Latest / That Car Show / The ART of RADwood. With Hagerty's Art Cervantes.
Transcript
- 0:00I remember I ride with Socal one year, John Malkovich was like
- 0:03hanging out looking at like 1 of the weirdest, quirkiest cars we
- 0:07had was but one of my favorites is Honda City Turbo.
- 0:11You know, the little wide body that that has the Moto compo in
- 0:15the back and it and, and that was like his favorite thing.
- 0:18He spent probably half an hour just kind of talking to the
- 0:20owner, like walking around checking it out, but very
- 0:23Incognito, you know, wearing a beanie and a big jacket, just
- 0:26kind of chilling. So yeah, we love it.
- 0:30Today on that car show, Radwood cofounder Art Cervantes is back.
- 0:36Radwood by Haggerty rolls into the Bay Area this weekend with
- 0:39an awesome lineup of 80s and 90s cars, some I guarantee you've
- 0:43never seen before. We're going behind the scenes of
- 0:46Radwood Norcal getting a preview of this weekend's event and we
- 0:50find out what arts driving these days himself.
- 0:53Plus, what's next for Radwood, celebration of 80s and 90s car
- 0:57culture that's taken the enthusiast world by storm since
- 1:00its inception. It's Radwood Co founder Art
- 1:03Cervantes and it's that car show.
- 1:08Hey, it's that car show and we've got our buddy Art
- 1:10Cervantes back on the show today.
- 1:12Art, of course, is the Co founder of Radwood, the OG
- 1:16celebration of 80s and 90s cars and culture.
- 1:19He's been the director of Radwood at Haggerty since 2022
- 1:22as well. He's also part of the Driving
- 1:24While Awesome gang and we're big fans of their podcast.
- 1:27Art's here to talk about this weekend's Radwood Norcal event
- 1:29which is taking place on Saturday, October 24th from 4:00
- 1:33to 8:00 PM at Gold Bar Hanger in Alameda.
- 1:36Check thisoutticketsarefreewithregistrationandcanbereserved@radwood.com.
- 1:41And there's actually early entry for Haggerty Drivers Club
- 1:44members at 3:00 PM. And if you are in the Bay Area,
- 1:48you really need to go because they are pulling out all the
- 1:50stops on this one. They've even got Mix Master Mike
- 1:54from the Beastie Boys providing the sound.
- 1:56So bring us up to speed, Art. Yeah, well, thanks for having me
- 2:00again. Love hanging with you guys both
- 2:03in person and virtually. So, yeah, here we are.
- 2:06Yeah, it's it's this is going to be just, as you said, you know,
- 2:10a massive event, a much bigger endeavor and but also just such
- 2:14a fun and experiential sort of type of event where not only do
- 2:20we have a free general admission for the first time ever.
- 2:22So this is an event that's free to attend, but we have all these
- 2:26fun elements. I'll get to mix master mic in a
- 2:28second. But one thing that is been, you
- 2:32know, as we were inspired early on and probably I mentioned last
- 2:36time I was here, we were inspired by the Goodwood folks,
- 2:39right? So Goodwood Revival, Goodwood
- 2:41Festival of Speed. The one thing that we've been
- 2:43missing is that driving element, right, is those vehicles in
- 2:45motion. So we have for the first time
- 2:48ever what we're calling a Wheels in Motion exhibition.
- 2:50So I've curated 10 iconic Radwood era cars that are going
- 2:55to be doing flybys adjacent to the venue there.
- 2:58So yeah. And this is the venue itself is
- 3:03in an old World War 2 Naval Air base.
- 3:06And for those that are familiar with distilled spirits, this is
- 3:11the old Hangar One Vodka facility.
- 3:14So we're in the hangar, Hangar One Vodka.
- 3:16So we're taking over the old hangar that used to be a Hangar
- 3:20One vodka and all of the adjacent kind of property.
- 3:24And that's where the show itself is.
- 3:26We have, you know, live entertainment as as you
- 3:29mentioned there. And then also Goodyear is our
- 3:31title partner and they have a something called the VBR set up,
- 3:34which is a virtual kind of racetrack.
- 3:36Imagine you're in a simrig, but instead of driving a virtual
- 3:39car, you're driving a physical RC car on a track, which is
- 3:44pretty cool. And the flybys themselves are
- 3:47happening adjacent to the property, like kind of on the
- 3:49old airfield and we have the San Francisco skyline as our
- 3:53backdrop. So as the cars fly by, the
- 3:55photos are going to be epic. One thing that I I apologize, I
- 3:59don't know if you mentioned this, but this is an evening,
- 4:01you know, early evening event, right?
- 4:03And so that means golden hour lighting into the night, which
- 4:07means even more lighting with, you know, bringing back that rad
- 4:10sort of factor, right? Like creating kind of a cool and
- 4:14all. Exactly.
- 4:14You got to have the neon, you got to have the cool colors and
- 4:17all of that. So this is a, a, a new concept.
- 4:20We have a fully curated show as well.
- 4:23So historically, we've never done classes per SE, but this
- 4:26time we have, you know, around a dozen classes that include
- 4:31everything from hot hatches to, you know, track toys.
- 4:34And we have vans, We have a truck Class K cars, you know,
- 4:37those little Japanese cars, you know, that are 660 CC and
- 4:41smaller, to name a few. But yeah, so really cool.
- 4:44And then to top it off, you know, on top of the fashion, of
- 4:47course, because we always encourage everyone to dress up
- 4:49here to correct clothing. We're doing period correct music
- 4:52and have an performer, an iconic performer, legendary even, you
- 4:59know, mixed master Mike from the Beastie Boys is going to be our
- 5:02headliner. So we have a couple of other
- 5:04live DJs, Beverly Chills, who's like a popular kind of, you
- 5:09know, she spends a lot of retro themed kind of house music and
- 5:12stuff like that. Yeah.
- 5:15And then we and then DJ Nardi, who's also going to be in the
- 5:18mix there, but no pun intended, but but yeah.
- 5:23So, yeah, it's it's going to be a wild one.
- 5:26Yeah. So we're really excited.
- 5:27I know we're not going to, we're not going to talk numbers just
- 5:31yet. But I can tell you just without
- 5:33getting into specifics, this will be by far our biggest event
- 5:37we've ever put on from an attendance standpoint.
- 5:39And I right as of right now, it's triple our biggest event
- 5:44we've ever had in Norcal from an attendance standpoint.
- 5:46Wow. So.
- 5:47No big deal, guys. It's going to be big, yeah.
- 5:50So, but we're really excited about it.
- 5:52I have some really, really good cars are and I we we've, you
- 5:55know, worked our team to to select these cars and the
- 5:58variety is going to be amazing. And the quality of the cars is
- 6:01incredibly high this year. So super exciting.
- 6:04That's amazing. I love it.
- 6:06Can you share some of the cars? Absolutely.
- 6:09So I'm I'm most proud of the fly by cars, the the wheels in
- 6:14motion cars because we're going to see them moving and hear them
- 6:17and and and and I was involved in in sort of cherry picking
- 6:19those. We're going to start off with a
- 6:21vector M12, so so. So not just AW 8 but an M12.
- 6:28An M12. So first of all, you never see
- 6:31vectors, period, right? And and then you never see them
- 6:35like actually running. And now we're going to see one
- 6:38actually doing a flyby multiple times across the venue.
- 6:41So yeah. So yeah, this is huge.
- 6:45And the M12 has got a Lamborghini V12 in it, from what
- 6:49I recall. I think it might be the Diablo
- 6:51engine. It's been a while, but this is
- 6:53a, a 90s. I mean, how do we describe this
- 6:56thing? A spaceship supercar thing?
- 6:58I mean, it's so far ahead of its time.
- 7:01Like the epitome. The epitome of RAD, maybe?
- 7:04Yeah, Yeah, I think so. Like, and I think, yeah, I, I've
- 7:08heard conflicting reports, but I mean, it's either one of 12 or
- 7:11one of 17. So like exceptionally rare.
- 7:14Yeah, very rare, yeah. I've I've been lucky to see like
- 7:183 or 4 of them, but like you said, I've never seen one moving
- 7:21and certainly never doing flybys.
- 7:22So that that alone is reason to make your way to Radwood.
- 7:27I mean, that's. 100%, yeah. And I've seen three I've total,
- 7:32so you might, may have me beat one.
- 7:34Was that? Yeah, right.
- 7:37Yeah. 1 was the silver one in LA on her first Radwood SoCal
- 7:41event. And then we had, and then I saw
- 7:43the teal one in Scottsdale a few years ago and then this one.
- 7:47So these are the three. And by the way, actually I
- 7:49haven't even seen this one in person yet, so this will be my
- 7:51third. The alleged third one, yeah.
- 7:55Alleged third one. I know it exists, at least I I
- 7:59have a lot of evidence to suggest that it doesn't exist.
- 8:02So we have that guy. We have a straight piped
- 8:06Testarossa, so that'll be fun. That is allegedly, allegedly
- 8:12straight pipe. We have a Subaru 22B tribute, a
- 8:17fully built Subaru 22B tribute, Really, really nice car.
- 8:21We have two different skylines. We have a completely stocked R34
- 8:25GTR with just an exhaust. So we get a little bit of that,
- 8:28that classic RB26 sound. Then there's a a a fully built
- 8:33R32 Skyline formerly owned by Matt Farah that is now a drag
- 8:38car. Basically, it's like fully built
- 8:40as a drag car. Yeah.
- 8:42And this one is the ultra special one that you never get
- 8:47to see in motion. And, you know, popularized
- 8:50recently, it was it last year's Super Bowl.
- 8:52You know what I'm talking about during the halftime show.
- 8:55Be a Grand National. Yeah, yeah, yeah, sure, sure.
- 8:59You're not going to walk on it, are you?
- 9:01I might, we'll see. You know, I'm just kidding.
- 9:04I might. I might dance on it.
- 9:06But yeah, exactly the other day because.
- 9:09But yeah. It is a fully built 1 though, so
- 9:11it looks relatively stock, but, you know, very, very much like
- 9:15worked over underneath. So that'll be fun.
- 9:18What else do we have? They're always.
- 9:20So fun to see on the road. So that'd be especially fun to
- 9:22see it doing. What you're doing?
- 9:24Yeah, they're so cool. And also they're very like, it's
- 9:27like a very Bay Area car. Like there's a lot of culture
- 9:30around those cars in the Bay Area there.
- 9:32There's another one that's on display in our turbocharged
- 9:35class and that car that the turbocharged class car one Radis
- 9:41domestic and Radwood 2024 in Northern California.
- 9:45And that car is incredible. It's it's I I'd say, I mean,
- 9:48we'll see what this one looks like in person.
- 9:50Obviously, we've seen a ton of pictures of the one that's going
- 9:52to participate in these Dr. Bys or sorry, that sounds bad.
- 9:55Fly bys reverse. It.
- 10:00Yeah. Exactly.
- 10:03Yeah, but the the the one that one rat is domestic, I'd say is
- 10:07the nicest one I've ever seen by far.
- 10:09I mean it, it was pristine. Carr a little bit breathed on,
- 10:13you know, from a performance standpoint.
- 10:14But the thing that set it off for me is that it had the
- 10:17perfect set of custom built HRE wheels.
- 10:21And this is my favorite part of the story is that there were HRE
- 10:25wheels built in the 90s for a GNX, but they were never
- 10:29installed. So the guy bought them.
- 10:31He found them new old stock in boxes and put them on
- 10:35specifically to show them at Radwood with the car.
- 10:38And he ended up taking Rad's domestic.
- 10:39But they're like a basket weave mesh design, you know, so very
- 10:43much like the GNX style, but a little bit upsized.
- 10:46I think there were sixteens and, you know, in terms of the offset
- 10:49and everything, they fit beautifully.
- 10:50So yeah, but yeah, I nerd out on that sort of thing, but
- 10:53absolutely, yeah. So, but yeah, I can, I can, if
- 10:57you want, I can jump into a couple more cars of the classes
- 10:59and then we can talk a little bit more about the event.
- 11:00But. If you have a Chisetta Moroder,
- 11:03I will be hugely. I I would love to have a
- 11:06Chisetta Moroder and we've never had a Chisetta Moroder at
- 11:09Radwood. We've tried.
- 11:11Yeah, we've tried and we actually came super close
- 11:14because we we, we have that one, you know, as Radwood, you know,
- 11:18we're part of Haggerty now. We had that one.
- 11:21Jason Camisa did the icons video.
- 11:23I think it was on. And so if for a second it was it
- 11:27was at his warehouse when he was shooting it.
- 11:30So I was talking to him about possibly getting it to Radwood
- 11:33and the timing didn't work out, but we got really close.
- 11:36But let's see. So some other highlights.
