- 0:02SPEAKER_00: Hi guys, welcome back to another episode of Dr.
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: Eric, your voice extra.
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: And I have a phenomenal guest with me today.
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: He has been um behind one of the most successful um makeup lines, I think, that most of us can remember and recall.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: A lot of, you know, celebrities just were obsessed with it.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: And I I just am so excited to host him because he's truly a leader in, you know, the beauty industry.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: And literally everyone has nothing but just great, great things to say.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: And I'm so thrilled that he's with us here today to share um his newest project and a brand that I'm really, really enjoying lately.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: And I can't wait to share it with you guys.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: So welcome to the show, Richard Anderson from Hi Beautiful You.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: Welcome to the show, Richard.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: Thank you so much for the honor of coming onto the show.
- 0:45SPEAKER_02: Oh, the honor is all mine, Ectis.
- 0:47SPEAKER_02: What a what a pleasure to be here today.
- 0:49SPEAKER_02: I'm I'm really flattered that uh you chose Hi Beautiful You to talk to.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: No, I I really am excited because I mean your, you know, your track record speaks for itself.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: I mean, you really have uh, you know, you're a visionary, and I can't wait to learn more about you and um what you know led you to create high beautiful you.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: But I want to get started if it's okay with you, uh learn more about your career and just um if we could talk about you know perfect and just all the great things, right?
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: Like just from the beginning, if you could share that with our audience, walk us down.
- 1:18SPEAKER_02: Oh wow, how exciting! Yeah, that was my baby.
- 1:21SPEAKER_02: That was my baby.
- 1:22SPEAKER_02: Uh and well, high beautiful you is as well, of course.
- 1:26SPEAKER_02: But um, I I had been in the beauty industry over 14 years uh before I launched Perfect.
- 1:33SPEAKER_02: And let me just back up a little bit more and you know tell you why I got in the beauty industry.
- 1:38SPEAKER_02: I went working for Billard's department stores, and I was a buyer back in the day.
- 1:44SPEAKER_02: And then they transferred me to one of their stores, and I was a store manager and I was managing cosmetics, and I had probably been, I was a guy with bad skin, and probably had been to six or seven dermatologists, different dermatologists, I think acnecane, you know, the whole thing.
- 2:02SPEAKER_02: And uh when I was when I was at Dillers, I was always in the skincare department trying to find products for my problematic skin.
- 2:11SPEAKER_02: And so ironically, in Kansas City, I was recruited by the Lancaster Group out of Germany, and that's how I started in this industry when I was 25.
- 2:20SPEAKER_02: It's kind of crazy.
- 2:21SPEAKER_02: Wow, yeah.
- 2:23SPEAKER_02: So I've been in this business more than 25 years, and uh I I love the Lancaster Group, it was a great brand.
- 2:34SPEAKER_02: Um, but I was in fragrance and I really wanted to get into skincare or or color, even.
- 2:40SPEAKER_02: So Yves Saint Laurent moved me to Dallas, and I worked with a YSL for years, and then my friend Bobby Brown moved me to Los Angeles, and it was there that I discovered that women needed products that were easier.
- 2:56SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 2:57SPEAKER_02: You know, you have those days, Zector, you just you have a million things to do, you know, especially like I don't know if you're a mother, like working moms, just busy women who don't have time to go through all those steps every day.
- 3:09SPEAKER_02: So I do know what I'm talking about.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like I'm not a mom, but I definitely all my friends are, and I I know, I mean, it's like a problem in the morning sometimes, you know.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: You just you don't have the time, you know, even for like skincare, like just normal skincare.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: So yeah, I hear you.
- 3:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you just don't have time.
- 3:26SPEAKER_02: I'll never forget today that we were at uh Neiman Marcus in Beverly Hills doing a big event, and uh we gave this woman a face chart, and she looked at me, what's this?
- 3:37SPEAKER_02: A roadmap for my face?
- 3:38SPEAKER_02: And I was like, oh my gosh, this woman is so confused, she doesn't know where to start.
- 3:43SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, that's not fair.
- 3:45SPEAKER_02: I mean, she bought all the products, which was great, but I'm like, wow, it needs to be easier.
- 3:50SPEAKER_02: And also, you know, during my 14, you know, year career working for all these different companies, I realized that, you know, I was tired of looking at foundation before the woman walked in the room.
- 4:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah you know that look, yeah.
- 4:04SPEAKER_02: I mean, I did you know, I want to see you, I don't want to see your makeup.
- 4:09SPEAKER_02: And so I started Perfect in 2001 with one product, uh Skin Perfection Gel.
- 4:19SPEAKER_02: And that product was really ahead of its time, if you will.
- 4:24SPEAKER_02: You know, it was the original perfecting skin tint before the BB creams, before the CC creams.
- 4:32SPEAKER_02: But the way that it solved both of those issues and why I started Perfect, it was easy, right?
- 4:40SPEAKER_02: No brushes.
- 4:41SPEAKER_02: Do you use the High Beautiful You skin tint, the skin perfecting tent?
- 4:45SPEAKER_02: Have you tried it?
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: Yes, I have.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: I love it, and I can't wait to talk about it because like you really I you can tell you know what you're doing, like you know what I mean.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: That's why I was like, I have to get him to talk about perfect because like it's like for everyone listening, like once you try high beautiful you, you're gonna know like there's true like vision here, you know what I mean?
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: And I think with beauty products, you can tell, right?
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: Like immediately, like if the person knows what they're doing or not.
- 5:08SPEAKER_02: So, yeah, exactly.
- 5:10SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 5:11SPEAKER_02: So that one product I launched with one product and I ran with one product at Perfect, the skin perfection gel.
- 5:18SPEAKER_02: Now, not to confuse your listeners, but Hi Beautiful You, the skin perfecting tint, that's an amp of version, is even better than the perfect skin perfection gel, if you will.
- 5:29SPEAKER_02: You're like, how can we make it better?
- 5:30SPEAKER_02: But we did.
- 5:31SPEAKER_02: But anyway, so I started with that one product, and you know, it made women's lives easier.
- 5:37SPEAKER_02: You know, they would just, you know, squirt the tube and smooth it together in their fingertips, pat it into their face, you know, no brushes, no sponges.
- 5:46SPEAKER_02: You don't even need a mirror, you know.
- 5:49SPEAKER_02: It was so easy, it really revolutionized the way that women looked at makeup products.
- 5:56SPEAKER_02: Plus, you know, it was good for you, right?
- 5:58SPEAKER_02: It had alpha poic.
- 6:00SPEAKER_02: You know, I'm a big lover of alpha poic, thanks to my friend Dr.
- 6:03SPEAKER_02: Pericone.
- 6:05SPEAKER_02: Uh loved his products, uh, vitamin A, vitamin E.
- 6:09SPEAKER_02: So, you know, it was healthy.
- 6:11SPEAKER_02: And so women were getting, you know, this beautiful looking skin, and they didn't need to wear all that traditional makeup.
- 6:18SPEAKER_02: It was so easy.
- 6:19SPEAKER_02: You know, you could apply it anywhere, you know.
