- 0:02Speaker 1: Jags get a big win in Houston yesterday winding their
- 0:05Speaker 1: lead in the AFC South. What was the most impressive
- 0:07Speaker 1: part of the win yesterday? Do you guys on.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Battle Red Day in Houston, down fourteen thirteen, going right
- 0:13Speaker 2: down the field.
- 0:14Speaker 3: To take a lead they wouldn't relinquish.
- 0:15Speaker 2: It was in great response to the Texans trying to
- 0:18Speaker 2: grab momentum.
- 0:19Speaker 4: Yeah, this kind of plays into that the will and
- 0:22Speaker 4: the resilience of the Jaguars.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Welcome into Jags Am presented by Carshield and Cannannie Stevens,
- 0:44Speaker 1: Brian Sexton, and John Oser with me today as we
- 0:47Speaker 1: recap one of the biggest games of the year for
- 0:49Speaker 1: the Jaguars. We knew it was gonna be a big
- 0:50Speaker 1: one going into it. But our first big thing of
- 0:53Speaker 1: the day is Cardiac Cats because they made it dramatic.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Went right down to the final play of this game
- 0:58Speaker 1: and a miss field goal was the difference as the
- 1:00Speaker 1: Jaguars is not out of Houston with a win and
- 1:02Speaker 1: a big game for the team this year. Don Peterson
- 1:05Speaker 1: talked about it after the game.
- 1:08Speaker 5: I mean, it's game eleven, but they're all they're always big, right,
- 1:10Speaker 5: I mean, meantime you play your your division. They're all
- 1:13Speaker 5: big games and and you know, obviously we understand what
- 1:18Speaker 5: this team did to us, you know, a few weeks back.
- 1:20Speaker 4: And.
- 1:22Speaker 5: It's it is another you know, a game on the schedule,
- 1:26Speaker 5: a lot of football ahead still, but.
- 1:28Speaker 3: You know it's big.
- 1:30Speaker 5: I mean, you don't ever want to go oh and
- 1:32Speaker 5: two against a division fo you know, any any year obviously,
- 1:38Speaker 5: But our guys, you know, our guys will respond again,
- 1:41Speaker 5: you know, are just much likely did this week. It's
- 1:43Speaker 5: gotta take. It's gonna take a good week of prep
- 1:46Speaker 5: and and their their film study and and all of that,
- 1:49Speaker 5: but great opportunity. Jodan's gonna be loud. You know, they're
- 1:52Speaker 5: playing extremely well. We are too, and it should be.
- 1:56Speaker 5: It should be a good matchup.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Brian, we talked ear this week about how this game
- 2:01Speaker 1: might have huge implications on the AFC South, almost an
- 2:04Speaker 1: AFC South title game early in the year. But they'll
- 2:07Speaker 1: live up to the billing.
- 2:07Speaker 3: To you, what's the right way to say this, it's
- 2:12Speaker 3: all but over right.
- 2:13Speaker 2: I mean, there are games left to play, and there
- 2:16Speaker 2: are six games left.
- 2:16Speaker 3: To play, so there's a lot of football left. Anything
- 2:18Speaker 3: could happen.
- 2:19Speaker 2: But the Jaguars now have a commanding two game lead
- 2:22Speaker 2: with six to play. They still have the ability to
- 2:27Speaker 2: have a big home game, two big home games right
- 2:31Speaker 2: against AFC Powers. There's a lot of opportunity for this
- 2:35Speaker 2: team to just steamroll their way to the division title.
- 2:38Speaker 2: It won't be easy, but it feels like they wrapped
- 2:41Speaker 2: it up yesterday.
- 2:43Speaker 4: Yeah, And I think Doug and anybody with experience and
- 2:46Speaker 4: the team would tell you it's over as long as
- 2:50Speaker 4: they do what they need to do. Meaning if you
- 2:53Speaker 4: limp down the stretch and go one and five, you're
- 2:56Speaker 4: not going anywhere anyway. So I guess the point is
- 2:59Speaker 4: that they set themselves. I was up to concentrate on
- 3:03Speaker 4: the number one seed, the number two seed and think
- 3:06Speaker 4: about those kind of things. You don't ignore the division,
- 3:09Speaker 4: But now you can, as Trevor said, if they do
- 3:13Speaker 4: what they're supposed to do, they don't have to worry
- 3:15Speaker 4: about that. And boy, what a difference from last year.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Right.
