- 0:00Speaker 1: To Mark Simone Onoor.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Well, every night at nine, Jimmy Fayla does a great show.
- 0:08Speaker 2: It's every night at nine here on w R nine
- 0:11Speaker 2: to midnight Monday through Friday. And you know, on the
- 0:14Speaker 2: weekends on Saturday night does the best late night show
- 0:17Speaker 2: on television on the Fox News Channel. Saturday Night's at ten.
- 0:21Speaker 2: And he's with us right now, Jimmy Fayla, How.
- 0:23Speaker 3: You doing, I'm doing. I'm down in DC right now
- 0:28Speaker 3: and I'm about to head over to the White House.
- 0:31Speaker 3: I got a big day ahead of me, Mark Simona soon,
- 0:33Speaker 3: assuming I.
- 0:34Speaker 4: Can get through security, It's going to be a big day.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Wow.
- 0:36Speaker 2: President Trump loves your Saturday night show. He's a big
- 0:38Speaker 2: fan of it. What are you gonna be doing at
- 0:39Speaker 2: the White House?
- 0:41Speaker 3: Well, I am so this weekend I'm hosting, obviously Fox's
- 0:46Speaker 3: live coverage of the White House Correspondence Dinner. It's going
- 0:48Speaker 3: to be it's gonna start at nine pm because Trump
- 0:50Speaker 3: is speaking, and they basically have me hosting a three
- 0:53Speaker 3: hour red carpet show because they don't want me anywhere
- 0:57Speaker 3: near an open bar, as you'd imagine. You know, it's
- 1:01Speaker 3: not enough to do your hour, You've got to do
- 1:02Speaker 3: everyone else's hour too, so we know where you are
- 1:04Speaker 3: at all the time. But today at the White House,
- 1:07Speaker 3: we're gonna be shooting footage.
- 1:09Speaker 1: That will air during that during that show, so I got.
- 1:12Speaker 3: To interview a couple of our White House correspondents, Peter Doocy,
- 1:15Speaker 3: Jackie Heinrich, and I may or may not have an
- 1:18Speaker 3: audience with the President later in the day, depending on
- 1:20Speaker 3: how a schedule looks.
- 1:21Speaker 1: So this is the comp before the storm.
- 1:23Speaker 4: Man, I just got to get my act together.
- 1:25Speaker 3: And as long as I can get my cocaine out
- 1:27Speaker 3: of the White.
- 1:28Speaker 1: House, balkers, it's the windows. Well.
- 1:30Speaker 2: President Trump has, he's quite an ear to the ground.
- 1:34Speaker 2: He'll know you're in the building. If he knows you're
- 1:36Speaker 2: in the building, he'll come find you because he's a
- 1:38Speaker 2: big fan of yours.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Fun So it would be cool.
- 1:42Speaker 2: I guarantee by the end of the day you'll be
- 1:43Speaker 2: in a conversation with him.
- 1:45Speaker 1: So I will keep you posted. Man, you never know
- 1:50Speaker 1: this White.
- 1:51Speaker 2: House Correspondent's dinner. President, by the way, is one of
- 1:55Speaker 2: the great greatest roaster ever in politics. He's done a
- 1:58Speaker 2: million Friars Club roast, a dozen Comedy Central roasts. He's
- 2:02Speaker 2: an incredible roaster at the Al Smith and he's gonna
- 2:05Speaker 2: let these fake news people have it Saturday night. What
- 2:08Speaker 2: do you think they're going to do to respond?
- 2:11Speaker 3: That's what I think is going to be interesting because
- 2:12Speaker 3: there's going to be half the room will be there
- 2:14Speaker 3: to protest and the other half I think will get it.
- 2:19Speaker 3: Meaning this is an opportunity for a Kumbai moment. But
- 2:23Speaker 3: I don't know that Trump wants one.
- 2:25Speaker 1: That's my that's my that's my concern.
- 2:28Speaker 4: Uh.
- 2:29Speaker 3: You know, Trump and the you know the media have
- 2:32Speaker 3: this Hatfield McCoy thing going on, and I think he
- 2:36Speaker 3: kind of enjoys that.
- 2:37Speaker 1: So my expectation for real is that.
- 2:40Speaker 3: He probably is working with some comedy writers and they're
- 2:44Speaker 3: probably gonna go on offense. I would expect him to
- 2:47Speaker 3: go on offense. Hopefully he self deprecates just enough that
- 2:51Speaker 3: the media can you know, bear being the subject of
- 2:54Speaker 3: a joke, which is hard for a lot of those egos.
- 2:56Speaker 3: But it's a spectacle like I'll be there, not I'm
- 2:59Speaker 3: like I will be on the red carpet nine to midnight.
