- 5:05it's gonna pop up right away. So remember me in
- 5:08your holiday shopping for your Christmas gifts. And you know,
- 5:13it helps support me and allows me to do this
- 5:16kind of thing for a living. And it's actually a
- 5:19really nice gift for folks. I mean, if you've got
- 5:22somebody in your life that's considering converting to Catholicism, my
- 5:26conversion story, confirmation autobiography of faith.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Would probably go a great ways in that direction.
- 5:33Speaker 1: I mean, really help that person along how a Protestant
- 5:37came to deal with Catholic doctrines and accept them and
- 5:40realize that the Catholic Church was a true church. Or
- 5:43I also my Gospel reflections. I sent them out six
- 5:48months in advance in book form, So good gift for
- 5:52really anybody in your family that's Catholic or maybe considering conversion,
- 5:57or a Protestant that you want to kind of nudge
- 6:01in that direction. Or you know, of course my herb
- 6:04books and my cookbooks would be suitable for anybody, so
- 6:08please do consider that for your Christmas shopping. Now let's
- 6:12start with where we left off. The questioner is asking
- 6:15the priests in radio replies several questions about the Bible,
- 6:20and they have just explained to them that many, really
- 6:25all Bibles are full of errors, a lot of which
- 6:30had to do with translation, some of which were very
- 6:34purposeful changing the words of Christ to fit Lutheran doctrine,
- 6:38cutting out entire books that they didn't agree with. You know, so, really,
- 6:44the Catholic Bible is the only true Bible, and the
- 6:46person asks them, how does it help to know Hebrew
- 6:49and Greek? And they answer, because one must know what
- 6:54the original words meant and the language in which Scripture
- 6:56was written. A knowledge of Hebrew and Greek. She soon
- 6:59shows that the translators do not always find an English
- 7:03word to express the exact sense of the original And
- 7:05I would add to that aramaic. By the way, God
- 7:08inspired the thoughts of the original writers, not the work
- 7:11of the translators. If you read a sense into Scripture
- 7:15which God did not intend at all, you no longer
- 7:18have God's word. Person says, but Christ chose poor fishermen,
- 7:22not learned men, And they answer, he trained them personally
- 7:26and infused into their minds an exact knowledge of his doctrine.
- 7:29We cannot claim to have received some of a revelation
- 7:33that we should rank ourselves with them. And the person says,
- 7:36then Catholics have to just believe what the priest likes
- 7:39to tell them, and they answer, the priests cannot tell
- 7:41people just what he likes. He is obliged to teach
- 7:45just what Christ taught and which has been taught in
- 7:48the name of Christ by the infallible Catholic church. Person says,
- 7:53is your church afraid that people will firm opinions for themselves.
- 7:57And they answer, if we consider some of the onions
- 8:00people have formed for themselves from their private reading of Scripture,
- 8:04there is need to be afraid. Christ's method was to
- 8:07establish a teaching church. Protestants have used a peculiar method
- 8:11of their own, But you cannot blame the Catholic Church
- 8:14for not using the Protestant method, a method which has
- 8:17led to nothing but uncertainty and widespread unbelief. A person says,
- 8:22admitting the necessity of guidance, are not our Protestant ministers
- 8:26as capable as Catholic priests in telling us what scripture means?
- 8:31And they answer they might be if priests had not
- 8:34an infallible Catholic Church to guide them. The Catholic Church
- 8:38rejoices in the special assistance of the Holy Spirit, and
- 8:42the priest has the help of her defined doctrines and
- 8:45the constant Catholic tradition as a safeguard. But your Protestant
- 8:49ministers do not claim to be a spokesman of an
- 8:51infallible church on their own principle. They have to admit
- 8:55that they are possibly wrong, and as a matter of fact,
- 8:58we're all priests. And as a matter of fact, where
- 9:02all priests are agreed in the essential teachings of Scripture,
- 9:05your ministers come to all kinds of contradictory conclusions. The
- 9:09unity of teaching among Catholic priests is a greater indication
- 9:12of capability than the chaos which prevails outside of the
- 9:17Catholic Church. But the capability of Catholic priests has little
- 9:20to do with relative personal attainments. It is derived from
- 9:24the authority of an infallible church.
