- 0:00[SPEAKER_02]: Welcome back to the Big Play Cleveland show, LeBron, James, free agency continues to dominate the NBA off season and we're joined by a friend of show NBA inside and we've got Scoop B. Robinson joining us to separate fact from fiction obviously Cleveland remains in the conversation as one of the top.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_02]: speculated destinations for the four-time MVP and scoop.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_02]: I got to tell you since the last time I've we've had you on.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_02]: I did have a dream and then the dream he went to the Warriors.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_02]: It was crazy.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_02]: Like, and it felt so vivid and real.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_02]: I hope it's not real, but you got to give us the latest.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_02]: Where are you feeling about LeBron landing and how fast you think he's going to be making his decision here?
- 0:41[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you're on a Cleveland show and you're talking about having a dream or something.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe it was a nightmare.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_02]: My subconscious fears.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it comes down to two teams, really, from everyone I spoke to.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_01]: You don't meet Mel is from Philadelphia and dreams and nightmares.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_01]: It's a song you want like this to shine like that.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully for the click reviewers that are here, watching your programming, Cleveland is the destination if you check out my reporting over at scoopy.com that I've released last night.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_01]: It talked about just the winding terms that go into the whole process and you even hope.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_01]: So Kenny Akinson kind of give his two cents on the matter, not mentioning LeBrand by name, but obviously you know what is.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_01]: Every indication that I've gotten is that Cleveland is still the front runner.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_01]: And it's interesting.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_01]: The Golden Girls was a show that my grandmother I watched with her when I was a kid.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_01]: Picture it, New York City, July 16th and 17th.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_01]: Phenetic Fest is having their live taping of mine the game with LeBron James, with special guests, Tyreys Halleberg, as the recording guests will actually be live.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_01]: And if you look at my reporting over Scooby.com, I actually wrote Sunday night.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_01]: The perfect place for LeBron James to actually reveal his decision would seemingly be New York City.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_01]: He was at the JZ concert over the weekend at Yankee Stadium.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_01]: JZ, of course, had three shows yesterday the show didn't end until almost three or four clock at the morning, I'm told, but LeBron James is taking his sweet cop and I'm not mad at him.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_01]: What's the rush?
- 2:12[SPEAKER_04]: Scoop, I think you've got a lot of Clevelanders that are reading your reporting that are reading between the tea leaves you mentioned New York City in this fanatics fan fest that's getting ready to go down later this week.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_04]: Do we really think that that could potentially be the stage for a potential LeBron James announcement?
- 2:33[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, if Clevelanders remember, I know it's a source by the Northeast Ohio and I want to be sensitive to that, but the decision is the decision 2.0 and reverses it is it is it is it is it or is it a simply handwritten letter in Sports Illustrated I believe it was it was Jenkins the EP wrote the piece, but I
- 2:55[SPEAKER_01]: I know in LeBron and knowing how much JZ inspires him in the whole weekend and the fact that fanatic spes, fanatic is actually owned by, if I'm not mistaken, in some way, the Harris group, where there's a partnership there with JZ Harris, who was the owner of the Philadelphia 76ers.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of synergies there.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_01]: Also, one would imagine that that would be the place fanatic, so it's has a lot of money there.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_01]: Even in the sports bedding space, I'm sure, you know,
- 3:21[SPEAKER_01]: could be a thing.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_01]: You've seen in recent years that public figures have used these platforms like this, even if I'm not mistaken.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think it was the net expense, but it was a function similar where Dylan Harper now of the San Antonio spurs used a function to announce his commitment to rockers, then at down by school prep went there.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_01]: So to me, the tea leaves are there, but but also if you go back to my reporting in the article over Scooby.com in the blouse,
- 3:51[SPEAKER_01]: There are some moving pieces that I reported that LeBron James has an angling that he's uncomfortable with the whole Joelle and B portion of it in Philadelphia.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_01]: Joelle and B LeBron do some of the same things as far as ball moves mid, play calling and and the flow of traffic if you will.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_01]: He has concerns about
- 4:18[SPEAKER_01]: his health.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_01]: And they've traded barbs in the past, do the media.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: But from conversations that I'd had in the league, specifically over the weekend, that is a concern that Philadelphia has.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_01]: Or LeBron has about Philadelphia and I'll add that it was a report that came out prior to the draft with fully interested in potentially moving some pieces to move up in the draft and getting certain people.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_01]: And
- 4:43[SPEAKER_01]: There was conversation about Philadelphia moving Joe LNB to the Dallas Mavericks and it didn't happen, but the conversations as I reported in my article only amplified.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_01]: And Philadelphia has a center problem, but they also have a center problem that actually helps them.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_01]: If the 76ers want to appease LeBron, Joel and Bee might be in their best interest to move from what I'm told, and then that opens a wider conversation.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_01]: Any article I mentioned that left some potential ideas and how they could make that happen.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_01]: But I know this is a Cleveland show and I know that Cleveland, you know, what's LeBron?
- 5:33[SPEAKER_01]: I also think LeBron and Rich Paul, his agent are milking this.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_01]: He not only is Anthony Davis, a conversational starter because of the Warriors.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_01]: Dray Montgomery is a conversational starter because the Warriors.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_01]: Anthony Davis and Dray Montgomery are both clutch clients as well as LeBron.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_01]: And a lot of this stuff, as I've mentioned, using the word leverage, stems around the fact that Rich Paul wants Anthony Davis to get a loan worth going to deal with the Washington Wizards.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_01]: I can tell you that Tray Young has asked at length since Anthony Davis has been in Washington to stay.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_01]: in Washington, Tray Young is also a class client.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_01]: It's a lot of clutch moving pieces, aligning with Philadelphia, aligning with Cleveland.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_01]: I know I gave a lot in this long for peace, for about 1,500 words.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_01]: But yes, Cleveland does have a shot.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_01]: I've always been told that Cleveland was the favorite, but there's also other business pieces that are aligning in this.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't want to ramble, but yes.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_04]: Scoop, you mentioned the business there.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_04]: And I wanna ask you this, and probably a longer-winded way.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_04]: And Northeast Ohio, like we understand firsthand because we've done this a couple of times now, that LeBron and the clutch and the business side of things keep their decisions very hushed, very internal.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_04]: There is no leaks to the media unintentionally from that group, but in Cleveland, we have a little bit of a different thing here where the streets talk.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_04]: when it comes to LeBron James, and some of the area businesses, some of the area relationships that he's made just since his youth in Northeast Ohio, starts to understand when something could be on the horizon.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_04]: And last week, around Wednesday and Thursday, the streets were getting pretty loud when it comes to some area businesses, some community relationships that LeBron James
- 7:22[SPEAKER_04]: Bill, kind of saying that LeBron and Brownie could be on the way back home again.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_04]: What do you make of that?
- 7:30[SPEAKER_04]: It is completely separate sourcing from I'm sure the people that you're talking to in the NBA sphere and the media sphere and I think the calves are optimistic about how this thing is going to go but the streets in terms of the businesses and some of the community partners that LeBron has are feeling pretty darn good that they're on their way back.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_01]: First of all, I'll say that while I'm not from Cleveland, I grew up in both Northern New Jersey and New York City.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_01]: I had been accepted within your community since 2014.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_01]: Covering the CADs at points with Madron and Kyrie were there and also being a busy professor at Highland University.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_01]: And it's still have long standing relationships there and so while I'm not a native, I do see here a lot of those business things that you speak of it and I want to imagine that one of those business things that you speak of is Lebron having a dinner with his friends at Buckets in Akron.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_01]: uh, with along with a Romeo Travis along with his chief of staff ready men's and Brandon Weems, who is the assistant GM of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_01]: He grew up with LeBron and Akron and and also went to St. Vincent, St. Mary's High School and Akron and I think where I'm going with this is this.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_01]: while optics are optics, friends are friends.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_01]: I would imagine that because I've been, and I could say this, I've been on your show as a guest and a friend of the show, me and you can also go out to eat after.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_01]: And people would assume that you and I are talking business, but we're really just hanging out as friends.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_01]: I think we have to separate those optics from the fact that those guys are friends, whether they're working,
- 9:15[SPEAKER_01]: within a team capacity and MBA or not, they're kind of intertwined.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_01]: However, I will say that this is a bit different because LeBron is in his free agency and nothing that LeBron does is by accident.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that based upon those optics,
- 9:36[SPEAKER_01]: I can say that Brennan wings being the system GM of the Cleveland Cavaliers is to Cleveland's benefit, but also LeBron's benefit as well.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_01]: More specifically, you didn't ask this, but I'll tell you, I've been told that if LeBron does, South of the Cavaliers, Brennan wings will become the next general manager of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_01]: Blaring business, blaring friendship, but let's be clear.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_01]: The Browl was started playing golf in Northern New Jersey, looking at the new Twin Towers him and hadn't.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_01]: You don't just play golf by yourself.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure golf was a meeting about something, just like sitting court side.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_01]: Jay-Z, popularized sitting court side.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_01]: That's like playing golf in the same vein.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_01]: I think you can separate French from business, but business is still business.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_01]: I thought you were going to go along the lines of the cupcake lady and her having a 95% accuracy.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_01]: I've never met her, but I did talk to Charles Oakley about that and you saw that in my reporting, this goes back all the way back to May.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, Charles Oakley is considered almost an uncle to LeBron.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_01]: Charles Oakley simply said, LeBron should have a come back in Cavaliers or retire.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_01]: And, um, a native of Cleveland, I think he would know better than anyone, one, the significance of LeBron and Cleveland and two, the psyche of a Cleveland sports fan, and three, the psyche of an NBA player.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_01]: Because he also said, LeBron doesn't Oak Cleveland anything at this point.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_01]: He got him a championship in 2016.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_01]: If he were to walk,
- 11:10[SPEAKER_01]: Would you really be mad at them, but in the same breath, LeBron and Rich Pol have been teasing this for the past year.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_01]: You go back to my reporting last summer, we've been going back and forth.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_01]: It was 14s, now with 16s.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_01]: And ultimately, I also do think that these guys are stretching out the inevitable.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_01]: Is it Cleveland?