- 6:21SPEAKER_02: You don't need a mirror like I said, it was just so easy.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean, that's that's the thing though.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: The skin tint is really, really amazing.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: Like it's like a like, you know, I think of like, for example, like, you know, I've had moments before, right, Richard, where you have great skincare and like, you know, you look at yourself in the mirror, you're like, wow, my skin looks amazing, you know.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: But with with makeup products, unfortunately, I've very rarely had that experience, you know, where I'm like instantly hooked, you know what I mean?
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: Where I'm like, okay, yeah, this is something that I can rely on, you know, and it doesn't require me to buff brush all that, you know what I mean?
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: All the freaking, you know, brushes and sponges, whatever I need, right?
- 6:59SPEAKER_02: To make it look time.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no one has time.
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: No one has time.
- 7:04SPEAKER_02: I mean, give me a break.
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, it's it's insane how people expect us to have like 50 brushes, you know what I mean, to do our makeup every morning and like all this stuff.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: So with this product, I know exactly what you're talking about.
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: And I want to stress that, you know, from my perspective as a consumer, you know, the demographic you spoke of or you know, initially, I fall very much in that demographic.
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: Like, I'm not a busy mom.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: I huge kudos to all the moms out there, but I am a surgeon, you know.
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: At the end of the day, I rush out of my door every morning, and I literally don't even know when I get home most of the time, you know, it's just like a big work.
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: So you're and you know, you need products like right, right, like that you can rely on that aren't gonna break up during the day.
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: And that's another thing.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: It's like it works and you put it on, it's there for you throughout the day.
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: I don't really need to like worry about it, and that's a huge burden, you know what I mean, off your shoulders.
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: And I don't think we really, you know, it's crazy, Richard.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: I don't think we think about that.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: Like we as consumers, I think we think of like the first couple of hours, you know what I mean, of the product, but we don't think about like the whole day.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: Like have any for everyone listening out there, you guys should really like, I want you to think about it.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: Like, how many times do you have to like set your makeup or do little things that, you know what I mean, bring that confidence back to you in the day, you know, with what you're wearing.
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: So when you keep that in mind, like when you tried this product, you'll know exactly what I mean.
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: So I wanted to say that.
- 8:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 8:24SPEAKER_02: Well, let me just jump in because what's interesting about the demographics of perfect, um, and now hi, beautiful you.
- 8:33SPEAKER_02: What I like to say, it's for moms to make up artists.
- 8:37SPEAKER_02: You know, you mentioned it earlier, the celebrity following at Perfect.
- 8:42SPEAKER_02: So many celebrities were loving and using Perfect.
- 8:46SPEAKER_02: And what we would say was we're Hollywood's best kept secret, because I started the brand in Los Angeles, and you know, I knew a lot of makeup artists.
- 8:54SPEAKER_02: You know, I've been in LA 26 years, and you know, and I've been in the industry, and uh I had great representation, and we got the products into these makeup artists' hands, and you know, and especially for men, they use it on a lot of guys as content, you know, uh, or women, you know, those it goes all ways, it's for everybody, right?
- 9:15SPEAKER_02: But a lot of celebrities.
- 9:16SPEAKER_02: I don't know if we can say their names, but some pretty big ones that I'm sure you know.
- 9:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, there's you have like Alicia Keys on there.
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: I mean, I use it, yeah, yeah.
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: I mean, I it it speaks for itself, you know what I mean?
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: Like I feel like celebrities have to have the best, so yeah, that speaks for itself.
- 9:32SPEAKER_02: Well, Vanessa Williams has been a fan of Perfect.
- 9:36SPEAKER_02: Uh, she was one of our first celebrity fans, and uh she was actually just a friend of a friend, and I gave her the product once, and she fell in love with it, and her daughters use it, all three of her daughters use the skin tint.
- 9:48SPEAKER_02: And what's really cool is her mom uses it too.
- 9:52SPEAKER_02: So yeah, three generations right there in the Williams family.
- 9:57SPEAKER_02: Uh yeah, a lot, a lot of the Hilton's were big fans, you know.
- 10:02SPEAKER_02: Paris, Nikki, uh, lots lots of celebrities love love perfect.
- 10:07SPEAKER_02: Uh so and but that's what's cool about it, it's for everybody.
- 10:11SPEAKER_02: And makeup artists just love it.
- 10:12SPEAKER_02: It's a secret weapon, you know, the skin tint, because it's just so easy, you know.
- 10:16SPEAKER_02: And if you have a lot of models to do, you know, wham.
- 10:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you're just easy, right?
- 10:20SPEAKER_02: Easy breezy.
- 10:22SPEAKER_00: Well, that's the thing, is that I think Richard, you know, one of my biggest questions for you is like, you know, coming from all of this from perfect and then creating high beautiful you, you know, I feel like there must have been this overlap, right?
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: In like in the way that you approach, you know, your your products and your the vision, right?
- 10:40SPEAKER_00: So I would love to learn about that.
- 10:41SPEAKER_00: Like, what were some of like the the real hallmarks for you that you really wanted to bring, you know, over from perfect into high beautiful you that you knew that you were not comp compromise on?
- 10:52SPEAKER_02: That's very easy because it's any smart man does, he listens to women.
- 10:57SPEAKER_02: Because, you know, when I exited perfect, the brand lasted about five minutes without the founder.
- 11:02SPEAKER_02: You know how that goes.
- 11:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 11:05SPEAKER_02: Unfortunately, because that was my legacy.
- 11:07SPEAKER_02: I started that, you know, I started that with my own savings.
- 11:11SPEAKER_02: You know, I self-financed it for 10 years, and we were in Sephora, you know, I started it in Kitson on Robertson, Kitson on Robertson in LA.
- 11:19SPEAKER_02: And then Sephora picked it up, Nordstrom.
- 11:22SPEAKER_02: Uh I used to go on, we started with HSN, and then we did QVC.
- 11:27SPEAKER_02: So, as you know, you remember, I mean, we had great distribution.
- 11:31SPEAKER_02: Um, but you know, so my clients were really upset because they couldn't get their hands on these must-have fates.
- 11:38SPEAKER_02: My these women who I had become friends with, you know, on Facebook and Instagram.
- 11:42SPEAKER_02: They were all texting me, Richard, we can't get this skin perfection gel, we can't get the eye gel.
- 11:47SPEAKER_02: Where's that body bronzer?
- 11:49SPEAKER_02: I love the mascara, it's the best in the world.
- 11:51SPEAKER_02: So I listened to women and men, and uh that's one reason I brought the brand to existence, Hi Beautiful You.
- 12:01SPEAKER_02: But I did take some time off after I exited Perfect, and you know, I did some things I always wanted to do, but never did for the fear of being judged.
- 12:13SPEAKER_02: And I realized that me being me is what really kicked my talk.
- 12:18SPEAKER_02: You know, it made me happy.
- 12:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and I had an aha moment.
- 12:23SPEAKER_02: And guess what, Richard?
- 12:25SPEAKER_02: Your mission in life is not done.
- 12:28SPEAKER_02: And I finally realized my mission, and that's to help people feel better about themselves, right?
- 12:35SPEAKER_01: Right, right.
- 12:37SPEAKER_02: I was doing it all those years with Perfect.
- 12:39SPEAKER_02: It was interesting when I first started Perfect, I would sit in my Hollywood Hills office.
