- 0:03Speaker 2: Let's go, baby, let's go.
- 0:04Speaker 1: From a championship backfield to your morning drive. Hands to Hester,
- 0:08Speaker 1: and Hester, yep, got it, five out of five. You're
- 0:11Speaker 1: locked in to Off the Bench.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Flynn is back to throw for the end zone ball.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Live from the Raising Cane Studio, here's Jacob Hester and
- 0:22Speaker 1: Matt Flynn. Off the bench.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Welcome in to OTB here on a football Friday. We
- 0:36Speaker 3: are live from Rouse's own Burbank and Lee here in
- 0:40Speaker 3: the capital city. Jake and Flint and Moose here at Rouse's.
- 0:45Speaker 3: Alondra and Tay-Tay back in studio in downtown Baton Rouge.
- 0:50Speaker 2: A lot to get to today. A lot of food
- 0:54Speaker 2: to smell. Ooh, the smell's going to be good. A
- 0:57Speaker 2: little sushi being cooked.
- 0:59Speaker 3: Prepared right now i.
- 1:00Speaker 4: Think my guy might have had a i'm gonna have
- 1:03Speaker 4: a long night i had another night on a thursday
- 1:06Speaker 4: not here yet maybe he was at some sort of
- 1:09Speaker 4: thursday high school football game.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Maybe he was because my goodness i was.
- 1:12Speaker 2: And sleepy boy a little sleepy boy a little.
- 1:15Speaker 3: Sleepy boy uh you were at the college eight game
- 1:18Speaker 3: college you didn't feel like they ate very much though.
- 1:22Speaker 4: Well i was like i was watching the game i
- 1:24Speaker 4: was like you know not the best college team i've
- 1:27Speaker 4: seen you know.
- 1:29Speaker 2: I'm just kidding. It was a great game.
- 1:31Speaker 4: We had a great time last night. They had some
- 1:36Speaker 4: really nice uniforms. I was very impressed. I was very impressed.
- 1:40Speaker 4: They brought the drum line. The collegiate prep. I do
- 1:44Speaker 4: know how to say it now. I practiced it. I
- 1:47Speaker 4: was in the mirror last night before going to bed
- 1:49Speaker 4: just practicing.
- 1:52Speaker 2: They did. They fought hard. They had a great band
- 1:55Speaker 2: and drum line that came to the game.
- 1:57Speaker 4: And it was really fun. We had a good little,
- 1:59Speaker 4: nice little evening. But I did leave after the first-ish quarter.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Good for you. Hemi had a great performance.
- 2:04Speaker 5: Obviously.
- 2:04Speaker 2: I mean, star of the show, clearly. Yeah. Working those cheers.
- 2:08Speaker 3: Nobody was there to see Elijah Haven.
- 2:09Speaker 2: They were there to see Hemi. The Kitty Cup Cheer Camp. So.
- 2:15Speaker 2: We're good.
- 2:16Speaker 3: I'm glad you got. I know some people don't really
- 2:19Speaker 3: hit or miss with a Thursday night football game.
- 2:21Speaker 2: And look. Stuff.
- 2:22Speaker 3: You get home late. You try to eat dinner. You
- 2:24Speaker 3: try to talk to. your son about the game or
- 2:26Speaker 3: your daughter if she was, you know, part of the cheer,
- 2:28Speaker 3: the band, whatever.
- 2:28Speaker 2: It's late. Why do they do it again? I know.
- 2:33Speaker 3: So we did it in Shreveport as well because there
- 2:37Speaker 3: was two stadiums. There was Lee Hedges Stadium and Independence
- 2:40Speaker 3: Stadium that everybody kind of shared. And so you had
- 2:42Speaker 3: to because, obviously, you all can't play on Fridays. I
- 2:46Speaker 3: think a little bit of it is like that here
- 2:48Speaker 3: with Memorial and Olympia and so many teams share, I think.
- 2:52Speaker 3: So I think that's one of the reasons for them.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Yep. But it's everybody else's excuse.
- 2:57Speaker 3: But I don't know because, like, we played at Plaquemine
- 2:59Speaker 3: last night, and they have a nice stadium. Like, they
- 3:01Speaker 3: have their own stadium. So I'm not really sure. I
- 3:04Speaker 3: don't know if it's, you know, kind of like Thursday
- 3:06Speaker 3: night football in the NFL, like a standalone situation where
- 3:09Speaker 3: maybe you get more people.
- 3:09Speaker 2: I don't know if you're looking for the ratings or not,
- 3:11Speaker 2: the TV audience.
- 3:14Speaker 3: No, but, like, U High Plaquemine was on, like, the
- 3:17Speaker 3: LHSAA network or whatever that they have.
- 3:19Speaker 2: And so, like, it was all in streaming. What about Dunham? Dunham.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Collegiate Prep. That one probably not. Probably not streaming.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Yeah, so I don't really know. I'm not really sure.
- 3:27Speaker 2: I don't know. I just think we should probably just
- 3:29Speaker 2: keep them on Fridays.
- 3:46Speaker 6: Technical difficulties during the Ole Miss week. Alondra, hopefully that
- 3:49Speaker 6: is not a bad omen for how the game goes.
- 3:52Speaker 2: We might have them back. We'll see.
- 3:55Speaker 6: They're back on camera. So we'll check and see if
- 4:01Speaker 6: we have.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Them on audio.
- 4:02Speaker 6: But look, guys, it's just one of those things. We're
- 4:04Speaker 6: going to roll whenever we're on location. Things like that
- 4:07Speaker 6: kind of happen. So we do have them back. We
- 4:09Speaker 6: will throw it back if we have them on audio.
- 4:12Speaker 6: But look, guys, it's just one of those things.
- 4:14Speaker 2: We're going to roll. Hello. Do we have you? Yeah,
- 4:36Speaker 2: you're on. Sure. I think we do. Yeah.
- 4:42Speaker 3: I don't really know.
- 4:43Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 4:44Speaker 3: I don't know where you lost us.
- 4:45Speaker 2: We're just over here rolling. We're just rolling about Thursday
- 4:48Speaker 2: night football.
- 4:48Speaker 3: Yeah, we were just talking about Thursday night football. Why
- 4:50Speaker 3: do you do it? We don't really know.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Talk about high school.
- 4:54Speaker 3: Yes, there's a lot of LSU coaches that have children,
- 4:57Speaker 3: support staff that have children that play for U-High. So
- 4:59Speaker 3: it works out perfect for us.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Thank you for telling T-High for me. I love T. Yeah.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Great guy.
- 5:03Speaker 3: I definitely let him know you said what's up.
- 5:04Speaker 2: Great player. Got nothing, you know, love him. He's crushing it.
- 5:08Speaker 3: J-Bones played both ways last night.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. A lot of fun. They had this train horn, though,
- 5:15Speaker 2: in the end zone. And they were pretty liberal with
- 5:19Speaker 2: pressing the button. Okay.
- 5:20Speaker 3: It was almost like you were on the button and
- 5:22Speaker 3: you can't help yourself.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Right, like every two-yard gain they got.
- 5:26Speaker 3: And when we were on offense on third down, right
- 5:29Speaker 3: before we snapped it, they would hit it once to
- 5:32Speaker 3: try to, like, make us jump off sides. And I
- 5:34Speaker 3: felt like that was a little bush.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Okay. Like that was a little bush league. Okay. That's
- 5:38Speaker 2: a little bit of respect for you.
- 5:39Speaker 3: It's like I didn't really know that you could have,
- 5:42Speaker 3: you know, that situation, paraphernalia, if you will.
- 5:45Speaker 2: You're not supposed to.
- 5:46Speaker 3: On the sideline like that as a noisemaker.
