- 0:03Speaker 1: suitable for all audiences. Listener discretion is advised. Welcome to
- 0:10Speaker 1: Patriot's Unfiltered. Team other than the Patriots lost in overtime,
- 0:17Speaker 1: so we gotta change the overtime rules. Now, I don't
- 0:19Speaker 1: really understand the Patriots role in this. If the Patriots
- 0:21Speaker 1: had been victim of this, no one would care about
- 0:23Speaker 1: changing the rule. Kansas petition the league to change it. Right,
- 0:26Speaker 1: But now again, wouldn't this have to do with the Patriots.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Wasn't a Patriots team that lost, So again there's an uproar.
- 0:32Speaker 1: We have to change. Mike, Thats what I'm saying. Since
- 0:36Speaker 1: they change, since they change overtime. Yeah, that's a good
- 0:39Speaker 1: cruiit of you. Hey, sorry, Mike d Literally, there's nowhere
- 0:44Speaker 1: else I would want to live, least them there. They
- 0:46Speaker 1: have like black widows and Tarantula's right. You make a
- 0:50Speaker 1: great offer, Mark Davids, the tarantulas that just like can't
- 0:53Speaker 1: overcome that drip. Yeah, you have never heard of that.
- 0:57Speaker 1: I have not. Okay, Paul wrote the story last week.
- 0:59Speaker 1: You gotta get fast, you need speed. We're not going
- 1:02Speaker 1: to at this is Patriot's Unfiltered, fueled by Duncan. All right,
- 1:08Speaker 1: welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It's Thursday here Atgelette Stadium, and
- 1:13Speaker 1: for those of us who live in this area, we're
- 1:15Speaker 1: getting ready for a big snowstorm Saturday. Oh yeah, get
- 1:19Speaker 1: your shovel muscles ready, Norrista. Yeah, my arrand snowblowers still
- 1:24Speaker 1: in the shop. Not good, Bob. They said they would
- 1:28Speaker 1: be five weeks out. It's called the Village Lawnmower Shop.
- 1:31Speaker 1: They work three days a week. Literally, It's like maybe
- 1:34Speaker 1: if you work five days a week, you can get
- 1:36Speaker 1: things done. Dare I say six? Like everybody? Right? You
- 1:39Speaker 1: know in that kind of business they do nothing but snowblowers.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Is they gonna take some five it's the name. But
- 1:45Speaker 1: you know this time of year, yeah, this time of year.
- 1:48Speaker 1: If you want your lawnmower fix, you could get it tomorrow. Yeah,
- 1:50Speaker 1: but this is snowblower season, right, So anyway I'll be shoveling.
- 1:57Speaker 1: What's the back Yeah, once you hire one of the
- 2:00Speaker 1: shovel you know, they're always people walking around, like looking
- 2:02Speaker 1: for a little bit. I need the exercise. Plo plows
- 2:05Speaker 1: and mos go on the app. Yeah. Yeah, we had
- 2:07Speaker 1: a kid in our neighborhood, go around put like, yeah,
- 2:10Speaker 1: there's an app, Yeah plows and mos kid going around
- 2:12Speaker 1: our neighborhood and you can get people to come and
- 2:15Speaker 1: do it. Okay, we can have our own conversation. I
- 2:18Speaker 1: downloaded the app, but I've never used I can. I
- 2:20Speaker 1: can handle it, That's what I say. I could do
- 2:23Speaker 1: it myself. There's like some little like fourth grade or
- 2:25Speaker 1: going around putting like like things like hey, I'll shovel
- 2:27Speaker 1: you and like our driveways long, and I'm like, he's
- 2:29Speaker 1: like twenty bucks. I'm like, it would be like torturous
- 2:32Speaker 1: if I came twenty bucks and try to make him
- 2:33Speaker 1: do our whole child. I know, I know the dad
- 2:36Speaker 1: was like walking around with him. I don't think the
- 2:37Speaker 1: dad was like making them do it. It It had all
- 2:39Speaker 1: kinds of different stuff like chop wood and like this
- 2:41Speaker 1: kid's like eleven chopping wood outside. You were a kid,
- 2:45Speaker 1: did you shovel driveways? Well? Probably not in the suburb,
- 2:48Speaker 1: you know? No? No, well you had someone go around
- 2:51Speaker 1: the neighborhood and do it for you. No, no, I do.
- 2:53Speaker 1: I do. I remember shoveling my driveway to the Rocky
- 2:55Speaker 1: for soundtrack, which is a great shoveling soundtrack if you
- 2:57Speaker 1: need one. But no. When I was twelve, my dad
- 2:59Speaker 1: came home one day. We're down the cape and he said,
- 3:01Speaker 1: guess what I got your job at the marsh side.
- 3:03Speaker 1: I would mow the lawn there, pick up cigarette butts,
- 3:06Speaker 1: walk around that and they give me like ten bucks
- 3:08Speaker 1: in and he gets free food. Yeah right right, but
- 3:11Speaker 1: that was mine. That was my first job. But I
- 3:12Speaker 1: never went around the hood. I thought everybody had their
- 3:15Speaker 1: own kids to do it, and we always did it. Yeah. Yeah,
- 3:19Speaker 1: I mowed lawns a little bit. I never mowed lawns. Yeah.
- 3:23Speaker 1: My worst one was mister Keys. He had this like
- 3:25Speaker 1: big house by the water, and actually my friend had
- 3:29Speaker 1: the job and he said, I don't want to do
- 3:30Speaker 1: it anymore, so he gave me the job. This guy,
- 3:32Speaker 1: I had to use two different lawnmowers, one for the
- 3:35Speaker 1: middle of the grass and then another one another one
- 3:37Speaker 1: for the edge that he wanted a separate lawnmore. I
- 3:41Speaker 1: mean this guy like when he wanted his lawn moode,
- 3:43Speaker 1: he called you up, you gotta get down here. It
- 3:45Speaker 1: just rain, it's dry, get down here. What would he
- 3:48Speaker 1: give you, like a shining nickel or no he was.
- 3:52Speaker 1: He wasn't like it. You know, I forget how much
- 3:55Speaker 1: it was at the time. You know, back then twenty
- 3:57Speaker 1: dollars was worth a thousands, so I don't know twenty
- 4:00Speaker 1: forget about it. Yeah, yeah, it's a babysitting. It's that
- 4:04Speaker 1: and I'll the easy go sit there for three hours
- 4:07Speaker 1: like Charles and charge pretty much. Yeah. I never baby
- 4:10Speaker 1: said that. Yeah I didn't. Yeah, I never did that.
- 4:14Speaker 1: I don't need that. It's easy. Although it's easy, I
- 4:16Speaker 1: accompanied on a lot of beatings baby your girlfriends. Yeah,
- 4:21Speaker 1: if you know, I know that one all right, kind
- 4:25Speaker 1: of like the next generation of never mind easy. So
- 4:29Speaker 1: we're getting ready for the conference championships this weekend. I
- 4:34Speaker 1: can't wait for that great game. Yeah. I have a
- 4:37Speaker 1: hard time thinking that it's gonna live up to last
- 4:39Speaker 1: week's hype. Yeah, it's gonna be you know, that's a
- 4:42Speaker 1: lot to live up to. Yeah, but you know, I'm
- 4:45Speaker 1: I'm still gonna watch obviously, Oh for sure. Well, Sunday afternoon.
- 4:48Speaker 1: We'll have our picks later in the show. What we
- 4:50Speaker 1: think got a hurry? Yeah, not really. Yeah. Um, there's
- 4:55Speaker 1: a lot of you know, coaching carousel news that have
- 4:58Speaker 1: been Tuesday reported, Yes, Yeah, Matt Ebery Nathaniel Hackett to
- 5:06Speaker 1: the Broncos. Yeah, and now Nathaniel Hackett is the offensive
- 5:10Speaker 1: coordinator for the Packers, so obviously, um, some people are thinking, okay,
- 5:16Speaker 1: we always bring this around to how it might impact
- 5:20Speaker 1: the Patriots, and that would be a negative impact for
- 5:22Speaker 1: the Patriots. Yeah, Aaron Rodgers could go over to Denver
- 5:26Speaker 1: and maybe he brings Davante Adams with him, who knows, well,
- 5:29Speaker 1: I mean, they don't even need Yeah, they got some
- 5:31Speaker 1: good pieces. It's I mean, aside from the Patriots, I
- 5:34Speaker 1: think it's fun to think about twice a year, and
- 5:36Speaker 1: I'm facing Kansas City if that were to happen, I mean,
- 5:38Speaker 1: if they would definitely give Kansas City a little bit
- 5:40Speaker 1: of a that'll be a hell of a conference. Yeah, Herbert,
- 5:43Speaker 1: how do you live so happy? Division? How could you
- 5:46Speaker 1: possibly spin that as a good thing? Right? You know?
- 5:49Speaker 1: Adding Aaron Rodgers in another good team in the conference?
- 5:54Speaker 1: These Kansas City will have a maybe they give him
- 5:58Speaker 1: a couple of losses and Brady to the ray there,
- 6:00Speaker 1: you know, because didn't they buy something out there? J
- 6:03Speaker 1: Zell and Tom didn't in Vegas? Yeah, didn't they? Whenn't
- 6:06Speaker 1: there were a rumor that they had bought like a
- 6:08Speaker 1: big thing out in Vegas a couple of years ago.
- 6:10Speaker 1: I think there was a rumor about that, but I'm
- 6:12Speaker 1: not sure that that ever was from what I understand,
- 6:14Speaker 1: they have property everywhere. It was a you know, it
- 6:17Speaker 1: was a real estate guy in Vegas that said that, Yeah,
- 6:21Speaker 1: through Megan used to be our real estate news correspondent. Yeah,
- 6:25Speaker 1: that's what I thought anyway. So, oh, breaking news on
- 6:28Speaker 1: an Oh Nope, it's just a commercial, all right. Uh so, yeah,
- 6:32Speaker 1: that that could be interesting. I do think it's issually too.
- 6:35Speaker 1: I was talking to Paul. You know a number of
- 6:36Speaker 1: Patriots opponents next year getting getting new coaches. I mean
- 6:40Speaker 1: the Bears with eb Yeah, the Packers obviously that they're
- 6:47Speaker 1: going to be going through some turnover, not not at
- 6:49Speaker 1: the head coach position, but the Steelers going through some turnover.
- 6:52Speaker 1: The Vikings just hired a new coach. Dolphins will be
- 6:56Speaker 1: So did they the Viking did they or are they
- 6:58Speaker 1: having any hired? The GM They haven't hired the coach.
- 7:00Speaker 1: But who the heir is? Jam that guy with the
- 7:03Speaker 1: three names three names from Cleveland, three names, Yeah, the
- 7:06Speaker 1: Cleveland guy, Yeah, yeah, him and it looks like Jacksonville
- 7:10Speaker 1: is in a a tugo war with with Byron Leftwich,
- 7:15Speaker 1: who wants the job but says you got to get
- 7:17Speaker 1: rid of Trent Bulky, and he wants Adrian Wilson former
- 7:23Speaker 1: Cardinals briefly briefly for spell here. Yeah, he wants put
- 7:26Speaker 1: a Patriot uniform on. Never actually played in that group, right, um,
- 7:32Speaker 1: But he wants Adrian Wilson to be the GM for
- 7:36Speaker 1: the Jags, and he says it's you know that it's
- 7:38Speaker 1: taken or leave it. Yeah, so according to reports, so
- 7:42Speaker 1: some stuff going on around the league. Yeah, as far
- 7:45Speaker 1: as we know, no Patriots people are leaving. No, no,
- 7:49Speaker 1: not yeah, not yet. Seems like everything that happens points
- 7:53Speaker 1: more to Elliott Wolf staying. Mayo McDaniels, I mean all
- 7:58Speaker 1: it seems it seems like the jobs are kind of
- 8:00Speaker 1: trying up quick. I mean selfishly. Yeah, absolutely for us.
- 8:03Speaker 1: I think I mean, you think, you know, I feel
- 8:05Speaker 1: bad for you know, maybe Mayo because he's been outspoken
- 8:09Speaker 1: saying he wants the job. But and people still continue
- 8:13Speaker 1: to tie Brian Dable to the Giants from Buffalo after
- 8:16Speaker 1: the Yeah, I saw him to the Dolphins too. I
- 8:19Speaker 1: mean you just see these random tweets. I think everybody's
- 8:21Speaker 1: looking at the Giants from because the Bill's, uh, what's
- 8:24Speaker 1: the costume? Yeah, yeah, shown, Yeah, yeah, Shane. I think
- 8:27Speaker 1: it's Shane Shane. Yeah, he got the job for the Giants.
- 8:30Speaker 1: So everybody's you know, connecting the dots, much like um,
- 8:34Speaker 1: the mental gymnastics that you have to do to wonder
- 8:37Speaker 1: if maybe Aaron Rodgers might be interested in Denver with
- 8:40Speaker 1: his former offensive coordinator getting that that head coach job.
- 8:45Speaker 1: It's a stretch, it's a stretch. But here's one. You know,
- 8:48Speaker 1: everyone assumes that the forty nine ers, whatever happens, they're
- 8:52Speaker 1: not they're gonna move on from Garoppolo and people, Oh
- 8:55Speaker 1: could Brady could go in to forty nine ers? Why
- 8:57Speaker 1: couldn't Rogers be going to forty nine ers. He's a
- 9:00Speaker 1: coast guy, he could. And I don't think whatever happens
- 9:03Speaker 1: with the forty nine ers, they're gonna move on from.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Oh you don't think so. I don't think it's gonna ask.
- 9:07Speaker 1: I don't think it's I mean what I tell you,
- 9:09Speaker 1: they won't. I'm just saying I don't think no matter
- 9:11Speaker 1: what happened, tell me how they want was it because
- 9:14Speaker 1: of Jimmy or despite Jimmy. Well, and then I'll tell
- 9:17Speaker 1: you if they're gonna move on. All I said, I
- 9:19Speaker 1: don't think it's necessarily a done deal that they're moving on. Yeah,
- 9:22Speaker 1: I don't. I think it. I thought it was crazy
- 9:25Speaker 1: enough to do what they did last year. Now you're
- 9:27Speaker 1: gonna double down. He did it again, and you're gonna
- 9:29Speaker 1: and you're gonna move on from him. Yeah, Like I
- 9:32Speaker 1: think you already saw the sort of flaw in their plan,
- 9:35Speaker 1: Like they don't win games when he doesn't play right. Well,
- 9:38Speaker 1: that just just means that who's behind him is even worse.
- 9:40Speaker 1: But that doesn't mean that he's the reason they're winning. No,
- 9:43Speaker 1: but it makes you And they've won a lot of games, Okay,
- 9:47Speaker 1: he wasn't the reason they wont on Sunday or whatever
- 9:49Speaker 1: they play Saturday. I mean, whenever I watched he he
- 9:52Speaker 1: was not good. And he seems to like it's like
- 9:54Speaker 1: give and take with him. He'll give you stuff in
- 9:57Speaker 1: the game and then he'll take it away, like he
- 9:59Speaker 1: did not play well and that game. Yeah, I mean,
- 10:01Speaker 1: how much he's got potentially two games left, how much
- 10:04Speaker 1: does that effect? Like could he win the Super Bowl
- 10:06Speaker 1: theoretically and they're like, see, yeah, you know it's happened.
- 10:13Speaker 1: They still want I don't care, I do. I think
- 10:15Speaker 1: it takes a lot to pull the plug on a
- 10:17Speaker 1: guy who took you to two Super Bowls in three
- 10:20Speaker 1: years and won one of them. Eventually they got to
- 10:22Speaker 1: go to this guy that they drafted in the first round,
- 10:24Speaker 1: right right, right, yeah, right, and your rank Yeah, unless
- 10:27Speaker 1: they trade him. I mean, I think I think good
- 10:29Speaker 1: teams could make bad picks and instead of just forcing
- 10:32Speaker 1: it and compounding it, they recognize we made a bad pick. Well,
- 10:36Speaker 1: how do they know until they play him? Uh? Have
- 10:39Speaker 1: his play his winning super Bowls? That's how you know?
- 10:43Speaker 1: You know again you know the definition of he's winning
- 10:47Speaker 1: super Bowls? You know, I don't know. You can fall
- 10:50Speaker 1: into that trap and just say anybody can win, but
- 10:52Speaker 1: when he didn't play, they lose. That's not what I said. Like,
- 10:55Speaker 1: I am not a huge Jimmy Garoppolo fan, never have
- 10:57Speaker 1: been as at the player, not the person, but I him.
- 11:00Speaker 1: But I'm also I'm being objected. I think he's very average. Yeah,
- 11:03Speaker 1: I am a fact. The fact of the matter is
- 11:06Speaker 1: when he plays, they win at an alarming rate. When
- 11:09Speaker 1: he doesn't play, they lose at the same alarming rate.