- 11:39We have a class that we've always wanted to have or, you
- 11:43know, sort of the feature is what we're calling the tuners
- 11:46class. And this is not like, you know,
- 11:49import racer tuner. This is like your period tuners,
- 11:52right? So hard guess Saline Callaway,
- 11:56you know, free merger EMG, these types of things, right.
- 12:00So we have a Callaway Turbo wide body mark 1 GTI, which is
- 12:08incredible, you know, and in this type of thing is I, I love
- 12:13it because most people didn't don't know and will we educate
- 12:16folks right at our events with this sort of thing that Callaway
- 12:19started with a lot of euro cars and in in specifically E 21
- 12:23BMWs, Scirocco's and mark one and mark 2 GT is so this is kind
- 12:29of going back to their roots and, and, and so this car in
- 12:32particular is, is stunning and of course it's got a cool
- 12:34graphics package on it and all that.
- 12:37And also in that class we have a fully built spoon, you know, a
- 12:43JDM civic type R So this is an EK9, real EK9.
- 12:50And those for for those that are not aware or not in the in the,
- 12:56I guess you call them the uninitiated, right?
- 12:58Sure. Yeah, the Spoon B16B motor is a
- 13:031.6 liter dual overhead Cam naturally aspirated motor that
- 13:07came out in the mid 90s and it Revs to 10 grand so and it makes
- 13:12peak power at like 9600. Or something insane.
- 13:15Yeah, and an. Amazing driving experience.
- 13:18Yes, and they sound unbelievable.
- 13:20And you know, on top of that, you know, you're talking about a
- 13:231.6 liter. I think they make something like
- 13:25200 horsepower out of a little 1.6 liter naturally aspirated in
- 13:28the 90s Yeah. So that's a very special one.
- 13:32And then we have a pre merger AMG, you know, W 126 Mercedes.
- 13:37So this is the the sedan, right? Let's see.
- 13:40What else do we have real quick? Oh, I can say this officially.
- 13:44You know it's going to be good. So we have a movie car class.
- 13:48Yes, I was going to ask about. This so we have a movie car
- 13:52class we have, I'll start off slow and I'll wrap up to the to
- 13:56the big one. So we have a Lotus Esprit turbo
- 14:00from one of the you know that it was from the IT is James Bond.
- 14:04I'm spacing on the name of the movie right now, but it's the
- 14:06white one with the you know, I had the skis on the on the top.
- 14:09Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
- 14:12Yeah, so you know, you know the one red livery, right or with
- 14:15the red, you know, turbo script on the side.
- 14:17Beautiful car with the BBS Molly wheels.
- 14:20We have that one, we have the the motorcycle from Terminator 2
- 14:25is going to be there and another James Bond car, the Jaguar XKRI.
- 14:31Think it's an XKR, right? The the green one, which had all
- 14:34the guns on it and stuff. Sure, sure, yeah, you know, a
- 14:37few others, a few others, but we have the Batman Returns
- 14:42Batmobile coming, so yeah. So that will be on site.
- 14:46Awesome. Yeah, and really excited about
- 14:50that one. So that's a center.
- 14:51So we'll have that guy there. And yeah.
- 14:53So this is your to give you a taste, right?
- 14:55Like this is the type of stuff. And one thing that I wanted to
- 14:57like be clear about is because this is the first time we do
- 15:01this, right, for this level of curation.
- 15:04And there's an application process and we're building out
- 15:06classes, right? And so, you know, there was some
- 15:09people who were concerned that, you know, we're being too
- 15:11selective. And, you know, we've always been
- 15:12very inclusive as a car show, right?
- 15:14We you got an 80s and 90s car. This is where you show it.
- 15:16You're welcome. You know, this is yeah.
- 15:18And this is a different concept. So we're putting on a type of a
- 15:21certain type of experience within a footprint, right?
- 15:24We have a limited space here. And so, and as you can tell, you
- 15:28know, in the hot hatch hot hatches class, for example, I'll
- 15:32go back to to show you a couple more examples.
- 15:35We have just a really, really clean stock Mark 1 GTI, right?
- 15:39We've talked about vectors, we've talked about Callaways,
- 15:42we've talked about Grand Nationals.
- 15:44It's it's, it's the full, the full spectrum, right?
- 15:46Like we're not just looking for six, six to seven figure cars
- 15:50here. It's not all supercars.
- 15:51It's we're building out these classes for with a specific
- 15:54intent here. And you know, the truck in
- 15:57class, you know, this is what what is our truck class?
- 16:00We have everything from like super rad Toyota mini trucks to
- 16:04like, you know, a huge slammed, you know, dually Crew Cab
- 16:09Chevy's from the 90s with billet grills, right?
- 16:11So, so it's, it's the full, the full thing.
- 16:14And you know, and also we have, you know, like the Pajero
- 16:17evolution in there, which is a JDM, you know, I'm all gated
- 16:21rally car. So it's, it's definitely a
- 16:25different concept and, and we're testing it out.
- 16:27We, we think this, you know, is going to go really well.
- 16:29The, the, in terms of a response standpoint, Evidently we have a
- 16:32tremendous amount of interest from an attendance standpoint so
- 16:35far people have RSVP, but it's a good point.
- 16:38But I look forward to the post event feedback too, because this
- 16:41is a different concept, right? This is the greatest hits
- 16:44collection, Yeah. I mean, this is like a museum
- 16:46quality. This is an exhibition, really, I
- 16:50mean. This is.
- 16:51The best? Exactly.
- 16:53So that's the idea, right? It's we're putting on a show,
- 16:55right And like, and it's so and when we're doing that, you know,
- 16:58it's it's a little tricky, right?
- 16:59Like that means that, you know, doesn't mean that you're 86.
- 17:03Prelude doesn't isn't going to make it because we have one of
- 17:06those and and it's, but it's the most, it's the nicest one you've
- 17:09ever seen, you know, versus, you know, like this is not the show
- 17:14where we're going to, we're going to have, you know, kind of
- 17:17anything goes. We will have other opportunities
- 17:20for that, you know, maybe some Radwood kind of themed cars and
- 17:22coffees and things like that where we can do that.
- 17:24But we're sort of doing this this, we're experimenting with
- 17:27this concept, I should say. Well, it's the full breadth of
- 17:30the cars of the RAD era and that's, you know, it's a new
- 17:34approach. But I think, like you said,
- 17:35people are going to see some like a little bit of everything,
- 17:38which is really interesting. Yeah, totally.
- 17:43Yeah, we have the the topless icons class.
- 17:48So did you? Was that a team effort naming
- 17:51the classes? Because some of them are pretty
- 17:52fun. I'd say I'll take 90% of the
- 17:56credit for them and it was kind of like this is what I want to
- 18:00do like what do you guys think? But the the topless icons
- 18:04obviously being cheeky there. You know, the same deal, right?
- 18:07Mark 1 cabriolet. You got to have the best one
- 18:09there. You got to have a Mark 1
- 18:11cabriolet. You want you want to like, oh,
- 18:13here's one that applied kind of recently that we accepted one of
- 18:17two coach built convertible Riviera.
- 18:21So this is like a 198182 Buick Riviera, but it's a convertible.
- 18:26And you know, again, we're talking about how much does this
- 18:30car worth? I don't know, 15 grand, I don't
- 18:32care, right? It's the coolest.
- 18:34Like, you know, it's, it's so rad and like it's, it's very
- 18:38welcome in that class. We have, of course, you know,
- 18:42the, the classics, right? 9/11 target G body.
- 18:44We have a guards red one, beautiful example of one of
- 18:46those and you know, those types of things.
- 18:49But but yeah, it's, it's super exciting.
- 18:51Well, it sounds like that that car epitomizes, you know, you've
- 18:55said on the website like this is Radwood with even more rad.
- 18:58And it seems like that car really epitomizes like this is
- 19:01some of the most rad. Yeah, yeah, we're it's sort of
- 19:04like, I think you right. You just had the greatest hits,
- 19:06right. It's right.
- 19:08And and and we try to incorporate as usual, right,
- 19:11Some of the rare and obscure, like in the fun stuff like this
- 19:13Riviera, right. There's gonna be a lot of this
- 19:15stuff. And of course, you know we have
- 19:18an Aster Martin Lagonda, right? Like you.
- 19:20Know Oh God, that's your peak Radwood car.
- 19:24Honestly, I think that's a cool thing. 100% yeah, it is.
- 19:28So you know, Lindsay mentioned vector being peak Radwood.
- 19:32I think peak Radwood for the 90s a 100%.
- 19:34I think Aster Martin Lagonda is peak Radwood for the 80s.
- 19:37It's those are two really good examples of because the vectors
- 19:40got the, the sort of the more rounded off, kind of like
- 19:44streamlined but still sculpted kind of approach of the 90s that
- 19:49was very popular. That's that sort of fighter jet
- 19:52silhouette. And then the 80's the the
- 19:54Lagonda's got the Super angular Jujaro esque stuff going on with
- 19:58all the weird technology and all that.
- 20:00But yeah, so it's, it's, yeah, it's all happening, man.
- 20:04We're we're amped for this. That's fantastic.
- 20:06Feels very. Like back to I think it's all
- 20:08happening. Exactly 2 things that Riviera.
- 20:12I've seen just pictures of one of those convertibilized
- 20:15Riviera's and it looks really good, like it could have been
- 20:18from the factory. Like the lines support it being
- 20:21topless right in that Aston Barton I remember seeing.
- 20:25That's a car I never saw in person as a kid.
- 20:27And I think it wasn't until a few years ago I ever saw one in
- 20:29the flesh. But every once in a while you'd
- 20:31see one in a in an ad, like in an upscale magazine like Town
- 20:34and Country or something. And.
- 20:36I think, yeah. What?
- 20:37Is this alternative reality going on where people are
- 20:39driving these spaceships, you know, with six headlights or
- 20:42whatever that one, the digital dashes and it's just that is
- 20:45such an icon, such an icon that's and and that just even a,
- 20:49a, a stock clean, you know, Mark 1 GTI would be a thing to to
- 20:53behold. So.
- 20:54Yeah, I mean, I, I, I'm the type of person that if I was, I could
- 20:58be in anything. You know, I can be in a, in a
- 21:00Lamborghini, Ferrari, whatever. And I will literally jump out of
- 21:04my car to see, to take a picture of a Mark 1 GTI if I saw it on
- 21:07the street. You know, like, like especially,
- 21:09you know, as a one that's all original like that, that just
- 21:12doesn't exist. You know, they're they're so
- 21:13rare. This one is a it's, it's the
- 21:16burgundy, you know, like that non metallic burgundy with the
- 21:18burgundy interior, the blur interior, which which you also
- 21:22never see. Most of them were silver or
- 21:24black. So right.
- 21:25So yeah, it's it's really, really cool.
- 21:28But yeah, we have the also, I don't know if you guys heard we
- 21:30have the Radwood build challenge going on.
- 21:32So we have three cars that we're building.
- 21:36Yeah. So we have a Larry Chan, Mike
- 21:38Burroughs and Vin Anatra building cars for us for this
- 21:42event. And so it's really exciting.
- 21:44They chose their own cars. This is something that we've
- 21:46collaborated with a Goodyear for and to execute this.
- 21:49Then we have three cars being built.
- 21:51So the shows are live on the Haggerty YouTube channel right
- 21:55now, the Radmobile challenge, if you want to check it out.
- 21:57And it all culminates at the event.
- 22:00So they're going to be revealed in their final form at the
- 22:03event. And it's basically a People's
- 22:06Choice award type situation where you have to vote for these
- 22:09cars in person at the event. We're not doing it digitally,
- 22:13literally as analog as it gets. We're dropping in a coin into a
- 22:17voting like, you know, box or, you know, ballot box or
- 22:20whatever. And, and so we're, we're, we're
- 22:24doing that on site and we'll reveal the winners there.
- 22:26But it's going to be a $50,000 grand prize to the builder and
- 22:30$50,000 grab $50,000 to a charity of their choice.
- 22:34So $100,000 grand prize for this one.
- 22:37So it's, it's huge. This is massive.
- 22:38And you know, it's, it's, it's down to the wire now.
- 22:42I'm like, I'm a little bit, you know, in the know what's going
- 22:44on and they're kind of buttoning up their stuff right now.
- 22:47And it's, it's, it's their, their builds are super cool
- 22:49though. They did a really good job and
- 22:50the show's fun. I I don't know if you guys had a
- 22:52chance to check out the episodes yet, but.
- 22:53Not yet. Can you tell us without
- 22:55revealing you know your behind the scenes knowledge?
- 22:58Can you tell us which cars everybody chose?
- 23:01Oh yeah, absolutely. Yeah.
- 23:02So Larry Chen is doing and late 90, I think it's a 96 accord, 95
- 23:08or 96 Accord. It's an Sir.
