Transcript
- 0:04Welcome everybody to Mom St. USA.
- 0:06My name is Jackie AKA Wishes Mama, and joining me is my
- 0:10wonderful Co host. Kate AKA the Disney.
- 0:12Cisrone and This is our first podcast episode of 2024 which is
- 0:18super exciting and we've got a pretty fun topic for you all
- 0:22Today. We are going to be talking about
- 0:24how to make your resolutions a little Disney themed Disney fie
- 0:29them a little bit so to speak and also talking about some
- 0:32bucket list items for visiting the Disney parks.
- 0:34So Kate, how's it going in 2024? It's good.
- 0:38The year started off great so far and I'm I'm excited for
- 0:40everything that's to come. I spent like 2 hours booking all
- 0:44of my vacations, vacations, my work trips to Disney for the
- 0:47year. So I'm very excited to have a
- 0:50lot of those done and I'm I'm, it's really interesting because
- 0:53you know, I think that you and I have have talked about this,
- 0:56that we wrestle a little bit with the idea of resolutions and
- 0:59like everybody, I think statistically people drop the
- 1:02resolutions by like February 15th is when they stop doing
- 1:05them or stop working towards them.
- 1:08So you know, I like the idea of this is like some of this like
- 1:11it's resolutions but it's also like bucket list items.
- 1:13It's kind of like thinking about things that you would love to do
- 1:17at Disney or integrating new fun new Disney things into your life
- 1:21at home. So it's not just going to the
- 1:22parks because we know not all of us can afford that right now and
- 1:25we get that right. So, So I love that you kind of
- 1:30came up with this idea and I thought it was so clever.
- 1:33And so do you want to kind of introduce us into our first
- 1:36topic? Yeah.
- 1:37So basically what I've done and Kate has contributed as well is
- 1:41we've kind of taken some of the typical resolutions that maybe
- 1:46you hear people talk about. These are by no means an end all
- 1:50be all list of different resolutions that people have.
- 1:52These are just kind of ones that themes that tend to be thrown
- 1:55around when you're looking at New Year's resolutions and we
- 1:59just, we put a Disney spin on them.
- 2:00So we're going to talk about several of these resolutions and
- 2:04how you can Disney fie them. That's just like the term that I
- 2:07keep using for all of this. I think it's fun.
- 2:10So we're going to talk about all of those and maybe something
- 2:13will apply to a goal that you've set or resolution that you've
- 2:17set, If that's something that you like to do and obviously no
- 2:22shade or anything to people who don't set resolutions.
- 2:24There's lots of different ways you can go about the new year.
- 2:28That's totally fine. Yeah.
- 2:30If you're feeling overwhelmed in general with life and you're
- 2:33like, I can't, this is like one more stress that I can't take.
- 2:35Like, that's OK Like, don't feel the pressure.
- 2:38This is, this is pressure free zone.
- 2:40This is all fun. Yeah, this is like, how can you
- 2:43add a little bit more fun and magic into your goals,
- 2:45resolutions and your year? So that's what we're doing.
- 2:48Absolutely. So let's jump into the first
- 2:50one. I think this is probably one of
- 2:53those resolutions goals themes that we see the most frequently
- 2:59I would say and that is something along the lines of
- 3:03exercising more, getting in shape, losing weight if that's
- 3:07your goal, being healthier, any of those types of in that
- 3:11category. So a couple things to make that
- 3:16kind of a little bit more fun in Disney.
- 3:20Obviously the big one we'll talk about first right off the bat is
- 3:23run Disney. That exists for those of us or
- 3:28those of you who maybe enjoy. This I've.
- 3:33Done one run Disney event in my life.
- 3:36It was a long time ago, but we walk Disney.
- 3:39I walk. I do a lot to walking.
- 3:42That's true. So run Disney events for anybody
- 3:45who maybe is not familiar with them are 5K's, 10K's half
- 3:50marathons, marathons that are sanctioned by Disney on Disney
- 3:53property, they do take place on in both Disney World and
- 3:58Disneyland. Disney World tends to have more
- 4:00often runs. I think they just they have more
- 4:03space to do them where it's not like the same course over and
- 4:07over again. You've got less space kind of to
- 4:09do that in Disneyland. So Disney World tends to have
- 4:13more, but a couple of things that are still that are actually
- 4:17coming up fairly soon. If that's something that you're
- 4:19like, I want to start my year off by doing it.
- 4:22Props to you. The there are a couple of
- 4:26virtual races, actually several virtual races that they have, so
- 4:29that is a really nice option. If you're like I can't get to
- 4:32the parks to physically run in the parks, there are several
- 4:36virtual options that you can do. You still have to like pay the
- 4:39registration fee, but then they will like mail you your
- 4:43hardware, like your metal or whatever, which I think is super
- 4:45fun. I did one of these like a series
- 4:48of these during the pandemic when everything was closed down
- 4:52and it was super fun to get those medals in the mail.
- 4:54I was like, yay. I would be like, I'd sign up for
- 4:58it and then I'd forget and then I would be like, and then they'd
- 5:01send me a medal and then I'd have that guilt and then just
- 5:03didn't do it. So that's how that would go down
- 5:07and that's why I haven't done it.
- 5:09That's also fair, completely valid.
- 5:11So if you're someone who's like, oh man, I really want to do
- 5:13this, like in your gung ho and you're ready to go, the Virtual
- 5:17race for the Disney Princess Half Marathon is actually still
- 5:21half Marathon weekend is still available.
- 5:24So that oh, I just looked at my date that I wrote on here and I
- 5:27wrote the 23rd through the 35th. That's not.
- 5:29Right 35th, 3030, fifth. Yeah, that's really wrong.
- 5:39But that Princess Half Marathon weekend is February 23rd through
- 5:43the 25th, so you can actually register for that on the Run
- 5:47Disney website. It is a separate website from
- 5:50like your typical Disney World website.
- 5:53If you do a quick Google for Run Disney, it'll pop right up if
- 5:56you're looking for it. So that registration is open
- 5:59now. And also the Springtime Surprise
- 6:02virtual race, which the Springtime Surprise takes place
- 6:05April 19th through the 21st that is also available now.
- 6:09So there are three virtual races.
- 6:12I don't. Is there the surprises?
- 6:14We don't know what the surprise. Is I don't.
- 6:17Know I never thought about the name until you just asked.
- 6:21So I got nothing. The surprise is you'll get in
- 6:24shape or not, depending. Surprises if you finish or not,
- 6:27I guess. No, no, I'm not really sure.
- 6:31But anyway, all three of those virtual races are like
- 6:35registration is now open. Now, the physical in person
- 6:38races for those three weekends are no longer available to
- 6:41register for. So the thing about run Disney,
- 6:45when you're not looking at the virtual side of things recently,
- 6:48especially some of these races can be really tricky to get
- 6:52registered for because there is such a large portion of the run
- 6:56community that enjoys doing these Disney races so.
- 7:02Well, and they all dress up. That's like the best part.
- 7:05They have like they have costume standards so you have to be
- 7:07careful not to like go out of those.
- 7:09But like the costumes are the my favorite part of this event.
- 7:12Everybody gets themed costumes so great.
- 7:15They're super fun. Absolutely.
- 7:17So there are a couple coming up that you have that are in person
- 7:22that you have to register for. Again, I will warn you they can
- 7:26be really tricky to register for them.
- 7:28So just like, prepare your. Be on your game, Yeah, in 2024.
- 7:35And like have a backup plan like if you want to do the 10K make
- 7:39sure you have like a backup plan of you want to do the 5K or the
- 7:42half or you know what I mean like have have a couple options
- 7:45would be my suggestion but there is oh I forgot a virtual I'm
- 7:50sorry my bad there is just a whole virtual race coming up for
- 7:54all of run Disney too that is taking place June 1st through
- 7:57August 31st. I'm yeah, So that registration
- 8:02ends March 26th. So it's open now, but it and it
- 8:05goes, it's open all the way until March 26th.
- 8:08Now, I'll be honest, I don't know how frequently these
- 8:11virtual races sell out. I don't know if Disney caps it
- 8:16because they still provide the medals and everything.
- 8:18So I would assume there's a cap to them.
- 8:20But I will be honest with you, I'm not exactly sure what that
- 8:22is. Yeah, I don't know either.
- 8:25So if someone knows and can tell us, that'd be great, but if not,
- 8:29make sure you register sooner rather than later.
- 8:31More moral of the story, but there are a couple coming up in
- 8:35person. A new this year is Disneyland is
- 8:39doing a Halloween half marathon in September, so that is
- 8:45September 5th through the 8th, and they're the registration for
- 8:49that is on February 13th. So that is one that you have to
- 8:52be like on your computer on the 13th, ready to go right when it
- 8:56opens up, so that way you can get registered for that one.
- 9:00I have a question from Rhonda. Is there any Walt Disney events?
- 9:03Like a serious one? I made a joke about it but I
- 9:05don't. I don't think so 5.
- 9:08K's are like Walker friendly. That's what I was going to say
- 9:11is like some of the ones that are lower, I think you can just
- 9:14walk and they they're not going to be like you're not running.
- 9:17Yes, you know, so. That, like the 5K's and maybe
- 9:21even the 10K's are a little more lenient if you have a quick
- 9:25walking pace, but there there's nothing like specifically set
- 9:32for fast walking or walking through those that I know of.
- 9:36Yeah, Margaret and her chat says.
- 9:38You just have to be in front of the balloon ladies, so you just
- 9:40can't go so slow that like you're behind the end of the
- 9:44race, so to speak. Yes, yeah, absolutely.
- 9:46With that and Disney dad bought over here is saying there's no
- 9:50cap to the virtual. So good, excellent.
- 9:55Yeah, so there you go. And yeah, Taylor saying the 5K
- 9:57is family and Walker friendly. The rest you have to have a 16
- 10:00per minute, 16 minute per mile pace.
- 10:04Excellent. See, we always know somebody's
- 10:06going to know that. Well, and they give you some
- 10:09leniency in these races because there are characters along the
- 10:12way. So they give you some time
- 10:14because they they anticipate that people are going to stop
- 10:16and have to wait in some lines to get character photos.
- 10:20Yeah, 'cause they actually pull out some really cool, unique
- 10:22characters for all of these. So yeah, sometimes you get to go
- 10:27kind of like behind the scenes, too, and like the backstage
- 10:29areas that you run through. So that's always really fun.
- 10:32Yeah, super, super fun. So that is the Disneyland
- 10:37Halloween Half Marathon. A standard one that we've had
- 10:40for years is the Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon that is
- 10:43October 31st through November 3rd.
- 10:46And I saw that date and I was like, on Halloween, the parks
- 10:52are going to be so busy. Oh yeah, And the traffic's going
- 10:56to be bad, yeah. So be warned.
- 10:58If you're going over Halloween, be warned.
- 11:02Anytime there's yeah, anytime there is a Run Disney event too,
- 11:06even if you're not participating in a run Disney event, you know
- 11:08that the traffic is going to be bad.
- 11:09There's going to be roads that are probably blocked off and
- 11:12it's there's going to be extra crowds in the parks as well for
- 11:15that that time. So just keep that in it in
- 11:17account. So these dates are important
- 11:19even if you're not participating in a Run Disney event.
- 11:22Yes. And the registration for the
- 11:25wine and dine is March 12th, so that is 1 to keep in mind in
- 11:30your calendar if you're interested in that.
- 11:31Didn't say what time these began, did we?
- 11:34Did you look that up? I know it's like the
- 11:36registration, is that the no. Like the time, I think for the
- 11:39races. So most of the races, you have
- 11:42to be in your corral, like within the 4:00 AM hour.
- 11:46And they all happen before Park open.
- 11:49Yeah. So, like, you'll be like, you
- 11:51run through the parks, but you're out of the parks by Park
- 11:54open. Yeah.
- 11:56So it's kind of a middle of the night kind of a thing.
- 11:59So Yep, Yep. Waking up at 23 AM to get there
- 12:04on time. Yeah.
- 12:05Yeah, it's a thing. It's a it's a thing.
- 12:07I would just stay up. I just wouldn't go to bed.
- 12:11Yeah, you got to you got to make that decision, right?
- 12:14Like, do you stay up, or do you attempt to get your body to go
- 12:17to bed early enough to make it worth it?
- 12:19Yeah, I just don't do it. Problem solved.
- 12:22Just kidding. I would probably do a virtual
- 12:24one if I could just walk it. I think that's really fun, no?
- 12:27Yeah, absolutely. So then there's a whole set of
- 12:30virtual 12 K's that are coming up in December that are called
- 12:34the 12 K's of Christmas, which I think is really fun.
- 12:39So it's literally a whole set of them that happened throughout
- 12:42the month of December that you have to register by July 9th for
- 12:45that set. And then new this year they did
- 12:50a Coast to Coast challenge, which I think is super fun.
- 12:53Now they've done variations of this in the past, but this year
- 12:58in 2024 if you complete any 10 mile race or longer at both
- 13:03Disney World and Disneyland in the same calendar year, you will
- 13:07receive a Run Disney Coast to Coast Race Challenge medal.
- 13:12Oh, that's cool. Yeah, I love that.
- 13:14Yeah. So there's lots of more details
- 13:16about that on the Run Disney website as far as like which
- 13:20races qualify. And like I said, it has to be 10
- 13:22miles or more. So like, they have some that are
- 13:24like 10 milers, you know? So like, you got to go and look
- 13:27at the details for that. And I do know that it's not like
- 13:30a separate like registration, it's like an automatic.