- 5:50Speaker 2: Yep.
- 5:50Speaker 3: I was like, if I hear that train horn one
- 5:52Speaker 3: more time.
- 5:53Speaker 2: What are you going to do?
- 5:54Speaker 3: Me and the guy over there, we just might have
- 5:56Speaker 3: to fight on principle.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Oh, my gosh.
- 5:57Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 5:58Speaker 2: Man, we're fighting everybody.
- 5:59Speaker 3: Like, on third down, just like. We're fighting everybody recently.
- 6:02Speaker 3: To try to get us to jump off sides. I
- 6:03Speaker 3: was like, if J-Bones jumps off sides because of this
- 6:05Speaker 3: train horn.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Yep.
- 6:07Speaker 3: I'm his dad.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Yep.
- 6:08Speaker 3: What am I going to do?
- 6:09Speaker 2: Right.
- 6:09Speaker 3: Fight the guy.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Obviously. Duh. Might affect his scholarship to Florida State.
- 6:15Speaker 3: Yeah. I wouldn't even let Jay Bowers go.
- 6:19Speaker 2: To Florida State. No way.
- 6:22Speaker 3: Like, buddy, we're just going to use tops and go
- 6:25Speaker 3: to LSU.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Let's just work on the degree. We're not going to
- 6:29Speaker 2: that train wreck. No way, no how.
- 6:33Speaker 3: So, yeah, a lot of fun. Shout out.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Congrats to Hemi for putting it on.
- 6:37Speaker 3: The performance probably of the weekend.
- 6:40Speaker 2: Obviously. Even though we haven't even got to the weekend yet,
- 6:42Speaker 2: you're not going to beat it. Yeah, I don't know.
- 6:44Speaker 2: Can she be maybe the Louisiana high school? player of
- 6:47Speaker 2: the week. Could be. Probably because of that cheer. Could be.
- 6:50Speaker 2: I want candy. That was when her dance was too.
- 6:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I figured.
- 6:58Speaker 2: I figured.
- 7:01Speaker 3: Yeah, it probably was from a scone that tried to
- 7:03Speaker 3: sabotage the show. He wants more people watching the show
- 7:05Speaker 3: that he's currently doing right now. I believe they call
- 7:07Speaker 3: that morning tea.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Right?
- 7:13Speaker 2: Oh, scone. Morning scone.
- 7:15Speaker 5: Oh.
- 7:17Speaker 2: They pulled the plug on the remote back in.
- 7:20Speaker 3: The studio, I guess.
- 7:22Speaker 2: I don't really know. You see all these colors in
- 7:24Speaker 2: front of me?
- 7:26Speaker 4: We're stocked up over here, buddy. Ross is stocked up
- 7:30Speaker 4: on my high. Got all the zeros. That's a regular. Oh,
- 7:33Speaker 4: you got the zeros.
- 7:34Speaker 3: A lot of people typically come up to you, and
- 7:38Speaker 3: they're like, we need some more zeros.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Yeah, well, we made some adjustments. Told the distributor, I said, hey, look.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Ross is on Burbank. My God, do they go through.
- 7:47Speaker 3: And if he didn't deliver, you were going to treat
- 7:50Speaker 3: him like the guy pressing the button on the train
- 7:52Speaker 3: horn last night.
- 7:53Speaker 2: No doubt. No doubt. Probably just more of like a
- 7:58Speaker 2: strongly worded conversation. Probably like an email.
- 8:03Speaker 3: Yeah. Per our last conversation.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Per our last. Yeah.
- 8:08Speaker 4: We're going to need more. Hope all is well. Per
- 8:11Speaker 4: our last conversation. I'd like to follow up. on my
- 8:15Speaker 4: request for more product. Everyone else is on Burbank. Didn't
- 8:19Speaker 4: have to send that email, though, because they're stocked up.
- 8:21Speaker 4: So come on over and get them. When I walk
- 8:23Speaker 4: back after the show and I put these back on
- 8:24Speaker 4: the shelves, I want there to be about half what there.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Was this morning.
- 8:30Speaker 4: Oh, we got some breakfast bar goers up here.
- 8:36Speaker 3: He is right inside the chat here. I'm trying to see.
- 8:39Speaker 3: River Teddy said... You heard that train horn a lot
- 8:42Speaker 3: at Evandro.
- 8:42Speaker 2: I think we did have one of those, and I
- 8:43Speaker 2: hated it. Okay, so you all were the problem, too.
- 8:46Speaker 2: But I don't think we did it, like, during the play.
- 8:49Speaker 2: I was like, if we jump off sides because of
- 8:52Speaker 2: this train horn, I swear.
- 8:54Speaker 3: But it was a fun game last night, fun games
- 8:56Speaker 3: across the city, a little high school football on a
- 8:58Speaker 3: Thursday night. We'll have a lot of action on Friday night,
- 9:01Speaker 3: and we all know what's coming down the tracks on Saturday.
- 9:07Speaker 3: And the slate is bad.
- 9:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:09Speaker 3: So, like, the anticipation to get to LSU Ole Miss
- 9:13Speaker 3: at night. Now, there will be good games because, I mean,
- 9:17Speaker 3: two bad teams can have a good game. But the
- 9:20Speaker 3: slate's not the who's who. Right? Texas Tech and Houston's
- 9:24Speaker 3: a ranked matchup. Louisville SMU's a ranked matchup.
- 9:26Speaker 2: And that's it. Yeah.
- 9:28Speaker 3: Then it is LSU Ole Miss.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Houston, Texas Tech tonight.
- 9:32Speaker 3: Yeah, it is Friday because Big 12 does– Because high
- 9:37Speaker 3: schools don't play on Friday. Well, Big 12, I think,
- 9:39Speaker 3: is doing what we're talking about. They want kind of
- 9:42Speaker 3: a stand, not a standalone because there's other games, but
- 9:45Speaker 3: they want a window in which they know everybody's going
- 9:47Speaker 3: to kind of be at home and want to watch
- 9:50Speaker 3: a game. And on Saturday, maybe you don't turn on
- 9:53Speaker 3: the fighting Willie Fritz against Texas Tech.
- 9:57Speaker 2: But on Friday, absolutely. They must not have looked at
- 10:00Speaker 2: the slate, though.
- 10:01Speaker 3: They could have played very easily on Saturday. Hell, they
- 10:06Speaker 3: could have been Saturday at noon and been just fine.
- 10:08Speaker 4: I'm going to be so intrigued to see how many
- 10:11Speaker 4: eyeballs watch the game. Those stats will come out, like, what,
- 10:15Speaker 4: Monday or something like that?
- 10:16Speaker 3: Like, how many people watch the game?
- 10:17Speaker 2: Typically.
- 10:21Speaker 3: Typically, like a big game like this, I think Texas
- 10:25Speaker 3: and Ohio State got $ 14 million.
- 10:27Speaker 2: Okay.
- 10:27Speaker 3: So usually like around like, you know, 11 to 11, 12,
- 10:31Speaker 3: somewhere like in that range. But then Texas and Ohio
- 10:34Speaker 3: State is going to get $ 14 million. It's going to
- 10:36Speaker 3: get more.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Than $ 14 million. Yeah. I would think so.
- 10:39Speaker 4: Because it's the only thing all day, really.
- 10:42Speaker 2: Yes.
- 10:42Speaker 3: And just the buildup, the anticipation. There's going to be
- 10:45Speaker 3: people hate watching. There's going to be people that are
- 10:47Speaker 3: tuning in to see if something crazy happens. Bless you, Musso. So, like,
- 10:52Speaker 3: you're going to get an audience that doesn't really care
- 10:55Speaker 3: about the outcome of the game or they're just, again, like,
- 10:58Speaker 3: hate watching it to see if LSU is going to,
- 11:00Speaker 3: you know, get beat because we are the team that
- 11:03Speaker 3: everybody's going to be rooting for or rooting against, I
- 11:05Speaker 3: should say. So, I don't know. Like, I don't know
- 11:08Speaker 3: what the common era number is for, I mean, is
- 11:15Speaker 3: 18 million ridiculous?
