- 0:00Hello, Hello, Hello, Welcome back to Gateleaper's Season three. Year three.
- 0:05We recommissioned ourselves. We did it. We have that power, and
- 0:09here at Gateleaper's HQ, we are starting our year off with an absolute blinder.
- 0:15Team Captain Jason volunteered to sit in the games Master's chair for the first
- 0:22episode of the season. That's right, I will be a team captain.
- 0:26I will be a regular lowly player. Not that our players are lowly,
- 0:30They're absolutely fantastic, but I am. I am lowly when I am demoted
- 0:34to such a status. This was so much fun. Dare I say,
- 0:38one of our most chaotic episodes to date, and you already know how these
- 0:43can go, So that's quite a claim. And Jason decided that we should
- 0:47game in the world of The Last of Us, a video game series supposedly
- 0:53my favorite video game series. But I don't know if my answers reflect that.
- 0:57I just consume things and then I move on. I don't really think
- 1:00about them. That's why I'm the games Master. I like to play on
- 1:02other people's knowledge of things. And of course, The Last of Us is
- 1:06now a hit HBO series, so it felt like the perfect time to play
- 1:11a series of games and trivia challenges inside that world. Of course, the
- 1:15gate Leapers weren't here alone. No, we have two fantastic returning guest players.
- 1:22First up, Dan Felton of the Hard No Podcast, a brilliant new
- 1:26ten part podcast series all about lies, deception, the Internet age. The
- 1:32first episode is all about memes and the meanings behind them. So look,
- 1:37if you've ever seen a meme, you'll find it interesting. But if you
- 1:40just interested in the modern world around us, how it works, how it
- 1:44shapes us. Oh, Hard No is a must listen. Dan Offord to
- 1:49send me more than just the first episode in advance, but I was like,
- 1:52no, Hard No, I want to wait until this is out on
- 1:56podcast platforms so I can listen weekly like everyone else. Because I already can't
- 2:00wait for the next episode. I'm going to have to I'm going to have
- 2:02to wait a week. So yes, there is a link to the first
- 2:06episode in the description of this episode, so after you've done listening here,
- 2:10go listen to that. It's so good. It's genuinely so impressive. The
- 2:15content that can be made just from your bedroom. Essentially, it's fantastic.
- 2:20This show, Hard No. There's so much more out there. Just consume
- 2:23independent podcasts. It's just better. It's better for you. And we were
- 2:28also joined by friend of the podcast, dungeon Master Extraordinaire in the he's my
- 2:32dungeon Master and he is extraordinary new father congratulations Derek Logan, who long time
- 2:39listeners may remember from season one from the DC episode. So there we go.
- 2:45Derek's back. He was brilliant as always, And I suppose I should
- 2:49promote the Patreon because if you're hearing these words at the start of the podcast,
- 2:53that means you're probably not a patron and that's fine. Absolutely, please
- 2:57continue to listen to this show for free. I personally wouldn't have it any
- 3:00other way, but there are some bills to be paid. There is some
- 3:04upkeep to this podcast, so if you can consider supporting us on Patreon,
- 3:09it's now better than ever as starting this year, there will be video versions
- 3:15of every single game that we play, So right now over at patreon dot
- 3:20com forward slash Gate Leapers, you can find the video version of this very
- 3:23episode if that sort of thing interests you, so you can watch Jason sit
- 3:28in the hot seat and host for the first time. Very entertaining. Also,
- 3:31it's genuinely unedited and uncut, so you get those meta, awkward behind
- 3:38the scenes moments between everything. If that's the sort of thing that interests you,
- 3:42so yeah, and you get that with any tier of the Patreon,
- 3:45as well as ad free audio episodes and our monthly bonus episode Fandom Flashback,
- 3:52where myself, Jason, and Audra talk about big media releases and big pop
- 3:57culture stories from the previous month in the form of a little game show.
- 4:01Because that's what we do here at gate Leapers. So leap Frogs, that's
- 4:05what that's what Jason decided you're called. Now, if you're a fan of
- 4:09this podcast, you are a leap frog. I think that's cute, so
- 4:11let's run with it. So leap Frogs, sit back, relax, unless
- 4:15you're driving, then maybe don't relax, Stay vigilant and listen to this chaotic
- 4:20first episode of season three as we leap into the fandom of the Last of
- 4:26Us. Hello, and welcome to gate Leapers, the pop culture panel game
- 4:48where we shine a spotlight onto everyone's favorite fandoms. I am your games master
- 4:53and fungal infective Nightmare Matt Watson. Wait a minute, No, I'm not
- 4:59I'm Jason in. Returning listeners will be surprised by my voice starting off this
- 5:02week's episode. But to start season three of our show off with a bang,
- 5:05I'm hijacking match chair and giving him a taste of his own medicine.
- 5:10Yes, yes, welcome to Hell Medicine. I'm ready to taste my own
- 5:15medicine. I'm gonna drink it down like a good boy. Oh, I
- 5:17don't like this anymore. No, I don't like that you've turned it on
- 5:20me. And speaking of players, I cannot do this podcast game show alone.
- 5:25I've tried. But if you go through this zombie apocalypse, who own
- 5:28you go insane? Isn't that right? Bill? So? Yeah, I
- 5:30did a reference character yeas on his own and yeah, yeah, saying that
- 5:36if you did it without it. Yeah, I wrote that about seven minutes
- 5:41ago. Okay, oh, you're even taking my message. I've forgot I
- 5:45forgot that that was I missed that part in the script. Yeah, So
- 5:47thank you for the template. So I'll need two pairs of Joels to play
- 5:51my foil. Please welcome your team Captain's fellow gate Leapers Addre Stevenson, Hi
- 5:58and Matthew Watson. Hell, oh that's my full name that my parents use.
- 6:02I haven't written in the script. He hates when we call him Matthew.
- 6:05Yeah, yeah, that's great. So matt how's the captain chair going
- 6:09so far? It's it's fine. You know, it's not as good as
- 6:14being games Master. I'll say that right now. I'll say, yeah,
- 6:15front, so any of I might be indigent. Yeah, I was just
- 6:18about to say it's kind of like a demotion, but not really, because
- 6:21this role is also really hard. Yeah, I'm nervous. I'm as nervous
- 6:26as Ellie trying to kiss a girl, which he's done lots of times.
- 6:29But also but that's so first time. Yeah, you know, is it
- 6:32is nervous award at first. So yeah, that's that's how you feel.
- 6:34You feel like a young lesbian E three day my life. I think I
- 6:41always feel like we have a lesbian and I think that's a mantra of mine.
- 6:43Thank you, this is and this is the space to explore that I
- 6:46feel. But yeah, hold on, power Dynamics, you can't do this
- 6:48to me. I'm sorry. Sorry. Yeah, yeah, I will coward
- 6:51to your will. Yeah, I'm a lowly team captain. Yeah yeah,
- 6:54and yes I'm ready for games. Well, thank you, Thank you.
- 6:57Captains. Um, So, are you guys ready for a show about yet
- 7:00another sad, grizzled Zaddi who learns how to communicate his feelings as he adopts
- 7:05an outspoken and spunky young sidekick. It's a great genre. There's so many
- 7:10m there's a lot of them, there is. I've seen a lot of
- 7:14interviews with Pedro Pascal talking about like the comparisons of the Mandalorian and you're a
- 7:19dad here, like people would compare those two different things to It's so it's
- 7:27so fun to hear him respond and be like, I absolutely see why you
- 7:31would make those comparisons, but no, the Last of Us is just such
- 7:36a deep, rich lore and you get to really, I think in this
- 7:40when you really get to see him become human again and like, basically I
- 7:45get well, you'd say that, but you're fucking wrong. And he was
- 7:48also like, I'm hot and you get to see my face in this.
- 7:51Yeah. Nice. Speaking of which, you guys mentioned Pedro being on the
- 7:56show. What are your respective knowledges this fandom? How are you guys feeling
- 8:01about the Last of Us? I'm I'm feeling good. It's my favorite video
- 8:05game probably of all time, if we're doing that whole list thing. But
- 8:09I also don't ever remember. This is why I'm the games master, because
- 8:11I never remember things about the things i'm a fan of. Oh, that's
- 8:16great for this trivia base game exactly, exactly. Oh the shoe's on the
- 8:20other fun Welcome to hell man. Yeah, are you saying it's your favorite?
- 8:24Like that's a lot of I've probably played the Last of Us one ten
- 8:28times. Okay, that's going to be really bad when you lose. Yeah,
- 8:31I've watched you play it twice, and that's that's just the ones you
- 8:35saw. Place has like two tenths of your knowledge, But it's really like
- 8:41one point five because she didn't play it. She just watched you play it
- 8:45two out of the ten times. Do you know what that means? I
- 8:46can really pay attention to the story beats I'm not I don't have to die
- 8:52getting overrun. Yeah, that's more like twenty two percent of what matters.
- 8:58Yeah, I can really process each step and our motivations and what's happening.
- 9:05Okay, all right, so I've been honest there, but I could set
- 9:07myself up for a fall a bit more by saying, yeah, I'm gonna
- 9:11do amazing and this is going to be fantastic and I'm gonna win. You
- 9:13should so that you prop your team up better, because in order to play
- 9:18these games about the last of us, you'll each need to team up with
- 9:20your versions of Ellie, right if you're the Jewels, when you need your
- 9:24Ellie. So, Matt, who is your teammate today? I didn't write
- 9:28these parts. That's all right, I can do this on the fly.
- 9:30I'm a professional. My teammate today is a podcaster, a writer, a
- 9:37documentary maker and all round fantastic friend and fantastic collaborator. It's Dan Felton of
- 9:43The Assaulted formerly the Assaulted Goods podcast but soon to be the fell in the
- 9:48name soon to be but if the timeline he gave me is correct. Also
- 9:54the Hard No podcast, which is coming out, should be out when this
- 9:58episode releases. Oh fantastically, Yeah, I've heard the first episode. It's
- 10:03very good. Yes you were exclusive club member. You are but yes,
- 10:07Dan, Hi, thank you Dan, thanks for joining us. Returning guests,
- 10:13happy to be back. Excellent, It's it's we're happy to welcome you
- 10:16back. You were an absolute blast, respectively. Again listen to the Simpsons
- 10:20episode and Game of Thrones. Dan really killed it, especially in Game of
- 10:24Thrones. Good episodes. Yeah, but Dan, you killed in Game of
- 10:28Thrones, you killed in the Simpsons. How are you feeling about the Last
- 10:31of Us? How much do you know about it? I'm a little more
- 10:33conservative on this front because I've played. I've played a game and a half
- 10:39of it, and I watched the HBO show's first episode like four hours ago,
- 10:45so nice. That's the extent of my expertise. And I'm a little
- 10:48I'm a little rusty, so I'm feeling a little bit more, a little
- 10:52bit more in the dark on this one. I'm hiding about Game of Thrones.
- 10:56But all right, Dan, Yeah, I'd like to see my self
- 11:00too, you know. Yes, I've got a good teammate, two two
- 11:03humble boys over here. I don't like it. I want to stoke the
- 11:05flames, and it's to stoke the flames, Audra. Who's joining you today?
