- 0:00Speaker 1: This is Kiss Breakfast. All right, let's go to Nat
- 0:03Speaker 1: and get a hit of celeb gossip. What are you
- 0:05Speaker 1: looking at?
- 0:05Speaker 2: Olivia Dean's in the country right now.
- 0:07Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. I've seen everyone's socials. They've all been going
- 0:09Speaker 3: to her shows. She looks amazing, by the way.
- 0:11Speaker 1: We had a caller on air the other day in Melbourne,
- 0:13Speaker 1: and she was going to a concert, then coming to
- 0:15Speaker 1: Sydney for more concerts.
- 0:16Speaker 3: Yeah, Sydney shows happened over the weekend. Pretty much everyone
- 0:18Speaker 3: I know was there. And when you go to a concert,
- 0:21Speaker 3: what do you do? You post on your stories.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 0:23Speaker 2: So, like, you see someone's there. Like, I didn't watch them.
- 0:25Speaker 1: You just skip over them. You're like, oh, they're there.
- 0:27Speaker 1: That's annoying. I want to be there. Why didn't you go? Oh,
- 0:30Speaker 1: you're pregnant. Can't do things.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Pregnant and also, I don't like buying tickets for things.
- 0:35Speaker 1: They're not free, not going.
- 0:37Speaker 3: Well, it's one of the things that when you work
- 0:39Speaker 3: in radio for a while, it feels illegal to pay
- 0:42Speaker 3: for a ticket.
- 0:42Speaker 1: You shouldn't have to pay. Well, yeah.
- 0:45Speaker 3: I mean, but then you've got people like you who
- 0:46Speaker 3: get given tickets to events like Taylor Swift where everyone
- 0:49Speaker 3: wanted them and you went.
- 0:50Speaker 1: I went.
- 0:51Speaker 2: And then left early.
- 0:52Speaker 1: I was bored. There was like a teenage girl screaming
- 0:56Speaker 1: in my ear.
- 0:56Speaker 2: You got tickets for someone else recently and didn't even
- 0:59Speaker 2: use them. Alex Warren.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Oh, I did go to that. Did you? Yep.
- 1:03Speaker 3: What song did he kick off the show with?
- 1:05Speaker 1: Ordinary.
- 1:06Speaker 4: No.
- 1:06Speaker 1: And then played it again at the end.
- 1:08Speaker 3: LAUGHTER Yeah.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Good night out.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Thank you for the free ticket. Ordinary on repeat. Yeah.
- 1:15Speaker 3: So anyway, in a recent interview, she was talking about
- 1:18Speaker 3: something that she feels like we've lost. We've lost an
- 1:21Speaker 3: art over the years as people. She thinks that something
- 1:24Speaker 3: is dying and it shouldn't be.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Let's have a listen.
- 1:26Speaker 5: I think going out on a Friday or Saturday night
- 1:29Speaker 5: and going to a bar and talking to someone with
- 1:31Speaker 5: the idea of flirting with them, maybe taking them for
- 1:34Speaker 5: a dance on the dance floor, spinning them around and saying,
- 1:37Speaker 5: can I have your number? And then following up in
- 1:39Speaker 5: a really nice way.
- 1:41Speaker 1: It is all over because of dating apps. I agree.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Also social media.
- 1:45Speaker 3: When I was single, I'd be out and see people
- 1:48Speaker 3: and then they would later on find me on socials
- 1:51Speaker 3: and follow me.
- 1:51Speaker 1: And I'm like, no, it's so much easier.
- 1:54Speaker 2: You do that too.
- 1:54Speaker 3: Cause you seem like the kind of guy, like one
- 1:56Speaker 3: of the few remaining guys who has the confidence.
- 1:58Speaker 1: I do both. I was doing it all. The numbers game. No,
- 2:02Speaker 1: but I'll talk. I will talk to someone, but yet
- 2:05Speaker 1: you have noticed, um, there's less of it and dudes
- 2:09Speaker 1: are lazier and overwhelmingly women still want the dude to.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Approach the fear of rejection for men.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Yeah, it is. But, like, I remember going out with
- 2:17Speaker 1: a mate and he was single. I think I was
- 2:19Speaker 1: in a relationship. And he was just on Tinder the
- 2:22Speaker 1: whole time we were at the bar.
- 2:23Speaker 2: So you're sitting with women in front of him in
- 2:25Speaker 2: real life.
- 2:25Speaker 1: But just on Tinder, yeah, because it was easier.
- 2:27Speaker 3: If you're sitting in a public area, especially on, like,
- 2:29Speaker 3: a Friday or Saturday, like, where there's a lot of
- 2:31Speaker 3: people out.
- 2:32Speaker 2: And you're swiping on a dating app.
- 2:33Speaker 1: I know.
- 2:34Speaker 4: Go home.
- 2:34Speaker 1: I know, but for his point of view, it was easier,
- 2:36Speaker 1: I suppose.
- 2:37Speaker 3: Right?
- 2:37Speaker 1: But, yeah, why are you even at the club? But
- 2:40Speaker 1: I did read this really good article, and they said
- 2:42Speaker 1: the sweet spot for traveling. So it used to be
- 2:45Speaker 1: you'd travel. You'd go to bars in, I don't know,
- 2:47Speaker 1: you're in Bangkok or something.
