- 0:05In my time as a military officer, I was assigned to an area in
- 0:09Mexico, located on the border with the United States. Our mission was clear,
- 0:14to monitor and combat any attempt to traffic drugs and people. I was
- 0:20assigned to the night reconnaissance squadron and every night we patrolled the perimeter studying the
- 0:26loneliness of the desert landscape. Since I joined the army, not only did
- 0:31I find a new family among my companions, but I also discovered a fraternity.
- 0:37My litters, people who, with time and shared experiences, had become
- 0:42great friends. They enjoyed their work as much as I did. It was
- 0:48not just a job, it was a vocation, a call that all of
- 0:54us longed to respond for the good of our country. Despite the distance that
- 0:58separated me from my family, I was fulfilling a dream, since my childhood
- 1:02I had always dreamed of a life of service, the discipline and dedication that
- 1:07the military career represents, serving my country, defending our values and protecting our
- 1:12citizens. We' d been in that area for several years. We knew
- 1:19the environment already very well. At that time we managed to arrest numerous drug
- 1:26traffickers, imposing law and order in a world that often seemed overflowing with chaos.
- 1:33But one of our most heartbreaking discoveries was that of a trailer full of
- 1:38people. An unscrupulous coyote was taking these people to the United States in search
- 1:45of a better life Unfortunately, the trip turned out to be fatal to some
- 1:51of them. Ten people suffocated by the lack of oxygen, killed by the
- 1:57absence of food and water, were in conns entrances inside the trailer. Among
- 2:02the victims, what broke our heart was to discover that two of them will
- 2:07be just children, their lives truncated before they could flourish. It is a
- 2:13sad reality that many people in Mexico trust the coyotes to cross the border in
- 2:19the hope of fulfilling the American dream, despite being fully aware of the illegality
- 2:23and immorality of these actions somewhere. Within me I understand your desperation to know
- 2:31the conditions of extreme poverty that prevail in some parts of Mexico. The heartbreaking
- 2:38reality of hungry children makes you question why they do things. These people are
- 2:45looking for a better future for their families, one that they can provide for
- 2:49their children without the constant fear of poverty and despair. Although the method they
- 2:54choose is illegal and dangerous, the need for a better life is something you
- 2:59can all understand. On the battlefield of justice. We face these realities on
- 3:07a daily basis in an attempt to maintain law and security. We also encounter
- 3:12humanity in its most vulnerable moments. It is a balance that forces us to
- 3:17always remember our own humanity. While we served the country, despite many experiences
- 3:23that we had experienced in the field of service, we also found paranormal experiences
- 3:29with a lot of meaning, since we were basically in a desert site where
- 3:35the darkness was much deeper than anywhere else. Being alone in that place at
- 3:40night was a constant battle to find out that it was real and not,
- 3:45since sometimes the shadows and sounds were different, much more strange and sinister.
- 3:52One of those nights happened to us that as we watched the area, as
- 3:55always, we were able to hear strange sounds. It was like a lot
- 4:00of people murmured. My colleagues and I thought maybe it was people doing bad
- 4:05things, trying to hide, we lit up the perimeter with the flashlights,
- 4:13but we couldn' t see anything. We went around. But nothing.
- 4:16The murmurs stopped, but we knew that did not mean that there was no
- 4:21one anymore. We had to investigate who had provoked those sounds and catch them
- 4:28if they were doing anything that would harm the integrity of the country or its
- 4:30individuals. We went back to check the area and after some bushes, we
- 4:36could see something. Before our bewildered eyes. An unimaginable scene unfolded. A
- 4:43group of individuals in dark robes were gathered around a circle drawn on the ground,
- 4:48adorned with sinister symbols, with an open book, incense and black candles.
- 4:56They mumbled incomprehensible words and made SNS movement that were done in rituals,
- 5:00bringing to life a ceremony of black magic that seemed to challenge natural laws.
- 5:08We found ourselves imprisoned by a chill that ran through every inch of our body.
- 5:13Watching captured by fear and amazement, hooded men seemed to be invoking some
- 5:18demonic entity. We could hear them saying quietly give us a life of wealth.
