- 6:32Speaker 1: Well no long what we mean, what we mean?
- 6:39Speaker 8: What we I guess you guys didn't expect to see
- 6:44Speaker 8: me this evening. I just wanted to come on and
- 6:49Speaker 8: check in with you guys. So we're gonna call this
- 6:51Speaker 8: segment wellness well Wednesday. My co host Cornell is online
- 6:57Speaker 8: with me and we're just gonna be shoe to Breeze tonight.
- 7:02Speaker 8: The reason why I want to do a wellness check
- 7:06Speaker 8: is because my grandson called me.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Today. He's twelve years old. His dad passed November tenth,
- 7:24Speaker 1: with is my son, and he was heavy a bad
- 7:29Speaker 1: day today.
- 7:32Speaker 3: And so.
- 7:35Speaker 8: When I got the call from my daughter because my
- 7:40Speaker 8: daughter works at his school, and she was like, Mama,
- 7:44Speaker 8: I need you to talk to Kyle Kyler.
- 7:46Speaker 1: And I said, well, what's going on with him?
- 7:49Speaker 8: And she said, just face timing. So I face timing
- 7:55Speaker 8: and I said, oh, hey, Kyler Brown, what's going on?
- 7:59Speaker 3: How you know?
- 7:59Speaker 1: How you doing? And he said I missed my daddy.
- 8:08Speaker 1: I said, oh wow, and he was just looking.
- 8:12Speaker 3: And so.
- 8:15Speaker 1: I couldn't. I had to.
- 8:21Speaker 8: Put whatever my feelings was when he told me that,
- 8:24Speaker 8: I had to put that to the back burner because
- 8:27Speaker 8: now my mind was focused on him making sure his
- 8:31Speaker 8: well being was okay and that he understood that his
- 8:38Speaker 8: dad loved him and his dad is He's just resting
- 8:43Speaker 8: right now. So you know, I was like, what what's wrong,
- 8:49Speaker 8: and he just like you can see the sadness in
- 8:53Speaker 8: his face.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Since my son.
- 8:56Speaker 8: Transitioned almost it'll be two years in old. Remember my grandson.
- 9:02Speaker 3: Has this.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Sad look.
- 9:06Speaker 8: We interact with and we get him every weekend to
- 9:10Speaker 8: spend time with us and just try to keep him
- 9:14Speaker 8: in a good mood, you know, let him know that
- 9:16Speaker 8: he's very that he's loved. But today, this is the
- 9:23Speaker 8: second time I heard of him at school crying.
- 9:28Speaker 3: Like this.
- 9:29Speaker 8: So out today I was able to talk to him
- 9:31Speaker 8: and I was able to explain to him that.
- 9:37Speaker 1: When his dad was a little boy, Kyle dealt with asthma.
- 9:44Speaker 1: He was a chronic asthmatic.
- 9:46Speaker 8: And I shared with him a little history about how
- 9:52Speaker 8: his dad starts going in and out the hospital at
- 9:58Speaker 8: the age of one, and he he would stay.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Kia will stay in the hospital for about a week.
- 10:03Speaker 1: He had his last.
- 10:06Speaker 8: Asthma attack that put him in ICU for fourteen days
- 10:14Speaker 8: in two thousand and three. They didn't know why he
- 10:20Speaker 8: wasn't getting on oxygen or anything, so they had to
- 10:26Speaker 8: go inside to do a bronchotomy to see what was
- 10:30Speaker 8: inside of his lungs and stuff. But once they went
- 10:33Speaker 8: down there, once they got in there, they didn't see
- 10:35Speaker 8: no blockage, they didn't see anything.
- 10:38Speaker 1: And they you know, they didn't know what was going on.
- 10:43Speaker 8: But you know, it was just by the grace of
- 10:47Speaker 8: God that you know, everything began to change and he
- 10:54Speaker 8: his oxygen levels being able was started coming up. So
- 11:00Speaker 8: we I dealt with that, and then I went on
- 11:04Speaker 8: and I explained to him about his dad's heart.
- 11:09Speaker 1: When Kyle, I.
- 11:12Speaker 8: Think he probably was about six or something like that,
- 11:16Speaker 8: that's when I found out that the right side of
- 11:21Speaker 8: his heart was weak. But they never did his pediatrician
- 11:27Speaker 8: never did focus on that. It was always his asthma
- 11:32Speaker 8: because that's what kept him in and out the hospital.
- 11:40Speaker 1: Kyle was on.
- 11:43Speaker 8: I want to say, five medications a day, but as
- 11:49Speaker 8: he got older, it seemed like his medicine kept increasing
- 11:56Speaker 8: and it didn't decrease, but it went up.
- 11:59Speaker 1: So I explained to him.
- 12:00Speaker 8: That when Kyle transition, Kyle was on properly, he was
- 12:08Speaker 8: taking fifteen pills a day. He had one, he had
- 12:15Speaker 8: like probably about three water pills. He had heart medicine.
- 12:21Speaker 8: He had high blood pressure medicine because his blood pressure
- 12:27Speaker 8: had started going down. So when his blood pressure went down,
- 12:30Speaker 8: we would hold the heart medicine. When his blood pressure
- 12:34Speaker 8: was too high, we had to hold the heart medicine.
- 12:37Speaker 3: So it was just like a.
- 12:41Speaker 1: We were just going back and forth.
- 12:42Speaker 8: He was taking his pulse every day, his blood pressure,
- 12:46Speaker 8: making sure he was okay, you know, but he still
- 12:49Speaker 8: did what he wanted to do.
- 12:53Speaker 1: So I explained to that. I explained all of.
- 12:56Speaker 8: That to Kyler, and I just told him, I said, Kyle,
- 13:00Speaker 8: I said, you know, your daddy was just sick. His
- 13:07Speaker 8: heart was real sick. And when he went to sleep
- 13:14Speaker 8: that night, you know, he just had a conversation with God.
- 13:18Speaker 8: God seen how tired he was, and he just talked
- 13:25Speaker 8: to him and he, Kyle, seen something better, and he
- 13:30Speaker 8: looked at this world and he said goodbye. I said,
- 13:35Speaker 8: Even though he didn't get a chance to say goodbye
- 13:40Speaker 8: to us that night, you know, we had to still
- 13:48Speaker 8: keep going. And I want you to know that your
- 13:51Speaker 8: dad loves you. And he was like, okay, Granny, And
- 13:56Speaker 8: I said, and you know what used to irritate me
- 14:00Speaker 8: when your daddy used to be making them rooster sounds
- 14:05Speaker 8: early in the morning when I'm leaving to go to
- 14:07Speaker 8: work at boys start crying like a rooster And used
- 14:09Speaker 8: to make me mad and just to get him laughing.
- 14:13Speaker 1: And I said, do you be hearing roosters?
