- 0:02Speaker 1: This is an Unspoiled Network podcast. This is spoil Me,
- 0:09Speaker 1: covering one piece episodes seven eighty nine through seven ninety one,
- 0:17Speaker 1: The Capital City Falls, Big Mom and Jimbay, the Emperor's Castle,
- 0:24Speaker 1: arriving at the hole Cake Island, and a mysterious forest
- 0:29Speaker 1: full of candies Loofy versus Loofy. In these episodes, we
- 0:38Speaker 1: get to explore some more of these wild islands. We
- 0:41Speaker 1: get to run into fish that are they look like fruit,
- 0:45Speaker 1: they're actually fish, but then they seem to actually be
- 0:49Speaker 1: fruit in the end anyway, and Jimbay is here, and
- 0:53Speaker 1: I honestly can't decide how I feel about this. I
- 0:56Speaker 1: wasn't expecting to see him in this timeline.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Welcome to spoil Me, Welcome to.
- 1:19Speaker 1: The show everyone. I am Natasha. Thank you very much
- 1:22Speaker 1: to Florian for commissioning this episode. I don't think Florian
- 1:26Speaker 1: is here in the chat today, which is unusual. But Florian,
- 1:29Speaker 1: if you're out there listening, we miss you. I have
- 1:33Speaker 1: Seraphim here with me today though, so Hi Saraphem. So
- 1:38Speaker 1: this section is really really wild, guys. There are some
- 1:43Speaker 1: I'm just never going to get tired of this esthetic
- 1:48Speaker 1: when we land on like the Candy Island. I mean,
- 1:51Speaker 1: come on, it just doesn't get much better than it's
- 1:55Speaker 1: like Hanseling Brettel, but a whole island. Absolutely, And then
- 2:00Speaker 1: there's this weird thing living there, and I don't know
- 2:03Speaker 1: what to because, you know, we see what looks like
- 2:06Speaker 1: Soanjy and then eventually we see what looks like Loofy,
- 2:11Speaker 1: and I was thinking at that point, Okay, so this
- 2:15Speaker 1: is a weird creature that imitates other people. So it
- 2:18Speaker 1: was imitating Soanjy and now it's imitating Loofy. But later
- 2:23Speaker 1: on we actually see the sany looking person walking away
- 2:28Speaker 1: smirking to themselves, so and we see them while Loofy
- 2:33Speaker 1: is fighting himself. So it seems like those are distinct
- 2:37Speaker 1: different beings. And honestly, I don't know if it's just
- 2:42Speaker 1: that there's more than one of these creatures on this island,
- 2:46Speaker 1: if they are just shape shifters. It's sort of odd though, because,
- 2:50Speaker 1: like a lot of times, when you run into a
- 2:53Speaker 1: plotline that has shape shifters in it, what you get
- 2:56Speaker 1: is a trickster type of character who is trying to
- 3:00Speaker 1: get something out of the rest of the people that
- 3:04Speaker 1: know this person. They're trying to maybe cause trouble, or
- 3:08Speaker 1: they're trying to access something that only this person would
- 3:11Speaker 1: have access to. And so far, the thing that Lufy
- 3:15Speaker 1: is fighting it seems like just is straight up copying him,
- 3:20Speaker 1: with no further motive that I can see. And it's
- 3:24Speaker 1: possible that we just don't know what that motive is yet.
- 3:27Speaker 1: It's also possible that like it's distracting him so that
- 3:32Speaker 1: something can be done to his crewmates potentially, you know,
- 3:36Speaker 1: I don't know, but it just didn't go the way
- 3:39Speaker 1: that I was expecting it to go. And if this
- 3:41Speaker 1: is a whole island of like beings who can imitate
- 3:44Speaker 1: other people, like how did they imitate Soanjy? Because I
- 3:51Speaker 1: thought that he was in a different area, And where
- 3:55Speaker 1: did they get like the template for him? Or were
- 3:57Speaker 1: they ordered to imitate him? Because somebody is aware that
- 4:02Speaker 1: Lufy is coming for Soanji, and so they're like, oh,
- 4:04Speaker 1: I know, we'll send him on a wild goose chase
- 4:07Speaker 1: in this direction. He's going to think he's heading after
- 4:10Speaker 1: Sanji and it actually won't be at all. You know,
- 4:13Speaker 1: is it possible that there's nothing magical about the person
- 4:17Speaker 1: who looks like Sony and actually it's just maybe a
- 4:20Speaker 1: relative of Soanji who looks enough like him that if
- 4:24Speaker 1: we like do his hair a certain way and put
- 4:26Speaker 1: him in a suit, we get somebody who looks close
- 4:30Speaker 1: enough that our friends can't tell from far away. I
- 4:33Speaker 1: also thought it was funny that this Sanji is sucking
- 4:36Speaker 1: on a lollipop, which is definitely like a reference to
- 4:39Speaker 1: the kid friendly version of him. I you know, that
- 4:44Speaker 1: was a fun little thing that I don't think I
- 4:48Speaker 1: would have known about if my husband hadn't explained to
- 4:50Speaker 1: me about how the smoking was not allowed. And honestly,
- 4:56Speaker 1: I'm not even like mad about the fact that smoking
- 4:58Speaker 1: isn't allowed. It's like it makes sense. But I also,
- 5:02Speaker 1: you know, if it's already in there, just fucking leave it.
- 5:08Speaker 1: What are you doing? All right? But let's begin at
- 5:11Speaker 1: the beginning. So the capital city falls and this is
- 5:17Speaker 1: more of Big Mom's rampage. I said in the last
- 5:23Speaker 1: episode that Big Mom is acting the way that I
- 5:26Speaker 1: do when I'm on my period and I'm craving something.
- 5:29Speaker 1: And I really stand by that because there's a point
- 5:31Speaker 1: where she like tastes something and she just goes, that's
- 5:35Speaker 1: not the right flavor. And I was just like, oh, man, Yeah,
- 5:39Speaker 1: like you try and satisfy the craving that you have
- 5:43Speaker 1: with something that's like close but not quite, and you know,
- 5:48Speaker 1: sometimes that works. Sometimes you are able to like get
- 5:52Speaker 1: close enough even though you can't get a hold of
- 5:55Speaker 1: the actual thing, and it just sort of scratches the
- 5:58Speaker 1: edge and you're done. But there are those times where
- 6:03Speaker 1: it's like the sort of thing that I often think
- 6:06Speaker 1: of is when you're on a diet and you think,
- 6:10Speaker 1: I really want chocolate cake, but I can't have chocolate cake,
- 6:14Speaker 1: so let me try something like that, and you make
- 6:18Speaker 1: like a diet version, and you wind up eating the
- 6:23Speaker 1: whole thing that you made because it wasn't satisfying that craving,
- 6:27Speaker 1: and probably you end up consuming more calories than you
- 6:30Speaker 1: would have had you just let yourself have a reasonably
- 6:35Speaker 1: sized slice of chocolate cake. Not that Big Mom is
- 6:39Speaker 1: worried about calories at all, so she's a There's there's
- 6:47Speaker 1: an addition to this part of the universe, guys that
- 6:54Speaker 1: I'm not a big fan of, and I'm really curious about,
- 6:57Speaker 1: like how often this is going to turn out to
- 7:00Speaker 1: be a thing, the crookum bouche that eventually I'm getting
- 7:07Speaker 1: ahead of myself a little bit, but Jimbay shows up
- 7:10Speaker 1: with this thing had that every single individual little cream
- 7:17Speaker 1: puff on this thing is sentient and alive and has
- 7:23Speaker 1: a face on it. And later on we have like
- 7:28Speaker 1: big moms sitting down in her throne room to talk
- 7:31Speaker 1: to Jimbae and do this negotiation, and the little like
- 7:37Speaker 1: pettyfour cakes that she's eating all have faces on them
- 7:42Speaker 1: as well. I you, guys, I don't like this development
- 7:49Speaker 1: at all. We're really like in the territory of animals
- 7:56Speaker 1: that are being used by some nefarious character. It's desserts.
