- 0:32Com This is the Eat more Carbs podcast.
- 0:39Hello and welcome. This is the Eat more Carbs
- 0:41podcast. It's Jenna here with Riley.
- 0:43We're two dietitians that talk every Thursday about sports
- 0:45nutrition for the girlies. Yay.
- 0:47Welcome back. We're so excited to chat with
- 0:49you today and throughout the entire month of March, which is
- 0:52National Nutrition Month. Today we're going to be talking
- 0:54about our high and low. So sharing a little bit about
- 0:56our week, the good and maybe the parts we wish have gone a little
- 0:59bit differently. And and we're also going to talk
- 1:01about what drives us bananas as dietitians that we saw online
- 1:04this week. So Riley, can you kick us off
- 1:06this week with your high and low?
- 1:07What's going on? Tell me about your week.
- 1:09Well, my high and my low this week are a little bit of the
- 1:11same story. So I recently shared that I'm
- 1:15going through some plantar fasciitis right now.
- 1:17This is something that I've never actually navigated before
- 1:20and it's it's not enjoyable. But my high has to also do with
- 1:24my plantar fasciitis because I shared recently on my Instagram
- 1:27that so something that I'm struggling with and I asked for
- 1:30and advice and the amount of responses I got with helpful
- 1:34tips and just advice. I was overwhelmed by how many
- 1:38DMS I bought. So this is just a big shout out
- 1:40and thank you to everybody that provided some advice and some
- 1:44like expertise in the space because I was again, just
- 1:47overwhelmed with the response. And I'm just so thankful for
- 1:50like the RBSN community, the Mark Harps community, and just
- 1:53everybody who's helping to support like our small business
- 1:56and then also my running journey.
- 1:57I'm so glad that you have like a good community around you.
- 1:59We of our corner of the Internet that is so helpful when things
- 2:02like that do pop up. So that makes me really happy.
- 2:04How is it feeling? Is it feeling better that you've
- 2:06like started to kind of implement some of the things
- 2:08that have been suggested? Yeah.
- 2:09And I kind of like, knew it was coming.
- 2:12Like I should have been taking a little bit better care of like
- 2:14my recovery and I should have been like stretching more and
- 2:17stuff. It just gets kind of challenging
- 2:19to do like stretching and exercises when I'm running with
- 2:22Charlie because if I'm doing like band work, like before my
- 2:25run, then she's running around the house.
- 2:27So I just had to make it more of our priority because I wasn't
- 2:29doing that before. So luckily it's like under
- 2:32control and it was the very beginning stages of it.
- 2:34So I was just really trying to like get ahead of it.
- 2:36I mean, we talk about this all the time, like period recovery
- 2:38and things, but like prevention is key.
- 2:40So just trying to get ahead of it and make sure that it didn't
- 2:43really become like a big deal. So that's really what I've been
- 2:45focused on right now. Oh my gosh, I have a hard time
- 2:47stretching like and exercising as is without a little toddler
- 2:51running around. So I can't imagine the
- 2:53additional piece that that would add in.
- 2:55So yeah, you definitely do have to make it a priority because it
- 2:57is important. And it's probably something that
- 2:59I should add into like my goals, too, because it is an important
- 3:02part of making sure that you stay healthy as a runner.
- 3:04Jenna what? About you How's your week going?
- 3:05My week is really good. I have so many things that I
- 3:07could share for my high, which is great.
- 3:09We love that. But I'm going to actually choose
- 3:11to share a client win. I've been working with a client
- 3:13who has been working towards running 1/2 marathon.
- 3:16This is not the first time that they were going to be competing
- 3:18in 1/2 marathon, but they ran their half marathon and they let
- 3:22me know that it went really well and it was one of the best
- 3:24they'd ever felt running because we'd really worked on fueling
- 3:27and intra run fueling. She sent me a picture at the end
- 3:30at the finish line and it was just so exciting.
- 3:31So celebrating her win with her, see another runner that's come
- 3:34through RBS sign and like fueling really well and seeing
- 3:37the benefit of that during their race is so exciting.