- 13:35Oh, that's neat. Thing that they like just give
- 13:37to you. So that is super fun with that
- 13:41one. So then, so I think that's, I
- 13:44think that's all of them. The website had a lot of like
- 13:47also 2025 and I kept writing down the wrong date, so I was
- 13:49like, wait, that's not 2024, but they're also earning it.
- 13:54Listen. But there's also 2025 dates that
- 13:58have been released too. So if you know that you're not
- 14:00going to make it to the parks in 2024, but when I'm playing for
- 14:022025, those dates are all on like the home page of Run
- 14:06Disney. So you can find them on there if
- 14:08you're looking for those dates. That's awesome.
- 14:10It's a great time of year too. Like everybody's kind of, you
- 14:13know, working off the holiday calories and getting in shape
- 14:16and whatnot and and having those resolutions.
- 14:18So that's a fun one. I did add a couple of thoughts.
- 14:21See the exercise, more resolution, how you can make it
- 14:24more Disney fied. As for using that word, one is
- 14:29making a Disney playlist for a walk at home.
- 14:31So either if you're doing going on a treadmill, if you're at the
- 14:34gym, or if you're, you know, walking in neighborhood or
- 14:36wherever you're walking, making your own kind of Disney playlist
- 14:39that you know matches your pace and whatnot.
- 14:41And and then it's like it's a fun little extra way to have
- 14:44some music you love while you're doing that.
- 14:47And along those same lines, walk or run on a treadmill and you
- 14:51can watch Disney streamers or you do depending on what you
- 14:55want to, you know, today and who's around and all those kinds
- 14:57of things. But you can watch that, you
- 14:59know, videos at the park. So it's kind of like you're
- 15:00walking or running through the parks as you're as you're doing
- 15:03that. So that's just in a little extra
- 15:04fun way of of making a little extra Disney magic magic while
- 15:09you're getting steps in. And the other thing that I was
- 15:12actually looking up and this is inspired, this has a back story.
- 15:14I'm sorry, this is inspired by me scrolling TikTok at like 3:00
- 15:20AM when I should be sleeping, like we all do sometimes.
- 15:23And there was, I don't know, some girls or something that
- 15:27were doing the some sort of dance like every day to like get
- 15:30fit. And it was the one of those,
- 15:31like, just yeah, I for sure got myself off of the chair to do it
- 15:38with them and like, nearly died by the end of it.
- 15:40But. That that's just hard.
- 15:43It is. Hard.
- 15:44I did like a modified version because I'm old, but it was, it
- 15:47was fun, you know, and it's free and nobody saw me.
- 15:50But I was like, gosh, this is such a great idea.
- 15:52So many people have posted that was like just if you don't own
- 15:56the game or anything, like they've posted the Just Dance on
- 15:58YouTube and there's a lot of Disney ones, so you can just.
- 16:02Find search on YouTube for Disney Just Dance and just have
- 16:05fun dancing and it's a fun one to do with your kids too and
- 16:08kids really love doing that one. So yeah, so additional tangent.
- 16:12When I taught, when I used to teach music, one of like we
- 16:17would do like Fun Fridays on occasion and I would take in
- 16:20like my old like the original Wii with the like with the
- 16:23controllers and on my board we would do Just Dance.
- 16:29And I had two different Disney games that I would take because
- 16:31I knew that they would be like school appropriate for the kids
- 16:34to be able to do. And we would that was part of
- 16:37their Fun Fridays as we would like through the class we would
- 16:40take turns doing the Wii and doing Just Dance.
- 16:42So it's great and it was super fun and they loved it because
- 16:46like they got to do it on the big board in the in in my
- 16:49classroom. It was.
- 16:50It was good times. No, I love that.
- 16:53That's great. That's so.
- 16:55That's a great one. I love that idea.
- 16:57I know, I was like, they totally inspired it.
- 16:59It was not my original idea, but I was like, hey, like this.
- 17:02I would totally do that just to get my body moving, especially
- 17:06when I sit all the time for. Work.
- 17:07So yeah, and there are lots of other like Disney inspired like
- 17:13workout videos on YouTube and there's Zumba or you know all of
- 17:18those kinds of things that are like all Disney themed.
- 17:21So just search on YouTube and you'll find what you're looking
- 17:25for I'm sure. Yeah, most of it's not, doesn't
- 17:27cost anything. So it's a nice one too for if
- 17:30you're budget conscious and you can't afford maybe some of these
- 17:33other things. So absolutely.
- 17:35Yes, OK. So I think that kind of in a
- 17:38nutshell is the exercise, lose weight, move your body, be
- 17:44healthy type of type of resolution.
- 17:49So let's look at our second one that we have here.
- 17:52Again, these are just kind of the like standard traditional
- 17:55resolutions that we hear a lot of people talk about.
- 17:57And this one is travel more, which is kind of a given when
- 18:01you're thinking about Disney and making that kind of Disney
- 18:03related. But we we added a couple things
- 18:06on here that maybe you didn't think about when you were
- 18:08thinking about traveling more. The first one, again obvious is
- 18:13visiting Epcot and World Showcase.
- 18:15There's so much that you can learn about other countries and
- 18:19other cultures and all that kind of stuff.
- 18:24So just a few things that I feel like are often overlooked in
- 18:28World Showcase. There are so many different like
- 18:31shows and videos and like movie kind of little shorts that you
- 18:36can go and see while you're in World Showcase.
- 18:39The American Adventure, which I was thinking as I was writing
- 18:42this, it was down for read, preferred for a while, but I
- 18:45think it's back open now. I don't know, but it is really
- 18:48long, so just take that into account when you go to it.
- 18:51It's extremely long show. So it's a wonderful show and I
- 18:55100% recommend it, but it's a very long show so be committed.
- 19:00It's a great place to get out of the heat for a while and relax
- 19:03and some people taken out, but that's then you miss the
- 19:07education part of it, so. That that kind of defeats the
- 19:10purpose. Then you had to sit through it a
- 19:11second time to actually, like, write the information.
- 19:14Don't do that but there is the Canada far and wide video and
- 19:20they can't can in the Canada pavilion, my mouth was not
- 19:24having a good time with that right that's sorry.
- 19:28In the France pavilion there is Impressions de France that you
- 19:32can go and they they like alternate that one with Beauty
- 19:36and the Beast and get along so it's like 1 or the other.
- 19:38So you have to kind of like time it just right to get to it.
- 19:42Yeah. And all of these have, like
- 19:43showtimes and information about showtimes that you can look up,
- 19:46if that's what you want to do. All of the Kid Kot stations, if
- 19:49you've got kiddos that you're wanting to also have learned
- 19:52about other cultures and get maybe a little bit of
- 19:53information, it's not a ton, but a little bit of information
- 19:56about the different countries. They've got all those Kid Kot
- 19:58stations for the kiddos. The Reflections of China show in
- 20:04the video in the China pavilion. And then Kate, you added about
- 20:10something in the Japan pavilion. Do you want to tell us about
- 20:13that? Yeah.
- 20:15Before I launch into that, I will mention too like there's a
- 20:19there's some displays in China of like some Imagineering stuff
- 20:21as well that's really cool in different countries around the
- 20:23world so that they've worked in. So that's really fun to to see.
- 20:26And then there's a history of, oh, I'm going to get it wrong
- 20:31Kawaii, like the the cute Japanese cute stuff.
- 20:36Like they had a little Museum of that too, that you can go and
- 20:38explore that. But something that I'm actually
- 20:42think I'm going to do for the first time ever, this next trip
- 20:44to Disney is get a Pearl in the Japanese pavilion.
- 20:48I've always seen it. I've seen it for years.
- 20:50I've just like never done it. So there's a place called Akoya
- 20:54Pearls inside the Mitsukoshi store.
- 20:58And so it's 1895 per ticket and you get a ticket and they kind
- 21:02of like thing like call your number I guess and call your
- 21:04name that's from what I've seen. And then they'll open a Pearl or
- 21:08an oyster in front of you and then they'll like find a Pearl.
- 21:11And I guess every single oyster they have has a Pearl in it,
- 21:13which is not true to nature. It's usually one in every like
- 21:1610,000 oysters have a Pearl, but they've kind of like I was
- 21:20trying to try to figure out how they know that they.
- 21:22X-ray them. Like how to think you would have
- 21:24to you probably have to X-ray it, because how else would you
- 21:27know for sure that there's one inside?
- 21:30Yeah, because they're literally cutting them open and like
- 21:33they're not pre opened when you get like when you watch them do
- 21:36it right. So I think it's really fun when
- 21:40it's for 1895 that's that's a pretty cheap souvenir for busy,
- 21:43you know, and then you can choose the jewelry is a little
- 21:46bit more expensive if you want to have it mounted inside some
- 21:49piece of jewelry or you can just take the Pearl home and then
- 21:52that's your souvenir. So I thought that was a really
- 21:54interesting one because there's a lot of they have history
- 21:56that's posted in that area as well about the history of the
- 21:59women that would dive to get the pearls in Japan.
- 22:01So very, very interesting part of that culture that then you
- 22:04can learn in Japan, so. And that's true, Grace says.
- 22:08They may be like Grove them there.
- 22:11Like, and that's what Rhonda said, she said.
- 22:13They insert a grain of sandwich that oyster then coats then and
- 22:17then equals Pearl. So that's how you get it.
- 22:19So that that makes so much more sense than X raying them.
- 22:23Thanks for that. Sally Beth is over here
- 22:25volunteering to be the X-ray Technician for the oysters.
- 22:29In the Japan pavilion. So maybe they still need one.
- 22:34He never got that. That makes me more sense.
- 22:36But that's really fun. So and they have like some ones
- 22:40that are more rare than others and stuff like there's all sorts
- 22:43of different like. Colors and shades and stuff for
- 22:46those, I think too, yeah. When I went to China, like the
- 22:49actual China when I was a million years ago and I went to
- 22:54like a Pearl store, and then they showed us all the different
- 22:57kinds. And then I my, my mom bought me
- 22:59like a like a black Pearl, which is really cool.
- 23:01So. Which now reminds me of Disney
- 23:04too. So it's good.
- 23:05It all comes full circle back to Disney, right?
- 23:09Right. And the other spot that I had
- 23:11written down was the. And I'm sure it's not just Stav.
- 23:14I'm sure there's a different way to say it in the Norwegian
- 23:17language, but the Stav Church Gallery in Norway I.
- 23:20Always say stave. That's probably not right.
- 23:22I don't know, I'm not sure, so apologies, but but they've got
- 23:26that gallery of kind of different artifacts and things
- 23:30in the Norway pavilion as well. So lots of different places that
- 23:34you can go throughout and we probably didn't like.
- 23:36Kate mentioned a couple others, we probably didn't even list all
- 23:38of the different little. Places that you can learn about
- 23:41the different countries in World Showcase, Yeah.
- 23:44And I would say that church in Norway is like the big wooden
- 23:47structure that you see is the church.
- 23:49And a lot of people don't know you can go in there like that.
- 23:52It doesn't is there's no, like obvious signs.
- 23:54Most people just walk right by it.
- 23:55So go in there, walk through it. There's lots of cool things
- 23:58there that you can see. And that that church is like one
- 24:01of the oldest churches in the in like in Norway.
- 24:04That's why it's modeled after that.
- 24:05So there's a lot more history than that.
- 24:08I won't get into it. I won't have time.
- 24:09So very cool though. So an idea that I had if it's a
- 24:14really simple one and actually really fun way to interact with
- 24:16the cast members is learning how to say hello and goodbye or just
- 24:20one or the other in each country.
- 24:21Because they they finally have the like cultural
- 24:24representatives back at Epcot, which if you don't know what
- 24:28those are, is just people that come from the actual country and
- 24:30they come and work there. So they they they speak English
- 24:33too. That's kind of like they have to
- 24:35do to work there. But they also can speak their
- 24:38language So you can ask them how to say hello and goodbye which
- 24:41is also really fun for kids as well I think to to hear that and
- 24:46then I also just one is trying foods from different cultures
- 24:50while walking around the world seems really obvious especially
- 24:52in Epcot and with all the food festivals.
- 24:54But I I really loved trying the school bread and the rice.
- 24:58It's not rice pudding. It's like rice something.
- 25:00Rice pudding, rice cream. I think it's what it is.
- 25:04I don't remember. I know what you're.
- 25:05Talking about rice pudding, it's in the Norway pavilion.
- 25:09They have those two and actually I I did a little comparison of
- 25:11them when I was live and that was really fun to do to try
- 25:15something that was kind of authentic to that culture ish,
- 25:18you know, as you can get in America, right.
- 25:20So that's a that's a fun one. Yeah, and it's fun when they do.
- 25:23You know the food booths too. You've got there's so much food
- 25:26already in Epcot that is so like specific to each country that
- 25:30you're in. Then they had the food booths in
- 25:31too. It's very overwhelming.
- 25:33But picking out just a few that you maybe haven't tried before
- 25:37or that is new to you can be a super fun way to learn more
- 25:41about the palette of the country that you're visiting.
- 25:45That's true. And the other thing that I did
- 25:47think of, if you want to travel the world without like traveling
- 25:51the world at Disney, if you go to Animal Kingdom, in many of
- 25:56the ride queues there, they feature actual antiques from
- 26:00Imagineers who did like scouting research expeditions to those
- 26:04countries while they were learning how they wanted to
- 26:07design the attractions. So they came back with a lot of
- 26:10antiques that they put on display.