- 11:16Speaker 2: It'd be south of 20. Yeah. Yeah. Which goes to
- 11:20Speaker 2: show you, like, that it's so crazy.
- 11:22Speaker 4: You know, college football is so awesome.
- 11:24Speaker 2: In the South, in Louisiana, it's like, it's the top dog.
- 11:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:28Speaker 4: It is so crazy, though, looking at the top college
- 11:31Speaker 4: games compared to the top games on Sunday.
- 11:34Speaker 5: Right.
- 11:35Speaker 4: Cowboys-Giants this past week, I'm at, like, 26 million, and
- 11:37Speaker 4: I think that's a pretty standard just Sunday night.
- 11:40Speaker 3: Sunday night football.
- 11:40Speaker 4: Remember, I played a game in Dallas in 2013 when
- 11:44Speaker 4: I came back to Green Bay, and Aaron was hurt,
- 11:47Speaker 4: and it was like, It was like a 3-30 game
- 11:50Speaker 4: in Dallas, and it was like 23 or 24. And
- 11:52Speaker 4: I was like, that was a really random game. So
- 11:56Speaker 4: that's why the Cowboys play a.
- 11:58Speaker 2: Lot in primetime. The Packers and the Cowboys. Yeah, but
- 12:01Speaker 2: there was a backup quarterback playing.
- 12:04Speaker 3: Yeah, he's a slappy, but you're the Packers. They're the Cowboys.
- 12:07Speaker 3: So those numbers are going to be big.
- 12:08Speaker 2: I know. This is like the game that everybody's talked
- 12:11Speaker 2: about all offseason.
- 12:12Speaker 4: I'll be intrigued. It'll definitely be the highest of the
- 12:14Speaker 4: season so far. I would assume the highest this season
- 12:17Speaker 4: until playoff time. I can't imagine that at this microphone.
- 12:22Speaker 3: I can't imagine that any regular season game touches what
- 12:26Speaker 3: we're going to see on Saturday.
- 12:30Speaker 2: I don't think so.
- 12:30Speaker 3: And I'm going to be in attendance.
- 12:32Speaker 2: I mean, for a while, then LSU is going to
- 12:33Speaker 2: be ahead by so much. People will start stopping. Fair enough.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Fair enough. Because we're going to beat them. I got that.
- 12:40Speaker 2: I gathered that. Okay. Yeah.
- 12:43Speaker 4: Well, I'm looking forward to this morning. I'm looking forward
- 12:45Speaker 4: to it. It is a hustle and a bustle around here.
- 12:47Speaker 4: Rouse's is now open. We've got the breakfast bar. It
- 12:50Speaker 4: looks like they've got something I've never seen on the
- 12:52Speaker 4: breakfast bar before. I've got to go check out to
- 12:54Speaker 4: see what that is. You know you're going to get guarded.
- 12:58Speaker 4: Last time you tried to do that, you almost got tackled. Remember,
- 13:03Speaker 4: she came over there and was like, what are you doing?
- 13:05Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. And then she brought hot wings at 7.05.
- 13:08Speaker 2: That's true. We haven't gotten that yet this year. No,
- 13:13Speaker 2: we haven't. Hot wings and egg rolls. Yeah.
- 13:16Speaker 4: And bacon-wrapped shrimp at 715.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Obviously. Who doesn't? Who among us, you know? Uh-huh. All right.
- 13:26Speaker 3: We're going to take a break. We'll get into the matchups.
- 13:30Speaker 3: We'll get into Ole Miss, LSU. We'll get into Saints
- 13:33Speaker 3: and Ravens. We'll go over the full slate of games,
- 13:36Speaker 3: not only in college in the top 25, but but
- 13:39Speaker 3: also in the National Football League. Of course, we've got
- 13:42Speaker 3: all your favorite Friday segments, what's the ticket, pontoon parlay,
- 13:47Speaker 3: and all the things that we do every single Friday.
- 13:49Speaker 3: And we'll do it when we come back here on OTB.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Off the bench.

- 16:38Speaker 3: All right. So, obviously, all week we're going to break
- 16:41Speaker 3: down a matchup like Ole Miss and LSU. And you
- 16:43Speaker 3: get to Friday. I know in the building, and this
- 16:46Speaker 3: is in both buildings, in LSU and over in Oxford,
- 16:50Speaker 3: you're like, okay, have we done enough? Have we covered
- 16:53Speaker 3: everything that we think could possibly show itself on Saturday?
- 16:58Speaker 3: So you have that feeling, but then you hear Matt
- 17:00Speaker 3: and I talk about not chasing ghosts. What does that mean?
- 17:04Speaker 3: It means that you over maybe analyze and over prepare,
- 17:08Speaker 3: and maybe you spend time on something that doesn't need
- 17:11Speaker 3: as much time because you're trying to cover everything every
- 17:14Speaker 3: single thing that possibly could show up and look college
- 17:18Speaker 3: is different than when we played like the old 20
- 17:20Speaker 3: hour rule i'm not really sure even if it is
- 17:22Speaker 3: in place that that.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Does not matter at all no way and.
- 17:25Speaker 3: You don't have to go to class anymore you just
- 17:27Speaker 3: kind of do some online stuff and so it is
- 17:29Speaker 3: a little bit different but you don't have the time
- 17:31Speaker 3: that you have if you're playing at the next level
- 17:34Speaker 3: so this is like friday to me was always a
- 17:36Speaker 3: big hey let's don't chase ghosts we know who they
- 17:38Speaker 3: are they you know they know us we know them
- 17:40Speaker 3: that type of situation let's make sure we hone in
- 17:43Speaker 3: on the main thing. Let's make the main thing the
- 17:45Speaker 3: main thing. And then we know they have some, you know, A, B,
- 17:49Speaker 3: and C off this. A, B, and C off of that.
- 17:51Speaker 3: And we'll cover those things. But Friday to me was
- 17:54Speaker 3: always like, hey, let's know who we are. Let's know
- 17:57Speaker 3: what we want to do. And let's go out there.
- 17:59Speaker 3: Let's execute our game plan in this kind of final tune-up,
- 18:02Speaker 3: this final practice of for LSU before we get on
- 18:05Speaker 3: a plane and head over to, well, Memphis, Tennessee, but
- 18:08Speaker 3: later on Oxford, Mississippi.
- 18:10Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, this is part of the week where
- 18:12Speaker 4: the hay is in the barn, certainly. You're definitely not
- 18:15Speaker 4: installing anything. You're going to do your fast Friday or
- 18:20Speaker 4: your kind of jog through, walk through, maybe it's a
- 18:23Speaker 4: run through type situation. And basically you're going to go over,
- 18:27Speaker 4: you'll go over your first 15 plays in practice today.
- 18:31Speaker 4: And then you will go over your new install plays.
- 18:35Speaker 4: And this is that day where if somebody messes up
- 18:41Speaker 4: in practice or somebody goes the wrong direction or is
- 18:45Speaker 4: not comfortable with a play, it just gets tossed.
- 18:48Speaker 2: It's all right.
- 18:49Speaker 4: Crumble it up. We don't have time. We're not going
- 18:51Speaker 4: to take a chance. This isn't about teaching today. Today
- 18:55Speaker 4: is about reviewing and and showing us that you are
- 18:58Speaker 4: comfortable with what we're doing.
- 18:59Speaker 2: And if somebody is not comfortable.
