- 1:12Speaker 4: joins us now doc we appreciate you fighting through the
- 1:15Speaker 4: traffic to.
- 1:16Speaker 5: Get here so it was it was it was touch
- 1:18Speaker 5: and go i wasn't sure we're gonna make it on
- 1:19Speaker 5: time but last second we had a little opening and
- 1:21Speaker 5: we took it and We made it.
- 1:23Speaker 4: Look, we've all almost been late to, you know, some
- 1:26Speaker 4: football meetings before, and you think there's no way, but
- 1:29Speaker 4: you find a way.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Find a way.
- 1:30Speaker 4: You know, like Coach Moffitt used to say, if that
- 1:33Speaker 4: train's on the tracks, drag your bloody ass into this
- 1:36Speaker 4: weight room.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:38Speaker 6: We got Moffitt in town this week. I know. I
- 1:40Speaker 6: almost didn't say his name because he's the enemy this week.
- 1:42Speaker 6: This week he is the enemy. We love you, though.
- 1:44Speaker 7: I was wondering how I was supposed to get through
- 1:46Speaker 7: that train, though. I was supposed to perfectly time the gap.
- 1:49Speaker 6: Well, that's kind of his point.
- 1:50Speaker 4: It's like– go over under through but yeah you drag
- 1:53Speaker 4: your you know what into this weight room and he
- 1:56Speaker 4: meant it i think i think probably right.
- 1:59Speaker 8: Sometimes there's just no excuse.
- 2:02Speaker 4: Uh there's a lot and i do mean a lot
- 2:04Speaker 4: of injuries to kind of get to across the sports
- 2:06Speaker 4: world uh we were kind of talking about a little
- 2:09Speaker 4: bit before we jumped on here like the saints left
- 2:12Speaker 4: tackle banks like he's gonna have tightrope i think i
- 2:15Speaker 4: think that's the latest that i heard with him and
- 2:17Speaker 4: that was something you and I talked about.
- 2:18Speaker 6: It was in vogue there for a long time.
- 2:20Speaker 4: And it's kind of like a procedure that everybody was
- 2:23Speaker 4: talking about and to a tongue of my lower getting
- 2:25Speaker 4: it in 2019 was probably where it really started to
- 2:28Speaker 4: blow up. And so we're starting to hear it a
- 2:30Speaker 4: little bit again, when you decide to do that. Well,
- 2:33Speaker 4: first off, like I'll let you obviously explain like kind
- 2:35Speaker 4: of what it is for some of our listeners, but
- 2:37Speaker 4: when you decide to do that, why do you end
- 2:41Speaker 4: up doing it opposed to letting it heal on its own?
- 2:43Speaker 2: Right.
- 2:43Speaker 5: So it's, It's a specific surgical procedure that's done for
- 2:48Speaker 5: a high ankle sprain. When we talk about the ankle sprains,
- 2:51Speaker 5: we break it down. Really, if you want to just
- 2:54Speaker 5: be three basic types, you have a high ankle, lateral,
- 2:57Speaker 5: and medial. The most common is the lateral. That's when
- 2:59Speaker 5: you roll your foot in the outside of the ankle.
- 3:01Speaker 5: You sprain some of those ligaments. Typically, that is the
- 3:03Speaker 5: one we see most commonly. Medial is going to be
- 3:06Speaker 5: the inside ligament. A little bit harder to do, but
- 3:08Speaker 5: definitely happens a fair bit. And then the high ankle
- 3:11Speaker 5: is there's a ligament that actually attaches the tibia and
- 3:14Speaker 5: the fibula. So the two lower leg bones that kind
- 3:16Speaker 5: of go down and form the top of the ankle joint.
- 3:19Speaker 5: There's a ligament that hold or several ligaments that hold
- 3:21Speaker 5: those together. And if you sprain those ligaments, that's a
- 3:23Speaker 5: high ankle. Right. So it's reasonably common. We always hear
- 3:27Speaker 5: about high ankles. So and the tightrope procedure is a
- 3:29Speaker 5: surgical procedure where you literally go in. And essentially, you're
- 3:32Speaker 5: putting a rope around those or through those, so something
- 3:35Speaker 5: to kind of hold those two bones back together. It's
- 3:38Speaker 5: a procedure that's become more and more common. It's gotten,
- 3:40Speaker 5: over the years, we've kind of refined it and made
- 3:42Speaker 5: it a little better. In the world of ankle surgeries,
- 3:46Speaker 5: no surgery is simple and easy, but it's one that's
- 3:49Speaker 5: become pretty commonplace now.
- 3:50Speaker 6: How thick is this rope that you're putting in there?
- 3:52Speaker 6: A fishing line?
- 3:53Speaker 5: A little bit more than that, a little more substantial.
- 3:55Speaker 5: You've got to have something, because again, you don't want
- 3:57Speaker 5: it to break. You don't want that, because that kind
- 3:59Speaker 5: of defeats the purpose.
- 3:59Speaker 6: But then you also.
- 4:00Speaker 5: And then one of the other problems initially is where
- 4:02Speaker 5: they would fasten it on the bone. They would have
- 4:04Speaker 5: some fractures. So they had to go back in and
- 4:05Speaker 5: kind of redo some of those things. And so over time,
- 4:09Speaker 5: we've got it down to a pretty, pretty safe procedure
- 4:11Speaker 5: with very low complications. You're just basically making a new ligament.
- 4:14Speaker 5: And you don't have to go back in and retrieve it.
- 4:17Speaker 6: No, you can leave that in. And typically people do well.
- 4:19Speaker 5: Like I said, there's been a few, especially some of
- 4:21Speaker 5: the earlier versions where people would have some fractures around
- 4:23Speaker 5: the site. And even that was not super common, but
- 4:25Speaker 5: it happened and we're getting those, you know, it can
- 4:27Speaker 5: still happen. Anything can happen, but typically no, you leave
- 4:29Speaker 5: it alone. And so the question is, when do you
- 4:32Speaker 5: do those? And really it comes into severity, how bad
- 4:36Speaker 5: was the injury, which is kind of a determination through
- 4:39Speaker 5: both imaging, we'll get the MRI, we'll look at it,
- 4:41Speaker 5: and then your physical exam. Because sometimes it looks kind
- 4:44Speaker 5: of bad in the MRI, but then you look at
- 4:46Speaker 5: the ankle and you're like, hey, this guy looks great.
- 4:47Speaker 5: I think in 2019, not to whatever, we had two
- 4:51Speaker 5: guys that had almost the exact same injury at the
- 4:53Speaker 5: exact same time. If I showed you the two MRIs
- 4:56Speaker 5: side by side, you would not be able to tell
- 4:57Speaker 5: me which one was one of these two guys, both
- 4:59Speaker 5: high ankles.
- 5:00Speaker 6: One of them needed surgery.
- 5:01Speaker 5: One of them didn't because one of them, when we
- 5:03Speaker 5: looked at his ankle on exam was pretty functional, he
- 5:05Speaker 5: was able to kind of raise up on his foot.