- 8:02Speaker 1: So it's not as bad because they don't have cute
- 8:05Speaker 1: little animal like bodies, but it still seems like they
- 8:09Speaker 1: kind of don't want to be eaten. You know, I
- 8:12Speaker 1: was enjoying Shippy Shippye because it seemed like, ah, here's
- 8:17Speaker 1: somebody loves his job. You know, here's a ship that
- 8:21Speaker 1: likes to be a ship, and a door that loves
- 8:24Speaker 1: to be a door, and a carpet that loves to
- 8:26Speaker 1: be a carpet. But then in this it seems like
- 8:31Speaker 1: we've got desserts that wish they weren't and it seems
- 8:40Speaker 1: like this is only really happening when we've got big
- 8:46Speaker 1: mom in the picture, and she's the one that's about
- 8:49Speaker 1: to eat them. So it's distinctly possible that it's just
- 8:53Speaker 1: sort of meant to like make her more repulsive somehow
- 8:59Speaker 1: and just really be like a commentary on her character.
- 9:04Speaker 1: But if so, it's not quite landing for me, you
- 9:11Speaker 1: know what I mean. I think it's just like, I
- 9:14Speaker 1: think that's what it is, is that it's supposed to be,
- 9:17Speaker 1: because you know, we watched all of her soldiers taking
- 9:21Speaker 1: down these islands and killing people so that they could
- 9:23Speaker 1: get supplies for this party, and then we have her
- 9:26Speaker 1: singing this whole song about how like this is going
- 9:29Speaker 1: to be an amazing party and whether or not it's
- 9:34Speaker 1: blood or raspberry jam, she doesn't care, it still tastes good.
- 9:39Speaker 1: So we had this setting up how ruthless she is
- 9:44Speaker 1: and how single minded she is about getting the thing
- 9:48Speaker 1: that she's after. I don't feel that we needed to
- 9:51Speaker 1: add anthropomorphized. Man. That was hard for me to say
- 9:58Speaker 1: desserts into the mix, do you know what I'm saying?
- 10:02Speaker 1: It just I don't know. It just seems like that
- 10:06Speaker 1: has to be what is being attempted here, though, because
- 10:11Speaker 1: otherwise I can't really think of a reason, and I
- 10:14Speaker 1: I don't know, I'm just curious what you guys all
- 10:18Speaker 1: think of this. So, like, almost the first half of
- 10:24Speaker 1: this episode is just more of Big Mom running around
- 10:28Speaker 1: destroying her city, and eventually her son pops up and
- 10:33Speaker 1: his name is Muscato, which is a dessert wine for
- 10:37Speaker 1: those who did not know, and people are telling him
- 10:41Speaker 1: to get out of the way because she's going to
- 10:44Speaker 1: kill you, and honestly, Moscato is like showing some real
- 10:48Speaker 1: backbone here and being like, get out of the way
- 10:50Speaker 1: and just let her destroy the entire city.
- 10:53Speaker 2: No, I'm not fucking doing that. And I was like,
- 10:55Speaker 2: you know what, good.
- 10:56Speaker 1: For you, buddy. But then it turns out that Big
- 11:02Speaker 1: Mom has an ability that nobody has mentioned, or if
- 11:08Speaker 1: it has been mentioned, I don't remember it. I'll say
- 11:12Speaker 1: that she is able to steal years of your life
- 11:21Speaker 1: away from you, and she steals twenty years from Moscato.
- 11:30Speaker 1: It's a weird the way that it's animated. It's like
- 11:33Speaker 1: his there's like a mist that sort of forms and
- 11:35Speaker 1: swirls around him, and it reminded me of hocus Pocus
- 11:43Speaker 1: and the way the witches feed, you know, the little
- 11:46Speaker 1: girl a bit of their brew and then they can
- 11:49Speaker 1: just slurp the life off of her. I don't like
- 12:00Speaker 1: Scatcho didn't seem old enough to me to die as
- 12:05Speaker 1: a result of this. I thought, you know, I thought
- 12:08Speaker 1: that what we were going to see she pulls twenty
- 12:10Speaker 1: years off him, that it was going to be he
- 12:13Speaker 1: aged in front of us, and instead it seems like
- 12:18Speaker 1: he drops dead, and uh, yeah, I don't know. I'm
- 12:25Speaker 1: just surprised by it because he looked like he was
- 12:28Speaker 1: maybe thirty.
- 12:29Speaker 2: You know.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Saraphim says, I just saw it as an extension of
- 12:36Speaker 1: everything around her coming to life. Well, but Jimbay is
- 12:41Speaker 1: coming to her with the crocam bush and it's already
- 12:45Speaker 1: alive when it's on his surfboard. I'm not sure if
- 12:50Speaker 1: it is a surfboard, but I'm kind of calling it
- 12:52Speaker 1: that because that's how I imagine it. So is it
- 12:56Speaker 1: supposed to be that like even when things are fun
- 13:00Speaker 1: away from her, this happens. Or is it that it's
- 13:05Speaker 1: like if anything that is made on the island that
- 13:12Speaker 1: she owns, you know, I don't know, I or is
- 13:17Speaker 1: it like the chefs that were working on it have
- 13:21Speaker 1: the power to do this because of her proximity. I'm
- 13:28Speaker 1: asking a lot of questions here that, like, I'm not
- 13:30Speaker 1: sure that there's actually an answer. I don't know how
- 13:33Speaker 1: much anybody really cared about this other than me, and
- 13:37Speaker 1: that's fine, but it is just noticeable to me that
- 13:43Speaker 1: everything's got little faces on it all of a sudden,
- 13:46Speaker 1: and maybe Saraphim says, just keep watching. The whole life
- 13:51Speaker 1: force thing gets explained later and this might make more sense, Okay,
- 13:56Speaker 1: I trust you. Anyway, the way that Jimby decides to
- 14:03Speaker 1: handle this is he literally just like chucks the Krokum
- 14:06Speaker 1: bouche at her and it lands in her mouth and
- 14:12Speaker 1: it's like stuffing a pacifier into a child's mouth and
- 14:19Speaker 1: just quiets her down. And immediately she's got that swirl
- 14:24Speaker 1: in her eyes to indicate that she is not in
- 14:27Speaker 1: her right mind. And as she begins to chew and realizes, oh,
- 14:32Speaker 1: this is the krokum bush. This is the thing I
- 14:34Speaker 1: was after, she is covered in sparkles for a moment
- 14:40Speaker 1: and then falls over and says, now that is yummy,
- 14:46Speaker 1: and her eyes close and finally when she opens them again,
- 14:51Speaker 1: they're back to normal. Oh okay, guys, I just saw
- 14:57Speaker 1: I just saw I missed it somehow that the krokuambush
- 15:01Speaker 1: the little cream puffs as they're going down her throat.