- 14:15Speaker 8: And he said yes, and I said, okay, I said,
- 14:18Speaker 8: so when you hear a rooster croach, just say hey, dad,
- 14:22Speaker 8: and just smile. I said, just think about the good
- 14:25Speaker 8: times that you had with you know. That's how my
- 14:30Speaker 8: day was. And but this morning I did wake up
- 14:35Speaker 8: and I thought of him, and I decided to write
- 14:38Speaker 8: a poem to him and release it like that. I
- 14:45Speaker 8: was personally, I put myself on an island. I'm not
- 14:50Speaker 8: gonna go into too much of it because guess what.
- 14:54Speaker 8: We have a podcast on this Sunday, all healing voices
- 15:02Speaker 8: how to navigate through grief. So if you guys want
- 15:06Speaker 8: to hear more, because I'm gonna share more. I don't
- 15:14Speaker 8: want to share too much. I just want to give
- 15:16Speaker 8: you that little spill and just tell you how my
- 15:21Speaker 8: grandson Dave was going and how my day went. You know,
- 15:26Speaker 8: we're in the middle of the week, and I know
- 15:28Speaker 8: some of you guys probably had stressful jobs where you
- 15:33Speaker 8: at the point where you ready probably knock you know,
- 15:36Speaker 8: probably want to cuss out a coworker or or just
- 15:41Speaker 8: do something silly, you know, just take time to do
- 15:46Speaker 8: a couple of deep breaths.
- 15:49Speaker 1: And reevaluated.
- 15:51Speaker 8: See how see if it's going to be beneficial if
- 15:55Speaker 8: you cussing that person out. I know, with me sometimes
- 15:58Speaker 8: I felt when you know, when I was like that,
- 16:05Speaker 8: I did kind of feel kind of good after I
- 16:08Speaker 8: gave a person a good talking to.
- 16:11Speaker 1: I did you know once I released it, you know,
- 16:14Speaker 1: I felt kind of good.
- 16:16Speaker 8: But now you know, I don't changed because I don't
- 16:21Speaker 8: want people thinking that I'm a mad that I'm a maniac.
- 16:25Speaker 8: But I'm gonna let my co hosts jump in real
- 16:30Speaker 8: quick so we can get this on a go of Cortnell.
- 16:35Speaker 8: How is your wellness Wednesday going over there, ma'am?
- 16:40Speaker 3: I am doing very very great. Thank you very much,
- 16:43Speaker 3: ma'am for me being here tonight. And I was just
- 16:46Speaker 3: listening to you telling the story about your grandson, ma'am.
- 16:50Speaker 3: And that's very touching because you know me and it
- 16:54Speaker 3: was in my mom at age nine turning around who
- 16:56Speaker 3: was my dad at age sixteen?
- 16:58Speaker 1: Ma'am?
- 16:59Speaker 3: I can redo it to how he steals. I mean
- 17:01Speaker 3: a lot of times people see us and think that
- 17:04Speaker 3: everything is my life, but beep down inside of us
- 17:07Speaker 3: with hurt losing a family, a loved one, a mom
- 17:11Speaker 3: or dad or son. You know, just there the feeling
- 17:14Speaker 3: just never go away, and no matter how people try
- 17:18Speaker 3: to console us, steal the feelings there. We go to sleep, astare,
- 17:21Speaker 3: we wake up, this stair, we do, whatever we do
- 17:24Speaker 3: is still there. So you know, man, he go on
- 17:28Speaker 3: in life, ma'am. You know he's gonna come to understand that.
- 17:32Speaker 3: You know, that's a guy that God have better plans
- 17:35Speaker 3: for us in situations like this, because God don't like
- 17:39Speaker 3: to see nobody's stuff. And that's a good explanation that
- 17:42Speaker 3: you gave him, you know about hearing rooster, So now
- 17:46Speaker 3: you know when he makes rooster sound, he can smile
- 17:48Speaker 3: and think about his dad, you know, to know that
- 17:51Speaker 3: he has a better place and that he's up looking
- 17:53Speaker 3: down on us and want him to do better in life.
- 17:56Speaker 3: Go to school, get your grades, you know. And that
- 17:58Speaker 3: was very touching, man, because a lot of us in here,
- 18:01Speaker 3: you know, inmates, you know, we in prison, but a
- 18:04Speaker 3: lot of us have been incorsrated. But he is in
- 18:06Speaker 3: decades and we've lost a lot of family members. And
- 18:09Speaker 3: even though no matter how strong we try to be,
- 18:12Speaker 3: you know, when the lights go out at night, man,
- 18:14Speaker 3: we try to because that's how serious it is. Looking
- 18:18Speaker 3: the loved one, man. You know, that's like kids. It's
- 18:21Speaker 3: in the family, the mom's or dads, you know, being
- 18:23Speaker 3: locked up and combined like this. And uh, you know,
- 18:27Speaker 3: I was looking at a podcast last night about the prisons,
- 18:30Speaker 3: about people on death room and it's so quiet, the
- 18:33Speaker 3: fact that that that's all they get is quiet, and
- 18:36Speaker 3: they don't have no noise, no teething, no ready, don't
- 18:38Speaker 3: know anything to keep them you know, same back then
- 18:42Speaker 3: and lock up and all they do is just sit
- 18:45Speaker 3: there twenty four hours a day, locked up waiting to
- 18:48Speaker 3: be executed. Man, So that you know, deep like that,
- 18:53Speaker 3: you know, to even you know, see that podcast like
- 18:56Speaker 3: that and just imagine what them people can be going
- 18:59Speaker 3: through as oppos what we go through. So we all
- 19:02Speaker 3: go through the same things in this world man, and
- 19:05Speaker 3: for grief, right, and we have to find strengths, you know,
- 19:09Speaker 3: and we have to go to the power than us
- 19:13Speaker 3: us longer. We have to see that. But you know,
- 19:16Speaker 3: the feeling is there. So your grandson he held the
- 19:19Speaker 3: feeling and the move right then and there because who knows,
- 19:23Speaker 3: his father's spirit probably touched him at that at that
- 19:26Speaker 3: time and you know, hey, he tells it. We don't
- 19:30Speaker 3: know that, man, but you know, the spirit of God
- 19:32Speaker 3: work it touched him at that time, and that's why
- 19:35Speaker 3: he said he missed it. That so we do all
- 19:38Speaker 3: go through it, man, and we miss mans and my
- 19:40Speaker 3: mom and dad and stuff like that. But you know
- 19:42Speaker 3: he's gonna be the wife. You know one thing.
- 19:46Speaker 8: Yeah, you know, because grief is real, sneaky. That's it
- 19:51Speaker 8: can't sneak up on you at any time. You can
- 19:56Speaker 8: be sleep because and it just power.