- 23:10So it's a Japanese spec car that he imported from Japan and he's
- 23:13doing a sort of a retro, what at the time was called a JGTC,
- 23:19eventually became Super GT. So it's like the touring car
- 23:22championship, like an inspired sort of build.
- 23:25Yeah. And these cars were, you know,
- 23:27it's sort of the equivalent of like BTCC or DTM in Europe, but
- 23:31in Japan. And these cars are pretty
- 23:33iconic. They they had a Castro livery
- 23:37car that was super cool. And there was like the jacks one
- 23:39that he's sort of kind of building his build around.
- 23:42But I, I'm not going to reveal what livery he chose.
- 23:45You guys can check that out, But it's, it's that so these cars
- 23:49are it's basically like a full race car, super slam to the
- 23:52ground, big wheels that inspired by that.
- 23:55And he's got a little additional sort of flair that he's added
- 23:59that comes out from under the hood.
- 24:01You'll see that on the episode. And that was inspired by a
- 24:04recent trip to Thailand because he saw some folks.
- 24:06Yeah, yeah, yeah. That was a great series of
- 24:09videos that he did for you, too, for Haggerty.
- 24:11Yeah. Yeah, that was a good one.
- 24:13And then Vin has got, you know, I mentioned it dually, he's got
- 24:18a huge 90s. I don't know what it's not a
- 24:23Silverado, but it's a, you know, a Chevrolet Crew Cab dually,
- 24:28just the gigantic thing is 25 feet long.
- 24:30I had a measure because I'm doing the the sort of the
- 24:32presenting presentation on site the.
- 24:35Engineers need to know then. They need to know.
- 24:38Yeah, and he's basically doing like a 90s inspired build,
- 24:42right? So just color matched the grill
- 24:45to the paint and everything. It's white and he's got some
- 24:49really cool custom wheels on it and all of these different
- 24:51little sort of accessories of the air, right, Like the little
- 24:54spoilers and and all that kind of stuff.
- 24:57And then, yeah, it's it's it's definitely got very much at home
- 25:01at our show. And then Mike Burrows is
- 25:04building a Lotus Esprit turbo from the early 90s.
- 25:07And so that's a car that. Yeah, exactly.
- 25:11I'm going to do the what is it a big mistake?
- 25:15Yeah, yeah. We'll be expecting reenactment
- 25:17videos of you with that with the car.
- 25:20Yep. Yeah, big mistake.
- 25:22Yeah. So it's.
- 25:23A great license plate for vanity plate.
- 25:26If you could fit that, it would be perfect, yeah.
- 25:29Yeah, it would be perfect. Yeah, maybe I should.
- 25:32Yeah, Well, there is AI know what license plate is going on
- 25:36that car at the show, which I'll get to in a second, but that
- 25:38already has been selected for a reason.
- 25:41But so it's so Lotus is free turbo.
- 25:43He's doing like a cool sort of like retro kind of race car
- 25:46theme build as well. You know, he's got all sorts of
- 25:49custom componentry that he's he's he's put together and he's
- 25:53finding that it has to be right. Like I say, custom and it's not
- 25:56by choice, but it's because there isn't a tremendous amount
- 25:59of support for these cars, you know, and so, you know, they're,
- 26:02they're they're pretty rare, as you know, and, and, and they, a
- 26:05lot of them weren't modified, you know, they, they were kept
- 26:07pretty stocked. So, but but it's a cool, you
- 26:09know, wedgie, you know, classic silhouette from that era.
- 26:13So I alluded to the license plate.
- 26:15So on top of the fact that, you know, these cars are being built
- 26:19for Radwood to display at Radwood and we have this amazing
- 26:21grand prize, they're actually going to be sold on Haggerty
- 26:25Marketplace after the fact. So Haggerty Marketplace is, you
- 26:29know, our auction platform, right?
- 26:31And so these cars will be listed there and anybody can buy them.
- 26:35So these cars will be I think listed the week after.
- 26:39So that's the the target right now, yeah.
- 26:42Wow. So they're not even building
- 26:43them for themselves. It's a real labor of love and
- 26:45then the charity and then totally on to the next.
- 26:48Yeah, they're sort of like kind of, you know, it's their flavor
- 26:52and their sort of approach to a build, right, that's going into
- 26:54it, but it's not for that. Yeah, which is pretty that's.
- 26:57Wild. So what?
- 26:58Makes. Build like truly Radwood worthy
- 27:01as opposed to like just a cool modified car.
- 27:05Yeah. Well, you start with the age
- 27:07that or the era of the car, but then it's the it's sort of that
- 27:10aesthetic, right. And so like as I mentioned with
- 27:14but all of these cars have that going right.
- 27:16So like, you know, Larry's going with that classic JGTC style,
- 27:20like, you know, build like with a body kit, the stance, the
- 27:23wheels and also the livery, the style of the, you know, the
- 27:27actual graphics package that goes on the car.
- 27:29Same with with Mike's car. So the Lotus Esprit he is, he
- 27:34wrapped it in like a VHS cassette, like you know, do you
- 27:41remember like the sleeves that had?
- 27:43Like, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 27:45So it was, I can't remember if it was like Maxell or something
- 27:48like that, but it's one of those, you know, So it's you
- 27:51have to look it up. You'll see it on there was.
- 27:52One that was kind of, it was similar to the graphic on your
- 27:55hat actually it was like black with like a three stripe.
- 27:58Similar, right? Exactly.
- 27:59Yeah, yeah, yeah. This one is inspired by the
- 28:02Toyota like Iron Man Stewart, like sort of like Baja racers,
- 28:06but the the Vince car, our truck rather has got the you know, so
- 28:12one detail that was really popular in the 90s for trucks
- 28:15was they would sort of de Chrome them and and the Chrome would
- 28:18get painted the same color as the body.
- 28:21So he's doing that and then where you do have from sometimes
- 28:25it's replaced with billet. So we're doing that sort of
- 28:28thing. Also, the this is when things
- 28:30got the people started messing with with lighting to changing
- 28:34them from like, you know, amber to clear corners and you know,
- 28:36or different colors. He also found like a retro
- 28:39spoiler. I think.
- 28:41I don't know if it ended up going on now.
- 28:43I'm like fuzzy. It's been quite a few last
- 28:44couple of weeks, but. I mean, you say that like the
- 28:47last few days before an event are busy.
- 28:49Yeah, not not, yeah, we're just chilling.
- 28:51But I think it's, I think he, he did find the boomerang like a
- 28:56antenna that used to go on the old limos.
- 29:00So I'm pretty sure he added one of those.
- 29:03Yeah. So that's the kind of stuff that
- 29:05that's all Radwood approved, right?
- 29:06All those little touches that make it what it is.
- 29:09That's so funny. Those were fascinating to me as
- 29:12a kid because they looked unlike anything else.
- 29:13And it was this weird symbol of sort of wealth and opulence that
- 29:16you'd only see on limos in like, the occasional custom van, you
- 29:19know, Right? Totally.
- 29:20Yeah, Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 29:21And it's neat that these cars are going on.
- 29:23Haggerty Marketplace. It's funny.
- 29:25You know, Andrew Ganz, right, Editor Haggerty.
- 29:28That's his 993 behind me. I was thinking, you know,
- 29:30wouldn't it be funny if I submitted this marketplace and
- 29:34see how long it took to pick? Up you should that be funny see
- 29:37if it is to see like how yeah how long it takes right before.
- 29:41End of the link. Thought you might be interested
- 29:43in this call. Something you might like.
- 29:46He's a neighbor, which is why it's there, but.
- 29:48I see. Great.
- 29:49All right. Well, that's nice of you.
- 29:50I want a neighbor like that. Yeah, a little muddy.
- 29:53At all too, but yeah. OK, All right.
- 29:55Yeah. Or I was gonna say, does this
- 29:56partner know about this car? You know, is it one of those
- 29:59situations? I'm pulled away everywhere on
- 30:01the north side of town. Yeah, exactly your question, no.
- 30:05Yeah, OK. Oh, OK.
- 30:07Well, you know, I, I've been in that scenario, like, I mean, I'm
- 30:10not gonna disclose to, but a friend of mine is like, hey man,
- 30:13I just got this E12 BMW and I'm going to store it at my.
- 30:18He has a little warehouse where you whatever.
- 30:20And and so it's he was claiming that it was actually, you know,
- 30:25a customer. And, and so so anyways, I went
- 30:30with. It.
- 30:31I went with it, but I never had to say anything.
- 30:33I just if it came up, see, so I never lied, but and then the
- 30:37other one that I was going to another instance was going back
- 30:41to your comment about listing, you know, the 993 I once was
- 30:45selling an E36M3 and it was this is on the Craigslist days,
- 30:49right? And one of my friends, you know,
- 30:54I'm going to calm friend loosely because listen to what he did to
- 30:57me. He actually replicated my ad
- 31:00again with that unbeknownst to me and dropped the price by like
- 31:0450%. And like, and, and, and I all,
- 31:07and, but it was like, he also changed the copy a little bit
- 31:10like, oh, like urgent, like I got to, I got to move it now,
- 31:12you know, kind of a thing, like, you know, my wife's going to
- 31:14kill me kind of thing. And, and so all of a sudden I
- 31:17got like tons of emails for the car and I'm like, what is going
- 31:20on? You know, like, like, just like
- 31:22within hours of him posting this, I found out later and I'm
- 31:25like, what is happening? And I'm responding and I'm like,
- 31:27OK, I'm like just, you know, trying to like, kind of, you
- 31:30know, answer questions and a line on me.
- 31:32But it went from like, it went from like, OK, like getting, you
- 31:34know, the typical kind of like tire kicky stuff to like, I'll
- 31:39I'll show up like right now to buy your car kind of a thing.
- 31:41You know I have a. Bag of money burning a hole in
- 31:43my. Yeah.
- 31:45And then and so later on that day, Alex, you bastard, Alex.
- 31:53Alex told me, you know? Yeah, exactly.
- 31:56Alex is like, yeah, dude, I totally did this thing.
- 31:58And he deleted the ad, and he thought it was hilarious.
- 32:01I thought it was funny for a second, but yeah.
- 32:05Varying degrees of enthusiasm for.
- 32:08The Frank Yeah, by the way, you know you guys will love this.
- 32:11So you know, as you guys are aware, you know, Radwood era car
- 32:14values are through the roof now and this is when so I this was a
- 32:18very rare car. This was the car yellow M345.
- 32:22So this is an M3 sedan E36 with a 5 speed slick top, which I had
- 32:27probably mentioned last time sure.
- 32:30And I this car had some miles on it, right?
- 32:33Like I don't remember at the time, but this is in 2016.
- 32:38Call it I don't remember 20/17/2016, but it's a very,
- 32:41very rare car, right? And like, and it was impeccable.
- 32:44It was it was in pristine condition, but it had 140,000
- 32:48but all records since new to owner car all this and I think I
- 32:52wanted 13 five for it. And I got like so much Flack
- 32:57like they're like, Oh my God, with that mileage and blah,
- 32:59blah. And it was just like, I got so
- 33:01much Flack for it. And now that car is worth what,
- 33:0430 grand maybe? And.
- 33:08We say more than double, yeah. More than double, right.
- 33:11And we're seeing that trend right now, like it's the
- 33:14interest in this era of car right now is wild.
- 33:19And we're seeing that, you know, like by far, we have like the
- 33:21Radwood index to the Rad index, we call it.
- 33:23And so, and it's like the hottest like segment outside of
- 33:26like modern day supercars, which are also going through the roof
- 33:29right now. But and, and it's, it's
- 33:32definitely something that is now kind of a double edged sword for
- 33:35me, right? Because it's like, shoot, we had
- 33:37a kind of a bit of a kind of help trigger all of this and now
- 33:42like all the stuff that I want is too valuable.
- 33:44Right. You made it inaccessible to
- 33:46yourself. Yeah.
- 33:47Yeah, you call this stuff the millennia era cars, is that?
- 33:51So, yeah, so we have millennia era.
- 33:53We introduced, yeah, a new class at this event.
- 33:56So it's 2000 to 2010 and that's sort of the next generation,
- 34:00right? So it's sort of an introducing
- 34:02kind of like, and, and those cars are super hot now too.
- 34:05And this is all generational, right?
- 34:06Like, I mean, it's, it's these Gen.
- 34:08Xers and and millennials who are now like, and even the younger
- 34:12crowd, you know, the next group. Is that whatever that is?
- 34:16Is that what? What is that?
- 34:17After that. Yeah, the one after that.
- 34:19So kids in their, you know, late 20s, even 30s and it, it has a
- 34:24lot to do with the same stuff, right?
- 34:25It's like, you know what, what we were, you know, lusting
- 34:27after. We were when you were in high
- 34:29school and couldn't afford. And now you have some money and
- 34:31you're now seeking out the best examples of that or just
- 34:34whatever you can get. And naturally limited, you know,
- 34:37availability and inventory because they aren't there.
