- 0:03Chaplain Terry: Good morning everyone.
- 0:04Chaplain Terry: Captain Terry Warner here.
- 0:06Chaplain Terry: We're gonna hit some more on our podcast with Tom Snow.
- 0:10Chaplain Terry: We left off at a pinch point uh the other day.
- 0:14Chaplain Terry: So we'll pick up part two, and without further ado, this is an interesting story, and I'm really impressed.
- 0:21Chaplain Terry: So, Tom, it's all yours.
- 0:24Tom Snow: Well, thank you.
- 0:24Tom Snow: Glad to have it.
- 0:25Tom Snow: Thanks for having me back.
- 0:27Chaplain Terry: You're welcome.
- 0:28Tom Snow: So uh last time we were had just talking about I had just heard the audible voice of God uh going through all this pain and trauma of dying of cancer and uh my mother dying, and he told me he loved me.
- 0:45Tom Snow: He said, Someday I'll provide my perfect mate for me.
- 0:48Tom Snow: Um the yes, the love was obvious.
- 0:53Tom Snow: He filled the room with love when he said it.
- 0:56Tom Snow: It was overwhelming.
- 0:58Tom Snow: The someday I'll provide a perfect mate for you made no sense since I was doomed to be six feet under.
- 1:04Tom Snow: I assume he hadn't got the memo.
- 1:06Tom Snow: But uh, you know, he's only the almighty God that spoke the world into being, but he probably didn't get the memo.
- 1:12Tom Snow: That was all I could think.
- 1:13Tom Snow: So um at that point, now I'm crying out with all my being, how do I reach this true and living God?
- 1:22Tom Snow: He's way out.
- 1:24Tom Snow: I always thought he was way out there in the universe, but now he came close and was so close.
- 1:29Tom Snow: Uh the Bible tells us he has every hair on our heads numbered.
- 1:35Tom Snow: And he does.
- 1:36Tom Snow: He's that close.
- 1:38Tom Snow: He's more close than we are.
- 1:39Tom Snow: When we comb our hair and we throw the the the hairs fall out and we throw them in the trash, he actually knows the number of each hair that fell in.
- 1:48Tom Snow: We we can't imagine a God that great.
- 1:51Tom Snow: So, but now my my whole being's crying out, how do I reach this this God, this loving God of the universe?
- 2:01Tom Snow: And I didn't know how.
- 2:03Tom Snow: About a month later, uh my brother Bruce, middle brother, was in college, and he came home to tell my father and I that he'd just been on an LSD trip.
- 2:15Tom Snow: Now, 1970, upper middle class family.
- 2:19Tom Snow: You don't joke about drugs, you don't talk about drugs.
- 2:23Tom Snow: My father disciplined with the belt and the fist, and he would have beat my brother within an inch of his life if he thought he was doing drugs.
- 2:34Tom Snow: Any kind of drug.
- 2:35Tom Snow: So Bruce comes home to tell us about being on an LSD trip.
- 2:40Tom Snow: It's not a joking matter, and he said that his friends had talked him into going on a trip.
- 2:45Tom Snow: He'd been on an LSD trip a year prior, had flashbacks for nine months, said he'd never do it again.
- 2:52Tom Snow: He was talked into it again.
- 2:55Tom Snow: And while he's on this trip, he's totally his mind's getting freaked out.
- 3:01Tom Snow: And while he's on the trip, he had heard the gospel.
- 3:06Tom Snow: He had gone to some churches with his friends that talked about how to come to the Lord.
- 3:12Tom Snow: He cried out to the Lord, he asked the Lord to save him.
- 3:15Tom Snow: The Lord instantly sobered him, instantly took him down off this trip.
- 3:19Tom Snow: He never had a flashback.
- 3:20Tom Snow: And he came home to tell us this news.
- 3:25Tom Snow: My father's jaw hits the ground, my jaw hits the ground.
- 3:29Tom Snow: You know, if my father wasn't so stunned, he probably would have beat my brother.
- 3:34Tom Snow: But he didn't.
- 3:36Tom Snow: Too stunned.
- 3:37Tom Snow: And um so for the next day and a half, I hound Bruce.
- 3:44Tom Snow: I you know, I'm I'm connecting dots.
- 3:47Tom Snow: God loves me, I felt that love.
- 3:50Tom Snow: You know, the only possible way out of all the guilt and pain I feel for and hate for myself for killing my mother, in my belief, you know.
- 3:58Tom Snow: And at this point, you know, it's like, how do I meet the Lord?
- 4:04Tom Snow: So he tells me, leads me through the scriptures, he, you know, shows me how to, you know, repent and ask the Lord to come into my life.
- 4:12Tom Snow: And I did.
- 4:13Tom Snow: And I did it over and over and over again for a day and a half.
- 4:16Tom Snow: Bruce had had the Star-Spangled Banner when the Lord saved him.
- 4:20Tom Snow: He comes instantly down off a trip, he's sober, the glory of God's around him, he's got star-spangled banner, and I got nothing.
- 4:30Tom Snow: And I'm like, you know, I don't understand.
- 4:34Tom Snow: And all of a sudden, the devil's whispering my ear, you know what?
- 4:38Tom Snow: This God stuff's a bunch of bull.