- 12:43SPEAKER_02: I started it out of my house about the Hollywood bowl, and you know, the phone wouldn't ring while I get in my truck, and I would go to Kitson and I would sell the product, I'd show the product, we'd empty the shelves, I would get orders from Little Boutique's account across the country, they would reorder the product.
- 12:59SPEAKER_02: Um, so I guess my point is what really satisfies me and makes me happy is to make people feel better about themselves.
- 13:09SPEAKER_02: I mean, when I apply this product, women say, Wow, oh my gosh, holy no crap, I've never looked like this.
- 13:16SPEAKER_02: And so little effort.
- 13:17SPEAKER_02: And then they look really close in the mirror and they can't see the makeup and they're like, wow, you know, that makes it all worthwhile for me.
- 13:25SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 13:26SPEAKER_00: No, I love that you said that because you know, that really, I think at the heart of it, I mean, when we think about why we buy, you know, cosmetic products, at the end of the day, we just want to feel more confident, you know, women and men.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: And I really see this like every day.
- 13:43SPEAKER_00: I literally, Richard was having a conversation the other day with one of my colleagues about this, and she's actually a psychiatrist, and we were discussing this, you know, and she was like, I wish people would just look, she literally says, Yeah, I wish people would look in the mirror more, you know, and just be nice to themselves.
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: And I was like, Yeah, you know, I it resonated with me what she said because it really comes down to this idea of like, you know, whenever you do look in the mirror and you're doing anything for yourself that has to do with, you know, makeup, cosmetics, whatever you is your thing, it should make you feel like you're walking away the best version of yourself.
- 14:17SPEAKER_00: You're walking away with a renewed confidence, a renewed sense of well-being and love for yourself.
- 14:22SPEAKER_00: That's the whole idea of cosmetics.
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: You know, like you shouldn't have to think about, you know, well, I have to like go find my perfect shade every day.
- 14:31SPEAKER_00: You know, it shouldn't be a problem.
- 14:33SPEAKER_00: But for a lot of us, especially as a woman of color, you know, it was a problem growing up.
- 14:37SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 14:38SPEAKER_00: Like where it was a struggle to even feel like you fit into the space, you know what I mean?
- 14:42SPEAKER_00: And I think now it's evolved a little bit where, you know, and in the sense of like people now feel like because of skin texture or you know, the type of skin they have, whether it's oily combination, whatever, there's always these things that exclude you from groups in the cosmetic industry.
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: But one thing I know that you're doing that is absolutely like hitting the nail on the head is you're creating products for everyone.
- 15:04SPEAKER_00: That's what matters.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, like that's the that's the bottom line, you know.
- 15:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah, exactly.
- 15:09SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 15:10SPEAKER_02: Um, I don't think I really answered your last question, did I?
- 15:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah, please.
- 15:14SPEAKER_01: I'm sorry, I interrupted you.
- 15:16SPEAKER_02: On a tangent, but I guess what I was saying is, you know, I wanted to create a brand that empowers people to express their most authentic self, right?
- 15:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah, don't try to be that that girl or that guy or whoever that's on the cover that's been photoshopped and tummy tucked, and you know, just like you said, just love yourself, just be you.
- 15:39SPEAKER_02: That's our tagline.
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, right.
- 15:42SPEAKER_00: No, absolutely, absolutely.
- 15:43SPEAKER_00: I think we need a lot more of that.
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: And I and I, you know, I think with your products, like I like I love the name.
- 15:50SPEAKER_00: I love how you named it what you did, because I mean, if you just like I'm a big affirmations person, you know what I mean?
- 15:56SPEAKER_00: Like, I'm really big on affirmations, and I think that we need reminders in our whole day, you know, about just being kind to ourselves.
- 16:03SPEAKER_00: And I even from the name down to like every detail, like I've I've loved the product, you know, like the concept, you know, overall.
- 16:10SPEAKER_00: So yeah, I I'm a huge fan.
- 16:12SPEAKER_02: I'm so humble, thank you.
- 16:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 16:15SPEAKER_00: No, I want to ask you, um, like I know the range right now is pretty um, you know, it's a tight range, and I like that.
- 16:22SPEAKER_00: I really as a consumer appreciate that because I don't like it when I go onto a makeup site, right?
- 16:26SPEAKER_00: Or any cosmetic line and I see like 50 products because it confuses me, personally speaking.
- 16:31SPEAKER_00: Like I get very confused.
- 16:33SPEAKER_00: So I wanted to talk to you about that as well.
- 16:35SPEAKER_00: Like, in terms of, you know, when you were designing the vision for High Beautiful You, did you want it to be like a narrow range of products that were just you know great?
- 16:43SPEAKER_00: Every product was great, and that's what you wanted.
- 16:45SPEAKER_00: Um, or what was your what is your goal with, you know, the overall um, you know, how many products you guys are gonna eventually, I guess, have exactly.
- 16:54SPEAKER_02: That's a great question.
- 16:55SPEAKER_02: So, what I have right now, as you know, I have only four products, and they're amped-up versions from perfect.
- 17:03SPEAKER_02: They're the must-have phaves, basically.
- 17:06SPEAKER_02: And what I really want to do is grow this very strong foundation because really everybody should have these products, you know.
- 17:15SPEAKER_02: It doesn't matter your color, it doesn't matter your age, you know.
- 17:21SPEAKER_02: It doesn't, you know, like we have a huge mature women and men audience that follows us because the the product doesn't settle, you know.
- 17:30SPEAKER_02: I'm in my 50s, it doesn't settle in the fine lines, you know.
- 17:33SPEAKER_02: I wear it every day.
- 17:34SPEAKER_02: It doesn't, you know, the wrinkles, it just kind of blurs, you know, makes you look younger.
- 17:38SPEAKER_02: That's that's what I really like.
- 17:40SPEAKER_02: So what I really want to do is with these four multitasking must-have vapes, is make these a household name.
- 17:49SPEAKER_02: I am wanting two products next year in spring of 2014, but I really don't want to say too much about them because like well, I I guess copying is a sincerest form of flattery.
- 18:05SPEAKER_02: I mean, I have the first to market.
- 18:08SPEAKER_02: I'm sorry, I'm sorry, what did you say?
- 18:10SPEAKER_00: No, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt you.
- 18:12SPEAKER_00: I said I get it because we live in a world of dupes.
- 18:14SPEAKER_00: I mean, let's be real, you know.
- 18:15SPEAKER_00: We really live in the world of dupes right now.
- 18:17SPEAKER_02: So yeah, well, I mean, back to perfect, I was always I always wore primers as a guy, you know, and because it because I I have acne scars, and you know, I I had the redness from the I had a really bad acne, as I told you earlier, and I took acne and all that.
- 18:32SPEAKER_02: But when I wore it just a clear primer, it would just make me look better, right?
- 18:36SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 18:36SPEAKER_02: The shine and the cores and the redness.
- 18:38SPEAKER_02: So I thought, what if we put a little color in that, you know, and maybe some skincare.
- 18:43SPEAKER_02: You know, it's kind of throughout the years of me being in the business, and then I was out there and I was like, oh my gosh, this is it.
- 18:50SPEAKER_02: This one product is gonna replace so many, the skin perfecting tint at High Beautiful U.
- 18:57SPEAKER_02: Right?
