- 0:15Speaker 1: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:19Speaker 3: I watched the whole lot of State game less. I'm
- 0:20Speaker 3: telling the guys like I haven't watched the full college
- 0:22Speaker 3: football game in a long time, like a lot of.
- 0:25Speaker 4: I've always all growns up. He watched a college kids.
- 0:27Speaker 4: That's stataboo kid. I loved watching plays right, Not because
- 0:31Speaker 4: I think he's gonna do anything in the NFL.
- 0:33Speaker 2: So why don't you like it?
- 0:34Speaker 4: Because he's he's kind of a.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Dick Balden like that, because he'd be the guy yelling
- 0:39Speaker 2: at Paul. Come on first of all.
- 0:42Speaker 4: To suggest that I was a lineman. I'm going to
- 0:44Speaker 4: pretend I didn't hear that.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Now, a cruller that may not be a don't. I
- 0:47Speaker 2: like a color donut.
- 0:48Speaker 4: Has to be round, just a different shape, right, I mean, like.
- 0:51Speaker 3: I say, round clers, like a French crawler.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Right, like the French and it has Yeah, those are
- 0:55Speaker 2: don't French. But I'm talking about the stick, the glazed stick.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Those are sticks.
- 0:59Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:00Speaker 6: Nason is Arth and Aaron, who are you to Sharoncord
- 1:05Speaker 6: to their core that towns By yesterday, like I don't
- 1:08Speaker 6: care like going some real pizza.
- 1:10Speaker 3: I like ice cream and college football, and he just
- 1:11Speaker 3: won't leave me alone.
- 1:12Speaker 7: This is Patriots Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website for
- 1:17Speaker 7: deals by a Toyota dot com.
- 1:21Speaker 2: All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday here
- 1:24Speaker 2: at Jilette Stadium, and you had a lot to talk about.
- 1:27Speaker 2: We got reports coming out about coaches leaving, coaches perhaps
- 1:31Speaker 2: coming in, support staff coming in. We have four divisional
- 1:37Speaker 2: games that we have to wrap up. We have a
- 1:39Speaker 2: national championship game we can kind of talk a little
- 1:42Speaker 2: bit about. Although I turned it off at halftimes, I.
- 1:44Speaker 4: Didn't see an.
- 1:46Speaker 3: Well, I watched the first three drives and then I think,
- 1:48Speaker 3: I think I know how it is about to.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Go exactly this one team has a chance and the
- 1:52Speaker 2: other dozen. But we'll get into all of that, and
- 1:56Speaker 2: of course your emails and calls. Eight five to five
- 1:58Speaker 2: Pass five hundred is the TPX Outline podcast at Patriots
- 2:01Speaker 2: dot com is how you email us? So do you
- 2:04Speaker 2: guys have a good weekend? Great great week football? Filled?
- 2:07Speaker 2: Loved it? Yeah, yeah, Evan Paul deuced myself.
- 2:10Speaker 4: Matt Nabooth, I enjoyed the divisional round. Yeah, yeah, I
- 2:12Speaker 4: thought there was some good intensity. I thought they had
- 2:14Speaker 4: a championship like field.
- 2:16Speaker 3: Yeah, it's good to see some teams just trading blows,
- 2:18Speaker 3: going back and forth, some mistakes, and obviously some controversies.
- 2:21Speaker 3: But I just think it's the best football weekend of
- 2:23Speaker 3: the of the of the year.
- 2:25Speaker 2: For me, it was the worst of all possible outcomes.
- 2:27Speaker 4: Now, I know that you have your your hang ups,
- 2:29Speaker 4: and I don't think you're wrong. I think you're probably
- 2:31Speaker 4: like most Patriots fans, right, you just have all your
- 2:35Speaker 4: bad worlds of collected.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Those teams who I most want to lose the most
- 2:38Speaker 2: one the Chiefs in the Bills and then the detroit
- 2:42Speaker 2: who I thought was my best chance of beating either
- 2:44Speaker 2: of them. If they get to the Super Bowl, they're out.
- 2:47Speaker 2: So it looks like to me, the whoever emerges out
- 2:50Speaker 2: of the AFC is going to be favored right in
- 2:53Speaker 2: the Super Bowl, I mean over the Eagles or Commanders.
- 2:56Speaker 4: I would think, certainly Buffalo, but I would think Kansas
- 2:59Speaker 4: City too.
- 3:00Speaker 3: But let's see how healthy horse is, you know.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's true, he's kind of dramatized.
- 3:07Speaker 3: He's kind of an X factor for me. I don't
- 3:09Speaker 3: trust him yet. I don't trust him, like I know
- 3:11Speaker 3: he's very good, but.
- 3:11Speaker 4: I just he he has not approached what he did
- 3:15Speaker 4: two years ago in that Super Bowl season as a
- 3:19Speaker 4: as a passer. Since this is two full years now,
- 3:21Speaker 4: he just hasn't looked the same.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Yeah, but you know.
- 3:24Speaker 4: I probably lead off with some of the Patriots.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Yeah, let's let's start. Let's talk about some Patriots stuff.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Did we last week? Did we talk about the And again,
- 3:33Speaker 2: these are all reports. Nothing has been made official by
- 3:35Speaker 2: the team. There hasn't been any press releases or announcements
- 3:38Speaker 2: or anything to confirm any of these reports. But I
- 3:42Speaker 2: think most of these aren't pretty good. You know, uh,
- 3:46Speaker 2: standing the people who left last week? Did we talk
- 3:49Speaker 2: about that? Like, uh uh, Tyler Hughes, Scott Peters. Scott Peters,
- 3:55Speaker 2: he's going. He's already been hired by his team, right,
- 3:58Speaker 2: so we kind of know he's gone.
- 4:00Speaker 4: I didn't know any of this last week, So I
- 4:01Speaker 4: don't know if we talk.
- 4:02Speaker 2: So who's got the rundown? Because I certainly will screw
- 4:05Speaker 2: it up if I go.
- 4:06Speaker 6: Yeah, a lot of the offensive coaches have have moved
- 4:10Speaker 6: on already or are moving on at this point. I
- 4:13Speaker 6: don't think there's any defensive guys yet that have reportedly
- 4:17Speaker 6: been moved on. But the really the only two guys
- 4:22Speaker 6: in the offense side of the ball that we know
- 4:24Speaker 6: are still in limbo or Van Pell and TC McCartney.
- 4:28Speaker 6: The rest of the position coaches mcnell Sorryduce, Scott Peters,
- 4:34Speaker 6: Tyler Hughes, those guys are Taylor Embrey are reporting.
- 4:39Speaker 4: The assistant offensive line coach Mike Mike.
- 4:42Speaker 6: McCarthy, Yeah, he's Cincinnati.
- 4:46Speaker 4: We had two assistant offensive line coaches. Deuce your your
- 4:49Speaker 4: quizical look is just warranted. I had to double check
- 4:52Speaker 4: it because I saw that Peters and McCarthy I think
- 4:56Speaker 4: went to Cincinnati, correct, they both went together, and it
- 4:59Speaker 4: said assistant line coach Mike mccarth and was like, I
- 5:01Speaker 4: got that, cool little guy. So I checked the media guide.
- 5:04Speaker 4: We had two assistant offensive line coaches last year.
- 5:07Speaker 3: It's also well Coogler I mentioned I think he's quote
- 5:10Speaker 3: coaching down at the shrine ball is that correct? And
- 5:13Speaker 3: then also the outside linebackers coach Drew Wilkins will be
- 5:16Speaker 3: the defensive coordinator down there. So those guys are a
- 5:18Speaker 3: little bit in limbo though, so I don't think we're
- 5:20Speaker 3: sure if they're sticking around or not.
- 5:22Speaker 2: So So one of the questions I had all season
- 5:26Speaker 2: was is Scott Peters a good offensive line coach? I
- 5:28Speaker 2: don't know? Is he just a victim of the talent?
- 5:32Speaker 2: Is could he have made the talent that they had better?
- 5:36Speaker 2: I just didn't have an answer to that. I still
- 5:38Speaker 2: don't because he's gone, but he immediately got another job. Yeah,
- 5:42Speaker 2: so like and in the division that he came from
- 5:45Speaker 2: when he was here, So somebody's thinking, yeah.
- 5:48Speaker 4: He's the Callahan connection. I think, yeah, helped him there. Yeah,
- 5:53Speaker 4: but sure, yeah, I think you're definitely still worth wondering about.
- 5:58Speaker 2: But here's what I'll say the Patriots. We did get
- 6:01Speaker 2: word that the Patriots are retaining Jeremy Springer as a
- 6:05Speaker 2: special teams coordinator, So it's not like they're not telling
- 6:08Speaker 2: anybody anything. They did decide at least one coach we're
- 6:11Speaker 2: going to keep, and I guess if Peters was that good,
- 6:13Speaker 2: they would have done the same. I don't know, but
- 6:16Speaker 2: maybe they're letting on offensive coordinator when they finally hire.
- 6:20Speaker 2: When make those decisions.
- 6:21Speaker 4: I think that's probably right there. And I think Mike
- 6:23Speaker 4: Reese early in the weekend or maybe even Friday, had
- 6:27Speaker 4: a tweet that listed all of these offensive coaches were
- 6:31Speaker 4: not going to be back.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:32Speaker 6: The only one I didn't mention that also is in
- 6:34Speaker 6: coming back is Taekwon Underwood, the assistant wide writers coach.
- 6:38Speaker 6: But the rest of them are all the ones that.
- 6:39Speaker 2: We mentioned about Troy Brown. Now I know he wasn't
- 6:44Speaker 2: Beckley an offensive coach. We haven't heard anything about him. No,
- 6:48Speaker 2: we don't know.
- 6:49Speaker 6: But yeah, when it comes to offensive line coach, I
- 6:51Speaker 6: definitely think you're tied to the coordinator because you know,
- 6:54Speaker 6: the way you want to run the ball, the way
- 6:56Speaker 6: you want to pass protect, all that ties together with
- 6:58Speaker 6: the design of the So the best pairings, I would say,
- 7:03Speaker 6: are our coordinator in offensive line coach, like working in
- 7:07Speaker 6: tandem to get everything blocked up properly the way they
- 7:10Speaker 6: want to run.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Yeah, so it makes sense get the coordinators and then
- 7:13Speaker 2: they'll fill out the rest of the staff. There was
- 7:16Speaker 2: some news this morning that Rabel asked permission to Miami
- 7:20Speaker 2: to interview their linebackers coach for our defensive coordinator. Yeah,
- 7:25Speaker 2: and we know anything about this guy.
- 7:28Speaker 3: Yeah, gill them for a while and linebackers coach, and yeah,
- 7:32Speaker 3: it's one of the names we brought up in the
- 7:34Speaker 3: right up that we did for potential guys that they
- 7:36Speaker 3: might bring in for defensive coordinators. So he's got a
- 7:38Speaker 3: number of guys around the league that were linebackers coach
- 7:41Speaker 3: for him or guys that have been with him for
- 7:42Speaker 3: a while, you know. I know, shoot, I'm blanking on
- 7:46Speaker 3: the Giants guy that was with him in Tennessee, Shane Bowen,
- 7:49Speaker 3: you know, followed a similar trajectory, was with Rabel for
- 7:51Speaker 3: a while, you know, and eventually send it to it
- 7:54Speaker 3: to defensive coordinator. I think he spent twenty twenty wasn't
- 7:56Speaker 3: officially under title, but then twenty one twenty two was
- 7:59Speaker 3: with him. So it's SEMs like, you know, he's got
- 8:01Speaker 3: a methodology of working with guys and developing them into coordinators.
- 8:04Speaker 3: So I think that the Miami guy would would fit
- 8:06Speaker 3: that would fit that mold as well.
- 8:08Speaker 2: So how many people do we know that they've interviewed
- 8:11Speaker 2: for DC so far?
- 8:12Speaker 4: I don't know that they's the first one. That's the
- 8:15Speaker 4: first one we've heard they requested that in Terrell Williams
- 8:18Speaker 4: from Detroit. It's another one who is a defensive line
- 8:21Speaker 4: coach slash run game coordinator, which is kind of odd
- 8:25Speaker 4: on the defense. Defensive the defensive run game.
- 8:28Speaker 6: They do that now more to kind of give guys promotions.
- 8:32Speaker 4: But those are the two guys that I knew that
- 8:33Speaker 4: they requested. Well, not no, because you're right, none of
- 8:37Speaker 4: this is official, but according to various reports, an offensive coordinator.
- 8:43Speaker 4: There were also two guys.
- 8:44Speaker 3: That's Brady. They've said they have interviewed kind of Friday
- 8:48Speaker 3: news dump there.
- 8:49Speaker 4: Yeah, Marcus Brady was one, and he was in Sandy
- 8:54Speaker 4: the Chargers last San Diego, the lack spent some time
- 8:58Speaker 4: in Indianapolis. And who's the one? Why can I not
- 9:01Speaker 4: think of the other one?
- 9:02Speaker 6: Marcus Brady and Thomas Brown?
- 9:04Speaker 4: Thomas Brown, Yeah, the Thomas Brown affair.
- 9:08Speaker 2: And you know, we should mention that the Bears immediately
- 9:12Speaker 2: hired Ben Johnson as soon as the Lions are out,
- 9:15Speaker 2: so you know, of course, but the Patriots are the
- 9:17Speaker 2: only ones that mocked the Rooney rule.
- 9:19Speaker 4: But any I would say that the Bears mocked the
- 9:20Speaker 4: Rooney rule with the they all do with the Eddie
- 9:23Speaker 4: George interview, right, that's mocking it.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Yeah, they all do. It's it's just better.
- 9:27Speaker 4: Call it what it is. It's a thing.
- 9:30Speaker 2: They mocked it, it is, but we're the ones that
- 9:32Speaker 2: get tagged with it because and nobody everybody hates the Patriots.
- 9:36Speaker 4: Everybody was pretty critical that Eddie George interview, and I
- 9:41Speaker 4: think they should be. I think it's not in the
- 9:43Speaker 4: spirit of the rule.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, So Ben Johnson over to the Bears makes sense,
- 9:49Speaker 2: you know, Yeah, I wonder how the Lions feel about that,
- 9:55Speaker 2: going in their divisions.
- 9:57Speaker 4: Looking like Aaron Glenn to the Jets. Yeah, although that's artificial,
- 10:01Speaker 4: but they're saying they're meeting with him again today and
- 10:05Speaker 4: he has sort of his hand pick GM.
- 10:09Speaker 2: Did you hear the story Did you hear on the
- 10:10Speaker 2: story that Aaron Glenn had about Parcels when Glenn was
- 10:14Speaker 2: with the Jets. No real interesting stories. So you know
- 10:19Speaker 2: Glenn obviously he played with the Jets and there were
- 10:21Speaker 2: these rumors that the Jets were thinking about trading them.
- 10:24Speaker 2: So Aaron Glenn said, you know, being who I am,
- 10:26Speaker 2: I'm gonna talk to somebody. I'm not gonna let just
- 10:29Speaker 2: let it go. So he walks into Parcels office and
- 10:32Speaker 2: he goes. You know, what's all this talk about me
- 10:34Speaker 2: being traded. I've heard it from everybody, but not from you.
- 10:37Speaker 2: So Parcels says, come in, close the door, sit out.
- 10:41Speaker 2: Parcells says, listen to me. Everybody has a price. My
- 10:45Speaker 2: wife has a price, and if the price is good enough,
- 10:47Speaker 2: she's gone. That goes for everybody. And he said he
- 10:53Speaker 2: understood and appreciated the candor. It's just a business. It
- 10:57Speaker 2: goes for anybody. And he said, my relationship ship with
- 11:00Speaker 2: him never changed, but I understood where he's coming from.
- 11:03Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that's a hallmark of a good coach,
- 11:05Speaker 3: you know. I mean I think Bill got a lot
- 11:07Speaker 3: of that credit to where he's just going to tell
- 11:09Speaker 3: you the truth. I think that's what a lot of
- 11:10Speaker 3: players want to know, good or bad. Just be honest
- 11:12Speaker 3: with me and be up front. So yeah, I mean,
- 11:15Speaker 3: Vabel kind of has that vibe too, where he's just
- 11:16Speaker 3: going to tell you how it is, Like, you know,
- 11:18Speaker 3: everyone knows how this business works. Now, a lot of
- 11:20Speaker 3: tough decisions to be made. Yeah, but that's a tough
- 11:22Speaker 3: line about your wife.
- 11:23Speaker 5: Man.
- 11:23Speaker 3: I wouldn't I would know.
- 11:25Speaker 2: But he's also the one, you know, wifeels you know,
- 11:28Speaker 2: the beginning of the season, he was I'll tell my wife,
- 11:31Speaker 2: I'll see you in January, hopefully February.
- 11:35Speaker 4: He's a tough, tough guy.
- 11:37Speaker 2: You know what you're signing up for carda because my wife,
- 11:41Speaker 2: he's the one that said my wife doesn't know if
- 11:43Speaker 2: it's puffed or stuff. So oh yeah, yeah, well that.
- 11:51Speaker 4: My wife, Judy Parsons.
- 11:54Speaker 6: Yea.
- 11:54Speaker 2: Anyway, so that's kind of the where we are. Where
- 11:58Speaker 2: we're at.
- 12:00Speaker 4: Do we leave anything out? I feel like there is.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Oh. It's been reported that Vrabel is bringing back his
- 12:07Speaker 2: assistant from the Titans who's now with the Rams, John
- 12:10Speaker 2: Stryker Stretch Stretch and from the report, this guy's in
- 12:16Speaker 2: a combination of Ernie Adams from a strategic type of
- 12:20Speaker 2: standpoint and bears Nigerian from a support standpoint. So he's
- 12:25Speaker 2: going to be the guy who, you know, really kind
- 12:27Speaker 2: of is the chief of staff for Vrabel as well
- 12:30Speaker 2: as supposedly the guy who's going to be in his
- 12:33Speaker 2: ear about take the time out, you know all that stuff.
- 12:38Speaker 2: He works from the sideline.
- 12:39Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 12:39Speaker 6: So he's the Rams game management Coordinator, which is becoming
- 12:43Speaker 6: a lot more popular that teams have somebody with that
- 12:46Speaker 6: title on staff calling. It's becoming a lot a lot
- 12:49Speaker 6: more popular, especially for guys like McVeigh who call plays
- 12:54Speaker 6: that might be their mind might be elsewhere in terms
- 12:58Speaker 6: of calling the plays. So they have a guy that's like, hey, Sean,
- 13:01Speaker 6: we got to call it.
- 13:02Speaker 2: So Paul, you you you shouldn't be that person, but
- 13:06Speaker 2: you should start a training school for those people.
- 13:08Speaker 4: Why shouldn't I be that person?
- 13:10Speaker 2: Because you can make more money teaching them to do it.
- 13:12Speaker 2: So you think I could? Oh yeah, everybody pays you
- 13:16Speaker 2: as much of a call for someone that. Think about
- 13:19Speaker 2: all these throwing camps for quarterbacks.
- 13:22Speaker 6: And all this Stuffgible Benefit Academy.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Yeah, no, you be the Tom House of training in
- 13:29Speaker 2: game decisions.
- 13:30Speaker 4: I don't really think there's much of a call for that,
- 13:32Speaker 4: Oh I do. I don't think people grow up thinking,
- 13:35Speaker 4: you know what I really want to be in life.
- 13:37Speaker 4: I want to be a time a game management coordinator.
- 13:39Speaker 4: That's I want to.
- 13:40Speaker 2: But think about all the coaches that screw up. I know.
- 13:47Speaker 4: A lot of people grow up wanting to be coaches.
- 13:49Speaker 4: They don't want to be the guy who tells the
- 13:50Speaker 4: coach thing.
- 13:52Speaker 2: It's called the cottage industry. It's called adapting to times,
- 13:55Speaker 2: and you take advantage of what's going on. You flatter we.
- 13:58Speaker 3: We could put Paul on the board right now. Out
- 14:00Speaker 3: from the four games from this weekend, I think he
- 14:01Speaker 3: could run down every single.
- 14:05Speaker 4: You guys aren't going to believe this. I didn't have
- 14:07Speaker 4: any real egregious problems with any of the.
- 14:10Speaker 6: Because because Stretch was in la Is taking care of right, So.
- 14:14Speaker 4: I didn't really have, you know, like they were even
- 14:17Speaker 4: they were a little critical at the end of the
- 14:19Speaker 4: Rams Philly game, and I think the Rams handled it fine.
- 14:22Speaker 4: It was going to be fourth down. They needed to
- 14:24Speaker 4: get the first down. If they got it, they were
- 14:26Speaker 4: going to have plenty.
- 14:26Speaker 3: Of Yeah, they thought they were, you know, like themselves.
- 14:29Speaker 4: After the sack, they didn't rush to the line, and
- 14:32Speaker 4: nor should they have. I think they had plenty of time.
- 14:34Speaker 4: The more important thing was getting a play that they
- 14:37Speaker 4: liked for that fourth and thirteen, and obviously Slay made
- 14:41Speaker 4: a good play on Pooka on that I could have
- 14:44Speaker 4: been could have been a little bit of a hold,
- 14:46Speaker 4: but I'm glad they didn't call it. I don't like
- 14:47Speaker 4: to see games decided on.
- 14:48Speaker 2: What did you think of Brady's performance? I thought he
- 14:51Speaker 2: went down before he was better.
- 14:53Speaker 4: He ain't got it, Mike, I ain't got The only
- 14:56Speaker 4: thing I liked from him was he he was fairly
- 15:00Speaker 4: critical of Aaron Glenn at the half, and then he
- 15:05Speaker 4: sort of made fun of himself after that. He was
- 15:08Speaker 4: critical of Glenn's over aggressiveness all night.
- 15:11Speaker 2: Yep.
- 15:12Speaker 4: And then they came out the first drive of the
- 15:14Speaker 4: second half and they kept blitzing the way they had
- 15:16Speaker 4: the whole first half, and they actually got to stop,
- 15:18Speaker 4: and Brady goes shows you what I know, Like he
- 15:20Speaker 4: was self deprecating. No, you're right, Tom, Like it's clear
- 15:23Speaker 4: that they're just picking this defense apart and they keep
- 15:26Speaker 4: doing the same thing you talk about. I was very
- 15:28Speaker 4: critical about our own defense during the course of the
- 15:30Speaker 4: season last year for not making adjustments. I'll tell you
- 15:34Speaker 4: what I got. I got from Aaron Glenn. I got
- 15:36Speaker 4: Matt Patricia vibes from the Super Bowl when I knew
- 15:38Speaker 4: the Lions were going to hire him, and I'd be like,
- 15:41Speaker 4: I'd take a step back and pause after this performance
- 15:45Speaker 4: in such a big spot for him not to do
- 15:48Speaker 4: anything differently throughout that game, I thought Tom was onto something,
- 15:52Speaker 4: but then he let it go. He never really stuck
- 15:54Speaker 4: with it.
