- 0:00Speaker 1: The Force will be with you always. Hello, and welcome
- 0:20Speaker 1: back to another episode of Star Wars Alliance. Of course,
- 0:24Speaker 1: I'm your host, Clay and with me like every single week.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Of course, is Katie, Katie, how you doing?
- 0:31Speaker 2: Hello, guys, I'm doing good. You know, today was ordinary,
- 0:38Speaker 2: which is always scary to say because you never know
- 0:41Speaker 2: what tomorrow brings.
- 0:43Speaker 1: But I totally get that. So for myself, I will
- 0:52Speaker 1: say I have been doing a lot of stuff for
- 0:59Speaker 1: our social media as far as like creating content, planning content.
- 1:04Speaker 1: If you actually go and check right now, you will
- 1:07Speaker 1: see that we have a go live announcement that jumps
- 1:13Speaker 1: on our Blue Sky and our threads and our Instagram,
- 1:18Speaker 1: and I just kind of play with some things are
- 1:20Speaker 1: themes of the Night and everything else. Our main topic,
- 1:23Speaker 1: of course is the High Republic Adventures, Volume four of
- 1:27Speaker 1: Phase three, so that is our main background for our
- 1:34Speaker 1: go live tab or go live announcement on Instagram. I'm
- 1:39Speaker 1: really enjoying it. I'm having a lot of fun with it,
- 1:43Speaker 1: and as I just told Katie before we went live,
- 1:47Speaker 1: I am struggling to wrap my head around all of
- 1:52Speaker 1: the things that we have to read all the time.
- 1:55Speaker 1: And that's mainly because I am also uh deep in
- 2:04Speaker 1: trying to keep a two year old almost three year
- 2:07Speaker 1: old entertained for nine hours of the day, which is
- 2:13Speaker 1: a lot harder when you don't want to just be
- 2:16Speaker 1: that parents that's like, hey, here's the iPad, go have fun,
- 2:19Speaker 1: you know. So it's it's it's a lot of fun.
- 2:26Speaker 1: It's kat you just telling my voice, it's a lot
- 2:29Speaker 1: of fun.
- 2:32Speaker 2: I'm not daycare currently has hand foot in mouth and
- 2:38Speaker 2: going through. So I'm just like waiting because we've already
- 2:43Speaker 2: had handfoot in mouth once this year, but it's apparently
- 2:45Speaker 2: a different strain, so we're about to have that happen
- 2:49Speaker 2: again and I'm gonna have to entertain a toddler.
- 2:56Speaker 1: That's oh yeah, it is. So today we have very little,
- 3:06Speaker 1: very very little news to talk about. There is one
- 3:14Speaker 1: topic that was actually pretty interesting to see on on
- 3:24Speaker 1: the news feed. We haven't really seen a lot of
- 3:28Speaker 1: her in much of anything else, and I think there
- 3:32Speaker 1: is totally a reason why, and it's, you know, she
- 3:36Speaker 1: spells it out for us, and that is Katie Sackoff.
- 3:42Speaker 1: She described these struggles of her life after the Mandalorian
- 3:52Speaker 1: as well as during the Mandalorian. One big thing was
- 3:57Speaker 1: that a lot of the articles basically came down to
- 4:05Speaker 1: saying Katie Sakoff could not relate and connect to her
- 4:12Speaker 1: character of bolk Tam.
- 4:14Speaker 2: And this is where I think the wavelength between Dave
- 4:20Speaker 2: Faloni live action and the wavelength between Dave Faloni animated
- 4:25Speaker 2: is so vast. And I don't know if it's been
- 4:29Speaker 2: Fabreau's influence or what. But on her show, on her podcast,
- 4:35Speaker 2: The Sacoff Show, she was talking to her Battlestar Galactica
- 4:40Speaker 2: co star Tamo Pinnicuet, and I feel like the quote
- 4:46Speaker 2: is super important, she said, I lost all of my
- 4:49Speaker 2: confidence after Mandalorian, all of it. My style of acting
- 4:52Speaker 2: has always just been your first instinct, is the right instinct?
- 4:56Speaker 2: Do that play the reality of the situation. And I've
- 4:59Speaker 2: never really played a character, do you know what I mean.
- 5:01Speaker 2: I've always played two steps removed from myself in a sense.
- 5:05Speaker 2: It always felt grounded in some part of my belly
- 5:08Speaker 2: of who I was. Bocaton is nowhere near who I
- 5:11Speaker 2: am as a human being, her life, what she wants, don't.
- 5:15Speaker 2: I didn't understand her as much as I understood her.
- 5:18Speaker 2: I never felt her in my stomach. I never identified
- 5:20Speaker 2: with her. I didn't know how to find her. She
- 5:24Speaker 2: actually chose not to audition for live action roles for
- 5:28Speaker 2: three years after her role in The man Florian because
- 5:31Speaker 2: her confidence was so lacking. And I actually kind of
- 5:36Speaker 2: got into a little bit of an argument in one
- 5:39Speaker 2: of my local Star Wars group pages where I was
- 5:44Speaker 2: just like, I think this showcases how different the Mandalorian
- 5:50Speaker 2: Bocaton is from who we thought she was in the
- 5:55Speaker 2: Clone Wars and Rebels. And she doesn't specifically say like
- 6:00Speaker 2: Bocaton as a whole or Bokaton for the mental w
- 6:04Speaker 2: but she's that's the assumption here.
- 6:06Speaker 1: And I think that's that's really it. And I'm not
- 6:09Speaker 1: saying uh, nor will I ever say that somebody who's
- 6:15Speaker 1: voicing a animated character can really sever themselves from that character.
- 6:21Speaker 1: It's just as an important of a performance in animation
- 6:26Speaker 1: as it is in live action. I think there was
- 6:32Speaker 1: such a gap in Bocatan's story between Clone Wars Rebels
- 6:42Speaker 1: and then jumping to Mandalorian. Katie Sakoff did not get
- 6:47Speaker 1: to take that journey, yep, And I think that was
- 6:52Speaker 1: a big deal.
- 6:53Speaker 2: And she probably didn't have that journey explained to her
- 6:57Speaker 2: because they're so baranoid about losing something to the audience
- 7:03Speaker 2: before the show ers. Yeah, Like, and you think about
- 7:07Speaker 2: how Deve Faloney was with Mandalorian season seven where he
- 7:12Speaker 2: brought back Oh my gosh, I can't remember his name, sorry,
- 7:19Speaker 2: Clone War season seven where you get into Rebels and
- 7:23Speaker 2: you have Ashley x Stein and you have the Clone
- 7:26Speaker 2: Troopers voice actor guy what is his name?
- 7:31Speaker 1: Uh, Bradley Baker.
- 7:35Speaker 3: De Bradley Baker.
- 7:36Speaker 2: You bring them back and Dave is like, oh, well,
- 7:40Speaker 2: you're going to talk about the Battle of Mandalorian and
- 7:43Speaker 2: Ashley and Deer like what happened at the Battle of Mandalorian,
- 7:47Speaker 2: And Dave's like, hopefully you'll find out, like.
- 7:52Speaker 1: That can you just can't do that? Like what there is?
- 7:58Speaker 1: Because of that, I could totally get where Katie is
- 8:02Speaker 1: coming from or y Kate Sakoff because it is so empty.
- 8:09Speaker 1: You're just trying to at that point, you're literally just
- 8:13Speaker 1: saying words off of paper. You're not getting the feeling
- 8:17Speaker 1: of the character. You're not getting the experience of the character.
- 8:20Speaker 3: Yep.
- 8:21Speaker 1: And you know some people will say, oh, well, people
- 8:24Speaker 1: do that all the time. If you just read a novel,
- 8:26Speaker 1: you're just reading a random book in somebody else's life
- 8:30Speaker 1: and you know, fiction or nonfiction, whatever it may be,
- 8:32Speaker 1: but in that case.
- 8:33Speaker 2: That's your interpretation of what's happening exactly. An actor putting
- 8:38Speaker 2: themselves on screen, whether it's animated or live action, has
- 8:43Speaker 2: to deal with being the representation of that character for
- 8:47Speaker 2: the rest of their life kind of thing. And I
- 8:52Speaker 2: the other thing, I don't think if Katie sack Off
- 8:55Speaker 2: hattn't enjoyed the Clone Wars and Hatton enjoyed Rebels, I
- 8:59Speaker 2: don't think she would have come back for live.
- 9:02Speaker 3: Action Boka time.
- 9:03Speaker 2: We saw Dave Filoni and John Fava recast several people
- 9:08Speaker 2: they like bringing back the voice actors, but sometimes that's
- 9:11Speaker 2: not gonna happen. And I think if she had said no,
- 9:15Speaker 2: I don't want to come back, they would have found
- 9:18Speaker 2: somebody else. So in my opinion, it's a definitive. The
- 9:23Speaker 2: mandalorian is the blame the production, whether it's production or
- 9:28Speaker 2: just in the jump in the character. I don't know
- 9:32Speaker 2: if we'll see Katie Sackoff come back to play Bokaton.
- 9:37Speaker 1: And you know, it's I hate to see that, right
- 9:44Speaker 1: like you hate to see that happen. And I think
- 9:49Speaker 1: that lucasfilm as a whole, especially Dave Filoni. They need
- 10:00Speaker 1: to open up to the world that they're building, because
- 10:13Speaker 1: you know, you have things like, for instance, the big
- 10:16Speaker 1: talk of the town right now on the internet is
- 10:18Speaker 1: brand New Day Spider Man. You have set photos and
- 10:22Speaker 1: set photos and set photos. You have conversations of that
- 10:27Speaker 1: young woman from Stranger Things I don't know. Yes, there's
- 10:33Speaker 1: speculation of who her character is, and there's oh, rumor
- 10:37Speaker 1: says this, rumor says, this rumor says this. There's a
- 10:39Speaker 1: constant conversation, which in turn will lead to some people
- 10:47Speaker 1: getting disappointed because not every rumor is going to be true.