- 3:39I had to share that because I'm just really proud of her and all
- 3:42of the progress that she's made. That's my high.
- 3:44My low is going to be the most Arizona low of all time.
- 3:48I have been waiting to share this story with you because I
- 3:51wanted to get your live reaction on the podcast.
- 3:53If you didn't know, I recently moved into a new home, which is
- 3:57great. We're very fortunate and happy
- 3:59to be here. The other morning I came out to
- 4:01make my coffee and I turned on like the overhead lamp on like
- 4:05the oven just so that way I could see like the fill line
- 4:07because like it's not bright in the morning quite yet when I'm
- 4:10up. So I wanted to see and I grabbed
- 4:12the little thing and I'm looking at it and I hold it over the
- 4:14oven because that's where the light is.
- 4:17And like out of the corner of my eye, I noticed that there's
- 4:19something underneath like the grates of the oven.
- 4:21And like, as soon as it hit me with what it was, I just like
- 4:24started backing away. I was like, oh, no, no, no, no,
- 4:26no, no, I cannot do this. I can't do this.
- 4:29And Nolan, my husband is, what are you doing?
- 4:31What's going on? He's like looking around trying
- 4:32to figure out like what I'm freaking out about.
- 4:34There is a massive scorpion. I knew it underneath the grates
- 4:39like of our stove top. It was so big.
- 4:42I have no idea how it got there or why it was like on the
- 4:45counter. We lived in Las Vegas for a
- 4:47while where scorpions are also very common.
- 4:49I never saw one while we lived there.
- 4:51While we were at UNLV and then moving here, we lived for about
- 4:55a year and a half over in our previous location and I never
- 4:58saw one. So truthfully, I kind of was
- 4:59letting my guard down and I was like, I'm beginning to question
- 5:02the existence of scorpions in the desert.
- 5:04And as soon as I did this, we've been in this home for just a
- 5:07couple of weeks and there's a massive scorpion in my kitchen.
- 5:10Riley, I'm not kidding you. I have to show you a picture.
- 5:12The thing is like this big. And then like the rest of the
- 5:15day, I was just like, every time I thought of it, I was like a
- 5:17little felt like a shiver go up my spine because I was like, how
- 5:19did it get in my house? Why was it here?
- 5:22And things that I didn't have to deal with not growing up in an
- 5:25area where scorpions aren't common.
- 5:27So hope I never have to deal with that again.
- 5:29The good news about this podcast is that anytime that anything
- 5:33goes bad, we can look forward to at least like talking about it
- 5:35and sharing and having a laugh with you all.
- 5:37But like I definitely have the EBGB's right now, like.
- 5:40I have the best low for the podcast and that's what I have
- 5:42to look at this as. It's like I got something good
- 5:44to share. You're just the lucky 1 I guess.
- 5:46So good luck. It's a good sign I'm.
- 5:47Gonna go with that let's go with that that makes me feel a little
- 5:50better but Speaking of things that kind of get under our skin
- 5:53and make us feel not so great I wanna talk a little bit about
- 5:55like what drives us bananas you and I have both seen a lot of
- 5:58nonsense nutrition online over the past several years but I see
- 6:01it really kind of ramping up recently So what have you seen
- 6:04this week that has driven you bananas from online nonsense
- 6:08nutrition I'm. So excited to get your opinion
- 6:11on the first thing that I saw as our running dietitian at RBSN.
- 6:15I have something that popped out to me this past weekend and I
- 6:19would love your opinion on it because as you shared, Jenna, we
- 6:22are both kind of running right now and intrafuel is one of the
- 6:25most important things, especially for those longer
- 6:28distances. And I have shared that I'm not a
- 6:31big gel person, so I I like gummies, I like fruit snacks,
- 6:34but I am going to start implementing gels in my longer
- 6:37runs to help get enough carbohydrates in.
- 6:39So been doing some gel research and I came across a keto energy
- 6:45gel and I have to get your opinion on it because I pulled
- 6:48up this article on Healthline which obviously is a very
- 6:51reputable source. It was giving a list of gels and
- 6:55this is the best keto friendly energy gel.
