- 0:00Speaker 1: Hallmark Movies and Mysteries is either mystery or misery.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Well, so I think that's accurate.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Hey, everybody, welcome to a Girl's Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark
- 0:26Speaker 1: review podcast.
- 0:27Speaker 2: I'm Megan and I'm a lifelong Hallmark movie fan.
- 0:30Speaker 3: I'm Wendy, and I'm no fun because you should never
- 0:33Speaker 3: ever release balloons into the sky like ever in my
- 0:37Speaker 3: notes too.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Okay, good.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Today we're discussing Unexpected Grace, which originally aired on March
- 0:43Speaker 1: twelfth on the Hallmark Movies and Mysteries Channel.
- 0:46Speaker 2: If you'd like to connect with.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Us outside of the podcast, we'd love for you to
- 0:49Speaker 1: follow us on Instagram, where we are both at Girls
- 0:53Speaker 1: Gone Hallmark and at Megan and Wendy, and.
- 0:56Speaker 3: We'd like to invite you to come join our exclive
- 1:00Speaker 3: private Facebook group, Girls Gone Hallmark Aliba link in the
- 1:04Speaker 3: show notes.
- 1:06Speaker 1: There's not a ton of new Hallmark news and notes
- 1:08Speaker 1: because this is our second time hitting that Hallmark train
- 1:14Speaker 1: this week, but I do have some ratings information. Game
- 1:17Speaker 1: of Love, which we reviewed earlier this week, was the
- 1:20Speaker 1: seventh most watched cable program on Saturday night, with one
- 1:24Speaker 1: point four million viewers, behind only sports. It is college
- 1:28Speaker 1: basketball on college basketball. On college basketball right now?
- 1:31Speaker 3: Yeah, Wow, that's exciting, that's good news. I'm thinking that
- 1:36Speaker 3: Unexpected Grace maybe didn't do that well because the Oscars
- 1:43Speaker 3: were up against it. You know, I don't know how
- 1:45Speaker 3: many people are watching the Oscars these days, but I'm
- 1:48Speaker 3: gonna say it's probably more than this movie. Perhaps not.
- 1:53Speaker 2: I don't know. I'm curious to see when that comes out. Well,
- 1:56Speaker 2: actually it is out.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Hold on, Oh tell me.
- 1:59Speaker 2: You bring up a good point. And I'm curious how
- 2:00Speaker 2: many people were watching the Oscars. I have that right here.
- 2:04Speaker 1: So the Oscars had eighteen million viewers.
- 2:11Speaker 2: Wow, which seems like a lot.
- 2:12Speaker 1: It was the number one show on Sunday Night, although
- 2:15Speaker 1: technically it falls into a different comparison category because.
- 2:19Speaker 2: That's network programming and we're talking about cable props.
- 2:21Speaker 3: Oh you're right, yes, yes, but again.
- 2:23Speaker 1: That is where the lion's share of television viewers were
- 2:27Speaker 1: on Sunday night. Unexpected Grace didn't do very well. It
- 2:30Speaker 1: had about six hundred thousand viewers. And what I would
- 2:33Speaker 1: like to do is hold out for the live plus
- 2:35Speaker 1: three ratings because I think it's gonna do well if
- 2:37Speaker 1: people are catching up post Oscars.
- 2:39Speaker 3: Viewing. I hope so, and I hope that they hear
- 2:42Speaker 3: this podcast and go, oh, I need to watch that movie.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Yeah, we have a new movie being teased for Hallmark
- 2:51Speaker 1: Movies and Mysteries starring one Miss Jodi Sweeten.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Oh really.
- 2:56Speaker 1: She teased that she is working on a mystery that
- 2:59Speaker 1: will be out this spring. She did not name a title,
- 3:02Speaker 1: but said it's based on the Jane da Silva mysteries.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Jane DeSilva is a character in four novels from the
- 3:09Speaker 1: nineties written by KK Beck. I don't know anything about those,
- 3:16Speaker 1: neither do I zero things. No, they are they're They're quiet,
- 3:22Speaker 1: little novels, I think. But I am excited for a
- 3:25Speaker 1: Jodie Sweeten mystery franchise. And I say franchise. We don't
- 3:29Speaker 1: actually know that, but often we already we know we
- 3:32Speaker 1: have four books to build off of, so I think
- 3:35Speaker 1: ultimately their goal is to build these out into a franchise.