- 20:00Speaker 1: But it didn't. You know, I was sleep and I
- 20:04Speaker 1: was like, nah, I got to get up and go
- 20:06Speaker 1: to work. I ain't ready to deal with this right now,
- 20:10Speaker 1: you know. But I went on and I went through it,
- 20:14Speaker 1: you know so much. Not I don't. I don't do
- 20:18Speaker 1: a lot of crying no more. But I'm starting to.
- 20:29Speaker 8: Live, if if I can say it like that, because
- 20:32Speaker 8: I was, like I said, I wasn't living.
- 20:34Speaker 1: I was just I don't know what I was doing.
- 20:37Speaker 1: I was just here. We're gonna say I was just here.
- 20:43Speaker 1: And now, you know, when you have people that's loving
- 20:48Speaker 1: on you and that see that wants the best for you,
- 20:54Speaker 1: you don't want to let them down. You wanna.
- 21:01Speaker 8: Pushed through. You want to keep going. You know, each
- 21:05Speaker 8: day that God wakes us up, we wake up with
- 21:08Speaker 8: a purpose and instead of just laying around and you know,
- 21:14Speaker 8: feeling sorry, because why are we feeling sorry for our
- 21:20Speaker 8: Basically we're feeling sorry for ourselves. That's the way I
- 21:24Speaker 8: that's the way I'm starting to take it.
- 21:25Speaker 3: Why.
- 21:26Speaker 1: You know, he's he's smiling, and you know he probably like, Mama,
- 21:32Speaker 1: what's wrong with you? You you done lost your mind?
- 21:35Speaker 8: You know you need to be getting yourself together for
- 21:43Speaker 8: when you get ready to transition.
- 21:45Speaker 1: So you know, and you know, I'm.
- 21:49Speaker 8: I'm getting back. I feel myself getting stronger each day.
- 21:54Speaker 8: But we're gonna say that for Sunday. I don't want
- 21:56Speaker 8: to talk too much on what we talk about tonight.
- 22:03Speaker 3: Well, man, we're talking about you know, how individuals in
- 22:07Speaker 3: here trying to maintain and you know, so these program
- 22:10Speaker 3: and how to you know, stay strong. You know in
- 22:13Speaker 3: the midst of this, you know, looking systems we're dealing with,
- 22:16Speaker 3: you know, just men in general, because even we we
- 22:19Speaker 3: go through things, man, just you know, just because man,
- 22:21Speaker 3: we we got these old massages that I'm a very powerful,
- 22:25Speaker 3: strong guy with this egos that I'm a bad guy.
- 22:27Speaker 3: I ever, you know, like I say, ma'am, you know,
- 22:30Speaker 3: we go through things too. Man. It's very very unique
- 22:33Speaker 3: because we have to try to adjust to the way
- 22:36Speaker 3: things are too now, you know, to try to stay strong,
- 22:38Speaker 3: not just for ourselves but for y'all to us out
- 22:41Speaker 3: there right were incarcerated it, so we still have to
- 22:45Speaker 3: try to find a way to stay strong and try
- 22:47Speaker 3: to find our purpose. Like they say walking in purpose, Well,
- 22:50Speaker 3: we have to try to find that too, ma'am. So tonight, man,
- 22:52Speaker 3: we're gonna find some guys who might want to come
- 22:54Speaker 3: on tonight and just you know what I'm saying, tell
- 22:56Speaker 3: a little situation about you know, how they feeling, what
- 22:59Speaker 3: the going through. They're being strong man, So, uh my brother,
- 23:04Speaker 3: Holiday tonight, okay, and uh you know, these guys just
- 23:10Speaker 3: want to come up and you know, tell a little
- 23:13Speaker 3: you know, how they're feeling tonight and how life is
- 23:16Speaker 3: for them. So you know, that's what we're going to be.
- 23:18Speaker 1: Doing, man, Okay, Okay, that's cool, you know.
- 23:21Speaker 8: And then you know, I wanted to touch on about
- 23:26Speaker 8: some of these groups that's out here saying that they
- 23:31Speaker 8: being a voice for the men and women that's wrong
- 23:36Speaker 8: fleet incarcerated and over sentences and stuff.
- 23:42Speaker 3: Okay, okay, and hopefully I can do this, you know.
- 23:47Speaker 1: Hopefully I can do this without mentioning any names.
- 23:52Speaker 3: You know.
- 23:52Speaker 1: I just feel that some of them are full of
- 23:59Speaker 1: you know, they some of us, some of them are
- 24:01Speaker 1: just full of it. I don't think that they're really
- 24:10Speaker 1: looking out for looking out for the ones I think.
- 24:14Speaker 8: That's in there in that situation, and then the ones
- 24:18Speaker 8: that have been wrongfully convicted and they're been they have
- 24:23Speaker 8: been exonerated. I understand that they come out and they
- 24:30Speaker 8: want to get they want to salvash, salvash some of
- 24:35Speaker 8: their life. They want to get out there and they want.
- 24:37Speaker 1: To get to working and you know, they want to
- 24:41Speaker 1: make things happen for themselves. But they leave promises.
- 24:48Speaker 8: They start leaving promises to the men's that still fighting.
- 24:52Speaker 8: The is wrong for conviction. Oh you know, we're gonna
- 24:55Speaker 8: help you when we get out and whoop the whoop this,
- 24:58Speaker 8: But then you don't come through you.
- 25:01Speaker 3: You give people hope, You give people hope.
- 25:04Speaker 1: And then you snatch it away from it.
- 25:07Speaker 3: That's right, that's right, and that right there.
- 25:10Speaker 8: I don't feel that's fair because they be counting on
- 25:15Speaker 8: you because you don't told them. When I get to
- 25:18Speaker 8: the other side, you know, I'm gonna make sure this happened.
- 25:22Speaker 8: But when you get to the other side, you forget
- 25:28Speaker 8: about them, your promise to them. And yeah, and we
- 25:35Speaker 8: understand that, we understand that you have a life, we
- 25:38Speaker 8: understand that you've been gone thirty five plus years and stuff,
- 25:42Speaker 8: but don't leave. Don't give a person false hope. If
- 25:49Speaker 8: you're gonna do something, you're gonna you stand on it
- 25:54Speaker 8: or you just say you can't do it, yes, ma'am, Yes, ma'am.
