- 0:00Speaker 1: Coming up on Relatables.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Just a few days ago, we finally finally got around
- 0:06Speaker 2: to recording the music video for Translucent.
- 0:09Speaker 3: Words Left Unspoken, Feelings left dunset. I'm drowning in emotions,
- 0:17Speaker 3: trapped in my own head.
- 0:18Speaker 1: When you look.
- 0:19Speaker 4: At me, I who you look right through me? Are
- 0:23Speaker 4: you women? Sorry? It turned me apart. When I see
- 0:28Speaker 4: you with her, I see you happy?
- 0:33Speaker 3: But did you have to go and stabbed me through
- 0:36Speaker 3: the heart?
- 0:43Speaker 1: Relatable Party.
- 0:51Speaker 2: The Relatables podcast is hosted by myself, Jacob Craig aka
- 0:55Speaker 2: an artist oh An Aunty Clark aka a lose artist,
- 1:02Speaker 2: A losing artist. Guys, so today is an exciting day.
- 1:08Speaker 2: We would like to take a bit of accountability first,
- 1:13Speaker 2: and I would like to point out that it is
- 1:15Speaker 2: currently it's December fourth, and I'm pretty sure Addie and
- 1:22Speaker 2: I if you guys have been listening for at least
- 1:26Speaker 2: nine months?
- 1:27Speaker 1: Was it nine months?
- 1:28Speaker 2: It's been a while. A long time ago, Addie challenged
- 1:32Speaker 2: me to make a song with him against each other.
- 1:35Speaker 2: We both made a song. We pro We documented the process.
- 1:39Speaker 2: It's a vlog on Patreon that go sign up if
- 1:42Speaker 2: you want to watch that vlog.
- 1:43Speaker 1: It's a while back we.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Both went and made a song individually with Toby Wells.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Shout out to Toby Wells. I think one reason not
- 1:50Speaker 1: making excuses I was a little bit disheartened with we
- 1:54Speaker 1: didn't follow up on what we're about to say is
- 1:56Speaker 1: those episodes were terribly performing day now, they didn't do
- 1:59Speaker 1: very I see that shit, And maybe maybe that's another
- 2:02Speaker 1: thing where I shouldn't look at the statistics. Oh okay,
- 2:05Speaker 1: maybe I thought it was a really good episode.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Yeah, No, it's more about Yeah, I think if you
- 2:08Speaker 2: if you love an episode, fuck it.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. So we made songs.
- 2:13Speaker 2: We made it this whole thing of like weave a
- 2:16Speaker 2: snippet and then we did like ODDI did his full song,
- 2:18Speaker 2: and then we did a sniff in of mine, and
- 2:19Speaker 2: then we did that my full song, and then we
- 2:21Speaker 2: released them on Spotify and you can go listen to them.
- 2:24Speaker 2: And then we said, whoever gets the most streams in
- 2:27Speaker 2: a month will make a music video.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Did we say one month or nine months?
- 2:31Speaker 2: No, yeah, you know we're thinking about it. Actually a
- 2:34Speaker 2: one in a night, they're not far off or you're
- 2:36Speaker 2: missing is a little curve on the top of the
- 2:38Speaker 2: on top of the straight line.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Maybe we said ten months, like the zero after, we're
- 2:41Speaker 1: gonna confused and we're actually there.
- 2:43Speaker 2: So you guys kept asking, and we kept thinking, we
- 2:45Speaker 2: said nine months. That's why we were ignoring you guys.
- 2:47Speaker 1: We were like, we said nine months.
- 2:50Speaker 2: But we would like to just Audie, can we please
- 2:54Speaker 2: hear a little bit of your song?
- 2:56Speaker 1: You can caught in my thoughts.
- 2:58Speaker 2: But Audick, what do you want me to just play
- 3:01Speaker 2: from the start the minute? What do you want just
- 3:02Speaker 2: a little bit of the start?
- 3:14Speaker 1: Thinking all the time lost him my mind echoes from
- 3:20Speaker 1: the plastic game to fun. Oh yeah, feeling like gone,
- 3:27Speaker 1: being left behind card I my thoughts I started before.
- 3:33Speaker 5: Yeah, such inferences I can't find, never believe in this.
- 3:47Speaker 6: It's made of my mind time, my thoughts lost him by.
- 3:55Speaker 2: If you ask me, how the fuck did I lose
- 3:58Speaker 2: a bang up? That is ordered my thoughts by Ottie Clark. Oh,
- 4:03Speaker 2: I just thought too.
- 4:04Speaker 1: I just came to me. This all stems from remember
- 4:06Speaker 1: ages ago. So me and Jacob been through Jake's first parents'
- 4:10Speaker 1: house set up. Then we went to this garage in like.
- 4:14Speaker 2: No, no, we went Jake's first my parents' place right
- 4:17Speaker 2: where I was living there. Yeah, their house and we
- 4:19Speaker 2: set up in a corner. It was like zero design.
- 4:21Speaker 2: It was just like what we had. And then we
- 4:23Speaker 2: moved here and we did go in that room in
- 4:25Speaker 2: the painted with the black chalk paint.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Got about that.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Then we moved up into the garage in the corner
- 4:30Speaker 2: where it is sitting. Yeah, and we had it and
- 4:34Speaker 2: it was just.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Literally a garage.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Sometimes sometimes Otti's car was parked in here while we
- 4:38Speaker 2: were recording and it was stinking hot in the summer,
- 4:40Speaker 2: by the way.
- 4:40Speaker 1: But do you remember in that setup, I challenged you
- 4:43Speaker 1: to make a song and it was terrible. We made
- 4:45Speaker 1: it ourself because we only had like five hundred listeners.
- 4:47Speaker 1: We went and made a song on garage band. Yeah,
- 4:51Speaker 1: we challenged each other and you won that one as well.
- 4:53Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure. See you mind have a little bit
- 4:55Speaker 1: of a Mac for this. I just thought of that.
- 4:57Speaker 2: I would like to point out that when I was
- 4:58Speaker 2: in the recording seat, it was studio Toby Wells. A
- 5:01Speaker 2: couple of the times when when I was when I
- 5:04Speaker 2: was hitting some of them notes, he was like, mate,
- 5:06Speaker 2: he was like, let's go, And I was like, but
- 5:08Speaker 2: you didn't say that he did you?
- 5:11Speaker 1: Reflecting on my experience in the studio. I was struggling.
- 5:15Speaker 2: I had a fucking blast. Is it tone deaf or
- 5:18Speaker 2: like I don't know when to start singing like on cue?
- 5:21Speaker 2: Maybe maybe you have poor timing? But also tone deaf
- 5:23Speaker 2: is a thing. Yeah, but I've got all that. So
- 5:27Speaker 2: so that was called My Thoughts by Ottie Clark, right,
- 5:30Speaker 2: and I have a feeling.
- 5:32Speaker 1: So we've explained what his song's about.
- 5:34Speaker 2: It's easy to call my thoughts like, oh, he's like overthink,
- 5:36Speaker 2: he's calling his thoughts and he's just slow down and
- 5:38Speaker 2: needs to, you know, let himself breathe. And then mine
- 5:41Speaker 2: was called translucent by Jake Craig. And should we play
- 5:46Speaker 2: a bit and then I'll give a quick rundown of
- 5:48Speaker 2: what it was.
- 5:48Speaker 7: Yeah, let's do it asked the memories of what we
- 6:01Speaker 7: used to be.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Everywhere I turn, you're last.
- 6:07Speaker 3: See your laughter. That goes hunting me and I try
- 6:15Speaker 3: to move on. It doesn't feel right when you look
- 6:19Speaker 3: at me?
- 6:21Speaker 1: Do you look through me?
- 6:23Speaker 4: Are you even sorry? It turns me apart When I
- 6:28Speaker 4: see you with her, I see you have But did
- 6:34Speaker 4: you have to go and stab me through the heart?
- 6:37Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 6:45Speaker 1: Ah ah? So that is translucent by yours truly I
- 6:50Speaker 1: do see why you want Yours is a lot smoother.
- 6:52Speaker 2: It's yeah, I went definitely for the guy the people
- 6:55Speaker 2: that Toby and I have listened to a bit of
- 6:57Speaker 2: before we went into it with the Fray.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Oh yeah, interesting.
- 7:01Speaker 2: And so mine was about I actually wrote mine the
- 7:04Speaker 2: day before we went I went to record it, and
- 7:06Speaker 2: mine was about losing your best friend to.
- 7:09Speaker 1: A girlfriend, even though I also have a girlfriend. And
- 7:13Speaker 1: that one, yeah you won. And so what are the
- 7:15Speaker 1: streams at? The streams are at Call to my Thoughts
- 7:18Speaker 1: by Audie Clark is five thousand and sixty six, Really
- 7:22Speaker 1: you pumped me? But translution by Jake Craig is eight
- 7:27Speaker 1: hundred and twenty.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Fucking what I thought, Harry the other day, I had
- 7:30Speaker 2: three thousand listens on it.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Well, what happens in our favor is because people go
- 7:34Speaker 1: back and listen to that episode, yeah, and then they
- 7:36Speaker 1: go and listen to the song. So it's actually like
- 7:39Speaker 1: a really good system.
