- 0:00Bag alert, bag alert, bag alert, bag alert, bag alert folks.
- 0:06That's right.
- 0:07Evan makes Fierce and Inks a new deal.
- 0:10Gillie goes to the Viking Steelers.
- 0:13Yes, we have to talk about the Steelers.
- 0:16Unfortunately, yes, we do.
- 0:18Steelers and Bills.
- 0:19We got to talk about that game.
- 0:20We also got to talk about the Ravens and Falcons game.
- 0:23And we got a shocking revelation that has come out.
- 0:26Tua finally speaks on the relationship in the tenure of Brian Flores when he was the
- 0:33head coach for the Miami Dolphins.
- 0:36All of this and more.
- 0:37It's going to be, I'm trying to keep this a pretty short episode, but if it does, then
- 0:42well then hey, it is what it is.
- 0:44But guess what?
- 0:45All of this and more on the 25th episode.
- 0:47That's right.
- 0:48Only five episodes away from hitting the 30 episode mark.
- 0:53And I cannot wait.
- 0:55Okay.
- 0:56But until then, guess what?
- 0:58We're going to keep this thing going because why?
- 1:01You are listening to Bag Road Domus.
- 1:04You are listening to your chief, Bag Meteorologist.
- 1:07You are listening to the man who has made predictions that are going to come forth in
- 1:12the next three years, who was currently looking at draft classes three years in advance, who
- 1:18currently right now is a GM, former GM, who's now on the team right now, who currently
- 1:25has interviews lined up right now for assistant GM positions.
- 1:30But I'm not taking them right now because you got to get ready for the season.
- 1:34Okay.
- 1:35Right now we are in the great state of Texas.
- 1:38Okay.
- 1:39Eating some good Texas brisket.
- 1:41Okay.
- 1:42You already know what I'm getting ready to say because we all are going to say the same
- 1:46thing.
- 1:47I am your host, Kale.
- 1:50You already know what time it is.
- 1:51Lock in.
- 1:52All right, folks.
- 1:59Let's just, let's just do, well, you know what?
- 2:13Let's just go.
- 2:22Let's just go into everything.
- 2:23Okay.
- 2:24We're not going to sugarcoat it.
- 2:26We're not going to try to stall.
- 2:27We're not going to try to do any of these types of things right now.
- 2:30Okay.
- 2:31We're just going to go into the nook and cranny of all these topics because there's a lot
- 2:36to talk about.
- 2:37We're going to try to keep this very, very, very short as short as possible.
- 2:41Okay.
- 2:42So Evan McPherson, kicker for the Cincinnati Bengals, aka the Cincinnati Bumgles, okay.
- 2:49He paints a three-year, $16.5 million deal to stay with the Bengals.
- 2:54He gets $5.5 million a year.
- 2:57Okay.
- 2:58Now, not a whole lot to talk about this team-friendly deal, good deal, got it done.
- 3:02Someone got paid.
- 3:04That's all that matters.
- 3:05Nothing to, you know, in depth to really go over with this signing.
- 3:12You know, we have started to see that teams have prioritized kickers and punters more
- 3:17lately than what they used to.
- 3:21And it shows with, you know, the market somewhat resetting as frequent as it has been, you
- 3:27know, lately when you have people like him and you have Harrison Butcher and Justin Tucker
- 3:32and Elliot for the Eagles and, you know, kickers like that.
- 3:37I mean, you know, they do have to get paid, you know, pretty fairly.
- 3:41So, and it shows, you know, with Evan McPherson getting his deal.
- 3:46Congratulations to him.
- 3:48Let's get, let's keep this party started.
- 3:49Okay.
- 3:50Well, not the party.
- 3:51Let's keep this party going.
- 3:52What am I saying?
- 3:53What's going on with me?
- 3:54Right?
- 3:55I think it's the brisket.
- 3:56I think the brisket got to me.
- 3:57Now, moving on to other things.
- 3:59Okay.
- 4:00So, Stefan Gilmore, corner, aimed a one-year $10 million deal with the Vikings.
- 4:05Okay.