- 11:11Speaker 1: I know. But is that because I'm saying it's coming
- 11:14Speaker 1: because the guy, anybody that they put in instead of him,
- 11:17Speaker 1: is even worse. You tell me, yeah, I don't know
- 11:20Speaker 1: if they don't if they win despite him, right, let
- 11:23Speaker 1: me ask you would think that anybody could go in
- 11:25Speaker 1: and win? You get about the performance was right? When
- 11:29Speaker 1: you watch him play, maybe he has a little more
- 11:31Speaker 1: to do with the wins than we And I'm not
- 11:33Speaker 1: saying you, I'm saying we give him credit. When you
- 11:36Speaker 1: see him play, what do you see? I see an
- 11:38Speaker 1: average cornerback? Okay, and are you if you're the is
- 11:43Speaker 1: that a guy that you would stick with and extend
- 11:45Speaker 1: his contract? If? I if they don't have to extend it,
- 11:47Speaker 1: I think they would have to one more year. Yeah,
- 11:51Speaker 1: they don't have to extend it. They could play him
- 11:53Speaker 1: out another year. Yeah you want to keep doing that?
- 11:56Speaker 1: You know they haven't kept doing it. They signed him
- 11:59Speaker 1: to one contract. This is it. I know it has
- 12:02Speaker 1: another year on it. Yeah, it's not continuing to do anything. Yeah.
- 12:06Speaker 1: So if you have a chance to bring in Aaron
- 12:08Speaker 1: Rodgers or Tom Brady, that's that's that's a different thing. Well,
- 12:12Speaker 1: that's an upgrade. Aaron Rodgers thing is an upgrade. Yeah,
- 12:16Speaker 1: but if you're going to go to it, like Paul says,
- 12:18Speaker 1: to a guy who whoever's behind him, who doesn't win
- 12:21Speaker 1: as many games, you're doing your teamer. Listen, I don't
- 12:23Speaker 1: think that if I'm the forty nine is I'm not
- 12:25Speaker 1: getting rid of Jimmy unless I have something better to
- 12:27Speaker 1: turn to, and that includes what I think of my
- 12:30Speaker 1: first round pick. If I think he's gonna be good, Yeah,
- 12:33Speaker 1: that's a viable option. But that's the only reason why
- 12:36Speaker 1: I said that. I don't think it's a done deal
- 12:39Speaker 1: that no matter what happens, Garoppolo's gone. If you're telling
- 12:42Speaker 1: me Garoppolo is gone, they're getting Rodgers. Absolutely, you gotta
- 12:46Speaker 1: do that. Rogers says, I keep at you guys in
- 12:48Speaker 1: the playoffs, so I might as well join you. You You know,
- 12:50Speaker 1: I try to learn Deuce into these things. He never
- 12:53Speaker 1: like jumps in. Maybe I had maybe I can get
- 12:57Speaker 1: deuce on my side, and he just like sits on
- 12:59Speaker 1: the side one because I don't think you're on an
- 13:02Speaker 1: opposite side. Yeah, I don't know. This was this nebulous
- 13:04Speaker 1: where it's like I don't know are they went in
- 13:06Speaker 1: because of him or not because of I haven't watched
- 13:07Speaker 1: enough forty nine Ers games to really have Necessarily, it's
- 13:11Speaker 1: a pretty good quarterback. I think it's just it would
- 13:14Speaker 1: be a weird situation where you win the Super Bowl
- 13:16Speaker 1: with a guy and then you say, all right, we're
- 13:18Speaker 1: just gonna move on. You know, we're gonna move on
- 13:19Speaker 1: right now. Um So I if I had seen more
- 13:22Speaker 1: and I had, you know, a bigger opinion on Jimmy Garoppolo.
- 13:25Speaker 1: But I mean that you can't deny they could potentially
- 13:27Speaker 1: go to two super Bowls and three years with him,
- 13:29Speaker 1: and I think people make it out like Trent Dilfer, Yeah,
- 13:32Speaker 1: well the Ravens moved on from Trento. Yeah, No, that's
- 13:35Speaker 1: not what Garoppolo was doing. Like, let's not put him
- 13:38Speaker 1: in that category. And he also Garoppolo has one over
- 13:42Speaker 1: a span of years. Like Garoppolo's problem is he can't
- 13:45Speaker 1: stay health right, not that he can't play. I think
- 13:48Speaker 1: his other problem is he makes mistakes within games. He
- 13:51Speaker 1: does and doesn't just out of curiosity at key moments. No, see,
- 13:56Speaker 1: it's the opposite. Yeah, and key moments is when that's
- 13:59Speaker 1: the only time he played well the other day when
- 14:02Speaker 1: they were on the line on third and eleven when
- 14:05Speaker 1: he when he hit kittled. That's that's the key moment
- 14:07Speaker 1: right now. You could argue they were lucky to have
- 14:10Speaker 1: a key moment based on the way he played the
- 14:12Speaker 1: first and again he was terrible. We're not there, We
- 14:15Speaker 1: don't cover the team, so we just hear things. But
- 14:17Speaker 1: what about the narrative that the coaches don't trust them,
- 14:21Speaker 1: they don't trust, they don't trust they stay healthy. No,
- 14:24Speaker 1: that's the narrative. No, it's not just that it's his
- 14:27Speaker 1: decision making within games. They don't trust him with the game.
- 14:31Speaker 1: I don't see that, That's what I've heard. Yeah, I said,
- 14:36Speaker 1: I don't see that, right, I don't see it. I
- 14:40Speaker 1: watched them play at you know, in the snow the
- 14:43Speaker 1: other day and on third downs, you know they got
- 14:45Speaker 1: in field goal range by throwing. Now, Debo made the
- 14:49Speaker 1: big play on the last third down to melt the
- 14:52Speaker 1: clock out. That was a third and seven that they
- 14:55Speaker 1: checked into. Where did you read all about that stuff?
- 14:57Speaker 1: Like evidently they had this masters stroke because I don't
- 15:00Speaker 1: know if you know, but Shanahan's pretty spell. Yeah, he
- 15:04Speaker 1: checked into a run called a time out at the
- 15:07Speaker 1: last second and changed it to a run. So maybe
- 15:09Speaker 1: that's why people are anyway he doesn't trust them. No,
- 15:11Speaker 1: it was a specific play, but they threw the ball
- 15:14Speaker 1: on that drive to get into field goal. I think
- 15:16Speaker 1: Jimmy has a lot of talent. I really do. And
- 15:18Speaker 1: I am a fan of jim think he's okay. But
- 15:20Speaker 1: the more I watch him, the more I'm like, I
- 15:23Speaker 1: see what people are saying. It's like, you know, the
- 15:26Speaker 1: he knew, I mean he was bad, and that he
- 15:29Speaker 1: makes risky throws. Yeah, he made a lot of risky throws. Yea.
- 15:33Speaker 1: But when it's time underneath to debo or you know, Kittle,
- 15:37Speaker 1: you know, he finds his stride. But I just I
- 15:39Speaker 1: wonder how this whole I mean, last year we spent
- 15:41Speaker 1: so much time on the quarterback Carolsell, remember that last year?
- 15:44Speaker 1: Probably not the Patriots, But is it going to be
- 15:46Speaker 1: this year even more crazy with all the veterans coming
- 15:48Speaker 1: in with Rogers and Wilson and you know, how does
- 15:51Speaker 1: the how does the forty one see that Watson forgot
- 15:54Speaker 1: about the one? I mean, I think this year could
- 15:56Speaker 1: be even more you know, crazy, because last years to
- 15:58Speaker 1: seem like the teams they need a quarback draft to
- 16:00Speaker 1: quarterbacks and got him. That was last year movement. Those
- 16:04Speaker 1: guys really weren't They really weren't available, Yeah, just speculation.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Wilson and Rogers were like laying the groundwork, but they
- 16:12Speaker 1: really weren't available. Now I think those teams, especially green Bay,
- 16:16Speaker 1: obviously they realize we got to do something. Yeah, And
- 16:21Speaker 1: I think there's a chance. I don't know what's going
- 16:22Speaker 1: on in Seattle. It's been quiet in Seattle. It was
- 16:24Speaker 1: supposed to be all kinds of meetings with even Pete
- 16:27Speaker 1: Carroll wasn't necessarily a certainty to come back. And now
- 16:32Speaker 1: we haven't really heard much what's going on with the Seahawks.
- 16:34Speaker 1: But I think that's a huge one because green Bay
- 16:36Speaker 1: Wilson is still in his prime. Yeah, you know that
- 16:40Speaker 1: thirty one. Yeah, he's got some years left. Yes. And
- 16:43Speaker 1: in green Bay, if Rogers does Ley, do they just
- 16:46Speaker 1: turn to Jordan Love or are they looking for somebody better?
- 16:50Speaker 1: I don't know. I mean, is there a situation below
- 16:52Speaker 1: Rogers switch? Does Adam Adams definitely say is it a
- 16:57Speaker 1: full blow up there? I mean he's not, I mean
- 16:58Speaker 1: I would be shocked. He stays it's just so many
- 17:01Speaker 1: Green Bay, Seattle, Pittsburgh, these teams that have been you know,
- 17:05Speaker 1: really cement over the last couple of years. And just
- 17:07Speaker 1: in terms of the NFL Iron, what was that schedule
- 17:13Speaker 1: that you talked about with the Patriots. Did you not
- 17:15Speaker 1: realize that the Patriots are playing the Packers next year? Oh?
- 17:17Speaker 1: They are? Yeah, this is why isn't working out for
- 17:20Speaker 1: the Patriots again out a couple of weeks ago and
- 17:24Speaker 1: I'm still trying to get can't judge a schedule until
- 17:26Speaker 1: they find their quarterback and the season right, But it's true.
- 17:30Speaker 1: I mean there's a lot of a lot of uncertainty
- 17:32Speaker 1: of what kind of you know, I mean, in the
- 17:34Speaker 1: last ten years, if you saw those two teams, you
- 17:36Speaker 1: kind of knew what you were getting. And now who
- 17:38Speaker 1: knows who's going to be quarterback of either of those teams?
- 17:40Speaker 1: And you know, are they kind of in a reset mode?
- 17:43Speaker 1: It's uh, that know, it's a lot of questions. That's
- 17:45Speaker 1: what makes it, you know, to his credit, you know,
- 17:48Speaker 1: a good credit when credit is dude, Rogers did say
- 17:51Speaker 1: I need to make this, you know, a quick decision,
- 17:54Speaker 1: you know, in respect to the team and Davante and
- 17:56Speaker 1: other people, And I get that. Now Brady hasn't said
- 17:59Speaker 1: this same thing, like he's gonna muddle it over. But
- 18:02Speaker 1: if I'm the Bucks, I'm like, yeah, what are we doing?
- 18:06Speaker 1: We got a draft, we got free agency? What are
- 18:08Speaker 1: you doing? But you know, but I think Brady Brady
- 18:12Speaker 1: is not in the same situation. Brady didn't say he's
- 18:15Speaker 1: thinking about retiring, you know whatever and all that stuff.
- 18:17Speaker 1: I mean, there's uncertainty around him. Well he's that's just
- 18:22Speaker 1: natural for a forty four year old quarter No, I know,
- 18:24Speaker 1: but he said he needs to think about it. And
- 18:26Speaker 1: you know, but he says he hasn't thought about retiring.
- 18:28Speaker 1: He said he hasn't he hasn't set those words, He
- 18:30Speaker 1: hasn't said those words. But he's has come as close
- 18:33Speaker 1: to saying those words as I've ever heard him. And
- 18:35Speaker 1: we yeah, and we read those quotes on Friday, right,
- 18:38Speaker 1: I mean, I'm on Tuesday, and I agree. I think
- 18:41Speaker 1: there's a there's a chance that he goes. But I
- 18:43Speaker 1: also think that there's a chance that Tampa Bay knows
- 18:45Speaker 1: a lot more than the public does. Yeah. She already
- 18:49Speaker 1: posted that tweet of Brady from twenty nineteen here and
- 18:52Speaker 1: kind of relation to that I was striking to me
- 18:54Speaker 1: just how down he seemed like. I guess I've gotten
- 18:57Speaker 1: away from a little bit. I don't know if that
- 18:58Speaker 1: season you were used to it, but seeing that video
- 19:00Speaker 1: that he posted where it was the same kind of
- 19:03Speaker 1: thing talking about family and you know it. But it
- 19:06Speaker 1: was just striking to me after seeing kind of like
- 19:08Speaker 1: carefree Tampa Bay Tom for a couple of years, to
- 19:10Speaker 1: go back to that Tom and be like, wow, he
- 19:13Speaker 1: really seemed unhappy, not really. You remember the post game
- 19:16Speaker 1: from the Philly game, The Miserable. I mean that was
- 19:20Speaker 1: as miserable as ever seen a quarterback after a win. Yeah,
- 19:23Speaker 1: they won the game. I mean it wasn't pretty, but
- 19:26Speaker 1: they won, and he was like he looked like they
- 19:28Speaker 1: had just gotten blown out. Yeah, well that's why. You know,
- 19:31Speaker 1: if things aren't going he wears them on his sleeves,
- 19:34Speaker 1: so you know, he just lost that game. So I
- 19:36Speaker 1: can understand the whole thing. But you know, to me,
- 19:41Speaker 1: this time, it seemed a little bit more leaning toward
- 19:44Speaker 1: this could be real. I agree with you, Freddy, I
- 19:46Speaker 1: thought it was different. Yeah, but on your show yesterday
- 19:50Speaker 1: they were making fun of it when it's like a
- 19:52Speaker 1: little bit like, yeah, you know, one week, one week
- 19:55Speaker 1: after dropping off the kids and all that, and you'll
- 19:57Speaker 1: be wishing you were back playing. And I kind of
- 20:00Speaker 1: like, like like, let's see how much time, like if he
- 20:02Speaker 1: does retire, how much time he actually spends with it.
- 20:05Speaker 1: I listened to Paul Show yesterday with Felger and he
- 20:07Speaker 1: had a rant about Brady and like you get six
- 20:10Speaker 1: months it was. It was awesome. I mean, you know,
- 20:12Speaker 1: it's it's a damn classic down but but you know
- 20:14Speaker 1: he's not wrong, like really like, yeah, you travel one
- 20:17Speaker 1: day like he's gonna be all over the place with
- 20:20Speaker 1: TV twel you know, like you're gonna bring your kids
- 20:22Speaker 1: with you all over the ways. Yeah, yeah, they were.
- 20:25Speaker 1: They were funny with that. What do you think he
- 20:27Speaker 1: would live if he did retire? Like what would be
- 20:29Speaker 1: their main residence? What place? That's a good question. Would
- 20:33Speaker 1: it be New York? You think you think? I would think? So?
- 20:36Speaker 1: They lived in LA for a while, and I don't
- 20:38Speaker 1: I don't think she liked that. Yeah, I think new
- 20:40Speaker 1: York might be a possibility, But who knows. They have,
- 20:45Speaker 1: like you said, they have property everywhere. I know, like
- 20:48Speaker 1: what if it's not here? But what if she says,
- 20:49Speaker 1: I want to go back to like, to me, the
- 20:52Speaker 1: two factus about where they live, right, you know, to
- 20:56Speaker 1: me this time where they live? Where are we doing?
- 21:00Speaker 1: Is this? Or what's best for the kids? You know?
- 21:02Speaker 1: So where would be New York? Yeah, put him in
- 21:05Speaker 1: a private school. But even his even his son um Jack, right,
- 21:10Speaker 1: the oldest one, you know, to be maybe he wants
- 21:14Speaker 1: to be a little bit closer. She's in New York. Yeah,
- 21:16Speaker 1: and what I think, So he's getting old though, I
- 21:18Speaker 1: mean he's probably gonna be going you know, he's not
- 21:20Speaker 1: a little kid as much anymore. I mean that that
- 21:22Speaker 1: was part of it. But uh, I don't know. Is
- 21:24Speaker 1: he gonna go back to the cold environment too. I
- 21:25Speaker 1: Mean it's funny because it's like, do they really need
- 21:27Speaker 1: to put down roots? They can literally live there in
- 21:29Speaker 1: the summer and go to Florida in the winter. Oh yeah,
- 21:31Speaker 1: but like what's best for the kids. But yeah, but
- 21:34Speaker 1: that's not Yeah, that's not ideal for kids. Just get
- 21:36Speaker 1: a tutor who cares, you get money, Wow, do what
- 21:40Speaker 1: you gotta do. Yesterday it was like, you can't live
- 21:42Speaker 1: in Las Vegas. That's what that's what he's gonna do
- 21:45Speaker 1: an he retires. It's like he's gonna start teaching the
- 21:47Speaker 1: math and science physics. I love the gazelle Dragson to
- 21:50Speaker 1: Brazil for I love that story. Costa Rica. That's right,
- 21:55Speaker 1: because it's in between I think that's old Bres Central America.