- 11:31[SPEAKER_01]: Is it Philly?
- 11:32[SPEAKER_01]: Is it Miami?
- 11:33[SPEAKER_01]: Personally, I don't think Miami is a fit at his Big O age.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but from a personal standpoint, from a basketball standpoint, if it's Philadelphia fits because of his relationship with Mike Yes, he wasn't Mike, number the second best basketball player in the state of Ohio behind LeBron James, those guys have been rivals for years, the Joe LnD part is a fit.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_01]: The other part that's interesting about Cleveland, you've seen Rich Paul with his white board and and and him talk about James Harden, I detailed a story.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_01]: Uh,
- 12:08[SPEAKER_01]: In my article over at scooby.com, where I talked about James Hardin's time and Philadelphia during the play, also believe it was the Simmy Finals in 2023 against the Boston Celtics.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_01]: And after Game 1, James had over 40 points in Game 2, Joe L and B returned, and James had 12 points, horrible shooting, and Rich Paul approached James Hardin in a hallway and said,
- 12:36[SPEAKER_01]: You can't score 12 points in the game, and I'm paraphrasing.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_01]: James nodded, and he kept the movement.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_01]: Dr. Rivers actually had to intervene in that situation.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_01]: But you also got to remember Rich Paul making those comments about James Harden on his class, and he's a competitor.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_01]: Back when Rob Puglinka was,
- 12:57[SPEAKER_01]: an agent at Lamar.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_01]: He and Pelinco were competing for the right to represent James Hardin as a client and Rob Pelinco, of course, got the better of the deal and signed James Hardin and Pelinco got him the indeedest deal.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_01]: And
- 13:12[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to say friction sour about it, but I also believe that if I have plans, I'm not going to really tell you I'm going to throw you off as best as I can to keep the suspense going.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_01]: Have you guys ever heard this joke?
- 13:24[SPEAKER_01]: And I want you to answer it.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_01]: How do you keep it idiot busy for hours?
- 13:30[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I'm too much of an idiot to know the answer.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_01]: How do you keep a bit of an idiot busy for hours?
- 13:42[SPEAKER_04]: I'm trying to guess.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_04]: I don't even have a guess.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, see if I'm guessing.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_01]: Keep him guessing.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we keep asking was the question.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_01]: And this is what Rich Paul is doing.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's what I was going to ask you.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_02]: That's what I was going to ask is, you know, you mentioned earlier that LeBron doesn't do anything by accident.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_02]: And he's a seasoned vet in terms of playing, but also just the game outside the game.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_02]: Um, he's got a little swift aspect to him in the in the way of like planting little nuggets that keep the fans wondering and guessing and so, you know, you can't help but wonder how much of it is a little bit orchestrated for just decoy value and and all that.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, and two things I want to call you guys in the idea.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_01]: I think you're very intelligent by the way.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_01]: But you got to be careful because you said nuggets that might mean he's done with the difference right now.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_02]: We got a whole not a dark horse team, but an answer to your question.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I mean, and that's why I opened up the article over scuba.com with the jazzy imagery the Bronx.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_01]: Jay-Z's dreads, and cutting the dreads, and having the old school haircut with the Yankees hat, and going back to the basics.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_01]: Buckets, going back to the basics with the guys who brought you the Arthur Rises one of my favorite television shows.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_01]: It's an American show, it's about a guy who's famous, and he puts all his friends in the position to be successful in length.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of imagery between that show, the Brian James and his crew.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody has a role.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_01]: Going back to the basics and using the jazzy imagery with the hair and the concert and going back home even though Jay is from the burrow of Brooklyn and the concert was in the Bronx.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_01]: The Bronx was the epicenter for everybody across the world to see the show.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_01]: One could argue, finale fest could be the epicenter for everyone to see the show.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_04]: chat with Brandon Scoopy Robinson here on the Big Play Cleveland show presented by Fan Dual Scoop.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_04]: I do want to ask about who could really be contending with the calves in this.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_04]: You'd mention Philly.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_04]: You mentioned Miami.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_04]: In my mind, you know, my reason for really wanting the calves to do this here, Philly, you guys have made your move.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_04]: It was Jalen Brown.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_04]: Miami, you guys have made your move.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_04]: It was Yana.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_04]: I feel like LeBron is really Cleveland's move to make here, but to your point in your reporting scoop, this is a fluid situation, and Miami and Philly both seem to be contenders here.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_01]: Miami and Philly seem to be contenders, and I think the Golden State Warriors have had fun.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_01]: Our their window has passed.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_01]: You've got to compete with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
- 16:35[SPEAKER_01]: You've got to be competing with the Senate until you're spurs.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_01]: Golden State to me at this point doesn't make sense.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_01]: And Philadelphia does, but there's the JOL and me factor.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_01]: And so, you know, in my reporting, I put the portion of it where I talked about the hypothetical
- 16:57[SPEAKER_01]: our parents should go in front of them bleed while monetarily it makes sense.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_01]: Houston Covits.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_01]: All parents should go in and shingle and it's the perfect piece to pair up LeBron James alongside with him.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_01]: So if not him, you, you, you, you, you look at the Dallas Mavericks and Daniel Gaffer.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_01]: You look at Mouse Turner.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_01]: I can tell you that Mouse Turner and his role in Milwaukee, at least last season was very unhappy with what was going on.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, it was it was like night and day as far as the culture that was in that box locker room in comparison to what.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_01]: He experienced with the Indiana Pacer.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_01]: So I think the center position is something that is of interest enough concern for LeBron.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_01]: I know that he and Tyreets Maxi have a good relationship.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_01]: I know that, but Jaylin Brown and LeBron, and there was the video flowing around about Jaylin talking about Brownian, whether or not Brownie was a pro and that went viral.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_01]: But here's the thing, Jalen Brown arguably could have been the MBA's MVP this season.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, I think he was, but I'll add that he's one, two years ago, LeBron is to be in two situations, one where he's around other outfits and two, he has some level of control.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_01]: When you look at the Cleveland side, Cleveland, he'll have that control.
- 18:20[SPEAKER_01]: Cleveland is going to let him do whatever he wants.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_01]: He left twice.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_01]: Right, even though that's Donovan Mitchell and James Harden's thing, you know, that's LeBron's team.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_01]: He's not there.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_01]: His friends still come to games and sit and VIP, that's his sugar on the ice team.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_01]: At the end of the day, if he goes back, he's going to have that creative control.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_01]: There are people that I speak to that feel like Bob James Harden and LeBron James are going to clash because they both need the bowl in their hand.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_01]: While I hear that,
- 18:53[SPEAKER_01]: I know that when I was on your show last week, people clowned me for using the word rather.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_01]: So guess what I'm going to use it again.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_02]: If I had my drivers, it's an incredible phrase.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_02]: And it's underused in my opinion.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_02]: You're free to say that here.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_01]: Brothers, drivers.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_01]: So if I have my drivers, I take it back to my amy in 2010.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_01]: And people ask whether LeBron and Duane Wade would mesh in that system.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_01]: under Eric Spolska and they did.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_01]: They both adjusted their games accordingly.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_01]: Honestly, when I look at the calves and I look at James Hardin's situation, I feel like James Hardin taking less money to stay.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_01]: But also, teaming up with LeBron James would be everything Chris Paul should have been.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_01]: it's the calves when a championship or at least make it to the finals because that's the one thing that James Harden is missing in his mantle, a championship.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_02]: Scoop have you heard anything, you know, speaking of James Harden and Donovan Mitchell and this Cleveland team.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_02]: Have you heard anything about Donovan's thoughts on the potential for playing alongside LeBron?