- 4:06He gets $7 million in total guarantees.
- 4:07Now, when you look at it, a team like the Vikings have definitely been in the market
- 4:13for a corner, you know, for a while, especially, you know, with the sudden passing of, of
- 4:20of Kari, Kari Jackson.
- 4:23I think it's safe to say that they, they don't have, well, this is what I'll say.
- 4:28The defense, the defense is lacking, especially, you know, with them losing to Neil Hunter
- 4:33to, to free agency.
- 4:35So, you know, having someone like a Stefan Gilmore who can be that veteran presence and
- 4:40somewhat, you know, build up the corners that they do have on that team definitely, you
- 4:46know, is, is a good, you know, a good situation, honestly, not to mention, you know, there,
- 4:51there is a new England connection there because why Brian Flores is the defensive coordinator
- 4:57over there, you know, with them.
- 4:59So, you know, you have that, you have that connection in place and whatnot.
- 5:03So all in all, it's a pretty good deal.
- 5:05You know, you get, you're getting a corner that, you know, can still go to toe.
- 5:10I can't even speak.
- 5:12Definitely is the brisket who can still go toe to toe with, you know, some of the best
- 5:15corners in the league, right?
- 5:18You're talking about somebody who can play both inside and outside as well as, you know,
- 5:24make tackles and do whatever, you know, he is asked and needed to do.
- 5:29So I mean, all in all, it was a great signing.
- 5:31Me personally, I definitely wanted the Steelers to go after Stefan Gilmore, but clearly that's
- 5:38not had, that's not, you know, that's not a priority, I guess.
- 5:42So, you know, here we are.
- 5:44But honestly speaking here, I am definitely surprised that he was able to get the deal
- 5:48that he, that he got simply because, you know, teams, teams may, may try to play the, oh,
- 5:56you know, you're a little bit up in age game and, you know, all those different type of
- 6:00tactics to try to convince players, you know, to take less and all those different type
- 6:04of things.
- 6:05But for him to still, you know, have a market and for him to get the deal that he got, that
- 6:09definitely shows that he still does have a strong market within the league and that team
- 6:13still do view him as a very versatile corner, you know, despite him being, you know, up
- 6:20in age, you know, because we've seen corners do not age that well.
- 6:26They don't.
- 6:27Some corners have aged, you know, gracefully and then there's others that just been like,
- 6:33it's, it's just a nose dive.
- 6:35I'm talking about a straight nose dive down.
- 6:38So all in all, congratulations to Stefan Gilmore Vikings.
- 6:42You guys just got somebody great.
- 6:44And hopefully that, you know, maybe, maybe in practice, you know, you can have a one-on-one
- 6:49matchup with him and Justin Jefferson, which actually might, which actually might make
- 6:53Justin Jefferson actually a whole lot better as well.
- 6:56All in all, it's a great situation.
- 6:59It really is.
- 7:00So, you know, congratulations to them.
- 7:02Now, you know, we do have to, you know, we would definitely do have to talk about it.
- 7:06So the Steelers and Bill's game.
- 7:08Now, before we go any further, I just want to let everybody know I have, I had to think,
- 7:14oh, I had to think over this.
- 7:16I had to sleep on it.
- 7:18I had to drink some water over it.
- 7:19I had to do a whole lot of things just to find the words to say about this, right?
- 7:24And this is what I will say.
- 7:25I'm just going to be completely honest here.
- 7:28Relax.
- 7:29Relax.
- 7:30R-E-L-A-X.
- 7:31Relax.
- 7:32Okay.
- 7:33The reason why I'm saying that is because this, this is why the preseason is important
- 7:43because you're able to see the, the, the nicks and the weaknesses of your team.
- 7:50Correct.
- 7:51And sometimes when you, when you're seeing, you know, the preseason game, sometimes our
- 7:56emotions can, can alter and sort of cloud our judgment and our opinions about our team
- 8:02because it definitely did for me.
- 8:04It definitely did.
- 8:05But this is what I will say because I know everybody's been talking about Broderick Jones.
- 8:10Yes.