- 21:58Speaker 1: Like that's where he retires. That's what you know what,
- 21:59Speaker 1: it's all old Brady. They go to Costa Rica and
- 22:01Speaker 1: to be left alone on the beach. Picture of them
- 22:04Speaker 1: like eating lunch with him and Roth. Now I want
- 22:11Speaker 1: you all to enjoy your cake? Is there avocado? And
- 22:14Speaker 1: so enjoy all right? Eight five five Passive un a
- 22:18Speaker 1: sticket hot line web radio at Patriots dot com is
- 22:21Speaker 1: the email address. As you can tell, anything's on the table. Uh,
- 22:25Speaker 1: we're we're on the couch watching now Patriots are out
- 22:29Speaker 1: of it, so we're just spectators. Um, so it's all
- 22:32Speaker 1: on the table, everything big offseason. Yeah, pat per Re, Oh,
- 22:39Speaker 1: I like that. All right, So let's turn it over
- 22:42Speaker 1: to the listeners because we've got a hurry because we've
- 22:44Speaker 1: got our picks that we have to make later. Um,
- 22:48Speaker 1: Vinny's in Vegas. What's up, Vinny? Hey, Vinny, do you
- 22:54Speaker 1: check your shoes in the morning for Tarantula's Hey, listen.
- 22:57Speaker 1: I actually one of the reasons why I want to
- 22:59Speaker 1: call you is I want to stop this slander about Vegas.
- 23:02Speaker 1: That all right, you know I have I've been in
- 23:07Speaker 1: Vegas twelve years now. My wife was actually born and
- 23:10Speaker 1: raised here. I have three little kids from you know,
- 23:14Speaker 1: thirteen to six, and I think Vegas is as good
- 23:17Speaker 1: as any other place. I mean, are you in Henderson, No,
- 23:21Speaker 1: I actually live in I live I live in the Southwest, Okay,
- 23:26Speaker 1: so I'm about probably about ten minutes from the Strip
- 23:29Speaker 1: from here. But you know, there's a lot of a lot,
- 23:34Speaker 1: a lot more than Vegas than used the stripped. I
- 23:36Speaker 1: mean we we've been to the Strip since I've been here,
- 23:40Speaker 1: you know, since I move officially here probably I don't know,
- 23:44Speaker 1: six times, yeah, in twelve years. And so there's you know,
- 23:49Speaker 1: there's there's not much you see once you've seen it,
- 23:52Speaker 1: you know, and then obviously you can't gamble too much
- 23:54Speaker 1: because then we live here. Then you sure broke right, Yeah,
- 23:57Speaker 1: But I mean it is true though. You go in
- 24:00Speaker 1: the supermarket and they have slot machines, right, because I've
- 24:03Speaker 1: been there, I know, oh yeah, not only not only
- 24:05Speaker 1: the supermarkets, but also on yeah airport. Yeah, they're everywhere
- 24:10Speaker 1: the airport. And it is true. You have tarantula's right,
- 24:14Speaker 1: this tarantulas snakes, you know, not really tarantulas. But we
- 24:17Speaker 1: have is we have a scort, scorpion, scorpions, scorpions. That's
- 24:21Speaker 1: what I that's actually what I meant with scorpions. That's
- 24:23Speaker 1: that's the same. Yeah, we do that, a scorpions. It's
- 24:27Speaker 1: only on some places where some places where what well,
- 24:32Speaker 1: you get a palm trees. They like the palm trees.
- 24:35Speaker 1: Oh okay, And what about the black widows? Because I
- 24:38Speaker 1: was out there once, I was jogging and there was
- 24:41Speaker 1: this boat and there was this big spider weapon. I
- 24:43Speaker 1: went up and they, sure enough, right in the middle
- 24:45Speaker 1: of it was this big black widow. Spiders freaked me out. Yeah,
- 24:49Speaker 1: like a liberty mutual commercials get. But those are not
- 24:52Speaker 1: you know, those are not as big of an issue though.
- 24:54Speaker 1: We we that's pretty much all we have to deal with.
- 24:57Speaker 1: Though we don't have raccoons or snakes or bears or
- 25:00Speaker 1: bring anything else. You don't have snakes, rattlesnakes. You get
- 25:05Speaker 1: rattle snakes. Then the deaths are very rarely actually too hot,
- 25:09Speaker 1: too much. Yeah, Hey, I do have I do have
- 25:12Speaker 1: a I want to I know, I don't want you
- 25:14Speaker 1: guys to go to the rabbit hole again on the
- 25:16Speaker 1: whole overtime, but I do have a I guess a suggestion,
- 25:19Speaker 1: you know, since what we're doing that yesterday. Um my
- 25:22Speaker 1: suggestion is you give you know, an extra quarter fifteen minutes.
- 25:28Speaker 1: Each team has seven and a half minutes, and if
- 25:32Speaker 1: you don't score, you turn the ball over to the
- 25:34Speaker 1: other team, right, so they both actually can possess the ball.
- 25:37Speaker 1: If by the time the that quarter is over, nobody
- 25:41Speaker 1: has scored, then at that point you start kicking field
- 25:45Speaker 1: goals you don't and what you do is you make
- 25:48Speaker 1: it more difficult, right, so you start at the thirty
- 25:51Speaker 1: yard line if you don't, you know, and then both
- 25:53Speaker 1: I don't like that. Yeah, I don't mean even the
- 25:56Speaker 1: kickers putting it in that just the hands of the kicker.
- 25:59Speaker 1: I don't like that. But yeah, yeah, yeah, I don't
- 26:03Speaker 1: like that. Now, how you go? That's how soccer in Oh,
- 26:06Speaker 1: I know, I know, but at least soccer it's not
- 26:08Speaker 1: just like soccer. It's five different players and there and
- 26:11Speaker 1: if it's still tied, they keep using other players. But
- 26:14Speaker 1: now it's all on the shoulders of one player. You know,
- 26:18Speaker 1: that is true, That is true. Yeah, I just have
- 26:21Speaker 1: one more thing if you guys, um just about the
- 26:24Speaker 1: rebuilding of the team. You know. My my thing is
- 26:27Speaker 1: I think the offense is it's okay, not great, but
- 26:30Speaker 1: I think it's okay. If you get another weapon, then
- 26:33Speaker 1: you might be able to you know, maybe a wide
- 26:35Speaker 1: receiver one or something like that. But I do think
- 26:38Speaker 1: you need to get get rid of your linebackers. They're
- 26:41Speaker 1: they're old, they're you know, they're slow. Get rid of
- 26:44Speaker 1: all of them, you know, high power even I will
- 26:47Speaker 1: even get rid of Bentley, you know, van Noy, and
- 26:50Speaker 1: then get yourself a corner. And I think you need
- 26:54Speaker 1: to let go of my forty. I think with Phillips
- 26:56Speaker 1: and and Dugger, I think you can just do things.
- 26:59Speaker 1: You know, not my opinion on that. Okay, all right, Vinnie,
- 27:03Speaker 1: thanks a lot. Yeah, Duke, how do we feel about
- 27:06Speaker 1: who the who returns? Just in terms of who retires
- 27:09Speaker 1: and who doesn't want to retire? And I'm saying who
- 27:10Speaker 1: the Patriots resigned? But do you think Dante high Tower retires?
- 27:13Speaker 1: Do you think Devin mccordy retires. I think mccordy stays
- 27:15Speaker 1: I think High Tower leaves, Yeah, yeah, leaves but doesn't retire.
- 27:19Speaker 1: I think like plays somewhere else. I think if he stays,
- 27:22Speaker 1: they're going to ask him to take a haircut and
- 27:23Speaker 1: he's not gonna do it. Yeah, yeah, you're probably right. Well, yeah,
- 27:27Speaker 1: I mean he's I think he'll retire in High Tower.
- 27:30Speaker 1: I think mccordy wants to still play. I'm not sure
- 27:32Speaker 1: where we'll play. Yeah, yeah, I think it's tough to
- 27:36Speaker 1: bring him back with that contract because of the way
- 27:39Speaker 1: they set it up. Well, again, if he's you know,
- 27:42Speaker 1: are you assuming that he wouldn't be willing to do
- 27:45Speaker 1: something to stay mccordy, like, what take you know, take
- 27:48Speaker 1: a little less? Okay, but whatever you pay him less,
- 27:51Speaker 1: you still have to pay him extra on the cap
- 27:53Speaker 1: because of the way you did those void years. Oh yeah,
- 27:55Speaker 1: you mean dead money. Yeah yeah, yeah, a couple of
- 27:57Speaker 1: years worth. And I'm not saying that that won't happen
- 28:00Speaker 1: because I don't think it'll cost you a tremendous munk.
- 28:02Speaker 1: But I also don't think he's interested in playing for nothing. Yeah,
- 28:05Speaker 1: I mean, how do you think Bill feels about losing
- 28:08Speaker 1: potentially Slater mccordy, High Tower Collins, you know, not the
- 28:13Speaker 1: Collins is really a locker room leader. But I just
- 28:16Speaker 1: I wonder, what, what what's the importance he puts on
- 28:19Speaker 1: that kind of continuity, even if it's slowing down, puts
- 28:22Speaker 1: a lot on it. I need that leadership does too,
- 28:24Speaker 1: you know. And that's why usually with those kinds of things, Mike,
- 28:27Speaker 1: you know you rattle off three, four, five names, a
- 28:30Speaker 1: couple of them will be back. Yeah, you know, I
- 28:32Speaker 1: could see Slater and mccordy being back. Yeah, yeah, I
- 28:36Speaker 1: don't know. It's just I feel like this might be
- 28:39Speaker 1: the time for Slater. Oh do you see Jeopardy last night?
- 28:42Speaker 1: By the way, no, Amy lost. I don't see Jeopardy
- 28:45Speaker 1: any night. Amy lost, Forty doesn't know who forty game Street?
- 28:49Speaker 1: Paul is that the record? He's just trying to give
- 28:52Speaker 1: a little tribute on Twitter and he gets attacked by
- 28:53Speaker 1: Andy Hard and Mike Giardi coming right out on I
- 28:57Speaker 1: saw that that was with love. Todd's in Toronto, Hey Todd,
- 29:04Speaker 1: And I'm so glad Paul's back. I don't know, it
- 29:06Speaker 1: just makes you show more approachable for some reason, even
- 29:08Speaker 1: if he's gonna slam whatever. I say. So my thing
- 29:14Speaker 1: is I was thinking about how Brady got his start
- 29:16Speaker 1: and how he had just a great defense there that
- 29:19Speaker 1: could make sure that he was always in the game
- 29:22Speaker 1: early on, and you know he had and Troy Brown
- 29:26Speaker 1: was the best receiver that they had at the time.
- 29:29Speaker 1: I sure correct me if I'm wrong. And if we
- 29:32Speaker 1: can get maybe get White back so that there's somebody dependable,
- 29:36Speaker 1: like a first down, get it up. You guys talked
- 29:38Speaker 1: about this already, well, getting somebody who could get the
- 29:41Speaker 1: first down, and I think, you know, if we got
- 29:43Speaker 1: him back, that would give him that and I would
- 29:45Speaker 1: just like us to see build the defense. But my
- 29:47Speaker 1: question for you is, I'm going to give you a
- 29:49Speaker 1: three option, go hole hog into defense, hole hog into offense,
- 29:53Speaker 1: or trying to find a balance between the two and
- 29:55Speaker 1: which way you really would feel that the team needs
- 29:58Speaker 1: to progress to the next step, because I think I
- 30:01Speaker 1: think it they go defense. It's the right thing, and
- 30:03Speaker 1: I'll take the answers hurt. Oh oh woweez, nobody went
- 30:09Speaker 1: whole hog on you today Tuesday. Um, apparently he didn't listen.
- 30:13Speaker 1: Hole hog on offense, hole hog on defense, or a
- 30:15Speaker 1: balanced approach. I just I think you got to balance that.
- 30:19Speaker 1: To me, if a balanced approach equals. Okay, I get
- 30:21Speaker 1: a wide receiver one and then the rest is defense.
- 30:24Speaker 1: I like that. I'll I could go for that. What
- 30:26Speaker 1: do you want to do? First receiver one, a true
- 30:30Speaker 1: one wide receiver and then the rest defense. Yeah. I
- 30:34Speaker 1: think they need to do defense and uh, corner like
- 30:40Speaker 1: maybe like a linebacker, Yeah, yeah, a tackle, tackle, Uh,
- 30:44Speaker 1: those things I think they do before they're down running back,
- 30:47Speaker 1: like a James White replacement. I mean, the tackle situation,
- 30:50Speaker 1: I think is is definitely something to talk about because
- 30:54Speaker 1: you have Isaiah Win one more year. You don't have
- 30:55Speaker 1: anybody at right tackle right now. And I don't know
- 30:57Speaker 1: how they feel about Michael and Win. You maybe they
- 30:59Speaker 1: see him going there long term, but I think they
- 31:01Speaker 1: need some stability there. I think that that again last year,
- 31:04Speaker 1: I felt like that was the dark horse first pick,
- 31:06Speaker 1: and I still think it could be a dark horse,
- 31:08Speaker 1: you know, first round pick, depending on how yes go.
- 31:11Speaker 1: But a corner linebackers, Paul said, I mean, you could
- 31:14Speaker 1: really make a case for just about any defensive position. Yeah.
- 31:17Speaker 1: A lot of it might depend on what Jacy Jackson
- 31:19Speaker 1: and start doing. You know, they might feel like, oh god,
- 31:22Speaker 1: if he's gone now, they really need to focus on
- 31:24Speaker 1: defense and cornerback in particular. Yeah, you need at least
- 31:27Speaker 1: at least two. Yeah, and that's and that's assuming that
- 31:30Speaker 1: you bring Jonathan Jones back at you know, at his
- 31:32Speaker 1: number that he has. But again, how much does he
- 31:35Speaker 1: bring when you really need outside corners? It's like, you know,
- 31:38Speaker 1: I know everybody was all over Miles Bryant, but you know,
- 31:42Speaker 1: how much of a drop off is that? Really? Like
- 31:44Speaker 1: if you have two good outside corners and you turn
- 31:46Speaker 1: Jonathan Jones over to Miles bryan you know, and I
- 31:49Speaker 1: don't know how much Jonathan Jones played when he was healthy,
- 31:52Speaker 1: but it still feels like you're really paying a guy
- 31:54Speaker 1: a lot to be And who knows, maybe he kind
- 31:57Speaker 1: of this is something else, Maybe he transitions back to safety,
- 31:59Speaker 1: maybe he kind of takes over, you know, some of
- 32:01Speaker 1: that mccordy free safety role. He's experiencing this Jonathan Jones.
- 32:05Speaker 1: You know, maybe they maybe they look at him that way.
- 32:07Speaker 1: But UM, a lot to figure out outside corners big priority.
- 32:11Speaker 1: Ran from Colorado wants to note this. Paul of his
- 32:14Speaker 1: own show, Fred, will you drop a plug for Paul's show?
- 32:17Speaker 1: I'd love to check it out because I always say
- 32:19Speaker 1: Paul's show. I think the Audacity app if you get that,
- 32:22Speaker 1: it's got EI on it and they and then the
- 32:26Speaker 1: ninety eight point five is to tune in or the
- 32:29Speaker 1: you know so, yeah ninety eight point five the sports
- 32:32Speaker 1: radio or EI or Paul shows, and Paul often makes
- 32:36Speaker 1: appearances on one or the other, mostly not on You've
- 32:41Speaker 1: never been on the EI. I mean I have, yeah,
- 32:43Speaker 1: not since I started doing But you're a regular on
- 32:45Speaker 1: the Felgern maz correct Wednesdays at four o'clock. Yeah, but
- 32:50Speaker 1: not anymore, don't we during the season? What I know,
- 32:53Speaker 1: I tuned in yesterday, like I was, like, was Paul,
- 32:55Speaker 1: that's ridiculous. I think they're really making a big kind
- 32:58Speaker 1: of a week from Sunday. I'll be on Sunday Morning
- 33:01Speaker 1: with Teddy J on the Football Show. I don't know, Paul, Yeah,
- 33:08Speaker 1: I don't know. Okay, So that's that's on the Audacity No, no, no,
- 33:14Speaker 1: it's on the Sports help. You're getting a kind of
- 33:16Speaker 1: Audacity Odyssey. Oh yes, it's Odyssey. Okay. Audacity used to
- 33:24Speaker 1: be an app that you could record sounds off of
- 33:26Speaker 1: your computer. Remember, Oh really, yeah, you know what I'm
- 33:28Speaker 1: talking about, right, Morrel Sound guy, sound guy. Yeah, okah, Audacity, Yeah,
- 33:35Speaker 1: it's an older app but okay, um Bart from Poland
- 33:40Speaker 1: writing in UM with Miami not in a rush to
- 33:44Speaker 1: hire a head coach. I would really love to see
- 33:47Speaker 1: them lose out on day Ball and hire someone like
- 33:50Speaker 1: Vance Joseph. But if I'm being honest, I'd rather they
- 33:53Speaker 1: hire Dayble than McDaniel from San Francisco. I don't know
- 33:57Speaker 1: what that means. When it comes to picks. I've got
- 34:00Speaker 1: since in La, but it's probably gonna be Casey Okay, yeah, yeah,
- 34:03Speaker 1: since and LA. Haven't really thought about that matchup much.