- 3:19Speaker 1: It's nice to be in the front and not have
- 3:21Speaker 1: to try to win every game in a row to
- 3:23Speaker 1: win the division. So it's a good spot to be
- 3:25Speaker 1: at at this point in the year. 's like a
- 3:26Speaker 1: big thing today is gonna be zeroed in. Calvin Ridley
- 3:29Speaker 1: had a huge game against the Titans, two touchdowns here
- 3:32Speaker 1: at EverBank Stadium, and he had a really big second
- 3:34Speaker 1: half yesterday. And he talked a little bit postgame about
- 3:37Speaker 1: how while he had to drop early on in the game,
- 3:39Speaker 1: he didn't let himself get out of it all.
- 3:42Speaker 3: I'm gonna bounce that every time.
- 3:44Speaker 1: I'm not.
- 3:45Speaker 3: I'm mad about it, but I'm not that mad about it.
- 3:47Speaker 3: People everything, it was just like, I make that.
- 3:51Speaker 4: But I'm not dead mad. I'm not out of the game.
- 3:53Speaker 4: You know, I'm saying, I'm not out of the game.
- 3:55Speaker 3: I'm ready to make continue to make plays.
- 3:56Speaker 4: I want to don't stop throwing at the ball.
- 3:59Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying.
- 4:01Speaker 4: I'm ready, but i want to make that play. But
- 4:04Speaker 4: I'm never out of the game. I may look like
- 4:06Speaker 4: I am, but I'm not.
- 4:07Speaker 3: I'm ready to to you to make plays. So what
- 4:09Speaker 3: it is.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Calvin says, he's never out of the game. John We
- 4:13Speaker 1: certainly saw that in the second half, as he was
- 4:15Speaker 1: a crucial part to this kind of comeback, if you
- 4:17Speaker 1: will a little bit in the second half and the win.
- 4:20Speaker 4: Well, he was the go to guy, and even when
- 4:24Speaker 4: he wasn't producing, receiving, numbers on this team this year,
- 4:28Speaker 4: what is it eleven games in He's always been the
- 4:31Speaker 4: hardest guy to cover on this team. For the defensive backs,
- 4:36Speaker 4: I think it's twelve penalties. Now he's drawing eleven when
- 4:39Speaker 4: they needed it. Yesterday he came up big. I had
- 4:42Speaker 4: some fans. Oh, he had to drop in the first half. Look,
- 4:45Speaker 4: the NFL's hard. You don't catch everything. He has mattered
- 4:50Speaker 4: a great deal. I think this was again, you can
- 4:52Speaker 4: count four or five games this year now, Brian, I'm
- 4:54Speaker 4: not sure they win three or four games if he's
- 4:57Speaker 4: not on the field. I'm not sure they win yesterday
- 4:58Speaker 4: if he's not in the field.
- 5:00Speaker 2: The last two weeks, he really has looked John like
- 5:02Speaker 2: the number one receiver, a guy who can take over
- 5:04Speaker 2: the game. And it's important to remember that when he
- 5:06Speaker 2: first got to Atlanta, that was Julio Jones.
- 5:09Speaker 3: He was the accouterment.
- 5:11Speaker 2: This is the first time in his career where he's
- 5:13Speaker 2: the legitimate alpha receiver. And if you combine that with
- 5:16Speaker 2: the fact that it takes time to develop chemistry with
- 5:19Speaker 2: the quarterback.
- 5:20Speaker 3: Right now we are.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Just starting to see the Calvin Ridley, the Trent Balkey
- 5:24Speaker 2: and Doug Riederson Peterson thought they were going to get
- 5:27Speaker 2: when they made the trade last year. I mean, he
- 5:30Speaker 2: ran the same route on the touchdown as on the
- 5:34Speaker 2: two point conversion.
- 5:35Speaker 3: How many guys could get away with that, right?
- 5:37Speaker 2: He is tremendous and I think he's got so much
- 5:39Speaker 2: upside left.