- 5:07Speaker 5: Some of the different tests that we look at the
- 5:08Speaker 5: other one was not. So, so in that scenario, one
- 5:11Speaker 5: guy got surgery, one guy didn't. And so a lot
- 5:13Speaker 5: of it's a combination of all the above or how
- 5:15Speaker 5: functional are they? And then, and then look circumstances. Well,
- 5:17Speaker 5: you know, this is, if had been maybe me, you know,
- 5:20Speaker 5: and all I got to do is walk around in
- 5:21Speaker 5: a boot in my clinic, you know, maybe I'm not
- 5:24Speaker 5: getting mine repaired, but if I'm a football player and
- 5:26Speaker 5: this can get me back on the field, at you
- 5:28Speaker 5: know two to four weeks instead of six to eight
- 5:30Speaker 5: weeks you know that's a tremendous difference yeah and look
- 5:33Speaker 5: and some people may say but that's that's the reality
- 5:35Speaker 5: i mean at any level i would as a high
- 5:37Speaker 5: school player if i was given that option i would
- 5:38Speaker 5: do it let alone college and professional because it's a
- 5:41Speaker 5: safe procedure too so it's not you know obviously you
- 5:43Speaker 5: take all that into consideration so in this scenario i
- 5:45Speaker 5: don't know the details but i'm assuming they looked at
- 5:47Speaker 5: his and said hey this is a a more higher
- 5:49Speaker 5: grade high ankle this is one that if we don't
- 5:52Speaker 5: do anything with it he's probably going to be in
- 5:53Speaker 5: a boot for several weeks probably maybe tail into the
- 5:56Speaker 5: season getting back on the field Or we do the
- 5:58Speaker 5: surgery and we shorten that, maybe cut that timeline in half, hopefully,
- 6:01Speaker 5: as long as everything goes well.
- 6:03Speaker 6: And that's probably where they're looking at it.
- 6:06Speaker 7: Doc, I just had a wild thought listening to you
- 6:09Speaker 7: give that description of the tightrope.
- 6:11Speaker 8: So it's not something you go retrieve.
- 6:12Speaker 7: So you're tying their bones together, basically, essentially latching them
- 6:16Speaker 7: together with something very strong.
- 6:18Speaker 8: And it's not retrieved.
- 6:19Speaker 7: So your body's going to heal back to where it was,
- 6:23Speaker 7: but you're still going to have, that device, the tight
- 6:27Speaker 7: rope in there holding. And I would think that would
- 6:30Speaker 7: make you potentially stronger by going for it after your
- 6:33Speaker 7: body heals. And then you have this action. Do you
- 6:35Speaker 7: ever see a moment like in the future, people getting
- 6:39Speaker 7: like preventative surgery when they're completely healthy to make, I
- 6:43Speaker 7: don't know, like tie their knee down, tie their ankle down,
- 6:46Speaker 7: get a, put a plate in somewhere to make them
- 6:48Speaker 7: less likely to get injured.
- 6:50Speaker 5: You know, it's an interesting topic and yes, maybe someday,
- 6:54Speaker 5: you know, I look, we're, we're, we're moving forward, revolving, we're,
- 6:58Speaker 5: we're getting smarter, we're getting better. So I see a
- 7:00Speaker 5: scenario where we find a way to make a super
- 7:02Speaker 5: athlete or a super soldier or something like that, you know,
- 7:04Speaker 5: and then kind of absolutely, you know, you know, I'm just.
- 7:06Speaker 7: Thinking like this steel, like you got like a steel,
- 7:09Speaker 7: like cable tying their bones together because it's injured.
- 7:12Speaker 6: Right.
- 7:12Speaker 7: But at some point it's not going to be injured anymore.
- 7:14Speaker 7: And then it's going to be tied together with a
- 7:15Speaker 7: steel cable.
- 7:16Speaker 5: I think it's, it's a feasible place that we could
- 7:18Speaker 5: end up now.
- 7:19Speaker 6: On the other hand, the thing I always think about,
- 7:21Speaker 6: I don't have no rope for that ankle, buddy.
- 7:23Speaker 5: One of the ones that was a big issue, I
- 7:25Speaker 5: think it's kind of died down a lot, is you
- 7:27Speaker 5: have parents that wanted their kids to get the Tommy
- 7:28Speaker 5: John surgery because they heard they could make them throw faster, which, A,
- 7:30Speaker 5: is a myth.
- 7:31Speaker 6: It doesn't. And, B, no. Right now we're not there.
- 7:35Speaker 5: But just to be very clear, I'm not advocating for
- 7:37Speaker 5: anyone to go do any of this now.
- 7:39Speaker 6: But, yeah, look, I like to think about the future.
- 7:42Speaker 5: And, look, realistically, I'm sure that we may get there
- 7:45Speaker 5: at some point, but we're definitely nowhere near that yet.
- 7:47Speaker 6: So don't bring your kids into alignment.
- 7:48Speaker 8: I'm an offensive lineman. Put a steel plate in my elbow,
- 7:50Speaker 8: and I'll just.
- 7:52Speaker 6: Of all the things to do, that's where you'd go?
- 7:55Speaker 6: You want to steel plate in your elbow?
- 7:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:57Speaker 8: I'm an MMA fighter. Steel plates in my knuckles.
- 8:00Speaker 4: Okay, that makes more sense than the elbow on the
- 8:02Speaker 4: offensive lineman. You were so, like, the question was so good,
- 8:05Speaker 4: and then you flinned it.
- 8:06Speaker 6: And that's where we went. And then you flinned it.
- 8:08Speaker 2: It's all right.
- 8:09Speaker 9: Okay.
- 8:09Speaker 4: Doc, we know there is an LCL, an MCL, and
- 8:12Speaker 4: an ACL. We know about ACLs. Mahomes was ACL and
- 8:17Speaker 4: LCL tear, and he came back, and he did it
- 8:19Speaker 4: in December, which is remarkable.
- 8:21Speaker 6: But we're seeing a ton of MCLs.
- 8:23Speaker 4: ACL is going to be most of the time, LCL even,
- 8:26Speaker 4: a tear. We're seeing a lot of MCL sprains. Is
- 8:30Speaker 4: that just by chance? Is it something that you're seeing
- 8:33Speaker 4: more often? Because I feel like NFL and college football,
- 8:37Speaker 4: the reports are MCL sprains.
- 8:39Speaker 6: Right.
- 8:39Speaker 5: So we typically see MCL sprains a lot. It is
- 8:42Speaker 5: more common than the others typically. Now, sometimes you don't
- 8:46Speaker 5: hear about them because, fortunately, less catastrophic. It is not
- 8:49Speaker 5: an ACL where– the dreaded ACL, like we all see our,
- 8:52Speaker 5: our favorite player go down. We're looking at the knee.
- 8:55Speaker 5: We all go straight to thinking, Oh my gosh, hope
- 8:57Speaker 5: it's not an ACL. Cause we know that's a big injury.
- 8:58Speaker 5: That's a season ending injury. MCL is the ligament on
- 9:01Speaker 5: the inside of the knee. So if you think about it, it's,
- 9:03Speaker 5: it's kind of, it detaches basically on the inside that,
- 9:06Speaker 5: and it prevents the lower leg from kind of angling
- 9:08Speaker 5: out and what we call a valgus direction, but angling out. And,
- 9:12Speaker 5: and so if you think about like cutting a lot
- 9:13Speaker 5: of times you plant and cut, that's a common motion.
- 9:16Speaker 5: And if your foot's kind of planted, especially, or if,
- 9:18Speaker 5: or say you get a helmet to the knee or
- 9:19Speaker 5: something else like that, causes your leg to kind of
- 9:21Speaker 5: bend awkwardly where you're kind of hit from the outside
- 9:24Speaker 5: bending towards the inside you can stretch and sometimes irritate
- 9:27Speaker 5: that ligament it's it's it's an injury and it can
- 9:30Speaker 5: be significant and there are times that it's a surgical
- 9:33Speaker 5: injury but the overwhelming majority of these are treated conservatively
- 9:36Speaker 5: most mcl injuries do not need surgery so if you
- 9:39Speaker 5: have that injury you're very unlikely to have to have
- 9:41Speaker 5: a surgical repair in your future if that's the only
- 9:44Speaker 5: thing you do yeah Um, and then it's, it's an
- 9:46Speaker 5: injury that, you know, depending on just like all the
- 9:47Speaker 5: other things we talked about, it's all, you were talking
- 9:49Speaker 5: about the high ankles, how severe is it? Well, with
- 9:51Speaker 5: an MCL, it's kind of the same thing though, to,
- 9:52Speaker 5: you know, a mild MCL sprain, you know, those guys
- 9:55Speaker 5: might be back in the field in a week or two,
- 9:56Speaker 5: you know, they might have a brace on, do some
- 9:58Speaker 5: meds and things like that, but they can play in
- 9:59Speaker 5: a week or two. And then you kind of go
- 10:01Speaker 5: grade one, two, three. And when you get to that
- 10:02Speaker 5: grade three, which is the higher end, those are the
- 10:05Speaker 5: ones that will occasionally need surgery. But even then, a
- 10:07Speaker 5: lot of those, you just got to let them heal.