- 15:03Speaker 1: One of them says, if I'm delicious, then I can
- 15:06Speaker 1: die happy. And I feel much better about it now
- 15:10Speaker 1: that I saw that. I somehow missed it. I watched
- 15:12Speaker 1: this section twice too, but somehow I miss that. I
- 15:16Speaker 1: think maybe it was simply when she begins to open
- 15:19Speaker 1: her mouth with food still in it. I was so
- 15:22Speaker 1: grossed out by it that I just looked away from
- 15:24Speaker 1: the screen instinctively, so I think that's why I missed it.
- 15:28Speaker 1: But it seems like the desserts are resigned to their
- 15:32Speaker 1: fate as long as they did the things, So okay, cool,
- 15:36Speaker 1: I'm fine with that. And let's see, I'm trying to
- 15:41Speaker 1: see they have to work on getting the capital restored
- 15:46Speaker 1: in time for the wedding because she has done so
- 15:49Speaker 1: much damage, walking through everything like she's fucking Godzilla. And
- 15:55Speaker 1: then she looks down at Jimbay and it turns out
- 16:00Speaker 1: what he is here for is he is looking to
- 16:05Speaker 1: be released from a vow he made to Big Mom,
- 16:13Speaker 1: like proposing his loyalty to her. And it's sort of
- 16:23Speaker 1: interesting because, like I he's he I think what it
- 16:29Speaker 1: is is that he's doing everything very by the book,
- 16:32Speaker 1: and I just wasn't really like prepared for him to
- 16:36Speaker 1: follow the rules so much I expected him to. Just
- 16:40Speaker 1: if I feel like going off with the straw hats
- 16:43Speaker 1: and being loyal to Loofy, then That's what I'm gonna
- 16:45Speaker 1: fucking do. But he's very aware of like, I made
- 16:50Speaker 1: a promise and I'm going to only back out of
- 16:55Speaker 1: it if she actually allows me to do that, and
- 16:58Speaker 1: spoiler alert, she will allow him to do that, like technically,
- 17:05Speaker 1: but he has to pay such a price for it
- 17:08Speaker 1: that it's like on the table by the time this
- 17:13Speaker 1: section ends whether or not he actually survives, and that sucks.
- 17:20Speaker 1: There's a roulette wheel that he has to spin that
- 17:25Speaker 1: has like different options for things he could lose between
- 17:28Speaker 1: a leg or an arm or his head, and then
- 17:32Speaker 1: there's like one section that's got a crowned head on it,
- 17:36Speaker 1: which I'm assuming is like you get out of it
- 17:38Speaker 1: and you don't wind up having to pay a price
- 17:40Speaker 1: at all, But it's certainly the minority in terms of
- 17:45Speaker 1: the options on the roulette wheel. It is not like
- 17:48Speaker 1: you are more likely to get away with it, and
- 17:53Speaker 1: there is another character that we wind up touching base with.
- 17:59Speaker 1: So he talked to his own crew, jimbe Did, about
- 18:05Speaker 1: how he wanted to join up with the Straw Hats,
- 18:08Speaker 1: and evidently he had talked so much about Lufy that
- 18:15Speaker 1: when he comes to them asking would you guys be
- 18:20Speaker 1: cool with it? If everybody is just sort of like, yeah, dude,
- 18:25Speaker 1: we kind of saw this coming. You talked NonStop about
- 18:28Speaker 1: this guy. And he's like, oh my god, did I
- 18:31Speaker 1: really And there's a character I feel like we've seen
- 18:36Speaker 1: him before, Aladdin, and he is evidently married to one
- 18:43Speaker 1: of Big Mom's family. She is a hammerhead shark type character.
- 18:50Speaker 1: I'm trying to remember what her first name is.
- 18:54Speaker 2: But it's odd.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Because she seems like it's like she's a bully, but
- 19:01Speaker 1: also that she actually likes Aladdin her husband. So it's
- 19:06Speaker 1: sort of like she's very scary and unpredictable and he
- 19:10Speaker 1: is uncomfortable with her, but that like, for the most part,
- 19:14Speaker 1: it works in his favor because she does seem to
- 19:20Speaker 1: like have some kind of real affection toward him. And
- 19:25Speaker 1: this it's just weird because everybody acts very afraid of her,
- 19:29Speaker 1: but she doesn't wind up like getting violent in this section,
- 19:32Speaker 1: and there is something like very triggering to me about
- 19:35Speaker 1: a character who doesn't overtly get violent, but it's clear
- 19:38Speaker 1: everybody around them is expecting them to bust into violence
- 19:42Speaker 1: at any moment. I always just hate that. So we
- 19:45Speaker 1: shall see what's going on with her eventually, maybe in
- 19:50Speaker 1: more detail. I don't know if it's going to be
- 19:52Speaker 1: in this arc or not. Sorry, Seraphim says Jim but
- 20:00Speaker 1: has a lot of yakuza theming to him, so he
- 20:03Speaker 1: will follow a code like this when it's not entirely unreasonable.
- 20:07Speaker 1: He was one of the og Sun pirates who Fish
- 20:10Speaker 1: or Tiger freed from Mariegeois. Shark Lady is Charlotte Praylean,
- 20:15Speaker 1: pray Lean right, right right, because I remember thinking it
- 20:19Speaker 1: was something like crunchy okay, Prailline is a caramelized like
- 20:24Speaker 1: hard candy. Thank you, Sarah him. So, yeah, I just
- 20:31Speaker 1: found this very funny that Jimbei is like, hey, guys,
- 20:33Speaker 1: I know that it might come as a shock, but
- 20:36Speaker 1: I'm going to do this thing, and everybody is like,
- 20:37Speaker 1: it's not. It's not a shock to literally anybody. We
- 20:40Speaker 1: fucking saw this coming a mile away. And the fact
- 20:46Speaker 1: that he just talked about Loufy that much when Lufy
- 20:49Speaker 1: is so young. It's just I know that this is
- 20:54Speaker 1: something that has to happen, that there are going to
- 20:57Speaker 1: be people who are older than a certain person who's
- 21:00Speaker 1: a real up and comer in some regard, and they
- 21:04Speaker 1: are going to throw their lot in with that person
- 21:08Speaker 1: and support them. I know that that's how things work,
- 21:12Speaker 1: but it is just so odd to me to see
- 21:17Speaker 1: like an elder who is very accomplished in their own
- 21:21Speaker 1: right really fucking like going to the mattress for a
- 21:27Speaker 1: younger newbie type character. And I'm not mad at it,
- 21:32Speaker 1: just for the record, like that is totally fine, but
- 21:35Speaker 1: I do find it funny because it's like he's got
- 21:40Speaker 1: a loofy. He's got like a fandom out there that
- 21:43Speaker 1: just spans generations, it turns out. So let's see, I'm
- 21:51Speaker 1: trying to make sure that I cover everything here because
- 21:54Speaker 1: like this first episode, okay, let's talk about these these fruits,
- 21:57Speaker 1: because we're sort of all over the place here with
- 21:59Speaker 1: this the these fruits guys. So we're on the water.