- 26:13I think one of the most prominent ones is Kali River
- 26:14Rapids and Expedition Everest come to mind as like you love
- 26:18the places that have a lot of antiques in those queues.
- 26:21So if you only ever do single rider on Expedition Everest or
- 26:25like Lightning Lane someday, stay in the standby queue just
- 26:28so you can see those antiques because it's worth it.
- 26:30Yeah, I you like to see history and antiques and.
- 26:33Yeah, You started to talk about that.
- 26:35And I was like, Oh my gosh, I don't remember the last time I
- 26:37stood in the standby queue for Everest because like my whole
- 26:42family doesn't really go on it. So like we usually use single
- 26:44rider or Lightning lane just to like make it quick.
- 26:48And now next time I go I I need to do that.
- 26:51Yeah, I do too. It's been a long time.
- 26:53So, well, do you want to talk about the next thing in the
- 26:57travel resolution category? Yes.
- 26:59So this one was one that I had fun kind of looking into.
- 27:04So I had heard about this and this is Adventures by Disney.
- 27:07So if you didn't know, these are basically Disney LED excursions
- 27:14so to speak in lots of different places around the world.
- 27:18They're not all park related. Actually very few of them are
- 27:21parks related. It's more just like travel and
- 27:26it's sponsored by Disney. So they have oh gosh, seven
- 27:31different regions or different like options that you can choose
- 27:36from and so many different places that you can go.
- 27:39Now these are on the more pricey side because it's it's like all
- 27:45inclusive to an extent where when you start to look at prices
- 27:50that includes like certain meals and flights and transport and
- 27:54tickets to things and all of that.
- 27:57So keep that in mind if you're looking at these because the
- 28:02the, the price point is fairly high for some of these.
- 28:05But I mean they've got locations in Africa, Egypt, Morocco and
- 28:08South Africa, the Asian Asia Pacific area, they do Australia,
- 28:12China, Japan, New Zealand, I mean you name it, they do it
- 28:15basically when it comes to that, even just North America ones, if
- 28:20you're looking for a a guided tour of different regions of
- 28:24North America, they do Alaska, they do like in Arizona and
- 28:27Utah, the Canadian Rockies, they do some with Disneyland in
- 28:31Southern California. I didn't see any with Disney
- 28:35World. So I think just Disneyland are
- 28:37included in some of these. They do a Nova Scotia and Prince
- 28:41Edward Island one and then one in Wyoming, which I was like
- 28:43that's super fun, like that's something.
- 28:44That I would have been. Doing really.
- 28:47Yeah. Because it's so different and
- 28:49it's unlike anything that I've ever done like that or like the
- 28:52like Arizona and Utah. I've just like I've lived on in
- 28:56the like Midwest and Eastern, you know, this side of the
- 28:59country for my whole life. And I've been to Arizona once
- 29:02and that was it. So like.
- 29:03My goodness, you need to come visit me and I'll show you the
- 29:06West. It'll be great.
- 29:07Yes, I've been to all states except for three.
- 29:13So yeah, it's you. And.
- 29:15And then they're not. I've been to Alaska and I've
- 29:17been Hawaii. So it's not those.
- 29:18It's like mostly the Northeast. So I got to get up there, got to
- 29:21go see Vermont and Maine and New Hampshire one of these days.
- 29:24It's going to happen. Well, unfortunately, Adventures
- 29:27by Disney does not go up there. I will not be using Adventures
- 29:32by Disney, but I will find a way.
- 29:33OK, yeah, again, lots of lots of options there.
- 29:38They previously have offered what they call the polar
- 29:40regions, but currently it's not being offered on their website,
- 29:43so I couldn't find much information about that.
- 29:45Like Antarctica, I don't know, it just said polar regions.
- 29:49So I was like, I'm not sure exactly what that means.
- 29:52It sounds intriguing for someone that's not me because I despise
- 29:57the cold. I feel like it's all those
- 30:00things. Don't you have to do that?
- 30:01What Drake Passage crossing that we see all over the stock where
- 30:04people have to like go on that crazy.
- 30:07And it's either like they say when it's the it's either really
- 30:10still or like really, really awful.
- 30:12It's no in between. I don't know.
- 30:15I don't know if I want to do that.
- 30:17No, thank you. I'll just go to Disney instead.
- 30:22But then they also do Central and South America, Colombia,
- 30:27Costa Rica. They do just like the Amazon as
- 30:29one, which I was like, oh, that's kind of cool.
- 30:31Like different locations throughout there.
- 30:33Yeah, that would be cool. Been the Galapagos Islands,
- 30:35which like that sounds fascinating to me.
- 30:37I want the Penguins. I'd be all in for the Penguins.
- 30:40And the giant tortoises that live on the Galapagos Islands.
- 30:44That would be like, let's go, OK.
- 30:49And then they have so many options in Europe.
- 30:51They have 28 options in Europe. So like I did not list them all,
- 30:55but like places like Barcelona, the British Isles, Iceland,
- 30:59Portugal, like literally basically anywhere that you
- 31:01could think of they go. And then the, the last category
- 31:06and this one recently I think made made kind of like Disney
- 31:10news a couple months ago when they announced it.
- 31:12They have an around the world option and it is $115,000 and
- 31:19you visit, You start in Anaheim and you end in Orlando, but in
- 31:25between it's Anaheim, San Francisco, Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong
- 31:31Kong, Agra, Cairo, Paris, and then Orlando.
- 31:35And you visit all of the parks on your way around the world.
- 31:40I mean, if I had that money, I would do it like that would be
- 31:44amazing. But yeah, So again.
- 31:48Like I said, some of these are more expensive than others
- 31:50because you've got to think about travel and transport and
- 31:53all that kind of stuff, but that is the most expensive one when
- 31:56it comes to Adventures by Disney.
- 31:58But if you're someone who is looking for a way to travel the
- 32:01world, it can be intimidating. I know to think about going to
- 32:05other countries, so I feel like doing something like Through
- 32:09Adventures by Disney can give you a little bit of Peace of
- 32:11Mind knowing that Disney is taking care of things for you.
- 32:14I feel like that helps a little. Yeah, you know, and I think it's
- 32:18similar to if you've ever been on a Disney cruise and you pay
- 32:22for like their shore excursions and then you they go and you
- 32:24meet up with a local who's like very well versed and very, very
- 32:28knowledgeable and they act as your tour guide and they take
- 32:31you around and they, you know, like it's all just kind of like
- 32:33done for you. It's very much from what I
- 32:36understand, it's like that I have not paid to do one of
- 32:38these. So, you know, take that with a
- 32:40grain of salt, but from those experience of those shore
- 32:43excursions, they're usually very, very well done and you get
- 32:46a lot out of them. And it's it's all kind of, it's
- 32:50relaxed for you because you don't have to stress about
- 32:52getting places and knowing where to go and what to do and how to
- 32:56speak all the languages and things like that.
- 32:57So it's really convenient for that.
- 33:00Yeah, yeah. That's what I would say too.
- 33:02So I feel like if I ever decide to go to any of these places,
- 33:05the 1st place I'm going to try to book it through his
- 33:08adventures by Disney gives me a little bit of Peace of Mind
- 33:11because I really want to in this kind of segues into the next
- 33:14section that we're going to talk about the international parks.
- 33:16But I really want to visit Tokyo and Shanghai.
- 33:20But that is very intimidating to me because I just, I don't have
- 33:24the knowledge that I need at this point in my life to be in
- 33:27those cultures. So I'd have to do a lot of
- 33:29research. But also then booking through
- 33:31something like Adventures by Disney gives me a little bit of
- 33:33Peace of Mind knowing that I'll have a guide of some sort with
- 33:36me. So that way that can be very.
- 33:38Helpful. And we should mention that this
- 33:40is not sponsored by Adventures, by Disney.
- 33:42It sounds a little bit like an infomercial and it's really not.
- 33:44We're just giving you some information and how you could
- 33:47travel the world with a little magical like Disney touch, if
- 33:49that's if that's what you'd like to do.
- 33:51Truth. OK, let's let's talk a little
- 33:53bit about sitting in international Disney Park is
- 33:56like high on the list for me. I just did Disneyland Paris.
- 33:58That's where these ears are from.
- 34:00In case you're wondering, I just did Disneyland Paris this last
- 34:04year and Disney Tokyo Tokyo Disney is like definitely on my
- 34:08list for in the next 18 months or so.
- 34:11I'm hoping, and I totally get the idea of being really
- 34:14intimidated by it. I'm more intimidated than I used
- 34:17to be when I was young as we lived in Europe and we just
- 34:19traveled a lot and I just got used to like being in different
- 34:22cultures all the time and just adopting.
- 34:24And now I'm old and I have kids, and that's more stressful.
- 34:28So especially thinking about do you want to take them with you?
- 34:32That's a whole nother. Ball game.
- 34:35Yeah, they they did well in Europe overall, So.
- 34:37And they they talk about it all the time.
- 34:39And that was a huge life experience.
- 34:41Yeah. We have 5 international Disney
- 34:43parks. We've got Tokyo Disney, which
- 34:46was, and then we have Disneyland, Paris, Hong Kong,
- 34:49Disneyland and then Shanghai. So those are all the ones.
- 34:52A lot of people are surprised that there's like Shanghai and
- 34:54Hong Kong. There's a lot over there in the
- 34:57Asian part of the world. So you know, that is there's
- 35:03lots of places to visit and they're all a little bit
- 35:05different. If people are like, oh, they're
- 35:06carbon copies of each other at all.
- 35:08There's some things that are similar.
- 35:09There's some rides that are identical, but by and large
- 35:13there's lands that are completely different.
- 35:15The food is very different and it is all worth experiencing if
- 35:19you can make it happen. Yeah, absolutely.
- 35:21I think those are those are, you know we talk about bucket list
- 35:25items. Those are on my bucket list.
- 35:27I just know it's probably going to take me the next 50 years to
- 35:30get to all of it. Me too.
- 35:33And it's expensive. Travel is expensive and luckily
- 35:35some of these parks, when you go to them, if you're coming from
- 35:38the US, they at least don't cost as much because your, your
- 35:42exchange rate works in your advantage.
- 35:44So that does help. But sometimes just the act of
- 35:46getting there is extremely hard, especially if we're talking
- 35:49Asia. I mean for us that's like a
- 35:5212/13 plus hour flight and we're not that far from it.
- 35:55We're like on the other side of the Pacific Rim, right?
- 35:57So it's it takes a long, a lot to get there.
- 36:00So we get there. And I I think about that coming
- 36:02from the Eastern Time zone and I'm like that's a lot, this is a
- 36:10lot of time zones that I'm traveling, you know.
- 36:12So it it it's definitely something that you have to do a
- 36:17lot of research before you go. But it is definitely a good
- 36:21thing to plan for. If that's something that you
- 36:24really want to do, and if it's maybe your resolution is to
- 36:27start to budget or start to put a little bit of money aside for
- 36:31a trip in five years, that's great.
- 36:34If that's what you want to do. You know, there's lots of
- 36:36different ways that you can approach travel when it comes to
- 36:38resolutions. Yeah, Ryan's asking do cast
- 36:42members speak English in the international parks in in Paris?
- 36:46For sure they do. They speak both because most of
- 36:50the people that go there are from the UK.
- 36:52So it's like that's there's everything's in in French and
- 36:56English in that park. So it's not hard at all to to
- 36:58communicate. And in terms of the other ones,
- 37:01I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't speak English in most of
- 37:05those places just because almost all those countries learn
- 37:08English alongside their native language, first of all.
- 37:11And second all the fact that it's Disney, they probably do.
- 37:14You might have some signs and things that signs are probably
- 37:17both in like the language and then also English from what I've
- 37:20seen. And then you can also get like
- 37:23my iPhone translates things like crazy like, so I was translating
- 37:28my daughter's, she got a little Kirby Robin Bolt.
- 37:31It has some language on the bottom.
- 37:33I'm not even sure which one it is to be honest.
- 37:36But it. So I used my iPhone to translate
- 37:38it and it said the power of the stars because we all thought it
- 37:41said Kirby and it says the power of the stars.
- 37:43I was like, oh, so you get your phone to hold it up and read
- 37:46things and translate really easily, which helps.
- 37:48A lot. Technology is great, like I
- 37:50can't imagine 20-30 years ago trying to visit these countries
- 37:54and not having the ability to Google.
- 37:56Translate something. Yeah, right.
- 38:00Yeah. It's.
- 38:00It was a whole different ball game traveling in the early
- 38:032000s, I will tell you that. Yeah, so true.
- 38:08Speaking of more travel, Kate, let's talk about Disney Cruises.
- 38:13Yeah, and not a ton because it's a massive topic that we can get
- 38:17into for days. And I think Jackie and I are
- 38:20planning a series on Disney Cruise Line for later in the
- 38:23year for Mom Street. So if that's something you'd
- 38:24like to learn more about, stick around because we'll we'll talk
- 38:27more about it later. But Disney Cruise does have 19
- 38:31different locations they're going to currently they change
- 38:33it up every once in a while, six different ships currently they
- 38:37add some every once in a while and they go to the Caribbean.
- 38:42Your Europe, Alaska, Canada, Mexico, I think right now they
- 38:45even have Australian sometimes they have Hawaii, they do like
- 38:49Panama Canal cruises. They do transatlantic cruises.
- 38:52They do West Coast cruises and East Coast cruises.
- 38:54It's just like anywhere you want to go.
