- 0:00Speaker 1: His job, make it all makes sense. He's marks alone
- 0:05Speaker 1: on sevent teno.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Well with us right now, the greatest living DJ in
- 0:12Speaker 2: the world, that legend, the man himself, Scott Shannon True
- 0:16Speaker 2: Oldies Channel. You can listen to him there and of
- 0:18Speaker 2: course you can see the great documentary about Z one
- 0:22Speaker 2: hundred from Worse to First. And he's on the line now,
- 0:25Speaker 2: Scott Shannon, how you doing.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Good morning, Mark, and a happy Saint Patrick's Day to
- 0:31Speaker 1: all of our Irish friends. Today should be a great day.
- 0:35Speaker 1: You're having a great show today and I'm happy to
- 0:38Speaker 1: be on it.
- 0:39Speaker 2: I forgot where did you do Saint Patrick's Day? Every year?
- 0:43Speaker 2: Used to have a.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Biggins had always had some kind of goofy remote broadcast.
- 0:47Speaker 1: When I was working with Todd we go out to
- 0:50Speaker 1: Jersey somewhere Long Island and have you know, she Leley
- 0:54Speaker 1: shaken good time.
- 0:57Speaker 2: So what'd you think of the oscars?
- 1:00Speaker 1: Well, they had some. You know, it's kind of weird
- 1:06Speaker 1: because nobody that you know, us lay people, we had
- 1:10Speaker 1: no idea what movies were, you know, what the who
- 1:13Speaker 1: the stars were, what movies were. We knew a couple
- 1:16Speaker 1: of them, but not that many. I mean, I thought
- 1:20Speaker 1: it was grab Michael Jordan was great for Sinners, and
- 1:25Speaker 1: I felt bad for Diane Warren. You know her, You've
- 1:28Speaker 1: known her for a long time, right, Yeah, she's she's
- 1:32Speaker 1: now a record holder, she had the loft, she's got
- 1:36Speaker 1: the longest Oscars losing streak. She's she's been nominated seventeen
- 1:42Speaker 1: times and hasn't won one award yet.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, listen, Susan Lucy had the same problem with
- 1:49Speaker 2: those stupid Emmys and she finally one.
- 1:51Speaker 1: So but she, Diane wrote, has written some of the
- 1:54Speaker 1: greatest songs ever in the Z forty era, and very
- 1:59Speaker 1: nicely due. So someday I think she'll get on there.
- 2:03Speaker 1: I think she'll win something. By the way, I got
- 2:05Speaker 1: to a shout out to my Pali Mazilli and his
- 2:09Speaker 1: wife Danny. They had moved to Florida a few years ago,
- 2:14Speaker 1: and today they're selling their house and they're moving back
- 2:19Speaker 1: to Westchester or Greenwich. I can't believe it. They're packing
- 2:23Speaker 1: right now.
- 2:23Speaker 2: And that's good to hear.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Peter. There.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Now, you go back and forth Florida, New York. But
- 2:28Speaker 2: there are people moving back. They've had enough of Florida,
- 2:31Speaker 2: aren't There are a few?
- 2:32Speaker 1: Right, Well, you don't see that many. It's it is
- 2:36Speaker 1: kind of weird. I mean, especially if if you don't
- 2:40Speaker 1: like snow. It's not a good ide. You know, they
- 2:43Speaker 1: don't want to move back there, and Lee just couldn't
- 2:47Speaker 1: take it anymore. Danny could stay, but Lee wants to
- 2:49Speaker 1: get the heck out of here. You know, he's going
- 2:51Speaker 1: into the Mets Hall of Fame very soon.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Yeah, so hey talk about our friend Ernie and ASTs
- 2:59Speaker 2: who we lost. Funerals later today for Ernie Anasts.
- 3:04Speaker 1: And you know, he lived for a long time at
- 3:08Speaker 1: a place you and I know pretty well, Westchester Country Club,
- 3:12Speaker 1: and he lived right off the South Course for quite
- 3:15Speaker 1: some time. He was such a gentleman and so nice
- 3:19Speaker 1: to everybody. I was. I I'd been on his show
- 3:23Speaker 1: several times when he had the Friday Show whatever he'd
- 3:30Speaker 1: called me, and I remember I had to do my
- 3:36Speaker 1: duty as a New York City morning man when he
- 3:40Speaker 1: had that little faux paw. Remember when he was talking
- 3:43Speaker 1: about the chicken. And the funny thing about it was
- 3:50Speaker 1: he didn't even know that he put the f in
- 3:55Speaker 1: where the p goes and he said it and that
- 3:59Speaker 1: he thought I was pretty fun. Well, it takes a
- 4:02Speaker 1: happy man he thought, he said, pluck a chicken, and
- 4:07Speaker 1: who who was the sidekick at the time. The funny
- 4:10Speaker 1: thing about it was a look on her face. She
- 4:12Speaker 1: froze and I mean there were so many memes offline
- 4:17Speaker 1: with her picture. And then he came back something. Now,
- 4:21Speaker 1: somebody told him after they went into a commercial break
- 4:24Speaker 1: that he had said that, and he said, oh my god,
- 4:27Speaker 1: you know how he is, he said, so he went
- 4:30Speaker 1: back on kind of apologize some somewhahow some a bad
- 4:35Speaker 1: word managed to get on the here. I don't know
- 4:37Speaker 1: where it came from. It was pretty funny, but that
- 4:42Speaker 1: was That was probably the only time I've ever seen him, uh,
- 4:46Speaker 1: you know, mix up and a little bit worried about
- 4:50Speaker 1: what happened. Pretty smooth operator, wasn't he.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Yeah. I remember he called me that night. He goes,
- 4:55Speaker 2: what do I do? I said, nothing, enjoy it, it'll go away.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Let it go. You know, he's he had such a
- 5:02Speaker 1: great track record. One mistake like that certainly didn't tarnish it. No.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Hey, you know back in the good old days, you know,
- 5:10Speaker 2: you come on the air every morning, you talk about
- 5:12Speaker 2: something on TV last night that we all saw. Everybody
- 5:15Speaker 2: saw it. You can't do that anymore. There's fifteen million
- 5:17Speaker 2: things on television streaming everything. There's nothing that everybody watches anymore.