- 18:58unknown: Right.
- 18:58SPEAKER_02: Because you're still good.
- 19:00SPEAKER_02: I mean, you don't have to wear a foundation with it.
- 19:02SPEAKER_02: You can if you want to.
- 19:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 19:05SPEAKER_00: No, I don't think you you don't need to.
- 19:07SPEAKER_00: I mean, I think at the end of the day, um, you know, I've had this conversation also with like, you know, just makeup artists that are like, you know, on the road and they're always working with, you know, whatever, you know, their client bases, they're always talking about how, you know, from a like a the stand standpoint of a makeup artist and a pro artist, like you don't ever want to look like your skin isn't your skin, you know, you don't want that.
- 19:30SPEAKER_00: So at the end of the day, you know, if you are wearing cosmetics, um, obviously there's this whole idea of full glam.
- 19:37SPEAKER_00: I get it, you know, but realistically speaking, we don't all we don't live in that world.
- 19:42SPEAKER_00: I mean, I can't tell you the last time I did full glam, you know, like no hate, but I I mean for me as an average consumer, I literally need something that's going to work, it's going to stay on my skin the way I want it to, and I'm done.
- 19:54SPEAKER_00: You know, that's it.
- 19:55SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
- 19:56SPEAKER_02: And and we say that at High Beautiful U, too.
- 19:58SPEAKER_02: There's this is a non-judgment zone.
- 20:00SPEAKER_02: I mean, we actually say just be you from natural to glam, you know.
- 20:05SPEAKER_02: If you want to glam it out, I say go for it.
- 20:08SPEAKER_02: You know, there's there's no judgment.
- 20:09SPEAKER_02: You can do that, but it all starts with beautiful skin.
- 20:13SPEAKER_02: I've actually trademarked the you technology.
- 20:16SPEAKER_02: B you technology is all about you being you to be beautiful and to be comfortable in your own skin because the product is buildable, and that's the thing.
- 20:26SPEAKER_02: If you want more, you know, add more.
- 20:30SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 20:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's what I do.
- 20:31SPEAKER_02: I I actually mix it with the concealer from High Beautiful U.
- 20:36SPEAKER_02: I do about 20% of the conceal and about 80% of the skin tit.
- 20:40SPEAKER_02: I'm telling you, it takes 20 years off.
- 20:42SPEAKER_02: I look so I look good.
- 20:44SPEAKER_02: I have confidence, you know, and a lot of my clients are starting to catch on to that as well.
- 20:48SPEAKER_02: Get you a little bit more, right?
- 20:50SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 20:51SPEAKER_00: I think, and it's a it's always like a balance too, you know.
- 20:54SPEAKER_00: I feel like I like that you said that it's buildable because honestly, a lot of brands will like market that, but in reality, as someone who genuinely likes like buildable cosmetics, like I can tell you that's halftime as just marketing, like it's not buildable, you know, or it's too much in from the get-go, you know, for a lot of brands.
- 21:12SPEAKER_00: And I feel like, you know, you need to give that like autonomy to the consumer, you know.
- 21:16SPEAKER_00: And I feel like with your products, like that's what I said when I said in the beginning was that this when you try for everyone listening, when you try um, you know, the skin tint, for example, which we've been discussing, you'll notice that there's a lot of control, you know, that you have as an individual and and your taste, you know, it matters um what you like.
- 21:33SPEAKER_00: And so, and you don't need a crazy brush and you don't need a crazy sponge or whatever, you just need your fingers and it looks great.
- 21:40SPEAKER_00: You know, it's a great product, it goes on beautifully, it stays on.
- 21:44SPEAKER_00: And I feel like giving that autonomy to us and and trusting consumers, you know, after you've done your magic, like you created the magic, Richard, and now you're handing it off to us, like that's a huge thing for brands.
- 21:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 21:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 21:58SPEAKER_02: I'm sorry.
- 21:59SPEAKER_00: No, no, go.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: Go ahead, please elaborate.
- 22:01SPEAKER_02: No, I was just saying, you know, it's just like we were saying before, it's it's just it's just so easy, you know, and that's what's cool about handing it off.
- 22:08SPEAKER_02: You know, I don't get very many returns, you know.
- 22:11SPEAKER_02: Um, sometimes I'll get a return and the client will be like, Well, it's it's it's not covering.
- 22:17SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, it that's right, it doesn't cover.
- 22:20SPEAKER_02: It's not supposed to.
- 22:21SPEAKER_02: It perfects and it blurs.
- 22:23SPEAKER_02: But a lot of you know, some you know, especially some of my younger clients, they just you know, they're not confident enough yet, if you will, to maybe not wear the heavy foundation to show their skin.
- 22:34SPEAKER_02: So that's kind of been a mark that I'm really trying to uh educate that it's okay, right?
- 22:40SPEAKER_02: You know, just because maybe they have acne or whatever.
- 22:42SPEAKER_02: So um, so when you wear this product, it actually makes it look better.
- 22:46SPEAKER_02: Like sometimes when you try to cover, you know, bad skin.
- 22:49SPEAKER_02: Well, you know, I mean in your business, what you do, it looks worked, right?
- 22:54SPEAKER_02: Because it makes it look like you're trying to cover it or like a blemish on your skin, like a you know, whatever, you're using a concealer and you can see the concealer, it's it's just like, okay, stop.
- 23:03SPEAKER_02: I'd rather see the blemish, you know.
- 23:05SPEAKER_00: Well, or the cakiness, right?
- 23:07SPEAKER_00: Like I feel like if you have acne and you have like actual, like, you know, um, like for example, like a lot of I know a lot of uh, you know, skincare enthusiasts suffer from cystic acne, for example, right?
- 23:18SPEAKER_00: And covering up, like covering up cystic acne is a whole feat, like on its own.
- 23:23SPEAKER_00: Like you have to sit down and you have to really think about what you're using.
- 23:26SPEAKER_00: But I think a lot of times what I've also seen on social media is when you have a really great, like just tinted product that you can use on the go.
- 23:35SPEAKER_00: I mean, the amount of like confidence you have, just knowing like this is like my it's like my you know go-to.
- 23:42SPEAKER_00: If something fails, this is my this is gonna work.
- 23:45SPEAKER_00: It's my tried and true.
- 23:46SPEAKER_00: I can depend on this, I can count on it.
- 23:49SPEAKER_00: And that is a huge, like, I think for someone who's younger, it becomes a safety, you know, like in a lot of ways.
- 23:56SPEAKER_00: And I think that's so important now because, you know, when I look at the youth, especially on like social media.
- 24:00SPEAKER_00: I mean, Richard, I'm sure you've seen this, you know.
- 24:02SPEAKER_00: Remember when IG makeup blew up and everybody was making and everybody was right?
- 24:07SPEAKER_00: It's like a lot of people felt excluded.
- 24:10SPEAKER_00: And the reason was because we just didn't relate to it, you know what I mean?
- 24:13SPEAKER_00: But at the same time, it was like this movement also came out after that, where it was all about natural skin, you know.
- 24:20SPEAKER_00: So you had to find a balance in between.
- 24:23SPEAKER_00: It was like recreating what we shouldn't have had to create as consumers.