- 8:11Broderick Jones should be playing at left tackle.
- 8:13Yes.
- 8:14That, that, that is, that is a point that I can definitely agree on that, you know, he
- 8:18doesn't need to be taking more reps at left tackle.
- 8:22If everyone has been saying from Omar to Tomlin to Mr. Rooney himself, if everyone has been
- 8:29saying that he is, that he's supposed to be the franchise left tackle, well, then you
- 8:34have to put him over there in order for him to get comfortable at playing left tackle.
- 8:39That's the only way that this thing works.
- 8:41You can't, you can't continue to flip flop him and have him play right tackle and then
- 8:46left tackle and then left tackle to right tackle.
- 8:49You can't continue to do that.
- 8:50At some point he has to get his footing at one position.
- 8:55That's just what it is at the end of the day.
- 8:57Why is it that, you know, basically Broderick has basically been shuffled at different positions
- 9:03but Dan, but, but we're keeping Dan more strictly at left tackle and mind you, this is the same
- 9:10person that, you know, everybody complains about and say that, you know, Dan Moore is
- 9:14not good.
- 9:15It's time for him to, you know, hang it up and go somewhere else, different opportunity,
- 9:19trade him, cut him, whatever the case may be, all those different types of things.
- 9:23But it's like y'all don't give Broderick Jones an inadequate, you know, leg up in competition.
- 9:30You don't because why he's mainly been at right tackle.
- 9:34May I remind you folks that the reason why he played right tackle is because Chukes ran
- 9:39his mouth on the sideline and people were trying to tell him to be quiet and in doing
- 9:45so, guess what happened?
- 9:46Mike benched him.
- 9:48That's what happened.
- 9:49That I mean, that's what happened, right?
- 9:52And so I understand, you know, he probably was the, you know, the best option to play
- 9:56at right tackle.
- 9:57Okay, cool.
- 9:58That season has passed.
- 9:59There's a whole different season, right?
- 10:00You drafted Troy Fortuno.
- 10:01I get it.
- 10:02Troy Fortuno is still hurt, but you still have other people.
- 10:05You have Dylan Cook.
- 10:06You have Spencer Anderson.
- 10:08You still have other people that you can test out at right tackle for now because you still
- 10:13need somebody behind Troy Fortuno just in case, you know, anything crazy happens.
- 10:19You need that.
- 10:20You do.
- 10:21And how in the world do you know what you have as far as secondary offensive linemen,
- 10:27especially swing tackles, if you don't give them a chance?
- 10:31How?
- 10:32Like really think about that for a second here, folks, because honestly, whether we want to
- 10:37do a minute or not, yes, this offense is going to go through some, some, you know, some difficult
- 10:43times.
- 10:44Okay, it's going to happen.
- 10:46That is the process, the natural process that happens when you have a lot of turnover,
- 10:51the, you know, the type of turnover that we have had in one off season.
- 10:55May I remind people, especially Steven's nation, Kenny is gone.
- 10:59Well, I'm never mind.
- 11:04Kenny is gone.
- 11:05Mason Rudolph is gone.
- 11:06Mitchell Biscay is gone.
- 11:07All three quarterbacks are gone.
- 11:09Right.
- 11:10And so they brought in Kyle Allen, Justin Fields and their Russell Wilson.
- 11:16That's a lot of turnover on top of you trade away the auntie Johnson.
- 11:21You get a new offensive coordinator.
- 11:23You draft another tackle.
- 11:25You draft another center.
- 11:27You draft another guard.
- 11:29The the original center, he's basic.
- 11:32He's basically, you know, out for the season with the torn rotator cuff.
- 11:36So now you have to move your rookie center and make him the starting center.
- 11:40Right.
- 11:41It's a lot of change.
- 11:43And so what happens is when there's a lot of change, a team, regardless of what side
- 11:48the ball is, they're going to go through these growing pains and these growing pains are
- 11:53not fun.
- 11:54They're not, they've never been fun.
- 11:55They're never fun for anybody.
- 11:57But that is why you have preseason is in place so that can so that they can maneuver
- 12:01those type of things.