- 15:55Speaker 3: Yeah, you mean like from the twenty seven seen Super
- 15:57Speaker 3: Bowl where they just got rolled by the Eagles hit.
- 15:59Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, and then you know, he's getting your
- 16:01Speaker 4: job out of this and this is this is this
- 16:04Speaker 4: is a champion, as Fred said at the time, is
- 16:06Speaker 4: this the man?
- 16:07Speaker 2: Is this.
- 16:09Speaker 4: We're entrusting our organization too. We just get up like
- 16:11Speaker 4: forty points to the Eagles to a backup quarterback.
- 16:14Speaker 2: So it sounds like that surprised you a little bit.
- 16:16Speaker 2: No adjustments, Spike Glenn, anything else surprised you over the weekend.
- 16:19Speaker 3: That Lion's performance And yeah, yeah, I mean well, and
- 16:22Speaker 3: I'd say the commanders too. Just I mean, I just
- 16:23Speaker 3: that still impressed with Jayden Daniels.
- 16:25Speaker 5: What a job.
- 16:26Speaker 3: He just didn't seem like his blood pressure or heart
- 16:28Speaker 3: rate got above just resting heart rate, like he's really good.
- 16:32Speaker 3: He had some some dimes. I'm just really impressed with
- 16:35Speaker 3: him and the job that they did. I think they're
- 16:36Speaker 3: a little bit of an anomaly. A lot of questions
- 16:38Speaker 3: in the Mailbager, you know, should the Patriots do with
- 16:41Speaker 3: the red Sorry the Commanders did and you know, go
- 16:43Speaker 3: out and I mean it sounds great, but I think
- 16:45Speaker 3: really it's still You've got a good core there, guys
- 16:47Speaker 3: that they drafted, and the quarterback.
- 16:49Speaker 2: You think that the sixty five games or so he
- 16:52Speaker 2: played in college did help him this year?
- 16:55Speaker 6: Of course, absolutely. Yeah, it'd be interesting to see how
- 16:58Speaker 6: that trend continues now with the NIL, with guys going
- 17:01Speaker 6: back and opting to go back, do they come in
- 17:04Speaker 6: a little bit more pro ready at the quarterback position
- 17:07Speaker 6: in particular, because I mean, he does not look like
- 17:09Speaker 6: a rookie, like he looks like somebody that has been
- 17:12Speaker 6: playing for a while. And he played at the in
- 17:15Speaker 6: the SEC at LSU in a big time program. You know,
- 17:17Speaker 6: it's not the NFL, but it's as close as you're
- 17:19Speaker 6: going to get in terms of a minor league's for
- 17:22Speaker 6: the NFL. And he looks like a completely seasoned vet
- 17:26Speaker 6: out there.
- 17:26Speaker 2: You know, not to get down too much in a
- 17:28Speaker 2: rabbit hole in this whole NIL thing, but do you
- 17:30Speaker 2: think teams could run into issues where you got a guy,
- 17:34Speaker 2: let's just say it's Jaden Daniels and he's coming into
- 17:36Speaker 2: his third year of eligibility, fourth year, but you got
- 17:39Speaker 2: this hot shot recruit and you want to start playing.
- 17:42Speaker 4: Him right now.
- 17:44Speaker 2: Yeah, Well, there'll be issues like arch Manning.
- 17:46Speaker 6: You know, it's exactly what's happening in Texas.
- 17:48Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I don't think necessarily the NIL is going
- 17:53Speaker 4: to affect the top quarterbacks. I think Jaden Daniels needed
- 17:57Speaker 4: to sort of stay that long. He wasn't anywhere near
- 18:02Speaker 4: that level of a prospect heading into that senior year,
- 18:05Speaker 4: as he ended up being an unbelievable year. Like arch Manning,
- 18:10Speaker 4: I think those kinds of guys that that he's going
- 18:12Speaker 4: to make a ton. Yeah, I think he's going to
- 18:14Speaker 4: lead the country, right and n I l.
- 18:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I think this year.
- 18:19Speaker 4: His deal is already the highest in the country. I
- 18:22Speaker 4: wouldn't expect him to be in school much longer. Like,
- 18:26Speaker 4: I think he'll go anyway, even though he can make
- 18:28Speaker 4: really good money in college. Maybe he stayed. If he
- 18:31Speaker 4: doesn't have a great year, Maybe he'll stay and play
- 18:34Speaker 4: a second year because he can go after next year.
- 18:37Speaker 2: Teams like wanting to force guys out well and then.
- 18:41Speaker 4: Queen Yours that's what Evan's talking about. Queen Ewers was
- 18:44Speaker 4: the starter and it's pretty clear that he can he
- 18:48Speaker 4: can stay in school if he wants. But Arch Manning
- 18:50Speaker 4: is going to be the quarterback next year.
- 18:51Speaker 2: Yeah, So he goes into the portal and goes somewhere else.
- 18:54Speaker 4: He actually is he turned already, he declared for the draft.
- 18:57Speaker 3: Okay, I'd say one other thing, fred I was uh.
- 19:00Speaker 3: I was impressed with c. J.
- 19:01Speaker 5: Stroud too.
- 19:02Speaker 3: I just thought he showed, you know, some fight. I
- 19:04Speaker 3: agree with that, you know, tough, tough spot for him, But.
- 19:07Speaker 4: I just throwing to one guy.
- 19:08Speaker 3: Yeah, he had a lot to work with. He took
- 19:13Speaker 3: some hits, was hurt. I mean, I don't know how
- 19:14Speaker 3: what the extent of his injury was, but I just
- 19:16Speaker 3: was impressed with him.
- 19:17Speaker 6: Interesting to see what happens there because Bobby slowick Is
- 19:22Speaker 6: went from the hottest coordinator candidate to on the hot
- 19:25Speaker 6: seat really quickly, and it sounds like Demiico Ryans is
- 19:28Speaker 6: kind of contemplating whether or not he's going to come back.
- 19:30Speaker 4: So very lukewarm response to those questions.
- 19:33Speaker 6: Yeah, not that.
- 19:35Speaker 4: Good takeaway though by Stroud, because he didn't have like
- 19:38Speaker 4: a lot of people like sophomore slump. He took a
- 19:40Speaker 4: step back, just like watching that game in a big spotlight,
- 19:45Speaker 4: happy happy with him. If he may have taken a
- 19:48Speaker 4: step back, I didn't, I don't know if maybe he
- 19:50Speaker 4: didn't play that well in a lot of these games.
- 19:52Speaker 4: But man, yeah, I showed a lot of toughness and
- 19:54Speaker 4: a lot of leadership in that game.
- 19:56Speaker 2: Not that Josh Allen had a monster game, but did
- 19:59Speaker 2: he get an edge now with the MVP voting after.
- 20:01Speaker 4: Well, it doesn't matter because that's the life I know.
- 20:03Speaker 2: But they voted, Yeah, they should count these games.
- 20:08Speaker 4: I don't think. I mean, my big takeaway from the
- 20:12Speaker 4: weekend is a lot of these you know, hot shot
- 20:14Speaker 4: assistants didn't really cover themselves in glory. I think Ben
- 20:17Speaker 4: Johnson's double reverse pass was really really ill.
- 20:21Speaker 2: Timed, not needed.
- 20:23Speaker 4: I think that I already talked about Aaron Glenn. I
- 20:25Speaker 4: think he was the single biggest reason why the Lions lost.
- 20:30Speaker 4: And I thought Joe Brady that was a terrible, terrible
- 20:34Speaker 4: second half game plan that he put together. I don't
- 20:37Speaker 4: know how you can have Josh Allen and decide you
- 20:40Speaker 4: just stay over there, don't get involved in the game,
- 20:42Speaker 4: stay over there. We're just gonna run every single first down.
- 20:45Speaker 4: We're going to run the ball. And yet they won again,
- 20:48Speaker 4: Well they won, Harry. I mean, I believe I was
- 20:51Speaker 4: rooting for Buffalo, you know, I like Josh Allen, I
- 20:53Speaker 4: was rooting for Buffalo.
- 20:54Speaker 2: You hate the Patriots, so it makes sense I couldn't.
- 20:56Speaker 6: I couldn't root for anybody in that game. I was like,
- 20:59Speaker 6: my like two children. To me, it's like which quarterback
- 21:02Speaker 6: do I root for? Right now? I was devastated that
- 21:05Speaker 6: it ended that way for Lamar because I know the
- 21:07Speaker 6: discourse for him is just going to be nauseating.
- 21:09Speaker 4: And I was like, drop with you, Like if you
- 21:15Speaker 4: if you come out of that game and you're like, see,
- 21:17Speaker 4: you can't win with guys like Lamar Jackson, Like that's
- 21:20Speaker 4: a you probably like.
- 21:21Speaker 2: If you watch that, make a couple of mistakes.
- 21:23Speaker 4: Oh no, No, he wasn't perfect. He didn't play a
- 21:25Speaker 4: perfect game, but like the interception was laughably bad in
- 21:28Speaker 4: the fall and the ball security and the fumble was
- 21:32Speaker 4: a bad play. Like I'm not saying he was perfect,
- 21:34Speaker 4: but if you watched that last drive and you and
- 21:37Speaker 4: you came away and you said, see, you can't ever
- 21:39Speaker 4: win with guys like that, BS, that's a you problems.
- 21:43Speaker 4: That was an unbelievable last were amazing.
- 21:46Speaker 2: We were texting, if Andrews catches the ball, they still
- 21:49Speaker 2: have over a minute three left.
- 21:52Speaker 4: Mark Andrews deprived me of my moment. I wanted to
- 21:55Speaker 4: see Josh.
- 21:56Speaker 2: I wanted to see Josh. There's plenty of time even
- 21:59Speaker 2: if he blew up.
- 22:00Speaker 4: And you want to like add to the he's a
- 22:01Speaker 4: joker thing, Yeah, Like I think they would have easily
- 22:05Speaker 4: gone down. And whether or not Best made the field goal,
- 22:07Speaker 4: who knows, because that guy's a little bit of a
- 22:09Speaker 4: loose cannon too, although he had a good game.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Yeah, dude.
- 22:12Speaker 3: So it's so hard when it's Mark Andrews though, I mean.
- 22:14Speaker 4: Probably rely on the guy. I just cannot drop that.
- 22:18Speaker 2: I was trying to remember who's the famous cowboy.
- 22:20Speaker 4: I think Jackie Smith.
- 22:21Speaker 2: Jackie Smith, he dropped that.
- 22:23Speaker 4: He's got to be the sickest man in America.
- 22:25Speaker 6: As fumbled.
- 22:26Speaker 4: Yeah, the fumble was the biggest player in the game
- 22:28Speaker 4: because Baltimore was going down to take the lead on
- 22:31Speaker 4: that drive.
- 22:32Speaker 6: Andrews.
- 22:32Speaker 4: It's the same as the Karen Williams fumble in the
- 22:34Speaker 4: Rams game. The Rams were absolutely going down to score
- 22:37Speaker 4: into they were going to take the lead in the
- 22:38Speaker 4: fourth quarter and Karen Williams fumbled because the best player
- 22:41Speaker 4: on the field MIC was o.
- 22:42Speaker 3: Jalen Carter Man faux show. I just think back to
- 22:45Speaker 3: him being at the when all of a sudden he
- 22:48Speaker 3: was supposed to speak right and then all of a
- 22:49Speaker 3: sudden he wasn't because of the legal issue. And you know,
- 22:52Speaker 3: the Eagles get a gift. He probably drops a little bit,
- 22:54Speaker 3: and you know, credit to them for pouncing on him.
- 22:55Speaker 3: But man, he's impacting. I think he played every play
- 22:58Speaker 3: at least of the first half.
- 22:59Speaker 4: I mean the postseason and pressures too.
- 23:01Speaker 6: Yeah, he's one of the if it's him and Chris
- 23:04Speaker 6: Jones at this point for the top spot amongst.
- 23:06Speaker 4: I was thanking Chris Jones Aaron Donald watching him. He's
- 23:09Speaker 4: so disruptive from that spot. He's like those guys yep.
- 23:13Speaker 4: And he won the game for them. They lose if
- 23:15Speaker 4: it's not I don't care how many yards sa Kuon
- 23:16Speaker 4: Barkley had. They lose that game if not for Jalen Carter.
- 23:19Speaker 3: I texted Paul at halftime of that Eagles game, and
- 23:22Speaker 3: I was like, yep, Paul, almost two hundred yards rushing
- 23:24Speaker 3: in the first half and they're up by three. It's like, Douce,
- 23:27Speaker 3: you know me too well.
- 23:30Speaker 4: It was kind of similar with like Baltimore's like one
- 23:33Speaker 4: hundred and seventy nine yards and you know, averaged over
- 23:35Speaker 4: five yards to carry. But yeah, but they're sitting on
- 23:37Speaker 4: nineteen with two minutes left, and all of a sudden,
- 23:40Speaker 4: you throw the ball in every play and got on
- 23:41Speaker 4: the score touchdown. Yeah, you know, that's it's it's hard
- 23:46Speaker 4: to do it. And listen, both of those teams, Philly
- 23:49Speaker 4: and Baltimore, they don't just run the ball well. They
- 23:52Speaker 4: have explosive players in the running game.
- 23:54Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, but even so.
- 23:56Speaker 4: Sixty two and seventy eight yard touchdowns for Barkley, I
- 23:59Speaker 4: think it was like a forty yard run for Hurts,
- 24:02Speaker 4: like they piled up. I mean, they made big plays
- 24:04Speaker 4: in the running game, but they can't throw it all.
- 24:06Speaker 4: The difference for Baltimore is lamark and throw it too. Yeah,
- 24:11Speaker 4: you know, that's what makes them So that's why I
- 24:13Speaker 4: said I had a championship feel. I think Baltimore could
- 24:18Speaker 4: very easily make a claim that they're still the best
- 24:21Speaker 4: team in football and they're done going it to the
- 24:23Speaker 4: final four.
- 24:23Speaker 2: I thought that was like I thought, I thought they
- 24:27Speaker 2: were were really really good.
- 24:28Speaker 6: Yeah, that was to me. It was the two best
- 24:30Speaker 6: teams in the league. I agree it happened in the
- 24:33Speaker 6: final eight. This happens all the time. I feel like
- 24:35Speaker 6: in like these tournament settings.
- 24:36Speaker 2: A few years ago it was Buffalo, but they're estimating
- 24:39Speaker 2: the Chiefs because they're making it look easy.
- 24:41Speaker 6: Right now, now, I thought you thought it.
- 24:44Speaker 4: They made it look easy. I thought everything was like disjointed,
- 24:48Speaker 4: like this is one that I'm with the Patriots fans.
- 24:49Speaker 2: Well because of their defense those because you're focusing on
- 24:52Speaker 2: the offense, the defense had control.
- 24:55Speaker 4: I didn't think so if the if the you know,
- 24:57Speaker 4: Taylor's there control, here we go. I think the referee,
- 25:04Speaker 4: I've said many times that stop being babies. Every critical
- 25:10Speaker 4: juncture of that game that Houston looked like they were
- 25:12Speaker 4: starting to like get a little foothold. There was a
- 25:15Speaker 4: ridiculous call and the.
- 25:17Speaker 8: Flock that and that bugs me. And then they didn't
- 25:23Speaker 8: call that one. They did, in fairness, they didn't call,
- 25:26Speaker 8: but that was the that was the most embarrassing moment
- 25:29Speaker 8: from Mahomes blatantly is trying.
- 25:31Speaker 4: For the call. But the two, the two the first
- 25:33Speaker 4: one I can understand, the will Anderson. It was a
- 25:37Speaker 4: high hit. I think if you look at the replay again,
- 25:39Speaker 4: maybe he didn't make contact with the head, but it
- 25:41Speaker 4: was late and unnecessary, but also behind him.
- 25:44Speaker 2: You notice what Mahomes did even on that play, snaps
- 25:47Speaker 2: the head back. Did you see that he knows what
- 25:49Speaker 2: he's doing.
- 25:50Speaker 4: I think that that call at least was understandable. The
- 25:54Speaker 4: second one.
- 25:55Speaker 3: Where he just drops to the ground in the house.
- 25:57Speaker 4: I go to those those I go to those meetings
- 26:00Speaker 4: in training camp when the officials talk to us and
- 26:02Speaker 4: they always tell us, you know, are you are you
- 26:06Speaker 4: instructed to let a play play out when there's like
- 26:08Speaker 4: a question whether or not it's a fumble, let it
- 26:10Speaker 4: play out. And then no, we're instructed to call what
- 26:13Speaker 4: we see. How can you call that a hit when
- 26:18Speaker 4: they never made contact?
- 26:19Speaker 2: It would make couch and it was so the last
- 26:21Speaker 2: second sight.
- 26:23Speaker 4: I wouldn't have called it even if they had made
- 26:25Speaker 4: helmet to helmet content it was so late because it
- 26:27Speaker 4: was so late. But they hit each other.
- 26:30Speaker 2: Right, call what you.
- 26:31Speaker 4: See and they give him. Now listen, do I think
- 26:34Speaker 4: to your point, Fred, do I think that if they
- 26:36Speaker 4: didn't call that, the Chiefs were going to lose?
- 26:38Speaker 2: No?
- 26:38Speaker 4: I think they would have scored on that drive even
- 26:40Speaker 4: without that call. But they're too good to give them
- 26:43Speaker 4: three yards.
- 26:44Speaker 2: But that's what people were saying about the Patriots for
- 26:46Speaker 2: twenty years, you.
- 26:47Speaker 3: Know, I mean, I get it, But at the same time,
- 26:49Speaker 3: like you could hear Houston like already going in had
- 26:52Speaker 3: the mindset of we're playing the rest too, And then
- 26:54Speaker 3: when those calls start to happen, even with the horse caller,
- 26:58Speaker 3: what's the new rule where you slide into the guy's
- 27:00Speaker 3: feet that they just did this year that wasn't called
- 27:02Speaker 3: right off the bat slide into the guy, you know,
- 27:06Speaker 3: the hip drop tackle like right off the bat. But
- 27:08Speaker 3: you feel like Houston's already like set up mentally to
- 27:10Speaker 3: be like they, well, here we go.
- 27:12Speaker 4: Because there it was too many guys that we knew
- 27:14Speaker 4: we were coming here. It was us against everybody. Like, yeah,
- 27:17Speaker 4: that's a bad message that Jamago Ryans gave his team
- 27:20Speaker 4: if that's what the mindset was heading into it.
- 27:22Speaker 3: That game was the low point of the weekend for me,
- 27:23Speaker 3: and I just like, and aside from like, I don't
- 27:25Speaker 3: want to be the Patriots fan who's now bitching about
- 27:27Speaker 3: the refs, but like the Mahomes thing where he's trying
- 27:30Speaker 3: to draw halls and it's just it's a bad look
- 27:33Speaker 3: for the league, and especially when it's your marquee player
- 27:36Speaker 3: who's in the middle of all these different plays that
- 27:38Speaker 3: people and and like those plays happen. It's across the
- 27:41Speaker 3: board on Twitter, everybody.
- 27:43Speaker 2: In this next game Mahomes that you know, I'll tell
- 27:46Speaker 2: you what.
- 27:47Speaker 4: I thought that might have been a like a trickle
- 27:49Speaker 4: down effect.
- 27:50Speaker 2: Freddy Is.
- 27:51Speaker 4: I watched the like that was the first game, and
- 27:54Speaker 4: I wonder if like there was a talk with the officials,
- 27:57Speaker 4: because I thought they were much more with and I
- 28:01Speaker 4: think for the better. I didn't think there was any
- 28:03Speaker 4: call that was missed. I know, like Lamar had one
- 28:06Speaker 4: that he was running to the sideline and he kind
- 28:08Speaker 4: of got dragged out of bounce, but the contact started
- 28:10Speaker 4: in the field of play and then it followed through
- 28:12Speaker 4: like that's hard to just tell a guy, Okay, now
- 28:14Speaker 4: you need to stop because now over here it was legal,
- 28:17Speaker 4: but now you're in the white it's not. He already
- 28:19Speaker 4: had him. Yeah, that absolutely, I think that would have
- 28:23Speaker 4: been a flag if it was Mahomes.
- 28:24Speaker 2: Okay, it's just the feeling the Mahome hated that holding
- 28:26Speaker 2: call on that poor left hack.
- 28:31Speaker 6: There was another text moment friends, a very big and
- 28:35Speaker 6: line Twitter right now the snatch move, like yeah, snatch
- 28:38Speaker 6: move is a technique that.
- 28:39Speaker 4: Every one of them goes. That's coaching, take every one
- 28:42Speaker 4: of your doors.
- 28:45Speaker 2: I did that in pop Water. I learned that and
- 28:47Speaker 2: I was taking this guy down on everybody. Yeah, and
- 28:49Speaker 2: he started aching that's okay, Well.
- 28:54Speaker 6: If you're going to get long arm, then there's really
- 28:56Speaker 6: nothing else that you do. Like if you're going to
- 28:58Speaker 6: get you know, bulrush long arm, like that's the counter Like,
- 29:01Speaker 6: that's the teaching point from a coaching perspective. You know,
- 29:04Speaker 6: if you get long arm, you knock the arm down.
- 29:06Speaker 6: And if you're going to get called for holding for that,
- 29:08Speaker 6: now that was that.
- 29:09Speaker 4: Was a bad call. Now that was the only penalty
- 29:11Speaker 4: on the Bills in the game. But that but that
- 29:13Speaker 4: took but that took points off the board for Buffalo
- 29:15Speaker 4: when you put it that way, well, they weren't there.
- 29:17Speaker 4: There was only six penalties in the game, and like
- 29:19Speaker 4: three of them there was a delayed game and two
- 29:22Speaker 4: false starts. I think the passing the finance was a
- 29:24Speaker 4: terrible call on Tredavius White.
- 29:27Speaker 3: That was not I was with you, though, Paul, with
- 29:29Speaker 3: the just the weather of those two games on Sunday
- 29:31Speaker 3: where and I heard Kurt Warner say this. It was
- 29:33Speaker 3: you know, look, I get it, like we have to
- 29:35Speaker 3: you know teams like when I was in Arizona, but
- 29:37Speaker 3: there's just no way to prepare for us. Like especially,
- 29:42Speaker 3: I thought it was too big of an impact.