- 7:41Speaker 2: And so basically when we knew for a long time
- 7:44Speaker 2: I was making a music video, yeah, and we kept
- 7:46Speaker 2: putting it off because.
- 7:47Speaker 1: One we're lazy.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Two I was scared to do it and didn't want
- 7:50Speaker 2: to do it. I never brought it up, and then
- 7:52Speaker 2: three were lazy and we were a bit busy. Him. Yeah,
- 7:57Speaker 2: so just a few days go, we finally finally got
- 8:03Speaker 2: around to recording the music video for Translucent, and it's good,
- 8:07Speaker 2: and we would like to I don't want to put
- 8:10Speaker 2: the audio listeners through a whole three minutes of me
- 8:12Speaker 2: singing a song that's really not that good, but it
- 8:14Speaker 2: is pretty funny. But if you we're gonna have a
- 8:18Speaker 2: link in the description of this video to go. We're
- 8:21Speaker 2: gonna post it on our YouTube, the full music video
- 8:23Speaker 2: of Translucent, And yeah, we would just like everyone to know.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Congratulations man, And yeah, I'm going to put it to
- 8:30Speaker 1: the people. And you, Okay, just reminiscing in all this greatness.
- 8:35Speaker 1: And I was thinking about myself in the studio. I'm
- 8:37Speaker 1: sure you were doing the same, should we? I actually
- 8:40Speaker 1: thoroughly enjoyed it same I sucked. That feels like you're
- 8:43Speaker 1: a bit better than me. But I hated the writing process.
- 8:45Speaker 1: If people want it, should I actually like the writing.
- 8:48Speaker 1: But that was kind of my like part that I'm
- 8:49Speaker 1: good at, IM good at like the end goal. Okay, Okay,
- 8:52Speaker 1: you're not your You're you suck at what's important. I
- 8:55Speaker 1: could be one of those ghostwriters facts. Yeah. But should
- 8:59Speaker 1: we write a song together?
- 9:01Speaker 2: Yeah, fucking oes we should.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Should we write a song together and go you'll probably
- 9:05Speaker 1: a New Year project. Yeah, yeah, yeah, and we'll go
- 9:07Speaker 1: to Toby. We'll be like, we got a new song idea,
- 9:09Speaker 1: let's write an album. So maybe if the music video
- 9:13Speaker 1: gets a certain amount of likes, we'll do it. What
- 9:17Speaker 1: do you think it? Maybe we don't get that many likes.
- 9:20Speaker 1: A thousand, a thousand likes?
- 9:22Speaker 2: Yeah you reckon?
- 9:23Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 9:23Speaker 2: Okay, shit, yeah, a thousand likes.
- 9:25Speaker 1: If the music video gets a thousand likes, me and
- 9:27Speaker 1: Jake will do a song together, and in the future
- 9:29Speaker 1: there could be an album. Yeah, this could be a
- 9:31Speaker 1: whole thing.
- 9:32Speaker 2: What would be quickly before we before we move on?
- 9:34Speaker 1: What do you reckon? We if we were a duo? Right?
- 9:38Speaker 1: What do we call ourselves? Relatables? Oh that's a good point.
- 9:41Speaker 2: I like that name that you mean, like our performing name? Yeah, okay,
- 9:49Speaker 2: think about it. Like I've been listening to a lot
- 9:50Speaker 2: of Hamish and Andy, right, And they had a thing
- 9:52Speaker 2: where when they were younger, they made a band and
- 9:53Speaker 2: it was called Cool Boys in the front Man and
- 9:56Speaker 2: they had a whole thing, where like they were the
- 9:57Speaker 2: cool boys who played a weird instrument, and then they
- 9:59Speaker 2: had they a front man that would bring in like
- 10:01Speaker 2: they got like guys abashing to be the frontman one
- 10:03Speaker 2: night ship like that, and then there's the inspired unemployed.
- 10:07Speaker 2: They have a friend who has something what's it called
- 10:10Speaker 2: big twisting in the funk twisting and the funk nasty.
- 10:13Speaker 2: We need to think of a name, or do we
- 10:14Speaker 2: want the badies to name us? Oh, that's a good point.
- 10:18Speaker 2: I'm thinking like Audie Clark and.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Clark and his Beaches. To be fair, you're probably more
- 10:24Speaker 1: a front man on the top of our head, I'm thinking, yeah, yeah,
- 10:30Speaker 1: you're like Dingle. What do you used to call me?
- 10:32Speaker 1: What dingland beany?
- 10:36Speaker 2: What did we what was some of the things we
- 10:38Speaker 2: wanted to call ourselves before we chose relatables. I don't
- 10:41Speaker 2: even remember.
- 10:42Speaker 1: I don't even remember. It was that long ago. I
- 10:44Speaker 1: don't think we landed on anything. Nah, I think, yeah,
- 10:46Speaker 1: I don't think we had any name. There was no
- 10:48Speaker 1: front runner. No, there wasn't We didn't have anything, and
- 10:50Speaker 1: then you came up with relatables we could be We
- 10:53Speaker 1: started with undtables. True. I feel like that's not not
- 10:57Speaker 1: really like it really in our territory relatable at the moment.
- 11:00Speaker 1: What about like, yeah, maybe we'll put it to the
- 11:02Speaker 1: Facebook group for the name of like our front names. Yeah,
- 11:05Speaker 1: because obviously called Relatables. Yeah we need stage names.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Yeah, stage I reckon stage names. Masks, Magic Jake, we
- 11:13Speaker 2: go masks shirtless, right, and it's like obviously very well
- 11:16Speaker 2: known that this is Jake Craig and Ottie Clark from
- 11:19Speaker 2: the Relatables, but we pretend like we think nobody knows
- 11:23Speaker 2: that it's us, and we do concerts and everything, and
- 11:26Speaker 2: we are wearing masks, and yeah.
- 11:28Speaker 1: This could be be fucking fun.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Like, I'm sorry, guys, Like I really appreciate I really
- 11:33Speaker 2: like everyone's input. I care about everyone's opinion that listens.
- 11:36Speaker 2: But if you don't think this is a good idea,
- 11:37Speaker 2: I don't give a fuck because I think this is
- 11:39Speaker 2: going to be the funniest thing, funnest thing we've ever done.
- 11:41Speaker 1: It's fun.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I want to do it.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, same, alrighty everybody, I've got a little bit
- 11:52Speaker 1: of a story time for you now, and a bit
- 11:54Speaker 1: of our experience being in the podcast industry, in the
- 11:58Speaker 1: media industry, and I just want to tell everybody. So
- 12:01Speaker 1: when we first started the podcast, we obviously wanted to
- 12:05Speaker 1: entertain everyone, but within that we wanted to hide a
- 12:08Speaker 1: good message or like a nice message and maybe just
- 12:11Speaker 1: leave that tiny bit of a positive impact in every
- 12:14Speaker 1: single episode.
- 12:15Speaker 2: Social media, on the other hand, it highlights drama, misinformation,
- 12:20Speaker 2: and the top zero point zero zero one percent of
- 12:23Speaker 2: people that you really shouldn't be comparing yourself to. And
- 12:29Speaker 2: even though it has those bad elements, it also does
- 12:32Speaker 2: bring an element of you can find your crowd like
- 12:36Speaker 2: never before in sometimes when you don't feel like you
- 12:38Speaker 2: belong somewhere, and.
- 12:40Speaker 1: The community we're building together, we couldn't be happy with kind, positive,
- 12:45Speaker 1: supportive dreamers, which we've really found out once we've started
- 12:49Speaker 1: the Facebook group. Everyone's so kind and positive in there,
- 12:52Speaker 1: and we would like to say that we love every
- 12:54Speaker 1: single one of you.
- 12:55Speaker 2: And we wanted to bring up probably one of our
- 12:58Speaker 2: not probably but deaf definitely our best favorite, most treasure
- 13:03Speaker 2: i'd say, experience through starting the podcast, and that was
- 13:07Speaker 2: about a year ago, a little over a year ago,
- 13:09Speaker 2: probably our now really good friend Harry from Blues and Greens,
- 13:13Speaker 2: who everyone knows if you've listened for even just fucking
- 13:15Speaker 2: two weeks he hit us up on Instagram and just
- 13:19Speaker 2: told us how much he resonated with the podcast. You know,
- 13:21Speaker 2: the podcast wasn't very big yet, and he just he
- 13:24Speaker 2: loved it, and he sent us Harry had a Blues
- 13:27Speaker 2: and Greens clothing line, and he sent us a couple
- 13:30Speaker 2: of items that we loved and we were wearing them.
- 13:32Speaker 2: And after that we stayed connected and he'd always send
- 13:35Speaker 2: us little recaps of Harry was a support worker and
- 13:38Speaker 2: he had a client who just really liked the podcast,
- 13:42Speaker 2: and he'd always send us like videos of the client
- 13:44Speaker 2: saying hi, and just at areas of which the podcast
- 13:47Speaker 2: he liked and stuff like that. And then, yeah, Harry
- 13:49Speaker 2: just became a heaps good mate.