- 10:09Speaker 5: We'll do things to help it out. We'll get them
- 10:11Speaker 5: in therapy. We'll sometimes immobilize it for a few weeks
- 10:13Speaker 5: to let it kind of scar in and heal and
- 10:15Speaker 5: sometimes other treatments that we do.
- 10:17Speaker 8: To help it out.
- 10:18Speaker 5: So, again, an isolated MCL is usually what you're kind
- 10:21Speaker 5: of hoping for, honestly. Now, it can still be significant, though.
- 10:23Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 10:25Speaker 7: Like, best-case scenario type of deal? So, if a player gets,
- 10:31Speaker 7: especially if you believe you have, like, a bright future
- 10:33Speaker 7: ahead of you, obviously, like, trade has got hurt, and
- 10:37Speaker 7: we don't know what it is. But, like, when you
- 10:39Speaker 7: go down, everybody's going to think the worst-case scenario. obvious
- 10:42Speaker 7: like as a it's human nature like everybody.
- 10:44Speaker 6: I see somebody on the ground i'm like oh my god.
- 10:46Speaker 7: Everybody watching i'm sure the coaches certainly he is thinking
- 10:50Speaker 7: worst case scenario future all this stuff there's probably a
- 10:53Speaker 7: billion things going through your mind yeah you go out
- 10:56Speaker 7: on the field you're one of the first people out
- 10:58Speaker 7: there you are doing we're we're working with the knee
- 11:01Speaker 7: what are like the mobility things that we see doctors
- 11:04Speaker 7: do with the knee How much can that tell you
- 11:07Speaker 7: on the field? And what messages are you relaying to
- 11:10Speaker 7: the player in that situation?
- 11:12Speaker 2: That's a good question.
- 11:13Speaker 6: So you can find out a lot.
- 11:15Speaker 5: And sometimes, especially that initial evaluation, because sometimes once the
- 11:20Speaker 5: athlete really starts thinking about it, it's called guarding where
- 11:24Speaker 5: you kind of tense up. And so you start guarding
- 11:26Speaker 5: more for one. Sometimes as time goes by, the knee
- 11:29Speaker 5: or whatever we're looking at might swell. It might get
- 11:31Speaker 5: a little bit more stiff. They're starting to feel more
- 11:33Speaker 5: and more of the pain because the adrenaline is wearing off.
- 11:35Speaker 5: So sometimes you get your best evaluation in those first
- 11:37Speaker 5: few minutes, whether it's on the field or when we
- 11:39Speaker 5: bring them.
- 11:39Speaker 6: Into the tent.
- 11:40Speaker 5: So sometimes a, we were wanting to try and get
- 11:42Speaker 5: that quick eval. So we already have an idea of
- 11:44Speaker 5: what we think it is. You know, sometimes it's obvious.
- 11:47Speaker 5: Sometimes you can tell, you know, if you get a
- 11:48Speaker 5: knee and you're testing that ACL and it's just wide open,
- 11:51Speaker 5: super loose. And it's just like, dadgummit, this guy tore
- 11:53Speaker 5: his ACL.
- 11:54Speaker 6: Other times it's a little bit iffy. It's not so obvious,
- 11:56Speaker 6: you know, and, and, And then.
- 11:58Speaker 5: Part of it is, you know, we want to make
- 11:59Speaker 5: sure that we treat it immediately the way it needs
- 12:01Speaker 5: to be, because if we're worried about a more serious,
- 12:03Speaker 5: you know, they break something where they shouldn't put weight
- 12:05Speaker 5: on it. Is it something that maybe had a full
- 12:07Speaker 5: knee dislocation, which is more of a medical emergency. So
- 12:10Speaker 5: you want to get that initially vow to know, Hey,
- 12:12Speaker 5: can I get this guy up? Is it okay to
- 12:13Speaker 5: walk them off the field or do we need to
- 12:15Speaker 5: get the cart? And also, so you can already kind
- 12:16Speaker 5: of start planning what your, your message is going to be.
- 12:19Speaker 5: You know, we're never going to tell a guy on
- 12:20Speaker 5: the field, like, Hey, I think you tore your ACL. You,
- 12:23Speaker 5: you know, you want to, you want to say, Hey, look,
- 12:24Speaker 5: let's get you in the tent. Let's take a look
- 12:25Speaker 5: at it. And even then, you know, We still– because
- 12:28Speaker 5: how you package it, that's a big part of this. Because, look,
- 12:31Speaker 5: to your point, this guy, this is– whether it's whoever
- 12:33Speaker 5: you're talking about.
- 12:34Speaker 6: They're at any level. They love what they do. They
- 12:37Speaker 6: don't want to miss a game. They don't want surgery.
- 12:39Speaker 6: Work hard to get to that point.
- 12:40Speaker 5: Yeah, you work so hard, and this is– you're finally
- 12:42Speaker 5: getting to go out there and play. And, man, it's
- 12:44Speaker 5: the worst when you have to tell these guys, you know, hey,
- 12:46Speaker 5: you're going to be out for an extended period. So
- 12:49Speaker 5: it's something we also kind of build into. So, you know,
- 12:51Speaker 5: you might get them in the tent and say, hey, look,
- 12:52Speaker 5: I think this might be a bad injury, but let's
- 12:54Speaker 5: take a look at it.
- 12:55Speaker 6: Let's get some imaging done.
- 12:56Speaker 5: Or if we feel really good about it, we say, hey,
- 12:58Speaker 5: I think we dodged a bullet here. Let's get you
- 12:59Speaker 5: out maybe. And if they look really good, we might
- 13:01Speaker 5: have them go out and do some jogging on the sideline,
- 13:03Speaker 5: do some drills and see how they respond.
- 13:06Speaker 6: So there's a lot of variability.
- 13:07Speaker 5: But, you know, on the field, it's a combination of
- 13:09Speaker 5: let's get a quick idea so we kind of know
- 13:11Speaker 5: what we need to do next and let's make sure
- 13:13Speaker 5: it's safe to move.
- 13:13Speaker 6: And there's a little bit of both.
- 13:14Speaker 7: So, like, on the mobility, sometimes you could feel it
- 13:17Speaker 7: so loose you just automatically know.
- 13:18Speaker 2: Sometimes.
- 13:19Speaker 8: You haven't felt any of those recently.
- 13:21Speaker 6: Well, you know, it happens.
- 13:22Speaker 8: It happens, you know.
- 13:23Speaker 9: So.
- 13:24Speaker 5: Um, but, but, but, you know, look, it's, it's, you know,
- 13:27Speaker 5: you hope that it's not that scenario where you're, you're
- 13:29Speaker 5: immediately aware.
- 13:30Speaker 6: Cause those are those, those, you kind of know.
- 13:31Speaker 4: I mean, it's sometimes, and we were kind of joking
- 13:34Speaker 4: before as well, like with Caleb Williams, bears quarterback, he
- 13:38Speaker 4: went down and it looked like worst case scenario. Now
- 13:41Speaker 4: we didn't really know what it was, but I mean,
- 13:43Speaker 4: he got carded off. He's emotional. He gives the thumbs up.
- 13:46Speaker 8: Have you ever brought the card in for a mild
- 13:48Speaker 8: hamstring pull?