- 11:09I am joined by returning guest, longtime friend and dungeon master extraordinaire Derek
- 11:16Logan Ollo. That's quite the introduction. I love it and I am excited
- 11:22to be back. Uh, Derek, It's good to have you back.
- 11:26Two days two d Yeah, yea overwhelmed when there's two das. But Derek,
- 11:31it's it's really exciting to have you back. It's really exciting to have
- 11:33you back as the games Master because you beat me in DC, which is
- 11:37the only comic thing that I've lost thus far, and it was well,
- 11:41it was a well one game as well. Listen to that episode with Derek
- 11:45and it. How are you feeling about the Last of Us? You know,
- 11:48I think pretty similar to Dan. I have played both games, but
- 11:54at the same time, they're kind of so depressing and upsetting at moments,
- 12:00especially like the second game there. I think there are certain things where I
- 12:05was like, yeah, I don't think I ever want to think about that,
- 12:09So we'll see. And also, like Dan, I watched the first
- 12:13episode of the HBO series of this morning, so yeah, super super pumped
- 12:18about that. Yeah, it was a good one. We've all we've all
- 12:22watched the first episode of Game of Thrones. Watch it on HBO Max.
- 12:26Last of Us what I say, we've all watched the first episode of Game
- 12:28of Throw. I've got Game of Throw. Just watch Game of Thrones on
- 12:33HBO Max. Yeah, while you're waiting for the next episode of Last of
- 12:37Us. While you're waiting for the next episode of Last of Us, you
- 12:41don't go back watch Game of Thrones, watch The Wire, the Sopranos,
- 12:46whatever is. There's lots of stuff, a lot of bangers fat. Okay,
- 12:52Well, our teams have survived. Hey, harrowing character setup, which
- 12:54generally includes like a personal character deaf like with like a deep cut. Yeah,
- 12:58that hits like an early Game of Thrones episode. That's why I Game
- 13:01of Thrones on the mind. So now i'd like a Last of Us themed
- 13:05team name. Oh yes, these are things I'm notoriously bad at. Let's
- 13:09see you guys. Oh no, I forgot this was a format point and
- 13:13I designed the format. Okay, also forgot about this, but that's not
- 13:18surprising. Who's going first? Let's say, Matt, time to prepare.
- 13:24It's more on the fly, and I don't like you d okay, Yeah,
- 13:28sorry, you're an active revenge for all previous times he put you on
- 13:33the spot. What No, I wouldn't This is about like, I don't
- 13:39have I didn't preplan anything. I'm thinking we set ourselves up as the villains
- 13:43a little bit. Okay, So I'm maybe thinking like the mushroom guys,
- 13:50some if we can play on like Cold Decepis or something. I do like
- 13:54the fungal angle you're going for. Yeah, let's go fungus I I yeah,
- 13:58we could be the fun guys. Oh, it's a classic joke,
- 14:07reached for the easy ones, straight from your grandpa's joke, Buck. I
- 14:13do like it. Though it's a callback, it's a throwback. It's just
- 14:16vintage enough to not be chuggy. So let's go with the fun guys,
- 14:20the fun guys. I love it, Thank you, Dan. I also
- 14:22just love how much funkal conversation there was there where It's like, I don't
- 14:26know if we could play off the court acepts part of it. You know,
- 14:31you knowledge flexing your knowledge already, eh, I just remember it from
- 14:37the show that we also watched long hours ago. All right, Adre,
- 14:43Derek, you know I should have I should have thought about this beforehand.
- 14:48I was looking up, like, what are the best weapons in Last of
- 14:50Us? Um? Typically a gun? Yes, shiv shives do good okay
- 14:56work okay. I like stealth games, okay, um, but I found
- 15:01very little that was helpful to me. So um I was speaking with the
- 15:09hopes that I would come up with something like in the back of my mind,
- 15:15yeah, you know, I the first thing that popped into my head
- 15:20was also going the fungal route, something like fungus among us or some or
- 15:28are going off of yours. We could also just be the shivin bitches,
- 15:33Okay, I like this shiven bitches, yes, because we are bitches who
- 15:39shive or we shive bitches? Which one do you think I'd say? Uh?
- 15:46Why not? Boff? Why that is lovely stuff. Have fun typing
- 15:54that out in the because I'm hosting, but you still got to edit this.
- 15:58Have fun putting that on the episode now, yeah, put it with
- 16:00a Z if that makes it or stars asterisks. No, I think we'll
- 16:06find the female on the podcast said it. So I think we're right.
- 16:08I think we're okay. I just know that I is the mail. I'm
- 16:11the one who typed it on the episode list. But yeah, I said
- 16:15it. I'm with it. We don't get to revoke your feminist card yet,
- 16:21Matt. One of these days, minds questionable, but probably eighty minutes
- 16:26of this podcast lest left. We'll see exactly all right, those are great
- 16:30names. I love it. The fun guys and the shivn bitches. All
- 16:34right, everyone now comes the next point of the script. Yea a great
- 16:40segue. Let's catch everyone up on the fandom so we can all achieve passing
- 16:45knowledge. See how you guys are married? See how you guys are married?
- 16:51How could you know the last time if either of you was a camping
- 16:53trip about two years. You sleep with each other every night, there's that
- 16:57connection. Yes, that's that's actually what we do every night, is we
- 17:00just say things in times, look deeply and in there you know. Now
- 17:07you're right, you're oh god, married people. Disgusting, stupid Derek.
- 17:12It's my third time, my third time of the show. And I should
- 17:15have known to jump in on that queue right there. I'm a little like,
- 17:18but they would have been the lag and yeah, yeah, oh you
- 17:22mean passing knowledge. It's fine, will edit that in. Oh, you've
- 17:30got a monologue. Huh, you've got a whole monologue. Yeah, I've
- 17:32got a lot. I've got a couple of things here. It's at three
- 17:34five paragraphs, Yeah, something roughly there. All right, guys. So
- 17:37The Last of Us is an action adventure video game series developed by Naughty Dog,
- 17:41creators of such notable video games such as Uncharted, Crash Bandicoot, and
- 17:45Rings of Power. It's a D and D type video game. Familiar with
- 17:49Rings of Power. Yeah, look it up. It's that's all I know
- 17:52about it. Yeah, but it's just Amazon load of the Ring show absolutely
- 17:56ripped it out exactly, just another Bezos you can flounder um. The series
- 18:03features two games, one DLC, an expanded combook series apparently a live show,
- 18:07whatever that means, And as of right now, you've got the release
- 18:11of the first episode of the HBO adaptation featuring Pedro Pescal and Bella Ramsey.
- 18:15Two Game of Thrones alums Thrones on the brain again. Yeshsh it makes sense.
- 18:22It makes sense why you'd have that, Yeah in the back of your
- 18:26mind. Yeah yeah, yeah, absolutely so, thank you for that.
- 18:29We follow Joel, a smuggler who reluctantly takes on the job to smuggle Ellie,
- 18:33a young teen whose immunity to this world's specific flavor of zombie apocalypse may
- 18:37lead to humanity salvation or lead us on a journey of growth, emotional attachment,
- 18:41feelings of betrayal, like it's rough, but like you get it too,
- 18:45Like that kind of thing there's lots of killing God and then that dalc
- 18:49really got me in the fields man, like it's it's it's tough, it's
- 18:52it's a whole ride. Like I know that term is outdated, like in
- 18:56the fields or whatever. Well, wait, with millennials, we can say
- 19:00whatever we want. We're already considered out of the out of the peak hip
- 19:07time. I don't say that. Don't say that. I could still be.
- 19:11I could still be go to with the sauce. I could still dab
- 19:12in a floss, you know, keeping a hip. The head of our
- 19:21TikTok channel. Also for a warning for this episode and listeners. This this
- 19:27episode will be spoiler heavy. I just I just figure that we're going to
- 19:32talk about things or I'll probably put some things in there. So if you
- 19:34don't already spoiled on the HBO show, be warned. Google it or something.
- 19:40I don't know. Yeah, I'll come back, come back and listen
- 19:41to this episode. After the you're right, you're right, go and play
- 19:45the video games. Pause this. Yeah, go. You can do it
- 19:48on story mode if you want. The am assist is pretty helpful. If
- 19:52you want to get like through it like quick, just do that and then
- 19:56come back, put that episode in your ears, and then listen to it.
- 20:00I do love that Audra is the advocate for non gamers who game.
- 20:03Yeah, I just think that a lot of the boys around me got this
- 20:07really major leg up in the idea. Yeah, the idea that failing is
- 20:12fine. Some games you need to die several times. Boys do fail a
- 20:17lot, and we do act like it's fine. And every single time I
- 20:19fail, it's like my entire life is in question. And if I played
- 20:23video games earlier, I might not have that. Everyone should game. Back
- 20:29to you, Yeah, everyone should game. But before we get to this
- 20:32game, let's talk muses. Because today's teams won't be completing this podcast game
- 20:37show alone. No, each players brought a muse from this fandom to inspire
- 20:40their victory. Matt, what's inspiring you from the last one? Yeah,
- 20:44that was a much better segue. By the way, that was a fantastic
- 20:45segue. That was not bad game my muse. I've thought about it well
- 20:52in advents, because that's what I expect people to do. I'm joking.
- 20:57I'm my mus is Naughty Dog, like the games company that makes the last
- 21:02of us, and I'm choosing them because as a games company. I really
- 21:06like them. I know that they have the whole thing of like they've forced
- 21:10their employees to work a lot, but it's like every game studio you know,
- 21:12and all of capitalism, Like that's how they play this game. They've
- 21:17been doing it for one hundred and fifty years. They're very good at it.
- 21:18But I want to shout out Naughty Dogs specifically because I feel like as
- 21:22a studio, they have grown up with me, and so I feel inspired
- 21:26by them constantly. I remember playing Crash Bandicoot as a seven year old and
- 21:30being like, this is the best thing ever. And then I remember playing
- 21:34Jack and Daxter as a twelve year old and being like this is the best
- 21:38thing ever, and then Uncharted as a sixteen year old and that's okay,
- 21:42Well yeah, yeah, the second one was better. Actually, yeah,
- 21:45that's a fair point. They make him a more well rounded character by the
- 21:49second one. Yeah. And then just at a point where I was like,
- 21:52I hadn't played video games for about a year year and a half,
- 21:56Last of Us came out, got a PS four, played Last of Us.
- 22:00I was like, Naughty Dog has got me back here, and I
- 22:06haven't stopped gaming for a decade now. So yeah, I think just as
- 22:10a studio, I like that they've grown up with me. They've not done
- 22:12like the Disney thing of all right, we're done with that generation, Let's
- 22:15feed on some more children. I sort of expect Naughty Dog to be maybe
- 22:21the first studio to win like an Oscar eventually of like an adaptation of an
- 22:26I feel like they'll make the first video game that's also a cure for dementia.