- 13:51Speaker 1: Yeah, and we're so grateful of the friendship that for
- 13:54Speaker 1: from that form from that, and fast forward about six
- 13:56Speaker 1: months later, the pod was doing good and for us,
- 14:00Speaker 1: a lot of companies were coming forward and wanting us
- 14:03Speaker 1: to produce, as they like to call it, merch. But
- 14:07Speaker 1: we were a little bit overwhelmed and something in our
- 14:08Speaker 1: gut was being like, ah nah, something about this doesn't
- 14:11Speaker 1: really feel right, felt inauthentic, and felt like a bit
- 14:14Speaker 1: of like a money grabbing a sense. But it's funny
- 14:17Speaker 1: how the stars align. And just from catching up with
- 14:19Speaker 1: Harry and there was a little bit of a seed
- 14:21Speaker 1: planted here and there. I don't know if it was
- 14:24Speaker 1: Harry or us, but we said do we want to
- 14:26Speaker 1: work together for the first time where we dropped hoodies
- 14:29Speaker 1: which was a great success, and Harry, like, you wouldn't
- 14:33Speaker 1: even think to experience something like this if you worked
- 14:36Speaker 1: with one of those big brands who produces merch. Harry
- 14:38Speaker 1: flew from West I was on his own course to Sydney,
- 14:40Speaker 1: stayed at Jake's house and we had a very successful drop.
- 14:45Speaker 1: But beyond anything else, we got to know each other
- 14:47Speaker 1: really well, and it didn't really feel like work when
- 14:50Speaker 1: we were dropping the hoodies.
- 14:51Speaker 2: It was a lot of fun. We got to know
- 14:53Speaker 2: each other and we had a great time doing it. Yeah,
- 14:56Speaker 2: and now I was fucking sick, eh ah. And then
- 15:00Speaker 2: we actually are genuinely good mates now. And I'll speak
- 15:04Speaker 2: for Oddie on this. He probably could say, but ODDI
- 15:07Speaker 2: went to Bali and I didn't go last time, as
- 15:09Speaker 2: everyone knows. And you know, Harry even flew over. I
- 15:12Speaker 2: don't think he flew out a four Oddie, but he
- 15:14Speaker 2: was there for his birthday. They got to spend that
- 15:16Speaker 2: odd his birthday together and you know, more time, he's
- 15:19Speaker 2: even Harry's even friends with our friend Jack, who if
- 15:21Speaker 2: you've ever been a part of Patron, you know Jack
- 15:24Speaker 2: a bit of a loose canon.
- 15:25Speaker 1: But it's funny because social media, it's a reoccurring theme
- 15:29Speaker 1: on the podcast, is so tricky to navigate, and it's
- 15:32Speaker 1: so easy to get caught up in all those terrible
- 15:34Speaker 1: things like likes, follows, and it's sometimes really hard to
- 15:38Speaker 1: find your authentic people. But this is a good story,
- 15:41Speaker 1: and just by putting ourselves out there, and by Harry
- 15:44Speaker 1: putting himself out there with his brand and sending us
- 15:46Speaker 1: a DM, we were able to find each other, which
- 15:49Speaker 1: I think social media and the online world should really
- 15:52Speaker 1: highlight a lot more often, these positive, individual, personalized stories
- 15:57Speaker 1: rather than these big million all the deals and everything
- 16:01Speaker 1: like that is what gets traction. So with that, we
- 16:05Speaker 1: want to say a big hello to Harry. He was
- 16:10Speaker 1: sitting there patiently.
- 16:11Speaker 8: Patiently getting sweaty palms. Very sweet and I very much
- 16:16Speaker 8: agree like social media as a whole or something I'm
- 16:18Speaker 8: passionate about about, like properly being able to share my
- 16:22Speaker 8: message help to people to utilize it for a positive
- 16:24Speaker 8: because beyond like all the big negatives, the headlines and that,
- 16:27Speaker 8: there's things like this where you'll never even had the
- 16:30Speaker 8: opportunity to build friendships and connect with people who you
- 16:32Speaker 8: can see a like mind. Have especially been in like
- 16:35Speaker 8: you're in Central Coast, I'm in Perth, the two pretty
- 16:37Speaker 8: isolated little places where you can get the comfort blake
- 16:40Speaker 8: and to stay in the sameness. But yeah, it's probably
- 16:42Speaker 8: been the best thing that's ever come for me from
- 16:45Speaker 8: social media, from the brand itself. So I'd say, so
- 16:48Speaker 8: what's come from for something that's come from social media?
- 16:51Speaker 8: I mean, to be fair, I met Beth on social media,
- 16:52Speaker 8: so that's a pretty good thing. But other than like
- 16:54Speaker 8: from the podcast, it's fucking been honestly the sickest thing.
- 16:57Speaker 8: Like yesterday, Harry and I went for a run together
- 17:00Speaker 8: and we were just like we had stopped and we
- 17:02Speaker 8: were kind of walking back as like a warm down,
- 17:04Speaker 8: and I don't know how the topic came back, but
- 17:05Speaker 8: I remember came up, but I just remember saying, like
- 17:08Speaker 8: I was saying, like thinking about it, you're our only
- 17:10Speaker 8: friend now obviously we haven't been friends for the longest time,
- 17:13Speaker 8: like friends from school, but you're our only friend that's
- 17:15Speaker 8: like in the same in the game category all out,
- 17:20Speaker 8: Like all this stuff we talk about with our friends
- 17:21Speaker 8: is like if we ever see them as kind of like,
- 17:23Speaker 8: you know, what they're doing at work trady shit.
- 17:26Speaker 2: Like they still they don't. Well, the one thing I
- 17:30Speaker 2: was reflecting upon we're doing another T shirt drop, which
- 17:32Speaker 2: would have already happened as you're listening to this episode. Yeah,
- 17:35Speaker 2: why Harry is back. But I was reflecting I always
- 17:37Speaker 2: have my best thoughts in the shower. Yeah, I was
- 17:39Speaker 2: thinking about our relationship with Harry, and it's sort of
- 17:42Speaker 2: cool because a lot of our friends we've talked about
- 17:45Speaker 2: it before, went the opposite approach to Harry, And as
- 17:48Speaker 2: we started to get like more traction to them, we
- 17:51Speaker 2: became more as less of a friend and more of
- 17:56Speaker 2: like a personality online and they started to.
- 17:58Speaker 1: Distance themselves from us. Yeah, where Harry, on the other hand,
- 18:01Speaker 1: took the opposite approach of that. He was drawn, he
- 18:04Speaker 1: was drawn to us and magnets. Yeah, he resonated with
- 18:09Speaker 1: what we were saying. And rather than being like, oh,
- 18:10Speaker 1: these guys are fucking getting traction now, I'm not going
- 18:13Speaker 1: to talk to them. He was like, Oh, now I'm
- 18:14Speaker 1: going to listen to them. I'm going to give him
- 18:16Speaker 1: a chance. Or these guys are actually kind of cool.
- 18:18Speaker 1: I'm going a message him and say I think they're cool. Yeah,
- 18:20Speaker 1: And then we're like, fuck, no one's ever done that before,
- 18:22Speaker 1: especially when he messages that time. We probably were a
- 18:25Speaker 1: thirdly size we are right now, I think.
- 18:27Speaker 8: Smaller than I think at the time as well, it
- 18:29Speaker 8: was almost was like and I said it in that
- 18:31Speaker 8: original message, and we've gone over before in the pot.
- 18:33Speaker 1: It was like a relief for me.
- 18:34Speaker 8: That there was other young guys out there who were
- 18:36Speaker 8: willing to share the way that actually felt online. So
- 18:39Speaker 8: I was very much at that point, very much new
- 18:41Speaker 8: to like my social media journey. Like I rarely was
- 18:43Speaker 8: even posting at that point, and I never had the
- 18:46Speaker 8: chance to look at and compare and feel like I
- 18:48Speaker 8: was okay to a bloways how I felt. So seeing
- 18:51Speaker 8: you guys have your friendship online almost friendships what I
- 18:54Speaker 8: felt like I had behind closed doors was like a
- 18:56Speaker 8: feeling of like it almost made me feel a part
- 18:59Speaker 8: and made me not feel like an outlier as such,
- 19:02Speaker 8: I was yet naturally drawn to you and you were
- 19:04Speaker 8: in that position where it's like I wanted to get
- 19:07Speaker 8: to that point. Obviously different pass and somehow now are
- 19:11Speaker 8: passed of a line. But like you're already in the game.
- 19:13Speaker 8: You already had built your community and built your following,
- 19:15Speaker 8: so I very much looked up to that. And then
- 19:17Speaker 8: naturally it's like you can't. I came over here for
- 19:19Speaker 8: the first time without meeting news and it's like, how
- 19:22Speaker 8: is it gonna how is it gonna happen? Like, yeah,
- 19:24Speaker 8: who are these guys are just gonna think they're fucking
- 19:26Speaker 8: top shit blah blah blah. Yeah, but like it's so
- 19:29Speaker 8: and funny. We said, it's gonna ties back into our shirts.
- 19:32Speaker 1: But like.
- 19:34Speaker 8: It's funny how everyone just is human. And it's like
- 19:36Speaker 8: you can see these personalities online and you think that
- 19:39Speaker 8: they're going to be this certain way. You think they're
- 19:41Speaker 8: going to be extrovert, you think they may be I'll
- 19:42Speaker 8: be quiet, whatever your idea of them that you had
- 19:45Speaker 8: online was. But then at the end of the day,
- 19:47Speaker 8: everyone just is human, just like you and you guys
- 19:49Speaker 8: are just like two young guys who are willing to
- 19:52Speaker 8: be yourselves, who are willing to like be open and
- 19:55Speaker 8: like beyond any social media following, and we had this
- 19:57Speaker 8: conversation today like it actually didn't changed the people you were,
- 20:01Speaker 8: and evenything allowed it to be more of who you
- 20:03Speaker 8: actually are because you had a platform.