- 10:52Speaker 1: And I think the really silly thing is that Lucasfilm
- 10:56Speaker 1: is afraid to let people down. Yep, what is the problem?
- 11:02Speaker 3: Because you look at like.
- 11:05Speaker 2: At like Avengers Endgame, where the Russo brothers were like, oh,
- 11:08Speaker 2: somebody actually guessed the ending or the start of endgame,
- 11:13Speaker 2: and so we had to completely change things because we
- 11:17Speaker 2: didn't want it guessed.
- 11:18Speaker 3: So what that person doesn't know the right until they came.
- 11:22Speaker 1: To the screen, and it's it's it's so silly and
- 11:26Speaker 1: so dumb. Because what you need to understand Lucasfilm is
- 11:34Speaker 1: you may have billions to your name, millions to your name.
- 11:39Speaker 1: But you do not have the privilege currently of getting
- 11:45Speaker 1: to be picky right now. There is so much expectation
- 11:52Speaker 1: of what's to come with the Ryan gobs On the film,
- 11:56Speaker 1: with the Daisy Ridley film, with the James Mangle film. Yes,
- 12:01Speaker 1: there is a lot of pressure. But guess what, do
- 12:05Speaker 1: you know what's gonna get people excited regardless of what
- 12:08Speaker 1: happens in the movie, if you let people in, if
- 12:11Speaker 1: you get.
- 12:12Speaker 3: Talking about Star Wars.
- 12:14Speaker 1: You talk about the film, you talk, you talk, you talk,
- 12:18Speaker 1: you talk. Now do we need to know the entire film?
- 12:22Speaker 1: No seeds crumbs. This is how people do it.
- 12:26Speaker 2: All right, y'all, We're gonna hit our first ad break
- 12:29Speaker 2: and we will be right back in three two one.
- 12:34Speaker 1: It's very, very simple.
- 12:36Speaker 2: And it's something that I think Star Wars is struggling
- 12:39Speaker 2: to understand. It's struggling to move into that twenty first century.
- 12:43Speaker 2: And I say twenty first century. I've struggled to move
- 12:47Speaker 2: into the social media craze of everything, Like people do
- 12:52Speaker 2: struggle with that, but businesses as a whole can't afford
- 12:55Speaker 2: to do that. And like, any publicity is good publicity,
- 13:02Speaker 2: and the more people talk about Star Wars, the more
- 13:05Speaker 2: people are going to be excited for the film.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Like, honestly, as as somebody who is literally married to
- 13:13Speaker 1: a social media manager, who is who is somebody who
- 13:18Speaker 1: is always on the Internet, I have absorbed that, and
- 13:23Speaker 1: that's why I've taken it upon myself to jump on
- 13:26Speaker 1: the Star Wars Alliance social media and the Ranger Alliance
- 13:31Speaker 1: social media because I am learning these things from my wife. Guys,
- 13:36Speaker 1: there was no better day for social media this week
- 13:43Speaker 1: then yesterday. Yesterday's proposal Yesterday was I'm sorry, I'm just
- 13:52Speaker 1: gonna go ahead and say it. I didn't see anything
- 13:55Speaker 1: from Star Wars the thing. The only thing I saw
- 14:01Speaker 1: was from fan accounts because I posted it in the
- 14:05Speaker 1: Star Wars Alliance Twitter DMS was the oh our English
- 14:10Speaker 1: teacher and gym teacher, and it was Princess Leah and
- 14:15Speaker 1: the Scoundrel the the children's book illustration. I was like,
- 14:18Speaker 1: that's perfect. Somebody literally gave you a layup and Star
- 14:23Speaker 1: Wars didn't take it. Like, I don't want why why.
- 14:29Speaker 2: It's so mind blowing to me because you look at
- 14:32Speaker 2: and like people will talk about the intern that runs
- 14:34Speaker 2: the social media account, the intern that runs the Star
- 14:37Speaker 2: Wars social media account. I feel it goes through waves
- 14:41Speaker 2: and is like, oh, I don't want to get fired.
- 14:43Speaker 2: Oh I'm perfectly fine with getting fired. And I I'm
- 14:46Speaker 2: not saying there's an intern brunning the Star Wars social
- 14:48Speaker 2: media account, by the way, because.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Yes, it started to take it, but it's the terminology. Yeah,
- 14:55Speaker 1: I get it, I understand.
- 14:57Speaker 3: And they're worried about getting fired. They're not worried about
- 14:59Speaker 3: it fired.
- 15:00Speaker 1: And we tell through these.
- 15:01Speaker 2: Waves where there's hype on the Star Wars social media
- 15:04Speaker 2: and then we go through months where there's no hype.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Yeah, And to circle this all back to Kittye Sakoff,
- 15:12Speaker 1: it's the fact that and we've said it this entire time,
- 15:17Speaker 1: but Star Wars needs Lucasfilm, and I think maybe somewhat
- 15:24Speaker 1: even Disney. I think Disney has seen Marvel and the
- 15:30Speaker 1: MCU and they're like, Okay, y'all have free ring to
- 15:33Speaker 1: do whatever you want. Hey, Star Wars. You know there's
- 15:37Speaker 1: some controversy, so you may need to lay back. And
- 15:39Speaker 1: so it might be Disney, but regardless either or hey,
- 15:43Speaker 1: if I was in Lucasfilm, if I was in charge
- 15:47Speaker 1: of social media, and Disney said, hey, tone it down
- 15:50Speaker 1: a little bit. I would turn that shit to eleven.
- 15:53Speaker 1: I'm sorry, like I would say, hey, f this, I'm
- 15:57Speaker 1: probably getting fired for this. But people need to get
- 16:02Speaker 1: hyped for these types of things. And with Katie's character,
- 16:09Speaker 1: with the writing style and people, a lot of people
- 16:11Speaker 1: will hear this and be like, oh, well, that's not
- 16:13Speaker 1: even lucasfilm, that's not Disney, that's all Dave Filoni. We
- 16:17Speaker 1: are not one hundred percent sure on that. We can't
- 16:20Speaker 1: put the soul blame on Dave Filoni. Now would we
- 16:24Speaker 1: like to, probably with the way that the writing went.
- 16:29Speaker 1: But it wasn't just the Mandalorian. Isn't something that's just
- 16:32Speaker 1: Dave Filoni, that's Jon Fabreeau. Also, so we don't know
- 16:37Speaker 1: who's who's fifty, who's forty nine percent, you know, like
- 16:40Speaker 1: don't we don't know all of that. And I think.
- 16:44Speaker 2: Ultimate goal at the end of it is that we
- 16:47Speaker 2: want Lucas to have a little more flexibility in sharing
- 16:51Speaker 2: these storylines with the characters that are known for portraying it. Yeah,
- 16:57Speaker 2: like that's all at the end of the day. You
- 17:00Speaker 2: want Bocaton to come back and be a part of
- 17:04Speaker 2: the Galaxy Far Far away and have her moment in
- 17:07Speaker 2: the spotlight. Well, then share where her character's going at
- 17:11Speaker 2: the end of it instead of surprising them for fan
- 17:16Speaker 2: service moments. Because let's all be real, pretending that you
- 17:20Speaker 2: were acting that you were that Plokun was the rescue
- 17:25Speaker 2: in Mandalorian season two, You're not gonna have the same
- 17:28Speaker 2: result as rescue with Luke Skywalker. Like, and you can say, oh, well,
- 17:34Speaker 2: I didn't want Katie Sakoff or Pedro Pascal fanboying fangirling
- 17:40Speaker 2: over Mark Hamill, but like, also at the same time,
- 17:44Speaker 2: Luke Skywalker is a hero in the Galaxy, he's fanboyd
- 17:48Speaker 2: over regardless.
- 17:50Speaker 1: Well not only that, guys, these are professionals, m Like,
- 17:55Speaker 1: and I get it. Of a lot of people, there's
- 17:57Speaker 1: probably gonna be an argument of oh what about Mark
- 18:00Speaker 1: and Tom Holland and all the people that have you know,
- 18:02Speaker 1: accidentally screwed up things for MCU. Yeah, mistakes happen, but
- 18:07Speaker 1: you can't immediately like, do you know how unprofessional it
- 18:11Speaker 1: is to assume that everybody's gonna fuck up? Like that's
- 18:16Speaker 1: not cool.
- 18:17Speaker 2: Like, So.
- 18:20Speaker 1: All in all, when down to the nitty gritty, the
- 18:25Speaker 1: main lesson learned here is Lucasfilm, Disney Star Wars. If
- 18:33Speaker 1: you have a built in story for said characters and
- 18:41Speaker 1: that story plays a indirect part in a story that
- 18:48Speaker 1: a actor has to play, give that story to that actor.
- 18:55Speaker 1: Because Katie Sakoff would have had probably so much more
- 18:59Speaker 1: confidence in playing those parts. It wouldn't have been as
- 19:03Speaker 1: quote unquote dull or empty or whatever people may have
- 19:09Speaker 1: described that performance to be. I enjoyed her character because
- 19:14Speaker 1: I love her as an actress. So that's just me,
- 19:19Speaker 1: And I know that there was there is a huge
- 19:23Speaker 1: fan base that just is as crazy for Katie Sackoff
- 19:28Speaker 1: as people are for freaking Taylor Swift or Rhea Ripley
- 19:34Speaker 1: and wwe like there's there's like wasn't she saying on
- 19:39Speaker 1: her podcast like right after season three that like people
- 19:42Speaker 1: were saying like, hey, can you sit on my face?