- 3:38Speaker 3: And spring, I'm guessing we're gonna see that any time
- 3:42Speaker 3: between now and May.
- 3:44Speaker 2: It's got to be soon. Yeah, I would think we
- 3:46Speaker 2: already have.
- 3:47Speaker 1: All of our April movies and nounce, so let's say
- 3:49Speaker 1: probably May, okay, and that's all I got for a Hallmark.
- 3:53Speaker 2: News and Notes.
- 3:54Speaker 3: Nay, thank you, you are welcome.
- 3:57Speaker 2: Ready for synopsis?
- 3:58Speaker 3: I am. When lonely young Grace finds a note from
- 4:02Speaker 3: a schoolgirl looking for a friend, she excitedly writes back,
- 4:06Speaker 3: setting off a chain of events that ultimately changes the
- 4:09Speaker 3: lives of three people, stars Erica Durance and Michael Rady Rady.
- 4:16Speaker 1: I want to tell you that I have been in
- 4:19Speaker 1: my mind all this time we've been. Michael Rady's been
- 4:21Speaker 1: in ten Hallmark movies. This is his tenth, and in
- 4:24Speaker 1: my mind I have been conflating him with actor Tom
- 4:28Speaker 1: Cavanaugh because I was remembering, misremembering Michael Rady in a show,
- 4:33Speaker 1: and I even this morning googled Michael Rady Bowling Alley Show. No, No,
- 4:38Speaker 1: that show was called ed it started Tom Cavanaugh, we'll
- 4:41Speaker 1: do a side by side for you. Okay, they're similar,
- 4:44Speaker 1: But this entire time I was like, he was in
- 4:46Speaker 1: that Bowling Alley show with Claire Bowen that I really like.
- 4:49Speaker 2: No, he was not.
- 4:49Speaker 1: I apologize Michael Rady. He has been in quite a
- 4:53Speaker 1: bit though, including Timeless, the rebooted Melrose Place, Unreal, Wendy's
- 4:58Speaker 1: Favorite Movie, on New Years Resolution, on the Hallmark Channel.
- 5:02Speaker 3: You know he also played the Greek hottie in the
- 5:05Speaker 3: two thousand and five Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Oh did he? I saw them? Did? I didn't realize
- 5:11Speaker 2: who he was? Yeah?
- 5:13Speaker 3: That funny.
- 5:14Speaker 2: He was also in the TV show Greek. Yeah.
- 5:17Speaker 3: Yes, he has a pretty deep resume.
- 5:19Speaker 2: I really does, he does. Say. Jane the Virgin was
- 5:23Speaker 2: in there too, and I love that show. Yeah, isn't
- 5:26Speaker 2: that wild?
- 5:27Speaker 3: Yeah? Also this starred Erica Durant say, as I said before,
- 5:30Speaker 3: she plays grieving mom Noel. She was last seen in
- 5:33Speaker 3: We Need a Little Christmas, Color, My World with Love
- 5:36Speaker 3: and North's Home all in twenty twenty two. Plus she
- 5:40Speaker 3: was in Lifetimes Girl in the Shed the kidnapping of
- 5:43Speaker 3: Abbie Hernandez, which I watched.
- 5:45Speaker 2: She played them in that movie. I did.
- 5:48Speaker 1: They talked about on our favorite radio show, Jeff Lewis Live.
- 5:53Speaker 3: They do they talk about the Girl in the Shed
- 5:56Speaker 3: franchise because I think one of their like regular guest
- 6:00Speaker 3: either directs or writes or she's a starz in Lifetime director. Yeah.