- 22:30Like, they just seem like that studio that's going to constantly age and
- 22:33grow as I do. So therefore, I'm inspired by them because they played
- 22:37directly to me, and I'm an egotist. Fantastic, that's what amused is.
- 22:42Man, that's great. Yeah, Naughty Dog is going to partner with
- 22:45someone that's going to make the first controller for when I have arthritis. Yeah,
- 22:49exactly, you're going to be the first people to make that, Yeah,
- 22:53crunch bandicoot because his bones are just going all the time. That's good
- 22:59stuff. Man, Well, that's that's a great mus I do like that.
- 23:02Naughty Dog is a great muse. Now, Dan, what's going to
- 23:04be inspiring you today? What's your muse? Well, I I only came
- 23:08up with this minute before the show started, showing my level of copation.
- 23:11But my musing to be it's going to be an item that is both incredibly
- 23:17useful in the game and also in real life. My muse is duct tape
- 23:22because no matter what problem you're in, it is it is the solution for
- 23:26so many problems, and it's an essential piece of all the crap you have
- 23:30to make on the fly. To agree with you that on Dan like one
- 23:34one application where it's not the best, you're r out of toilet paper and
- 23:40in which does fly P're not brave enough, I think all right? Jabbing
- 23:47at the games Master early on, curious about the game mechanic in question where
- 23:51you had to wipe your ass. We told you, you know it's a
- 23:56dark story, right, that's part of your character backstory, got it?
- 24:03Loss of a child on the slow, removal of as Slow Go Slow is
- 24:10gonna make it way against the gun. Not this is the first time I
- 24:15thought about wiping my eyes with duct tanks. You haven't been in my brain,
- 24:19boy. You're welcome, okay, Terry, Please bring us out of
- 24:23this sloop and tell us what's inspiring you. Hopefully it's not ass air um
- 24:30so I know it's kind of an overdone trope, but for me, I
- 24:33think my muse is the badass daddy with the adorable slash badass adoptive daughter trope.
- 24:45Speaking from a father's perspective, Is that is that where that's coming from?
- 24:48Maybe, and you may be able to hear my daughter in the background,
- 24:52I'm sorry she's having me that she is pissed about it. It adds
- 24:56to it all. It's like, yeah, you father, you cannect Joel
- 25:00more than any of us can. Yeah, And it's just a trope that's
- 25:04always gotten me, whether it's you know, Gerald of Rivia or the Mandalorian
- 25:11obviously, or if you're a Marvel Comics fan, cable and hope like that.
- 25:15That trope has always gotten me. And maybe now that I'm a dad,
- 25:18it's kind of like, yeah, I'm a big softy dad. But
- 25:21in my head, I would like to think that I could be that if
- 25:26ship went down, you would protect her with violence if needs be. Yeah,
- 25:33but only if it went down, yeah, yeah, only if the
- 25:37apocalypse happened. Yeah yeah. If I like Derek outing himself, just initially,
- 25:45just like I like these dads, I want to be these dads.
- 25:47But I know how to communicate. Yea, I have emotional intelligence. Thus
- 25:51there is no story. I would just yeah, which makes for a great
- 25:57person but a boring prote Yeah about it. And last, but not least,
- 26:04Audra, what's inspiring you today? I'm sure you've thought a lot about
- 26:07it. I have, well, I've thought a moderate amount about it.
- 26:12Um. I'm inspired by ophio cortesceps unilateralists. Okay, science, yes,
- 26:21um, I put my emphasis in weird places on that. But that's the
- 26:26Corteceps virus in ants ah, the one that they talked about. Yes,
- 26:32and so I'm a microbiologist. The idea of fungus like mushrooms talk to each
- 26:37other. Shit's wild. There are so many. They're so closely related that
- 26:44like, oops, this one is indistinguishable from this one. But this one
- 26:48will kill you, and this one is basically harmless. There's mushrooms that are
- 26:52at the base of trees, and if that tree requires certain nutrients, it
- 26:57will become toxic so that an animal will eat it, die and feed the
- 27:02tree that it's feeding off of. Oh, like wow, that's gray.
- 27:07Fungus is insane. Yeah, And for me, I'm not super into zombie
- 27:12things. But when I heard, oh shit, this is cortesceps, like
- 27:18I had a familiarity with that infect We saw it in the first part of
- 27:22the episode. They explain it, which warmed my heart, infects the brain
- 27:29of an ant. Basically, it's more complex. Mind controls it into doing
- 27:34the propagation of this fungus, and then it's typically only found in tropical climates.
- 27:41But if the world were to get warmer, who's to say it couldn't
- 27:45mutate. Here's here's a I'll keep this brief, but here's a here's an
- 27:48interesting discussion point. Do you think it's feasible that this mushroom virus could infect
- 27:55us? Yes, let's move on. Is why you mushrooms this particular one,
- 28:00Probably not, But I mean virus like fungus, viruses, any type
- 28:04of bacteria. I mean, we saw COVID. This shit happens. Deep,
- 28:10I'm starting to feel like the talk show host, the uncomfortable talk show
- 28:15host from that first You're like, gulp, you're telling it happened. You're
- 28:19like, you're very much, but we're all remembering. The older began this
- 28:22segment by saying, I'm a microbiologist, so We're like, oh shit,
- 28:26this is real, but I like, things have been doing this for so
- 28:33long and humans have only been around for so like for certain part of humanity.
- 28:38We y, god, it's fine, but humans are going to be
- 28:47the ones that kill humans. It's not going to be anything. It's not
- 28:49gonna be much. Thank you very much. Humans are gonna thank you for
- 28:55growning us and bringing us back from spare. Yeah. Such a relief that
- 28:59we will be our own gym. Yeah yeah, absolutely. Jeez. All
- 29:06right, teams, sorry, should we should be started with me? I
- 29:11think that's all right. Got in the other way, And there's some bright
- 29:14sides to the zombie apocalypse, like putting a little tiny cowboy hat on this
- 29:18massive around one. Yes, yes, yeah, you like that in the
- 29:30game. It's funny because it's juxtaphysician. It's a little tiny hat, big
- 29:34dinosaur. And that's what I just did there. I'm not bad at this
- 29:37anyways. Around one it's called so quotable. The Last of Us is full
- 29:42of memorable and deep quotes that question morality and tug at the heartstrings. Yes,
- 29:48as we play through the world dialogue heavy game, Dialogue Heavy Game,
- 29:52some pretty good quotes out there. I think one of the most quotable games
- 29:55potentially of this generation. I'll say that, yes, be safe. Yeah,
- 30:00so I did that for the trivia round. It is really easy.
- 30:02Okay, Yeah, so it's it's it's it's pretty it's pretty simple. I've
- 30:04got two quotes or I've got some quotes here, not just too. Yeah.
- 30:08Yeah, there's there's one question which quote you answer it wins? Uh
- 30:14No, I've got some quotes there by either Joel or Ellie. Okay.
- 30:18I will go to each team with the quote, and then you just tell
- 30:22me if you think it's Joel or Ellie. Okay, one point, pretty
- 30:25easy, right, Yeah, I can do that, all right. I'm
- 30:27gonna start off with Audra. Yeah, and I've been starting off with Matt
- 30:32a little bit, so let's start off with not Audre, but but the
- 30:34shivn Bitches. Sorry, Derek you're here too, we are Yeah, all
- 30:40right, the shivn Bitches. Your first quote is swear to me, swear
- 30:45to me that everything you said about the fly fries is true. Oh that's
- 30:48gotta be gotta be Ellie. Yeah, that's gotta be Ellie. You guys
- 30:53locking that in because I think she's talking about that they already had some Boddy
- 30:57spoilers somebody else who was immune. Are you sure though? Are you sure?
- 31:03I am doubly sure, because you're trying to get me to change my
- 31:07answer. Locking it in, locking in in, Well, that's a good
- 31:08lock in because it is, in fact, Ellie easy, easy softball for
- 31:12the first one. You gotta start him off like that. Yeah, yeah,
- 31:15so we get a softball, Dan, Yeah, yeah, I think
- 31:19I think the fun guys will get this. I think the fun guys will
- 31:22get this. Your quote is I guess, no matter how hard you can't
- 31:26escape your past. Oh, I guess, no matter how hard you can't,
- 31:33I'm thinking, Joel, because like Ellie's a kid, you know.
- 31:36Yeah, like a whole lot of past going on there. We've all had
- 31:40passed Dan, you know, is it really about how your pastors? Yeah,
- 31:47in this world, I'm thinking I'm thinking more past. I'm thinking more
- 31:51elder statesman past. He's the one with the things in his past that affect
- 31:56him throughout the narrative. So yeah, I'm happy, happy to go with
- 31:57Den's answer that Okay, yeah, let's go try Joel. That's a good
- 32:02that's a good guess because it is right, Thank goodness, excellent good stuff.
- 32:10One on one. Yeah, it's easy being a player. Are you
- 32:15always stressed about so far? You're you're also throwing some shade at me.
- 32:22I'm stressed. Yeah. I didn't know what kind of player i'd be,
- 32:27whether i'd want to antagonize the opposing team. But Derek, Derek is my
- 32:30dungeon master, so I can feel that wrath on a weekly basis. You
- 32:35know that's all right, Derek. You're not You're not a vengeful person,
- 32:38aren't you. I mean, we've got a session tomorrow night. It's fresh,
- 32:45all right, Derek. Let's see how you guys do hear shiving bitches?
- 32:50After all, we've been through everything I've done. It can't be for
- 32:52nothing. Oh so vague distinct. I know this quote, do you?
- 33:00But I can't remember who says it. Oh no, my heart says Ellie.
- 33:06What does your heart say, Derek? Like, honestly, I was
- 33:09like sixty forty Joel. But if your gut is saying Ellie, what's your
- 33:16gut feeling sent thirty eighty twenty, it's probably sixty forty, we're back at
- 33:25fifty fifty. God o, Sorry, can you repeat the quote, yeah,
- 33:31absolutely, After all, we've been through. Everything I've done. Can't
- 33:36be for nothing? What have I said? In a Texan accent? But
- 33:38I done? Yeah, he's done, Audre. Do you think it's Ellie
- 33:45talking about what she's done in the second game? Is that what it's talking
- 33:52about may happen? I could feel the second game she's got so much fucking
- 33:59pass. Yeah, I if let's go with Ellie and if it's wrong,
- 34:05there Derek's fault. Is that what you're saying. No, if it's wrong,
- 34:07it's my fault because that's what I went. What my sixty forty was
- 34:10my Yeah, my my gut switched to Ellie. Now, yeah, okay,
- 34:15I'm feeling that I'm feeling. But if it's still wrong, it's still
- 34:19my fault. Let's lock in Ellie. Locking in Ellie? Okay, lots
- 34:23of debate. Sixty forty years, sixty forty there, fifty there's a math
- 34:28heavy episode, and the math is on your side because it is, in
- 34:30fact Ellie, it is from the second game. Yeah, look at that?
- 34:36Good? Look at that? All right, So let's see if the
- 34:40fun guys can follow this. This streak so far, it's like a penalty
- 34:44shootout it's round one. Why am I fist pumping? Should I do all?
