Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Thanks Mike Lane, you managed to salvage a point in
- 0:04Speaker 1: Florida after a less than ideal start, you finished the
- 0:07Speaker 1: game strong in the third period. Just take us back
- 0:10Speaker 1: through probably one of the wilder games in recent memory
- 0:12Speaker 1: back in Florida.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought our guys did a really good job
- 0:16Speaker 2: of sticking with it and finding a way to you know,
- 0:19Speaker 2: get a point. Unfortunately, we couldn't get the second one.
- 0:22Speaker 2: You know, we had some chances, obviously, and you know,
- 0:25Speaker 2: after we tied it up at four, I really had
- 0:27Speaker 2: a really good chance to make it five right away.
- 0:29Speaker 2: But you know, looking bleak at four one, you know,
- 0:35Speaker 2: with less than ten minutes left in the game, to
- 0:36Speaker 2: come back and get ourselves, you know, a point was
- 0:40Speaker 2: a huge, huge situation for us. You know, I didn't
- 0:43Speaker 2: think the game was played poorly. I think we're making
- 0:47Speaker 2: you know, made a couple of mistakes and they ended
- 0:48Speaker 2: up in the back of Burnett, and I think, you know,
- 0:51Speaker 2: I think there's a couple that probably Joey would like
- 0:54Speaker 2: back as well.
- 0:54Speaker 1: What was the turning point in your mind for the
- 0:56Speaker 1: Krakens performance in the last twenty minutes eighteen minutes of
- 1:00Speaker 1: that game compared to the first two periods.
- 1:02Speaker 2: Well, I thought we you know, I thought, like I said,
- 1:06Speaker 2: I didn't think the first two periods were that bad.
- 1:08Speaker 2: I thought we had a really good second period. I
- 1:10Speaker 2: thought we had a number of opportunities to score, and
- 1:13Speaker 2: you know, we've got to we've got to put the
- 1:15Speaker 2: puck in the net. Our team and any team feeds
- 1:18Speaker 2: off of, you know, the lead or putting putting pucks in.
- 1:22Speaker 2: We had plenty of good scoring chances to do that.
- 1:25Speaker 2: You know, I think once we got that second goal,
- 1:27Speaker 2: I got a little bit of life. You know, that
- 1:29Speaker 2: helped us for sure.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Oscar Fisker Mulgard called up from Coachella Valley. We've seen
- 1:33Speaker 1: him a couple of games this year, earlier in the season.
- 1:35Speaker 1: What are you looking for out of him and what
- 1:37Speaker 1: in your mind necessitated that call up for him?
- 1:40Speaker 2: Responsible forward, you know that plays both ends of the puck,
- 1:44Speaker 2: both ends of the rink. You know, we we tried
- 1:49Speaker 2: some things early on in the trip didn't really work out. So,
- 1:52Speaker 2: you know, Oscar is a little bit more of a
- 1:54Speaker 2: i'd say steady player who's played at a high level,
- 1:59Speaker 2: and we'll give him a opportunity. He's played well when
- 2:02Speaker 2: he's came up here. His lice time has been limited
- 2:04Speaker 2: when he's been here, but his ice time will increase now.
- 2:07Speaker 1: When you look at the situations of games with a
- 2:09Speaker 1: player like Oscar Fisker Mulgard who you know, what he
- 2:12Speaker 1: can bring to the table. Are there ever any chances
- 2:15Speaker 1: of you trying to get him more ice time, maybe
- 2:17Speaker 1: try to shorten your bench a little bit, or do
- 2:20Speaker 1: you typically just go situations on the ice And in
- 2:23Speaker 1: terms of that way, well, like.
- 2:25Speaker 2: I said, we'll see, you know, he's you can expect
- 2:27Speaker 2: to play more than the six minutes that he played
- 2:30Speaker 2: in LA just before Christmas, So you know, we'll mix
- 2:34Speaker 2: him in with different situations. And you know, we've been
- 2:37Speaker 2: running with four penalty killers here for a while without Schwartz, Winterton,
- 2:42Speaker 2: you know, and so and even Tolvenen when he was hurt.
- 2:45Speaker 2: So we have to, you know, have to mix him
- 2:47Speaker 2: in that in that role as well to conserve some
- 2:51Speaker 2: energy for some of our forwards.
- 2:52Speaker 1: You lost the table back at home before this road trip.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Nikita Kucherov showing why he is one of the best
- 2:57Speaker 1: players in the world. How do you go about slowing
- 2:59Speaker 1: him down tonight and what lessons do you need to
- 3:02Speaker 1: take from that six to two loss back at home.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Yeah, well, you know we talked about our mistakes were catastrophic.
- 3:09Speaker 2: We made individual errors and turnovers. So we can't turn
- 3:12Speaker 2: the puck over. Obviously, we have to manage the puck
- 3:14Speaker 2: a lot better. I didn't think the game was you know,
- 3:17Speaker 2: necessarily six too. It was the turnovers that we gave them,
- 3:20Speaker 2: and like I said before, they had some tick tac
- 3:22Speaker 2: toe goals. So we have to cut down those mistakes
- 3:25Speaker 2: as best we possibly can. We've got to understand that,
- 3:27Speaker 2: you know, this game is about gaining territory, and if
- 3:30Speaker 2: we can get in on the four check and play
- 3:32Speaker 2: in their zone, we're gonna have a lot more success
- 3:33Speaker 2: than if we don't. And I thought we did a
- 3:35Speaker 2: much better job of that in Florida last game. You know,
- 3:38Speaker 2: we had a lot more zone time. We had more
- 3:40Speaker 2: zone time than Florida did, which you know, obviously it
- 3:44Speaker 2: cuts down our defensive zone time and gives us more
- 3:46Speaker 2: of an opportunity to play offense. So we have to
- 3:49Speaker 2: try and do that. Tonight focuses on that, and clearly
- 3:52Speaker 2: you have to make sure that you know where Kutrof
- 3:54Speaker 2: is at all times.
- 3:55Speaker 1: With that in mind, how important is a good start
- 3:57Speaker 1: tonight for the cracking well.
- 3:58Speaker 2: We need a great start, you know. It goes without saying.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Our starts haven't been good enough overall, so it's crunch
- 4:05Speaker 2: time again.
- 4:06Speaker 1: You know.
- 4:06Speaker 2: We have to make sure we have a good start.