- 34:39Only so many exist. And so now you're seeing E39 M
- 34:42fives, B6 figure cars. You're seeing, you know,
- 34:45obviously the nine elevens are insane.
- 34:47And you know, all all this stuff from the early 2000s in in into
- 34:51that era. So 2000 and 2010 we're calling
- 34:54Millennium. OK.
- 34:56So how did you decide, or how do you decide when a new group or a
- 35:00new era is ready to be embraced by the Radwood, you know, sort
- 35:04of ethos? Yeah, I actually was just
- 35:07looking at values, you know, so and I started to see what's
- 35:10going on in the auction space and like, you know, being in
- 35:12Monterey, right, You're like, what is going on?
- 35:14Like all of a sudden like, you know, think there's a lot more
- 35:16interest. And and then also, you know, it
- 35:20started with us a couple of years ago where a lot of people
- 35:24with these cars wanted to bring them to Radwood and they're
- 35:26like, we don't have a place, you know, like these are now
- 35:29interesting collectible cars. And, you know, I have the best,
- 35:33you know, E30 or E46 M3, I have the best ZO6 Corvette, I have
- 35:38the best whatever. And, and it's just kind of like
- 35:42still treated as a used car, but like, you know, I don't think
- 35:45it's that, right. And so, and then we got in these
- 35:47conversations about kind of like the last of this sort of analog
- 35:52kind of experience, right? And so these are the cars that,
- 35:57you know, into these, the early 2000s, I should say, that are
- 36:01modern, right? By, you know, relatively modern,
- 36:04you know, they have GPS and all that, but it's, but they're
- 36:06still pretty analog, right? Like, especially when it comes
- 36:09to performance cars, most of them are manual transmissions.
- 36:11They don't have a ton of, you know, of the, the, the, the
- 36:15nannies and the electronics and you, and if they do have them,
- 36:18they're all, you know, that you can turn them off, which is kind
- 36:20of and, and now there's cars that yeah, exactly that don't
- 36:24allow that, right? So less screens and all that
- 36:27kind of thing. So and so now it's, it isn't
- 36:30just, you know, that next generation, it is, it is us, you
- 36:34know, it's all of it because it is kind of a, some people say
- 36:37peak car, right? Like, you know, like mid 2000s
- 36:40is kind of like that era of like sort of that perfect balance of
- 36:44modernity and, and, and still engagement and analog mix.
- 36:47Yeah. Definitely an inflection point
- 36:49for sure. So I saw that one of the classes
- 36:52is hot hatches, like you said, and we happened to be talking
- 36:56about that amongst Dan and Ryan and I recently.
- 36:58And so if you could convince 1 manufacturer to bring back a hot
- 37:04hatch, either as it was in its heyday or, you know, modernized
- 37:09for the current era, which one would you pick and why?
- 37:14Well, let me clear my throat for that.
- 37:17Yeah, great question. I'm so glad you had.
- 37:20The Beastie Boys, Yeah. Yeah.
- 37:22Well, you know, The funny thing is that like Honda is doing a
- 37:26phenomenal job. Like they they actually have
- 37:28that. They have a Civic Type R that's
- 37:30a phenomenal car. They have the Integra Type S,
- 37:32which is amazing. I don't know like.
- 37:34We both had had one as press cars and like definitely did not
- 37:38want to give it back. Yeah, they're amazing cars.
- 37:41The only thing that's missing is natural aspirated 2 door thighs
- 37:48shrunk. Give me a small agile, you know
- 37:51like naturally aspirated car, which is like a truly.
- 37:54Like a hot hatch? Yeah.
- 37:55Right, and so that's unfortunately not really a
- 37:57thing, right. It's it's so tough.
- 37:58But I mean, like I I would love me that from Honda, like, you
- 38:02know, so there's that. And I can say the same thing
- 38:05about a Peugeot or something. You know, you go into Europe and
- 38:08the European cars, like they do have some of these, you know,
- 38:11hatchbacks still out there, but like everything is just so heavy
- 38:14and like laden with like tech and like, and everything's
- 38:17turbocharged now. So like I just would like that
- 38:20purity of like, you know, so it it I would take it from anybody.
- 38:23I would take it from Volkswagen, I would take it from Honda, I
- 38:26would take it from, you know, Renault Peugeot.
- 38:28You know, there's some Citroen angles here.
- 38:31And so I think it's just a matter of like being able to
- 38:34produce something that unfortunately is 1 going to be
- 38:37extremely niche. And then also from a, you know,
- 38:39safety standpoint, and there's all these, you know, emissions
- 38:41regulations and all that, that really make it almost impossible
- 38:44now to do, you know, so it ends up being a kind of a, a custom
- 38:48sort of bespoke skunkworks thing that, you know, that someone
- 38:51else has to make. But, but that's sort of the the
- 38:54thing that I would love to see. And unfortunately it's, you
- 38:56know, we just have, well, not unfortunately, we can lean on
- 38:58the stuff that already we can go back to the Radwood era stuff.
- 39:03But I mean, I, I, I will say if I really had to like go One
- 39:07Direction and, and, and, and choose one manufacturer.
- 39:10I'm, I'm still very much like a JDM guy at heart.
- 39:12I started racing, you know, CR XS and, you know, Civics and
- 39:16Integra's back in the day. And, and I love like, like what?
- 39:20Like they just understand it so well, right.
- 39:23Like you look at the Type R kind of like main plate and what they
- 39:26did with those cars back in the in the early 90s and into the
- 39:30late 90s, like they're they just really, really captured that
- 39:33essence of like purity, you know, not super powerful, but
- 39:37just super well balanced, extremely stiff, like chassis,
- 39:41you know, stitch, Weld, steam welded chassis with very high
- 39:44revving naturally aspirated motors and arguably the best
- 39:46shifting transmissions you will find anywhere.
- 39:49And like, you know, keep it simple, you know, LSD,
- 39:52lightweight, good visibility, good seats, like all of that,
- 39:57right. So just keeping it as simple and
- 39:59analog as possible and. I think that would probably be
- 40:02it. I would go with a Honda, give me
- 40:04an OG Civic Type R, but yeah, yeah, more in a modern package
- 40:09there. You go, yeah, yeah.
- 40:10Well, I think you had visibility is something that I think in a
- 40:13lot of cars currently is can be challenging.
- 40:16So that's a key point. Yeah, and I know it's I can go
- 40:20back to the safety thing, right? I mean, it's all you got to make
- 40:22those ABC pillars thicker. You got to add airbags
- 40:25everywhere and all that. And I get it.
- 40:27I mean, that's, I want that when I'm driving around with my kids,
- 40:30you know, and, and, and, you know, I don't think about that
- 40:33when I'm ripping around in my, my E30.
- 40:35That's like, you know, fully built and has, you know, all
- 40:39twice the horsepower what it came with or whatever, you know,
- 40:41and it's got and the A pillars are like, you know, an inch and
- 40:44a half thick. But like, but it also creates
- 40:46that experience, right, of that visceralness and that engagement
- 40:49and, and that that, that is unique to those cars, which is
- 40:52why we love them so much. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 40:55Well, let's get back to the event real quick because, well,
- 40:58first question, you're gonna get to sleep at all before now and
- 41:00then. I've been averaging 5 hours of
- 41:03sleep for the last 10 days and I have a feeling that the next
- 41:07couple of days may be the same or less.
- 41:10Yeah. It's gonna be amazing.
- 41:13It's. Caffeinated.
- 41:14I'm between caffeine and hydration right now.
- 41:16Double. Testing right now, yeah, it's,
- 41:18it's going to be incredible. It's at a scale, like you said,
- 41:21unlike anything you've ever done before.
- 41:22When you, you know, think back to when you started this whole
- 41:25Radwood concept. Let's call it a concept, right?
- 41:27Because that's what it is. Did you ever in your wildest
- 41:30dreams think you'd be doing what you're doing on Saturday?
- 41:33No, like we like literally it was a total experiment.
- 41:37Like we're just, we thought it would, if anything, it would be
- 41:39like a little cars and coffee thing that we would do once a
- 41:41month, you know, and, and people would be into it, but it really
- 41:44struck a nerve, right? Like, and and it changed the
- 41:47industry even. So, like it's pretty wild.
- 41:49And just Lindsay, as you were saying, right, timing is, is
- 41:51everything right? And we just like, it was sort of
- 41:53like it was conversations, it was how we felt.
- 41:57And and then all of like, we're like, OK, we have these cars,
- 42:00we're into them and like we're starting to see people.
- 42:03I remember one of the conversations at the time that
- 42:05we had, this is pre Radwood by about a year from what I recall,
- 42:10what it was when, sorry, it was Randy of Bring A Trailer sold
- 42:16his personal E30M3 on Bring A Trailer and it was $55,000.
- 42:21And we're like what? And this is circa 2015 or
- 42:26something, you know? And no.
- 42:27One's heads explode, Yeah. Yeah.
- 42:29And and that was like, OK, there's what is happening,
- 42:32right. And then and then all of a
- 42:33sudden we started seeing more, more of that.
- 42:35And then, OK, now the now the Supra's and now the this, you
- 42:38know, and we're like, OK, what is happening, right?
- 42:40993? And at that point, not only did
- 42:43we say internally we're like, all right, we gotta start buying
- 42:45these cars before we can't afford them, but also like,
- 42:48obviously there's a lot of interest in these things now.
- 42:50So let's figure out ways to celebrate that and have a
- 42:52platform to go and enjoy these things.
- 42:56Yeah, well, you recognize the need.
- 42:58Yeah, yeah, that's, that's it. Just, hey, I was, the timing was
- 43:01super crucial and and we jumped on it and now, yeah, with this
- 43:05millennia thing, we're we're seeing a lot of interest in that
- 43:07class. I mean, that one filled up
- 43:09pretty quickly and there's a lot of good stuff, man.
- 43:11I mean, there it, it doesn't have to be super cars.
- 43:13There's just so many great cars in that area.
- 43:16Absolutely. I I just had a vision of a Mazda
- 43:18millennia. Do you remember this?
- 43:19This was going to be what was the what was their luxury brand
- 43:22going to be? And this was the only car that
- 43:24came out and it was wow, God, yeah, I can't remember, but it
- 43:29was supposed to be its own, its own brand.
- 43:31I didn't know that. I well, I didn't know that.
- 43:33I, I knew that. Well, the Mazda Millennia, I
- 43:35know intimately very well. My sister had one and yeah, when
- 43:38she was in high school and I'm like 3 years older than her.
- 43:41Yeah. And so.
- 43:42And it was a really trippy car, right?
- 43:44Like like Atkinson cycle supercharger.
- 43:46Yes. And like Amanti, Amanti.
- 43:48Oh, Amanti, yes, that's right. I do remember that.
- 43:52Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 43:53And yeah. So yeah, it's funny because that
- 43:56is a 90s car, but like, as I was thinking through names, right,
- 44:00we're kind of riffing on name set internally.
- 44:02I just thought of that name. But I, I wanted to represent the
- 44:05era. But like you don't want to be
- 44:07also like, because you know, as you're thinking through this,
- 44:10like you don't want to sort of like pigeon hole yourself.
- 44:12Like and just, you know, let's say that we want to evolve into
- 44:16expanded into 2015, right as things move along.
- 44:19Like I, I was originally thinking like 00, like I really
- 44:23like that visually. And I really like like, you
- 44:26know, it's like the aughts, right?
- 44:27And like that whole thing. And so like calling it 00 would
- 44:31be a cool concept, but then like now you're kind of stuck with
- 44:34that. And so like, all right, well,
- 44:37Y2K, it's like it's kind of everybody uses that.
- 44:39It's already been used. There's shows that use it.
- 44:42And then there's, that's also very much like a turn of the
- 44:45century thing, right? It's like very tied to that time
- 44:48frame. So, you know as we're.
- 44:50Thinking it's gonna crash, you know?
- 44:52And your and your website's gonna crash.
- 44:53Yeah, man, do you? I remember the stickers.
- 44:55Yeah. Like it?
- 44:57Was the whole. Thing yeah, that was that was
- 45:00super funny I remember like as we all did right sitting by her
- 45:03computer at midnight and like nothing happened like I'm here
- 45:08show yeah yeah. Waiting, I mean.
- 45:11Well. All the considerations and
- 45:13predictions and all the preparations and just to have it
- 45:17all amount to a blip. Nothing.
- 45:19Yep, Yep. Yeah, nothing.
- 45:21Got your outfit planned for this weekend?
- 45:23Yeah. So we're actually doing
- 45:25something really fun. Historically, when we first
- 45:28started this, for the first couple of years, we as staff
- 45:32used to all get fully decked out, right?
- 45:34Yeah. And then after like little.
- 45:36But even that second year, we're like, you know what?