- 34:52Should I do all? Voices in like a Texan accent? It throw
- 34:54you guys off. I mean, your game's monster. You can do what
- 34:57you want. Let's see what my Texan accent sounds. One in a Texan
- 35:00accent, just for my enjoyment. Yeah, to the edge of the universe
- 35:05and back endure and survive, to the edge of the universe and back dur
- 35:09and survive. I don't want you, Dan, but I don't think Joel
- 35:14would ever say any of the Firefly things because he did it with a Texan
- 35:17accent. I did it. Yeah, it's a little it's a little profound
- 35:22for him. Yeah, I'm Joel a dumb guy. He doesn't strike me
- 35:25as a universe kind of guy. Yeah. I think he's more pragmatic.
- 35:31He's practically does things. Yeah. Um, so I'm thinking Ellie, I'm
- 35:37thinking I'm with you. I'm thinking Ellie as well. All right, all
- 35:40right, I'm getting with Ellie. All right, you guys go with Ellie.
- 35:43So the funny thing about that is, you guys gotta right. Yes,
- 35:46it's not a Firefly quote. Oh it's not. It's from her favorite
- 35:50comic book series. That's right, and in which case, if people really
- 35:52want to get semantic, I believe Joel has repeated it once. However,
- 35:55it is attributed to Ellie. Okay, yeah, okay, yeah, because
- 36:00Joel is like being a dad trying to connect with her on her alrty bush.
- 36:04Yeah, I'm gonna comic. Yeah it's a comic. Yeah, I'm
- 36:07probably gonna ignore this. Lats Mac that she's reading. Its gaitar is awful.
- 36:16I just don't really need care you care. But also it's off like
- 36:22it's bad. Yeah. What's the Asian guy's name, Randall or something like
- 36:25that. I don't think it's Randall Remis. I don't know. I think
- 36:29it's Remis, but it doesn't gode well. But I can't remember it,
- 36:31so I hope there's no question Asian guy. I can't remember it either,
- 36:34and I really connected with that guy. So that's all right, all right,
- 36:38shiving bitches. Next one for you guys. If somehow the Lord gave
- 36:44me a second chance out that moment, I would do it all over again.
- 36:47Oh, that's that's Joel. It's like because it's Joel talking about the
- 36:54end of the first game, right, that's what I think too. Yeah,
- 37:00that what you guys are locking in. I think it's for sure Joel
- 37:04talking about how he would still go back and save Ellie. That's what I
- 37:08think. All right, what you guys think is correct. It's a good
- 37:13think. It is Alie or Joel only two characters. All right, now
- 37:25the fun guys, before, yes, before I lose my mind? What
- 37:30did the Mermaid where to her math class in Algaebra? Oh that's a joke.
- 37:36Okay, that's a joke. I think I know this one. Dan.
- 37:39Yeah, again, I'm playing the character unless you've got in, unless
- 37:44you've got inside information. He doesn't strike me as a joking type. No,
- 37:49no, this is this is Ellie's thing. And I mentioned playing this
- 37:52game ten times. The main reason was to get all of the trophies,
- 37:58and there was one way. It's like, you have to make sure you
- 38:00stop and listen to all of Ellie's jokes at various points throughout the game.
- 38:05And I did two full playthroughs where I missed one each time. You don't
- 38:08think he would do a dad joke. He is a dad. I think
- 38:12he has a dad joke. Again, it's the same with the comic.
- 38:14He engages, but I don't think he's ever the one reading the jokes.
- 38:19So yeah, I'm gonna say I agree, I agree. I think it's
- 38:22an Ellie cloke. Okay, hey, that getting that trophy paid off because
- 38:25it is, in fact ellis good job. Good to know I didn't waste
- 38:30thirty hours never on this. On this there's always other chances, you know.
- 38:37Yeah, I'll find you waste to waste them. Yeah, like this
- 38:40game because your next question, shiving bitches, is when o'clock is hungry,
- 38:46it goes back for seconds. It's like it's four, Like it goes back
- 38:52for seconds, but also for the number four because it's a clock. It
- 38:55was seconds or time, but also seconds the meal in which you get the
- 39:00second portion of them. I don't. I don't know if I understand the
- 39:06joke. Can you explain it? Yea, when o' clock is hungry,
- 39:10which is hilarious in itself, because so, what are your thoughts on this
- 39:16one? My instinct is to go with Ellie again? Yeah, so dad
- 39:22jokes in a row. Here's here's the thing, though, there's one moment
- 39:28in the second game, if I remember right, we're like Ellie is pissed
- 39:30at Joel because he didn't tell her the truth and he didn't tell her the
- 39:38joke. Yeah, he was like trying to get back on her good side
- 39:45or something, and and he he did one of the jokes. But I
- 39:50don't know if that was the joke or not. So what do we want
- 39:52to is that something Jason would do. I know that there was a joke
- 39:57that Joel may or may not have said. I leaned towards Ellie because Ellie
- 40:02told most of the jokes. But I do know Joel told one joke.
- 40:06I just can't remember what it was. I hope you mete it. This
- 40:09one my monologue that I did time. So the previous question didn't really help.
- 40:15That's added more confusions, Yeah, which which honestly makes this so much
- 40:21harder. Do we want to risk it on it being Joel? Do you
- 40:28want to risk it? You know the shivin bitches are risky bitches. Yeah,
- 40:32I say yes, Joel, it is not Joel, It is in
- 40:38fact Ellie. Dude, you double bluffed us, bluffed us whichever many times.
- 40:46There's not a lot going on up here. I'm very bad at poker,
- 40:50which ordered that went now, he just bluffed us. I am excited
- 41:00for this last question of round one, okay, because there have been some
- 41:04compelling arguments on either side, But the fun guys have one last quote.
- 41:08Okay, what's the downside to eating a clock? It's time consuming? Right,
- 41:15So you've put another joke in there, Yes, I have, And
- 41:17so that would imply that unless you've played the worst hand of poker rector,
- 41:22which you've You've just said and it's all three Ellie, this would be the
- 41:25Joel joke. Right, That's That's what I'm thinking too. But after that
- 41:29last display, now I'm not so sure this could go. This could go
- 41:35either way. Hold on, wait, Jason, could you could you possibly
- 41:37tell me the joke again but then explain it with an additional four sentences.
- 41:39I don't feel like, oh yeah, yeah, Now this one. I
- 41:44don't know about the nuance of this one is kind of hunger is really kind
- 41:49of goes back in apocalypse world. There's an irony to that because you might
- 41:53eat a clock, you know. And the extra irony is that we've branded
- 41:58ourselves as the fun guy, criticized your your joke reading, we encourage the
- 42:05fun I'm in agreement. I feel like I feel like maybe this was the
- 42:12joke Derek was talking about, I think we've got to and if it's because
- 42:15if it's not, would she make would she not only make all three of
- 42:19these jokes, but would she make two clock jokes? Is her material that
- 42:22redundant? I will say if thee gets redundant. There's a book, the
- 42:27book that Riley gives her that she reads off in the Last of Us one
- 42:31is referred to as no pun intended. It takes two I think t o
- 42:36O, which honestly, that's our take two. That's what it is,
- 42:40which is a terrible pun because it's it's just based on the many different versions
- 42:45of two in the English language. Is bad. Yeah, but that is
- 42:47the joke book, and the Last of Us wiki has every single joke in
- 42:51it. He's trying to throw us off. This is definitely the Joel joke.
- 42:53I think I think I'm with you. Yeah, I think I don't
- 42:57think I really am gonna put the pressure on Jayson. He put three consecutive
- 43:00Eli jokes as Yeah, I was hoping that someone would remember the Joel joke
- 43:07and remember that it is time related and double bluff them in that way.
- 43:10But so, yeah, you guys get that point. Right there. That
- 43:16is the Joel joke. Yes, so Derek was on the right track.
- 43:21Oh no, I wouldn't have. I would not have guessed, Joel.
- 43:22If Derek had not said, I shouldn't have explained it. I'm gonna say,
- 43:30Joel, no reasons in your mind, Nothing good ever happens from educating
- 43:36people with more information. I don't know. I think I think my reading
- 43:40of the questions was really informed, and I think it made people laugh more,
- 43:44you know, yeah, yeah, yeah, everyone who descends the jokes,
- 43:46yeah yeah. Knowledge is half the power, guys. So with that
- 43:51exciting round one, my first round one, which was nice. It was
- 43:53pretty good. You always remember your first time. Yeah, that's the end
- 43:58of round one. And hold on, guys, wait, hold on?
- 44:01Is that a majestic herd of giraffes passing by, juxtaposing against the dilapidated ruins
- 44:07of the apocalyptic concrete jungles, showing that life life always finds a way.
- 44:14No, bitch, it's the squares. So far, the fun guys are
- 44:17up by one, four to three. Very exciting start. That's only round
- 44:22one, though, So now it's time for the upcoming improv round. Matt
- 44:25so gracefully I'll put that in the template, you know. Okay. Yeah,
- 44:30So is it gonna be like that Guitar Mini game and Last of Us
- 44:32two where we get some elliot hits? Oh? Yes, Oh, look
- 44:37at that that YouTube compilation of someone playing a good or are we just going
- 44:39to fuck around with the buttons and break our controller? Yeah, and just
- 44:42make incoherent noise robs. Yeah, it's probably gonna be that. Round two
- 44:52is called Papa tell Me a Story. I really blanked and I thought this
- 45:01was funny. Right now, Papa tell Me a story. Yeah, And
- 45:05if you ever decide to use this game again, Matt, you have to
- 45:07call it Papa tell Me a Story and say it like, Okay, Papa
- 45:12tell me a story. Okay. Well, look, if it's a good
- 45:14game, yeah I will. I think it might be, you know.
- 45:16So here's here's how Papa tell Me a Story works. Both teams will have
- 45:21to pick three words out of a collective word bank and then give me an
- 45:25elevator pitch on a new last phase, game, comic book, movie,
- 45:30film, agitation, whatever it is, right, okay, and you guys
- 45:34will choose each word playground style, so you take turns. One team gets
- 45:38up word you other team gets another word, and you got to build it
- 45:42with those three words. Okay. I might be legate, I might allow
- 45:45variations, but you gotta use those three words. If you don't use those
- 45:49three words, de duct a point for every word you don't use. I'm
- 45:52just adding that now and make it spicy. All right. So the first
- 45:57word bank is I'm gonna say collectively for everyone, and then we'll go for
- 46:00a team to pick which words you want out of that word bank. The
- 46:04first word bank is ellie, infected, continuation, cheese, cheese, bit
- 46:16and butts. Okay. The first team that will go is, oh,
- 46:22we'll give it to the fun guys since they won the last round. Is
- 46:25there a word from those you'd like the most? Then I think I'm enjoying
- 46:31the idea of including the word cheese. Yeah, let's go for chaos cheese.
- 46:37We're choosing cheese, all right. So you guys got cheese, shivn
- 46:40bitches. Which of the rest of the five words would you like to choose?