- 20:05Speaker 1: To do that.
- 20:06Speaker 2: Yeah, Harry was asking me before you got your audio.
- 20:08Speaker 2: I think I don't. I think it was just something
- 20:10Speaker 2: about like we thought we were, we were taught, we
- 20:12Speaker 2: were just like talking about followers. I don't know, you're
- 20:14Speaker 2: talking about random shit. But when we I think when
- 20:19Speaker 2: Harry first messaged us, it was while we're in Bali, right, yeah, yeah,
- 20:24Speaker 2: or just before or just before Bali, and I remember,
- 20:27Speaker 2: just like you talking about we're talking about the social
- 20:29Speaker 2: media thing, and and I think we had like ten
- 20:33Speaker 2: K followers on Instagram and then I do remember like
- 20:36Speaker 2: when we went to Bali were there for six week
- 20:39Speaker 2: before when we got home from Bali, we had like
- 20:41Speaker 2: seventy k. And then Harry was like, oh, did that
- 20:43Speaker 2: ever get to your head? Like the quickness in which
- 20:46Speaker 2: it just kind of like went, And I was like,
- 20:47Speaker 2: I don't know, Like I don't think it did, and
- 20:50Speaker 2: I don't think it went to Ottie's head, but you
- 20:52Speaker 2: would have to ask someone that's not us.
- 20:54Speaker 1: I think you know.
- 20:54Speaker 2: It's a point because like we can, I can look
- 20:56Speaker 2: at you and be like, oh, I don't I obviously
- 20:58Speaker 2: don't think it went to your head and I don't
- 21:00Speaker 2: and went to my head. But I don't think the
- 21:01Speaker 2: best person to ask could be I guess Joanna, Yeah,
- 21:03Speaker 2: someone who's closed she was there from the start, and yeah,
- 21:06Speaker 2: I mean fuck, I don't think. I like, I feel
- 21:08Speaker 2: like my family would call me up if I had been.
- 21:11Speaker 8: I think from a friend's perspective, is that like that
- 21:14Speaker 8: would have looked at that naively without really knowing you
- 21:17Speaker 8: that well, Like, as you say, you don't see your
- 21:19Speaker 8: friends that often, and they would have just seen your
- 21:21Speaker 8: followers grown and naturally would that No, might have just
- 21:24Speaker 8: been like, oh, these guys just think the top shit. Now,
- 21:28Speaker 8: that's how sort of boys operating that tall poppy syndrome mentality.
- 21:33Speaker 2: But really like they're not even giving you a chance
- 21:35Speaker 2: to It's also to put yourself out there online, you
- 21:38Speaker 2: have to come across as a little bit full of yourself,
- 21:41Speaker 2: even if you completely aren't. Just by posting yourself like,
- 21:44Speaker 2: you come across as like all these guy thinks he's
- 21:46Speaker 2: a ship no matter what you do. Even for girls,
- 21:48Speaker 2: this girl thinks she's a shit. I think if you
- 21:50Speaker 2: fucking post a podcast, whether or not you're doing it
- 21:52Speaker 2: because you just want to do it as a hobby
- 21:53Speaker 2: or you do want it to be a job one day,
- 21:55Speaker 2: I think you have to have some sort of level
- 21:57Speaker 2: of narcissism to think like people will won't want to
- 21:59Speaker 2: hear what I have to say. And I don't think
- 22:00Speaker 2: it's an unhealthy amount. I think there's like a healthy
- 22:02Speaker 2: amounts of I guess narcissism is a strong word. It's
- 22:05Speaker 2: more like you kind of need to look a lot. Yeah,
- 22:08Speaker 2: you've got to have some sort of an ego to
- 22:10Speaker 2: be like, we're going to start a podcast. We're doing
- 22:12Speaker 2: it because you know, if it was a job one day,
- 22:15Speaker 2: that would be the coolest thing ever.
- 22:17Speaker 1: But also it's.
- 22:17Speaker 2: Like we think that we have conversations that are good
- 22:20Speaker 2: enough that people will listen to and take something away
- 22:22Speaker 2: from it.
- 22:22Speaker 1: I remember when we started, like we said we wanted
- 22:25Speaker 1: to make it work, but we never once said like
- 22:26Speaker 1: we want this to be a full time job work.
- 22:29Speaker 8: Mean, I'm the same and back on what you were
- 22:31Speaker 8: saying in terms of like egos, like I feel like
- 22:34Speaker 8: to be a healthy human you've got to have a
- 22:36Speaker 8: level of ego about you because there's that balance between
- 22:39Speaker 8: like being ego centric where you think you're better than
- 22:41Speaker 8: everyone else, but then at least knowing that you're capable
- 22:44Speaker 8: of doing something, knowing that you're good enough to share
- 22:47Speaker 8: the things that you believe in because same as me,
- 22:48Speaker 8: it's like I'm putting some stuff on my social media,
- 22:50Speaker 8: which is like can be polarized and it can make
- 22:52Speaker 8: it look like I'm an expert when I don't have.
- 22:54Speaker 2: Any tangible certificates or whatever it is.
- 22:57Speaker 8: But like I myself know that I'm smart enough, full
- 23:01Speaker 8: of enough knowledge, got a bit of experience, whatever that
- 23:04Speaker 8: people will want to hear what I've got to say.
- 23:06Speaker 8: So it's like you've got to have a level of
- 23:07Speaker 8: ego to start anything online. By the psych you can't
- 23:11Speaker 8: deflate it to the point where you think you're better
- 23:13Speaker 8: than you actually are.
- 23:13Speaker 1: And that's like that balance with.
- 23:15Speaker 2: I think you're right. I think you also have to
- 23:17Speaker 2: have an ego to do anything. Yeah, I like to
- 23:19Speaker 2: succeeded anything to you know, you've got to fuck let's
- 23:22Speaker 2: say you go start a company. You have to have
- 23:24Speaker 2: an ego where you believe in yourself enough to get
- 23:27Speaker 2: clients and like do it like that you're gonna make
- 23:30Speaker 2: money doing said thing. There's an ego and everything. I
- 23:32Speaker 2: guess it's just like the way we chose to do it.
- 23:36Speaker 2: I think also though, while like we resonated with Harry,
- 23:39Speaker 2: and why we're in the position we are now and
- 23:41Speaker 2: why Harry's in the position here is now.
- 23:43Speaker 1: Is because, like I said at the start, we really
- 23:46Speaker 1: try to hide a little bit of a nice message
- 23:48Speaker 1: in every single podcast. And the same thing with like
- 23:50Speaker 1: Harry's brand, Like it's so easy to just like be
- 23:54Speaker 1: consumed by consumerism and make like secreties that just like
- 23:58Speaker 1: anyone would buy. But all Harry's clothes have a really
- 24:00Speaker 1: good meaning and purpose behind them. And I don't know
- 24:03Speaker 1: if it is this merit Like when you do drops,
- 24:06Speaker 1: you of ever think like even if I don't sell out,
- 24:08Speaker 1: like I might have impacted some people. Well that's what
- 24:10Speaker 1: I try and aim for.
- 24:11Speaker 8: Like I think the drops where I've left feeling a
- 24:15Speaker 8: bit empty, of the ones where it's like I know
- 24:17Speaker 8: there was never really intention behind that.
- 24:19Speaker 1: There's no message, And there's times.
- 24:21Speaker 8: Where it's like I feel so fulfilled before the drops
- 24:25Speaker 8: even happened, because it's like I know that I've connected
- 24:27Speaker 8: with people, people have messing me whatever, But then that's
- 24:29Speaker 8: sort of what I want to central I want to
- 24:31Speaker 8: steer away from the clothing inside of the brand and
- 24:32Speaker 8: be able to centralize my brand as whole as that
- 24:35Speaker 8: and just being able to feel like I actually am
- 24:38Speaker 8: making a bit of an impact. And I think that's
- 24:39Speaker 8: where like what you're saying with you guys, just you
- 24:42Speaker 8: feel to in a nice mess in all of yous
- 24:44Speaker 8: and my brain is very like open to that type
- 24:47Speaker 8: of content, So listen to you. I sort of filtered
- 24:51Speaker 8: through the bullshit like clicking stuff like as much as
- 24:53Speaker 8: that makes me laugh, and I like it and I
- 24:55Speaker 8: watch all of it, but like my takeaway was always that,
- 24:58Speaker 8: like I always got the takeaway of like the positive
- 25:01Speaker 8: stuff because that's what I was looking for, That's what
- 25:03Speaker 8: I searched for, That's what I wanted. But then again,
- 25:05Speaker 8: it's like some people see it. Some people don't see
- 25:08Speaker 8: it as well as I may, because that's not what they're.
- 25:11Speaker 2: Here to come for. Yeah, I know some people come
- 25:13Speaker 2: for maybe they saw us on TikTok and they think
- 25:15Speaker 2: we're all entertaining and then they come on here and
- 25:18Speaker 2: you never know, like they might come on in a
- 25:19Speaker 2: Monday or a Wednesday episode and we don't do a
- 25:21Speaker 2: single entertaining thing and we just kind of have a chat,
- 25:23Speaker 2: and they're probably just like, what are these boring fuckers doing?
