- 0:37Jake Arthurs and Kevin. Yeah.
- 0:42I'm Kevin, if that was not clear.
- 0:44Yeah, I'm jealous that wasn't. Clear and my Archers sheilas
- 0:48now. Your name has been arters this
- 0:50entire time. Oh my God, I had no idea.
- 0:54What did I miss? I mean last episode we
- 0:58recommended 3 goalies for quantity stars and it was
- 1:02Arthur's Kevin and Jake so we were like ohhh Kevin and Jake.
- 1:06And Arthur? One of you is gonna have to
- 1:11change your name. It's you were our tours.
- 1:13Ohe my God. I don't currently have Archers
- 1:15phone number so. That's actually amazing, I
- 1:19didn't realize. I didn't realize it until we
- 1:22started saying the names. We were like, wait, I'm also
- 1:26Kevin and he's also Jake. And I'm also our tourist, so.
- 1:32It worked out perfectly for everybody.
- 1:34Involved. What are the odds?
- 1:37Seriously. OK everyone, today we are doing
- 1:40our week 8 Bush, which is Bilo sell high episode story.
- 1:49Yeah, I don't think that's gonna.
- 1:50That one's gonna stay. Roll off the tongue so well.

- 2:03Willing. Yeah.

- 2:06people say. Yeah, someone actually said that
- 2:09to me in casual conversation the other day.
- 2:11And if he's listening, shout out.
- 2:12You know who you are. I'm just picturing you standing
- 2:15in front of like this hill with your fists out being like, I'm
- 2:17ready, someone come for this hill I got.

- 2:55it or not. So wow, that's crazy.
- 2:57I've seen that since the day I was born so.
- 2:59Those were his first words on the historic numbers exactly.
- 3:05Exactly, and all the links to our socials are in the link tree
- 3:07in the podcast description. The link to the Discord is there
- 3:10as well. Come join the community.
- 3:12It's a great time. It's awesome.
- 3:15Come. Join Pop in if we have time for
- 3:17a small lollygag Jakey. I've got some actual devastating
- 3:20news. It turns out that I watched the
- 3:23wrong Miracle on Ice movie. The one I watched was was from
- 3:28like 1980 and it wasn't like I didn't realize there was a
- 3:33Disney one from like 2000. 4 So yeah, it was a great movie.
- 3:39Yeah, it was like a two hour and like something like documentary
- 3:44and I thought I was like, you know what Jackie said to watch
- 3:46it. It was pretty informative and
- 3:48like I only realized recently when someone I saw someone on
- 3:52Reddit like mentioned, like yeah, miracles, the best movie
- 3:54ever. Like the Disney did a great job
- 3:56in 2004 and I'm like, wait, what?
- 3:58So. Thank God they had did a great
- 4:00job. It doesn't for us.
- 4:01So you could you would have started arguing with this guy in
- 4:04the comments being like it actually was not that.
- 4:06Good. So now I have to watch another
- 4:10Miracle movie and yeah, so sorry.
- 4:13Sorry about that Jiggy Huge. Deal.
- 4:16This is a huge deal, not only because I'm personally
- 4:18devastated, but after Josh watched what I thought was
- 4:22Miracle on Ice, I thought we had a thing where I was like, you
- 4:26know what? Good on you, Josh.
- 4:28Thanks for being awesome. You have the first trading dips
- 4:32with me. Lo and behold, we just gotta
- 4:35trade done. OK, He he sends me Kucherov and
- 4:39anyway, I don't wanna spoil it cause it's gonna be like in the
- 4:41later in the episode, but essentially the crux of it was I
- 4:44got Coochie got dry settled. More on that later.
- 4:46But the whole premise of that was that you saw Miracle on Ice.
- 4:52So I was like, you know what? So cool, really.
- 4:54Thanks man, I appreciate it cause I've been begging you guys
- 4:56to watch it forever and it was the wrong one.
- 4:58And then he waits until after training with me.
- 5:01Just told. Me, I just found out and I will.
- 5:04Say yeah, I'm sure you did indeed.
- 5:06Convenient that as soon as the train gets processed, do you
- 5:11find out that you wash the wrong go on ice?
- 5:17Now I will say it's even more impressive the one that I
- 5:21watched, OK, because yours was probably actually like a sick
- 5:24movie and I'm gonna watch it OK. And and actually reasonable,
- 5:27like better. OK.
- 5:28The one I watched is like 2 1/2 hours.
- 5:30I can't even remember if it was black and white or not.
- 5:32And like it was. It was like you honestly.
- 5:36Now, Kate, I'm. I'm treating you.
- 5:37Now I'm gonna watch the actual miracle.
- 5:39You have to watch this one. OK, Deal.
- 5:41I needed to see what I went through.
- 5:42And you'll you'll appreciate even more than what I did for
- 5:45you. OK, fine, fine.
- 5:47Let's get into. Our tour 2 weeks ago.
- 5:49Update now. But Oh my God, what a thing.
- 5:51Yeah. OK, so two weeks ago I'm pretty
- 5:55excited about mine and actually all of them are great.
- 5:58So this is high because it's just proving how smart we are.
- 6:00So two weeks ago I recommended Seth Jones as a buy low.
- 6:04Since then he's played six games, three goals, 2 assists, 5
- 6:08points, 5 power play points. The Floridas waking up with more
- 6:12on that in about two minutes. But yeah, Seth Jones was a clear
- 6:17by low. And The thing is when I said the
- 6:19buy low, it was like you can buy him for pennies, right?
- 6:21I don't expect him to keep getting, you know, 5 power play
- 6:23points every six games, but he is really popping off the bat.
- 6:26The back cats are also there, other than his last game, which
- 6:29was straight zeros. Even with that, his last two
- 6:31weeks average is unreal. So yes, I'm very happy with that
- 6:34and I hope people bought low on him because the chance may have
- 6:37tried up at this point. Yeah, agreed.
- 6:40Yeah, he was borderline dropped before and now I think he's the
- 6:42guy that you want on your team. Yeah, exactly.
- 6:45Going on to another interesting 1.
- 6:47And I don't wanna keep saying every time that we choose to buy
- 6:50low and they don't pop off immediately that like there's
- 6:52still a buy low. We're not wrong, but this is
- 6:54still a bylaw. We're not wrong.
- 6:55OK, so we have Nico Hischer of the New Jersey Devils.
- 6:59Since we recommended him six games, one goal, one assist, 2
- 7:02points. He did have some solid backpack
- 7:04games in terms of shots and hits, and I just think that the
- 7:08Hughes injury is gonna make him improve to where we think he
- 7:13should be even faster than originally expected.
- 7:15But I don't expect him to become worse once Huge comes back.
- 7:17Or like, maybe not as good, but like, he's still gonna be good,
- 7:20yeah. Yeah, he gets with Jasper Brad,
- 7:22which is now a big deal. Because it NHL.
- 7:26Exactly. If you're part of the Brat Pack,
- 7:28you know what? You know what that means?
- 7:30You have to learn the acronym now that you have Brad on your
- 7:33team. We'll see.
- 7:34Honestly, I'm committed to a bit, so maybe I will.
- 7:37He just got 2 points in the last four games.
- 7:40Six games into recommended him. He's been shooting a lot more
- 7:42like his last four games shot 2343 double digit faceoff wins.
- 7:46He's hitting his blocking like this is still the type of player
- 7:49that I really wanted my team. He hasn't he hasn't gone to the
- 7:53level that we talking about, we're talking about below.
- 7:55So he's still a buy low. I think better days are soon
- 7:59ahead. Yeah, I've been spending on
- 8:00sending nonstop, he sure offers. I know the.
- 8:02Owner owner wants like value for him as if he's playing well and
- 8:06I'm like it's not a Viola paying for the full price, you know so
- 8:10so yeah, you know, that's that's the great one.
- 8:12And then this one's probably the best one we had of this two
- 8:15weeks ago update Sam Reinhart since we recommended him six
- 8:19games played, four goals, 5 assists, 9 points, power play
- 8:22points short these shots, hits face off wins.
- 8:24He does it all. That's why he was the second
- 8:26round pick. And if your named Kevin and you
- 8:28traded for him right before the pop off then you are extremely
- 8:32happy and everyone should have it because we recommended it.
- 8:35Yeah, I listened to this episode and I was just like, you know
- 8:37what? Yeah, I'm going to try to buy
- 8:39low. That's right, heart.
- 8:40And then I did, and then he popped off and now I'm.
- 8:42Happy fully do that. I fully like I'll be like, you
- 8:44know, I'm always sending trades. But then after a while I'll be
- 8:46like, OK, you know, maybe I haven't thought of someone,
- 8:48whatever. And then like be listening to
- 8:49one of our Bilo, sorry, our bullshit episodes and I'll be
- 8:52like, Oh my God, yeah, this is such a good point that we made.