- 5:40Speaker 3: I can't wait to see what he does in the
- 5:42Speaker 3: ring six games of the year.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Our final big thing this week is on the other
- 5:45Speaker 1: side of the ball. Pay the man. It's about Josh Allen.
- 5:47Speaker 1: He's in a contract year and he's been earning every
- 5:50Speaker 1: penny with his play so far this season. Two huge
- 5:52Speaker 1: sacks on that last play, that last possession for the Texans,
- 5:57Speaker 1: and Trevor Lawrence talked a little bit about the play
- 5:59Speaker 1: of Josh Allen yesterday.
- 6:01Speaker 6: They did a great job offensively of being able to
- 6:03Speaker 6: do that and extend plays. But then you know, our
- 6:05Speaker 6: pass rush really stepped up at the end of the
- 6:06Speaker 6: game and got some huge sacks.
- 6:08Speaker 3: I mean you look at both those plays.
- 6:10Speaker 6: To keep them, you know, and almost made it, but
- 6:12Speaker 6: to keep them out a field goal range and make
- 6:13Speaker 6: that a fifty eight to fifty nine yarder, that's huge.
- 6:16Speaker 6: You know, if you let him get some yards there
- 6:18Speaker 6: and they're kicking a fifty yarder. That's a big difference.
- 6:20Speaker 6: So I mean that won us the game, and our
- 6:23Speaker 6: defense really stepped up.
- 6:23Speaker 1: One of them saw the kick go off the crossbar,
- 6:27Speaker 1: so it certainly was all the difference. Those sacks definitely
- 6:30Speaker 1: played a role in that. Brian, we don't tell the
- 6:32Speaker 1: GM what to do very often, but pay the man.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Seems like Josh needs to be paid well.
- 6:36Speaker 2: And look, Josh Allen in Detroit in August came into
- 6:39Speaker 2: one of our preseason production meetings and said he was
- 6:42Speaker 2: betting on himself to finish this year, to finish the play,
- 6:47Speaker 2: and he did yesterday. He finished the game with his
- 6:49Speaker 2: strongest performance of this season. You know, we can focus
- 6:53Speaker 2: on that because he and trayvond we're just wrecking that
- 6:55Speaker 2: offensive front and creating havoc. But John, the pass rush
- 6:59Speaker 2: over all old yesterday, led by Josh Allen, it got
- 7:02Speaker 2: to the quarterback. It didn't do Week three, Roy Robertson
- 7:05Speaker 2: Harris was getting pressure up the middle. You saw ninety
- 7:07Speaker 2: one and ninety five and ninety four. They were also
- 7:10Speaker 2: making him move his feet. It was a strong performance
- 7:15Speaker 2: by the Jaguars pass rush in a game that they
- 7:17Speaker 2: needed it led by Josh Allen, who now has a
- 7:20Speaker 2: career high twelve sacks.
- 7:21Speaker 4: Yeah, and it shows you how different the game is now. Brian.
- 7:26Speaker 4: If you had said twenty years ago, somebody throws for whatever.
- 7:30Speaker 4: C J. Stroud threw four over three hundred two touchdowns,
- 7:33Speaker 4: you said, oh, they didn't get any pass rush. Oh
- 7:34Speaker 4: what a terrible defensive game. Well you can have a
- 7:37Speaker 4: good defensive game now and a guy still have those
- 7:39Speaker 4: kind of numbers. They did affect CJ. Stroud. They got
- 7:43Speaker 4: to him in big moments. I always talk about breaking
- 7:45Speaker 4: serve on defense in this day and age. It felt
- 7:48Speaker 4: to me like they affected him enough that it kept
- 7:51Speaker 4: them in control of the game. And I know the numbers,
- 7:53Speaker 4: and there were certain plays that didn't show that against
- 7:56Speaker 4: a guy like c. J. Strodd, you're not going to
- 7:57Speaker 4: stop every play very often. They effect to him when
- 8:00Speaker 4: it mattered, and they had big stops at the end
- 8:02Speaker 4: of the game and any game events is those plays mattered.