- 22:07Speaker 1: Our friends have come across several different colors of water. Now,
- 22:13Speaker 1: last episode, we saw what looked like grape juice, and
- 22:17Speaker 1: then this episode we've got like different colors of juice,
- 22:23Speaker 1: and there's this point and I want to actually like
- 22:27Speaker 1: expand my screen here and see if I can get
- 22:32Speaker 1: this to like show if I can screenshot it, because
- 22:36Speaker 1: certain streaming services, if you attempt to screenshot something, it
- 22:43Speaker 1: will block it and you only get like a black square.
- 22:47Speaker 1: But there is an overhead shot of all of the
- 22:52Speaker 1: different juices in the ocean mixing together that is really beautiful. Actually,
- 23:00Speaker 1: I really loved it, and it was the sort of
- 23:02Speaker 1: thing that I was like that could make a really
- 23:04Speaker 1: nice like desktop, you know, And this is it's nobody
- 23:16Speaker 1: asks this question, and it's fine, but it does make
- 23:21Speaker 1: me wonder, like did these fish make the water look
- 23:26Speaker 1: like this? Like I know it's supposed to be that
- 23:29Speaker 1: all of this comes from what do you call it,
- 23:34Speaker 1: the actual islands themselves, but how did these fish come
- 23:39Speaker 1: to be? Because it's like that they formulated out of
- 23:44Speaker 1: the juice, like there was some sort of evolutionary thing
- 23:48Speaker 1: and fish that existed that happened to swim through this
- 23:51Speaker 1: water eventually took on the characteristics of the fruit whose
- 23:55Speaker 1: juice was in the water. And it's just kind of
- 23:59Speaker 1: a fastating concept to me. So what they what they
- 24:05Speaker 1: wind up seeing is giant versions of each of these
- 24:11Speaker 1: fruits that the juice is out to sea, just far
- 24:14Speaker 1: enough away that it's like you can only see, Oh yeah,
- 24:18Speaker 1: there's a peach. There's an orange, there's a watermelon. And Lufy,
- 24:26Speaker 1: as he is wont to do, instantly sees these and
- 24:31Speaker 1: is just like, oh bet, I'm gonna have something to eat,
- 24:34Speaker 1: grabs the watermelon. Pedro is trying to tell him, hey, no,
- 24:41Speaker 1: don't come back, but it's already airborne because Lufy has,
- 24:48Speaker 1: you know, his his rubber power. He has grabbed the
- 24:51Speaker 1: thing and it's in the air, hovering over him when
- 24:59Speaker 1: su its mouth opens and it just dives first like
- 25:06Speaker 1: it's mouth first onto Loofy, and I think Chopper yells
- 25:13Speaker 1: something about our dinner et Loofy something like that. And
- 25:18Speaker 1: this was very funny to me. I really enjoyed this.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Now what ends up happening is, of course Loufy is
- 25:24Speaker 1: able to get out of this and beat it, and
- 25:26Speaker 1: he kills the other ones too, and then cuts them up,
- 25:29Speaker 1: and they look just like giant slices of that fruit.
- 25:33Speaker 1: And Nami is seemingly like really sickened by this. It
- 25:37Speaker 1: seems like it bothers her a lot that these are
- 25:41Speaker 1: fish that they're conflating with fruit, which, to be honest,
- 25:46Speaker 1: I didn't really understand because like, even if they are fish,
- 25:51Speaker 1: you eat fish, you don't have a problem with that,
- 25:55Speaker 1: and you'll eat fish that are cooked with fruit. So
- 26:00Speaker 1: why don't you want to try this? You know what
- 26:03Speaker 1: I'm saying. I just kind of felt like it doesn't
- 26:07Speaker 1: seem that unreasonable to me. Just go for it. What's
- 26:12Speaker 1: the problem. She's just acting like it's nauseating to her somehow,
- 26:17Speaker 1: and I was not getting it at all. The whole
- 26:21Speaker 1: thing I think is really just meant to be NAMMI
- 26:25Speaker 1: stands very much outside of the desire for food, where
- 26:31Speaker 1: every not everybody else. It's like Pedro isn't affected by it. Really.
- 26:37Speaker 1: Brooke seems interested, but isn't as gung ho, and he's
- 26:43Speaker 1: not diving in head first the way the others are.
- 26:46Speaker 1: He does want some of the fruit, but Lufy is
- 26:49Speaker 1: eating it too fast for him to get to it.
- 26:52Speaker 1: But it's really like Pedro, it seems to me, isn't
- 26:57Speaker 1: super invested because he's been here before, and I think
- 26:59Speaker 1: that it's lost a lot of its charm for him
- 27:03Speaker 1: and Brooke, I think is just more cautious and also
- 27:10Speaker 1: doesn't need to eat the same way they do. It
- 27:12Speaker 1: doesn't seem like not me. It feels much more like
- 27:17Speaker 1: you guys are being so ridiculous that somebody here has
- 27:21Speaker 1: to keep a clear head, you know. It seems like
- 27:23Speaker 1: it's sort of a matter of principle with her, And
- 27:27Speaker 1: we see this later on when they finally wind up
- 27:29Speaker 1: landing on the Candy Island as well. So let's see
- 27:35Speaker 1: him jumping ahead here because I want to make sure
- 27:38Speaker 1: that I don't run out of time, because honestly, I'm
- 27:42Speaker 1: a half hour in here and this is just bonkers.