- 8:56We should you should follow. Through.
- 8:57Yeah, exactly. Yeah, I.
- 8:59Was really, really happy with this one and you're really just
- 9:03reaping the rewards right now if you have them.
- 9:06Yeah. So he's honestly like the
- 9:08Florida team was just underperforming like crazy
- 9:10offensively and now they picked it up.
- 9:12He's the best offensive player on this team.
- 9:14Even with to Chuck and Barkov there, he's like at least he's
- 9:18in that category. So they're just going to have
- 9:20like another catalyst for being better when trucks back.
- 9:23I love it. Keep riding the wave because the
- 9:26buy low window is closed. Yes, it's over.
- 9:28Yeah. But if you if you capitalize,
- 9:31Congrats. Yeah, alright, let's get to the
- 9:34cell heist again. I think we sniped 3 for three on
- 9:37this one. Dawson Mercer.
- 9:38Six games played, one goal, 0 assists, one point.
- 9:41The inevitable drop off has happened.
- 9:43If you got any value for him, I'm very happy that you
- 9:46listened. And if not, he's honestly like
- 9:49if he keeps this up, he's nearing dropped territory.
- 9:52The deployment is still like you're still OK.
- 9:55The deployment is not terrible, but he was producing at such a
- 9:57higher rate then people were excited about the Dawson Mercer
- 10:00name and that's why we recommended to sell him.
- 10:02If you did and you got like a student in roster for the rest
- 10:05of the season, you're making out like a bandit right now.
- 10:08Then we had for goalies, Logan Thompson.
- 10:10Since then, five games, two wins, three goals against,
- 10:14average .892 save percentage. I don't know if everyone, all
- 10:17our viewers remember, but two weeks ago he, I don't think he
- 10:19had a single game where he had more than two goals.
- 10:21They were just, he was just killing it.
- 10:23And this is another amazing cell high if he pulled it off.
- 10:27Two weeks ago, his goalie stats were 1.45 goals against average
- 10:32.938 save percentage and he had one, I think 5 out of his six
- 10:36games. So that's it was a glaring
- 10:39numbers that yeah, Washington is not gonna be doing this well.
- 10:42And the fact that he also has a name pool, like hopefully you're
- 10:45able to to tear up and maybe get like an auto injury.
- 10:48Vasilevsky at the time, maybe you should Durkin like those are
- 10:50the names that we set the target.
- 10:52If you were able to make any of those deals happen like you're
- 10:54thrilled right now. Yeah, honestly, you know, what I
- 10:56love is if in our YouTube comments for our bullshit
- 10:59episodes, if people can mention, you know, if they pulled off
- 11:02some of our recommendations and they could send their their
- 11:05chats in the comments. I would love to see what people
- 11:07manage to pull off and. I would love to see that as
- 11:09well. So we're listening to this and
- 11:11you pulled off an amazing trade after listening to one of our
- 11:14episodes. Even without listening to one of
- 11:15our episodes. Let us know in the comments
- 11:17below what you were able to pull off.
- 11:19Honestly gives inspiration to others to do the same.
- 11:21And also it's just like really fun to gloat about a good trade
- 11:23you pulled off. Exactly.
- 11:25YouTube, Spotify or Apple anywhere give us the comment and
- 11:28yeah, really cool to see. Exactly And then our last one
- 11:32from the two weeks ago update, we had Leo Carlson since then,
- 11:34eight games, five goals, 3 assists, eight points, which
- 11:36looks great, but only two points in his last five games played.
- 11:39So he like, you know, we recommended the sell high.
- 11:41He kept popping off for a game or two, but then the Cliff has
- 11:44come and he's been demoted to Line 2.
- 11:46I don't think that's going to stick.
- 11:47But the fact that it's even a question is, you know, a reason
- 11:50why he should have been so high. He was ranked top three in
- 11:53probably most leagues. So if you were able to shoot for
- 11:56the stars with him like we recommended, then I think it was
- 11:58really paying off for you. Yeah, I think the window does
- 12:00sell is still there too. For sure.
- 12:02My recommendations on that one we're Brayden Point, JT Miller,
- 12:05Sam Reinhart and Hellbach. Hellbach hurt right now, so that
- 12:07doesn't really count. I mean, I still do this.
- 12:10Really. Yeah, it's only four to six
- 12:12weeks. I don't think that's the end of
- 12:13the. World OK, fair, but Brayden
- 12:15Point, JT Miller, Sam Reinhart like even though Brayden Point
- 12:19has not been there, you're. Getting point plus.
- 12:21You're getting point plus over doing that.
- 12:22Yeah, which if you do that now, even with the recent slowness of
- 12:26Leo Carlson, so I'm still there. And yeah, I mean, you still aim
- 12:30for guys with this caliber, Reinhardt, the windows done.
- 12:33But both J and Point, if you could pull that off, amazing.
- 12:36You could do Reinhart, I think, you know, one for one.
- 12:38I'm sure some leagues that will happen.
- 12:39Like, yeah, he's been popping off a little.
- 12:41Carson, if you open the game log, the the success is still
- 12:43there. So the window to sell them at
- 12:45this level is still there. Like we said, some guys stay by
- 12:49low even after the episodes. He's still sell high after the
- 12:51episode, but the window is closing.
- 12:53Yeah, but enough about the past, let's get into the presence with
- 12:57our bylaws for this week. So my Bilo for this week is Jake
- 13:02Sanderson of the Ottawa Senators.
- 13:04Sanderson is averaging .7 points per game, .3 power play points,
- 13:082.3 shots, 1.8 blocks on the season which is pretty much
- 13:11exactly in line with what we expected them.
- 13:13It's almost identical to last year with a tiny dip, but for
- 13:16the most part exactly what we're hoping.
- 13:18But over the past two weeks, he's averaged 0.37 points per
- 13:22game, zero power play points, two shots and two blocks.
- 13:25All his stats seem normal other than the 0 power play points
- 13:28which has a huge impact on his overall points.
- 13:30Ottawa as a whole has scored two on 26 power plays over the past
- 13:3410 games. Compare that to 13 on 37 to 10
- 13:38previous games. This power play should be one of
- 13:40the best in the league and the imminent return of Kashuk should
- 13:43be a huge catalyst to help it back to what it was.
- 13:45Most sends our bylaws because of this power play draw honestly,
- 13:48but Sanderson is one who got hit the hardest because he gets most
- 13:51of his points from the power play.
- 13:52Now is a great time to buy because they should turn it
- 13:54around within a week or two and here are my targets.
- 13:56I think you can get Sanderson plus from Outsider, Miro
- 14:00Heiskanen, Mikhail Sergachev, Seth Jones, Jacob Chicken.
- 14:04I think if you could, you might have to, you know, add a little
- 14:06plus to some of these guys. But some of these I think you
- 14:08can do straight one for one. No, I think he's going for
- 14:10something he's done straight straight one for one.
- 14:13You could probably get some plus for his, you know, what he's
- 14:15doing right now. I think same with cider.
- 14:18I love the circuit chip trade because you're also giving away
- 14:20a bad playoff schedule and getting a really good playoff
- 14:23schedule and return. I think Seth Jones recently has
- 14:25popped off so you can get a great deal done in there as
- 14:27well. And Jacob Chicken slowly that
- 14:28has been like, you know, building up his value again.
- 14:31If you're able to capitalize on how to get a jig Sanderson in a
- 14:33one for one trade, I think that would be amazing.
- 14:35I just traded away Sanderson. I'm really sad I had to, but I
- 14:38got back a brat and Reinhardt. So listen, it wasn't I think it
- 14:42wasn't a one for two, but there was there was other pieces.
- 14:45But Sanders, it was definitely the best player that I gave and
- 14:48I listen, if I did it hadn't just traded with the guy, I
- 14:50would try to buy him again. So I really love this.
- 14:54I'm high on Ottawa, as you, most of you have known if you listen
- 14:58to me earlier in the season where I had like 4/5 of their
- 15:00power play on my team. Yeah, now that the 3/5 with
- 15:04Sanderson gone, which is sad, but I think the looming return
- 15:07of of construct like you said is a great point that it's just
- 15:09going to raise the tide on all the all players on this team.
- 15:12They're going through a slump, but I think it's around the
- 15:15corner is the bright side. Yeah, this is my favorite choice
- 15:19this week to to be completely honest.
- 15:21And I yeah, you got it before I I did that.