- 46:45Do you have a preference? I am pretty open. I would like
- 46:49to go for one of the easy words, like ellie, all right,
- 46:53Ellie for the shivn bitches? All right? Play it. I'm not gonna
- 46:58say the word coward. Yeah, guy, your next word tactics? Okay,
- 47:07what the full woods? Infected? Continuation, bit and butts. I
- 47:14mean we could choose ultimate chaos and say butts. Should we go back to
- 47:20playing it's safe and get something? Get infected? Yett? We need we
- 47:24need a plot point affected cheese? All right, shiving bitches, You guys
- 47:30have continuation? Bit and butts? Should we should we just do? But
- 47:36let's do butts. You know I've been impacted by being called a coward and
- 47:40I'm all right, Fun guys, continuation or bit. I think with cheese,
- 47:47we're gonna need bit, aren't we. Yeah? Yeah, I'm with
- 47:50you. Cheese. We formed, We've formed a narrative. Yeah, definitely.
- 47:57Shiving bitches, get continuation? All right? So those are your three
- 48:01words. Teams, go ahead and pitch me starting with the fun guys.
- 48:07Since you guys chose first, you have to go first. Okay, please
- 48:14myself and Dan we are the fun guys, and we are here to pitch
- 48:16a new Last of US DLC for the Last of US two that is set
- 48:23before the Last of US two, just like the DLC for the first one.
- 48:27Okay, and it's going to be interactions between Ellie Dina and the guy
- 48:31whose name we forgot, Jesse. It is Jesse, Ellie Dina and Jesse,
- 48:39and I think they're going to have stumbled upon a stash of a freezer
- 48:45from a farmer's market of perfectly preserved but cheese can get molled on it,
- 48:51right, Yeah, she's, she's and they're going to have themselves a fancy
- 48:57because they're trying to live like proper young adults now they're in their early twenties.
- 49:00They are going to have a fancy wine and cheese night in the apocalypse
- 49:05riveting well, you know, it's it's the narrative stuff because while they're having
- 49:09their bits and the cheese, I think we all I think we all know
- 49:15a group of infectives. After you know, there's some, there's some,
- 49:19there's some hotfelt moments between the three of them, the love triangle starts to
- 49:22emerge, and then some infective infected burst through this right refrigerator, right right.
- 49:30So the premise of this DLC, which we're calling we're calling the Last
- 49:34Last of Us two Fromage An, it's all character driven in the first half
- 49:39at this wine and cheese party, where you know, lots of bits of
- 49:44cheese. But as the infected show up, it turns into a classic fortress
- 49:46survival fending off waves of infected with the various instruments. A lot of cheese
- 49:52knives, you know, a lot of wine models. It's pretty much a
- 49:58lot of improvising fins with the items that you have around you, of course,
- 50:01also including duct tape. Plenty of duct tape. I store all my
- 50:07cheese with my duct tape. Don't ask. One day you'll find out.
- 50:10But that is the whole premise of it, is that you have to hold
- 50:14out for as long as you can, well also forging bonds that will last
- 50:19possibly short lifetime. Yes, yeah, all right, okay, I like
- 50:22it. You use of all three. I'm gonna I'm gonna save scores until
- 50:28I hear the shiven bitches pitch adam a possible five. So shivn bitches,
- 50:31you guys have again. Ellie butts and continuation, please with your pitch.
- 50:37I'm going to say this is a continuation of Ellie's story from the end of
- 50:43Last of Us two. Where does she go? What is she doing?
- 50:47Is she dreaming about Dina's but maybe it? Maybe? Um but we do
- 50:54know, I don't remember what we doature. So and while she's draping about
- 51:04Venus, but she starts to come up with an idea. Okay, so
- 51:10she looks back and revenge. It's it's old. It's tired, all the
- 51:16death, all the killing, she's so sick of it. But she's still
- 51:22oh, she's still not on great terms with Abby, right, so,
- 51:25even though she's thinking about Venus, but she can't get Abby out of her
- 51:31head. But hey, she doesn't want to kill Abby. She maybe just
- 51:36wants to embarrass her a little bit. So our gal Ellie goes back on
- 51:42the search for Abby, finds a camera along the way, and while she
- 51:51finds Abby, she tries to like stay quiet, stay stealthy, um,
- 51:55and she stealthily takes pictures of Abbey's but oh as an Abbey is like running
- 52:02around doing whatever. Yeah, and she dutate probably and she tries to um
- 52:13blackmail Abbey with these pictures. And this because Abby, because Abby has gained
- 52:22a lot of respect within the new community that Abby has joined. Abby has
- 52:27tons of skills and this would wildly decrease her cloud within her new community.
- 52:34Um, and so she needs if if Ellie is going to find Dina.
- 52:38She needs Abby's help. Yeah. Um, and so if she's going to
- 52:45get Abby, like, drastic measures had to be taken. If she's going
- 52:49to get Abby to leave this community for however long, to go on a
- 52:53reckless mission to attempt to find Dina. Okay, there was a a time
- 53:00limit when I placed this. I'm gonna put a time liver on there.
- 53:01You guys will just keep going happening was like and then and then Audre was
- 53:07like, oh yeah, I was doc turned into the last of us three.
- 53:15Yeah, I really enjoyed. Sorry, what were the words again?
- 53:19What were the three Woods Ellie Butts continuation, which Audre said within like the
- 53:23first ten signs I do. I am the type of person who when I
- 53:29write an essay, I do look at the grading paper. Yeah, and
- 53:32I make sure I check all the boxes for yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 53:36yeah. I really I really loved both those pitches. Now, the fun
- 53:39guys, I did like the unhinged nature of just being in a cheese fridge.
- 53:44That was That was interesting. I don't know. The tower defense was
- 53:46good. I don't know if you guys really up played the game play aspect
- 53:51of it, where Derek was like you gotta stealthily take pictures of splots.
- 53:54I know if I want to play a game where I'm taking pictures of people's
- 54:00butts in the context of the Last of Us, but it was very unhinged,
- 54:05and like I like that. Three points to the fun guys, four
- 54:07points to the shiv and bitches. That's fine, that's fine, we'll take
- 54:12We'll take three points for us. Stella. This is actually a mobile game
- 54:15with a lot of like paid play whatever, you know. Save that for
- 54:20the next pitch, because this new word bank, it's gonna be okay,
- 54:25Joel Bloodshed goaded with the sauce one that's a phrase, dab oh what you're
- 54:35doing? Existential okay? And shroom. Okay, now we're gonna start off
- 54:40with the shiv and bitches. I would pick shroom. I was gonna say
- 54:45the exact same thing. Fantastic, So shroom is chosen, taking it away
- 54:51from Matt big take, big take. It is with the fun guys.
- 54:54We want to take have an actually good idea. Yeah, okay, okay,
- 55:01okay, Well you're left with his Joel Bloodshed go to with the sauce
- 55:06dab and existential? Should we should we take Joel, should we just play?
- 55:08I think I think we should get get something safe to start. Yeah,
- 55:12okay, shivn bitches. What do you think in Andre? I could
- 55:16see you have an idea? No, the only thing I think. I
- 55:20just don't want to go to with the sauce because I don't I think I'm
- 55:22too old. I don't super fully understand the meaning. What if? What
- 55:28if we go for existential we've already got shroom that this does tie into my
- 55:35thoughts on shroom. Okay, okay, okay, existential you're working on some
- 55:38like microbiology thing over there. I can tell starting the shroom. Oh no,
- 55:44we're dan. What should we take next? I think there's one regular
- 55:49word words and then two sea? What are we What are we left with?
- 55:51Again? Go to with the sauce and dab. I think we've got
- 55:55to do bloodshed because I think to get one of these like gen Z terms
- 56:01on their so yeah, blood Chaud, I mean I'm gonna pick the one
- 56:08that's not okay, that's not very good with the sauce of you, and
- 56:16I think I use that right. I don't know enough to know if you
- 56:21did well, that sucks because that's what you're left one all right now in
- 56:25similar fashion, shivn bitches, you will start off again. Your words are
- 56:29shroom existential and dab. I was trying to google goaded with the sauces.
- 56:37I think I just made it up so with my idea that I'll start off
- 56:42with and then I'll pass it to Derek. That's how the game works.
- 56:45UM. I think before UM Joel and Ellie make it too bolder. Where
- 56:52the fireflies are? I think that they run into Little Everything's DLC in my
- 56:58mind, UM, they run into a group of people because we keep funding
- 57:01finding different groups of people. These ones are slavers, these ones are doing
- 57:04cannibalistics whatever. UM. The group I think that they run into is the
- 57:09shrooms, and they are weaponizing UM infection. They are utilizing shrooms microdosing to
- 57:20create bizarkers essentially so that they can really massively slow down the infection if they
- 57:27if they delude it with like competing fungus that also has a really strong like
- 57:34replication. Right, so they have figured out how to like slow burn a
- 57:40court a Sceps infection to have protection. This is really interesting U as Joel
- 57:47and Ellie need to pass through their territory. Derek I'm gonna give you sixty
- 57:52seconds to get just to get this going along. It's an elevator pitch.
- 57:59We are in the Empire, Joel and Ellie as they do, they're like
- 58:02scouting things out. They see there's some campfires up ahead. Um, and
- 58:07they go and they see that like the people around these campfires, they're all
- 58:13like ripped, like intense looking motherfuckers, like just just really like oh yeah,
- 58:19like it looks like a bunch of bodybuilders walking around. Um. And
- 58:23so they're a little nervous, and Ellie snaps a twig and they hear something
- 58:31in the woods and so all of these big hopped up shrim dudes come out
- 58:37there and um, and they're like charging him and everything like it's just a
- 58:44kid and sub dude. Um and uh. One ripped dudes is like fourteen,
- 58:50but he's like six fives. He dabs at him and he gets suck
- 58:53man, you want to try somebody shoes. And so they all sit around
- 58:58the campfire together, um and exist massive sixty seconds to each member to get
- 59:14all three words you can. I don't think I heard existential. I don't
- 59:16think he got existentially. After the time, Okay, after the time yeah,
- 59:22I'll give it to you just because I added that in Now I didn't
- 59:25realize how in depth you guys would get, and I now realize why Matt
- 59:30puts the time limits on us. Yeah, I was so intent on like
- 59:34explaining the mechanism by with by slow down a thing. Yeah, I didn't
- 59:37even get Do not put this into any of your considerations. But the idea
- 59:42that that would be existential, like an existential crisis for Ellie as someone who
- 59:46did fight an infection on her own, I see, do see that fighting
- 59:52being if only you could have communed Ye, if only I assumed within two
- 59:54minutes. If only, if only, if only I like the idea that
- 1:00:00the first half of your pitch was just a regular day at Ultra's wood.
- 1:00:07We can use it was a fascinating tale, is a fascinating tale. However,
- 1:00:12I will only take that too many time moving forward, Matt, I
- 1:00:15will gauge your time to sixty seconds, and then Dan sixty seconds, and
- 1:00:17then you can't give you out. I'm gonna start us off because I've been
- 1:00:22formulating a strange little narrative in my head. Okay, our DLC takes place
- 1:00:25between the first and second game Okay. Joel and Ellie come across a town
- 1:00:30that seems to be a little mysterious from far away. When they get in,
- 1:00:35they find out so it's being run by gang of vicious cannibals. Okay,
- 1:00:39So in this town there's nothing but bloodshed everywhere, bodies, meat hooks,
- 1:00:45houses lined with all sorts of body parts everywhere. It's a horrible scene.
