- 0:26I'm Adam from Arcaves from Northern Ireland and our album No Blessing Ignorance is out
- 0:34on June seventh, which is this Friday. That it is, my friend.
- 0:38Thanks for joining us today, Adam, thank you rabbling me no wise.
- 0:42As you mentioned, Archives are set to release a new album, No
- 0:45Blessing Ignorance on June the seventh. So how are you feeling about it?
- 0:50Pretty excited? Feels like it's been a long time common in all honesty,
- 0:54because we've been kada mousing the boat back and forward and taking our time with
- 0:57us one because we kind of rushed the last album a bit. I think
- 1:00we just couldn't wait to get it out, you know who kind of took
- 1:03your time, heard a bit more and stuff and tried things out. So
- 1:07excited to get it out there now finally. Yeah, I tell us a
- 1:11bit about the album from a musical point of view, and what are you
- 1:12going for with it musical point of view? Yeah, Well, our guitarist
- 1:19Jerk wrote most of the stuff, and I think what we were trying to
- 1:23do was throwing a few different elements this time compared to like the last album.
- 1:29I think it was. It was good, but it was all kind
- 1:32of it kind of had a similar thing going on to it, whereas I
- 1:34feel like on this album is more there's a couple of songs that are a
- 1:38bit different from the last one and things like that, you know, and
- 1:40I guess we were just trying to have a bit of fun with it really,
- 1:42you know. Yeah, you've released the singles Make That Mistake, Nice
- 1:47Sweat, Self Inflicted, and Matriarchs, So overall they good sonic representation of
- 1:52the album or is there a bit more there offer? I would I would
- 1:56say they're a pretty good representation. I would say the single we have coming
- 2:02out on Thursday, shark Pit, I think it kind of would tie them
- 2:07all in together, and then you know fully what the album's like, you
- 2:10know, because it has a few more kind of chaotic sections and it.
- 2:14But yeah, overall, yeah, well, once the album comes out,
- 2:17people will be able to get a hold of it on the on those streaming
- 2:21platforms and stuff. So pick three songs off the album for someone who's never
- 2:24heard of Archives before, three songs to listen to to give them the best
- 2:28introduction, right, Oh, I would say probably start Self Inflected, then
- 2:38maybe Make No Mistake on Matriarch, I would say it's it's hard to pack
- 2:46the to be honest, so you sort of touched on a few little changes,
- 2:52may be can we go a bit deeper on this one, like how
- 2:54do how does how does No Bliss and Ignorance differ musically to your debut album
- 2:59Decay Well, To be honest, I think we just thought about it a
- 3:04bit more. Like there was there was times in the studio with the first
- 3:08album where we just kind of just put stuff Darron and went right, that
- 3:10I'll do onto the next thing, Whereas I feel like this time, we
- 3:14kind of like we had hard whole songs finished and then we kind of you
- 3:19know, took it back and thought about it for a week or so and
- 3:21then went back to the studio and went right, we'll take this out move
- 3:23that kind of we just messed about it, about with it a bit more
- 3:28and kind of, I don't know, just tried to do stuff that was
- 3:31a wee bit more out of our comfort zone. Yeah, And it's like
- 3:36pushing the boundaries a wee bit more with certain things, like but I'm pretty
- 3:39happy with her it's turned out. To be honest, it would be as
- 3:43you should be making He's a fucking cracker of an album, right pracer of
- 3:46an album. Now, I noticed there's no song on their cord, No
- 3:50Bliss and Ignorance, so it means the title must have a little bit more
- 3:53significance. Yeah. Yeah, Well, I think I came up with the
- 3:59idea for the ALB before I think we'd even I think we maybe written one
- 4:01song or something like that. But the idea behind No Blessed and Ignorance is
- 4:08obviously the expression ignorance is blessed, But I wanted to write a load of
- 4:14different topics of things where if you're ignorant to it only damage you in the
- 4:18long run. Yeah, Like, for example, there's stuff on there about
- 4:27like where we're from. There's like there's like a time where we're from where
- 4:30there's a lot of like drug problems and stuff, and you can't really,
- 4:34in my opinion, you can't really ignore it because it is destroying lives and
- 4:38things like that. And there's other things on there that's like a bit more
- 4:43world topic and kind of stuff like that. So kind of situation where if
- 4:47you know only to be harm right, you guys are described as a medical
- 4:51band. You know, your press releases night but the listener of the album
- 4:56that there's so much more going on, like you draw from a much deeper
- 4:58job ful music. There's elements of hardcore in there. There's I've got to
- 5:02say, hardcore is probably a lot better representation on this album anyway, Like
- 5:06you guys don't fuck around? Yeah, thank you very much. Man.
- 5:12Yeah. Well, it's kind of like I feel like metal core in a
- 5:15way now is it's kind of a very blanket, blanket statement where it's like
- 5:19it's very like I would say, arguably, yes, we are a metal
- 5:24core bomb, but me personally, like I do listen to a lot of
- 5:27hardcore and stuff like that, and I sort of agrew up listening to that
- 5:30and a lot of the other guys like Sure, for example, he's listened
- 5:33to all sorts of stuff, Like his influences aren't just straight metal core either,
- 5:39you know. But I guess it is a broad term now more than
- 5:44other genres are. I think, you know, it's just an easy leabel,
- 5:47you know, isn't it. I've got to say, right, Like,
- 5:50to listen to the album, like you're you're angry as fuck on that
- 5:53album, but to talk to you in person, you're not such a bad
- 5:56break like I was expecting this big ogre coming out with dripping fucking ship.