- 15:26That's what happened. I think he's I think there's a
- 15:30certain offensive caliber that Jake Sanderson can hit, which is
- 15:34in the elite company. It's like in the realm of
- 15:38talking about, you know, in two years from now, let's say Quinn
- 15:41Hughes and Macar. And they don't they didn't that
- 15:44didn't happen overnight, but Quinn Hughes took a little while
- 15:47to Anderson's really young and this is the year I think he's
- 15:49going to actually have like a breakout 65 point plus year.
- 15:53His pace is not that bad, but it's just as of late that it's
- 15:57really not been good. So it's because he's going
- 16:01through this right now that we're recommending him as a buy
- 16:03low. And I expect him, especially
- 16:06with talk coming back in the somewhat near future to just go
- 16:08off. I really, really like it.
- 16:10And he's one of my favorite offensive defensemen.
- 16:13The only one. And I know you said you could,
- 16:15you know, get Sanderson plus for cider.
- 16:17Cider is probably the only one where I'm like, OK, I think I'd
- 16:19rather later on my team because of the peripheral categories,
- 16:23but you know, by a country mile over Haskin and Sergachev, Jones
- 16:27and chicken, easy. How many similes is a country
- 16:30mile? Three.
- 16:32OK, no, but if you say anybody. Knows.
- 16:39Tell us in the comments. Yeah, exactly, Exactly.
- 16:41Yeah. But no, I really love it.
- 16:43It's a great, great Bilo choice. Thank you very much.
- 16:46I think I have all your defensemen.
- 16:48Yeah, senators and headmen are like the glaring names, too high
- 16:51to try to get on our team. But I will not be talking about
- 16:54defenseman. I will be talking about a guy I
- 16:56literally just mentioned who I stuck to my guns and I traded
- 16:59for him. And I'm telling everybody else
- 17:00trade for him too, because it is Jesper Brat.
- 17:03Of the New Jersey Devil. The acronym, yeah.
- 17:07But thank you, Josh. Yeah.
- 17:11So listen, yes, for Brad is a stud.
- 17:13Whoever. Over the last month, he's
- 17:14averaging 0.54 points per game. I should have been me, yeah.
- 17:19Last year, last season he averaged 1.09 points per game.
- 17:23Literally he's averaging half over the last month of what he
- 17:26did last year. Even if you think Brad will be
- 17:28worse this year than he was last year, he still should be
- 17:31hovering over around a point per game at a minimum.
- 17:35Is is what I believe one of the main reasons for the negative
- 17:38form right now is the power play.
- 17:39It's been struggling, last year had the third best power play
- 17:41converting at a rate of 28.3% and this year there are 12 in
- 17:45the league at 22.6%. The power play is due to be
- 17:48significantly better and we saw these devils that the devil
- 17:50studs average 0.4 points per game last season.
- 17:54The elephant in the room is Jaq's injury and how does this
- 17:57impact Brat? Yes losing your partner and Jack
- 17:59Hertz but to be honest we've seen Brad have success even with
- 18:02Hughes out and he still gets to play with T-shirt.
- 18:06I think now he is the best forward on the team.
- 18:08He's gonna become talismanic for this team.
- 18:10All the offence goes through him.
- 18:11They're stuck in the lines right now to get the most out of all
- 18:14their best players. And he's playing over 20 minutes
- 18:17a night with Nico. He sure all the important
- 18:19minutes he's gonna be playing. Before this Jack Hughes injury,
- 18:22he was averaging 16 to 18 minutes a game.
- 18:24Now he's been playing over 20 minutes of game.
- 18:26So it just goes to show that he's important.
- 18:28They want him on the ice. And also, if you play, I wanted
- 18:32to add this like I don't know if you saw his last shootout goal,
- 18:34but it was nasty. No financial leads have points
- 18:38for shootouts, but they should because Brett would be a monster
- 18:41at that. That would be cool, right?
- 18:45Which also encouraging with Brat is his shots and hits have been
- 18:49consistent all year. He'll get you a little over two
- 18:50shots. He'll get you a hit a game.
- 18:52All the metrics have been there. It's just the points of
- 18:54significantly regressed and the power play has not been as good.
- 18:57New Jersey as a whole, they're extremely beaten up right now.
- 18:59I feel like they have injuries all all through the lineup,
- 19:01goalie, defensemen, forwards, like everybody, everybody's hurt
- 19:05feels like. But if you're looking for an
- 19:07elite player to buy, I think he's one of the glaring names.
- 19:10Like for me, Reinhart and Brad were like the two wingers that
- 19:13were drafted in the second or third or fourth round in your
- 19:15leagues, still high pedigree that have over point per game
- 19:18potential that are not producing anywhere near close to it.
- 19:21We saw the bounce back happen with Reinhardt.
- 19:23I think the bounce back is about to happen with Brad as well.
- 19:25Like it might seem counter intuitive because Brat is
- 19:29playing without Jack Hughes now. Sort of like, how is he gonna
- 19:32get better? But he's going to play more
- 19:34important minutes. He's the focal point of the
- 19:36offence now. They rely on him to score the
- 19:38goals, to get the goals going. And he's still playing with an
- 19:41exceptional senator like Nico Hischer.
- 19:43So that's why we're saying, OK, we're saying Nico Hischer.
- 19:46I think better days are shortly ahead because he's playing with
- 19:49with Brat. Same goes the other way around.
- 19:51And also, I think one of the best trades that you can do is
- 19:55getting a better playoff schedule.
- 19:57So if you're holding on to like these guys that like from Utah
- 20:00or Nashville and you're able to swap in those.
- 20:04Playoff schedules for Brad, who has a 344, I think it's an
- 20:08exceptional move and he's super attainable right now because his
- 20:12back categories are not exceptional enough that people
- 20:15are like really valuing them. And his points have not been
- 20:19there .5 points over the last month is nothing to nothing to
- 20:22talk about in in high regards. So I think you can trade Malkin
- 20:24in a package for Brat right now. I think connect any can be done
- 20:28for Brett right now. Elena has been super hot.
- 20:31He could be traded for Brat right now.
- 20:33Will Smith has basically been doing what Brat we want Brad to
- 20:36do. He's a glaring regression
- 20:38candidate. I think you can make a swap and
- 20:40on the higher end I think Gunther also can make it done.
- 20:42I'm not saying these are one for one guys that you trade for
- 20:45Brat, but in a package A2 for one I think they can easily get
- 20:47done. Yeah, I'm with you there for
- 20:51sure. The other important thing to
- 20:53look at is that his power play points have basically been half
- 20:56of last year. And then the most glaring thing
- 20:59here is that in the past two years, Jock Hughes missed 20
- 21:02games in both seasons, 62 in 2324 and 62 games played in
- 21:082425. So with that, yes, for Brat over
- 21:12those two seasons, basically playing a full season has gone
- 21:1483 and 88 points respectively. That means that he has proven to
- 21:19be a decent there even without Jackie.
- 21:21This is not the first time this has happened.
- 21:23And you know, given the fact that Jack Hughes is probably
- 21:25going vegan and all playing with steak knives after this whole
- 21:27thing, I think that hopefully when he's back, he's healthy all
- 21:31season. And there are.
- 21:33Better playing with the team Mccree I don't know if.
- 21:35You saw that? I didn't see that.
- 21:37Really. Yeah.
- 21:39Yeah, there's a picture of them together and people weren't sure
- 21:42if they were on a date or if she was his designated food cutter
- 21:44for a restaurant. Honestly, he he better have been
- 21:49at like a like a ramen restaurant where like no knives
- 21:52are are seen. But anyways, all this to say yes
- 21:57for Brad has proven to be a successful and a great player
- 22:00over the past few years. He's on pace for 74 points right
- 22:03now and that's with like a huge slump as of late, as Kevin
- 22:07mentioned. So these things are going to
- 22:09turn up and then he should be in an 85 point plus guy and very,
- 22:14very in the near future. Is it gonna happen that his pace
- 22:17is going to get better? Yep, fully agree.
- 22:20Nothing much to add from me other than I agree with this.
- 22:22From top to bottom, targets are great.
- 22:24You might have to package A2 for one like Evan said, but together
- 22:27I might think might even get done one for one.
- 22:29And I'm just jealous that Kevin pulled the trigger in our league
- 22:34because otherwise I'd be out there sending offers as we
- 22:36speak. But but Kevin is not going to
- 22:38give him up because he knows he's a huge at the bottom.
- 22:41Yeah. But I traded just for everybody
- 22:43knows, I traded Jake Sanderson, Travis Connect me, Logan Cooley.
- 22:48And remember, this was like a week and a half, two weeks ago
- 22:51after our previous Bilo episode, so players were in different
- 22:54form than they are now. But I treated those three guys
- 22:55for Sam Reinhart, who at the time was averaging 0.5 points
- 22:59per game, which is crazy when you look at what he's been doing
- 23:01over the last week. Jesper Bratt and Vince Dunn.