- 24:27SPEAKER_00: So when I look at your product with High Beautiful You, I see this like beautiful middle ground, you know, where it's like you're you're getting the best of both worlds, you know, you can do as you can go as heavy as you want, it's very buildable, it's very reliable and moldable, but it's something that you can use every day, you know, and it's that that's huge.
- 24:46SPEAKER_00: Like I can't stop that.
- 24:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 24:50SPEAKER_02: Well, and here's what's cool as well, which we haven't really talked about.
- 24:53SPEAKER_02: You know, if you do need coverage, there's no judgment, that's cool.
- 24:58SPEAKER_02: You can wear skin perfecting tint under as a beautiful primer, probably the most luxurious primer on the market, or on top of foundation, when you just pat it with your fingers, right?
- 25:14SPEAKER_02: And and kind of stipple it into your skin with the warmth of your hands, it makes your foundation look like skin and not makeup.
- 25:22SPEAKER_00: Yes, I love that.
- 25:24SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 25:24SPEAKER_00: Right, it's like a filter, it's like a filter.
- 25:27SPEAKER_02: That's what it says on the box.
- 25:33SPEAKER_00: That's that's the cool part about it.
- 25:35SPEAKER_00: And so, you know, I really want to ask you though, because I I like that you're, you know, like the whole brand, it's it's very like obviously, you know, um, self like positivity, you know, just positivity forward.
- 25:45SPEAKER_00: And I, you know, I'm curious, like, in terms of like, you know, what you think, like from all of your experience with perfect and now creating high beautiful you, like, um, if you were to, if someone were to come to you, and I'm sure many women have asked, you know, for for advice from your team about, you know, what is like the best, like kind of go-to makeup routine, right?
- 26:03SPEAKER_00: What would your bet like your advice be to anybody, you know, that were to ask you, like, what should I have in my toolkit for, you know, cosmetics?
- 26:11SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
- 26:12SPEAKER_02: I mean, you need you need the skin perfecting tint.
- 26:14SPEAKER_02: You need a primer, you need a skin tint, you need something that's easy, breezy, you know, everybody should have that in their, you know, in their arsenal.
- 26:22SPEAKER_02: I mean, I think that's number one.
- 26:23SPEAKER_02: I mean, you know, I mean, for me, for me it is over my exubian skincare as a NeoStrata company.
- 26:32SPEAKER_02: I always wear that first with SPF because I I I love uh a lot of their products, but I use I use a moisturizer for from Exuviance with SPF 30, left that dry, and tap this on top because there is no SPF in the product.
- 26:46SPEAKER_02: So why don't we say a good skincare product and your skin tint with SPF, right?
- 26:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 26:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 26:54SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 26:55SPEAKER_00: No, I think that like, you know, with SPF too, like that's another thing.
- 26:58SPEAKER_00: I'm actually glad you didn't put SPF in it because it makes it harder.
- 27:02SPEAKER_00: I don't know if it's true or not.
- 27:03SPEAKER_00: Maybe you can like correct me if I'm wrong, but like I feel like anytime I've tried a product that already has SPF, it just looks not right.
- 27:09SPEAKER_00: Like it looks just terrible on my skin.
- 27:12SPEAKER_00: I don't know if it's the same for everybody, but I can't use foundations that have built-in SPF, like it just does not work for me.
- 27:18SPEAKER_00: So I'm glad what's that?
- 27:21SPEAKER_02: Does it look streaky?
- 27:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and like I looks like you know, they always say that you get a white cast with certain like sunscreens, but like I swear every time I use like a foundation that's already got SPF, I get the white cast.
- 27:33SPEAKER_00: I don't know why.
- 27:34SPEAKER_00: I don't know if it's all in my head or if I'm making it up, but like it's literally every time.
- 27:40SPEAKER_00: So like I actually prefer that you did not put it in there because um I think it's important to be able to like put your SPF on, then be able to apply a product that's not gonna disrupt it, you know what I mean?
- 27:50SPEAKER_00: So yeah, I'm a huge fan of like just the formula, you know, because it really works with my skincare.
- 27:56SPEAKER_00: So I'm glad you mentioned that actually about the skincare aspect.
- 27:59SPEAKER_02: Fantastic because you know, I was working on a version with SPF and you nailed it.
- 28:05SPEAKER_02: It looked a little shocky or like it just still looked natural and it was streaking too.
- 28:11SPEAKER_02: It didn't, it changed the the quality and the integrity of the formulation with the SPF.
- 28:18SPEAKER_02: It wasn't as good, to be really quite frank.
- 28:20SPEAKER_02: It just didn't look as good, and it looked a little, you know, had a little like white undertone to it or something.
- 28:26SPEAKER_02: Must be the titanium Piazza.
- 28:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's the it's the minerals.
- 28:31SPEAKER_00: I'm telling you, it's it's something about it.
- 28:33SPEAKER_00: It just does not flow with makeup.
- 28:34SPEAKER_00: And I I'm that's actually a question I do have for you because you've had so much experience in the industry, and I've been curious about this for literally forever.
- 28:42SPEAKER_00: Is like when you're going to like, you know, to a lab, right, or manufacturing like you know, cosmetic products, what is like the real trick to getting a great formula?
- 28:52SPEAKER_00: Because I mean, I know everyone can relate to this.
- 28:55SPEAKER_00: Not all foundations are made the same, not all concealers are made the same, you know.
- 28:58SPEAKER_00: Like it's like you see a good concealer and then you're like, I can now tell the difference between a good and a terrible concealer.
- 29:05SPEAKER_00: So, like I'm always wondering, you know, from the skincare line aspect, I hear about it all day, right?
- 29:10SPEAKER_00: But like from the cosmetic standpoint, I I've never understood like where does the manufacturing go wrong, you know, or like what are some things you've noticed that, you know, maybe were standout to you that you know creates a not so ideal product?
- 29:24SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 29:24SPEAKER_02: That's a great question.
- 29:26SPEAKER_02: And you know, I I just launched uh Skin Perfecting Conceal uh six months ago, roughly.
- 29:34SPEAKER_02: And you know, it took me over two years to get that product right.
- 29:39SPEAKER_02: Wow, I would not go to market until it was beautiful, right?
- 29:45SPEAKER_02: Until it was perfect or perfect.
- 29:47SPEAKER_02: So no pun intended.
- 29:49SPEAKER_02: So I mean, I was driving the lab crazy because they send me, you know, they I'd send them feedback on the last submission, and I'd be like, no, failed, and here's why, right?
- 30:03SPEAKER_02: And then two weeks later, they send me another submission.
- 30:07SPEAKER_02: I mean, people who push and rush formulations, those are the ones that fail for a couple of reasons.
- 30:16SPEAKER_02: The integrity of the formulation could be compromised because they're rushing it.
- 30:21SPEAKER_02: Like if I had rushed my concealer, it would not be getting the five-star reviews, you know, that it's getting.
- 30:29SPEAKER_02: I know I was driving a lot of my clients crazy because they wanted it, but you know, it takes time to get a ride with my point.
- 30:36SPEAKER_02: Um, and and and if you rush formulation, sometimes you don't have time, you got to be careful with the combat compatibility with the component that it's in.
- 30:44SPEAKER_02: You know, that takes a year, you know, or more, depending on the formulation.
