- 0:12come out here. Every day to record a podcast
- 0:15to. Teach distinctions,
- 0:17possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring some
- 0:20joy. Into the.
- 0:21World. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody, good early morning.
- 0:30I'm actually standing on the porch.
- 0:32It's pitch dark and it's Christmas Eve and this quiet,
- 0:38this beautiful quiet with just the wind in the background, no
- 0:42noise. So Dark Rooster hasn't even
- 0:45started going off yet has really got me into this place of
- 0:49thinking. You know, holidays can be so
- 0:54stressful because we worry about interacting with other people or
- 0:57how things are going to go or is the meal going to be on time?
- 1:00Or am I going to get the present I want?
- 1:02Or is anyone going to Remember Me?
- 1:04And we start to spin in our head before anything even happens.
- 1:10And this is a very normal condition, my friends.
- 1:13It happens constantly. It happens to me.
- 1:15But the issue is not like, is it going to happen?
- 1:19Because it most likely is going to happen.
- 1:21We could, we could predict pretty well.
- 1:23We'll start thinking about, well, what's going to happen
- 1:25when Uncle Harold gets there? You know how that's going to go.
- 1:27Like we, we just go into those stories, but those stories have
- 1:31energy, those stories have emotion with them.
- 1:34And when we get into that emotion and that space, all of a
- 1:37sudden we start attracting it and we start becoming very.
- 1:42It's almost like you're magnetic in the sense that you're pulling
- 1:46those things right to you instead of just being,
- 1:49acknowledging that that's a possibility, allowing yourself
- 1:51to be mentally prepared. How am I going to handle it if
- 1:54something shows up? What is the best way for me to
- 1:57me to handle it? And then moving on from it.
- 2:00So you don't attract it, just acknowledge it, see what's
- 2:03there, and then move on from it because nothing is more
- 2:06important than keeping in the right energy when you're in
- 2:08this. And this is Christmas Eve for
- 2:10Christians, this is a very, very, very special time.
- 2:14So here we are on the precipice of having this happen.
- 2:18And we're worried about the interaction of us with people
- 2:22or, you know, going to a new restaurant.
- 2:24So we traditionally we go out to eat on Christmas Eve and then
- 2:27cook on Christmas Day and stay home and have like a really nice
- 2:32quiet Christmas Day. That's like always been the
- 2:35tradition since I was a little girl and that's what we stick
- 2:38to. That's like, I've always just
- 2:40made that happen with my family. So tonight we are going to a
- 2:43brand new restaurant and you know, the first question that
- 2:46was thrown my way was, huh, well, do we know if it's going
- 2:50to be any good? Have we talked to anybody that
- 2:52was there? And the reality is there are not
- 2:55a lot of restaurants that are open on Christmas Eve where we
- 2:58live. And there are a good number of
- 3:01them, but not a ton of them. And I wanted to try something
- 3:03different. So I kind of threw it out there
- 3:06and said, OK, let's just try it now.
- 3:08Am I concerned if it's going to be good or not?
- 3:10Well, it it wouldn't matter, would it?
- 3:13Because I'm going to go anyway and I'm going to have a good
- 3:16time because it's something different and try something
- 3:19different and it looks fabulous. But we'll see.
- 3:21We will see what it's like. And the more important part of
- 3:24it is when the question was thrown out, could that have been
- 3:26a trigger? Sure, because I was the one that
- 3:28did the planning and I was the one that put put it together.
- 3:32But instead I just was like, I don't know, we'll see.
- 3:35And it was very much AI did not allow it to affect me.
- 3:40And that's how you have to take all of this on for the holiday.
- 3:43When something is thrown your way, when something is said,
- 3:47when someone is perceived to be critical or someone is perceived
- 3:51to be joking in a way you don't like, or when someone is being
- 3:55too political or someone is being just, you know, not nice
- 4:00or inconsiderate. That's a really big one that I
- 4:02hear from a lot of people that I work with is that people are
- 4:06inconsiderate. They don't think about should I
- 4:09offer to help. Now, some people don't like to
- 4:11have help cleaning up. I happen to be one of them.
- 4:14But I do want people to like at least bring things to the
- 4:17counter. I just like to do the stuff
- 4:19myself. I like to stay busy.
- 4:21I don't like to just sit. It doesn't make me feel good to
- 4:23just sit. So I like to be busy buzzing
- 4:26around like, you know, the bee kind of thing.
- 4:28And but I still would like people to be considerate and
- 4:31bring their stuff to the counter.
- 4:33And I have to watch myself because I can be like so
- 4:37judgmental if someone's not at least bringing something to the
- 4:39counter for me. Now that might be very
- 4:41legitimate, but it's my job to manage that thought process and
- 4:46I know it. Do I do it 100% well, all the
- 4:49time? Hell no.
- 4:49I'm a human and sometimes it gets the best of me and
- 4:52sometimes I'm just like, you know what?
- 4:54No, that really was crappy what they did.
- 4:56And I'm OK saying it. And, and that is true.
- 4:58You can feel that way, but you can't hang on to that emotion.
- 5:01That's the key. You can't hang on to it.
- 5:04Manage your expectations, manage your language, manage what
- 5:07you're allowing to set in over the next 24 hours, and hopefully
- 5:12you will be able to navigate this holiday season really,
- 5:16really well and not have the stress of having it all come
- 5:19back and bite you in the hiney. All right, my friends, I hope
- 5:23you have a blessed, blessed Christmas Eve and I will see you
- 5:25all tomorrow. Bye.