- 23:04Vince Dunn was kind of there to mitigate the Jake Sanderson
- 23:06loss, but I think Brad and Reinhart are the two best
- 23:09players in that trade and the fact that I was able to get
- 23:11them. It was, it was a huge fleece.
- 23:13Obviously I was like so upset because.
- 23:15You know, in the moment, it was like, are these guys gonna
- 23:18bounce back? And I pulled the trigger and the
- 23:19bounce back immediately. And I'm just like, wow, OK, I'm
- 23:21happy I did that. So just for everyone out there,
- 23:24sometimes the bylaws aren't gonna bounce back immediately
- 23:26like that, and it's still a good move, OK?
- 23:28But sometimes you get immediately rewarded and that
- 23:31feels great as well. Listen, I bought Brat and now
- 23:33I'm recommending others others to buy him, so hopefully you
- 23:36guys take our advice and you'll reap the rewards.
- 23:38Yeah, alright, Jackie, hit us with your controversial,
- 23:42controversial Bilo. Nothing, nothing brings us
- 23:45together as friends like my buy low sell high recommendations.
- 23:49Sometimes we're allowed to disagree.
- 23:50This is one of those that I think we disagree, but listen,
- 23:53the conversation is there. Yeah.
- 23:55And I think Jake is a perspective is really important.
- 23:57Like no, no, no, no shade actually.
- 23:59Like I think a lot of times Kevin and I are in agreement and
- 24:01JQ will be a bit more out there. But like we've seen time and
- 24:04again where he's been right about things.
- 24:06So I think it's it's really nice having that other perspective.
- 24:11Thanks man. And I, and I think that before
- 24:15diving into this, I gotta give you all a good old profit ache
- 24:18about how this is really a deep league transaction.
- 24:23It's not like in an A-Team or 10 team league necessarily, but
- 24:27like when you're going to 1214 teams I.
- 24:29Think you told me 10 team league you'd rather have him on that
- 24:32Both players. Yeah, we'll see.
- 24:35Let him get into it and I'll roast him.
- 24:37Right now, now that was before I knew that you had trocheck on
- 24:40your on your waivers, which is crazy.
- 24:43To play more 10 team leagues. So if you have trocheck on your
- 24:46waivers, you could pick them up over this guy, but nevertheless,
- 24:51OK, everyone who listens knows that I'm resident size queen on
- 24:55the banker management fantasy hockey podcast.
- 24:58It's true. So it's no surprise that for my
- 25:02buy low this week I am recommending of the Washington
- 25:06Capital, standing at six foot 6200 and £25.
- 25:10An absolute monster with incredible skating ability on
- 25:14the ice. Aliaxis Parodius.
- 25:18Cool. First of all, Aliaxis.
- 25:23I don't know any other Aliaxis, so he's easily the best Aliaxis
- 25:26in the NHL. But second of all, fantasy
- 25:29unfortunately does not reward for how tall players are.
- 25:33But we're here for some cold hard stats and that's why I
- 25:36think that protest is a great buy.
- 25:39Low. Firstly, the Metropolitan
- 25:41Division is extremely tight right now.
- 25:44It seems like just yesterday that the Capitals were in last
- 25:46place despite Logan Thompson being an absolute beast, but
- 25:49they've quickly jumped to 5th after putting up two insane
- 25:52victories over the Oilers and Canadians.
- 25:54In that span they scored fifteen goals, which is wild in two
- 25:59games and now they're also letting in a lot of goals.
- 26:01As we mentioned earlier that Logan Thompson has not been
- 26:05performing in the same caliber that he was anyways, so now
- 26:08they're winning by outscoring in high scoring games.
- 26:11They also won the game before that at the time of this
- 26:14recording which is 2 to one against the Los Angeles Kings
- 26:17and over that span. He actually has three points in
- 26:20his last three games. But the participation rate,
- 26:24which is essentially the players points divided by the teams
- 26:28total goals, he has three points, 17 goals scored by the
- 26:32team, which is 17.6 percent. And that's really not anything
- 26:38to write home about. On the season he's at 19%, which
- 26:41is also really not that great. But to give you an idea, last
- 26:44season he averaged .87 points per game, 66 points and 77 games
- 26:49was his total. And he had the participation
- 26:51rate at 24.6, which is definitely substantially better
- 26:55than where it is this year. To give you an idea, he would be
- 26:58at 17 points over the 21 games as opposed to 13, which is we'd
- 27:04be thinking about that a lot differently and considering it
- 27:08was a main like mainly like just a late round pick in your
- 27:11leagues. Protis also ranks second in time
- 27:14on ice per game for the Capitals, trailing only Tom
- 27:16Wilson for their forwards. And very sadly that has nothing
- 27:20to do with any power play one, which is basically kind of Hagel
- 27:23Light vibes. Bottom line, this is a good
- 27:26player on a team that's already scoring much more than they were
- 27:28to start the season and he's going to get the minutes and the
- 27:32opportunities. He's already proven to be a good
- 27:34player and because he's under everyone's radar, I think you
- 27:37could get him for basically nothing.
- 27:39This is not a flashy name and the best thing you could really
- 27:43do here, which is I think where you guys would maybe actually
- 27:45agree, even though not necessarily with the player, but
- 27:48the concept of what you can do this the best thing.
- 27:52You can send him into two for two or three for three, and you
- 27:55would basically be getting him back as like a side piece in the
- 27:58trade. But trust me, you can do worse
- 28:00than having protests as your side piece.
- 28:01What? OK, cool.
- 28:03Anyways, for the targets I'm going to list, these are players
- 28:08who I think should be part of the trade you're sending for
- 28:11protest. However, the best thing really
- 28:13just to hammer that home is the package and you can get a big
- 28:16upgrade at the higher end. For an example, it could be
- 28:19something like Protis and Horvat for Voronkov and Matthews,
- 28:23right? That doesn't sound so, so crazy
- 28:26to me. That's just like a good two for
- 28:28two. But the one for one targets I'm
- 28:30looking at are Jackson, Blake, IF Kenny Malkin, Steven Stamkos,
- 28:33which you could literally just pull off as a name value, and
- 28:35Jack Roslovic. What do you think?
- 28:38I. Actually, you had me until the
- 28:41last sentence, like actually like, you know what?
- 28:43I'm I'm gonna give you this one. I do think he's gonna be better
- 28:46than he has been. So in that sense, he could be a
- 28:47Bilo. Look, I'm not dying to get him
- 28:49on my team because for me personally, if he's not
- 28:51someone's not power play 1 and they're not a banger, then I'm
- 28:54not the most interested. But would I rather have him than
- 28:57a guy picked off on on waivers who's like on a hot streak?
- 29:00100%. So I actually like and I like
- 29:02the way you mentioned of having it in a 2 for two, something
- 29:04like that. One big disagreement I have is I
- 29:06don't think there's any way in hell you're getting Frankoff and
- 29:09Matthews for Proteus and Horvat. This coming as a Horvat owner
- 29:11who was killing it. I just, I think Matthews is
- 29:13better than Hornet and Franco is better than Produce.
- 29:15So so that example, I just think there's no chance it happens.
- 29:19But everything else I like. And then in terms of your
- 29:22targets, I like the black one, I like the Roslovic one, I like
- 29:25the Stamkos. I would take take produce over
- 29:27all three of those guys. Malkin, even though I'm very low
- 29:30on him, I think I still take him over produce.
- 29:32I meant to say you get Produce and Matthews for Horvat and
- 29:34Brankov. OK, that makes a lot more sense.
- 29:38Yes. Yeah, that makes a lot more
- 29:40sense, yeah. Does that?
- 29:42Is that better? Do you see what I'm?
- 29:44Saying definitely, it's definitely better and I get
- 29:45worse the vibe, the vibe makes more sense, right?
- 29:49You get exactly what you were saying with what your whole you
- 29:52know what you were saying about it is like you take products as
- 29:55you downgrade piece, you take them as the downgrade piece and
- 29:58A2 for two where you upgrade at the other one.
- 30:00But in your head you're like, it's actually not that big of a
- 30:02downgrade because you should be doing better in that sense.
- 30:04I fully agree. And I think and that makes a lot
- 30:06more sense. Yeah.
- 30:07So, yeah. So yeah, no, I agree with
- 30:08everything said. And I guess in terms of targets,
- 30:10it's just, I think I think Malkin's a better than produce.
- 30:12But everything else, I think it's just maybe it's not that
- 30:16like I don't know about Kevin, I want to say in a SEC, but I
- 30:19think it's more just like that. It's a lower stakes by low than
- 30:22we're used to as opposed to not being a buy low.