- 13:50Speaker 5: I don't know if we have, um, But I'm not
- 13:53Speaker 5: saying we wouldn't, just to be fair. Because, again, a
- 13:55Speaker 5: lot of it is emotional. These guys, they work so hard.
- 13:58Speaker 6: We've all been there. You know how hard it is
- 14:00Speaker 6: just to get to day one.
- 14:02Speaker 5: And then, especially if you're a guy that's a Caleb
- 14:05Speaker 5: Williams and you're finally playing well, you're a guy like
- 14:07Speaker 5: some of our players that this is their year. This
- 14:10Speaker 5: is your chance to shine, to show out, to be
- 14:12Speaker 5: the best you've ever been. And especially at college level,
- 14:15Speaker 5: if you're a year three guy, you're going to be
- 14:17Speaker 5: better than you are in year one or two. That
- 14:19Speaker 5: growth is so immense at that age. This is my year.
- 14:22Speaker 5: And then all of a sudden you're faced with the
- 14:23Speaker 5: possibility that, no, it's not. And that's awful.
- 14:27Speaker 4: It definitely is. And even if you're out a week,
- 14:30Speaker 4: you feel like that's the worst.
- 14:33Speaker 2: The worst week.
- 14:33Speaker 6: I mean, you know. I mean, you had to set
- 14:35Speaker 6: up big games.
- 14:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:37Speaker 6: SEC championship.
- 14:38Speaker 2: SEC championship game.
- 14:40Speaker 4: I mean, hell, I hated sitting out week 17 in
- 14:43Speaker 4: the NFL when we were already knocked out of the playoffs.
- 14:45Speaker 6: It's not fun. I missed one game.
- 14:47Speaker 5: It was a jamboree my junior year. And I still
- 14:50Speaker 5: remember it. I still remember how just sitting there, I
- 14:53Speaker 5: was just chewing my lip, like wanting to be out there.
- 14:55Speaker 6: And just, it was, I can close my eyes and
- 14:58Speaker 6: feel it now, and I'm old. Yeah, no doubt.
- 15:00Speaker 8: You're not old, Doc.
- 15:01Speaker 6: You're seasoned.
- 15:02Speaker 8: I got to tell you, and this is, you got
- 15:05Speaker 8: to remember, I tell people this a lot.
- 15:06Speaker 6: He's not just some guy.
- 15:07Speaker 8: I'm not just some guy. I'm a male model.
- 15:11Speaker 7: Doc, you were aura farming out there the other day
- 15:14Speaker 7: on the TV.
- 15:15Speaker 8: My God, the hair looked great.
- 15:17Speaker 7: You looked handsome as hell.
- 15:20Speaker 8: My God, I don't like to see you. I don't
- 15:22Speaker 8: want to see you.
- 15:23Speaker 6: I'm with you. I tell people all the time.
- 15:25Speaker 8: But I got to tell you, you're looking pretty good
- 15:27Speaker 8: out there.
- 15:27Speaker 6: Well, I appreciate that.
- 15:29Speaker 5: Don't go out there this week. I want to do
- 15:32Speaker 5: my best. I love being the extra, not one of
- 15:34Speaker 5: the more.
- 15:34Speaker 8: Stay your ass on the sidelines, Doc.
- 15:36Speaker 6: See me in the background, kind of blend it in there.
- 15:38Speaker 6: Fair enough. Hey, Doc, we appreciate it, sir. Thank you.

- 19:13Speaker 4: to those receipts too, people. Those natty back guarantee receipts.
- 19:16Speaker 8: Hold on to them.
- 19:17Speaker 2: You never know.
- 19:19Speaker 6: When else she wins a natty, Sam?
- 19:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:22Speaker 6: Whether they get it.
- 19:23Speaker 2: Like free?
- 19:23Speaker 7: There was a natty back here, too. Like, you bought
- 19:25Speaker 7: it under that promotion.
- 19:28Speaker 2: You get a refund.
- 19:28Speaker 6: Yeah, if you bought it before the season. And they
- 19:31Speaker 6: win the natty. When they win the natty.
- 19:32Speaker 2: When they win the natty.
- 19:33Speaker 8: Get sure for free.
- 19:35Speaker 2: Pretty cool. Hold on to those receipts. That's as good
- 19:39Speaker 2: as mine. I want to hold on to that one.
- 19:44Speaker 2: I owe you.
- 19:47Speaker 6: We did see way too much of Doc last night.
- 19:50Speaker 5: Week.
- 19:50Speaker 2: We did. We did.
- 19:52Speaker 8: Go back.
- 19:52Speaker 2: I don't want to see him again.
- 20:00Speaker 6: Tyro procedure, like your question, it's actually a valid one.
- 20:04Speaker 8: Thank you. I thought so.
- 20:05Speaker 6: One of the very few good questions that you've had recently.
- 20:08Speaker 8: I had to do that segment. dose but like if you.
- 20:11Speaker 4: Have ankle problems and there's people that have ankle issues
- 20:16Speaker 4: yeah no issues you definitely did why would you not
- 20:21Speaker 4: like in february.
- 20:23Speaker 7: Could do that on both ankles yeah just tie these
- 20:27Speaker 7: bones together doc yeah you know what while you're at
- 20:29Speaker 7: it time to my feet.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Bones why would you time to your feet i don't
- 20:35Speaker 2: know make you stronger.
- 20:38Speaker 6: Probably feels like the flexibility would go away at that point.
- 20:40Speaker 8: They got some really cool metals out there.
- 20:43Speaker 10: Yeah, I feel like if you tied your ankles to
- 20:45Speaker 10: your feet, yeah, you wouldn't have a lot of ankle mobility.
- 20:50Speaker 8: Yeah, well, maybe so.
- 20:52Speaker 10: Like if you reinforced it with steel.
- 20:54Speaker 6: Yeah, feels like it would just be like always flipped
- 20:56Speaker 6: up a little bit.
- 20:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:57Speaker 4: Yeah, so you'd be like running on your heel all
- 20:59Speaker 4: the time and your heel would probably take effects from that.
- 21:03Speaker 8: Maybe. You don't know. You don't know what kind of
- 21:06Speaker 8: technology they have out there.
- 21:08Speaker 6: We just had a doctor tell us. Are you saying
- 21:12Speaker 6: you're smarter than Doc?
- 21:14Speaker 8: Well, my brother is a doctor, so.
- 21:16Speaker 6: It's in the blood.
- 21:17Speaker 10: It runs in the family.
- 21:18Speaker 8: It's in the genes.
- 21:19Speaker 6: That's fair. That's fair. Oh, man. Tradez is obviously a
- 21:25Speaker 6: massive loss.
- 21:28Speaker 4: His mom came in on social media and did say
- 21:30Speaker 4: that it was an MCL sprain. I've had one of
- 21:34Speaker 4: those before. It's not even really the pain itself. It's
- 21:38Speaker 4: when you go to cut, when you go to accelerate,
- 21:41Speaker 4: it just doesn't happen. It's almost like it's numb, and
- 21:44Speaker 4: you go to press off that leg, that knee, and
- 21:47Speaker 4: it just doesn't go anywhere. So it's one of those, like,
- 21:50Speaker 4: you can't really tough it out. It's not a toughness situation.
- 21:53Speaker 4: It is one that's got to stabilize itself. It's got
- 21:57Speaker 4: to have time to rest and heal and all those things.
- 22:00Speaker 6: And we know how good trade as green is. Like,
- 22:03Speaker 6: that's the.
- 22:04Speaker 4: Obvious part of this, but it's also.
- 22:08Speaker 6: You don't have anybody else like him and not many
- 22:10Speaker 6: teams do.