- 6:07Speaker 1: So anyway, this reminded me that you and I still
- 6:10Speaker 1: need to watch North to Home because it stars Erica
- 6:12Speaker 1: Duranz and Kimberly Sastad.
- 6:13Speaker 2: I feel like we're really missing out on that movie.
- 6:15Speaker 3: I know I need to like google the next time
- 6:18Speaker 3: that airs, put it in my friendly app something.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Yeah, something. Hey. The story credit for.
- 6:23Speaker 1: This movie goes to Eugenia Zuckerman, who, by the way,
- 6:27Speaker 1: is seventy nine years old and this is her first
- 6:29Speaker 1: writing credit.
- 6:30Speaker 2: So you guys, do not give up.
- 6:32Speaker 3: Isn't that wild? I loved that. I was like, wait,
- 6:36Speaker 3: I had to take out my calculator and now she
- 6:39Speaker 3: had like co written a book with her sister too,
- 6:42Speaker 3: but has no film writing credits.
- 6:44Speaker 2: Yeah, isn't that so cool?
- 6:46Speaker 3: The teleplay is written by Mark Hefti, who has sixteen
- 6:50Speaker 3: writing credits, including eight Dickens of a Holiday, My Christmas
- 6:53Speaker 3: Family Tree, Beverly Hill's Wedding. I like two out of
- 6:57Speaker 3: three of those movies and was writing, I have to
- 7:01Speaker 3: go back and watch a Dickens of the Holiday. I'm sorry, Yes,
- 7:04Speaker 3: I remember the first time I watched it, I didn't
- 7:06Speaker 3: really love it, but I know a lot of people did,
- 7:08Speaker 3: so I it's on my.
- 7:10Speaker 2: List to watch again. All opinions are valid.
- 7:14Speaker 3: Well, this was before like I realized how good of
- 7:17Speaker 3: an actor Christopher paulaha Is, So.
- 7:20Speaker 1: I just need to go back and well, un to
- 7:23Speaker 1: your credit, you did call out his acting in a
- 7:26Speaker 1: positive way in that movie.
- 7:27Speaker 3: He was really good in this like monologue scene. Yeah,
- 7:32Speaker 3: all right.
- 7:33Speaker 1: This was directed by Linda Lisa Hayter. She has nine
- 7:36Speaker 1: directing credits, including five More Minutes Right in Front of
- 7:39Speaker 1: Me and Christmas in Evergreen Bells Are Ringing.
- 7:42Speaker 3: She also she also directed a Lifetime movie called Dirty
- 7:46Speaker 3: Little Secrets starring Melissa Joan Hart. I haven't seen it,
- 7:50Speaker 3: but it's about hoarding and I was like, Oh, that
- 7:53Speaker 3: seems like something I would like to watch to go on.
- 7:55Speaker 2: Your watch list.
- 7:57Speaker 3: The picture is like the movie poster pictures like Melissa
- 8:02Speaker 3: Jonhart and like a daughter in the background is just
- 8:04Speaker 3: like stacks and stacks of stuff inside their house. I
- 8:08Speaker 3: was like, oh, yeah, I'm into it. Yeah, I gotta
- 8:09Speaker 3: watch it. This was filmed in Vancouver and it was
- 8:11Speaker 3: reported to be negative fifteen degrees celsius or about zero
- 8:17Speaker 3: degrees fahrenheit during the filming of this movie.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Yeah, real cold. They had the opposite problem.
- 8:22Speaker 1: They had to make a movie film in the winter,
- 8:24Speaker 1: look like it was filmed in spring.
- 8:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess that's the problem you have when you
- 8:30Speaker 3: I mean, our weather is so weird right now, so
- 8:31Speaker 3: they could be making they should be making Christmas movies
- 8:34Speaker 3: right now, right, I think, seriously?
- 8:37Speaker 2: Right.
- 8:37Speaker 3: One final thing too. Erica Tremblay plays daughter Grace. She was.