- 19:43Speaker 1: And like all these like really weird things Like it's
- 19:47Speaker 1: just hey, people enjoy people, Okay, uh But yeah, I
- 19:52Speaker 1: just I just think that hopefully this does come out,
- 19:56Speaker 1: and I think it has. I think that there has
- 19:58Speaker 1: been enough noise that this has reached Lucasfilm. Yeah, and
- 20:03Speaker 1: I hope that Dave Felony really sits on this and
- 20:06Speaker 1: it's like, hey, maybe maybe I should change some things,
- 20:11Speaker 1: or Star Wars says, hey, maybe we should change some things.
- 20:14Speaker 2: Because Katie Sakoff is incredible and she's brought a lot
- 20:18Speaker 2: of life to Bokaton making her who she is, and
- 20:23Speaker 2: I would hate to see any other actor take on
- 20:26Speaker 2: the role at this point, just because of what she's
- 20:29Speaker 2: brought to the character and what she has apparently gone
- 20:32Speaker 2: through to give us that character in live action. So
- 20:37Speaker 2: we love you, Katie Sakoff. Hopefully you get your confidence back,
- 20:41Speaker 2: and hopefully seeing this talked about helps give you the
- 20:45Speaker 2: voice that you need to talk to Lucasfilm if there's
- 20:47Speaker 2: anything there.
- 20:48Speaker 1: So yeah.
- 20:51Speaker 2: Uh.
- 20:51Speaker 1: The second piece of news comes from Visions Star Wars
- 20:58Speaker 1: Visions season three. We got the main poster.
- 21:03Speaker 3: I'm presenting it now, there we go.
- 21:11Speaker 1: I think it is interesting that they went with the
- 21:18Speaker 1: rom numeral three compared to the actual number three, because
- 21:23Speaker 1: I believe it was Vision season two. Yeah, it was
- 21:28Speaker 1: actual English number. Uh uh what do you? How do
- 21:34Speaker 1: you feel about this? How do you how do you
- 21:36Speaker 1: feel about this visual? Here?
- 21:38Speaker 2: I do love the poster for the most part. I
- 21:41Speaker 2: love getting to see all the different animations to play
- 21:45Speaker 2: there does look like there's some more standardized animation in
- 21:50Speaker 2: this season, but it looks.
- 21:53Speaker 3: Like there's going to be a lot of bright colors.
- 21:58Speaker 2: And some different opera themes, like these these Stormtroopers here
- 22:05Speaker 2: under the Samurai Jedi, the Duel guy. I do have
- 22:11Speaker 2: one critique here, and this is probably just because I
- 22:17Speaker 2: know that we have three returning characters or three returning
- 22:25Speaker 2: story forms, and we're coming. We have the Duel in
- 22:29Speaker 2: this top left corner. We have the ninth Jedi in
- 22:34Speaker 2: the top right corner h and then we have Village
- 22:39Speaker 2: Bride down here.
- 22:41Speaker 3: In the middle.
- 22:42Speaker 1: Right. Yes, I get.
- 22:47Speaker 2: This guy up here in top middle, and I am
- 22:51Speaker 2: presenting guys. If you're listening, I do apologize, but this
- 22:55Speaker 2: is the poster that's out right now, so you can
- 22:57Speaker 2: go follow along the top middle this Spider guy. Probably
- 23:02Speaker 2: for symmetry reasons and the fact that they wanted his
- 23:06Speaker 2: arms or claws or whatever they are spread out. He
- 23:10Speaker 2: probably needed to be in the middle to not throw
- 23:13Speaker 2: everything else off, and he probably needed to.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Be at the top mm hmm.
- 23:18Speaker 2: But because I know that we have three returning characters,
- 23:21Speaker 2: I want the Village Ride up here in the middle.
- 23:24Speaker 1: At the top at the top. Yeah, I think that
- 23:27Speaker 1: would have been a really nice, uh thematic thing kind
- 23:31Speaker 1: of just saying like, hey, these three paved the way
- 23:36Speaker 1: for you know. I think that would be that would
- 23:40Speaker 1: have been pretty cool. I could also see this like
- 23:43Speaker 1: I think it's like a like you said, a spider,
- 23:45Speaker 1: but it's like a spider stormtrooper like amalgam thing. I
- 23:50Speaker 1: almost think it would have been better if he was
- 23:53Speaker 1: at the very bottom.
- 23:55Speaker 3: Yeah, because kind of like his inner down at the bottom.
- 23:59Speaker 1: Exactly, but also his arms would his arms kind of
- 24:02Speaker 1: would have been like almost like rounding out the circle
- 24:07Speaker 1: of where it says Star Wars visions, which I think
- 24:09Speaker 1: would have been pretty cool. But yeah, I for the
- 24:13Speaker 1: most part, looking at all of these different art styles,
- 24:18Speaker 1: I am liking what I am seeing. I don't know
- 24:23Speaker 1: why in the Village Bride their lightsabers have these like
- 24:32Speaker 1: very weird like almost.
- 24:35Speaker 3: Sorce Field type things.
- 24:37Speaker 1: Yeah, that's surrounding their lightsabers. That didn't happen in the
- 24:43Speaker 1: Village Bride, So I don't know why it's doing it here.
- 24:46Speaker 1: And it may just be like kind of like how
- 24:50Speaker 1: like just light hitting the lightsaber it kind of makes
- 24:54Speaker 1: it look like there's more of an aura around.
- 24:56Speaker 3: Them or whatever.
- 24:57Speaker 2: We're going to go into our second ad break and
- 25:01Speaker 2: we'll be right.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Back, okay, whatever. I have heard some things about this
- 25:10Speaker 1: storm trooper.
- 25:13Speaker 2: Yeah, so this poster came out at anime New York
- 25:17Speaker 2: City Comic Con, and the Stormtrooper one was actually the
- 25:24Speaker 2: main focus.
- 25:27Speaker 1: Which is called Black.
- 25:29Speaker 2: I think yes, And I'm gonna switch my screen real fast.
- 25:36Speaker 2: We're just gonna share the window. So this is off
- 25:40Speaker 2: of the Star Wars news Net article.
- 25:42Speaker 3: Guys.
- 25:44Speaker 2: So this is one of the images from the preview
- 25:47Speaker 2: of Black that was shown at the comic con. So
- 25:52Speaker 2: we've got all of these different eyes and the green
- 25:56Speaker 2: and the red storm Trooper. It's supposed to be very
- 25:59Speaker 2: operatic and kind of focusing on the music.
- 26:06Speaker 1: Also very kind of like psychedelic.
- 26:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:10Speaker 1: I think people who are familiar with anime should get
- 26:15Speaker 1: excited for this because the people involved in making Black
- 26:23Speaker 1: also are credited for critically acclaimed Akira and Spirited Away.
- 26:30Speaker 1: These two films kind of are literal pillars when it
- 26:35Speaker 1: comes to cinematic anime films. So I think this one
- 26:41Speaker 1: is gonna be very very interesting. And I just now
- 26:45Speaker 1: realized literally just looking at the screen while I was
- 26:50Speaker 1: saying that the reflection shows somebody who looks like probably
- 26:57Speaker 1: a Jedi. Oh yeah, so that might actually be somebody
- 27:02Speaker 1: who's undercover, like somebody who's wearing Stormtrooper. Yeah, that's cool,
- 27:08Speaker 1: That is really cool. I literally just noticed that while
- 27:12Speaker 1: I was talking. So I think it's gonna be a
- 27:16Speaker 1: lot of fun, guys. This does come out October twenty ninth.
- 27:22Speaker 1: We are two months out from season three of Visions,
- 27:30Speaker 1: which is going to be super exciting. Now, yeah, we'll.
- 27:34Speaker 2: Probably we'll probably do like an overall thoughts on the thirtieth,
- 27:43Speaker 2: but then we'll go into November and December because it
- 27:47Speaker 2: got a lot in November, but December we'll probably tackle
- 27:51Speaker 2: three shorts at a time, doing like a deeper dive.
- 27:53Speaker 2: Just to kind of give you guys a heads up.
- 27:55Speaker 1: I was gonna say the drop is on a Wednesday,
- 28:00Speaker 1: so it is going to be dropping a day that
- 28:02Speaker 1: we do go live. So it'll be interesting to see if,
- 28:10Speaker 1: or like when they decide to drop it, whether it's
- 28:13Speaker 1: going to be another two am drop or if this
- 28:17Speaker 1: is going to be something that drops at nine pm.
- 28:22Speaker 3: So yeah, that's the big question.
- 28:25Speaker 1: Yeah. So well, because each season so far has been
- 28:28Speaker 1: a two am drop like last year last year's or
- 28:32Speaker 1: not last year's it was two years ago. Sorry. Vision
- 28:36Speaker 1: Season two.
- 28:38Speaker 2: Was a.
- 28:42Speaker 1: It was a two am drop as well, So I
- 28:46Speaker 1: hopefully everything recently has been a like afternoon evening drop recently,
- 28:54Speaker 1: so hopefully they have changed their ways and they're deciding
- 28:57Speaker 1: to drop it. But I there's no way I would
- 29:02Speaker 1: love for them to be a weekly drop. Yeah, if
- 29:06Speaker 1: they had just suddenly and now'ced like, hey, we want
- 29:09Speaker 1: to keep the conversation going, these are going to drop
- 29:12Speaker 1: once a week, I think that would be phenomenal, like honestly,
- 29:18Speaker 1: and some people may be upset for the fact that
- 29:20Speaker 1: like these probably won't warrant a weekly drop, but like
- 29:25Speaker 1: hey podcasters here.
