Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Texanville Jaguar's fans welcome in to do vault daily presented by Jinjag.com and fueled by brass tax coffee right now.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_00]: We are talking about the disrespect that Trevor Lawrence gets, that the Jacksonville Jaguar's get as a franchise and look.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_00]: It's somewhat easy to understand at times, right?
- 0:20[SPEAKER_00]: Like, the Jaguars have just not been a consistent winner throughout, you know, this decade, throughout this century, you know, since 96 to 99, this team just has not consistently won football games.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_00]: But I think it's time for the Jaguars, for this franchise,
- 0:41[SPEAKER_00]: to dispel that narrative that the Jaguars cannot be a consistent franchise of the Jaguars cannot be a consistent winner that Trevor Lawrence cannot be a consistent quarterback.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_00]: I honestly think the Jaguars time is now and I think when you look at Jaguars being disrespected, that's right where the Jaguars should want to be.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_00]: That is right where they should want to be.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_00]: And so we're gonna get into it today.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all tuning in.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_00]: It is Wednesday, September, night that is NFL kickoff day.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_00]: I'm fired up for that.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_00]: No question about it.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: Got NFL football tonight.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: I also got club Jaguar tonight.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_00]: We're gonna be getting out as much content.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_00]: So it's Wednesday, right?
- 1:22[SPEAKER_00]: Starting tomorrow, it is all week one.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: It is all Jaguar's versus Browns.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_00]: We are gonna be talking about that game.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_00]: previewing that game from every angle possible over the next several days, but it's Wednesday and I thought today would be like one more day for kind of big picture talk before we start really getting into the nitty gritty with these individual matchups week to week.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_00]: I can't wait to do that, but I just had to talk about just some of the stuff I've been seeing, like with Trevor Lawrence specifically, I have no problem with like the ringer has him at 10th and in the NFL among quarterbacks.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: I think I saw a CBS ranking that had him at 11th, like these are rankings that I can live with.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: I can understand.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_00]: But when you have ESPN having a poll of, you know, scouts, GMs, all this stuff around the league, Trevor Lawrence finishes outside of the top 15.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_00]: Sports illustrated Albert Breard did the same type of poll and Trevor Lawrence outside of the top 15.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_00]: This is absurd.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_00]: This is absolutely absurd.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_00]: This is a quarterback.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_00]: Forget like all the accolades, everything that stuff, this is a quarterback that last year scored 39 regular season touchdowns.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_00]: Most of the quarterbacks on that list have not even sniffed that.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not even gotten close to it.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_00]: And look, I'm not saying Trevor Lawrence should be in tier one right now.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_00]: For me, tier one is Patrick Mahomes.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_00]: It is Josh Allen.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: I think tier two is probably just Matthew Stafford for me.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_00]: And then you have
- 3:11[SPEAKER_00]: Well, our Jackson, which could probably be up there, but he's coming off a down-year, after that, I think Trevor Lawrence is in that conversation right there, and I think he should be at the top of that conversation right there, after the season he had.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_00]: And for all the talk about the Jaguar is not being a consistent winner.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_00]: And so, Trevor Lawrence, he said, played five seasons in the NFL, right?
- 3:34[SPEAKER_00]: First year, absolute debacle.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_00]: Worst coaching job, maybe in NFL history.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: It's arguable.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: There's been some horrible coaching jobs, but Urban Meyer certainly out there didn't even survive the season due to poor play and his antics in the locker room on the field and off the field.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_00]: But outside of that 2021 campaign, which the talent level
- 4:10[SPEAKER_00]: And three of those four years, the Jaguars have had a winning record.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_00]: Like, people somehow like to gloss over that, forget that.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_00]: The only time they didn't have a winning record was when the franchise just fell apart due to poor leadership at the top from, in my opinion, not only the head coach, but also the general manager, very poor leadership, a lack of accountability publicly and privately.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_00]: If everyone's got injured that year, he wasn't playing his best football before that.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he was playing better than I think people give him credit for, but he was not playing his best football and the Jaguars as a team were just abysmal.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: It was a rough year, I think, again, it started at the top with the leadership with Doug Peterson and Trent Balky, not being on the same accord, not having the same mindset and vision and all these things for this football team.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_00]: And I think, you know, for everything that Doug Peterson did for the franchise, bringing in an adult in the room, all that stuff, I think it really fell apart in a big way because Doug Peterson, I don't think, was willing to adapt to the modern NFL player and the modern NFL game.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_00]: I really don't.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_00]: In fact, I think he regressed as a coach during his time in Jacksonville.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: Could that be the situation, circumstances, whatever?
- 5:42[SPEAKER_00]: Trevor Lawrence has proven to be a winner over the course of the last four years in my opinion, and he is a player that has all the physical tools in the world.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, he's not as big as Josh Allen.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_00]: He might not have as big of an arm as Josh Allen, but like no one does.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_00]: He might not have the same level of just like innate playmaking that a Patrick Mahomes does.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_00]: He's not as fast as Lamar Jackson, but he has upper echelon traits when it comes to athleticism, when it comes to his ability to put the ball anywhere he wants on the field.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_00]: when it comes to running the football, when it comes to rolling out to his left, and when it comes to just dicing up a defense from 10 to 25 to 30 yards down the field.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's in a sass, and I think he's as good as they get in that area.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_00]: And so Trevor Lawrence just deserves so much more respect than he is getting from the national media.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: Again, multiple polls that feature executives and scouts and all this stuff.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: Jaguar's quarterback Trevor Lawrence is outside of the top 15 quarterback's info ball.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_00]: That's insane.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_00]: It's truly insane.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_00]: This is the year where the Jaguars can finally shut that narrative up for a Trevor Lawrence.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_00]: It's also the year where the Jaguars can, as a franchise, kind of quiet the noise, and earn the respect.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: Liam Cohen said it perfectly last year, respect ain't coming, you gotta go take it.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that that's exactly what they're going to do this year.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_00]: But we can look at other areas of the roster that I think have been criticized, vastly underrated, et cetera.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_00]: And we're going to do that.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_00]: But first, tonight, you've got that my book he lock of the season.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_00]: It's back.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_00]: First, one is a no-brainer.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_00]: Tonight, Patriots in Seattle for NFL Kickoff.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_00]: My book he is asking you one simple question, will the C.O.X.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_00]: raise their championship banner?