- 6:58It's a you can gel which we love that brand, but I need your
- 7:01opinion on the keto gel like is that thing because I don't know.
- 7:05I saw it and I instantly got mad.
- 7:07I'm feeling similarly because that feels contradictory in
- 7:10itself because the gel is supposed to be something that
- 7:13provides quick usable energy and the keto products typically are
- 7:18low to no carbohydrate. So how is that able to do both?
- 7:22Because if you've been listening to this podcast where they eat
- 7:25more carbs podcast because carbs are a primary source of energy.
- 7:27We love carbs. We want to have enough carbs,
- 7:29especially as athletes, as female athletes.
- 7:31So how can we have something that's supposedly going to give
- 7:33us quick usable energy but not have any carbohydrate?
- 7:35I also am concerned because if Healthline has an article about
- 7:39like what the best keto gel is, does that mean that there are
- 7:41more that exist? Like is there a whole line of
- 7:44keto gels and where is the energy in these coming from?
- 7:47I didn't even think about that because on the article it says
- 7:50that there's 19 grams of carbs per serving, so it's even
- 7:53listing the carb amount in there.
- 7:55Now I'm concerned that there's a lot of keto gels out there. 19
- 7:58grams of carbs is not keto to me.
- 8:00No. Yeah, again, like it just feels
- 8:02very contradictory to be like it's keto, but here's your carbs
- 8:05because the keto plan low to no carbohydrate.
- 8:09For some everybody who's around my body weight, you would need
- 8:12about 25 grams of carbohydrates Max to be in ketosis.
- 8:17Like that's the Max amount of carbohydrates that I would need
- 8:20to consume per day. So I would literally just have
- 8:22to eat this gel to be my sole. Carb source.
- 8:24And that's it, right? So when Riley and I first met,
- 8:26one of the things that I really admired about her is that she
- 8:29wanted to try the fads so that way she can understand what
- 8:32people are going through. And for one of her research
- 8:35times decided to follow the ketogenic diet, which did
- 8:37include very low carbohydrates intake.
- 8:40And I remember Riley telling me about that experience when we
- 8:43were in our internship and sharing that she met her
- 8:45carbohydrate intake after. Breakfast, it was just so hard
- 8:48and it was such a great experience for me to like
- 8:50actually plan out a keto diet the way that the keto diet is
- 8:52supposed to be done. And when we look online right
- 8:54now, there's so many different interpretations of the keto
- 8:57diet, but a lot of the mainstream keto diets right now
- 9:00are just a high fat diet, low carb, and some of them are even
- 9:04like low to moderate protein or we see some people can make like
- 9:07a high protein, high fat diet and you're not truly in ketosis.
- 9:11Like to be in ketosis, you need about 85% like it will say 80 to
- 9:1485% of your macro nutrients coming from fat, which is
- 9:18extremely challenging to do. So you're looking at like 80 to
- 9:2185% fat, maybe like 10 to 15% protein and like 5 to 10% Max of
- 9:27carbohydrates. If you actually try to do that,
- 9:30it is extremely challenging. I'm not a fan of this idea of a
- 9:33keto gel. Carbohydrates are what our body
- 9:35prefers at high intensity exercise and typically we're
- 9:38using a gel for energy during high intensity exercise.
- 9:41So it seems a little contradictory.
- 9:42I'm wondering if it's just like a marketing thing because if it
- 9:45still has 19 grams of carbohydrate, like what are they
- 9:47coming from and what are the other components of the gel?
- 9:50Is there fat in the gel that would be so uncomfortable.
- 9:52I feel like to try to take that like during a run or something
- 9:55like that and that's how they're approaching.
- 9:57I'm not really sure I. Definitely think it's a big
- 9:59marketing ploy, especially right now in the running space.
- 10:02There's a lot of talk with like the carnivore diet.
- 10:04It's something that's also kind of resurfaced on TikTok.