- 45:38We're all sweaty running around like, you know, we're it's like,
- 45:41you know, our Prince wig is falling off.
- 45:43And like, you know, it's like, we're just thinking out, like
- 45:46maybe we'll just put on a standard Radwood T-shirt and
- 45:48kind of call it a day and wear a hat.
- 45:50Functional, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 45:52And and by the way, you like what you see go to the merch
- 45:56booth, right? So that sort of thing.
- 45:58But this event for the first time ever, we're all wearing
- 46:03Adidas track suits. So awesome.
- 46:07Yeah, which is pretty sweet. So we're wearing a neon green
- 46:10T-shirt underneath where our brand with Radwood by Haggerty
- 46:13on it. And then we'll we'll be rocking
- 46:15like the Run DM run DMC style. Nice track suit so.
- 46:18Yeah, not quite Heaven's Gate cult, but you know, that's.
- 46:22Yeah. Yeah, yeah, Image you know that
- 46:23you're looking for, Yeah. Although, yeah, although
- 46:27although we you know what, what was that 90s?
- 46:30I think that's Radwood era I. Think it was Y2K right?
- 46:34Or once it was a comet right? Hale, Bop.
- 46:36Or Bobby's Comet. Or Bobby.
- 46:38It's Hale Bop. Yeah.
- 46:40And they were gonna be. It's a ride on the tail.
- 46:42Yeah cuz I mean if it was 90s we should have the bar serve
- 46:46Kool-aid and we can all we could do it.
- 46:50We're just gonna combine all the cults together.
- 46:52Yeah. Yeah, yeah, I think it was.
- 46:54It was late 90s I. Think, OK, OK, there was a lot
- 46:57going on. Yeah, yeah, that was a weird.
- 47:00That was a. Weird to keep track of.
- 47:02So glad things have evened out now right and things are are
- 47:05back to normal but. Yeah, yeah.
- 47:06Things are nothing, nothing weird going on now.
- 47:08Yeah, everything is nothing to. See here.
- 47:10Move along. Well, I hope you guys are gonna
- 47:12do a group picture of all of you in your track suits.
- 47:15Because I we, we have to absolutely.
- 47:18Yeah, yeah, we have, yeah, Yeah, we have.
- 47:22You know, there's plenty of opportunities.
- 47:24I was thinking just like, you know, we have plenty of
- 47:26opportunities to sort of stage that right, with great backdrops
- 47:29and all that. Because so the, the warehouse
- 47:31itself, so where I mentioned, you know, we're pinging over the
- 47:34Hangar One vodka, old Hangar One now it's gold bar whiskey.
- 47:36So that's a new distillery that's taking over.
- 47:39And we partnered with them on this and they're going to have
- 47:41an activation there. There is a rumor, rumors on the
- 47:45Internet, as they say, I can't promise anything that a certain
- 47:50Montana may show up from the 49ers because he is associated
- 47:56with said distillery and he has some limited edition kind of
- 47:59collabs with them and he is very aware of our event.
- 48:02He's a fan and and he may make an appearance.
- 48:06I can't guarantee anything. So that's that's on the table
- 48:09right now. But gold bar is going to have
- 48:11sort of an activation there with their sort of whiskey tasting
- 48:13situation there with some of their whiskeys.
- 48:16And one of them is is 1 of this one of these Joe Montana kind of
- 48:20partner deals and they're they're going to be handing out
- 48:23really cool schwag. They have these little I'm, I'm
- 48:26sort of like agnostic when it comes to idol.
- 48:28I'm not a football guy, but like when I was a kid, I grew up in
- 48:31the Bay Area or close by. Yeah, there were those like
- 48:34classic gold 49ers jackets, the starter jackets.
- 48:38Yeah. And so they're like mini starter
- 48:40jackets, 49ers starter jackets, but that are like koozies, you
- 48:43know, amazing. And they're and they're gonna be
- 48:46handing those out at their booth, which I got a snag a few
- 48:48of those very. Ugly era Exciting.
- 48:51Yeah, awesome. Yeah, well, we're also gonna
- 48:53have a couple, you know, ping pong tables, We're on the
- 48:58street, possibly some air hockey tables.
- 49:00We're gonna have a full lounge there adjacent to the Goodyear
- 49:03Lounge, where we'll have a custom, also some custom
- 49:06beverages that are, you know, sort of throwback, right?
- 49:10Nice. And yeah, so we're just
- 49:12immersive as we do, you know, with with all of it, the music
- 49:14and the fashion and all of that. So of course, we still have our
- 49:17Raddest Dressed Awards. So please come dress the part
- 49:20that's it's a really, really fun presentation that we have.
- 49:23And we have Christy Lee of Overhaul and fame and a bunch of
- 49:27stuff she's worked with us in the past and she's gonna be
- 49:30emceeing that the, the sort of the fashion show piece with us
- 49:33and cool. And we're gonna be doing the,
- 49:35the commentary for the, the, the wheels in motion piece together
- 49:39as well. So those as, as those stars, you
- 49:41know, fly by. And so, yeah, it's, it's gonna
- 49:43be fun, man. I'm, I'm so excited, especially
- 49:45because, you know, you guys know this probably from last time,
- 49:49but I'm, I'm a photographer, you know, hobbyist.
- 49:51And so when we started Radwood, I was super keen on like, all
- 49:54right, this is an opportunity to create cool, a cool environment
- 49:58and curate cars to, to basically be able to shoot them in a, in a
- 50:01cool space and not just all lined up in rows as all car
- 50:04shows are, right. And so this particular setting
- 50:08where where we're talking about not just the flybys, but the
- 50:11cars that are going to be on display, including the build
- 50:14cars, they're set against the San Francisco skyline.
- 50:17So we have the full skyline in the background with the Bay
- 50:20Bridge and the Port of Oakland. So maybe we get some cool ships
- 50:24kind of floating by. And on top of that, it's gonna
- 50:26be golden hour. So it's like perfection for
- 50:30photography. So, so I'm really excited and
- 50:33I'm gonna have my phone, but you know, Larry Chen's gonna be
- 50:35shooting, of course. And we have our all of our
- 50:36photographers on site, but like. Enjoy fucking Montana with his
- 50:40arm around you, I mean. I really, I really, really.
- 50:44Yeah. We'll see.
- 50:44I really, really hope so. Because yes, it's funny.
- 50:48Yeah, there's just a rumor, but like legit like was was brought
- 50:51up by the venue as a possibility a couple of years ago.
- 50:55I don't know if it was 2023 or 2024 at Radwood Norcal, the
- 50:59raddest dressed award went to a guy who was fully decked out in
- 51:03Joe Montana gear for a period, Correct.
- 51:05With the helmet like all day pads everything and it was 80°
- 51:09you. Better win.
- 51:11Yeah, yeah, it was 80° and he walked around like that all day
- 51:14just taking pictures of everyone and and so he 100% won.
- 51:18But he's. Come full circle, you know.
- 51:20And there he goes. Now we get the real deal.
- 51:22So yes, if I do meet Joe, I'll have to show him the pictures of
- 51:26it. And yeah, I mean, but also, you
- 51:29know, going back to that reminder of like, you know, this
- 51:31is the Bradward Darkell. No joke.
- 51:33Like people come out like they, they dressed up, you know, and
- 51:36we've had everything from Cindy Loppers to slash to, you know,
- 51:40not the real ones, but, you know, the the outfits are being
- 51:43who's to say? Yeah.
- 51:44Or maybe they were Incognito, you know, Yeah, yeah.
- 51:46They. Were like, I get that all the
- 51:48time. I look exactly like Cyndi
- 51:49Lockford, so. Weird.
- 51:50Yeah, we do have, you know, we do have celebs that come to our
- 51:53events and they they're great. They just want to be they're
- 51:56just car people or kind of love the air and everything and we
- 51:58leave them alone, right. And they just cruise around.
- 52:00I remember I ride with Socal one year.
- 52:02John Malkovich was like hanging out looking at like one of the
- 52:06weirdest, quirkiest cars we had was.
- 52:08But one of my favorites is Honda City Turbo.
- 52:12You know, the little wide body that has the Moto compo in the
- 52:15back. And that was like his favorite
- 52:19thing. He spent probably half an hour
- 52:20just kind of talking to the owner, like walking around,
- 52:22checking it out, but very Incognito, you know, wearing a
- 52:25beanie and a big jacket, just kind of chilling.
- 52:27So yeah, we love it. That's what's so fun is how many
- 52:30people are car people. And you know, you're not
- 52:34expecting like, oh, there's going to be a movie star here.
- 52:37And so they are. They're just, we're all just car
- 52:39people. Yeah, totally.
- 52:41Yeah, I John, not the tour a car.
- 52:43Yeah, right, right. It's incredible.
- 52:46I love it. Perfect.
- 52:47I I need to ask. I need to ask that question if I
- 52:49see him again. Yeah.
- 52:51Yeah, it's, it's, Well, I mean, I mean, this is sound, this is
- 52:54silly, but I mean, I live in, in Santa Barbara, you know, in
- 52:57South California. So I, I, I see celeb types
- 53:00pretty regularly. And like, and it's literally the
- 53:03same stuff. Like they've got their kids in
- 53:05one hand and then the other one's crying because they wanted
- 53:07the pastry And like, you know, and just, it's, it's in drop is
- 53:10dropping off at school and like at the PTA meetings.
- 53:13It's just, it's, you forget that these are just real people.
- 53:16They have a very high profile job that exposes them to the
- 53:19world, but they they have the same stuff to deal with as
- 53:22everybody. Else, right, Dinner still needs
- 53:24to be on the table, the kids still have to do their homework,
- 53:26all of that. Totally, Yeah, Yeah.
- 53:27Whether or not they have assistance is a whole different
- 53:29story. Yeah, but, but, but it's also,
- 53:32but it's also nice to see that a lot of folks like that are very
- 53:35involved. And, and even when they do have
- 53:36that help, it's that they're doing it themselves and want to
- 53:39be making those decisions. So like going to a car show and
- 53:43just walking around? Yeah, well, it's like, we joke
- 53:46like stars. They're just like us.
- 53:47But in some ways they are. Yep.
- 53:50But cars are the common denominator, and that's the
- 53:52beautiful thing about all this. And you know that better than
- 53:54than any of us. And we want to be respectful of
- 53:57your your time here, Art, because we know you've got a
- 53:59busy few days. I'm doing right now, yeah.
- 54:01I've got another 30 minutes if you guys need.
- 54:03Yeah, OK. Yeah, yeah, All right.
- 54:05What are you driving these days? What's in your garage?
- 54:07Oh man I'm pathetic. I sold everything I'm I'm down
- 54:10to my E30, my K24 swap D30I don't know if that was already
- 54:14built. Last time we spoke was that.
- 54:16Working on it. Oh, maybe, yeah.
- 54:18So that car was in the making for a couple of years.
- 54:21So this is a 1987 BMW 325IS. So it's AUS spec car that I got
- 54:27completely stocked when I when I got it, it was completely
- 54:30original and I basically completely converted it to a
- 54:36Euro specification car. So if you're familiar with E 30s
- 54:40in the 80s, we got something called the diving board bumpers,
- 54:44which were these gigantic bumpers that were mandated
- 54:48because, you know, it was this five mile per hour law and the
- 54:50insurance and blah, blah. And so there were these huge
- 54:53bumpers that had shocks integrated them and they
- 54:55completely changed a lot of cars, right, Not just E 30s This
- 54:58this was a lot of European specification cars that
- 55:01basically had to be built to the spec.
- 55:02And so I converted it to European spec, which means, you
- 55:06know, tighter, smaller, like, you know, Chrome bumpers and
- 55:09different air dam and a bunch of stuff.
- 55:12But, and I then went and basically completely restored
- 55:17the car mechanically. So I like to say that if you
- 55:21were to put it on a rotisserie and flip the car upside down,
- 55:23there isn't a single component that's original or hasn't been
- 55:26touched. It's because I everything has
- 55:29been done to it. Like it has a different drive
- 55:31shaft, different subframe, different diff, different engine
- 55:35and it has a Honda K24 in it. So it is.
- 55:39It is a high revving, little dual overhead Cam naturally
- 55:42aspirated motor. For those who don't know, the
- 55:44car originally came with a 2.5 liter inline 6 that made about
- 55:48170 horsepower. Now it has. 72 I think to be
- 55:51exact. 172 There you go. Oh, wait, is that, is that net
- 55:55or what? Is that her daughter?
- 55:57What? You know, that's gross.
- 55:59Yeah. Yeah, that's right.
- 56:01That's right. That's all the SAE, right?
- 56:03There's all the. Different ones.
- 56:04That's right. Yeah, probably.
- 56:05Yeah. We'll round down because it
- 56:06probably wasn't really making 172, but.
- 56:08Well, definitely not when I, yeah, pulled it out, I'm sure.