- 30:50SPEAKER_02: You've got to test the the formulation, you know, with the component to make sure it's compatible so it doesn't break down or you know, not pump, or um, I thought I've seen components in skincare like kind of disintegrate a little bit because of the ingredients on what's you know, what's in the formulation.
- 31:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like they fall apart, right?
- 31:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 31:12SPEAKER_02: But I think patience is is big and number two, or is this number three?
- 31:18SPEAKER_02: Um I don't remember, but I know I'm talking a lot.
- 31:23SPEAKER_02: Sorry.
- 31:23SPEAKER_00: But no, no, it's I mean that's really good feedback though.
- 31:26SPEAKER_00: I like that you said like what you said because it's like time in the market, right?
- 31:29SPEAKER_00: Like everyone says, like you have to give things time, like you know, make sure you're doing it right.
- 31:34SPEAKER_00: That makes sense.
- 31:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's gotta be right.
- 31:36SPEAKER_02: Well, and a lot of companies, and I've seen it because I I've worked for some really big ones.
- 31:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they just go to a factory, you know, the products are already made, and they'll say, you know, give me 10,000 or whatever of that, and they put it in their packaging.
- 31:51SPEAKER_02: Well, with five beautiful you formulations, they're as well as perfect, they're all made with love.
- 31:58SPEAKER_02: They're an idea that that I talk to makeup artists, I talk to clients.
- 32:04SPEAKER_02: I'm not that smart.
- 32:05SPEAKER_02: I mean, I couldn't figure everything out.
- 32:07SPEAKER_02: I talk to people, I'll admit it.
- 32:08SPEAKER_02: I mean, I guess one of my best ideas is brainstorming with people and I have a lot of friends in the industry.
- 32:13SPEAKER_02: And we brainstorm, we talk, and you know, out there working with clients, which I I kind of do miss that right now with My Beautiful You, because it's all online, you know, the industry has changed so much, as you know.
- 32:23SPEAKER_02: But I I they're all made with love, you know.
- 32:26SPEAKER_02: They there's there's no dupes, they're not, I don't, they're all different than anything, trust me.
- 32:32SPEAKER_02: That's the skin tint, the body bronzer, the mascara, which comes from Italy.
- 32:36SPEAKER_02: There's nothing like them on the market.
- 32:39SPEAKER_02: There's there is there's there's a marketing, you know, but whatever.
- 32:43SPEAKER_02: I they're just very original, made with love by me for you.
- 32:47SPEAKER_00: Is that corners?
- 32:48SPEAKER_00: No, I love that.
- 32:49SPEAKER_00: I think that's so needed.
- 32:51SPEAKER_00: Like, I feel like in this with in the industry right now, as a consumer, all I see is just a lot of people making a lot of products.
- 32:58SPEAKER_00: Like, I mean, how many times do us consumers we know like the month that we're in, this is the month that mascara launches, and this is the month that foundations launch, and you know, etc.
- 33:07SPEAKER_00: etc.
- 33:08SPEAKER_00: And I feel like we see that so much that it becomes redundant year after year, you know what I mean?
- 33:13SPEAKER_00: So, like when you have a product that you know has been made with love, you know it's been made with like you know, a more refined like eye, you know, and and that perspective, like it matters to us as consumers, you know, at the end of the day, because you put yourself into that as well, you know, as a consumer.
- 33:30SPEAKER_00: You start trusting it, you trust, you trust the vision and you trust the results, and and that matters more.
- 33:35SPEAKER_00: Like, I can tell you right now, Richard, like I've been using the same beauty products for the last decade in terms of the brands, and I don't shift a lot.
- 33:44SPEAKER_00: I really don't.
- 33:45SPEAKER_00: I mean, you know, there's things I will add into my, you know, obviously like my toolbox and toolkit, but I don't have to most of the time because if it works, it works.
- 33:55SPEAKER_00: I love your skin tint, you know what I mean?
- 33:56SPEAKER_00: It's the only skin tint I have.
- 33:58SPEAKER_00: Like I don't use other, I don't use skin tits.
- 34:01SPEAKER_00: I'm not a skin tint person because they've never really worked for me.
- 34:04SPEAKER_00: But I did really love it when I first tried it.
- 34:06SPEAKER_00: And for me as a consumer, I don't know about everybody else, but for me with cosmetics, it's like if it works, done.
- 34:12SPEAKER_00: Okay, you're going in and you're never coming back out.
- 34:14SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 34:15SPEAKER_00: In terms of I'm never replacing you with anything else.
- 34:18SPEAKER_00: So I think that matters, and I think that matters more than marketing and more than hype and more than anything else, because right now that's all we see as consumers.
- 34:26SPEAKER_00: I mean, every time I get on TikTok, there's a new mascara launch.
- 34:28SPEAKER_00: It's crazy.
- 34:30SPEAKER_02: It's a doctor.
- 34:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 34:32SPEAKER_00: So, you know, with that in mind, I actually want your advice, you know, for like the all these entrepreneurs out here, because I think you know, it your products are amazing.
- 34:41SPEAKER_00: I mean, I think anyone, as soon as you try them, you're gonna fall in love because the quality is there, right?
- 34:46SPEAKER_00: And that's something you can't just do.
- 34:48SPEAKER_00: You can't just immediately go into this industry and say, here we go, I made a you know, a slamming, you know, product, everyone's gonna love it.
- 34:56SPEAKER_00: So I want your advice, you know, because every day I see a new kid saying, I want to be an entrepreneur, I want to be a brand founder, and that's great.
- 35:03SPEAKER_00: But what does it really take to be successful in this industry?
- 35:09SPEAKER_02: I'm sorry, you just can't give up.
- 35:10SPEAKER_02: You don't you don't give up.
- 35:12SPEAKER_02: But to your point about what you were saying, you're still on point.
- 35:16SPEAKER_02: You know, during COVID, I feel like the beauty industry changed so much.
- 35:21SPEAKER_02: It had started before, right?
- 35:24SPEAKER_02: With TikTok and, you know, the influencers and all of that.
- 35:28SPEAKER_02: But I feel like so many brands, and correct me if you don't agree, I just like so many brands popped up during COVID.
- 35:35SPEAKER_02: It was crazy.
- 35:36SPEAKER_02: I it's crazy.
- 35:37SPEAKER_02: I mean, there's so many brands right now, and there's so many Me To's, you know, and I don't know.
- 35:42SPEAKER_02: I mean, the consumers have to be exhausted because it's so much.
- 35:46SPEAKER_02: There's so many brands on the market.
- 35:48SPEAKER_02: And my advice, because I really feel the industry is so oversaturated right now.
- 35:55SPEAKER_02: If you don't have a unique point of difference, right, or or or some breakthrough ingredient, I'd really think twice about launching a beauty or skincare brand right now.
- 36:07SPEAKER_02: Because you were just talking about, I mean, how many shades of lipsticks are there when you walk and support both, you know, where do you start?
- 36:16SPEAKER_02: Right?
- 36:17SPEAKER_00: Exactly, exactly.
- 36:18SPEAKER_00: That's so true.
- 36:19SPEAKER_00: It's true, and you know what's crazy is like it comes down to like, well, what brand do I want to support today?
- 36:24SPEAKER_00: You know, it's like, yeah, yeah, yeah, totally.