- 26:03Speaker 3: Well that would be a good topic too, ma'am, because
- 26:06Speaker 3: you know, I've worked with a lot of guys who
- 26:09Speaker 3: got exonerated. Man Richard Marder earned so many job the
- 26:12Speaker 3: name of a lot of guys who've gotten exonerated and
- 26:15Speaker 3: have gotten out from him, and you know, they've established
- 26:18Speaker 3: some little programs or whatever they did is man. But
- 26:21Speaker 3: you know, when it came time to reach back and
- 26:23Speaker 3: let's talk about the issues of how they got there
- 26:26Speaker 3: and how they got exonerated. And it's hard for these
- 26:29Speaker 3: guys that come back to the paper, you know, And
- 26:31Speaker 3: it afretates me to see that these same guys you
- 26:34Speaker 3: know that I stayed up night and they working on
- 26:36Speaker 3: a lot of guys pass and here this I can't
- 26:38Speaker 3: even reach out to another guy to get them to
- 26:40Speaker 3: come and join me at the table to let's talk
- 26:43Speaker 3: about what's wrong with our from the justice system. Because
- 26:46Speaker 3: the state legislators and the contendent invited some of these
- 26:49Speaker 3: same guys to the capital to talk about what is
- 26:53Speaker 3: wrong with the fromal justice system, and all they could
- 26:57Speaker 3: say is that, you know, we have a broken system, say,
- 27:00Speaker 3: not identifying exactly what was wrong with our system. So
- 27:04Speaker 3: you know, yes, ma'am, that's a good point to be made.
- 27:06Speaker 3: The same with a lot of advocacy boots, ma'am. You know,
- 27:10Speaker 3: you know, I guess right now, you know a lot
- 27:11Speaker 3: of advocacy boops mam are only fighting to you know,
- 27:14Speaker 3: bring a willness to the families of you know, of
- 27:16Speaker 3: course rated individuals, and they're not willing to put the
- 27:19Speaker 3: footwork in, ma'am, to margin some of the courthouses and
- 27:23Speaker 3: the district attorney's offices and the governor's officers and the
- 27:26Speaker 3: state representness officers. Then the demand for better chances than
- 27:29Speaker 3: our come with justice system. I mean, you know, it's
- 27:32Speaker 3: one thing to say something, but it's another thing to
- 27:34Speaker 3: put in the footwork for mamson. Yes, ma'am, that would
- 27:37Speaker 3: be a good topic, ma'am, And I would be willing
- 27:39Speaker 3: to engage with you on that tonight.
- 27:41Speaker 1: Man.
- 27:41Speaker 8: Yeah, cause you know now you talk we talk about
- 27:46Speaker 8: this all the time. You know how we definitely talk
- 27:51Speaker 8: about James Legate a lot.
- 27:58Speaker 3: We have.
- 27:58Speaker 1: I had people asked me, well, how do you talk
- 28:02Speaker 1: to them?
- 28:03Speaker 3: How?
- 28:03Speaker 1: You know they want to know how do I.
- 28:06Speaker 8: Get in contact with them? These men's are in your state,
- 28:15Speaker 8: You would think that.
- 28:18Speaker 1: You would reach out to them, because I hear that
- 28:22Speaker 1: you that the men's are reaching.
- 28:24Speaker 3: Out to.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Them, but they don't get no respond I was in
- 28:31Speaker 1: that situation when.
- 28:35Speaker 8: With my husband, when I reached out to someone and
- 28:39Speaker 8: they never did respond back to me until the following year.
- 28:44Speaker 1: A couple of months after that.
- 28:45Speaker 8: The following year, but about the time they responded act
- 28:51Speaker 8: we had started. We had lunch, let's talk about it
- 28:56Speaker 8: and uh. One thing I always tell the men's when
- 29:01Speaker 8: I talk to them is that I can't promise you nothing.
- 29:05Speaker 1: The only thing I can do is get your story out.
- 29:10Speaker 1: Let people.
- 29:11Speaker 8: Let bring awareness to your story what's going on. And
- 29:18Speaker 8: a lot of them be like, Okay, you know, that's
- 29:21Speaker 8: all we want.
- 29:22Speaker 1: We just want to be heard.
- 29:28Speaker 3: Okay, yes, ma'am, let's see bank, ma'am. That's the truth.
- 29:32Speaker 3: A lot of us don't have no body to send
- 29:35Speaker 3: up for us. We can't reach out to nobody from
- 29:38Speaker 3: here that's willing to share our stories. Nobody's going to
- 29:41Speaker 3: put in any footwork for us on nobody to show
- 29:44Speaker 3: that we have been over there longfully convicted.
- 29:47Speaker 9: Ma'am.
- 29:48Speaker 3: We are really dealing with the status broken system in
- 29:50Speaker 3: the United States, you know, not just in sections but everywhere, man,
- 29:55Speaker 3: you know, because our systems have gotten so relaxed on
- 29:58Speaker 3: you know, the man tri I'm the enterprise that get
- 30:01Speaker 3: people are making. Man. So you know, like I said,
- 30:05Speaker 3: with that jest, man, we can basically get into an
- 30:07Speaker 3: engagement about that. Man. Man, I have some content on
- 30:10Speaker 3: that I was published and just finding off his mind
- 30:12Speaker 3: because I ain't, ma'am about that. So I would be
- 30:15Speaker 3: willing to get and get engaged with you on some
- 30:17Speaker 3: of that too, man.
- 30:18Speaker 1: Okay, then, so I just heard that we have a
- 30:20Speaker 1: minute left, So.
- 30:22Speaker 3: Yes, I'm gonna call back back now, Yes, ma'am, and
- 30:27Speaker 3: mister Holliday can get a few words in Ms. McNary.
- 30:31Speaker 3: Can't do that way. We can go ahead and get
- 30:33Speaker 3: hit the clothes out. But I'll go ahead and put
- 30:35Speaker 3: a few words in about we're talking about.
- 30:37Speaker 1: Okay, man, Okay.
- 30:39Speaker 8: Then, so I will be sitting here waiting for you
- 30:42Speaker 8: to call back. I didn't have a commercial to go to.
- 30:45Speaker 8: I didn't do nothing for a commercial song. Okay, I
- 30:47Speaker 8: guess I see her.
- 30:48Speaker 3: I'll be right.
- 30:50Speaker 1: I'll be right back, man, Okay, I'll be waiting on you.
- 30:53Speaker 3: The caller has hung up.
- 31:00Speaker 4: B show me that.
- 31:11Speaker 9: Oh somebody down you roll down me so home after
- 31:18Speaker 9: the search of my love all Hello.
- 31:23Speaker 7: Shine.
- 31:25Speaker 9: Away, nay from me.
- 31:29Speaker 1: In motel If not you, oh my god? Did hold.
- 31:43Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 31:45Speaker 1: Show me?
- 31:54Speaker 6: Oh I don't know you.
- 32:01Speaker 1: Well, we're back and we're just waiting for Cornell to come.
- 32:05Speaker 8: You know, I was just sitting here just listening to
- 32:08Speaker 8: that song and watching the men's faces come up.
- 32:14Speaker 1: One of them is my husband, and just just thinking,
- 32:21Speaker 1: you know, while like they give.
- 32:27Speaker 8: Damn, it's unbelievable of what they go through, what they
- 32:36Speaker 8: deal with, you know, here there here, they are fighting
- 32:41Speaker 8: for their freedom when they shouldn't be in there, when
- 32:45Speaker 8: they was fossily it's accused of doing something.
