- 0:12Hello friends, it is Sean here and it is Friday and I am here
- 0:17to say to you, well done and you have made it to the end of
- 0:20another week. Did this week go fast for anyone
- 0:22else or is that just me? Here we are and it's Friday and
- 0:26we get to read a Psalm together. And this is a happy Psalm.
- 0:30This is a Psalm of praise. This is a Psalm for the choir
- 0:36director. A Psalm of ASAP to be
- 0:38accompanied by a stringed instrument.
- 0:41Isn't that interesting. A stringed instrument, Just one.
- 0:45And it doesn't even tell you which one.
- 0:46So you can choose which stringed instrument you like playing in
- 0:49the background. As I read this Fascinating,
- 0:52fascinating This is a song. Try again.
- 0:56This is a Psalm, which is a song which is an appeal from God to
- 1:01Israel. So as we round out our weeks, we
- 1:06say, come, Holy Spirit, move us and shape us by your words that
- 1:13we might become more like you. All right, friends, let us read
- 1:19together. Psalm 81.
- 1:33Sing praises to God our strength.
- 1:36Sing to the God of Jacob. Sing.
- 1:39Beat the trampoline. Play the sweet liar in the harp.
- 1:43Blow the Rams horn at new moon and again at full moon to call
- 1:48the festival, for this is required by the decrees of
- 1:51Israel. It is a regulation of the God of
- 1:54Jacob. He made it a law for Israel when
- 1:58he attacked Egypt to set us free.
- 2:01I heard an unknown voice say. Now I will take the load from
- 2:06your shoulders. I will free your hands from the
- 2:09heavy tasks. You cried to me in trouble, and
- 2:13I saved you. I answered out of the
- 2:16thundercloud and tested your faith where there was no water
- 2:19at Meriba. Listen to me, oh people, while I
- 2:24give you stern warnings. Oh, Israel, if you would only
- 2:29listen to me. You must never have a foreign
- 2:32God. You must not bow down before a
- 2:35false God, for it was I, the Lord your God who rescued you
- 2:41from the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide and I will
- 2:46fill it with good things. But no, my people wouldn't
- 2:50listen. Israel did not want me around,
- 2:54so I let them follow their own stubborn desires, living
- 2:57according to their own ideas. All that my people would listen
- 3:02to me. All that Israel would follow me,
- 3:06walking in my paths. How quickly I would then subdue
- 3:11their enemies, how soon my hands would be upon their foes.
- 3:16Those who hate the Lord would cringe before him.
- 3:20They would be doomed forever. But I would feed you with the
- 3:24finest wheat. I would satisfy you with wild
- 3:29honey from the rock. Thank you for just waiting on
- 3:43the sidelines. Abundant blessings in your arms,
- 3:47waiting to just shower us with everything that you have for us.
- 3:54Thank you that you are a good, good father and that you love us
- 3:58so dearly. All we need do is turn to you
- 4:04and say yes. And so we do that we turn to you
- 4:09and we say yes. Yes, we choose you.
- 4:13Yes, we choose to live your way. Yes, we choose to believe that
- 4:17it's not what we do, but it's everything that Jesus did for us
- 4:21that saves us. Yes, we want to be your
- 4:27children. Yes, we will take your generous
- 4:30forgiveness. Yes, we are loved.
- 4:37Thank you for being a God of abundant blessing.
- 4:39And we thank you for all the blessings that we will enjoy
- 4:43from you even today. We love you so much and we are
- 4:49so grateful for how kind you are to us, Our Heavenly Father, I'm
- 4:54in.