- 8:42Speaker 3: She has a uncredited role in the Tyler Hines movie
- 8:47Speaker 3: Always Amore.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Yeah. This is her fourth Hallmark movie.
- 8:51Speaker 1: She was also in Perfect Match and Hope at Christmas.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Yeah, but those she had to be young in those movies.
- 8:58Speaker 3: Right.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Are you ready for your first impress of this movie?
- 9:01Speaker 3: Sure? And it's a simple one.
- 9:02Speaker 1: This movie wrecked Me, wrecked Me, same page mine is.
- 9:07Speaker 1: I would like an apology from Homemark for breaking my
- 9:10Speaker 1: heart so sad.
- 9:12Speaker 3: It was so sad, but it had a nice ending.
- 9:15Speaker 1: It had a lovely ending, and I think you know
- 9:18Speaker 1: all the perspective in the world here. You and I
- 9:21Speaker 1: are the mothers of teenagers and we both have tween
- 9:24Speaker 1: and teenage daughters, and this.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Really hit me.
- 9:28Speaker 3: M all right, let's talk about what you liked about it.
- 9:34Speaker 1: I think this is a really well done look at grief.
- 9:39Speaker 1: It's kind of messy and their behavior is imperfect, and
- 9:43Speaker 1: that makes it kind of hard to watch. Not in
- 9:47Speaker 1: a the acting is bad way, but in a oh,
- 9:49Speaker 1: this is making me feel things I don't really want
- 9:51Speaker 1: to feel. Watching all mark on the movie, this wasn't
- 9:54Speaker 1: very escapist in many ways. Oh sure, yeah, but I
- 9:59Speaker 1: think they did an nice job tackling grief in a
- 10:02Speaker 1: lot of forms.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Well, you know what.
- 10:04Speaker 3: To your point, there was a Christmas movie. It was
- 10:06Speaker 3: called Our Italian Christmas Memories during the Christmas time. I
- 10:09Speaker 3: don't think you saw it. It was on h M
- 10:11Speaker 3: and M. It was definitely not an escapist movie. It
- 10:14Speaker 3: was about the father of the family had dementia or
- 10:18Speaker 3: Alzheimer's and it was so heartbreaking. And I gotta say,
- 10:23Speaker 3: I like the like I like realistic movies. I know
- 10:28Speaker 3: people want to watch like movies and TV too, like
- 10:31Speaker 3: run away from their real lives. But I'm okay with
- 10:34Speaker 3: a sprinkling of it.
- 10:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree. I agree.
- 10:37Speaker 3: So this movie was really like that for me too.
- 10:39Speaker 3: I I overall really enjoyed the story and I was
- 10:45Speaker 3: happy that these two families could come together in the
- 10:48Speaker 3: wake of grief.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Yes, I think in this movie the casting was spot
- 10:54Speaker 1: on For me. I cannot think of another acting pair
- 11:02Speaker 1: that I would have rather have playing these roles. I
- 11:04Speaker 1: think Erica Trump's not Erica Trembla, excuse me. Erica Durance
- 11:08Speaker 1: is the perfect grieving mother in this movie, and Michael Rady.
- 11:13Speaker 2: Plays the single father role.
- 11:15Speaker 1: I just think the roles are cast so well.
- 11:18Speaker 2: The chemistry the two have together, it just works.
- 11:23Speaker 3: I agree. I thought they were excellent in these roles.
- 11:26Speaker 3: Especially Michael Brady.
- 11:27Speaker 2: I thought was I just thought he was so good.
- 11:32Speaker 3: I was like, I want him more on Hallmark Channel. Yeah,
- 11:35Speaker 3: he's busy doing a lot of other stuff, but I'm like,
- 11:38Speaker 3: can we get him in a movie more than like
- 11:40Speaker 3: once every three years?
- 11:41Speaker 2: Right?
- 11:42Speaker 3: I liked him, And I want to say shout out
- 11:44Speaker 3: to Erica Tremblay too, who nailed the annoyed teenager.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:51Speaker 3: I know she's like thirteen or fourteen, but like she
- 11:54Speaker 3: nailed it. I was like, oh, man, I've seen this face.