- 22:11Speaker 4: So I want to make sure we get that out there,
- 22:13Speaker 4: but even like your backup tight ends, aren't the same
- 22:16Speaker 4: type of player that trade as green is. So like
- 22:19Speaker 4: Zach grace, who we saw, you know, Sam Levitt had
- 22:22Speaker 4: at the goal line there. So we talked about that
- 22:24Speaker 4: in the film review. He's more, I don't want to
- 22:27Speaker 4: say he's a fullback. He's, he's more athletic than that,
- 22:29Speaker 4: but he is like an H back where he's kind
- 22:31Speaker 4: of a hybrid guy. He is going to be a
- 22:33Speaker 4: guy that can put his hand in the dirt, be
- 22:35Speaker 4: a Y tight end that's attached to the tackle and,
- 22:38Speaker 4: He's going to be in some different positions lined up
- 22:40Speaker 4: in the backfield. But he's not going to be the
- 22:42Speaker 4: same guy splitting out into the slot, trade-ass wise. And
- 22:46Speaker 4: trade-ass has gotten really good as a blocker, too.
- 22:48Speaker 8: Really good. Really effective. And he has not been afraid.
- 22:52Speaker 6: You're losing a lot when you lose trade-ass green.
- 22:55Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 22:57Speaker 7: I think one of the best surprises, and maybe it
- 23:01Speaker 7: shouldn't be a surprise, has been his ability to block.
- 23:05Speaker 7: his willingness to block, and the amount they've used him to,
- 23:09Speaker 7: whether it's cutting off the backside end, whether it's lead
- 23:13Speaker 7: blocking to the second level, whether it's just one-on-one with
- 23:16Speaker 7: a defensive end or an edge rusher, he has, they
- 23:21Speaker 7: have used him quite often. And pass protection, sometimes, I
- 23:26Speaker 7: don't like pass protection with one of your best targets,
- 23:29Speaker 7: but when he's had to do it, he's done it effectively.
- 23:32Speaker 7: So you are going to miss that. aspect of his game,
- 23:35Speaker 7: which also helps him get open. That's why tight ends
- 23:38Speaker 7: are so highly valued at the NFL level now, because
- 23:41Speaker 7: they do create hesitation from linebackers and safeties who do
- 23:45Speaker 7: have to cover him because there's the threat to block.
- 23:47Speaker 7: There's a threat to go into a route. So it
- 23:53Speaker 7: is a big loss, and, yes, the depth there is
- 23:57Speaker 7: in question. But you know what? That's why we've got
- 24:01Speaker 7: a very high-paid offensive coaching staff. is to adjust and
- 24:05Speaker 7: adapt to these scenarios.
- 24:07Speaker 8: And, you know, are you going to be, you know,
- 24:11Speaker 8: is it going to look the same? No.
- 24:12Speaker 7: Offensively, I expect some things to be a little bit different,
- 24:14Speaker 7: but you are. You've got to have a next man
- 24:16Speaker 7: up mentality a little bit to a certain extent, but
- 24:19Speaker 7: you also have to put your offense in the best position,
- 24:22Speaker 7: which right now is being out. You do have to
- 24:24Speaker 7: put yourself in the best position to get your best
- 24:27Speaker 7: playmakers the ball. So maybe we see a little bit
- 24:31Speaker 7: more 10 personnel. Maybe we see, I don't know, maybe
- 24:35Speaker 7: you see 20. I have no idea.
- 24:38Speaker 4: So for our listeners, 20 personnel is going to be
- 24:41Speaker 4: two backs, three receivers. Ten personnel is going to be
- 24:44Speaker 4: one back, four receivers. And so you're taking the tight
- 24:48Speaker 4: end kind of out of the game plan there. I
- 24:50Speaker 4: always love 20 personnel. A little pony package is what
- 24:53Speaker 4: we called it. I thought it was always really good.
- 24:56Speaker 4: You can be in gun, split backs, have three receivers
- 25:00Speaker 4: out in the route. Clears up a lot of protection stuff, too.
- 25:03Speaker 4: One bat can stay in. The other can scat. Kind
- 25:05Speaker 4: of free release. So, I like that.
- 25:08Speaker 6: Like, I don't know how on the fly you can
- 25:10Speaker 6: do with that, but.
- 25:11Speaker 7: I'm sure Lane's listening. So, Lane, just do a little 20.
- 25:13Speaker 7: A little bit of 20.
- 25:16Speaker 6: Every time I see him, I try to talk about
- 25:18Speaker 6: 21 personnel.
- 25:19Speaker 2: I hadn't done it yet, though. You want 22. Oh,
- 25:24Speaker 2: I love 22.
- 25:27Speaker 8: Nothing gets the juices flowing like 22 personnel.
- 25:29Speaker 2: Yeah. With a clap count.
- 25:33Speaker 6: Yeah, two backs, two tight ends.
- 25:36Speaker 11: Still don't know how we got the defense to jump
- 25:38Speaker 11: off sides more. It's such a good fake. It's like
- 25:45Speaker 11: the elbow. They, like, swirl the elbows when they fake clap.
- 25:54Speaker 4: I'm trying to find Zach Grace's career stats, and I'm
- 25:59Speaker 4: having a hard time.
- 26:01Speaker 8: On the internet?
- 26:02Speaker 2: On the internet.
- 26:05Speaker 3: Did you ask?
- 26:06Speaker 6: I've seen a lot of participation.
- 26:07Speaker 8: Did you ask George Paul Thomas?
- 26:09Speaker 6: Not yet. No, I was trying to do my own research.
- 26:14Speaker 3: Why? Why?
- 26:17Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 26:17Speaker 6: Because I want it to be factual? I don't know.
- 26:22Speaker 2: That's a shot to George.
- 26:24Speaker 6: I mean, not all of it's, I mean. All right.
- 26:29Speaker 10: I have some stuff.
- 26:30Speaker 6: Okay, you have actual stats?
- 26:32Speaker 10: From Oregon?
- 26:33Speaker 6: Yes.
- 26:35Speaker 10: As a redshirt freshman, he appeared in 10 games.
- 26:38Speaker 9: Okay.
- 26:38Speaker 10: He played 41 snaps on offense.
- 26:41Speaker 2: Okay.
- 26:41Speaker 10: 20 in the backfield as a fullback.
- 26:43Speaker 6: You're seeing the same I'm seeing.
- 26:45Speaker 9: Okay.
- 26:45Speaker 10: 74 pass blocking grade from PFF.
- 26:47Speaker 6: Are you noticing the other thing that I'm seeing?
- 26:50Speaker 10: The fullback?
- 26:51Speaker 9: No.
- 26:51Speaker 6: 2024, 10 games played, no receptions. 2025, 14 games played,
- 26:54Speaker 6: no receptions.
- 26:54Speaker 4: 2026... Two games played, two targets, no receptions.
- 27:04Speaker 8: Who is this again?
- 27:05Speaker 10: Zach Grace.
- 27:05Speaker 2: 44, the guy in the end.
- 27:06Speaker 6: The backup. Backup tight end, the guy in the end zone.
- 27:08Speaker 8: He was a fullback. He looked very much like him.
- 27:12Speaker 10: He took snaps as one.
- 27:13Speaker 2: I love that.
- 27:15Speaker 6: I'm not seeing a career catch.
- 27:16Speaker 10: In Oregon, not one.
- 27:18Speaker 8: Yet.
- 27:19Speaker 10: I mean, he didn't have one in the game.
- 27:21Speaker 2: He's going to catch for two touchdowns this week.
- 27:22Speaker 9: Watch. Watch.
- 27:24Speaker 6: I think so.
- 27:24Speaker 2: I hope so.
- 27:25Speaker 10: Okay, on that note, somebody texted and they said, is
- 27:27Speaker 10: it just me, but every time Matt predicts LSU winning something,
- 27:30Speaker 10: we lose?
- 27:30Speaker 8: I predict him every week.
- 27:32Speaker 10: So you're going to get like zero receptions from Zach Grace.
- 27:36Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 27:36Speaker 6: He's going to have negative two receptions first in the
- 27:39Speaker 6: history of football.
- 27:40Speaker 2: Wide receiver screen first play to him.