- 19:02Speaker 4: Especially the quarterback, if they're comfortable, if a receiver messes
- 19:05Speaker 4: up a route, if somebody just doesn't really know what
- 19:07Speaker 4: they're doing and it's not perfect, today's about being perfect
- 19:10Speaker 4: on everything. It gets tossed out, and you just go
- 19:15Speaker 4: on to the next play because you've got plenty of plays,
- 19:17Speaker 4: and you're just kind of reviewing today. It's not a
- 19:20Speaker 4: teaching day. It's about walking through, and you're not hitting anything.
- 19:22Speaker 4: you're probably not even going against each other. You're basically
- 19:25Speaker 4: doing a jog through. We used to do a jog
- 19:27Speaker 4: through in the indoor. Different teams I've been on did
- 19:30Speaker 4: it different ways. But you'll get a little sweat going,
- 19:34Speaker 4: and that's about it. But make sure you know your play.
- 19:37Speaker 4: This is a mental day for sure. He is in
- 19:39Speaker 4: the barn. Get a little sweat going. Get the body
- 19:42Speaker 4: moving a little bit, especially because you've got to go
- 19:46Speaker 4: get on a plane, got to get out of your
- 19:48Speaker 4: comfort zone for a little bit.
- 19:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:51Speaker 4: But, yeah, if there were any mess-ups yesterday, there's a
- 19:55Speaker 4: chance that they got tossed, like the last real practice.
- 19:58Speaker 4: But if there's a play that you really like or
- 20:01Speaker 4: somebody messed it up, but the quarterback really likes it
- 20:03Speaker 4: or the OC really likes it, you'll try to– you'll
- 20:05Speaker 4: teach it, and you might come back today and try
- 20:08Speaker 4: it again. And if it gets messed up again, then
- 20:09Speaker 4: it gets tossed.
- 20:11Speaker 3: The example I always use is, and I was a
- 20:15Speaker 3: rookie and I'll never forget it because, you know, Coach
- 20:17Speaker 3: Miles was.
- 20:18Speaker 2: Big, repeat it.
- 20:20Speaker 3: Like he just, he would repeat a play and repeat
- 20:23Speaker 3: it until he got it right. And it was a
- 20:26Speaker 3: Friday practice. We were about to play the then Oakland
- 20:29Speaker 3: Raiders in North Turner. And we kept trying this play
- 20:32Speaker 3: that we were trying to install. And it wasn't working
- 20:36Speaker 3: for the first couple of days of the week. And
- 20:37Speaker 3: then on Friday we run it and it doesn't work again.
- 20:39Speaker 3: And Our offensive coordinator at the time was like.
- 20:42Speaker 2: Guys, repeat the play again.
- 20:43Speaker 3: Norris was like, we ain't repeating that one. It ain't
- 20:46Speaker 3: worked all week. It's Friday. And I promise you.
- 20:50Speaker 2: It ain't happening.
- 20:51Speaker 3: The Oakland Raiders aren't going to say, hey, you know what?
- 20:53Speaker 3: Let them repeat that one again. Get it out of here.
- 20:56Speaker 3: Funny enough, you know who the head coach of the
- 20:57Speaker 3: Raiders was at the time?
- 21:02Speaker 2: Dennis Allen. Lane Kiffin. Oh, okay. All right. He was
- 21:08Speaker 2: a coach at the Raiders.
- 21:09Speaker 3: How did he do good?
- 21:09Speaker 2: He did okay? He's a Raiders.
- 21:12Speaker 3: Has anybody since John Madden done good? Gruden had some time,
- 21:16Speaker 3: but no, it's the Raiders. You can't have success with
- 21:19Speaker 3: the Raiders. No, no, nobody can. No. It's a dumpster
- 21:23Speaker 3: fire of an organization.
- 21:24Speaker 2: Not even with Fernando.
- 21:27Speaker 3: He's not even playing.
- 21:28Speaker 2: No. He will at some point. And they'll be okay.
- 21:31Speaker 3: Sure.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Maybe.
- 21:34Speaker 3: Did beat the Dolphins, but. So, yeah, if you don't
- 21:38Speaker 3: have it down by now, it's out. And, look, good coaches,
- 21:41Speaker 3: the best coaches, they realize that. Some coaches fall in
- 21:44Speaker 3: love with a play. I'm talking offense and defense. They
- 21:46Speaker 3: fall in love with it, and they try to force
- 21:48Speaker 3: the issue. They try to make it work. And, look,
- 21:50Speaker 3: if it's not working, if it's not ready to go,
- 21:52Speaker 3: if your guy doesn't understand the concept, you've got to
- 21:54Speaker 3: get rid of it. You've got to get it out.
- 21:56Speaker 3: And I feel like this offense, more than any, probably
- 21:59Speaker 3: does that because– They want to do what? They want
- 22:01Speaker 3: to go fast.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Right.
- 22:03Speaker 3: And you can't go fast if you don't understand exactly
- 22:05Speaker 3: what you're trying to get done. And so, like, I
- 22:08Speaker 3: don't know personally, like, what the play sheet looks like. Like,
- 22:11Speaker 3: I don't know if it's, you know, a movie poster
- 22:14Speaker 3: or a note card or somewhere in between. But I
- 22:18Speaker 3: know that this team and the way they go fast,
- 22:22Speaker 3: I wouldn't think you can have chapters to the playbook.
- 22:24Speaker 5: Right?
- 22:24Speaker 3: So it's probably like a pretty– I don't want to
- 22:27Speaker 3: say small, but it's probably– set number of plays that
- 22:31Speaker 3: they feel good about each and every week. And you
- 22:33Speaker 3: got to make sure that you have your best foot forward.
- 22:35Speaker 3: We know all that, but in a matchup like this, Matt,
- 22:39Speaker 3: with somebody that knows some of your personnel, I guess, like,
- 22:43Speaker 3: do you like for you, like, do you worry that
- 22:46Speaker 3: you try to maybe change? And this is really for
- 22:48Speaker 3: both teams. Cause we've talked about how many people are
- 22:51Speaker 3: there that are, you know, here, there, wherever, but, But
- 22:55Speaker 3: in a situation like this, do you worry, man, I
- 22:57Speaker 3: know they know our tendencies or I know they know
- 22:59Speaker 3: we like to do this on third down on offense
- 23:01Speaker 3: or defense and maybe spend a lot of time trying
- 23:04Speaker 3: to change things up? Or do you go with, you know,
- 23:07Speaker 3: the thing they got you here for both teams and
- 23:09Speaker 3: you say we're just going to execute better than they do?
- 23:12Speaker 4: I think it's going to be a little bit of both.
- 23:16Speaker 4: There's going to be. There's only so many receivers you
- 23:19Speaker 4: can have in a play. There's only so many routes
- 23:22Speaker 4: they can run. There's only so many directions you can
- 23:24Speaker 4: go on a pass play. Nobody's creating that many new
- 23:29Speaker 4: plays anymore. Now, you might create different looks to run
- 23:32Speaker 4: the same play, but this comes down to something like
- 23:36Speaker 4: your tendencies. Your tendencies might be a little bit different.
- 23:39Speaker 4: Let's say defensively. you've run strong dog, strong dog, strong
- 23:43Speaker 4: dog for, you know, multiple times, 70% of the time
- 23:47Speaker 4: for the first two weeks. Well, maybe the change-up is
- 23:51Speaker 4: we go weak dog this time, or we do some
- 23:53Speaker 4: different type of pressure. Now, these are all things we
- 23:55Speaker 4: worked on in training camp. It was just a higher,
- 23:59Speaker 4: there was a higher percentage of them the first couple
- 24:01Speaker 4: of weeks.