- 10:07So there's a lot of people right now who are doing this like
- 10:10carnivore, high fat, high protein, low carbohydrate diet,
- 10:13which is just not great for performance and also not great
- 10:16for overall health. Too couldn't agree with you more
- 10:18Speaking of that we talk a lot about the things that we see in
- 10:21like running Facebook groups. We see a lot of things in those
- 10:24running Facebook groups that were a part of about following a
- 10:26keto diet or reducing carbohydrate to become a better
- 10:29runner or a faster runner or something like that which
- 10:31baseline drives me bananas. But one of the things that I'm
- 10:34choosing to share from what drives me bananas this week was
- 10:36something that I saw on the Facebook group and I actually,
- 10:39it took a screenshot of it. I'm not going to share the
- 10:41person's name or details of it, but I wanted to make sure that I
- 10:44got the wording of this correct because I saw it and I was like,
- 10:47oh, my goodness. So this person posts a photo of
- 10:51an elite race like the US indoor track is going on right now.
- 10:55It is a picture of that of the elite female runners.
- 10:57And it says, I just watched a replay of insert runner specific
- 11:01name from last weekend. And I have been running for
- 11:03years. When do I get a body like that?
- 11:05Oh. Jenna.
- 11:08I oftentimes, like so many people, run to the comment
- 11:11sections when I see something like that because I just want to
- 11:14know what other people are chiming in.
- 11:16And I was incredibly impressed because the comments were very
- 11:19different from what I was anticipating they might be.
- 11:22And the comments were a lot of about like not comparing
- 11:24yourself to others or remembering that these women are
- 11:27elite runners because of some genetic components that they
- 11:30were born with and that we're never going to look the exact
- 11:33same to another runner. Even if we trained and consumed
- 11:36the same amount of fuel and did everything exactly the same, our
- 11:38bodies still would look different.
- 11:40So I was really impressed that a lot of the comments were very
- 11:42positive about that. But there were also some
- 11:44comments in there too, a lot of which were primarily other
- 11:47women, other females in the group that we're saying I've
- 11:49experienced something similar. I'm just waiting for my runner's
- 11:52body and things like that. So I still felt really like sad
- 11:55that there's still this idea that when you start running, you
- 11:59start to look a certain way. Or if you are a runner, you must
- 12:02look a certain way. And that's just not the truth.
- 12:04Like you have a body and you run, you're a runner.
- 12:07Like there's nothing that says that your body needs to look a
- 12:09certain way. I know that we've talked about
- 12:11this before, but you were talking with one of the athletes
- 12:13you were working with about her fear about walking up to the
- 12:15start line and not looking like a runner.
- 12:17And you were like, well, what does a runner look like?
- 12:19Describe that to me. And when you walk up to the
- 12:21start line of any race, like you look around and thankfully
- 12:24there's, you know, hundreds of different people there that look
- 12:26hundreds of different ways because we are all unique.
- 12:29We all have different needs. And that's OK to see that still
- 12:33continue being a trend, especially for females that feel
- 12:36this pressure to look a certain way when you're a runner.
- 12:39It was just so sad to me. So I would say like more so than
- 12:41drives me bananas. I just was sad.
- 12:43It just drives me bananas that we're still having this
- 12:45conversation because this is even bigger than like the
- 12:48running community. We see this across all sports
- 12:50where athletes feel the pressure to look a certain way or
- 12:53something that we see a lot of with our athletes that we work
- 12:56with is like the pressure to have like certain quote, UN
- 12:58quote look that most athletes have like in a certain sport.
- 13:02And I always think about, obviously I go back to soccer a
- 13:05lot, but like when you think about some of the best soccer
- 13:07players in the world, at least on the men's side, you have like
- 13:09Cristiano Ronaldo and then you have Lionel Messi, right?
- 13:12And they have completely different body types.
- 13:14I can bet you if like Messi grew up playing in the United States,
- 13:18like he would have been told like he doesn't have the right
- 13:20body type for soccer because he's not super tall, right?