- 8:05Speaker 4: And good for Josh Allen. I mean, it's how hard
- 8:09Speaker 4: he's worked, how much he's wanted it, how close he's
- 8:11Speaker 4: been to see it all come to fruition, and it's
- 8:13Speaker 4: pretty cool.
- 8:13Speaker 3: I think it's important.
- 8:15Speaker 2: You mentioned that it's tough the way that the league
- 8:17Speaker 2: is set up these days, and the Jaguars saw Tank
- 8:20Speaker 2: Dell get them for a couple of plays and then
- 8:23Speaker 2: they clamp down on him, and he finished with five
- 8:25Speaker 2: catches for fifty yards. He did have the touchdown, So
- 8:28Speaker 2: all of a sudden, Nico Collins becomes the guy and
- 8:30Speaker 2: then the Jaguars lean towards him. And then there's Xavier Henderson,
- 8:32Speaker 2: the rookie from Iowa State. This quarterback Stroud, within the
- 8:37Speaker 2: context of the way that the rules are set up,
- 8:39Speaker 2: is a really gifted quarterback and a guy that can
- 8:42Speaker 2: make a lot of different throws. The Jaguars came up
- 8:44Speaker 2: with the plays John when they needed to. You're not
- 8:47Speaker 2: going to keep the numbers from these quarterbacks. That's just
- 8:49Speaker 2: not the way the rules are written these days. They
- 8:51Speaker 2: want to see they being the league and they want
- 8:54Speaker 2: to see these quarterbacks putting the ball up and down
- 8:57Speaker 2: the field. It's just about your defense breaking serve to
- 8:59Speaker 2: where three times in the second half of the Jags
- 9:01Speaker 2: did that.
- 9:02Speaker 1: There's a lot of good plays on both sides of
- 9:04Speaker 1: the football. Yesterday. Coming up after the break, we will
- 9:06Speaker 1: go over all of the highlights for you from Jaguars Texans.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Move the Freight, Move the Freight, Move the Freight. Magellan
- 9:20Speaker 1: Transport voted the coolest office space in Jacksonville. He can
- 9:23Speaker 1: apply online at www dot Magellan Logistics dot com. Welcome
- 9:32Speaker 1: into jags AM as we get ready to go over
- 9:34Speaker 1: some more highlights from yesterday. It's nice to have a
- 9:36Speaker 1: lot of highlights to go over. I'm sure some people
- 9:38Speaker 1: didn't like the drama of the game, but made for
- 9:41Speaker 1: interesting viewing.
- 9:42Speaker 3: What makes it the number one sport in America?
- 9:44Speaker 4: Sure is?
- 9:44Speaker 1: So it's good. And let's start out with Trevor's first
- 9:46Speaker 1: touchdown of the day, as he you know, we saw
- 9:50Speaker 1: him set it up and then he hasn't been great
- 9:53Speaker 1: on the kind of quarterback sneaks that we've seen from him.
- 9:56Speaker 1: At least they look a little more stressful than they
- 9:58Speaker 1: should be. John, I think I was sitting next to
- 9:59Speaker 1: you and I was like, this is like the most
- 10:01Speaker 1: stressful quarterback sneak I've seen.
- 10:03Speaker 3: But I'm sure you didn't like the one handed reach
- 10:05Speaker 3: with the ball.
- 10:05Speaker 4: I mean, well, he does it get away with it
- 10:08Speaker 4: some times It'll bite him at some point. Look, I
- 10:10Speaker 4: get a lot of questions about why don't they quarterbacks
- 10:13Speaker 4: sneak want we're not good at it, and it's not
- 10:16Speaker 4: necessarily trever. They are not a mammoth the terrifically strong
- 10:21Speaker 4: interior line that gets a lot of push, and you know,
- 10:26Speaker 4: they haven't been that so far, so it's hard for
- 10:29Speaker 4: them to quarterback sneak. So that makes these situations difficult.
- 10:31Speaker 2: The thing that put my heart in my throat. You
- 10:33Speaker 2: see how quickly his arm is rocketed backwards. Yes, I
- 10:37Speaker 2: was like, oh, you know, he got it over the line,
- 10:39Speaker 2: But look how quickly that one goes backwards. You're right, John,
- 10:42Speaker 2: it's a dangerous way to play the game.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Hopefully they'll figure out they need that tush push at
- 10:47Speaker 1: some point.