- 9:28Speaker 3: The person says, you.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Speak of authority of the church and the weight of tradition,
- 9:32But I have been taught that scripture is the only
- 9:34rule of faith, that is the basis of all pros
- 9:37of belief. And they answer, you have been taught wrongly.
- 9:41Scripture itself denies that it is the only rule of faith.
- 9:44The last verse of Saint John's Gospel tells us that
- 9:47not all concerning our Lord's work is contained in scripture.
- 9:51Saint Paul tells us over and over again that much
- 9:53of Christian teaching is to be found in tradition. One
- 9:56who clings to the readings of the Bible only might
- 9:59be able to cy hundreds of texts yet not know
- 10:01Christian doctrine by any means. In fact, the adoption of
- 10:06the Bible only has led to as many opinions as
- 10:08there are men among non Catholics. Finally, Scripture tells us
- 10:12most clearly that the Catholic Church is the rule of faith,
- 10:15the Church which Christ sent to teach all nations, and
- 10:18which he commanded men to hear and obey. He who
- 10:22believes in Scripture as his only guide ends by believing
- 10:25his own mistake and interpretation of the Bible, and that
- 10:29means he ends by believing in himself. And the person
- 10:34answers quite ignorantly, I would say, I mean, this is
- 10:37what many presents believe, is not the church built on
- 10:40the knowledge it gets from the Bible? And they say no,
- 10:42The Catholic Church was built by Christ and upon Christ.
- 10:45Before a line of the New Testament was written. She
- 10:48received her doctrine immediately from the lips of Christ and
- 10:51is safeguarded from error in her teachings by the Holy Spirit.
- 10:54Between forty and eighty years after her foundation, some of
- 10:58her members wrote the Books of the New test If
- 11:01the Gospels were the only rule of faith, then before
- 11:04they were written, there could have been no Christian rule
- 11:06of faith at all. Always remember, especially when speaking in Protestants,
- 11:12Jesus did not leave us a Bible. He did not
- 11:14hand a book to Saint Peter. Okay, he left us
- 11:18a church. The Church then wrote the Bible. Before they
- 11:23wrote the Bible, and by which I mean, they chose
- 11:27the scriptures from the Old Testament, guided by the Holy Spirit,
- 11:31that were necessary for Christians. Then they wrote the Gospels,
- 11:36the Acts, the various epistles, and the Book of Revelations,
- 11:40which was somewhere around eighty a d. Saint John living
- 11:43the longest, the only one that didn't die of martyr,
- 11:45he lived in exile and lived to be a very
- 11:47old age. Before they even wrote those, they wrote the
- 11:53d dot K, the Writings of the Twelve which gave
- 11:56the basis of Christian faith. When we were to go church,
- 12:00which was Sunday. You can show to all your Seven
- 12:02day Adventists and etc. Jove's witness Torah observant friends that
- 12:08the first Christians did go to church on Sunday, specifically
- 12:11rejecting the Jewish Sabbath in favor of the day that
- 12:14Christ rose from the grave. And there's a reason for that.
- 12:18And you can explain the reason from that if you
- 12:20have the d dot K, the basic tenets of Christian belief,
- 12:25how we worship, how we were to receive the Eucharist
- 12:28at Mass, and the book written by the apostles, the
- 12:34d dot K, which predates the Bible by a good
- 12:38twenty to forty years, actually is perfectly describes the Catholic
- 12:44Church of today. The languages may have changed, certain customers
- 12:49may have changed. I mean, for instance, catacumins before becoming Catholic,
- 12:56I believe it took about four years of learning Christian
- 12:58doctrine before you could receive the Eucharist. And before receiving
- 13:03the eucharst the catechic cumans were dismissed. They were not
- 13:07allowed to be in the church when during that part
- 13:12of Mass in which one receives the Eucharist. Of course
- 13:15that has changed, many traditions have changed. But you will
- 13:19recognize the Catholic Church in the d do K as
- 13:23being the same as the Catholic Church today. And it
- 13:28is also, of course very true what they said that,
- 13:32as I said, Jesus didn't leave us a book, he
- 13:34left us a church. The church wrote the Bible. It
- 13:37was almost one hundred years after the crucifixion and resurrection
- 13:42of Christ, before there was.