- 5:23Speaker 1: You hit her on the head man. It's just even
- 5:27Speaker 1: though the series that my wife watches, you know, like
- 5:32Speaker 1: Yellows Stone and all that, you see, some people that's
- 5:35Speaker 1: their life. They love those Oh please, you know, I
- 5:38Speaker 1: would never dream of watching an episode without my husband
- 5:42Speaker 1: with me or my wife. But then you run into
- 5:45Speaker 1: people have no idea what the hell you're talking about.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Even American Idol, you know that used to be an
- 5:51Speaker 2: a whole nation would watch that, the whole country would
- 5:53Speaker 2: be voting, do you nowadays? So a lot of people
- 5:56Speaker 2: don't even know town anymore.
- 5:58Speaker 1: By the way, speaking of American I got a buddy
- 6:01Speaker 1: on there, a kid that I've followed his career for
- 6:03Speaker 1: I don't know, maybe ten years now. His name is
- 6:06Speaker 1: Jake Thistle. He was on last night. He did a
- 6:11Speaker 1: huet Lewis song called the Power of Love. Are you
- 6:13Speaker 1: aware of Jake's adventure? No, he's twenty one years old.
- 6:20Speaker 1: He's been singing since he was seven or eight years old,
- 6:23Speaker 1: doing gigs. I mean, the guy he knew he was
- 6:27Speaker 1: one of those people like you and me. We knew
- 6:29Speaker 1: what we wanted to do, and this guy wants to
- 6:32Speaker 1: be a singer, guitar player, songwriter. He's twenty one, he
- 6:37Speaker 1: graduated from Rutgers and he's on Idol and he's very popular.
- 6:43Speaker 1: The girls loved this guy. Remember we used to do this,
- 6:47Speaker 1: Todd and I used to do this Blightdale Children's Hospital
- 6:51Speaker 1: show every year.
- 6:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Well, on our last show that we did from there
- 6:57Speaker 1: back in well, Todd went with me. Then I was
- 6:59Speaker 1: over CBSF But back in twenty twenty two, Jake performed
- 7:04Speaker 1: for the kids of Blightdale and I've known him ever
- 7:07Speaker 1: since then. The guy's great. You gotta see him.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Yeah, So even nowadays, you know, you could be the
- 7:15Speaker 2: biggest star in music, number one, fifteen number one records
- 7:19Speaker 2: in a row, and half the way doesn't know who
- 7:21Speaker 2: you are anymore. People over forty don't know who you are.
- 7:23Speaker 2: It's a string now. I think.
- 7:29Speaker 1: I still try to stay up, but you know, obviously
- 7:33Speaker 1: that's not the kind of music I'm playing now. I
- 7:35Speaker 1: play sixties and seventies on my on my show. But nevertheless,
- 7:41Speaker 1: I have no clue to some of these people. I say,
- 7:43Speaker 1: who the heck is that I have no idea.
- 7:46Speaker 2: Well, if you want to listen to Scott chenn True
- 7:48Speaker 2: Oldies Channel, what's the best way to listen here in
- 7:50Speaker 2: New York?

- 8:13Speaker 1: to mention this to you. We've missed you the other night.
- 8:16Speaker 1: You usually show up at these events. There was a
- 8:20Speaker 1: big party at the Plaza Hotel, you know, for the
- 8:23Speaker 1: Broadcasting Foundation Awards. Galla and I saw your friend Cancer Madds.
- 8:29Speaker 1: He asked me where you were.
- 8:31Speaker 2: I didn't know about it. They keep it a secret.
- 8:32Speaker 2: They don't tell anybody.
- 8:34Speaker 1: I never had big awards. Steven A. Smith got up there.
- 8:38Speaker 1: He got a big award from ESPN. Judge Judy got
- 8:42Speaker 1: an award. She announced she's retiring and her son is
- 8:46Speaker 1: going to take over the show.
- 8:47Speaker 2: Oh my god, that doesn't sound good.
- 8:50Speaker 1: It looks so funny. You know, she's even shorter now
- 8:53Speaker 1: than she was before when she was on TV all
- 8:56Speaker 1: the time. And she's standing next to Steven H. Smith.
- 9:01Speaker 1: She looked like his little daughter.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Well, Scott Shannon, great stuff listening to him on the