- 27:47Speaker 1: So sorry, guys. I tried doing the screenshot of all
- 27:52Speaker 1: of the different juices mixing together. It's such a great shot, guys,
- 27:55Speaker 1: because the camera pulls way out, so you've got like
- 27:59Speaker 1: the colors, and then you have in the middle the
- 28:02Speaker 1: going Mary, not the going Mary, Oh my god, the
- 28:06Speaker 1: thousand Sunny and it's just kind of small in the
- 28:09Speaker 1: center of all of these colors, and it almost looks
- 28:12Speaker 1: like a galaxy. And I my screenshot was just black,
- 28:18Speaker 1: and I'm so disappointed. I'm sure that somewhere out there
- 28:21Speaker 1: you can find somebody you know took a still of this,
- 28:25Speaker 1: but uh, I can't look for it because I could
- 28:28Speaker 1: be spoiled, so I don't want to risk it. All right,
- 28:32Speaker 1: let's see, I'm gonna go back to I feel like
- 28:35Speaker 1: I've pretty much talked about the whole thing with Jimbay
- 28:38Speaker 1: because he takes up most of the second the first
- 28:41Speaker 1: half of the second episode. Uh, and it's Prayleing who
- 28:48Speaker 1: he talks to you about, like whether or not it's
- 28:50Speaker 1: likely he's going to be let out of his contract,
- 28:53Speaker 1: and Praileing says that other people have gone into the
- 28:57Speaker 1: negotiations before, but they're all dead, so she can't tell
- 29:04Speaker 1: him exactly how it works or like how it went
- 29:08Speaker 1: with all of them, but you can guess. And it
- 29:13Speaker 1: ends with Big Mom being like, all right, you've got
- 29:16Speaker 1: to spin the fucking thing, and we don't actually see
- 29:20Speaker 1: him do it, so we don't get the what do
- 29:24Speaker 1: you call it, the resolution on this. So then we
- 29:32Speaker 1: go back to our friends on the ship and there's
- 29:36Speaker 1: apparently this syrup that is hardening on the surface of
- 29:44Speaker 1: the water and has made it so that the ship
- 29:47Speaker 1: can't get through, as if they are stuck in ice basically,
- 29:53Speaker 1: And this is such a weird scene because it's like
- 30:00Speaker 1: we don't actually see the ship get stuck. We just
- 30:02Speaker 1: come upon them when the ship has been stuck. And
- 30:07Speaker 1: I was expecting if we were going to have a
- 30:11Speaker 1: moment like this, it would be this big moment of
- 30:16Speaker 1: drama where we watched the ship approaching some unknown substance
- 30:21Speaker 1: on the water and everybody wondering what's going on, and
- 30:24Speaker 1: then the ship gets stuck and oh no, these ants,
- 30:28Speaker 1: you know. And it's sort of odd the way that
- 30:30Speaker 1: this is done because we're just here when they've already
- 30:34Speaker 1: dealt with some of the problem and the ants have
- 30:38Speaker 1: been like made to fall asleep and they're going to
- 30:41Speaker 1: wake up. So like we do wind up dealing with
- 30:43Speaker 1: the ants as a threat a little bit later, but
- 30:46Speaker 1: for now they're sort of handled. And then Page Rome
- 30:51Speaker 1: starts talking about how he wound up in this situation
- 30:55Speaker 1: once himself when he was a pirate, and he doesn't
- 30:59Speaker 1: really want to talk about it. And I was sort
- 31:01Speaker 1: of thinking, maybe the reason that we don't have them
- 31:04Speaker 1: approaching this and like, you know, going, what is that
- 31:08Speaker 1: out there? Maybe there's no way to write that in
- 31:12Speaker 1: a way that makes sense with Pedro having already experienced it.
- 31:18Speaker 1: If without him, like why wouldn't he tell them what
- 31:21Speaker 1: it is and find a way to go around it
- 31:23Speaker 1: or warn them or something, you know. I don't know,
- 31:25Speaker 1: maybe that was part of like the difficulty there is
- 31:29Speaker 1: if he's already got experience in the thing, they it
- 31:34Speaker 1: like this, them getting stuck like this couldn't really happen
- 31:37Speaker 1: the same way. But I don't know, I don't know,
- 31:40Speaker 1: it's possible that uh you know, it was just for
- 31:45Speaker 1: the sake of speeding things up to get to this
- 31:48Speaker 1: next island. It's just you know, this show isn't known
- 31:53Speaker 1: for its desire to speed things up. I'll just say that.
- 31:56Speaker 1: So that's what strikes me, I think as particularly surprising
- 32:01Speaker 1: is we have very much got an opportunity here to
- 32:05Speaker 1: like slow things down, and it would be completely excusable,
- 32:09Speaker 1: and we're not taking it. I am not used to
- 32:12Speaker 1: that at all. And these ants it's so fun because like,
- 32:18Speaker 1: you know, Sarah, and I think you were the one
- 32:20Speaker 1: who mentioned about how the candy like the chocolate river
- 32:25Speaker 1: and how would that work and everything, and I was like,
- 32:27Speaker 1: we're just going to ignore all of the difficulties that
- 32:30Speaker 1: would be involved in that. And one of the things
- 32:34Speaker 1: that popped to mind for me first was it's a
- 32:38Speaker 1: ant problem. You're gonna have flies sticking to everything and
- 32:42Speaker 1: to be hideous, and the fact that there are actual
- 32:45Speaker 1: like ants who are baddies that are like a major
- 32:49Speaker 1: problem is very fun. I should have seen it coming, honestly,
- 32:54Speaker 1: I should have known that we were going to do
- 32:56Speaker 1: something like this. And the ants, I think it's simply
- 33:02Speaker 1: because there are so many of them. But like, there
- 33:05Speaker 1: are plenty of creatures that we have run into on
- 33:10Speaker 1: the ocean and on the land that you know, they're
- 33:14Speaker 1: very intimidating looking, but they don't really inspire the kind
- 33:19Speaker 1: of like concern for the crew that these ants did.
- 33:25Speaker 1: You guys, these ants, I think it's just sheer numbers.
- 33:29Speaker 1: I really think that's what it is. It just got
- 33:31Speaker 1: under my skin, you know, this feeling of like there
- 33:34Speaker 1: are too many of them, You guys do not stand
- 33:37Speaker 1: a chance. Just fucking get out of there. And really
- 33:41Speaker 1: that's what they wind up having to do, because it's
- 33:44Speaker 1: like there's no way that they are going to be
- 33:47Speaker 1: able to manage.
- 33:48Speaker 2: All of these things.
- 33:51Speaker 1: Anyway. So the whole thing with like Pedro he used
- 33:57Speaker 1: to be a pirate with Peckhams, which he has never
- 34:01Speaker 1: mentioned to any of them, and Carrott just sort of
- 34:04Speaker 1: blurts it out. Petro says, I thought of myself as
- 34:09Speaker 1: a grand explorer, but I was really naive and I
- 34:14Speaker 1: wound up as a wanted man, and I only accompanied
- 34:18Speaker 1: Peckham's halfway. I wanted to help Master cat Viper, so
- 34:22Speaker 1: I was scouring these waters for ponoglyphs, and when I
- 34:29Speaker 1: trespassed in Big Mom's territory, it became my last voyage.
- 34:35Speaker 1: So I'm he wanted to come with them, I guess
- 34:43Speaker 1: because he's got like a particular grudge against Big Mom
- 34:48Speaker 1: and he has a vested interest in this ponoglyphs thing.
- 34:54Speaker 1: But he ends this by saying, like I faced a
- 34:58Speaker 1: devastating defeat here and everybody. This is something that I
- 35:06Speaker 1: always like take issue with, is a person can say
- 35:10Speaker 1: something really really vague and everybody around them has a
- 35:15Speaker 1: specific reaction as if they said something that like, as
- 35:21Speaker 1: if they said something particularly awful and devastating, And just
- 35:26Speaker 1: saying I faced a defeat here isn't telling me anything.
- 35:30Speaker 1: Is that a personal defeat where you with people and
- 35:33Speaker 1: they were killed who came at you specifically, because I'm
- 35:38Speaker 1: going to guess it wasn't like Big Mom is coming
- 35:42Speaker 1: down out of her castle to fight you herself. So
- 35:46Speaker 1: there's just a lot of details here that nobody even
- 35:51Speaker 1: asks about or seems like curious about. And I was
- 35:54Speaker 1: just you know, and Nami says, you have bad memories,
- 35:57Speaker 1: but you still came back, and I was like, is
- 35:59Speaker 1: nobody who to actually ask him anything further?
- 36:03Speaker 2: You know?