- 29:28Speaker 2: Yeah, even like three at a time would be better.
- 29:33Speaker 2: But I am currently predicting that it's going to be
- 29:38Speaker 2: a two am drop and it's going to be all
- 29:41Speaker 2: nine episodes, So yeah, it is what it is.
- 29:47Speaker 1: Well, well, it all depends because from if my memory
- 29:53Speaker 1: serves me correctly, I think one of the shortest episodes
- 29:58Speaker 1: of Visions is like like what like five minutes long.
- 30:02Speaker 1: It's very short, where whereas the longest one I think
- 30:07Speaker 1: was twenty I was gonna say the ninth Jedi ended
- 30:12Speaker 1: up being somewhere close to thirty minutes long. So you know,
- 30:18Speaker 1: hopefully I want there to be a good amount of
- 30:22Speaker 1: content for people to have these conversations to make it
- 30:26Speaker 1: last a little bit. But I can see them, you know,
- 30:30Speaker 1: kind of dropping them in tears as far as like
- 30:33Speaker 1: the time goes like, I could see, you know, the
- 30:36Speaker 1: duel being a thirty minute one, whereas Black maybe only
- 30:42Speaker 1: ten to fifteen minutes, and then the next one will
- 30:44Speaker 1: be five minutes, and then you know, so on and
- 30:47Speaker 1: so forth. So I can see that happening.
- 30:49Speaker 3: We'll see what happens.
- 30:52Speaker 1: All right. Well, last bit of news. This will be
- 30:58Speaker 1: a very interesting one considering I do not have Audible currently.
- 31:05Speaker 1: Now again I will I for the podcast. I have
- 31:09Speaker 1: no problem, you know, reactivating my Audible account for us
- 31:14Speaker 1: to do this. But there is a new Audible original
- 31:18Speaker 1: coming in October.
- 31:23Speaker 3: Ninth.
- 31:24Speaker 1: Yes, there is a specific date October ninth that is
- 31:26Speaker 1: called Star Wars The Jaws of Jack Who by Cavin Scott.
- 31:33Speaker 3: I am very excited for this.
- 31:36Speaker 2: Don't get me wrong. I do think George Man's audio
- 31:39Speaker 2: dramas have been good. But I do think Calvin Scott's
- 31:43Speaker 2: audio dramas have been my favorite for Star Wars, so
- 31:49Speaker 2: this is exciting. Plus, I know Calvin has always wanted
- 31:52Speaker 2: to write a Ray story, and so I know this
- 31:57Speaker 2: means a lot to him in getting to talk about
- 32:00Speaker 2: and especially with his daughter. So this audio original is
- 32:08Speaker 2: taking place after the Last Jedi and it follows Ray,
- 32:13Speaker 2: who is struggling to let go of her lonely childhood
- 32:16Speaker 2: on the desert planet of Jacu. Hoping to have a
- 32:19Speaker 2: breakthrough in her Jedi training, she returns to her home
- 32:23Speaker 2: world with Finn and BB eight in tow when they
- 32:26Speaker 2: meet a young girl on a dangerous mission to save
- 32:29Speaker 2: her family. They travel through pitch black tunnels beneath the sand,
- 32:33Speaker 2: where they encounter scurrying gnaw jaws, a haunting terror from
- 32:38Speaker 2: the past, and maybe just maybe hope for them all.
- 32:45Speaker 2: There's really not too much to say it on this
- 32:47Speaker 2: is probably gonna be another five hour audio book.
- 32:51Speaker 1: It actually has the time limit right underneath. H oh
- 32:56Speaker 1: it is a three hour and fifty three minute audible original.
- 33:03Speaker 1: This does kind of track with all of the Star
- 33:06Speaker 1: Wars audible originals. They've been anywhere between the three to
- 33:11Speaker 1: six hour mark. I believe the uh the Obi wan
- 33:16Speaker 1: Anakin one was a little bit on the longer side
- 33:20Speaker 1: comparatively to the High Republic ones that we reviewed earlier
- 33:24Speaker 1: this year. But yeah, this one is just rounding up
- 33:29Speaker 1: to four hours. I think that's a good enough story, you.
- 33:35Speaker 2: Know, yeah, especially for a middle grade book, and returning
- 33:40Speaker 2: to Jack, who should be really interesting, especially through a
- 33:44Speaker 2: pair of fresh eyes. The non Jaws in particular are
- 33:50Speaker 2: from the Force Awakens publishing initiative that took place in
- 33:56Speaker 2: twenty sixteen, twenty seventeen, or I think it was twenty fifteen. Actually, okay,
- 34:05Speaker 2: the Star Wars Moves Net doesn't have it, but non
- 34:08Speaker 2: Jaws are a creature from the uh Ray's Survival guide
- 34:15Speaker 2: book by Jason fry So.
- 34:20Speaker 3: Kevin Scott loves his deep cuts.
- 34:24Speaker 1: Yeah, but very nice. Yeah.
- 34:27Speaker 2: So obviously with Clay not having Audible, we'll kind of
- 34:30Speaker 2: play this review by ear guys, but we.
- 34:33Speaker 3: Will let you know when it goes into the pipeline.
- 34:36Speaker 1: Yeah. No, and and honestly, like genuinely if it drops
- 34:40Speaker 1: on October night, that can very easily just set up
- 34:43Speaker 1: a reminder. Hey, October ninth, renew Audible. I listen to it.
- 34:50Speaker 1: We review it I get rid of audible again. And
- 34:54Speaker 1: that's honestly, guys. The reason why I'm doing it is,
- 34:57Speaker 1: for one, Amazon has been kind of scummy as a corporation.
- 35:01Speaker 1: But I'm also saving a lot of money. A lot
- 35:04Speaker 1: of my audio books I am either checking checking out
- 35:12Speaker 1: on libby or personally, because I want to own the
- 35:16Speaker 1: actual audio books that I purchased, I've been purchasing them
- 35:21Speaker 1: off of libro dot FM. So that's genuinely been you know,
- 35:27Speaker 1: my course of action when it comes to audiobooks. But
- 35:31Speaker 1: I believe that is it for our news segments.
- 35:38Speaker 4: Yes, all right, it's time to talk about the High
- 35:44Speaker 4: Republic Adventures Volume four, and we're about to jump into
- 35:48Speaker 4: our third ad y'all.
- 35:51Speaker 3: We promise we'll be right back.
- 35:52Speaker 1: We promise. This does contain the issues fourteen, fifteen, and sixteen,
- 36:04Speaker 1: as well as the Battle of Ariadu. So I did
- 36:10Speaker 1: not read issue seventeen like I thought I was going to,
- 36:16Speaker 1: and it took forever for my digital copy of Battle
- 36:23Speaker 1: of Ariadu to download. For some reason, I attempted to
- 36:26Speaker 1: download it like three different times, and for some reason,
- 36:28Speaker 1: my phone just didn't want to download it. So I
- 36:31Speaker 1: thought I was gonna have to jump into this, you know,
- 36:34Speaker 1: episode with Katie just explaining everything. But thankfully I got
- 36:37Speaker 1: it to download and I read everything earlier today, Katie.
- 36:43Speaker 1: Overall thoughts, how did you feel about this segment of
- 36:47Speaker 1: the High Republic. So?
- 36:53Speaker 3: I really enjoyed these.
- 36:55Speaker 2: It was consistent artwork all except for the Battle Ariada,
- 36:58Speaker 2: which is written by Listen. The rest of so it's
- 37:06Speaker 2: written by Daniel Josey Older for fourteen fifteen sixteen, illustrated
- 37:11Speaker 2: by Harvey Tolabao, Tony Bruno, and Elisa Rumboley, and then
- 37:18Speaker 2: we have colors by Michael Atilla and Dan Jackson and
- 37:23Speaker 2: then lettered by Comic Crafts Tyler Smith and Jimmy Bettencourt.
- 37:34Speaker 2: I'm gonna announciate the company or whatever it is it
- 37:41Speaker 2: again it is.
- 37:42Speaker 1: It is just something that the comic book Space does
- 37:48Speaker 1: every single time, and it just sounds weird when you
- 37:51Speaker 1: don't say it. I'm sorry, but I really enjoyed these
- 37:59Speaker 1: as well. And honestly, guys, because of our conversation UH
- 38:07Speaker 1: two weeks ago in regards to UH the dispatches of
- 38:14Speaker 1: the Occlusion.
- 38:16Speaker 2: Zone coming out next week, Guys, when play goes out
- 38:20Speaker 2: on vacation.
- 38:21Speaker 1: Yes, uh, we actually recorded it a little early. We
- 38:29Speaker 1: spoilers for that conversation. I was not happy with the
- 38:35Speaker 1: portion that had to deal with Driggate and kind of
- 38:38Speaker 1: teasing the ending of Driggate and Gavy's story, and so
- 38:45Speaker 1: I came into this book wanting to hate that story,
- 38:53Speaker 1: and I didn't hate it.
- 38:56Speaker 2: Really did an incredible job with the Battle of Iriatu.
- 39:00Speaker 2: I would be interested because we know there's going to
- 39:04Speaker 2: be an omnibus for the High Republic Adventures Phase three.