- 38:57They're probably going there at some point because they have a
- 38:59massive fleet of ships give they it is is spendy to go ahead to
- 39:05see cruise it's but it's worth saving up for if that's the
- 39:10thing that is you could fit in your budget because it's it's a
- 39:12really amazing experience I have to.
- 39:14Say that, Yeah. And it's a good way.
- 39:16If, like, Adventures by Disney is not in your budget and not
- 39:19something that you want to try to save up for, doing, a Disney
- 39:23cruise is a much better way to kind of regionally see the
- 39:27world. Yeah, depending on where you are
- 39:30and where where you're going and all that kind of stuff.
- 39:33And then maybe a little closer to maybe a price point that fits
- 39:35within your budget? Yeah, that's what we did this
- 39:38last summer as we flew over to London and then we did a
- 39:42Northern European cruise. So we got to go to Denmark and
- 39:45Belgium and Norway, a couple stops in Norway and then also
- 39:49back to London. So we saw the UK and then we
- 39:52just took the the train through the tunnel and went to Paris and
- 39:55Disneyland Paris and then went home.
- 39:56And so it was quite an amazing vacation.
- 39:58It was a long vacation with a lot of logistics, but it was
- 40:02amazing how many things we saw in a very short period of time.
- 40:05And I love cruises because you can just go to sleep and wake up
- 40:08at another country so you can, you don't have to do that act of
- 40:11traveling to another country, which is very stressful,
- 40:13especially if you have a family. Yeah, I could tell you the
- 40:18stories of us trying to get all of our.
- 40:21What is it? It was six of us with suitcases
- 40:24all onto the train before the doors closed and the train left
- 40:28was the most stressful thing I've ever done.
- 40:31And it was extremely, it was like, I don't think I've ever
- 40:34been that stressed out in my life, making sure we had all the
- 40:36people and the bags on the train while there's other people
- 40:39trying to get on and off the train.
- 40:41Like, no, next time we're going to travel really light if we
- 40:44ever do it again. So anyway, good luck with that.
- 40:46Yeah, Disney Cruise Got a Disney cruise.
- 40:48It's so much easier than doing that.
- 40:51Yes, yes, absolutely. Absolutely it is.
- 40:54So all of those ideas, again, this category, a little bit more
- 40:58spendy when it comes to doing different kinds of travel with
- 41:03adventures by Disney International Parks in the
- 41:05Disney Cruise Line. But again, it's expensive.
- 41:07It is, yes. Now, are there ways that you can
- 41:10experience these places from the comfort of your own home?
- 41:13Absolutely. That's what YouTube is for and
- 41:16that's what social media is for and content of people.
- 41:20You know, there's lots of people that visit the international
- 41:22parks now. Some of them you can't like do
- 41:25live streams in and things like that, but there's lots of that
- 41:27content that's out and available.
- 41:29So just do a quick search and you can also enjoy it from the
- 41:32comfort of your own home. Yeah.
- 41:35Which I think it segues nicely into our next category of
- 41:39resolutions, which would be spending more time with your
- 41:41family, which we're huge advocates for, obviously by
- 41:46doing. I put this idea of doing a
- 41:48virtual Disney trip, which I feel like a lot of us did during
- 41:51like lockdown time. Because we're like we need to
- 41:55like do something. We want to get out, but we can't
- 41:57get out. Pretend like we can leave even
- 41:59though we can't. But is it really fun to just
- 42:02plan like a little night in or something where you're like, OK,
- 42:05we're just going to go and we're going to watch video footage on
- 42:08YouTube of like the different areas of the park.
- 42:10Like what ride should we go on next?
- 42:11And you go and you watch that ride like a point of view of
- 42:13that ride and I think it's really fun.
- 42:16You can also have Disney snacks like a lot of stores sell the
- 42:19Mickey ice cream bars. So you could get those popcorn
- 42:22and churros that they also sell the grocery stores and things
- 42:25like that. So you can make some Disney
- 42:27snacks and kind of virtually go to the park.
- 42:29And I think it's also really nice if you really want to go to
- 42:32Disney, but it is just not in the cards right now And that's I
- 42:35think a lot of us because the groceries are spendy.
- 42:39So. So this is a way that you can do
- 42:43that and still kind of get that magic with your family, but in a
- 42:47way that maybe is a little bit more budget friendly.
- 42:50Yeah. And I think another budget
- 42:52friendly option that you could do are like theme nights or
- 42:54Disney movie nights. And we've talked about different
- 42:57ways to kind of go about doing that, but just having where your
- 43:00your food for the night is themed to whatever movie you're
- 43:04going to watch or. Lady and the Tramp with
- 43:06spaghetti meatballs. Yes, you could.
- 43:09I mean doing something as easy as Toy Story and having pizza
- 43:13because Pizza Planet, you know, it doesn't have to be elaborate
- 43:16and extreme, but doing Disney movie nights together as a
- 43:20family, planning it together as a family or letting you know,
- 43:23rotating through who gets to pick the theme for the week,
- 43:26however you you don't want to do that.
- 43:29And then obviously, if you're able to book a trip and plan it
- 43:33together with your family, that's something that my kids
- 43:36love to do because we've included them in the last
- 43:38several trips that we've done. So anytime I tell them that
- 43:42we're doing a trip, they're like, OK, when are we going to
- 43:44do our ride list? When are we going to pick out
- 43:46what we want to do? Like they're ready.
- 43:48They. I know, it's so cute.
- 43:51I don't know if that's a good. Thing or a bet?
- 43:56I love it, but thanks. Don't do that.
- 43:59They're kind of like, what are we wearing because they go on
- 44:01outfits. That's fair.
- 44:02Like, let's plan our outfits. And I feel like once my kids are
- 44:05a little bit older, like right now, they they could care less.
- 44:08I'll give them some options when it comes to like, planning their
- 44:10outfits. And they like to be involved
- 44:12when I'm packing. But they don't necessarily have
- 44:15super strong opinions because they like everything that's in
- 44:17their closet. So like, as long as I'm pulling
- 44:19stuff out of their closet, they're like, cool, That's fine.
- 44:21Whatever. That's nice.
- 44:23They have changes when they get older.
- 44:25At least it did for me. They have started to get really
- 44:28attached to any of the shirts that I have bought from our
- 44:32friend Kirk at Walrus Carp. Those are like their favorites
- 44:37that they like to wear. We bought them the matching
- 44:41Madame Liotta Making Spirits Bright Holiday shirt.
- 44:44So all four of us had them that one.
- 44:46I know it's such a good one, but we had that one on when we went
- 44:50this past time and they were so excited that we all were like
- 44:53matching together. So I envision, you know, we also
- 44:57did some Disney bounding this last time for the first time
- 44:59like as a family. So I envisioned there will
- 45:01probably be more of that. But right now they're more
- 45:03concerned about getting to give their input on what rides we do.
- 45:08No, I love that. So yeah, those are just some
- 45:12just some small ideas for a resolution of spending more time
- 45:15together as a family. You know, obviously we're we're
- 45:18focusing on just the Disney ones.
- 45:19There's lots of things you can do to spend more time together
- 45:22as a family, but we're focusing on specifically Disney things
- 45:25you can do. Speaking of planning and
- 45:28organizing, Jackie, I feel like this next topic is for you, this
- 45:33resolution, because it's all about planning and organizing
- 45:36more. I mean, I may be just really, I
- 45:40just enjoy doing that. Yeah, that's fair.
- 45:45Exactly. So if you are someone who's
- 45:47like, man, I wish that I was more organized or I wish that I
- 45:50had like a better way to like do my Disney trip and plan it.
- 45:55First of all, you're in the right place because that's what
- 45:57Kate Nyer for. So, being here, check that off
- 46:01your list, you're already doing it.
- 46:04Done. We do, we do love checkbox.
- 46:08We do they, you know, checking off all the boxes.
- 46:10That's the thing we do here, but.
- 46:12Something as simple as Etsy planners and guides for there
- 46:15are so many different options that that you can find online.
- 46:20Mom St. Week, Kate and I have several
- 46:22options for We have like a planning checklist and different
- 46:26you know, one day strategy guides and all those kinds of
- 46:29things. Those currently live on the
- 46:31Walrus Carp Discord on our Mom St. channel, so if you're
- 46:34looking for those, that's where you can currently find them.
- 46:37I also have an Etsy shop that has planners and guides and
- 46:40things like that as well, but there are so many options that
- 46:43you can find that so you know that you can search around and
- 46:46find one that really is catered to what you want and what works
- 46:50for you. And even just the Disney themed
- 46:54calendars, you know, can be super fun even if you're not
- 46:57planning a trip, but you just need to be more organized with
- 47:01your schedule or whatever. But having a planner that's
- 47:03Disney themed can make it a little bit more magical as you
- 47:07go through your day-to-day life. And then yeah, making and buying
- 47:11a countdown for your next trip. We did a whole episode on count
- 47:15or a whole half an episode on countdowns and what that looks
- 47:19like and surprising people with Disney trips and all that.
- 47:21It's all in there, but doing that can be just as fun, too.
- 47:26Yeah. And I will say that our like
- 47:28checklist that we curated, that's like the ultimate Disney
- 47:31planning checklist for. It's like a one sheet.
- 47:34That's all the things you need. And I pulled that out because
- 47:37I'm planning a trip for my family to Disney World, which I
- 47:40haven't done in like a couple years.
- 47:42And I'm like, thank goodness we made this because now I'm using
- 47:44it. I have also referred back to it
- 47:49like I have my own checklist that I've just been using for as
- 47:52long as I can remember, but I definitely like because it's me,
- 47:56I cross referenced it cross reference.
- 48:00With your spreadsheet. Listen, it brings me joy, OK?
- 48:05And I'm not going to stop doing it.
- 48:06It's great they say what what at least 50% of like your them
- 48:10throwing that number out there. But it they said that so much of
- 48:12the the enjoyment of your trip is actually like the
- 48:14anticipation of it and the planning like that's like a huge
- 48:17part of it. And those who get are surprised
- 48:19by trips don't feel as much satisfaction of them necessarily
- 48:23because they didn't get to plan it.
- 48:25So just saying, planning is good or you can?
- 48:29So yes, lots of different ways that you can plan.
- 48:33And if you're someone who like, wants a plan and wants to be
- 48:36organized but doesn't necessarily want to do it
- 48:38yourself, that's also what I'm here for.
- 48:40So if you need help with your itinerary or your Genie Plus are
- 48:44planning, send us a message. We will help.
- 48:48Yeah, Jackie's so good at that she helps me with my Disneyland
- 48:50Paris One because I was like overwhelmed with all the other
- 48:53details of that trip. So Jackie's wonderful as a trip
- 48:57consultant getting things planned out.
- 48:59All right, So Next up, we have on our our resolutions list that
- 49:05we are Disneyfying. We've got relaxing more and
- 49:09self-care. That should be my resolution, I
- 49:12know. That's what I thought too.
- 49:13And I was making this list. I was like, that's a good.
- 49:16One. Yeah, it is.
- 49:19So let's go ahead this, this first one is, is all you, Kate.
- 49:23Oh, yeah. OK.
- 49:26So the first one is read more Disney books.
- 49:30And there's so many good ones out there.
- 49:32I have like a whole stack of them.
- 49:34I'll show you because my shelf is like, awful over here.
- 49:37But I have like I have probably at least 150 Disney history and
- 49:42Disney books, and so I've I know which ones are my favorites and
- 49:45which ones I'm like I probably could do without that one.
- 49:48So I put my favorites on a specifically Disney history book
- 49:52list on my Amazon storefront. So there is a Mr. Lincoln bio
- 49:55for that one if you guys are interested in that.
- 49:58We'll link it in our show notes as well.
- 50:01But then I also do have a couple of books that I've published as
- 50:05well, in case you want something that is, I have two books that
- 50:10are behind me that I can show you.
- 50:12That one is called A Glimpse of the Magic Finding Ourselves in
- 50:15the Disney Story. This is a nonfiction book that
- 50:18is like a curated collection of writings about how we experience
- 50:23the Disney Parks and has the history in it as well.
- 50:26And then this is the first, This one's called Where the Fireflies
- 50:29Dance and it is a first of a series that I'm working on.
- 50:34I've already, I've written two books in the series, but this
- 50:38one is all about Disney history. It comes alive when two live
- 50:41streamers find love in the shadow of Sleeping Beauty
- 50:43Castle. But one of them has a they're
- 50:46hiding a dangerous secret. So their fairy tale romance
- 50:48might just unravel into an unhappily ever after.
- 50:50So that's what this one's about. If you like Disney Live
- 50:53streamers, if you like Disney History, if you like Disney
- 50:56contract creating creators or if you just like being in the
- 50:59Disney Parks and want to put yourself there mentally, this
- 51:02one is is a good one for that. And then I have a the next book
- 51:05in the series. It's like it's a romantic
- 51:08suspense. So no surprises there.
- 51:10But the next one in the series is coming out but before the end
- 51:13of this month it's almost done and it is called what the
- 51:17Mansion I see. So it's a Haunted Mansion, a
- 51:20little bit themed. Jackie has read.
- 51:23They have so. Good.
- 51:26You guys are going to love it. Yeah.
- 51:28So those those are also, they're available on Amazon in case
- 51:31anybody's looking for them. They're pretty easy to find if
- 51:33you just search for Disney sister owner Kate Grasso around.
- 51:37So those if you just want to Lem just said he just bought the
- 51:42fireflies, went oh thanks Lem. And Kirk's saying the second
- 51:46book is all about a Yeti stuck in a mountain in Disney World,
- 51:48which is not true. So don't listen for that.