- 12:03They can build those reps, develop that chemistry and be prepared for the regular season.
- 12:08Right.
- 12:09Because let's be real here.
- 12:10Arthur Smith probably hasn't even used 20% of the real plays that he probably wants
- 12:16to use once the regular season starts.
- 12:19Right.
- 12:20These are probably just like, I wouldn't say dummy plays, but these are just like, you
- 12:24know, sort of like the, the bare minimum type of plays that you probably would use, you
- 12:30know, just for everybody to get comfortable, you know, develop reps, chemistry, all those
- 12:34different types of things.
- 12:35Right.
- 12:36And even then, when we look at the quarterback, you know, position, I can, I mean, although
- 12:43Russ is quote unquote the pole position, which I've never even heard of that term before
- 12:47until this off season, until Mike Tomlin said it, although Russ is at the pole position,
- 12:53we've seen that Justin Fields has developed more chemistry with his receivers and the
- 12:58offense compared to Russ.
- 13:01Now granted, a lot of that is because Russ was hurt in the beginning of training camp
- 13:05because he messed up his calf, pushing up a sled, which again, that was a dumb idea.
- 13:11Why in the world do we continue to do these dumb things?
- 13:14Tomlin, why?
- 13:16Think about that for a second.
- 13:18But you know, when you, when you look at it, Justin Fields has definitely done a little
- 13:24bit more.
- 13:25And the only reason why I'm saying a little bit more is he can, of course, he can, he
- 13:30can still, you know, extend plays because why he's still mobile?
- 13:33He can still run.
- 13:34So I mean, of course that that's going to be, you know, a good situation.
- 13:40But as far as anything else, no, at this point, my expectation for the last preseason game
- 13:47is when we want to see the offense, especially the first team offense, be able to put some
- 13:52points on the board.
- 13:54That is my expectation.
- 13:55That is the thing that I want to see.
- 13:56I don't, I don't necessarily want to see this dominate game where like every single time
- 14:01they get on the field, you know, they're scoring a touchdown first play.
- 14:04I don't want to see that.
- 14:05I want to be able to see them put points on the board.
- 14:08I want to see a level of consistency that shows that one, this offense is in a good place.
- 14:16Two, there's chemistry.
- 14:18The chemistry is good.
- 14:20And three, the offensive line is together.
- 14:24That's what I want to see.
- 14:25I don't want to see a bunch of, you know, just, just sloppiness because that's what that
- 14:32that's basically what we've been seeing lately is flat out sloppiness when it comes to the
- 14:37offense.
- 14:38The defense is the defense.
- 14:39I don't have nothing to say about the defense because why the defense is the defense.
- 14:43You don't have to worry about the defense because why the defense is always going to
- 14:47be intact.
- 14:48It is the offense that has been lackluster for the, for the last couple of years and
- 14:54they have to pick it up.
- 14:56They have to pick it up.
- 14:58The defense can't continue to, to ball out, you know, every single week and then the off
- 15:03season, I mean, and then the offense is basically, you know, dragging, you know, they have to,
- 15:09they don't necessarily have to be a top five offense or a top three offense or the best
- 15:13offense in the league, but dammit, you have to be a good offense.
- 15:17You have to be able to one, chew the clock, um, weaken the defense, make the defense tired
- 15:25and put points on the board.
- 15:27That's what you have to, and if you cannot do those things, then we have a bigger problem
- 15:32that needs to be addressed.
- 15:35And I get it.
- 15:36There's still people that are still banking on, you know, the Steelers, you know, possibly
- 15:40trading, you know, the world trying to trade for someone like a brand.
- 15:43Now you can whatnot folks.
- 15:45Let me tell you something.
- 15:47If you think that that trade is going to go down, if you think that that's going to move
- 15:51the needle, if you think that's going to, you know, be a dynamic type of change, you
- 15:55are sadly mistaken.
- 15:57You are.
- 15:58Okay.
- 15:59He, he has been, he has been in the headlines basically almost all summer long.
- 16:08It's it's drawing out too long.