- 36:06Speaker 1: And he says, and it will all be worth it
- 36:08Speaker 1: if you can rescue Sanji. Besides, this might be a
- 36:12Speaker 1: chance to rectify my failure from last time. I heard
- 36:16Speaker 1: that you went to the Whale Tree and that our
- 36:19Speaker 1: kings showed you the road opponent glyph there. That was
- 36:24Speaker 1: quite a surprise. I'll put it this way. No one
- 36:28Speaker 1: outside the Kozugi clan has seen that place in nearly
- 36:32Speaker 1: twenty six years, specifically since they showed it to gold
- 36:38Speaker 1: d Roger and his crew, and after that he sailed
- 36:43Speaker 1: to Laughtail and earned the title King of the Pirates.
- 36:47Speaker 1: In other words, Duke dog Storm and Master cat Viper
- 36:51Speaker 1: think you have the same qualities that Roger possessed. And
- 36:57Speaker 1: I liked this. You know, the fact that this is
- 37:00Speaker 1: like a big reveal that they weren't just sharing information
- 37:03Speaker 1: that they share with anybody. This is something that's gate
- 37:07Speaker 1: kept and somehow Lufy's able to show them some personality
- 37:14Speaker 1: trait that really makes it clear. Hey, I think this
- 37:18Speaker 1: kid might might got the right stuff. And Pedro says like,
- 37:23Speaker 1: once you defeat Kaido, what is your plan? And Lufi
- 37:28Speaker 1: is just like, oh God, I don't know. I haven't
- 37:31Speaker 1: thought that far ahead. And I was like, yeah, Pedro,
- 37:33Speaker 1: I don't know how much you've seen of Loofy, but
- 37:38Speaker 1: I feel like it should be pretty clear by now.
- 37:40Speaker 1: Bruh is not a think ahead type at all, but yeah,
- 37:47Speaker 1: So Pedro's like, you're going to need Big Mom's ponent glyphs.
- 37:50Speaker 1: Since we're this far into her territory, it might be
- 37:52Speaker 1: your best, if not only, opportunity to find it. So
- 37:57Speaker 1: in addition to taking back Sanji, we should say steel
- 38:00Speaker 1: Big Mom's road pony glyph as well. And Nami is like, uh,
- 38:07Speaker 1: can we even do that? Which you know there had
- 38:12Speaker 1: been the mention they're way too big, so I'm assuming
- 38:15Speaker 1: that what he means is like, take a rubbing of
- 38:17Speaker 1: all of the symbols on it, or something like that.
- 38:21Speaker 1: Chopper himself is like, I mean, getting Sanji backs seems
- 38:25Speaker 1: like it's hard enough already. Do we need to add
- 38:28Speaker 1: this on top of it? And Lufy says, essentially, Sonjy
- 38:33Speaker 1: is our first priority. So Pedro says, okay, you know what,
- 38:39Speaker 1: that's fair. You go ahead and focus on him, and
- 38:43Speaker 1: if you can buy me some time, I will go
- 38:46Speaker 1: after the pony glyph on your behalf. And at first
- 38:50Speaker 1: Lufy tries to be like, I can't allow you to
- 38:54Speaker 1: do that. We're supposed to all work together, you know,
- 38:56Speaker 1: we're a team, and Pedro's says, rescuing him is really
- 39:03Speaker 1: only the beginning. I will be fine. I just let
- 39:07Speaker 1: me do this, and Lufy says, all right, you know what,
- 39:12Speaker 1: go ahead, and Namy is genuinely startled and says, well,
- 39:17Speaker 1: shouldn't we talk this through a little bit further? And
- 39:22Speaker 1: it's a it's sort of odd because like Brooke says
- 39:26Speaker 1: something like, did things only work out for Loofy because
- 39:29Speaker 1: he was born under a lucky star? And Lufy usually
- 39:34Speaker 1: kind of puts his foot down more about working with
- 39:37Speaker 1: people and like staying paying them back when they have
- 39:41Speaker 1: done a favor for him. I was surprised at how
- 39:44Speaker 1: quickly he capitulated. I was surprised that Nami had an
- 39:48Speaker 1: issue with this, and Brooke being like everything works out
- 39:54Speaker 1: for Loofy in response to this didn't. This didn't feel
- 39:59Speaker 1: like it felt like he was counting his chickens, you
- 40:05Speaker 1: know what I mean. I was sort of like, there's
- 40:07Speaker 1: he's not lucky yet, dude. If anything, your ship is
- 40:10Speaker 1: stuck in sugar syrup right now. But there was a
- 40:15Speaker 1: sweet moment when he says like, maybe he's lucky, and
- 40:18Speaker 1: Lufy says, what did you say, Brooke, And he says
- 40:21Speaker 1: nothing and then says I'm lucky myself. And I did
- 40:24Speaker 1: like that of just being like, you know what, I
- 40:27Speaker 1: should count my blessings too, It was cute. This is
- 40:31Speaker 1: when the ants all wake up and begin to come
- 40:35Speaker 1: at the ship. And these ants look straight out of
- 40:40Speaker 1: like a Halloween children's book or something. They're very cute
- 40:47Speaker 1: in a weird way, but also horrible. And when the
- 40:50Speaker 1: camera pulls back and you see just how many of
- 40:53Speaker 1: them there are, it is truly upsetting. I mean, my god.
- 40:58Speaker 1: So then we go to the next episode, a mysterious
- 41:03Speaker 1: forest full of candies. Loofy versus Loofy, and we see
- 41:09Speaker 1: the ship pulling up to this island that looks like
- 41:14Speaker 1: a bunch of cakes stacked on top of each other,
- 41:17Speaker 1: with like icing pouring down the sides. They it's snow.
- 41:22Speaker 1: I'm assuming that is actually sugar, so I think it does.
- 41:26Speaker 1: It's not just that it looks like frosting. I think
- 41:29Speaker 1: that it actually is. And uh, they send out the
- 41:37Speaker 1: what do you call it? Channel three? Is what it's
- 41:40Speaker 1: called the Shark submerge Channel three is. That's a weird
- 41:46Speaker 1: name for it. I have to assume that this is
- 41:48Speaker 1: sort of like a translation thing. But it's Brooke and
- 41:53Speaker 1: Paedro that are on the submarine, and so this is
- 41:57Speaker 1: going to be how they wind up sneaky into the territory.
- 42:02Speaker 1: Pedro and I will take care of the mission, so
- 42:04Speaker 1: don't you worry now. I think that having these two
- 42:13Speaker 1: who are both good fighters go together. And Loofy is
- 42:19Speaker 1: left with Nami, who's sure she has her weather power thing,
- 42:25Speaker 1: but is she's not really a fighter and she does
- 42:28Speaker 1: tend to panic. We've got Carrot, who is frankly untested.
- 42:33Speaker 1: I haven't really gotten to see her in action very much.
- 42:37Speaker 1: And we have Chopper, who you guys know, I love,
- 42:39Speaker 1: but like he has pretty severe limitations on what he
- 42:44Speaker 1: can do a lot of the time. This just didn't
- 42:47Speaker 1: seem like the right call to let Brooke go off
- 42:50Speaker 1: with this. Dude, I didn't care for this. I don't
- 42:52Speaker 1: think this is a good idea. So anyway, yeah, I
- 43:00Speaker 1: do enjoy like the two of them teamed up, and
- 43:02Speaker 1: I'm curious how this is going to go, but I wasn't.