- 34:08Speaker 1: What would be the best rating and what would be
- 34:10Speaker 1: the worst rating? Rated? And I know, Paul, either one's
- 34:13Speaker 1: gonna be great and I was gonna just completely stay
- 34:16Speaker 1: out of it and let you guys doing Casey rams
- 34:19Speaker 1: I think would be the most since highest, the you know,
- 34:22Speaker 1: the most high profile of the two. But and then
- 34:25Speaker 1: since and San Franco. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I just
- 34:30Speaker 1: wish these things were provable. That's all. Well, it's it's
- 34:34Speaker 1: just a rating. It's you know, no, but I'm still
- 34:36Speaker 1: great no matter what. But you only get to see one. Yeah,
- 34:39Speaker 1: oh right, right, how do you know you don't get
- 34:41Speaker 1: to see the other possible matchups to say, oh see,
- 34:44Speaker 1: I was right. Look at the rating a game, right, Okay,
- 34:47Speaker 1: there's not a third place game. It's like because I
- 34:51Speaker 1: think in terms of a rating, the actual rating, I
- 34:54Speaker 1: think San Francisco Cincinnati in eighty one is like the
- 34:57Speaker 1: highest rated super Bowl ever. I think you're right. I
- 34:59Speaker 1: mean it's not the most people who have ever watched it,
- 35:02Speaker 1: but it was the highest rate everybody, right, you know,
- 35:04Speaker 1: kind of like the mash for nowe yeah, when there
- 35:07Speaker 1: were four channels, right, yeah, yeah, this that this or
- 35:09Speaker 1: that that's you got four things, right. Uh. Tony writes
- 35:13Speaker 1: in I want nikkil Harry to retire, not Tom Brady,
- 35:16Speaker 1: because clearly that was funny. Clearly Harry has some incriminating
- 35:21Speaker 1: pictures which ensure his presence on the team. Does he
- 35:25Speaker 1: make it out of camp next year? Does he make it?
- 35:28Speaker 1: Does he make it two camp? I think if he
- 35:29Speaker 1: makes it two camp, there is better than average chance
- 35:32Speaker 1: that he ends up staying because he's cheap. Yeah, right,
- 35:36Speaker 1: that's that's the thing. But I think they need to
- 35:38Speaker 1: make at least a move there, whether it's in the
- 35:41Speaker 1: draft somewhere, maybe another free agent who's not quite so
- 35:45Speaker 1: you know, yeah, expensive, but maybe it's an upgrade. And
- 35:48Speaker 1: even with you know, Agilo's only got one year left,
- 35:50Speaker 1: regardless if you bring him back or not. So you know,
- 35:52Speaker 1: nikkil Harry's got one year left assuming they don't pick
- 35:54Speaker 1: up his fifth year option, in which everybody is assuming
- 35:56Speaker 1: of course, right, Um so I you know, I again,
- 35:59Speaker 1: I think pretty much any position on the roster with
- 36:02Speaker 1: regard to fifty year options. You know, we're talking about
- 36:05Speaker 1: wide receiver ones. You know that everybody's clamoring for myself
- 36:10Speaker 1: included the Calvin Ridley thing that continues to be an issue.
- 36:15Speaker 1: I saw something that Albert Breer wrote yesterday that I
- 36:20Speaker 1: wasn't aware of with him his contract. He does not
- 36:24Speaker 1: get in the crude season for last year because he
- 36:26Speaker 1: didn't play enough. I guess. So he is not yet
- 36:29Speaker 1: on that fifty year option that they guaranteed him. So
- 36:34Speaker 1: you can make an argument that makes it. You can
- 36:36Speaker 1: make an argument either way it makes him more attractive
- 36:40Speaker 1: to a team or possibly less because now you're trading
- 36:45Speaker 1: for a guy with two years guaranteed on his deal,
- 36:49Speaker 1: and there's a lot of uncertainty with Calvin Ridley for
- 36:52Speaker 1: obvious reasons with him. He stepped away from the game
- 36:55Speaker 1: for personal health case, you know, to you know, so
- 37:00Speaker 1: I just thought in the here and now, the immediate future,
- 37:05Speaker 1: he's a lot cheaper than that eleven million I think,
- 37:08Speaker 1: although the eleven millions nothing anyway, I don't that wasn't
- 37:11Speaker 1: to me a stumbling block for any team to trade
- 37:14Speaker 1: for him. But he'll be making a lot less than
- 37:17Speaker 1: that in his fourth year, not the fifth year, so maybe,
- 37:22Speaker 1: you know, maybe he does end up getting moved. I
- 37:24Speaker 1: still have not read anything about Ridley to indicate this
- 37:28Speaker 1: is strictly about Atlanta. He wants out of Atlanta. That's
- 37:31Speaker 1: why he didn't play last year, as opposed to he
- 37:34Speaker 1: was having some personal turmoil and he had to step
- 37:37Speaker 1: away from the game for his personal health reasons. Yeah,
- 37:39Speaker 1: and I don't know what the answer to these questions are.
- 37:43Speaker 1: My answer to will I be interested in Calvin Ridley
- 37:46Speaker 1: is one percent. Yes. I think he's an outstanding player
- 37:49Speaker 1: and he'd be a huge upgrade for the Patriots Addison
- 37:53Speaker 1: and Fresno. I was wondering if you had looked into
- 37:55Speaker 1: the contract status of some of the Bills players. I
- 37:58Speaker 1: know the cap is crap, but they're there is a
- 38:00Speaker 1: chance that Josh Allen starts to lose some of his
- 38:03Speaker 1: bevy of weapons. That's a question. Is this all moot?
- 38:06Speaker 1: Because the bills will simply be as good as long
- 38:08Speaker 1: as Josh Allen is there. Both, Um, most of them
- 38:12Speaker 1: aren't up. I think Levi Wallace was one that they
- 38:15Speaker 1: were talking about yesterday. Hughes how they extended Allen. Right,
- 38:18Speaker 1: he's all set. Yeah, yes, but they have they have
- 38:22Speaker 1: they'll have digs, they'll have um, Gabriel Davis is like
- 38:26Speaker 1: a two year guy, so he's he's young and cheap. Um. Yeah,
- 38:30Speaker 1: and they have Dawson Knox is young and cheap like that.
- 38:34Speaker 1: You know, they'll probably lose a guy like Emmanuel Sanders,
- 38:36Speaker 1: who was he was the rent, you know, so Emmanuel Sands.
- 38:44Speaker 1: But yeah, so like, I don't think you're gonna end
- 38:46Speaker 1: up losing anybody that you really want to Taiwan Jones.
- 38:50Speaker 1: I would even say they might even add like a
- 38:52Speaker 1: running back. Well like last year they added Sanders, ye right,
- 38:56Speaker 1: you know, to to that stable. And I think you
- 38:59Speaker 1: could probably let Sanders go and add somebody of his
- 39:03Speaker 1: uh hilk. Yeah, but you I mean, you got two
- 39:06Speaker 1: good guys at the top, and I think Beasley is
- 39:09Speaker 1: sort of on the way down, you know, um, you know,
- 39:12Speaker 1: who knows if he'll be back. Um. I think they
- 39:16Speaker 1: have a lot of options they need to. I think
- 39:20Speaker 1: they need to invest a little bit more in their
- 39:22Speaker 1: offensive line, get you know, maybe get a little bit
- 39:26Speaker 1: more depth than the offensive line. Although you know that
- 39:28Speaker 1: that the Spencer Brown kid, you know, did pretty well
- 39:31Speaker 1: for them as a rookie. Boy. Um, you know, he
- 39:33Speaker 1: wasn't great. He get up a lot of pressure, but
- 39:35Speaker 1: overall he wasn't bad. Um. And I think that they're
- 39:39Speaker 1: probably gonna need to to add to their depth on
- 39:41Speaker 1: defense too, because you mentioned Jerry Hughes. Yeah, you know,
- 39:44Speaker 1: some of those guys are a little bit long in
- 39:46Speaker 1: the tooth and you want to get some young guys behind.
- 39:49Speaker 1: Then they got you know, in recent drafts, they got
- 39:52Speaker 1: your your boy from Iowa Epanessa um and the guy
- 39:56Speaker 1: they you know, Rousseau they drafted this year, who was
- 39:58Speaker 1: much better against the run than people thought he would be,
- 40:00Speaker 1: but wasn't the huge as a pass rusher guy. So
- 40:03Speaker 1: they have a good mix of talents in Buffalo. It's
- 40:06Speaker 1: I don't think they're going away anytimes. No, I think
- 40:08Speaker 1: the bigger question just how does how does the offense do?
- 40:10Speaker 1: Once Dable leaves? I think Dabele gets a lot of
- 40:12Speaker 1: credit for putting it together, getting the best out of them.
- 40:14Speaker 1: I mean, they were, you know, unstoppable. Obviously who was
- 40:17Speaker 1: the guy? Um? Oh, I think it's Ken Dorsey? The
- 40:21Speaker 1: oh yeah, so I guess Allen has already advocated for
- 40:25Speaker 1: Ken Dorsey, who I assume is on the staff already.
- 40:27Speaker 1: He's probably like the quarterbacks coach or something. So they
- 40:30Speaker 1: did what like we would talking about on Tuesday. But
- 40:33Speaker 1: but evidently Dable wants him as his offensive coordinator. Intrigue.
- 40:38Speaker 1: So but I think if you make him the offensive
- 40:40Speaker 1: coordinator right then he can't go right well and he
- 40:45Speaker 1: doesn't have a team. But why would he want to
- 40:47Speaker 1: prove it with Josh Allen? If you do good for
- 40:49Speaker 1: a couple of years, you know, maybe I can fix
- 40:54Speaker 1: Daniel Jones. You know I would. I would stick with
- 40:57Speaker 1: the known. Plus, when it's cold, you're in the booths.
- 41:00Speaker 1: What do you kid? I can't argue jacket and I'm
- 41:07Speaker 1: In the past three drafts, the Patriots have used relatively
- 41:10Speaker 1: high draft picks to invest in the following players. Chase
- 41:12Speaker 1: Winovitz third round and Freddy Jennings third round, Jowan Williams second,
- 41:17Speaker 1: Josh Uche second, Devin Asia third, Dalton Keene third, Ronnie
- 41:22Speaker 1: Perkins third. Notwithstanding the large amount of draft capital invested
- 41:26Speaker 1: in these players, not one of them has become a starter.
- 41:29Speaker 1: Are we to believe the Patriots whiffed and all these
- 41:32Speaker 1: relatively high draft picks. If so, the Patriots need to
- 41:35Speaker 1: change their approach to the draft. If the Patriots didn't whiff,
- 41:39Speaker 1: why haven't any of them cracked a starting lineup? What
- 41:42Speaker 1: is the future of these players? Well, Perkins got hurt
- 41:45Speaker 1: right away, right, and then he fell behind He yeah,
- 41:49Speaker 1: he might have had he had an ankle injury, I think,
- 41:52Speaker 1: like the first couple of weeks, but it wasn't the
- 41:54Speaker 1: injury that kept him off. And Keane gut has had injuries.
- 41:57Speaker 1: He has I don't know what he Jennings Keen was
- 42:02Speaker 1: a knee. Yeah, Jennings was hurt. Jennings hurt. We didn't
- 42:04Speaker 1: see Keen at all during training camp. Williams was a wif.
- 42:07Speaker 1: It looks like Perkins was on the field every single
- 42:10Speaker 1: day of training camp right and was relegated to didn't
- 42:13Speaker 1: show him much team, maybe a little bit against the
- 42:16Speaker 1: Giants at the end where in that game, Oh there's
- 42:18Speaker 1: a little bit. I never really got it with him.
- 42:21Speaker 1: It wasn't an injury thing with It's my point. I
- 42:23Speaker 1: know that he periodically showed up on the report. That's
- 42:26Speaker 1: not why he wasn't playing. No, he was out there
- 42:28Speaker 1: every day for training. I wrote the Rookie Review today.
- 42:31Speaker 1: He had an ankle injury at the start. I think
- 42:33Speaker 1: he had a shoulder injury in the middle, and then
- 42:35Speaker 1: he had an ankle injury at the end that landed
- 42:37Speaker 1: him on IR for the last five weeks. But you know,
- 42:39Speaker 1: I mean, I don't think the email is saying anything.
- 42:41Speaker 1: We haven't talked to him. He went on IR to
- 42:43Speaker 1: create a Rosha spot. Let's call it what it is.
- 42:45Speaker 1: I mean, I knew he wasn't doing anything. Um, you know,
- 42:48Speaker 1: he's right. I mean, I think I see it with Jennings.
- 42:51Speaker 1: I mean, I know, you know he has his issues,
- 42:53Speaker 1: but I think at least when you look at him,
- 42:55Speaker 1: you say, all right, well, I get what they're trying
- 42:56Speaker 1: to do. They're trying to get another one of those guys.
- 42:58Speaker 1: But you know, we talked about many times Uch and
- 43:01Speaker 1: Winovich where they they're third down guys. I don't know
- 43:03Speaker 1: if they're ever going to be full down guys. So
- 43:05Speaker 1: I mean the criticism is apt, and you're right, that's
- 43:08Speaker 1: why apt the decent. The the defense struggled. It's it's
- 43:11Speaker 1: they got too many guys that are older, and you know,
- 43:15Speaker 1: they don't have those fresh, young legs like you would want.
- 43:17Speaker 1: Are they ready to turn it over? And all of
- 43:19Speaker 1: a sudden it's all right, we're just gonna go next
- 43:21Speaker 1: year with mcgron and with ray Kwon McMillan and Ouch
- 43:25Speaker 1: and Winovich and we're just gonna throw it in there.
- 43:26Speaker 1: I think it's a stretch to expect that. I think
- 43:29Speaker 1: they've got to find, you know, at least one more guy. Um,
- 43:33Speaker 1: how does terres Hall fit back in? We've talked about
- 43:35Speaker 1: him as somebody, Um he's I mean, how does does
- 43:38Speaker 1: j Bentley? Do you bring Jowan Bentley back when you
- 43:41Speaker 1: know you really have kind of a throwback potential player
- 43:44Speaker 1: in him. You've got some other middle linebackers that, um,
- 43:47Speaker 1: you know, Jelanni to buy is how much of a
- 43:49Speaker 1: drop off is it really from Bentley to Jelanny to buy?
- 43:52Speaker 1: You know, playin significant But I don't think that Bentley's
- 43:57Speaker 1: worth Yeah, that's that's what's hard. What's hard. But I mean,
- 44:01Speaker 1: but I think as like a you know, in a
- 44:03Speaker 1: Landing Roberts, you know, just just stop the run, just
- 44:06Speaker 1: be an early down guy. Then, you know, instead of
- 44:09Speaker 1: trying to make Jawan Bentley into a three down linebacker,
- 44:12Speaker 1: just kind of lean into the role. And I think
- 44:15Speaker 1: how they handle the linebacker position it will be one
- 44:18Speaker 1: of the most interesting things to kind of watch because
- 44:20Speaker 1: they've got a lot of those guys as we've listed off.
- 44:22Speaker 1: I mean, they have a bunch there, but they don't
- 44:24Speaker 1: have anybody who's proven been there, done that, or really
- 44:27Speaker 1: fits what they want. You know. It's not like Jamie
- 44:30Speaker 1: Collins and coming back in twenty fourteen and you're like, wow,
- 44:33Speaker 1: he looked really good in the playoffs. It seems like
- 44:35Speaker 1: he's ready to you know, when he did take over
- 44:36Speaker 1: with High Tower and played a big role in twenty
- 44:38Speaker 1: fourteen and you know, became an every down linebacker. But
- 44:41Speaker 1: you don't have anybody like that. All right, We're gonna
- 44:43Speaker 1: take a quick break, eat some food when we come back.

- 54:25Speaker 1: only been on a team like Brandon Cooks. Yeah, changes teams. Yeah,
- 54:28Speaker 1: I'm just might not have at his age that knowledge
- 54:31Speaker 1: of a system that's I was given erect the props,
- 54:35Speaker 1: that's right. I don't understand what his age has to
- 54:37Speaker 1: do with anything. I think his age has to do
- 54:40Speaker 1: with a lot. If it's a talking trade, I think
- 54:42Speaker 1: another team is taking into consideration the guy's age, right,
- 54:46Speaker 1: don't why because he's old, because he doesn't know my system?
- 54:50Speaker 1: That's what you said. This is the only thing that
- 54:53Speaker 1: I disagree said is that he's more valuable to the Patriots,
- 54:56Speaker 1: Because that's right, and that's nothing to do with age.
- 54:59Speaker 1: But at his his age, he has less to contribute
- 55:02Speaker 1: to another team Patriots. I agree. Then that's why I
- 55:05Speaker 1: don't think because he's old. About two minutes later, who
- 55:11Speaker 1: was even more valuable to a tea pots? Why because
- 55:16Speaker 1: he is on the Patriot? You can't even answer, you know,
- 55:20Speaker 1: forget it. It's it's over, okay, so ding ding ding,
- 55:23Speaker 1: it's over. Let's move on. About five minutes later than ridiculous,
- 55:29Speaker 1: this is what happened. You can't have it. You can't
- 55:31Speaker 1: have an argue because you can't thank you're not allowed

- 55:47Speaker 1: I don't think I sound like the one who's upset here?