- 16:11It's it's just unnecessary at this point.
- 16:13We need to continue to move forward with the idea that someone like a brand, IEU is not
- 16:21going to be on this team.
- 16:22Now, maybe later in the season, someone might be available that, you know, it'll be a better
- 16:27situation in an easier situation to, um, you know, to, to take care of than this.
- 16:33Okay, cool.
- 16:34Fine.
- 16:35But to say that, you know, you need someone like a brand, IEU it.
- 16:38No, you don't, you don't need a brand.
- 16:39IEU again, I'm not getting into it if you want me to, if you want to hear why there are
- 16:44at least a few episodes before this one that I have said it multiple times on why brand
- 16:50and IEU is a bad move, um, for the Steelers.
- 16:54So, um, all in all, I just want to see improvement.
- 16:57I want to, I want to have a little bit of momentum, you know, with the offense in this
- 17:03preseason game that can be sort of carried into the first week of the season.
- 17:08That's what I want to see because may I remind Steelers nation that they have to go up against
- 17:13the Falcons and the Falcons had made a lot of, a lot of moves in this all season.
- 17:18They have, they got a stable quarterback in her cousins.
- 17:22They still have the weapons.
- 17:23Um, was it Drake London?
- 17:26Yeah.
- 17:27Drake London, you still have Kyle Pitts and you have Bijan Robison.
- 17:30You have the offensive line.
- 17:32Look at the defense, Judon, Grady Jarrett, Justin Simmons, Jesse Bates, AJ Turrell,
- 17:38they got some dogs on that team.
- 17:40They got some dogs on the team.
- 17:41That's not a team that you can't just, you know, sleep on and whatnot.
- 17:44No, you have to, you got to ball out now because if you don't, you're going to have
- 17:49another, um, another situation like how we did last season where we took the Texas for
- 17:55granted and guess what they did?
- 17:57They, they ran over us.
- 17:59They beat us.
- 18:00They beat us down and you don't want that.
- 18:01You don't want to be embarrassed.
- 18:02You just don't, especially with, with a lot of things that are riding on this season,
- 18:06you need to come out guns.
- 18:09You need to be able to, you know, to let people know like, Hey, listen, we can be a dark horse.
- 18:15We're going to be a team that, that, you know, it's going to be a thorn in your side, you
- 18:19know, as the season progresses.
- 18:21But again, done with them.
- 18:24Now moving on to the other game that that was that definitely caught my attention.
- 18:28Uh, the Ravens and Falcons, right?
- 18:31So, and I, this was probably somewhat of a hot take.
- 18:35Me personally, I feel like the Ravens are probably go and get another backup quarterback.
- 18:41I, I, I, I truly believe that.
- 18:42And the reason why I say that is because if they get someone like a Ryan Tannehill, that
- 18:47can be a backup.
- 18:49Oh, who that, that's, that's a good backup right there.
- 18:52That's a really good backup because right now can you really trust Josh Johnson?
- 18:57Can you really trust the other quarterback as well?
- 18:59No, you can't.
- 19:01You just can't.
- 19:02But if you have someone like a Ryan Tannehill who, you know, if you need him to, you know,
- 19:06to finish the game, he can do it.
- 19:08If you need him to play a game, you know, he can do it, right?
- 19:12Because everything is already in place.
- 19:14You got Derek Henry, you got the receiving Corey, Garth, Mark Andrews, perfectly fine.
- 19:18Okay.
- 19:19Cool.
- 19:20Um, also I do believe that the Ravens are definitely going to be highly, um, involved
- 19:25in trying to get, um, another guard.
- 19:28I just, I don't know what it is with Ben Cleveland.
- 19:30I think they just do not believe him, Ben Cleveland at all.
- 19:34I think Ben Cleveland is not a good guard.
- 19:38I think at best he'll probably be maybe a good backup guard.
- 19:42I just don't think he, he's a good starting guard.
- 19:44I don't.