- 25:25Speaker 2: What the fuck are this is false advertising?
- 25:27Speaker 1: Fucking do you know?
- 25:28Speaker 3: How?
- 25:29Speaker 1: Like we're ninety percent most people listening right now are female, Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 25:32Speaker 1: And like Harry's one of.
- 25:33Speaker 2: The nine percent of the male audience we have.
- 25:37Speaker 1: How do you think, Like I think a lot of
- 25:39Speaker 1: girls listening would want their partners or men in their
- 25:43Speaker 1: life to look for those good messages or that content
- 25:48Speaker 1: where there is a bit of substance to take away from,
- 25:50Speaker 1: And like, how do you find a guy that is
- 25:53Speaker 1: Harry All at ten percent? Not putting it on a pedestal,
- 25:56Speaker 1: but like within that ten percent of like who's open
- 25:59Speaker 1: mind and willing to learn rather than the people who
- 26:02Speaker 1: are just consuming gambling and horse racing and footy podcasts
- 26:06Speaker 1: from the outside looking.
- 26:07Speaker 8: And I think the easiest way is to like look
- 26:09Speaker 8: at the type of people they spend their time with, because,
- 26:13Speaker 8: as cliches is, but the people you spend your time
- 26:15Speaker 8: with is who you sort of become. So if you're
- 26:17Speaker 8: if you're looking for a man and he's spending the
- 26:19Speaker 8: times with guys who are doing a lot of that,
- 26:20Speaker 8: but he's trying to tell you that he's not like that.
- 26:23Speaker 8: More often than not, he probably is, But in terms
- 26:26Speaker 8: of specifics, it's a cliche setting like I'm not like
- 26:28Speaker 8: other guys. Yeah, yeah, why did you start? Like I
- 26:34Speaker 8: used trying to probably like I've somewhat asked you off camera,
- 26:37Speaker 8: but not a whole lot like I used trying to
- 26:39Speaker 8: target more guys consciously, like what is you really like?
- 26:43Speaker 1: Not what what made you want to start it?
- 26:45Speaker 8: Though, because it is very much about like that positivity,
- 26:48Speaker 8: so like, oh, you have like a driving thing that
- 26:50Speaker 8: makes you want to continue to do that or is it?
- 26:52Speaker 1: The start was initially to normalize men being able to
- 26:55Speaker 1: talk about their feelings, and it shifted to more voice
- 27:00Speaker 1: and normalizing it's a simple concept treating women equally.
- 27:06Speaker 2: But I think, yeah, I reckon. What happened was like
- 27:08Speaker 2: I remember ODDI saying I wanted to start the podcast.
- 27:10Speaker 2: It was a pretty classic like bro podcast, and we
- 27:14Speaker 2: might have even been at the gym, and I I
- 27:19Speaker 2: can't say I've ever thought of starting one. A couple
- 27:22Speaker 2: of year years before we confused. Before we started that,
- 27:24Speaker 2: I actually was keen to kind of like I wanted
- 27:25Speaker 2: to make YouTube videos and I had a girlfriend at
- 27:28Speaker 2: the time that was like and I started to make
- 27:29Speaker 2: make some videos and she was like, you've changed, and
- 27:31Speaker 2: I was like, okay, I'll stop throwing stop.
- 27:34Speaker 1: It's like, yeah, I'm changing as a person. Yes, I
- 27:36Speaker 1: have grown, and.
- 27:38Speaker 2: So yeah, then I stopped. And it's just like one
- 27:39Speaker 2: of those things like I never would have done it without,
- 27:42Speaker 2: you know, doing it.
- 27:42Speaker 1: With there's a sense of security doing it with a friend.
- 27:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:45Speaker 8: Yeah, that's why I love doing it with you guys. Yeah,
- 27:48Speaker 8: beyond anything. It's like having fun security blanket you can't
- 27:52Speaker 8: lose in that sense as well.
- 27:54Speaker 1: And it's yeah, but yeah, it's funny, like I reckon
- 27:56Speaker 1: we started it off.
- 27:57Speaker 2: I remember, I just I even remember like the first
- 27:59Speaker 2: episode like we did say, like I think we spoke
- 28:02Speaker 2: about it and when Otti had the idea, he was
- 28:05Speaker 2: like he was like, you know, I think we we
- 28:08Speaker 2: actually talk about kind of real shit instead of just girls.
- 28:13Speaker 2: You know, we talk about actually something that we would
- 28:15Speaker 2: like to see in our future. You know, what are
- 28:18Speaker 2: we going to do to like when we were when
- 28:20Speaker 2: we when we traveled together. I very actually only like
- 28:23Speaker 2: a month ago, got rid of this in my notes.
- 28:25Speaker 2: By the way, we literally had like I think, if
- 28:29Speaker 2: we didn't do this audio and I, we're going to
- 28:31Speaker 2: start a company, right. The first ever one we had
- 28:33Speaker 2: in mind was we wanted to well what he did do?
- 28:36Speaker 2: He did one called Blurred Reality and it was going
- 28:38Speaker 2: to be a clothing but.
- 28:39Speaker 1: He did, but he did.
- 28:42Speaker 2: He sold you sold surf fins, surfboard thins, airport fins
- 28:45Speaker 2: actually sold it out of them.
- 28:46Speaker 1: That was a good business.
- 28:48Speaker 2: And then when Oddie and I were traveling together, we
- 28:52Speaker 2: came up with this whole plan. We wanted to open
- 28:55Speaker 2: like the sickest bar ever because at the time we
- 28:57Speaker 2: were both still drinking and we would party a bit.
- 28:59Speaker 2: We wanted to open the sickest bar ever. And we
- 29:02Speaker 2: had like we were traveling and we go to new
- 29:04Speaker 2: bars and something that we loved in that bar. We'd
- 29:07Speaker 2: write down in our notes that we wanted to add
- 29:08Speaker 2: into our bars and it was it was fucking so funny.
- 29:12Speaker 2: And then we only a month or two ago, I
- 29:15Speaker 2: saw that note and deleted it because I was cleaning
- 29:17Speaker 2: out my notes.
- 29:18Speaker 1: That yeah, I think also another like driving factor was
- 29:23Speaker 1: and I think that's why we obviously were good friends.
- 29:25Speaker 1: But I could see it in Jake as well, like
- 29:27Speaker 1: we both hadn't found our calling at all, and like
- 29:30Speaker 1: we found our calling purely by luck, just by doing
- 29:34Speaker 1: this and putting ourselves in this situation that we found
- 29:37Speaker 1: something we love. And that's also why it worked, because
- 29:39Speaker 1: I think a lot of people like sort of not
- 29:42Speaker 1: necessarily half asked. Maybe it's not the right word, but
- 29:44Speaker 1: they don't go full commit into something, whereas we literally
- 29:48Speaker 1: went like full deep as possible. I said, let's do
- 29:51Speaker 1: it for four years. And I think because there was
- 29:53Speaker 1: an underlying factor of like realness and a good meaning
- 29:57Speaker 1: behind the pod, that's why it sort of worked. We
- 29:58Speaker 1: weren't just like surface level substance boys you crack open
- 30:02Speaker 1: a beer and then talk about fucking yeah.
- 30:04Speaker 2: Like we spoke about.
- 30:06Speaker 1: I remember talking about what. I was like, well, what
- 30:08Speaker 1: will we talk about?
- 30:09Speaker 2: And I remember it was like, well, we do have
- 30:12Speaker 2: a lot of stories of going out of mates that
- 30:14Speaker 2: we will talk about, right, And we did at the start,
- 30:16Speaker 2: like episode one one, that's what we wanted. We did
- 30:19Speaker 2: want to have segments where we were like entertaining talking
- 30:22Speaker 2: about who we are and what we've done. And then
- 30:25Speaker 2: I think like it would even just be like we
- 30:27Speaker 2: would title a segment like this one is going to
- 30:29Speaker 2: be called camping with the boys, and we would.
- 30:32Speaker 1: Talk about camping experiences.
- 30:33Speaker 2: And then I think it was we might have talked
- 30:35Speaker 2: one might have been like, you know, what do you
- 30:37Speaker 2: do when your friend's got a sister that's fucking hot?
- 30:39Speaker 1: Stupid sh like that.
- 30:41Speaker 2: But then in every episode we would make sure I'm
- 30:44Speaker 2: pretty sure we would make sure we did. We called it,
- 30:48Speaker 2: We said that, okay, guys, this is going to be
- 30:49Speaker 2: a deep segment, and we would talk about something kind
- 30:51Speaker 2: of deep for a while. It's quite often ODDI bringing
- 30:53Speaker 2: it up. And then I would sometimes bring a deep
- 30:55Speaker 2: segment to the table. And then because and so yeah,
- 30:59Speaker 2: we did started. And then what we fought was like,
- 31:02Speaker 2: we'll get the guys by talking about the guy stuff,
- 31:05Speaker 2: and then we'll keep the guys by talking about the
- 31:08Speaker 2: feeling stuff. Yeah, like how we feel about things.
- 31:10Speaker 1: I get where you want to get out.