- 4:41Chaplain Terry: You didn't get anything.
- 4:43Tom Snow: No, I you didn't get anything, and and you know, Bruce got it, so what?
- 4:48Tom Snow: You know, he's kind of off the wall anyway, crazy.
- 4:50Tom Snow: And you know, I think it's all a bunch of bull.
- 4:54Tom Snow: He's the devil's just wind and all the time, whispering my ear.
- 4:57Tom Snow: And you know what?
- 4:58Tom Snow: You thought about a month ago you heard the audible voice of God.
- 5:02Tom Snow: You know what?
- 5:03Tom Snow: That was all in your head.
- 5:04Tom Snow: You made that up.
- 5:05Tom Snow: You were probably just a dream, you were probably asleep.
- 5:07Tom Snow: Now you think you were awake just sitting in your family room, but you know it was a dream.
- 5:12Tom Snow: And and and this is all a bunch of lies, and and God's not real or close, and you're going to, you know, you're gonna die here shortly, and your life's hell.
- 5:23Tom Snow: And and and nobody's gonna save you.
- 5:26Tom Snow: And I bought into his lies.
- 5:29Tom Snow: And all of a sudden, now at this point, now I only not just hate myself and full of guilt for thinking I killed my mother doing these experiments at asbestos, but now I now have a hate raging inside of me that the devil's lying, that God's not real.
- 5:47Tom Snow: So now I'm just like mad at God.
- 5:49Tom Snow: Okay, so the devil's winning big time, and he's just laughing his tail off, you know, spinning me in in circles.
- 5:58Tom Snow: And so at this point, I start to go totally haywire.
- 6:02Tom Snow: And for the next eight months, the devil was gonna win big time, and so I took and get a little sip of coffee.
- 6:15Chaplain Terry: We have a tendency to think that God talks to us like he talks to everybody, but he talks to each person individually.
- 6:23Tom Snow: Oh, he does, you know, and we can all hear the still small, quiet voice, yes, but we have to be careful because there's other voices we hear, and the biggest voice that has trained us is the devil.
- 6:34Tom Snow: Yes, you know, he's the God of this world, and we were raised under his tutelage.
- 6:40Tom Snow: So we were raised, you know, this is what's called the old man, the old nature, the flesh.
- 6:48Tom Snow: We were raised under the tutelage of the God of this world, and he taught us to run the maze.
- 6:55Tom Snow: He can poke us this way, we'll do something.
- 6:58Tom Snow: He'll poke us another way, we'll do something else.
- 7:00Tom Snow: He'll ring a bell, we'll do it again something.
- 7:03Tom Snow: He'll put a piece of cheese, we'll run after it.
- 7:06Tom Snow: He's been in control, and he taught us how to think.
- 7:10Tom Snow: And so he we're actually so well taught, all he has to do is just throw a little word in our in our ears, and we go, oh yeah, yeah, and we just jump right on to that nature.
- 7:20Chaplain Terry: Yeah, we have a tendency to not realize that it's the spirit that's saved.
- 7:25Chaplain Terry: The soul is renewed with renewing in your mind, you will remove and the carnal is your body, and uh the the carnal and the soul have a tough time grasping righteousness and being born again.
- 7:42Chaplain Terry: Sorry.
- 7:42Tom Snow: No, you're you're right.
- 7:43Tom Snow: We we weren't raised, we were raised totally opposite, right?
- 7:47Tom Snow: By the God of this world who has full of pride and ego, thought he was equal to God, got kicked out of heaven.
- 7:54Tom Snow: He's down here ruling over us.
- 7:57Tom Snow: He's the sadists of sadists.
- 7:59Tom Snow: If he had a choice, he would just torture us and destroy us instantly.
- 8:03Tom Snow: Well, very shortly, he'd a lot of torture.
- 8:06Tom Snow: But the father doesn't let him read Job.
- 8:10Tom Snow: You know, he puts a hedge, and this is the earth's a testing ground.
- 8:14Tom Snow: We all think, oh, you get saved, life's gonna be a bowl of cherries.
- 8:18Tom Snow: No, it's not, not at all.
- 8:20Tom Snow: You be around for a while, you know that it's going to hell and back, but guess what?
- 8:26Tom Snow: We get to walk with the true and living God as we walk through this hell and back.
- 8:30Tom Snow: The earth's a testing ground.
- 8:32Chaplain Terry: We arisen with him, right?
- 8:34Tom Snow: And as you said, you know, what you're talking about is sanctification, right?
- 8:38Tom Snow: Which is the process, it's a lifelong process of purifying, of us giving areas of our soul to the Lord and letting him take over.
- 8:50Tom Snow: That's being renewed in the spirit, that's putting on the new man, the new mind in Christ.
- 8:57Tom Snow: And so that's where it's a lifelong process.
- 9:00Tom Snow: Anybody who says I'm saved and sanctified, salvation is we were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit the day we asked him to come in.
- 9:08Tom Snow: I was sealed that day, I just didn't know it.
- 9:10Tom Snow: You know, you don't have to feel it.
- 9:11Tom Snow: You don't feel it all the time.
- 9:13Tom Snow: If you go on feelings, it's ridiculous.