- 20:07[SPEAKER_02]: You know, he just signs this huge massive max for your extension and he's love in life.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_02]: And I wonder if some of those were also subliminal when he posted on Instagram, I can't believe this is my life.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_02]: you know, how about his thoughts?
- 20:23[SPEAKER_02]: Has any of that leaked out a little bit?
- 20:26[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'll tell you this.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_01]: The answer to your question is yes, but more specifically, I can tell you that even during my time in and out of Cleveland, it games where I would see you.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_01]: I was having side conversations with people of note who have shared with me that this is a conversation that Donovan James and even LeBron have had since James Harden was traded to the Cleveland
- 20:52[SPEAKER_01]: Those guys would like to play together, but it has to make sense.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_01]: And you also have to take it to the account of this.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_01]: Rich Paul's views are not always James Harden's views.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_01]: Excuse me, Rich Paul's views, you're gonna have to edit that.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_01]: Rich Paul's views are not always LeBron James's views.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_01]: And I'll add this.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_01]: I started my article at scooby.com, talking about the imagery of Yaki Stadium in Jay-Z.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_01]: I am a huge rap fan, I'm a huge Jay-Z fan.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_01]: And when I look at Rich Paul and I look at LeBron James, I think of the relationship of the manager and the talent.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_01]: Jay-Z had a manager for years named Damon Dash.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_01]: Damon Dash played the bad cop while Jay-Z played the good cop.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_01]: Rich Paul.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_01]: and the Brown James' relationship mirrors just that.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_01]: I could tell you specifically about LeBron and James Harder.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_01]: The way it was told to me over the weekend was, and this is a family show, LeBron and James F. with each other.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_01]: They called, that's what somebody of note on the James Harden side of things shared with me.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_01]: They said, they're called, there's no issue.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_01]: The rich Paul issue is father.
- 22:10[SPEAKER_01]: but the only concern is this and this is on the heart inside.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_01]: Tyreeth Maxi and LeBron are also cool, but they also represent a beverage poll.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_01]: So at the end of the day, the Brian has to make a choice about what he wants to do, whether the homecoming of sorts is a thing or what.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_01]: I can also share with you on the Brandon Weam side.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_01]: David Griffin, I would told, was at the Cavaliers facility about three to four weeks ago and had a meeting with the calves.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_01]: The calves are interested and potentially bring him back.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_01]: But so what the Philadelphia 76ers, my guess is over and Philadelphia, as you know, is the president's basketball operations.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_01]: And there's this tug of war in the front office.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_01]: people leaving Cleveland to go to Philly and, you know, and there are people in waiting and that catch front office for LeBron and what's going to happen next, like seriously, and what LeBron does is could be contingent upon who goes where.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_01]: And like I said, whether Brendan Weans becomes the general manager of the Cleveland Cavaliers at large.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_01]: So there's a lot of moving pieces there,
- 23:29[SPEAKER_01]: James Hardin and LeBron.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_01]: I'm told that Jonathan Mitchell would welcome the notion of LeBron returning home and that James Hardin would respect it just the same.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_02]: Scoop, it is always a pleasure.

- 24:37[SPEAKER_02]: Welcome back to the Big Play Cleveland Show.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_02]: We are bringing the heat with the Jensen Lewis and Shoot, the Guardians are bringing the heat too.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_02]: They're on a four game winning streak headed into this all-star break after sweeping a Marlins team that had just won six straight.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_02]: Jensen, how much momentum can this team carry into the second half?
- 24:55[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, what what a finish with a flourish to say the least the first team to sweep the Marlins at home this year too and and you talked about how Miami had been not only what the hottest teams in baseball, but also thinks since June first to some of the highest wind totals if you will amongst those teams to finish out the first half of the season look make no mistake Brian Rocchio and chased a lot or deserve to take a bow just a two man wrecking crew.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_03]: at least in this last week to finish the first half, but it feels like they've really settled into their spots in the lineup, and that's a great home, and as you alluded to, momentum through the end of the finish line of this first half, you got Jose Ramirez on the horizon here, so if you would have said it at the beginning of the year,
- 25:39[SPEAKER_03]: Hey, you'll be tied for first place, and oh, by the way, you've missed Jose Ramirez for several weeks to finish the first half of the season.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_03]: I would say you would take that and then so, so great job, especially on a very difficult road trip for sure.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_04]: Jensen, it feels like in the absence of Jose and Martinez chased a lot or was able to come back and find some of that power Brian broke you.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_04]: I feel like deserves a lot of credit as well.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_04]: What have you seen from these two young hitters because it really feels like they've
- 26:09[SPEAKER_04]: while all of the rest of these injuries work themselves out.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_03]: Well said, Nick, and I think damage is the operative word.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, they both have done it individually, collectively.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_03]: And if you kind of look overall at their seasons to date, I think it kind of has manifested itself from all the work that they've put in.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_03]: You know, in the last couple of years, I mean, heck, Lakewood Truck Park, Nick, we sat there in some commercial breaks, and we looked at each other when Rogue kind of helped carry this team into the postseason where like,
- 26:37[SPEAKER_03]: you know what feels like it's starting to come together here and he's he's really had the deal with some adversity through the last couple of seasons to get himself to this point but it goes back to our refrain when Jose went out we asked the question who who was going to step up it would probably need to be a collection of players and and absolutely what what not only Chase has done but Brian deserves as much credit as well.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_02]: How about Joey Kentolo he struck out nine got out of a basis loaded jam early do you think that that was a breakout performance for him?
- 27:07[SPEAKER_03]: He's been the best starter gathered the last two weeks for for this guardians club and if that is a moment that he can file away and kind of harken back to when that situation presents itself inevitably if not this year down the road where.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_03]: This is still an offense in my aim.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_03]: It's real pesky, great contact oriented group.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_03]: They can do damage with pitches elevated in the zone and to slow the game down the way that he did and to be able to execute in those spots.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_03]: Really commend him for the effort.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_03]: That's a sign of a guy that's really starting to grow and when you're faced with those situations.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_03]: most times young players will let the game speed up on him.
- 27:45[SPEAKER_03]: It did not feel that that was the case.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_03]: Just great pitch execution, understanding how the sequence was going to go and hats off to him.
- 27:53[SPEAKER_03]: A really pivotal moment in that outing.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_04]: Jensen, I'm also kind of hoping here.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_04]: And I don't know that this is the case that maybe the bullpen found something there against the marlins.
- 28:03[SPEAKER_04]: Should we feel better about the bullpen heading into the second half of the season than how we did a couple of weeks ago?
- 28:10[SPEAKER_03]: I would be extremely bullish on a hundred gattest make no mistake about it.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, that that's as good of a two weeks as we've seen from him, not only I think in his guardians tenure, but maybe in in big league baseball in that time period.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_03]: And of course, you know, Kate is cade just rinse and repeat the guys feels like he's automatic when he gets in there regardless, if you even run or two gets on base.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_03]: I agree that that you might have found some symmetry.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, Sean Armstrong.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_03]: uh... having a nice solid back to back finish there was great uh... looking at what holderman has kind of meant to even get the save there on saturday so the guys we we know that this has been a unit that for this organization the last ten fifteen years they're pretty damn good at putting the puzzle pieces together and that was the focus right that we can kind of sat in talk early in the year like
- 28:59[SPEAKER_03]: really the moves were the bullpen and and they've kind of found their way here, uh, some veterans, the back of their baseball card is starting to come through.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_03]: And some of your younger guys are getting some valuable opportunities and experience that they're going to have to rely on, especially in the pen and chase months there in August and September.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_02]: Jensen, do you feel like Steven Kwon is getting his groove back?
- 29:20[SPEAKER_02]: It was really good to see the second O'ass game headed into this all-star break.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_02]: You know, he drove in a couple of runs.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_02]: He was flashing that gold glove defense.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_03]: It's one thing, Gab, that we've talked for several weeks if not the entirety of the season where it's felt like quanny has been just the consummate professional, not taking the offensive struggles into the field.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_03]: And remember, this is all predicated on.
- 29:44[SPEAKER_03]: you know, a position change too.