- 24:02Speaker 2: Take example for Ole Miss.
- 24:04Speaker 4: We talked about this yesterday, and we looked over it
- 24:07Speaker 4: on the Eye of the Sky podcast as well.
- 24:10Speaker 2: It was.
- 24:11Speaker 4: Ole Miss's answer to pressure has been check to a
- 24:14Speaker 4: seven-man protection.
- 24:15Speaker 2: Maybe this week it's check to scat protection.
- 24:18Speaker 4: Maybe it's just an adjustment change because what is Blake
- 24:23Speaker 4: Baker and his defense doing? They see that. They see
- 24:25Speaker 4: that their adjustment is the seven-man protection. So let's bluff,
- 24:28Speaker 4: let's bluff, bluff, bluff, and then back out everybody because
- 24:31Speaker 4: they're going to go to seven-man protection. And they're only
- 24:35Speaker 4: going to have three guys in the route. So let's
- 24:37Speaker 4: drop seven guys, but show like we're going to blitz. Now, maybe,
- 24:40Speaker 4: maybe the answer, cause you can also answer protection or
- 24:43Speaker 4: you can also answer a high pressure and people showing
- 24:48Speaker 4: like bluffing that they're going to blitz. You can answer
- 24:49Speaker 4: that with five man protection and put five out there.
- 24:52Speaker 4: Then it stresses the defense in a different way. So,
- 24:56Speaker 4: you know, maybe the answers are a little bit different
- 24:58Speaker 4: this week for some, for both teams than they have
- 25:01Speaker 4: been the last two, but, all in all like the
- 25:05Speaker 4: scheme is going to be the scheme i think that
- 25:07Speaker 4: you're going there's going to be some adjustment changes.
- 25:10Speaker 2: But you got to beat a man to man.
- 25:12Speaker 3: Like on third down right charlie weiss jr is going
- 25:15Speaker 3: to be like well i know what pete's going to
- 25:16Speaker 3: do on third down and pete's over there well i
- 25:18Speaker 3: know what charlie's going to do on third down at
- 25:20Speaker 3: least in their mind because you practice against each other
- 25:24Speaker 3: for an you know for multiple seasons and as a
- 25:28Speaker 3: staff like you talk about it like pete golding has
- 25:31Speaker 3: probably said how man this this really stresses our defense
- 25:34Speaker 3: just like charlie weiss jr's probably like this really stresses
- 25:37Speaker 3: our offense right and so like when we're talking about
- 25:39Speaker 3: all the things like chasing ghosts and making sure you
- 25:41Speaker 3: have the right game plan you got to decide are
- 25:44Speaker 3: we going to just go with our stuff and say
- 25:46Speaker 3: we're better than you one-on-one you know play by play
- 25:49Speaker 3: whatever it might be or hey we need some wrinkles
- 25:52Speaker 3: we need three or four things it's going to be
- 25:54Speaker 3: a change up and It might not be the best
- 25:56Speaker 3: thing that we do, but we feel like we've got
- 25:58Speaker 3: to do it to change it up because they know
- 26:00Speaker 3: our tendencies or whatever it might be. This is a game,
- 26:02Speaker 3: and my whole point in bringing it up is where
- 26:04Speaker 3: you can drive yourself crazy trying to cover everything that
- 26:08Speaker 3: you think might happen or trying to cover up, and
- 26:11Speaker 3: you have to be careful. I actually think, and people
- 26:15Speaker 3: are going to roll their eyes at this, I think
- 26:17Speaker 3: the road team in a situation like this has the advantage.
- 26:20Speaker 3: Because you've got to get on a plane. You've got
- 26:22Speaker 3: to go travel.
- 26:23Speaker 2: Like, that takes time, where if you're the home team.
- 26:26Speaker 3: You are. You're sitting there, and you're, like, over and
- 26:28Speaker 3: over again. Today, when LSU travels from, you know, I
- 26:32Speaker 3: don't know, 2 to 630, however long it takes us
- 26:34Speaker 3: to get there, right, you're in your facility.
- 26:36Speaker 2: I don't know. You kind of got everybody, like, encapsulated
- 26:39Speaker 2: in a metal tube. Yeah.
- 26:41Speaker 4: And they can just all they have to do for, like,
- 26:43Speaker 4: an hour and a half is talk ball. And I've
- 26:46Speaker 4: seen some funny things happen on a plane with coaches
- 26:48Speaker 4: creating a play or two.
- 26:51Speaker 2: Truly drawing it up in the air. What a spin, though.
- 26:53Speaker 2: The away team has the advantage.
- 26:55Speaker 3: Somebody has told me that. Our coach has told me
- 26:57Speaker 3: that before.
- 26:57Speaker 2: Well, that coach was dumb. Well. That's not true at all.
- 27:00Speaker 2: I think it is. Of course the home team has
- 27:02Speaker 2: the advantage.
- 27:02Speaker 3: No, no, no, no, no. Home team has the advantage.
- 27:04Speaker 2: You don't have to go on a plane. You could
- 27:05Speaker 2: just go. You could go top golf if you're the
- 27:07Speaker 2: home team.
- 27:07Speaker 3: I'm talking about just in the specific part of trying
- 27:10Speaker 3: to continue to add to your game plan. And Chase goes, absolutely,
- 27:14Speaker 3: the home team has the advantage in the game.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Coaches love to overthink.
- 27:19Speaker 4: We always had this running joke in Green Bay that
- 27:22Speaker 4: what the hell do the.
- 27:23Speaker 3: Coaches do this offseason?
- 27:24Speaker 4: What new protection and running scheme did they create in
- 27:27Speaker 4: their offices for the last four months?
- 27:29Speaker 2: All these assistants.
- 27:30Speaker 4: You've got to justify your job every now and then.
- 27:33Speaker 4: They create so many different things. And by the end
- 27:36Speaker 4: of the first week of training camp, all those things
- 27:37Speaker 4: would be thrown out, and you're.
- 27:39Speaker 2: Back to the basics. So, yeah, you can overprepare.
- 27:42Speaker 3: Is that where the keep it simple, stupid?
- 27:45Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, because, look, if you do over-prepare, like, as
- 27:49Speaker 4: a quarterback, you've got to watch film.
- 27:51Speaker 2: You've got to, like, you have to watch a ton
- 27:52Speaker 2: of film. You've got to be very familiar.
- 27:54Speaker 4: But, like, if you focus on the wrong thing, okay,
- 27:57Speaker 4: on this play.
- 27:58Speaker 2: When he has his right foot back six inches on
- 28:02Speaker 2: this particular down and distance.
- 28:05Speaker 4: If you look at those things, you can overdo that
- 28:09Speaker 4: way too much to where all you're doing is thinking
- 28:12Speaker 4: about the preparation and you're not reacting. At the end
- 28:14Speaker 4: of the day, it's still a sport where you've got
- 28:17Speaker 4: to be really athletic. You have to be very athletic.
- 28:20Speaker 4: You've got to be very good at your job. There's
- 28:21Speaker 4: fine motor skills involved. You have to react. And if
- 28:24Speaker 4: you think too much, that gets you a problem. And
- 28:26Speaker 4: so to your point, Like bigger games do have a
- 28:29Speaker 4: tendency to bring out people creating different types of schemes, different,
- 28:36Speaker 4: like creating things that they think might be solutions, but end.
- 28:39Speaker 2: Up creating problems.
- 28:41Speaker 4: So you have to treat it as, as, as much
- 28:44Speaker 4: like any other game as you possibly like it was
- 28:47Speaker 4: a humanly can, because the human nature takes over.
- 28:50Speaker 2: There's a big game.