- 9:15Tom Snow: Feelings is in our soul, where our heart and our mind is.
- 9:19Tom Snow: And anybody who says they're saved and sanctified, yeah, we're saved.
- 9:23Tom Snow: We got sealed with the Holy Spirit, but sanctified not at all.
- 9:27Tom Snow: That's the process.
- 9:28Tom Snow: It's a, and if anybody says they are, they're either dead or liars.
- 9:33Tom Snow: Because the only time you're going to be sanctified is when you die, and then you come before the Lord, and he will evaluate, you know, our souls, how we did we yield to the true and living God.
- 9:45Tom Snow: Not did we walk a perfect life.
- 9:47Tom Snow: I I and I'm I'm energy, I'm a tangent guy, so I'll just throw this in.
- 9:51Tom Snow: But I hate fake religiosity, I hate fake spirituality.
- 9:56Tom Snow: We are not to act all religious.
- 9:59Tom Snow: God doesn't respond isn't impressed with we put on a Sunday smile, but on the inside we're going, you know, live in hell.
- 10:06Chaplain Terry: He wants to hold our hands like this, and holding our hands like this, and looking holding, yeah, I know.
- 10:13Tom Snow: Yeah, we we don't impress God because he knows the heart, he knows the truth.
- 10:17Tom Snow: And if we yield to him, we learn just to yield to him and let his righteousness come through.
- 10:24Tom Snow: It's his righteousness that's in Christ, not us.
- 10:27Tom Snow: So back to the story.
- 10:29Tom Snow: So here I am.
- 10:30Tom Snow: I'm now buying into well, God's abandoned you, so now you should just be mad at him.
- 10:36Tom Snow: And I'm like listening to that voice going, yeah, I just should be mad, you know, because now I'm gonna die and I don't know where I'm going, and and and the salvation thing didn't work.
- 10:46Tom Snow: And I probably was just, I no, I heard the audible voice of God.
- 10:50Tom Snow: It shook the whole room I was in.
- 10:52Tom Snow: I was wide awake.
- 10:52Tom Snow: It was the middle of the afternoon.
- 10:54Tom Snow: I just got home from school, but you know what?
- 10:57Tom Snow: I believe the lie of the devil.
- 10:59Tom Snow: I'll bet you what it was just something I made up.
- 11:02Tom Snow: So I'm buying into his baloney sandwich.
- 11:05Tom Snow: By the way, I have a 12-year-old daughter, and so in our house, when we talk about BS, we call it baloney sandwich.
- 11:12Tom Snow: So you all know what a BS is, but you know in my house with a 12-year-old daughter, it's baloney sandwich.
- 11:20Tom Snow: So he was feeding me baloney sandwiches, and I'm buying it all day long.
- 11:24Tom Snow: And so uh at this point, I I had to, I just went crazy.
- 11:32Tom Snow: I I started drinking, I became the second biggest drinker in my high school.
- 11:38Tom Snow: Uh, I had talked my father into getting me a little motorcycle uh because I wanted the wind blowing in my face.
- 11:45Tom Snow: Uh I knew that to get that, I would have to get a job.
- 11:51Tom Snow: That's a rule in the family, and I believe in that anyway.
- 11:53Tom Snow: I don't give kids, I don't give my kids anything.
- 11:56Tom Snow: You know, you earn it, you work it for it.
- 11:58Tom Snow: And so um I to do that though, I'd have to get a job in 1970.
- 12:07Tom Snow: The only thing available to me was food handling.
- 12:10Tom Snow: Uh, and to do that, I'd have to get a food handler's permit.
- 12:14Tom Snow: That meant go to the county clinic, get an X-ray, and a blood test.
- 12:20Tom Snow: I knew now that tumor that had started the size of a walnut was now probably the size of a softball, and I knew it's going to show up on the x-ray, and then the blood test, they could probably do a deeper dive into the blood test to find out what's going on.
- 12:38Tom Snow: Cancer's not a communicable disease, but they would now know.
- 12:43Tom Snow: Well, they granted me the food handler's permit.
- 12:46Tom Snow: I got my job, I got my motorcycle.
- 12:49Tom Snow: I came walking home one day uh from school, and as I come walking home, yeah, this is about a week after I got my permit, my father's car was home in the drive, unusual, middle of the day, April uh day.
- 13:09Tom Snow: Come and as I came walking at the door, I knew because I knew because I knew, just like God can let us know, the Holy Spirit.
- 13:17Tom Snow: And I knew my father'd gotten the letter talk telling about the cancer.
- 13:21Tom Snow: So I knew my secret was going to be out.
- 13:24Tom Snow: Now I figured my father's a hard rock.
- 13:26Tom Snow: Uh, you know, he doesn't show love.
- 13:29Tom Snow: My mother's the only one who showed love.
- 13:31Tom Snow: But I thought, well, maybe he could figuratively put his arm around me.
- 13:34Tom Snow: I I know I don't deserve medical attention.
- 13:37Tom Snow: He could maybe do that.
- 13:38Tom Snow: It might be a nice gesture.
- 13:40Tom Snow: I don't deserve it.
- 13:41Tom Snow: You know, because I have the guilt of the world that I doing these experiments had killed my mother and caused the cancer to me.