- 10:47Speaker 3: Together.
- 10:47Speaker 2: They've got to figure out how to ram it in
- 10:49Speaker 2: from a yard out without risking the ball.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Well, maybe we can get Tank to come around.
- 10:54Speaker 2: One six yard carry one And I thought, there you go, boy,
- 10:57Speaker 2: because I had made him my hot take last week
- 11:00Speaker 2: and I thought, all right, you're on.
- 11:01Speaker 3: And then he didn't see the ball again.
- 11:03Speaker 4: I just well, Travis was out of the game at
- 11:05Speaker 4: that point, and so they went a little deeper in
- 11:08Speaker 4: running back rotation.
- 11:09Speaker 3: So he had had a six yard rush.
- 11:11Speaker 2: I mean, I still think you're going to see him.
- 11:14Speaker 2: He's going to be a solution to a problem at
- 11:16Speaker 2: some point this year.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Okay, I was happy to see Deernest in there as well.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Let's go to Stroud's touchdown to Tank Dell. So we
- 11:21Speaker 1: were worried about this a little bit, just because we
- 11:23Speaker 1: know the propensity for the big play for the Texans
- 11:25Speaker 1: and just that scrambling ability. And as much as we
- 11:28Speaker 1: talked about miscommunication in the backfield, it's really hard when
- 11:31Speaker 1: you're expecting your DB's to cover somebody for seven, eight, nine,
- 11:35Speaker 1: ten seconds. And that's a lot of what c J. Stroud.
- 11:38Speaker 1: I didn't realize as much until we watched this game yesterday.
- 11:40Speaker 1: That's a lot of what he does. His scrambling ability
- 11:43Speaker 1: gives him so much time that his receivers find a
- 11:45Speaker 1: way to get open, and that's where a lot of
- 11:47Speaker 1: those big plays come from.
- 11:48Speaker 3: Well, this was an this was an evolution to his game. Ky.
- 11:51Speaker 2: We didn't see it in the first game that he
- 11:53Speaker 2: ran around and made plays on the run. It's something
- 11:55Speaker 2: that he clearly is capable of doing it with that
- 11:58Speaker 2: receiver Dell, Who's revolt. What a tremendous rookie season he's having.
- 12:03Speaker 2: He's so hard to cover.
- 12:04Speaker 3: John. Maybe there's a receiver you recall like him, but
- 12:07Speaker 3: he looks different to me.
- 12:09Speaker 4: Yeah, he's hard to cover. And I got some pushback
- 12:13Speaker 4: from fans, Oh why the only rush three here? Well, look,
- 12:16Speaker 4: they brought a lot of pressure. I don't think overall
- 12:18Speaker 4: yesterday they could have pressured him any better. They know
- 12:24Speaker 4: he plays this way. If you watch them rush the
- 12:26Speaker 4: past or Brian and Kuy there were a lot of
- 12:28Speaker 4: times where they were staying in their lanes. They were
- 12:30Speaker 4: trying to contain even on that play, instead of going
- 12:33Speaker 4: after him. They were sort of playing, you know, angle
- 12:37Speaker 4: defense if you I'm not putting it. I'm not putting
- 12:39Speaker 4: that very well. But they were trying to stay in
- 12:41Speaker 4: lanes and contain him a little bit. Look, if the
- 12:45Speaker 4: blitz worked every time, everybody would do it every play.
- 12:49Speaker 4: You can't do it every play. On that play, it
- 12:53Speaker 4: got him because they made a play against the good team.
- 12:56Speaker 4: That's gonna happen.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Sometimes when you drop eight like that against your rookie quarterback,
- 12:59Speaker 2: you're betting that you can force him to make a
- 13:01Speaker 2: throw that he doesn't necessarily want to, and it could
- 13:03Speaker 2: become a turnover, a takeaway.
- 13:05Speaker 3: It didn't happen.
- 13:07Speaker 2: That was a great throw, dangerous throw back across your
- 13:10Speaker 2: body into traffic, but Dell slid away from Rayshawn Jenkins
- 13:14Speaker 2: and it was a good throw by c J.
- 13:16Speaker 3: Straw.
