Transcript
- 0:00Happy Monday morning, and it is one of the biggest Monday
- 0:05mornings in a long time. Some people might argue no, it's
- 0:10just a normal Monday morning. Well, they're wrong.
- 0:16It's December 1st. That's a big deal.
- 0:20But it is also the first day of one of the biggest stories in
- 0:25NASCAR history. Am I exaggerating?
- 0:31If I am exaggerating, respond right here.
- 0:35Maybe the death of Dale Earnhardt Senior was the biggest
- 0:39day in the history of NASCAR. I was born in 1963.
- 0:46I don't remember the other NASCAR.
- 0:51Well, it wasn't a lawsuit. I think the other drivers tried
- 0:54to go on strike. They did.
- 0:57They all said we're not going to race at Talladega.
- 1:00And NASCAR said fine, why have the Bush Grand National Series
- 1:04run? And they did.
- 1:06And it was a failed attempt for NASCAR and the drivers to come
- 1:11together. So here we are on December 1st.
- 1:17It's cold in Charlotte, NC Danny Hamlin walked in to the
- 1:22courtroom alongside the great Michael Jordan wearing a big
- 1:27heavy coat. There's a big media contingent
- 1:31there. There's a lot of sadness in the
- 1:35air because, you know, let's put it this way, when we do, Herman
- 1:41Schrader, for almost one year, my my best friend in life, my
- 1:46other brother Schrader would say, Herman, it's not our deal.
- 1:51It's not our issue and my traitor, how do we ignore it?
- 1:58So here we are on December 1st and this time it's real and
- 2:04nobody can ignore it. I think of Dave Moody today.
- 2:09I think of Larry McReynolds. Do they act like it's not
- 2:14happening? Can they lie to themselves?
- 2:19I mean this in a loving, caring way.
- 2:22They are the NASCAR station. You know, MRN is kind of serious
- 2:29nest NASCAR Channel 90 MRN Radio.
- 2:35Today's story on this Monday is it's only so many days from the
- 2:39Daytona 500. Can you act like today's a
- 2:43normal day? Can you act?
- 2:45It's none of our business while it's worldwide and a media
- 2:52contingent is huddled around downtown Charlotte, NC.
- 2:57Hell, this is World News. How do you act like NASCAR is
- 3:03not involved for the fight of their life?
- 3:06I bet if they lose the son of a bitch, it'll be news.
- 3:10Today is our last Herman Schrader of this December, and
- 3:16then we'll start back up. And I thought of my dear friend
- 3:19Kenny Schrader, who I love dearly.
- 3:22Do anything for. I think how Kenny's a little
- 3:27different than I am. He was born in the 50s.
- 3:31I was born in the 60s. Schrader's strategy is to do
- 3:38minimal. He he thinks it's funny that I
- 3:42like social media. However, Schrader made his first
- 3:46video when he went to Volusia. He finally made a video and I
- 3:51said, well, lookie there kind of reminds me of, you know, my
- 3:57brother Rusty Wallace and Schrader, both born in the 50s.
- 4:00They think us social media people were just dumb.
- 4:04One of these days I might sit them down and show them my bank
- 4:09account. They would all over themselves
- 4:12if they knew how much money I was making.
- 4:16With great sponsors and everything being monetized and
- 4:20Charlie Marlowe working the YouTube channel This is Life.
- 4:26Things change. Who would have ever thought we'd
- 4:29have a cell phone one day? Who would have ever thought we
- 4:32had social media? And in the end, who would ever
- 4:36thought that? NASCAR, who has never been in
- 4:40this position in their life, is now fighting for their life.
- 4:48I truly believe that in my heart of all hearts, you know, I have
- 4:51followed this since the beginning.
- 4:53And there was a time that I said NASCAR's going to win this.
- 4:59Remember that back in the heat of the summer, I said NASCAR's
- 5:02going to win this. They got friends in high places.
- 5:05Well, listen, I'll be honest with y'all I know.
- 5:08I know a lot of people and I don't call them.
- 5:11No, I don't call nobody. And I say that humbly.
- 5:16I say that with respect. They all call me and they all
- 5:21give me numbers. I feel fine saying this.
- 5:27It's going to come out in court. Yesterday I was called and I was
- 5:32told that Michael Jordan's already spent $40 million on
- 5:37this lawsuit. It's going to be big one way or
- 5:41the other because if NASCAR loses, NASCAR won't be the same.
- 5:48I think about Jim France, Lessa Kennedy, France Ben Kennedy, the
- 5:55sport that their grandpa, great grandpa, Big Bill France, then
- 6:00Bill Friends Junior, then Mike Hilton.
- 6:03Is this a deal? Where is this the day the music
- 6:07stops? Kind of like the song, you know,
- 6:11when the Big Bopper and some of the great music artists got
- 6:17killed in that plane wreck and they said that's the day the
- 6:20music stopped. You know, when we lost Dale
- 6:23Senior, that's the that's the day we thought racing stopped.
- 6:28It did, but it went on the 2006 and I reminded you've all
- 6:35several times. 2006 is when the music stopped.
- 6:39That's that's the year that NASCAR stopped its rise.
- 6:45Why 2006 respond right here. What was significant?
- 6:50I knew 2008 they had a they had a homing crisis where the banks
- 6:55had to take back the loans and that was the start of a lot of
- 6:58bad. But why was it 2006?
- 7:02Why was that? The end was that when we started
- 7:05the next Gen. car with the wing, that was a failed attempt.
- 7:11It didn't look good, didn't race good, but still everybody's.
- 7:15I got that car didn't work, nobody there.
- 7:18There was not a mob at that time like there is now.
- 7:24So respond right here. Can you ignore this lawsuit and
- 7:28act like there's nothing wrong with NASCAR?
- 7:30Because I know some people that are going to try to do that.
- 7:33They work for NASCAR. God, what a life to live.
- 7:38Act like nothing's going on while Rome is burning.
- 7:44All right, everybody respond right here.
- 7:47I can see the headlines now. Are you going to ignore this
- 7:53NASCAR story like nothing's wrong?
- 7:57Have a great December 1st.