- 11:56Speaker 3: I've heard these reactions in my own house from my
- 11:58Speaker 3: own teenager. She did a great job.
- 12:01Speaker 2: I think so too.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Speaking of Michael Rady, I really liked the arc that
- 12:06Speaker 1: they gave single dad Jack in this movie. You know,
- 12:09Speaker 1: he started off his daughter's having a hard time making friends,
- 12:13Speaker 1: and he's like, oh, just be nice to people.
- 12:14Speaker 2: And I can totally remember.
- 12:17Speaker 1: I could totally see my parents saying that, like just
- 12:19Speaker 1: be nice when you'll make friends. Come on, that's not
- 12:21Speaker 1: good advice, dad. And she's struggling in school and he's like, oh,
- 12:25Speaker 1: just try harder, and I kind of remember feeling like
- 12:27Speaker 1: you need to step up, like she needs you.
- 12:30Speaker 2: And then he does, and.
- 12:31Speaker 1: He shows up and talks to their teacher and tries
- 12:33Speaker 1: to figure out how to make it better. And I
- 12:35Speaker 1: think we see he's figuring it out too, He's doing
- 12:38Speaker 1: it on his own.
- 12:40Speaker 2: That's what I wrote.
- 12:40Speaker 3: I really enjoyed the character of Jack because he didn't
- 12:43Speaker 3: have it all figured out. He was like learning how
- 12:46Speaker 3: to be a widow. He was learning how to date again,
- 12:49Speaker 3: learning how to connect with this teenager.
- 12:51Speaker 2: And like.
- 12:53Speaker 3: It was just nice to watch somebody on TV who
- 12:58Speaker 3: didn't have the whole parent game down. Like I hear
- 13:02Speaker 3: what you're saying about, Like, yes, he needed to step
- 13:04Speaker 3: it up, and he does, which is great, but like
- 13:08Speaker 3: it's nice to see like a realistic view of parenting.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Yeah, he needed, he needed to be struggling. He was
- 13:16Speaker 1: still figuring out life on his own, and I kind
- 13:19Speaker 1: of like it all comes together towards the end when
- 13:22Speaker 1: Noel I don't know why I said it like that,
- 13:24Speaker 1: Noel offers to have Grace stay with her when he
- 13:28Speaker 1: goes off to Portland and he goes real like daddy bear.
- 13:32Speaker 1: In that moment, she's like, she stays with me, like
- 13:35Speaker 1: he knows that he can do it.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Yeah. I really enjoyed that.
- 13:39Speaker 3: Hey, I gotta say, I love the vulnerability that David
- 13:42Speaker 3: Atar he played grieving dad Brian when he comes out
- 13:47Speaker 3: to the cabin and he's just like I miss her,
- 13:51Speaker 3: and I was like, oh my gosh. And what I
- 13:54Speaker 3: really enjoyed too, is that we didn't have a movie
- 13:57Speaker 3: where two exes hated each other like it was it
- 14:00Speaker 3: just their circumstances. They had this daughter that died and
- 14:03Speaker 3: their marriage suffered because of that a lot like what
- 14:07Speaker 3: we've been talking about on the way home. Yes, but
- 14:11Speaker 3: you didn't have like these two people who were like
- 14:13Speaker 3: there was intension between them. It just was like, this
- 14:16Speaker 3: is where we're at and it.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Sucks, like their story is over, but they're still on
- 14:23Speaker 1: the same team.
- 14:25Speaker 3: And then that makes way for like it easier for
- 14:27Speaker 3: her to get together with Jack. We weren't like, oh,
- 14:31Speaker 3: she's cheating on her husband. You know, like what we've
- 14:34Speaker 3: been critical about like lately with some of them.
- 14:37Speaker 1: She says, I don't regret my time with you, like
- 14:40Speaker 1: we had something really special. It just forever. That's a
- 14:44Speaker 1: really beautiful look at marriage. Like the ridge didn't fail,
- 14:47Speaker 1: It just didn't last an entire lifetime.