- 13:43Speaker 3: Even a Bible.
- 13:45Speaker 1: It was another approximately three hundred years before it was
- 13:48translated into a language that everyone can understand. Parts of
- 13:52were in Hebrew, parts of it were in Greek, parts
- 13:54of it were in Aramaic. There was a little Latin
- 13:57here and there. Saint Jerome gave us the Bible as
- 14:01we pretty much know it today. The Biblias Sacravolgata was
- 14:06made the official Bible of the Catholic Church. I believe
- 14:08about one hundred years later, the four eighties or four sixties,
- 14:12so for longer than America's been a nation. Put it
- 14:16in that perspective, almost twice as long as America has existed,
- 14:21there was a Christian Church, and only one Christian Church,
- 14:25the Catholic Church, that didn't have a Bible. So if
- 14:31you base your belief on the Bible alone as the
- 14:33soul authority, we would have to say there was no
- 14:36valid Christian Church for nearly four hundred years between the
- 14:41resurrection and the official publishing of the Bible in a
- 14:46language everybody can understand. That doesn't really make any sense,
- 14:50does it, Because if there wasn't a valid church. You
- 14:54don't have a valid Bible because the apostles wrote the books.
- 14:58I mean, the Church wrote the Bible. So if you
- 15:02say there was no valid church without a Bible, if
- 15:04the Bible is are so authority, you can't even believe
- 15:08the Bible, and therefore your entire faith falls apart, your
- 15:12entire basis for your doctrine falls apart. And that's why
- 15:19was it John Cardinal Newman may have been well anyway,
- 15:26one of the great British saints, who was a convert
- 15:29from Anglicanism, said to be deep in history has to
- 15:33become Catholic, and that's or to cease to be Protestant.
- 15:37He said, if Protestants were actually taught Christian history, there
- 15:42would be no Protestantism. The Protestants who rail against you know,
- 15:47icons and payings of the Blessed Virgin Mary and all that.
- 15:51You know.
- 15:52Speaker 3: Was it Saint.
- 15:53Speaker 1: Timothy who painted I think it was Timothy a portrait
- 15:58of the Blessed Virgin Mary in one of the first
- 16:01Christian churches, and it's still there today in Rome. What
- 16:05about all the paintings and icons and all the the
- 16:09churches in the caves like in Turkey or the Catacombs
- 16:13of Rome, or you know, you can go through it.
- 16:16They can't really reconcile, well they can't. There is actually
- 16:21no factual or rational way to reconcile Protestant doctrine with history.
- 16:29They'll say, you know, well they were you know, they
- 16:31just called Christians the way, and the people had house
- 16:34churches and all that, and there was you know, the
- 16:36Catholic Church only asserted as authority and like four hundred something, right,
- 16:39you know, And you can go back and say, well,
- 16:41wait a minute. You know, here's the writing of Pope
- 16:44Saint Clement of Rome, the third Pope, who was ordained
- 16:49I believe by Saint Peter. I believe this right, No,
- 16:53Saint Paul. I believe he was ordained by Saint Paul.
- 16:56Could have been Peter. I'd have to look that up.
- 16:58But anyway, writing in like one si AD, and he
- 17:02references specifically the Catholic Church and his signature as being
- 17:07a pope. Okay, there is no way to reconcile the
- 17:13Protestant belief. I mean, say to them, show me your churches.
- 17:16Show me a church that existed before five hundred a d.
- 17:20That wasn't Catholic.
- 17:21Speaker 3: Show it to me.
- 17:22Speaker 1: Show me your Baptist church, your Methodist church, well, you
- 17:25know those were just founded in the last couple hundred years.