- 29:46[SPEAKER_03]: They wanted to put them into center field.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_03]: We know he's been gold glove caliber for for many years now in in left field and I want to go back to I think June 23rd and just looking at his finish to the season, at least in the first half.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_03]: That's 18 games guys now where it's a 309 batting average.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_03]: It's an OPS that's back over 800 and it's very
- 30:08[SPEAKER_03]: much what we have seen in the early career 10 year of Stephen Kwan.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_03]: So I think that to answer a question, Gavin, is probably the most encouraging part for me is whatever they found and whatever he did mentally.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_03]: Remember, this is still on the player too to just kind of hold the line and continue to work and get back into your routine that's made you successful in the past.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_03]: The results are starting to show and another a big reason why this club is on that
- 30:36[SPEAKER_04]: It's crazy to say this, and I'll be trade deadline just a couple weeks away.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, August 3rd is going to be here before we know it.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_04]: You mentioned Stephen Quann there.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_04]: Obviously there are some others.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_04]: This American League though, there's no real good teams.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_04]: So maybe there's a bunch of teams thinking that they could be buyers.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_04]: Jensen, what's your gut telling you that the guardians are going to do is we get closer and closer to that August 3rd deadline.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and Nick to be fair, if you look at where we are in the league overall, there's I want to say it's 23 teams that are within four games of a playoff spot and so the the easy answer is no one knows what's going to happen and because.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_03]: three weeks from today is the deadline and so much can happen in between there and there are way too many teams that are still mathematically not only alive, but they're like a sweeper to away from being into a playoff spot.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_03]: So yes, you're going to hear the chatter ramp up about some big names that could be available.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_03]: But
- 31:41[SPEAKER_03]: To be fair, I mean, let's take the division.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, Detroit has started to look like the team that they envision they would be at the beginning of the year.
- 31:49[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, they're eight games under 500, but the three and a half out of a playoffs spot.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_03]: And good conscience, they're not trading terrible.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_03]: If that's the case three weeks from today.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_03]: If you're looking at, you know, teams that are not only in it for top-end starting pitching, but middle of the order bets, I think the safe thing is that if I look at Seattle,
- 32:07[SPEAKER_03]: Trader Jerry DiPoto is going to make a deal.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_03]: I think we can put that out there.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_03]: AJ Preller has never met a deal that he wouldn't consider twice, so if you're looking at the usual suspects, I think Seattle and San Diego,
- 32:26[SPEAKER_03]: Once Jose is back, what do they feel the lineup dynamic is?
- 32:29[SPEAKER_03]: Cause let's face it.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_03]: They need an experience bat.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_03]: They need it in a perfect world.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_03]: They would need a nice right handed middle of the order bat.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if that's going to be available.
- 32:37[SPEAKER_03]: And even Nick, if it is, the acquisition cost is going to be so exponentially high because of all those teams.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_03]: that are in it.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_03]: So let's let's put a pin in it and let's talk in two weeks to kind of see if there's clarity on that because I think to a man every GM worth this salt that is within that four game range of a playoff spot is not even thinking about selling they're thinking about where are we what's the acquisitions that we need internally and what can we do in these kind of two to three
- 33:15[SPEAKER_02]: What's the biggest key for this team to stay in the playoff race after this all start break?
- 33:20[SPEAKER_02]: What do you think Steven votes message to this team is?
- 33:23[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, gap to be fair.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's just continue to be us, right?
- 33:26[SPEAKER_03]: Just play guards ball.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_03]: And I know it's easy to say, you know, in that respect.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_03]: But I mean, let's face it, guys.
- 33:34[SPEAKER_03]: This has been a team that's still by the numbers is one of the worst offensive statistically.
- 33:39[SPEAKER_03]: in the league and they are still doing what they're doing.
- 33:43[SPEAKER_03]: They find ways to win close games.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_03]: They have the pitching top to bottom and when healthy, this has been an incredibly consistent staff.
- 33:52[SPEAKER_03]: I would say looking just schedule-wise at what they have to start the second half.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you are right in it, man.
- 33:59[SPEAKER_03]: The pirates for three, they're fighting for their playoff lives.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_03]: The twins the same way with the four-game set at home.
- 34:06[SPEAKER_03]: And then you got to go on the road and face the best team in the American league in the first half in Tampa Bay, always been a tough place for this guardians team to win.
- 34:14[SPEAKER_03]: And then let's kind of see where we are.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_03]: You have the battle for the Ohio cup against the reds down a great American and then your home, at least right now the Diamondbacks are still in it.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_03]: Let's see where they are then.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_03]: Man, this is all you ask for is a player though is meaningful games every day you come to the park.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_03]: There's something on the line.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_03]: That will be the case when they take the field on Friday.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_04]: Johnson, what was your reaction to this Guardian's 2026 draft class?
- 34:39[SPEAKER_04]: Obviously a lot of players selected.
- 34:42[SPEAKER_04]: Well, it felt like kind of what we've come to expect from this organization, though, right?
- 34:47[SPEAKER_03]: Well, yeah, I would agree wholeheartedly, and they're starting to draft some dudes, man.
- 34:52[SPEAKER_03]: And I think that's the the most encouraging part for me is you're getting
- 34:56[SPEAKER_03]: physical college guys that, you know, can absolutely step in in a couple of years and and be real forces.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_03]: I'll go off Lee and Peterson who I've seen in person from my time doing ESPN college baseball the last couple of years.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_03]: This guy is front of the rotation stuff.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_03]: It's an upper 90s to triple digits fastball.
- 35:16[SPEAKER_03]: It's wipe out off speed.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_03]: And a guy that is the Friday night starter in, you know, many of the SEC rotations, you know, had it not been for his rotation mate there.
- 35:26[SPEAKER_03]: But I think honestly, they, they really crushed it again.
- 35:30[SPEAKER_03]: Last year, Nick was really good.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_03]: They got a great haul of position players, Schubert the kid who is just tearing the cover off the ball right now covered him.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_03]: You know, when, when he was at Oklahoma State and, you know, they really are now starting to get some guys that at the upper levels.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_03]: not only have had the experience at the top end of college programs, but it feels like they've adapted to probe all quite quickly.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_03]: Again, this job of doing the draft and really knocking it out of the park in the first four to five rounds A plus all the way around for me of the hall that they got.
- 36:02[SPEAKER_03]: Jensen we got to ask before we wrap up here all start week upon us will you be watching the home run derby and are you pulling for anybody yeah you got I'm so thankful that we got rid of those shot clock you know and and we're going to be able to sit back and be in awe of where some of these balls land perfect weather going into tonight.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_03]: I do have a small spot here for for Kyle Schwarber.
- 36:23[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you can't draw it up any better, you know, the hometown feel the guy wins the all star game for the national league and the swing off last year.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_03]: It feels like he's built for the moment.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_03]: I am excited to see what Jack Kegleon is going to do as far as, you know, some eggs at Velo and some some.
- 36:39[SPEAKER_03]: big time bombs.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_03]: I think Murakami is going to be pretty good.
- 36:42[SPEAKER_03]: Jordan Walker, I think he's got a chance to hit the longest home or the night.
- 36:45[SPEAKER_03]: So what a star power, a group of guys that we have that have wanted to do it, that are going to do it and just can't wait to see where some of these balls end up.
- 36:56[SPEAKER_02]: Awesome.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_02]: Jensen Lewis, thanks so much for bringing the heat with us.
- 36:59[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to take a quick break.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_02]: We'll be back with more big play Cleveland right after this.
- 37:03[SPEAKER_02]: Welcome back to the
- 37:10[SPEAKER_02]: Woo, never gets all done.
- 37:12[SPEAKER_00]: You don't want that bark as so strong today.
- 37:14[SPEAKER_00]: Traini campus can really start pretty soon.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_00]: We got training camp.
- 37:17[SPEAKER_00]: I'm all excited about that.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_02]: Around the corner, we got to do a little bit of a preview here, right?
- 37:21[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, fresh coaching staff, we got a shifted roster.
- 37:26[SPEAKER_02]: There is some significant uncertainty under center, as we, as we know, but, you know, which players do you think are facing the most pressure right now?
- 37:36[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I think it's going to be pretty much that deepens a back feel when you look at it, because Miles Garrett, obviously, that's a big, big miss.
- 37:44[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, when you talk about a guy that's, they have to triple and double team pretty much on every single play, pay attention to him, arrange this, your whole offense around him because he's a guy that's going to get to the quarterback and possibly you don't want your quarterback.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_00]: injured so i and with him being gone and and share we got a guy that's very capable of commenting here playing but not at the level of miles Garrett i think anything we get out of him uh it's it's it's gonna be great but when you look at it i think on that defense especially
- 38:21[SPEAKER_00]: out the two cornerbacks, talking about Denzel Ward and Campbell.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_00]: Denzel obviously we know is a shutdown corner all pro corner.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_00]: Campbell has had some issues as far as us staying healthy.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's one of the reasons why.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_00]: uh... they got rid of him but i don't think he's crying he's probably crying all the way to the bank because when you look at i think the kids sound like a seventy six million and i say seventy six million dollar contract uh... that's where frank and i would just sit down and we laugh when we talk about each other's they got out of how we played to early brakes and we played to early top dog how do we miss that money you know what we would be worth today but that's another story for another day
- 39:03[SPEAKER_00]: But those corners are going to have to cover a little bit longer.