- 36:28SPEAKER_02: I could not agree more.
- 36:29SPEAKER_02: And I'll tell you what, I had perfect uh I would get pressure from the retailers as well, which makes sense.
- 36:35SPEAKER_02: I was a retailer, you know, before I got into beauty, you know, and a brand founder.
- 36:41SPEAKER_02: Um, there's pressure to make the numbers, and newness can usually bring in numbers, and I would get a lot of pressure from the retailers, and I don't have that right now.
- 36:49SPEAKER_02: So I have to say that's that's kind of refreshing, but I do miss the stores working with clients.
- 36:54SPEAKER_02: It's working with the clients that I miss.
- 36:57SPEAKER_00: Well, I mean, I would love to see you in like a Sephora because you have amazing products.
- 37:01SPEAKER_00: I literally the other day I was in the I was in Sephora and I was like looking at a lot of different products, and it was what you were saying earlier.
- 37:08SPEAKER_00: And actually, I let me just say, like, you know, with the lipstick thing, you have I mean, you really like got me there because I was looking at one shade, Richard.
- 37:17SPEAKER_00: I kid you not, it was like a mauve shade, mauvey brown, right?
- 37:23SPEAKER_00: It was like 10 lipsticks, like 10 of them.
- 37:25SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, okay, what brand do I want to support?
- 37:30SPEAKER_00: What brand am I voting for today with my dollars?
- 37:32SPEAKER_00: Like, I it was crazy, and so I hear you, and I feel like that's what the youth needs to really hear more, is what your advice, like what you said here, because I think you're right, you're so right.
- 37:43SPEAKER_00: Because at the end of the day, if I can't differentiate you from another brand, that makes you completely like redundant, you know?
- 37:50SPEAKER_00: And so it's like almost like this innovative process, and you know, it's kind of like what you said, you know, it took you two years to create one product and to perfect it to what you like.
- 37:59SPEAKER_00: I mean, I don't think there's enough people thinking like that at all, you know.
- 38:03SPEAKER_00: So yeah, I I just think that's everybody wants it tomorrow, you know, and back to the whole lipstick conversation.
- 38:08SPEAKER_02: If I could regress for a little bit, I have to tell you the story because before I had Perfect, as you know, I worked for other brands.
- 38:16SPEAKER_02: And my mother, who was, I think she was 80 something, well, she was in her late 70s then at the time, she was helping me set up a big makeup kit, you know, that we use at events with all the products in it.
- 38:28SPEAKER_02: And she was putting the lipsticks in, and she was looking at the colors, and she was like, I am so confused.
- 38:36SPEAKER_02: Are these different are these different or the same?
- 38:39SPEAKER_02: And so I turned over, and of course, they had different really cute names, but I was like, Oh my god, and that was another aha moment that I had.
- 38:47SPEAKER_02: It's way too much sometimes, right?
- 38:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 38:51SPEAKER_00: No, I had to tell you that story, so I love that.
- 38:54SPEAKER_00: No, she's right.
- 38:55SPEAKER_00: I mean, I mean, I kid you not, like, remember when red lipstick, no one had a good red lipstick, and then all of a sudden Mac came out with Ruby Vu, and like everyone was like, This is it, this is the red, you know, this is the right red lipstick, and then everyone copied that same red color, and it was like, oh god, you know, now I have 50,000 Ruby Vuos everywhere, you know.
- 39:16SPEAKER_00: So it's it's the same idea.
- 39:17SPEAKER_00: I feel like we have an industry, we do that a lot as an industry.
- 39:21SPEAKER_00: I feel like we, you know, it's like you see a great product, and then it's like what you said, you know, you don't want anyone to copy it, but it's like it's inevitable, you know.
- 39:28SPEAKER_00: I feel like once a good product comes out, everyone wants to create it.
- 39:30SPEAKER_00: But at the end of the day, how many units are you really gonna sell?
- 39:33SPEAKER_00: You know, going back to that point that you had made, like you better have a great idea because if you're just creating a brand that's gonna be a dupe brand, I mean, how really like how many years are you gonna be a brand?
- 39:43SPEAKER_00: Because at the end of the day, it's it's about innovation.
- 39:46SPEAKER_02: So right, it really is.
- 39:48SPEAKER_02: It's it's about innovation, it's about cool, it's about new, good new, you know, not the the me too new.
- 39:55SPEAKER_02: Um, so yeah, it's it's really interesting just to see so much clutter out there, you know, in the marketplace.
- 40:02SPEAKER_02: Um something something made me think of this when you were just speaking.
- 40:06SPEAKER_02: Oh, there's a point of difference in the whole duping thing, right?
- 40:10SPEAKER_02: So I don't know if you know this or not, but all of my products are anhydrous, means they're water-free, right?
- 40:17SPEAKER_02: Except for the mascara.
- 40:18SPEAKER_02: And I think that's an issue sometimes because my they're very expensive to make all my formulations, because they're all pure concentrated formulations, and sometimes other brands they have to like water it down because of the cost, and that's fine, right?
- 40:38SPEAKER_02: So that's a point of difference.
- 40:40SPEAKER_02: That's you know, if you look, if you look on you know the products in your vanity, I bet at at least 70-80 percent, they're all water, number one ingredient.
- 40:51SPEAKER_00: So yeah, there's always in foundation, especially, it's always water, yeah.
- 40:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, and a lot of brands they just can't afford to do that, it's very expensive to do.
- 40:59SPEAKER_00: See, I knew there was something because I was like, why like like I was like, there's just something.
- 41:04SPEAKER_00: That's why I asked you that question about the manufacturing.
- 41:06SPEAKER_00: Because I was like, there is just you know, it's either magical or it's not, and you're so right.
- 41:10SPEAKER_00: It's all there's always water, and that's where that you know, we were talking earlier about the separation thing.
- 41:14SPEAKER_00: I can't stand it when I see that right.
- 41:16SPEAKER_00: I don't care how much I love a brand, Richard.
- 41:18SPEAKER_00: If I see that separation happen immediately as a consumer, I'm like, I don't like you anymore.
- 41:24SPEAKER_00: Like I feel like you're you know, yeah, like I feel like you're stealing from me, you know what I mean?
- 41:28SPEAKER_00: In a way, it's weird.
- 41:29SPEAKER_00: Like, I hate that.
- 41:30SPEAKER_00: So I think that it's like that's so crazy.
- 41:33SPEAKER_00: That's cool.
- 41:34SPEAKER_00: That's really cool that you have anhydrous formulas.
- 41:36SPEAKER_00: That's I mean, it must be, yeah, really expensive because that's really concentrated.
- 41:40SPEAKER_02: Think about it, right?
- 41:41SPEAKER_02: You know, it's just it's just and that's why all my products look smaller, they're all PSA approved as well, because you know, it's concentrated, you know, the body product's three ounces, but it lasts, you know, I like to say it's seasoned.
- 41:53SPEAKER_02: But what's interesting about the whole water-free uh move.
- 41:58SPEAKER_02: Well, just so you know, the mascara does have water.
- 42:00SPEAKER_02: I don't want anybody listening to take their all water-free.
- 42:03SPEAKER_02: The the mascara is the only one with water in it, okay?