- 43:08Speaker 1: I felt like I would rather Gna Me go with
- 43:14Speaker 1: Pedro or maybe Carrot, have the two minks go together,
- 43:21Speaker 1: you know it just ah, so anyway, it doesn't matter.
- 43:27Speaker 1: And Brooke says infiltration is somewhat of a specialty of mine,
- 43:35Speaker 1: and he projects those that ghost out of himself that
- 43:39Speaker 1: like spooky, you know, And I guess that counts as infiltration,
- 43:46Speaker 1: I suppose. But yeah, I suppose, because it can go
- 43:50Speaker 1: like pretty far away from him, right, I'm trying to
- 43:54Speaker 1: think when we saw it come to communicate before, he
- 43:58Speaker 1: was like y yards and yards off from it. So
- 44:02Speaker 1: I suppose that works. Anyway. Everybody says good luck, and
- 44:08Speaker 1: I think Chopper actually has the exact line. Have fun
- 44:11Speaker 1: storming the castle, which is straight out of Princess bride,
- 44:16Speaker 1: they take off, we get to see a little bit
- 44:18Speaker 1: of them underwater, and then we go back to our friends,
- 44:21Speaker 1: who it's such an a kind of it's a moment
- 44:29Speaker 1: of like I'm not sure whether to trust Loofy or not,
- 44:32Speaker 1: but then you get confirmation a little bit later, and
- 44:35Speaker 1: I appreciated that. Nami, even though she doesn't see it
- 44:38Speaker 1: herself pretty quickly, like turns a corner later and is like, oh, okay,
- 44:43Speaker 1: I haven't seen it, but everybody is saying it, so
- 44:46Speaker 1: they must have seen something. And this is when they
- 44:51Speaker 1: spot what seems to be Sanjy standing very close to
- 44:55Speaker 1: the shore of this island under a tree, and he
- 45:00Speaker 1: looks at them and makes eye contact and seems to
- 45:04Speaker 1: want to be seen, and then turns and runs away
- 45:09Speaker 1: into the forest, and Loofy chases after him, of course,
- 45:15Speaker 1: without a second thought, because that is just how he do.
- 45:19Speaker 1: Nam when Lufy's explanation for this is like maybe he's
- 45:22Speaker 1: playing a game, and I was like, yeah, that sounds likely,
- 45:27Speaker 1: and Namy herself is just like what, but she runs
- 45:30Speaker 1: after them as well, because like what else are you
- 45:33Speaker 1: going to do? You can't let them go out there alone,
- 45:37Speaker 1: and the like hold Chase. I am thinking this thing
- 45:47Speaker 1: is going to be leading them into some sort of
- 45:50Speaker 1: trap or something, and like, probably that's still true, but
- 45:53Speaker 1: it hasn't. It doesn't happen the way that I was expecting,
- 45:58Speaker 1: And I think some of it is that left over
- 46:03Speaker 1: paranoia from the whole thing about Hansel and Gretel. Is
- 46:11Speaker 1: that the little kids see this house made of candy.
- 46:16Speaker 1: They've been abandoned in the woods, and so they haven't
- 46:20Speaker 1: eaten in days, and they run up to the house
- 46:23Speaker 1: and eat from it without really thinking, and then are
- 46:27Speaker 1: captured by this witch in payment for them eating her house.
- 46:33Speaker 1: And I think that's sort of what I thought was
- 46:35Speaker 1: going to wind up happening here, is that this thing
- 46:38Speaker 1: is luring them into the forest and then when they
- 46:41Speaker 1: eat something is going to jump out at them or
- 46:45Speaker 1: accuse them of stealing. You know, I thought that it
- 46:47Speaker 1: was going to be along those same lines, and it
- 46:53Speaker 1: doesn't go that way at all. And eventually, you know,
- 46:59Speaker 1: Lufy is Lufy, Kara and Chopper are all looking around
- 47:06Speaker 1: at this place that's filled with candy and being like,
- 47:09Speaker 1: oh yeah, let me go search for Soanji in that direction,
- 47:13Speaker 1: and it's very clear it's just we want to go
- 47:16Speaker 1: in the direction of which dessert looks the best to us.
- 47:20Speaker 1: And meanwhile, Mammy, who's the only one who's really focused here,
- 47:25Speaker 1: she's kind of looking around herself like that feeling that
- 47:28Speaker 1: you get when you know you're being watched, even though
- 47:31Speaker 1: you can't see the person who's doing the watching, And
- 47:35Speaker 1: she's telling all of them like, you guys have really
- 47:37Speaker 1: got to stay on task here because who knows what's
- 47:42Speaker 1: going on? And it could be that maybe Lufy is
- 47:45Speaker 1: just feeling a little embarrassed about, you know, the fact
- 47:50Speaker 1: that I don't know. But anyway, at this point, they
- 47:55Speaker 1: come to a river. I don't know what the is
- 48:00Speaker 1: made out of, if it's just water or if there's
- 48:02Speaker 1: something else to it, but the shore of the river
- 48:07Speaker 1: is lined with what looked like either pancakes or like
- 48:11Speaker 1: cinnamon rolls covered in icing. The bridge that covers that,
- 48:17Speaker 1: oh here, the river is melon juice, right right right,
- 48:20Speaker 1: I forgot. Chopper says that the bridge that spans the
- 48:26Speaker 1: river is made out of doughnuts, which I really really
- 48:32Speaker 1: love that. I thought that was a very cool visual.
- 48:36Speaker 1: And as they're sitting there, we see a shadow that's
- 48:41Speaker 1: coming up out of the river and of course, here
- 48:43Speaker 1: I go thinking, oh, this is the trap. Finally it's
- 48:47Speaker 1: been sprung the thing that I was expecting, which is
- 48:50Speaker 1: they have all been lured into the forest with the
- 48:53Speaker 1: promise of delicious treats. Now the monster who set this
- 48:58Speaker 1: all up is going to finally come at them. And
- 49:01Speaker 1: it's a very dramatic moment of it doesn't just come
- 49:04Speaker 1: up out of the water. It comes up jaws first,
- 49:08Speaker 1: like it's in a horror movie to clamp over that donut.
- 49:15Speaker 1: And all I could think was like, you're really ruining
- 49:18Speaker 1: the infrastructure here, buddy, who put that donut in place? Like,
- 49:23Speaker 1: I don't know, But it clamps down on the donut,
- 49:28Speaker 1: and it's a very fun little moment of everybody understandably
- 49:34Speaker 1: assuming that this giant ass crocodile is here to kill
- 49:39Speaker 1: all of them. And there's this long pause as they
- 49:44Speaker 1: all put up their dukes. Basically they're ready to fight
- 49:47Speaker 1: if they need to, and then the alligator looks at
- 49:53Speaker 1: them while he's chewing and says, too bad, just humans,
- 50:00Speaker 1: and he walks away, and Lufy gets mad because he's like, oh,
- 50:05Speaker 1: so we're not good enough for you to eat, which
- 50:08Speaker 1: is hilarious. And then Nami says, the issue here is
- 50:12Speaker 1: we've got a talking crocodile wearing a hat. I knew
- 50:15Speaker 1: this place was dangerous and weird, And Loofy says, but
- 50:20Speaker 1: we've got talking animals with hats right here, you guys,
- 50:26Speaker 1: that that line really made me laugh. Just it was
- 50:32Speaker 1: just Loofy isn't usually the one to point this stuff out.