- 55:50Speaker 1: Oh no, oh no, you very much sound like the
- 55:53Speaker 1: one who's upset. That's ridiculous. That's ridiculous. That's ridiculous. We
- 55:59Speaker 1: just like that ended it, so I know. I mean,
- 56:00Speaker 1: it's like it's like I have to put down a
- 56:03Speaker 1: vampire exactly, Like can I keep coming back? You've decided that? Still,
- 56:10Speaker 1: that's another great moment from great all right, Um, I've
- 56:17Speaker 1: heard that one before. Why do we not recent the
- 56:22Speaker 1: finish for that one? Had nothing to do with me
- 56:26Speaker 1: or friend? It was, I said the guy that came
- 56:29Speaker 1: off the top rope, Deuce, don't hime. It might be
- 56:32Speaker 1: kind of good as a pass rush or somewhere there
- 56:34Speaker 1: you go, Yeah, all of it. Um. Listener on host Crime,
- 56:41Speaker 1: Justin writes, and please tell Deuce to stop doing that
- 56:44Speaker 1: thing with his voice? What is that thing? I don't

- 56:51Speaker 1: that I'm aware of God. I hope I don't have
- 56:52Speaker 1: a weird another weird tick. I mean we've already got
- 56:55Speaker 1: Blount and yes and Chandler. Chandler, please be more specific, Yeah,
- 57:01Speaker 1: but be nice about it. Yeah, just so I don't
- 57:03Speaker 1: I don't know what he's doing with his voice. I
- 57:05Speaker 1: don't know. Uh. A couple of callers I've been holding
- 57:10Speaker 1: on for a while. I appreciate that. William and Philam.
- 57:12Speaker 1: What's up? William? Thank? What's up? Fred? How are you
- 57:15Speaker 1: doing good? Okay? Uh? Just what? Well? I actually I
- 57:19Speaker 1: had three questions. One I just wanted to say I
- 57:21Speaker 1: heard you last Uh was it Tuesdy? I think? And
- 57:25Speaker 1: you were out? He was calling my name though, But
- 57:27Speaker 1: I was waiting for a while because if y'all be
- 57:29Speaker 1: at work when y'all go live, you know what I mean.
- 57:30Speaker 1: So when I go on my munch Grey, I only
- 57:32Speaker 1: had a little bit of time. But that's cool though,
- 57:34Speaker 1: And I mean I was just listening. Oh you weren't
- 57:36Speaker 1: there when I called you out? Okay, right right, I
- 57:38Speaker 1: was there. I was there for a while though, but
- 57:40Speaker 1: then after this I had to go though, Okay, well
- 57:42Speaker 1: just hang up, okay, yeah, I understand, Yeah, okay, Uh,
- 57:47Speaker 1: so um, let me see, uh, Eric and Mike remember
- 57:51Speaker 1: when I talked to y'all about the Alabama thing, and
- 57:54Speaker 1: you know, yeah, maybe I should have thought about that
- 57:56Speaker 1: a little bit more better. But what would be so
- 57:58Speaker 1: much to differ from that? When we uh drafted damn
- 58:01Speaker 1: Easily and he had two tour acls and both is
- 58:04Speaker 1: late and then you had to wait a whole year
- 58:06Speaker 1: for him anyway just to see, Yeah, and that was
- 58:09Speaker 1: a bad pick. Yeah yeah, okay, okay, that was that
- 58:14Speaker 1: was that was a bust. Oh yeah, yeah. I think
- 58:16Speaker 1: they thought he was gonna be a bar more ended up. Yeah,
- 58:19Speaker 1: but you know, like one ACL, like, I think that
- 58:23Speaker 1: Easily had problems beyond just the I think he just
- 58:25Speaker 1: had weak knees. He did, remember that when they brought
- 58:28Speaker 1: him off, walked out and we were like, he looks
- 58:31Speaker 1: like he's both or like knock knock kneed. Yeah. I
- 58:33Speaker 1: was like this guy, like that's gonna make it. And
- 58:36Speaker 1: we were you know, just sometimes you know, you can't
- 58:40Speaker 1: judge from first impressions, but we were right there, you
- 58:43Speaker 1: know with Michi. Listen, I if he's in the second round,
- 58:46Speaker 1: I take him, Yeah, I take him. Yeah he might
- 58:52Speaker 1: be I'd be willing to wait, they say, they say
- 58:54Speaker 1: though with the acls, like with the skill position, guys,
- 58:58Speaker 1: that first year back you can play, but you're just
- 59:01Speaker 1: not quite yourself. The second year you are. Yeah, you know.
- 59:04Speaker 1: So I think to Williams, point is, are you willing
- 59:06Speaker 1: to make that concession and wait a year for him
- 59:09Speaker 1: to be at his best? I mean, he's he's available
- 59:13Speaker 1: somewhat though right immediately he would get out there because
- 59:15Speaker 1: he was early in the season. He tore it right,
- 59:17Speaker 1: that was that was I don't remember at the end,
- 59:20Speaker 1: but I take it. I take it absolutely. I mean,
- 59:23Speaker 1: I think anything that you can do in the draft
- 59:24Speaker 1: to give you know, mac a long term weapon under
- 59:27Speaker 1: a rookie contract, I'm all for it. Yeah. Okay, one
- 59:30Speaker 1: more thing and that's it. This one is a football Well.
- 59:33Speaker 1: I spoke to the gentleman about Jamison Williams. Joe, so
- 59:38Speaker 1: would you take him? Or let's say okay, and let's
- 59:42Speaker 1: just say God for big you know, Bill, just do this,
- 59:45Speaker 1: like if he takes the Kobe Deame or my man
- 59:48Speaker 1: Devin Lloyd from Utah or he the I'm my Garden.
- 59:52Speaker 1: I'm big on fan. I'm a big fan of his.
- 59:54Speaker 1: So Anyway, my question is would you you know, if
- 59:57Speaker 1: he would you think Bill would take him? You know,
- 59:59Speaker 1: I'm and there's so you know, the key word is
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: seed here. Okay, I mean that's just too out to day.
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: I mean he got to hit on at least sport
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: he's got, you know, I mean Rabbit's defense, offensive line
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: we see ra I don't know, I mean, what would
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: you what would you think? What will happened? Though? And
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: I'll leave it out there, Okay, all right here, thanks William.
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: There's a lot there, and I'm not exactly sure what
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: the question is. Um. I think that they definitely need
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: a lot of different positions that we talked about earlier
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: in the show. Cornerback, you know, an athletic linebacker that
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: breaks the mold. I don't expect them to go after
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: an athletic lie. I don't, nicolebe Dean. I just don't.
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: I'm not telling you never because Bill will surprise us.
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: But it's been twenty plus years and that's not the
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: sort of skill set that Bill gravitates toward. Would have
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: been interesting though, if Micah Parsons were available, but this
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: past year, what they would have done. Yeah, I think
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: that he's bigger than the bigger than these guys. Yeah,
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: And I think that's I totally agree with Paul. And
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: I think a lot of these, um you know, getting
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: some emails about Nakobe Dean and I think it's a
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: good from Utah is really good too. I figured it right.
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: And they're both like six two two twenty and and
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: I think it's kind of like our fan analysis thing,
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: like they need to get fast, they need to adjust,
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: they need to and I think we're prisoners in the
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: moment a little bit on trying. And I like those
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: guys a little bit. I've kind of dipped into them both.
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: I think they embody like what we think they need,
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: but I'm not I'm with Paul. I don't know if
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: that's what they think they need. Micah Possons is one
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: of those guys that I think Bill would have been
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: interesting because he's kind of a unicorn, right, and he
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: plays everywhere. He's six he's six three, two forty five. Yes,
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: like Nakobey Dean is like six foot like two twenty five, right,
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: And that's not there, that's not something that And again
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: I'm not telling you that Bill will never take that guy. Like,
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: I don't I don't do that to Bill Belichi because
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: there are no boxes that he can be sort of
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: put in and and there is never a way out.
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: He will do different things from different times. I don't
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: think that, you know, history will tell us. I don't
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: think that that's a guy that he would he would
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: go for in the first round. He might take a
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: guy like that with that kind of a skill set
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: later on and say I can use him on special teams.
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: I can do this, and if he blossoms and then
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: maybe I have something. But it's kind of a landing Roberts.
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: I mean, he's kind of that size, not exactly the
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: sideline to sideline first round, but he's a later six
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: foot is thinking of Utah, No, no, no, it's Devin Lloyd.
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: That was the name of UM. But but I think,
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: you know, schematically, everybody you know wants to figure out
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: what they're doing. But I think probably the core of
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: what they're probably gonna stick to is keeping two big
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: body tackles and having a middle linebacker that's kind of
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: a thumber behind them. They use the safeties, they use
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: the duggers, the Phillips as the athletic guys. I don't
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: know if it's a middle linebacker. I don't know what
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: they're and and this is what Patrick Queen last year
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: we talked about these guys. I love them. I think
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: you know, yes, some of them have him like I do.
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: I give you the roster of all the different guys,
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: and then they have not all been great, but I
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: think there's been an off of them that have worked
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: that you can say, you know, you can do it
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: at that size. Yeah, you know the Whites, the Bushes,
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: the David's, the you know, the Murray's, that the Queens,
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: you know, Fred Warner, you you were talking about when
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: we were watching h watching highlights that they were playing
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: on NFL Network. And they're not all really small. Some
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: of them are bigger than others. So I'm not I'm
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: not you know, I'm not painting all with the same
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: broad brush. But I just liked the idea of an
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: athletic three down linebacker, even if he's not like filling
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: the the suit. You know, he doesn't have to be
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: six three two fifty yep and take on guards and
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: you know, stuff the run. He could do everything well.
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: I think Mayo was maybe a little bit of a
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: tweener as because he's not. He's probably like six two
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: two forty like it, not not quite as light as
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: those guys, but you know that that's probably as closer
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: you're gonna get, Travis, and Baltimore writes in he says,
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: um as a clarification, Breer walked back the moment on
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: to Ridley that his contract did not toll and he'd
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: be on the fifth year option next year provided he
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: comes back to play. Obviously. Okay, that's a good, uh correction,
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: Because I had I had seen Bird I think tweeted
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: something out about it. Yeah, um, and I thought that
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: that offer a wrinkle. Again, I'm not sure if it
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: if it made him more acquirable or less, you know,
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: because I think there's some there's some gray area in there,
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: like do you want an extra year of term that
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: you because you know the fifty year option, I don't
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: know like that like that, I don't know, you know,
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: that would have been a question too for like, um,
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: I'm glad that that Bird ended that. But so let's
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: say you had that deadline you had to say yes
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: to pick up the fifth year option. Well, you had
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: to do that heading into the fourth year. Does that
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: is that binding? I was think of the same. Do
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: you know what I mean, like another team to trade
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: for him and say, actually, well no for the other
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: like if his contract didn't talk, like if he was
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: still entering his fourth year now, right, do you have
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: another choice to make? Do I have till May to
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: make that decision again? Or was my original my original
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: choice binding like that that would have been interesting? Or
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: if you trade him, does does another team have the
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: same option where they didn't agree to it? So no,
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: I think that that's that's his contract. You trade for
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: his contract. That's that I know because when you trade
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: for a guy, his contract right now states that that
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: fifth year is getting just like if someone trades for
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: Isaiah Win, they have to take that fifth year options.
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: He's on it. Yeah, yeah, let's go back to the
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: phones John's and DC. Hey, John, Hey, how's it going good? Oh?
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: I've I've been thinking about UM defense and particularly rebuilding that,
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: and I I think there's basically only four questions you
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: have to ask your stuff. And you sort of started
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: answering the first one, which is are we changing the
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: philosophically at linebacker position? Right? Because I'm looking at the
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: draft and just where reality hits, you know, theory, you know,
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: the draft, there's four really stellar guys at the linebacker position,
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: and then there's just a bunch of run stoppers, sort
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: of gowandantly type. I think, you know, so, I think
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: that going to be a key, because if you have
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: to get an athletic linebacker, you have to use your
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: first to your second round picks. So I think that's
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: the first question. Are we changing philosophically at linebacker or
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: are we doing the Cameron Camragron, Ray Kwan McMillan patched
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: jop for a year. If you're asking me to pick
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: one of those two things, I'll pick the second one.
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: I think that's more likely. But I don't know, Like
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: it's hard to make these choices without seeing how a
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: board sets up and how it unfolds. Like maybe Bill
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: thinks a lot more of one of those guys than
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: we're giving him credit for, and then all of a
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: sudden he's there like, wow, you know twenty one, I
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: I can get this guy I didn't, you know, And
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: he might he might jump at it, you know, I don't,
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: I don't know, or yeah, he also might like a
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: guy you know, like Jamant Bentley. You know, everybody's like,
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: you know, well you gonna say, well, when did they
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: draft your one? But but in the third round. But
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: I think color is what you're saying, Like, let's just
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: say that first scenario Paul said twenty one that guy's
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: there will jump. Are you saying that if they do
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: that it requires a change in philosophy and the defense.
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: I don't think it necessary. I don't think it necessarily
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: necessarily does. But what I'm saying is that with your
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: with your concerns, particularly at the wide receiver position and
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: the cornerback position, and given particularly how how crucial those
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: are going to be, I think you can pass a
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: linebacker for a year weight of the twenty twenty three
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: class and then get more of a selection than than
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: in this year's draft, is what I'm saying. Okay, Yeah,
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: I think that the change of philosophy to me would
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: be more personnel related than scheme related. I don't think
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: that you need to change your personnel. You're the way
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: you play, if you like, if you plug into Kobe
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: Dean for Jawan Bentley, it's different, but it doesn't mean
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: that you're asking him to do different things. It's I'm
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: asking a smaller guy to feel. Yeah, but maybe now
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: you say, now we can do different things, and let's
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: you know, no. But I'm just saying it doesn't require
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: a scheme change. I don't want them to say I
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: don't think that the way they play defense is all wrong. Yeah,
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: I think some of the personnel they used to do
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: it is a little bit antiquated. Yeah. Yeah, and so
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: I guess that's not really philosophically, that's not the exactly
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: the best word. But that what I mean is are
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: we going after our traditional linebackers? Are we going after
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: the speedier guy? I don't, I don't know. My guess
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: is they're going traditional. What do you think of Darien Beavers?
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: Because I think he is traditional? That's the traditional that Yeah,
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: I came, you know, it's wait, what are you doing?
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: He's this year's I went up there. Yet it's still genuine.
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: I know, I started dipping my tone in it, but
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: that's one player that popped out to me as the traditional.
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: I gonna be honest. The reason why I know who
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: d anything about d George's on TV every game? I
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: mean like I watched him every week. Yeah, thanks, John,
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: appreciate the call. It's a good question that he don't
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: it's an opportunity this year. The answer, yeah, because they don't.
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: They have a lot of free agents and guys, I
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: mean it's it's an if they wanted to blow it
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: up and start over and re establish what they do,
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: they could do it this year. And I think that's
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: the heart of that call, is right, do they not
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: mismatching parts? Like it's not, well, we're gonna keep High
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: Tower and Bentley and then we got to try to
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: fit into Kobe Dean. It's probably an opportunity to say
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: we're gonna go with the different skill set at that
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: position and see how it goes. Let's go to Mike
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: and Puerto Rico. Hey, Mike, Hey, guys, A long time
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: first time, Yeah, a long time listener, first time embarrassed.
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: Oh okay, get it because you had us a little
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: bit because we know you've called many times before, but
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: I get it now, first time embarrassed. All right, Yeah,
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: is there any other words to describers? Sorry to be
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: so delayed on my response on it, but it's the
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: first opportunity you've gotten to call, and it really was,
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: That's what Jevin mccordy said. Embarrassed. Yeah, I actually willing
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: to propose a moratorium on calling Bill Belsick and the
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: Prisoner genius, considering it's the first time ever Wow actually
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: had perfect game. Wow? Right? Okay, Well, I mean, you know,
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: was every painting van Go painted a masterpiece? He was? No? Okay,
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: I mean something. If you don't like I thought you
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: would say none of it. I have art questions. I
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: go to you. Art's pretty subjective, but no, no you can't.
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: I think, no, it's not one. I think he's earned
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: his stripes. I don't think. Yeah, I don't know. Do
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: you want to do? You want to get rid of him?
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: But that doesn't mean he shouldn't be criticized and and
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: you know, admittedly needs to get better. I just think
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: I just think the genius thing is stupid. I've always
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: thought it's stupid. His own father said. His own father
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: said to him, genius, you walk up and down a sideline.
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: That's those were the words of his own father. But
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: it's just it's, you know, I don't think that there's
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: a genius on the level that every year this person
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: is able to put together a football team that just dominates,
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: Like it just sets like an unrealistic expectation of he's
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: he's an amazing football coach, but it's hard for I
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: mean to do. There's going to be ups and downs,
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: Like I mean, can you be a genius at football?