- 28:51Speaker 4: You want to do things you want to make, but there,
- 28:53Speaker 4: there's an element and an, It's hard to get to
- 28:56Speaker 4: that at college football, I think, for players, but that
- 28:59Speaker 4: you can over-mentally prepare for a game to where it
- 29:02Speaker 4: takes away just the reacting part of it.
- 29:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I feel like we've had games before, and you're right,
- 29:08Speaker 3: more at the next level than the college level, but
- 29:11Speaker 3: we felt like we did over-prepare, and we were a
- 29:14Speaker 3: step slower because of that. Look, I'm not saying you
- 29:17Speaker 3: can't pick up tendencies. If you were playing against the
- 29:20Speaker 3: Ravens and Ed Reed, had his toe pointed sideways, he
- 29:25Speaker 3: was coming. No doubt about it.
- 29:26Speaker 2: If it was forward, he was dropping.
- 29:29Speaker 3: It was a tail he had. Now, it didn't really
- 29:30Speaker 3: matter because you couldn't really do anything even if the
- 29:32Speaker 3: toe was pointed and you knew it.
- 29:34Speaker 2: Oh, God. Which way do I want that toe pointed?
- 29:36Speaker 2: I don't even know. They're both bad.
- 29:38Speaker 3: Like, if he lined up and his... he was on
- 29:41Speaker 3: the left side and his left foot was up and
- 29:43Speaker 3: his toe was pointed towards the offensive line, he was coming.
- 29:45Speaker 3: If it was pointed towards the end zone, he was dropping.
- 29:48Speaker 3: Didn't really matter. Hall of Famer. But those are things
- 29:50Speaker 3: you can pick up. But to your point, if you
- 29:54Speaker 3: try to do all of that and sometimes you try
- 29:56Speaker 3: to have all those tips and reminders, you're going to
- 29:59Speaker 3: play slow.
- 30:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:00Speaker 3: And then you're going to get punched.
- 30:01Speaker 4: And then inevitably you're going to get hit in the mouth.
- 30:04Speaker 4: And the next play you're going to be trying to prepare.
- 30:05Speaker 2: Then you're like, wait. Then you're going to get your
- 30:08Speaker 2: cues all crossed. And it comes into all preparation.
- 30:11Speaker 3: I mean, if you're playing a team that has some
- 30:15Speaker 3: versatile edge rushers, like when we used to play the Packers,
- 30:18Speaker 3: like we used to have a meeting about, okay, how
- 30:21Speaker 3: are we going to treat Clay Matthews? What's Clay Matthews
- 30:23Speaker 3: this week? Is Clay Matthews going to be down no
- 30:25Speaker 3: matter where he's at? Because Clay, like, used to walk
- 30:27Speaker 3: around a little bit. And you have those meetings. And
- 30:30Speaker 3: so you treat certain people differently. But you've got to
- 30:32Speaker 3: come up with a game plan that has, like, these
- 30:35Speaker 3: are the rules. We're not going to bend off these rules.
- 30:37Speaker 3: 52 is going to be down all game long. And
- 30:39Speaker 3: then we're going to base something else off something else.
- 30:41Speaker 3: But we're not worrying about where he's walking. He can
- 30:44Speaker 3: be walking back there with the safeties.
- 30:45Speaker 2: He's down. And he's a down lineman.
- 30:48Speaker 3: And you've got to stick with that so you can
- 30:51Speaker 3: play fast.
- 30:51Speaker 4: It's kind of like us for this show. It's best
- 30:54Speaker 4: not to over-prepare. It's fair. It's read and react. That's
- 31:03Speaker 4: how we live our life. All right, we will take
- 31:05Speaker 4: a break.
- 31:06Speaker 3: We've got more coming your way here live from Rouse's
- 31:08Speaker 3: on Burbank and Lee. A little football Friday here, 7
- 31:11Speaker 3: to 10 a.m., so come hang out with us. Got
- 31:14Speaker 3: some people right there in the background enjoying that breakfast bar.
- 31:17Speaker 3: We're about to partake in that too. Probably more OTB
- 31:20Speaker 3: when we come back.
- 31:21Speaker 1: Off the bench.
- 31:24Speaker 3: All right, go to centralplumbing.org, centralplumbing.org. Now, not only in Central,

- 32:01Speaker 3: That's fun.
- 32:02Speaker 2: I like never-ending hot water. It's also fun when it.
- 32:04Speaker 3: Doesn't run out.
- 32:04Speaker 4: Yeah, tankless water is. Let them install that for you.
- 32:06Speaker 4: If you don't have one yet, just call them and
- 32:09Speaker 4: just talk to them about it, have that conversation. Maybe
- 32:11Speaker 4: turn that water on, and it'll run hot water for hours.
- 32:13Speaker 4: It doesn't even matter. So go give them a call.
- 32:15Speaker 4: They are the experts over at Central Plumbing here in

- 32:29Speaker 5: 2007 champs purple and gold to the core this is
- 32:56Speaker 5: off the bench with hester and flynn baton rouge's go-to
- 33:00Speaker 5: for all things louisiana sports.
- 33:05Speaker 3: All right, welcome back in. OTB here live from Rouse's.
- 33:11Speaker 2: Rouse's, Rouse's, Rouse's.
- 33:13Speaker 3: Go see them. Of course, we talked about the lack
- 33:16Speaker 3: of top 25 matchups this week in college football. And again,
- 33:22Speaker 3: just going down what it looks like.
- 33:25Speaker 2: Oof.
- 33:27Speaker 3: Tonight, you've got number five Miami traveling to Wake Forest.
- 33:32Speaker 3: You've also got number 22, Houston, and number 13, Texas Tech.
- 33:36Speaker 3: So that is one of the three ranked-on-ranked matchups this week.
- 33:39Speaker 3: You've got Portland State, 0-3 Portland State, traveling to Oregon
- 33:44Speaker 3: to take on the 21st-ranked Oregon Ducks. And then on Saturday,
- 33:49Speaker 3: it's number 2, Georgia, traveling to Arkansas. It is Kent
- 33:53Speaker 3: State traveling to number 6, Ohio State. Buffalo traveling to
- 33:57Speaker 3: number 14, Penn State. Kentucky traveling to number 9, Texas
- 34:01Speaker 3: A & M. Florida State traveling to number 10, Alabama.
- 34:06Speaker 3: Number 12, USC traveling to Rutgers. The other ranked on
- 34:10Speaker 3: ranked matchup, number 16, SMU traveling to number 23, Louisville.
- 34:14Speaker 3: You've got Utah State traveling to number 17, Utah. UTEP
- 34:18Speaker 3: traveling to number 19, Michigan. Western Kentucky traveling to number 4, Indiana.
- 34:23Speaker 3: My God, Big Ten, what are you doing? Northern Iowa
- 34:27Speaker 3: traveling to number 18, Iowa. Troy traveling to number 20, Missouri.
- 34:32Speaker 3: Michigan State traveling to number three, Notre Dame. Number 11,
- 34:36Speaker 3: BYU traveling to Colorado State. New Mexico traveling to number 24, Oklahoma.
- 34:42Speaker 3: West Virginia traveling to number 25, Virginia.
- 34:46Speaker 2: Kennesaw State traveling to number 15, Tennessee.
- 34:49Speaker 3: And UTSA traveling to number one, Texas. And, of course,
- 34:53Speaker 3: number seven, LSU traveling to number eight, Ole Miss. And, yes,
- 34:57Speaker 3: those are actual games. That is the slate that we
- 35:00Speaker 3: have coming up. this weekend in college football. And if
- 35:04Speaker 3: you were listening right, you heard right. The Big Ten
- 35:06Speaker 3: opponents this week, Portland State, Kent State, Buffalo, Akron, Eastern Michigan,
- 35:15Speaker 3: Southern Illinois, UTEP, Western Kentucky, Northern Iowa, North Dakota, Eastern Washington, Colorado,
- 35:27Speaker 3: Virginia Tech.