- 27:42Speaker 6: Just to get him in the game?
- 27:43Speaker 2: Just get him involved in the game plan. Yep.
- 27:47Speaker 9: Oh, boy.
- 27:48Speaker 10: Now Malachi Thomas at Pitt. Last year had 13.
- 27:54Speaker 6: Okay. That's 13 times more than Zach had.
- 27:58Speaker 10: He had two the year before.
- 27:59Speaker 6: That's two times more.
- 28:01Speaker 10: 15 total receptions. Only started once at Pitt.
- 28:06Speaker 8: Well, honestly, guys, this is why you bring in 25 receivers.
- 28:11Speaker 6: We did see.
- 28:11Speaker 8: This is one of the reasons.
- 28:15Speaker 4: Roman Mothershed did come in and kind of play the
- 28:17Speaker 4: F in that last play. He was the crosser that
- 28:20Speaker 4: got the ball thrown to him way too soon. Should
- 28:23Speaker 4: have waited to get inside the tackle box.
- 28:25Speaker 10: And he's a receiver that they moved to tight end.
- 28:27Speaker 6: Yeah, he's like 210, 215. Bigger body. Hey, what do
- 28:33Speaker 6: they say? It takes a village, right?
- 28:35Speaker 10: It takes a village. Tight end by committee. You could
- 28:43Speaker 10: really use a Daquan Wright right now.
- 28:45Speaker 8: What is the F again to you? That's a receiving
- 28:47Speaker 8: tight end?
- 28:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:49Speaker 6: And the Y is a block. And H is a
- 28:54Speaker 6: tight end fullback.
- 28:55Speaker 2: I still can't wrap my head around this. Why?
- 28:57Speaker 6: It's the F in the offense. Like, regardless of who
- 29:02Speaker 6: it is, the F could have been Gates. It could
- 29:03Speaker 6: have been me.
- 29:04Speaker 2: It could have been.
- 29:04Speaker 6: And that's a fullback?
- 29:06Speaker 12: No.
- 29:07Speaker 6: It's just the position on the team.
- 29:08Speaker 4: But what does he do? Lines up where the F does. Like,
- 29:11Speaker 4: in double formation, like double right, I'm in the slot
- 29:14Speaker 4: to the left. Tripp's right.
- 29:16Speaker 6: I'm in the inside on the right.
- 29:18Speaker 8: Why would you ever line up as a receiver?
- 29:20Speaker 9: You.
- 29:21Speaker 6: I did it all the time in San Diego, like
- 29:24Speaker 6: in double.
- 29:26Speaker 7: I was just going to take a shot at you
- 29:28Speaker 7: and your little legs.
- 29:30Speaker 6: Your little legs. But for real, what is the body
- 29:34Speaker 6: type of an F? See, in that offense, it wasn't
- 29:38Speaker 6: a body type. It was the position.
- 29:40Speaker 2: Because.
- 29:40Speaker 8: It's just personnel group.
- 29:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:42Speaker 4: Norv wanted everybody. So, in 12 personnel, if you ran
- 29:45Speaker 4: double right, the F's same position. If we're in 21 personnel,
- 29:49Speaker 4: double right.
- 29:49Speaker 9: Okay.
- 29:50Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
- 29:51Speaker 6: So, the F was more, it was, it was built in. Actually,
- 29:53Speaker 6: Denver was the same way, too.
- 29:55Speaker 8: I feel like only one of my offenses kept the
- 29:58Speaker 8: same five letters.
- 29:59Speaker 2: Was it a West Coast offense?
- 30:01Speaker 9: No.
- 30:02Speaker 2: What was it?
- 30:02Speaker 6: Was it a number system?
- 30:03Speaker 8: It was the Raiders, I think. It wasn't a good offense.
- 30:05Speaker 6: Don't act like the Raiders did anything.
- 30:07Speaker 9: No.
- 30:08Speaker 8: No, I didn't like that.
- 30:09Speaker 6: I loved it. It told everybody what to do. There's
- 30:12Speaker 6: a lot on the quarterback.
- 30:14Speaker 8: So the offenses that don't do that don't know what to.
- 30:18Speaker 9: Do?
- 30:19Speaker 4: I'm saying it told, like, if you had a missed
- 30:21Speaker 4: assignment in this offense, you're a dum-dum. Because it told
- 30:25Speaker 4: everybody what to do. Well, so does every offense. No, but, like,
- 30:29Speaker 4: your offense that you're talking about could be a code word,
- 30:31Speaker 4: and you can be like, if you don't know the
- 30:32Speaker 4: code word.
- 30:33Speaker 8: No, it's not a code word. Just like your personal, like,
- 30:35Speaker 8: the letters change. Like, a receiver would never.
- 30:38Speaker 3: Be an F.
- 30:38Speaker 4: But I know what you're saying, but this one would
- 30:40Speaker 4: be double right would be the formation, key left would
- 30:43Speaker 4: be the protection, and then literally 9-2-2-9, and then you
- 30:47Speaker 4: tag the H. So you literally know by the number.
- 30:50Speaker 2: I'm so glad I didn't play with you all.
- 30:51Speaker 9: I love it.
- 30:52Speaker 2: So happy.
- 30:53Speaker 6: Told everybody what to do.
- 30:55Speaker 8: So does every play.
- 30:56Speaker 6: No, but you know what I mean.
- 30:58Speaker 3: No, I don't.
- 30:58Speaker 6: You can do concept and dum-dum on the outsides like, uh,
- 31:02Speaker 6: what do I got?
- 31:02Speaker 4: This tells you what you got. Like I said, it's
- 31:07Speaker 4: a lot of heavy lifting for the quarterback. Verbiage is
- 31:10Speaker 4: pretty long. I mean, our verbiage was not short. Told
- 31:13Speaker 4: everybody what to do, though.
- 31:15Speaker 6: You're being hard-headed.
- 31:17Speaker 4: I'm not saying mine was right as far as the
- 31:19Speaker 4: way to do it, but I'm telling you, that's why
- 31:21Speaker 4: we did it.
- 31:22Speaker 6: That is a.
- 31:25Speaker 4: North Turner, Dallas Cowboys, Super Bowl three-time three-peat champion.
- 31:31Speaker 10: Three-peat?
- 31:32Speaker 6: That's when that offense started. Three's up. I'm sure you
- 31:35Speaker 6: celebrated for that offense, buddy. I'm sure you liked the
- 31:37Speaker 6: Cowboys growing up.
- 31:38Speaker 8: I'll take it all back.
- 31:39Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 31:40Speaker 6: All right, we'll take a break. More OTB when we

- 35:02Speaker 6: I thought quarterbacks were supposed to pat their chest no
- 35:03Speaker 6: matter what.
- 35:05Speaker 2: You're right.
- 35:05Speaker 8: That's on me. I'm a business owner. Technology is my thing,
- 35:10Speaker 8: you know?
- 35:11Speaker 6: I'm going to say this, and I don't want you
- 35:12Speaker 6: to get your feelings hurt. What if you would have
- 35:16Speaker 6: sent it at 810 and not 840?
- 35:17Speaker 2: Um....
- 35:25Speaker 7: I like dealing with things that actually happened, not unrealistic
- 35:28Speaker 7: things like that, Jake.
- 35:31Speaker 2: All right, fair enough.
- 35:32Speaker 6: We'll do your top ten quarterbacks.
- 35:35Speaker 8: At nine?
- 35:36Speaker 6: No, we can do them in the next segment. We'll
- 35:37Speaker 6: take a break, you know, on time.
- 35:39Speaker 9: Oh.
- 35:40Speaker 6: Then we can do it in the last segment.
- 35:41Speaker 2: I think that's fair.
- 35:45Speaker 6: Just go ahead and rip the Band-Aid off. Which one's
- 35:48Speaker 6: going to piss us off the most?