- 1:00:50And running that whole group is a master cannibal chef and all the people
- 1:00:55worship him, and one he won leadership of the group by showing his culinary
- 1:01:02cannibal skills by turning that blood into the most delicious supplement to the meals.
- 1:01:09And they they tell him, you're the leader because when you cook, these
- 1:01:14bodies were goaded with the sauce. My man, yes, you are a
- 1:01:19leader, and we bow to your human culinary skills. Matt, you have
- 1:01:23sixty seconds to expand. What are the remaining words that we have? Nothing?
- 1:01:27You've hit all noting bring me home. Look, this DLC is gonna
- 1:01:32make millions. Obviously, I don't need to tell you anything else about the
- 1:01:36narrative of what happens. My my, my colleague, my partner in this
- 1:01:39venture. I'll just say, we're seeking ten million dollars for ten percent steak
- 1:01:45that you'll get in it. That's what they say on Chopped Interesting what I've
- 1:01:51still got hot. Yeah, it's gonna be the best video game DLC ever
- 1:01:57because it's only gonna cost it's gonna be five bucks. But there's gonna be
- 1:02:00tons of different skins where if you want, you can make Joel DApp see
- 1:02:05I'm using other people's I am I would have here, Yeah, and then
- 1:02:10yeah, and then truly you will be goaded with the sauce. Yeah,
- 1:02:15I really enjoyed that. I mean the heavy lady words in the first thirty
- 1:02:21seconds. I'm gonna have to divvy it out as fun guys with five points
- 1:02:23there and then I mean, not for nothing, shiving bitches. I'm gonna
- 1:02:27give you three right there because it was a compelling beginning. I think I
- 1:02:30would have given more points. I also storytelling was present, more sincd Maybe
- 1:02:37it's what I would say, but it was a fascinating tale for sure.
- 1:02:39Audre's backgrounds being in there just got excited. Yeah, because that's the end
- 1:02:44of round two. Oh god, it's a charger. No, that's the
- 1:02:47wrong and that's the wrong zombie. There's no charges in this game. Now
- 1:02:51there's things like, uh, there's a clicker, yep, there's bloaters,
- 1:02:57yep, there's a creeper. Yep, it goes No wait, not that,
- 1:03:00no, okay, wrong, I got it wrong again. My bad
- 1:03:02this course right now, I love your interpretation of my transitions. I'm really
- 1:03:13bad at them, but I like it. I like it this way.
- 1:03:15So as of right now, the Shiven bitches are on nine points, but
- 1:03:22the fun guys on thirteen. Oh yes, lead, God with the sauce.
- 1:03:28That's not right they have I don't know how I did that map wrong.
- 1:03:31Eleven, it's thirteen. It's only minus two. Team, we're in
- 1:03:37the lead. Still, it's fine. We're winning, Dan, thanks for
- 1:03:39that amazing pitch. The ers okay, teams, I'm clearly hungry. That's
- 1:03:46what trioms do, you man. Maybe I don't know a drunk guy.
- 1:03:53Teams, Let's go to the mall for a cute date full of dad jokes,
- 1:03:57arcade cabinet, video games and iconic photobooths. S and oh god,
- 1:04:00not again, not that ending again, it's too sad. That's okay,
- 1:04:04it's round three, but round three is exciting it's called make some noise.
- 1:04:17No, that's the game changer thing. Let's call it noise boys. No,
- 1:04:20wait, wait, wait, the sound impression game. It's a deep
- 1:04:24cut. Just fucking who's that? Pokemon? I don't care who's that?
- 1:04:28Okay, it's gonna make a sound, all right. So this is something
- 1:04:30I've invented for this. Okay, very excited about it. Basically, what
- 1:04:33this is is one of the best things about the Last of Us is the
- 1:04:38audio mixing, right, the sound design. I really wanted to play on
- 1:04:40that because we're an audio format where a podcast. So what I've done here
- 1:04:45is I will play a noise and then for one for each team. Yeah,
- 1:04:49and then you guys will guess what that noise is. I've scored this
- 1:04:53out of two Okay. Now, the interesting thing about this is some of
- 1:04:56them are pretty basic, so you get the full two points, some get
- 1:05:00a niche, and I'll give you one point if you get the overall idea.
- 1:05:02But if you really hit it out of the park, I'll give you
- 1:05:04that full time again. Okay, you know what I mean? Okay,
- 1:05:06yeah, all right, guys, so are you ready for this? I'm
- 1:05:09pretty excited. Yeah, Oh damn cool? All right, so we're gonna
- 1:05:14start off with the shivn bitches, okay, and your first noise is,
- 1:05:18but daddy is a state of mind. You know what I'm saying. I'm
- 1:05:21your daddy. I know what this is. I don't know if Derek,
- 1:05:26could you hear it? Kind of kind of, it's a little faint Okay,
- 1:05:32Audrew knows what this is. You don't have some deliberation to make.
- 1:05:39I have no idea. I fully trust my teammate. Thank you. This
- 1:05:44is an interview with Pedro Pascal talking about how he plays dad. Roles does
- 1:05:51like, how does that feel? Yeah? Because he is not a dad,
- 1:05:56right right? Right? Right? Yes, he's like, but daddy's
- 1:05:58a state of mind. Daddy's a state of my mind. Yeah, it's
- 1:06:00absolutely it's acting. Only a non dad can play a dad that's actual.
- 1:06:03Derek, would you agree as a father? All right? All right?
- 1:06:09Well you better because that gets you two full points for that accurate description.
- 1:06:13Ye, fantastic. All right, fun, guys, here will be your
- 1:06:16noise. That was the noise? Yeah, Dan, can you hear that.
- 1:06:24I'm gonna need a I'm gonna need a replay please when you find out
- 1:06:30what this is you're gonna kick yourself. I know it like it doesn't sound
- 1:06:32like I think it sounds like clicking or rattling. But it doesn't sound like
- 1:06:35the sound of a cluck. No, it's it sounds like like an item
- 1:06:38you pick, like a or like a crafting noise. Oh oh, the
- 1:06:44item thing reminded me. It's the flash I think it's the flashlight when the
- 1:06:47flashlight on the controller the PS four is it the flashlight sound? Yeah,
- 1:06:54I think it does. The flashlight is like out of juice and you have
- 1:06:58to give it a rattle. That's It's a good it's excited to keep in
- 1:07:01mind the game. But if that's what you guys are locking in, I'm
- 1:07:04not going to be able to give it to you. I'm so sorry.
- 1:07:08What it is, it's a great idea. Sure these are A lot of
- 1:07:11these are Last of Us themed, but not all of them are. What
- 1:07:14this is is in the in the Lego video games when you're building in Lego.
- 1:07:20How is it? How is this Lost of Us related? I said,
- 1:07:24A lot of them are, but some of them aren't. Some of
- 1:07:27them just how just knows how many episodes of this podcast have we done?
- 1:07:31Yeah? Just noises what some of them are just No, it's fine.
- 1:07:36No, I'm kicking. I'm happy to keep on playing the game. I'll
- 1:07:39keep on playing the game. I'm officially playing my under protests. Yeah,
- 1:07:45has to do with the question have we ever had a question? Except for
- 1:07:49the fact the quick fire around the quick fund, but even then connected it's
- 1:07:54completely based on the last one. Oh my good. That's okay, Matt,
- 1:07:59that's just what we let's just let's just that I'm going to stay performatively
- 1:08:02angry. This could be any sound in the history of humanity, so we're
- 1:08:11not just pulling from one specific thing. This could be this could be the
- 1:08:14sound of this could be the sound of Derek's newborn baby crying all the way
- 1:08:18through to nasty cars crashing. I'm not gonna lie to you. I I
- 1:08:23thought about putting my own laugh into this shame there it is. I would
- 1:08:28have got it straight away, would have been I cannot believe you've done this.
- 1:08:32The terror Like when I thought that they were just going to be last
- 1:08:35of us, tangential, I was like a little frightened. Yeah, if
- 1:08:39it's anything, If I wouldn't have just left in between rounds one and two
- 1:08:45to go pee. I would be peeing myself. That's good because you're that's
- 1:08:50that's the next sound effect you're about to hear, actually me peeing myself.
- 1:08:56That just like different noises. Guys, here's your next noise shifting bitches to
- 1:09:09make me real play that's really funny. I like that a lot. I
- 1:09:12think you're gonna need to replay it. I'm having so much fun. I
- 1:09:27have nothing for this. I think this is a monster in Spiro. I
- 1:09:33think I passed that guy on the way home today. Actually, this is
- 1:09:42my favorite thing in the whole fucking world. Yours is so funny, already
- 1:09:46delved into like episode fifteen Matts after like doing this for fifteen episodes and indulging
- 1:09:51in the chaos. Yeah, I'm not gonna be that serious. I'm not
- 1:09:57good at this. So this is what it's happening, and it's really fun
- 1:10:00for me at least. Any idea, Derek, I don't know, Maybe
- 1:10:04like a voice with some kind of like quick speed, a recorded voice that's
- 1:10:11sped up really fast or something. Uh huh, are you guys locking in
- 1:10:15anything? I mean, we'll lock that in because it's probably just as likely,
- 1:10:18if not more likely. I would agree with that. I would agree
- 1:10:21with that because it's not that I revealed to YouTube specifically. In my personal
- 1:10:27life, I got really addicted to goat noises and he goats can sound sometimes
- 1:10:31that was a goat. Yeah, isn't that crazy? That's why I'm obsessed.
- 1:10:35I love this scene in the Last of Us towards the end where Joel
- 1:10:38Anellie or at that cathotic moment. Sorry, that was when that's the rat
- 1:10:44King. Sorry to make it them back to Last of Us. That's that's
- 1:10:46racking. Okay, how about that? Okay, it's not though it's not.
- 1:10:51That's not what the raking sounds like. Do you know that I played
- 1:10:55the game, so that was a goat sound? That was But how was
- 1:11:00the goat? How is the sauce game for that Goat's how that works?
- 1:11:05Different goats, different goats. Just trying you know, yeah, yeah,
- 1:11:08ye, all right, before you play this clip this this sound is a
- 1:11:12person. There we go. That's what I'm gonna say. I'm gonna say
- 1:11:15it's a person and hope that that's good enough. Not from the Last of
- 1:11:20Us. Let's see if you get at least one point, because again I
- 1:11:23said specificity, right, here's your sound. Did you hear that? Dan?