- 19:45Um, and I wouldn't be surprised if, if the Ravens, you know, try to do a little bit of
- 19:49digging and maybe try to see if they can pick up somebody from, from cut down day or, you
- 19:54know, trades or whatever the case may be personally.
- 19:57Um, and I do think they probably do need another patch rusher.
- 20:00I do because, um, they cannot, they cannot rely just on, you know, Adafi away and David
- 20:09a job, oh, um, to try to bail them out.
- 20:11And then Calvin, no, okay.
- 20:13This isn't the same Calvin, no, from the Patriots, right?
- 20:16This is a Calvin, no, that he could probably give you four, maybe five, maybe six or seven
- 20:20sacks, you know, this season, right?
- 20:23This isn't someone that's going to be as consistent like, like how he was, um, in his previous
- 20:28years.
- 20:29And if we're being real here, I think a move that's not really being talked about as much
- 20:35that definitely hurt them was Jadevion clown.
- 20:38You know, going to the Panthers.
- 20:40I do believe that because if they had Jadevion, I think they still would have been in a really
- 20:47good place.
- 20:48Right.
- 20:49I really do believe that.
- 20:50I really do.
- 20:51But you know, David a job, oh really?
- 20:55I mean, he there, there was definitely some flashes.
- 20:58You know, there was definitely some flashes.
- 21:00It definitely, you know, was looking good.
- 21:01It really was.
- 21:02And you know, I'm still rooting for David a job, oh, because, you know, when he was coming
- 21:06out of Michigan, he was projected to be a first round pick.
- 21:09The only reason why he fell was because he, he messed up his Achilles during his pro day.
- 21:15That's the only reason why.
- 21:18And you know, do you, do you want to take that risk and have him, you know, play, you
- 21:24know, and have him take, you know, 10, 15, 20, maybe, you know, more reps.
- 21:29Do you really want to do that?
- 21:30Or do you want to try to bring in another pass rusher and maybe try to see if you can,
- 21:36you know, do, do something with it at this point?
- 21:39Like these are serious conversations that, that, you know, the Ravens are probably having
- 21:44behind closed doors because although yes, they are still a very competitive team.
- 21:51There is a lot of holes that, that do need to be addressed in order for them to really
- 21:57be as competitive as what they need to be.
- 22:02That's just my personal opinion.
- 22:03I could be wrong Ravens fans.
- 22:04I could be wrong move, but that's just how I personally feel.
- 22:08I feel like if they go and they get a guard and if they get another good patch rusher,
- 22:13doesn't necessarily have to be, you know, a, a, a well-known patch rusher, but just someone
- 22:20that can, you know, that, that can do something, I think they're going to be in a good spot.
- 22:24I think they're going to be in a really good spot personally.
- 22:27As far as, as far as, you know, everything else, you know, the Ravens are the Ravens.
- 22:31Their defensive line, I think it definitely needs to be buffed up a little bit more too,
- 22:34especially the, the interior because outside of just a man, a bouquet, I mean, I think
- 22:40they still have Brent, Brent urban.
- 22:41If I'm not mistaken, you probably do need maybe somebody else because the Falcons were
- 22:46running the ball.
- 22:47They were running.
- 22:48They were talking about parting the Red Sea type of running.
- 22:52Okay.
- 22:53And, you know, if you're, if you're Ravens fan, you probably don't, don't like to see
- 22:58that personally.
- 22:59You just don't.
- 23:00So, you know, let's, let's wait and see.
- 23:04Maybe maybe EDC will, you know, we'll do something.
- 23:06Maybe not.
- 23:07I don't know, but hey, let's see.
- 23:10Now onto the bigger topic that's definitely been talked about lately.
- 23:14I think that does need to be addressed.
- 23:17So Tua has finally spoken out about, you know, his relationship with Brian Flores, former
- 23:24Miami Dolphins head coach on the Dan Liebertard show.
- 23:27Shout out to Dan Liebertard, by the way, for putting out this great content.
- 23:31Now, I'm just going to read the quote.
- 23:34It's going to be a long quote.
- 23:35So bear with me folks, but I want to read the quote and then we're going to, you know,
- 23:40discuss it.