- 29:44Speaker 4: There was a big difference once it got really bad
- 29:46Speaker 4: that I thought there was a big difference between There
- 29:48Speaker 4: was like a span of time where the Rams clearly
- 29:52Speaker 4: weren't adjusting to the weather and they I think were
- 29:55Speaker 4: to Evan's point, like Philly doesn't have that sophisticated to
- 29:59Speaker 4: a passing game and the Rams do. And I think
- 30:03Speaker 4: it really hurt the Rams.
- 30:05Speaker 2: They just had a thing on one of Paul's TV shows,
- 30:08Speaker 2: NBC Sports Boston. It was a poll or a ranking poll,
- 30:15Speaker 2: non playoff team that's most likely to rebound next year.
- 30:18Speaker 2: Number one was the Bengals. I can't understand that, you know,
- 30:21Speaker 2: Burrow and all, that they can score points I can
- 30:24Speaker 2: get to get. Number two was the Cowboys. Can we
- 30:27Speaker 2: wait to see who their coaches? I mean, like, why
- 30:30Speaker 2: do they always get the benefit of the doubt that team?
- 30:33Speaker 4: Well, people probably assume the quarterback will be healthy next year.
- 30:37Speaker 4: He wasn't this year. Maybe so they'll be better.
- 30:39Speaker 2: Okay, but even when he was better, what if they won? Yeah,
- 30:42Speaker 2: well what if.
- 30:42Speaker 4: They want or will they be better than a losing team?
- 30:45Speaker 4: So they'll bounce back.
- 30:46Speaker 2: Well to find bounce back to me, bounce back in
- 30:50Speaker 2: the playoffs.
- 30:50Speaker 4: Yeah, they'll probably make the playoffs. They make the playoffs
- 30:53Speaker 4: when Dak Prescott's healthy. As a general rule, to your point,
- 30:56Speaker 4: they don't win anything when they get there. Yeah, but
- 30:58Speaker 4: they're a playoff team if the quarterback is healthy. They
- 31:00Speaker 4: went seven and ten? What them tricky facts?
- 31:05Speaker 3: You you were tricky facts?
- 31:09Speaker 2: So commanders to now, So getting back to where we started,
- 31:12Speaker 2: it was the worst outcome for me because the Bills
- 31:14Speaker 2: and getting back to me, Bills and the Chiefs are
- 31:18Speaker 2: both in the in the AFC Championship now, so there's
- 31:21Speaker 2: a fifty percent chance that one of these two teams
- 31:23Speaker 2: that I most want w.
- 31:25Speaker 4: To What don't you hate the Eagles too? But it
- 31:28Speaker 4: was one of your underrated Hayes three out of four.
- 31:31Speaker 4: You have to root for them.
- 31:32Speaker 3: I know, command and I think you left out though,
- 31:35Speaker 3: But I mean, like Jayden Daniels winning a super Bowl,
- 31:37Speaker 3: that's probably not great for Drake may right, and not
- 31:39Speaker 3: a great look. Maybe a little bit little bit that does.
- 31:42Speaker 4: That put on can I play the role of my shows?
- 31:44Speaker 4: Does that put on due pressure on Drake May? Is
- 31:47Speaker 4: he falling behind? Fallen behind? That's how they do it.
- 31:52Speaker 4: Tailor is like in the feudal position.
- 31:54Speaker 6: But d Rowland in the Super Bowl. Think about the
- 31:58Speaker 6: Chad Ryland kick though, all see like it goes back
- 32:00Speaker 6: And I don't understand that argument because he missed the
- 32:03Speaker 6: kick against the Giants, which was the bigger on the
- 32:07Speaker 6: draft order, Like, it really bugs me when he does that.
- 32:09Speaker 6: I'm not gonna lie because I'm like it just that's
- 32:11Speaker 6: logically incorrect.
- 32:13Speaker 4: The fact that the game was tied, like they could
- 32:17Speaker 4: have won it over time.
- 32:18Speaker 6: He says, like it cost him. Jayden Daniels like, no,
- 32:20Speaker 6: he got them Drake May by missing the kick against
- 32:23Speaker 6: the Gickets.
- 32:23Speaker 9: There you go.
- 32:25Speaker 6: I don't know how we don't see that.
- 32:26Speaker 2: So here's how I'm making lemonade out of these lemons.
- 32:29Speaker 2: I'm rooting for the Chiefs now because not to win it,
- 32:33Speaker 2: but at least to win the AC Championship because if
- 32:35Speaker 2: they do win the Super Bowl, it'll be three in
- 32:37Speaker 2: a row and it'll kind of like be a reason
- 32:42Speaker 2: for Patriots fans to start over to say, all right,
- 32:44Speaker 2: forget about the dynasty. This team's just as good as
- 32:47Speaker 2: we were. They're actually doing it in a shorter period
- 32:49Speaker 2: of time. There's no reason. There's no reason for them
- 32:53Speaker 2: to start losing because Mahomes is healthy. Reads there, they're
- 32:58Speaker 2: gonna continue winning up and when Brady played Mahomes. I know,
- 33:02Speaker 2: but I'm just saying that now Patriots.
- 33:04Speaker 4: Fans will they didn't get there nine times.
- 33:07Speaker 2: Patriots fans will be forced to look ahead and stop
- 33:10Speaker 2: looking back.
- 33:11Speaker 4: No, I understand what you're saying. It was funny like
- 33:13Speaker 4: Shaughnessy had a column this morning and he's like just
- 33:16Speaker 4: sort of shut up and deal with it, you know.
- 33:20Speaker 4: But he had a part of it like it's like
- 33:23Speaker 4: they'll never do what the Patriots did, and he had
- 33:26Speaker 4: like the nine you know, how do you know? I
- 33:28Speaker 4: don't really know how you can like the reason the better.
- 33:32Speaker 4: The reason why Patriots fans are a little antsy is
- 33:35Speaker 4: because they see the possibilities. Right, the guy is still young,
- 33:40Speaker 4: and there's I'm sorry, as long as he's healthy, they
- 33:44Speaker 4: will have a chance every year, just like I say,
- 33:46Speaker 4: Buffalo will have a chance every year, and Baltimore will
- 33:48Speaker 4: have a chance every year. As long as those quarterbacks
- 33:51Speaker 4: are healthy, they're going to have a chance to get
- 33:53Speaker 4: their teams to this spot.
- 33:54Speaker 2: And they know how to win.
- 33:55Speaker 6: You know, if they were playing straight up in the
- 33:58Speaker 6: AFC Championship game, i'd pay Buffalo and the landslide. But
- 34:02Speaker 6: we we already know it's not going to be straight up,
- 34:04Speaker 6: so I would assume wait.
- 34:07Speaker 4: Snakeman, because of the refs play.
- 34:13Speaker 6: It's just pretty obvious, like at this point with the Chiefs.
- 34:16Speaker 6: And also just like they they just keep on lucking
- 34:19Speaker 6: out on so many different things, like you just got that,
- 34:23Speaker 6: like more missfield goals.
- 34:24Speaker 2: But I mean that was us, Like good teams forced
- 34:27Speaker 2: bad good teams forced the other team into.
- 34:30Speaker 4: Said they said to Fred that Mark Andrews dropping the
- 34:32Speaker 4: two point conversion was Brady era Patriots opponent.
- 34:35Speaker 2: Like yeah, I mean other teams made those mistakes because
- 34:39Speaker 2: the pressures on them when they play US.
- 34:42Speaker 6: Well, they're not going to play straight up in the
- 34:43Speaker 6: APES Championship.
- 34:44Speaker 2: And now, what's the Taylor Swift effect? You think the
- 34:48Speaker 2: league is saying, you know, we like her. Yeah, they've
- 34:52Speaker 2: got everybody in the booth.
- 34:53Speaker 3: Now, Like I just I wasn't overly impressed with this
- 34:56Speaker 3: Chiefs team. Somehow they just keep winning, so you have
- 34:59Speaker 3: to respect that. But but at the same time, like Buffalout,
- 35:02Speaker 3: they've really impressed me this year, and Philadelphia has impressed
- 35:05Speaker 3: me at times. I don't trust Jalen Hurts, But I
- 35:07Speaker 3: just if they win these next two games and win
- 35:10Speaker 3: another Super Bowl, it'll be it'll be a pretty remarkable achievement.
- 35:13Speaker 3: Given what this team is shown over the course of
- 35:15Speaker 3: this year. It's just not all that impressive to me.
- 35:17Speaker 4: I just would hope if they if they do win it,
- 35:20Speaker 4: I can live with it. But I just hope that
- 35:23Speaker 4: it's not like games like Saturdays. Can we can we
- 35:27Speaker 4: just have them win the game because they're better than
- 35:29Speaker 4: the other team, like and they don't have these plays
- 35:32Speaker 4: in these They can't these flute like to Evan's point,
- 35:34Speaker 4: like the miss field goals and the bad plays on
- 35:38Speaker 4: special teams, the bad calls at the wrong times. Can
- 35:42Speaker 4: we just have it be straight up and have Kansas City.
- 35:44Speaker 6: Win two games out because they can't? Like all right,
- 35:48Speaker 6: this is where I'm.
- 35:49Speaker 2: Going to.
- 35:51Speaker 4: I think I don't think every game was handed they have.
- 35:55Speaker 6: They have a game winning field goal against Denver that
- 35:57Speaker 6: gets blocked from thirty five yards out and win the game.
- 36:00Speaker 6: Like other games, it happens every single week that something
- 36:05Speaker 6: like this with Kansas City happens.
- 36:07Speaker 2: They were winning a lot of last second game.
- 36:09Speaker 4: This is like everywhere.
- 36:10Speaker 2: But that's a good team.
- 36:11Speaker 4: But that's yeah, I don't that's I don't hold that
- 36:14Speaker 4: against the team.
- 36:15Speaker 6: I'm not sure they're good.
- 36:16Speaker 2: I can't believe I'm defending the Chiefs.
- 36:17Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm defending the Patriot. I don't. Yeah, I don't
- 36:22Speaker 4: take it to that extreme, but I do. I do
- 36:24Speaker 4: get frustrated with the Mahomes treatment as much as I
- 36:27Speaker 4: think Mahomes is unbelievable, but I do get frustrated with
- 36:30Speaker 4: the Mahomes.
- 36:30Speaker 2: What I can't live with is the Bills winning the
- 36:32Speaker 2: Super Bowl. That to me, that's that's the worst. That
- 36:36Speaker 2: would be the worst of all outcomes.
- 36:38Speaker 6: I don't know they would be in.
- 36:40Speaker 3: They're already in sufferable.
- 36:42Speaker 2: I know, that's what I'm saying.
- 36:43Speaker 6: The idea of having to watch another Chiefs Eagles super
- 36:47Speaker 6: Bowl just pains me so much that I'm okay with
- 36:50Speaker 6: the Bills winning because.
- 36:52Speaker 4: I have no But you also, like Josh, I have,
- 36:55Speaker 4: but I have not, But.
- 36:56Speaker 6: I have no desire to watch another Chiefs Eagles Super Bowl,
- 36:59Speaker 6: especially this version of the Chiefs and the Eagles. The
- 37:02Speaker 6: teams two years ago put on a great show. That
- 37:04Speaker 6: was a really good game in the Super Bowl. This
- 37:06Speaker 6: is this is not that?
- 37:08Speaker 4: How about a J Brown after you know, the passing
- 37:13Speaker 4: games out. We gotta do this, We got to do that.
- 37:16Speaker 4: I mean those a pretty bad performance. Yeah yeah, that
- 37:20Speaker 4: drop it the goal line that was that was a really.
- 37:23Speaker 3: Bad They should they should get they should cut him
- 37:25Speaker 3: loose and we should take some One guy that I
- 37:29Speaker 3: will give some flowers to on the Chiefs is Trum McDuffie.
- 37:31Speaker 4: I thought he was really he was outstanding in that game.
- 37:35Speaker 3: Anytime they had to like need it play going an
- 37:36Speaker 3: Eco Collins strange so maybe.
- 37:40Speaker 6: You know the Bills will actually cover Travis Kelsey, who
- 37:42Speaker 6: like can't run anymore, and it still gets open.
- 37:45Speaker 4: I can't believe he didn't get a touchdown on that
- 37:47Speaker 4: one that he sort of cut that. I was like,
- 37:49Speaker 4: there's nobody there and they still ran him down inside
- 37:51Speaker 4: the ten.
- 37:53Speaker 6: All right, past Like this worries it angers me watching them.
- 37:59Speaker 2: Eight five with the past five hundred is the TPS
- 38:03Speaker 2: About Me podcast at Patriots dot Com is the email address.
- 38:07Speaker 2: Let's hear what everyone has to say in how their
- 38:10Speaker 2: weekend went. We'll start on the TPX outline. We'll start
- 38:13Speaker 2: with William and Philam what's up? William William And I.
- 38:21Speaker 4: Was a little I was a little surprised because I
- 38:23Speaker 4: had some takes that I thought were a little bit
- 38:25Speaker 4: outside of the box that I thought Evan would probably
- 38:28Speaker 4: you know, like what push back. I don't know, just in.
- 38:31Speaker 6: General, well, like the Ben Johnson thing, I just I
- 38:35Speaker 6: guess I just really don't feel like defending him today because.
- 38:38Speaker 4: That wouldn't be one of them that that was a
- 38:41Speaker 4: bad that was a bad time to come.
- 38:43Speaker 6: So everybody gets mad at him for calling the trick play,
- 38:45Speaker 6: but all the other trick plays that the Lions run
- 38:47Speaker 6: all year long that everybody goes Google Gaga for, it's like, yeah, there,
- 38:51Speaker 6: it's a risk, Like you're running a trick play. You're
- 38:53Speaker 6: gonna happen, but there's a time and a place, right,
- 38:55Speaker 6: But oh, Jamison Williams, I'm sure is coach, if this
- 38:59Speaker 6: is wide open, you throw it away into the tenth row,
- 39:03Speaker 6: Like why is that why you don't call it? But
- 39:05Speaker 6: it's first down, Like just throw the ball away? He's
- 39:08Speaker 6: not open scream.
- 39:11Speaker 2: It seemed a little unneeded at the time, but I.
- 39:14Speaker 4: Felt like he's only going to get that fifty yards
- 39:16Speaker 4: and now make it a three point game. That's probably
- 39:18Speaker 4: still eight minutes.
- 39:18Speaker 6: But let's say every single trick play the Lions that
- 39:21Speaker 6: ran over the last couple of years is that. You know,
- 39:23Speaker 6: do they really need to run the hook and ladder
- 39:25Speaker 6: when they're up by three touchdowns?
- 39:26Speaker 5: No?
- 39:27Speaker 2: Yeah, but they weren't up by three touchdowns.
- 39:28Speaker 4: Yes, that's my that's the time and place, Like you
- 39:32Speaker 4: basically have to score in this drive.
- 39:33Speaker 6: I just have a like, Jamison Williams made a bad decision.
- 39:37Speaker 6: Now you can sit here and say, why do you
- 39:39Speaker 6: have the receiver throwing the ball? Fine, but like I
- 39:41Speaker 6: also just think it's hypocritical. I think it's hypocritical that
- 39:44Speaker 6: we're gonna blame Ben Johnson for his offense having five
- 39:47Speaker 6: hundred yards and thirty one points.
- 39:48Speaker 4: What did I tell you was the reason why they lost?
- 39:50Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 39:50Speaker 4: No, but I just think it I'm not offense. You
- 39:53Speaker 4: put thirty one on the ball five times and still
- 39:56Speaker 4: put thirty one on the board. That's how good a
- 39:57Speaker 4: coordinator he is. I just didn't like that.
- 39:59Speaker 6: Play called everybody sits here and says that blames it
- 40:03Speaker 6: on on Ben Johnson and the coordinators. Like you're telling
- 40:06Speaker 6: me that this Dan Campbell, like it's the culture, it's
- 40:08Speaker 6: the it's all. But he skates, right, it's the it's
- 40:11Speaker 6: the two coordinator's fault now, Like no, Like.
- 40:13Speaker 4: Well, they didn't have it. He didn't skate on the
- 40:15Speaker 4: NFC championship last last year. That was all on Campbell
- 40:19Speaker 4: and they didn't have those egregious you know, mistakes game management, right.
- 40:23Speaker 6: But this argument get a coach like that, right, that
- 40:27Speaker 6: he's going to build up the culture and he's gonna
- 40:29Speaker 6: build like everybody's gonna play hard, and everybody's gonna be
- 40:32Speaker 6: together and all that kind of stuff that that team
- 40:35Speaker 6: that was a one and done disappointment like that was
- 40:38Speaker 6: that was a terrible.
- 40:39Speaker 4: Loss, but the enemy of twenty ten.
- 40:41Speaker 6: But then the coordinators getta get the heat for it, right,
- 40:44Speaker 6: Like it just to me, it's like you're if he's
- 40:48Speaker 6: gonna get all this credit for building this great program, Well,
- 40:51Speaker 6: people like.
- 40:51Speaker 4: You don't give him any credit for anything. You say,
- 40:54Speaker 4: it's all about the coordinators.
- 40:55Speaker 6: Yeah, and I'm very interested.
- 40:56Speaker 4: So now the coordinators let him down.
- 40:58Speaker 6: I'm very interested to see where they go from here
- 41:00Speaker 6: because I think they have a mediocre quarterback that was
- 41:03Speaker 6: being propped up by agree.
- 41:04Speaker 4: That's so hard, That's all I was looking for a.
- 41:06Speaker 6: Little I really don't scratch. I think Campbell is like
- 41:13Speaker 6: a horrible coach, like I don't. I don't have a
- 41:15Speaker 6: little string.
- 41:16Speaker 4: But I don't think he's all that like horrible.
- 41:18Speaker 6: Might be a little strong, but I I I don't
- 41:20Speaker 6: think that he's a very good coach. I think that
- 41:22Speaker 6: his his decision making is mostly reckless. And they've gotten
- 41:26Speaker 6: away with it for a couple of years because they're
- 41:28Speaker 6: that good. And and I think that he's been carried
- 41:32Speaker 6: in a lot of ways by those courts.
- 41:34Speaker 4: He looks like he's getting bigger in the post Campbell,
- 41:39Speaker 4: He's maybe the podium is getting smaller. I don't know,
- 41:41Speaker 4: he's huge. Like you know, we got our guy who's
- 41:44Speaker 4: pretty big, Rabes, Dan Campbell is.
- 41:47Speaker 3: I'll take big' take Rabes. He's country to Did you
- 41:50Speaker 3: see any of our Did you see any of our
- 41:54Speaker 3: poor friend Hardy at the Detroit Lions game?
- 41:56Speaker 1: No?
- 41:56Speaker 2: But I asked Paul if anyone did a wellness check
- 41:58Speaker 2: on him?
- 41:59Speaker 4: He was there good seats to fifty Fred and Hardy
- 42:02Speaker 4: Fred and Hardy Tough.
- 42:03Speaker 6: We can't be mad. We can't criticize him because he
- 42:06Speaker 6: cried at the press conference.
- 42:08Speaker 4: Well, I don't criticize him for that. I'm just saying
- 42:09Speaker 4: he's a bit of a crier. It's very emotional. Dick
- 42:14Speaker 4: Vermill cried every every time he spoke.
- 42:16Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, the Lions, they're going to regret they should
- 42:19Speaker 6: hire Ben Johnson.
- 42:21Speaker 2: Oh there.
- 42:22Speaker 4: I think they're going to do the do the Bruce
- 42:24Speaker 4: Arians thing.
- 42:25Speaker 2: Yeah in Tampa of push a bumble upstairs and yeah.
- 42:29Speaker 3: Question just real quick while we're on it. With Ben Johnson,
- 42:32Speaker 3: do you think he goes to the Bears and and
- 42:33Speaker 3: keeps running all the trick plays? You have to build
- 42:36Speaker 3: up to that. Can you do that right out of
- 42:37Speaker 3: the gate.
- 42:38Speaker 2: You need a three score bleed?
- 42:39Speaker 4: Well, I think you do have to sort of build
- 42:41Speaker 4: up to it. But yeah, I would expect him to
- 42:43Speaker 4: show that creativity.
- 42:44Speaker 3: Because sometimes it felt like they were just trying to
- 42:46Speaker 3: prove a point or stick it to somebody or something.
- 42:48Speaker 6: I just think that in general, my like the trick
- 42:50Speaker 6: play thing with Ben Johnson and the Lions, I think
- 42:53Speaker 6: gets way overblown like I think that what makes their
- 42:55Speaker 6: offense great is all the other stuff and not in
- 42:58Speaker 6: the trick place.
- 42:58Speaker 2: Johnson will get involved in the selection of the fingernail
- 43:02Speaker 2: polish color each game.
- 43:04Speaker 3: It's an interesting combination those two, that quarterback and that head.
- 43:07Speaker 3: Like I don't know much about Ben Johnson, but I've
- 43:09Speaker 3: seen him. He seems intense, he seems quiet, and Caleb
- 43:12Speaker 3: Williams seems a little bit intense and quiet and a
- 43:15Speaker 3: little weird too. I just I wonder what that is.
- 43:16Speaker 3: Gonna do a lot.
- 43:17Speaker 2: Of running this week. I go with Puce Peas.
- 43:20Speaker 6: But he does have a nice combination. Like Dennis Allen's
- 43:23Speaker 6: gonna be his defensive coordinator, which is what everybody said, Like,
- 43:26Speaker 6: if you're gonna you need a veteran coordinator, there's been
- 43:29Speaker 6: a head coach preferably He's got that sounds like Darren
- 43:32Speaker 6: Rizzy's gonna come down and coach special teams too, So
- 43:35Speaker 6: like they are gonna have a really good staff. It's
- 43:37Speaker 6: gonna be really good the riz.
- 43:38Speaker 2: All Right, So Phil in Toronto has a very important question.
- 43:41Speaker 2: He says, a Jersey Mike's is opening up here in
- 43:43Speaker 2: Toronto on Wednesday, and I'm a big sandwich guy, so
- 43:46Speaker 2: I'm excited to try it. However, this will be a
- 43:49Speaker 2: one time visit for the foreseeable future. Is I have
- 43:52Speaker 2: certain dietary restrictions, Which sandwich would you recommend to get
- 43:55Speaker 2: the most out of this one visit? Well, it depends
- 43:59Speaker 2: on what your diet very restrictions.
- 44:00Speaker 4: Evan will be able to talk to you about your
- 44:02Speaker 4: dietary restrictions. But my choice would be the thirteen. Mike's way.
- 44:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I would go with thirteen. That's the Italian.