- 56:12But call it 172 and now it has a 2.4 liter dual overhead Cam
- 56:18foursome cylinder that in its current guys.
- 56:21So this is what I call like a full bolt on, you know, like
- 56:24it's not like, you know, not a ton of work is about 100 more
- 56:28horsepower. So it's about 275 horsepower the
- 56:31crank at 7800 RPM. So it it red lines at 8300 the
- 56:37way that it's currently set up, you know, it's got big cams in
- 56:40it and all this other stuff, but kind of fun, different gearing,
- 56:44you know, all that. But the the idea here is I will,
- 56:48you know, I'm super into, as I mentioned earlier, agile,
- 56:51nimble, like analog cars, right? And I like Canyon carvers.
- 56:56You know, I started in auto crossing and I grew up when I
- 56:59was even before that, you know, driving up in the Santa Cruz
- 57:02mountains where I grew up, you know, so that's, that's the
- 57:04style of driving that I was around.
- 57:05And your product or your environment, right?
- 57:07I, I was into big high power drag racing stuff.
- 57:10I wanted tight, twisty mountain roads.
- 57:12And that's what I love to do still.
- 57:14And I wanted to basically build myself kind of like an E30M3
- 57:21Sport Evolution and out of the car that I had.
- 57:24And so, you know, it's a white Alpine white, really nice clean
- 57:27example, black interior. And I have owned E30 M threes as
- 57:32well. And so those are pretty anemic
- 57:34as they came from the factory in the way that we got them in the
- 57:36US. So I've driven, I've had the
- 57:39privilege of driving Sport Evo in anger, as they say, you know,
- 57:43in the right environment. And I'm like, OK, like I
- 57:45remember thinking this is what the E30M3 should have always
- 57:48been, right? But like, it took evolutions,
- 57:50right? So that's why it's the EBO.
- 57:53And so, and the EBO is like 255 horsepower, you know, and it's
- 57:57got a ton of different work, right?
- 57:58Like steering rack and crack is different and all this other
- 58:02stuff breaks, blah, blah. So, so I built basically like a
- 58:05better version of that out of my E30 and it's, you know, because
- 58:11the the the K24 motor is all aluminum.
- 58:13It's more modern. You know, this would have been
- 58:15found. The closest thing we got in the
- 58:17US was super random, but it was in the Acura TSX type S that
- 58:22that was so that that that motor came in the in that car as a
- 58:26very detuned very under stress. It was so 2.4 liter 200
- 58:31horsepower and about the same amount of torque at 7000 RPMI
- 58:34think it was, but with just a tune and some breathing mods.
- 58:38You know they they make a ton of power and the people not and
- 58:40people, you know go forced induction on these all the time
- 58:44because they respond really well to that.
- 58:46And I mean you can look this up. People like have you know, 800
- 58:50horsepower, 2.4 liter turbocharged 4 cylinder motors.
- 58:54You know that that out of these things which are insane yeah and
- 58:57quote UN quote reliably right yeah yeah, but but yeah.
- 59:01So I just kind of built this thing for for canning, carving,
- 59:03you know, we go on these Rd. rallies that we put on on the
- 59:05driving wall, awesome side of things.
- 59:06And and I wanted agile, lightweight, and I've had a lot
- 59:11of E 30s in all different configurations.
- 59:14And I wanted to kind of build the ultimate example for this
- 59:17purpose. And so this car, I weighted wet
- 59:21full interior, not a single thing stripped out.
- 59:24I have cocoa mats on this and I have a yeah, custom Mtech.
- 59:29You know, it's a sport evolution tribute.
- 59:31So it's a leather with fabric insert, Mtech fabric insert
- 59:35interiors, a full interior, stereo speakers, 25125 lbs.
- 59:41Wow. And 275 horsepower, so it's
- 59:43pretty fun. That's a fantastic boat where
- 59:45you feel, yeah, that's and it's such a great size, the E30, it's
- 59:49just. It's a good size.
- 59:51Yeah, you. Know I'm not small and I love
- 59:52that size car. It's just with all that
- 59:54visibility, it's just so good. Yeah, yeah, going back to that
- 59:57greenhouse, right, and those thin pillars, pillars and a lot
- 59:59of glass and that it's, yeah, it's, it's great.
- 1:00:02And you know, you sit kind of upright kind of on top of the
- 1:00:04car versus like, you know, a 944, you kind of sit on the
- 1:00:07ground, right, or it's really low.
- 1:00:10But yeah, it's, it's a ton of fun.
- 1:00:12It's unfortunately, I'll, I'll, I'll give you the very abridged
- 1:00:16version. It was hit during car week and
- 1:00:20it was, it was a hit and run situation.
- 1:00:24So it is currently being repaired.
- 1:00:25It's at the shop. And it was a gigantic ordeal
- 1:00:29that I will not get into because as I mentioned, it's all
- 1:00:32European components. And guess what?
- 1:00:34Most of them are obsolete and you have and the ones that exist
- 1:00:39or have been reproduced all exist in Europe.
- 1:00:41And guess what happens when you import stuff from Europe?
- 1:00:45You have all sorts of fun tariffs.
- 1:00:47So yeah, so, so it it's a $12,000 repair for what could
- 1:00:53have been, you know, 5 grand, you know, like use it was they,
- 1:00:57there was someone leaving a park the parking spot next to me in a
- 1:01:01Sprinter van. So basically the front corner
- 1:01:04out on the on the car was backed in and so bumper air dam, you
- 1:01:10know, Valance underneath that that just, you know, this is the
- 1:01:14type of stuff we were dealing with, right?
- 1:01:15The the fog lights on these car on the on the M tech air dam M
- 1:01:19tech one air dam is unique. It's not the standard fog lamp
- 1:01:23that came in the E 30s. So, and this is Euro spec,
- 1:01:26right? So I'm going to do a little
- 1:01:28trivia for you here. SO2 fog lights.
- 1:01:30You can't buy them individually. They don't exist.
- 1:01:32They're obsolete. You you can buy them as a pair
- 1:01:35from BMW Europe right now being really classic I think.
- 1:01:38How much do 2 fog lights cost for an M tech air dam in Europe?
- 1:01:42Are we talking with tariffs or without?
- 1:01:44This is just the without tariffs, just in Europe.
- 1:01:47What do you when you pull up the website what what is the list as
- 1:01:49the price? Back in the day, they were
- 1:01:51probably $1.50, right? And this is pre tax by the way.
- 1:01:55OK, you're going to say like 3 grand or something, aren't you?
- 1:01:58I. Don't know.
- 1:02:01What do you think would say like €499?
- 1:02:05All right, and, and Ryan's still thinking.
- 1:02:08I would say $3000. All right, that's not a bad
- 1:02:12guess because it's close with tariffs and import and shipping.
- 1:02:15It's 1900 dollars, 1900, I'm sorry, €1900 before tax and.
- 1:02:22Two lights. Yeah, and and our and our
- 1:02:24homeboy over here took out the front lower air dam and cracked
- 1:02:27the one of the fog lights. So so it's so I can't replace
- 1:02:31one because they don't exist, right.
- 1:02:33So I had to order two or the shop did, but yeah, so yeah.
- 1:02:38And yeah, the, the bumper too, it's if for folks who, you know,
- 1:02:41if you want to look this up, the European specification metal
- 1:02:44bumper, which is the earlier ones that we didn't get here
- 1:02:46from 1987 and earlier. Those are also a couple grand
- 1:02:50when when you can find them, right?
- 1:02:51So and then like everything is euro though I have Euro
- 1:02:55headlights, euro grills. And I started going down that
- 1:02:57rabbit hole when I'm like, dude, look, and now that I'm
- 1:02:59experiencing this, I went and looked this, you know, I built
- 1:03:02this car from 20 like over the course of years, right, For
- 1:03:05starting in 2020, little by little.
- 1:03:07And I imported all these parts, not all at once, right as I
- 1:03:10found them, as I wanted to spend the money.
- 1:03:13And I went and looked, I'm like, you know what, how much are euro
- 1:03:16girls now? And this is just a little
- 1:03:18plastic insert that you screw in.
- 1:03:20It's like it's just held the screws and I used to go to the
- 1:03:23junkyard, you know, pick-n-pull and get these for 15 bucks, you
- 1:03:25know, like on my E 30s back in the day.
- 1:03:27Put them on the wall right? Like the full grill.
- 1:03:29Exactly. Yeah, totally.
- 1:03:30Or that I have. Yeah, so so the euro spec grills
- 1:03:34and these are the ones for the sides that have a different.
- 1:03:36So this is super nerdy. I'm wasting your time.
- 1:03:38I'm sorry, but it's. Like 30 fans are just.
- 1:03:41It's a different design, you know, like it's the US spec
- 1:03:44ones, you know, the US spec cars had sealed beam headlights,
- 1:03:47which are curved and they they bulge out.
- 1:03:49So the European specification headline grills are flat on top.
- 1:03:53So the US spec ones are cut out for the lenses.
- 1:03:57And so the Euro spec ones are all nice and enclosed and look
- 1:04:00way nicer. And so just the grills are
- 1:04:03$400.00 now, you know, like, so I started looking, I'm like,
- 1:04:06man, I got to really bump my insurance on all this stuff, you
- 1:04:09know, like it's, it's just, yeah.
- 1:04:12He's got you covered, right? Yeah, well, I.
- 1:04:14Mean humbly 30s now are now. You know, it's funny because
- 1:04:17they're you know, a nice clean car is 1520 grand.
- 1:04:20But if you were to build 1 from crash in parts, it's gonna be 50
- 1:04:24grand, right? Because everything is so
- 1:04:25expensive now. Jeez, you.
- 1:04:26Know what sucks about that? It's car week, so presumably the
- 1:04:29person that hit you is a car person.
- 1:04:32Isn't it unbelievable? Yeah, yeah, that's I, I, you
- 1:04:36know, and that's what bought me out the most.
- 1:04:38I'll be, you know, and you can ask anyone, you know, we have
- 1:04:41some friends in common, you know, it's like, I was so pissed
- 1:04:44about that. I, I was like the car thing,
- 1:04:45whatever, you know, like I can get, you know, we'll get the car
- 1:04:48fixed. I have insurance, whatever.
- 1:04:49It's just like the fact that we all have to have insurance and,
- 1:04:52and as an adult, like you just have to own this kind of thing,
- 1:04:55you know, and, and at car week as we're talking about, right?
- 1:04:57Like you'd think that the person who was there would understand
- 1:05:00and like, and that was such a bummer to me.
- 1:05:02Like just from a, like, just from a, you know, humanity kind
- 1:05:05of element, right? Like it's just come on.
- 1:05:07And all the layers of it. Yeah, all the layers of it,
- 1:05:10yeah. And then, you know, at the end
- 1:05:13of the day, I'm like maybe just maybe because it was a sprinter
- 1:05:17van and it was they left early in the morning.
- 1:05:18They were groggy. They didn't even notice.
- 1:05:20But like, I doubt it. I doubt it.
- 1:05:23I mean, like to take off the, I mean, they took it was the
- 1:05:25Fender, the air dam, the bumper that, you know, the whole corner
- 1:05:28was crunched in, you know, and it was, it was, yeah, I'm
- 1:05:31certain that it was a situation where they just didn't, you
- 1:05:34know, it was a radius thing, you know, like they were
- 1:05:36inexperienced and they just kind of took off.
- 1:05:38We know how tight some of those spaces can be, but at the same
- 1:05:41time you're like, it's just, yeah, that's not a especially
- 1:05:44'cause that's, that's so counter to what we all feel is like the
- 1:05:48feeling of car week and sort of the, you know, camaraderie of
- 1:05:51it. That's you're like, oh, this
- 1:05:53doesn't, this doesn't jive. This is bad data.
- 1:05:56Yeah, 100% and like, you know, it's you have a six figure
- 1:05:59sprinter van. I'm sure you have plenty of
- 1:06:01insurance to sort out my car. You know, it's like, yeah, like
- 1:06:05it's not a, you know, ADV 4 Zagato or something that you
- 1:06:08hate, you know, like, or whatever.
- 1:06:10Like I mean, right. So yeah, it was, it was pretty,
- 1:06:12it was pretty crappy. And you know, of course, like
- 1:06:15naturally, you know, then I have to go to work because I'm there
- 1:06:18for work. And like, I'm just trying to
- 1:06:19like focus on that. And, and you just have that hit
- 1:06:22in your stomach, you know, just like having, you know, what's
- 1:06:24gonna be an ordeal. And we are two months later in
- 1:06:27the car. We're still waiting for parts
- 1:06:29and all this stuff, but. Oh, man, anyways, like you said,
- 1:06:32up with the with the Radwood build cars, you know, and them
- 1:06:35trying to button it all up at the end.
- 1:06:37I mean, there's always something with these cars.