- 5:26My lord was the only thing we heard clearly, for the rest said
- 5:30it even lower and seemed to be another language. With every word they said,
- 5:36the air got colder and zucchini. The bones and silhouettes of the creatures
- 5:41seemed to twist and distort with every passing minute. Fear dams. We knew
- 5:47that we should do something despite our fear, so we looked at each other
- 5:51and nodded with our heads claiming that we were all willing to proceed. We
- 5:59introduced ourselves before people dressed in robes and told them that it was forbidden to
- 6:03do such rituals. There they gave us a look full of hatred and resentment,
- 6:10as if we had seriously offended them. And now I understand that it
- 6:15was so, in that kind of rituals the worst thing is to leave them
- 6:18in half, since something very bad can be triggered. Although that time we
- 6:23were lucky that it didn' t happen to adults, they didn' t
- 6:28say a single word, They left what was there, they walked in line
- 6:32until they got lost in the dark. After a few minutes they heard some
- 6:35diabolical laughter, as if they were mocking us in the distance. All night
- 6:42we heard noises, strange noises, murmurs and we even came to see shadows
- 6:46that were distorted In the shadows, my comrades and I were afraid, but
- 6:53nobody said it out loud We were military and the military are not afraid,
- 6:59so we covered ourselves with pride. Until the end of the night we were
- 7:02distracted by telling good and pleasant things about our pasts. And the next day,
- 7:08when I went to sleep, I dreamt of those people making fun of
- 7:12me, but I tried not to give it any importance. On that occasion
- 7:15we sent to clean up everything about the ritual the next day, but the
- 7:19people who were going to take care of it said that when they arrived there
- 7:24was nothing. That experience was strange and definitely disturbing, for what has to
- 7:30do with the devil is something strong and unpleasant. You can' t play
- 7:33with him or challenge him. But, at the end of the day,
- 7:38it was our job, so we were left with no other and we were
- 7:42grateful that nothing like that happened to us after that and there were no consequences
- 7:48and we never saw those people again and, like that, we lived other
- 7:54terrifying experiences in that desert area, but none like the last one, which
- 7:59was the most fuzzy of the u of the and the best word to describe
- 8:03it is strange, because my eyes had never witnessed anything like that. We
- 8:07' ve all heard stories about the devil, witches, Nahuales, etcetera,
- 8:13but about some subject that resembles what happened to us it' s not very
- 8:16common to hear and that makes me afraid to this day every time I tell
- 8:20it. It was one night, like any other, with the full moon
- 8:28lighting up the desert. Our squadron had gone out as usual, advancing through
- 8:33the dunes with the wind beating our faces. But that night something wasn'
- 8:39t right. A feeling of bad augury began to grow inside me and although
- 8:43I could not put a finger on what it was, I knew something was
- 8:48out of place. We kept moving forward and the feeling of restlessness did not
- 8:54disappear. My colleagues seemed not to notice, continuing the mission as if nothing
- 9:00was happening, but I could not ignore it. It was like a buzz
- 9:05in my ears, a heaviness in my chest and even a desire to vomit.
- 9:11I thought maybe something had hurt me and that' s why I felt
- 9:15bad, but I knew deep down that it wasn' t that, because
- 9:18I' d never felt anything like what I felt that night. After a
- 9:24good time inspecting the area, we saw something weird. In the distance between
- 9:28the dunes. There was a light, a glow, soft and golden that
- 9:33contrasted with the cold moonlight. We stopped watching her from a distance trying to
- 9:41discern what it might be I thought it might be a vehicle or maybe a
- 9:46camp. We decided to approach with caution, with every step we took.
- 9:52The light seemed to become brighter, more intense, and then we began to
- 10:00hear the same low and constant buzzing that resonated in the air. That time
- 10:05my colleagues heard it too. We could see nothing more than the light and
- 10:11buzz growing stronger and stronger. We went there slowly so as not to alert
- 10:18those who were there to our presence. Finally we came to the origin of
- 10:24the light and what we found there left us quite confused. It was a
- 10:30tunnel, a tunnel of an impressive construction, illuminated inside with a warm light.
- 10:37It was not a natural tunnel, but it seemed to have been built
- 10:41with great precision and detail, but it was not that. What left me
- 10:45breathless was the fact that the tunnel spread so far away that we could not
- 10:50see its end. I looked at my companions looking for some explanation on their
- 10:58faces, but we were all as disor arranged, as we had never seen
- 11:03anything like it. There were no records of such a large tunnel in that
- 11:07area. We' d been out there every night and we' d never
- 11:11seen any sign that someone was building something like that. It was completely impossible
- 11:16there. It was not something that was built overnight, but it looked like
- 11:20it had taken months to build. I knew it was not the product of
- 11:26my imagination, as my companions were seeing it too and were just as bewildered.