- 3:01Speaker 3: I'll be inside the dinner watching the whole thing, like
- 3:04Speaker 3: I want a heckle man. It's gonna be really lively,
- 3:08Speaker 3: And I think my only concern is the guy asked for.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Trump is the mentalist.
- 3:11Speaker 4: You know what was the mentalist?
- 3:12Speaker 1: Oh? Was Pearlman? Yeah, oz, Yeah, that's right. He's a
- 3:16Speaker 1: brilliant guy. Okay.
- 3:17Speaker 3: My concern is he's gonna guess the nuclear codes get
- 3:21Speaker 3: us in trouble. So I got to keep that guy
- 3:24Speaker 3: in check and see where the Trump thing goes.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, I don't understand. See like you on stage,
- 3:29Speaker 2: you still tour all over the country. Unbelievable on stage, energy,
- 3:33Speaker 2: loud volume, you like, fill the room. How's a mentalist
- 3:36Speaker 2: with a deck of cards? How do you play that?
- 3:39Speaker 2: Three thousand people in a ballroom?
- 3:42Speaker 3: Tricks a lot of the same questions you have. You know,
- 3:48Speaker 3: you're used to like the high octane thing. But I've
- 3:51Speaker 3: had him on my TV show a few times. He
- 3:53Speaker 3: is a very charismatic guy. And because he knows where
- 3:57Speaker 3: the trick is going, you know, he kind of in
- 3:59Speaker 3: his head has a lot of room to tell you
- 4:02Speaker 3: jokes along the way because he's kind of leading the
- 4:05Speaker 3: witness through his little narrative. So I would actually expect
- 4:09Speaker 3: him to do better then if I was there two
- 4:11Speaker 3: years ago. They had Colin jokes from Saturday Night Live.
- 4:15Speaker 1: He just bombed like it was tough man. Not only
- 4:19Speaker 1: did he like it not work.
- 4:21Speaker 3: But he you know, he was He accepted the fact
- 4:23Speaker 3: that it wasn't working early on and never tried to
- 4:26Speaker 3: turn it around. Meaning as comedians, if you jokes aren't
- 4:30Speaker 3: going over, you start to make jokes about how your
- 4:33Speaker 3: jokes aren't working. You know, that's your way to get
- 4:36Speaker 3: the thing back on track and turn it into a win.
- 4:39Speaker 1: And he didn't do that.
- 4:40Speaker 3: He just shouted the jokes into the night sky.
- 4:42Speaker 1: They fell flat. He'd make a smirk and he'd move on.
- 4:46Speaker 3: And I would expect, oh is I'm not kidding, to
- 4:49Speaker 3: do better than most comics, just because his approach is
- 4:52Speaker 3: a little broader, Like he's not going to be telling
- 4:55Speaker 3: jokes based on the results of the Virginia special election
- 4:58Speaker 3: on Tuesday night.
- 4:59Speaker 1: WHI help with the audience?
- 5:01Speaker 2: Yeah, hey, I know you guys don't like people looking
- 5:04Speaker 2: under the hood, But explain some technique here, like like
- 5:08Speaker 2: Joe still come out and he's a little quiet, but
- 5:12Speaker 2: real comediansyug you another careal comman, you know how to
- 5:14Speaker 2: come out and boom. Just take charge of the room.
- 5:17Speaker 2: It's about volume, it's about movement. Explain that a little.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Well, this is the truth.
- 5:23Speaker 3: In comedy, people always say, you know you hear the
- 5:26Speaker 3: phrase read the room used a lot in politics, but
- 5:29Speaker 3: in comedy you have to you have to lead the room.
- 5:32Speaker 3: You have to lead the room. Like and if everybody
- 5:34Speaker 3: listening things back to like a Rodney Dangerfield, you know,
- 5:37Speaker 3: when they shoot him out of a cannon. He absolutely
- 5:39Speaker 3: positively came out there and led the room, told his jokes,
- 5:43Speaker 3: bounced around the stage, made some faces, reacted to the crowd.
- 5:47Speaker 1: He was very much in command.
- 5:49Speaker 4: That is the key to being a successful comic is
- 5:52Speaker 4: you have.
- 5:52Speaker 1: To be in command of the room.
- 5:54Speaker 3: So if you think about it like you're an air
- 5:56Speaker 3: force you know, you're an airline pilot.
- 5:58Speaker 1: The pilot doesn't read the room. He doesn't say, if
- 6:00Speaker 1: it's okay with you, we're.
- 6:01Speaker 3: Third in line. We're gonna go up to thirty seven
- 6:04Speaker 3: thousand feet. He says, no, we're third, taking off.
- 6:06Speaker 4: Put your seabelts on, shut up, thank you.
- 6:08Speaker 1: B line delta that whole thing.