- 39:09Speaker 2: I would be extremely interested in getting that and having
- 39:15Speaker 2: all of the High Republic Adventures comics lined up appropriately.
- 39:20Speaker 3: In timeline order, so not.
- 39:23Speaker 2: Having Adventures by Danie jose Older and then we have
- 39:27Speaker 2: the one shots and then we have well.
- 39:30Speaker 1: I would be curious to see how they're going to decide,
- 39:35Speaker 1: like how that is how the layout of that book
- 39:38Speaker 1: is going to be, because I agree, I think that
- 39:43Speaker 1: it only makes sense to put it in timeline order.
- 39:49Speaker 1: And people may think, oh, well, wouldn't that be release order.
- 39:52Speaker 5: No, no, not at all, because guys, you need to understand,
- 39:58Speaker 5: with these types of initiatives, they have to work around
- 40:02Speaker 5: a book release schedule as well.
- 40:04Speaker 1: So because of that comics come out monthly, whereas books
- 40:09Speaker 1: don't come out for like a whole year and a
- 40:11Speaker 1: half or whatever. So there's some things that are gonna
- 40:14Speaker 1: be staggered. There's things that are gonna have to be delayed,
- 40:17Speaker 1: there's things that are gonna come out early. And you're like, hey,
- 40:20Speaker 1: what is this reference to? And then you read the
- 40:22Speaker 1: book and you're like, oh, Okay, now I understand what
- 40:25Speaker 1: that comic was saying. Yeah, So I just I really
- 40:30Speaker 1: do hope that they decide, hey, if people are going
- 40:35Speaker 1: to want to read this entire High Republic initiative, it
- 40:39Speaker 1: may be a little helpful if we lay this out
- 40:42Speaker 1: in a timeline order.
- 40:44Speaker 2: Yeah, because I mean, honestly, I would probably go sell
- 40:49Speaker 2: my trades and pick up the omnibus because that's what
- 40:53Speaker 2: I did for Phase one, because they didn't release a
- 40:57Speaker 2: trade for volume three, so I went ahead and grabbed
- 41:03Speaker 2: the Omnibus and then I sold my trades. So I
- 41:08Speaker 2: would basically do the same thing here because I think
- 41:10Speaker 2: that would benefit the story so much to be all
- 41:15Speaker 2: of the issues in timeline order.
- 41:21Speaker 1: So yeah, yeah, I agree.
- 41:26Speaker 2: I really love the artwork in this. I think Harvey
- 41:30Speaker 2: does an incredible job. The way I picture Zene Maralla
- 41:35Speaker 2: now always has to be how Harvey draws her, like
- 41:40Speaker 2: point blank. There is no ifs, answer butts about it.
- 41:45Speaker 2: Some of the UH covers by fan artists have also
- 41:49Speaker 2: been really good, like the cherryel one. I do love
- 41:52Speaker 2: her in that, but Harvey's zine is the best. I
- 41:57Speaker 2: also finally got curious with the weapon that Lula is holding,
- 42:04Speaker 2: because I did not remember this being explained. I thought
- 42:08Speaker 2: that she all of a sudden had a duel sighted
- 42:12Speaker 2: orange lightsaber staff thing. This is that I did not
- 42:16Speaker 2: realize until the cover. There is no orange on either.
- 42:21Speaker 3: Side of this. This is a.
- 42:25Speaker 1: Vibro staff vibra well, yeah, because it's called a vibra blade,
- 42:31Speaker 1: and then when you have dual bladed, yeah, it is
- 42:34Speaker 1: called a vibro staff. That's right.
- 42:36Speaker 2: And so the orange is the vibro blade happening. And
- 42:39Speaker 2: the weapons that Zeine uses is not the same thing.
- 42:42Speaker 2: It's just electric staff things. I forgot what it was
- 42:46Speaker 2: called already, and I looked it up, of all things,
- 42:50Speaker 2: but I always thought, oh, she's just moved on and
- 42:54Speaker 2: her lightsaber has changed color.
- 42:56Speaker 3: No, that's not the case.
- 42:58Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's kind of misleading, and so a lot
- 43:03Speaker 1: of fans. I was introduced to viral blades and Vibro
- 43:07Speaker 1: staffs in the game of Knights of the Old Republic.
- 43:10Speaker 1: In those games, there is like the way to depict
- 43:16Speaker 1: why vibral blades are able to kind of withstand even
- 43:21Speaker 1: that of an attack of a lightsaber is because it
- 43:24Speaker 1: has like a certain aura around it. And that's what
- 43:27Speaker 1: this orange thing is. So I'm actually gonna show it
- 43:30Speaker 1: on the YouTube. There she is right there, it's kind
- 43:34Speaker 1: of it. And you're right, it is orange. There's like
- 43:37Speaker 1: orange sparks, and so when you first look at it,
- 43:40Speaker 1: you're like, oh, she has an orange lightsaber, but it
- 43:44Speaker 1: is a vibro staff. You are correct, Yeah.
- 43:46Speaker 2: And I don't I don't think in canon currently vibro
- 43:53Speaker 2: weapons can with stand lightsabers.
- 43:56Speaker 3: Just letting you know, I don't think.
- 43:58Speaker 1: Yeah, that's true. That is true. Of course they they
- 44:02Speaker 1: they did that in the video game because it just
- 44:05Speaker 1: would be way too broken of a video game for
- 44:08Speaker 1: the character to be able to just get a lightsaber
- 44:11Speaker 1: and then just like not have anything kind of challenge
- 44:14Speaker 1: that character. Uh, but yeah, in actual canon, vibro blades
- 44:20Speaker 1: and Vibro staffs and anything Vibro cannot withstand lightsabers, gotcha.
- 44:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I do love this splash page. You had held
- 44:30Speaker 2: up the one side on your phone just now. Yeah,
- 44:33Speaker 2: but this splash page where they're crossing the river and
- 44:37Speaker 2: you have the Jedi side with the nie.
- 44:40Speaker 1: I really love the color pop, even even when you
- 44:46Speaker 1: look at my phone, just the way, yeah, just the
- 44:52Speaker 1: way that they were able to really make everything pop here.
- 44:57Speaker 1: Because when I first looked at it, for one, the
- 45:01Speaker 1: very first thing that my eyes gravitate towards is of
- 45:04Speaker 1: course every single lightsaber the I immediately start looking at
- 45:10Speaker 1: the hilts. But I love the ocean. I love the
- 45:13Speaker 1: blue of the ocean. I think it really pops. It
- 45:15Speaker 1: really does stand as like a literal separation piece for
- 45:22Speaker 1: the splash page, which is really really fun. But yeah,
- 45:26Speaker 1: really great colors. I love the art in this book.
- 45:30Speaker 2: And this should be our final ad break. So y'all
- 45:34Speaker 2: thanks for bearing with us. We appreciate y'all. We'll be
- 45:37Speaker 2: right back. It really is superb. The other thing that
- 45:43Speaker 2: I enjoyed in this was getting to learn more about
- 45:45Speaker 2: how the Warden joined up with General Wise and just
- 45:51Speaker 2: kind of getting more exposure to his character. What did
- 45:56Speaker 2: you think about.
- 45:56Speaker 1: That, I hate the warden. I hate the word he is, like, honestly,
- 46:04Speaker 1: he is. Ever since he's been introduced, he's kind of
- 46:08Speaker 1: just been like I've had this type of feeling that
- 46:13Speaker 1: he is just the annoying villain that will eventually get
- 46:18Speaker 1: his come uppings, right yep, And that's really all he's
- 46:22Speaker 1: really been good at playing in every story that he's
- 46:26Speaker 1: been a part of so far. And I did enjoy
- 46:32Speaker 1: that as well. I love the kind of background. I
- 46:36Speaker 1: know we're not gonna get too much more because again,
- 46:39Speaker 1: like for the most part.
- 46:41Speaker 3: We have one more volume left.
- 46:43Speaker 1: High Republic has ended. But I do like how they
- 46:49Speaker 1: are able to connect those dots because you're not just
- 46:56Speaker 1: gonna be Marcian wrote, and just trust some random o body,
- 47:01Speaker 1: yeah to lead a portion of your galactic takeover, you know.
- 47:08Speaker 1: So to have those connections I think is very very fun,
- 47:14Speaker 1: very smart. But yeah, I enjoyed his parts. I also
- 47:23Speaker 1: again wanted to hate Driggott's parts. I wanted to because
- 47:28Speaker 1: because of course just the way that I read them.
- 47:31Speaker 1: I read it fourteen fifteen sixteen, and then I read
- 47:33Speaker 1: Battle Viriatu.
- 47:35Speaker 3: Yep, so that's how I read it as well.
- 47:37Speaker 1: So like reading hers. I'm just reminded of our conversation
- 47:41Speaker 1: from two weeks ago. I'm like, they're not gonna They're
- 47:45Speaker 1: not gonna give me the proper ending that I want.
- 47:49Speaker 1: I'm gonna hate this, like, uh, you know, I I
- 47:52Speaker 1: I know what her character is gonna end up doing
- 47:55Speaker 1: and blah blah blah whatever. Uh but no, I just
- 48:00Speaker 1: I really enjoyed it.
- 48:01Speaker 2: I think Driggate was originally Alyssa Long's character, so jose
- 48:07Speaker 2: Older wanted to give a list of.
- 48:09Speaker 3: The chance to finish Drigate story off.
- 48:11Speaker 2: Yeah, Daniel as always does an incredible job with his writing.
- 48:18Speaker 1: I really do.