- 42:06SPEAKER_02: But you have to with that product, or I had to anyway.
- 42:09SPEAKER_02: But with the water free, now just think about this.
- 42:11SPEAKER_02: It can you, you know, it's it's all concentrated, so it's gonna boost the performance of the formulation, right?
- 42:16SPEAKER_02: Because it's not diluted as well.
- 42:20SPEAKER_02: You know what I'm saying?
- 42:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and it's gonna be actually like more bang for your buck at the end of the day.
- 42:25SPEAKER_00: And you're getting a really good product that is not fluff, there's no fluff.
- 42:31SPEAKER_00: I mean, in skincare, we talk about this all day long, you know, about the whole idea of like, well, if half your inky list is just you know, fluff, you're not getting anything.
- 42:39SPEAKER_00: But with makeup, especially, I mean, if your foundation's breaking apart one month into you having it or your you know, your skin tone, why do you even have it?
- 42:48SPEAKER_00: You're gonna replace it.
- 42:49SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 42:49SPEAKER_00: It's never gonna perform the same again.
- 42:51SPEAKER_00: So, yeah, that's amazing that you did that.
- 42:53SPEAKER_00: I'm glad you did that because we don't see that a lot.
- 42:56SPEAKER_02: You don't, you don't, and it's also good for the environment as well, because we're not using water in the formulation.
- 43:03SPEAKER_02: And like for the body product, the manufacturer doesn't even use water, you know, when they make it.
- 43:08SPEAKER_02: And so we're saving water and everything is smaller, so there's less trash, like less plot, right?
- 43:13SPEAKER_02: You get it's smaller, so it's there's less, you know, waste.
- 43:18SPEAKER_00: I think I think it's also good in terms of like the science perspective, too, because we grow bacteria in anything that has water, so like you're gonna, it's just gonna go bad quicker.
- 43:28SPEAKER_00: Like, let's be honest.
- 43:29SPEAKER_00: Like, that's the end all be all.
- 43:32SPEAKER_00: You know, so many people have acne right now and like skin conditions, inflammation, sensitive skin.
- 43:37SPEAKER_00: And if you guys ever wonder, you know, why sometimes when you are using your products, they're working great in the beginning, and then all of a sudden you're breaking out from them, probably because they've gone bad.
- 43:47SPEAKER_00: It's probably because of bacterial growth, you know what I mean?
- 43:49SPEAKER_00: So like and hydrants, you don't have to worry about that really.
- 43:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 43:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 43:54SPEAKER_02: Well, that's that's yeah, that's so interesting because you know I talk about that all the time.
- 44:00SPEAKER_02: You know, it breeds microorganisms, and you know, that's why if there's water, you have to add a preservative.
- 44:06SPEAKER_02: So my products, you know, except the mascara, they're all preservative free, which is good as well.
- 44:12SPEAKER_02: There could be good and bad preservatives, as you know.
- 44:15SPEAKER_00: So um, or preservatives, but also, you know, another thing too, David.
- 44:19SPEAKER_00: Like, uh like uh sorry, Richard, I'm gonna cut that out.
- 44:22SPEAKER_00: My colleague, sorry.
- 44:24SPEAKER_00: Um, I'm you know, I wanted to say like one more thing that I really like is that because you are TSA approved, you don't have the giant bottles.
- 44:32SPEAKER_00: It's also at the same time you're able to pop it in your purse, you're able to go anywhere you want with it.
- 44:38SPEAKER_00: And for me with cosmetics, um, I literally can't stand like big, bulky glass bottles of stuff.
- 44:45SPEAKER_00: Like I don't know.
- 44:46SPEAKER_00: I know there's a lot of people out there who love that, you know, and that's fine.
- 44:49SPEAKER_00: No judgment, like you said earlier, you know, it's fine, whatever you love.
- 44:53SPEAKER_00: But I think that there's a lot of um, you know, there's a lot there, you know, when you can say a product is something you can always have with you.
- 45:01SPEAKER_00: And I think it's it speaks a lot, you know, about the quality of something when you can say that.
- 45:06SPEAKER_00: And I think that for me as a consumer, it's something I look for.
- 45:09SPEAKER_00: And I think with all of the launches, all the clutter in the industry, like you just need more of that.
- 45:15SPEAKER_00: So I love that.
- 45:16SPEAKER_00: And I think that you know, you're also allowed to use it.
- 45:19SPEAKER_00: Like if you can finish a product, I would love to see more empty videos.
- 45:23SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 45:24SPEAKER_00: Like, here are all my empties from September, those kind of videos, if you know what I mean.
- 45:27SPEAKER_00: Like, I haven't seen those videos in forever because we're buying so much stuff, you know, and it's like, why?
- 45:33SPEAKER_00: Like, why are we doing that?
- 45:35SPEAKER_00: So I like that you've made it besides that you've made it, yeah.
- 45:38SPEAKER_02: Well, thank you.
- 45:39SPEAKER_02: Like you said, you can, you know, you can have your purse, your gym bag, your you know, what whatever, your pocket.
- 45:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I mean it travels anywhere, you know.
- 45:48SPEAKER_02: They're not you're not gonna lose it at the airport for GSA.
- 45:51SPEAKER_02: And but more importantly, it's just easy, easy breezy, right?
- 45:56SPEAKER_00: Exactly, exactly.
- 45:57SPEAKER_00: No, I absolutely love it and I love the whole line.
- 46:00SPEAKER_00: High Beautiful You is a really, really great line, Richard.
- 46:02SPEAKER_00: And I can't I can't thank you enough for you know coming onto the show, for sharing your vision with us.
- 46:08SPEAKER_00: I mean, perfect will always be absolutely perfect, you know, no pun intended, but at least it feels so perfect.
- 46:16SPEAKER_00: I I mean it's it was a it was a truly iconic, uh, iconic brand.
- 46:20SPEAKER_00: And you've really and I see it, you know, in High Beautiful U, I see the same excellence, it's there.
- 46:25SPEAKER_00: And for everyone listening, like if you're looking for truly like try, true, dependable cosmetics, like you need to try this brand.
- 46:33SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's you're gonna love it.
- 46:35SPEAKER_00: And especially when it comes to like concealer and just a really great skin tint that can be double as a foundation, it's like really, really great.
- 46:42SPEAKER_00: Like you're gonna be able to use it every day.
- 46:44SPEAKER_00: Your skin's gonna love it, you're not gonna break out from it.
- 46:46SPEAKER_00: I have not had a single breakout when I've been using it and utilizing it.
- 46:50SPEAKER_00: So I'm really obsessed with that because I usually always break out.
- 46:53SPEAKER_00: It's very rare for me to not break out when I try new cosmetics.
- 46:56SPEAKER_00: So I think I mean the that speaks very highly for me as a consumer.
- 47:00SPEAKER_00: And so I really want everyone to check it out.
- 47:02SPEAKER_00: There are, you know, like the line is very tight right now, and I love that because every product is amazing and like it shows, you know, everything that the work and the love that's gone into it, it really shows because every single one is a home run.
- 47:15SPEAKER_00: So thank you so much, Richard.
- 47:16SPEAKER_00: And it's been such an honor to watch.

- 47:28SPEAKER_02: I'm honored.
- 47:29SPEAKER_00: Thank you so much.