- 17:27Show me what church existed that was not Catholic. I
- 17:31can show you the Catholic churches, and I can show
- 17:34you the heretical Gnostic churches, which well not the buildings,
- 17:37but I can show you the writings of those who
- 17:39followed Simon the Magician, who was condemned when he tried
- 17:42to buy the Holy Spirit from Saint Peter. You can't
- 17:47show me a Protestant church that existed before the late
- 17:50fourteen hundreds. There wasn't one. There were various, you know,
- 17:55heretical sects and such that were condemned by you know,
- 17:58polycarp and Origin and Ironaeus, and you know, go through
- 18:02the list Saint Clement of Alexandria. We have history on
- 18:06our side, we have archaeology on our side, we have
- 18:08writing on our side, and we also have just basic
- 18:11common sense, which says the Bible wasn't written completed until
- 18:17almost one hundred years after the Resurrection, was not formalized
- 18:22and translated for almost four hundred years. So if Christianity existed,
- 18:30there had to be a Christianity without a Bible, and
- 18:33therefore the Bible alone cannot be the sole authority. Plus
- 18:36the Bible says it's not the sole authority. Such as
- 18:39when you know, as Saint John said, all of what
- 18:43Jesus said and taught and did could not be contained.
- 18:46Speaker 3: In all the books of the world. Was what was.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Necessary for you to believe, for you to be convinced
- 18:53and begin to believe the teaching Church, which is Catholic.
- 18:57All right, now, let's get into our virtue and our
- 19:00vice for the day. And the virtue is obedience. Coming
- 19:03from Father Spirago's exhaustive Catechism of the Catholic Church, he writes,
- 19:10obedience consists and in being ready to fulfill the behest
- 19:14of one's superior Thus, obedience is not merely consistent doing
- 19:18what one is commanded, but in being ready and willing
- 19:20to do what is commanded. Many obey, but obey grudgingly.
- 19:24In that case, obedience is no virtue. Moreover, obedience is
- 19:28not a virtue unless it is for God's sake that
- 19:31one subjects one's will to that of another. Abraham was
- 19:34a pattern of obedience when he offered a Isaac, the
- 19:37son of God himself practice obedience, for he was subject
- 19:41to two of his creatures, Mary and Joseph. The creator
- 19:44of all things obeyed an artisan, the Lord of Glory,
- 19:48a lowly maiden, whoever herd or saw anything to compare
- 19:52with that, Christ was more obedient to his heavenly Father,
- 19:55even to death on the cross Philippians two eight. By
- 19:59obedience of one many shall be made just. Romans five nineteen.
- 20:04I admire, says Saint Francis, to sell the infant of Bethlehem.
- 20:08He is all powerful, and yet does whatever he has
- 20:11told without a word. Children are required to obey their parents,
- 20:15or those who hold the place of parents to them, wives,
- 20:18their husbands, servants, their masters, and all men who are
- 20:21placed in authority over them, whether ecclesiastical or secular rulers,
- 20:25in order to ignite all his creatures in harmonious In
- 20:29a harmonious hole, God has established a certain relationship between them,
- 20:33a mutual dependence. The moon revolves around the Earth, and
- 20:36the planets of our solar system around the Sun. The
- 20:39angels stand in the same relationship to one another as
- 20:42men do on Earth. In the fourth Commandment, God enjoins
- 20:45upon children obedience to their parents. This is due to
- 20:48them as being God's representative. Saint Paul's says, children, obey
- 20:52your parents in all things Colossians three twenty. And again
- 20:56those who are disobeyed at their parents are worthy of
- 20:59death Romans one point thirty. Teachers are are the parents representatives.
- 21:04Wives must obey their husband so far as God has appointed.
- 21:07He said to Eve after the fall, thou shalt be
- 21:10under thy husband's power, and he shalt have dominion over
- 21:13thee Genesis three sixteen. The very origin of the woman
- 21:18proves her subject demand, for she was made of his
- 21:20flesh and thus belongs to him. As a mark of inferiority,
- 21:24the woman's head must be covered first Corinthians eleven seven.