- 13:49Tom Snow: So I don't deserve it.
- 13:50Tom Snow: But I came walking in and I knew because I knew, and as I came walking in the door, he's got a fire in the fireplace.
- 13:57Tom Snow: 80-some degree April day.
- 13:59Tom Snow: You don't need a fire, he loves fires, but you know, that's a nighttime thing, and it wasn't cold.
- 14:04Tom Snow: And he came walking in, and as soon as I walk in the door, he looks like the cat that swallowed the canary.
- 14:10Tom Snow: And he flips this letter into the fire.
- 14:14Tom Snow: And I got really sarcastic.
- 14:17Tom Snow: And I said, What you doing?
- 14:20Tom Snow: Nothing, nothing.
- 14:22Tom Snow: Well, no, no, why why why are you doing a fire in the middle of the day?
- 14:25Tom Snow: I'm just burning trash.
- 14:26Tom Snow: We have trash pickup, you don't need that.
- 14:29Tom Snow: Uh, yeah, I'm just burning trash.
- 14:31Tom Snow: Well, why are you doing that?
- 14:33Tom Snow: And that looked like a letter you threw in there.
- 14:35Tom Snow: Was that a letter you threw in the fire?
- 14:38Tom Snow: Oh no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 14:41Tom Snow: Also, I'm realizing, okay, I've known about this for about six or seven months.
- 14:47Tom Snow: He's just found out that his son, youngest of three, is going to die, just like his wife, my mother, six or seven months prior.
- 14:58Tom Snow: I'm sure it's a little bit of too much information.
- 15:00Tom Snow: Let me just give him a break, you know, and give him a little time to assimilate what he's just learned.
- 15:07Tom Snow: Well, I come home about a week later, and I come walking in the door, my father's home again early, and there's another car in the drive, unusual, but I thought maybe it's business.
- 15:19Tom Snow: Come walking in and he calls me into the living room.
- 15:22Tom Snow: He says, Tommy, come in.
- 15:23Tom Snow: And he has these two insurance agents sitting in the living room.
- 15:29Tom Snow: And I'm what?
- 15:30Tom Snow: And so, long story short, he takes out a multi-million dollar life insurance policy on me.
- 15:39Tom Snow: And I'm going, what in the sorry if I cuss, what in the hell?
- 15:44Tom Snow: What in the hell are you doing?
- 15:47Tom Snow: You know, it's like no, I know you're a hard rock.
- 15:52Tom Snow: I didn't think you were that callous.
- 15:54Tom Snow: You want to cash in on my death?
- 15:58Tom Snow: He didn't take an insurance policy out on my two older brothers, just me.
- 16:03Tom Snow: Golly gee, wonder why.
- 16:05Tom Snow: He hadn't told anybody about you know me dying.
- 16:10Tom Snow: He hadn't told me.
- 16:11Tom Snow: And I'm thinking the back of my mind, I've known for six months, and you just found out now you think you know it all, and you're gonna do this to me.
- 16:20Tom Snow: And now hate and anger and rage and unforgiveness are welling up in me against him, and the devil's having a heyday, and I'm just full of hate and wrath and unforgiveness.
- 16:33Tom Snow: And so now I'm gonna go.
- 16:37Tom Snow: You think I'm gonna spire out before?
- 16:39Tom Snow: Now I'm spiraling out of control.
- 16:41Tom Snow: And I sold everything I owned and everything he owned that I could get my hands on, and I bought an old chopper in box, in boxes, an old I'm chopper, old Hartley in boxes, old 49 Hartley, and I built it into a chopper.
- 16:56Tom Snow: And I started writing with the Hell's Angels, and now I'm not only the second biggest drinker in school, but now I'm a scuzzball that nobody would want to meet.
- 17:07Tom Snow: My people in my high school are like backing off from this long-haired, hippie biker gang, crazy.
- 17:14Tom Snow: They don't like stay away from this person, and I don't care because my life is hell, and I'm going to hell, and I'm dying, and I know I'm dying.
- 17:26Tom Snow: And so, why do I care what people think?
- 17:29Tom Snow: And so I, as I say, I just I'm spiraling.
- 17:34Tom Snow: I would drink a fifth of whiskey in two hours and then ride home on my motorcycle, and I was proud that I could do that.
- 17:44Tom Snow: And then I would be riding along on a four-lane highway, and I would be starting in the rightmost lane, all of a sudden wake up.
- 17:52Tom Snow: I was past the left, the fourth lane to the left and ready to go in the ditch.
- 17:56Tom Snow: And then all of a sudden, I'd just feel like I was shoved back over to the right lane, and then I'd wake up later and I was cross four lanes, about ready to go in the ditch, and get shoved back.
- 18:07Tom Snow: There's a lot of badly bruised angels that I appreciate that were looking out for me.
- 18:13Tom Snow: It's wonderful to have a praying mother and have a praying relative, and it's wonderful to have a God who loves us.
- 18:20Tom Snow: Yes, and and he was giving me a lot of chances.
- 18:23Tom Snow: So I'm I'm spiring, I've you know, believed every lie the devil told me.
- 18:30Tom Snow: He's winning, and I'm just I'm angry.