- 14:49Speaker 3: That is the scene where they are in the kitchen
- 14:51Speaker 3: and she thanks him for giving her tony and I
- 14:55Speaker 3: was just like, oh mg, I am a mess.
- 14:59Speaker 2: It was so good. Yeah, so good. Anything else you liked,
- 15:03Speaker 2: that's it.
- 15:04Speaker 3: Okay, let's move on to what did you wish for?
- 15:08Speaker 1: Well, you already said it. My one wish is no
- 15:11Speaker 1: balloon release.
- 15:12Speaker 3: Sorry, yeah, Well, in the did you see that? Like
- 15:17Speaker 3: at the end, it sounds like they dub in a
- 15:20Speaker 3: voice over about biodegradable balloons.
- 15:23Speaker 1: Oh friend, I did do some googling. Are you ready
- 15:25Speaker 1: to hear it?
- 15:26Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 15:26Speaker 3: Tell me because I did too.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Well, biodegradable balloons are not really a real thing. Like
- 15:33Speaker 1: there was a study in nineteen eighty nine paid for
- 15:35Speaker 1: by the balloon industry that ultimately came out and said,
- 15:39Speaker 1: like pieces of balloons that pop are as biodegradeable as
- 15:42Speaker 1: an oak leaf in six months and then there's all
- 15:45Speaker 1: these other groups that came out and we're like, well, actually,
- 15:49Speaker 1: first of all, they could never replicate that information. Second
- 15:52Speaker 1: of all, even if that were true, an oak leaf
- 15:58Speaker 1: does not pose a day injure risk, a safety risk
- 16:01Speaker 1: to an animal on the ground that's going to eat
- 16:03Speaker 1: it and choke on it, while a slowly biodegrading balloon will.
- 16:08Speaker 1: And most balloons are not one hundred percent latex. They
- 16:11Speaker 1: got all these other.
- 16:11Speaker 2: Stuff in them.
- 16:12Speaker 3: Any nickles, yeah yeah, and they usually have a ribbon
- 16:16Speaker 3: attached to it.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Yes, great point. Also dangerous for animals, yes, yeah, So yes,
- 16:22Speaker 2: there's not really a safe balloon release. I'm so sorry.
- 16:25Speaker 1: I know people think they're lovely, they're they're not good
- 16:29Speaker 1: for the environment.
- 16:30Speaker 3: I cringe every time I see somebody doing that on TV.
- 16:33Speaker 3: I was like, me, don't do.
- 16:34Speaker 1: That well, And it made me mad because I was like,
- 16:36Speaker 1: this lovely thing, like this squirrel releasing this note to
- 16:39Speaker 1: be found by someone in the future.
- 16:42Speaker 2: It made me like, I don't like this part of it.
- 16:45Speaker 2: It made me mad that I had to dislike that.
- 16:47Speaker 3: Yes, I one hundred percent agree.
- 16:49Speaker 2: Now let me tell you.
- 16:50Speaker 3: When I was in elementary school, a second or third grade,
- 16:54Speaker 3: we did something like this. We tied like it was
- 16:57Speaker 3: like to find a pen pal and you released it
- 17:00Speaker 3: into the balloon.
- 17:02Speaker 1: That sounds familiar, and I remember it being so awesome.
- 17:07Speaker 1: And every time I see a balloon like in the
- 17:11Speaker 1: bushes as an adult now, I always wonder is Sarah
- 17:14Speaker 1: Notes attached to But you know there's usually not anyway.
- 17:20Speaker 3: Just don't do that, guys, just don't do it. Okay,
- 17:23Speaker 3: here is something I wish for. I wish I would
- 17:27Speaker 3: have had a heads up on how Jack's wife died.