- 39:07[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to have to really, really concentrate at their jams or the Y receivers because, again, mouse Garrett is gone that escape goat
- 39:20[SPEAKER_00]: they've had because they haven't had to worry about the quarterback having a lot of time with the full ball.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_00]: So I want to say you to answer your question Gab was got to be that defense especially the defensive secondary in those two corners.
- 39:32[SPEAKER_04]: Top Dog this time of year obviously there's not much going on.
- 39:36[SPEAKER_04]: We've got a couple weeks even till training camp gets going.
- 39:40[SPEAKER_04]: The Browns are posting some videos to Sean Watson's got guys down in Florida getting some work in.
- 39:45[SPEAKER_04]: I saw Shador is in Vegas throwing the football
- 39:51[SPEAKER_04]: What did you do this time leading up into training camp when you had a little couple of weeks before the season?
- 39:58[SPEAKER_04]: What were those times like for you?
- 40:00[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's funny you mentioned that because I think today they're a little bit more...
- 40:06[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to say sophisticated, but I was watching, I was trying to think of who the...
- 40:12[SPEAKER_00]: guys saw oh I know it was it was a Pittsburgh Steelers where they took all the guys out and all the guys are riding on the horseback and they got their hats on and they're spurs and and and that thing but we didn't do anything like that I pretty much had my own regent in my own style of things I would do and that would include because again I was
- 40:42[SPEAKER_00]: I used to love to run like five, six miles a day.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_00]: Then I would do all my jillities because obviously playing corner, you've got to stay quick, you've got to stay sharp, you've got to be able to change directions at all times.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_00]: So that's pretty much what I did.
- 40:58[SPEAKER_00]: But I like it.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_00]: What I'm seeing from a lot of the guys today, I like it when you have the quarterbacks.
- 41:06[SPEAKER_00]: get together with what they call like maybe a quarterback camp where they bring in all the why receivers and all the guys that they're going to have to have that special connection with doing the course of the season.
- 41:18[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm not hating on them.
- 41:20[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's a good thing of what they're doing and I think it's great that should do or bring all the guys up and get all the guys to get all the guys together.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_04]: Plus there's a free trip for those guys anyway because the quarterback makes so much god damn money He's banned he's foot in the bill All those I think that's a lot of those dudes ended up down south beach with the shawng in those throws in for the free trip out There are no social media videos back in the day for you though because Watson has documented kind of every single throw that he's made down there every single rep on the bench press that he's had down there They've
- 41:56[SPEAKER_00]: documented all that nobody's got video of you running around in Alabama though do that and you know I'm happy because we didn't want all that video flat around we was playing and I guarantee some of the guys They like it.
- 42:08[SPEAKER_00]: They don't like it, but but when I was talking about the combo hands talk about steel It was Aaron Rodgers who I think you guys correct me if I'm wrong when I think he signed his one-year deal Whatever it is with the Pittsburgh still so
- 42:22[SPEAKER_00]: He'll be back and we'll have to deal with him, but I'm not worried about that.
- 42:28[SPEAKER_02]: real quick on quarterbacks.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_02]: What did you think about the list that came out and the top 10 where you surprised at uh... let's let's even do the top five.
- 42:36[SPEAKER_04]: We got the top 10 here.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_04]: We got Josh Allen number one.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_04]: This is as ranked by coaches executives and scouts.
- 42:42[SPEAKER_04]: They put this out.
- 42:43[SPEAKER_04]: They pull everybody.
- 42:45[SPEAKER_04]: Josh Allen comes back is number one Patrick Mahold number two.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_04]: Matt Stafford number three.
- 42:51[SPEAKER_04]: Joe Burrow five are four Lamar Jackson five.
- 42:54[SPEAKER_00]: Well, when you know, I'm glad you guys mentioned that because I did take a look at that and I couldn't believe it.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_00]: First of all, I like you guys know a big Josh Allen fan.
- 43:04[SPEAKER_00]: I like the kid.
- 43:05[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I really do, but to put him ahead of my homes, I think that's absolutely cool.
- 43:10[SPEAKER_00]: crazy because when you look at when you look at my homes obviously there's some things that have happened he's been injured I haven't had the players that normally had in the past and that's been an issue but I still think he is the top quarterback.
- 43:26[SPEAKER_00]: I think you where I have a problem you want to flip flop the two.
- 43:30[SPEAKER_00]: I think at two and three it was either Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_00]: If you look at that rating, I think they have Lamar Jackson this number five in that whole scenario.
- 43:43[SPEAKER_00]: And how in the hell are you going to put Stafford and Joe Burrell a head of Lamar Jackson that is crazy the only person that I can see maybe Only person that I can quarterback that I can see going ahead of Lamar is Josh Allen and again, I wouldn't have had a problem if you to put Lamar ahead of Josh and then Josh or vice versa.
- 44:05[SPEAKER_00]: But you know these guys may when they come up with these list of sometimes I'm like what?
- 44:10[SPEAKER_02]: the hell are they talking about when they put these things together, but I'm curious the criteria like is it just from a decision making athlete's standpoint or is it and then does it take into account the entire team and their the pieces that around them and what they're dealing with you know what I mean maybe there's that bias that sinks in
- 44:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm like you.
- 44:32[SPEAKER_00]: I'm wondering what are the criteria to do because when you look at it in Joe Burrow, I mean you're talking about a guy and I mean Joe Burrow's a hell of a quarterback.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I'm not saying he's not.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I like Joe Burrow and I think he's right up there with the top quarterbacks.
- 44:46[SPEAKER_00]: but you also you talked about a guy that's really been her injury prone pretty much throughout his career.
- 44:55[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't think we should necessarily hold that against him, but I just don't think he's better than Lamar Jackson.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, the only person like I told you, I'm homes and Josh Allen, the only two quarterbacks that I think
- 45:08[SPEAKER_00]: we could put ahead of the Marjacks and I mean, that's just a way I see the thing.
- 45:14[SPEAKER_00]: And when you look at it, I'm going to throw another wrinkle in here.
- 45:16[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm curious to know what you guys are going to say about this date.
- 45:21[SPEAKER_00]: Baker Mayfield was not in the top 10 on the top 10 not in the top did I think he was somewhere around 15 or maybe somewhere around there but not in the top 10 and I guarantee we all know Baker Baker's having a damn fit because you know he's fighting going back and forth with the team trying to get a new contract and he would have probably wanted to show up somewhere.
- 45:41[SPEAKER_00]: in that list, but it was very interesting and you're right, Gap.
- 45:45[SPEAKER_00]: I would also love to know, love to know the criteria, and the things that how they came about naming these guys.
- 45:54[SPEAKER_04]: It's not necessarily criteria, but you know what I noticed when I look at this, Josh Allen won.
- 46:00[SPEAKER_03]: I'm Buffalo.
- 46:01[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, we know they're going to be good.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_04]: Pat some homes to on the chiefs.
- 46:04[SPEAKER_04]: We know they're going to be good.
- 46:05[SPEAKER_04]: Stafford in the Rams, Burrow in the Bengals, Lamar in the Ravens.
- 46:09[SPEAKER_04]: all these teams are going to be really good is it feel like that's kind of the missing piece on the browns now right top dog because we've got a lot of young talent you're talking about this defense kind of in life after Miles Garrett and we're not 100% sure on how that's going to look but it feels like all the best teams happen to have the best quarterback.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_00]: Well but if you say that if you say that's the way they're picking tell me how can
- 46:36[SPEAKER_00]: Joe Burrell, go ahead of Lamar Jack because the Cincinnati Bengals, I mean, they're like us.
- 46:43[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they haven't been winning, but the Baltimore Revers has been right there in a tough division.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_00]: They've been strong and they've been winning football games, but I don't know how they how they do it, how they come about the whole thing, but it's going to be interesting to see what happens with those top guys on that list.
- 47:03[SPEAKER_02]: Who is the later five?
- 47:06[SPEAKER_04]: to round out the ten.
- 47:08[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 47:08[SPEAKER_04]: So we've got Lamar is five.
- 47:11[SPEAKER_04]: Jack Prescott is six.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_04]: Justin Herbert is seven.
- 47:15[SPEAKER_04]: Drake May is eight.
- 47:17[SPEAKER_04]: Jared Gough is nine and Caleb Williams is ten.
- 47:20[SPEAKER_04]: So so you're looking at pretty much all playoff teams there too.
- 47:24[SPEAKER_00]: Well what about the yields?
- 47:25[SPEAKER_04]: That was Jalen Hurts.
- 47:27[SPEAKER_02]: I was listening for Jalen Hurts.
- 47:30[SPEAKER_02]: I was surprised he didn't
- 47:34[SPEAKER_00]: with Jalen, you know, when you think about it, he's, he's one of those quarterbacks that get disrespected.
- 47:39[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like I'm glad someone sent it.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_00]: He gets disrespected a lot in this league.