- 21:28Saint Peter teaches servants their duty toward their masters and
- 21:31the following words, servants, be subject to your masters with
- 21:34all fear, not only to the good and general, but
- 21:37also to the froward, froward or harsh one Peter two eighteen.
- 21:43Our Lord admonishes us to obey our ecclesiastical superiors, saying,
- 21:48whosoever will not hear the church, let him be unto
- 21:53thee as a heathen and the publican. Matthew eighteen seventeen.
- 21:58And therefore all Protestants are in disobedience of the words
- 22:01of Christ, and all feminists are in disobedience to the
- 22:05words of God. And actually, I hate to say it,
- 22:10but I have come to believe that it was a
- 22:13very bad thing when we started having revolutions in this world,
- 22:17both the French Revolution, the American Revolution, the Bolshevik Revolution.
- 22:23I could go on because God put the leaders in place,
- 22:28and it was rebelling against God, to rebel against the king.
- 22:33Even though we had a very bad king, the government
- 22:36of England had gone astray and embracing Anglicanism. Therefore, you
- 22:40could say the king relinquished his authority given to him
- 22:44by God when he stopped being a subject of the
- 22:46Catholic Church. I can definitely agree with that. But the
- 22:49idea of replacing a Protestant king with a secular, well
- 22:57constitutional republic that has devolved in democracy has not worked
- 23:00out particularly well. Uh. Actually, George Washington, they wanted him
- 23:05to be a king. Do you know what happened at
- 23:07the ends of George Washington's life? He converted to Catholicism.
- 23:11Our history books don't really tell us that. Imagine what
- 23:13a different country America would be instead of being led
- 23:17by mostly Freemasons in the chaos of democracy, we had
- 23:23had a Catholic king, we'd be a very different nation
- 23:28and probably a much more moral and just nation. Imagine
- 23:32the economic power.
- 23:33Speaker 2: The the uh would my word be entrepreneurship, the inherent
- 23:41dignity of the American man in our enshrine in our constitution.
- 23:46Speaker 1: Under a Catholic king, who could really lead us to
- 23:49fulfill those ideals? We have to say, would a Catholic
- 23:54king have a Catholic lineage? Would his you know, son
- 23:59have come the next Catholic king? You know, I don't know.
- 24:02That's all it for speculation, but you know, America has
- 24:06perpetrated great evils, great evils. We been forced for good
- 24:10in many ways, many ways. But you know, abortion, gay marriage,
- 24:21the nuclear bombs in World War Two, where were they aimed?
- 24:24Speaker 3: Well?
- 24:25Speaker 1: One of those cities in Japan was for reasons no
- 24:32one seems quite to be able to explain the largest
- 24:36concentrations of Catholics in Japan. You know, why did we
- 24:41drop the second bomb? Was it justified? I don't know,
- 24:45I don't know.
- 24:45Speaker 3: I'm not going to judge the people who did it.
- 24:47But in hindsight.
- 24:49Speaker 1: But why was it Catholics were actually targeted in the
- 24:53bombing that ended World War Two? Why is it that
- 24:59America turned its backs on the Catholics in China and
- 25:04essentially facilitated Mao's Revolution? Why after.
- 25:12Speaker 4: It was the name of it in the nineteen nineties,
- 25:15when the tanks rolled through, guys right off the tip
- 25:19of my tongue, the square there in China and the
- 25:21Chinese people were ready to overthrow the Communist government of China,
- 25:28and many, many Chinese Catholics were very much part of that.
- 25:33Why did the very high ranking Freemason George H. W.
- 25:38Bush send Skrocoft over there and cut a deal with them,
- 25:43allowing China into the World Trade Organization, propping out the
- 25:47Chinese government, and allowing for the slaughter of millions of
- 25:51Catholic Chinese.