- 17:31Speaker 3: And I'm gonna tell you it's probably personal to me. No,
- 17:33Speaker 3: it's not that like as a breast cancer st if
- 17:35Speaker 3: I remember myself with a teenage daughter, all of it
- 17:39Speaker 3: hits a little close to home. I don't like to
- 17:42Speaker 3: be blindsided by cancer storylines. And this is on nobody's
- 17:46Speaker 3: radar who's never had cancer, you know what I mean. There,
- 17:50Speaker 3: I will tell you there are tons and tons of
- 17:53Speaker 3: articles and lists on the internet it says skip these
- 17:56Speaker 3: movies if you've you know, are dealing with breast cancer
- 17:59Speaker 3: and you don't want to see like a breast cancer storyline. Yeah,
- 18:03Speaker 3: So I just wish I could have had a little
- 18:05Speaker 3: bit of a headset, but it would have been it
- 18:06Speaker 3: was fine.
- 18:07Speaker 2: It was fine.
- 18:08Speaker 3: It just was oh oh for me.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't think that it's.
- 18:17Speaker 1: Well. To put it in another way, I think it
- 18:19Speaker 1: might be a nice thing to consider in media going forward,
- 18:24Speaker 1: just throwing a trigger warning on there.
- 18:26Speaker 2: Like books are starting to do that a lot now.
- 18:29Speaker 1: H.
- 18:31Speaker 2: Just really quick.
- 18:31Speaker 1: I mean, we get it for some extreme things, like
- 18:34Speaker 1: we'll get it for like sexual violence or depictions of
- 18:38Speaker 1: self harm, but maybe just these are the things that
- 18:42Speaker 1: might be make this movie not for you, just real
- 18:46Speaker 1: quick on screen. Oh my gosh, can you imagine, like
- 18:50Speaker 1: I know, the Momark crowd's gonna come for us.
- 18:53Speaker 3: They would just be like, uh, they're so woke, even
- 18:56Speaker 3: though that's a terrible like.
- 18:58Speaker 2: Description, but you know what I mean, I do, Okay.
- 19:02Speaker 3: What else I wished for is that Noel she needed
- 19:07Speaker 3: to be straight up honest with Grace from go that
- 19:12Speaker 3: Tony had passed like the whole like communication between the
- 19:16Speaker 3: two of them and Grace like not realizing that she
- 19:20Speaker 3: wasn't communicating with another teenager was unfair.
- 19:25Speaker 2: I thought.
- 19:26Speaker 3: I did love how Noel's coworker was like, Nope, you
- 19:29Speaker 3: need to fix this right now. Though she didn't really
- 19:34Speaker 3: not in that Like when she was writing that email
- 19:37Speaker 3: that he was like, no, you need to write it now.
- 19:39Speaker 3: It still wasn't actually very clear.
- 19:42Speaker 1: Right, she tries to end the relationship without giving her
- 19:44Speaker 1: all of the information.
- 19:46Speaker 3: Yes, exactly. I was like, that's mean where Grace is
- 19:49Speaker 3: being catfish?
- 19:50Speaker 2: Oh No, I thought about this a lot too, and
- 19:54Speaker 2: I agree with you.
- 19:56Speaker 1: I wish Grace had all of the information because I
- 19:58Speaker 1: hate being in the dark. I hate finding out that
- 20:01Speaker 1: other people knew things that I didn't know.
- 20:02Speaker 2: And they knew that I didn't know them.
- 20:04Speaker 1: And even though there was no harm meant in this interaction,
- 20:11Speaker 1: think she was maybe trying to protect Grace as much
- 20:14Speaker 1: as she was trying to keep herself.
- 20:16Speaker 2: From having to say those things out loud.
- 20:19Speaker 1: I think part of it speaks a little bit to
- 20:20Speaker 1: the messiness of this whole thing. Like, no one's behavior
- 20:24Speaker 1: in this was perfect, But yeah, I didn't like Grace
- 20:27Speaker 1: kind of being in the dark that whole time.
- 20:29Speaker 3: Yeah, that's all I had. I that's all I wished for.
- 20:32Speaker 2: What about did you see that?
- 20:34Speaker 3: Okay, I have a couple.