- 32:52Speaker 1: And now they fighting and it's going to take money
- 32:58Speaker 1: to get them out.
- 33:03Speaker 8: Some of these men's had, some of these men's had
- 33:10Speaker 8: have been timed, has been time board.
- 33:16Speaker 1: With the courts.
- 33:18Speaker 8: They say they don't exalt, exalted all their appeals, but
- 33:22Speaker 8: you know they still they still fight and they still
- 33:26Speaker 8: trying to find their little ounce, their little loophole. Some
- 33:31Speaker 8: of these states to say that we're gonna take for for.
- 33:39Speaker 1: Denver.
- 33:40Speaker 8: You know, they revised their Feeling any Murder Lost statue,
- 33:46Speaker 8: but it's not retroactive. So for the ones that's getting
- 33:51Speaker 8: charged with it was not even felling any murder no more.
- 33:54Speaker 8: They made it a class too.
- 33:57Speaker 1: Offense. So that I believe the sentence is forty years.
- 34:04Speaker 1: There's not no life sentence on there. But the ones
- 34:08Speaker 1: that went in before.
- 34:13Speaker 8: It was revived are serving a life sentence. And there
- 34:20Speaker 8: they are the ones that's fighting to come home and
- 34:27Speaker 8: they're innocent. I don't think that's fair. So I have
- 34:34Speaker 8: I'm very passionate about what I do. You know, our
- 34:39Speaker 8: criminal justice system it works in some cases, in other
- 34:50Speaker 8: cases it doesn't work.
- 34:53Speaker 1: And we see that and we hear it. We have
- 34:57Speaker 1: Cornell back with us. Welcome back, Thank you very much.
- 35:02Speaker 3: Okay, Well, I have brother Holiday right here. Basically this
- 35:07Speaker 3: situation is basically in line with what you were just
- 35:09Speaker 3: speaking about. Maw Yeah. Sendividual has been wrong for the
- 35:13Speaker 3: overly you know, wrongly convicted and senis to an amount
- 35:17Speaker 3: of sixty years now for a crime that doesn't meet
- 35:19Speaker 3: the punishment, ma'am, and would like to, you know, take
- 35:22Speaker 3: a few minutes to tell you his story, ma'am. So
- 35:24Speaker 3: I would like to bring him on first, and that
- 35:27Speaker 3: way I can go ahead and get with you and
- 35:28Speaker 3: we can kind of talk a little bit about the
- 35:30Speaker 3: other party.
- 35:30Speaker 8: Okay, we're gonna we're gonna give him probably about five
- 35:34Speaker 8: six minutes, you know.
- 35:36Speaker 3: Okay, man, okay, and we can do that. Were yougo, Hello, Hello,
- 35:44Speaker 3: mister Holiday, Hello, Miss Sicking.
- 35:48Speaker 1: I'm doing good in yourself.
- 35:52Speaker 3: And listen.
- 35:55Speaker 1: That's good. So so let's talk what you want to talk?
- 36:02Speaker 3: Uh yeah, I'd like to uh first, for I'd like
- 36:04Speaker 3: to induce myself my name and tell you the jail
- 36:06Speaker 3: I lam forming across left at the mid years un
- 36:10Speaker 3: and I'm an old for forty nine years and old
- 36:12Speaker 3: that they like to discussed the three things by my
- 36:15Speaker 3: Kith nineteen, I mean two thousand and thirteen, I was
- 36:21Speaker 3: an out reader but rested on some charges by being
- 36:26Speaker 3: incarcerated between two thy twenty thirteen and now I'm hood
- 36:30Speaker 3: right now, I've been fo was convicted and put up
- 36:34Speaker 3: the application and I was sing for sixty years the
- 36:37Speaker 3: Firement Tention Department of Criminal Justice system. But due to
- 36:41Speaker 3: the fact of the justice system, I was forced to
- 36:45Speaker 3: have to go trial because I was but I was.
- 36:51Speaker 3: I was tried because I know I couldn't miit the crime.
- 36:54Speaker 3: They try to say that I committed, but at the
- 36:57Speaker 3: time was that during that time I was trying to
- 37:01Speaker 3: have Milogy prevented me for trial and I felt like
- 37:03Speaker 3: that she said, can't pet our rights right off for me?
- 37:06Speaker 3: But then any make a sentence for me, making sure
- 37:09Speaker 3: enough I'm convicted for a Burke application that I may
- 37:12Speaker 3: not committed, because then that the citizen phase and that
- 37:15Speaker 3: the guilt and there's a phase of trial at the
- 37:17Speaker 3: guilt of the phrase trial. It was a scream as
- 37:19Speaker 3: offense was brought up about the servile brookers that was
- 37:22Speaker 3: going on by how I got involved in this situation
- 37:25Speaker 3: because I was the third boiler buying supposed to merchandise
- 37:28Speaker 3: off the street. And at that time when the Brucey
- 37:31Speaker 3: Dyce was fumer, they were trying to say that the
- 37:33Speaker 3: same day the house got keeped in. But what led
- 37:37Speaker 3: to that? What make y'all think that I was actually
- 37:41Speaker 3: that committed the scribe, You know what I'm saying. I
- 37:43Speaker 3: bought the stuff if treet, I just took somebody to
- 37:45Speaker 3: punt it. Because then we go ain't had no identifications.
- 37:49Speaker 3: So at that time I had to be the one
- 37:50Speaker 3: to go take their plenty form. So they try to
- 37:53Speaker 3: connect me to this Berkeley application and several more. But
- 37:56Speaker 3: the other one they couldn't. They couldn't actually make me
- 37:59Speaker 3: to them make the saying wrong this one right here,
- 38:01Speaker 3: because this one too, I felt like it was unjust
- 38:04Speaker 3: because at this time my laguy was insufficient. It is
- 38:07Speaker 3: because doing it give us an interface account. She across
- 38:11Speaker 3: an azambla Wi. He said he did want he seen
- 38:14Speaker 3: me come out this house which was gotten Montgomery. So
- 38:18Speaker 3: doing doing doing doing a gilt and interfecious rie. She
- 38:20Speaker 3: was across in Asamba and she bought an eye from
- 38:23Speaker 3: the hour with her that the same had they only
- 38:25Speaker 3: our wi them which was gotten my government. He said
- 38:28Speaker 3: that he did not recognize me the day of the
- 38:30Speaker 3: burglar abitation, so she asked him again and he said
- 38:34Speaker 3: the same thing. I'm not for sure him or not,
- 38:37Speaker 3: because I can't manage that that a long time. So
- 38:40Speaker 3: therefore I felt like my lordship should have done going
- 38:45Speaker 3: to the referee, the referee the game, because now she involved,
- 38:49Speaker 3: So now she got the decisions with me. She can
- 38:51Speaker 3: make it a bit for all, or she can make
- 38:53Speaker 3: it finally not guilty, finally guilt, but not finally guilty
- 38:56Speaker 3: at a higher chage. I should have got told with
- 38:58Speaker 3: the burglar applitation, which was a comman she missed for me,
- 39:01Speaker 3: But I ended up getting sixty years and pret which
- 39:03Speaker 3: is the live fending if it's a number they're doing
- 39:06Speaker 3: saying and there's another egg like doing six.