- 18:35Tom Snow: And I I formulated a plan, and my plan was this as soon as I got that motorcycle running good enough, where it would leave the city, Columbus, Ohio.
- 18:46Tom Snow: And by the way, it wouldn't.
- 18:49Tom Snow: Every time I got near the city's edge, it'd break.
- 18:51Tom Snow: It's like an angel with a sword touching it, going, uh, there you go.
- 18:55Tom Snow: And I'd have to limp it home and get and rebuild it.
- 18:59Tom Snow: I'd rebuild my motorcycle every week.
- 19:01Tom Snow: And I had formulated a plan that as soon as it was running right, I was gonna blackmail my father.
- 19:10Tom Snow: I was gonna say, I know about the insurance fraud, and I want X thousands of dollars, and I'm gonna do my last hurrah, and I'm gonna drive my motorcycle across country, you know, and you can come pick up the pieces later, but this is my last hurrah.
- 19:27Tom Snow: And that was what I was gonna tell him if the motorcycle road would stay running.
- 19:33Tom Snow: But my plan, true plan, was I was going to ride my motorcycle from Columbus to the Grand Canyon, and then I was writing it off.
- 19:45Tom Snow: I was going to choose my own death, and I it would be my last hurrah, that last moments of flying through the air till I was smithering on the Grand Canyon floor.
- 20:00Tom Snow: But my other part of my plan, devious, was to write a letter, tuck it inside, pin it inside my clothes, so that when they picked up the pieces at the bottom, my father's insurance fraud would be found out.
- 20:13Tom Snow: He'd lose the whole payout, he'd lose the money he had given me, which would really bother him since he's a Jew.
- 20:21Tom Snow: And then I was hoping, beyond hope, he'd go to jail.
- 20:27Tom Snow: So that was how much pain I'm living in, how much trauma I was in, how much he put me in, you know.
- 20:34Tom Snow: And I wanted payback.
- 20:37Tom Snow: At the end of eight months, couldn't get that motorcycle running good enough, always an angel with the sword touching it.
- 20:44Tom Snow: Break again, couldn't even make around the block sometimes, bust again.
- 20:49Tom Snow: I had to be replacing head gaskets every week.
- 20:52Tom Snow: And it's an old 49 Harley, what do you want?
- 20:55Tom Snow: But but um so one night I was sitting around at the end of this eight months with my biker buddy gang.
- 21:04Tom Snow: We were sitting around at night, late at night, drinking bottle after bottle of cheap wine, nothing unusual about that.
- 21:11Tom Snow: And I was a 16-year-old teenage alcoholic, suicidal teenage.
- 21:17Tom Snow: Uh and and I just was sitting there and we had discussions.
- 21:23Tom Snow: We always had discussions, but this night it became a spiritual discussion.
- 21:29Tom Snow: And I thought, you know what, I'm gonna tell them about Bruce, and they're gonna scoff.
- 21:33Tom Snow: And I'm glad because I'm gonna scoff right with them.
- 21:36Tom Snow: So I told them what happened to Bruce, and they didn't scoff.
- 21:39Tom Snow: And they actually listened, and I were like, okay, I'm thinking to myself, well, I'm gonna tell you what happened to me, and then you'll really scoff.
- 21:48Tom Snow: So I told them, I asked the Lord to come into my life, and nothing happened.
- 21:52Tom Snow: Bruce got the Star Spangled Banner and nothing happened, and they didn't scoff.
- 21:57Tom Snow: But in the moment that I said nothing happened, I knew that wasn't true.
- 22:04Tom Snow: God broke through from the innermost being, John 7, rivers of living water from our innermost being will come flowing out through our whole being.
- 22:17Tom Snow: And this he spoke of the Spirit, and the Spirit of God was breaking out, and all of a sudden, he was flushing through my soul, and I had all those feelings and that same love and presence of God that I'd felt the day he'd talked to me.
- 22:33Tom Snow: And the devil's lies were lies, he's the father of lies, and all of a sudden I was instantly sobered, like Bruce was.
- 22:43Tom Snow: And all of a sudden, I looked around and I'm like, what am I doing here with these guys?
- 22:49Tom Snow: So I said, I gotta leave.
- 22:51Tom Snow: And I drove home uh that night, and I wasn't drunk, so I didn't have to get pushed back and forth by the angels, and I my life changed, and all of a sudden I knew where I was going.
- 23:03Tom Snow: I knew what my mother knew, why she wasn't afraid of dying.
- 23:09Tom Snow: She was going home to be with the true living God, and now I knew what I wasn't, in spite of all my horrible things I was, he loved me.
- 23:17Tom Snow: And I just, my life changed.
- 23:20Tom Snow: This is 1970, and all of a sudden, I, from this scuzz ball biker guy that everybody in my high school was afraid of, now was looking at this person who became a Jesus freak, long-haired Jesus freak, and I'm just talking about the Lord and only living for the true and living God.
- 23:39Tom Snow: And they're like, What in the world?
- 23:41Tom Snow: But once again, I don't care.
- 23:43Tom Snow: And I'm just having the time of my life because now I know where I'm going.
- 23:48Tom Snow: I knew I was dying.
- 23:50Tom Snow: That was a given.
- 23:51Tom Snow: Now I know where I'm going.