- 44:09Speaker 6: It depends on you know what you want, Like I
- 44:11Speaker 6: think that Chipotle cheese steak is the best thing. My
- 44:13Speaker 6: son loves that on the menu. That's if you want.
- 44:16Speaker 6: If you're going to eat a cheese steak. The turkey
- 44:18Speaker 6: you and I yea. The Italian are also solid.
- 44:22Speaker 4: Simple turkey is bad enough on things.
- 44:24Speaker 2: They have a good steak and cheese.
- 44:26Speaker 3: They have a good steak is very good.
- 44:29Speaker 2: But if your dietary restriction is weak, then.
- 44:31Speaker 3: I believe you're getting Milton.
- 44:34Speaker 6: That's about it.
- 44:36Speaker 2: But the thirteen you can't go wrong if you like Italians?
- 44:39Speaker 4: Correct?
- 44:39Speaker 5: You know?
- 44:41Speaker 4: And why wouldn't you like it?
- 44:42Speaker 2: I wouldn't. Uh Grant and Minnesota watching Ohio State last
- 44:46Speaker 2: night and saw Evan's tweet on Amika Agbuca, and it
- 44:50Speaker 2: got me thinking about a thought I've always had about them.
- 44:52Speaker 2: We never draft Ohio State players. With all the good
- 44:55Speaker 2: teams and receivers they've had, It's crazy we never took
- 44:58Speaker 2: a shot on someone from there.
- 45:02Speaker 4: I never really thought of it.
- 45:05Speaker 6: I think the last big player that they've heard.
- 45:10Speaker 2: All I can think of is Yep, and I believe
- 45:13Speaker 2: this was the Jim trest Hill area era. Did Belichick
- 45:16Speaker 2: have a vendenna against Ohio State, Urban Meyer or Ryan Day?
- 45:20Speaker 2: Have you guys ever.
- 45:21Speaker 4: Took all of Urban Meyers guys when he was in Florida?
- 45:23Speaker 2: Have you guys ever heard anything about this or thought
- 45:26Speaker 2: about it before? I feel like, with all the good
- 45:28Speaker 2: teams they've had, we should have taken a shot on
- 45:30Speaker 2: somebody from there.
- 45:31Speaker 6: Yeah, we've this has been discussed. Not to pick on
- 45:36Speaker 6: the email, but I think there was something that might
- 45:39Speaker 6: have happened there, maybe a certain tight end that Bill
- 45:42Speaker 6: felt like maybe the intel wasn't great on and that
- 45:46Speaker 6: could have possibly.
- 45:48Speaker 4: The relationships down Urban Meyer.
- 45:50Speaker 6: Possibly. I'm just that's probably not true. I'm totally speculated.
- 45:54Speaker 4: I would have been more mad at the Jermaine Cunningham.
- 45:57Speaker 6: But I just wonder if there was something like that
- 45:59Speaker 6: that would have been that Bill thought that the intel
- 46:02Speaker 6: that he was getting wasn't great. Maybe it was that, maybe,
- 46:06Speaker 6: you know, just player valuation or whatever. But it has
- 46:09Speaker 6: been discussed that they have not taken a lot of
- 46:11Speaker 6: Ohio State guys, and we talked about it a little
- 46:14Speaker 6: bit off the air. The estimation is that sixteen Buckeyes
- 46:19Speaker 6: are going to be drafted this year, which would be
- 46:21Speaker 6: a record for one program. So there are going to
- 46:25Speaker 6: be a lot of Ohio State talk. You know, both
- 46:28Speaker 6: edge rushers, Buka, their left tackle who was hurt, didn't
- 46:32Speaker 6: even play in the National Championship Game. He's going to
- 46:35Speaker 6: be a high draft pick. They have a lot of
- 46:38Speaker 6: NFL talent, a lot spiin Fresno.
- 46:41Speaker 2: I guess they have a me problem, he says. Yes,
- 46:44Speaker 2: Lamar's last drive was Brady esque. Yes, he's an electric
- 46:47Speaker 2: player in the league. But I don't know how you
- 46:50Speaker 2: look at his postseason track record and just dismiss it
- 46:52Speaker 2: out of hand in your overall account of the player.
- 46:55Speaker 2: He hasn't won two in a row in the postseason,
- 46:58Speaker 2: and he's always been part of the reason why, whether
- 47:00Speaker 2: it's throwing into triple coverage last year or his ball
- 47:03Speaker 2: security this year. He's not the only talented player in
- 47:07Speaker 2: history to have precipitous drop off, as in the playoffs
- 47:10Speaker 2: Marino Romo rivers. I just don't know why it's a
- 47:13Speaker 2: me problem to acknowledge the fact that Lamar belongs in
- 47:16Speaker 2: that category so far.
- 47:18Speaker 4: I listen, I can't argue with you.
- 47:21Speaker 2: When a player tells you he gets antsy in those situations,
- 47:23Speaker 2: believe him.
- 47:24Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, And I don't think he looked like he
- 47:26Speaker 4: was antsy. You don't think in certainly not in the
- 47:29Speaker 4: second half of that game. I think he willed his
- 47:31Speaker 4: team back into the game. I think they were dead
- 47:33Speaker 4: and buried at the half twenty one to ten, Buffalo's
- 47:36Speaker 4: got the ball to come out. Joe Brady and Lamar
- 47:39Speaker 4: Jackson were the two reasons why Baltimore had a chance,
- 47:43Speaker 4: And I can't argue those are all facts. He hasn't
- 47:46Speaker 4: won two in a row. He had two turnovers in
- 47:49Speaker 4: the game. Speed's right, I mean, I mean, I just
- 47:51Speaker 4: look at it and say, I don't think they have
- 47:54Speaker 4: any a little help. That last drive wasn't Brady esque. Yeah,
- 47:57Speaker 4: that last drive was unprecedented. Him running around throwing darts
- 48:01Speaker 4: twenty five yards down the field like that wasn't Brady,
- 48:04Speaker 4: Like Brady would be surgical with as Evan talked about earlier,
- 48:08Speaker 4: with you know, sort of the dnking dunking and getting
- 48:10Speaker 4: in position, just betting perfect with every throw. This was
- 48:15Speaker 4: like just an individual effort three players in like Tyland
- 48:18Speaker 4: Wallace out of nowhere with like a twenty seven yard
- 48:21Speaker 4: completion that was sick. And the amount of time that
- 48:25Speaker 4: he buys to get these guys wide open. I mean
- 48:29Speaker 4: to me, that last drive was was special. Maybe I
- 48:32Speaker 4: go back He's right everything he said.
- 48:34Speaker 2: Maybe I go back on what I said earlier about MVP.
- 48:36Speaker 2: I know the playoffs don't count, but maybe this proves
- 48:39Speaker 2: it is all just Lamar, or it is Lamar more
- 48:42Speaker 2: than it is all just Josh Allen, because like you said,
- 48:45Speaker 2: they're running the ball in Buffalo.
- 48:47Speaker 4: Well they ran the ball more in Baltimore.
- 48:49Speaker 2: But it's it's also his legs.
- 48:52Speaker 6: You know, they both impact, they both run the ball,
- 48:56Speaker 6: but so much of his legs like impact the whole thing, right, like.
- 48:59Speaker 2: They was making there, Like you don't count that in
- 49:01Speaker 2: the rushing, but if you add up the yards. He
- 49:04Speaker 2: runs behind the line of scrimmage.
- 49:06Speaker 4: Right, you know, And this is normally what Buffalo does,
- 49:08Speaker 4: except for Joe Brady decided we have enough points at
- 49:11Speaker 4: halftime of this game. We're not gonna try to score
- 49:13Speaker 4: anymore in the second half. I think he egregiously affected
- 49:16Speaker 4: that game with his play calling in the second half.
- 49:19Speaker 4: I don't know how you can have a guy like
- 49:21Speaker 4: Josh Allen. Okay, you want to be a little conservative,
- 49:23Speaker 4: maybe you don't want him throwing it down the field
- 49:25Speaker 4: as much. Can you let him throw it at least
- 49:27Speaker 4: five yards? Everything was either a quick screen to someone
- 49:30Speaker 4: that the Ravens were eating up or first down run,
- 49:34Speaker 4: first down run, first down run. They had one drive
- 49:36Speaker 4: when it was twenty four to nineteen. The first five
- 49:39Speaker 4: out of six plays of the drive were Josh Allen completions.
- 49:42Speaker 4: They got to the twenty yard line and they did
- 49:44Speaker 4: nothing but run it from there, and they ended up
- 49:46Speaker 4: getting stopped on third down from the two. Even if
- 49:49Speaker 4: you say, okay, we're gonna have Josh, maybe roll out
- 49:52Speaker 4: and have an option. If you don't want to throw it, fine,
- 49:56Speaker 4: you just take a shotgun snap and have him just
- 49:58Speaker 4: plow horse ahead. Like Baltimore was too good for that.
- 50:01Speaker 4: That worked once earlier in the game. You can't just
- 50:03Speaker 4: do the same stuff against teams that are that are.
- 50:06Speaker 3: As good as you are, right well, and that what
- 50:07Speaker 3: I was gonna say, is this the narrative that's waiting
- 50:09Speaker 3: for Josh Allen if he loses to Mahomes again. So
- 50:11Speaker 3: at a certain point you have to credit the fact
- 50:13Speaker 3: that the AFC has three or four really good quarterbacks
- 50:15Speaker 3: right now in these games.
- 50:16Speaker 4: Is I look that game, Josh Allen. I heard someone
- 50:19Speaker 4: say Josh Allen did nothing in this game. Josh Allen
- 50:21Speaker 4: did not make a single mistake in the game. He
- 50:24Speaker 4: did the play every single time.
- 50:25Speaker 3: Well, yeah, he wanted to he wanted to see that.
- 50:28Speaker 4: Yeah, he thought about it. He thought about like lateraling
- 50:33Speaker 4: that back. And I was like, oh my god, this
- 50:35Speaker 4: is that. This would be like Josh, this would be
- 50:37Speaker 4: like rookie year Josh Allen on steroids, Like here we go.
- 50:41Speaker 6: But this is it. They're a good chance. And maybe
- 50:43Speaker 6: Josh Allen loses next week and he can be in
- 50:45Speaker 6: this category two. But that they both have like Peyton
- 50:48Speaker 6: Manning like careers where it takes them a while to
- 50:50Speaker 6: break through because they have the Mahomes in the way
- 50:53Speaker 6: or they have each other in the way, and then
- 50:55Speaker 6: you're eight if you know, one of them wins the
- 50:57Speaker 6: super Bowl. Like I feel like that's where we're headed
- 50:59Speaker 6: with both these guys. And I think the one nice
- 51:02Speaker 6: thing is about watching these guys as not a fan
- 51:04Speaker 6: of either team, is like, I just don't care about
- 51:08Speaker 6: the outcome of the game. I just want them to
- 51:10Speaker 6: do cool stuff, so like it doesn't bother me whether
- 51:13Speaker 6: they win or they lose, and it doesn't become this
- 51:14Speaker 6: whole discourse about the player.
- 51:16Speaker 4: That was kind of like the Buffalo Baltimore game had
- 51:18Speaker 4: that kind of feel for me a little bit, and
- 51:20Speaker 4: it was the same as the Kansas City Buffalo game
- 51:23Speaker 4: from a few years ago. In the division around like
- 51:25Speaker 4: I'm just watching greatness on the watching I'm watching offense.
- 51:28Speaker 4: I'm watching these two guys just execute at such a
- 51:31Speaker 4: high level. You know, it's not my team, so I'm
- 51:33Speaker 4: not as emotionally invested. I just enjoyed it. That's why
- 51:37Speaker 4: I said, I feel like we were because Mark Andrews
- 51:39Speaker 4: dropped that pass, I felt like we were deprived of
- 51:41Speaker 4: another the you know, theater trip and you know one
- 51:45Speaker 4: thing that White.
- 51:46Speaker 6: People get so mad about like, oh, like Lamar's you know,
- 51:51Speaker 6: choking or whatever, like why do you if it's not
- 51:53Speaker 6: your team, and why.
- 51:53Speaker 2: Do you well because they had this takee and now
- 51:56Speaker 2: they're backing it up.
- 51:57Speaker 4: And it's my point though, is that I don't let
- 52:00Speaker 4: the like watch the game and tell me that you
- 52:04Speaker 4: thought that he can't win, right, Like, I'm not telling
- 52:08Speaker 4: you he was perfect, but when he had to be perfect,
- 52:12Speaker 4: he was and he did everything but hand the ball
- 52:16Speaker 4: to Mark Andrews on the two point conversion. There's been
- 52:19Speaker 4: very little talk of John Harbaugh going for two the
- 52:21Speaker 4: first time, which I thought was a bad decision. A
- 52:26Speaker 4: so they cut it to twenty one nineteen still in
- 52:29Speaker 4: the third quarter. They usually tell you don't go for
- 52:32Speaker 4: two until you have to.
- 52:34Speaker 2: Well, I don't care it hurt by going for two.
- 52:36Speaker 2: If you go for one, you make it. Now it's
- 52:38Speaker 2: the one point game instead of a two point game.
- 52:39Speaker 2: What's the difference?
- 52:40Speaker 4: So now you win. You either win the game with
- 52:42Speaker 4: the two point conversion at the end, or you kick
- 52:44Speaker 4: it and go to overtime.
- 52:44Speaker 2: No I know, but at the time, like you still
- 52:47Speaker 2: you need a field goal either way to win the game.
- 52:49Speaker 2: At that present time, whether you made the two point
- 52:52Speaker 2: or not, it's either two point game or a one
- 52:54Speaker 2: point game.
- 52:55Speaker 10: No.
- 52:56Speaker 4: Yeah, if they made the two it would have been tied. Okay, well,
- 53:00Speaker 4: if you kick it, it goes to one. It was
- 53:02Speaker 4: twenty one nineteen.
- 53:03Speaker 2: They ran for two. I got you, So they missed it.
- 53:06Speaker 4: Now here's my bigger problem, and this back to my
- 53:09Speaker 4: overall theme. I thought a lot of these hot shot
- 53:11Speaker 4: assistant coaches that are all in line for head coaching jobs,
- 53:15Speaker 4: I don't think many of them covered themselves with glory
- 53:18Speaker 4: when that drive that they made it twenty one to
- 53:20Speaker 4: nineteen was Derek Henry ten yards, Justice Hill ten yards.
- 53:24Speaker 4: Derek Henry twelve yards, Justice Hill ten yards. They score
- 53:27Speaker 4: a touchdown, and what do they do for the two
- 53:29Speaker 4: point conversion?
- 53:31Speaker 6: They throw the ball.
- 53:31Speaker 4: No, I just run it in it. They couldn't stop you,
- 53:34Speaker 4: but they weren't shopping though.
- 53:35Speaker 2: If you're down by two at that point in the game,
- 53:38Speaker 2: I still say going for the two point conversion made sense.
- 53:40Speaker 4: No, that's fine. I'm saying run the ball. You just
- 53:43Speaker 4: ran it down the throat on that drive. That was
- 53:46Speaker 4: the first time the whole game that Derek Henry got traction.
- 53:49Speaker 4: They shut him down in the first half, they did,
- 53:51Speaker 4: they did in the second half. They figured it out.
- 53:53Speaker 2: But that happens a lot with Derek Henry early on.
- 53:56Speaker 2: It takes him a little while.
- 53:57Speaker 4: Right, So write them, Yeah, don't throw the ball, makes
- 54:00Speaker 4: a good play, knocks the pass down, and they keep
- 54:02Speaker 4: the lead. I thought they kept the momentum. I think
- 54:05Speaker 4: if they kicked the extra point there, which is I
- 54:07Speaker 4: think the thing to do. I think the whole the
- 54:09Speaker 4: rest of the game unfolds differently.
- 54:11Speaker 6: It's an interesting conversation though about you know, he's talking
- 54:14Speaker 6: about the assistance. All these guys are are going to
- 54:17Speaker 6: get jobs anyways, most likely not all of them, but
- 54:20Speaker 6: most of them. Yeah, And so the question is is, like,
- 54:23Speaker 6: it's one game, right, It's one It's it's one playoff game,
- 54:26Speaker 6: and like, how how much does that outweigh the seventeen
- 54:30Speaker 6: games that they played before that, you know, and how
- 54:33Speaker 6: important do we how much weight should we put on
- 54:36Speaker 6: one playoff game?
- 54:37Speaker 4: Yeah, I wouldn't, you know, I wouldn't have that. I mean,
- 54:40Speaker 4: like the thing, I'm not gonna like he gave me some.
- 54:42Speaker 6: Pos but I could hear it either way.
- 54:44Speaker 4: Todd Mounkan was one play, I would not necessarily say
- 54:47Speaker 4: same with Ben Johnson. I was one play I didn't like.
- 54:50Speaker 4: I wouldn't necessarily be affected. But now, just you know,
- 54:53Speaker 4: all these guys are all about the hot shots and
- 54:56Speaker 4: it's kind of a weak crop of coaching Canada. It's
- 55:00Speaker 4: in general, I thought, yeah, it's it's shallow.
- 55:03Speaker 6: I mean, Ben Johnson's a really goot.
- 55:04Speaker 4: Ben Johnson shallows the best.
- 55:06Speaker 2: But yeah, I mean we had our coach is great,
- 55:09Speaker 2: we love it. Ben Johnson's good. So it's a shallow and.
- 55:12Speaker 4: We had a nice little talk with him today.
- 55:14Speaker 10: That was.
- 55:14Speaker 6: That was cool.
- 55:15Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, go away.
- 55:18Speaker 2: Let's go back to the TPX outline. Brent's and Reno.
- 55:21Speaker 6: Hey, Brent, Hey, guys, I just got.
- 55:24Speaker 11: A quick question for you, and I'll take the answer
- 55:27Speaker 11: off air. Do you guys think that based off of
- 55:29Speaker 11: our needs within the next couple of seasons, you know,
- 55:32Speaker 11: through the offensive line and the receivers, and there are
- 55:35Speaker 11: needs on defense, Like, is there enough people coming up
- 55:37Speaker 11: in free agency and the draft to be able to
- 55:39Speaker 11: fill all those and get us in the playoffs and
- 55:41Speaker 11: one to two seasons or do you think it's gonna.
- 55:43Speaker 12: Be like four or five?
- 55:45Speaker 2: Well, no, you're not gonna fill all your needs. Thanks
- 55:48Speaker 2: for the call, you know, you hope to fill three
- 55:51Speaker 2: or four. And but I think where you're gonna make
- 55:55Speaker 2: progress over the long term is you know, signing these
- 56:00Speaker 2: mid level guys, you know, the guys that kind of
- 56:03Speaker 2: is your you know, there's a difference between foundational players
- 56:07Speaker 2: and players that make up your foundation, you know what
- 56:09Speaker 2: I mean, Like you need a lot of guys to
- 56:12Speaker 2: make up a foundation. They're not necessarily your stars, like
- 56:16Speaker 2: guys that you build around, but they're the guys you
- 56:19Speaker 2: build on top of.
- 56:20Speaker 6: It can't take five years five years, no no, no, no,
- 56:24Speaker 6: Bible won't have a job.
- 56:25Speaker 2: But it's not gonna be one. It's not gonna be
- 56:27Speaker 2: you know, Listen, you can turn it around very quickly.
- 56:29Speaker 2: The command just showed that you got to you gotta
- 56:32Speaker 2: be perfect almost to do that. But in two years yeah,
- 56:36Speaker 2: hell yeah, well hell yeah.
- 56:38Speaker 3: And there's things like you know, the left tackle for
- 56:40Speaker 3: the for Washington that they drafted this year, you know,
- 56:42Speaker 3: and he worked out Like sometimes it happens that way
- 56:45Speaker 3: that guys you don't necessarily expect to all of a
- 56:48Speaker 3: sudden as send to a level where they're maybe competent
- 56:50Speaker 3: or better. I think we're a little bit skewed the
- 56:52Speaker 3: last couple of years because the opposite has happened. You've
- 56:54Speaker 3: seen guys that you believe in that are playing under
- 56:57Speaker 3: what you think that they're capable of doing. So if
- 56:59Speaker 3: you get the program going and guys are buying in
- 57:01Speaker 3: and then they're you know, the rising tide raises all
- 57:03Speaker 3: ships that you know, guys you don't expect can be
- 57:06Speaker 3: competent and part of a way you get good coaching.
- 57:09Speaker 2: Yeah, they can't underestimate that.
- 57:11Speaker 6: But they should be contending. I'm not saying in the playoffs,
- 57:14Speaker 6: but they should be contending for the postseason next year.
- 57:17Speaker 2: Yeah, they should.
- 57:18Speaker 6: Be a team that is playing, you know, real football
- 57:21Speaker 6: games in December next year.
- 57:23Speaker 3: I don't know how you watched the games last weekend,
- 57:25Speaker 3: not this weekend, but last weekend and not think that
- 57:27Speaker 3: they're like, you know, like these teams are okay, the
- 57:28Speaker 3: six to seventh seeds, like five six that they're good.
- 57:31Speaker 4: I'll tell you after the offseason. I'm not dismissing that
- 57:34Speaker 4: as out of hand, but I you know, like if
- 57:36Speaker 4: you would told me that last year at this time,
- 57:38Speaker 4: I would have said, yeah, I could see it, but
- 57:40Speaker 4: not after the off season that they have Well.
- 57:41Speaker 6: Yeah, but I'm saying that that's that should be the expectation,
- 57:44Speaker 6: like the expectations should be that they should have a
- 57:46Speaker 6: good offseason and that they should be building towards again
- 57:50Speaker 6: playing meaningful football late in the season. I'm not saying
- 57:53Speaker 6: they're going to make the playoffs or win playoff games
- 57:55Speaker 6: or whatever. But if they're not playing meaningful football in
- 57:59Speaker 6: December and January of next year, then something went wrong.
- 58:02Speaker 2: William's back William and fellon what's up? I give you
- 58:07Speaker 2: another try and you're not there again?
- 58:10Speaker 4: Wow, He's gonna be really mad.
- 58:11Speaker 2: Yeah, Jackson's in West Virginia. Hey Jackson, you know it's.
- 58:17Speaker 6: I got a question.
- 58:17Speaker 13: I think it leans towards the Evans side here as
- 58:23Speaker 13: we get into the draft talk free agency talk. When
- 58:26Speaker 13: you talk about wide receivers, can can you explain a
- 58:30Speaker 13: bit like the difference between X and Z and I
- 58:33Speaker 13: don't you call why the slot, just the difference between
- 58:37Speaker 13: those positions, what they actually are, and what we're kind
- 58:39Speaker 13: of looking for in those positions, and maybe even who
- 58:42Speaker 13: we have on the team.