- 25:54Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't have that answer. I don't
- 25:58have that answer at all. I following the Spanish American War,
- 26:03did our generals and leaders, all of whom were Freemasons,
- 26:08go occupy Catholic countries like well, to some extent, the
- 26:12Philippines and uh Puerto Rico and make whether protectorates or
- 26:19US territories put essentially Catholic nations under American governance. Why
- 26:26did we help? Why did we actually overthrow the Catholic
- 26:31ruler of Vietnam? Have him well, the CIA basically had
- 26:37him assassinated on the tarmac. I could go, you know,
- 26:43maybe I'm getting into a territory here. That's a little murky.
- 26:46But how different would things have been if George Washington
- 26:51had agreed to be king and was a Catholic king
- 26:54of the largest, most powerful nation on the face.
- 26:56Speaker 3: Of the earth.
- 26:58Speaker 1: We do have to speculated, well pondered. At least history's
- 27:03history is what it is. But anyway, because of disobedience,
- 27:09because of obedience required, because of the obedience required of Christians.
- 27:14He calls them sheep, and those that are set over
- 27:17them pastors. We ought to obey the secular authorities because
- 27:20they have.
- 27:21Speaker 3: Power from God.
- 27:22Speaker 1: Saint Paul says, there is no power but from God,
- 27:25and those that are are ordained of God. Therefore, he
- 27:29that resisteth the power resisteth the ordinance of God. And
- 27:33yet in our constitution we say that power comes from
- 27:36the people, don't we. That's a little humanist sence. It
- 27:40actually sounds more like what Satan would say. It is
- 27:44something to think about, and I mean it's the ultimate
- 27:48expression of Protestantism. They throw off the authority of the Church,
- 27:51say I can interpret scripture from myself. And then you
- 27:54have the Masonic Order, which was, you know, association of
- 27:58such you know people, And within just a few hundred
- 28:02years of the Protestant Reformation, you have the French Revolution,
- 28:06the American Revolution, the Bolshevik Revolution, you have and the
- 28:10Masonic Order is dedicated to the overthrow of the Catholic
- 28:13Church and all monarchies. Now why would they target both
- 28:16the monarchies and the Catholic Church. Why would they be
- 28:20equally against the Anglican King of England and the Catholic Church.
- 28:30Could it be because they're actually very Satanic at their core?
- 28:35The Freemasonry is essentially a Satanic religion. You can read
- 28:39their texts and see what they actually believe. They're humanistic,
- 28:42as they say, Satan worshipers don't actually worship the devil,
- 28:45they worship themselves and Freeze Masonry worships humanism, secularism, believing
- 28:52it can bring about a perfect world through the work
- 28:56of men who throw off the shackles of religion and monarchy.
- 29:01What is does that sound like to you, would it
- 29:03be the devil who said he would rather ruin hell
- 29:06than worship in heaven? Or submit? I think is actually
- 29:11the word that was used, could be, could be anyway.
- 29:16Yet obedience has certain limits. We are not required to
- 29:19obey our suppiers and matters in which are not within
- 29:22their jurisdiction, and we ought not to obey them if
- 29:25they command us to do with the law of God forbids.
- 29:29In other words, the King of England had no right
- 29:31to demand that everyone renounced Catholicism and become Anglican, but
- 29:36he did so and then had thousands, if not hundreds
- 29:39of thousands of people executed and confiscated their lands and
- 29:43all that. King Henry the eighth was a really bad dude,
- 29:48really bad dude, And that was the end of any
- 29:52kind of superiority in British culture, such as they would
- 29:56claim it to be. I mean, everything's gone downhill. Since
- 30:01this subject is fully treated under the Fourth Commandment. Obviously
- 30:04obedience is the most difficult and at the same time
- 30:07the most excellent of all moral virtues. Saint Thomas Aquinas
- 30:10said that, or it's a paraphrasing. If we said obedience
- 30:14is Saint bonaventure is a sacrifice of one's own will,
- 30:17and it is a great sacrifice for man when what
- 30:21is commanded is contrary to his inclination and to his advantage.
- 30:26By obedience, the understanding does penance. It is a kind
- 30:30of moral mortyrdom. Original sin is the cause which men
- 30:35are under the yoke and dominion of one another. Where
- 30:38sin enters freedom, as the throned servitude takes its place.