- 1:06:39Oh yeah. Like.
- 1:06:40Yeah, absolutely. Intentionally or
- 1:06:41unintentionally, there's always something going on.
- 1:06:44Yeah, yeah. And I mean, I think it, we can
- 1:06:46say this, you know, as, as as friends here.
- 1:06:48And I think the, you know, your audience will appreciate this.
- 1:06:52Larry, you know, Larry Chen is a friend.
- 1:06:53You know, he he calls me and he's like, dude, can I run the
- 1:06:56car in the fly by? So like, dude, you don't want to
- 1:06:58you don't want to come into that.
- 1:06:59Like, yeah, you do. You don't.
- 1:07:01You don't because of what? You just.
- 1:07:04Said them right, but like, yeah. But like, you know, I don't want
- 1:07:08to go out there and promote that.
- 1:07:10And then, you know, some weird thing like, you know, cuz, I
- 1:07:12mean, yeah, he's, I mean, if you go, you got to go see this show.
- 1:07:15Like, yeah, yeah, it's crazy. Like that basically stripped
- 1:07:19down the car to a bare shell and started from scratch.
- 1:07:21So like anything could happen, right?
- 1:07:24So I just said, hey, you know, why don't we maybe let's see,
- 1:07:27we'll look into it. Maybe we'll we'll we'll do a
- 1:07:29little Rev off or something, you know, we'll fire them up and
- 1:07:31they're going to be static. But like, let's not commit to
- 1:07:35doing anything crazy right now because yeah, like anything can
- 1:07:38happen. And then in that situation,
- 1:07:40we're full on. This is the classic, you know,
- 1:07:43rush to build cars, show situation, right Where?
- 1:07:46And this is real. This isn't like I know that some
- 1:07:49of those other shows that will remain unnamed were staged, and
- 1:07:52they were. They were.
- 1:07:54They needed to do an engine swap in two days when they had a
- 1:07:57month. But yeah.
- 1:07:59Right. Yeah.
- 1:07:59No, that's absolutely all accurate.
- 1:08:02Yeah, this is real. Yeah, I know for a fact that it
- 1:08:05was. They had six weeks and that's
- 1:08:06when they started. Which is pretty well that.
- 1:08:08Is why not one aquarium or microwave or?
- 1:08:11Whatever. It's not gonna.
- 1:08:12Shit in the ordeal. Yeah, yeah, no, no screens in
- 1:08:14their headrests. That's around like what it yeah,
- 1:08:16yeah, drivers. Cars.
- 1:08:18Yeah, there was one dude. There was, what was it?
- 1:08:21I can't remember What Car it was, but it was, it was a nurse.
- 1:08:24And they put, Oh no, she wasn't a nurse, She was a radiation
- 1:08:30tech and you know, like a X-ray tech.
- 1:08:33And so they put like a like a CAT scan tube in the back of her
- 1:08:37van or something. It's like, like people like
- 1:08:40she's. Like a far society.
- 1:08:44Like a mobile CAT scan business, but here we are.
- 1:08:48Yeah, waterfalls, right? There were some waterfalls.
- 1:08:50Yes, yes, and the whole time I'm looking at these poor people,
- 1:08:53it's like they just want a car that works.
- 1:08:56You know, some nice rims on there for you to for good
- 1:08:59measure in a stereo book. Oh my God, it was just you could
- 1:09:02just see the the faces of disappointment, the the cringe
- 1:09:05worthy, you know? Oh boy.
- 1:09:07No, I would love to, yeah, I know they do pop up like, or
- 1:09:09not, not recently, but I, I remember over the years they
- 1:09:11would pop up on like Facebook marketplace or something, you
- 1:09:14know, like, and it's just, yeah, like I wonder where all those
- 1:09:17cars are now, because there were some really bizarre things that
- 1:09:20they did with these things. Yeah, one of the minivans blue.
- 1:09:23Was that Peterson for some of the cars and coffees?
- 1:09:25One of the minivans that had the like?
- 1:09:27Wild. The big one, yes, Yeah, I
- 1:09:30remember that one. We actually had it at Believe it
- 1:09:33or not, we had it at Radwood Socal last.
- 1:09:35Year, that makes sense. Yeah, yeah, it was there.
- 1:09:37I totally forgot about that. And the interior was super wild,
- 1:09:40right? Didn't have a chandelier in it
- 1:09:41or something. Yes, I'm sure it did.
- 1:09:44That sounds exactly right. That's awesome.
- 1:09:47That's awesome. Yeah, it was a Dodge Caravan.
- 1:09:49It was like, yeah, it was pink with some crazy wheels.
- 1:09:52It might have been spinners because of.
- 1:09:55Course, probably, yeah. I mean, what else would you put
- 1:09:57on it, right? For sure, yeah, but yeah, so I'm
- 1:10:01sorry on the on the on the car front, I sold I had a the most
- 1:10:04recent car that I sold was my Z3.
- 1:10:06I had AZ 3 coupe and I had AZ 3 in before that, but this one was
- 1:10:11a three liter coupe, which is a pretty cool car.
- 1:10:14They're, you know they're famously the rarest ones, right?
- 1:10:16Because the three liter coupes are pretty rare.
- 1:10:19Better wheels. Too.
- 1:10:20Better wheels. And then I sold my, my R33 GTR,
- 1:10:23I think right around the time that I was on here last time,
- 1:10:26probably right around then. But but yeah, I'm going through
- 1:10:29a reset. I have, you know, Speaking of
- 1:10:31the values of these cars is, you know, I, I literally am holding
- 1:10:35out for like a few cars that I have unchecked for my list
- 1:10:38because I've had 86 cars. I just counted again yesterday.
- 1:10:41Yeah. And so I've had a lot of stuff
- 1:10:44and I've, and a lot of it is going through that, that bucket
- 1:10:47list checklist, right? It's a right.
- 1:10:48I need it. I want the NSX, the 993, the
- 1:10:50E30M3, the all of this stuff. And and so now I'm down to
- 1:10:55Renault Cleo V6, which I was super annoyed point that cars
- 1:10:58and bids was advertising the heck out of that one cuz I'm
- 1:11:00like, shut up. Yeah.
- 1:11:03And now they're now they're 90 grand.
- 1:11:05Yeah. And so F355 is still on my list.
- 1:11:10My my famously the biggest regret in my life is not buying
- 1:11:14one of those. As I mentioned on my podcast,
- 1:11:16yeah, or our podcast, you know, it's I wanted I, I came
- 1:11:19extremely close to buying an F355 GTB manual and the color
- 1:11:26that I wanted and I was 5 grand off and I did not do it and I'm
- 1:11:29so dumb. And now it's twice as much, no?
- 1:11:33More than five grand apart now, yeah.
- 1:11:35Yeah, yeah, that is, I mean, I think I could say with
- 1:11:38confidence that it's the biggest regret of my life.
- 1:11:39Like, I mean, I, I think I'm, you know, I, I have a phenomenal
- 1:11:42family and wife and I've made good, you know, you know,
- 1:11:45choices in academics and all that jazz, you know, but like
- 1:11:49that one, I really. Screwed up, but the F355 the.
- 1:11:52F355I really screwed up on that one.
- 1:11:54Would be a Go 348, yeah. Would you do a 340?
- 1:11:58Eight, I would go 348, but it has to be a 94 because that one
- 1:12:03has the right suspension on it. And that's like, The thing is,
- 1:12:05like the earlier cars are, you know, notorious for being super
- 1:12:08twitchy and like, and I'm all about driving my cars, you know,
- 1:12:11so I would want a 94. I would probably like, ideally I
- 1:12:16would want like a challenge car, which would be awesome, you
- 1:12:18know, so like that, that would be great.
- 1:12:20I do like them, but that would be the move there.
- 1:12:23I want to have 355 because, you know, it was my high school like
- 1:12:26dream car in the and I think it's also one of the best
- 1:12:30sounding cars in history also. And, and they're just so sexy.
- 1:12:34I mean, they're just so pretty. And, and I've had the privilege
- 1:12:36of driving them in all environments, and they're just,
- 1:12:39they're so cool. Yeah, they might not be
- 1:12:41objectively the, the most performant thing in the world,
- 1:12:44but I don't care. You know, it's like, it's all
- 1:12:46about that sense of occasion and like walking up to it and
- 1:12:49hearing it and how it makes you feel.
- 1:12:52And yeah, they're, they're, they're so cool.
- 1:12:54I know. And, and The thing is, the irony
- 1:12:55is that for a long time they were just not worth enough to
- 1:13:00like maintain. So they were because they were
- 1:13:02only 70 grand forever, but the, but they required that big, you
- 1:13:05know, the service engine out service.
- 1:13:07And so, and now it's like, it doesn't matter anymore, right?
- 1:13:10That that, that, so that $25,000 service every few years is
- 1:13:14irrelevant because they're 200 grand.
- 1:13:15So like, and even then that's an exaggeration.
- 1:13:18Like I've studied these cars like intimately at great deep,
- 1:13:23like in great length and detail and like, and they have, I got
- 1:13:26into it with Demiro because he's like, oh, they're unreliable.
- 1:13:29And I'm like, dude, why are they unreliable?
- 1:13:31And he's like, oh, well, this and that.
- 1:13:33And I'm like, yeah, so you put fast speed headers on them.
- 1:13:35Yeah, which eliminates the crack that they don't melt.
- 1:13:39Brass valve guides get replaced with steel ones.
- 1:13:41And that's already probably been done because all of them melted,
- 1:13:43as you said. And you also have the belt
- 1:13:46service, which is also way overblown.
- 1:13:49But nobody knew this. And I didn't care to really say
- 1:13:51it. But the reason that after 355
- 1:13:54timing belt services are super crucial is because people didn't
- 1:13:57drive their cars. And when they would sit there
- 1:13:59and with a very high tension, like, you know, bearing, you
- 1:14:02know, tensioner, you not only deform the belt, but also you
- 1:14:06the bearings like they they overtime they fail, right?
- 1:14:08So like you, the more you drive your car, the, the, the actually
- 1:14:13the, the longer the service life on the timing belt.
- 1:14:16And Ferrari changed it. It used to be 3 years.
- 1:14:18They changed it to five years because initially they kept it
- 1:14:20at 3:00 because they knew people don't drive their cars.
- 1:14:22Yeah. And so, and even then it's
- 1:14:24preventative, right. Like, of course, because it is a
- 1:14:26very high strung motor. But like, you can talk to any
- 1:14:29Ferrari tech, like they'll say, like if you drive your car at
- 1:14:32five years, your timing belt's probably in good shape.
- 1:14:34It's usually the tensioner that fails.
- 1:14:37And even then like it's a, it's a preventative thing.
- 1:14:39So, but there is the while you're in there's right.
- 1:14:42And of course you're dealing with Ferrari pricing on the
- 1:14:44service. And so, I mean, the more you
- 1:14:46look into it, like even now, like it's a 10 to $15,000
- 1:14:49service and it's like call that every five years.
- 1:14:51For Carlin, it's 2000, that's 200 grand.
- 1:14:53I mean I have friends with E46 M threes that pay more than that a
- 1:14:57year. On the road.
- 1:14:59Absolutely so. It's all.
- 1:15:00Relative, totally. But yeah, it's, it's one of
- 1:15:03those things, yeah, sure. The sticky buttons and then
- 1:15:05there's like the weird leather stuff that lives on the dash and
- 1:15:08I don't care, man. That's totally worth it to me.
- 1:15:11And they're the antidote to the overwrought Ferraris.
- 1:15:14Like modern Ferraris, they're just right.
- 1:15:16I went out for coffee with a friend recently, shot at Ryan
- 1:15:18Sapka. And we pulled up to a coffee
- 1:15:20shop and there are two guys there and.
- 1:15:22And I love these cars, but AM GGT right?
- 1:15:25Oh. OK, Yeah.
- 1:15:26Overwrought, you know, again. And these two guys were sitting
- 1:15:30out there with their espressos and they thought they were just
- 1:15:32such hot shit. We rolled up in this 355 and all
- 1:15:36eyes went to the 355. And the looks on the face or,
- 1:15:39you know, it's just they're like, you know, just.
- 1:15:42Yeah, yeah, yeah, it was, yeah. They're.
- 1:15:44They're beautiful. That's what I'm getting at.
- 1:15:46And they're pure and they are an occasion and they sound like
- 1:15:49nothing else. They're like little Italian
- 1:15:51sewing machines. And they're wonderful.
- 1:15:52I just wish I liked it better but.
- 1:15:54Yeah, I, I, I, I, I, I'll admit to this publicly.
- 1:15:58I've never said this to anyone, but the first time I drove one,
- 1:16:02I got to drive it. I, I had it for a week.
- 1:16:04A friend of mine bought it and he used to give me his cars when
- 1:16:07I live in San Francisco, kind of a, you know, one of these great
- 1:16:10privileges that he just had me shake his cars down, right?