- 39:09Speaker 8: So you they gave you sixty They gave you, uh,
- 39:14Speaker 8: they gave you sixty years for a sentence that would
- 39:17Speaker 8: probably be in like six months in county jail, Yes, ma'am.
- 39:22Speaker 3: Yes, ma'am. So they tried, so what they did enhance
- 39:25Speaker 3: the conviction and the handsled that they used, they were
- 39:27Speaker 3: twenty five, they were twenty years old. So therefore I
- 39:30Speaker 3: just feel like my lady was getting ineffected doing doing
- 39:35Speaker 3: the course of their trial. But then once I got
- 39:37Speaker 3: to the guilt and ends of me to the Smizen
- 39:39Speaker 3: phase trial, the DA which was an ass counter, her
- 39:43Speaker 3: name was Beth episode she was bringing up the expremens
- 39:46Speaker 3: offenses and saying things towards the Jews that would facilitate
- 39:52Speaker 3: what I mean, but I put stuff in the head
- 39:54Speaker 3: and make them seem like this is what I do.
- 39:57Speaker 3: And then she read out of court statement they had
- 40:00Speaker 3: a lawyer had a lot on get on a witness
- 40:03Speaker 3: thing and testify by a statement that she seed me
- 40:05Speaker 3: come out another part of the house. But this house
- 40:08Speaker 3: is that she that the stable that she read. The
- 40:12Speaker 3: lady woman never testified in the uh beginnings that I
- 40:16Speaker 3: mean at the sentence phavors. So I felt like that
- 40:19Speaker 3: was a violation for my conscious life because I got
- 40:21Speaker 3: a right to cross the exam and on my bill.
- 40:23Speaker 3: So you read out of course statement when she wanted
- 40:25Speaker 3: to hear that give a meal wanted a cross dixam
- 40:28Speaker 3: though about what she was talking about on that statement.
- 40:30Speaker 3: So I feel like my lawyer speak upon that doing
- 40:33Speaker 3: that phase or either so the whole the whole city,
- 40:36Speaker 3: the whole scenario is that I had a They showed
- 40:41Speaker 3: me for something I didn't do. They couldn't never prove
- 40:43Speaker 3: it because they ain't had no DNA there and no
- 40:45Speaker 3: finger friends they and no full of friends and all
- 40:48Speaker 3: of your videos y'all sendens me and gave me six
- 40:51Speaker 3: years because I've been the full of y'all. Are you
- 40:52Speaker 3: my fride?
- 40:54Speaker 1: So did you have you fouled any emotions?
- 41:02Speaker 3: Well? Now I ain't getting a chance to find the
- 41:04Speaker 3: emotion because I told my mother was trying to find
- 41:06Speaker 3: the emotional when it was under way for a new trial,
- 41:08Speaker 3: and she failed to do that. But I feel like
- 41:11Speaker 3: I should have had a men' trible because the witness
- 41:13Speaker 3: testimony sayd that he's been ideath by me. He remember
- 41:16Speaker 3: I begged me, So they found me guilty. My mother work,
- 41:21Speaker 3: I don't know because the witness thing can identify me,
- 41:24Speaker 3: identify me. So whatever is to y'all got to leave
- 41:26Speaker 3: me to pim onever they they actually co proved doing that.
- 41:29Speaker 3: Whole pas the trial was that I stole mechan night
- 41:34Speaker 3: to the front shop, which the possession was full of egles.
- 41:37Speaker 3: That's the chage that I should have actually got charged
- 41:39Speaker 3: with and then y'all gave me six years, I'll over.
- 41:42Speaker 8: Sent it me, right, Yeah, I hear that a lot
- 41:47Speaker 8: about men and women getting over sentenced for something that
- 41:54Speaker 8: Carrie's probably about a six month time in jail in
- 41:59Speaker 8: the account need jail.
- 42:02Speaker 1: So what would you like the the uh, the audience
- 42:09Speaker 1: to know, I like, I need, I need help.
- 42:12Speaker 3: I need somebody that's gonna actually take time to look
- 42:14Speaker 3: at this case. And we grew up and actually helped
- 42:18Speaker 3: me because I got it. I gotta, I gotta, I gotta,
- 42:20Speaker 3: I gotta. I got a legal man. I got something
- 42:24Speaker 3: like to bring to according to prove my innocence of
- 42:26Speaker 3: the burglar. Have to take a chard, but I can
- 42:29Speaker 3: help the stole the good told I can. I can
- 42:31Speaker 3: still here with the burgers. I can't because they never
- 42:34Speaker 3: actually proved that I broke arized y'all pool that I
- 42:37Speaker 3: put on or something. That's the evidence that was shown
- 42:40Speaker 3: throughout the whole course of trial. So I would like
- 42:42Speaker 3: to somebody just actually just take time to go back
- 42:45Speaker 3: and look at my weapon and get in contact with
- 42:48Speaker 3: me and help me. But at the same time I
- 42:50Speaker 3: was on appeal and they recalled my man. They when
- 42:54Speaker 3: they becalled my man. They they never know, they never
- 42:57Speaker 3: noticified me what they we call a man. They saw
- 42:59Speaker 3: that that time brought me going to the latet shade,
- 43:03Speaker 3: which was the twenty two four they been they be
- 43:07Speaker 3: called the man they got in two thousand and I
- 43:10Speaker 3: want to say seventeen and it's twenty twenty five, and
- 43:13Speaker 3: that seven seven year letter. That's two longs. Even though
- 43:16Speaker 3: I never did fire my level most self get So
- 43:18Speaker 3: I need somebody to help me in that situation so
- 43:20Speaker 3: I can get back into the course with that and
- 43:23Speaker 3: get get get actually fired my fotal rip. When I
- 43:26Speaker 3: get out, I get released on this program.
- 43:29Speaker 1: So this is my last question. How much time have
- 43:35Speaker 1: you served so far on a sixty year sentence?
- 43:39Speaker 3: Twelve and a half.
- 43:40Speaker 8: Years, twelve and a half years. So you gave this
- 43:43Speaker 8: uh State of Texas twelve and a half years for
- 43:47Speaker 8: something that will carried a six month sentence, Yes, ma'am. Unbelievable, believable. Well,
- 44:01Speaker 8: mister Holliday, we're gonna give me a give me a
- 44:08Speaker 8: call on Friday so we can finish looking up that
- 44:16Speaker 8: your case.