- 13:16Speaker 2: But you're gonna drop eight against quarterbacks. That's another thing
- 13:18Speaker 2: they do in this league is try to try to
- 13:20Speaker 2: create some confusion and give them a different look and
- 13:22Speaker 2: see if you can create turnovers.
- 13:23Speaker 4: And if you surprise them with the blitz every time,
- 13:26Speaker 4: guess what happens. You know it's a surprise war. So
- 13:30Speaker 4: you can pick a part that play. But I thought
- 13:32Speaker 4: the defensive plan yesterday against an ascending quarterback was very good.
- 13:36Speaker 1: We'll go to the waning seconds of the first half
- 13:39Speaker 1: because the Texans missed a field goal and the Jaguars
- 13:42Speaker 1: got the ball back with a little over thirty seconds
- 13:44Speaker 1: I think at that point, and then they got a
- 13:47Speaker 1: huge play at a Christian Kirk. I think they were
- 13:48Speaker 1: just trying to get into field goal territory. They almost
- 13:50Speaker 1: got a touchdown on this play and then they chose
- 13:52Speaker 1: to go for it. And I talked to I wrote
- 13:54Speaker 1: it a little bit about it. I talked to John
- 13:56Speaker 1: about it too. I wasn't surprised Doug wanted to go
- 13:58Speaker 1: for it. They didn't get it, and I think that's
- 14:00Speaker 1: where you know, Doug always likes to go for it,
- 14:03Speaker 1: and then you know, when you don't get it, they criticize.
- 14:05Speaker 1: When you get it, you look really smart. So I
- 14:08Speaker 1: wasn't against it, and I think it was smart. And
- 14:09Speaker 1: I think when you look at the end of the game,
- 14:11Speaker 1: you see what sometimes the conservative gets you.
- 14:14Speaker 2: Well, look, Doug, he said right after the game, but
- 14:17Speaker 2: I'm going to go forward again. You know, this play
- 14:19Speaker 2: didn't work, so by default is a bad play. But
- 14:24Speaker 2: I would rather see the ball go forward than back,
- 14:26Speaker 2: and it has to go back to the six yard
- 14:27Speaker 2: line to get into the end zone. I mean, this
- 14:29Speaker 2: is where I think the Jaguars need to focus on
- 14:32Speaker 2: finding a way to get a yard or two going
- 14:34Speaker 2: forward when.
- 14:35Speaker 3: They want it.
- 14:35Speaker 4: Well, they don't trust the interior on that play. And
- 14:38Speaker 4: I'm not trying to bash that, no, it's just it's
- 14:40Speaker 4: so far in eleven games that play pushing forward has
- 14:46Speaker 4: not developed trust to be used in this situation. A
- 14:49Speaker 4: lot of feedback in the ozone about it. You know,
- 14:53Speaker 4: dumb call kick the field goal, take the points. Look,
- 14:56Speaker 4: if you don't like that approach, don't watch the Jaguars
- 15:02Speaker 4: an because it's going to be him. So I got
- 15:07Speaker 4: an email last night saying, I am so tired of
- 15:12Speaker 4: watching this team give up field goals they ought to
- 15:14Speaker 4: be kicking. And our responsors are you tired of being
- 15:17Speaker 4: in first place?
- 15:18Speaker 1: Winning?
- 15:18Speaker 4: Because that's the trade off. Doug believes that the long
- 15:24Speaker 4: and short term benefits of aggression in that situation far
- 15:28Speaker 4: out weigh the occasional short term risk negative whatever it is.
- 15:35Speaker 4: He believed right there he could end the game and
- 15:38Speaker 4: it didn't happen, but he believes overall, if he does
- 15:41Speaker 4: that ten times and ends the game six times, that's
- 15:44Speaker 4: more of a benefit that you can make up for
- 15:47Speaker 4: it if you miss it, but it's a kill shot
- 15:51Speaker 4: if you hit it.