- 31:11Speaker 2: Of it both yeah, in corporate and then then yeah,
- 31:16Speaker 2: got the guys.
- 31:16Speaker 1: We never got the guys.
- 31:17Speaker 2: Ye, females started listening, and then compound it hurts my
- 31:21Speaker 2: soul a little bit because I know, looking back, like
- 31:24Speaker 2: hindsight's a bitch, and it's definitely we needed to do
- 31:26Speaker 2: all that.
- 31:27Speaker 1: That was our journey. But people still start on episode
- 31:29Speaker 1: one and I know the exact fucking story I told,
- 31:33Speaker 1: and it's like so cringe of me telling it, Like
- 31:36Speaker 1: I'm just such a like I think, what would have
- 31:38Speaker 1: we been twenty two twenty one and it's me going
- 31:40Speaker 1: home with a girl and I'm just like, ah, why
- 31:42Speaker 1: is that the first one? I mean, you gotta do it.
- 31:45Speaker 2: I feel like, I'm pretty sure we got a girl
- 31:47Speaker 2: on the phone that I had a one night stand with.
- 31:48Speaker 1: Yeah, And he was like, so was my man and gentleman,
- 31:52Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure.
- 31:53Speaker 4: We did that.
- 31:54Speaker 1: To be fair, that's a good question. It's a good
- 31:56Speaker 1: question to ask. Actually, she was like, I think that
- 32:02Speaker 1: also shows like character development in ourselves and gives like
- 32:06Speaker 1: hope for that men out there can find like their
- 32:11Speaker 1: people and us And I think purely by us sitting down,
- 32:14Speaker 1: I remember one of the Also the other reasons it
- 32:16Speaker 1: worked is I always said worst case in it at
- 32:19Speaker 1: the time, it was one episode a week. We get
- 32:20Speaker 1: to I get to sit down and talk to my
- 32:21Speaker 1: best friend for a week. Yeah, and we got really
- 32:23Speaker 1: good at talking. It's in a way it was a
- 32:25Speaker 1: therapy session with unqualified therapists. Yeah, and we were forced
- 32:28Speaker 1: to talk about our feelings and you'd rack the back
- 32:31Speaker 1: of your brain thinking about what was I feeling like
- 32:33Speaker 1: this week? What can I tell Jake about I'm sure
- 32:35Speaker 1: you were doing the same.
- 32:36Speaker 2: No, it's hilarious. Yeah, in hindsight, back then, I bet
- 32:41Speaker 2: you we struggled to think of content. If I have
- 32:43Speaker 2: my brain now, back then, doing one episode a week, yeah,
- 32:46Speaker 2: like I got too much content, we have to add another.
- 32:49Speaker 2: And now because we do the multiple, it's like, oh,
- 32:51Speaker 2: what are we gonna talk about?
- 32:53Speaker 8: That's like like when people say wisdom is wasted on
- 32:57Speaker 8: the old, where it's like you have all this wisdom
- 32:59Speaker 8: when you're older, but like you need it when you're young,
- 33:01Speaker 8: when all the ideas are fresh and out.
- 33:02Speaker 2: But wisdom is wasted on the old. Is the sickest
- 33:04Speaker 2: saying I've never heard.
- 33:05Speaker 1: Then the other one's youth is wasted on the young.
- 33:08Speaker 2: Flipping it both because the elderly want to be young
- 33:12Speaker 2: again because they're like I regret everything.
- 33:13Speaker 1: Yeah, but like that, it's all part of your journey.
- 33:15Speaker 8: At the end of day, like very much like the
- 33:17Speaker 8: body count conversation you're having is like you've got to
- 33:19Speaker 8: go through all this. You just thinking that, yeah, you've
- 33:21Speaker 8: got to go through this ship to become where you
- 33:22Speaker 8: are today. And it's easy to look back and like
- 33:24Speaker 8: when I brought up yesterday, I'm going to When I
- 33:26Speaker 8: was like, I'm gonna put the episode on, you said,
- 33:28Speaker 8: if you put it on, I'm leaving.
- 33:29Speaker 2: But he went to go listen to our first episode
- 33:31Speaker 2: and I was like, I'll actually go brush my teeth
- 33:32Speaker 2: and go to.
- 33:33Speaker 8: Bed, and Soldier I was like, fuck, it's actually been serious.
- 33:35Speaker 8: But it's like, you gotta go. I'm the same with
- 33:37Speaker 8: my Instagram videos. I look back at that and like
- 33:39Speaker 8: I cringe watching it. I'm like, that guy looks like
- 33:42Speaker 8: he's got a gun hell to his face. But I
- 33:44Speaker 8: know for sure in a year's time, I'll do the
- 33:45Speaker 8: exact same thing looking back on me now and likewise
- 33:48Speaker 8: for you guys, but like, you gotta go through that thing,
- 33:50Speaker 8: and I think for anything, it's like an opportunity for
- 33:52Speaker 8: you guys to be like holy fuck, like like it's
- 33:54Speaker 8: a way to look back and be proud of yourself.
- 33:57Speaker 2: Well, we have a genuine so we have a clear
- 34:01Speaker 2: archive archive of growth, yeah, or how we've changed as people,
- 34:04Speaker 2: and you have that for the rest of your life.
- 34:06Speaker 1: And I was saying that to you today.
- 34:07Speaker 8: It's like when you're filming those blogs and that and
- 34:09Speaker 8: you're putting them on Patreon, although not many people may
- 34:12Speaker 8: be seen them because it's like your top tier on Patreon,
- 34:13Speaker 8: but like that's there forever, and.
- 34:15Speaker 1: That's like a capsule. I was thinking that for our
- 34:17Speaker 1: kids ever. And your kid went to LA and your kids, Yeah, we.
- 34:20Speaker 2: Were talking about funny shit and okay, we were like
- 34:23Speaker 2: we were like talking about it. We just were like
- 34:24Speaker 2: in an air being being and he goes like, oh,
- 34:27Speaker 2: you know when we post these vlogs that we've done
- 34:28Speaker 2: something with our girlfriends and stuff. And I was thinking, yeah,
- 34:30Speaker 2: like what about if you're what if you're older and
- 34:32Speaker 2: you and you know, God forbid, you and Cassie break
- 34:34Speaker 2: up and you end up marrying someone else and you
- 34:35Speaker 2: have kids with them, and then your kids go find
- 34:37Speaker 2: your vlogs, right, and then your kid comes up to
- 34:39Speaker 2: you one day and goes, Dad, who's Cassie And you
- 34:42Speaker 2: just be like.
- 34:46Speaker 6: She's the one that got away. Let me tell you
- 34:50Speaker 6: how I met your mother. Yeah, yeah, I.
- 34:55Speaker 2: Was thinking, well, it's actually pretty funny. So it feels
- 34:58Speaker 2: like we've known each other forever.
- 34:59Speaker 1: Yeah, we haven't to me and you.
- 35:01Speaker 8: I was singing about this as well, like this morning
- 35:02Speaker 8: when I was journaling, I was singing the exact same thing.
- 35:05Speaker 8: It feels like we've known each other forever, but like
- 35:07Speaker 8: we fucking Like last time I came here, I was
- 35:09Speaker 8: here for a week, so I spent twenty four hours
- 35:11Speaker 8: staying at your house. Same again this time. It's like
- 35:13Speaker 8: there's not many friends, Like I've got a cool group
- 35:15Speaker 8: of friends who are like my best friends. I've got
- 35:17Speaker 8: three or four of them who are like will be
- 35:18Speaker 8: with me to my grave. Beyond that, there's not many
- 35:21Speaker 8: people in my whole life I've spent that much time with.
- 35:23Speaker 8: But it's like usually with your mates, you go on
- 35:25Speaker 8: like the weekends when you're pissed, or you do a
- 35:27Speaker 8: little coffee here and there, a swimmer and there. But
- 35:29Speaker 8: like it feels like that because we've had the opportunity
- 35:31Speaker 8: to like see fucking you know what I mean, all
- 35:34Speaker 8: hours of the day. Yeah, so it's really has it
- 35:37Speaker 8: has advanced quickly.
- 35:38Speaker 2: And I was thinking It's funny because the first time
- 35:40Speaker 2: you ever came right was when we had samples of
- 35:43Speaker 2: the hoodies we were about to drop. We're going to
- 35:45Speaker 2: drop them in like a month day for a night,
- 35:47Speaker 2: and you came and you stayed for one or two
- 35:49Speaker 2: nightsing was one night, yeah, And I remember like when
- 35:51Speaker 2: you were talking about coming, you said I'll get here
- 35:53Speaker 2: this day, and then you were like, I'll I'm gonna
- 35:56Speaker 2: go stay with a friend in Canberra.
- 35:58Speaker 1: I'm going to fly in from canber in the morning.
- 36:00Speaker 2: And then you like at the time, like we we
- 36:03Speaker 2: knew each other from like FaceTime calls and stuff like that,
- 36:05Speaker 2: but but we didn't like us. Three didn't like we
- 36:09Speaker 2: didn't know you didn't know us, and and we didn't
- 36:12Speaker 2: very much trans we didn't know you. It was very transactional.