- 58:43Speaker 2: And then okay, quick, quick primer on the wide receiver
- 58:46Speaker 2: letter system.
- 58:47Speaker 3: I could do it too.
- 58:48Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, it's not bad, I know.
- 58:51Speaker 6: I mean the X receiver is.
- 58:53Speaker 3: Just your your.
- 58:55Speaker 6: Backside boundary receiver, right, So he's the guy that's gonna
- 58:58Speaker 6: line up on the outside, opposite the side of the
- 59:00Speaker 6: tight end, and he's gonna play the boundary you'r Z
- 59:03Speaker 6: receiver or your flanker as some other people have called
- 59:07Speaker 6: it is more of like a chess piece, right, He's
- 59:09Speaker 6: the guy that's gonna move inside outside play off the
- 59:12Speaker 6: line of scrimmage so that you can move him around
- 59:14Speaker 6: a little bit more. And then the slots, you know,
- 59:16Speaker 6: obviously the slot so that that's those are the three positions,
- 59:20Speaker 6: and what type of receiver that is varies like it
- 59:24Speaker 6: usually you think of an X receiver as you know,
- 59:26Speaker 6: I think the prototypical X receiver that everybody always thinks
- 59:29Speaker 6: of as like Calvin Johnson, right, like he's you know,
- 59:32Speaker 6: the six foot four down the field threat outside guy.
- 59:36Speaker 6: But really what you're looking for is a guy that
- 59:38Speaker 6: can win one on one, you know, just somebody that's
- 59:41Speaker 6: gonna see a lot of press coverage, a lot of
- 59:43Speaker 6: man to man backside. Can he win a one on
- 59:46Speaker 6: one consistently or tilt coverage in his direction because he's
- 59:50Speaker 6: so darn good that they have to account for him.
- 59:53Speaker 6: Z Receivers are a lot more about versatility, I would say,
- 59:56Speaker 6: and winning at the first and second level. Your chain
- 59:59Speaker 6: mover of your offense, but it varies, so you can
- 1:00:02Speaker 6: you know that can change based off of skill sets.
- 1:00:05Speaker 6: You know, Tyreek Hill plays a lot of X in Miami.
- 1:00:08Speaker 6: He's not built like Megatron, you know, So it really
- 1:00:10Speaker 6: just depends on what you want in terms of your offense.
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: Yep uh. And then you have the h back. Let's
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: see Jeffrey in Canada. We all got to see the
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: best teams and the best players this weekend. The draft
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: strategy at four is simple. Draft a good player who
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: was good and productive player in college. Example, Jamair Gibbs
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: not saying we should draft a running back, but kudos
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: to the Lions for ignoring draft experts and saying we
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: want this guy. We don't care if he's a running back.
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: To me, he's the most explosive player in the league
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: right now. So if Abdul Carter is the best player,
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: take them. Just get good players, and good coaches can
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: use the good players to win games.
- 1:00:51Speaker 6: So the pushback on Jamiir Gibbs though, is the Lions
- 1:00:54Speaker 6: were already basically a finished product, So Jamir Gibbs was
- 1:00:58Speaker 6: a luxury pick. Like they have had the luxury to
- 1:01:01Speaker 6: go out and pick a guy at a non premium
- 1:01:03Speaker 6: position like Jamir Gibbs that early in the draft. You know,
- 1:01:06Speaker 6: ask the Carolina Panthers with Christian McCaffrey, like how that went?
- 1:01:11Speaker 6: Or the Falcons would be John Robinson, or the Giants
- 1:01:14Speaker 6: with Sakuon Barkley, Like that's what you don't want to
- 1:01:16Speaker 6: do with the running back position. When you're the Lions
- 1:01:19Speaker 6: and you already have an offensive line, and you already
- 1:01:21Speaker 6: have Penny Sewel, and you already have all these other pieces,
- 1:01:24Speaker 6: you can take a guy like Jamiir Gibbs. The Patriots
- 1:01:26Speaker 6: took Sony Michelle right, like that you can.
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: Do about the Giants taking Barkley. Yeah, I did just
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: say that, Oh did you?
- 1:01:37Speaker 6: And how did that go?
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: I like the point though, because I think you watched
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: all these teams this weekend, wat.
- 1:01:46Speaker 6: We all do it.
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: They all stack so many good drafts. You just look
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: at like you remember these guys and how they've been
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: building for a while, and you know, eventually Penny Sool,
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: Like you remember them drafted him a few years ago.
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: They were building pieces putting him in place. They ascend
- 1:01:59Speaker 3: it to a higher level and then you get to
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: that point finally where you can take luxury picks. But
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: I think all those teams just represent a little bit
- 1:02:06Speaker 3: of they've been stacking drafts for a while now, and
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: that's something the Patriots happened to you.
- 1:02:09Speaker 6: Yeah, the Lions are just they had that draft that
- 1:02:11Speaker 6: it was Gibbs, it was Jack Campbell, it was Brian
- 1:02:14Speaker 6: Branch And it's like all these positions playing and playing
- 1:02:18Speaker 6: that that are that people will say it, you know,
- 1:02:21Speaker 6: in the draft knicks faces because they weren't there Campbell
- 1:02:26Speaker 6: the premium position players, right, But they already had Aiden Hutchinson,
- 1:02:30Speaker 6: they already had Penny Sewel, they already had Jared Goff,
- 1:02:32Speaker 6: like they already had a Monroe, Saint Brown, j Williams. Right,
- 1:02:36Speaker 6: So they were just like drafting guys to supplement what
- 1:02:40Speaker 6: they had already had. When you're the team like the Patriots.
- 1:02:43Speaker 6: The Patriots need Aiden Hutchinson, they don't need Jack Campbell,
- 1:02:46Speaker 6: you know. And that's like I think the situation.
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: That I think they need both they could use Jack
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: Campbell too, right.
- 1:02:52Speaker 4: But Evan's point is individually, those guys aren't going to
- 1:02:56Speaker 4: make a difference on this team. Like they could have
- 1:02:58Speaker 4: taken Jamier Gibbs. The twenty twenty four Patriots with Jamiir
- 1:03:03Speaker 4: Gibbs playing would have been four and thirteen. Yeah, Like,
- 1:03:06Speaker 4: it's not just getting it right right, getting getting a
- 1:03:10Speaker 4: lot of players right. That's what Mike's point about stacking drafts.
- 1:03:14Speaker 4: It's the only way out of this mess is they
- 1:03:16Speaker 4: got to start drafting better.
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: Yep, Ford and Savannah, says Paul exclamation point, Ford, don't
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: pooh pooh starting a game management school. If the coaching
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: decisions this year have taught us anything it's that they
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: could greatly use your services. Matt Eberflus could still have
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: a job, The Falcons could be in the playoffs, et cetera.
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: There you go.
- 1:03:38Speaker 3: What about like the high school level? You watch high
- 1:03:39Speaker 3: school games where it's admittedly much less polished and professional,
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: Like I imagine high school coaches screw it up a
- 1:03:46Speaker 3: lot when you're watching those games.
- 1:03:48Speaker 4: Yeah, but it's different. I mean that's like it's more execution,
- 1:03:52Speaker 4: Like it's more like you can only do so much with.
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: The decisions are easier. Give it to our best athlete right.
- 1:03:59Speaker 4: With the talent that you have available, it's hard to
- 1:04:01Speaker 4: just say, like he's gotta get out of bounds there,
- 1:04:03Speaker 4: you know what I mean?
- 1:04:04Speaker 3: Like you know, like most parents are yelling at stupid stuff,
- 1:04:06Speaker 3: and you're.
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: Yelling, why could you use the time out there?
- 1:04:09Speaker 4: Like you know, accentuate the left guard? Can we can? We?
- 1:04:13Speaker 6: High school offenses, though, are impressive, Like some of these
- 1:04:15Speaker 6: offenses are are really sophisticated offenses that are doing some
- 1:04:20Speaker 6: stuff that trickles up.
- 1:04:21Speaker 4: Honestly, you'd like our offense to be honest.
- 1:04:23Speaker 6: Now, there's a lot of offenses that are doing a
- 1:04:25Speaker 6: lot of a lot of motion, a lot of a
- 1:04:28Speaker 6: lot of stuff, you know, that are now the college
- 1:04:31Speaker 6: game in the NFL game are picking up.
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: On David Wright saying, well, it took you guys long
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: enough to come around, but I'm glad you finally did.
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: The NFL is rigged in favor of the Kansas City Swifts.
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: If I have to look at her face after every
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: completed pass during the Super Bowl, I think I'll just
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: record it and watch the commercials the next day. Taylor
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: Swift is the worst thing to happen to the NFL
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: since CTE. Oh come on, it's Fred. You are normally
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: my favorite character. But your thought process for rooting for
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: the Chiefs over the bill, this is the mark of
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: a true psychopath.
- 1:05:04Speaker 4: I actually like Taylor Swift, no problem.
- 1:05:08Speaker 6: I have no problem with it. But if you don't
- 1:05:10Speaker 6: think that it impacts a little.
- 1:05:11Speaker 4: Bit, oh, I don't think it impacts the game at all.
- 1:05:14Speaker 6: Yeah, but through the roof every single I.
- 1:05:17Speaker 4: Think it's kind of funny that she that like she's there,
- 1:05:21Speaker 4: she gets it, like she clearly has no clue and
- 1:05:24Speaker 4: you know her. And Caitlyn Clark.
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: Says that Caitlyn was a little uncomfortable, like she was listening.
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: It's like, yeah, she didn't know whether it like to
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: like be smiling, and she's a botherer. She seemed a
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: little uncomfortable.
- 1:05:37Speaker 4: There, and she got mad because she's actually a chief Span.
- 1:05:41Speaker 4: She grew up a Chiefs fan. She grew up in Iowa. Yeah, like,
- 1:05:43Speaker 4: and that's her team. And I think people were like, oh,
- 1:05:45Speaker 4: now she's just riding the coach.
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: They say, poor Caitlyn.
- 1:05:50Speaker 4: Caitlyn Clark, Alex writes, everybody agrees because.
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: No one's watching.
- 1:05:55Speaker 4: Alex and Brawley.
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: I'm with Evan. I can't watch another Chiefs Eagle Super Bowl.
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: My dad is a Commanders fan, so I'll be ruining
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: for them. But I would be okay with Josh Allen
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: winning because he's a great quarterback. The Chiefs are good,
- 1:06:07Speaker 2: and I understand why people were frustrated with the Patriots
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: with the Patriots won when they won, I guess he
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: spelled it ow ay. There is a big difference though,
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: is that Brady wasn't adding as much theatrics as Mahomes
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: to get the calls. It's a bad look. He's a
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: great quarterback, just poor taste to do that.
- 1:06:25Speaker 4: It's a very bad look on Saturday. But Brady did
- 1:06:29Speaker 4: it all the time I listen.
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: I didn't think it was any problem with that. So
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: I'm not going to complain about Mahomes.
- 1:06:35Speaker 4: Oh I'll complain about it.
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: I know you will. If you complain about.
- 1:06:39Speaker 6: It, then that's not my issue with the Chiefs. I
- 1:06:41Speaker 6: just when you like, just watch them, I test wise,
- 1:06:45Speaker 6: they just seems like there's other teams that are better,
- 1:06:48Speaker 6: and it's frustrating to me that then we get into
- 1:06:50Speaker 6: the games and they're just finding these quirky ways, but.
- 1:06:54Speaker 4: Frustrate you when the other teams seemingly were better than
- 1:06:57Speaker 4: the Patriots. But as Fred said, the Patriots made them
- 1:07:00Speaker 4: play there less than their best.
- 1:07:01Speaker 6: I mean, but because they question were these other teams
- 1:07:05Speaker 6: really better than the Patriots, like really truly better?
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: Well they weren't, but that's the point they like you
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: want to read that.
- 1:07:12Speaker 3: According to Albert Brier, the Patriots interviewed Vikings assistant and
- 1:07:15Speaker 3: it's gone.
- 1:07:16Speaker 6: Yeah, so this guy's like twenty eight and he's like Ozinski. Yeah,
- 1:07:21Speaker 6: and apparently he is very, very sought after and people
- 1:07:26Speaker 6: think extremely high of him. But he's very young. He's like,
- 1:07:29Speaker 6: I think he's twenty eight years old and would be
- 1:07:31Speaker 6: the youngest coordinator maybe in the history of the NFL.
- 1:07:34Speaker 6: If I'm tired as a coordinator, and I think he's
- 1:07:36Speaker 6: going to wow.
- 1:07:38Speaker 4: Just like as a point of confundate, you're just like,
- 1:07:40Speaker 4: you know, in twenty eighteen, I think a lot of
- 1:07:42Speaker 4: people would have thought the Chiefs are probably the better
- 1:07:44Speaker 4: team here, but the Patriots are going to find a
- 1:07:47Speaker 4: way to get that call when the game's on the
- 1:07:49Speaker 4: line and they win the game. It's the same thing
- 1:07:52Speaker 4: you're talking about now.
- 1:07:53Speaker 6: I agree with that in comparison to an extent, but
- 1:07:57Speaker 6: the Patriots are also at a much different point of
- 1:07:59Speaker 6: the dynasty at that point, Like this is supposed.
- 1:08:01Speaker 4: To be, well, this is a reset for Kansas City.
- 1:08:03Speaker 6: But they're supposed to be like Mahomes is in his prime.
- 1:08:06Speaker 4: Yeah, but everybody else is like all that. The rest
- 1:08:09Speaker 4: of the guys are certainly not in their prime, and
- 1:08:11Speaker 4: they don't have the offense that they've had in the past.
- 1:08:14Speaker 4: I think it's kind of similar to the eighteen team
- 1:08:16Speaker 4: that they didn't have that power offense.
- 1:08:18Speaker 6: There's a lot of similarities. I just don't think that
- 1:08:21Speaker 6: Mahomes and Brady are at all in a similar spot.
- 1:08:23Speaker 6: So like, you know, like that offense should be a
- 1:08:26Speaker 6: lot better than a lot of.
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: People were calling that game the passing of the Torch.
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: That was where Kansas City finally, you know, and and
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: Brady wouldn't allow for that.
- 1:08:34Speaker 4: But I mean, even like some of the some of
- 1:08:37Speaker 4: the early Colts games that when the games were in Indianapolis,
- 1:08:40Speaker 4: they would shootouts, and the games were here in the weather,
- 1:08:43Speaker 4: they weren't yeah, you know, and like the Patriots found
- 1:08:46Speaker 4: a way to you know, just do just enough and
- 1:08:50Speaker 4: they they would have it here. But I think a
- 1:08:51Speaker 4: lot of people thought that the Colts were at least
- 1:08:54Speaker 4: they were equal, if not better. Now in three, I
- 1:08:56Speaker 4: think they.
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: Were, and they were season Patriots playoffs four, I.
- 1:09:00Speaker 4: Don't well, I mean manning Bee the Patriots more often
- 1:09:03Speaker 4: than not in the play six didn't count. Yeah it
- 1:09:05Speaker 4: neither did the flu It neither did thirteen and fifteen
- 1:09:08Speaker 4: I guess had Rodney Harris. Yeah, they didn't count either
- 1:09:11Speaker 4: Rodanney Harrish or that was or six? Valentin from swim
- 1:09:16Speaker 4: thirteen and fifteen.
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't remember what happened, Paul. All
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: I know. All I know is they lost.
- 1:09:24Speaker 4: I remember what happened, barely throw the ball and remember it.
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: All injuries. All that fifteen was terrible.
- 1:09:31Speaker 4: Yeah, there's there's a lot of a lot of injuries. Yeah,
- 1:09:33Speaker 4: a lot of injuries.
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: Valentin writes in Lamar is a great player. But this
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: year the Ravens were three and six counting Sunday when
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: Henry doesn't run for one hundred yards. The Ravens were
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: going as far as Henry would take them. In my opinion,
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: the reason the Ravens lost this game is because Lamar
- 1:09:47Speaker 2: made crucial mistakes and Allan didn't make any correlation causation.
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: There you go, math. I know it's difficult. I think
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: Henry hurt Lamar for the MVP. That's why I voted
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: for Josh Allen.
- 1:10:00Speaker 4: You had a vote, Yeah, okay, yeah. I would say
- 1:10:05Speaker 4: if Derek Henry got thirteen more yards, they don't win
- 1:10:08Speaker 4: because Mark Andrews dropped a two point conversion.
- 1:10:11Speaker 6: They're very good when Derek Henry runs for more than
- 1:10:13Speaker 6: one hundred yards because they're winning the game. Right, So
- 1:10:16Speaker 6: Derek Henry.
- 1:10:17Speaker 4: Said thirteen more yards wouldn't have been the difference in
- 1:10:19Speaker 4: the game. I don't know. If Mark Andrews doesn't fumble
- 1:10:25Speaker 4: and he doesn't drop a pass, I think we're looking
- 1:10:28Speaker 4: at an entirely different game, right. But you know, as
- 1:10:31Speaker 4: I like to say, if my aunt had balls, you'd
- 1:10:33Speaker 4: beat my uncle.
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: John writes in referees have been horrible this year, and
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: I think it has to do with the ticki tack calls.
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: Every time they make a ticki tack call and then
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: miss an obvious call, it makes the fans feel like
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: they're being cheated. Calls have always been missed, but there
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: seem to have been more TICKI tack stuff this year.
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: Also draft to tackle with our first pick, not because
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: it's safe, but because they are harder to find. Right now,
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: there are starting wide receiver one options in free agency.
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: I'm not so sure about starting tackles option.
- 1:11:06Speaker 4: And some people don't even think he's a one.
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:11:08Speaker 4: T Higgins is. To me, he's a one, But some
- 1:11:12Speaker 4: people don't think he's a one. They think he wouldn't
- 1:11:14Speaker 4: be anywhere near what he is without Jamar Chase.
- 1:11:17Speaker 3: No, I just you got to take the best available player,
- 1:11:20Speaker 3: regardless of need, especially a four.
- 1:11:22Speaker 4: I mean to reach on a guy myself into Abdul Carter.
- 1:11:26Speaker 6: Yeah, talk yourself into it.
- 1:11:27Speaker 4: No, I mean being the guy won at four. Yeah.
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: Oh, I'm trying not to count the table guy.
- 1:11:32Speaker 4: I'm not. I don't have a table to pound, but
- 1:11:35Speaker 4: we used to have a table. Now now we have this.
- 1:11:39Speaker 6: Yeah. I mean I've been thereund the coffee turtle for
- 1:11:42Speaker 6: for a little while. Now I feel like since that
- 1:11:46Speaker 6: what conference is he in again? Big Ten Championship Game,
- 1:11:49Speaker 6: the seventeen million conferences?
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: Uh?
- 1:11:51Speaker 6: Yeah, he's to me, is the best player they could
- 1:11:54Speaker 6: probably get at that spot. I just don't now it's
- 1:11:57Speaker 6: a that's stupid conversation to whether or not he's going
- 1:11:59Speaker 6: to be there.
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: No, that's really but you know, you complain about the
- 1:12:02Speaker 2: defense and the regression that it had. If you want
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: to play complimentary football, you got to get a rush.
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: You got to get some type of pressure up front, right,
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: and especially as a pass rusher.
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: I mean, that's that's what you need. That's one of
- 1:12:15Speaker 3: the big five positions. And to say that, well, we'll
- 1:12:18Speaker 3: just get by next year. You know, a couple of
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: you know, group efforts.
- 1:12:21Speaker 4: Big five positions were guard, guard, long snap guard, gunner, gunner, yeah,
- 1:12:29Speaker 4: vice vice guy, quarterback, quarterback, quarterback, I think the nose
- 1:12:33Speaker 4: tackle quarterback.
- 1:12:34Speaker 6: But I think this was in his those Browns notes
- 1:12:37Speaker 6: that go around this every year in the off season.
- 1:12:40Speaker 4: Bill's Big Five. Mike says, I was being a sarcastic jerk.
- 1:12:45Speaker 3: But how do you not watch like Jalen Carter and
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: not think like, yeah, we don't need a super disruptive
- 1:12:50Speaker 3: guy in the front seven who's going to impact the game.
- 1:12:53Speaker 3: Almost so you have to find guys that scored the
- 1:12:55Speaker 3: touchdowns and prevent the touchdowns. And he used to talk
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: about the edge rushers in the corner on defense of
- 1:13:03Speaker 3: the two guys that are most important for preventing the touchdowns,
- 1:13:06Speaker 3: you know, and he had.
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: You know, but his thing about edge rushing and picking
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: guys that were exclusively pressure guys. He didn't like doing
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: that because he liked the versatility. But you had to
- 1:13:18Speaker 2: be like that elite.
- 1:13:19Speaker 4: Yeah, for him, you had to be six four and
- 1:13:21Speaker 4: running four to six. But that's why eliminated your pool,
- 1:13:24Speaker 4: right Draatically.
- 1:13:25Speaker 3: That's why Abdul Carter's appealing is that he's a move
- 1:13:28Speaker 3: it around exposed different matchups. I mean, you can do
- 1:13:31Speaker 3: a bunch of stuff with him. He's played off the
- 1:13:32Speaker 3: ball a little bit. I mean you just look at him.
- 1:13:35Speaker 3: He's he's electric. I mean, he just has that like
- 1:13:37Speaker 3: energy about him that you see. I know it's you know,
- 1:13:39Speaker 3: he's not Michael Parsons, but you see the same kind
- 1:13:42Speaker 3: of just energy that he exerts on every play. It's
- 1:13:45Speaker 3: it's i mean, it's exciting.
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: Better than Chandler Jones.
- 1:13:47Speaker 6: Yeah, Chandler.
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:13:50Speaker 6: It's really intriguing to give him to Mike rabele To
- 1:13:52Speaker 6: as a former pass rusher himself, and like allow him
- 1:13:55Speaker 6: to because he's only played one year of edge. He
- 1:13:58Speaker 6: played off ball linebacker for Penn State before that, so
- 1:14:01Speaker 6: he's still pretty new to that position. So just the
- 1:14:04Speaker 6: idea of, you know, giving him to a coach like
- 1:14:06Speaker 6: Rabel that can help him kind of get to that
- 1:14:09Speaker 6: next step with his technique and things like that is
- 1:14:11Speaker 6: really enticing. And then he's also already doing this with
- 1:14:15Speaker 6: really not a lot of experience of that position.
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: I was just to say, your thing, because you have
- 1:14:18Speaker 3: some contacts at Penn State. Also spoke highly of his.
- 1:14:20Speaker 4: Character, correct, Yeah, yeah, I was just like a player.
