: their safety tans a good angle. They call the little
- 17:33Speaker 1: banana route. Your one high look, you're inside out. He
- 17:35Speaker 1: has the angle on Sharbonne. He should make this play.
- 17:38Speaker 1: And I'm sure that's what they're saying in the film
- 17:39Speaker 1: room there, but you mentioned it. Zach Charbonne is known
- 17:42Speaker 1: for lowing his shoulder and running people over. And if
- 17:44Speaker 1: I'm the safety, I don't want to get run over
- 17:46Speaker 1: for touchdown either. So you're thinking that, so your braceive
- 17:49Speaker 1: impact a little heasy, he doesn't make the play. Zach
- 17:51Speaker 1: Charbonne in the end zone for a touchdown. But I'm
- 17:53Speaker 1: telling you that was in the back of his mind
- 17:55Speaker 1: because he had the angle. He should have made that play,
- 17:57Speaker 1: and that little heasy did just enough to freeze him. There,
- 17:59Speaker 1: Zach sh in the end zone, touchdown. Seahawks. Our next
- 18:04Speaker 1: play we're gonna look at this was a big play.
- 18:05Speaker 1: On fourth down. The Seahawks get us op big pass
- 18:08Speaker 1: breakup by Treek.
- 18:09Speaker 6: One still fourth down and one, and so McCaffrey lines
- 18:14Speaker 6: up behind Perdy who goes under center play fake Purty
- 18:20Speaker 6: looks Party steps up.
- 18:22Speaker 2: He throws to the near side.
- 18:23Speaker 3: It's almost intercepted as the rush finally got there. It's
- 18:27Speaker 3: Jay Reed who gets to Party, forces the bad throw
- 18:30Speaker 3: and almost picked by Wooling on the near side of
- 18:33Speaker 3: the Seahawks takeover on fourth down and one, nine thirty
- 18:36Speaker 3: five to play in the quarter. The Seahawks turn around
- 18:39Speaker 3: and get the ball back. They lead seven to nothing.
- 18:42Speaker 4: This is that good old thirteen personnel that we knew
- 18:44Speaker 4: we're gonna see with the forty nine ers. They want
- 18:46Speaker 4: to pack you in and run the football, at least
- 18:48Speaker 4: make it look like it's a run. When we look
- 18:50Speaker 4: at the sideline view, I ain't gonna lie. They got
- 18:53Speaker 4: Jaylevi in a compromise position. It's essentially a two to
- 18:56Speaker 4: on one, so you gotta get pressure right here, and
- 18:58Speaker 4: that's exactly what happens. The and who makes all this
- 19:01Speaker 4: happen is the veteran that we got from Dallas. If
- 19:04Speaker 4: you just watch this guy swim past the tight end,
- 19:08Speaker 4: blow through the cut block, and get to the quarterback,
- 19:11Speaker 4: he forces Rock Party to have to move. And also
- 19:13Speaker 4: you got Jay Reed, who's getting after the quarterback. You
- 19:16Speaker 4: got who's on the him ou Chenda who's getting after
- 19:18Speaker 4: the quarterback. You got is at Mafe Mafy getting after
- 19:20Speaker 4: the quarterback. It's just chaos in the box. I don't
- 19:23Speaker 4: know how to describe this, but just chaos on the box.
- 19:25Speaker 4: Because if Party has time, he's got a two on
- 19:27Speaker 4: one with Jay Love, the guy George Kittle with the
- 19:31Speaker 4: out and he gets your receiving the outside with the go.
- 19:33Speaker 4: Jay Love has to pick, but because there's chaos in
- 19:36Speaker 4: the box, he has to throw the check down and
- 19:38Speaker 4: redo it exactly what he's supposed to do. Stay in
- 19:40Speaker 4: the flat, breaks to the football, try to intercept him,
- 19:42Speaker 4: and runs through the man.
- 19:44Speaker 1: I love the intensity on this play. Yeah, I mean
- 19:46Speaker 1: this is great. First of all, the pressure which makes
- 19:48Speaker 1: this play. Who's a couple good things in the secondary
- 19:50Speaker 1: as well. Jay Love looks like he's in essentially a
- 19:52Speaker 1: deep half zone there. He's got Kiddo and he's got
- 19:54Speaker 1: sky Moore to him. He's kind of vertical veer and
- 19:56Speaker 1: both kind of s putting the difference. But he's looking
- 19:58Speaker 1: at Party. If I'm looking Sky Moore and George Kittle,
- 20:01Speaker 1: I'm probably throwing the ball at George Kittle.
- 20:03Speaker 2: Love does a great job.
- 20:03Speaker 1: He takes away the first initial read from Party, and
- 20:06Speaker 1: when that goes away, the pressures are ready in Party's
- 20:08Speaker 1: face right there. There's no way he's gonna be able
- 20:10Speaker 1: to see Sky more far on the outside. And I
- 20:13Speaker 1: think Jay Love took a little gamble there and it
- 20:14Speaker 1: paid off, right, And because you mentioned it, the great
- 20:17Speaker 1: pressure to Marcus Lawrence. Everyone that's a party in the backfield,
- 20:20Speaker 1: Jay Reid, they make party have to check it down.
- 20:23Speaker 1: And then Rieke does a great job too. Because Reeke
- 20:26Speaker 1: has the flat on this play, he's looking to get
- 20:28Speaker 1: some depth. He's looking into the quarterback's eyes, looking at Kittle.