- 51:53That's not true. But that's not.
- 51:55It but yes, lots of lots of fun ways that if reading is a way
- 52:00that you enjoy yourself, care, and helps you relax, That is a
- 52:06there are so many great Disney books and if you like have a
- 52:09specific genre you're looking for, Reach out to Kate.
- 52:14She can help you find the books that you're looking for.
- 52:16Yeah, I've read a lot. I read probably two to three
- 52:19books a week. I'm just a voracious reader.
- 52:22That's how I know all the things I know since I just read a ton.
- 52:25So if you're if you need a good book about something specific in
- 52:28Disney culture, I probably know one I can recommend so.
- 52:33Very kind of. That and Lem saying.
- 52:36Kane confirms a person who doesn't enjoy reading.
- 52:37He did enjoy reading this book because he just read the new one
- 52:40that's coming out this month. So thanks, Thanks for that.
- 52:44Appreciate that. And I do have the S Audio
- 52:46version, so the first two are available on Audible.
- 52:49And Enough plugging me, let's move on.
- 52:53That is so good. It's OK.
- 52:55Well, then let's let's plug our ourselves, shall we continue to
- 53:00plug on unintentionally. Plug another way that you may
- 53:04enjoy relaxation and self-care are podcasts and there are
- 53:07thousands of Disney podcasts that you can listen to.
- 53:11Kate and I are fortunate enough to be between the the two of us.
- 53:16Part of, you know, obviously Mom Street, but then Kate has her
- 53:20podcast with our friend Kirk from Wallace Carp.
- 53:22That is distri with Kate and Kirk.
- 53:25That is a full deep dive into Disney history.
- 53:30Yes, if that's something that you're interested in, you can
- 53:34find that in all of the places that podcasts exist.
- 53:37And Mom Street is very fortunate to be a part of a super fun
- 53:41group of podcasters through our chip and Co network.
- 53:45So united we fan, we like theme parks and company and the Dis
- 53:49Life podcast are all part of that.
- 53:52And you can find those all on the chip and Co podcast network,
- 53:55which is also where you will find our episodes when they
- 53:58premiere. So lots of good content over
- 54:01there as well. Yeah, that's.
- 54:04And then I have something that I have been working on just as
- 54:07kind of a side project every once in a while is some Disney
- 54:10Spotify playlist. Now there's lots of wonderful
- 54:13Disney Spotify playlist out there, so you don't have to
- 54:15listen to mine. But if you if you want Disney
- 54:17History specific playlist, I have one that's called the
- 54:21Historians Lounge. It's just kind of like Disney
- 54:23Lounge music so to speak, most mostly instrumental.
- 54:26So if you need that for the background and then also have if
- 54:30you search for distry radio, like Disney History Distry
- 54:33Radio, I've curated, as we do our Distri Podcast.
- 54:37I've curated some playlists that were actually from like queues
- 54:41or various areas in the Disney parks, so you can listen to
- 54:44those. We have a lot of Jungle Cruise
- 54:45ones on there and I'm working on a few others as well.
- 54:48So Distri radio is on there. Just if you'd need some historic
- 54:53Disney music. Yeah, nice.
- 54:55And I actually have a couple different Spotify playlists as
- 54:58well of all sorts of Disney music.
- 55:00I've got holiday themed ones and just kind of generic Disney
- 55:03movie soundtrack ones. So there's so many that exist on
- 55:07Spotify and probably a lot of your other favorite content
- 55:09creators have Spotify playlist that maybe they don't talk about
- 55:13a lot. I've know I've I have found some
- 55:15from other creators that I have that I followed that I'm like, I
- 55:18wonder and I like go in their little link tree and I'm like,
- 55:21let me see what they like to listen to.
- 55:23Yeah, I had to. I do a very careful like
- 55:26curating of like making some private in some public because I
- 55:29was like, well, some of these are just not for public
- 55:31consumption. They're like my personal music,
- 55:35so and my kids because my kids make things too on my account.
- 55:38So I was like, OK, let's private some of these.
- 55:43So all the public ones are dizzy and all the private ones.
- 55:47Other things that you can do if your resolution is more
- 55:50self-care or relaxation in the new year, learn to draw some
- 55:53Disney characters. We've done this.
- 55:56Have your remote so you could pause it.
- 55:57That will be less stressful. So true Animation Academy,
- 56:03Youtubes and whatnot and things from the Disney Parks Blog and
- 56:06whatnot that will teach you how to draw Disney characters and
- 56:09that can be really relaxing and fun and also learn a new skill
- 56:12while you're at it for drawing characters.
- 56:15And I also throw in here, just do some Disney coloring.
- 56:17You know, you could just print off.
- 56:19They have sheets just pre printables everywhere that you
- 56:22can print to color and just relax doing that by maybe
- 56:26listening to music or watch a movie, you know to just kind of
- 56:29zone out. And I always I do this like once
- 56:31a year. I color like once a year and I
- 56:33should do it more often because it is still relaxing.
- 56:36You have that to your resolution list.
- 56:38Yes, making it as we speak. There you go.
- 56:41See. Perfect.
- 56:42Perfect. So I feel like this next one
- 56:45that we've got kind of our last little resolution category goes
- 56:48hand in hand with some of the stuff we were just talking about
- 56:52and that is making the resolution to spend less time on
- 56:55your technology kind of being more present.
- 56:58Again, this kind of goes hand in hand with relaxing and spending
- 57:01time with family, you know all of that kind of, but doing
- 57:05things like Disney board games. We love doing Disney board games
- 57:10at my house. There are so many really great
- 57:13options. If you want there are park
- 57:14specific ones. We've got a Haunted Mansion
- 57:16board game that we. Love to play?
- 57:19There are ones that are good for kids.
- 57:20We literally on New Year's Eve just pulled out.
- 57:23It's like a big I spy Disney game and it's like a six foot
- 57:26long game board. My kids love it.
- 57:28It's super fun. I think my kids tons of options.
- 57:32This one is my kids favorite and it's called Color Brain.
- 57:35Have you ever played this one, Jackie?
- 57:37No. So this one's really fun.
- 57:38I won't get too far into it. It's really simple, even for
- 57:42younger kids to play, because all it is, is like, it'll show a
- 57:46character and then it'll show like the card will be like the
- 57:50Incredibles, the logo on the Incredibles, hero costumes, four
- 57:53colors. And then you have color cards in
- 57:55your hand and you have to like, remember what colors they are
- 57:58and you'll actually be surprised what what colors you think
- 58:01things are. And then they're not.
- 58:02They're different. So this is probably one of our
- 58:06favorite kids game to play with my kids because it's really
- 58:09easy. It's only like 20 minutes long.
- 58:11It's not a long game and helpful couple if we want to.
- 58:14Yeah, or just a short game. But I I like that one a lot and
- 58:18it says 8 plus on it. But if you read the card to the
- 58:21kids, they could probably do it younger.
- 58:23Yeah, yeah. We also have a small world game
- 58:25that my kids love to play and it's all just like matching, so
- 58:28like super easy there. There are so many different
- 58:31Disney versions of games. Even if you get, you know, they
- 58:35have Uno cards that are Mickey Mouse themed or you know,
- 58:38there's lots of different really easy variations that you can do
- 58:41if you don't want to like dive feet first into the World of
- 58:44Disney board games. Same thing goes with puzzles.
- 58:48That is one that like I've talked about on here before, my
- 58:51son loves, loves doing puzzles. So we have tons of Disney
- 58:56puzzles in my house that are just super fun and we we like to
- 58:59do it together. I often will sit and observe
- 59:02while my husband and my son do the puzzle because it's
- 59:07something they truly enjoy and I enjoy watching them do it.
- 59:09So it's a good dining. It's.
- 59:11Relaxing to watch somebody else, like put the pieces together for
- 59:14sure. Yeah.
- 59:15So those are just a couple ways that you can spend your time,
- 59:19being more present with family, with yourself, with your
- 59:22significant other, with your spouse, whatever it may be, just
- 59:25spending some of that quality time together and making it
- 59:28Disney. I love that.
- 59:31Well, I think we've reached the end of our not the end of the
- 59:34episode, just the end of the resolution part.
- 59:37But now we have some bucket list items at Disney.
- 59:40And so those of you who are in our chat, if you have bucket
- 59:44list items as well and you want to add them to the chat, we'll
- 59:46also put them here. Things you've always wanted to
- 59:48do at Disney or with Disney or involving Disney, we love to
- 59:52hear your ideas as well. So, so let's talk a little a bit
- 59:56about bucket list. And I just wanted to preface
- 59:59this with something that is actually from.
- 1:00:01Sorry, I'm going to bring it back out this look.
- 1:00:04Do not apologize. Be proud of that book, Kate.
- 1:00:07Well, because I have a chapter in here that's all about
- 1:00:10breaking your ghost rules at Disney.
- 1:00:12And Ghost rules is isn't something that I got from Todd
- 1:00:16Henry of Accidental Creative and he says ghost rules are
- 1:00:19invisible limitations that people place upon themselves for
- 1:00:22no good reason. Sometimes these rules come baked
- 1:00:25in assumptions about what is and isn't possible.
- 1:00:27And so basically in that chapter it, I'm just going to summarize
- 1:00:31it really quick that it I say I talk about how at Disney we
- 1:00:34always have these things that we always do at Disney and some of
- 1:00:37them really bring us joy. Like you always get a dealt with
- 1:00:39or you always go on the stride first and say and that's great,
- 1:00:41like those are amazing. But there's also things we never
- 1:00:45get to because we always do the same thing.
- 1:00:48So this is encouraging you to step out of your Disney comfort
- 1:00:51zone and maybe do something differently than you've always
- 1:00:55done it when you go to Disney. And I have been practicing this
- 1:00:58for the last two years because I've, I have had the luxury of
- 1:01:01going to the parks a lot. So I don't do everything every
- 1:01:04time I go anymore. Like, I just do what I feel like
- 1:01:06or need to do. And so now I've like, I've
- 1:01:09really reached out on my comfort zone.
- 1:01:11I was like, I'm going to go try this new ride or this new thing
- 1:01:13or this thing. I've always walked by and always
- 1:01:15wanted to try and like, don't put yourself in that box where I
- 1:01:19have to do Disney the same way every time.
- 1:01:21It it even if you just try one new thing, you know, that can
- 1:01:25make like a huge difference. You might find something that
- 1:01:27you absolutely love and it changes your perspective about
- 1:01:30what Disney is. So that's what I would recommend
- 1:01:33is break your ghost rules. Don't let them rule you.
- 1:01:37Haunt you, if you will. But yes, we we've kind of come
- 1:01:43up with just a a general list of some things that you may want to
- 1:01:47put on your Disney Parks bucket list.
- 1:01:50Again, this is by no means a comprehensive complete list of
- 1:01:54all of the things that you could put on your list is going to be
- 1:01:59so specific to you as an individual and how you do the
- 1:02:03parks and how often you get to the parks and have you been
- 1:02:06before and all of those types of things.
- 1:02:08But these are just kind of some thoughts that we had that we
- 1:02:12thought maybe would be helpful to share.
- 1:02:15I do have a couple of people already chiming in with some
- 1:02:18other go ahead of things. Let's start off with those.
- 1:02:21So, Grace says I would love to stay in the Polynesian
- 1:02:24bungalows. A sale?
- 1:02:25Yep, that's on my. Bucket list someday?
- 1:02:29Mikhala, I think it's how you pronounce that Victorian.
- 1:02:31Albert's is definitely on my bucket list.
- 1:02:33One day I'll take out a loan for it.
- 1:02:36Same, same, same. And yeah, so those are a couple
- 1:02:41things that we'll see coming in here And then we have, which
- 1:02:45goes along with try something new to eat, which I think is
- 1:02:47like is something that we do. We, like I said, we always kind
- 1:02:50of eat the exact same things. Finding something that is a new
- 1:02:53flavor, a new restaurant that maybe you're a little
- 1:02:55intimidated by because there are a couple like very I'm I'm
- 1:02:58leaning towards like Sana and Boma and stuff.
- 1:03:01You know, like the flavors might be a little bit out there for
- 1:03:03some of you some people and but you might find something you
- 1:03:06really love in there. So finding finding something new
- 1:03:09to eat is definitely on that bucket list and maybe something
- 1:03:12you've always been eyeballing that you want to have but you
- 1:03:14never have. Like just Me Forever And the
- 1:03:17Nomad Lounge. Like that was a bucket list item
- 1:03:19forever and just finally did it. Just go for it.
- 1:03:22And along with that, going on a ride that you haven't been
- 1:03:26before, maybe something you've been apprehensive about or just
- 1:03:30something you've run out of time to do, like just put make it the
- 1:03:33first thing that you do. Yeah, yeah, The first thing.
- 1:03:37Yeah, that's so. And yeah, so you don't get too
- 1:03:43overwhelmed with the idea of it. And then it gets like it like
- 1:03:45shadows everything else because you're thinking about doing it.
- 1:03:47If it's something you're scared to do or just something that
- 1:03:50you're like, I went on some ride that I was like, I'm never going
- 1:03:53to go on this again after I went on it.
- 1:03:56I think it was, it was got to be California Adventure.
- 1:03:58I think it was like the Jumping Jellyfish, but I'd always pass
- 1:04:02that one. I was like, I'd never get to go
- 1:04:04on. That was Astro Orbiter for me.
- 1:04:07I went on it one for two trips ago and I never have to do it
- 1:04:10again. Yeah, but I didn't.
- 1:04:12You have that experience? Yeah.