- 1:14:22Speaker 4: A fellow player just thinks the world of him from
- 1:14:26Speaker 4: a character standpoint and a desire standpoint, had a lot
- 1:14:29Speaker 4: of really nice things to say about him. We had
- 1:14:32Speaker 4: a thing last week that I wanted to get back
- 1:14:35Speaker 4: to because a lot of people I had a lot
- 1:14:37Speaker 4: of feedback on Twitter. Someone had written in about all
- 1:14:40Speaker 4: the guys they let go, Yeah grown guys. Yeah, you know,
- 1:14:44Speaker 4: they got to stop letting all the homegrown guys go.
- 1:14:46Speaker 4: And well I wanted to push back a little bit
- 1:14:49Speaker 4: because I had said, you know, I don't think there
- 1:14:51Speaker 4: were that many of them, and people like started bombarding
- 1:14:54Speaker 4: me with all these examples. I guess I should have
- 1:14:57Speaker 4: been a little bit more clear. I meant like currently
- 1:15:00Speaker 4: like Joe Tooney, to a lesser extent, Shack Mason. I
- 1:15:04Speaker 4: would say those guys count, but I had, you know,
- 1:15:08Speaker 4: Chandler Jones. It was ten years ago.
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: He had homegrown stuff.
- 1:15:11Speaker 4: And I'm not even talking about like whether or not
- 1:15:13Speaker 4: they were that they were you know, Richard Seymour, Logan Mankins,
- 1:15:17Speaker 4: you know, you know, Chandler Jones. Somebody wrote Mike Haynes,
- 1:15:21Speaker 4: which which I actually said, well done, sir. That was funny,
- 1:15:25Speaker 4: you know, Like I wasn't necessarily talking ever, Yeah, I
- 1:15:28Speaker 4: just meant like in this sort of currency and these
- 1:15:32Speaker 4: you know, and and I do think there were there
- 1:15:35Speaker 4: was probably more than I've given credit for. I mean,
- 1:15:37Speaker 4: I think certainly Tony stands at the top of the list,
- 1:15:40Speaker 4: but Shaq Mason to Teddy Carris. Teddy Carris is a
- 1:15:45Speaker 4: guy that they could have held on to. I mean,
- 1:15:47Speaker 4: you certainly wouldn't need all three of those guys, but
- 1:15:50Speaker 4: you know, some combination.
- 1:15:51Speaker 6: Now, well, there are types of players.
- 1:15:54Speaker 4: I just brought him now personally, but that's.
- 1:15:57Speaker 6: I don't think you do. Like I think those are
- 1:15:58Speaker 6: the types of players that He's not a needle mover,
- 1:16:01Speaker 6: but he's a solid NFL starting caliber guard and I
- 1:16:04Speaker 6: don't think they have two of those right now. So
- 1:16:06Speaker 6: you know, you have those types of players. I think
- 1:16:08Speaker 6: that's what Washington is doing. Like Washington didn't go out
- 1:16:11Speaker 6: in free agency and make these splash signings. They sign
- 1:16:15Speaker 6: guys like Ted Carriss who are just solid, well rounded
- 1:16:19Speaker 6: guys that came into that team and made their their
- 1:16:22Speaker 6: floor higher.
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:16:24Speaker 6: It's yeah, I.
- 1:16:25Speaker 4: Just wanted like just because I had a lot of
- 1:16:27Speaker 4: people and no one was really like, you know, like
- 1:16:30Speaker 4: snapping at me, right. They just would give me a
- 1:16:31Speaker 4: lot of examples. I saw that, and I was just like,
- 1:16:34Speaker 4: this isn't really what I was talking about, Like you know,
- 1:16:36Speaker 4: in in nineteen ninety seven, letting a guy go, you know,
- 1:16:40Speaker 4: Curtis by Knes.
- 1:16:41Speaker 3: We'll just go back like eight years, right, like two
- 1:16:43Speaker 3: draft cycles pretty much, I means.
- 1:16:44Speaker 4: And I'm just talking about more, you know, like this
- 1:16:47Speaker 4: current regime, and certainly those those three offensive linemen would count,
- 1:16:51Speaker 4: you know there, and there have been others that they've
- 1:16:53Speaker 4: they've like someone put j. C. Jackson on the list.
- 1:16:55Speaker 4: I'm like, sorry, j C. Jackson's not a guy that
- 1:16:58Speaker 4: they should have been clamoring to re sign. I didn't.
- 1:17:02Speaker 4: I just don't feel like it was as big an
- 1:17:04Speaker 4: issue as as others, but there were. I mean, I
- 1:17:07Speaker 4: like those kinds of things that you get the feedback
- 1:17:10Speaker 4: from and you like it because you're pause to think, Sure.
- 1:17:13Speaker 2: All right, we'll take a break. My food's here when
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: we come back. More calls and emails here on Patriots
- 1:17:19Speaker 2: on filtered.

- 1:18:24Speaker 15: probably won't be, but you're here.
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: You're here to save us, like the entire region. Like
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: are you aware?
- 1:18:32Speaker 5: Yeah? I think we're all aware of what? Okay? What are.
- 1:18:36Speaker 2: We have high expectations and so do I.
- 1:18:38Speaker 5: Yours aren't higher than mine.
- 1:18:40Speaker 16: I I just on that note, like, you are a
- 1:18:43Speaker 16: guy obviously the Jets. I'm you were rumored with every
- 1:18:46Speaker 16: opening that you were going to potentially have an opportunity
- 1:18:49Speaker 16: to coach in the NFL for several teams. If you
- 1:18:51Speaker 16: could dial it, you know, to signify one thing why
- 1:18:55Speaker 16: you chose to come back and coach this Patriots team?
- 1:18:58Speaker 5: What would it be?
- 1:18:59Speaker 17: Well, I don't think there is just one, but I
- 1:19:01Speaker 17: just like I said, it just it's it's the right time,
- 1:19:05Speaker 17: it's the right place, with the right people.
- 1:19:09Speaker 15: Were you this team? WIGGI brought up money. This team
- 1:19:12Speaker 15: has over one hundred and thirty million dollars available salary
- 1:19:15Speaker 15: cap wise.
- 1:19:15Speaker 5: He's always talking about money.
- 1:19:18Speaker 2: That's what happens, he will make a lot when you play.
- 1:19:21Speaker 15: I think that you know from the outside one K,
- 1:19:24Speaker 15: I gotta wait till sixty five.
- 1:19:27Speaker 18: If you need a tight end, you sixty five?
- 1:19:30Speaker 2: Yeah, failing.
- 1:19:31Speaker 15: If you're hiring Wiggy, you missed this probably, but Wiggy did.
- 1:19:35Speaker 15: Was the head coach of the Brockton football team for
- 1:19:38Speaker 15: one year, trying.
- 1:19:38Speaker 5: To get back to the kids.
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: Just one season.
- 1:19:40Speaker 15: The boxes, Yeah, the boxes, the boxes, just one year.
- 1:19:44Speaker 15: But if you're hiring yeah, I mean, but were you
- 1:19:49Speaker 15: able to in your discussions with.
- 1:19:51Speaker 5: Only for option routes? You doing you ain't coaching blocking?
- 1:19:54Speaker 5: I mean he really blocks. Now withdys Let's be honest,
- 1:19:57Speaker 5: what tight end?
- 1:19:59Speaker 15: Where were you able to get assurances from Robert during
- 1:20:03Speaker 15: your discussions when considering this job, that that you are
- 1:20:07Speaker 15: going to be able to spend that money.
- 1:20:08Speaker 17: Yeah, I'm comfortable that you know that Elliot and I
- 1:20:11Speaker 17: are going to be able to find ways to add
- 1:20:14Speaker 17: productive players, great people, uh to this football team. And
- 1:20:18Speaker 17: that's through the draft, that's through free agency. So I'm
- 1:20:22Speaker 17: confident that we'll be able to have the resources that
- 1:20:25Speaker 17: we need to to go sign players within within a limit.
- 1:20:28Speaker 17: And we understand that free agency isn't the only answer.
- 1:20:32Speaker 17: It's not one hundred percent, as you all know. But
- 1:20:36Speaker 17: it's about adding the right players and that we feel
- 1:20:39Speaker 17: like can help the team and that we're we're comfortable
- 1:20:42Speaker 17: with And sometimes if you don't know them, you also
- 1:20:45Speaker 17: don't know what you're going to get.
- 1:20:46Speaker 2: Is this still a destination when it comes to free agents?
- 1:20:50Speaker 5: Well, I mean I think that we have to. We
- 1:20:53Speaker 5: have to make it a destination.
- 1:20:55Speaker 17: And again, I'll tell you a story about free agency
- 1:20:57Speaker 17: when I got to.
- 1:21:00Speaker 5: When I got to Houston, they had natural.
- 1:21:02Speaker 17: Grass in the their dome and they would wheel it
- 1:21:05Speaker 17: out and they'd cut it into sections, and I'm like,
- 1:21:07Speaker 17: this is unique, Like what's this And they are like, well,
- 1:21:10Speaker 17: you know, we thought that they would the free agents
- 1:21:12Speaker 17: would want to play on natural grass. They said, the
- 1:21:14Speaker 17: only thing free agents care about is green and.
- 1:21:16Speaker 5: It's not naturally. So there's two forms of free agency.
- 1:21:22Speaker 17: It's the one is trying to go out and maximize
- 1:21:25Speaker 17: your earning potential and go for the top dollar. And
- 1:21:29Speaker 17: we see that early on in free agency, the first
- 1:21:31Speaker 17: couple of days, that maybe the first week. Then after
- 1:21:34Speaker 17: that I try to tell players it comes down to
- 1:21:36Speaker 17: opportunity and what's you know, if you'd want the best
- 1:21:41Speaker 17: opportunity to go and be able to produce and contribute,
- 1:21:44Speaker 17: and then that's going to lead to then the next,
- 1:21:46Speaker 17: you know, form of free agency where then you can
- 1:21:48Speaker 17: take advantage of the system in a year or two
- 1:21:50Speaker 17: or whatever, you sign with us. So you know, I
- 1:21:53Speaker 17: was one of those players that are coming from Pittsburgh
- 1:21:56Speaker 17: and sign in here.
- 1:21:57Speaker 5: It was about the opportunity.
- 1:21:59Speaker 17: It wasn't about the dollars that turned into being able
- 1:22:03Speaker 17: to have those types of contracts as as my.
- 1:22:06Speaker 5: Career went on and a production increased and all those
- 1:22:08Speaker 5: other things.
- 1:22:08Speaker 17: So we're going to identify players at all different levels
- 1:22:12Speaker 17: and and it's a process putting it all together.
- 1:22:14Speaker 15: Maybe if you provide free books on the sidelines, you
- 1:22:18Speaker 15: might be able to get a certain wide receiver here.
- 1:22:20Speaker 5: We'll see.
- 1:22:21Speaker 2: But was he a big reader back when you guys
- 1:22:24Speaker 2: were together.
- 1:22:25Speaker 17: I think Aj is just trying to find ways to
- 1:22:28Speaker 17: I'm proud of his development, his personal development and working
- 1:22:31Speaker 17: on himself and working on controling his and getting back
- 1:22:35Speaker 17: to center. And again, he's a passionate player and I
- 1:22:38Speaker 17: love him to death and I have a very very
- 1:22:39Speaker 17: close relationship with him.
- 1:22:41Speaker 16: That book's like number one on bestsellers right now skyrocketed.
- 1:22:44Speaker 5: Yeah, good for him.
- 1:22:47Speaker 2: He wants the audio book.
- 1:22:48Speaker 5: Yeah, voracious reader, you're talking about our audio book. Bill.
- 1:22:56Speaker 2: We have a special guest on the line.
- 1:22:57Speaker 5: Oh we do.
- 1:22:58Speaker 16: Yeah, that Billy and the car that wanted to us.
- 1:23:01Speaker 2: In the car.
- 1:23:02Speaker 15: All right, well let's hire, let's go to them. Let's
- 1:23:04Speaker 15: let's go to Billy from Chestnut Hill.
- 1:23:06Speaker 10: Hey, Billy, the first time caller.
- 1:23:11Speaker 5: Longtime listener.
- 1:23:13Speaker 4: It is Bill O'Brien.
- 1:23:16Speaker 10: And pots let's go Patriots.
- 1:23:22Speaker 5: You got any players up there? Yeah, Billy, we find
- 1:23:25Speaker 5: any players.
- 1:23:27Speaker 10: Man, are you gonna Hey man, you gotta come come
- 1:23:29Speaker 10: to our pro day, come speak to our team. I
- 1:23:31Speaker 10: mean I've already put my DIBs in on that. So
- 1:23:34Speaker 10: uh now I'm I'm excited for Mike. I'm excited for
- 1:23:37Speaker 10: the Patriots, and uh it's gonna be awesome, no question.
- 1:23:40Speaker 5: No question.
- 1:23:42Speaker 17: They Boston College is in good hands. They have great
- 1:23:47Speaker 17: coaching staff, great leadership, got great facilities.
- 1:23:51Speaker 5: They redid the facilion a couple of years ago. It's unbelievable.
- 1:23:54Speaker 5: So Billy, I can't believe that.
- 1:23:56Speaker 17: Uh I get to see you know, I can tell
- 1:23:59Speaker 17: you some stories about working for.
- 1:24:01Speaker 5: Billy, Oh, so call him the teapot.
- 1:24:04Speaker 2: The teapot.
- 1:24:05Speaker 5: They'd go off, and then thirty seconds later he'd be like,
- 1:24:08Speaker 5: what what's wrong with you guys? Why are you looking
- 1:24:10Speaker 5: at it?
- 1:24:10Speaker 18: I'm like, Billy just cussed out every one of us
- 1:24:13Speaker 18: for thirty seconds, and now you're looking at us like
- 1:24:15Speaker 18: what's wrong? So the teapot would just boil over, and
- 1:24:18Speaker 18: then he was fine.
- 1:24:20Speaker 15: Would you when when he and Tom went at it?
- 1:24:23Speaker 15: Would you go over and calm him both down?
- 1:24:25Speaker 2: Oh?
- 1:24:26Speaker 18: He gave way to Tom like that was just Billy
- 1:24:28Speaker 18: trying to add tough on the TV.
- 1:24:34Speaker 15: Well he did, I gotta tell you, I'm sure I
- 1:24:36Speaker 15: don't know if he saw the press conference yesterday, but
- 1:24:38Speaker 15: he Mike said a lot of nice things about you,
- 1:24:40Speaker 15: and you lived up to the promise to turn him
- 1:24:44Speaker 15: into a head coach.
- 1:24:45Speaker 2: So something to be proud of, Bill.
- 1:24:49Speaker 10: No. I appreciated those comments. And you know, like I've
- 1:24:52Speaker 10: said several times this week that you know, Mike's a
- 1:24:58Speaker 10: great coach. He was a greatsssistant coach. He's been a
- 1:25:01Speaker 10: hell of a head coach and he's exactly what the
- 1:25:03Speaker 10: Patriots need. And uh, you know he'll come in there
- 1:25:06Speaker 10: and he'll treat every everybody in that building with great
- 1:25:09Speaker 10: respect and and and he'll be fair with every player,
- 1:25:12Speaker 10: but he'll demand a lot and the standard of of
- 1:25:15Speaker 10: how they practice and how they lift weights, and how
- 1:25:18Speaker 10: they run and how they condition and obviously how they
- 1:25:21Speaker 10: play games and how they execute. You know, it'll be
- 1:25:24Speaker 10: way up there, Sore. Everybody in the region is excited,
- 1:25:27Speaker 10: and uh, it's great for the Patriots and and uh,
- 1:25:31Speaker 10: you know, great for like.
- 1:25:32Speaker 15: Any advice for him on navigating the waters around here,
- 1:25:35Speaker 15: any uh, any area, any offices he should stay out.
- 1:25:39Speaker 5: Of, avoid bowling or probably the one I'm sitting in
- 1:25:43Speaker 5: right now, the media studio.
- 1:25:47Speaker 15: Yeah, this is the one to stay out. Unfortunate, unfortunately
- 1:25:50Speaker 15: you're contractually required. Oh you haven't read my co All right,
- 1:25:55Speaker 15: Bill O'Brien, we will. We'll talk to you again Thursday.
- 1:25:58Speaker 15: But great to hear from you.
- 1:25:59Speaker 5: You guys, you see.
- 1:26:02Speaker 6: And now great moments in.
- 1:26:07Speaker 5: History.
- 1:26:07Speaker 4: I know everybody around here says the You know, the
- 1:26:09Speaker 4: Celtics love to make it hard on themselves, and you
- 1:26:12Speaker 4: know they're doing it again and they're blown opportunity with
- 1:26:15Speaker 4: like nothing to do with the other team, like forcing
- 1:26:17Speaker 4: eighteen turnovers, it's the Celtics even.
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: That's what I was trying to tell you all these
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: years with the Patriots, when you would say the other
- 1:26:23Speaker 2: team's take, and I say, well, maybe the Patriots had
- 1:26:25Speaker 2: something to do with it. But now now you have
- 1:26:29Speaker 2: that take. Wait a minute, and I'm glad you've come around.
- 1:26:31Speaker 4: Wait a minute, and I agree with your take on
- 1:26:32Speaker 4: the Patriots. And I always have no in games like
- 1:26:35Speaker 4: you and Andy and.
- 1:26:36Speaker 2: Playoffs the Patriots.
- 1:26:38Speaker 4: You know you're making two different arguments.
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: The league does as happens.
- 1:26:42Speaker 4: The league does suck by and large and teams give
- 1:26:45Speaker 4: games away. But you can't tell me they won six
- 1:26:47Speaker 4: super Bowls because the other team sucked. No, that's stupid.
- 1:26:50Speaker 2: That's what you guys used to say.
- 1:26:52Speaker 4: Never once that I had Super Bowl the other team sucked, I.
- 1:26:55Speaker 2: Would I would give credit to the other team and
- 1:26:57Speaker 2: the Patriots having beaten that team. You would take away
- 1:27:00Speaker 2: from the Patriots by diminishing the other I would take
- 1:27:03Speaker 2: away again. Get it again.
- 1:27:04Speaker 4: When when they get dominated by like the Cleveland Browns
- 1:27:08Speaker 4: and lose because Cleveland gives the ball away seventeen times. Like,
- 1:27:11Speaker 4: that's different, right, because my Patriots had nothing to do.
- 1:27:13Speaker 4: But you don't beat the like the Steelers and the
- 1:27:15Speaker 4: Colts and the Rams, all because the other team sucks. Sorry, yeah,
- 1:27:19Speaker 4: the team doesn't suck.
- 1:27:20Speaker 2: No, but they would say, teams come to me. That's
- 1:27:22Speaker 2: what teams They just pooped themselves.
- 1:27:24Speaker 4: But I just don't know what to do well that
- 1:27:25Speaker 4: Celtics say. It's all about the Celtics sucking, not the
- 1:27:29Speaker 4: Golden State doing anything.
- 1:27:31Speaker 2: That I agree with. And I also agree with the
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: other way too.
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: That's another great moment from.
- 1:27:37Speaker 4: A great clip from Matt. Right there, Fred was on
- 1:27:42Speaker 4: theory right there.
- 1:27:43Speaker 2: I don't know what you're talking.
- 1:27:45Speaker 4: You were just telling them and those sometimes the Patriots
- 1:27:47Speaker 4: made teams play like that.
- 1:27:49Speaker 2: I just know what I said.
- 1:27:50Speaker 4: Then all of a sudden, it's like, oh, they just
- 1:27:52Speaker 4: po their pants. They didn't just poop their pants.
- 1:27:54Speaker 6: The Patriots are great.
- 1:27:56Speaker 2: I don't understand you say I had good teams forced
- 1:28:00Speaker 2: the other team into bad decisions. We were a good
- 1:28:03Speaker 2: team that forced other teams into bad decisions.
- 1:28:05Speaker 4: Decisions are bad play. Both the two different things. You
- 1:28:08Speaker 4: said something different. Oh, I don't care you like it.
- 1:28:12Speaker 2: When your job back when you were as good as
- 1:28:13Speaker 2: the Chiefs, or your good job at Patriots. Other teams
- 1:28:16Speaker 2: sometimes do things that they don't normally do because they
- 1:28:20Speaker 2: have more pressure.
- 1:28:21Speaker 4: They might make decisions that they don't know.
- 1:28:23Speaker 2: Whatever it is, decision or execution, doesn't matter.
- 1:28:26Speaker 4: Did make a decision to drop the ball on some No,
- 1:28:28Speaker 4: but he might have that nervous that has nothing to
- 1:28:31Speaker 4: do with the opponent.
- 1:28:33Speaker 2: You never know. You don't know what's in his head.
- 1:28:34Speaker 4: That's pooping yourself. He didn't do that because they were
- 1:28:36Speaker 4: Oh my god, we're in Buffalo. I'm gonna tie the
- 1:28:39Speaker 4: game in Buffalo.
- 1:28:41Speaker 2: It's called a chike crash exactly.
- 1:28:43Speaker 6: Tomatoes at the bus on the.
- 1:28:44Speaker 2: Way right, they're gonna you know what I'm talking about.
- 1:28:52Speaker 2: He's a ball knower, right, balls, no ball.
- 1:28:58Speaker 6: You had a basketball conversation without me.
- 1:29:00Speaker 2: That's pre I think that pre dated.
- 1:29:03Speaker 4: When Alex was Man's waining basketball to somebody upset about that.
- 1:29:07Speaker 2: A five five past five hundred is the tpx Hutline
- 1:29:10Speaker 2: podcast at Patriots dot com. Is the email address. Let's
- 1:29:14Speaker 2: get back to the phones. Uh, Brandy is in Providence.
- 1:29:18Speaker 2: Hey Brandy, Hey.
- 1:29:21Speaker 19: So I had called when you guys were talking about
- 1:29:23Speaker 19: the Lions and how to build a team through the draft,
- 1:29:25Speaker 19: and I uh was thinking you know, watching the Lions
- 1:29:28Speaker 19: and Commander's game, the Commander's kind of the antimthesis of
- 1:29:32Speaker 19: building up through the draft for five years, not one
- 1:29:34Speaker 19: first round pick still on the team. It kind of
- 1:29:37Speaker 19: showed to me the importance of having the quarterback because
- 1:29:40Speaker 19: Gosh clearly is not the guy. He wasn't the guy
- 1:29:42Speaker 19: in la that's he's not the guy in Detroit. But
- 1:29:46Speaker 19: Jaden Daniels might be the guy, and he kind of
- 1:29:50Speaker 19: overshadows five years of draft utility. Just absolutely with.