- 13:24Or he's not maybe as strong or as athletic with air quotes,
- 13:27right? And again, like, I'm not saying
- 13:28this at all, but there's often pressure to have a certain body
- 13:32type with a sport. And that's just like made-up.
- 13:35Like what are you talking about? Like is one of the greatest
- 13:37soccer players of all time. So like, why aren't we just all
- 13:40try to look like him if we're trying to go for a look, right?
- 13:42Like, it just so subjective and it's just causing so much
- 13:46stress. And especially with female
- 13:47athletes, it causes a lot of underfueling.
- 13:49Yes, absolutely. Because we see this idea and we
- 13:52get it into our head that we need to adjust our fueling so
- 13:55drastically in order to achieve a look that we think is like
- 13:59going to make us a better runner.
- 14:01But I always want to ask the question, if you think that that
- 14:03physique is going to make you a better runner, Like we need to
- 14:06like look at the root of that desire and address that.
- 14:10Because is it really that you think that it's going to make
- 14:12you a better runner? Or is it that you think it's
- 14:14going to make you appear to be a better runner?
- 14:16Because what are you really after?
- 14:18Is it the appearance of being a runner or is it being a better
- 14:21runner? Because we need to address
- 14:23different things if the desire is different.
- 14:25And kind of going back to So what we've talked about South
- 14:27many times, like the why behind it, like what's the driving
- 14:30thing here? What's going on here?
- 14:31And what do we really need to be working through?
- 14:33Because those are very different scenarios that we would be need
- 14:35to be addressing. Definitely.
- 14:36I think you said it perfectly, like it just always goes back.
- 14:39To the why 100%, we've kind of covered Facebook and a couple
- 14:42other topics of where we find things that drive us bananas
- 14:45about. What else have you seen online
- 14:47this week that has driven you bananas?
- 14:50Well, of course, anything that has to do with demonizing carbs,
- 14:52you know, is going to drive me absolutely bananas.
- 14:55And recently our dear friend Doctor Mark Hyman posted that
- 15:01carbs are non essential. And of course, you know, we
- 15:05weren't very upset about that. And just like you had mentioned
- 15:09with your Facebook post, like running to the comments to see,
- 15:12like, what are people talking about here?
- 15:14And I was, you know, obviously I was extremely ticked off about
- 15:17this ridiculous Instagram post, but I was so excited to see so
- 15:21many people in the comments like being like, carbs are essential,
- 15:25carbs are essential, we need them.
- 15:27So I was really happy to see that, but obviously just always
- 15:29ticked off when I see somebody demonizing carbohydrates.
- 15:32Especially like a trusted source, like as a physician to
- 15:35continually tell people or fear monger online causes harm,
- 15:39whether it be harm around fear of food because people start to
- 15:43eliminate certain food groups that are essential.
- 15:45Carbohydrates are one of our six essential nutrients.
- 15:47And if we scared people into that, like that's doing harm as
- 15:50well. So from my perspective, that
- 15:52post is way more harm than good. And again, we're back to
- 15:56nonsense nutrition that unfortunately posts a lot of.
- 16:00I am curious though, because that specific post that you're
- 16:03talking about has thousands of likes but also thousands of
- 16:07comments. And I'm curious of if the
- 16:09algorithms show us comments that we would agree with or be more
- 16:14likely to agree with. Because mine too showed a lot of
- 16:17dietitians and other professionals and they're being
- 16:19like, this is incredibly misleading.
- 16:20This can be really concerning because carbohydrates are
- 16:23essential and all these sorts of things, but there are thousands
- 16:26of comments on that post. I couldn't screen all of them
- 16:28and I'm curious if there were a lot of them that still were in
- 16:31agreeance of this idea that carbohydrates are non essential.
- 16:34That is a really good point because something that we talked
- 16:36about on this podcast too is like sometimes we're shielded
- 16:39from a lot of the like negative talk around food because like
- 16:42RBSN is such a food forward place and our feeds are so much
- 16:46related to like body positivity and fueling your body
- 16:49appropriately that we're sometimes like, not like
- 16:51shielded, but we are taken away. I guess you could say like we're
- 16:55removed from a lot of like the diet culture and a lot of that
- 16:58misinformation. Another thing on the topic of
- 17:01the algorithm, incorrect information is more likely to go
- 17:04viral because so many people are going to to be like commenting,
- 17:08saying this is wrong because that increases engagement.