- 35:51Speaker 7: I don't think any of them should piss you off.
- 35:54Speaker 7: I think my list last week was fantastic. This one
- 35:59Speaker 7: might even be better. No, we don't need to do
- 36:04Speaker 7: that right now. Oh, we're not doing it right now, bro.
- 36:08Speaker 6: What are we doing?
- 36:09Speaker 4: We're going to take a break on time, like in
- 36:11Speaker 4: a minute and a half, and then we'll come back.
- 36:13Speaker 6: Because I didn't know that we would get it in
- 36:14Speaker 6: this segment.
- 36:15Speaker 9: Okay.
- 36:15Speaker 4: And I wanted Flynn to have enough time to explain
- 36:18Speaker 4: himself whenever he makes us mad.
- 36:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:20Speaker 6: Sure. You're coming up in a second.
- 36:22Speaker 8: You shouldn't get mad. This is a perfect list.
- 36:24Speaker 7: And it's probably one of the greatest honors of these
- 36:26Speaker 7: quarterbacks' life is to make it on the world.
- 36:29Speaker 6: Probably not.
- 36:32Speaker 8: And this plays a really big part in who gets
- 36:34Speaker 8: the My High Zero.
- 36:35Speaker 10: Player of the Year.
- 36:36Speaker 2: Player of the Year at the.
- 36:37Speaker 6: End of the year.
- 36:38Speaker 8: Pepsi doesn't, so we're going to do it too.
- 36:41Speaker 6: Is that how it started?
- 36:42Speaker 8: Yeah, because who got, somebody got.
- 36:45Speaker 6: Chuck.
- 36:46Speaker 8: Chuck got the Diet Pepsi. Pepsi Zero. Pepsi Zero. Pepsi Zero.
- 36:51Speaker 6: Player of the Year.
- 36:52Speaker 2: Player of the Year.
- 36:53Speaker 6: Rookie of the Year.
- 36:54Speaker 10: Rookie of the year.
- 36:54Speaker 6: That's a lot of heavy lifting.
- 36:57Speaker 10: So we gave him the my high.
- 36:59Speaker 2: Obviously, we responded. Had to.
- 37:03Speaker 6: You didn't have a choice?
- 37:05Speaker 2: Back was against the wall.
- 37:09Speaker 6: Did drip drop have one too? No.
- 37:12Speaker 8: That's not real company. Stuff will kill you.
- 37:21Speaker 10: Sometimes I see electrolytes, and I'm like, there's no way
- 37:23Speaker 10: that you actually do anything.
- 37:25Speaker 8: Yeah, me too. Oh, yeah. Most are like that. I
- 37:29Speaker 8: call that expensive pee that you're buying.
- 37:34Speaker 6: We're not buying that. We leave it on the shelf, bud.
- 37:37Speaker 2: Oh, you leave it?
- 37:37Speaker 8: Well, a lot of people do. They buy that expensive pee.
- 37:40Speaker 8: They love it.
- 37:41Speaker 7: Oh, look at all this stuff. Look at all these
- 37:43Speaker 7: things that are in this product.
- 37:45Speaker 2: Look at us do it. Yes, that's doing something.
- 37:47Speaker 6: It's pee.
- 37:48Speaker 7: Yeah, it's not going to your, doing what you think
- 37:51Speaker 7: it is. You're not metabolizing that. You're just peeing that out.
- 37:57Speaker 6: On that note.
- 37:58Speaker 4: All right, so we'll take a break. We'll come back.
- 37:59Speaker 4: We've got the top 10 list ready to go. We'll
- 38:03Speaker 4: get through it here. We'll yell at Flynn when we

- 39:25Speaker 1: Welcome back to Off the Bench. Wednesday's show is brought
- 39:28Speaker 1: to you by Poncho.
- 39:29Speaker 3: You don't believe his stories. You know that there are lies.
- 39:47Speaker 3: Bad as you are. You stick around and I just
- 39:50Speaker 3: don't know why.
- 39:51Speaker 12: If I was your man, baby, you'd never worry about
- 39:55Speaker 12: what I'd do.
- 39:56Speaker 3: I'd be coming home back to you.
- 39:59Speaker 6: All right, welcome back in, OTB. Shout out to.
- 40:06Speaker 3: Mario.
- 40:08Speaker 4: And no shout out to Matt Flynn because I know
- 40:10Speaker 4: this quarterback list is going to piss me off.
- 40:14Speaker 8: Phillip Rivers is not on it.
- 40:16Speaker 6: It would have been last year, maybe. That one week. Yeah.
- 40:22Speaker 6: Against the world champions.
- 40:23Speaker 2: Pretty nimble.
- 40:24Speaker 6: Hey, it was never nimble, so.
- 40:27Speaker 3: All right.
- 40:28Speaker 8: Let's get to it.
- 40:28Speaker 6: Let's get mad at Matt Flynn's top 10 NFL quarterbacks.
- 40:32Speaker 8: All right. Do we have some NFL music?
- 40:34Speaker 6: Yeah, I got it. I forgot it. My bad.
- 40:35Speaker 2: That's okay.
- 40:37Speaker 8: Don't worry about it.
- 40:37Speaker 10: We're super professional.
- 40:40Speaker 3: We're on the phone.
- 40:41Speaker 8: Week two. top quarterback list in the NFL. Look, check
- 40:46Speaker 8: this out. New part of the graphic kicked out of
- 40:49Speaker 8: the top 10.
- 40:50Speaker 6: These pictures are so bad.
- 40:52Speaker 7: My God, George Paul Thomas cannot put their real pictures out.
- 40:56Speaker 7: So just outside of the top 10, Caleb Williams, you're out.
- 41:00Speaker 7: You were number two last week. That's what you get
- 41:01Speaker 7: for faking an injury. Give it a thumbs up. You
- 41:04Speaker 7: look great in the mustache.
- 41:05Speaker 6: So it was number two last week.
- 41:08Speaker 8: He's actually out because of injury. I got two people
- 41:10Speaker 8: out for injury, Caleb and Mr. Jackson Dartley.
- 41:12Speaker 2: That picture.
- 41:13Speaker 8: Most standard-looking white guy. Jared Goff, you're also out. Trevor Lawrence,
- 41:17Speaker 8: you're out.
- 41:18Speaker 6: Wow. Who's in?
- 41:21Speaker 8: That also means they're on the boat. Well, we're about
- 41:22Speaker 8: to find out.
- 41:23Speaker 7: Number 10, Drew Locke, backup quarterback, Seattle Seahawks.
- 41:27Speaker 10: I put on for my, oh, yeah.
- 41:29Speaker 7: I mean, come on, our guy. And he also has
- 41:32Speaker 7: tiny hands as well.
- 41:33Speaker 6: I didn't notice.
- 41:35Speaker 8: Well, don't you remember that coming out of college?
- 41:37Speaker 6: I just remember a celebration when he was at Mizzou.
- 41:39Speaker 9: Yep.
- 41:40Speaker 7: Well, anyway, the dude's playing his face off right now.
- 41:43Speaker 7: And guess what? 48 to 77, 556 yards.
- 41:47Speaker 8: Four tutters. A couple of picks.
- 41:49Speaker 6: Also 120 yards rushing.
- 41:51Speaker 7: So he's playing really well. The Seahawks, very good. So
- 41:54Speaker 7: he's a benefactor of that. I don't care. He's playing
- 41:57Speaker 7: really good. So I showed him a little backup quarterback
- 41:59Speaker 7: respect at number 10. All right, let's go to number nine.
- 42:04Speaker 7: Somewhere out there, Taylor Sharp is smiling.
- 42:07Speaker 8: Dak Prescott.
- 42:08Speaker 6: Actually, he doesn't like Dak. Because he's an idiot when
- 42:11Speaker 6: it comes to quarterbacks. We love you, though.
