Latest / Sri Aurobindo Studies / Obtaining a Clear Perception and Understanding of Life Purpose and Significance
Transcript
- 0:00If we examine closely our mental state, when we undertake
- 0:05activities, with which we are familiar, experienced and
- 0:09educated, we see that our minds are sharp.
- 0:12Our perceptions are detailed. And our understanding is
- 0:17precise, we find it easiest to achieve this status with
- 0:22external things, although some with the developed intellect can
- 0:26apply this to abstract matter, such as mathematical.
- 0:30Malai or complex games such as chess.
- 0:35Contrast this, with the way we generally experience our sense
- 0:38of our mission in life are past development and the trend of
- 0:42that development into the future.
- 0:45For most of us, we get vague intimations some who practice
- 0:50past life regression or various forms of hypnosis in an attempt
- 0:54to unlock the hidden areas of our subconscious being except
- 0:59that they are getting clear insights into their past lives.
- 1:03In some cases, of course, there is a very clear perception.
- 1:08But in others we find again some vague intimations and possibly
- 1:13the working of unconscious suggestion or desire to create
- 1:17these past lives in the image of what.
- 1:19We want them to be, what is missing is the kind of sharp
- 1:25clear, distinct perception that we obtain.
- 1:28When we look at specific fields of endeavor in our surface lives
- 1:34How then can we actually understand the significance and
- 1:37purpose of Our Lives? If all we generally obtain are
- 1:41these amorphous, feelings or intimations?
- 1:45It is possible to enter into a status of Consciousness where
- 1:49when actually sees clearly why one has been born into this life
- 1:54and into these circumstances and one understands what one has to
- 1:58do? This comes about when the soul
- 2:02the psychic being comes forward and takes over active guidance
- 2:06of the life from in front, not just as intimations from behind.
- 2:12Sometimes an event occurs which dramatically provides an opening
- 2:16to the deeper being dannion, Brinkley reported that he was
- 2:20struck by lightning, was clinically dead for 28 minutes
- 2:25and when he returned to life, he was aware of the purpose of his
- 2:29life and his mission, which he described in his
- 2:32autobiographical work Saved By the Light near-death.
- 2:37Experiences seem to frequently bring an opening for people to
- 2:41understand their Lives in a deeper and more precise Manner
- 2:46and in some cases, they reorient.
- 2:48The entire direction that the Des life had taken heretofore
- 2:54Intense spiritual experiences may have a similar result.
- 2:58The transformative impact of such an experience is
- 3:01Illustrated in the story in the Bible about Saul on the road to
- 3:05Damascus. And his subsequent conversion to
- 3:08become Paul, the Apostle of Jesus He recognized his mission
- 3:13in life, through that experience, such events
- 3:17underlie, many of the stories of Awakening to the deeper sense of
- 3:21life, that permeate Human Experience Through the Ages.
- 3:26The mother writes quote, there is such a great difference
- 3:30between feeling vaguely, having a hesitant impression of
- 3:34something of a force, a movement, an impulse and
- 3:39attraction of something, which drives you in life.
- 3:43It is still so vague so uncertain, it is hazy.
- 3:47There is such a difference between this and having a Clear
- 3:51Vision and exact perception, a total understanding of the
- 3:56meaning of one's life. And only then does one begin to
- 4:00see things as they are not before.
- 4:05Only then can one follow the thread of one's Destiny.
- 4:08And clearly see the goal in the way to reach it.
- 4:11But that happens only through successive.
- 4:14Inner Awakenings like doors opening suddenly on New
- 4:18Horizons, truly a new birth, into a truer deeper more lasting
- 4:25Consciousness, until then you live in a cloud gropingly, under
- 4:30the weight of a destiny which had times crushes.
- 4:33You gives you the feeling of having been made in a certain
- 4:37way and being unable to do anything about it.
- 4:41You are under the burden of an existence, which weighs you down
- 4:45makes you crawl on the ground instead of rising above and
- 4:49seeing all the threads, The Guiding threads, the threads,
- 4:53which bind different things into a single movement of
- 4:56progression. Towards a realization that grows
- 4:59clear When my spring up out of this half Consciousness, which
- 5:05is usually considered quite natural, this is your normal way
- 5:09of being and you did not even draw back from it.
- 5:12Sufficiently to be able to see and wonder at this in certitude,
- 5:17this lack of precision. While on the contrary to know
- 5:23that one is seeking and to seek consciously deliberately
- 5:27steadfastly and methodically this indeed is the exceptional
- 5:32almost abnormal condition and yet only in this way.
- 5:37Does one begin to truly live and quote reference SRI aurobindo in
- 5:43the mother growing within the psychology of inner development