- 35:28Speaker 2: And you do have a Notre Dame in there with
- 35:30Speaker 2: Michigan State. Adjust means less.
- 35:33Speaker 3: Oh, it means directional.
- 35:37Speaker 2: Yeah, that's pretty weak. So Notre Dame's playing somebody?
- 35:40Speaker 3: Michigan State.
- 35:40Speaker 4: Good for them, you know. Good for them. That's a
- 35:45Speaker 4: real big game for them. Is that the game of
- 35:47Speaker 4: the year for them? They're 29-and-a-half point favorites. Okay, that's
- 35:50Speaker 4: probably their tightest odds.
- 35:53Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 35:53Speaker 3: They had Rice last week. They got Purdue next week
- 35:57Speaker 3: on the road. Nobody walks into Boilermaker country and lives
- 36:00Speaker 3: to tell the story.
- 36:01Speaker 2: That's a good point. Really good point. Mascot's super intimidating. Yeah,
- 36:10Speaker 2: Notre Dame's schedule.
- 36:11Speaker 3: They have three ranked games, so we'll see how that
- 36:14Speaker 3: ends up going for the old fighting Irish. And so, yeah,
- 36:17Speaker 3: that brings us back to the point of LSU Ole
- 36:19Speaker 3: Miss certainly going to be all eyeballs on that game.
- 36:22Speaker 3: Because even in I was trying to look at the
- 36:25Speaker 3: actual TV window of that. Because the other rain games,
- 36:32Speaker 3: like you mentioned, you've got one that's going to be
- 36:33Speaker 3: played tonight. And then you've got the, let's see.
- 36:39Speaker 2: SMU.
- 36:40Speaker 3: Yeah, the SMU-Louisville game. I was trying to get a
- 36:42Speaker 3: time on that game. Oh, that's 2.30 Eastern. Sorry, 2.30
- 36:48Speaker 3: Central on ESPN.
- 36:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:50Speaker 3: I'm calling it now. 16 million people. Minimum for LSU
- 36:55Speaker 3: Ole Miss.
- 36:55Speaker 4: I'm going to go 18.5 million people watching LSU Ole Miss.
- 36:58Speaker 3: You're going to go like you're trying to get the number?
- 37:02Speaker 3: I'll go 20. I'll go 20.
- 37:05Speaker 2: No chance. I'll go 20. No chance.
- 37:07Speaker 3: 20 million people. There's people, I think, that in the
- 37:11Speaker 3: Northeast that couldn't care less about college football are going
- 37:15Speaker 3: to watch a little bit of that game.
- 37:16Speaker 2: Just a little hate watch. Intrigue.
- 37:19Speaker 3: I don't really think they care about LSU Ole Miss.
- 37:24Speaker 3: And what they've done in the Northeast.
- 37:25Speaker 4: No, but I think most people will, like, if they
- 37:29Speaker 4: have no opinion on it, they'll just take the opinion
- 37:31Speaker 4: of the people talking.
- 37:32Speaker 2: True. Oh, yeah, okay. I'll hate them, too. That sounds right.
- 37:36Speaker 3: Yeah, that Feinbaum guy on one of the morning shows
- 37:39Speaker 3: that has a different name but it's the same thing,
- 37:41Speaker 3: he said that we shouldn't like them.
- 37:42Speaker 2: Yeah. So.
- 37:44Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 37:46Speaker 2: I'm going 20 million. All right. I'm going 18 and
- 37:50Speaker 2: a half.
- 37:51Speaker 4: But will they be watching Sam Levitt?
- 37:57Speaker 2: He did get upgraded to questionable. There we go. That's
- 38:02Speaker 2: a big deal. Yeah. What does that mean?
- 38:05Speaker 3: It means he's questionable. It means he's probably going to
- 38:07Speaker 3: go warm up and see if he can give it
- 38:08Speaker 3: a go. I mean, you saw the reports yesterday. He
- 38:12Speaker 3: didn't practice this week.
- 38:14Speaker 2: He practiced yesterday. But he practiced yesterday.
- 38:17Speaker 4: That means he warmed up and gave it a go yesterday.
- 38:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:20Speaker 3: And he went from doubtful to questionable.
- 38:21Speaker 2: Yeah. Must have been positive. Must have been. What's hurting
- 38:25Speaker 2: on them? Things. Body parts.
- 38:29Speaker 3: I think back spasms.
- 38:32Speaker 2: Back spasms. Okay. Yeah. I get it. Hey, trust me.
- 38:35Speaker 3: Oh, Joey B's got a little back situation too, but the,
- 38:39Speaker 3: the people online just, it's almost like, can we just
- 38:44Speaker 3: kick off so we can get like, there's some people
- 38:46Speaker 3: that can't put their phone down right now. Like trying
- 38:49Speaker 3: to talk about, you know, Sam Levitt being on the
- 38:52Speaker 3: injury list and just this matchup and, trying to have
- 38:55Speaker 3: all the conspiracy theories that you possibly can have out
- 38:57Speaker 3: there and why LSU is doing it. Look, if he
- 39:00Speaker 3: didn't practice, which that was the report that we saw,
- 39:03Speaker 3: all right, if he didn't practice, then he's on the
- 39:06Speaker 3: injury report. If you don't practice a day, you could
- 39:09Speaker 3: be down for it.
- 39:10Speaker 4: And, look, it's week three, so nobody's just giving him–
- 39:13Speaker 4: nobody's swiping the seniority card week three in the Ole
- 39:17Speaker 4: Miss game. There was something happening. He's just not taking
- 39:20Speaker 4: off practice because, you know, he's a senior.
- 39:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 39:22Speaker 2: No. And, like, he just didn't.
- 39:24Speaker 3: Want to practice that day. You would take off on
- 39:25Speaker 3: Monday if you did that.
- 39:26Speaker 4: Yeah, you took off for a reason. So there is
- 39:28Speaker 4: something hurting you. Now, the good part, if he ends
- 39:31Speaker 4: up not being able to go or if he tries
- 39:33Speaker 4: to give it a go and he can't, like, Landon
- 39:35Speaker 4: Clark is taking all of the number one reps.
- 39:39Speaker 2: Right.
- 39:40Speaker 3: Tuesday and Wednesday.
- 39:41Speaker 2: Yeah. So, that is a good situation to be in.
- 39:44Speaker 4: Sam's taking all the one reps for all of training
- 39:47Speaker 4: camp and he's been the number one guy.
- 39:49Speaker 2: So, And all of summer.
- 39:50Speaker 4: So, like, I feel better about that because Landon has
- 39:54Speaker 4: come in, and he does look like a little clone
- 39:56Speaker 4: of Sam. And, like, he looks the part. And he's
- 39:59Speaker 4: gotten the one rep. So he is familiar with the
- 40:01Speaker 4: game plan. And if he goes in, you never want
- 40:03Speaker 4: your backup to have to go play. But as one
- 40:05Speaker 4: that was a backup, it can absolutely work. So we'll
- 40:10Speaker 4: see what happens. We'll see what doubtful to questionable really means. But,
- 40:13Speaker 4: I mean, hey, look, it's a step in the right direction.
- 40:16Speaker 2: No, it is.
- 40:17Speaker 3: And, again, I told you, and this is no slander
- 40:20Speaker 3: towards Sam Levitt, like you want your starting quarterback to play,
- 40:24Speaker 3: but I was eye-hustling the T.J. Dottery portion of it.
- 40:27Speaker 2: Yeah, still am.