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: I mean yeah, it's part, but there's so much involved
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: in getting players to perform, and you know, I mean, yeah, yeah,
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: sure he can drop a genius game play. That's kind
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: of the point. It's like so much is out of
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: your hands, Like you're relying on fifty three different guys
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: with different personalities to do it. And unless they do it,
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: I don't care how smart you are, it ain't gonna work,
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: you know, right well, but then again, if that's fine,
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: But my point on this is there's never been a
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: perfect offensive output. At least that's what all the reading
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: it says and the stuff from social media whatever, like
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: there's never big and good as a historical buff and
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: you know, like he's really into the rectors, the shoe rectors,
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: and you know, the flowty drop kick and all that
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: other stuff. His name will forever be laid to the
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: only that has ever given up in a perfect offensive game.
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: I think you're in the moment, the moment that I'm
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: gonna tell you here from now, it's gonna be completely
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: forgotten and I'm gonna and I'm gonna tell you and
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: I say this, I'm very consistent with these. I don't
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: care about Essay I d s. I don't think that
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: will even be in his now, in his bio. I
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: think you're I think you're you're in the moment, Mike,
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: and I get it. It hurts right now. I don't
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: even think it's an open wound. But it's it's gonna
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: be lost in history, that little factoid, Yeah, will not
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: even be in the top ten worst things that you
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: list about Bill Belichea, Like I'm serious, Like right behind
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: the Brown's tenure um, the the press conference with the Jets,
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: the corpse of Stephen Jackson, Uh, you know, the scandals
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: that he was involved. Like, it's not even gonna be
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: Malcolm Butler. It won't even be mentioned, right, Like it
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: was a horrific playoff performance in twenty twenty one, nothing more,
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: nothing less, worst ever, That's the thing. It wasn't. It
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: wasn't horrific. It was the worst ever. I don't know.
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: I kind of thought the sixty three that that Miami
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: gave up to Jacksonville was pretty bad too. Does anybody
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: remember that but was it a perfect Nobody nobody cares
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: about sixty three. Nobody's paying attention to that, cares like,
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: I mean, there's been game, there's been a million games
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: with teams haven't punted. Yeah, like, who cares that they
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: happened to score touchdowns? I remember, um the year that
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: the Colts came in here, they came it was a game,
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: they came off a game when which they right, they
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: hadn't punted. Yeah, so it's I get it, Mike. It's
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: it hurts now, but it's gonna get better. It'll get better.
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: And I hear you guys were talking about the Overton
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: rules and maybe some possible options to that and granted
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: more on the entertaining and light hearted side. But rather
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: than talking a coin, maybe either have the quarterbacks flow
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: into an accuracy compen. All right, so we're gonna make
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: it a circus? Yeah, I mean, this is where I'm with, Paul.
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: Can we just play football? Can we just continue continue
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: to play football? This is another great fellow go rant,
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: thanks Mike. And it'll get better. I promise that, you know,
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: and they would talk because they've been doing it. Because
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: if we wanted to just like cast the checks and
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: check our brains to the door. We could do four hours,
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: oh yeah, five days a week for months on FACCTO
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: overtime because they just call and one is more ludicrous
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: than the next. It's like it's not a game of checkers.
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: N I heard a guy called in the other yesterday,
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: I think, and suggested that instead of playing the overtime,
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: it goes to the stats, whoever had the most total
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: yards wins Like these are the things that we're doing
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: overthinking it. Yeah, just play the game. Just play, play
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: the game till somebody scores more. And I'm really that
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: they're gonna come up with something new that's gonna have
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: all these and then but if you know all those
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: dens and but ifs and and you have to change
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: anything for the regular season, I think you just want
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: to change it for the playoffs. And I think it's
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: very simple. Just play another quarter and make it timed.
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: Fifteen minutes timed, right, that's it. And if it's not decided,
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: then then you do it. I mean, like, you know,
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: you can't go all night, you can't do what the
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: NHL does. Uh over to Eldred and North Carolina. Hey, Eldred,
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: he fell. That's how y'all doing today? Good? Hey, I'm sorry,
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: I mean training, but truck training. I'm torn, yea, I
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: thought you were. Are you training a license driver? I'm
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: a licensed driver, but I'm training for another position. And
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: at least i'd be home on the weekend and I
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: gonna watch my favorite nice But yeah, but what I'm
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: torn between Stingleys and of late first round pick because
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: they go with deef the tackle. I'm just gonna go
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: through the roof again. Yeah, you know, because I don't
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: think they'll go to defensive tackle. I don't think so.
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: I think many of the mock draft they pick in,
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: you know. And then I don't like the other guy.
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: I like him inside linebackers, but I don't think Bill
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: will go for that. But Stingley is a big press
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: sixth one press corners, got some speed that can cover.
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: Good player. I love Williamson. I don't think you'll be
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: around at twe Yeah, yeah, because both of those to
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: be around about twenty one. It did if you get it.
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: But I just like I said, Jem, I don't like him.
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: I know you get mad at me about seeing the
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: dude can't help it, coach. I love him to death.
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: GM I got problems with you know, check with me
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: and April. I'll tell you who they should track. I've
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: just said for fifteen years, when I'm still living off
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: that Justin Jefferson, I gotta get him the nod. Weren't
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: a lot of people talking about Justin jeff Robbie Gould.
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: You said to we have to have a draft, Robbie Google.
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: I think they didn't. I identified him as what great
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: kicker's got a strong leg quickness? That was Shane is
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: a question? Yeah, sense this draft would be. I wouldn't
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: be mad as long as in a free agency he
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: picked up a wide receiver. Yeah, what did they do
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: before that? Yeah, doubt I wouldn't. I wouldn't be mad
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: at all. I think they need a number one wide receiver.
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: But I understand they probably feel like they have limitations
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: on offense regardless, and they need a lot of help
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: on defense. Yeah, and they only have six picks right now,
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: So whatever they do, they know what they're doing. Yeah.
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: I hope all right, thanks Al, just we can all
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: go to bed at night with the knowledge that whoever
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: they pick will be the right course. Of course, Fred
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: will tell us Richard Santa Cruz, right, Sin thanks so
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: much for all you do. The Bill's loss was the
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: first time I remember ever having been simply unable to watch.
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: I live in California. Now cool story, Haskell, and I
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: have to watch the games on game passed. So I
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: watched the second half while listening to the postgame show
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: and grieved and watched at the same time, the only
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: way I could do it. One question that it's always
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: perplexed me. Why is it so rare for professional punters
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: to actually kick the ball so it goes out of
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: bounds between the ten and the end zone. I mean,
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: they're the best in the world at this right. They
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: used to do that. That used to be everybody don't
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: want to do that anymore. And why because they want
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: to give the coverage unit a chance to make a
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: play on the ball um inside the like they get
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: greedy number one want to turn it over the Yeah,
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: they also want to see if they can get a
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: guy to make a bad decision with the ball on
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: that and the other thing that like, and that's from Belichick.
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: I think what changed a lot of punting philosophy. Is
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: this the new technique that allows the ball to stand
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: up instead of going forward, like and that changed everything.
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: I thought, like that sort of Australian rules football time
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: kick differently on plus fifty punts, right, and they do
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: from their own train the traditional the traditional punt. Yeah,
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: they hold it straight out and it sort of spirals
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: and it's perfect. But yeah, they sort of like the
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: Australian rules kind of rugby type thingyd. Instead of bouncing forward,
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: it bounces up or backwards. That's a technique thing that
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: these guys have masters. Yeah, and you'll see there there
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: have been times they still go to the sidelines and
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: they're trying to avoid returns and what if they if
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: their coverage units are struggling or the other guy is
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: really good. Yeah, but I know Bill has said that
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: like whatever, I think someone asked them, whatever happened at
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: the coffin corner. Yeah, you don't really see it anymore.
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: And that was how we explained this was a long
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: time ago. We're going back fifteen years. Yeah, sure, Just
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: they want to give teams a chance to make a play,
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: and they also want to give the other team a
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: chance to make a bad play. Right Sean in Pedaluma, California, No,
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: not awhere that Pedaluma never heard of it really I've
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: heard of it. It's a big you can pedal um
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: or pet a kitten whatever. Guys. I have a peculiar
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: theory I've been floating for the past five years or so,
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: and it's right in Mike's wheelhouse. The theory is this,
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: anytime a player wears a jersey in which the handwarmer
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: is sewn into the jersey, their team's chances of losing
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: go way up. It's not, but teams with sewn in
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: handwarmers always seem to lose, especially in big games. The
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: Ravens often wear them, and Lamar Jackson seems to flop
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: in big games with one. When Josh Allen came out
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: wearing one on Sunday, I knew they were doomed. I
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: just knew Patrick Mahomes would lead them to a comeback
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: with thirteen seconds left as long as Josh Allen was
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: on the other sideline with a sewn in handwarmer in
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: his jersey. So if it's sewn in, it's bad. But
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: if it's just war that was Those were huge. I
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: remember when I was little, I'm watching the games. I
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: thought it was so cool they had them right in
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: their univers Brian site. Somebody sewed something kangaroo you get
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: that pocket. I thought those were so cool to go
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: right in. I wanted one of those. I wanted the
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: neck roll. That's what That's what I like. Now. That
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: was my eighties. Oh I started freshman football. I'm like,
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: I gotta get a like I'm like the only freshman,
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: and then I got a stupid, you know, neck roll
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: on like I'm hitting anybody, all right, do you have
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: any kind of impact you have a neck injury? No,
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: look tough. I'm anticipating one though, And he had one,
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: and are you kidding me? Yeah? Oh Andy had one,
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: and he probably used different iterations I had, Like I
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: had like game expected to be like the big foam
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: one first, but then when I then then I got
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: just the collar one, you know, the caller One's the
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: black one that goes inside and just kind of sticks out.
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: And he had one. Remember back and when we used
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: to player, at least when I you had the padded hand,
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: Oh yeah, the fingers out, you know, and he'd probably
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: like put ketchup in there to make it look like
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: it was bloody or something. You know. I loved it.
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: I taped my fingers too. I was like, Wow, this
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: is actually I can see why you tape your fingers.
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: Oh yeah, he would do all that stuff. I didn't.
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: I did too. I did too. Me and Andy were
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: more alike, probably than the fullbacks. It's all about the
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: like the Brian Cox one. Remember the Brian Cox up,
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: the straight up one. I mean, could go on. I
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: think Grogan wore a version of all of them. You're right,
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: and he had to. Yeah, he actually needed I'm like, yeah,
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: it's like I just want to look cool. Let's see
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: who's this? I don't know. Underrated move of the offseason
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: is Elliott Wolf staying in New England. It's a huge
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: boost to the draft room and it showed with their
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: selections last year. It's been needed for a while, but
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: having those fresh and new wise to evaluate the draft
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: for New England will pay off with the draft again
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: this year. I think you'll see improvements with the second
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: the fourth round selections from here on out. How do
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: you know Eliot Wolf had anything to do with those pots?
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: We don't. I guess I did. I guess he didn't
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: really have much of a voice in two thousand. Oh no,
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: is he here and this is third year? Won't this
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: be his third year? Wolf. Yeah. No, Well, I mean
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: you couldn't. Maybe I thought it was. I thought it
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: was his third year, but maybe I'm wrong. I mean
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: you could make the as he's been here longer, he's
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: had more. He didn't really go outside the box, as
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: I've said many times by taking those two Alabama guys.
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: And to that end, Efron from Hollywood, California, Ron Zimbolist Junior.
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: If you know Hollywood, I do, He says. The New
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: England Patriots had a great draft last year, which was
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: a major upgrade from prior drafts. What change? Which individuals
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: should be given credit for the turnaround? What changed is
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: they needed a quarterback and got one with the fifteenth pick. Yeah,
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: Mac Jones started from day one and won ten games.
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: That's why you draft was so good. Well, Barmore, I
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: think was a good pick. I think Stevenson was a
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: good pick. Yeah, you got three. If you get three
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: picks in the draft, that's a good draft. But take
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: Mac Jones out and what is it? I don't know
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: who they pick instead of it? But well, let's put
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: a Isaiah Win. Let's do what they've been doing. Yeah, no,
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: but that's not fair. But no, it's not fair. No it.
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: What I'm saying is, first of all, they had the
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: highest rated draft and this was a thing I read
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: on ESPN plus. Okay, and I think it's it's warranted.
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: I think it's valid. I mean, I think when you
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: get a starting quarterback who plays from day one, your
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: draft deserves to be ranked number one. But it's number
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: one because of that, not because of Barmore in Stevenson,
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: and I mean it just is yeah, but probably still
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: pretty solid with Barmore at least. I mean, I you know,
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: I get augments, but augments it, but that's an important
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: kind of player only, draft only trade they made very physical. Second,
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: I just think the draft is huge this year. I'm
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: really excited for it. I know that probably surprises everybody
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: secon I'm excited for something. Elliot Wolf was. This was
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: his second year into so it makes sense that now
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: he's a little bit more comfortable and has maybe maybe
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: so this will be the draft. Then the second this
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: is he'll have his fingerprints on. This will third draft, right,
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: so this is the one we can expect the yellow
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: Wolf Draft. I don't know why you have to be
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: so snarky just being I'm just I don't know, but
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: I mean not just but I know everybody wants to
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: embrace it because they had a good draft last year?
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: Why can't build get This is where I'm gonna actually
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: depend Bill, all Right. It usually works the opposite for Bill.
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: Usually he gets credit for things when they go well
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: and blame for things I mean and ignored when they don't.
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: But you're a fan, he's the guy who's in charge. Okay,
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: but if you blame him for the bad draft, you
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: got to give him credit for a good Fine, he
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: gets the credit for last time. But whatever the reason,
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: we do admit that over the last five years or so,
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: they've had pretty crappy drafts. Yes, they've so I'm giving
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: him credit. Okay, So this one right, so things got
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: a little better. You also factor in Robert Crafts uh
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: comments in the offseason that we need to be more collaborative.
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: Fans hear that and they're wondering, what does that mean?
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: Did they become more collaborative? Yeah, I'm just gonna continue
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: to say Bill's in charge. I actual much like when
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: the defense falls apart, you know, to Mike and Puerto
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: Rico's point, I think that's at the feet of Bill Belichick. No,
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: one else. All right, I know you want to and
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: I give Bill credit for I know you want to
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: be a Bill Tody and that's fine. That's fine, list
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: and I am too. But I I could show you
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: that the sound drops of me saying he's a very
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: very good drafter. I know. But even if you even
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: if you want to say, give Bill credit for being
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: more collaborative, okay, just started randomly talking talking about Bill.
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: You know, if even if you want to give Bill
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: the credit for being more collaborative, that's fine, But what
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: does that collaboration look like? What was that? Was that
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: Elliott for Dave Z having more of a look? That's
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: that's all the that's all the emailers wondering what do
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: we you know, what do we owe to that collab?
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: You know, that improvement and or collaboration? We'll never know.
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: But I thought thought, I thought his email was that
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: all it's a boon that the hatreds chipan Elliott Wolf
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: because well that's what he's thinking. Yeah, but we don't
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: know that, right, And that's the next that's the next.
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: That's why I followed it up with the next emailer,
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: who said, what do to what do we owe that improvement?
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: We'll never know, because I'll never tell us. The answer
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: to the question is mac Jones, like, that's why you
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: feel like you've improved so much. I don't, Okay, I
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: don't buy the collaborative. I think Bill's in charge. He's
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: the guy I agree blame him when it goes back.
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: You can still be in charge and be more collaborative. Sure,
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: you can still be in charge. Yeah, if sure, I
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: don't think that that's the case. I don't think that happened. Oh,
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: all right, that's fine. None of us know. And again,
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: Deuce will just sit in the side and he will
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: not say anything. We don't just make faces and will
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: not say we don't know, and we'll never know. He does.
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: That thing is I think Bill has always had guys
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: that go out and do all of this work, and
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: then they go to him and they all talk about it,
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: and Bill makes the decision. Yeah, and I think they
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: did that last year too. But did he listen to
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: them more and make the decision? You know, I think
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: he's always listened to them. I don't think he listened
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: to them more. The only word I would disagree with
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: is the I get it, And that may be the case.
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: I just know. I know because I hear people talking.
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: They remember what Kraft said about maybe we need to
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: be a little bit more collaborative, and they wonder if
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: that happened. That's all. Yeah, I think it's great to wonder.
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: I mean, I think with this draft, though, it always
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: stood out to me was just that they didn't take
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: any of those random who like everything made sense to
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: Paul's point, Alabama quarterback Mac Jones, that that's what they did.
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: It wasn't like, Wow, they really went off the beaten
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: path this time and really found some gems. Like it was,
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: they did what they kind of were supposed to do
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: usually instead of taking like a random second round safety
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: that no one had ever heard of. It. Well, I
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: but pick but are you okay with that pick? Which one? Rhyan?