- 23:53Tom Snow: I get to go home with Papa God.
- 23:56Tom Snow: And I he led me to a local little church, and I was eating up his word day in and day out, studying the word, you know, good teaching, early charismatic days, charismatic move, 1968 to 1977.
- 24:11Tom Snow: I was there from 7071 to 77, and seeing the power of God and and and witnessing things that only people that I talked to that came from the Pentecostal original, like Azusa Street, you know, they were there was an old couple that was in our church, and they said, This is the same.
- 24:30Tom Snow: This is what we saw.
- 24:32Tom Snow: The move of God.
- 24:33Tom Snow: And it was amazing, mind-blowing, crazy beautiful.
- 24:38Tom Snow: We would we joked that we went to church six days a week and twice on Sunday, and it was pretty much true.
- 24:45Tom Snow: Sure, there were two services on Sunday and a midweek service.
- 24:48Tom Snow: There were home groups just like Axe, meeting in homes around the city.
- 24:54Tom Snow: We couldn't get enough.
- 24:55Tom Snow: We would go anywhere and we would worship for hours and think you were there for minutes.
- 25:01Tom Snow: The flow of God was so massive and amazing.
- 25:04Tom Snow: What we think today, even with the best worship services today, and we have our song leaders and we have our worship and we build up with some praise and get into worship, and then we think we've hit the pinnacle.
- 25:17Tom Snow: That's like this much out of this much.
- 25:21Chaplain Terry: Yes.
- 25:22Tom Snow: And we get set, we saddle, we'll settle for this because we think that's good or good enough.
- 25:28Tom Snow: In that day, we had no song leaders, we had no worship teams.
- 25:34Tom Snow: We had the Spirit of God flowing from one side to the other.
- 25:38Tom Snow: It would, song would break out here, it would break out there, it would flow in waves.
- 25:43Tom Snow: So amazing.
- 25:44Tom Snow: Uh, the preacher hardly ever got to, the pastor ever hardly ever got to preach because he was always prepared, but he loved the Lord too much, and he'd stand up and go, Does anybody have the word of the Lord today?
- 25:56Tom Snow: Meaning, right then in that moment, the fresh word, not something you prepared.
- 26:00Tom Snow: And there was always two or three.
- 26:02Tom Snow: What do you know?
- 26:03Tom Snow: Just like Corinthians, there were two or three that would have the word that day.
- 26:07Tom Snow: We had everything.
- 26:08Tom Snow: We, you know, the gifts were all flowing, it was amazing.
- 26:12Tom Snow: And it was nothing to see people healed all the time.
- 26:17Tom Snow: Like we had five-year-olds praying for adults, watching fall out and be totally healed.
- 26:22Tom Snow: Like the power of God has nothing to do with us humans.
- 26:26Tom Snow: We just have to get out of God's way.
- 26:29Tom Snow: If we got out of his way and quit putting constraints on him, and we would do that.
- 26:38Chaplain Terry: Our actions and our words and saying something we're doing, so we we quench despair.
- 26:45Tom Snow: We do all the time.
- 26:46Chaplain Terry: Speaking of the church services, I I I attended a church back in the 70s in the character.
- 26:52Chaplain Terry: We sat on the floor on the carpet.
- 26:55Chaplain Terry: Our communion was one big loaf of bread and one big cup of wine.
- 26:59Chaplain Terry: And they passed it around.
- 27:03Chaplain Terry: I mean, it was the the spirit of the Lord would come in and we'd be slain in the spirit.
- 27:08Chaplain Terry: Just okay, it was neat.
- 27:10Chaplain Terry: It was really, really neat.
- 27:12Chaplain Terry: And I'd like to see that come back.
- 27:15Tom Snow: We're gonna he he wants to do the next great move of God.
- 27:19Tom Snow: Yeah.
- 27:19Tom Snow: I wrote about that in my first book.
- 27:21Tom Snow: It's called You know The Daily Stand, and the subtitle is a spiritual warfare manual for today and the next upcoming great move of God.
- 27:30Tom Snow: God does want his next upcoming move.
- 27:33Tom Snow: It is on it's on the horizon, but he's kind of waiting to get his church put in order.
- 27:42Tom Snow: You know, we've had a little taste.
- 27:44Tom Snow: We had Asbury College, Texas AM, OSU, where God broke out and there was like these things, and people were there for weeks, you know, with the presence of God and the Spirit of God.
- 27:57Tom Snow: Once again, what we're used to in our churches is this much.
- 28:01Tom Snow: What they got was this much, but God wants to take us a whole lot more.
- 28:08Chaplain Terry: We're too influenced by the world and media and and outside forces, and so we squirt we squelched the Spirit of God again.
- 28:17Tom Snow: We do, and then my second book, Set the Captives Free, has a lot to do with all the false belief systems and the the disunity that is in the churches that the devil's gotten away with and won over and over again.
- 28:34Tom Snow: I'll get to that later, but you know that's that's our trouble.
- 28:38Tom Snow: And until we learn to get out of the way, and leaders have to be undergirders.
- 28:43Tom Snow: They have all leaders have some leaders, many leaders have a position of power and they want to be over the church, and we're and the church peons, us believers are at the bottom.
- 28:55Tom Snow: It's totally inverted and wrong.