- 1:29:55Speaker 2: Okay, but you said, talk about first round picks, did
- 1:29:58Speaker 2: they have guys on the other rounds?
- 1:30:00Speaker 4: Lawrence contributed Lauren is one of the best players in
- 1:30:03Speaker 4: the league. Also the third round pick.
- 1:30:07Speaker 6: There are defensive linemen. We're all first round picks. Darron Payne. Uh,
- 1:30:11Speaker 6: there's the other Alabama kid that plays on the defensive line.
- 1:30:14Speaker 6: Those two guys are both first round picks.
- 1:30:16Speaker 4: Yeah, and it's kind of hard to say they don't
- 1:30:19Speaker 4: have any of their own first round picks when jad
- 1:30:20Speaker 4: and Daniels is, you know, as valuable as any player
- 1:30:23Speaker 4: in the league right now.
- 1:30:25Speaker 3: I think they had a good mix of free agents,
- 1:30:27Speaker 3: but I mean, I think you've got to be interested
- 1:30:28Speaker 3: to see next year how it builds. I mean, Jade
- 1:30:30Speaker 3: Daniel's being a rookie, he'll probably take a step forward
- 1:30:33Speaker 3: and you'll have your left tackle will probably develop. But
- 1:30:35Speaker 3: you know, are you still getting the same return on
- 1:30:37Speaker 3: Bobby Wager.
- 1:30:38Speaker 4: They need to address the offensive line because I don't
- 1:30:41Speaker 4: think it's very good and I don't think that kids
- 1:30:43Speaker 4: will left tackle. They've gotten by I think because of
- 1:30:45Speaker 4: jayde and Daniels Kingsbury.
- 1:30:48Speaker 6: Yeah, sounds like he's going to stay in Washington for
- 1:30:52Speaker 6: another year. I think he's kind of waiting for the
- 1:30:55Speaker 6: right opportunity to you know, second and final chance here.
- 1:30:58Speaker 4: Plus they're still alive, so it's hard for teams to
- 1:31:01Speaker 4: get at them.
- 1:31:02Speaker 2: Patty's in Patty, Hey, good afternoon, everyone, Hey, good afternoon.
- 1:31:10Speaker 12: So watching this Washington team this past week, I don't
- 1:31:12Speaker 12: know if any of you guys got this, and that
- 1:31:14Speaker 12: might be crazy, but I kind of I kind of
- 1:31:16Speaker 12: get two thousand and one Patriots vibes with them, not
- 1:31:19Speaker 12: in the style that they play, but just the fact that,
- 1:31:22Speaker 12: like you guys went over last week, like all the
- 1:31:25Speaker 12: roster turnover they had from last year to this. I
- 1:31:27Speaker 12: think Evan you said fourteen new starters young quarterback. You know,
- 1:31:32Speaker 12: when the playoffs started, they're like both of the pundits
- 1:31:35Speaker 12: are like, yeah, they're a nice story, and now they're
- 1:31:38Speaker 12: on the doorstep of the super Bowl. Just wanted to
- 1:31:40Speaker 12: get your guys input on that, and that's really.
- 1:31:42Speaker 20: All I got.
- 1:31:43Speaker 2: Yeah, nice, Patty.
- 1:31:46Speaker 4: I think we talked about we had their conversation last week.
- 1:31:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:31:49Speaker 4: Yeah, I think there's a lot of comparisons between the
- 1:31:52Speaker 4: two thousand and Patriots.
- 1:31:53Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:31:55Speaker 4: I wouldn't be surprised that Rabel, not because of Washington,
- 1:31:58Speaker 4: but Rabel looks at that kind of a pattern and says,
- 1:32:03Speaker 4: we need some of those kinds of guys, maybe not
- 1:32:05Speaker 4: twenty like the two thousand and.
- 1:32:07Speaker 3: One Patriots, but like a cultural kick in the.
- 1:32:09Speaker 4: Pit, half a half dozen Bobby Wagner type guys that
- 1:32:13Speaker 4: you can bring in and get some professionalism in a line.
- 1:32:15Speaker 6: I just think, especially like positions on the offensive line,
- 1:32:18Speaker 6: like if you can just get serviceable they don't even
- 1:32:21Speaker 6: have serviceable. Like, if you can just get certain spots
- 1:32:24Speaker 6: to serviceable, it makes your job so much easier.
- 1:32:27Speaker 2: And he needs to bring back guy, bring in guys
- 1:32:29Speaker 2: and say follow his example, do what he does. Right now,
- 1:32:33Speaker 2: I don't know who those people are. You know, David
- 1:32:35Speaker 2: Andrews is one, but we don't know if he's going
- 1:32:37Speaker 2: to be back. They need more of those guys.
- 1:32:40Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:32:40Speaker 3: I think that's a great point. It's just saying we
- 1:32:41Speaker 3: don't know, Like I don't know right now. Can you
- 1:32:43Speaker 3: count on and when you were duggle right now as
- 1:32:46Speaker 3: leaders who are gonna come back and really set the tone,
- 1:32:48Speaker 3: try to bounce back. I don't know.
- 1:32:49Speaker 2: If you do what he does, you'll be all right.
- 1:32:51Speaker 2: Christian in La, what's up Christian.
- 1:32:56Speaker 21: Today?
- 1:32:56Speaker 2: Hey? So so uh?
- 1:33:02Speaker 22: I wanted to play a quick game with you guys
- 1:33:04Speaker 22: called one pick Away.
- 1:33:06Speaker 2: One pick away over the.
- 1:33:08Speaker 22: Last five seasons, if you guys could pick one player
- 1:33:12Speaker 22: where the pick either before or the pick after you
- 1:33:16Speaker 22: believe would have impacted our team positively.
- 1:33:20Speaker 4: Do you have them?
- 1:33:22Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:33:23Speaker 21: I just don't have them going over them now.
- 1:33:27Speaker 4: I can't tell you off the top of I think
- 1:33:29Speaker 4: Justin Jefferson, Yeah right? Was that a pick ahead of
- 1:33:32Speaker 4: the picture?
- 1:33:34Speaker 3: How far away was McDuffie.
- 1:33:35Speaker 4: I don't know McDuffie. They the original pick, they traded
- 1:33:38Speaker 4: behind him.
- 1:33:39Speaker 6: Yeah, I think Justin Jefferson was the pick before, because
- 1:33:41Speaker 6: then they traded out of the pick and moved back,
- 1:33:43Speaker 6: and they ended up taking Kyle Duggar, who went before mack.
- 1:33:48Speaker 3: Uh Parsons was a future.
- 1:33:51Speaker 6: Elijah Vera Tucker. I want to say who they were.
- 1:33:54Speaker 6: I don't know if that was the pick before or
- 1:33:56Speaker 6: two picks after maybe, but they were high apparently on
- 1:33:59Speaker 6: Vera Tucker. Him and Parsons were like the two guys
- 1:34:02Speaker 6: in that draft that if they had made it to
- 1:34:04Speaker 6: fifteen maybe would have led to not picking a quarterback.
- 1:34:07Speaker 4: You know, did Brandon Coleman get taken one pick ahead
- 1:34:10Speaker 4: of Kayden Wallace? He did? Is that one of those?
- 1:34:14Speaker 4: But again hard to know if he I don't think
- 1:34:16Speaker 4: Coleman's all that, but he's, as Evan said, he's been
- 1:34:19Speaker 4: serviceable and that's where they need to get to.
- 1:34:22Speaker 2: Thanks Christian. I mean, could you see a world where
- 1:34:26Speaker 2: Parsons did fall, they take him, and then they take
- 1:34:29Speaker 2: JJ McCarthy and we'd be in the playoffs this week,
- 1:34:31Speaker 2: this year?
- 1:34:33Speaker 6: J J McCarthy Not J.
- 1:34:35Speaker 2: Why do I always Caldon No? No, the quarterback in Minnesota,
- 1:34:40Speaker 2: Sam Darnold, No, the one that got hurt.
- 1:34:43Speaker 4: Yes, So how are we getting him?
- 1:34:45Speaker 5: What?
- 1:34:46Speaker 2: Because he would have come he would have been available
- 1:34:49Speaker 2: if we had moved you know, if we had moved down,
- 1:34:51Speaker 2: if we had traded down. Okay, Michael Parsons, he falls, if.
- 1:34:58Speaker 6: He fell into twenty one.
- 1:35:02Speaker 4: One this way, I was like, couldn't understand how we
- 1:35:06Speaker 4: were getting trade back?
- 1:35:07Speaker 6: Yeah, I love it.
- 1:35:10Speaker 4: It was just yes, sign me up for Micah Parsons.
- 1:35:12Speaker 6: It was just a rumor. But the rumor was at
- 1:35:14Speaker 6: the time in twenty one for understandable reasons. Bill had
- 1:35:18Speaker 6: in infatuation with Micah Parsons, and if he had been
- 1:35:20Speaker 6: there at fifteen, they would have taken him over mac Jones.
- 1:35:23Speaker 6: But that would and then you take McCarthy later. Well,
- 1:35:26Speaker 6: I mean it's four years later.
- 1:35:29Speaker 4: I don't understand the correlation, but yes, I'd be all
- 1:35:33Speaker 4: for that.
- 1:35:34Speaker 6: I would have taken Bonix. No, I'm just kidding, you
- 1:35:36Speaker 6: would not have taken.
- 1:35:39Speaker 4: No, I mean J J. McCary. I like Drake May
- 1:35:42Speaker 4: more than McCarthy, but who knows, I don't know. See,
- 1:35:45Speaker 4: all right, Drake May.
- 1:35:47Speaker 2: Let's go to Boston Cream. What's up guy? What's up
- 1:35:50Speaker 2: Boston Cream? Hey?
- 1:35:52Speaker 3: Fred?
- 1:35:53Speaker 20: First off, just wanted to offer an apology for calling
- 1:35:55Speaker 20: you Jelly.
- 1:35:58Speaker 3: Next Jelly. If I don't think you're ready.
- 1:36:02Speaker 20: Last week I said you were made of jelly.
- 1:36:05Speaker 2: Oh.
- 1:36:06Speaker 20: If you guys could change any rule in the NFL,
- 1:36:10Speaker 20: which kind of rule would you change? I think lately
- 1:36:12Speaker 20: I've been kind of getting a little pissed off about
- 1:36:16Speaker 20: the fact that you just can't hit quarterbacks in this
- 1:36:18Speaker 20: day and age, and that they're kind of protected like
- 1:36:20Speaker 20: soccer players, and that's kind of allowing for more offensive
- 1:36:23Speaker 20: football than defensive football. What do you guys think?
- 1:36:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know. I think there's got to be
- 1:36:29Speaker 2: review on every play. Every play needs to be reviewable. No,
- 1:36:34Speaker 2: you don't get extra you know, challenges everything that can
- 1:36:38Speaker 2: remain the same, but you have the ability to review
- 1:36:41Speaker 2: everything so that if you think there's helmet to helmet
- 1:36:44Speaker 2: and it turns out there's not, then it's not roughing.
- 1:36:48Speaker 5: You know.
- 1:36:49Speaker 6: I'm with you on that.
- 1:36:51Speaker 4: I don't I don't mind it if you want to
- 1:36:53Speaker 4: do it that way. I don't think that would solve
- 1:36:55Speaker 4: much because I think you'd have the same arguments when
- 1:36:58Speaker 4: you watch the replays like you do when they put
- 1:37:00Speaker 4: the experts up and one guy watches a play and says,
- 1:37:03Speaker 4: I didn't have a penalty on that. Another guy watches
- 1:37:05Speaker 4: the play and says I did have a penalty on that.
- 1:37:07Speaker 2: Yeah, but that that happens, it does happen. But I
- 1:37:11Speaker 2: think having review is better than not having it.
- 1:37:14Speaker 6: Yeah, I just think that's fine.
- 1:37:16Speaker 4: I don't the quarterback thing. I just think that they
- 1:37:19Speaker 4: need to start They need to to lessen the protection
- 1:37:23Speaker 4: when the quarterback becomes a runner. That's my only thing.
- 1:37:25Speaker 4: Like I don't think that they protect the quarterback too much,
- 1:37:28Speaker 4: like in general, I mean a little bit, but the
- 1:37:31Speaker 4: ones like if you're gonna let these guys be weapons
- 1:37:33Speaker 4: like this, you have to let them get hit.
- 1:37:35Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, especially with the my mahomes when it was
- 1:37:38Speaker 3: like actually I'm gonna slide right now, and you know
- 1:37:40Speaker 3: like that that can't win the fake slides. I meant.
- 1:37:43Speaker 6: There was one in the I think it's the Washington
- 1:37:45Speaker 6: game where they it was a read option and the
- 1:37:49Speaker 6: defender smoked Jayden Daniels but he handed it off.
- 1:37:52Speaker 2: Yeah, and they.
- 1:37:53Speaker 6: Called the unnecessary roughness or you know, personal foul, and
- 1:37:56Speaker 6: I was like, well, how do you know he's not
- 1:37:59Speaker 6: keeping the ball.
- 1:38:00Speaker 4: I thought that was a good call though, I thought
- 1:38:02Speaker 4: that wasn't unnecessary roughness. But I know what your point
- 1:38:04Speaker 4: is if you're carrying out the fake and you just
- 1:38:06Speaker 4: get tackled, right, I don't think they would have called it.
- 1:38:08Speaker 4: That was it. I think you got called for the
- 1:38:10Speaker 4: hit itself.
- 1:38:10Speaker 6: Yeah. But like my point is is just like if
- 1:38:12Speaker 6: they're gonna be that, they're gonna run these types of plays,
- 1:38:15Speaker 6: then like the quarterback has to be fair game to
- 1:38:17Speaker 6: an extent because that's how these defenses are designed to
- 1:38:21Speaker 6: stop it. But like you have the quarterback, you have
- 1:38:23Speaker 6: the running back, and that's how you're able to kind
- 1:38:26Speaker 6: of play team defense against those types of plays.
- 1:38:28Speaker 2: You know, I know, I know it seems a little simplistic,
- 1:38:31Speaker 2: but if if there was some kind of rule where
- 1:38:34Speaker 2: if you go in for the tackle and your arms
- 1:38:37Speaker 2: are down by your side, you're going in for a
- 1:38:40Speaker 2: hit and not a tackle, So you could, in other words,
- 1:38:44Speaker 2: you can never be called for a penalty if your
- 1:38:47Speaker 2: arms are out trying to make a tackle, like even
- 1:38:49Speaker 2: if you make.
- 1:38:50Speaker 4: Ironically enough, they outlawed that even hip drop. What do
- 1:38:54Speaker 4: you mean when you put your arms around a guy
- 1:38:56Speaker 4: and you drop your weight.
- 1:38:57Speaker 2: But that's different. But if you're if you're going to
- 1:38:59Speaker 2: wrap up guy and you're tempting to make a tackle
- 1:39:02Speaker 2: with your you know, with your arms in your hands,
- 1:39:06Speaker 2: you're excluded from ever being called helmet to helmet. But
- 1:39:10Speaker 2: if your arms are down by your side, you're opening
- 1:39:12Speaker 2: your up yourself up to a helmet to helmet.
- 1:39:17Speaker 4: I don't hate it.
- 1:39:18Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a little bit like in USA hockey. They're
- 1:39:20Speaker 3: trying to do it where when you deliver a hit,
- 1:39:22Speaker 3: your stick has to be on the ice. So if
- 1:39:24Speaker 3: you're delivering a hit where your stick is up, they're
- 1:39:27Speaker 3: gonna call you for a rough potentially, Whereas if your
- 1:39:29Speaker 3: stick's on the ice you're playing the puck. You know,
- 1:39:31Speaker 3: you're just trying to separate the puck carrier from the puck.
- 1:39:34Speaker 3: It's a good hit. Some of the similar.
- 1:39:37Speaker 4: Awareness, to me, they need and it's not about spot
- 1:39:40Speaker 4: foul or any of that. I think that's right, but
- 1:39:43Speaker 4: I just think there are too many I know it's
- 1:39:46Speaker 4: a highly subjective call, but there are too many different opinions, like, yeah,
- 1:39:54Speaker 4: there's so much hand fighting that goes on that gets called,
- 1:39:57Speaker 4: and the consistent hit before the ball gets there doesn't
- 1:40:01Speaker 4: get called, right, And I think one completely eliminates a
- 1:40:04Speaker 4: chance of making a catch and the other doesn't. But
- 1:40:08Speaker 4: the one that doesn't eliminate the catch gets called that
- 1:40:11Speaker 4: that turnavious White call on someday that was a bad call.
- 1:40:15Speaker 4: Like there's just two guys that are like the jockeying
- 1:40:18Speaker 4: with each other and pushing each other. You can make
- 1:40:20Speaker 4: an argument that Keon Coleman should have gotten called for
- 1:40:22Speaker 4: offensive interference. I don't think it was that either.
- 1:40:24Speaker 2: Yeah, and I don't know, I don't remember which game
- 1:40:26Speaker 2: it was, was one of the night games, but the
- 1:40:28Speaker 2: offensive line, the ends were, you know, the linemen were
- 1:40:33Speaker 2: consistently lining off the line and they weren't calling it.
- 1:40:36Speaker 2: Probably probably Kansas City called.
- 1:40:39Speaker 4: You know, he got called twice I think in the game,
- 1:40:41Speaker 4: did he.
- 1:40:44Speaker 2: Taylor?
- 1:40:44Speaker 6: Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, I wonder too. And you're seeing it
- 1:40:48Speaker 6: more and more with all the r p O and
- 1:40:50Speaker 6: all that influence, like the illegal men downfield penalties are
- 1:40:53Speaker 6: starting to become Really I was going.
- 1:40:55Speaker 2: To say that because like I never insarily who cares
- 1:40:58Speaker 2: just run down field? But somebody explained to me like
- 1:41:01Speaker 2: kind of the reasoning, Yeah, for that.
- 1:41:03Speaker 6: It's really critical. And then in the college game, the
- 1:41:05Speaker 6: rule is a lot more lenient, and so now you
- 1:41:08Speaker 6: have these linemen on RPOs that are like already five
- 1:41:11Speaker 6: six yards down the field and it's it's ridiculous. It
- 1:41:14Speaker 6: makes it really hard to.
- 1:41:16Speaker 4: Stop the one it took away a big game and
- 1:41:19Speaker 4: it was legit call like the guy was like eight
- 1:41:21Speaker 4: yards down field blocking before the ball was even thrown.
- 1:41:24Speaker 4: I forget which game it was. I think that's a
- 1:41:26Speaker 4: good rule.
- 1:41:27Speaker 2: It's a really good Well that's illegal contact right, well, no,
- 1:41:30Speaker 2: that's defensive side. Yeah, I get, but I understand the
- 1:41:33Speaker 2: reason for the rule, but it is sometimes it's like
- 1:41:37Speaker 2: I can't help it. You know, like you said, it's
- 1:41:39Speaker 2: an RPO and there's so much time.
- 1:41:41Speaker 5: I laugh.
- 1:41:42Speaker 2: Oh, you've got a quarterback that's running around.
- 1:41:44Speaker 21: You know.
- 1:41:44Speaker 4: They definitely, I I mean it feels to me anyway.
- 1:41:47Speaker 4: I shouldn't say definitely, but it feels to me this
- 1:41:50Speaker 4: year that they were really strict with that, and I
- 1:41:53Speaker 4: think they called a lot of really tiki tak ones
- 1:41:55Speaker 4: where like the backside tackle might be like a yard
- 1:41:59Speaker 4: and a half dound field old forty yards away from
- 1:42:02Speaker 4: the ball, and they're calling the legal man downfield like
- 1:42:04Speaker 4: those are the ones. I but like there was a
- 1:42:07Speaker 4: screen I want maybe it was the Eagles game. The
- 1:42:09Speaker 4: guy was downfield like, you know, eight or ten yards
- 1:42:13Speaker 4: downfield lining up a block as the as the kid
- 1:42:17Speaker 4: is catching the screen, Like, how do you defend that
- 1:42:20Speaker 4: You're already getting blocked.
- 1:42:21Speaker 2: Now, right? But I think everything should be reviewable.
- 1:42:26Speaker 6: I'm with you on that.
- 1:42:27Speaker 3: I just think if you can eliminate the obvious world.
- 1:42:29Speaker 3: But I hear what parlimin play. I mean, I hear
- 1:42:32Speaker 3: what Paul's saying about you.
- 1:42:33Speaker 2: You're putting it into the hands of the people you
- 1:42:35Speaker 2: think are incompetent.
- 1:42:36Speaker 4: Yeah, because I don't trust their their opinions when they
- 1:42:38Speaker 4: look back at it.
- 1:42:39Speaker 2: You just don't like anybody.
- 1:42:41Speaker 6: I just really like that. In some of the Spring
- 1:42:43Speaker 6: leagues have done this with the review and they're they're
- 1:42:45Speaker 6: sort of doing it now, but like, just like the
- 1:42:47Speaker 6: Sky Judge, it's just like, yeah, if you can make
- 1:42:50Speaker 6: a decision within ten seconds, then you can change a call.
- 1:42:53Speaker 6: But we're not here to break it down.
- 1:42:55Speaker 2: To that a little bit more.
- 1:42:56Speaker 4: Yeah, I think that's that's been a good, good move. Yeah.
- 1:43:00Speaker 4: The other thing that I think is very underrated. The
- 1:43:05Speaker 4: spotting of the ball is atrocious, and for most of
- 1:43:09Speaker 4: the game, no one ever really cares, right, But there's
- 1:43:12Speaker 4: been so many times where a guy had a first
- 1:43:14Speaker 4: down and they mark him like a half yard short,
- 1:43:16Speaker 4: and then all of a sudden you look up two
- 1:43:17Speaker 4: plays later they're punting because they didn't get that first down.
- 1:43:20Speaker 4: I don't know, there's got to be a better way
- 1:43:23Speaker 4: to mark the ball than chips.
- 1:43:27Speaker 2: Well, the problem with the lasers is is too many
- 1:43:29Speaker 2: bodies in the.
- 1:43:29Speaker 4: Way, right, Yeah, I don't think those those are easy solutions,
- 1:43:34Speaker 4: but you got.
- 1:43:35Speaker 6: To be able to put a chip in the ball.
- 1:43:36Speaker 4: There in the ball, but where the ball is doesn't
- 1:43:39Speaker 4: necessarily always mean that's where it should be spotted.
- 1:43:42Speaker 2: It's where he's down.
- 1:43:43Speaker 6: Right, right, Well, that's yeah, I mean, I look, I'm
- 1:43:46Speaker 6: not an elbows. Yeah, there's got to be a way
- 1:43:49Speaker 6: that they can figure out.