- 17:11So a lot of the time too, I'm wondering like, does he know
- 17:14that he's putting out bad information and he's just using
- 17:17that as part of his brand to try to stimulate engagement?
- 17:20That's a good point, something I hadn't considered, but it could
- 17:23totally be just another thing that's almost like marketing
- 17:25because like he's marketing his brand.
- 17:27He's not marketing that, you know, come and work with him
- 17:29specifically. He's about going viral.
- 17:31He's about building that brand, increasing engagement, because
- 17:34that's probably the goal of the post.
- 17:36Yeah, And he a huge following. So he's been successful with
- 17:39social media, so he obviously knows what works.
- 17:42But then it kind of goes back to like what you mentioned, where
- 17:44like this is really doing a lot of harm.
- 17:46Like if you're putting out like controversial information that's
- 17:49not science back in order to just gain engagement and gain a
- 17:52following. It's really, really dangerous,
- 17:54especially if a lot of people are relying on you and trusting
- 17:57you as a physician. Yeah, as a trusted source of
- 18:00information, you would hope that they were going to put out
- 18:02information that would do good. It just increases fear of food.
- 18:07It increases our likelihood to avoid entire food groups.
- 18:10Definitely increase confusion around what types of foods we
- 18:13should be using to fuel with. It's just really heartbreaking
- 18:16to see. Honestly, that's not even just
- 18:18driving me bananas, it just like also breaking my heart a little
- 18:21bit. Yeah, absolutely.
- 18:22Anybody that goes after carbs, though, you know well, they're.
- 18:24Probably not listening to the podcast that of people who are
- 18:27giving us a one star. So true.
- 18:31Oh my gosh. OK, this last thing that I'm
- 18:34going to share I really want to get your opinion on because the
- 18:37kind of underlying theme is pregnancy and I am not the
- 18:41individual in the room that can share a first hand experience of
- 18:44pregnancy. I have never experienced
- 18:46pregnancy, but Riley recently gave birth to her baby girl
- 18:48Charlie. I'm want your opinion because
- 18:51not having the first hand experience, I don't want to step
- 18:54in and share. We see a lot of what I eat in a
- 18:56day videos on Instagram and online.
- 18:59Riley's already just just giving me a reaction if you, if you're
- 19:02not watching the video feed, which has kind of transformed
- 19:05into from what I eat in a day to what's on my plate in a day,
- 19:09which I guess somehow is the same thing, just framed in a
- 19:12different way. Potato, tomato.
- 19:14I guess there's we're going to call her an influencer who
- 19:16recently shared that she's expecting her first child, which
- 19:19that's so exciting, but she shared with all of her followers
- 19:22what she eats in a day at her specific week of pregnancy.
- 19:26I know that from you sharing your pregnancy journey that
- 19:29sometimes it's really hard to consume because you might be
- 19:31experiencing nausea. That was something that I found
- 19:34a little bit concerning because like we're taking an already
- 19:37potentially concerning topic of what I eat in a day.
- 19:39But then we're expanding that to be almost more concerning
- 19:42because like we're talking about somebody who's at a very
- 19:45specific point in what they might need.
- 19:47Can you like share a little bit about like that?
- 19:50Yeah. I think this applies to almost
- 19:52like all of those videos. So we're like, we don't
- 19:55understand what is really happening in somebody's life,
- 19:59even though social media gives us that.
- 20:01That perspective, I was like seven months pregnant before I
- 20:04even like shared it publicly. Like people said that they knew
- 20:07or whatever, but like nobody knew what I was like actually
- 20:09going on in my life. I think a lot of the time we
- 20:12tried to mimic a certain lifestyle with only like 60 to
- 20:1570% of the information. We have no idea like what this
- 20:19person is really going through. And a lot of the times they're
- 20:23showing a highlight reel of their life.