- 15:53Speaker 2: It may not happen this year, but I would love
- 15:55Speaker 2: to see them figure out a way to run the
- 15:57Speaker 2: ball in from the one yard line. But again, I
- 16:01Speaker 2: mean they're not the Eagles, right, I mean, if the
- 16:02Speaker 2: Eagles get the ball in the one yard line, is
- 16:04Speaker 2: there any doubt they're scoring? No, Because no one has
- 16:06Speaker 2: figured out how to stop that. And with a six
- 16:08Speaker 2: foot six quarterback, it isn't the same dynamic. I totally
- 16:11Speaker 2: get that, but I think I'm speaking for a lot
- 16:13Speaker 2: of people when I say figure out a way to
- 16:16Speaker 2: get the yard when you need the yard.
- 16:18Speaker 4: I'd like to say it too. But I also don't
- 16:20Speaker 4: think you need to be silly and continue to drive
- 16:24Speaker 4: your head against the wallace NYE.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Right, No, no, no, I'm talking long term, because again, if
- 16:27Speaker 2: they're up twenty seven, twenty to seven there, I'm not
- 16:30Speaker 2: saying that the Texans can't mount a comeback, but I'm
- 16:32Speaker 2: saying the Jaguars are a lot more aggressive in the
- 16:34Speaker 2: second half on defense. I just I think that that's
- 16:38Speaker 2: that next step you go to instead of walking off
- 16:41Speaker 2: the field, you walk off twenty to seven and you say, hey,
- 16:45Speaker 2: now we're really coming after you.
- 16:46Speaker 1: And you're getting the ball back after the gap.
- 16:47Speaker 2: Absolutely, Dougast said at time and again the last couple
- 16:50Speaker 2: of weeks, we haven't done anything yet, right, right, They're
- 16:52Speaker 2: still evolving into who they're going to be as a
- 16:53Speaker 2: football team. That's just one of those things on the
- 16:56Speaker 2: to do list that they've got to figure out.
- 16:58Speaker 1: All right, we're gonna jump to the second half. Now.
- 17:00Speaker 1: That questionable call on Evan we're gonna skip over that
- 17:03Speaker 1: the holding call that just ended up being a pick
- 17:06Speaker 1: that led to this touchdown from CJ. Stroud where we
- 17:08Speaker 1: saw him kind of rushing in which we didn't see
- 17:10Speaker 1: him running a whole lot was more scrambling to throw.
- 17:14Speaker 1: But it's just he's dynamic in a way, and obviously
- 17:19Speaker 1: the national media talks about him all the time. But
- 17:21Speaker 1: he's different than the first time we saw him, because
- 17:23Speaker 1: I thought he was great the first time we saw him,
- 17:25Speaker 1: and now he's like, maybe he's a little too confident,
- 17:27Speaker 1: maybe because some throws I think are a little not
- 17:31Speaker 1: quite there yet. But he's feeling himself and he's making
- 17:34Speaker 1: some of the throws, so that's probably why he has
- 17:35Speaker 1: the confidence.
- 17:37Speaker 4: Yeah, he's a good player and still evolving, which makes
- 17:42Speaker 4: him a good because he's clearly adapting to what defenses
- 17:47Speaker 4: are trying to do, which is that second step. You know,
- 17:49Speaker 4: he takes certain things away, then he answers it by
- 17:52Speaker 4: being able to counter that. He's gonna be good for
- 17:56Speaker 4: a long time. He's a good player. Jarrisaid, for you
- 17:59Speaker 4: other way to beat him. He's not God. He didn't
- 18:03Speaker 4: score forty two points. They stay scored twenty one. So
- 18:05Speaker 4: they figured out a way to beat him. I thought
- 18:06Speaker 4: they contained them, They got them off the field a lot,
- 18:10Speaker 4: and at the end of the game they limited that
- 18:13Speaker 4: last drive as much as they needed to.
- 18:16Speaker 2: This was the only game worth watching in the early
- 18:18Speaker 2: window yesterday, and it has a lot of people around
- 18:20Speaker 2: the league saying this is going to be a great
- 18:23Speaker 2: matchup for years to come.
- 18:26Speaker 3: It was a fun football game to watch.
- 18:28Speaker 2: And I know Trevor said after the game he hopes
- 18:30Speaker 2: that the teams in the division aren't that good. It's
- 18:32Speaker 2: better for this. This guy's good and this team is good.