- 11:33None of us understood how that tunnel had arrived there. One of my
- 11:37colleagues said quietly that maybe we' d never really been there before and that
- 11:43that' s why we hadn' t seen anything. But that was not
- 11:46possible. Since we always watched the whole area. So at some point we
- 11:52should have seen the construction. No one answered, because we all knew it
- 11:58didn' t make sense. After a few minutes, watching the tunnel carefully
- 12:03hidden in the bushes, we saw something terrifying inside him. Inside we could
- 12:09see figures moving clearly we thought they were normal people doing something illegal in that
- 12:16place, but we could not distinguish well by distance. The figures inside the
- 12:22tunnel seemed to be higher than an average human, although at that time we
- 12:28thought it was only a matter of perception, but they moved in a very
- 12:33strange way and nothing more was heard than the strange buzz. For some reason,
- 12:37the light that emitted that place did not resemble any kind of light that
- 12:41I had seen before. It was brighter and weirder. My heart was pounding
- 12:46against my chest, for that was not just a tunnel. It was a
- 12:52clandestine corridor built with precision and a scale that I had never seen before.
- 12:58That' s where they purely kept guns, drugs, or something like that,
- 13:07although something definitely didn' t fit for a while. We were silently
- 13:07watching. Although the tunnel was illuminated, the figures were very deep and it
- 13:15was not possible to distinguish who they were or what they were doing. Despite
- 13:20the darkness, I could see the expressions on the faces of my companions were
- 13:26a mirror of my own, full of amazement and fear. We were all
- 13:31veterans, we had seen a lot of things in our time in the service,
- 13:37but this was something completely different. We knew we were facing something very
- 13:41big and even dangerous. Finally, we had to face it, because it
- 13:48was our job. As we hid in the dunes, seeing the constant flow
- 13:52of figures, I realized that this was much bigger than we could handle alone.
- 13:58We did quote reinforcements, we needed to let our superiors know, but
- 14:05before we kept looking at the tunnel, trying to figure out how many people
- 14:11could be going through there. But as we looked, a feeling of fear
- 14:16grew in me. Although we couldn' t see the faces of the figures,
- 14:20there was something strange about their movement. It was rigid inhuman, as
- 14:26if they were being controlled as puppets. After a while, one of the
- 14:31soldiers gave the order with his hand to proceed. But at that moment,
- 14:35when we were about to go like this the tunnel of nothingness, the buzz
- 14:39we had heard before intensified and the ground under our feet began to tremble.
- 14:46It was a slight tremor at first, but it quickly became stronger. Panic
- 14:52swept through me and I looked at my companions, all with expressions of horror
- 14:56on their faces. The bright light of the tunnel intensified by blinding us.
- 15:01Even after that, we all had eye problems seeing that light that wasn'
- 15:05t from this world. Though we instinctively raised our hands to protect our eyes,
- 15:13but the light penetrated through our closed eyelids. When the light finally faded,
- 15:20I blinked several times trying to clear my sight. When I finally could
- 15:26see again what I saw, it left me petrified. The figures inside the
- 15:31tunnel began to twist in a very strange way and noises were heard like voices.
- 15:37But it was kind of weird, like robots were talking about what seemed
- 15:41to be meaningless things. Sounds we' ve never heard in our lives,
- 15:46like it' s something totally alien to this planet and from one moment to
- 15:52the next. The tunnel, once full of moving figures, was now empty.
- 15:56The figures had disappeared, leaving only the golden light and the constant buzzing.
- 16:03But then something happened that horrified me. Like my companions, we instinctively
- 16:07look up into the sky without even one sound being emitted for fear of being
- 16:12discovered. Despite being military. That time we knew we were facing something we
- 16:19couldn' t possibly control with a thousand battalions. Above us. An object
- 16:26floated was huge, bigger than any aircraft I' d seen before. It
- 16:33was illuminated with the same golden light as the tunnel, that light that was
- 16:38different from all of the earth and although its shape was difficult to discern in
- 16:41the dark, it could say that it was not a good thing. It
- 16:47was suspended in the air, silent and threatening. The buzz that we had
- 16:52heard before seemed to come from him a low and constant sound resounding in the
- 16:57night air or to assure that it was an unidentified flying object, but it
- 17:03was not like the ones I had seen in the movies or read in the
- 17:08books. There were no flashing lights or fast movements. It only floated there
- 17:15large and with a slow and constant movement, projecting its golden light over the
- 17:19desert area. Panic ran all over me I looked at my companions looking for
- 17:26help on their faces, but they were as shocked as I was. Their
- 17:30faces were white as milk, and even one of them was totally paralyzed.