- 2:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:48Speaker 1: And you'd speak to people. Because you're forced to. Yeah,
- 2:52Speaker 1: and that way you'd meet people and start dating them
- 2:54Speaker 1: or whatever. But he said the sweet spot was 2000–
- 2:56Speaker 1: I want to go with 2010– Because there was Facebook,
- 3:00Speaker 1: but there wasn't Instagram. And we had smartphones, but overwhelmingly
- 3:05Speaker 1: you had to connect to Wi-Fi, right? So he said
- 3:07Speaker 1: why it was a sweet spot was you would still
- 3:09Speaker 1: go walk into a backpackers bar and everyone would still
- 3:12Speaker 1: be talking and mingling, which they don't now, apparently. They're
- 3:16Speaker 1: all on their phones.
- 3:16Speaker 3: So wait, even backpackers traveling- like going on dating apps
- 3:20Speaker 3: to meet people in other countries.
- 3:21Speaker 1: That's what he was saying. You walk into a backpacker
- 3:23Speaker 1: bar now and they're just sitting there on their phone.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Whereas 2010, the reason he says 2010 was there was
- 3:29Speaker 1: Facebook so you would still add someone and connect with
- 3:33Speaker 1: people and you might meet up with them months later
- 3:36Speaker 1: in another country, right? So it added that connection thing.
- 3:40Speaker 2: I've got an idea for single people.
- 3:41Speaker 1: But it didn't have them just sitting on your phone.
- 3:43Speaker 3: Why don't you, like you would if you're travelling... Why
- 3:45Speaker 3: don't you just, in your local area, go out by yourself?
- 3:50Speaker 1: That's hard to do.
- 3:51Speaker 3: But it's a challenge, right? Because then you are forced to...
- 3:55Speaker 3: The people you'd normally dismiss because you're like, oh, my
- 3:56Speaker 3: friends are over there. I don't have to talk to you.
- 3:58Speaker 3: If someone strikes up a conversation, you're almost like, yes,
- 4:00Speaker 3: a friend.
- 4:01Speaker 1: But if they're all on their phone... Are they?
- 4:04Speaker 3: Chelsea, you're single and you're out and about and you're
- 4:06Speaker 3: wanting to meet someone, correct?
- 4:08Speaker 2: Correct.
- 4:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:09Speaker 2: So when you're out.
- 4:10Speaker 3: Do you find most people are on their phones or
- 4:12Speaker 3: people are living in the moment, enjoying the room that
- 4:15Speaker 3: they're in?
- 4:15Speaker 4: No, I feel like people are living in the moment,
- 4:17Speaker 4: but I feel like that naturally happens even when you're
- 4:20Speaker 4: in a group of people. Another group might come up
- 4:22Speaker 4: and you start yapping along.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Oh, okay. So it still happens. It's still out there.
- 4:25Speaker 4: Yeah, like, for example, someone asked for my number on
- 4:27Speaker 4: Friday night on the side of the, like, literally on
- 4:30Speaker 4: the side of the road, but I didn't give it
- 4:32Speaker 4: to them.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Why?
- 4:34Speaker 4: It's always, like, the sleazy ones that want your number. Hey, baby.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Yeah, so the ones with the confidence are the ones
- 4:39Speaker 3: probably playing the numbers game like Mikey was.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Yeah, but I wasn't gross about it.
- 4:44Speaker 3: You used to walk up to people with your phone
- 4:46Speaker 3: open and say, put.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Your Instagram in my phone. I'd actually have the search
- 4:50Speaker 1: part already. So Instagram would be open with a search.
- 4:52Speaker 1: You're doing too much. Put your Instagram in my phone.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Shows confidence.
- 4:55Speaker 4: No, now I do the thing when they want my number.
- 4:57Speaker 4: I'll go and I'll type a number in, but it's
- 4:59Speaker 4: not my number.
- 5:00Speaker 1: And you wonder how you're single. Give the sleazy guy
- 5:03Speaker 1: a go.
- 5:04Speaker 2: Just because it's Chelsea, you're what, 27? Yeah. Plenty of time.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I know, but, like, you're saying no. You call
- 5:11Speaker 1: him sleazy? He could have been confident, could have been
- 5:13Speaker 1: the love of your life, and you're giving him no time.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Chelsea, was he ugly?
- 5:17Speaker 4: He wasn't ugly, but if you're standing on the side
- 5:19Speaker 4: of the road, can't even get words out, what are
- 5:21Speaker 4: you waiting there for?
- 5:22Speaker 2: Who knows? You're not my husband.
- 5:25Speaker 1: If only you'd said, put your Instagram in my phone.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Maybe he was waiting there, you know.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Yeah, what is someone doing waiting on the side of
- 5:33Speaker 2: the road?
- 5:33Speaker 1: To pick up women.
- 5:35Speaker 2: That guy was probably doing a numbers game as well.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Is it a place with high foot traffic?
- 5:41Speaker 3: No.
- 5:42Speaker 1: He just spotted one in the wild.
- 5:43Speaker 2: He's in a cul-de-sac.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Numbers game. Any opportunity.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Just standing on the side. Good on that guy.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I'm saying. But you didn't give him any.
- 5:55Speaker 1: You didn't give him your number.
- 5:56Speaker 4: No, I didn't give him my number.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Do you want to give your number out on the
- 5:59Speaker 1: radio now? No, I do not.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Thank you, though. We saw how that went with Alec
- 6:02Speaker 2: the other day.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Yeah. What happened? Oh, did we give your number out?
- 6:05Speaker 5: No.
- 6:05Speaker 2: Yeah, you did.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Well, you gave it on Instagram.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Oh, but you had some bites.
- 6:09Speaker 3: A couple of new followers and a nice lady on
- 6:11Speaker 3: the phone.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Oh, you got a lady on the phone.
- 6:14Speaker 2: You were there, Mikey. It was on the radio.
- 6:16Speaker 1: I forget what I do.
- 6:19Speaker 5: Really?
- 6:19Speaker 1: I don't remember that.