- 30:42Obedience is the most excellent of all virtues. Man can
- 30:45offer to Almighty God, nothing greater than the submission of
- 30:49his will to that of another for God's sake. Obedience
- 30:52is the most acceptable burnt offering that we can sacrifice
- 30:56to God upon the altar of the heart. Obedience is
- 30:59better than sacrifice first Kings fifteen twenty two. And for
- 31:02this reason, in a sacrifice, we offer our flesh to
- 31:05another in obedience, the oblation of our will our own self.
- 31:11By your obedience, by our obedience, we accomplish the will
- 31:15of God most surely, and we attain certainty certainly and
- 31:19quickly to a higher degree of perfection. By obedience, we
- 31:24accomplish the will of God most surely. For our superiors
- 31:27or God's representatives therefore their commands are God's commands. That
- 31:32is anathema to the American cultural beliefs, without a doubt
- 31:40that that's what I'm saying. We are so at odds
- 31:45with Catholic teaching. It's amazing to ponder, and I don't
- 31:51have an answer for it, because unless and until America
- 31:55becomes a Catholic nation and says Christ is king and
- 31:59the Opus is representative on Earth, I don't know how
- 32:03to fix.
- 32:03Speaker 3: That problem at all.
- 32:07Speaker 1: We ought not to consider who it is who issues
- 32:09the behest, but only the will of God, which is
- 32:11made known to us by the mouth of our superior.
- 32:15He who obeys will not be required to give an
- 32:17account of what he has done. The one who commands
- 32:19has to do that. Obedience gives value to all that
- 32:22we do. The simplest action done out of obedience has
- 32:25greater value in God's sight than the most austere works
- 32:28of penance. Eating and sleeping, if done in obedience to
- 32:32the will of God, are more pleasing to Him than
- 32:33voluntary fastings and visuals of a hermit. By obedience, we
- 32:37attain certain certainly and quickly, to a high degree of perfection.
- 32:44Obedience is the means of avoiding many sins the antidote.
- 32:48It is the antidote of pride. By the practice of
- 32:51the other virtues, we combat the spirits of evil. By obedience,
- 32:55we vanquish them. And this is just for since they
- 32:58fell through disobedience. By our obedience, we show our superiority
- 33:02to them. Saint Augustine cause obedience the greatest of virtues.
- 33:07It is the parent and source of every other virtue.
- 33:10Saint Teresa declares that no path leads so quickly to
- 33:13the summit of perfection as the path of obedience. Hence,
- 33:17the evil enemy endeavors by all means to deter us
- 33:21from the practice of virtue. Obedience is the key that
- 33:24opens the portals of heaven, the ship that carries us
- 33:26to the celestial harbor. Disobedience closed heaven and opened hell. Obedience,
- 33:32on the other hand, opens heaven willingly with the wishes. Obedience,
- 33:39on the other hand, opens heaven and closes hell. Learn
- 33:42says Saint Francis, to sell to comply willingly with the
- 33:46wishes of thy equals, and thus thou wilt learn to
- 33:49feel cheerfully the commands of thy superiors. Above all, when
- 33:53you obey, obey promptly do not stop deliverate, for reasoning
- 33:58is only hindrance to obedience. Boy, that's also very much
- 34:02against what our culture says. Remember that Eve began to
- 34:05waiver as soon as she allowed herself to argue about
- 34:08the divine command. As the saying goes, we are a
- 34:12nation of rebels. Well, let's look at the dedication of
- 34:16Saul Olinsky's book. Saul Olinsky, the communist who was the
- 34:21mentor to Hillary Clinton and many others, including the teacher
- 34:25of Barack Obama and many many others, who dedicated his
- 34:28book to Satan, in quotes the first rebel as an irishman,
- 34:34I have very, very, very rebellious nature. I have to
- 34:38fight that. When I became Catholic, you know, it really
- 34:44just cleared up so much. I could say, you know,
- 34:46there's an infallible Church, and I accept all its teachings,
- 34:49and I don't have to figure it out for my
- 34:50own Now that many people in America, many of our
- 34:55most esteemed prestigious thinkers and politicians and philosophers, would just
- 35:01recoil in absolute disgust at my saying that. But if
- 35:06I believe that Jesus Christ is God, and I believe
- 35:09his words. He left us an infallible church guaranteed by
- 35:12the Holy Spirit. Therefore, in my opinion on something doesn't
- 35:15matter whatsoever. If Jesus is God, he can't lie. He's
- 35:18the author of all that's you know. That has actually
- 35:24been a great source of comfort for me in my
- 35:28life since becoming Catholic. If we would just do that
- 35:31in our culture and our politics, we wouldn't have abortion,
- 35:34we wouldn't have, you know, acceptance of homosexuality and gay marriage,
- 35:39and we wouldn't have human trafficking and pornography. We wouldn't
- 35:43have the violence that is plaguing us. We would just say, hey,
- 35:46you know what, God said, thou should not kill. Therefore
- 35:49thou shalt not kill. God says, thou shalt not still.