- 40:28Speaker 3: A guy like that in this matchup, and we can
- 40:31Speaker 3: take a break and talk about it on the other side,
- 40:33Speaker 3: a guy like that in this matchup, knowing what Ole
- 40:36Speaker 3: Miss wants to do with Lacey and Trinidad Chambliss in
- 40:38Speaker 3: the run game, I mean, he is critical because six
- 40:42Speaker 3: opens up things for seven, seven opens up things for six.
- 40:46Speaker 3: And that pairing together in the middle has been dynamic.
- 40:49Speaker 2: Best in the country.
- 40:50Speaker 3: All right, we will take a break. We've got more
- 40:52Speaker 3: OTB when we come back here live from Rouse's.
- 40:56Speaker 1: Off the bench.
- 40:58Speaker 3: All right, go to pelicanroof.com, the website for our friends
- 41:00Speaker 3: over at Pelican Roofing in Baton Rouge and Lafayette.
- 41:04Speaker 2: Boots on the ground.
- 41:05Speaker 3: In both locations, not driving back and forth on the basin.
- 41:08Speaker 3: They are there in the local communities. The community means
- 41:11Speaker 3: a lot to them. You learn that right when you
- 41:14Speaker 3: meet with Pelican Roofing. Now, remember, they've got over 600
- 41:18Speaker 3: five-star reviews on their homepage. Those come in organically. Those
- 41:22Speaker 3: are not cherry-picked. As they get a review, they put
- 41:24Speaker 3: the review. And so you're going to see exactly who
- 41:27Speaker 3: you're working with. And remember, the consultation for them to
- 41:30Speaker 3: come out, if you don't have an issue, it is free.
- 41:33Speaker 3: And if they find an issue, they're going to say, hey,
- 41:35Speaker 3: this is a repair. It's not a full replacement. If
- 41:38Speaker 3: you need a full replacement, they're going to do that
- 41:40Speaker 3: for you as well. Go to pelicanroof.com.
- 41:43Speaker 4: Yeah, and if you need a complete, full, new roof,
- 41:47Speaker 4: we get it. It's a big decision for you and
- 41:48Speaker 4: your family. It's a big decision financially. They can help
- 41:51Speaker 4: you the entire step of the process. You can start
- 41:54Speaker 4: that at their website, pelicanroof.com, that whole financing process. Let
- 41:59Speaker 4: them help you get that brand new roof the best
- 42:01Speaker 4: in the business.
- 42:01Speaker 2: Go to pelicanroof.com. Tigers turn talkers. This is Off The Bench.
- 42:38Speaker 3: All right, welcome back in. OTB here live from Rouse's
- 42:41Speaker 3: on Burbank and Lee continuing to talk LSU and Ole Miss.
- 42:46Speaker 3: We've talked about it throughout the week, but certainly one
- 42:49Speaker 3: of the matchups that we think is going to be
- 42:51Speaker 3: critical in this one is the LSU linebackers, TJ Daugherty,
- 42:57Speaker 3: Whit Weeks going against Ke'Juan Lacy in the backfield and
- 43:01Speaker 3: Trinidad Chambliss, too, in the run game and how you
- 43:04Speaker 3: can contain him as a runner. Now, a lot of
- 43:07Speaker 3: that falls on the edge rushers, making sure that they
- 43:11Speaker 3: rush the right way and they don't just run the
- 43:12Speaker 3: rail and, you know, they got to keep containing all
- 43:15Speaker 3: those things. But Ole Miss is going to have some
- 43:17Speaker 3: design quarterback runs. And we broke down one of the
- 43:20Speaker 3: cue counters that they had on Eye in the Sky.
- 43:23Speaker 3: And again, we just dropped the latest episode. Nice job
- 43:26Speaker 3: by Alondra putting that together. It's on our YouTube page,
- 43:29Speaker 3: Eye in the Sky. And it's taking a look at
- 43:32Speaker 3: Ole Miss offensively and kind of some of the things
- 43:35Speaker 3: they've done well, some of the things that they struggle
- 43:37Speaker 3: with in their game against Louisville, and what we think
- 43:39Speaker 3: Blake Baker is going to try to do to slow
- 43:42Speaker 3: down that Ole Miss offense. But for me, that's the matchup.
- 43:45Speaker 3: I think it's the LSU linebackers against this Ole Miss offense.
- 43:48Speaker 3: I think you have a different level of athlete next
- 43:52Speaker 3: to Whit Weeks. And look, a guy like Devon Keyes
- 43:56Speaker 3: is going to play in this game. Devon Keyes played
- 43:57Speaker 3: a lot of football, and he's certainly going to have
- 43:59Speaker 3: a role in this game. The tandem that you've had
- 44:03Speaker 3: so far with T.J. Dottery and Wood Weeks, you said it,
- 44:05Speaker 3: it's one of, if not the best in the nation,
- 44:07Speaker 3: just athletically, physically, mentally, they've been really good. That is
- 44:12Speaker 3: where I think LSU can win this game with those
- 44:15Speaker 3: two guys in the middle.
- 44:16Speaker 4: Yeah, they play the position the way it's meant to
- 44:20Speaker 4: be played. They play it instinctually. They play it fast.
- 44:23Speaker 4: They play downhill. They play smart, athletic. They've got really
- 44:28Speaker 4: good hips. They can make the turn really quick. Changed
- 44:31Speaker 4: direction very good. But what's going to really make the
- 44:35Speaker 4: difference this week against this offense is how instinctual they are.
- 44:39Speaker 4: They are very high football IQ guys, and when they
- 44:42Speaker 4: see something, they spot it, and they go full speed
- 44:44Speaker 4: like they're shot out of a cannon. And they're going
- 44:46Speaker 4: to get a lot of eye candy thrown at them
- 44:48Speaker 4: this week. We saw, like Jake said, we broke it down.
- 44:50Speaker 4: There is a quarterback counter. There is an element to this.
- 44:54Speaker 4: We know how good Trinidad Chambliss is and can be
- 44:57Speaker 4: with his arm, with his feet, and with an offense
- 45:01Speaker 4: designed to try to make the most out of those things.
- 45:04Speaker 4: So they're going to give you a lot. They're going
- 45:06Speaker 4: to fake a jet sweep, and then they're going to
- 45:07Speaker 4: fake a pitch to the running back, and then they're
- 45:09Speaker 4: going to run him up behind a tight end and
- 45:12Speaker 4: a tackle that are pulling.
- 45:14Speaker 2: So there's a lot to look at left to right.
- 45:16Speaker 4: The linebackers have to look at a lot to make
- 45:18Speaker 4: sure to find the ball before they can react. Well,
- 45:22Speaker 4: Ole Miss hasn't played a pair of linebackers that are
- 45:26Speaker 4: this instinctual and this smart. And, again, the safeties as well.
- 45:30Speaker 4: they are going to Marcus Cooley, Ty Benefield. They are
- 45:33Speaker 4: going to have to have a game, and I think
- 45:35Speaker 4: they are going to be some of those guys that
- 45:36Speaker 4: show out, and you're like, oh, my God, those are players.
- 45:38Speaker 4: After this week, because they hadn't really had to do
- 45:40Speaker 4: much so far.
- 45:41Speaker 2: True. After this week, you're going to be like, those
- 45:42Speaker 2: guys are players. All right.
- 45:44Speaker 3: Obviously, we'll continue breaking down the biggest game of the week,
- 45:47Speaker 3: the biggest game maybe in a very, very long time
- 45:50Speaker 3: as far as the implications of what it's going to
- 45:52Speaker 3: mean for the winner when we come back here on OTB.
- 45:56Speaker 1: Off the Bench.
- 45:59Speaker 2: Maybe just bragging rights alone.
- 46:01Speaker 3: All right, when it comes to your health, you want