- 30:24Yeah, yeah, see that's that's kind of where I'm at.
- 30:27Is that like when you when Protis is part of the Matthew
- 30:30side of it who Matthew is also quite the bylaw right now.
- 30:33He's just injured. So I didn't wanna like add him
- 30:35this week, but we're about him Brankov, right.
- 30:38Like they're performing really, really well and I think you're
- 30:41like protist to Veronica was not that difference in Matthew
- 30:43should be way better than Horvat.
- 30:46Yeah, you're. Saying, I mean, listen, I, I, I
- 30:48understand the concept, Jake. You won't be surprised what I'm
- 30:51about to say because we talked about it at length before
- 30:53recording this episode. But I, I, I would say like
- 30:57disagree with a lot of this just because it, I don't think the
- 31:00ceiling is high for produce. I think last season he got .87
- 31:03points per game without any power play.
- 31:05I think that was a miracle to be honest.
- 31:06And we saw Washington just do like, have a.
- 31:08String out of miracle again. I just think the ceiling is not
- 31:12high for him. Like I think this season he can
- 31:13get point 7.75 points per game. He'll get you 2 shots, not even
- 31:17a hit, not even a block, no power play.
- 31:19So why do I want a guy that has .7 points, .75 at the Max let's
- 31:23say, and no power play exposure, no bangers.
- 31:26I just think you can stream better production to be honest.
- 31:28Like I'd rather have Paul Mary, I'd rather have Eberley, I'd
- 31:32rather have like Jason Zucker. Like these are guys that are
- 31:35widely available in most leagues that I would take ahead of
- 31:38protists just because the power play is a huge deal and he's
- 31:41not. He's not getting on that P1.
- 31:42You'd rather him over Zucker? Oh, we lost Kevin.
- 31:47You mean he he said he would rather Zucker over over produce.
- 31:50And what he's saying it's it's like it's the power play 1
- 31:53exposure. But I also get what you're
- 31:54saying. In which case, like you make
- 31:56that too for two, where in the other person's mind produce is
- 31:59way worse. Or as in your mind, he's only
- 32:01like, you know, maybe he's equal to one of these like lower name
- 32:04guys, and then you get to make an upgrade in the other sense.
- 32:06So I definitely I get where you're going with this.
- 32:08And I don't think it's the craziest thing either.
- 32:10I don't think he's gonna repeat what he did last year.
- 32:12I think even you had mentioned, like I said, I don't like guys
- 32:15who aren't power play our bankers and you mentioned about
- 32:17Hagel and I'm like even Hagel is not doing what he did last year,
- 32:20right? Like I still think that he's a
- 32:21great player, but like it just it's hard to sustain that kind
- 32:25of offence when you're not getting power play opportunity.
- 32:27So even if you're an amazing player, I feel like you're like
- 32:30ceiling is like .8 with that kind of deployment.
- 32:33Yeah. So like last year, just as an
- 32:36example, Hagel was at like 1.1 points per game, which is great.
- 32:41And that's like no power play exposure.
- 32:42So I totally, totally understand your perspective of kind of just
- 32:46being able to hit near that ceiling.
- 32:49But let me ask you something. Who had more points per game
- 32:53last year, Cole Caulfield or Alexa?
- 32:55Alexa protest. It's, you know, in in the law,
- 32:58this is called the leading question because I.
- 33:00Know exactly what? You're going at this.
- 33:03Yeah. And I know all my law firm
- 33:05movies. So if that's wrong, don't roast
- 33:06me in the comments. No, but look, it's I'm not
- 33:09talking about produce last year. It's just like you see these
- 33:12kind of things pop up with like the Hagel and produce last year.
- 33:14It's maintaining its season over season, which is difficult.
- 33:18But I don't hate it. Like I said, like if you do it
- 33:19in that too for two and you're like, you're like, oh, I'll take
- 33:22I'll take produce off your hands, but you have to give me
- 33:24an upgrade for it. And in your head you're like,
- 33:25I'm actually feeling pretty good about both pieces and return
- 33:28then I like it. Like and, and one other one that
- 33:32we were going to mention and Kevin is Kevin's teleported away
- 33:36from us. But if he was here, we.
- 33:39Were speaking about this off the podcast from the day this
- 33:42episode drops, which is November 24th.
- 33:46Who's going to get more points between November 24th and the
- 33:49end of the fantasy season, barring injury, Alexa Protester
- 33:52or Salvadora Phev? Oh, you gotta, you gotta go door
- 33:57Phev. Alright, well I'm on the protest
- 33:59side points by the way. Like I still think the shots are
- 34:01gonna be better, the girls are gonna be better, and I'd rather
- 34:03Dora fave on my team. But Kevin and I suggested we do
- 34:07one beer bed and he responded with 10 beers and $100.00.
- 34:11So I was like. OK, that's a lot.
- 34:14OK, let's do one beer. But.
- 34:16Yes. Are you both taking the other
- 34:18side here? I'm happy to jump in on this if
- 34:20you're willing to take double the beers.
- 34:23Well that means you guys have to drink 2 beers too.
- 34:25If if. That's not how it works.
- 34:27You make the vet individually with each of us, so either we
- 34:29both drink one or. You drink?
- 34:30No, no, no. That's fine, I don't care, I'll
- 34:33do 2 beers. Yeah, I think Torfs gonna get
- 34:36more points. It's just that power play 1 I
- 34:37think is lethal. And yes, he is a bit of A1 trick
- 34:40pony in terms of goals versus assists, but it'll be
- 34:42interesting to see. November 24 to the end of the
- 34:44season. I'm on the We're not doing
- 34:47Kevin's $100 plus. 10 years. Suggestions.
- 34:50So that's not happening, but it's 2 beers or two for just two
- 34:55years for Kevin if they lose now.
- 34:57Yeah, What happened was, is that Kevin, Kevin's computer?
- 35:02Kind of. It's like graphics card died.
- 35:04Yeah, so that's why, well, he'll be back probably next episode.
- 35:09Nevertheless, he phrased it as honestly gods wanted to spare me
- 35:16from him roasting me for my day. I think it's more the fantasy
- 35:19gods wanted to spare you the listeners from Kevin and me
- 35:24being anti protest. So I think that that's really
- 35:27the best way to look at this. Wouldn't that just be like and
- 35:30Titus? Because if you got pro and then
- 35:34anti, it is. So funny.
- 35:38It sounds like a brutal disease though.
- 35:40Like y'all are. And Titus?
- 35:41Yeah. I'm sorry your fantasies team
- 35:45has been diagnosed with antis. Antis.
- 35:47Wow, wow. Yeah, so.
- 35:49Test shows up for the rest of the season, but let's go on to
- 35:52our So High. Oh my God this is so brutal.
- 35:56You're. I know, Kevin, just not here to
- 35:59defend himself. Yeah, which is great because the
- 36:01fantasy gods against sparing everyone.
- 36:03So my cell high for this week is Yaroslav Askerov of the San Jose
- 36:07Sharks. Now, I'm going to preface this
- 36:09by saying he is still a sick goalie and I would hold him all
- 36:13season. OK?
- 36:13I don't think this is one of these.
- 36:14He's going to drop off the face of the earth and you need to
- 36:16dump him now type of thing. This is just he's performing way
- 36:18too high and you can tear up very significantly.
- 36:22Also sorry Kevin in brackets because he picked up Askerov and
- 36:25kind of his whole teen rides on that because he went with no
- 36:27goalies. So not to throw shade at Kevin
- 36:30who can't defend himself, but that's where we're at.
- 36:32So let's dive into this. Ask her off.
- 36:34Take Astros on an insane tear of the past month.
- 36:36His statin starting November 1st are seven games played, six
- 36:40wins. That's an 86% win percentage,
- 36:421.51 goals against average .952 save percentage.
- 36:47To compare with just a random guy, last year Connor Hellebuyck
- 36:52stats were 75% win percentage, two goals against average, 925
- 36:57safe percentage. Askerov is playing at such an
- 37:00unsustainable level it's even better than Connor Hellebuyck
- 37:02insane season from last year. If you need a bigger sign that
- 37:06says this is not sustainable, even Connor Hellebuyck will
- 37:09never do what Connor Hellebuyck did last year.
- 37:11OK let's just put it that way. So Yaroslav asked her of of the
- 37:15San Jose Sharks 202526 is not going to do better than Connor
- 37:19Hellebuyck last year season. OK now let me read you a list of
- 37:22names. Orlov, Lilligren, Klingberg,
- 37:25Ferraro, Dickinson, Darnay. Does this sound like a decor
- 37:29that's going to help their goalie maintain these kind of
- 37:31stats or does this sound like a boyfriend you don't want to
- 37:33listen to? OK this is like this is a list
- 37:37of names that I'm like, this is one of the decors of all time.