- 28:58Tom Snow: I'll get to that later.
- 28:59Tom Snow: But the power of God is Jesus said, I came to serve, not to be served.
- 29:06Tom Snow: He says, The least, the greatest of you will be the least, the least will be the greatest.
- 29:11Tom Snow: That's not how a lot of leaders do, and that's why a lot of churches are under false belief systems, under demons over nations.
- 29:22Tom Snow: We'll get to that later.
- 29:26Chaplain Terry: The Christian social link.
- 29:28Tom Snow: Yeah.
- 29:29Chaplain Terry: So we're speaking of your books, and uh we're about to wind down on time here.
- 29:35Chaplain Terry: Speaking of your books, where are they available?
- 29:37Chaplain Terry: And just I I went to Tom Snow at Amazon.
- 29:41Chaplain Terry: And where are some other places that we can find your books?
- 29:45Tom Snow: Well, you can find them on every major platform.
- 29:48Tom Snow: Uh Amazon's the easiest.
- 29:50Tom Snow: You can look for um there's more than one author named Tom Snow.
- 29:56Tom Snow: I've only written two books, so uh I found that out after I put my Books out there, but there's the daily, you know, in your show notes.
- 30:04Tom Snow: Uh, you know, I'll I'll give you links where you can go out to Amazon and find the daily stand and set the captives free.
- 30:11Tom Snow: Um, I'll give you my website, just to be clear.com.
- 30:17Tom Snow: It's the number two in there.
- 30:18Tom Snow: I can give you my Substack, which is just to be clear number one.
- 30:24Tom Snow: Substack.com, which talks about my posts and podcasts if people want to follow that.
- 30:31Tom Snow: I can give you my Facebook and Instagram, that's about as far as I go in social media.
- 30:38Tom Snow: But you know, the the thing that, and in case anybody wants to know, uh I didn't die.
- 30:47Tom Snow: Since I'm here 55 years later, it might become obvious to people.
- 30:53Tom Snow: Uh and just to finish that story, one night when I was riding home on my motorcycle after having one of these meetings, we used to have them all the time.
- 31:03Tom Snow: We've seen people healed, but I never felt like I was to run up to the altar to go ask to be healed.
- 31:09Tom Snow: And I don't like to do things except what the what God says to do, what the Spirit is saying.
- 31:14Tom Snow: I don't want to run to the altar.
- 31:16Tom Snow: Now, if I stub my toe, I'm here at home, I say, Lord, please heal it.
- 31:20Tom Snow: I'm not a masochist, but I was happy because to live is Christ, to die is gain.
- 31:27Tom Snow: I was getting ready to go be home with Papa God.
- 31:29Tom Snow: His presence was so enormous in the charismatic move.
- 31:32Tom Snow: And so I was riding home one night and on my motorcycle, and the Lord, we you know, you learn to hear the still, small, quiet voice.
- 31:41Tom Snow: And I studied eating the word like like you would be at a buffet and you can't stop eating.
- 31:46Tom Snow: And so I was riding home on motorcycle, and the Lord said to me, He says, Do you see in Isaiah where I said, by his stripes you are healed?
- 31:58Tom Snow: And I said, Uh-huh.
- 32:00Tom Snow: And he says, Do you see in First Peter where I said, by his wounds you were healed?
- 32:08Tom Snow: I went, uh-huh.
- 32:09Tom Snow: And the light bulbs clicking on.
- 32:11Tom Snow: Our current future were past.
- 32:14Tom Snow: He said, Isaiah was looking forward to the cross.
- 32:19Tom Snow: Peter was looking back to the cross.
- 32:22Tom Snow: I completed everything at the cross.
- 32:26Tom Snow: He said, Would you like that healing?
- 32:28Tom Snow: I'm kind of ready to go.
- 32:30Tom Snow: He'll be home with Papa God.
- 32:31Tom Snow: So I really don't care.
- 32:33Tom Snow: So I was really nonchalant.
- 32:34Tom Snow: I just like, eh, sure, whatever.
- 32:37Tom Snow: And in that moment, I felt a change.
- 32:40Tom Snow: But within 24 hours, the rock hard tumor that had started the size of a walnut, now growing larger than a football, hard as a rock, filling my abdomen, melted, dissipated, and was gone within 24 hours.
- 33:02Chaplain Terry: That's a loving God, I tell you.
- 33:05Tom Snow: Absolutely.
- 33:06Chaplain Terry: The Lord had me on healings and stuff, walk around to the back of the cross and look at the stripes and the wound.
- 33:13Chaplain Terry: And that was an eye-opener for me.
- 33:17Chaplain Terry: Well, if you had anything to leave with us that you uh uh we don't have time to go through everything, but any other winding down thoughts that you'd like to leave us with today?
- 33:29Tom Snow: Yeah.
- 33:30Tom Snow: That walking with the true and living God is the best thing you can do, it is the most fulfilling part of your life.
- 33:38Tom Snow: I've owned my software company for 45 years and ran it.
- 33:42Tom Snow: That is fulfilling, but not that fulfilling.
- 33:45Tom Snow: It's a job.
- 33:46Tom Snow: I have an ex-wife and four kids.
- 33:50Tom Snow: I have a new wife and a 12-year-old daughter.