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: But the random second round safe that I was just
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: gonna say that. I was just hold on, now, this
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: is where I'm gonna push back on you dudes. Yeah,
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: he wasn't a random second round pick. Everybody had him
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: pegged for being. I wasn't. I mean, like he was
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: on a lot. I didn't mean when I was saying
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: I was, I was using that as a general example
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: of like Tavan Wilson and you know those guys. I mean,
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: I wasn't calling out Kyle Dugger, who I like, Yeah,
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: And I don't think that that was an outlier. And
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: I do think that that draft was okay. Um, but
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: you know, I just don't think that they went that
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: far off the beaten path that you need to think
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: that all of a sudden somebody came in and was like, wow,
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: we gotta redo everything we do. Let's take the guy
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: from Alabama. And everyone thinks it's a great hit for here.
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: And I know, like, listen, I am absolutely guilty of
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: the snark. I mean, I'm not, but I do think
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: snark aside. I think it's all different when you have
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: a quarterback. I mean, obviously Josh McDaniels had a lot
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: to do with drafting Mac Jones, right. I mean, we
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: don't know, but I can't reasonable minds assume that the
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: offensive coordinator had something to do with which quarterbacks they
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: were going to try to They were going to try
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: to take a quarterback at some point, right they were
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: going to try to take one. They had an opportunity
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: to take one, and I'm sure that that Josh was
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: involved in that. But that's where I think this is
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: all about Like, I think you could just as easily
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: have not taken him because he was gone, and you
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: wouldn't look at the draft the same way. Well, no,
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: I disagree with that, Poul. What if it was Waddle
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: that was the guy that it was available, and they
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: took him, and then they took Barmore and Stevenson, you'd
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: still have three of your top guys right contributing. Yeah,
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: but you questions, right, I know, but you would you
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: would recognize Waddles good. He's going to be good again Alabama, Okay,
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: Like that's what they do. Like, I don't really see
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: any I'm with Deuce on this. I don't see any
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: departure from I didn't see like a oh, Chiefs. They
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: used to go for these guys that you know, no
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: one ever heard of. Yeah, they've made some some questionable picks.
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: Everybody does. And Tavon Wilson was one of those guys
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: that everybody was Like a lot of people didn't even
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: have him going in the draft at all, and they
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: took him in the second round. There's not a lot
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: of those. Yeah, no, I listen, I'm I'm with you.
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: I'm just I know what people are thinking, and they
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: heard that collaboration and then you know, all of a sudden,
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: Elliott Wolf and Dave Ziegler are on everybody's you know,
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: interview list, and people connected. A lot of people thought
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: they were going to take the kid from Tulsa. Yeah Collins, Yeah, right,
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: and Collins, that's the Beavers guy this year who hasn't
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: had he didn't have a tremendous rookie year. Right. I
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: think he's okay. So but if you took him, he
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: still needs your small, fast linebacker or you know, you
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: know what they complain about right now, If they took him,
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: they would say they needed to be more of a collaborative.
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: They need to get different voices in that room because
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: Bill can't do this anymore. Yeah, that's it just didn't
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: feel it just didn't feel overthought. And I think some
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: of the drafts in the past felt overthought and you know,
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: trying to find a gem here that no one else
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: really knows, and you know, this is one they just
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: played to their strengths. They what do you need? Go
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: get the guys trying to think the guy that was hurt,
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: who was a little bit undervalued because of them. But
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: I think I think I think that's a great word
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: that Mike uses because I think they're often guilty of overthinking.
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: But I think it's in terms of them moving around. Yeah, right,
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: and that's the one true you know, bar more. Otherwise,
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: who we got, this is what we need? Who's the
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: best that maybe maybe you know what, again, reasonable minds
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: can can come together. Maybe that's where you guys are
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: right and I'm wrong. Maybe there was a little bit more.
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: Hey Bill, let's just pick, just pick the guys. Maybe
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: they got that. Let's let's not try to steal the
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: draft every year. Let's just pick some good places. Yeah,
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: when we're available. Maybe that's a collaborative could be that
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: worked out for them. And I don't I don't want it.
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: I don't want it to be even let Ernie Adams
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: pick treit Nicks, right, But I don't want it to
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: come off as as as anything being blamed on Nick Assario.
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: But I think that that's a dynamic that left and
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: you know, so it's it's just how was that? How
- 1:34:18Speaker 1: did that shift things a little bit too? I mean,
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: it's just all we don't know exactly how how the
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: ingredients all come out. You don't and I just hope
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: they do the same thing. I wish we could. I
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: wish like we could like who knows like Cassario lifts
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: leaves and then Bill realizes, you know what, I can't
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: lean on him as much. It's not a two man
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: deal anymore. Maybe I need to listen, you know who
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: knows him? Course a little bit. I mean, we all
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: know how involved Nick Assario was, and you know, I
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: think you look at some of the players that he
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: took down in Houston in it, you know, those are
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: some Patriots type guys or you know, I can't recall
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: off the top of I mean, obviously Davis Mills was one,
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: but they didn't have a lot of picks. Yeah, but
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: I wish they had. They had a small class. But
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: I think we all you know, and there's I know
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: there's people now going around like, well what if you
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: didn't take Mac Jones. You look Davis Mills here, and
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: you know, trying to work that whole thing. But I
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: just I don't know how it all came together. But
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: I do think that this draft is just hugely, hugely,
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: hugely important to the future of where they're going, and
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: they need to be this coming on just yeah, just
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: as good and just as good and and hopefully it's
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: the same kind of thing where we see that same
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: all right, we know they need position, they need cornerbacks,
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: they need cornerbacks. They take a corner you know, they
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: take the top round cornerback at twenty one, Like all right,
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: there you go. Um, just things like that. That that
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: that seemed to make sense on the surface. But we'll see,
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: we'll see. It's a it's gonna be this is gonna
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: be fun. And I said, like I was joking, like,
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: you know, everyone's gonna be surprised that I feel a
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: little bit reinvigorated for the draft. But I just don't
- 1:35:43Speaker 1: think that free agency is gonna be the thrill ride
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: that it was last year. I think it's gonna be
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: working like, it's gonna be moving money around. It's not
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: gonna be sexy. But I think when then, when you
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: get to the draft and as Eric said, you got
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: six picks, like you got two, two or three, gotta
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: step in. They have to contribute. I'll tell you what
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: my fear is. Mike gets excited. I get worried, because
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: that's generally how the two of us are, right, Mike
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: is an excited guy and I'm I'm a New England.
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: He gets excited, then he's get completely deflated. That's maybe.
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: I worry about that, those six picks, and if he
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: says it's not enough, we gotta trade down. We gotta
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: do something about that. Your tongue young, we gotta do
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: something about that and make a couple of trades to
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: end up with eight or nine picks, and that would
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: not be good. To stop it because I'm with you, Paul.
- 1:36:34Speaker 1: I think they need quality and I think that's what
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: this draft like. You can win the draft with three guys.
- 1:36:38Speaker 1: They won the draft with three guys and and they
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: you're probably taken, but no, But I think you're absolutely right.
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: They had three really good picks, quality guys. That step
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: That makes a great draft. You get three really good players.
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: That's a great draft. As Jim Valvano would say, that's
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: a great day. You were moved to thought and he
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: had your emotions. That's a great day. Cried you beat
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: the crap out of somebody. What was it, I don't remember. Yeah,
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: Max from Santiago de Chile, Santiago, Chile. Yeah. Reality and
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: evidence point to focusing on the Patriots building a strong
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: defense this offseason. All else should take a back seat. However,
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: the lack of playmaker ability at wide receivers should not
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: be relegated to an afterthought this offseason. In my opinion,
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: what the Patriots need is another Julian Edelman type receiver,
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: not an ex receiver. This alone will create space and
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: opportunities for the likes of Henry Bourne and perhaps a Galore.
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: It also fits into what Mac is best at as
- 1:37:34Speaker 1: a quarterback. What have we've seen about that part? What
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: do we have to base that on? What do you
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: mean that that fits Max's skill set the most? I
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: think you just means short accuracy, you know short as
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: we see that, the short, quick, accurate throws like that's
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: the throw he makes best. Because I think the best
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: the best guy you through to was Myers, and that's
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: not that man. That's a that's that's a good zag question.
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: I think that's a good zag question to consider. But
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: I think overall, an accurate, smart quarterback knows where the
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: ball goes. And those are kind of the guys that
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: he played with a little bit right like that at
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: Alabama that get the ball out, let them do the work.
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: I don't know in theory, those guys were so fast
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: too and so open. Yeah, and I mean I would
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: love to have both. Can I be greedy and say
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: I'd like the the Edelman type or Welker type over
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: I don't care what the skill I don't I don't
- 1:38:31Speaker 1: care what the position is. I think they need the
- 1:38:33Speaker 1: skill set like they need a dynamic player. Of course,
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: I like every team that was left last weekend had
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: at least any team that had Wes Welker, Julian Edelman
- 1:38:44Speaker 1: Troy Brown in their prime would be better. I don't
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: think that's the number one thing lacking from the Patriots.
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: They need a guy who can take a short throw
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: and make a big play. They need a guy who
- 1:38:56Speaker 1: can go downfield and make a big play on a
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: long throw. They don't have that. I don't care if
- 1:39:01Speaker 1: it's an X y Z, I don't really care what
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: position it is. They need a dynamic presence at the
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: position that they don't have. And to Eric's point, how
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: many times should you see it over the weekend? In
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: those four games and the only game that didn't really
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: feature any of those kinds of plays was the Packers
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: Niners game, which was a slugfest. The other games had
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: because Rogers refused to throw to anybody, flips to Jamar
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: Chase in the flat, Mikole Hardman catching one Tyreek Hill
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: with the game on the line. Bang, I mean, forget
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: about Gabriel Davis. Ye like they don't. The Patriots don't
- 1:39:40Speaker 1: have those kinds of guys, and I don't care. I mean,
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: if it's a slot guy, because that's what the Patriots
- 1:39:45Speaker 1: of Gravitata toward. I'm all on board with the emailer.
- 1:39:48Speaker 1: I think that they could use a slot guy. I
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: don't know the only part that I would say. I
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: don't know about his Mac. I don't know. And Mac
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: wants this, that or the other thing. I don't know
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: what he thinks. It'd be interesting to hear what he says.
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: I'm most comfortable throw. And I also think those quarterbacks
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: make those guys better. I mean, when when when you
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: have a guy either one of them, that can run
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: out of the pocket and hit guys from any angle,
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: it makes it so hard to cover these guys. You know,
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: it's it's you. I was just gonna say, I, you know,
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: agree with everything you said and how you laid it out.
- 1:40:20Speaker 1: And then I think about how I felt when they
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: selected to kill Harry, and I felt like, I don't
- 1:40:25Speaker 1: get it. You know, everything you said made sense. He's
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: none of those things. That's you know, and that's goes
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: back to these drafts. I think because of that, people
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: say I don't want that X receiver. I don't want that.
- 1:40:37Speaker 1: They didn't get the right one. Aaron Dobson wasn't the
- 1:40:39Speaker 1: right one. Nikkil Harry wasn't the right one. But you
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: can get guys that play outside that can make plays
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: that like like friends guy Justin Jefferson, like, you can
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: get guys that play in space, you know, outside and
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: can make space for themselves. We just don't. We just
- 1:40:55Speaker 1: haven't done it. Ye Wan and Monterey Mexico. I believe
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: that Bill went with players from programs he trusts and
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: picked players with don't talent but probably a lower ceiling
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: excluding Barnmore, comparing to other years where he went for
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: projects with a possible higher ceiling but lower floors like
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: Wilson and Dawson. Yeah. I mean there's examples of everything
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: you know, right, and Wilson was drafted what twelve years ago,
- 1:41:20Speaker 1: Eugene Wilson, Oh, I think always talking about TV, Jean
- 1:41:24Speaker 1: Wilson was drafted where he was supposed to be. Davon
- 1:41:27Speaker 1: Wilson's the one that really stands out like that that
- 1:41:31Speaker 1: I remember there was like York kinds of guys, the
- 1:41:34Speaker 1: ar lads and those kinds of publications. They didn't even
- 1:41:37Speaker 1: have him. One of my best drafting who it was?
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: It was this Mike. I was apple plegic, your page
- 1:41:45Speaker 1: is turning. I mean we're just flipping over, like not
- 1:41:49Speaker 1: not not a third round, a lot of fourth round
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: in bed. We couldn't find it. He went he went crazy.
- 1:41:55Speaker 1: Eric went crazy. The only time he's ever really that
- 1:41:57Speaker 1: in the Quarterback Great Draft Cincinnati when Cincinnati was with Burrow,
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: I'm like, what are they doing? They were taking like
- 1:42:03Speaker 1: the whole eight minutes. Actually though you didn't really like
- 1:42:06Speaker 1: mac All when you were on because I was like,
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: I wanted the quarterback. I just didn't want that quarterback.
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: And I'm like, I'm torn. But he did all right,
- 1:42:16Speaker 1: Howard in Stratford, Connecticut. I agree with Paul in that
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: BB is in charge and the buck stops with him
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: for good and bad drafts. That's said in any organization,
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: a CEO doesn't make decisions in a vacuum. That decisions
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: are made based on information that their team around them provides.
- 1:42:32Speaker 1: The one big change recently is Cassario leaving and what
- 1:42:36Speaker 1: appears to be a more collaborative team effort in providing
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: information to Belichick to make his decisions. Question is was
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: Casario what is considered a bottleneck a person who filters
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: information upwards to the decision maker. If so, then Belichick
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: is making decisions based on flawed or filtered information. Perhaps
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: now all the information is getting to Bill and he
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: is making more informed decisions because all the information is
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: getting to him. Just a thought. The dynamic has changed.
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: What exactly that means is up for speculation. But the
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: new process initially looks positive. Let's see where it goes
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: over the next few drafts. It's interesting, it sounds like
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: business that's business school things. That sounds like things you
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: learn in business school. Bottleneck information, bottlenecking upwards. Yeah, I
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: don't have the information, so I can't really fight back
- 1:43:24Speaker 1: on that stuff. I don't I don't know if. Yeah,
- 1:43:27Speaker 1: And I just think it's very convenient that Casserio leaves
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: and you have a good draft, you know, like, And
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: that's why I didn't want to say. That's why I
- 1:43:33Speaker 1: didn't want to go down that road. But certainly the
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: process must have changed with how trusted Nick Kisserio was
- 1:43:39Speaker 1: and you know, how close they were and how involved
- 1:43:41Speaker 1: in everything he was. Maybe maybe it went the opposite way.
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: Maybe maybe because Casserio left, Bill felt like he had
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: to get more personally involved in the process. Yeah, that
- 1:43:51Speaker 1: could be too. Yeah, there you go, that could be too.
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: The whole other thing. Uh, Patty's an agoam on the
- 1:43:56Speaker 1: A sticket outline. What's up? Patty? Up? Guys. I had
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: a question about Josh, but before I before I get
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: to that, UM, two guys I would love to see
- 1:44:05Speaker 1: I named one of them before UM, but first round,
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: I would The guy that might be there for Corner
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: is Ki or Elam out of Florida. He's big, I
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: don't know, but he's He's that tough press man Corner
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: that that would probably fit well in the system. And Polly,
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: the guy that you were talking about, a guy that
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: gets open and short and medium and long distance and
- 1:44:33Speaker 1: has that that next level like twitch and quickness and speed.
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: Bill Robinson out of Kentucky, that's the guy. I want
- 1:44:42Speaker 1: to see them drafted. So it's probably not gonna happen. Yeah,
- 1:44:44Speaker 1: he's a good player. I've heard his name. I'm sor
- 1:44:46Speaker 1: him a couple of times. I've heard his name. Um yeah,
- 1:44:50Speaker 1: I mean I just like Elijah Moore that you know,
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: we really liked um out of all miss everywhere. He
- 1:44:58Speaker 1: was there. Now they got Barmore, So like, I'm not
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: like you. As long as you take a good player,
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: I don't mind you miss another good player. You can't
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: get all the good players. So they got Barmore. They
- 1:45:09Speaker 1: traded up for Barmore and they got him, and I
- 1:45:11Speaker 1: think everybody's happy with that. But that was a guy,
- 1:45:14Speaker 1: and that's where I'm looking. Second, third round, give me
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: an athletic receiver that can make plays. They are available.
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: This is like four or five drafts in a row
- 1:45:23Speaker 1: with those kinds of guys have gotten taken. And I'm
- 1:45:26Speaker 1: not talking one guy. Emin Ron Brown is another one
- 1:45:29Speaker 1: who kind of came on a little bit for Detroit. Yeah,
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: we talked about I I you know, to go back
- 1:45:33Speaker 1: to your first point though, is press man corner the
- 1:45:37Speaker 1: prototype still? Is that still what they want to do?
- 1:45:39Speaker 1: That's a question. Started to move to zone this year
- 1:45:41Speaker 1: a little bit more. Did I want to? I mean,
- 1:45:44Speaker 1: I don't think that they couldn't play. Yeah, they probably couldn't,
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: you know, but I'd be curised philosophically with these mobile quarterbacks.