- 6:01Yeah, I've actually got that before. I've played I've played gigs before,
- 6:05and then I've come off seage and been selling T shirts and stuff, and
- 6:09everyone's like, you're still like nas and quiet. It's like, yeah,
- 6:12because I've got it all on stage. I'm too exhausted from what I did
- 6:15on stage. I can't even talk. And I think one of the best
- 6:20things I loved about the album BRO is like there was no ballot on there.
- 6:25Like every band these days seems to feel they have to put a ballot
- 6:28on there somewhere, but personally I them, you know, but like you
- 6:31guys just it was balls to the wall from starting to finishes. It's refreshing.
- 6:36Yeah. I think that's what we wanted, you know, we kind
- 6:40of wanted it to not really have any doll points, you know. I
- 6:42think we're really we're kind of like hyperactive and trying to make it that way,
- 6:48really worried about it, and then when we actually got the whole thing
- 6:51back and listened through the all thing, We're like, Okay, it's pretty
- 6:54balls the wall the whole time, which is what we want. You know
- 6:58you've done well with that. Wait a sudden, I'm here at Rye.
- 7:00We don't know too much about Northern Ireland and a new music saying over there.
- 7:03Br So you formed in twenty twenty in Northern Ireland, but what was
- 7:08the musical clubate like over there? Like, now, where did you fit
- 7:11in? Like? Is there many bands doing your sort of thing over there?
- 7:14It's interesting actually because like we sort of formed during sort of all the
- 7:17lockdowns and all that stuff. Beforehand, there was there was there's always been
- 7:23a scene, right, But I feel like beforehand there was always a lot
- 7:27of bands, but not many people going out to the shows. It was
- 7:30maybe like one band would go out and see the other band and stuff,
- 7:32and it was always cool. It was a tight, tight neck community.
- 7:35But now I think post COVID it must have something to do with the fact
- 7:40that there's been you weren't able to go to gigs for so long, right,
- 7:43I feel like there's more people that are going out and attending all the
- 7:46local stuff that maybe aren't even any band, they don't play instruments and stuff
- 7:49like that, And I just feel like there's a better scene here now then
- 7:55I remember there being anyway, you know. So it's it's pretty good.
- 7:58It's I mean, there's not much else to do in Ireland apart from drink
- 8:01beer and playing music, so it's a good clear. I was actually out
- 8:05there on tour with a band with an acy DC tribute band about about seven
- 8:09years ago, I think, And is there Maharaje Is there a count called
- 8:11maharaj oh Maha? Yeah, yeah, we played there. There's a nice
- 8:16little pub of that, a little downstairs live music area, and a great
- 8:22time there is because I think there's about four hundred and fifty people there.
- 8:24You guys are fucking insane. Wow. That's that's a really that's a random
- 8:31tied feud ben and I love that. Yeah right, yeah, well that's
- 8:33the only one I remember out of the whole I don't remember the name of
- 8:37anyway. It was an acy DC tribute band called Akadaka, and we tour
- 8:39it all all the way through Ireland and I've had the time of our lives.
- 8:43There's just such a such a beautiful country. Yeah, it's good.
- 8:46It's good fun over here. People are people are friendly, you know,
- 8:48everybody wants the chart and stuff. You know, it's good fun. The
- 8:52beer is good and the music's good, so what's not to love about it?
- 8:56Yeah, exactly, girl. So he's going to be heading out on
- 8:58any showers, are heading out the road to provide the new album. Yes,
- 9:03we had a and I think it's about three weeks now. We're doing
- 9:07the No bless and Ignorance to Her, which sort of runs a couple of
- 9:11weekends. So we're going over to England. First, we're going to Bristol,
- 9:18Luton and Norwich, and then I think we're home for a two weeks
- 9:20and then we're going back again. We're doing oh where is it this time?
- 9:24We're doing London anyway, We're doing Camden in London, We're doing Birmingham.
- 9:30See how good my memory is here? Newport? Oh, there's one
- 9:35another? Not again. No it's not even I don't think it is not.
- 9:43But that would have been good if I get set out of all the
- 9:45towns in England, that would have been amazing, to be fair. But
- 9:50yeah, and then we're doing Dublin and Goal so yeah nice. And if
- 9:56you guys ever been out this way before the Australia, yeah, I mean
- 10:01we would, we would love to. I personally, I used to live
- 10:05in Australia. A couple of years ago. Like, I love it out
- 10:09there, but it was the cost of getting the bond out there. Is
- 10:11sure I wouldn't get somebody else to pay for it. I would say definitely,
- 10:16we'll be out there soon, but still working on that. Leave it
- 10:18with me, mate, I'll see if I can talk somebody your daughter,
- 10:22because I reckon you guys would be fantastic live. I'll get somebody else to
- 10:26pay for it so you can come over here and I can see it.
- 10:33Well, she's all right, animal, Thanks very much for your time that
- 10:35I brought. The album No Bliss Ignorance is out this Friday during the seventh
- 10:39and she's an absolutely fucking cracking album. Rosa, Congratulations and hopefully you do