- 17:37Although I was dying of fear, I knew we had to act, we
- 17:41had to report this to our superiors, but before I could move, the
- 17:48object began to change. The golden light intensified and the shape of the object
- 17:52began to distort. It was as if his structure was changing, reconfigured himself
- 17:59in front of our eyes. Then, without warning, the object fired some
- 18:04light into the tunnel and we had to turn our eyes off. I could
- 18:10feel the heat on my skin like I was standing by an oven. When
- 18:15the light finally went out, the tunnel had disappeared before us. Instead,
- 18:21there was only one void where the tunnel had been before. The unidentified flying
- 18:26object, had also disappeared leaving us alone in the desert, could not believe
- 18:33what had happened. It was like being in a horror movie. I'
- 18:37ve never felt as afraid as on that occasion and I think I speak for
- 18:44my colleagues that night too, we went back to the base in silence,
- 18:48even in choc for what we had witnessed. We informed our superiors of what
- 18:52we had seen, but I' m not sure they believed us. After
- 18:57all, it sounded science, fiction, not reality, although then a friend
- 19:02and fellow military officer told me quietly that maybe they knew it, but that
- 19:07the government would probably be forbidden to disclose that kind of information. So the
- 19:11best thing was to do as if nothing had happened, like we were crazy.
- 19:18Almost no one believed us, although we had been many witnesses to that
- 19:22encounter. Disbelief and scepticism predominated in most of our colleagues and superiors, who
- 19:27insisted that it was hallucinations or a joke of bad taste. This lack of
- 19:34support and understanding on the part of our colleagues only increased our sense of isolation
- 19:41and impotence. We felt trapped in a dilemma where, on the one hand,
- 19:45we wanted to continue fulfilling our military responsibilities, but, on the other,
- 19:52we could not forget or leave aside the magnitude of what we had witnessed,
- 19:56without leaving to one side the fear we felt every night as we returned
- 20:00to the area. We knew that at any moment we could see that giant
- 20:04object again and that maybe next time we wouldn' t have a chance to
- 20:11count it for the following nights. Every moment became untold torture. The routine
- 20:17of the night tour that once seemed so mundane and predictable, was now tinged
- 20:22with a terrible fear, a fear that crawled down our backs like a poaching
- 20:26animal. Every time we had to go through that place where we had lived
- 20:33that experience that challenged all logic and reason, we felt a chill that ran
- 20:38from head to toe. The place, however, seemed to mock our anguish.
- 20:45There was not the slightest evidence of the tunnel or the giant object we
- 20:49had seen with our own eyes. It was as if the earth had swallowed
- 20:56up every trace of what had happened there, erasing any hinus of that inexplicable
- 21:00event. The most disconcerting thing was that, as the days and nights passed,
- 21:07even we ourselves began to question the veracity of that sighting. Doubt infiltrated
- 21:14our minds like an insidious seed, germinating and growing until we found ourselves questioning
- 21:18whether what we had seen had been real or simply the product of some extreme
- 21:25fatigue or stress. In the army they prepare us for many things, they
- 21:33teach us to face the greatest challenges, to deal with dangerous and risky situations,
- 21:40but nothing we had learned had prepared us for such a thing. No
- 21:45instruction manual mentioned the possibility of encountering phenomena that challenged all human understanding. In
- 21:52spite of everything, we were lucky in the next few months we spent there.
- 21:59We never returned to her to witness anything like what we had seen that
- 22:02night. Over time, the initial fear faded slowly, like the fog at
- 22:07dawn. We were able to breathe again, allowing us to focus on our
- 22:15tasks and responsibilities with a clarity that we had lost for a while. They
- 22:21finally moved us to another area, this time in Sonora, where normalcy seemed
- 22:26to reign. We never experienced anything out of the ordinary again, anything that
- 22:32could be considered supernatural. The nights were quiet again, the tours were routine
- 22:38again, just like my superiors at that time and that many of my colleagues,
- 22:44the people I told about what happened to us, nobody believed me 100
- 22:51%. But I know what I saw that night and although it has been
- 22:55a long time since then I can still remember the fear I felt, the
- 23:00feeling of insignificance in the face of something so great and incomprehensible. I don
- 23:06' t know what that object was, or because it was there, but
- 23:11I know it changed my life forever and left me with questions that they'
- 23:15ll probably never have an answer. The years passed and I finally retired from
- 23:19military service. But the images of that terrifying night in the desert never left
- 23:26me. Sometimes, when I look at the starry sky, I wonder what
- 23:30we really saw that night and if I will meet them again. Anonymous account