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: Do you want to can you play that much man
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: and you're locked with a guy and you're running down
- 1:45:54Speaker 1: the field, or is it Hey, let's look more on
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: guys that are super physical and smart in zone. I
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: don't know, I'm just I think that that's also part
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: of the philosophical discussion of where they're headed on They're
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: trying to pay attention to where the quarterback is. Well,
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know, you're not to go one
- 1:46:10Speaker 1: way or the other, but it's hard to play full
- 1:46:13Speaker 1: man against really mobile quarterbacks. Thanks Patty. But that's a
- 1:46:18Speaker 1: good point that Mike mad because you know, we've we've
- 1:46:21Speaker 1: often said they want to play that way, but this
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: year the second half of the season, certainly they didn't.
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: And it's the same thing as linebacker, where they have
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: an opportunity right now if they want blow it up
- 1:46:30Speaker 1: and do what they do, what they want going in
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: the direction that they But I just feel like if
- 1:46:34Speaker 1: you have if you have a good physical press man
- 1:46:38Speaker 1: corner and you don't want to play press man, that's fine,
- 1:46:40Speaker 1: I know, right but if you have you know, sort
- 1:46:43Speaker 1: of you know, smaller slower corners that aren't as physical
- 1:46:47Speaker 1: but don't like to play press. Now you're stuck because
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: they can only do one thing. I feel like the
- 1:46:51Speaker 1: physical guy can play both ways. Yeah, you're You're definitely right.
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: And I think if a guy can play physical man, like,
- 1:46:57Speaker 1: if he's a physical man press corner, he can, he
- 1:46:59Speaker 1: can play cornerback. He looks lost in that he can run.
- 1:47:03Speaker 1: Some guys like, you know, I think Jowan Williams looks
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: to me like all he can do is physically beat
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: beat up to receive U Rozzie in Los Angeles. Looking
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: back at the season, having a rookie quarterback take the
- 1:47:18Speaker 1: Patriots to the postseason and a seven game win streak
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: should make me feel great about the season, But the
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: way they finished made me realize they aren't just max
- 1:47:27Speaker 1: progression away from being a contender. Instead, they are a
- 1:47:30Speaker 1: multi year defensive rebuild from challenging the top teams. So
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: I find it hard to think of this season as
- 1:47:36Speaker 1: a success. Looking forward to next year, there are a
- 1:47:40Speaker 1: couple of teams in cap jail, Saints and Packers that
- 1:47:43Speaker 1: might have to trade some high profile players to give
- 1:47:46Speaker 1: themselves room to rebuild. Are there any players and these
- 1:47:49Speaker 1: rosters that the Patriots could potentially and realistically trade for it.
- 1:47:53Speaker 1: I'd like to get Michael Thomas. Yeah, yeah, he's good.
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: I think they're going to be limited this year. I
- 1:47:59Speaker 1: think I think the it's about the draft, and I
- 1:48:01Speaker 1: don't I'm not really trying to get my hopes up
- 1:48:04Speaker 1: that there's going to be big trades or you know,
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: huge free agency splash manager expectations. I just think this year,
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: maybe next year they get back into it. But that's
- 1:48:14Speaker 1: what happens when you're in a rebuild. You have to
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: go piece by piece. Some years you can be more aggressive,
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: some years you can. And also is what happens when
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: you so heavily invest in free agency and those contracts
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: become bigger right in year two. Yeah, that's by problem
- 1:48:28Speaker 1: In terms of what was the first part of that question?
- 1:48:32Speaker 1: You don't remember because you already deleted it. He got
- 1:48:34Speaker 1: into the cap jail stuff, which kind of got me up. Well,
- 1:48:37Speaker 1: some teams like the Saints and the Packers, no cap
- 1:48:40Speaker 1: jail whatever, ntill do whatever they want. Um there is
- 1:48:45Speaker 1: I mean Rogers, Rogers leaves Green Bay and they'll figure
- 1:48:48Speaker 1: out what they want to do. They're gonna be build. Yeah,
- 1:48:50Speaker 1: like it's not going to be like, oh, we're in
- 1:48:52Speaker 1: cap jail, so we can't win this year if Roger's leaves,
- 1:48:54Speaker 1: they're not gonna win. Well like for example, and I
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: don't know if this is true, but this is just
- 1:48:58Speaker 1: what I heard in Tennessee. Tannehill's contract is such that
- 1:49:01Speaker 1: they can't move on from him. Yeah, but why is
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: that cap jail? Because of all the money that the
- 1:49:07Speaker 1: money that they have the un the quarterback, they're not
- 1:49:09Speaker 1: going to move on from him. Well, he's their quarterback. Okay,
- 1:49:13Speaker 1: so I so no team moves on from a quarterback.
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: But but not now all right, this is too late
- 1:49:18Speaker 1: to get into this. I'm just saying, Paul, if they
- 1:49:21Speaker 1: if they want the Saints and the Packers of the
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: two teams that people were talking about, because they're over
- 1:49:26Speaker 1: the cap, I know, I understand, but that, but the
- 1:49:28Speaker 1: Titans are tied to now Tannehill because of his contract,
- 1:49:32Speaker 1: but they also want him to be their quarterback. Like
- 1:49:35Speaker 1: if he was like Jamis Winston the year he threw
- 1:49:39Speaker 1: thirty picks, now you're in trouble, okay, But he's not
- 1:49:42Speaker 1: that like they want him to be their quarterback, do they?
- 1:49:45Speaker 1: I don't know. Now they made a mistake in wanting
- 1:49:47Speaker 1: him over Brady. But you can't fix that mistake now,
- 1:49:51Speaker 1: not because of the cap, because you screwed it up.
- 1:49:55Speaker 1: You're Tannehill bad. You gotta line it right. But let's
- 1:49:57Speaker 1: say it like another word again. It's different argument, like
- 1:50:00Speaker 1: it's a talent miss value. But let's say let's say
- 1:50:03Speaker 1: Brady or Rogers wanted to go to Tennessee. They couldn't
- 1:50:06Speaker 1: do it. Oh yes they could. I don't know. Oh yes,
- 1:50:10Speaker 1: that's what I'm under. That's like it because you still
- 1:50:13Speaker 1: believe in Santa Claus. That's why you still believe that.
- 1:50:16Speaker 1: That's an I don't think they can pay Tannehill. And
- 1:50:19Speaker 1: I'm telling you they could figure it out. Okay, they
- 1:50:22Speaker 1: should figure it out. All right, let's see if they
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: do it. Um Oh, I forgot all about that ten minutes.
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: Oh yeah, well, we only have two games I have
- 1:50:37Speaker 1: to bring up. We got we got we got yeah,
- 1:50:39Speaker 1: read the last email. We got time? We got time? No, no, no,
- 1:50:42Speaker 1: we got time. I have a meeting it too. You
- 1:50:44Speaker 1: might have time, but I have worked ten minutes to
- 1:50:48Speaker 1: do two games all right, so five minutes a game?
- 1:50:51Speaker 1: All right, what and we have to do? What happened
- 1:50:53Speaker 1: last week? Call? It's that time of the week, thanks Matt.
- 1:51:01Speaker 1: All right, what do we got? Okay? Well, I can't
- 1:51:03Speaker 1: really confirm the numbers, but uh, this is what it
- 1:51:09Speaker 1: appears to me. Uh, Paul and Fred two and two,
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: Eric and Mike oh and four? Can confirm? How was
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: that possible? We picked all four wrong? Wow? You actually
- 1:51:23Speaker 1: went one and three. I was lying. Oh, I was
- 1:51:26Speaker 1: pretending that I was shorting you a win. Oh I know.
- 1:51:28Speaker 1: I wasn't here. I didn't have my shit in front
- 1:51:30Speaker 1: of me, so I just took your word for it.
- 1:51:32Speaker 1: According to this, do you pick the ROMs? I did
- 1:51:34Speaker 1: pick the ROMs? That's right, okay? So Eric went one
- 1:51:36Speaker 1: and three, Mike went and four. Cot than you. Just
- 1:51:39Speaker 1: as hard to do was going four and oh. I
- 1:51:41Speaker 1: might have gone on and four in the spread. Um
- 1:51:43Speaker 1: with the spread, or maybe I did better in the spread.
- 1:51:46Speaker 1: Paul and Fred were three and one, Eric was two
- 1:51:49Speaker 1: and four, Mike was one and three. I'm sorry two
- 1:51:52Speaker 1: and two. I wrote four. It's two and two. Um,
- 1:51:56Speaker 1: Unfortunately we got screwed. Freddie, I could I had a
- 1:52:00Speaker 1: mammoth week. Oh yeah, if not for those thirteen seconds, yeah,
- 1:52:04Speaker 1: that was a that was a crush it. I was
- 1:52:05Speaker 1: thirteen seconds away from going three and one and four
- 1:52:07Speaker 1: and oh would have put a whole different spin on
- 1:52:10Speaker 1: my week anyway. The totals for the playoffs Paul and
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: Fred seven and three, Mike and Eric five and five
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: with the spread Paul eight and two, Fred seven and three,
- 1:52:20Speaker 1: Mike and Eric four and six. See playoffs and win.
- 1:52:23Speaker 1: It's really thank you Fred, Thank you Fred. Spin doctors
- 1:52:29Speaker 1: over here all right, Um, let's we got a hurry.
- 1:52:32Speaker 1: So let's start with the first game on Sunday, three o'clock.
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: The Bengals at ten and seven? Why do they have
- 1:52:40Speaker 1: records here? Who cares? Bengals at the Chiefs the entrance?
- 1:52:43Speaker 1: Why are you reading them? Kansas City by seven seven? Yeah,
- 1:52:48Speaker 1: Now there's there's there's a lot of dark pool information
- 1:52:51Speaker 1: out there. What's that mean? Yeah, I've heard that that's
- 1:52:55Speaker 1: a new term, dark pool deadpool, No, dark pool information
- 1:52:59Speaker 1: is I've never heard the term and have no idea.
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: What web. Yeah, it's kind of like dark web, but
- 1:53:04Speaker 1: it's dark pool, like scuttle butt going on? What is it?
- 1:53:07Speaker 1: Is it that the just m no, I don't know
- 1:53:10Speaker 1: what it is. But I heard that, but we don't
- 1:53:13Speaker 1: know what Fred heard this information out there, didn't hear
- 1:53:17Speaker 1: what the information is. It's called what it means, It's
- 1:53:20Speaker 1: called dark pool information. I'm gonna I'm gonna piggyback off
- 1:53:23Speaker 1: that useful information. And I wish I could paying artificial
- 1:53:26Speaker 1: intelligence over here. I'm looking at it really dark pool. Hey,
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: I what does the AI? What does the does? What
- 1:53:32Speaker 1: does the uh? So? I wish I could pick Cincinnati,
- 1:53:36Speaker 1: but I just I think the Chiefs are are on,
- 1:53:38Speaker 1: They're ready, they clicked into gear. I'm gonna take Kansas City, unfortunately,
- 1:53:43Speaker 1: and I will u I will lay those points I
- 1:53:45Speaker 1: think though. I think it'll be a good game, but
- 1:53:47Speaker 1: I think a touchdown is about right. Okay. I'm going
- 1:53:49Speaker 1: to take the Chiefs to win as well, just because
- 1:53:51Speaker 1: I agree that that's gonna be a little too much
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: for the Bengals to overcome. Nice ride. I didn't realize
- 1:53:56Speaker 1: that was their first ever road playoff road playoff winning
- 1:53:59Speaker 1: franchise history. Wow. Mind boggling, but nice story bottled up
- 1:54:05Speaker 1: in your mind, yes, like bottled I'll take the Bengals
- 1:54:08Speaker 1: points though, I Hopefully they make it a competitive game,
- 1:54:11Speaker 1: make it a little exciting at the end. Yeah. I
- 1:54:15Speaker 1: also like Kansas City. I think the big thing for
- 1:54:17Speaker 1: this game to me is coaching difference. I thought that
- 1:54:20Speaker 1: Cincinnati last week was a much better team than Tennessee
- 1:54:23Speaker 1: and Mike Vrabel absolutely coached the pants off of that
- 1:54:26Speaker 1: chooch Zach Taylor. They never they never had an answer
- 1:54:31Speaker 1: for what the pressure that the Titans were given, and
- 1:54:34Speaker 1: they kept going empty and they just kept killing them
- 1:54:37Speaker 1: and reading a lot of stuff about it this week,
- 1:54:39Speaker 1: it was like there was just no adjustment made. I
- 1:54:41Speaker 1: think Andy Reid and his staff will figure out ways
- 1:54:43Speaker 1: to do that. I think they have a much better
- 1:54:45Speaker 1: coaching structure than Cincinnati, and I don't think Cincinnati will
- 1:54:49Speaker 1: be ready for this moment. Yeah, I don't think it's
- 1:54:51Speaker 1: going to be all that close. I agree, I think it,
- 1:54:54Speaker 1: you know, as the game goes on, I think the
- 1:54:56Speaker 1: Chiefs pull away. Yeah. My one fear with that pick
- 1:54:59Speaker 1: is that Kansas City is a little bit drained, worn
- 1:55:02Speaker 1: out from that after that game. But I think they
- 1:55:04Speaker 1: stick this so much. Yeah, me too, And I know
- 1:55:07Speaker 1: they just played what three weeks ago, full weeks ago,
- 1:55:09Speaker 1: and Sady beat him. So but that was in Sinci
- 1:55:12Speaker 1: Chiefs both ways. Um okay. So now six thirty Sunday evening,
- 1:55:17Speaker 1: forty nine ers at the Rams ROMs by three and
- 1:55:21Speaker 1: a half despite having lost the last six in a
- 1:55:23Speaker 1: row against the Noiner. Wow, that's an interesting stat I
- 1:55:26Speaker 1: didn't realize that. Um. Still, I gotta I'm gonna go
- 1:55:29Speaker 1: with the Rams. I just think they've got They've got
- 1:55:31Speaker 1: the horses. I think Jimmy g As we discussed a
- 1:55:33Speaker 1: little bit up and down and you know, not not
- 1:55:36Speaker 1: quite there as far as putting them over the top.
- 1:55:40Speaker 1: I like Matthew Stafford. Yeah, I think I'm gonna take
- 1:55:43Speaker 1: the Rams both ways as well. Um, I'd love Jimmy.
- 1:55:46Speaker 1: I'll be rooting for him, hope he does well. But
- 1:55:48Speaker 1: I just think the Rams in the end will be
- 1:55:50Speaker 1: too much. Yeah. I U. This is a tough one
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: because there's definitely something to the fact that the Niners
- 1:55:57Speaker 1: have a mastery over them. But I'm gonna take the
- 1:55:59Speaker 1: ram still win the game at home. I think they
- 1:56:02Speaker 1: just have too much offense. And now I'm gonna lay
- 1:56:04Speaker 1: the points because I think if it's a close game,
- 1:56:06Speaker 1: the Niners will win it. So I think the Rams
- 1:56:09Speaker 1: will win, and I'll say that they cover too. Why
- 1:56:11Speaker 1: do you think that if it's a close game, the
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: Niners win it because the Rams will have that. It'll
- 1:56:17Speaker 1: be in the weight of that on their head. You know,
- 1:56:19Speaker 1: they had a seventeen nothing lead the last time they
- 1:56:22Speaker 1: met a couple of weeks ago. They almost blew it
- 1:56:23Speaker 1: last week in Tampa. I mean, obviously the Rams have
- 1:56:26Speaker 1: I think the more powerful offense. But I think the
- 1:56:29Speaker 1: difference is going to be upfront for the Rams getting
- 1:56:32Speaker 1: at Jimmy, just rattling them. And I think they're gonna
- 1:56:35Speaker 1: that's gonna be their mission is to get at him
- 1:56:38Speaker 1: early and set the tone, and I think they will
- 1:56:42Speaker 1: and I think the Rams win both ways. So sorry,
- 1:56:46Speaker 1: are we all unslock step in this game? The only
- 1:56:50Speaker 1: different pick was Eric took Cincinnati points for the points. Yeah,
- 1:56:54Speaker 1: there you go. That's unfortunate. After last weekend there were
- 1:56:56Speaker 1: just so many competitive nine games And yeah, yeah, I
- 1:56:59Speaker 1: don't know. I mean, maybe it'll play out different. It
- 1:57:00Speaker 1: doesn't mean they won't be competitive, fun games. They could.
- 1:57:03Speaker 1: I it's gonna be hard to match last week. Week
- 1:57:07Speaker 1: was one of the best argument football. It's an argument
- 1:57:10Speaker 1: to be made. That was the best weekend of playoff
- 1:57:12Speaker 1: football in NFL history. Yeah, well, with the mount of shoveling,
- 1:57:15Speaker 1: I'm gonna have to do Hatreots weren't involved without doing
- 1:57:18Speaker 1: any research whatsoever to check that. Yeah, all right, well listen,
- 1:57:23Speaker 1: that's gonna be it. Probably the best weekend. The best
- 1:57:26Speaker 1: week in sports talk radio history was this week on
- 1:57:30Speaker 1: this show. Oh okay, yeah, sure, I would say so.
- 1:57:34Speaker 1: Do we maintain our spot going up two and a half? Yeah?