- 47:46[SPEAKER_00]: So I think he'll kind of just take it and just move on and continue to do it.
- 47:51[SPEAKER_02]: He doesn't seem like the type who would care.
- 47:52[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 47:53[SPEAKER_02]: Baker feels like a type that would care.
- 47:54[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, Baker, you better believe.
- 47:56[SPEAKER_04]: Hey, speaking of Baker.
- 47:58[SPEAKER_04]: I got to ask this top dog because we've got you in here.
- 48:01[SPEAKER_04]: You mentioned the fact he's going back and forth with the team on this contract.
- 48:05[SPEAKER_04]: We're talking about the fact that, okay, top 10 quarterback list, we know the Browns aren't going to be on there because we probably don't have a quarterback.
- 48:13[SPEAKER_04]: Is there any chance you take Baker back and free agency next year?
- 48:16[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, no, no, no, no, no and Baker's playing well right now.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Baker's playing extremely well, you know, everybody's talking about Shedur and how they've given Shedur a hard time by
- 48:29[SPEAKER_00]: all the baggage and everything that he brings to a team, which I think is just bullshit.
- 48:35[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I really do.
- 48:37[SPEAKER_00]: I like the kid and I think the kid is going to show us that he can play.
- 48:41[SPEAKER_00]: But Baker may feel, bring Baker may feel back.
- 48:46[SPEAKER_00]: I just have to laugh at that one thing about it, you know when I started to say we wish him well, wherever he is, we don't want it back.
- 48:55[SPEAKER_00]: But I think Baker's playing well right now.
- 49:00[SPEAKER_00]: He really is and he's playing well for his team, and I think he's going to do well.
- 49:05[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, hand for let's bring it back to the Browns here.
- 49:07[SPEAKER_02]: We're preparing for training camp.
- 49:08[SPEAKER_02]: It is Todd Munkins in overall camp here with the team, you know, what kind of what kind of vibe does he need to set?
- 49:17[SPEAKER_02]: And how important is it for him to have this positive impact early as he looks to reshape a culture here?
- 49:23[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I think the good thing about it, he's already started.
- 49:27[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's started in the camps that we've had with all the guys.
- 49:33[SPEAKER_00]: And, Gab, you and I talked about this a little bit.
- 49:38[SPEAKER_00]: What he really has done on this football team, he's letting the guys know that he is the head coach.
- 49:44[SPEAKER_00]: He's letting the guys know that they're not going to get away with anything but hard work.
- 49:50[SPEAKER_00]: and that's what he's going to hold all the guys accountable.
- 49:53[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't care who you are, what your name is, how much money you're making, when you are drafted, everybody is going to have to play, everybody's going to have to put out, everybody's going to have to do what they can to make this team a winner.
- 50:09[SPEAKER_00]: And that's what I like about, that's what I like about Todd.
- 50:12[SPEAKER_00]: He is a coach that the players will respect, and not saying that they're getting with the old regime.
- 50:20[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not saying they didn't respect Stephansky, but Todd is coming out of the gate letting them know, because I heard from some of the guys with some of the chatter,
- 50:30[SPEAKER_00]: that what they're saying about this guy.
- 50:32[SPEAKER_00]: And I already knew that because I have a little history with Todd.
- 50:37[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, he coasted at the University of Southern Mississippi.
- 50:40[SPEAKER_00]: He also, obviously, we know a long time the offense coordinated with the Baltimore Ravens, and Todd is a hell of a coach.
- 50:48[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm happy we have him.
- 50:49[SPEAKER_00]: And again, he's going to demand nothing but the best from these players.
- 50:55[SPEAKER_04]: You know, Taftog, I was out there for you said, OTAs, mini camp, all that stuff and the vibe that I got, like, talking to the players and those controlled press conferences after practice, like it felt like a team that was immediately bought in.
- 51:09[SPEAKER_04]: Like, they love what this guy is preaching.
- 51:11[SPEAKER_04]: I thought it was fascinating that the Sean Watson said, you know, he feels like you get the Tom Brady treatment.
- 51:17[SPEAKER_04]: In this offense where you put a lot on the quarterback, but the players like that because they want that autonomy Jerry Judy said the same thing He's like Todd's a guy that lets you get to your best plays and wants us to do well as a offense It feels like everybody's so bought in how do you stay bought into a coach though?
- 51:35[SPEAKER_04]: You know because it feels like like off-rip the messaging hit But how does he keep those guys bought in throughout like we know it's gonna be a long season We're gonna be doing this through November
- 51:45[SPEAKER_04]: December and January, how does he keep everybody bought him now?
- 51:49[SPEAKER_00]: Let's see one thing about players.
- 51:50[SPEAKER_00]: What players will do?
- 51:54[SPEAKER_00]: They will push a coach to the limit.
- 51:56[SPEAKER_00]: They'll try to get away with whatever they can get away with.
- 52:00[SPEAKER_00]: I know because I was one of those guys.
- 52:03[SPEAKER_00]: I never forget Marty Shottenheimer.
- 52:06[SPEAKER_00]: We were getting ready to have a meeting and it was in training camp.
- 52:09[SPEAKER_00]: And you guys have heard the story before.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_00]: But he came in to start the meeting and this was the whole team was there.
- 52:16[SPEAKER_00]: And he said, everybody out except Hamford Dixon.
- 52:19[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, holy shit.
- 52:22[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I knew then right away I was in trouble.
- 52:24[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to get into what we talked about during the meeting, but I could tell you it wasn't very pleasant for me.
- 52:30[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't pleasant at all.
- 52:32[SPEAKER_00]: Right then and there I knew that I couldn't get away with nothing.
- 52:36[SPEAKER_00]: with Marty Shottenham or players like that, players like a coach that's going to when a coach show you that he's got a lot of confidence in you when he shows you that he believes in you and as a player,
- 52:53[SPEAKER_00]: when you have a coach that believe in you that show you that he's got confidence and make sure work harder and make sure work to, uh, uh, to produce and, uh, Todd is one of those type of guys.
- 53:05[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's so funny because, um, I'm laughing every time he, uh, tries to talk because he's got this raspy voice.
- 53:13[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you, everybody thinks that he's horses.
- 53:15[SPEAKER_00]: Some of that's just the way his voice is.
- 53:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 53:18[SPEAKER_00]: But he's, he's, he's such a, uh, a likable guy but again, don't cross him.
- 53:23[SPEAKER_04]: He loves it.
- 53:24[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
- 53:24[SPEAKER_04]: You can tell he loves it.
- 53:25[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
- 53:26[SPEAKER_04]: Whereas like he's out there with each position group, whereas, you know, not to throw shots it's defensive because that's water under the bridge.
- 53:32[SPEAKER_04]: But he ran in a very different way.
- 53:35[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
- 53:35[SPEAKER_04]: And you can just tell like by watching Todd, like this is a guy that lives breeds each sleep football.
- 53:41[SPEAKER_04]: Like he just loves it.
- 53:42[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's the face he was what we call a player's coach, but you know, and I'll leave it at that.
- 53:49[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm still trying to figure out how in the hell
- 53:54[SPEAKER_00]: can you do what you did here in Cleveland and you get hired right away by their land of Falcons and again you know maybe they see something we don't see but again we still wish the fast-skilled well coached and
- 54:09[SPEAKER_00]: He was the same court as you.
- 54:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, very, no, what I say that, you know, I just, but we, we wish it was.
- 54:15[SPEAKER_02]: We need, like, a little button on the control board.
- 54:17[SPEAKER_02]: Just to have a hand for it, you said.
- 54:18[SPEAKER_01]: We wish it was a little button on the control board.
- 54:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's what I, that's what I was saying.
- 54:22[SPEAKER_00]: You know, when I started to talk about, uh, Dylan, you know, I said, you know, we, we, we, because, because even with the quarterback position, we got you doing, we got Watson and then we got, uh, Tyler.
- 54:34[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I, I mean, I,
- 54:34[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, there's really no room.
- 54:36[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I know we're not going to keep four quarterbacks on the Russ.
- 54:39[SPEAKER_00]: So you tell me, are we going to keep four?
- 54:41[SPEAKER_00]: No way.
- 54:42[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I'm thinking.
- 54:42[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, there's no way we're going to keep four quarterbacks.
- 54:45[SPEAKER_04]: And you can't untail in green because I heard that there's a team in the FC North that was going to draft them if the Browns didn't draft them with what I heard.
- 54:54[SPEAKER_00]: I'm telling you that kid, you watch to see what I tell.
- 54:58[SPEAKER_00]: And especially with the way quarterbacks are going today, I mean, they all, you know,
- 55:01[SPEAKER_00]: they get hurt so easily so you need all these guys and what we have to do with Taylor we have to bring him along get him better get him better but I'm excited about this football team guys again I'm really really excited I think the offense is going to have to carry the defense a little bit this year with miles being gone but we have the weapons to do that right now we have
- 55:23[SPEAKER_00]: We, our offensive line is revamped.