- 20:31Speaker 1: He sinks a little bit, but the second he sees
- 20:34Speaker 1: Party commit when Reek ruling, honestly, he might be the
- 20:37Speaker 1: fastest in the NFL between It's honestly might be between
- 20:40Speaker 1: him and Spoon on this team. When they decide to
- 20:43Speaker 1: go and they pull that trigger, he is gone. I mean,
- 20:45Speaker 1: you watch the change of direction. He's downhill. We all
- 20:48Speaker 1: jumped up. We thought this was going the other way.
- 20:50Speaker 1: But I love what Riek is doing there. It's a
- 20:52Speaker 1: big time playing fourth down all eleven on the defense,
- 20:55Speaker 1: playing as one. Twelve is one Mike MacDonald likes to say,
- 20:58Speaker 1: and you talked about Arico one has gotten some heat
- 21:00Speaker 1: this year and he's been nothing but great this whole
- 21:03Speaker 1: second half the season, playing within his game. And this
- 21:06Speaker 1: is what I'm talking about. This defense is suffocating, relentless,
- 21:08Speaker 1: shocking through not around. The Seahawks defense getting it done
- 21:12Speaker 1: bumpy level. We're seeing that sets us up for the
- 21:15Speaker 1: favorite formation of all time, victory formation.
- 21:19Speaker 3: Here comes the Seahawks offense on to the field and
- 21:22Speaker 3: the Vikings defense trudging out there knowing that one kneel
- 21:27Speaker 3: down and the Seahawks are gonna line the clock down
- 21:30Speaker 3: and win this one.
- 21:31Speaker 2: It's the victory formation on Hawk.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Talk, earned at every opportunity from phase one of the offseason,
- 21:38Speaker 1: OTA's training camp throughout the season. I just said it, relentless, decisive,
- 21:42Speaker 1: shocking through not a round. This team embodies coach McDonald
- 21:46Speaker 1: They're all as one and this is what the Seahawks
- 21:49Speaker 1: fans everyone was hoping for when coach McDonald's hired this
- 21:52Speaker 1: with John Schneider, and everybody wanted was for games like
- 21:54Speaker 1: that to show up in that moment, to not have
- 21:56Speaker 1: Christian McCaffrey running down the sideline for seventy five yards,
- 21:59Speaker 1: to not have all these people throwing for all these
- 22:01Speaker 1: kind of yards. This football team is together. They're playing
- 22:04Speaker 1: like it three phases of the game. I love what
- 22:06Speaker 1: we've seen from them.
- 22:07Speaker 4: Yeah, man, we've been doing this for a while, you
- 22:09Speaker 4: longer than me. How do you feel about this team?
- 22:13Speaker 1: This is my tenth season with the team. Before this,
- 22:16Speaker 1: I worked with the Mariners, but I worked at Seattle Sports,
- 22:18Speaker 1: so I was around the team when they won the
- 22:20Speaker 1: Super Bowl. But this is the best team since then,
- 22:22Speaker 1: and it's not close. All three phases of the game,
- 22:25Speaker 1: how connected they are. It's not made up stuff. And
- 22:27Speaker 1: that's why I was never worried about a letdown on
- 22:29Speaker 1: this team. From the coaching staff to the guys in
- 22:31Speaker 1: this locker room, there's never been a oh, we're looking
- 22:33Speaker 1: past No, the next game. This is carry over from me, Carol.
- 22:36Speaker 1: The next game is the biggest game. They played like it.
- 22:39Speaker 1: They're just special because they have so many different ways.
- 22:41Speaker 2: They can win.
- 22:41Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 22:42Speaker 4: Well, I've been doing the nine years and I will
- 22:43Speaker 4: second that the best team that I've covered for show.
- 22:46Speaker 4: The Hawks had to wait seventeen weeks to get revenge
- 22:48Speaker 4: on the nine is, but they did exactly that and
- 22:50Speaker 4: did the best way.
- 22:50Speaker 3: Right.
- 22:51Speaker 4: You win the NFC West, you clinch the number one seed,
- 22:53Speaker 4: you got a first round by the game is going
- 22:55Speaker 4: to be out the house. It don't get much better
- 22:57Speaker 4: than that. Man who's got a better than us?
- 23:00Speaker 2: Nobody.
- 23:01Speaker 1: Let's go listen and the Seahawks could face the forty
- 23:04Speaker 1: nine ers again and we'd be ready for that matchup
- 23:07Speaker 1: as well. The cool thing though, Seahawks fans, you get
- 23:09Speaker 1: to put your feet up, you get to watch some
- 23:10Speaker 1: great football this weekend, Saturday, Sunday, Monday night as well.
- 23:14Speaker 1: It's gonna be fun and the Seahawks can be ready
- 23:17Speaker 1: for whoever is coming to Lumenfield. Whether that's the Rams,
- 23:20Speaker 1: whether that's the forty nine Ers, whether it's the Packers,
- 23:22Speaker 1: we don't know, but we'll be ready for it. We'll
- 23:26Speaker 1: watch football just like you guys are. This weekend, we'll
- 23:28Speaker 1: see you the Seahaws are playing, and we'll be ready
- 23:30Speaker 1: for that divisional matchup the following weekend. He's Michael bumbas
- 23:33Speaker 1: some Nasachoby the division champion Seattle Seahawks beat the forty
- 23:37Speaker 1: nine Ers.
- 23:37Speaker 2: This has been Hawk Talk.