- 6:09Speaker 4: Yeah, that's what you gotta do.
- 6:10Speaker 1: You got to lead the room. You got to be
- 6:12Speaker 1: in control.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Yeah, you know you're worried about being nervous, but you
- 6:15Speaker 2: don't want to make the audience nervous. You got to
- 6:16Speaker 2: come out there like you're in charge. Don't worry, You're
- 6:18Speaker 2: in good hands. I can take care of this.
- 6:20Speaker 1: And yeah.
- 6:21Speaker 3: So yeah, because the other thing is, man, you're selling fun.
- 6:24Speaker 3: You're selling them a good time. So if you're having
- 6:27Speaker 3: a good time, it's a lot easier for them to
- 6:29Speaker 3: have one with you. That's why the other late night
- 6:31Speaker 3: comics and even Colin Joe's didn't do good at that roast.
- 6:34Speaker 3: It's because they don't look like they're there in the
- 6:36Speaker 3: name of fun. You know, if you show up to
- 6:39Speaker 3: a comedy show and the guy's scowling, you're not going like, Okay,
- 6:43Speaker 3: get ready for some fun, everybody.
- 6:46Speaker 2: Now, you do the best.
- 6:47Speaker 1: That's the big challenge.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Yeah, you do you do the best late night show
- 6:51Speaker 2: on television Saturday nights at ten, you watch Kimmel or
- 6:53Speaker 2: Colbert come out, they look like they're going to commit
- 6:56Speaker 2: suicide later that night. They look so angry and bitter.
- 7:00Speaker 3: No, it's like, I haven't seen a group of people
- 7:03Speaker 3: that upset since Mondani hugged the mess mascot. You know,
- 7:07Speaker 3: it's like put them on a twelve game losing streak.
- 7:10Speaker 1: But you're right, and they don't. And that's the point.
- 7:13Speaker 3: That drives me crazy as a TV host is we
- 7:15Speaker 3: have the most unique jobs in the world when it
- 7:18Speaker 3: comes to late night comedy. There's not a loot of
- 7:19Speaker 3: them out there. If you're lucky enough to have one.
- 7:22Speaker 3: I think you owe a debt to everyone who did
- 7:25Speaker 3: this before us to kind of do it in that
- 7:28Speaker 3: traditional style. I don't mean you can't come up with
- 7:30Speaker 3: your own scance of.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Your own jokes. Obviously you should, but in terms.
- 7:33Speaker 3: Of the intent of the programming, it should be there
- 7:36Speaker 3: to bargain with the viewer in good faith, not to
- 7:38Speaker 3: tell them fascists are about to take away our elections
- 7:41Speaker 3: and women don't have rights. You know, it's just a
- 7:44Speaker 3: buz till you know when you watch those concerts where
- 7:46Speaker 3: they start lecturing you about climate change halfway through and
- 7:50Speaker 3: you're like, dude, shut up. We were dancing. I was
- 7:53Speaker 3: trying to get this girl's phone number, and now you
- 7:56Speaker 3: just told me the O Zone's gonna kill us all.
- 7:58Speaker 3: Thanks way to go, Springsteen.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's fifty years later in the Ozone s
- 8:02Speaker 2: and coused the problem. But the White House, Chris Spines
- 8:07Speaker 2: Dinner is Saturday night. You'll be hosting nine to midnight
- 8:11Speaker 2: this week. That'll be great. And then and you know
- 8:13Speaker 2: they got all these parties every night. You're going to
- 8:15Speaker 2: any of those?
- 8:17Speaker 3: Yeah, man, we'll make the round tonight and tomorrow. What's
- 8:20Speaker 3: interesting about these is you see all the other TV
- 8:23Speaker 3: hosts there from the other network, So it's like.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Kind of a chance to mix, you know, mix friends
- 8:27Speaker 1: a little bit. Not that they're all very friendly, but
- 8:30Speaker 1: I get a kick.
- 8:31Speaker 4: I get a kick out of going to these things.
- 8:33Speaker 3: And I get in easy because I dress like a waiter,
- 8:35Speaker 3: so they let me into just about everything and I.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Meet everybody, Like I'll have some real good intel for
- 8:41Speaker 1: you the next time we're on next week.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Yeah, they're not the greatest party because if you really
- 8:45Speaker 2: want to have fun, you don't want to be in
- 8:46Speaker 2: a room with Jen Saki and Rachel Maddout. I mean,
- 8:49Speaker 2: this is not the most.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Life that's funny. Yeah, No, I know. The worst was
- 8:55Speaker 1: last year when Karine John Pierre was there.