- 37:40Like this is literally probably one of the worst courses I've
- 37:44seen. It just does not make sense.
- 37:46Despite this hot streak, San Jose is still ranked 24th in the
- 37:49NHL. The fact is Askerov is clearly
- 37:52going to be an amazing goalie for years to come, but San Jose
- 37:54is just not a good enough team for him to maintain anything
- 37:57close to these numbers. You probably picked him up as a
- 37:59free agent to be honest. If you can flip him for an
- 38:02established starter on a solid team, I'd be very happy to do
- 38:05it. So I'm going to list you some
- 38:07names of guys who I think you could target.
- 38:08Honestly, shoot for the moon. I'm putting guys who I think are
- 38:11more reasonable, but if you can package them for any of the top
- 38:13tier goalies, you try and go for it.
- 38:15Sergei Bobrovsky, Connor Hellebuyck in a package because
- 38:18of his injury. So no one obviously do one for
- 38:21one, but if you can do Askerov plus for Hellebuyck, that is the
- 38:24ultimate trade and I didn't think it would have been
- 38:27possible when he was healthy, but maybe with the injury it's
- 38:29it's possible. Still a stretch.
- 38:31Um, I would take Scott Wedgewood plus for Askerov.
- 38:34I'm at this point I'm I think I'm on Kevin's Wedgewood train.
- 38:37It took awhile, but I came. Back just in time.
- 38:39Yeah, exactly. Find some good news with my
- 38:41asker off take just to not break your heart too much.
- 38:44Linus Omark has been pretty solid lately and I trust Auto a
- 38:48lot more than I trust San Jose. Jacob Markstrom.
- 38:51There is some questions with his health so I'd wait and see what
- 38:53that Joey decorate. I love him as a volume starter
- 38:56on Seattle. Seattle 8th in the NHL right
- 38:58now. I don't know if you guys knew
- 38:59that Darcy Kemper, I think look, some of these are aiming high.
- 39:03Some of these feel like aiming low.
- 39:05The ones that are aiming high, you do Askerov plus.
- 39:07The ones that are aiming low, you do that goalie plus in
- 39:09return. But I'm happy taking all these
- 39:11guys over. Ask her off rest of the season
- 39:13and I think you can make some really nice trades with.
- 39:17Yeah, I'm totally with you on this.
- 39:20It's he's actually, you know, he he was drafted to be a great
- 39:24goalie. And I really like how you
- 39:27prefaced privated prefaced it with saying that you still want
- 39:31him on your team all year. That's very important.
- 39:33But at the end of the day, you're listing guys who have a
- 39:36proven track record of being amazing and what defensemen are
- 39:40to forwards as far as inconsistency for young
- 39:43promising players. Goalies are 10 times that to
- 39:47defenseman like this is going to be less than three weeks ago we
- 39:50were like, oh, isn't going to get the majority of the stars
- 39:53and now you have this. There's no way that this is
- 39:57going to be kept up, even though I'm the highest on San Jose out
- 40:01of all of us. I'm totally, totally with you
- 40:03here on everything you said. And I really do like the target.
- 40:06Jacob Markstrom. Scary.
- 40:07Let's just say it is scary we mentioned.
- 40:10On our definitely marks from plus if you do.
- 40:12That yeah, yeah, yeah. That's like the biggest plus
- 40:15that you can get. And in a way actually may be my
- 40:17favorite target cuz he's making decent money and they're not
- 40:19gonna keep him on the bench over Alan.
- 40:21That being said, I really just like all the names you listed
- 40:26and it's a great create sell high.
- 40:30I'm, I mean, listen, I'm the asker of owner.
- 40:31I won't go too much because I feel you guys talked about it
- 40:33enough. But I think with rotis.
- 40:36Yeah. With what he's doing right now,
- 40:39I feel like you have to try to sell them.
- 40:41At least Josh gave some great targets.
- 40:43I would say aim high and then slowly make your way down the
- 40:45list and see what you can pull off and that's my advice.
- 40:48Yeah, sure, for the moon. And if you fall short, you'll
- 40:49fall on the star, says someone who doesn't know anything about
- 40:51astronomy. Yeah, that is a scientific fact.
- 40:55The stars are smaller. So wait, I don't know.
- 41:03Gary, Kevin, are you? Are you with us enough to?
- 41:06To do this with you guys enough that I will give my sell high
- 41:09candidate because I'm actually really excited about this one.
- 41:11I think is a great sell high candidate.
- 41:13This is crazy, I love this. Yeah, I feel like this is a
- 41:17surprising pick potentially, but my pick for my cell high this
- 41:22week is William Nylander of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
- 41:26Now listen, has there ever been a less talked about board was
- 41:29I've been averaging 1.5 points per game on the season.
- 41:32I think Willie is going under the radar this season because
- 41:34Toronto's been bad, Matthew's been hurt, all the spotlights
- 41:37kind of there and like the glaring hole that Marner left on
- 41:40this team. But last year he averaged 1.02
- 41:43points per game. He's scoring 0.5 points per game
- 41:47more over the last month than what he did last year.
- 41:51First of all, at already 1.5 is a huge threshold over the last
- 41:55month, he's at 1.27. He's still shooting a lot.
- 41:58He hovers around 3:00. Maybe the loss of Matthews has
- 42:01put a lot more on his shoulders and he's been doing a lot more.
- 42:03And also just, you know, how bad the team has been without Marner
- 42:06this year is a glaring issue. And the power play has not
- 42:08recovered either. The power play is a serious
- 42:12concern, though. We're seeing first of all his
- 42:14production on the power play has been not as good as last year.
- 42:18They don't have a power play. One quarterback, Morgan Riley,
- 42:20is just not that guy and over yelled.
- 42:22They want to be that guy and he's not that guy.
- 42:26Kevin trades away Riley and all of a sudden he agrees with me.
- 42:29Listen, I I was using what was on the ice as my information
- 42:32didn't necessarily agree with it.
- 42:33No, but if the deployment is that a deployment is there.
- 42:35But nonetheless, Marner was the quarterback for this team.
- 42:38Now he's quarterbacking the Vegas power play unit, which
- 42:41also has its own issues without Mark Stone, but nonetheless,
- 42:44it's still better than the Toronto Maple Leafs power play.
- 42:48The Toronto don't think the Toronto power is going to hit
- 42:50the high that's hidden in previous years and nonetheless I
- 42:54am worried about his 585 production.
- 42:57I think right now he's producing at an exceptional rate without
- 43:00the power play to back it up. It's just risky business keeping
- 43:03him on your team for long term. And this is a guy that you
- 43:06drafted like in the second round, high second round, late
- 43:09second round. He was a second round pick in
- 43:11most leagues. If you felt 1/3 you were lucky.
- 43:14But Toronto has the least games played in the playoffs as well.
- 43:17He has a 333. Now listen, that's not the
- 43:19glaring cause. Doesn't have a two game week,
- 43:21but I think right now with what he's producing, you're able to
- 43:24flip big name William Nylander and insane production William
- 43:29Nylander for another guy. That's going to be a stunt for
- 43:32your team that has a better playoff schedule and that you
- 43:35might potentially like better rest of season.
- 43:37Um, I think the best thing that you can do is do A2 for two
- 43:41trade where you're sending Willy for another star forward with a
- 43:44better playoff schedule who you might expect similar production
- 43:47rest of season. And also that's like your
- 43:50technically ground down grading for all those on YouTube.
- 43:53You can't see me, but I'm doing quotation marks around
- 43:56technically down grading and get a better player.
- 44:00Yeah, thank you, Josh. Get a better player in the first
- 44:03trade as well. Oh sorry, I didn't see I was
- 44:05looking. Down.
- 44:07Josh, I am now The Archers, but this isn't this isn't you don't
- 44:16wanna aim too low with the guys that you're trying to get in a
- 44:19in return for for Nylander. I think you can still get
- 44:22Reinhart. I think you can get Wyatt
- 44:24Johnston, Kyle Connor, Mitch Marner, Artemi Panarin.
- 44:28And I'm not saying trade these guys one for one for Nylander.
- 44:31I'm saying if you do a 2 for two trade like Nylander plus X for
- 44:36Panarin plus X where you're taking the technical downgrade
- 44:39from Nylander to Panarin. First of all, getting way better
- 44:42schedule. Would I be shocked if Panarin
- 44:44averages a point per game rest of season?
- 44:45No Would I be shocked if need under average point per game
- 44:47rest of season? No.