- 20:24We don't know if they actually ate that right.
- 20:27We don't know if they just made that plate and then went to a
- 20:29fast food restaurant or like if they doubled that plate or if
- 20:32they ate one of the strings of asparagus on that plate.
- 20:35I think what happens is it just really sets up like false
- 20:37expectations and like unrealistic expectations.
- 20:40Definitely a lot of unrealistic expectations.
- 20:43I just am curious if like if somebody who was around that
- 20:45same week of pregnancy saw that and then compared it to what
- 20:49they were currently doing and if they were experiencing cravings
- 20:51or if they were experiencing a lot of nausea like and their
- 20:54fueling didn't look the same if. Yeah, I mean, everybody's
- 20:57pregnancy is different, right? So like some people have no
- 21:00symptoms. Like through the 1st trimester,
- 21:01I was super sick. I couldn't even look at a
- 21:03vegetable. I couldn't look at a piece of
- 21:05meat. Like I lived off with Mac and
- 21:06cheese, like glasses of milk, blue ices from McDonald's.
- 21:09Like that was what was happening, right?
- 21:11Like if someone had tried to give me a piece of spinach, I
- 21:14probably would have thrown up. I remember like walking down
- 21:16stairs and like Robbie had made some like chicken breasts and I
- 21:20ran back upstairs and threw up. Me putting that unnecessary
- 21:23pressure to like have this beautiful plate of food like
- 21:25wasn't going to happen. And that would also have been
- 21:28really unfair to me in my journey.
- 21:30And I think that's also something to remember.
- 21:32We're like, yes, if you can eat a performance plate, if you can
- 21:34get your 46 servings of vegetables in, if you can have
- 21:37all the components, amazing. But if you can't, like also
- 21:40amazing. Just like do whatever you can to
- 21:42like give your body like some energy at least.
- 21:45Yeah. I think it just highlights like
- 21:47how different what we're all experiencing really is.
- 21:51And just like you said, like it's amazing if we can get fuel
- 21:53on our plate, fueling is feeling.
- 21:54I would rather have you fuel with something rather than not
- 21:56fuel at all. I don't know why this one really
- 21:58got to me, but it did. I think there's so much pressure
- 22:00to that are put on women for how their body is going to change
- 22:05and like how to navigate that. But then there's also so much
- 22:09pressure like postpartum to like look like you never have a baby
- 22:12and it's like you literally just made a human.
- 22:14Now you're recovering from this very intense process.
- 22:18We need to give ourselves some grace.
- 22:20We always talk about like there's a dad bod and like, wow,
- 22:22it's so attractive, but like we don't have a mom bod.
- 22:25Like that's something that's demonized in our society when
- 22:28like the woman is who made the baby and is now keeping the baby
- 22:31alive if they aren't lactating. Absolutely.
- 22:33So just always looking at things when you're online and not
- 22:37applying it directly to you. That might be what this
- 22:40individual needed during her pregnancy and what worked for
- 22:42her. But if your plate looks
- 22:44different, no matter what walk of life you're at, like that's
- 22:46OK. We don't need to have the exact
- 22:48same fueling plan as somebody else because their needs are so
- 22:51different from ours. Everything that we see online,
- 22:54whether it be we look at a runner and we think that we
- 22:56should look that way because we also run, or if we are in the
- 23:00middle of pregnancy and we think that we should be feeling the
- 23:02same way as someone else who is also in the middle of pregnancy,
- 23:04like that's just not the case. Like we're all so different, our
- 23:06needs are so different, and what we need in order to fuel
- 23:09ourselves is going to be different from everyone else,
- 23:13and that is good and it's OK. Exactly.
- 23:16Anything else that drives you bananas?
- 23:17No, but all of these things drive you bananas.
- 23:20I'm sure it's not the last time we're going to talk about it on
- 23:22this podcast, but that's why we do it at the beginning of every
- 23:25single month to try to just get all of our craziness out and
- 23:28then we can chat about other things throughout the rest of
- 23:30the month. If you do have questions for