- 7:44[SPEAKER_00]: Tonight.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_00]: Of course they will.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_00]: They're defending champs with home open or raising the banner before kickoff is part of the celebration.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_00]: You're getting that bet at plus money odds, you're getting paid to say, yes, the CX will do the thing.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_00]: The entire night is built around.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_00]: That is the first my bookie lock in the season.

- 8:19[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, the rest of this team.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_00]: I mean the jag wars as a team are not so I'll say this Vegas does have them at you know,
- 8:34[SPEAKER_00]: Minus odds to make the playoffs so like they also have nine teams in the AFC that should make the playoffs right so obviously that's not going to happen, but it's like You look around the web the athletic wherever ESPN The consensus is that the Jaguars will not make the playoffs That's the consensus The team that went 13 and four
- 9:03[SPEAKER_00]: dominated their opponents down the stretch, is getting Travis Hunter back, is getting a healthy tray of homewalker, a healthy aerogram step, a team that is in year two, and they were able to quietly keep Anthony Camponele, who is an under-appreciated defense of coach, quietly, able to keep Grant Edensky, who is a big piece to the Jaguar's offensive ecosystem,
- 9:31[SPEAKER_00]: You're able to keep these guys.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_00]: You're able to level up in year two.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_00]: You're able to quietly add some nice pieces, develop some nice pieces over the last couple of years as well.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_00]: And people don't think they're gonna make the playoffs.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_00]: Much less when they're division.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_00]: People, everybody has the Texans as like a top five team in the NFL.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_00]: Show me, I mean, yeah, everybody loves their defense.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_00]: They have a great defense.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_00]: Sure.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_00]: But the Jaguars are a more balanced team.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_00]: They're a team that finished the year, playing like a top 10 defense without Travis Hunter without a healthy tray of unwalker and healthy aircrafts, dead, with Greg Newsome playing corner.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_00]: They're a team that finished the year, playing like a top 10 offense.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_00]: Without much of a run game to speak of, most of the time.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_00]: And you're telling me that that 13 and 4 club, that, you know, put the Broncos in a headlock,
- 10:30[SPEAKER_00]: that ran a rough shot over the chargers.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_00]: That beat the brakes off most of the other teams they played down the stretch.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_00]: That's a team that's not gonna make the playoffs.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see, we will see, I think Josh Hines Allen and Trayvon Walker don't get their respect, they deserve, you hear smart analysts around the league do respect, Josh Hines Allen.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_00]: Like anybody who's opinion, I really respect, they talk about Josh Hines Allen as a great player, Nate Tyson, Mina Kimes, Derek Klasson, over the last couple days I've heard them talking about Josh Hines Allen as a great player.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_00]: Josh Hines Allen is a dark horse for the defense of MVP and I think that's true, I think that's fair, or defense of player the year, but widely disrespected, I think, you know, the offensive line is disrespected.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_00]: I think there are offensive tackled duo, Cole Van Lannon, when he gets on the field, Anton Harrison, that is a under under-raded duo.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_00]: I think Ezra Cleveland has been under-raded his entire time in Jacksonville, right?
- 11:51[SPEAKER_00]: Devon Hamilton is a player that doesn't get any love.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_00]: I never hear anyone talk about Devon Hamilton.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_00]: And I talked about it yesterday, not much of a past pressure, but maybe the best run defending
- 12:03[SPEAKER_00]: He's up there.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_00]: There's a couple of guys that I would, you know, read a van, more complete, um, Dexter Lawrence, more complete, but when it just comes to run defense, unbelievable player.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_00]: FOIA Luke has always been underrated throughout his career.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_00]: I don't hear anybody talking about Antonio Johnson, who is an energizer, a magnetic player who is versatile.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_00]: who led the AFC in interceptions last year tied for the lead with Devon Lloyds' shot, Devon Lloyd.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_00]: Despite only starting like half the season, the way he worked himself into that role and just excelled incredible.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_00]: I strongly believe in this Jaguar's team.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_00]: I think that they're in a position here, especially where Liam Cohen, despite going 13 and four last years, still gets to play the disrespect card, that's great.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_00]: This is a franchise that has been disrespected.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_00]: Rightfully so, in some instances, not anymore, but over the years, a city that gets disrespected and Liam Cohen, I think is the perfect guy, you know, along with Tony Bicelli and James Gladstone, to lead this group into a new era that is defined by the work they put in.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_00]: from the top down that is defined by having to take respect, having to earn respect, and I think that's exactly what they're going to do.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_00]: I cannot wait for the Jaguars to kick off on Sunday, and we're going to start previewing that game tomorrow morning against the Cleveland Browns tomorrow morning.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_00]: We'll be getting into it for, you know, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, just talking all things Jaguars versus Browns.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate your support.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_00]: helps out a ton, but it's exciting to be embarking on a new season.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_00]: We've got NFL football tonight.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_00]: We've got Club Jaguar tonight at 830.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you all so much for being here.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_00]: Have a good one.