- 23:41Okay.
- 23:42Cool.
- 23:43So basically this is what Tua said on Brian Flores and I quote, if you woke up every
- 23:46morning and I told you that you suck at what you did, that you don't belong doing what
- 23:51you do, that you shouldn't be here, that this guy should be here, that you haven't earned
- 23:55this right.
- 23:56And then you have somebody else come in and tell you, dude, you are the best fit for this.
- 24:01You are accurate.
- 24:02You are the best, whatever you are this, you are that.
- 24:04How would that make you feel listening to one or the other?
- 24:07You see what I'm saying?
- 24:08And then you hear it and hear it regardless of what it is, the good or the bad, and you
- 24:13hear it more and more.
- 24:15You start to actually believe that I don't care who you are.
- 24:18You could be the president of the United States.
- 24:20If you have a terrible person that's telling you things that you don't want to hear or
- 24:24probably shouldn't be hearing, you're going to start to believe that about yourself.
- 24:29That sort of what ended up happening.
- 24:32It's basically been two years of training, training that out of me, not just me, but
- 24:36a couple of the guys as well as that have been here since my rookie year all the way
- 24:42till now.
- 24:43Now this is a very bomb-drop, bombshell of a quote when it comes to it because he's
- 24:52finally been able to speak about this because let's be real here, folks.
- 24:59That entire situation with Brian Flores and the Dolphins was not a good situation.
- 25:03It was just a nasty situation all around.
- 25:07It really was.
- 25:08When we really look at it, although the defense was pretty good, you can tell that too unmentally
- 25:18was not there.
- 25:19You can tell that at times in the season he was definitely checked out mentally and that
- 25:25his confidence, his self-confidence about himself was definitely down.
- 25:30You can definitely see that and it showed.
- 25:35You know, this somewhat opens up to another bigger conversation that, listen, those coaches
- 25:42that were under Bill Belichick have not been successful.
- 25:48They have not.
- 25:49They have not been successful and they are under the impression that they can act like
- 25:55and do the same thing that Bill Belichick did with Tom Brady.
- 25:59Let me tell you something here, folks.
- 26:00Without relationship between Bill Belichick and Tom Brady, you will never see a relationship
- 26:06like that ever again.
- 26:07You're talking about somebody who verbally would basically pick apart every single minute
- 26:15detail that Tom Brady was doing and Tom took it on the chin.
- 26:19Tom took it on the chin.
- 26:20He took it on the chin and he just kept on pushing and he improved himself and he got
- 26:25better.
- 26:28Those coaches, Matt Patricia, I think, well, not Joe Douglas.
- 26:32I forgot his name.
- 26:34He was the coach for the Giants for a moment.
- 26:37Brian Flores, Josh McDaniels, everywhere they went as head coaches have been a shit show.
- 26:44Just an all-out shit show.
- 26:48I'm talking about the biggest shit show you could possibly think of because why?
- 26:53They think that, guess what?
- 26:55If Bill can do it, I can do it and that's the wrong mentality to have.
- 27:00That's why Josh McDaniels got fired the way that he got fired because why?
- 27:06He thought that he was Bill.
- 27:08He thought that he could do the same thing that Bill do and it don't work like that.
- 27:13It don't.
- 27:14It don't.
- 27:15Not to mention, their production wasn't really that good either.
- 27:20We didn't look at it.
- 27:21That's why Matt, what the whole situation with Matt Patricia?
- 27:25That's why Darius Lane wanted to get traded to the Eagles because he could not handle,
- 27:30I mean not handle, but it was just so much just downright harassment from someone like
- 27:38a Matt Patricia that he's just like, no, the hell with this?
- 27:43I can go.
- 27:44I don't have to be here.
- 27:45I can go because what you're not going to do is just disrespect me like this.
- 27:50You're just not going to do it.
- 27:51I'm sorry.
- 27:52I'm a grown man just like you.
- 27:53You're just not going to do that.
- 27:54It shows.
- 27:55It definitely shows.
- 27:58We can, if we can be real here, that's probably why ownership probably took and changed the
- 28:06mindset that they did because of what happened with Brian Flores.