- 8:57Speaker 3: The waiter asked her what she was having and she
- 8:59Speaker 3: had to go through a bar to come up with
- 9:00Speaker 3: an answer. It's like, come on, man, let's answer the question.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Hey, they keep talking about President Trump. Look at US
- 9:05Speaker 2: approval ratings. Look at us You know, they never mentioned
- 9:08Speaker 2: on any of these shows, all these same polls, Democrats
- 9:11Speaker 2: in Congress are at the lowest approval rating anything in
- 9:14Speaker 2: the world has ever been at. Isn't that amazing?
- 9:18Speaker 3: Yeah, it's funny how that works because they always say, yeah,
- 9:21Speaker 3: these guys at forty But if they're at thirteen percent,
- 9:27Speaker 3: the headline should be Trump leads the Democrats by a lot.
- 9:32Speaker 1: That should be the headline.
- 9:34Speaker 3: It should not be look at Trump's numbers. It should
- 9:36Speaker 3: be Wow, he's way in the lead. That's why I
- 9:39Speaker 3: think they have a better.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Shot in the midterms than anyone's letting on. Yeah.
- 9:42Speaker 2: Now, the most interesting news is the news they never report,
- 9:45Speaker 2: like they take that the Southern Poverty Law Center story.
- 9:49Speaker 2: Oh yeah, and what a stupid name, the Southern Poverty
- 9:52Speaker 2: Law Center. What does it even mean?
- 9:54Speaker 1: I know, it's crazy. So what they do is, as
- 9:56Speaker 1: you know, and your audience probably knows by.
- 9:58Speaker 3: Now, they are post to track the incidents of eight
- 10:03Speaker 3: and white supremacy, and then they fundraise off of that.
- 10:07Speaker 3: They go, oh, look at all these racists. You gotta
- 10:08Speaker 3: give us some money so we can go get to
- 10:10Speaker 3: the bottom of this and alert the media and.
- 10:12Speaker 1: All these racists.
- 10:13Speaker 3: And of course they didn't have a lot to report on,
- 10:16Speaker 3: so they started staging events and this.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Is the criminal indictment. As you know.
- 10:20Speaker 3: They were hiring groups like the klu Klux Klan and saying, hey,
- 10:24Speaker 3: how about you throw a rally and then we can
- 10:26Speaker 3: report on this crazy clan rally and then people will
- 10:28Speaker 3: give us money. And if you look in twenty seventeen,
- 10:31Speaker 3: the net worth or whatever the.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Money they have banked anyway went.
- 10:34Speaker 4: Up how many hundreds of a percent three hundred and.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Twenty one or something? Crazy?
- 10:37Speaker 2: Yeah, bananas, wow.
- 10:39Speaker 1: And they're making it up.
- 10:40Speaker 3: That's the point. It's it's Scooby Doo.
- 10:42Speaker 1: Yeah, well you end of Scooby Do.
- 10:44Speaker 3: You take the mask off the guy that is the
- 10:46Speaker 3: Southern Poverty Law Center, You take the mask off at
- 10:48Speaker 3: the end of the clan rally and it's the people
- 10:50Speaker 3: running the laws in like, wait.
- 10:52Speaker 1: A minute, this is crazy.
- 10:53Speaker 3: Some of you were black.
- 10:54Speaker 1: What's happening here?
- 10:57Speaker 2: Hey, Jimmy Faylo will be on you gotta listen to
- 10:59Speaker 2: me w R every night nine to midnight. What do
- 11:02Speaker 2: you got on tonight show.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Oh, it's gonna be a Washington Week exclusive.
- 11:08Speaker 3: It's basically, anybody I run into today at the White House,
- 11:11Speaker 3: we will drag them onto the show. So it's a
- 11:13Speaker 3: grab bag. You might hear a little Caroline Levitt, you know,
- 11:16Speaker 3: maybe the trump Man. We honestly, we don't know. We're
- 11:18Speaker 3: going over there now with a camera crew and a
- 11:20Speaker 3: bunch of microphones and we're gonna.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Work this out.
- 11:22Speaker 2: All right, there's gonna be a picture of you and
- 11:24Speaker 2: Trump on Instagram by the end of the day. I
- 11:26Speaker 2: guarantee it.
- 11:28Speaker 1: That'd be funny.
- 11:29Speaker 2: So this Saturday night, Normally he's on at ten o'clock
- 11:32Speaker 2: on Saturday nights, but this Saturday night, watch you'll be
- 11:34Speaker 2: on nine to midnight on the Fox News channel. White
- 11:37Speaker 2: House Corresponds.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Dinner, Let's get them.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Yeah, don't watch any board, don't watch any boring c
- 11:42Speaker 2: Span coverage of that dinner. Watch Fox News. No chance.
- 11:46Speaker 2: Now I'll be there. I'll make you proud. Mark anybody