- 35:53Therefore thou shalt not still. God says, thou shalt not
- 35:57commit adultery. He said absolutely, no divorce whatsoever. And we
- 36:04would have intact, happy, working families in a society without
- 36:08violence and greed and all the things we got. But
- 36:10until and at last people are willing to submit, to
- 36:13be obedient to the word of God as given to
- 36:16us through the Holy Catholic Church, it's just not going
- 36:18to happen, and now we're to point where people won't
- 36:21even recognize the truth of God's word, the validity, the
- 36:26authority any authority.
- 36:28Speaker 3: It's not good. It's not good.
- 36:31Speaker 1: I'm not saying America's lost. I mean I have great
- 36:33hope for America, especially since President Trump's been re elected.
- 36:37He's certainly no choir boy or saint. He would do
- 36:41well to be more obedient to the teachers of the church.
- 36:44But he's a whole lot better than Joe Biden, the
- 36:46so called Catholic. You know, I think anyone would have
- 36:50to agree. Joe Biden may be many things, but a
- 36:52good Catholic is not one of them.
- 36:55Speaker 3: Anyway.
- 36:57Speaker 1: Now let's get into the shall we say reflectory or
- 37:03vice that is in opposition to obedience, and it.
- 37:07Speaker 3: Was course disobedience.
- 37:10Speaker 1: Disobedience consists in not fulfilling the commands of one's superiors.
- 37:13Our first parents in Paradise are an instance of disobedience.
- 37:18He who does not obey his superiors is like a
- 37:21palsied limb which does not move as the will commands.
- 37:24Disobedience brings temporal misfortunes and eternal misery upon every man,
- 37:30even in this world of misery. Even in this world.
- 37:34Misery is a result of disobedience. Think of the fatal
- 37:37consequences of original sin. Adam's offense was the means of
- 37:41bringing evil upon all posterity. Pharaoh's disobedience brought sad calamities
- 37:46upon himself and his subjects. Remember the plagues of Egypt
- 37:50and the destructure of the king and his army in
- 37:52the Red Sea. The prophet Jonas had a bitter cause
- 37:56to rule his disobedience. Eternal perdition is also the consequence
- 38:00of disobedience. God rejects the disobedient as the money changer
- 38:05rejects the counterfeit coin. The disobedient must expect a severe
- 38:10sentence in the day of judgment, for in despising their superiors,
- 38:14they have despised not them, but Him whose representatives.
- 38:17Speaker 3: They are.
- 38:19Speaker 1: Disobedient deprives us of all merit. No virtue is acceptable
- 38:24to God. If it is marred by the stain of disobedience,
- 38:28it has then changed from virtue to a vice. Disobedience
- 38:31also deprives us of many graces which we might have
- 38:34obtained through obedience. And we will wrap it up there.
- 38:39Remember the words of Saint Padre Pio pray, hope and
- 38:42don't worry, and I'll talk to y'all next time.