- 44:49And then you get a major upgrade as the second piece, maybe like
- 44:52you get Jake Sanderson instead of and you give your, you know,
- 44:55Jacob Chicken or something. Like that's the type of deal
- 44:58where you're capitalizing on this value right now, getting a
- 45:01better playoff schedule and also strengthening your team on the
- 45:04side as well. That's really the type of trait
- 45:06that I would try to focus on making a 2 for two or three for
- 45:09three even. I think he carries a lot more
- 45:11weight than doing a one for two or something like that.
- 45:15Yeah. Well, well, well.
- 45:17The Archers has become The Archers.
- 45:19Yeah, Yeah, No, I agree with everything you're saying.
- 45:24So you would prefer obviously kind of like two types of trades
- 45:26with these types of guys, right? It's like saying there's two and
- 45:28there's also trying to aim for like 1 of the top five guys in
- 45:31the league. You prefer to do the two for two
- 45:32then the type of like package Newlander plus for like a
- 45:36McDavid McKinnon type of thing like.
- 45:38I mean, that's, that's obviously I think harder to do because
- 45:41those guys don't want to get rid of them.
- 45:42But I'm thinking like, I think the way to maximize the value
- 45:45you're getting in a trade is doing a 2 for two where you're
- 45:48getting 2 upgrades technically, as opposed to consolidating into
- 45:54a better player. Like obviously consolidating is
- 45:56always good and we we recommend consolidating whenever you can.
- 45:59Maybe you could do a Newlander plus the small piece for a
- 46:03Kucherov. Like I would love to do that,
- 46:04you know, but like the McDavid is a dry cell.
- 46:07They also have a 333. So I'm also trying to capitalize
- 46:09on getting a better playoff schedule.
- 46:10But like, do I want Kutra of or do I want McDavid and do it on
- 46:14my team? I absolutely do.
- 46:15So you can just go up or you can go down.
- 46:17I'm just thinking you're already pretty high with Nylander.
- 46:19That going down makes a lot of sense, especially if you're
- 46:22bolstering your roster with a second piece as well.
- 46:24Yeah, no, I fully agree and I love the targets you button.
- 46:28It's exactly like you said. I'm not going, I'm not going to
- 46:30repeat it fully because it's just the same thing.
- 46:31But yeah, turning these guys into like a downgrade, like, uh,
- 46:35and then getting an upgrade somewhere else.
- 46:37And then it turns out the downgrade was actually kind of
- 46:39net neutral at worst and even could be an upgrade at best and
- 46:42get a double upgrade. It's a great way of thinking
- 46:44about it. So it's usually we go with the
- 46:47classic package up for someone better, but this is also a very
- 46:50interesting kind of trade structure that benefits you a
- 46:52lot. No, for sure, it's great.
- 46:54And I think the only thing that's a bit difficult here is
- 46:59that as you mentioned basically in your first sentence is that
- 47:01he's not really spoken about as the like which which one should
- 47:07be more talk of the town than he is He's.
- 47:08Been nobody talks about. Him, yeah, I was shocked.
- 47:11He's 1.5 points per game. Honestly, I haven't been there,
- 47:13he goes on. Him.
- 47:14There you go. It's he's like Proteus of last
- 47:17year. It's a bubble it.
- 47:22You know what? Go back to the shadows.
- 47:24OK, Ballroom. You shall not pass.
- 47:33Yeah, no, but it's he he's actually a really good player in
- 47:37his own right. And I think that I'm not
- 47:39disagreeing here. I'm just saying that that it's
- 47:41tough because it's like he's not spoken about.
- 47:43He's a very good player and he's been producing a lot.
- 47:46I love the playoff schedule angle, though.
- 47:48That's really important because you kind of want to offload
- 47:50Toronto guys and even Matthews, who's kind of like a bi lo, he
- 47:55has pretty much have as many points per game as Willie this
- 47:58year, which is. A crazy thing like literally
- 48:00have. Literally, it's wild.
- 48:02And he's like, I mean, you still want good players on your team
- 48:06as you mentioned, but you can get better players schedules
- 48:09with the Panera and one I love, the Reinhart one I love and
- 48:12Marner, Kyle, Connor, Wajo are interesting to me.
- 48:16But I still think that the way that you frame it, based on how
- 48:20Kevin said, can really help your team.
- 48:24Yeah, OK, Jake, you wanna take this home with a fun, fun final
- 48:29sell high for the week? Yes yes I I'd say this is real
- 48:33fun and less controversial than my buy low.
- 48:36So I just traded for this guy lol with me.
- 48:40Yeah, yeah. Josh with Josh because he
- 48:44watched Miracle on Ice and lied to me.
- 48:47That's why I can't believe he watches the wrong here.
- 48:53Actually. Absolutely mind blowing.
- 48:56But anyways, we're gonna swap Miracle on ISIS after, so I'm
- 49:00excited to know your thoughts and I'll tell you mine.
- 49:02And anyways, whatever, we even spoke about it after, I don't
- 49:06understand how this happened, OK.
- 49:08I mean, you talked about the main story.
- 49:09It's the same story. I'm sure it wasn't done a lot
- 49:11better with Disney. That's fair.
- 49:15That's fair. But yeah, so you're gonna love
- 49:17it. And Kevin, you should watch it
- 49:19too. Wherever you are, both of them.
- 49:20But it's. On my list, I'm still here.
- 49:24Alright, so of the Carolina Hurricanes, we have Shane Gosses
- 49:30beer, and it's obviously extremely disturbing to have to
- 49:34write this as a cell high for a guy that I just bought.
- 49:37But in my defence, I didn't make the trade because he ranks get
- 49:41this tied for second among all defensemen in points per game in
- 49:45the NHL. OK, that's all.
- 49:47I made it. I'm a big believer in Ghost
- 49:50being a Beast this year, but there's a fine line between
- 49:54Beast and Todd with King, Queen Hughes and points for game.
- 49:58OK, that's not gonna stay like that.
- 50:01All right, it's interesting that you look at the Hurricanes this
- 50:06year and they trail only the Avalanche in goals per game.
- 50:09Where does their power play rank, though, last?
- 50:13Which is hilarious and where I land on this is that he's 32
- 50:20years old and we have enough of a sample size in his career to
- 50:22know that he's not going to end the season at his current pace,
- 50:25which is 7379 points in 73 games.
- 50:29He had he was injured for two games, which would mean he score
- 50:3266 over the remaining 61 games that he has.
- 50:36I think he can score 45 over the next 61 point 7.74 points per
- 50:41game rest of season, which is very good especially for a
- 50:44defenseman. And the power play points should
- 50:47realistically uptick. They're not going to be dead
- 50:48last. I doubt it because they're
- 50:51scoring quite a bit and should be a little bit better even
- 50:53though Rod is crazy all over the place, but whatever.
- 50:57As I just, you know, traded for him.
- 51:00I gave Dry Saddle and Owen Tippett for Kucherov and Ghosts.
- 51:03Just for gostisbehere. Yeah, exactly.
- 51:06Let us know your thoughts, by the way, in the YouTube
- 51:09comments, Discord or Spotify, Apple podcast comments.
- 51:12Who you think won between me and Josh once again, it's I sent dry
- 51:15and tip it and got back Kucherov and I also needed the help of
- 51:19Decor. So there's a bit of the context
- 51:20there, but I need to know hunting faceoffs.
- 51:22Yeah, there it is. But yeah, so I have no problem
- 51:25with holding him, training for him if you could get a
- 51:27reasonable deal done. But I think there are many
- 51:30fantasy hockey players out there who drafted defensemen for like
- 51:33with a much higher pick. And they may be willing to send
- 51:37them 4 ghosts. So that would be 1 if they don't
- 51:41listen to the podcast and know that Rod is an absolute loose
- 51:44cannon when it comes to fantasy hockey.
- 51:45And two, they see better offensive defensemen on a team
- 51:50that is scoring in the highest league.
- 51:51So that's really what you see when you look at Ghost Spear.
- 51:55You're very likely gonna need a package, a decent player to get
- 51:57some of these players, but I think it's doable.
- 52:00So where you could get in return Jake Sanderson, which was Joshua
- 52:03below, Michael Sergachev, which again, you're getting Sergachev
- 52:08plus you're not just searched because I think I'd actually
- 52:10rather goes as Baird one for one maybe or it's close in that
- 52:14trade. You.
- 52:15Know say Dang Jakey. OK, like it's it's close enough.
- 52:18It's close enough when I think that the points are gonna be
- 52:20similar, but I guess Archiv I I'd slightly prefer anyways.
- 52:23Lane Hudson, Mackenzie Blackwood.
- 52:26But I'm, I'm kind of iffy on that one.