- 36:15Speaker 2: I could have just been business and gone. And then
- 36:18Speaker 2: it was like I remember thinking in my head, funck
- 36:21Speaker 2: should I just offer him to offer for him to
- 36:23Speaker 2: stay here because you were going to stay somewhere in
- 36:24Speaker 2: Sydney with a friend. And I think I remember asking you, like, oh,
- 36:28Speaker 2: I have you sorted that or whatever, and like NA, no, yeah,
- 36:31Speaker 2: and I was and I was like fuck, like do
- 36:32Speaker 2: I invite this random guy.
- 36:33Speaker 1: To my house.
- 36:34Speaker 2: I fully remember it, yeah, and then like I did
- 36:37Speaker 2: obviously no regrets, but I just think it's so funny
- 36:40Speaker 2: that just like kind of was like oh do I yea.
- 36:42Speaker 2: At the time, I was like, and now I'm thinking,
- 36:44Speaker 2: like where fuck that company? I thought.
- 36:45Speaker 8: I remember the first time when I stayed here, when
- 36:47Speaker 8: we were sitting here with the double reverse Wi Hoodie samples,
- 36:50Speaker 8: and I was like, it was getting late. I knew
- 36:51Speaker 8: I had to I was planning on coming up and
- 36:53Speaker 8: going straight back down, and I was like, fuck, I reckon.
- 36:56Speaker 8: I don't know I'm gonna be able to get in
- 36:57Speaker 8: this flight tonight, Like we're getting pretty late, and.
- 36:59Speaker 1: I I come in what I was planning on doing.
- 37:01Speaker 8: But then you offer to stay if I want it,
- 37:03Speaker 8: And I was like, well that was I was always
- 37:05Speaker 8: going to do it.
- 37:05Speaker 1: But I was like, fuck as if you like offered
- 37:07Speaker 1: us Yeah, I know, I was like kind of rattled.
- 37:09Speaker 2: I just think it's so funny. Yeah, just like you
- 37:11Speaker 2: offer some random to stay and then but yeah, taking it.
- 37:14Speaker 1: Like round circle. I guess. The last like nine months
- 37:18Speaker 1: of the podcast, we like to be transparent with our journey.
- 37:22Speaker 1: We've sort of we mentioned it the other day, got
- 37:24Speaker 1: a little bit lost in, like Harry said, the transactional
- 37:27Speaker 1: side of making money on the podcast and trying to
- 37:31Speaker 1: make everybody happy, And like I said in that little
- 37:33Speaker 1: spill at the start, it is like we could have
- 37:35Speaker 1: easily just said, oh, someone, do you merch? We ticked
- 37:38Speaker 1: the box yep, that's good and sold it. And something
- 37:41Speaker 1: we're learning in real time right now is we say
- 37:44Speaker 1: it on the pod all the time is like to
- 37:45Speaker 1: trust your gut, and more recently for us is a
- 37:50Speaker 1: lot of the decisions we're making aren't necessarily the most logical.
- 37:56Speaker 1: Because this wasn't logical to say to some random guy
- 37:59Speaker 1: that's messages a message on message and caught up with
- 38:01Speaker 1: our pod, do you want to do our merch?
- 38:02Speaker 2: Yeah, and send you a few hoodies?
- 38:03Speaker 1: Yeah, Like there was no logic in that. Like the
- 38:06Speaker 1: logical thing would have been to do with the company
- 38:08Speaker 1: in Sydney. You offered us and we would have ticked
- 38:09Speaker 1: a box and.
- 38:09Speaker 2: It would have been cheap. They would have packed everything. Yeah, everything,
- 38:13Speaker 2: that's the most logical thing. We were like fuck that.
- 38:16Speaker 1: Yeah, we were with a.
- 38:16Speaker 2: Management company that was pushing us through that. They're like
- 38:18Speaker 2: they're asking us. They're asking us, what do you want
- 38:20Speaker 2: to do?
- 38:20Speaker 1: What do you want to do?
- 38:21Speaker 2: We'll do everything for you, or you have to do
- 38:22Speaker 2: is promote it.
- 38:23Speaker 1: You're like, we were like, nah, let us do it.
- 38:25Speaker 1: This was a lot more work, and I'm so grateful
- 38:27Speaker 1: it is and maybe the reward of monetary wasn't as good,
- 38:31Speaker 1: but I don't give.
- 38:32Speaker 2: A fuck about that.
- 38:33Speaker 1: You don't do it.
- 38:33Speaker 2: I don't look at this as a money thing.
- 38:35Speaker 1: Yeah, Like we're learning, especially like now, and this is
- 38:38Speaker 1: probably the first thing we done unconsciously that we trusted
- 38:41Speaker 1: our gut, and we're taking that more into our transactional
- 38:44Speaker 1: side of business with the pod, where like everything's not
- 38:47Speaker 1: about money, which is obviously simple, but it's easy to
- 38:49Speaker 1: get caught up in that world of like someone's saying
- 38:52Speaker 1: this is how much money you'll make, and then you're like, oh,
- 38:55Speaker 1: maybe I should do it, or maybe I shouldn't. It
- 38:57Speaker 1: would be nice, and then like it's just trusting that
- 38:59Speaker 1: little thing in the back of your head or in
- 39:00Speaker 1: your gut, and you're just like, I'm so grateful that
- 39:03Speaker 1: we did that. Just said you want to HOLDI just
- 39:06Speaker 1: some random bloke.
- 39:06Speaker 2: He's a question for you. Harry so it's like we
- 39:10Speaker 2: were talking a couple of weeks ago. I think about
- 39:14Speaker 2: it could have been the episode where we talked about
- 39:15Speaker 2: what's challenging you right now? And I was I remember
- 39:19Speaker 2: bringing up something on a podcast I listened to Shits
- 39:22Speaker 2: and Gigs where one of the guys said, like, they
- 39:24Speaker 2: don't really ever get deep, like they're pretty just much comedy, right,
- 39:27Speaker 2: but they kind of got deep and he was like, fuck,
- 39:29Speaker 2: we're deep right now. But one of them said, when
- 39:32Speaker 2: we first started the podcast, they're huge now. But he
- 39:35Speaker 2: was like, when we first started, we took nothing seriously right,
- 39:41Speaker 2: Like we took we like life is not that serious.
- 39:44Speaker 2: And it sounds like the most cliche saying he's like,
- 39:46Speaker 2: but when we were there, we lived by that saying,
- 39:49Speaker 2: as life's not that serious, like you know, we just
- 39:52Speaker 2: had the most fun ever. And he said the more serious,
- 39:55Speaker 2: the more successful their podcast had gotten, is the more
- 39:57Speaker 2: serious he has gotten. And then so I was thinking,
- 40:01Speaker 2: like Audie and I like kind of had to check
- 40:03Speaker 2: ourselves in a sense of like, because our podcast is
- 40:05Speaker 2: getting a bit more serious and successful, we have become
- 40:07Speaker 2: more serious, Like, well, now you know we need to
- 40:11Speaker 2: like we really need to give someone something each episode,
- 40:14Speaker 2: and so I think we put so much pressure on ourselves.
- 40:16Speaker 2: And someone wrote a really nice message Felicity Pasco. Shout
- 40:20Speaker 2: out to Flicity Pasco. She's definitely becoming an adminute the
- 40:22Speaker 2: Facebook group. She just shaves nice message saying something like, yeah,
- 40:26Speaker 2: miss of the days where you guys fucking we just
- 40:28Speaker 2: rambling about shit you loved, Like I've heard audio a
- 40:30Speaker 2: couple of times even say like, you know, let's get
- 40:32Speaker 2: on to the next topic, like this is boring, like
- 40:34Speaker 2: and even if we loved talking about it, and I
- 40:37Speaker 2: think like it just in the last nine months has
- 40:39Speaker 2: showed that we still love it and enjoy it, but
- 40:43Speaker 2: we we've unintentionally turned it into like something that we
- 40:47Speaker 2: feel like we owe. It's hard to explain, but have
- 40:49Speaker 2: you ever felt like that in the in your did
- 40:52Speaker 2: you start off thinking like this is something that's like
- 40:54Speaker 2: maybe we'll never take off, so it's just like it's
- 40:56Speaker 2: not that serious, like it's just fun, And then from
- 40:58Speaker 2: do you feel different now?
- 41:00Speaker 8: I totally get what you mean, And like I can
- 41:03Speaker 8: see from your stamp, even as a viewer, I can
- 41:05Speaker 8: see I could see that transition period. But I very
- 41:08Speaker 8: much start things and like I've so much self believed
- 41:11Speaker 8: that I know it's going to work out. But in
- 41:13Speaker 8: that sense, it's like I think for me, the way
- 41:17Speaker 8: I relate to that is I put a lot of
- 41:18Speaker 8: pressure on myself and thinking that I need results or
- 41:21Speaker 8: I need to do it like x amount of work.
- 41:25Speaker 8: So it's like where I lose this seriousness and the
- 41:28Speaker 8: fun side of it is like there's days where I
- 41:30Speaker 8: would like work ten hours, twelve hours, whatever, and I
- 41:33Speaker 8: fucking love.
- 41:33Speaker 1: It, like, don't get me wrong.