- 55:26[SPEAKER_00]: Our, we got the running backs.
- 55:28[SPEAKER_00]: We got the wire receivers.
- 55:29[SPEAKER_00]: We have the weapons on the outside.
- 55:31[SPEAKER_00]: And again, we just need should doer to produce.
- 55:34[SPEAKER_00]: We need should doer to come be ready to play.
- 55:37[SPEAKER_00]: And defensively, I think, with the new defensive coordinator, it's going to be interesting to see what happens on that side of the ball.
- 55:44[SPEAKER_00]: But my understanding is we're going to keep the same scheme.
- 55:47[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to keep everything pretty much in tag.
- 55:50[SPEAKER_00]: We're not going to change anything.
- 55:53[SPEAKER_02]: you mentioned the old line in the revamp there how important is their performance I guess how vital is their performance to the overall ceiling of this team especially now that we get in a camp dude because I couldn't release those many camp practices where they're not in pads you can't really learn anything about the offense of one right it's it's it's really vital because again another old saying you've heard me say time and time again
- 56:18[SPEAKER_00]: the game of football is control only offensive and defensive line of scrimmage.
- 56:22[SPEAKER_00]: That's where everything starts right in the trenches as we would say.
- 56:30[SPEAKER_00]: Our offensive line got to be able to protect the quarterback because we have to be able to give
- 56:36[SPEAKER_00]: Whoever the quarterback is, whether this should do or whether it's Watson, whoever that guy is, we have to be able to give them time to throw the football.
- 56:45[SPEAKER_00]: And again, we have to establish a running game, and that all starts again talking about up front with the offensive line.
- 56:51[SPEAKER_00]: So it's going to be interesting to see what happens there.
- 56:54[SPEAKER_00]: A little bit sad.
- 56:56[SPEAKER_00]: We lost Joe Patonio, but that's okay.
- 56:59[SPEAKER_00]: Joe has played a long time in this league, and he's been very, very productive.
- 57:03[SPEAKER_00]: And I understand, hopefully, he sticks around a little bit, but that offensive line's very important.
- 57:11[SPEAKER_04]: You know, you mentioned Shador a lot today.
- 57:14[SPEAKER_04]: I like him.
- 57:14[SPEAKER_04]: I know you do.
- 57:15[SPEAKER_04]: I know you do.
- 57:16[SPEAKER_04]: Are you going to be, are you going to be okay if they name Watts and the starter here?
- 57:20[SPEAKER_04]: Because I know you really want to see Shador.
- 57:22[SPEAKER_04]: And I think Brown's fans are with you top dog.
- 57:24[SPEAKER_04]: These fans want to see Shador because we know what they're showing it.
- 57:28[SPEAKER_00]: Nick, you know me.
- 57:29[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a Shador fan.
- 57:31[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see Shador play.
- 57:33[SPEAKER_00]: But first and foremost, I'm a Cleveland Brown's fan.
- 57:36[SPEAKER_00]: So whoever we end up starting at quarterback,
- 57:40[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to be all for I'm going to be behind them 100% but I just think we have a our ceiling is higher with should doer because he's a young kid and we need to know whether or not he could play or not because we didn't get all those draft picks that we have sitting in our pocket for nothing because coming out in this draft I think there's some very interesting
- 58:04[SPEAKER_00]: or the backs that's going to be in this upcoming draft.
- 58:07[SPEAKER_00]: So if should do or can't do it then we got to go out and get one of these guys but wouldn't it be a blessing if should do or comes out and balls out and play extremely well then we could take those picks and we could really enhance this football team.
- 58:23[SPEAKER_02]: Speaking of bowling out, I know you've been keeping up with the guardians and how hot they've been like But we also got the all-star week ahead of us.
- 58:30[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, we want to know.
- 58:31[SPEAKER_02]: Do you watch the home run Derby?
- 58:33[SPEAKER_02]: You know what are you not as into that?
- 58:35[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not really into it.
- 58:37[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but I probably will watch it But talking about those guard and we want a four-game win-as-street.
- 58:43[SPEAKER_02]: I kind of you know the top dog He keeps up with baseball just as much as both.
- 58:47[SPEAKER_00]: I can hate to see
- 58:50[SPEAKER_00]: them kind of have this break right now because we're uh we've been so hot what about the water oh yeah this kid right now he's uh he's he's really really hot how to tell you guys this okay and and I'm I'm I'm all for the big Christmas train now okay all right let's see who's stepped in his who's filling the
- 59:10[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so I got an idea.
- 59:13[SPEAKER_02]: The other Watson in town.
- 59:15[SPEAKER_04]: Watson is stuck there.
- 59:16[SPEAKER_04]: I've got a free idea for the Cleveland Guardians marketing department.
- 59:20[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, you're ready for this.
- 59:21[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, Watson, Jersey, Trayton, Night.
- 59:24[SPEAKER_04]: You could bring in your Dishon Watson, Jersey, and we'll give you a Colleal Watson, Jersey, because we finally found a Watson in the city of Cleveland that could do something.
- 59:33[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, these young kids with Jose being out.
- 59:38[SPEAKER_00]: have stepped up, stepped up at, you know, a little bit.
- 59:42[SPEAKER_00]: You know, still we need more office, still we need more wins.
- 59:45[SPEAKER_00]: But our pitching has been just outstanding.
- 59:49[SPEAKER_00]: And so, you're right, I have a big, big, garz fan.
- 59:53[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, big.
- 59:54[SPEAKER_00]: I watch it.
- 59:55[SPEAKER_00]: I just, I'm so warm.
- 59:57[SPEAKER_02]: I just knew you were going to love Khalil Watson.
- 1:00:00[SPEAKER_02]: I like him.
- 1:00:01[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I like the kid.
- 1:00:02[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I really do.
- 1:00:03[SPEAKER_00]: So, big Christmas, wish you well, wherever you are.
- 1:00:06[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I have Watson right now.
- 1:00:08[SPEAKER_00]: You shut up, guys.
- 1:00:09[SPEAKER_00]: Leave me alone about this.
- 1:00:11[UNKNOWN]: Okay.
- 1:00:11[SPEAKER_02]: You wish him well.
- 1:00:13[SPEAKER_04]: Well, all right, Han, for we got to ask about this too.
- 1:00:18[SPEAKER_04]: It's dominated much of the show today.
- 1:00:20[SPEAKER_04]: It's dominated much of the last 14 days if we're being honest.
- 1:00:24[SPEAKER_04]: You think well, bronze coming back?
- 1:00:26[SPEAKER_00]: I do.
- 1:00:27[SPEAKER_00]: I do.
- 1:00:28[SPEAKER_00]: And one thing I want to say to you, LeBron.
- 1:00:31[SPEAKER_00]: Big dog, come back home, come back home, come back home.
- 1:00:35[SPEAKER_00]: We need you, come back home.
- 1:00:39[SPEAKER_00]: I think he is coming back.
- 1:00:40[SPEAKER_00]: I think he will be in clean, but you know LeBron, LeBron want to just milk this thing as long as he can milk.
- 1:00:47[SPEAKER_01]: Go, which I'm not blaming, he deserved that.
- 1:00:49[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he has the right to do that.
- 1:00:51[SPEAKER_00]: So, but yes, LeBron, I'm a big, big, LeBron fan.
- 1:00:56[SPEAKER_00]: And I love, I absolutely love the caps.
- 1:01:01[SPEAKER_02]: All right, we appreciate your insights top dog, everything.
- 1:01:03[SPEAKER_02]: Boop, boop, boop, boop, boop.
- 1:01:05[SPEAKER_02]: Well, Paul, baseball, basketball, you got it from this guy.
- 1:01:08[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, well, you guys do a favor.
- 1:01:10[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you guys, uh, tell Ryan, I said, hi.
- 1:01:12[SPEAKER_04]: Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha,
- 1:01:22[SPEAKER_02]: Ah, we, all right, we got to take a short break with back with more big play Cleveland right after this.
- 1:01:26[SPEAKER_04]: On the biggest stage in the world, Fandwell is changing the game because sometimes your player gets subbed off and your bet goes with them.
- 1:01:34[SPEAKER_04]: Not anymore with Fandwell's super sub, if your player is subbed out your bet stays in.
- 1:01:40[SPEAKER_04]: That's right.
- 1:01:41[SPEAKER_04]: If your player leaves the match, your bet continues on with the substitute.