- 1:04:14The death wheel. That's another one.
- 1:04:16Yep. Yes.
- 1:04:18Yes, obviously, know your limitations and you can respect
- 1:04:22those. And that's OK.
- 1:04:23And you don't have to do things that are horrifying to you, but
- 1:04:26you know, things that maybe you just a little step outside your
- 1:04:29comfort zone, you know, just give it a try.
- 1:04:31It's good. Yes.
- 1:04:33And kind of just in that realm of new visiting a new park that
- 1:04:37you haven't been to, we talked about the international parks,
- 1:04:39maybe that's something that is your bucket list or seeing a new
- 1:04:42show. So lots of new things that you
- 1:04:45can do in the parks that very simple to do if you're already
- 1:04:48going to be going, just take a look at that list.
- 1:04:51I literally started a list after I was looking at this, I started
- 1:04:55a list of things that I haven't done at Disney World.
- 1:04:58That way next time I go I have a list of like OK, I can pull off
- 1:05:01one or two things that like I haven't done before that I want
- 1:05:04to do. Yeah, yeah, that's.
- 1:05:06I started like a Google Doc with all the things that I want to do
- 1:05:09and I am doing a couple of them soon, So I'm excited for that.
- 1:05:15So then another thing you could do is do a non parks resort day
- 1:05:19at Disney World, which I think not.
- 1:05:20We've talked about this before. We did a whole episode on things
- 1:05:23you can do that are not going into the parks at Disney and
- 1:05:26there's a ton, it's a lot. So we won't get into the details
- 1:05:29here. It's not.
- 1:05:30It's not getting in the weeds, but there is so many things that
- 1:05:33you can do that are not in the resorts beyond or not, sorry,
- 1:05:37not in the parks and beyond like swimming at your resorts and
- 1:05:41things like it. Things that people already kind
- 1:05:42of know. There's lots of activities and
- 1:05:44extras and Disney Springs and lots, lots of stuff that you can
- 1:05:48do and a lot of it's free or included in your vacation.
- 1:05:52So finding some things like planning a a day to just be a
- 1:05:56resort stay, maybe it's the day you come in and it's you have a
- 1:05:58couple of hours of the day you leave, you know those are great
- 1:06:01days for that. Yeah.
- 1:06:03Another thing as far as Disney bucket list items would be when
- 1:06:06we touched on this briefly or a little bit ago.
- 1:06:08But splurging for table service or character dining, that is it
- 1:06:13typically in your budget. Saving a little bit of extra and
- 1:06:15splurging for that on a trip can make make some some good
- 1:06:19memories when it comes to that type of thing.
- 1:06:22Yeah. But I always think of, like
- 1:06:24Cinderella's Royal Table as one of those.
- 1:06:26Yeah, it's a lot. And you have to pay in advance
- 1:06:28for it. Yeah.
- 1:06:29So it's not like you can save up before you have to.
- 1:06:32Like when you go to book, you have to pay for it.
- 1:06:35So that's definitely one of those.
- 1:06:39I love that you. Oh, so of course visiting a new
- 1:06:42Epcot festival, that's that's always a great one.
- 1:06:44Especially if you get those little ones that are at the
- 1:06:46beginning of the year that are very short, like at the festival
- 1:06:49the arts and the the flowering gardens a little bit longer than
- 1:06:52that festival the arts like you have to really catch.
- 1:06:53It. Yes.
- 1:06:54It's like disappear. It's like barely six weeks long
- 1:06:56and then it's gone, yeah. Yeah, it's crazy that it's
- 1:06:59pretty short for Figman being like a huge character in the
- 1:07:02parks. It's shocking how short it is
- 1:07:04actually. And then I love that you put
- 1:07:07take a mixed fan. I felt like it was a good one.
- 1:07:13That's like, on my list eventually, to splurge and take
- 1:07:15a minivan just for funsies, because they're just they're
- 1:07:18just fun. They're expensive, but they're
- 1:07:20just fun. Yeah, well, I yeah, I I think I
- 1:07:26might do that sometime like a minivan.
- 1:07:28But I have to be with my family. I do it with my family.
- 1:07:31Yeah. Also another thing is one that
- 1:07:35I'm going to do this next Turk is go horseback riding.
- 1:07:38Sorry. So I'm really excited that I was
- 1:07:42given really sweet kind of Christmas gift from from a lot
- 1:07:46of the Pocket Fan. And so I'm kind of like picking
- 1:07:49and choosing some Disney things that I've never done before that
- 1:07:51I really wanted to do. And I really want to see an
- 1:07:53armadillo. And I heard that if you go
- 1:07:55horseback riding, you might see one.
- 1:07:57So that's my bucket list item is seeing an armadillo at Disney
- 1:08:02World. Because apparently when they
- 1:08:03were building Disney World, they were running around everywhere.
- 1:08:05And so they're like native. They said everywhere you'd go,
- 1:08:09there'd be an armadillo that like, crosses your path.
- 1:08:11So I'm like. What?
- 1:08:12I want to see an armadillo Disney World.
- 1:08:17Well, just remember that might might not be a given, and it
- 1:08:21will be a happy lovely by expectations, yeah.
- 1:08:27That's even if not, even if I was just a nice ride through the
- 1:08:31Fort Wayne area, I'll be happy. But and I rarely get to ever go
- 1:08:36horseback riding. That's such a like.
- 1:08:38It's so out of my price range. Excited for that?
- 1:08:40Yeah. The next one that we've got on
- 1:08:42our bucket list items is one that our friend Kathy B actually
- 1:08:45just mentioned over here is doing a tour.
- 1:08:47There are so many different tours that you can do at Disney
- 1:08:51World and Disneyland, More at Disney World, A few still at
- 1:08:54Disneyland that are good. But VIP tours, Behind the scenes
- 1:08:58tours at Epcot, Keys to the Kingdom.
- 1:09:01Animal Kingdom has a ton of experience tours that you can do
- 1:09:03Caring for giants. The Wild Africa trek up close
- 1:09:06with the rhinos at Disneyland, they've got Walt's Main Street
- 1:09:09Story tour that was free. Go in the apartment.
- 1:09:12That's like a great one, yeah. If you want to go in Walt's fire
- 1:09:15Firehouse apartment, take the the main streets who are in
- 1:09:18Disneyland. So many different options that
- 1:09:21you can choose there if you want to splurge, and some are a lot
- 1:09:24more. Reasonably priced than others.
- 1:09:27Some of those Animal Kingdom ones are really not that
- 1:09:29expensive when you down $40 each per person, and the Behind the
- 1:09:34Seeds tour is similarly priced. It's about about $40.00, so that
- 1:09:38one is, but then the other ones can get a little bit pricey.
- 1:09:42They have like AI can't remember what it's called, Sip of the
- 1:09:45Savannah, something like that. Tour it's again, Well, Kingdom
- 1:09:48where they do like a private vehicle out the Savannah and
- 1:09:51then they give you like meal and drinks and things like that.
- 1:09:53That one's that one's pricey and the one that's also like the
- 1:09:56Trek one Wild Africa track, that one's pretty expensive as well.
- 1:10:00Yeah, you get to go over like rope bridges and it's really
- 1:10:03cool, so right. Yes.
- 1:10:04So again, depends on what you're looking for, and depends on what
- 1:10:07you want to spend your money on, but lots of different options
- 1:10:10when it comes to that. Now, Michaela says.
- 1:10:13For Honeymoon we did horse carriage ride at Port Orleans.
- 1:10:16So pretty relaxing. That's another really great one.
- 1:10:19Yeah. Involving some horses, yes.
- 1:10:21Love it. Another one that I would love to
- 1:10:24someday do is taking a fireworks cruise.
- 1:10:27So they let you rent out the boats that they take you out on?
- 1:10:31Is that 7 Seas Lagoon? I always get the bodies of water
- 1:10:35wrong. Whatever I'm thinking about what
- 1:10:37their names the. One with the hotels, like right
- 1:10:40around it is 7 Seas because they're supposed to be hotels
- 1:10:43that represented the Seven Seas. Makes sense how I remember it.
- 1:10:46There you go. See and I'll they.
- 1:10:47Couldn't build them because there's sinkholes everywhere.
- 1:10:50Yeah, Florida, great. But you can rent out the boats
- 1:10:55on the Seven Seas Lagoon and take them out for a fireworks
- 1:10:59cruise. It's if you've got a big enough
- 1:11:02group, it's fairly decently priced because it is like per
- 1:11:07boat and you can have up to I think 10 people that go with
- 1:11:11you. So again, pricing dependent on
- 1:11:14what you want to spend? Yeah, I I really wanted to do
- 1:11:19that. But I was like, it's just a lot,
- 1:11:20it's a lot of money. Yeah.
- 1:11:22So I don't know. We'll see.
- 1:11:27You can also attend a party or after hours event, those
- 1:11:30especially we've seen a lot this year.
- 1:11:31We had the new Jollywood happened this year at Hollywood
- 1:11:35Studios and then of course Mickey's Very Merry Christmas
- 1:11:38party. And Mickey's not so scary
- 1:11:40Christmas party. All the Christmas all the part
- 1:11:42not Christmas party, Halloween party.
- 1:11:44Sorry, everybody's gonna come after me.
- 1:11:46No Halloween party. We just came out of Christmas.
- 1:11:49My brain's there. So, so there's there's all kinds
- 1:11:52of events that happen and then you know some of these festivals
- 1:11:55as well will have extra workshops and concerts and and
- 1:11:59things like that that you can can go to, which are really fun.
- 1:12:03Yeah, and a couple maybe less costly things that you can do.
- 1:12:12Buy a new type of souvenir. Buy buy yourself a pair of these
- 1:12:16lovely Mickey Ears. There's so many different
- 1:12:19options. And I know a lot of people are
- 1:12:21like, I don't know, just just do it.
- 1:12:23You'll be glad you did. They're fun.
- 1:12:26Jackie the enabler. I don't need more ears.
- 1:12:29I'm not enabling. I'm just encouraging.
- 1:12:32There's a difference. No, that's good, though.
- 1:12:33I mean, there's a lot of souvenirs.
- 1:12:35So I'm just like, oh, I love that.
- 1:12:36But I'm like, oh, that's But that's too much, you know?
- 1:12:38And I've like, for years I've said that's too much.
- 1:12:40And that's a really neat kind of thing.
- 1:12:42It's like maybe it's just become something really special, that
- 1:12:44that's like your thing that you save up for, you know?
- 1:12:47So I love that. Yeah.
- 1:12:49Yeah, a new mug. Mug's good one too.
- 1:12:51Offered like a cup, like big big Asian one.
- 1:12:56So also looking for hidden Mickeys.
- 1:12:58We've talked about this before, that's a really fun thing to
- 1:13:01start doing if you've never tried it.
- 1:13:02So that's a really fun. There's some great books out
- 1:13:04there about finding hidden Mickeys and also websites and
- 1:13:07stuff too if you don't want to buy a book for it.
- 1:13:10And then there's also I have a Disney History Scavenger Hunts.
- 1:13:14I have two currently that are at disneysisteron.com.
- 1:13:18If you just literally search for Disney History Scavenger Hunt,
- 1:13:22it's probably the first thing will pop up in Google.
- 1:13:24Like my SCO is like amazing for that, so.
- 1:13:28But it's also around and we'll try to link it in the show notes
- 1:13:32as well for anybody who wants to do them.
- 1:13:34But I have one for Magic Kingdom and I have one for Disneyland,
- 1:13:36and they're just like 20 items. They're printable, they're free,
- 1:13:40and then you can go and take them and look for some Disney
- 1:13:42history while you're in the parks.
- 1:13:45And it is something I'm considering making into a book
- 1:13:48with links to my content. So we'll see.
- 1:13:50If I'm some 2024, we'll see. Add it to the list.
- 1:13:55Somewhere, right? Yeah.
- 1:13:57There's other Disney scavenger hunts that are out there as
- 1:13:59well. So if you don't want to use any
- 1:14:01history specific one, there's plenty out there that you can
- 1:14:03search on Pinterest and things like that just to to do a fun
- 1:14:06little scavenger hunt with your kids or yourself.
- 1:14:11Absolutely. And I'll and we've talked about
- 1:14:13the Epcot Festival, scavenger hunts and all those types of
- 1:14:16things too. So lots of different hunting
- 1:14:18options. If that's something that if your
- 1:14:20kids are like my kids and they love to do those.
- 1:14:22So yes, definitely a fun thing to do when you're in the parks.
- 1:14:26Also another one that is fun to do while you're in the parks is
- 1:14:29trying a new Disney bound. Kate is like the the Queen of
- 1:14:33Disney. Bounds.
- 1:14:34No, I do enjoy. Doing it, yeah, lots of.
- 1:14:39It's lots of fun options. If you don't know what Disney
- 1:14:41Bounding is, it's essentially dressing so that your attire
- 1:14:45kind of alludes to a character. Think like a couple steps back
- 1:14:49from being in like a costume. You know that Disney does not
- 1:14:52allow anyone 14 and older. I think it is to do costumes in
- 1:14:58the parks, unless it's like a special like Halloween event.
- 1:15:01But if you want to dress like a character, you can Disney bound
- 1:15:04to wear your colors in the the combination of your outfit kind
- 1:15:07of allude to a character. Yeah, and it's real fun.
- 1:15:12And I like to make mine kind of subtle but still kind of there.
- 1:15:16And it's it's a really fun thing to do and there's all kinds of
- 1:15:19ideas on Pinterest for that. So if you need a place to go,
- 1:15:21that's where I would recommend searching.