- 33:54Tom Snow: Family is wonderful.
- 33:56Tom Snow: Love my family.
- 33:57Tom Snow: Okay, but that's not the same.
- 34:00Tom Snow: The deepest fulfillment you'll ever have in your life is to walk with the true and living God.
- 34:06Tom Snow: And that we can have every day, every moment of every day.
- 34:10Tom Snow: But it will take learning how to yield.
- 34:13Tom Snow: And the first book will teach you that you know, you think spiritual warfare, it's it's not a the whole book is not about how we just do that.
- 34:24Tom Snow: That's that's like things we do.
- 34:27Tom Snow: It's the whole book is to teach us how to walk with the true and living God and walk in the anointing and let that life flow through us.
- 34:34Tom Snow: And if we do, then we'll do as Jesus did.
- 34:37Tom Snow: We don't have to go around and look for ministry.
- 34:40Tom Snow: He walked around and he said, I only do what the I see the Father doing.
- 34:45Tom Snow: I only say what I hear the Father saying.
- 34:48Tom Snow: He didn't go looking for ministry.
- 34:50Tom Snow: I hear all these people, you know, your ministry and this ministry.
- 34:54Tom Snow: I don't have a ministry.
- 34:56Tom Snow: I just want to walk with the true and living God.
- 34:58Tom Snow: I want his life to flow through.
- 35:00Tom Snow: If that, you know, while Jesus walking around, did he happen to uh heal a lot of people?
- 35:06Tom Snow: Yeah.
- 35:07Tom Snow: Did he happen to cast out a lot of demons?
- 35:09Tom Snow: Yeah.
- 35:09Tom Snow: Did he teach?
- 35:10Tom Snow: Yes.
- 35:11Tom Snow: Was he speaking the anointing of the truth of God?
- 35:15Tom Snow: Yes.
- 35:15Tom Snow: But he didn't try to be in ministry.
- 35:17Tom Snow: He was not calling himself a name.
- 35:19Tom Snow: He wasn't an apostle, he didn't call himself a prophet, he didn't call himself a teacher.
- 35:23Tom Snow: People called him rabbi, Jewish word meaning teacher.
- 35:26Tom Snow: He simply walked with the true living God.
- 35:29Tom Snow: You and I all can have that.
- 35:32Tom Snow: And the beauty of that is he doesn't want a religious person in us.
- 35:38Tom Snow: He doesn't want fake spiritual.
- 35:39Tom Snow: When we become real, let the Spirit of God flow.
- 35:42Tom Snow: We don't have to be perfect, He has to be perfect in us.
- 35:46Tom Snow: So you have that opportunity.
- 35:50Tom Snow: Will you have trials and hard times?
- 35:52Tom Snow: Will you feel like you went to hell and back?
- 35:55Tom Snow: Yep, sure will.
- 35:56Tom Snow: So what?
- 35:58Tom Snow: So what?
- 36:00Tom Snow: Walking with the true and living God is worth every moment.
- 36:06Chaplain Terry: I guess probably the biggest obstacle I ever had was keeping my mouth shut and learning what the Bible Jesus said instead of what I say.
- 36:15Chaplain Terry: And we go around saying what we want.
- 36:18Chaplain Terry: The Bible says you can have what you say.
- 36:20Chaplain Terry: We go around saying what we have.
- 36:22Chaplain Terry: And that's that has been a problem.
- 36:25Chaplain Terry: Once I learned to keep my mouth shut, get into the word and ask myself what does the word say?
- 36:30Chaplain Terry: What does the word say?
- 36:32Chaplain Terry: Then he got he was able to form me into his image and likeness.
- 36:36Chaplain Terry: Am I there?
- 36:37Chaplain Terry: Gosh, no.
- 36:38Chaplain Terry: But I'm getting there.
- 36:40Chaplain Terry: And when he comes back, uh I will be ready because he will have made me ready uh forming me.
- 36:46Chaplain Terry: Well, I've enjoyed this today.
- 36:48Chaplain Terry: I really I really have enjoyed it, and I appreciate you coming on the show.
- 36:53Chaplain Terry: Uh I guess I about wind up.
- 36:57Chaplain Terry: Let me just you want to close it out with a prayer?
- 37:00Tom Snow: Sure.
- 37:01Chaplain Terry: Okay.
- 37:02Tom Snow: Papa God, we love you.
- 37:04Tom Snow: We appreciate you.
- 37:06Tom Snow: Your word is true.
- 37:09Tom Snow: Your word is true above every man and everything.
- 37:13Tom Snow: Let your word go forth.
- 37:16Tom Snow: Use your word to reach and touch individuals watching this this day.
- 37:22Tom Snow: And may they hear your call, believer or non-believer, to yield to you into a greater yielding, and just allow you to flow.
- 37:38Tom Snow: And we ask, Holy Spirit, that you do flow and that you reach each of us where our needs are, but not just so we get healed, that's minor, so that we can walk with the true and living God.
- 37:50Tom Snow: And we ask this, and we agree in Christ.
- 37:55Chaplain Terry: In Jesus' name, I agree.
- 37:57Chaplain Terry: Amen.
- 37:58Chaplain Terry: Thank you.