- 1:01:45[SPEAKER_04]: So you're in it until the final whistle because in matches like these anything can happen and now your bed can go with the distance let there be goals this summer on Fandle visit fandle.com slash big play get started now 21 plus in select states for Kansas and affiliation with Kansas star cuz you know 18 plus in DC Kentucky and Wyoming gambling probably call 1 800 gambler or what 800
- 1:02:13[SPEAKER_04]: My reset gab we have the home run Derby tonight one of the most exciting nights in the baseball calendar is finally here
- 1:02:23[SPEAKER_04]: This is like the coolest all star event remaining.
- 1:02:26[SPEAKER_04]: I don't keep slam dunk contest, had its place in my heart throughout my entire childhood.
- 1:02:33[SPEAKER_04]: It's gone now.
- 1:02:34[SPEAKER_04]: Any cool dunk that you could do has been dunked.
- 1:02:36[SPEAKER_04]: Three point contest is cool.
- 1:02:38[SPEAKER_04]: The pro ball is completely dead.
- 1:02:40[SPEAKER_04]: There's nothing like the home run derby though.
- 1:02:42[SPEAKER_04]: I'm looking forward to tonight.
- 1:02:44[SPEAKER_02]: there is something exciting about it every year because I think that people can surprise you in this event, you know, Schwerber obviously he's leading the majors with, I think it's 32 home runs at this.
- 1:02:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's ridiculous.
- 1:02:55[SPEAKER_02]: Um, and what a cool rivalry it can be between him and Harper and they're, they're long, I know Harper.
- 1:03:01[SPEAKER_02]: We're looking at the odds, obviously.
- 1:03:03[SPEAKER_02]: He's a little further down the list.
- 1:03:04[SPEAKER_02]: But even just those two, I'm sure that Harper's game will be elevated with Schwerber.
- 1:03:09[SPEAKER_04]: Did you go when the lost argument you were there right in 2019 yeah that was the coolest thing I think I've ever experienced I was out I was in right field with big play Dave and in the home runs literally like there were so many baseballs just above our head it was like watching a firework display or baseballs from where we were standing it was wild.
- 1:03:29[SPEAKER_02]: Major League blasts are just different than your local celebrity softball game yeah for sure especially in a setting
- 1:03:38[SPEAKER_04]: Did you see what Harper said this is kind of crazy about like wanting to use the aluminum bat for like the like the not the regular round, but when they get the extra time when they hit the special colored balls, he said you should get to use an aluminum bat, but that would decapitate one of those little six year olds that they have I'll now feel like and one of the guys using aluminum bat, you could probably no joke hit a thousand foot home run.
- 1:04:05[SPEAKER_02]: we could hit more.
- 1:04:06[SPEAKER_02]: If it was here, we could hurt somebody.
- 1:04:08[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:04:08[SPEAKER_04]: Like, you're going to loom it on bat.
- 1:04:10[SPEAKER_04]: You could, you could hurt somebody with an aluminum bat.
- 1:04:14[SPEAKER_04]: All right, we're looking at these odds, though.
- 1:04:15[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, let's take a look.
- 1:04:16[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, let's take a look.
- 1:04:16[SPEAKER_04]: Kyle Schworber, the favorite plus 320, Jr. Cameron Arrow, obviously some cleaventies and maybe a little bit of a jab at our side.
- 1:04:25[SPEAKER_04]: Now that he's on the Tampa Bay race, four to one, the Southside Samurai, Monteka Murakami plus 550, Jack Caglione plus 650, Jordan Walker has those same odds.
- 1:04:36[SPEAKER_04]: Bryce Harper plus eight, 50, Ben Rice plus a thousand and Wilson Contreras, 15 to one.
- 1:04:43[SPEAKER_04]: It feels like the popular bet has been the chalk pick, the favorite in Kyle Schwarber.
- 1:04:48[SPEAKER_04]: He's lead in the majors with 32.
- 1:04:50[SPEAKER_04]: He's in his home ballpark at Citizens Bank Park or whatever.
- 1:04:53[SPEAKER_04]: It's called out there in Philly.
- 1:04:55[SPEAKER_04]: So obviously there's a little bit of an advantage for Kyle Schwarber.
- 1:04:59[SPEAKER_04]: That's who Jensen picked.
- 1:05:01[SPEAKER_04]: I don't hate that.
- 1:05:02[SPEAKER_04]: He's the favorite, which always feels a little bit achy when you're trying to put it in a bed, but at three to one, you're still tripling your money if he finds a way to do it.
- 1:05:11[SPEAKER_04]: So there are certainly been worse and dumber bets made on this program than that one.
- 1:05:17[SPEAKER_04]: That's the popular one that's out there, though, is Schwerber at plus three 20 gap.
- 1:05:21[SPEAKER_02]: Um, since we are talking about the home run Derby, it's our classic trivia question of how many home runs did Jim told me hit in the home run Derby in 97.
- 1:05:31[SPEAKER_04]: It's a good question.
- 1:05:32[SPEAKER_04]: I don't have it for you though.
- 1:05:34[SPEAKER_02]: I don't have the answer Ryan zero.
- 1:05:38[SPEAKER_04]: Wow, it was, it was a zero.
- 1:05:40[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's why I think the home render is kind of interesting because some, some guys could light it up, but like Schwerber, he's been leading the league and it's not like a guarantee.
- 1:05:47[SPEAKER_04]: And could you imagine it?
- 1:05:49[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's, it's not, it's not a guarantee.
- 1:05:52[SPEAKER_04]: And then, uh, Santana's had some rough ones too.
- 1:05:55[SPEAKER_04]: I'm just trying to get a while like, we've had a driver's to put it.
- 1:05:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, because I'm trying to think in he's he's 19, who was home run Derby for us in 20.
- 1:06:03[SPEAKER_02]: I think it wasn't Linda.
- 1:06:05[SPEAKER_02]: It wasn't Frankie.
- 1:06:06[SPEAKER_02]: Didn't he do it for fun?
- 1:06:07[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 1:06:07[SPEAKER_02]: I might have made that up.
- 1:06:09[SPEAKER_02]: 29.
- 1:06:09[SPEAKER_04]: You got to look at him run Derby.
- 1:06:11[SPEAKER_04]: Do you have anybody that you like tonight?
- 1:06:12[SPEAKER_04]: Because because with that logic in mind,
- 1:06:17[SPEAKER_04]: It could maybe, maybe betting on Schwerver's a bad idea to put up his zero and ninety seven.
- 1:06:22[SPEAKER_02]: I kind of liked Harper down the list.
- 1:06:23[SPEAKER_02]: I know we were chatting about it in the break here, but I liked him.
- 1:06:26[SPEAKER_02]: He's sitting at number six, but he's a guy.
- 1:06:28[SPEAKER_02]: He's a dude.
- 1:06:29[SPEAKER_02]: He'll show up.
- 1:06:29[SPEAKER_02]: And a whole ballpark, a whole ballpark, a whole ballpark.
- 1:06:32[SPEAKER_02]: Schwerber rivalry, like, I could see him and he's totally do for it.
- 1:06:36[SPEAKER_04]: It was Santana, it's 2019, by the way.
- 1:06:38[SPEAKER_02]: It was Santana, right.
- 1:06:39[SPEAKER_04]: OK. Do you remember who won that one in Cleveland?
- 1:06:47[SPEAKER_04]: I was there, and I didn't remember until I just looked at it.
- 1:06:50[SPEAKER_02]: Um, oh my gosh, give me the first letter of his name.
- 1:06:53[SPEAKER_04]: I could give you, I'll give you the final was Vladimir Guerrero Jr. versus Peter Lanzo.
- 1:07:00[SPEAKER_02]: Guerrero Jr. didn't Lanzo by one.
- 1:07:02[SPEAKER_04]: I would've never, I would've never, I would've never, I would've never, I would've never.
- 1:07:07[SPEAKER_04]: I wouldn't have guessed that Pete Alonzo won it all the way back.
- 1:07:09[SPEAKER_02]: I think I was 2019 was kind of a long time ago.
- 1:07:11[SPEAKER_02]: I think I was pulling for, for a bloody, but yeah, all right, that track.
- 1:07:18[SPEAKER_04]: I do remember the fans were pumped when jock Peterson beat out Alex pregnant.
- 1:07:23[SPEAKER_04]: Oh yeah, that was that was a very feel good moment in that home run Derby.
- 1:07:28[SPEAKER_04]: I want to see the all-star game come back It was a good time just me like all-star games in general now get a bad rap because they're boring and like now people are jogging on this because it's on Netflix tonight But I had so much fun when it was in Cleveland for baseball and basketball.
- 1:07:45[SPEAKER_04]: It was a blast.
- 1:07:45[SPEAKER_02]: It was incredible They were so much to do too.
- 1:07:47[SPEAKER_02]: We had we had stuff
- 1:07:50[SPEAKER_02]: All throughout the city go and on it was a good year and then to have Shane Bieber get the MVP that was The moment that they had for cookie obviously you hate the moment because of what it I get chose