- 20:35Speaker 2: Okay, let's hear it now.
- 20:37Speaker 3: You would only know this if you watch I'm not
- 20:39Speaker 3: saying you. I'm saying to the listener, if you watched
- 20:42Speaker 3: both movies this week, two movies with a character named Audrey.
- 20:47Speaker 3: Oh we had we had Jack's potential dating lady. Her
- 20:52Speaker 3: name was Audrey in this movie. And then Audrey was
- 20:57Speaker 3: the main character in Game of Love.
- 21:00Speaker 2: That's a funny lineup.
- 21:03Speaker 3: Another scene when they were the weather was not helping
- 21:07Speaker 3: them when they were trying to get the bubbles to
- 21:09Speaker 3: go across the lake and they were like blowing the
- 21:11Speaker 3: all away. I was like, what can you do though,
- 21:16Speaker 3: like it.
- 21:18Speaker 2: I know, but end is blowing.
- 21:20Speaker 3: I saw a photo though, like of a pulled back
- 21:23Speaker 3: scene and it was just snow cover snow, snow, snow everywhere.
- 21:27Speaker 3: So they're like, make it work people, Yeah, exactly. And
- 21:31Speaker 3: finally for me, when Grace is trying out for the
- 21:35Speaker 3: basketball team and she's just throwing brick after brick after brick,
- 21:41Speaker 3: and then the dad, no, Jack, you don't stand up
- 21:44Speaker 3: and be like, I'll give you forty bucks if you
- 21:46Speaker 3: can like whatever. Like I would know my daughter would
- 21:50Speaker 3: kill me he plays basketball. She would ground to swallow
- 21:53Speaker 3: her whole totally. But then like Grace is supposed to
- 21:57Speaker 3: be like this awesome defender and Nope, that's not how
- 22:00Speaker 3: you play defense in basketball. It was not great.
- 22:03Speaker 2: It was like with Max, it out of their hands.
- 22:04Speaker 3: It's not great, girl, you gotta put your hands up.
- 22:08Speaker 3: We gotta put it out wide anyway.
- 22:12Speaker 2: That's all.
- 22:12Speaker 3: That's all I got.
- 22:13Speaker 1: I love it, all right, let's rate unexpected grace.
- 22:18Speaker 2: You go first.
- 22:19Speaker 3: I gave it four point five stars.
- 22:21Speaker 2: It was half a star for.
- 22:23Speaker 1: The terrible cheesy jokes that I get were part of
- 22:26Speaker 1: their characterization.
- 22:27Speaker 3: But love, I liked those jokes. I you know what,
- 22:33Speaker 3: I had forgotten all about Hi until you just brought
- 22:35Speaker 3: him up right now where he was like chardonnay, no,
- 22:38Speaker 3: my name's Jack.
- 22:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:39Speaker 3: I loved it. I love a good dad joke like that. Wow,
- 22:45Speaker 3: I'm surprised with the four and a half stars. I
- 22:47Speaker 3: gave it four stars. I thought it was a solid, good, watchable,
- 22:52Speaker 3: great movie. There was nothing I didn't really like about it.
- 22:55Speaker 3: So maybe four stars is too low.
- 22:57Speaker 2: I don't know. Yeah, I hear you, I hear you.
- 23:02Speaker 2: I loved this movie. I thought it was great.
- 23:03Speaker 3: And let me see, why was it on Hallmark Movies
- 23:06Speaker 3: and Mysteries. This should have been on the main channel.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Well, I was reading a review that said Hallmark Movies
- 23:13Speaker 1: and Mysteries is either mystery or misery.
- 23:18Speaker 2: Little so I think that's accurate. That's funny.
- 23:23Speaker 1: So we have another two movie week next week and
- 23:27Speaker 1: it's a big hitter. We've got Tyler Hines a picture
- 23:30Speaker 1: of her and the cases of Mystery Lane starring Paul Campbell.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Big week coming up.
- 23:37Speaker 1: Friends, Thanks for listening to this episode of Girls Gone Hallmark.