- 1:11:30Not really, but I'm not sure it's going to make too much of
- 1:11:32a difference. Can you play it one more time? Yeah, I can't
- 1:11:36believe I'm engaging with this. This is great. I love this. That
- 1:11:42is a robot character laughing. That is the sound of a bird flying into
- 1:11:45a window from my Canada's got a wild I'm gonna keep you guys one point
- 1:11:53for that. What because it is a sound of Transformers transforming in the nineteen
- 1:11:57eighty four cartoon, which is a very iconic sound fan Sorry, Yeah,
- 1:12:01okay, a robot is enough. It was a robotic thing. I knew
- 1:12:04you'd try and get Transformers in something. Yeah, baby Gate Leapers twenty four
- 1:12:12that I'm still just so angry. That's okay, I'm livid. That's okay,
- 1:12:15because it's not your turn. We'll get back to you, shiving bitches.
- 1:12:19Here's your sound. I know this one. This is the turtle having
- 1:12:32sex having sex. That's two points. Finding out so many things about my
- 1:12:41best friend and my wife, it was like a viral video. Also,
- 1:12:45I forgot about this for listeners. When me and Audra first started becoming friends,
- 1:12:50we also found out that our YouTube searchage history is very tangentially similar.
- 1:12:57Yeah, there were some parallel live Yeah yeah, at the time, I
- 1:13:00forgot about that until now. Yeah. I love it. In Last of
- 1:13:03Us two, when there's a load of turtles and they bang and they go
- 1:13:10there we go clip that. There's a little text tone for you, not
- 1:13:14for me. I want to stay on this podcast, Matt. If you
- 1:13:20don't get the sound, I'm gonna be personally upset. Okay, so fun
- 1:13:24guys, here's your next sound. Gotta get the whole of wh Did you
- 1:13:38hear it? Dan? I got nothing. Do you know that nothing is
- 1:13:41in you heard it and you don't know or you know? I mean I
- 1:13:43heard nothing, and I'm sure I probably have nothing as well. Sorry.
- 1:13:47So it's the startup noise for either the PlayStation one or the PlayStation two.
- 1:13:54Oh if I could hear it, I could probably tell you which one it
- 1:13:57was. All right, Dan, Here it is again, Dan, I
- 1:14:13hear nothing. I didn't pick up that. I think it's the microphones are
- 1:14:16too good. I think they just I think they cut out sound that isn't
- 1:14:20voices. It's a technical marvel. No, I got nothing. Okay,
- 1:14:32I'll make it with my with my mouth. I mean that they'll be yet
- 1:14:38to hit in in post for the listeners. But uh yeah, well we
- 1:14:42can compare this game right now. Um, and then it sounds like sparkles.
- 1:14:48I'm leaning more PS two. I'm leaning more PS two. Okay,
- 1:14:54I trust you fully. Yeah, I think I'm wrong, but I'm leaning.
- 1:14:59I'm leaning PS I think for that. Yeah, you get two points
- 1:15:02right there because it is the PS two. Okay. There are three PlayStations
- 1:15:06that have the Last of Us playable on it. When you could have linked
- 1:15:09it to the hand. You could have chosen the PS three, the PS
- 1:15:14four or the PS five. Are you saying that the Last of Us wasn't
- 1:15:16on PS two? No, unless there's a prequel, I'm gonna wire.
- 1:15:19Maybe that's what it rings a power that's that was the cheese Party one was
- 1:15:23on PS two exclusively the graphics of the cheese All right, shivn bitches.
- 1:15:30I'm excited for these last two because they get very specific, not that these
- 1:15:33other lots were shiving bitches. Here's your sound. This is related to the
- 1:15:50Last of Us, Matt, you idiot after six THEO which one was the
- 1:15:59first? Yeah, Petrofascal, No, you had an idea at the start,
- 1:16:04play it for me again. Derek is not going to hear it.
- 1:16:09Count fucking hey. No. If Derek could hear this too, he'd be
- 1:16:24really good at it, which is really unfortunate. That's pretty unfortunate. This
- 1:16:30is related to okay, related to the Last of Us because it's Crash Bandicoot.
- 1:16:42It is a villain in Crash Bandicoot, which is made by Naughty Dog.
- 1:16:46Actually, or it's just crashed Dying. It's somebody dying in it's in
- 1:16:51Crash Bandicoot. That's where I'm going with And Derek, you didn't hear it
- 1:16:55at all, not one bit, I say, luck, yes, Unfortunately,
- 1:17:02I can't reward any points for that one. What it is is it's
- 1:17:05the Joker's laugh as played by Troy Baker, specifically so as Troy Yeah,
- 1:17:14as he emulates Mark Hamill's Yeah, that would have been good. If Derek
- 1:17:16could hear it, I reckon, yeah, so you would have probably gotten
- 1:17:19the least Joker's laugh. Unfortunate. I mean, had asked me, I
- 1:17:25would have told you that was definitely Troy Baker pretending to be Mark Hamill,
- 1:17:29so you could hear it, right, of course, got it? This
- 1:17:34one is gonna make Matt mad and I know that. Well that's okay,
- 1:17:39and that's okay, and that's okay. Fun guys, here's your sound.
- 1:17:46It sounded like a hug squealing at the end. It is Last of Us
- 1:17:53related. Oh, this one's actually last of Us related. This one.
- 1:17:56I told you it would be. Okay, I don't know what you're talking
- 1:17:58about. The guy who wrote the game, his cousin had a cat that
- 1:18:01made that sound, so right, Okay. I mean I'm luck almost happy
- 1:18:09to go play it one more time just because if it is last was related,
- 1:18:12okay, I mean it could be a clicker like it genuinely could be
- 1:18:18a clicker based on the sound it. The last part sounded a bit more
- 1:18:24like a squeal. I'm just here for for emotional support. Yeah, if
- 1:18:29it's a clicker, because I did specify specific specificity, Sure which clicker?
- 1:18:34Okay, So I'm saying it's definitely a cliquer and it's the first clicker they
- 1:18:39encounter in the museum type place that they're in. Is this isn't a clicker
- 1:18:45and you asked him which specific clicker it was. I will also be mad
- 1:18:51at it's to count people. Yeah, Yeah, it's one of those guys.
- 1:18:59Yeah, how many I got you. No, it's Jeffrey the clicker.
- 1:19:02It is a clicker. I'll give you one point for that. It's
- 1:19:05a clicker that appears in the cartoon TV show The Amazing World of Gumball when
- 1:19:12they reference it one time. All Right, I saw it on YouTube and
- 1:19:15I was like, yep, that's too that's too niche for Matt. So
- 1:19:17one point for the clicker. That is one point for the clicker. With
- 1:19:20this horrible round, I think it's gonna be really great to listen to it,
- 1:19:26to be like, oh, it's like on a lot of trivia games
- 1:19:30where you're like, oh my god, the answers this, it's just gonna
- 1:19:35be that. But we're pushing the envelope here on gate Leapers. Yeah,
- 1:19:40and uh, that's how we're gonna start off season three, you know what
- 1:19:43I mean, pushing the envelope. Maybe we should keep it closed. I'll
- 1:19:49be back for season four, that's all I'm gonna say. Maybe. All
- 1:19:57right, that's the end of round three. I had a transition for this,
- 1:20:00but it's not great. Okay, I'm just reading now, Derek and
- 1:20:05I wouldn't be able to hear it. That is a tough one. Man,
- 1:20:10That is a tough one. We'll have to figure that out, but
- 1:20:13so far, that's all right. Sorry. The best thing you've done in
- 1:20:15terms of being an antagonistic host here, sorry to delay the final round.
- 1:20:19The best thing you've done is created a difficult editing job for me. That's
- 1:20:26gonna be a nightmare to edit. Happy to do it, Glad you put
- 1:20:29the effort in. But that is more antagonizing than anything else. I wanted
- 1:20:34to try something new and I knew it would be tough. I'm gonna make
- 1:20:38it out for season two of the HBO show justin Tom. Yes, but
- 1:20:44Matt likes SEO too much. Guys, all right, so that's exciting because
- 1:20:50the quick fire round is going to be even worse for you. Okay,
- 1:20:57I will fight you with one. Are the skulls that's the next Oh that's
- 1:21:00the yeah. Sorry. The scores. The current scores are the fun guys
- 1:21:02are on seventeen points, shivin bitches, not too far off at fifteen points.
- 1:21:09All right. We held our lead despite everything. Okay, we've gonna
- 1:21:13we've got two points two points in it. Yeah, quick fire around,
- 1:21:17I mean, that's that that could be attained, you know, yeah,
- 1:21:21you know, it could all change and the quick fire around it could all
- 1:21:25change. And uh, as always the star part, I don't have any
- 1:21:30transitions for that. Okay about prizes, Yeah, yeah, I just want
- 1:21:32to talk about prizes. The prize is listen. It's the concept of Pride,
- 1:21:39and what I've learned about the fandom, primarily from you, Matt,
- 1:21:42is that the fandom has not reacted to Pride super well, which is absurd
- 1:21:46considering the timeline of like, uh this the DLC Left Behind that was really
- 1:21:53six years prior to the Last of US two, which is like two game
- 1:21:58cycles essentially, and then we're still in cells after the second one came out
- 1:22:01that were like she's gay, she's gay, but then Bill was gay and
- 1:22:05then it's like, oh, what is it? But also like for so
- 1:22:08much of the show she was a minor. It's like why does it matter?
- 1:22:12And just Pride, why does it matter to you? And it's just
- 1:22:15like, ah, Pride, just so thank you for for all those different
- 1:22:18little Pride characters in the Last of US I think it's nice. Yeah,
- 1:22:20do you have an idea how many hours I spent laying a bed at nights,
- 1:22:25Derek, and see like thinking about these fictional video game characters and they're
- 1:22:29yeah, right now, it's a slippery slow Thanks. Thanks for using the
- 1:22:40accents so that we could tell it's not your real opinions. Eric, Yeah,
- 1:22:44yeah, but that's the that's always the concept pride, that's always on
- 1:22:46the table. We know that. But there's a real price here. Okay,
- 1:22:49it's a voice verse nft uh. That's not a real price. I'm
- 1:22:55not even gonna go along with that bit. But a little bit of background
- 1:22:57because I I researched this, okay, and it's in fearing So Voice First
- 1:23:00NFT first. Off, U NFTs are dumb, they're dying out. But
- 1:23:04Voice First was a website that advertised specifically like voices as an nft uh,
- 1:23:13that you can sound like anyone else's quotation marked on their fucking thing. And
- 1:23:16I, Dan, you may or may not know about this, because you've
- 1:23:18done fucking ton of research on NFTs. It sounds very similar to a project.
- 1:23:21It's yeah, it sounds it sounds like something we were planning to do
- 1:23:27as a joke. But somebody decided, right, here's here's the thing,
- 1:23:30here's the thing on their white paper link, which I don't know what the
- 1:23:33fuck that means. But on their white paper link of this website, it
- 1:23:38says, are you a fifty year old man, but are into anime cultures?