- 44:18Speaker 1: I can go into the computer and look it up
- 44:20Speaker 1: since its public record, and don't forget.
- 44:29Speaker 3: I got.
- 44:31Speaker 1: Take it easy to you as well.
- 44:41Speaker 3: Okay, ma'am, thank you very much for that and done
- 44:44Speaker 3: wrong With that being said, ma'am, I would like to say,
- 44:50Speaker 3: I would like to thank missus Angela Thomas Smith a
- 44:53Speaker 3: lot of the articles that she has published in her
- 44:55Speaker 3: a spinal my regarding our pictures come justice system in
- 45:01Speaker 3: the state of Texas, because she has shared light and
- 45:05Speaker 3: has sent mysticism emails and complaints to our governor, our representatives.
- 45:12Speaker 3: I parole for mother than everybody about what's from hong
- 45:15Speaker 3: with our criminal justice system and the alarming crisis we
- 45:19Speaker 3: share within our criminal justice system. And one of the articles,
- 45:24Speaker 3: if I'm not pasific, and I would like to try
- 45:26Speaker 3: to share if I could find it, that she wrote
- 45:31Speaker 3: regarding what we do and what we have wrong with
- 45:34Speaker 3: our coronal justice and the article is basically calling for
- 45:41Speaker 3: Helbi to get involved.
- 45:44Speaker 1: The same.
- 45:44Speaker 3: Texas has a long intructing history of own the convictions
- 45:47Speaker 3: with thousands of paris and individuals current language and behind
- 45:50Speaker 3: volved in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice from evidence
- 45:54Speaker 3: time for into Coxcuit and Trondo. The plases from the
- 45:57Speaker 3: state's didicious systems have resulted in account on individuals being
- 46:00Speaker 3: wrongfully from fated and denies their freedom. The site being
- 46:05Speaker 3: known as the leading states of executions Texians also has
- 46:09Speaker 3: gained the unsalvary title of leading and exoneration. This is
- 46:13Speaker 3: a troubling trend that cannot be ignored and it is
- 46:16Speaker 3: time for the Department of Justice Gona Bean and investigate
- 46:19Speaker 3: the rampid corruption and the cons within the Texas judicious system.
- 46:24Speaker 3: This blame violation of the laws as a stock reminder
- 46:27Speaker 3: of the list that the shame that some but then
- 46:30Speaker 3: the system will go to in order to secure conviction
- 46:34Speaker 3: regardless of epicis potitionally that has been reports of the
- 46:39Speaker 3: same with our parole board system out of time and timelessly,
- 46:43Speaker 3: you know, marking our thought system numbers in order to
- 46:46Speaker 3: whole the innercent people behind boss. And with this being said, ma'am,
- 46:50Speaker 3: we're acting for an investigation. So what's going on right here, ma'am,
- 46:54Speaker 3: is that our system has been built to off the
- 46:59Speaker 3: conviction overly inclterate them for crimes a lot of them
- 47:03Speaker 3: didn't commit it. And we don't have a voice around
- 47:05Speaker 3: here because I stay representatives in our Texas senators around
- 47:09Speaker 3: there now listening to the people of the state of
- 47:11Speaker 3: Texas while it becomes of the private corporations that we're
- 47:16Speaker 3: dealing with now because we're being now sold off to
- 47:19Speaker 3: private prisons. Now I'm here in the state of Texas
- 47:22Speaker 3: and now our parole board systems is operating into these
- 47:24Speaker 3: individuals to hold us in prison loaners right now. We
- 47:28Speaker 3: have fifteen thousand inmates have made parole right now, and
- 47:33Speaker 3: we'll still here in the prison system. And that's very
- 47:35Speaker 3: sadness that it is.
- 47:37Speaker 8: Because I have talked to mister Bernard. He's still there.
- 47:44Speaker 8: Is he still there or did he go home?
- 47:47Speaker 3: Yes, ma'am, he's still here too, ma'am. We have fifteen
- 47:51Speaker 3: thousand inmates who have made parole here in the state
- 47:54Speaker 3: of Texas and we are still waiting to go home.
- 47:58Speaker 3: Why because our for old board system and I can
- 48:01Speaker 3: take the government have sold us off to a private
- 48:05Speaker 3: practice facility. So now here we are now these bans
- 48:09Speaker 3: are being paid for daily because they have to be
- 48:12Speaker 3: filled even if you discharge them. They are holding you
- 48:16Speaker 3: even plans or discharge states you have to make sure
- 48:20Speaker 3: that you be in this bunk six months.
- 48:22Speaker 1: How can they do that? How can they hold you
- 48:25Speaker 1: cast your release date.
- 48:29Speaker 3: Because of the contract that they have with this private
- 48:32Speaker 3: facility entity that this bunk has to be feeling the
- 48:36Speaker 3: only way we can get our money, that that individu
- 48:39Speaker 3: would has to be in this bunk six months, regardless
- 48:42Speaker 3: of the circumstances up their case. For me, I'm supposed
- 48:46Speaker 3: to have been there in October. I made for rolling July.
- 48:50Speaker 3: That gave me an extensive date till October. From October
- 48:54Speaker 3: to April should have been my release day. For no, man,
- 48:58Speaker 3: I didn't get here until Jane wear it and that
- 49:01Speaker 3: three months they put it on the back end of
- 49:04Speaker 3: the five six programs. So now they got me with
- 49:06Speaker 3: a July for a team day. And then you don't
- 49:09Speaker 3: get out on July, THEO then have to get to
- 49:13Speaker 3: a date for release, so you would have to wait
- 49:16Speaker 3: another month of the release date, and then you would
- 49:19Speaker 3: have to wait another month to get released.
- 49:21Speaker 1: Hmmm.
- 49:23Speaker 3: So this is what I state represented to the Texas
- 49:27Speaker 3: sentenis them and not looking at and we are part
- 49:30Speaker 3: of a multi trillion dollar enterprise. Man, and we'll be
- 49:34Speaker 3: an illegal to help even after making parole.
- 49:36Speaker 1: Man in the in the living conditions are are horrible, hor.
- 49:44Speaker 3: Yes, ma'am. Today we had a major and a woe
- 49:47Speaker 3: come over here today and they was talking about individuals
- 49:50Speaker 3: hanging their clothes up. So we told them one, well, watching,
- 49:53Speaker 3: we can't have a center of housing. Wow, because we
- 49:55Speaker 3: have earned the right to parole, therefore we should earn
- 49:58Speaker 3: the right to better living condition within the system. So
- 50:02Speaker 3: he said, Malisia. We brought this to the councilor of
- 50:04Speaker 3: the Management Training Program. Well, right now, man, we got
- 50:09Speaker 3: we had We didn't have no tallest working, we didn't
- 50:11Speaker 3: have no shops working, we didn't have anything working. But
- 50:14Speaker 3: thanks to you and missus Andreas Homer Smith, you know,
- 50:17Speaker 3: the advocate on our behalf, ma'am, we now have everything
- 50:20Speaker 3: work because y'all put it and take it upon y'allselves.