- 1:15:23If you need Disneybound ideas, I found a few on there and then I
- 1:15:27just kind of tweak it and making my own as well.
- 1:15:29So. Yeah, and now if you've got
- 1:15:32younger kids that maybe don't want to bound but want to go all
- 1:15:35out when it comes to dressing up for in the parks.
- 1:15:39Doing something like Bippity Poppity Boutique can be a fun
- 1:15:43bucket list item for them to to be able to do when you're in the
- 1:15:46parks. Yeah, it's not a cheap one, but
- 1:15:50they do have they have options for boys as well as girls.
- 1:15:54They've got little like Prince outfits and things they can
- 1:15:57choose. Or pirate I think was the other
- 1:15:58one. Prince or Pirate?
- 1:15:59I don't know that the Pirate 1 exists anymore.
- 1:16:02It's been researched that but. Did I?
- 1:16:06Don't think it ever came back after the world shut down and
- 1:16:11then I think they announced that it wasn't coming back if I
- 1:16:14remember correctly. But I know the Prince One is an
- 1:16:16option at the at the current location in Magic Kingdom.
- 1:16:21And then they do have the Barber shop as well.
- 1:16:24I think that you can, there's a cheaper option that you can go
- 1:16:26and get a little haircut, which is fun.
- 1:16:28That one's much cheaper than, but a little bit different of
- 1:16:32experience. And if you if you, you know your
- 1:16:36kids can get all beautiful. But if you want to get maybe
- 1:16:39something too, There's a book, a spa appointment at the Grand
- 1:16:43Floridian. Some of the other places have
- 1:16:45spas as well, but I've actually been to the Grand Floridian one
- 1:16:49once. I'm not like a habit, like it
- 1:16:52was a gift. So it's like, you know, but but
- 1:16:56I think we got massages. I think we got couples massage
- 1:16:59or something. That was a gift gifted to us
- 1:17:00back when we had really little kids and it was so welcome.
- 1:17:03But it's a very relaxing spot. It's walkable, just right from
- 1:17:06the Grand Floridian, or you can take the monorail route there
- 1:17:09and it's it's wonderful. So that's definitely a splurge
- 1:17:12though, but that's a nice little self pampering thing.
- 1:17:16Yeah, and hey, that's what bucket list items are.
- 1:17:18Fun when you get to splurge a little, I think.
- 1:17:20That's right. That's right.
- 1:17:22I feel like I have to explain this next one.
- 1:17:24Yes, please call me. I know of it, but I'm going to
- 1:17:27let you because you know way more about it than I do.
- 1:17:30OK so this one I'm going to the prefaces was saying this is not
- 1:17:33for children. This is an adult only thing to
- 1:17:37do and or maybe like very older children, like older teens.
- 1:17:42But this is the chef's counter at Napa Rose.
- 1:17:45So if you've never heard of this, just buckle up for a
- 1:17:48second because it's a thing. OK, so I did this with my
- 1:17:51husband a long time ago now, but it's still still is going on
- 1:17:55there. We did it for an anniversary
- 1:17:57because it was special. It's usually around $150.00 per
- 1:18:00person. It can be a little bit more if
- 1:18:01you choose a package that comes with like wine that's curated
- 1:18:04for your meal. But it's you actually sit at the
- 1:18:08counter right around the kitchen and like a pastry chef area
- 1:18:13where they're preparing the food and you get to talk to the chef
- 1:18:16while they're preparing the food.
- 1:18:19And you get to kind of like watch what's happening in the
- 1:18:20kitchen. And then they get a six to seven
- 1:18:23course meal that they curate for you.
- 1:18:27So they ask you a bunch of questions about what you like to
- 1:18:30eat, what your flavors are, if you have any allergies, all
- 1:18:33those kinds of things. And then they just go and like
- 1:18:36make a meal. It's based on what they
- 1:18:38currently have available in the kitchen.
- 1:18:39So just like, just know that like, they can't just like go
- 1:18:42prepare something totally wild, but they will.
- 1:18:45Like my menu was completely different than my husband's
- 1:18:47because he likes spicy food and things like that.
- 1:18:49So, like, it was fascinating to see what they decided to give us
- 1:18:53to eat. Because you don't order
- 1:18:54yourself, you don't order what you want.
- 1:18:56They just give you food based on what they think you might like.
- 1:18:59And it's such a cool experience and getting to like, really
- 1:19:03watch them in action and see how the kitchen functions and stuff.
- 1:19:06And then it for $150.00 for a six to seven course meal at
- 1:19:09Disney and out of the best restaurants at Disney because
- 1:19:12it's Napa Rose is in the Grand Floridian in Disneyland, in case
- 1:19:15you don't know where it is. It's an amazing experience.
- 1:19:19So it's that being said, it's very difficult to get these
- 1:19:22reservations. OK, so here's what you do if you
- 1:19:25want to get a reservation. Write this down.
- 1:19:28Write it. Down so the reservations for the
- 1:19:33Napa Rose Chef's counter open on the first day of the month, two
- 1:19:37months prior to when you plan to dine.
- 1:19:39OK you have to call the restaurant directly.
- 1:19:43It is 714-300-7170 and you have to call precisely at 12 O 1:00
- 1:19:51AM on the day of that reservation.
- 1:19:54The the the availability opens for your intended date and then
- 1:19:58you leave a detailed message. So the restaurant probably won't
- 1:20:00be open. They're probably not going to
- 1:20:01answer the phone. You're going to leave a
- 1:20:02voicemail, OK? Oh my goodness, this is this is
- 1:20:06involved. Include your name, your contact
- 1:20:09information, the dining party, size of how many people you
- 1:20:11have, your desired reservation, date and preferences for a
- 1:20:14seating time. Then the Napros team will listen
- 1:20:17to those voicemails based on the order that they received them
- 1:20:20and give you basically a call back or and they'll or the and
- 1:20:23they'll like make the help you make the reservation.
- 1:20:25It might take a couple days for them to get to you depending on
- 1:20:27how many there are. So just like you book any dining
- 1:20:30reservation, you have to be on time, you have to be on your
- 1:20:33game, and you have to know what you're doing.
- 1:20:34OK, That's like not through the regular dining reservation
- 1:20:38thing. So this is like totally
- 1:20:39different thing. It's a very, very special and it
- 1:20:42is 100% worth it for the price that you pay.
- 1:20:45So if you want to splurge on, like the coolest dining
- 1:20:48experience you could have at Disneyland, in my opinion,
- 1:20:51outside of like Club 33, which I can't, you know, finagle your
- 1:20:56way and I know somebody. Why is Club 33 not on our?
- 1:20:59List I know. Right.
- 1:21:01I think it should be. Let's add that Nicks.
- 1:21:04But yeah, like, so anyway, Napa Rose Chef's counter.
- 1:21:09If it's not on your bucket list and you're a foodie, put it on
- 1:21:11your list now. There you go.
- 1:21:13Then I also say yes, Club 33 is for sure on a bucket list for
- 1:21:16everybody. It's not something that you can
- 1:21:18get to without knowing somebody. You got to know somebody.
- 1:21:22It's not something you can even buy your way into necessarily.
- 1:21:25You have to know somebody who is a member.
- 1:21:28I've I've gotten to go just because of a friend of a friend,
- 1:21:32kind of like invited me along, which was really sweet of my
- 1:21:35friend. It was actually a friend of mine
- 1:21:37who is a also a Disney creator who's a Disney photographer who
- 1:21:40married me and my husband. So it's just really fun that he
- 1:21:44invited me a lot. So it's a really cool experience
- 1:21:47if you ever get to go to Club 33, the food is amazing.
- 1:21:50It's outrageously priced. It's really neat.
- 1:21:54They have like those, like a baton, like a ghost bear that
- 1:21:58like disappears from the frame and shows up in another frame in
- 1:22:00another part of the restaurant that's.
- 1:22:02Cool. Yeah.
- 1:22:03And they have this very old French elevator lift that that
- 1:22:06used to be operational. It's not anymore.
- 1:22:08So they kind of just put it in the lounge.
- 1:22:10I haven't been in the dining room yet, so that's still on my
- 1:22:12bucket list because I was just in the lounge area.
- 1:22:14But they have the old vulture that used to like, listen in on
- 1:22:18conversations. They used to have birds that
- 1:22:19were supposed to, like, talk back to people after listening
- 1:22:21to their conversations. And then they realized that,
- 1:22:23like, people that go to Club 33 probably don't want people
- 1:22:25listening to their conversations.
- 1:22:27Yeah, probably. Know that.
- 1:22:29Probably, probably not. They also have like a a phone
- 1:22:32booth from The Happiest Millionaire.
- 1:22:34So if you're know that Disney movie, The actual prop from it
- 1:22:38is in Club 33, so there's lots of really special things you can
- 1:22:42see in there 100%. Put it on your bucket list.
- 1:22:45If it's not, it's just it's you have to know somebody, so go
- 1:22:49make friends, but not to get in the Club 33 because that's just
- 1:22:51icky. So yeah.
- 1:22:52Don't do that. Don't take advantage of people,
- 1:22:54but make new friends. Make new friends, yes.
- 1:22:59And then the last item that we have that we came up with on
- 1:23:03this kind of quick and concise bucket list so to speak is
- 1:23:09starting pin trading or just collecting pins of some sort.
- 1:23:13So we talked a little bit about Mickey Ears earlier, but maybe
- 1:23:17pin trading is more something that interests you.
- 1:23:20So maybe just just do it and I. I'd never really been a pin
- 1:23:26trader. I traded my first pin this last
- 1:23:28year, which was was very nice of perker Wallace Carp to give me a
- 1:23:32pin to trade. So I have now my pin and I will
- 1:23:34never let it go because I'm bad at pin trading.
- 1:23:36I collect, I collect them more than trade.
- 1:23:38And something I started doing for my family was I got them for
- 1:23:42Christmas. I got them all these like, felt
- 1:23:46hexagons that you can stick on the wall, that you can stick
- 1:23:48pins into. And then every time I go to
- 1:23:52Disney without them, I get a pin that reminds me of them and then
- 1:23:56they put on their wall and so they know I was thinking of them
- 1:23:58during the trip. It's like it was it's partially
- 1:24:00a way to like, remind, make me think like meaningful gifts for
- 1:24:03them instead of like just whatever I can find.
- 1:24:06Also like it's expensive to get gifts at Disney Disney when you
- 1:24:08go every month. So I was like what can I get
- 1:24:12that makes me, makes them know I was thinking of them, but isn't
- 1:24:14super expensive and is more meaningful.
- 1:24:16So that's what we do now is we all kind of collect pins from
- 1:24:19each other and they all kind of go on our wall and that's a
- 1:24:23little special pin thing that I started this year.
- 1:24:25So I love that. That's so sweet.
- 1:24:27Yeah. I am also bad at trading.
- 1:24:30I have taken like a pin to trade and then like I go to do it and
- 1:24:33I'm like, I don't, I don't know if I want to.
- 1:24:37I just want to keep it because I like the pin.
- 1:24:40I know, right? Yeah.
- 1:24:42It's the only ones I want to trade are like the garbage pins
- 1:24:44and I don't want to do that kind of do ones that are like, not,
- 1:24:47Yeah, sure. You know, so yeah, it's.
- 1:24:50Tricky. It's tricky.
- 1:24:52Maybe someday. Maybe I should add that I should
- 1:24:55I should? Step out of your comfort zone.
- 1:24:57Break your goats Rules about bin training, Jackie.
- 1:25:00Well, I'm also just like I made a rule for myself a long time
- 1:25:04ago that I'm really not supposed to collect pins because that
- 1:25:08will just open a giant can of worms that will just put me into
- 1:25:12mass amounts of Disney debt if I start doing pin collecting.
- 1:25:18So I told my husband this oh gosh, probably a decade ago.
- 1:25:21Like when he and I first started going to Disney together, I
- 1:25:24promised him that I would not do it.
- 1:25:27Well, I've been gifted pins by different people.
- 1:25:29So I have a small collection, but I don't think, I don't think
- 1:25:34I've purchased any of the ones that I have.
- 1:25:36I think they've all been gifted to me by various different
- 1:25:40lovely people. But yeah, so I I I'm, I'm just
- 1:25:44not allowed because I can't let myself do that.
- 1:25:47I just collect 25 pairs of ears. Instead.
- 1:25:50Me too. Well, I told that my husband, I
- 1:25:53wasn't going to get into like, lounge flies and then he bought
- 1:25:56me one because he's like, you should have one of these.
- 1:25:59And now I can't stop buying them.
- 1:26:01And I'm like, this is bad. They're expensive.
- 1:26:03I try to get them on sale. At least that's my goal.
- 1:26:05It's always getting like half price by great, they're spendy.
- 1:26:08Yes, they are. But they take it out of space
- 1:26:10too. Bucket list, bucket list, Bucket
- 1:26:13list. That's fine.
- 1:26:14It makes it. It's my, it's like, Oh my.
- 1:26:17But just bucket list it and it makes it OK.
- 1:26:19I know one of the things on my bucket list that I didn't put on
- 1:26:22here is that I just, I want to collect some, like, Disney
- 1:26:26memorabilia. That's like, like, I want like
- 1:26:28some concept art. I want some like a cell one day,
- 1:26:32you know, someday it's gonna be a long time.