- 48:19Speaker 2: Love the story here and the dread that you feel
- 48:23Speaker 2: as everything goes on. I love the moment where the
- 48:28Speaker 2: Republic Armada comes through right at the end. So I'm
- 48:33Speaker 2: looking forward to seeing how volume five really finishes it off,
- 48:38Speaker 2: because clearly the Ward has one last attack under his sleeve,
- 48:44Speaker 2: and so we'll get that there well.
- 48:48Speaker 1: And I do want to ask you because they are
- 48:54Speaker 1: playing a really, you know, kind of ominous feeling with
- 48:59Speaker 1: this and I I do think we are going to
- 49:02Speaker 1: get some closure on this last volume. Master for Azala,
- 49:08Speaker 1: how did you like Farzala's like existential dread throughout this entire.
- 49:16Speaker 2: I did enjoy it because I felt like he's really
- 49:21Speaker 2: grown as a character, and I appreciate that Daniel has
- 49:24Speaker 2: not left him behind like some of the other characters
- 49:28Speaker 2: from Phase one have happened. I also like the Master
- 49:34Speaker 2: or oh gosh, it's the Tentacle guy.
- 49:40Speaker 1: Yes, it was in the very beginning attuck of issue fourteen.
- 49:46Speaker 1: Yeah was it fourteen? Yeah?
- 49:52Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, well or Brittuck.
- 49:56Speaker 2: I loved that little moment with young Farzala in the
- 50:00Speaker 2: ants of the Plate and that.
- 50:01Speaker 3: How like you always need to keep moving.
- 50:04Speaker 2: I do think that's super important in a fighting style,
- 50:10Speaker 2: so getting that exposure to him was super cool. Farzala
- 50:15Speaker 2: is definitely interesting. I do want to see more of him,
- 50:23Speaker 2: and I do think that Lula and Zine kind of
- 50:28Speaker 2: got sidelined for him, just simply because they Daniel wanted
- 50:34Speaker 2: to focus on a Jedi story.
- 50:36Speaker 1: Yes, but to be fair, they just got done a
- 50:41Speaker 1: big arc for the most part, I think their story
- 50:45Speaker 1: is over really, yes, and no, I still think there
- 50:52Speaker 1: is a lot to kind of like, there's like maybe
- 50:59Speaker 1: one or two loose ends for them. Yeah, but I
- 51:03Speaker 1: think their story was their love story and so for
- 51:08Speaker 1: them to be married and they're like, Okay, let's go
- 51:11Speaker 1: save the universe together. You know, I think that within
- 51:16Speaker 1: itself is kind of like their happy ending. I'm not
- 51:20Speaker 1: saying that their happy ending, can't you know, just abruptly end.
- 51:25Speaker 3: Right I.
- 51:29Speaker 2: And I guess this comes from my book sense of you.
- 51:33Speaker 2: If you put two characters in the main focus.
- 51:39Speaker 1: You should have them. Yea, they I totally, I totally
- 51:43Speaker 1: get it. I get it.
- 51:44Speaker 2: It's also I do know with comments you have, like
- 51:47Speaker 2: other covers and whatnot, But to me, the trade you
- 51:51Speaker 2: picked the one that represents the story of the best.
- 51:54Speaker 3: Yoda's not even in this story? Why?
- 51:57Speaker 1: And so here's here's here's the thing, Katie. One thing
- 52:02Speaker 1: that for the most part, comics have stopped doing this
- 52:07Speaker 1: because there was such a harsh backlash. There used to
- 52:17Speaker 1: be a time where publishers would literally put characters that
- 52:22Speaker 1: they knew would catch people's eyes. They would purposely put
- 52:28Speaker 1: those characters on the cover, or they would put a
- 52:31Speaker 1: really dramatic scene happening on the cover and people would
- 52:35Speaker 1: be like, oh crap, Batman's getting his head chopped off.
- 52:40Speaker 1: Why is that happening? And then you'd grab the book
- 52:43Speaker 1: and there would be nothing related to the cover. So
- 52:47Speaker 1: that used to be a really popular thing to do
- 52:49Speaker 1: in comics. They don't do it very much anymore because
- 52:55Speaker 1: back in I want to say, like twenty nineteen, twenty twenty,
- 53:00Speaker 1: Brian Michael Bindis, who famously helped co create Miles Morales,
- 53:06Speaker 1: he helped co create Ironheart, like he helped create a
- 53:10Speaker 1: lot of characters in Marvel. He left Marvel went to DC.
- 53:16Speaker 1: A lot of people did not like his writing style
- 53:19Speaker 1: for DC characters, and I was one of them. I
- 53:24Speaker 1: did not like his style for the DC universe, but
- 53:29Speaker 1: his books were tanking. Nobody was reading them, and so
- 53:34Speaker 1: there was like a string of like five books Katie
- 53:38Speaker 1: that covers were just absolutely ridiculous, and people were like,
- 53:43Speaker 1: oh my gosh, what's happening in this book? And it
- 53:47Speaker 1: was it was you might as well have put a
- 53:51Speaker 1: Powerpuff Girls cover on like a freaking Etrican the Demon
- 54:01Speaker 1: comic like it would have. It was like totally black
- 54:05Speaker 1: and white, and so people were so confused, they were furious.
- 54:09Speaker 1: They and so DC and other publishers stopped doing that.
- 54:15Speaker 1: They really stopped, so honestly, to see it on this cover,
- 54:20Speaker 1: I was a little surprised because Zeane was kind of
- 54:24Speaker 1: in the background. Yoda was literally nowhere in this comic whatsoever.
- 54:30Speaker 1: YadA was the only one that appeared. So yeah, I agree.
- 54:34Speaker 1: I understand the concept of oh, I'm gonna judge a
- 54:38Speaker 1: book by its cover. I like these characters, I'm gonna
- 54:41Speaker 1: grab it for these characters, and then you read it
- 54:44Speaker 1: and you're like, hey, where were these characters?
- 54:46Speaker 2: Yep, And this is like they're very like traditional outfits
- 54:50Speaker 2: from earlier in the series two because the whole fourteen,
- 54:55Speaker 2: fifteen and sixteen they're in their wedding dresses.
- 54:58Speaker 1: I love that, by the way, I love you ze
- 55:01Speaker 1: Zine in that blue like bluish Teale dress kicking ass,
- 55:07Speaker 1: by the way, absolutely love it. Gorgeous. But I love
- 55:13Speaker 1: the consistency. I love that these editors were not lazy
- 55:20Speaker 1: and they're not like, oh, just put these characters in whatever.
- 55:23Speaker 1: They're like, hey, they just got off of their web,
- 55:25Speaker 1: they just left their wedding, so they have to be
- 55:28Speaker 1: in these dresses. I love that absolutely, Or.
- 55:32Speaker 2: If you were to, if they were to have changed,
- 55:34Speaker 2: they definitely needed to have a scene like okay, let's
- 55:37Speaker 2: get ready for battle.
- 55:38Speaker 3: But like, yeah, I didn't do that. I love the
- 55:43Speaker 3: dresses element because it gives it.
- 55:46Speaker 2: Like and don't get me wrong, I think there's plenty
- 55:48Speaker 2: of femininity in these comics, but it just gives it
- 55:53Speaker 2: that extra air like, Hey, I'm a girl, I'm gonna dress, I'm.
- 55:56Speaker 1: Gonna heels, and I'm still gonna kick ass, you know
- 56:00Speaker 1: I I yeah, I love it, especially when they made
- 56:03Speaker 1: it such a big deal in that splash page of
- 56:06Speaker 1: I believe it was issue thirteen or it was the
- 56:09Speaker 1: wedding issue, one of the two where they're like, Okay,
- 56:14Speaker 1: Wedding's over, let's go fight, and like the whole splash
- 56:17Speaker 1: page is everybody from the wedding like with their weapons
- 56:20Speaker 1: and they're like taking charge towards uh uh or like
- 56:26Speaker 1: yeah exactly. So like I I love the consistency. I
- 56:29Speaker 1: think it's really really fun. It's great. So yeah, I
- 56:34Speaker 1: I have really been enjoying this, trying to think of
- 56:39Speaker 1: there's any character before we get to the battle, they eond,
- 56:43Speaker 1: did you.
- 56:43Speaker 2: See sinoubebe uh from the yes?
- 56:51Speaker 1: Yes, yes, yes, hold on yes, this is what I
- 56:54Speaker 1: wanted to bring up. Hold on, hold on, So okay,
- 56:58Speaker 1: and I love that it's literally three panels Okay, you
- 57:02Speaker 1: don't see him for the rest of the book, but
- 57:05Speaker 1: the jaw dropping moment of his reveal and then the
- 57:11Speaker 1: very next panel you see him in he's just like, oh, yeah,
- 57:15Speaker 1: so I was undercover. How about you, young padawan, and
- 57:21Speaker 1: then like something like explodes and then like it moved,
- 57:24Speaker 1: like the scene just changes, like you don't get any
- 57:27Speaker 1: explanation whatsoever, like, and that's kind of why I wanted
- 57:31Speaker 1: to be like, what the hell like?
- 57:34Speaker 3: So Sinube was SAB's master.
- 57:38Speaker 2: Yes, so he does a lot of appearances in the
- 57:42Speaker 2: High Republic Adventures Face two.
- 57:45Speaker 3: He's in like seven issues there. I don't remember him.
- 57:50Speaker 1: God damn. He's just as old as freaking Yoda yep
- 57:55Speaker 1: until he gets you know, rip like that serious.