- 50:36Speaker 1: It's almost never him who's the voice of reason in
- 50:41Speaker 1: a given scene, you know what I'm saying. So for
- 50:44Speaker 1: him to be the one that's like, nommy, why are
- 50:48Speaker 1: you even worried about? You know what I mean? I
- 50:51Speaker 1: was delighted to see this. Actually it seems like real
- 50:56Speaker 1: growth for him. But uh yeah, this thing with this alligator,
- 51:02Speaker 1: I mean, not only is he wearing a hat, he's
- 51:03Speaker 1: got like what I think are suspenders on because he's
- 51:07Speaker 1: walking away and there's a sort of X over his back,
- 51:10Speaker 1: so I think that's meant to be suspenders. I want
- 51:14Speaker 1: to know what the deal is with this crocodile. And
- 51:17Speaker 1: he also isn't like green the way that we've seen
- 51:20Speaker 1: other ones be before. He's sort of this like pale
- 51:22Speaker 1: blue anyway, So all of them that you know, they're
- 51:29Speaker 1: looking around trying to decide what to do next, and
- 51:34Speaker 1: Nami says, okay, we made a deal with Pudding that
- 51:39Speaker 1: she is going to come to the shoreline and bring
- 51:42Speaker 1: Sanji with her for us to take him away with us.
- 51:46Speaker 1: And she hasn't led us wrong yet. She hasn't, you know,
- 51:50Speaker 1: Like she seems to be doing all of this in
- 51:52Speaker 1: good faith. So I think that we should just go
- 51:57Speaker 1: back to the ship and trust her, because I think
- 52:01Speaker 1: this forest is bad news. And of course everybody is like,
- 52:06Speaker 1: how can you say that it's candy? It's literally wonderful.
- 52:10Speaker 1: How could any of this be wrong? And just as
- 52:14Speaker 1: they're defending it, she turns around and she sees another
- 52:19Speaker 1: Loofy standing there, and it's not like he's standing there
- 52:27Speaker 1: if it's weird, because like, again, what my expectation would
- 52:32Speaker 1: be when you're dealing with a double is that it
- 52:36Speaker 1: tries to trick them into thinking it's the real Loofy.
- 52:41Speaker 1: But this isn't doing that. It's facing Loofy down in
- 52:45Speaker 1: front of everybody, very obviously making it clear which one
- 52:51Speaker 1: is the real one and which one isn't. And eventually
- 52:55Speaker 1: Chopper points out that it's like a mirror image that
- 52:58Speaker 1: it isn't identical to Lou because it's accessories are on
- 53:02Speaker 1: the opposite side, it's scar is backward. Everything about it
- 53:07Speaker 1: is a reflection, and so if you're really paying attention,
- 53:12Speaker 1: you can tell which is which. But uh so I
- 53:16Speaker 1: kind of appreciated that that it's not an identical copy.
- 53:20Speaker 1: It's a mirror image, which is definitely very different. And
- 53:24Speaker 1: I'm wondering if this is actually a creature or if
- 53:26Speaker 1: it's a spell of some kind, you know, like I
- 53:30Speaker 1: don't know. And again, like it's not really trying to
- 53:35Speaker 1: trick them. It's just fighting Loofy, and every movement Loofy
- 53:39Speaker 1: makes in the fight it mirrors. So every time he
- 53:42Speaker 1: tries to punch it, it punches back at him, and
- 53:46Speaker 1: their fists just wind up blocking each other, and uh
- 53:51Speaker 1: it's it's just really it's a really kind of trippy moment,
- 53:57Speaker 1: you know, the kind of thing that nam wasn't also
- 54:03Speaker 1: seeing this, I would kind of wonder is this a
- 54:06Speaker 1: result of everybody eating the candy? Is there something in
- 54:09Speaker 1: the food of this island that causes you to have hallucinations?
- 54:15Speaker 1: But I don't think Nami's eaten anything, and she sees
- 54:19Speaker 1: this just as much as everybody else. So I guess
- 54:23Speaker 1: that's not it. But yeah, I don't know what to
- 54:26Speaker 1: make of this whole thing again, though, I just love
- 54:30Speaker 1: the design of this entire island. It's so fun, and
- 54:35Speaker 1: I am really curious what the deal is with this
- 54:37Speaker 1: fucking Sanji guy. You know, I have to assume that
- 54:44Speaker 1: this somehow somebody's devil fruit power, but I just don't
- 54:47Speaker 1: know how that would even work. Devil fruit powers frequently
- 54:51Speaker 1: don't work in ways that I would have thought of,
- 54:53Speaker 1: so that doesn't mean it's not it's just I can't
- 54:57Speaker 1: really theorize on that. But yeah, I really did like
- 55:02Speaker 1: these three episodes. It was just, you know, it's so
- 55:07Speaker 1: everything is sort of up in the air at this moment,
- 55:10Speaker 1: and the idea of like Lufy being versus himself is
- 55:14Speaker 1: kind of funny, but I feel like it could only
- 55:17Speaker 1: really be truly interesting to watch if they were able
- 55:21Speaker 1: to actually fight. If it's just mirror image movements and stuff,
- 55:25Speaker 1: then it's probably going to start to get old pretty quickly.
- 55:28Speaker 1: And it's only a distraction for Loufy for right now.
- 55:32Speaker 1: I don't know what else somebody could be trying to
- 55:35Speaker 1: accomplish by doing this, So yeah, all right, well, oh,
- 55:41Speaker 1: I'm sorry there's so much seraphim is in the chat
- 55:45Speaker 1: and I was not seeing it. Lufy, trusts Pedro, and
- 55:49Speaker 1: I think this is another translation issue of the nuance
- 55:52Speaker 1: being lost. The doors on the Sunny are number zero
- 55:56Speaker 1: through four. Each has a different machine in it they
- 55:58Speaker 1: can use. Yeah that I got so Channel four was
- 56:02Speaker 1: what number they had to set the dial to to
- 56:04Speaker 1: select the right doc. Ah. Okay, look, this is one
- 56:09Speaker 1: piece the explanation for why something is the way it
- 56:11Speaker 1: is can generally be assumed to be one of three things.
- 56:13Speaker 1: Devil fruit, hockey, Oda is freaking insane. Yeah that's fair.
- 56:21Speaker 1: All right. Well, I feel like I've said everything I
- 56:23Speaker 1: need to about this section, so I'm a little short
- 56:26Speaker 1: on time, but I go over enough that I think
- 56:28Speaker 1: it's fair, So I'm going to wrap up. I appreciate
- 56:31Speaker 1: everybody listening. I hope you're enjoying the show. Thank you
- 56:34Speaker 1: to Sarah M for joining me, thank you to Florian
- 56:36Speaker 1: for commissioning this one, and until next time to lou motherfuckers.
- 57:10Speaker 1: That was an unspoiled network podcast.