- 1:16:14He's like, hey, like, you know, any mechanic, anyone, they're
- 1:16:17going to try to sell me on stuff.
- 1:16:18So here I trust you. Go drive this car.
- 1:16:20Tell me what it needs. So, so I got to drive it.
- 1:16:23I got a lot for that one week and I drove it through the
- 1:16:28Broadway tunnel in San Francisco, allegedly, you know,
- 1:16:33redlining 3 gears. And this is, I don't know how
- 1:16:37long this tunnel is in San Francisco.
- 1:16:39You can look it up, but it is a, it is a, you know, one of these
- 1:16:42old tunnels. I think it was built in the 20s
- 1:16:44and it's all mosaic like ceramic tile on the inside and it has a
- 1:16:47pretty low ceiling. And I, I got teary eyed like
- 1:16:51just because I, I just that sound, I mean, it is so good.
- 1:16:55And The thing is, you can never capture it like in, in, in
- 1:16:59video. Like I, I have the video still
- 1:17:00on my phone and I'll send it to you guys after this call, after
- 1:17:03we, after, not this call, sorry, after the show.
- 1:17:04But like I, I, I'll send you the video.
- 1:17:08It sounds incredible. It sounds amazing, but it's not
- 1:17:10the same. Because when you're sitting
- 1:17:11inside the car, there's these tones, it, it actually changes
- 1:17:15and it evolves and it, and it's, it's this really, really kind of
- 1:17:18trippy experience. And then on top of that, you
- 1:17:20have the induction going as well, which is right behind your
- 1:17:23head. So you have this like, it's like
- 1:17:25this Symphony, you know, of like a beautiful sound and like, it
- 1:17:29was like the most amazing thing and like, you know, obviously at
- 1:17:32being one of my dream cars and the whole thing.
- 1:17:33And it just kind of came together.
- 1:17:35And then I got to drive it in, in my, on my favorite roads in
- 1:17:38the Bay Area. I got to drive it at Sonoma
- 1:17:39Raceway. Like, you know, I, I got to
- 1:17:40drive the car more over time and at Sonoma Raceway was funny
- 1:17:43because we got to do some like laps during Velocity
- 1:17:47Invitational, the first event and, and we had a Radwood
- 1:17:51display there. And so my friend again brought
- 1:17:53this car for our display for the Radwood air display.
- 1:17:55And he's like, Oh, can you please drive my car?
- 1:17:58I've never heard it like at full chat from outside.
- 1:18:01So, and he and he had fab speed headers with a Capristo exhaust.
- 1:18:05And so I'll say this, I don't care.
- 1:18:08You know, I know Ryan, they're good friends of mine at
- 1:18:10velocity. But like, you know, it's it's
- 1:18:12this is like a you know, it's a lead follow, like at a quick
- 1:18:15pace, you know, like a 7/10 lead follow.
- 1:18:17Like they're like, OK, everybody take it easy, you know, like, or
- 1:18:20whatever. So I had a couple people behind
- 1:18:22me and I'm like go around and and so.
- 1:18:27No reason. Like, yeah, so I let people pass
- 1:18:29me after the carousel. And then so I kind of like
- 1:18:31picked it up through the S as I had a friend of mine as a
- 1:18:33passenger, you know, at the time he was like on media.
- 1:18:36And so we're kind of like messing around a little bit.
- 1:18:38And then after the hairpin, which I think is Turn 11, I'm
- 1:18:41like, all right, this is it, dude.
- 1:18:42Full tilt. So like I went full tilt.
- 1:18:45I'm down the front straight, like redline, all the gears.
- 1:18:48I don't remember what it was into Turn 1.
- 1:18:50And like, unfortunately, no one recorded it.
- 1:18:52And like, you know, again, was standing right there and he said
- 1:18:55it was incredible. But like, he didn't, I thought
- 1:18:57he was going to take a video, right.
- 1:18:59We have to take him by the moment, right?
- 1:19:01Yeah, yeah, yeah, right. Yeah.
- 1:19:02He was just like, yeah, he was, he was so stoked.
- 1:19:04But it was awesome because it's such a rare situation where it's
- 1:19:07like someones like here please go beat the crap out of my car,
- 1:19:10right? And show me what it could do
- 1:19:13because I wanna hear it at full tilt.
- 1:19:15And so, and especially a car like that, right?
- 1:19:18But he's that type of guy. He's like one of the most
- 1:19:20hardcore like car enthusiasts I know.
- 1:19:21And he drives the heck out of all of his cars and through him,
- 1:19:26like, you know, us on the DW8 podcast, like we, we, we still
- 1:19:30like, you know, kind of get the cars to shake them down for him.
- 1:19:32And then also, like, you know, it was kind of content for us,
- 1:19:34right? We would talk about him.
- 1:19:35But yeah, he had all sorts of crazy stuff. 73 Rs I got to RIP
- 1:19:39around in you know yeah, You know 5 not 512 BBI.
- 1:19:43He had a 365 GTB 4, which is the one that came before the 512
- 1:19:48BBI, so it's actually more powerful.
- 1:19:50It was the carbureted car, high compression car that we didn't
- 1:19:53get here but looks the same yeah.
- 1:19:56This is just all sorts of wild stuff, all the 96 sport turbos
- 1:19:59and all the stuff you know, but but yeah, good.
- 1:20:01Tax fantastic. It's, you know, I was, I like
- 1:20:04joke, not joke, but like we're so lucky with friends that are
- 1:20:07generous with their keys because the experience that you get to
- 1:20:09have. It's, you know, absolutely.
- 1:20:12Yeah. And I'm the same way, you know,
- 1:20:13like I, I want to stoke people out.
- 1:20:14Like, I mean, you know, 111 of my favorite things ever was when
- 1:20:18I had my R34. So this is a couple of years ago
- 1:20:22at Radwood Socal. I had my R34 skyline, I'm sorry,
- 1:20:25R34 skyline, my R33 skyline. I had a GTRR33 GTR and I had it
- 1:20:31displayed in the warehouse there and, and kind of for the show.
- 1:20:34And there was this kid, he must have been 14, just like kept
- 1:20:38like staring at it and walking around it and all this other
- 1:20:40stuff. And I walk over and I'm talking
- 1:20:42to him and he's like, oh, this is my favorite car.
- 1:20:44You know, it's my dream car. And I'm like, oh, awesome,
- 1:20:47where's your dad? And he's like, he's right there.
- 1:20:49I'm like, okay, I'm gonna give my keys to your dad.
- 1:20:51I'm gonna let him open the car, do whatever you want, like go
- 1:20:54inside, shift in it, take pictures, whatever you want.
- 1:20:58Just don't start it because we're inside this warehouse,
- 1:21:01right? And so he was like so amped.
- 1:21:04He did the whole thing. He was with my car for like 30
- 1:21:06minutes. I saw from afar and he was
- 1:21:07doing, and his dad took pictures of it and everything.
- 1:21:09And last year at Radwood Socal, he came in his own car.
- 1:21:14He drove out there and, and he like, and he was driving now and
- 1:21:18he was telling me how he was inspired by the whole thing.
- 1:21:20And like he's still, he wants an R33 GTR now, you know, and he's
- 1:21:23like working his way towards it and he has like a little side
- 1:21:25gig and he wants to volunteer. And I can't remember if he, I
- 1:21:29think he picked up a 240SX or something, you know, but like,
- 1:21:31sure, this is like, you know, but like, that's what it's all
- 1:21:34about, you know, like that's all, all I care about.
- 1:21:36So Yep, yeah, I mean, it's, and of course, like when we have the
- 1:21:40opportunity, it's not quite throwing keys, but like, I'll do
- 1:21:42that too, right, Of course. And my E30, unfortunately, very
- 1:21:45few people have driven it. But like I, I had told Jason
- 1:21:49Camisa that he had first, first, right, a refusal to drive it and
- 1:21:52do a piece on it. And we just haven't gotten
- 1:21:54around to it 'cause we're, we're buttoning up a couple of things.
- 1:21:56But at this point, yeah, I think I have AI have a wait list of,
- 1:22:00you know, Zach Clapman at the Smoking Tire wants to drive it.
- 1:22:03And what's his name from? He's at the drive.
- 1:22:07He he hit me up by another friend.
- 1:22:09So not Joel. Oh my gosh.
- 1:22:14We can start lifting all the guys at the drive.
- 1:22:16Joel, I think he just left. I think he's, he just went to
- 1:22:19Motor One. Oh, he's always at Buttonwillow.
- 1:22:26That's a good Angela. I probably I know him, but.
- 1:22:28Yeah, I'm sorry. I'm like, yeah, I'm spacing
- 1:22:30right now. But anyways, like I he he heard
- 1:22:32about the car and then reached out to me by another friend of a
- 1:22:36mutual friend of ours and I've interacted with him before
- 1:22:38because they had a back when not the drive, but there was that
- 1:22:45one thing auto I think it was. Was it like auto bibles or
- 1:22:48remember they were trying to? Do that spin off.
- 1:22:50No, no. There was a spin off from the
- 1:22:52drive that they were trying to do like this, basically like
- 1:22:54this, this one like repository of like all of the of the
- 1:23:00manuals and stuff like that. And sure.
- 1:23:03So he came out and and and had an activation at Rywood Norcal.
- 1:23:07So I'm like, you know, But anyways, I apologize, I'm
- 1:23:10spacing. No, no, There's just too much.
- 1:23:11There's just, yeah, too many of us these.
- 1:23:14Yeah, but, but I mean, there's, yeah, there's there's those
- 1:23:16folks, but then there's also the kids, right.
- 1:23:18That I at some point I'll let I'll have to throw keys there.
- 1:23:21Yeah, so cool because it makes. Such an impression.
- 1:23:24Yeah. Who's enthusiastic?
- 1:23:26Yeah, it's funny because we still have people like way above
- 1:23:29us who do that for us, like a Bruce Myer or Tom Horan or you
- 1:23:33know who just. It's like, you know, these
- 1:23:35experiences wouldn't have. And that generosity is
- 1:23:37everything. Yeah.
- 1:23:38A. 100% I'm very, very jealous of Matt Farah because he got to
- 1:23:42drive Bruce Myers Ctr. Yellow Bird and like and that's
- 1:23:47like that. That is one of my favourite cars
- 1:23:48ever, right. So like, and he got to RIP
- 1:23:51around in that thing. So I mean, Bruce is cool.
- 1:23:54You know, I'm gonna, I'm gonna continue to plant seeds and, and
- 1:23:57suggest I'm never gonna be direct about it, but.
- 1:24:01Just a little whisper as to where he thinks of his idea
- 1:24:04that. Yeah, but yeah, let him know
- 1:24:05that I'm super interested. Maybe I won't ask, but yeah,
- 1:24:09he's got some great cars. He he's brought out two Car Star
- 1:24:11shows and one of my favorites is he's got that California Highway
- 1:24:14Patrol notched back Fox body. Yeah, that is, that is super
- 1:24:18nice. But yeah, yeah, awesome.
- 1:24:21Yeah, now we'll keep, you're doing the Lords work, keep it up
- 1:24:24and we're all I know. You've got a hard stop here so
- 1:24:28you know we're all excited. I wish I was closer to the baby
- 1:24:31area cuz I would love to go this weekend but it's gonna be
- 1:24:34incredible. Well.
- 1:24:36Yeah, thank you. Well, hopefully we can do more
- 1:24:38of these things, right. That's the goal is we're sort of
- 1:24:40experimenting with this concept, you know, and we're seeing how
- 1:24:42it all pans out and then we'll determine how many more we can
- 1:24:44do. But the plan is obviously to not
- 1:24:47just have this big flagship California event, you know, to,
- 1:24:49to do more of this kind of thing.
- 1:24:50And you know, it's, it's all in, in, you know, in the works right
- 1:24:55now. We're actually talking through
- 1:24:56that right now and budgets and blah, blah, blah.
- 1:24:58But but I mean, we definitely want to be, you know, out there
- 1:25:01and have more of these more of these fun experiences for folks
- 1:25:04to participate in and, and quite frankly, you know, you're saying
- 1:25:07I'm doing Lord's work. I mean, it's everybody else
- 1:25:09contributing, you know, like everybody else wanting to be
- 1:25:11there and like to bring their cars and like the fact that
- 1:25:14people are stoked about what we're doing is, is such a huge
- 1:25:16element, right. So please continue to do that
- 1:25:18keep supporting us and and we'll keep and we'll we'll hopefully
- 1:25:21come to AI was gonna say a theater near you, but you.
- 1:25:24Know it's enough. Yeah.
- 1:25:27It's a team effort, right? Yeah, it's a group.
- 1:25:30Yeah, right. Now, so remind people where they
- 1:25:32can find the information if they wanna attend, how do they get