- 28:11There were multiple reporters, insiders, you name it, that were reporting these things
- 28:17that there was a lot of friction in that locker room and on that team with Brian Flores and
- 28:23company.
- 28:24There was.
- 28:25There were a lot of players that were definitely rubbed the wrong way.
- 28:28Tua wasn't the only person.
- 28:30Tua was just the only person that's come out publicly about it and said something about
- 28:35it.
- 28:36But for Tua to show this level of strength to finally talk about it, definitely says a
- 28:43lot that he's finally come to peace and come to terms with that point in his career.
- 28:52And now that he has, he definitely looks like he's in a better place.
- 28:56He does.
- 28:57And it shows.
- 28:59When they hired Mike McDaniel, they definitely made a lot of changes.
- 29:04Revan the offensive line, traded for Tyreek Hill, got Jalen Waddle, got Raheem Mostard
- 29:11and company.
- 29:12They just surrounded Tua with just not only weapons, but they tried to build up his confidence
- 29:21even more, which is important because if your quarterback does not have any confidence,
- 29:27they're really not going to show.
- 29:29They're not going to be able to really, their mentors won't be there, basically, is what
- 29:36I'm saying.
- 29:38And it definitely looked like and sounded like Brian Flores was definitely destroying
- 29:45his confidence week by week.
- 29:49And that probably took a toll on Tua.
- 29:50And it probably did.
- 29:52And it shows.
- 29:53And not to be disrespectful, but that's probably why Brian Flores didn't get another head coaching
- 30:02opportunity because they probably heard about all of those things.
- 30:08GMs and owners and whatnot, they probably heard more in-depth information about what
- 30:16happened with Brian Flores when he was in Miami than what we will probably ever know.
- 30:22And they're probably like, no, we just can't have that.
- 30:25And that's why you see a lot of times a lot of those coaches from that Bill Belichick
- 30:32tree do not transition and get head coaching, Josh, because why?
- 30:39Number one, they're just their mentality to players is somewhat similar to bills and
- 30:47players nowadays, they don't want that.
- 30:50They don't care about that.
- 30:51They don't give a damn about that.
- 30:52But what they do value, though, is respect.
- 30:54And if you as a coach are not giving them the respect and if you are not trying to coach
- 30:59them and to help them to be better, but instead you are more of like being an ass about every
- 31:05single small little thing and just being anal about every little detail and what they're
- 31:13not doing and how they're not the best and that they're never going to be anything, that
- 31:18weighs on you mentally.
- 31:21Imagine coming to work every single day and your boss basically tells you, you're shit.
- 31:26You're a horrible employee.
- 31:28You're the worst employee I've ever had.
- 31:31You'll never be anything.
- 31:32You'll never progress.
- 31:34You'll never achieve your goals and all those different types of things.
- 31:38At first it won't affect you, but as time goes on, it starts to get into your psyche.
- 31:44And then as time really continues to go on, at some point you'll start believing those
- 31:49things and that's somewhat what happened with Tula's situation.
- 31:55He'd somewhat believed that he didn't deserve to be a quarterback for the Dolphins, didn't
- 32:02deserve to do the best that he could do.
- 32:05And it basically took for them to fire Brian Flores and to bring in someone like I might
- 32:09make Daniels to be like, hey, listen, we're going to build you up.
- 32:13We're going to figure out what your weaknesses, we're going to try to master them as best
- 32:17as possible and we're going to try to work with you and try to make you a better quarterback.
- 32:20And it shows because why?
- 32:22He got the big deal.
- 32:24That signals that he is the franchise quarterback.
- 32:27They made a lot of great moves just to surround him with weapons and pieces and whatnot.
- 32:33So all in all, they definitely made the right decision now than to keep Brian Flores because
- 32:40again, like I said before, early on into this episode, it just sounded like it was just
- 32:46a storm of just bull every single day with that team.
- 32:51But I'm going to end it here.
- 32:52We're going to keep it live.
- 32:53We're going to keep it light, keep it right.