- 50:23Speaker 3: Now in the contact, I led this letter. I represented
- 50:26Speaker 3: this our ward, I'll say, our counselors and everybody to
- 50:30Speaker 3: make sure that these people will get down here and
- 50:32Speaker 3: fix this stuff. And yes, ma'am, they came to fix
- 50:35Speaker 3: this stuff. So you know with afiction.
- 50:38Speaker 8: I just got a real quick question. I don't mean
- 50:42Speaker 8: to cut you off. Do you guys have groups over
- 50:44Speaker 8: there that advacy groups that's suppose the applicant k on
- 50:51Speaker 8: behalf of the prison system.
- 50:56Speaker 3: Why yes, ma'am. Here in the state of Texas now
- 51:00Speaker 3: we have the textis Armonies Association, which is ranned by
- 51:03Speaker 3: miss Sharing Sharon McKinney. We have the Texas Prison Advocacy
- 51:09Speaker 3: of Alliance. We have the Texas Prison another alliance group.
- 51:15Speaker 3: But either way, these individual advocacy groups fans are only
- 51:20Speaker 3: advocating to bring awareness to the problems affected, like from
- 51:23Speaker 3: the justice system to the families. They are not actually
- 51:27Speaker 3: advocating for wrongful convictions. Cristmal justice are judges of violating
- 51:34Speaker 3: policies of corruption and bribery. District attorneys you just posting
- 51:39Speaker 3: us to convict the wrong individuals. District attorneys, you know,
- 51:44Speaker 3: paying bribes to the lawyers, and they don't. They don't
- 51:46Speaker 3: advocate for that. They understand that we're in here to
- 51:50Speaker 3: say whether or not an individual in may get a
- 51:52Speaker 3: tooth brush. If they don't get it, we're gonna contact
- 51:55Speaker 3: the world and make sure that this didn't make get
- 51:56Speaker 3: a toothbrush, or or he didn't get a shower or
- 51:59Speaker 3: something like that. They don't not here advocating for the
- 52:02Speaker 3: problem of really affecting our symtem to determine who has
- 52:05Speaker 3: been wrong be convicted and why, how do we get here.
- 52:08Speaker 3: They don't do that, man, and it's very sad man.
- 52:11Speaker 3: We're gonna put in nobody down because we appreciate what
- 52:14Speaker 3: they do, right, we appreciate that, but it's not that
- 52:18Speaker 3: we're asking for them to come and let's talk about
- 52:21Speaker 3: the real issues affecting our coming of justice.
- 52:24Speaker 1: Right.
- 52:26Speaker 3: Wow, Jelle's paying the loryer just double the amount of
- 52:29Speaker 3: money to help get or wrong for previction. That's not
- 52:31Speaker 3: right man. Our parole board system that ran five that's
- 52:37Speaker 3: your attorneys and judge. How can we get a fair
- 52:40Speaker 3: decision out of that? We cannot? And that's why we
- 52:43Speaker 3: are now dealing with being sold to a profit facility
- 52:48Speaker 3: because ours, a attorney's office, is a parolal board. Now
- 52:53Speaker 3: this is sad man. So for anybody that's listening to
- 52:57Speaker 3: this podcast tonight who are asking for yaal to, I
- 53:00Speaker 3: wanted us to stand with us because if we can't
- 53:02Speaker 3: stand together or something, we will stand alone for nothing.
- 53:05Speaker 3: We need to address our representatives, our sys. I covered us.
- 53:10Speaker 3: If anybody that's willing to stand with us to try
- 53:12Speaker 3: to see if we can get kind of practice as
- 53:14Speaker 3: a transparency within our formal justice system. So thank you
- 53:19Speaker 3: very much, now for me allowing me to seek about
- 53:21Speaker 3: these issues because they're very important. Anybody that's been wrong
- 53:25Speaker 3: playing over there in cultuted, we played for you and
- 53:27Speaker 3: we will be here to help you in any way
- 53:29Speaker 3: we hand. So we thank you very much now for
- 53:32Speaker 3: all the joll have done for us.
- 53:33Speaker 8: Okay, so we got ten minutes and I just want
- 53:40Speaker 8: I'm gonna say my little piece and then I'm gonna
- 53:43Speaker 8: go ahead and let you close it out.
- 53:55Speaker 1: I say this.
- 53:58Speaker 8: I know some of us have family members that's on
- 54:02Speaker 8: a behind the wall. We know people that's behind the wall,
- 54:10Speaker 8: and some of them are guilty, some of them is not.
- 54:15Speaker 8: But who are we to judge. We're not We're not
- 54:21Speaker 8: supposed to judge. The living conditions in these prisons. Some
- 54:32Speaker 8: of them are horrible. And I want you guys, want
- 54:41Speaker 8: to talk to your loved ones. Reach out to them
- 54:44Speaker 8: and see how they're doing. Check on them wellness, check
- 54:50Speaker 8: just say hey, drop them a line and just see
- 54:54Speaker 8: how they how they mental mental capacity, is their mind?
- 55:01Speaker 8: Just see how they're doing. You know, some of them
- 55:08Speaker 8: be excited to get a letter just to say hi,
- 55:12Speaker 8: I was thinking about you.
- 55:15Speaker 1: You know, it makes their day. Uh, you got check
- 55:28Speaker 1: in on let's not throw throw our men and our
- 55:36Speaker 1: women away.
- 55:37Speaker 3: Let's not do that.
- 55:40Speaker 1: Let's not that's not.
- 55:42Speaker 8: Let us let us, let us come together. Let us
- 55:48Speaker 8: you know, everybody say that, oh I love God, I'm
- 55:55Speaker 8: a Christian and whoop, whoop this you said, you got say.
- 56:00Speaker 3: All of this.
- 56:03Speaker 1: But are you really doing the work?
- 56:09Speaker 8: Are you really looking at your fellow man? No, I'm
- 56:14Speaker 8: not gonna say that, because we're we are brothers and sisters.
- 56:19Speaker 8: We're just in different ethnic groups. We are passified as brothers.
- 56:26Speaker 8: And are you looking at your brother and sister with
- 56:30Speaker 8: your human eyes? Are you looking at them with your
- 56:35Speaker 8: spiritual eyes, with the because if you ask God to
- 56:41Speaker 8: give you the eyes to see how He see a person,
- 56:45Speaker 8: it's totally different. It's totally different. Be a voice, stand
- 57:00Speaker 8: do for what's right.
- 57:03Speaker 1: Speak out cornell.