- 1:23:41So you want to sound like a cute anime girl? This was on
- 1:23:45their white people link, was what you're It's just fucking odd man that it's
- 1:23:53on their website, and it's like, not only are they endorsing, but
- 1:23:57they're like encouraging and want internet catfishing. And they say it countless times that
- 1:24:02the voice is unique, but then they're like, just fucking get different person's
- 1:24:06voice. The reason that this is in here is because Troy Baker very briefly
- 1:24:12advertised himself on this. He took it off very briefly afterwards as well,
- 1:24:17And I'm not gonna chastise him too much about that. It's just a rich
- 1:24:20person thing. Yeah you will, that's fantastic, but it's just the thing
- 1:24:24that existed, and that's crazy to me. So the prize is knowing a
- 1:24:28little bit of nugget, a little nugget of information to be able to pick
- 1:24:30on Troy Baker a bit more. Wait till I see him. Oh man,
- 1:24:36you're gonna RaSE his ass. Oh yeah, yeah, it's just bad,
- 1:24:42right, it just sucks. Yeah, definitely. I remember him getting
- 1:24:45into bed with NFTs and that being a bright scandal about a year ago.
- 1:24:50M Was it so that people could sound like Troy Baker? I think so.
- 1:24:54I think that was the stick. Yeah. No, that sounds like
- 1:24:59too much eff sound like Trump. You just do a Southern accent or something
- 1:25:03like that. I don't take yourself very seriously. You don't want to make
- 1:25:05Ashley Johnson cry for art or for any reason at all. Yeah, there
- 1:25:12we go. That's brutal. Uh. Well, on that note to the
- 1:25:15quick fire round. Yeah, yeah, let's let's go ahead and just look
- 1:25:18into each other's eyes and tell each other deep, horrifying lies so that we
- 1:25:21feel better about ourselves at the end. That's what Joel does, doesn't he.
- 1:25:25Yeah, kind of great. Anyways, a quick fire round. This
- 1:25:36one's called Bottle or Brick? Nice? Are you team Bottle? Are you
- 1:25:43team Brick? That's a little meme I found from the from the Last of
- 1:25:46Us fandom, So that was cool. I was always I don't speak for
- 1:25:49anyone else, but I was always team Bottle because they make a good sound
- 1:25:53as well. Well. After my experience sitting through the last round. I'm
- 1:25:57also a team bottle dan is taking a lovely drink for a non Patreon subscribers
- 1:26:03who can not see the video right now. Yeah, you can see the
- 1:26:06video if you're on our Patreon the promo at the end. Now, it's
- 1:26:11fine. In Yeah, it was just a it's a weird little thing where
- 1:26:14you get to choose between two melee items and it doesn't really matter because I
- 1:26:16think they more or less do the same thing, right, But people get
- 1:26:18really pedantical reddit and that's really funny. Yeah, anyways, that's going to
- 1:26:24be more explanation than this game. I'm simply going to say a thing and
- 1:26:27then you two teams will just say bottle or brick. That's it. Okay,
- 1:26:32is there a correct answer? Is this an argument based thing? There
- 1:26:35is a correct answer? Okay, but I will simply just say the thing.
- 1:26:39You will simply just say bottle or brick. Is it back and forth
- 1:26:43or first to buzz in? Uh? First to buzz in. Let's stup
- 1:26:47back and forth? Okay, okay, okay, stop back and forth?
- 1:26:50Okay, No, I like you. Yeah, it's like the weakest link
- 1:26:55where it's just like your team yeah, just because if you buzz in,
- 1:26:58if someone says it's the wrong thing, then you'll just buzzing with the right
- 1:27:00exactly. Yeah, So it's a it's a it's here and there. Okay,
- 1:27:03back, all right, back, let's start off with the shivn bitches,
- 1:27:06the ones who are currently behind your first word is beer, bottle,
- 1:27:12bottle, noise buoye on brick, nice reddish brown brick, Nice, open
- 1:27:28bottle bottle, nice a glue brick, nice tapatillo bottle. Yeah, okay,
- 1:27:42yeah, we have it in our fridge. Tang orange bottle. Nice.
- 1:27:51Okay, now callous hands brick break nice lickable bottle, bottle? Are
- 1:28:05you scoring this? This is the most I love how abstract this is.
- 1:28:09This feels like a game to decide what ri IQ's. It's like pattern recognition.
- 1:28:15I love it. Keratin is a key material and nails, hands,
- 1:28:18feathers, hoofs, and horns. Is this ours? Yes? I wasn't
- 1:28:24expecting so many words. Uh, it's in nails and hooves and hands.
- 1:28:29Could it also be in bricks or should we just play it safe and say
- 1:28:31bottle. There's a safe option. I don't know what's happening. Bottle or
- 1:28:39brick or bottle not one. Oh shit, now ships at the Gnolls chemical
- 1:28:50formula is C two H six oh bottle bottle, nice and quick before the
- 1:29:01buzzer. There's no quick. Okay, there's no quick about this gate leapers
- 1:29:08probably probably bottle, right, I would assume bottle bottle. There's bottles on
- 1:29:15the table right now. Okay? Was that the quick? I forgot,
- 1:29:25say quick before the buzzer, and I was like, there's nothing quick about
- 1:29:27this fascinating mental game bottle or brick. There were genuine correct answers. There
- 1:29:36was genuine correct answers. Now most of you guys did get it. Okay.
- 1:29:40Idea that whatever word it was was generally associated with uh, the item
- 1:29:45bottle or brick. The other thing is each letter for bottle brick spelled out
- 1:29:49bottle or brick, so alo is exclusively in brick. Thus it was brick.
- 1:29:56Ck also followed that. Okay, game, It was also a word
- 1:30:01game, but that was like well hidden in there. There was a key
- 1:30:03as well at the Nala's alcohol. Yeah, that's why I want bottle.
- 1:30:09Carraton is hard, Carton is hot, so it's fantastic. So I really
- 1:30:20love this. Before we get to the final scores. I'd like to thank
- 1:30:24our players. You've all been a fantastic romantic interest whose communication style resembles that
- 1:30:29of like an abusive nineteen forties couple, but in the context of Last of
- 1:30:32Us, you're awesome. Sure, that's right, right, for sure,
- 1:30:39that's Joel and Tess, and then Riley and Ellie are better with it.
- 1:30:45They don't get enough time. They don't get enough time. But there there's
- 1:30:47just a lot of like people are always like, how are you feeling?
- 1:30:51And then one person just goes, you want to go outside today? Like
- 1:30:55they don't ever fucking respond anyways, thank you so much, and and Derek,
- 1:31:00uh, this is my first time hosting. This was kind of a
- 1:31:01mess of an episode. I loved every second of it, and thank you
- 1:31:05so much for flexing with us as well. It was a block Matt,
- 1:31:10you can you're gonna duct tape this thing together? Slowly? Oh yeah,
- 1:31:15really gonna duct tape this together. I'm gonna need you guys to send me
- 1:31:18some rolls, I think. And then Dan also we mentioned it a little
- 1:31:24bit before, but also do you want to get more in depth on the
- 1:31:26thing that you are sure? Sure? I'll plug both my podcasts. I'll
- 1:31:30do the easy one first. I am. I'm the co host of a
- 1:31:32comedy podcast called The Fucking A that's fuc k I n e h. Like
- 1:31:36US Canadians, A me and my buddy Matt. We bring a collection of
- 1:31:41stories every week and we tell each other those stories and we have a good
- 1:31:44time. So it's not it's not me, it's not this Matt. Another
- 1:31:48an alternative Matt who is who is my who is audress? Teammate on the
- 1:31:54Simpsons episode if I recall? Right, So check that one out and yeah,
- 1:31:59but this one comes out my new podcast hard no k I now is
- 1:32:03that second word, will be will be out. It's sort of a narrative
- 1:32:06docu series. Uh, it's it's pretty much an exploration of sort of like
- 1:32:11deceit and lies and scams and con men and all that. And it's sort
- 1:32:15of told through a scripted narrative style. It's time episodes along. Each one
- 1:32:18is a dive into a different sort of form of deception and all that.
- 1:32:21It's really creative, it's really different, really out there. Uh, it's
- 1:32:27a big swing at something. That's that if you tell people it's a podcast,
- 1:32:30they're going to be very confused, but I hope you'll check it out
- 1:32:32and listen to it. A great advertising yeah, yeah, yeah. If
- 1:32:35you want a podcast that's not like two white guys cracking jokes like my other
- 1:32:40one, this is the show for you, man, So check that out
- 1:32:44as well, and you can follow me on social media. I am on
- 1:32:46all the socials at Disinformed Dan, so do that, say Hi, that's
- 1:32:51beautiful man. I'm gonna sort of two whiskeys in also advocate for Hard Note
- 1:32:57and I've heard the first episode. It's absolutely fantastic. I genuinely think it
- 1:33:00is the best podcast I have heard within the indie podcasting space. Like,
- 1:33:05Dan, you're gonna listen to it, and you're gonna be like, there's
- 1:33:08a studio team behind this, right, the BBC or NPR or behind this,
- 1:33:12right. No, it is Dan and his brother and they've worked really
- 1:33:15hard and it's yeah, fantastic, Yeah, very relevant for our times and
- 1:33:19told in an interesting way. So yeah, just please listen to it.
- 1:33:23Yeah, big shout out to my brother David, who has done all the
- 1:33:26music for it and has helped me write and has done that and I owe
- 1:33:29a lot of it to him, and also to the like absurd amount of
- 1:33:32coffee I have drank over the past few months. So it's it's it's gonna
- 1:33:36be fun. It'll be a lot of fun. So hell yeah, man,
- 1:33:40thank you very much. That's super exciting. I'll have to definitely check
- 1:33:44take a listen to it. Uh, Derek, I don't know if you
- 1:33:46have anything to promote other than your your dad now is a cute baby?
- 1:33:50Yeah, I'm a dad. I have a baby, you know, to
- 1:33:57promote White Lotus is pretty good. These two have been talking about it.
- 1:34:04And if you're listening to this and you haven't played The Last of Us,
- 1:34:10if you're a true sad boy or sad girl, just play the game.
- 1:34:14Yeah, yeah, so good. Yeah. So while you're on HBO,
- 1:34:17take a look at that Game of Thrones. Maybe the Last of Us too?
- 1:34:23Who cares? Get all right, this is the part where Jason promotes
- 1:34:29Minis. Jason, where we can where can we find your own Minis?
- 1:34:33I can say that far. Thank you? No, hang on, it's
- 1:34:36I'm the person in your position you asking me what I have to promote?
- 1:34:40Um, yeah, I guess so what do you have to promote? So
- 1:34:45I host another podcast with two of my friends from back in the UK called
- 1:34:47ten xt where every week we look back at the episode of WWS n x
- 1:34:51T the ed exactly ten years ago, and also make ten year old topical
- 1:34:56jokes about the news and sports events that were happening at the time. So
- 1:35:00even if you don't like wrestling, good lulled that it's very well written.
- 1:35:03I do like the format a lot. It's very tight. Thank you.
- 1:35:06It's snappier than this. Yeah, and a huge thank you also to Ash
- 1:35:13and Adam Wood for their continued support at the highest your patroon you are executive

- 1:35:53dad, just looking for those right words and now you understand them better.
- 1:35:56Or maybe your dad because of this game, and that's good. That sound
