- 0:00Speaker 1: I want to talk to men for a minute. You know,
- 0:05Speaker 1: we live in a society today where we live in
- 0:09Speaker 1: a country that's supposed to pride itself on free speech.
- 0:14Speaker 1: But I must warn you that's not the case. Free
- 0:19Speaker 1: speech has been taken away. You can't say what you
- 0:22Speaker 1: want to say no more because everybody's offended now, everybody,
- 0:31Speaker 1: and this world we live in now has new normals
- 0:35Speaker 1: that they've created that didn't exist for me back in
- 0:39Speaker 1: the day. I'm old school. I'm sixty eight years old,
- 0:41Speaker 1: so what's normal now was not normal then. But I
- 0:46Speaker 1: want to talk to fathers for a minute. I want
- 0:49Speaker 1: to talk to men out there who are raising sons.
- 0:53Speaker 1: And let me tell you something. It's nothing wrong with
- 0:58Speaker 1: the way your father raised you. So if you're taking
- 1:02Speaker 1: the same way your father raised you and applying it
- 1:04Speaker 1: to your sons, it ain't nothing wrong with that. You
- 1:09Speaker 1: ain't got to fix something that ain't broke. But you
- 1:13Speaker 1: got to be careful with these new normals out here,
- 1:16Speaker 1: because they will make you think that it's broke when
- 1:18Speaker 1: it's really not. The way my relationship was with my
- 1:22Speaker 1: father it was fine, man, it was fine. Oh he
- 1:25Speaker 1: was tough, Oh he was tough. He was hard on
- 1:30Speaker 1: me at times, but I look back on it and
- 1:34Speaker 1: I realized what he was preparing me for. He was
- 1:36Speaker 1: preparing me for this life that I was gonna have
- 1:39Speaker 1: as a black man, that it was going to be hard.
- 1:42Speaker 1: So you might as well start practicing now. And I'm
- 1:45Speaker 1: not fitish sugarcoat this thing for you or soften it
- 1:47Speaker 1: for you because they Fitnah, give it to you now.
- 1:51Speaker 1: I can give it to you here at the house,
- 1:53Speaker 1: or I can let the police give it to you
- 1:54Speaker 1: out there on the street. I prefer giving it to
- 1:56Speaker 1: you here at the house. That was my father the
- 1:58Speaker 1: way raised me. If you have sons out there and
- 2:01Speaker 1: your father raised you with tough love and it worked
- 2:04Speaker 1: and you turn out to be just fine, hold on
- 2:06Speaker 1: to that and don't let these new norms sway you.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Because these new norms, man, they're really not working. They're
- 2:12Speaker 1: really not working. It's absolutely okay to be old school.
- 2:18Speaker 1: It's absolutely okay to teach your son principles. It's actually
- 2:23Speaker 1: okay to pull out a chair for a woman. It's
- 2:26Speaker 1: absolutely okay to open the door for a woman. It's
- 2:29Speaker 1: absolutely okay to be required to open up a car
- 2:32Speaker 1: door and put her in and make sure she in
- 2:34Speaker 1: that before you get in the car. It's your duty
- 2:37Speaker 1: to pump the gas instead of her. It's okay to
- 2:39Speaker 1: teach that. It's okay to teach that to your sons. Man,
- 2:46Speaker 1: don't let these new norms get in your way, because
- 2:49Speaker 1: these new norms is hurting people. Man, It's okay to
- 2:55Speaker 1: take care of a woman. It really is. It's it's
- 3:00Speaker 1: an honor. It's been my honor to be a provider. Now.
- 3:05Speaker 1: I ain't good at a lot of stuff. My wife
- 3:08Speaker 1: then told me that, Steve, you ain't good at a
- 3:09Speaker 1: lot of stuff. But when it comes to it taking
- 3:12Speaker 1: care of your family. I don't know nobody better. But
- 3:15Speaker 1: listen to me. Taking care of your family don't mean
- 3:18Speaker 1: you got a lot of money. It means you taking
- 3:20Speaker 1: care of your family. And this is what I'm praying.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Tribute to the men out there that's taking care of
- 3:24Speaker 1: their business the right way, the way your father did
- 3:27Speaker 1: or the way your father. Some men are good at
- 3:29Speaker 1: being fathers and dads and husbands now because their father
- 3:33Speaker 1: was absent. He taught you what not to do. So
- 3:38Speaker 1: hats off to them men too. But listen to me,
- 3:44Speaker 1: that is a way to teach manhood, and if you
- 3:48Speaker 1: know the way, teach it. Don't run no slack on them,
- 3:53Speaker 1: don't give them no breaks, don't cut no corners, because
- 3:55Speaker 1: I got news for you. Life ain't fin to do that.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Life fin to be hard, man, And if you're raising
- 4:02Speaker 1: black boys, it's finna be hard. And I don't see
- 4:07Speaker 1: it get no better because Maga is in control. Maga
- 4:13Speaker 1: is going about the business of making they America the
- 4:17Speaker 1: version of the miracle that they thought was great. Ain't
- 4:20Speaker 1: no more DEI, ain't no more programs, ain't no more
- 4:24Speaker 1: low costs, Ain't no more helping the down trodden. They
- 4:29Speaker 1: just doing it. Man. Racism is riding. They done freed
- 4:34Speaker 1: all the proud boys. They let all the convicted feelings
- 4:38Speaker 1: from January sixth out. Man of y'all watching what's happening,
- 4:45Speaker 1: Stay on top of your sons and ladies. If you're single, mother,
- 4:50Speaker 1: find them a male role model. Find one, because they're
- 4:55Speaker 1: gonna need that. Hats off to all the men out
- 4:59Speaker 1: there being men. Hats off to all the men that's
- 5:02Speaker 1: raising your sons like men. Hats off to all you
- 5:05Speaker 1: men who had a father and doing it the same way. Man.
- 5:09Speaker 1: We need more of that because these new norms. They
- 5:13Speaker 1: ain't cool, man, they ain't cool. I'm just go and
- 5:18Speaker 1: enjoy the rest of my life as a man and
- 5:20Speaker 1: pray to God. I get a strength to raise my
- 5:22Speaker 1: sons the same way you do the same brothers. Appreciate