- 1:43:50Speaker 4: A way. I was telling to this was there was
- 1:43:52Speaker 4: one in the Baltimore game Baltimore Buffalo. It was in
- 1:43:55Speaker 4: the first half, and the guy caught a pass and
- 1:43:58Speaker 4: he was a good half a yard short of the
- 1:44:00Speaker 4: first down, right, and the guys running in from the
- 1:44:03Speaker 4: sideline marking the ball a half a yard short of
- 1:44:07Speaker 4: the first down. But he's given this sign to the
- 1:44:10Speaker 4: sticks like he's got the first down. I'm like, maybe
- 1:44:12Speaker 4: the sticks on the side that we could see weren't
- 1:44:15Speaker 4: the official ones, and maybe on the other side it was.
- 1:44:17Speaker 4: But we've been at a million NFL games. They're not
- 1:44:20Speaker 4: really off. They're usually in the same spots.
- 1:44:24Speaker 5: I like it.
- 1:44:24Speaker 2: I like it when you see the ref running in
- 1:44:26Speaker 2: and he's like.
- 1:44:26Speaker 6: No, ten million dollar team industry and we're just like,
- 1:44:32Speaker 6: we have chain.
- 1:44:33Speaker 4: Games maybe and maybe we can have a base sis
- 1:44:35Speaker 4: and I vevall tazed, like so the chain gang, to
- 1:44:39Speaker 4: me is where you can put the lasers. Like, why
- 1:44:41Speaker 4: do we have two sticks that are connected by a chain.
- 1:44:43Speaker 4: Why not just have it be a laser sticks.
- 1:44:45Speaker 2: Imagine that two sticks connected by a chain.
- 1:44:48Speaker 4: Right that that would seem to be this should be
- 1:44:50Speaker 4: should be technology that you don't need anything that's connecting
- 1:44:53Speaker 4: those two things. Like you have a you know, a
- 1:44:56Speaker 4: laser focused ten yards exactly ten yards.
- 1:45:00Speaker 2: You know, three sixty year old guys that have been
- 1:45:01Speaker 2: there forever out of a job.
- 1:45:03Speaker 4: That's a great point.
- 1:45:06Speaker 6: Once a week, and.
- 1:45:09Speaker 2: Those guys would die if.
- 1:45:09Speaker 4: They like a high school game right now.
- 1:45:13Speaker 3: No, they asked one time at a game, I felt
- 1:45:15Speaker 3: too much pressure. I didn't I didn't volunteer.
- 1:45:17Speaker 2: Do we have someone coming? I know? But you know, oh,
- 1:45:20Speaker 2: I would screw that up. It could be hard, dangerous.
- 1:45:23Speaker 4: Yeah, I've I've done it, Like I used to do
- 1:45:25Speaker 4: them a lot for games when my father was running,
- 1:45:28Speaker 4: Like Pop warned football, you know, I need you and
- 1:45:30Speaker 4: your friend, well I need you know, like I get
- 1:45:32Speaker 4: stuck killed them. But you just never want to do
- 1:45:35Speaker 4: it when your kids playing.
- 1:45:37Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's all.
- 1:45:38Speaker 4: Yeah, that's what I used to say no when they
- 1:45:40Speaker 4: asked me, like, no, I want to watch my son play.
- 1:45:43Speaker 4: And you don't want to be on the sidelines of
- 1:45:44Speaker 4: those games. Like here, all kinds of stuff.
- 1:45:47Speaker 3: Somebody talking some crap, Paul, call time out, Call time out.
- 1:45:52Speaker 3: I don't know what you're doing out there.
- 1:45:55Speaker 4: I'm with my buddy. I'm like, I don't know what
- 1:45:57Speaker 4: he's doing. I mean, he was just running the ball here.
- 1:45:59Speaker 2: What do we do kids?
- 1:46:00Speaker 5: Bike?
- 1:46:00Speaker 6: Kid?
- 1:46:02Speaker 2: So, would you have scholarships in your school.
- 1:46:07Speaker 4: For my clock management school?
- 1:46:09Speaker 2: Clock Management?
- 1:46:10Speaker 4: I mean, if there were kids in the inner city
- 1:46:12Speaker 4: that maybe don't have the opportunities, Fred, I would be
- 1:46:14Speaker 4: definitely willing to.
- 1:46:15Speaker 3: I'm feeling this would be an We'll have an ad
- 1:46:17Speaker 3: for Fred's gambling book, and then we'll have an ad
- 1:46:18Speaker 3: for for your school. Hello, are you wondering how to
- 1:46:21Speaker 3: manage at a football game, will come to me Paul Parillo,
- 1:46:24Speaker 3: the School of clock Management.
- 1:46:26Speaker 4: Why does he have to make it sound like a
- 1:46:27Speaker 4: half a moro right.
- 1:46:29Speaker 3: On a TV? You know, let's be commercial.
- 1:46:30Speaker 4: He sounds like more.
- 1:46:36Speaker 6: Man, I heard a little.
- 1:46:37Speaker 4: I heard a little hint.
- 1:46:41Speaker 2: Paul's commercial would be more. He'd give like two examples
- 1:46:44Speaker 2: of like just idiot calls. You don't want to be
- 1:46:47Speaker 2: this person. That's why you want to come to the
- 1:46:50Speaker 2: school clock man.
- 1:46:51Speaker 4: Like me get like an Andy Reid testimonial. I had
- 1:46:54Speaker 4: no idea what I was doing until I went to school.
- 1:47:02Speaker 2: We could do some good commercials that would be good.
- 1:47:05Speaker 2: You wouldn't be wearing that hoodie. I can tell you
- 1:47:06Speaker 2: that much. William and philam third, try what's up?
- 1:47:13Speaker 21: What's up? Hey?
- 1:47:14Speaker 2: What's going on here?
- 1:47:17Speaker 21: I had on mute by mistake. I'm sorry, Okay, that's
- 1:47:20Speaker 21: why I got That's why we got to disconnected at.
- 1:47:23Speaker 2: That point, so you'll hang up and listen it through.
- 1:47:26Speaker 21: But I kept trying it so I got through.
- 1:47:28Speaker 2: All right, what do you got? How everybody doing good?
- 1:47:32Speaker 21: Good?
- 1:47:33Speaker 2: Yep, everything's good?
- 1:47:35Speaker 21: All right, that's what's up? I had three questions for Evan.
- 1:47:38Speaker 21: So one is what do you think of the war
- 1:47:41Speaker 21: receiver from Ohio State? His name was Smith.
- 1:47:44Speaker 3: I think Jerry Smith. I like Jerry Smith.
- 1:47:47Speaker 6: He's a true freshman.
- 1:47:48Speaker 5: I don't know Jerry, I don't know.
- 1:47:50Speaker 4: He might be the best player in the country.
- 1:47:52Speaker 6: He's a true freshman. He's seventeen. Right, Why don't you
- 1:47:55Speaker 6: call back in twenty twenty seven and we'll talk about it.
- 1:47:59Speaker 21: You got, you got? Yeah? The other two pressures, what
- 1:48:02Speaker 21: is your issue with with Will Johnson? And three? Can
- 1:48:07Speaker 21: you give me an idea of what free agency would
- 1:48:09Speaker 21: look like for their facers, Like who you think they
- 1:48:11Speaker 21: might get, you know, to come in and whatnot? And
- 1:48:13Speaker 21: I'll leave it at day.
- 1:48:15Speaker 6: Right, Thanks Willem Will Johnson. At three, I mean, look,
- 1:48:19Speaker 6: I I sort of subscribed to talent at any he
- 1:48:22Speaker 6: plays corner. I just I think the one thing they
- 1:48:26Speaker 6: have right now is a good corner. Now, two good
- 1:48:28Speaker 6: corners sounds fun, but it just I think you can
- 1:48:31Speaker 6: spread your resources out a little bit better than that.
- 1:48:33Speaker 3: And take a corner free agency classes.
- 1:48:35Speaker 6: Yeah, Like, I don't know, It's just that's just more
- 1:48:38Speaker 6: of a positional thing, if you really if they grade
- 1:48:41Speaker 6: him out and he's the best player by a landslide
- 1:48:43Speaker 6: that's on the board at four. I'm not saying don't
- 1:48:45Speaker 6: pick him. I just I don't know. I just that's
- 1:48:48Speaker 6: just a position conversation. And and free agency. I think
- 1:48:52Speaker 6: the biggest thing with free agency is we got to
- 1:48:54Speaker 6: see who's available in free agency. Like I'm not ready.
- 1:48:57Speaker 6: I know a lot of people are Ron me stan
- 1:49:00Speaker 6: Lee and t Higgins and all these other names that
- 1:49:03Speaker 6: could be out there. Josh Sweat, Like, let's see, like
- 1:49:06Speaker 6: a lot of time we get to free agency and
- 1:49:08Speaker 6: half these dudes have been tagged or whatever, and I'm
- 1:49:11Speaker 6: just not I'm not one hundred percent sold it. Everybody's
- 1:49:13Speaker 6: going to hit the market, So let's see what happens
- 1:49:16Speaker 6: in March.
- 1:49:16Speaker 3: I like Trey Greenlaw. I like Trey green Law. He
- 1:49:18Speaker 3: gets it. I think that Alerc Jackson two from the Rams,
- 1:49:21Speaker 3: but franchise maybe, I mean that's like.
- 1:49:23Speaker 6: Yeah, a lot of these guys, Clerk Jackson, like those
- 1:49:25Speaker 6: are the types of guys that I would look for
- 1:49:28Speaker 6: them to add in this. You know, keep talking about
- 1:49:30Speaker 6: the Commanders and the O one Patriots and things like that,
- 1:49:32Speaker 6: Like one like those are one of those guys, you know,
- 1:49:34Speaker 6: and Alerc Jackson, you know, just Milton Williams, like guys
- 1:49:39Speaker 6: that play the defensive line that are just really good
- 1:49:41Speaker 6: defensive linemen but aren't necessarily stars. Like I think they
- 1:49:45Speaker 6: could do a lot with one hundred and thirty million
- 1:49:47Speaker 6: dollars to get a lot of those guys.
- 1:49:49Speaker 4: Read something about green Law that I think someone on
- 1:49:52Speaker 4: Twitter today suggested that he probably will sign a one
- 1:49:56Speaker 4: year deal to stay in San Francisco. Yeaheah, because get
- 1:49:59Speaker 4: healthy and get back on hell and then have a
- 1:50:01Speaker 4: chance to earn something.
- 1:50:02Speaker 6: Yeah, exact spond and Philly is an awesome player, Like
- 1:50:06Speaker 6: is he going to get tagged like some sort of
- 1:50:08Speaker 6: transition franchise whatever. I don't know, but he's a stud.
- 1:50:11Speaker 3: But I got a question though, I mean special teams
- 1:50:13Speaker 3: guy signs a one year deal, low money with them,
- 1:50:15Speaker 3: He's playing in front of the best defensive line in
- 1:50:17Speaker 3: the league. Does that give you any cause for concern
- 1:50:19Speaker 3: with him? Like, out of nowhere comes in on this one.
- 1:50:23Speaker 3: I'm doing my studies.
- 1:50:24Speaker 4: That's good.
- 1:50:25Speaker 6: I don't know, because, like I really liked him coming
- 1:50:28Speaker 6: out and he's one of those guys that can play
- 1:50:30Speaker 6: on and off the line of scrimmage and he had
- 1:50:32Speaker 6: that versatility and is it that definitely could be a factor.
- 1:50:36Speaker 6: But like Vic Fangio is such a good coach, I
- 1:50:38Speaker 6: just wonder if maybe somebody's finally figured him out, you know, like.
- 1:50:41Speaker 4: A different position, but kind of like Vrabel. Yeah, like
- 1:50:45Speaker 4: when he was in Pittsburgh, he was like a situational guy,
- 1:50:48Speaker 4: special teamer. Yeah, I mean plays the edge and Bond's
- 1:50:51Speaker 4: more of a one and fifty tackles some crazy like.
- 1:50:53Speaker 6: They just like keep on. I just remember early on
- 1:50:56Speaker 6: and it was New Orleans, right, I think that drafted him,
- 1:50:58Speaker 6: and I just remember early on in his career he
- 1:51:00Speaker 6: couldn't figure him out, like is he an off the
- 1:51:01Speaker 6: line guy? Is he an edge rusher? And they kept
- 1:51:03Speaker 6: on bouncing him back and forth. And I just wonder
- 1:51:06Speaker 6: if maybe Fangio is finally like the guy that was
- 1:51:09Speaker 6: able to figure him.
- 1:51:10Speaker 4: But I would have pause with that front. Yeah right,
- 1:51:13Speaker 4: I mean you're right about that. It's kind of like
- 1:51:16Speaker 4: watching kind of like the DALYs Thomas.
- 1:51:18Speaker 6: Just watching them covers.
- 1:51:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:51:20Speaker 3: No, he can run like a win. I mean he's fascinating.
- 1:51:22Speaker 3: I just thought, you know, as you go through these things,
- 1:51:24Speaker 3: that's you know, it's an anomaly where he signed a
- 1:51:25Speaker 3: one year deal for like nothing with.
- 1:51:27Speaker 4: He had one series in the game where he just
- 1:51:29Speaker 4: took the game, like three plays in a row. He
- 1:51:31Speaker 4: was like really really involved in all three plays and
- 1:51:35Speaker 4: he does. He has like a lot of athleticism and
- 1:51:38Speaker 4: in the instincts. He had a great year like that
- 1:51:41Speaker 4: for a guy that didn't play that much. I don't know. Defense, Yeah,
- 1:51:44Speaker 4: isn't all.
- 1:51:44Speaker 2: Proh Pascal says about things he changed. I hate the
- 1:51:49Speaker 2: automatic first down penalty, third and thirty, defensive holding five
- 1:51:52Speaker 2: yard penalty. Automatic first down kills me every time I
- 1:51:55Speaker 2: agree with that. Me too with that one.
- 1:51:58Speaker 4: I think that if if it's if, I don't disagree
- 1:52:04Speaker 4: with automatic first downs, but I do think those situations
- 1:52:08Speaker 4: it shouldn't be an automatic, like it should have to
- 1:52:11Speaker 4: be a personal follow to be an automatic.
- 1:52:12Speaker 2: Yeah, but the problem is it. The problem with that
- 1:52:14Speaker 2: and the reason why they do automatic first down in
- 1:52:17Speaker 2: my opinion is if it's third and thirty, I'm coaching
- 1:52:21Speaker 2: any doubt, just foul them, just you know, make them
- 1:52:23Speaker 2: do the play over. And it's bad for the game.
- 1:52:26Speaker 4: It doesn't help you.
- 1:52:27Speaker 2: It does, it gives them another down, but it's still
- 1:52:30Speaker 2: third down. So at least, I'm not giving up a
- 1:52:33Speaker 2: big play, you know what I mean.
- 1:52:34Speaker 4: No, but it's like a five yard penalty defense. But
- 1:52:37Speaker 4: those those past interference, it's past in apperence, right, that's
- 1:52:40Speaker 4: taking away a big play.
- 1:52:42Speaker 2: Defensive holding in the backfield could also take away a
- 1:52:46Speaker 2: big play. So I'm telling my guys. I'm telling my guys,
- 1:52:49Speaker 2: don't get bet hold if you have to. I don't
- 1:52:52Speaker 2: care if it, but if it's a first down, then
- 1:52:55Speaker 2: I can't coach that way, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:52:58Speaker 4: So they may just don't think that anybody is telling
- 1:53:01Speaker 4: you on third and thirties.
- 1:53:02Speaker 2: They would. They would if it was only if it
- 1:53:04Speaker 2: was only a five or ten yard rather than give
- 1:53:06Speaker 2: up a big play.
- 1:53:07Speaker 4: I understand frustrated, that's why they do it. I think
- 1:53:10Speaker 4: that only personal follow should be automatic first downs. Yeah,
- 1:53:13Speaker 4: not five years.
- 1:53:14Speaker 2: I'm telling you, they would coach differently, and it wouldn't
- 1:53:16Speaker 2: be good for the game. You'd hate it. You'd have
- 1:53:19Speaker 2: these teams doing two and three penalties and I downspan.
- 1:53:22Speaker 4: I don't think you would coach differently. I don't think
- 1:53:24Speaker 4: you would ever want to commit penalties on third round.
- 1:53:27Speaker 2: You don't want to give a big plays either when
- 1:53:29Speaker 2: in doubt.
- 1:53:29Speaker 4: Yeah, those plays aren't big plays. Downfield pass interference.
- 1:53:33Speaker 2: I agree, That's why I like the big plays. If
- 1:53:36Speaker 2: you like you're about to get beat, you hold the guy,
- 1:53:38Speaker 2: you tug its jersey. You know.
- 1:53:41Speaker 4: I just don't think that would be a tactic. I
- 1:53:43Speaker 4: don't think you would say just hold them. If you say,
- 1:53:46Speaker 4: cover them.
- 1:53:47Speaker 2: In a crucial in a crucial time in the game,
- 1:53:50Speaker 2: I think coaches would say that.
- 1:53:52Speaker 4: I think they don't think they'd be any more apt
- 1:53:54Speaker 4: to say that if it's a first down.
- 1:53:56Speaker 2: Or not, well, we'll have to change the rule and
- 1:53:57Speaker 2: we'll find out.
- 1:53:58Speaker 4: Yeah, they never changed the rules.
- 1:54:02Speaker 2: Let's see Ben and Brooklyn says on an interception, roughing
- 1:54:07Speaker 2: the passer should still be a fifteen yard penalty, but
- 1:54:10Speaker 2: the possession should change.
- 1:54:11Speaker 4: I disagree. Yeah, a lot of roughing the passers cause interceptions.
- 1:54:15Speaker 2: Yeah. Uh, now.
- 1:54:20Speaker 4: You want to do your reviewable thing. Roughing the passer
- 1:54:24Speaker 4: should be reviewable.
- 1:54:25Speaker 6: Okay, I think it's going to be.
- 1:54:27Speaker 4: I know they've been talking about it. You know, you
- 1:54:29Speaker 4: and Evan want everything reviewable. That's one that needs to
- 1:54:32Speaker 4: be reviewed.
- 1:54:32Speaker 3: The rule for the defense.
- 1:54:34Speaker 6: Wow, that seems like that's happening. Yeah, there's some things
- 1:54:38Speaker 6: that have been floated out there for this year's like
- 1:54:41Speaker 6: league meetings and stuff that probably aren't going to get through.
- 1:54:43Speaker 6: But that one sounds like.
- 1:54:44Speaker 4: This isn't a good year for it because they missed
- 1:54:46Speaker 4: so many blatant face mask penalties. I feel like there
- 1:54:49Speaker 4: was at least there's at least like a half dozen missed.
- 1:54:52Speaker 4: That's also I think they should be much more lenient
- 1:54:55Speaker 4: with face masks, like if you've got to crab it
- 1:54:57Speaker 4: and rip it. Yeah, those are the the ones that
- 1:55:00Speaker 4: they missed this year, like borrow, had it happened, darnold,
- 1:55:03Speaker 4: had it happen. There was some blatant like turn the
- 1:55:05Speaker 4: whole head, and they didn't call it. Those aren't the
- 1:55:08Speaker 4: ones I'm talking about, Like when you like grays a
- 1:55:11Speaker 4: face mask, that's not always face mask to me, and
- 1:55:14Speaker 4: I think they get called a lot.
- 1:55:16Speaker 2: David and Wisconsin will get to the end of the show,
- 1:55:19Speaker 2: so it's always time for some Jaws talk. He says
- 1:55:22Speaker 2: they went down a rabbit hole of the deleted scenes
- 1:55:24Speaker 2: from Jaws. I remember as a kid in the eighties
- 1:55:27Speaker 2: watching it on TV, and there was a scene of
- 1:55:29Speaker 2: Quint going to a music store to buy something that
- 1:55:32Speaker 2: would choke the fish. I couldn't hear what Quint purchased
- 1:55:35Speaker 2: until I found the clip online and it was a
- 1:55:37Speaker 2: piano line number twelve. It chokes the fish, he tells
- 1:55:41Speaker 2: the cashier.
- 1:55:42Speaker 4: Piano Wireeah, don't be telling me my business again.
- 1:55:46Speaker 6: Why it doesn't hold up?
- 1:55:48Speaker 2: I then saw there were photos of the beast with
- 1:55:50Speaker 2: his jaws open to chomp down Alice Kinner and his raft.
- 1:55:55Speaker 2: The scene was shot with the shark visible, but any
- 1:55:57Speaker 2: signs of the shark from the scene were removed from
- 1:56:00Speaker 2: the final cut. Maybe you, gentlemen, knew that existed already.
- 1:56:04Speaker 6: I did, actually, I texted that I see the shark
- 1:56:06Speaker 6: in the movie. I didn't know that.
- 1:56:07Speaker 3: Well, they did show it, Evan, it was too violent
- 1:56:09Speaker 3: for people like you didn't like it.
- 1:56:11Speaker 5: You know, it was getting chopped and.
- 1:56:13Speaker 6: Has It looked like.
- 1:56:16Speaker 3: There's a good picture though, online of when they were
- 1:56:17Speaker 3: shooting it where Alice Kittner's like on the raft and
- 1:56:19Speaker 3: you see the shark like coming out and like cut
- 1:56:22Speaker 3: them in half. But I guess kids were getting scared
- 1:56:24Speaker 3: or something.
- 1:56:25Speaker 6: No, I think I just I'm gonna keep watch it again.
- 1:56:28Speaker 4: By to this piano wire, you don't be telling me
- 1:56:31Speaker 4: my business again.
- 1:56:31Speaker 3: I don't remember the other scene though, Do you remember
- 1:56:33Speaker 3: that one? I don't remember him going into a record
- 1:56:35Speaker 3: store of looking at it was a deleted scene, he said,
- 1:56:37Speaker 3: I don't. Yeah, but I should be aware of these things, Paul,
- 1:56:39Speaker 3: I've gone down.
- 1:56:40Speaker 4: I have not watched the deleted scenes on a Facebook.
- 1:56:43Speaker 4: What kind of I guess. I guess I'm not even
- 1:56:46Speaker 4: though I just keep it. What is up with that
- 1:56:49Speaker 4: camera angle?
- 1:56:49Speaker 2: What would they do? Nobody knows what you're talking about?
- 1:56:51Speaker 2: So on my show, I know, but nobody knows what
- 1:56:53Speaker 2: you're talking about.
- 1:56:54Speaker 4: Tough angle.