- 58:00Speaker 2: Yeah, and this should be our final ad break. So
- 58:04Speaker 2: y'all thanks for bearing with us. We appreciate y'all. We'll
- 58:07Speaker 2: be right back. So yeah, I was like, wait, Sydney
- 58:11Speaker 2: Bays here. I had to go back to Wikipedia and
- 58:13Speaker 2: go wait, where did we know he was alive? This
- 58:18Speaker 2: is like the big thing with going back and forth
- 58:21Speaker 2: between so many things is like you forget about these characters.
- 58:24Speaker 2: So I don't hate Sanubab being here now, I kind
- 58:29Speaker 2: of went In Emeric and Sinewbae side comic because they're
- 58:36Speaker 2: both Jedi investigators. Yeah.
- 58:40Speaker 1: I And the thing is, you cannot This is Lucas
- 58:46Speaker 1: Phil Marvel, whoever is in charge of of the overarching
- 58:53Speaker 1: stories of these characters. We are introduced to the carearacter
- 59:00Speaker 1: of Yoda in a New Hope, and then Empire strikes back.
- 59:06Speaker 1: He dies, and we learn that he's like nearly a
- 59:11Speaker 1: thousand years old, okay, and so you're like, holy crap,
- 59:14Speaker 1: this dude has lived for a very long time. And
- 59:17Speaker 1: ever since then, we have learned that there's more and
- 59:21Speaker 1: more characters and alien species within the Star Wars galaxy
- 59:26Speaker 1: that can live just as long. Look at me, look
- 59:30Speaker 1: at me, got Filoni Favra, whoever, whoever, whoever found this podcast,
- 59:35Speaker 1: look at me right now. I need more of these stories, okay,
- 59:40Speaker 1: and I want actual concrete stories. Okay, sonoube like he
- 59:46Speaker 1: just like appeared. I need like I need like an arc.
- 59:51Speaker 1: I need like you know, we we we've teased and
- 59:57Speaker 1: we've and we've made fun of like, oh, we're eventually
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: going to get that you know, young Jedi night Yoda,
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: you know comic. Eventually, somebody's gonna be brave enough to
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: pitch it, and they're gonna let him do it. If
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: you're not gonna be brave enough to publish a young
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: Yoda comic, then you need to do it with these
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: other characters that are just as old. Yep. Like, I
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: think it's only fair like to because because you know
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: what you oh my gosh, you can do that. And
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: then like you have young Snube as a padawan and
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: guess who his best friend is, Yoda, but he's only
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: in a small appearance. You see him in the background
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: training with him, and you have him mentioned oh yeah,
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: you know, you know, me and Yoda were hanging out,
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: you know, in the in the library and in the archives,
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: blah blah blah, and people are like, oh my god,
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: young Yoda, you know. So like I think it needs
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: to happen legitimately. I was so pumped when I saw
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: him in this book, like I was, and it was
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: just like a like I said, three panels, it was
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: literally three panels, and then they just threw it away,
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: you know, And I'm just lingering here, like.
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: It is definitely an easter egg for what's to come,
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: or like a policement where they can go back in
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: five years and go, you know what, I'm gonna rape
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: the story of how Snoope got in those drill ships. Yeah, oh,
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: the other thing that I had an issue with in
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: this one. So they are still going on about the
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: volcano that we find out about and dispatches and what's
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: her name? Severn Tarkan says, hey, I really need a
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: Jedi to go fix.
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: It, and.
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: She's like, oh, here it is. Okay, it's this one
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: right in the right in the beginning.
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: This, yeah, and.
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: A court goes and we need a team to stay here.
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: In brief, frank, uh, there's an urgent mechanical situation that
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: needs attending. If only Ram was here. Where is Ram
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: because wasn't he at the wedding?
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: So yes, But if you go to the back of
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: the book and go into the battle, Ariadu Gavy explains
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: where everybody is. So currently at this point in time,
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: Ram is with uh Zene. Wait, what the hell he
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: should be there? Because he literally says Ram is with
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: Zene and Lula, Yeah, And that doesn't make sense.
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: And I think it was just.
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: A way of going, Okay, we really don't want in.
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: Like to fix the mechanical situation with I think so.
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: I think because it could have very easily Like it is,
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: they're setting up a challenge for themselves there there. It's
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: literally the plot is the reason why Ram is not there,
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: like that is the only reason is because the plot
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: cannot have him there.
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: I need to pull up the wedding is God.
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: Okay, volume three? So okay, here's the big giant splash page.
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: Yes, the very next page, you should see him. If
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: it's not. If it's not the very next page, then
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: it was the page before, like before they actually like
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: had the ceremony. I am pretty sure Lula and Zeene
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: are talking to Ram well be yeah, because.
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: He's the one who brought Gaviy.
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, you continue, because I'm gonna find this.
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: But yeah, I I I thought because literally I just said,
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: I genuinely thought that they had him go somewhere else.
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: And that's why Gaby was like, oh and you know,
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: I still feel connected to all of my friends because
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: this is how I, you know, see the force and
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: everything else. Right. Yeah, but yeah, the fact that Ram
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: is not there is literally just for the sake of hey,
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: we can't have this problem fixed in three panels, so
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: we have to just kind of erase ramp for a second.
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: So there's the pirate granddaughter, and there's Gabby.
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: Yes, oh, because also in the dispatches from the Eclusion Zone,
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: Ram is also there. Yeah, he is? Is he's there?
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: Uh so I unfortunately continuity errors, guys, it happens from
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: time to time.
- 1:06:11Speaker 3: Okay, so yes, it is a continuity issue. So okay.
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: So here's Gabby where he comes into contact with Lula
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: and and I think Zine says Vallo, where's Ram is he?
- 1:06:30Speaker 3: Okay? Uh?
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: He got called away on an urgent mission after helping
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: us liberate Valo again. But he sent me and the
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: pirates here to warn you that the ward is on
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: his way back. So where's Ram?
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: Because he wasn't in Trials of the Jedi.
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: Ram again, from what I can remember, he was with
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: Zeene or not Zene? Sorry? Who is the uh? Uh?
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: The the uh Gabby? No, uh Zile? Sorry, I knew
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: it was with.
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: Zile, the granddaughter pirate.
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: Yes. Yes, the last time we saw Ram was with Zile,
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: and that was in the dispatches of the Occlusion Zone
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: in Eriodu City. Like it is, it is literally all there.
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: Katie just ran to her shelf to grab dispatches. Uh,
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: just to confirm, just read this one.
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: Okay, So there's Court and there's Ram with Yep. Court
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: is basically reporting on everybody's movements.
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: Yep, like it is. It's simply just that unfortunately they
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: did they did not write a scenario where Ram had
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: to leave. They just forgot that he was there, or
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: they quote unquote forgot he was there.
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: Okay, So there's issue too with Driggett. And he's not
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: in this one. He's not going to be in the
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: emeric one. No, Rams, that's the only part Ram is in.
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: This and that one panel. Yeah, that can't be trip.
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: That is true.
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: I'm telling you, I have no idea that I don't
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: know why.
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: So Wikipedia has him in the Battle of the Aria.
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: It is a vision to Gabby. Yeah, he's in fourteen
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: and fifteen as imagination like imaginative appearance.
- 1:09:07Speaker 3: He's in seventeen, which is not in this one.
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: It's in the next volume, and then he's in nineteen
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: and twenty.
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: So maybe we'll learn what happens to Ban next time.
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: All right, we'll just have to wait and see.
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: Sorry, guys, that was a ginormous detour. But I was like,
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: who the fuck is ramped.
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: But uh, other other than that, I think that the
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: only place to go forward in this conversation is the
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: Battle of Riado. Gabby, drink it rue. As I said
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: in the very beginning of this review, I genuinely wanted
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: to kind of hate this ending for Gavy and drigg
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: it because I didn't feel satisfied with the build up
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: to what this will eventually be. Yep, I like it.
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: Even in the very first few pages, I was like,
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: I don't like it. I don't like like, this doesn't
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: make any sense, blah blah, oh here's ja well. Uh
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: like I was kind of mocking it, And then as
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: I was ready to get I was like, God, damn it,
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: this is so good. I I and maybe to to
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: the freaking talent that is Alyssa Long, I think she
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: has a great voice for for Driggate. They sorry, I
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: think I think they have a great voice for Driggate.
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: We did not like we we knew, but we didn't know,
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: and it was kind of convoluted with Driggate story and
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: what they really wanted from going to the Dark Side
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: to going with the night Hill. Right. We learned in
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: Escape from Valow that she betrayed her friends, and that
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: even then it presented it as like I'm only doing
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: this because I hate the Night Hill, and You're like, Okay,
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: what the hell does that even mean? And so we
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: were like, Okay, we're on board with this, let's learn
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: more about it. And unfortunately, just with the way our
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: schedules have lined up with the release schedules of these books,
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: we haven't been able to really catch up on that
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: until now, and so we really did feel like, hey, like,
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: there's not much here. How are they really gonna end
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: this story between Drink and Gavy to feel fulfilled? And
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: literally within like three pages of the back and forth
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: of like you see drigg It and then you see Gabby,
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: and then you see drigg It and then you see Gavvy,
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: and then eventually there's that one page where they're literally
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: face to face. I like, I wanted to throw my
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: phone because I was so angry at how much I
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: liked it. I love the contrasting colors, the the way
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: that drigg It is thinking of like, oh, like you
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: can feel it in the pages of like she can
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: finally let go, She's finally gonna get rid of this,
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: She's getting her revenge, like, yeah, it feels so good,
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: and then like at the same time, you're like Gavvy no,
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: like don't do this, like you're only gonna get hurt again.
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: I it's just so good.