- 52:28So let's just say insert Colorado Avalanche starting
- 52:31goalie here. And considering it's still up in
- 52:32the air, maybe Wedgewood has the edge, but you guys can shine
- 52:36some light on that. I'd rather Dora Fev, who has
- 52:41also been underperforming. So that means you'd rather
- 52:44produce over gossip Spare. Maybe.
- 52:48Send that, you'll take a while. We'll see.
- 52:52And Nico Hischer. OK, I mean, first of all, love
- 52:56this pic. You guys is very is is a clear,
- 53:00clear cell high. My opinion on gossip spare the
- 53:02past couple of years is anytime he starts being point per game,
- 53:05which happens a lot, but it's usually for shorter stretches.
- 53:08He's a cell high mainly because he has 0 back cats.
- 53:12He has very little peripheral coverage.
- 53:14Points wise. He's always solid.
- 53:15Like he he is a solid defensive, but he's also not a point per
- 53:18game. Right.
- 53:19So it's like Jackie said, I'm not I don't see dropping ghosts
- 53:23at any point in the season. I think he's going to be a
- 53:25season long hold. He's gonna be someone you're
- 53:26happy to have on your team unless you're in the need of
- 53:28Black Cats, in which case you're like, why is this defence
- 53:30opening up zero hits and zero blocks and barely any shots.
- 53:33But like points wise, he's going to be solid.
- 53:35I will say with the canes this year, they're 30 seconds.
- 53:38Last year their pay was 25th, so they're not gonna be this bad.
- 53:41But like I don't see them suddenly becoming one of the
- 53:43best place in the league either. But I definitely love this as a
- 53:47sell high. I like all your targets.
- 53:51I mean I think you'd have to send for the defensemen.
- 53:54You'd have to send gas to spare plus to to get them.
- 53:57But I think the fact that, yeah, yeah, I mean, I had no idea,
- 54:01felt this way. If we had done this episode
- 54:02earlier, I would have taken circuit from you for sure.
- 54:05But we did, and you watched the wrong miracle.
- 54:06And nice, huh? I know it's actually a big deal
- 54:09for me, but. Put off schedule too, right?
- 54:11But no, honestly, I take it back.
- 54:13I'd rather circuit Chev. And one quick thing.
- 54:16I never said I'd rather produce over Dorothea VI, rather over
- 54:20protests. It's gonna get more points.
- 54:21So I'd rather Dorothy over protests, and I'd rather they'd
- 54:25rather ghost over protests as well.
- 54:27Yeah, fair enough. But anyways, yeah, so I love
- 54:31your targets. I think if you do gossiper plus
- 54:33you can get them in a lot of leagues.
- 54:34In our league. I tried selling gossip for it to
- 54:36literally every team in the league and Jake was the only one
- 54:40who bit. But like to be honest, like our
- 54:41trade is it's not really a gossip spirit trade.
- 54:43It's pretty much a control for dry Sydal trade.
- 54:45So ghosts there was nowhere near the main piece of that that
- 54:48trade. Yeah, but but yeah, so it's
- 54:51really leaked dependent if like some leagues people are just
- 54:54wary of him, I guess because of the fact that he doesn't really
- 54:57get many back cats or like over the years he's had hot stretches
- 54:59and then cold stretches. But get what you can in terms of
- 55:02your cross position ones. Dwarf has a great one.
- 55:06I honestly like I think I could have pulled that off if Kevin
- 55:08didn't snake me on the on a door fee of trade and if I didn't
- 55:11make it. What do you mean snake you?
- 55:14Mean you didn't wake me you just got it instead of me that you're
- 55:18fine and then he sure, I think that's probably a bit of a
- 55:22stretch but I mean look if you do gossip bear plus for he sure
- 55:25he's just been terrible. So I think you could get it done
- 55:28and I would love that. Blackwood is an interesting one
- 55:30because I'm starting to think that like Wedgwood may be the
- 55:34one in black with the 1B. So I don't know how many stars
- 55:37he's going to get. The fact is if the situation
- 55:39gets cleared out, you're not gonna be able to pull off this
- 55:41trade. So you can only pull it off if
- 55:42you truly believe in Blackwood and like and like before, he
- 55:46kind of runs away with it. I don't think you can get it at
- 55:48this point. I think what corners are kind of
- 55:50believe that. What's the 1A?
- 55:51So I don't think you can get it. So Blackwood is like if you
- 55:55think Blackwood is going to be the starter, I think it's an
- 55:56unreal deal. I just think there's a lot of
- 55:58risk involved with that. But at the end of the day, also,
- 56:00like I don't think Ghost is like the biggest loss, even though he
- 56:04is like a solid like points guy for a defenseman.
- 56:06Um, if you want to take us, if you need to swing at goalies,
- 56:08you wanna make like a Hail Mary and all you end up and worst
- 56:11case scenario is you lost. Goes for like the one beyond
- 56:13Colorado. I still think it's not like
- 56:16that's not the worst. It's probably a bit of an L, but
- 56:18like it's not the worst. Worst case, you pick up Aleve
- 56:20Shanov or a Hampus Lindholm or a darn Radish and you stream them
- 56:23and then you just kind of make make shift that position
- 56:26afterwards. But the deployment is not super
- 56:29hard to replace technically, but he's producing at such a high
- 56:32rate right now to take advantage of it and see what you can get.
- 56:35I definitely like all these options better than Ghost.
- 56:37I think some of them are harder to attain than others.
- 56:40Like for me, if you're getting Jake Sanders and it's gonna take
- 56:43a lot more like it's gonna be like Ghost plus a significant
- 56:46plus or like. Totally get that, totally get
- 56:49that. But that's significant plus is
- 56:50way less than what the significant plus is probably
- 56:53going to be in a month from now, because at the time of this
- 56:55recording he is .48 points per game better than Sanderson.
- 56:59Yeah. 1.18 to .7 right? Like I don't know how big the
- 57:04plus actually has to be ha. Question would you?
- 57:08Would you? Would you if you're the owner of
- 57:13ghost? Would you saying ghost and
- 57:14protist for Jake Sanderson? In a second.
- 57:17Yeah, that's never getting accepted.
- 57:19Yeah, 100%. I think like like I said, I was
- 57:23trying to sell ghosts for the past like 2 weeks.
- 57:25So I tried and I started high and then like you started
- 57:28working my way down and then he kind of ended up being more of
- 57:30like a throw in an art trade. But but I think he's a great no,
- 57:35no, I know he's been great. Trust me, I've loved having him
- 57:37in the 19th round and I've just been like, wow, I can't believe
- 57:40I got this guy so late. Um, I will say another thing in
- 57:43terms of his ice time is Slaven's gonna come back at some
- 57:45point and that's gonna eat into his even strength this time a
- 57:49lot. So he has no risk at power play
- 57:52one, obviously, but that is something to note.
- 57:55His already nonexistent bad cats might become even more
- 57:58nonexistent. No, it's scary.
- 58:00It's scary, but I still think he's going to be the number one
- 58:03offensive. 100% which is crazy coming from Nikisha is coming to
- 58:08steal his job after he got scratched last game.
- 58:11Should I take my victory lap now or?
- 58:14Or not really because I ended up with with Gooseberry.
- 58:17That's been an interesting situation because I actually
- 58:20like, if you look at his back question, he's been really good,
- 58:22but. Yeah, other than getting
- 58:24scratched in the game before that, straight zeros, but before
- 58:26that he was good. Before that.
- 58:28Before. That he before he was bad, he
- 58:30was good. But yeah, anyways, that wraps it
- 58:32up. Thank you to everybody for
- 58:34listening to Week 8 Bullsh. We didn't say those types of
- 58:40people actually know they're they're good thing we're saying
- 58:42we're saying a swear word. Yeah, OK.
- 58:46Buy low, sell high. No shortened anything.
- 58:52OK, done. And Kevin?
- 58:56Kevin is still here. Yeah, I massive difficulties.
- 59:00My computer, just half of my computer died on me in the
- 59:03middle of this recording. So it's obviously perfect
- 59:05timing. Steer dedication that you you
- 59:08literally traveled through wildernesses and and walked 500
- 59:12miles like that song from the 80s and still delivered.
- 59:16Yourself 500 more, yeah. The timing could not have been
- 59:19better, but I missed that on not debating on you on produce for
- 59:22longer. So maybe we say we saved the
- 59:25listeners some valuable content. Maybe.
- 59:27Jake, he was saying. Exactly, exactly.
- 59:30We we framed it as the fantasy hockey gods stepping in to make
- 59:33sure that you didn't trash my protest stakes.
- 59:39That's what happened. I can't wait till the review of
- 59:40this in two weeks. It's gonna be so fun.
- 59:42But yes, thank you to everybody for listening.