- 41:35Speaker 8: But then I'll do that constantly, constantly, constantly, And then
- 41:37Speaker 8: there's some days where I sit and reflect and I'm like,
- 41:39Speaker 8: I've got this flexibility where I'm working for myself, like
- 41:45Speaker 8: any hour that I want from home, but like, and
- 41:47Speaker 8: that's something that I dreamt of and like, earlier on
- 41:51Speaker 8: in the year, I was like doing three days with
- 41:53Speaker 8: like support work as well and the days where I.
- 41:55Speaker 1: Wasn't doing sport where I would utilize that flexibility.
- 41:58Speaker 8: But then for the last few months, I've just been
- 42:01Speaker 8: like a robot at my desk getting so much done,
- 42:03Speaker 8: working hard towards things I'm launching for next year. But
- 42:06Speaker 8: then I reflected, I'm like the thing that I craved
- 42:10Speaker 8: so much to be able to become full time on
- 42:14Speaker 8: blues and Greens was how much flexibility I was going
- 42:16Speaker 8: to get. But the more I went hard on blues
- 42:19Speaker 8: and Greens, the less flexibility I gave myself because I
- 42:21Speaker 8: wasn't willing to get up from my desk. So all
- 42:24Speaker 8: the things that I wanted to do, all the dreams
- 42:26Speaker 8: and the visions that I had of blues and Greens
- 42:28Speaker 8: going full time was me seting that fucking cafe, drinking coffee,
- 42:32Speaker 8: working by the bea same that was a vision that
- 42:38Speaker 8: I would see as myself when I was working, and
- 42:41Speaker 8: I was like, I can't wait to go full time,
- 42:43Speaker 8: lasking me so fucking good. But then the more it
- 42:45Speaker 8: got serious, the more serious I spent, and the more
- 42:48Speaker 8: things I realized, I'm not sacrificing that because I'm serious
- 42:52Speaker 8: on blues and Greens is my thing now and I
- 42:54Speaker 8: didn't actually ever, I'm not really giving myself flexibility. So
- 42:57Speaker 8: things like tracing them back to where I'm today is
- 43:00Speaker 8: like I'm here at your house for a week and
- 43:05Speaker 8: I don't know when I'm going to be here again,
- 43:07Speaker 8: and like this is like a rare opportunity for me,
- 43:09Speaker 8: and I've had a voice in the back of the
- 43:11Speaker 8: head so many times whilst I've been here telling me
- 43:14Speaker 8: to just go sit at a desk and just lock
- 43:16Speaker 8: in and do work. But then my realist mindset or
- 43:19Speaker 8: what I'm trying to tell myself is like, this is
- 43:21Speaker 8: like a rare opportunity where you've gotten the flexibility. This
- 43:24Speaker 8: is the flexibility you've craved, and like, enjoy these moments
- 43:26Speaker 8: of just like sitting on the couch watching Netflix, sitting
- 43:29Speaker 8: out talking to you in bed, doing things like sitting
- 43:32Speaker 8: in on the podcast, like making the most of these
- 43:34Speaker 8: opportunities which aren't there for me day to day. And
- 43:37Speaker 8: it's like I know when I go home on the weekend,
- 43:39Speaker 8: when I go home next week, that I can fucking
- 43:41Speaker 8: sit at my desk for hour as many fucking hours
- 43:43Speaker 8: I want. Like this is the flexibility that I craved,
- 43:45Speaker 8: and I'm trying to tell myself, like, make the most
- 43:48Speaker 8: of these moments because back to what you were saying
- 43:50Speaker 8: before about how you could have gone to the cheap
- 43:53Speaker 8: merchant and things like that, But it's like opportunities like
- 43:56Speaker 8: that are always going to be there for you and
- 43:58Speaker 8: use a very much at your startup journey, and you're
- 44:00Speaker 8: always gonna have the opportunity for quick money grab things
- 44:03Speaker 8: like that, but like the opportunity to do something that
- 44:06Speaker 8: is purely based of connection, opportunity to grow friendships. They're
- 44:09Speaker 8: like windows at just close so quickly. So I'm sure
- 44:12Speaker 8: you look back on that and like, don't regret that
- 44:14Speaker 8: as all at all as do a mine. I'm just
- 44:16Speaker 8: trying to remind myself of, like what do I want
- 44:19Speaker 8: life to be? Do I want it to be at
- 44:20Speaker 8: my desk? What I want it to be a mix
- 44:22Speaker 8: of set my future up as well as enjoining and now.
- 44:24Speaker 1: It's so hard to balance living in the present moment
- 44:27Speaker 1: and thinking about your future and the business's future, or
- 44:31Speaker 1: anyone who's studying, like thinking about the end goal rather
- 44:34Speaker 1: than thinking about what you're doing right now, and yeah,
- 44:37Speaker 1: giving yourself a break. I think that's one thing I
- 44:39Speaker 1: need to work on is everything I'm doing is cool
- 44:43Speaker 1: and good and I love the grind, but I also
- 44:44Speaker 1: also really bad at like taking a step back and
- 44:47Speaker 1: chilling and appreciating that. And like I can see, like
- 44:51Speaker 1: I'm obviously going to work on a lot, but I
- 44:52Speaker 1: just don't want to get to that position where I
- 44:53Speaker 1: forty or fifty and I've done all this cool stuff
- 44:55Speaker 1: and I'm like, where'd the time go? Yeah? I didn't
- 44:58Speaker 1: even appreciate it.
- 45:00Speaker 2: I fucking I reckon. I could talk about that for
- 45:01Speaker 2: literally a year straight, NonStop. Don't turn off the cameras
- 45:04Speaker 2: down to I reckon for a year. I can ramble
- 45:06Speaker 2: a lot about it.
- 45:07Speaker 1: I got to question, Harry for you to finish on
- 45:10Speaker 1: because you live in Western Australia, which, for anyone who
- 45:13Speaker 1: doesn't live in Australia is so far away from a
- 45:15Speaker 1: different country, so far away. If we could fly to
- 45:20Speaker 1: New Zealand quicker than a Barley quick and Yeah, if
- 45:25Speaker 1: Jake and I say were to move somewhere, would you
- 45:29Speaker 1: be more inclined? I know you've said you wanted to
- 45:31Speaker 1: get out of the Perth Western Australian bubble. Would you
- 45:35Speaker 1: be inclined to come like a groupie near us? Yeah?
- 45:39Speaker 1: Me and Jacob spoke about this.
- 45:40Speaker 8: But do you say that we've spoken about this percent?
- 45:42Speaker 8: I think I'm crying, like not crying out. I'm very
- 45:46Speaker 8: I love it, I hope, but like for a while,
- 45:50Speaker 8: I've been searching for an opportunity. I don't want to
- 45:51Speaker 8: rush moving out. I've been searching for an opportunity. I
- 45:54Speaker 8: was going to move my mate in Goldie than he
- 45:55Speaker 8: ended up moving home. But yeah, when like an opportunity comes,
- 45:59Speaker 8: I'd fucking staff at it for sure. I know that'd
- 46:01Speaker 8: be right, and I know we get the best out
- 46:03Speaker 8: of each other.
- 46:03Speaker 2: Guys, future look towards the future. Just keep listening and
- 46:07Speaker 2: you can see a relatables blues and greens something.
- 46:10Speaker 1: Overall, if you're listening, the shirts have dropped. Hopefully they've
- 46:14Speaker 1: sold out. I have sold out. They've sold out. We've
- 46:16Speaker 1: manifested that. So unfortunately, if you haven't got one now
- 46:19Speaker 1: you can't get But overall, thank you for supporting us
- 46:24Speaker 1: along this journey throughout the whole podcast, as well as
- 46:27Speaker 1: your little present before we yeah finish on this present, eh,
- 46:30Speaker 1: Harry said he's got presents for us. I got a
- 46:32Speaker 1: small and if you're not listening, I.
- 46:36Speaker 8: Mean, if you're not watching, they wrapped up in the
- 46:37Speaker 8: sock because I got here and didn't realize they were
- 46:39Speaker 8: a present, So they can probably see remember what I
- 46:42Speaker 8: think we can see the shape.
- 46:43Speaker 2: I hope it's not what I think it is. This
- 46:44Speaker 2: is Jake's one.
- 46:45Speaker 1: It looks like a mug. This sounds like a mug.
- 46:48Speaker 2: I was going to say, it looks like you think
- 46:50Speaker 2: it was what I think it was, just a little.
- 46:54Speaker 1: Jake's not a big thinker. Oh yeah, oh that I
- 47:03Speaker 1: love a relatables.
- 47:05Speaker 8: That could be saying that Jake was talking about I
- 47:07Speaker 8: want to accessorize the studio a little bit more so.
- 47:10Speaker 1: I think I could be saying that is sick. Mine says,
- 47:12Speaker 1: I love relatables with an R on the front and
- 47:14Speaker 1: it's red, and Jake.
- 47:15Speaker 2: Mine says, pickled juice consumption device. This is amazing. I've
- 47:21Speaker 2: never seen anything cooler than this.
- 47:23Speaker 1: That's sick. I'll drink my mile out of it so much.
- 47:27Speaker 1: I was thinking about audio and I was like, is
- 47:29Speaker 1: he going to get as much use out of it?
- 47:30Speaker 1: Because I'll put that here in my room like that.
- 47:33Speaker 1: That's so good. That's sick. Thank you very much. Thank you.
- 47:35Speaker 2: Hopefully you haven't worn these.
- 47:36Speaker 1: This is the corner socks.