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: It was so good, and this should be our final
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: ad break. So y'all thanks for bearing with us. We
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: appreciate y'all. We'll be right back. Yeah, And I go
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: back and forth on if I really needed that much
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: preview to how their relationship was on Valo. But in
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: the grand scheme of things, I really think it limited
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: itself well to the comic format to Yeah, especially with
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: like them like trading outfits and like drigg it following
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: along to Jedi practices and stuff like. It really worked well.
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: Alyssa did an incredible job. The colors by Dan Jackson
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: are superb, and I love how consistent Alisa Rumpoley's artwork is,
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: Like I feel like it flows very well with the
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: previous issues, but I also feel like it stands on
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: its own as uh there are and everything. So I
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: really give props to that, because it's hard to blend
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: in your own artwork and make it feel like it
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: belongs in somebody else's series.
- 1:14:11Speaker 3: So superb work all around.
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: Really like this right here, it's so goddamn good. I'm sorry.
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: The way that they played with Gavy's connection to the
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: force these brings, the threads, and how he's like holding
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: on to it because he doesn't want to let go
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: of drigg it, and like he's just running towards it
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: and running towards it and running towards it. Absolutely love it.
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: I really love there is the again, remind me who
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: the the colorist is on this book, Dan Jackson, Dan Jackson.
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: There is just an amazing work with shadows on this,
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: with the brightness of the lightsaber to the brightness of
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: the explosions, to the blaster shots. Like everything everything pops,
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: there's a shadow wherever there needs to be a shadow.
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: It is so good. The shading is so good here.
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: I really love, like I said, the page that I
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: just showed. It's the page where they are hugging Driggets crying.
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: She's like, I don't even deserve your forgiveness. He's like, well,
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: that's too bad. You got in anyway, you know. But
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: I also love like the back and forth between the
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: Warden and Drigget because eventually, when her plan does succeed. Uh.
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: He's like, well, what's going on? Like he's confused as hell,
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: because he, like she very convincingly was like, hey, just
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: put me in charge first, you know, I got this,
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: Like I can definitely do this. Okay, you should trust
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: me because look at how many people I killed for
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: you and like all this other stuff, right, and so
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: he's like, yeah, sure, yeah, you I'm very proud of
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: who you were becoming. Driggate is literally some of the
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: last words he speaks to her with and the back
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: and forth finally when she is executing the plan, destroying
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: the excavators and everything else, and how she just like
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: literally just like a badass, throws the communit and just
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: blasts it on the ground like screw you, Like you'll
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: never see or hear from me ever. Again. I just
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: love it. It's it's some could probably say like, Okay,
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: that's a little overkill, it's kind of dramatic, But because
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: of the weight that all of this is really holding
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: on both Gavy and on Driggott's character to finally kind
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: of let go of that is what this issue is
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: really about. And I really really enjoyed that. I think
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: that it came across very very well, and like even
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: towards the end, like when she is kind of hating
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: herself so much for what she has done, how she
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: has changed as a character through all of this, she
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: still is a badass. Takes Gavvy's lightsaber. It's like, hey,
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: I don't know how to use this, but I have
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: watched Gabby train for years, so I think I know
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: a thing or two. It is actually able to fight
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: with it, which I thought was absolutely amazing, very very fun,
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: very cool, such a big.
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: Work with the fight scene and showing that struggle that
- 1:17:47Speaker 2: she's having to hold that lightsaber up because we know,
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: despite what it looks like that it's a beam of plasma,
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: it actually is very heavy.
- 1:17:57Speaker 3: Yeah, and can weigh on a person, which makes it
- 1:18:00Speaker 3: even heavier.
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: Not only that, but like like the the balance of
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: the fact that, like literal plasma has no weight to it,
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: but yeah, the weight of the hilt and everything else
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: inside of it. Like there is a reason why these
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: Padawans train from a very young age to be masters eventually,
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: you know. So I loved all of that. Again, shading
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: here is really really fun. The panel progression for this
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: fight is really cool, and like even the ending the ending,
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: like I like, I kind of hate it, but at
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: the same time it's so good. I can't hate it because.
- 1:18:41Speaker 3: It really makes sense for Driggate.
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: It makes sense for Driggate. But there's literally no conclusion
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: between the two of them. But you're still satisfied, which
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: is why I'm a little upset, because again, I wanted
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: that conclusion. I wanted that resolution, and there is a
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: little bit of it, but like Alyssa almost leaves like
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: a little bit of like, hey, you know, kind of
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: like you were saying with uh oh master, uh snube
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: sorry how it's kind of like, oh, you know, eventually
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: we can go back to this and tell these stories,
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: right you You almost get a little a little crumb
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: of like, oh, you know what, She's gone, but I
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: can still feel her. I still have this thread. We
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: are still connected and you know, maybe someday we can
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: see each other again. Like it gives you hope, and
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: I'm just like, God, damn it, I still want to
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: read this.
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: Well, guys, I do, in fact think that is about
- 1:19:47Speaker 2: it for us at this point.
- 1:19:51Speaker 3: Do we have anything else to clay?
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: Yeah? No, I will say I do like the mask
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: that Driget dawned at the very end, I thought it
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: was very like vigilante esque for her to just take
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: that Nihill mask and be like, hey, you know, I'm
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: just gonna do my own thing. I thought was really fun.
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: But no, I think that is it. I think this
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: was a great story. We still have one more volume
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: of the High Republic Adventures, and still we don't know
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: what's to come next. Guys. New York Comic Con is
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: literally around the corner. We could be getting any announcement. Remember,
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: like one thing that the publishing movement for Star Wars
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: has said over and over and over again, they don't
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: have to wait for San Diego, they don't have to
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: wait for Star Wars celebration, they don't have to wait
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: for any comic goon. They can just do whatever. And
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: they really feel like they are confident enough with their initiatives,
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: with their plans going and moving forward, that people are
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: just gonna be like cool, Yeah, word of mouth will
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: get there, social media will get there. And so I'm
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: excited for New York Comic Con because there is always
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: hope that something could come out of that. I believe
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: they have made announcements at New York Comic Con before
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: New York Comic Con is a little bit more of
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: a bigger convention, bigger enough for like even studios to
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: make announcements for movies and animated TV shows. So hopefully
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: we will see something coming out from Star Wars publishing.
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: Ye with that, though, again, guys, thank you so much
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: for being here. Just like Katie pulled up on the YouTube,
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: find us please over at Blue Sky and Instagram. I
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: just tried to. I don't think I've actually signed in
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: on threads, but like, I went to the Instagram, the
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: Star Wars Instagram account, and then I pressed the little
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: threads button and it immediately took me to my fanboy
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: Clay account, and I'm like, what the heck? So eventually,
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: once I figure it out, you could also find us
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: on threads. You will start to see more, uh stuff
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: on our social media accounts after my vacation. I have
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: decided that I'm in the planning stage. I'm in the
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: preparing stage. But we will have more stuff on our
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: social media.
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: After like this, please gonna give me assignments.
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: But speaking of assignments, Katie also reminded me that, uh,
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: we're gonna have to do a Star Wars quiz soon.
- 1:22:50Speaker 3: Yes, dragon Con is this weekend.
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: I am super terrified because I don't think I remember
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: any of the answers. So so I know that one answer,
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: that one question that like ninety five percent of people
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: get wrong, I know that I'm gonna get wrong, Like,
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: oh yeah, I think I think I I literally got
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: it right last year just because of guessing, Like I
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: know that I'm gonna get it wrong this year.
- 1:23:17Speaker 2: So if it makes you feel, that's typically the only
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: question that returns to the quizzes.
- 1:23:23Speaker 3: Everything else is spread.
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: New Oh my gosh. So uh yeah. So other than
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: following the show on Blue Sky on Instagram, you can
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: also find me over on blue Sky Instagram and threads.
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: I have been doing a piss poor job at you know,
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: all of my reading assignments that I've been giving myself. Again,
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: I am, you know, really trying to entertain a two
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: year old for nine hours of the day. So reading
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: is unfortunately on the bottom of the list of things
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: to do. But I am planning on reading a lot
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: of stuff on We're Listening, should I say, to a
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: lot of stuff on my flight and on my vacation.
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: So if you would like to follow me on that journey,
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: go ahead. And do so on those accounts. But Katie,
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: where can people find you?
- 1:24:18Speaker 3: Y'all?
- 1:24:19Speaker 2: You can find me on those social media platforms. It's
- 1:24:21Speaker 2: at Slace of Katie. Remember we are on Blue Sky, Instagram,
- 1:24:25Speaker 2: and threads. Star Wars Alliance is the username that you
- 1:24:31Speaker 2: can find us at. Remember there's no a in the worst.
- 1:24:33Speaker 2: That's super important, don't forget it. You can also shoot
- 1:24:38Speaker 2: us a text or leave us a voicemail. Wow, I
- 1:24:40Speaker 2: can do two at the same time. Sorry, I didn't
- 1:24:42Speaker 2: know that, otherwise I would have had both up. Eight
- 1:24:46Speaker 2: three zero five three eight four eight two eight is
- 1:24:48Speaker 2: that number you can reach us out. You can also
- 1:24:50Speaker 2: shoot us an email. It's the same username as our

- 1:24:59Speaker 2: to refer to you on the show. We'd love to
- 1:25:02Speaker 2: hear from you, guys.
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: With that, I want to wish everyone a great day
- 1:25:06Speaker 2: or night, whatever time day you are listening or watching,
- 1:25:09Speaker 2: and we will see yall next time.
- 1:25:10Speaker 3: May the Force be with you
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: Mhm.