- 42:13Speaker 7: Well, your quarterback for the Cowboys is in the top
- 42:16Speaker 7: ten list this week. And that played really good last week.
- 42:18Speaker 7: I mean, he's got 600. He's got a lot of passes.
- 42:21Speaker 6: This picture's not doing him any justice.
- 42:25Speaker 9: No.
- 42:27Speaker 6: Are these, like. These are AI pictures.
- 42:31Speaker 7: I think this is wrong, too. Come on, George Paul
- 42:34Speaker 7: Thomas on his stats. He doesn't have that many yards.
- 42:37Speaker 7: But he is playing really well.
- 42:39Speaker 8: He does have good receivers.
- 42:41Speaker 6: All right, let's go to number eight. Lamar Jackson.
- 42:45Speaker 8: That picture's bad.
- 42:46Speaker 2: That picture's bad.
- 42:47Speaker 8: Lamar Jackson.
- 42:48Speaker 6: These AI picks.
- 42:49Speaker 8: These AI picks are brutal.
- 42:51Speaker 6: Down five.
- 42:52Speaker 8: He slips five spots.
- 42:54Speaker 7: To number eight. But you know what? He's still Lamar Jackson.
- 42:57Speaker 7: Two-time MVP. Only 29 years old. Only a couple years
- 43:01Speaker 7: older than Trinidad Chambliss himself.
- 43:05Speaker 6: We're only a couple years older.
- 43:06Speaker 2: That's good.
- 43:06Speaker 8: Number eight, Lamar Jackson. He's the guy.
- 43:08Speaker 7: I don't have to really explain it to you, but
- 43:10Speaker 7: you're going to lose to the Saints. You're going to
- 43:12Speaker 7: fall five spots. Sorry about it. He's going to be
- 43:15Speaker 7: jumping all over the place all year long. All right,
- 43:17Speaker 7: let's go to number seven.
- 43:19Speaker 3: New to the list, Mr.
- 43:20Speaker 8: Joey Bates.
- 43:22Speaker 6: Sir Joseph. Joe Burrow.
- 43:25Speaker 8: Man, Cincinnati looks good. Guess what? They got a defense.
- 43:29Speaker 7: They got a team around Sir Joseph Burrow. Me thinks
- 43:33Speaker 7: he's going to have a good year.
- 43:35Speaker 10: Me thinks so, too.
- 43:37Speaker 8: Me thinks so, too.
- 43:38Speaker 6: Me thinks Alondra likes Joe Burrow. I love him.
- 43:43Speaker 7: If Joe Burrow is healthy, he's got a team around him.
- 43:46Speaker 7: He's going to be in the top ten list all
- 43:49Speaker 7: year long.
- 43:50Speaker 6: Him and Lamar.
- 43:52Speaker 10: Or him and Jamar.
- 43:54Speaker 8: Y'all ready?
- 43:55Speaker 2: Hey!
- 43:56Speaker 3: There he is.
- 43:57Speaker 8: I told y'all that I bucked.
- 43:59Speaker 3: You do buck.
- 44:00Speaker 8: I buck for Shuck.
- 44:01Speaker 6: I take it back. If you don't give a damn,
- 44:02Speaker 6: we don't give a shuck.
- 44:03Speaker 8: He has got a brutal AI photo as well.
- 44:06Speaker 10: That's awesome.
- 44:06Speaker 2: Number six, Tyler Shuck.
- 44:07Speaker 10: That looks like Taysom Hill.
- 44:08Speaker 8: Leading the league in passing yards.
- 44:10Speaker 6: Like an Irish Taysom Hill.
- 44:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:11Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 44:12Speaker 6: Yes, George Paul Thomas, a.k.a.
- 44:15Speaker 7: GPT, got Dak's numbers wrong right here. Tyler Shuck leads
- 44:18Speaker 7: the NFL in passing yards. And he is the second
- 44:21Speaker 7: half king.
- 44:23Speaker 2: He's killing it. Crush it.
- 44:24Speaker 7: All right, let's go to the top five because we
- 44:25Speaker 7: are running out of time.
- 44:26Speaker 6: We're going to go five here. Then we're going to
- 44:28Speaker 6: come back and we'll give you the other five. You
- 44:30Speaker 6: messed that up.
- 44:31Speaker 8: I did?
- 44:32Speaker 6: Yeah, you could have radio teased that.
- 44:35Speaker 10: I think all these stats are wrong.
- 44:37Speaker 6: By the way.
- 44:37Speaker 8: No, well, I told George Paul Thomas to double check.
- 44:41Speaker 10: George Paul Thomas did not double check.
- 44:43Speaker 6: Number five.
- 44:43Speaker 3: Number five.
- 44:44Speaker 10: But it's okay.
- 44:45Speaker 6: Number five.
- 44:45Speaker 8: And he is number five. Jalen Hurts.
- 44:48Speaker 2: All right. I mean, I did it last week, too.
- 44:50Speaker 7: I'm just probably going to troll everybody and put him
- 44:52Speaker 7: at five every week just because Chris Canty always says
- 44:56Speaker 7: he's not five.
- 44:57Speaker 6: Well, he is. But he is.
- 44:58Speaker 8: I mean, he's a competitor. He's a winner.
- 44:59Speaker 6: I think I know who number four is.
- 45:01Speaker 8: Go to number four.
- 45:03Speaker 6: Matthew Stafford.
- 45:04Speaker 8: Is that right?
- 45:05Speaker 6: God.
- 45:06Speaker 4: Well, I knew he wasn't going to be top three.
- 45:07Speaker 4: If he was, this list was already going to be
- 45:10Speaker 4: thrown out.
- 45:11Speaker 7: Matthew Stafford is the absolute man. He's got 427 all-time
- 45:16Speaker 7: passing touchdowns. I think that puts him number six in
- 45:19Speaker 7: the NFL history books in touchdown passes.
- 45:23Speaker 2: He's a man.
- 45:24Speaker 7: Devontae Adams went off, so love it. If he plays well,
- 45:27Speaker 7: he's going to be on my list because I'm a fan.
- 45:29Speaker 10: Number three. All of these are.
- 45:32Speaker 2: Shut up, Alondra.
- 45:33Speaker 8: Number three, Brock Purdy. Brock Purdy, you are the man, dude.
- 45:39Speaker 7: I was familiar with your game, but I wasn't familiar
- 45:41Speaker 7: with all that game that you got outside the pocket.
- 45:44Speaker 7: The guy's playing awesome. And watch out. If they can
- 45:47Speaker 7: stay healthy, him, Kyle Shanahan, ooh, they might make a
- 45:49Speaker 7: little run.
- 45:50Speaker 8: Go to number two. Patrick Mahomes, you're awesome. He's the man.
- 45:55Speaker 8: And number one, Josh Allen.
- 45:58Speaker 6: Surprise, surprise, Lance Harper.
- 46:00Speaker 7: Josh Allen, 20th all-time in NFL rushing touchdowns with 81.
- 46:06Speaker 8: All right. 20th on the list.
- 46:07Speaker 6: Here's what we're going to do.
- 46:08Speaker 7: At what point is that going to piss people off
- 46:10Speaker 7: when he eclipses the best running backs of all time?
- 46:13Speaker 6: He already has. A lot of them. All right. Here's
- 46:16Speaker 6: what we're going to do. All right. Let's do a
- 46:18Speaker 6: little OTB mailbag since we missed it yesterday. People called
- 46:20Speaker 6: us out. We'll do that.
- 46:22Speaker 4: We'll also yell at you for your quarterback list. We
- 46:24Speaker 4: want to spend some time yelling at you about your
- 46:26Speaker 4: quarterback list. We'll start off our number three of OTB
- 46:29Speaker 4: doing that. Get those questions in. Hashtag OTB mailbag.
- 46:33Speaker 1: Off the bench.
- 46:35Speaker 6: And also go to Bayou Automotive.