- 1:26:34I want something from the Disney parks that, you know, I have
- 1:26:37things from opening year because from behind me, because of my
- 1:26:40mom. But you know, I just want like
- 1:26:43to get AI, see these things at auction all the time, because
- 1:26:46I'm always on the auctions just looking at the stuff posted, not
- 1:26:49to buy, just to look at it. I love that.
- 1:26:53Someday I'm going to buy one. That's that's what I'm going to
- 1:26:55do. Bucket list item.
- 1:26:56Someday. Yeah.
- 1:26:58There you go. Yeah.
- 1:26:59Lounge flies are dangerous. I agree.
- 1:27:00Yes. Yes.
- 1:27:02Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:27:07Well, we won't go there. All right, well, shall we move
- 1:27:10on to our final portion for our podcast episode?
- 1:27:13Here would be our Ask the Mom section which if you don't know
- 1:27:18what this is, this is the where we take a question from our Mom
- 1:27:21St. audience and we it's usually not related to the topic we're
- 1:27:26talking about and then we just we chat about it a little bit.
- 1:27:28So, Jackie, what do we got for? Ask the Moms.
- 1:27:31Yes. So this one is is kind of
- 1:27:33loaded, so we may just have to be a little brief with it and
- 1:27:35maybe can elaborate on it in a future episode.
- 1:27:38But the question is, I'm taking a last minute trip.
- 1:27:41What are the top priority things that I need to make sure are
- 1:27:45done before I leave for this trip?
- 1:27:47So this is, this is not me, OK. We're talking about my over
- 1:27:53planning but last minute trip what are like top priority
- 1:27:58things that you need to make sure are done before you leave.
- 1:28:01We're talking on the Disney side, not like in your home, no,
- 1:28:04right. Yes, I would say on the Disney
- 1:28:06side because like tracking and all that kind of stuff are kind
- 1:28:08of those those Givens that like we have no control over.
- 1:28:12But I would say yes, on the Disney end of things, what are
- 1:28:15the things that you need to make sure are done before you leave?
- 1:28:18Like, check the big The big things aren't in place, and I
- 1:28:21did, since I travel often and sometimes I forget to book
- 1:28:24things because I'm like, I don't plan far in advance for
- 1:28:27everything. It's just me.
- 1:28:28Make sure that you have, like, your transportation to and from
- 1:28:32airports on both sides, right? Make sure you have your park
- 1:28:35ticket, your park reservation. Make sure they're in your app or
- 1:28:39accessible or linked to your magic band.
- 1:28:40If you have a magic band, make sure your hotel reservation is
- 1:28:45not canceled. That's important, that is.
- 1:28:48Very important. If or at least ready to like
- 1:28:51that, it's all there. You can also check in online.
- 1:28:53If it's a Disney World one, you can check in in advance.
- 1:28:56It's not necessary to check in in advance, but you can.
- 1:28:58And you can put some preferences about where you'd like to stay
- 1:29:01ish on some of those. Do you want to say a few?
- 1:29:06I'm talking a lot. No, I think you hit most of what
- 1:29:08I would say just those big items because pretty much anything
- 1:29:12else if you're looking at Genie Plus or dining or the little
- 1:29:17extras, you can handle that like once you get there for the most
- 1:29:20part if you're not super particular, but yeah, making
- 1:29:24sure your flight, your transportation, your hotel and
- 1:29:28your tickets, like those are your your big ones.
- 1:29:32Yeah. And dining is something where
- 1:29:35you can. If you're already late in the
- 1:29:37game for dining, then it's like, you know, you're more likely to
- 1:29:41maybe get some cancellations that, you know, within the two
- 1:29:45days before and 24 hours before. You might be able to cut, catch
- 1:29:48a couple cancellations if you really want a dining
- 1:29:50reservation. Otherwise, I wouldn't stress out
- 1:29:53about it. I would just plan to eat quick
- 1:29:55service. That'll just be easier for you
- 1:29:57in general and you don't have to stress about.
- 1:29:58And there's lots of great places to eat, more so in Disneyland
- 1:30:01than Disney World. But right, there's some great
- 1:30:04there's always options for quick service where you don't have to
- 1:30:07make a reservation. Yeah.
- 1:30:08And I would also include with that if you're someone who
- 1:30:11typically plans like a year, nine months, a year out and you
- 1:30:14have like a typical planner that you use.
- 1:30:16We talked about planners earlier, we have a Mom St. one.
- 1:30:19I would still like read through the items on there to like help
- 1:30:22make sure you've got everything too when it comes to packing,
- 1:30:25when it comes to booking reservations, whatever it may
- 1:30:29be, even if you're not doing it in the time frame that's on that
- 1:30:32list, it's still something to consider doing.
- 1:30:35So I would still go through and read through a standard booking
- 1:30:40timeline and make sure that you have everything done through
- 1:30:43there too. Yeah, on a packing list too is a
- 1:30:46is a good one because I can't tell you how many times I've
- 1:30:48gotten. They're like, I forgot my
- 1:30:49sunscreen, I forgot that, you know, I forgot my sunglasses.
- 1:30:52Like that's the basic things. And I like, I forgot like pain
- 1:30:56medicine this last trip. And I was like, it's expensive
- 1:30:58to buy pain. Medicine there.
- 1:31:01My last trip when literally the one that we just went on in
- 1:31:03November, I forgot my all my pajamas.
- 1:31:07Awesome. I was like.
- 1:31:08Cool. Luckily, like, I had clothes.
- 1:31:11You know what I mean? Like, so, like, we could make it
- 1:31:12work. But I was like, I literally got
- 1:31:14there the first night. I was like, I don't, OK.
- 1:31:17I forgot my pajamas and my husband was like, how I was
- 1:31:20like, I don't know, OK? But you packed them for your
- 1:31:23kids, I'm sure, and. When I forgot my swimsuit, which
- 1:31:27I didn't end up needing because my kids were sick anyway and we
- 1:31:30didn't end up going swimming. But Swimsuit's a.
- 1:31:33Tough one. If you forget that, it's like so
- 1:31:35you're almost as done or you have to go to target or
- 1:31:38something and. Like, make it happen, right?
- 1:31:40And I was like, well, I was like that one I can deal without
- 1:31:42because like, even if they had gone swimming, I can just go sit
- 1:31:44on the edge because that's usually what I do anyway.
- 1:31:46I'm not a huge swimmer anyway, but it was like, yeah, my
- 1:31:49swimsuit and my pajamas. I was like, well, awesome.
- 1:31:53Well. You know when you still had a
- 1:31:56great trip so it's like you're not going to panic, but if you
- 1:31:58don't have your like, well, park reservations for Disney World
- 1:32:01are kind of changing soon So that but.
- 1:32:03But. Don't let that mislead you.
- 1:32:06Yes, just. Because you have everything you
- 1:32:08need and it's all in place. And also I would, I would say
- 1:32:11also if you're going to Disney World in particular, know your
- 1:32:14virtual cues for the days you're going.
- 1:32:16Make sure you you're on top of the rides that you absolutely
- 1:32:19want to do for each day, even if you do this on the airplane on
- 1:32:23the way there, which I do that because I go often.
- 1:32:29But, you know, sketch out a general sketch of like what it
- 1:32:31is you want to do every day, even if it's written in your
- 1:32:34notes app on your phone. Just like have have an idea of
- 1:32:36what you want to do so that you're not taking you just like,
- 1:32:39oh gosh, we totally missed the boat.
- 1:32:41We didn't wake up by 7:00. We didn't book the thing and now
- 1:32:43we can't go at it, you know. Right.
- 1:32:44So. I often will like again, I'm
- 1:32:47just crazy. I I plan things on spreadsheets,
- 1:32:50but then like sometimes I do transfer them to the Notes app
- 1:32:53because they have the little checklist that you can check
- 1:32:56mark. Love the checks.
- 1:33:00It's so satisfying, I know. It's so satisfying.
- 1:33:03Then it moves to the bottom of the list and.
- 1:33:04I'm like ha done. So great.
- 1:33:07Yep. I have a question from Ryan.
- 1:33:09Are there stores close to Walt Disney World property like
- 1:33:11Walmart and Target? And I don't have a car.
- 1:33:15So, Jackie, you got to answer. Yes.
- 1:33:17I became very well acquainted with the Walmart close to
- 1:33:20property on my last trip because I had to go there several times
- 1:33:23for medicine for my children because they were sick.
- 1:33:25Kids. Yes, but but yes, there are, I
- 1:33:29mean like 3 Walmarts within a 20 minute drive and at least one or
- 1:33:33two targets too. So like, yes, plenty of things
- 1:33:36that you can either Uber or Lyft to.
- 1:33:39There's also like and if you're looking like grocery store
- 1:33:42specific, they're also like specific grocery stores and lots
- 1:33:45of things around. So yeah, definitely easy to
- 1:33:48either drive there or like. I think I even picked one of the
- 1:33:51ones that was further out that I went to because I was like, I
- 1:33:54need to get away from the crazy because it was Thanksgiving
- 1:33:57week. So like there were so many cars
- 1:33:59everywhere. And that one I think even still
- 1:34:01only took me 15 minutes to get to from our resort.
- 1:34:04So when I. I always do like because I don't
- 1:34:08have a car when I go to Disney and I do, you can order
- 1:34:12groceries online. I do like the Amazon one.
- 1:34:16I don't remember what it's called Prime Now.
- 1:34:17I think it's what it's called. It was on Prime Now and like
- 1:34:20I've you can order things that are not just like grocery items.
- 1:34:23If you need like toiletries and things like that, I forget your
- 1:34:26toothbrush or whatever. So that I've done that.
- 1:34:29And then as long as it doesn't have alcohol in it, Bell
- 1:34:32services can usually hold it for you and you can get it.
- 1:34:35When you come back to your resort, you can call and they'll
- 1:34:37they'll give it to you there, they'll bring it up to your
- 1:34:39room. So just make sure you have you
- 1:34:41tip them. So have some cash on hand with
- 1:34:43that, Yes, but that's handy. Yeah, I always have to remind
- 1:34:47myself when I'm packing because packing just stresses me out.
- 1:34:50I always have to remind myself again.
- 1:34:52If I forget something, there is a way that I can get it.
- 1:34:55If it's something that I absolutely need, I just may have
- 1:34:58to go without for a few hours or whatever it may be.
- 1:35:01But I just I I always have to remind myself that which I feel
- 1:35:05like I must have reminded myself that too many times this last
- 1:35:07trip because I forgot so many things, because I don't normally
- 1:35:11forget things. But you know, it happens.
- 1:35:13Yeah. What all it's crazy time of year
- 1:35:14you went during Christmas time so that that'll do it.
- 1:35:17But they I I'm a traditional over Packer, like chronic over
- 1:35:21Packer. Every single time.
- 1:35:23I'm like I'm only going for like 2 days to Disneyland.
- 1:35:25I have two suitcases. I'm like who am I?
- 1:35:27Like it's crazy but I need like I need.
- 1:35:29I found though I enjoy my trip less if I'm if I don't want to
- 1:35:33wear the only things I brought to wear and I'm like don't have
- 1:35:35options and then I get really stressed out.
- 1:35:37So I was like, I'm not going to do that to myself.
- 1:35:39I'm just going to pack when I need some.
- 1:35:41Yeah. So moral of the story, even if
- 1:35:43you do a last minute trip, yes, it's going to be OK, You're
- 1:35:47still going to be able to do the majority of things that you want
- 1:35:49to do. And you were talking.
- 1:35:50I do just want to mention you were talking about dining
- 1:35:52reservations. I was there the week of
- 1:35:55Thanksgiving and like Topolino's terrace, that morning time
- 1:36:00character meal is a hard reservation to get.
- 1:36:02There were like 6 available week of.
- 1:36:05Yeah, it had open pretty a lot. And when I I had had several
- 1:36:10like dining alerts set up, didn't get anything for the six
- 1:36:15weeks that I had set it up for and then there were like four or
- 1:36:19five at least that I know for sure were like popped up while
- 1:36:23we were there, so. You know, there's a lot of
- 1:36:25people that hoard them. You know, they they make a lot
- 1:36:28and they're like, we'll probably won't use all these, but we'll
- 1:36:30have them just in case. And though that's annoying, but
- 1:36:34it also is nice for how many usually open up the week of when
- 1:36:39you're in. So it's great for last minute
- 1:36:41travelers because you're more likely to get a reservation with
- 1:36:45that. So thank you to those of you who
- 1:36:48send us questions for Ask the Moms.

- 1:38:09planning to do in 2024. As far as what we're planning to
- 1:38:14do in 2024. Kate and I met and kind of
- 1:38:17mapped out some ideas for what we have coming.
- 1:38:21Kate mentioned some Disney Cruise Line information coming
- 1:38:26your way that'll be closer to like spring summertime, but
- 1:38:30we're going to be talking about all sorts of different things.
- 1:38:33The next podcast episode that we do, I think is a really good
- 1:38:36one. We're going to be talking about
- 1:38:38doing Disney Parks with motion sickness and maybe other things
- 1:38:43that might affect your trip in that realm.
- 1:38:46So that's going to be one that we're going to be talking about.
- 1:38:49We're going to be talking in Depthly about AD Rs Advanced
- 1:38:52Dining reservations coming up. We have a whole series about
- 1:38:55those and doing those with kids. So lots of good stuff coming
- 1:38:59your way. And as always, if you have ideas
- 1:39:01or topics that you feel like need covered, please let us
- 1:39:04know. Thank you everybody for being

- 1:39:17come. So Jackie, do you have any final
- 1:39:19thoughts as we wrap? Up here, I think I said it all.