- 18:36Speaker 2: Depending on what happens in Indianapolis, this is going to
- 18:39Speaker 2: go from a division that was sort of also ran
- 18:41Speaker 2: oh the South, they're not that good to one of
- 18:43Speaker 2: the better divisions in football. And that's just Jack's gotta
- 18:48Speaker 2: buckle up and get ready for it because it's going
- 18:49Speaker 2: to be a fight every Sunday.
- 18:51Speaker 4: That was a great answer on Trevor's parton I don't
- 18:53Speaker 4: want them to be good. I want I want him
- 18:55Speaker 4: to be you know. Yeah, he was to Dominator right,
- 18:57Speaker 4: so of course he doesn't like it. When when the
- 19:01Speaker 4: question was asked, I was like, I don't particularly like
- 19:04Speaker 4: I worked for the Jag. Yes, yeah, you'd rather see
- 19:07Speaker 4: j Stroud stink and he doesn't stink.
- 19:10Speaker 1: Certainly does not.
- 19:10Speaker 3: That's gonna be a prime time game next year, you
- 19:12Speaker 3: watch it, I sure hope.
- 19:13Speaker 1: So it's gonna be a good one to watch both
- 19:14Speaker 1: times that they play each other. Let's talk about that
- 19:17Speaker 1: Trevor to Calvin Ridley touchdown and then the two point
- 19:20Speaker 1: conversion that was the exact same play. Because it went
- 19:22Speaker 1: so well the first time, they just did it again
- 19:23Speaker 1: right after that, that whole possession. I know they got
- 19:27Speaker 1: the p I call to set up the first and
- 19:29Speaker 1: goal again for them there, but I was just impressed
- 19:32Speaker 1: with them. That was like a That was a little
- 19:35Speaker 1: bit of a shift for me. That was the sequence
- 19:37Speaker 1: where I was like, Okay, they're a good team, Like
- 19:39Speaker 1: good team needs to score here. They've had problems on
- 19:41Speaker 1: the third down, they've had problems in the ren zone,
- 19:43Speaker 1: but they found a way and I just you know,
- 19:45Speaker 1: I think Etan got stopped on the first one. Was
- 19:48Speaker 1: there past you tried to find Kirk I think in
- 19:50Speaker 1: the corner maybe one time and then to.
- 19:52Speaker 4: Threw laid over to Farrell on the play right before this, yep,
- 19:55Speaker 4: a touchdown I think your point, guy is exactly right.
- 19:58Speaker 4: I think about their last seven victories. It's seven out
- 20:01Speaker 4: of eight now. They haven't trailed in five of them.
- 20:05Speaker 4: They trailed against the Colts in Week six, which, by
- 20:07Speaker 4: the way, if you don't beat the Colts in that game,
- 20:10Speaker 4: you're tied for first place. So let's call those two
- 20:13Speaker 4: game big games right now. And then yesterday against the Colts,
- 20:19Speaker 4: you trailed and you went and scored the next possession.
- 20:21Speaker 4: Against this team, you trailed for three minutes and forty
- 20:23Speaker 4: one seconds, you went score in the next possession. They're
- 20:25Speaker 4: not perfect, but they take control of games and they
- 20:31Speaker 4: put their hands around the neck of the games and
- 20:33Speaker 4: they choke it out. I mean, they are a really
- 20:36Speaker 4: it's sort of my hot take, so I won't go
- 20:39Speaker 4: deep into it, but they're doing what they have to do,
- 20:42Speaker 4: and I don't care about close whatever. They're putting themselves
- 20:45Speaker 4: in situations at the end of games where they have
- 20:47Speaker 4: the advantage. They had the percentage advantage, they kept it yesterday.
- 20:51Speaker 4: That's how you grind through a season and get to
- 20:54Speaker 4: the postseason.
- 20:54Speaker 3: Well, you think the Eagles mind winning close games?
- 20:57Speaker 1: Right?
- 20:57Speaker 3: They're ten and one. Yesterday they won by a field goal.
- 20:59Speaker 1: It over.
- 20:59Speaker 3: Two before that.
- 21:00Speaker 2: They beat Kansas City at the end of the game,
- 21:02Speaker 2: and they beat the Cowboys at the end of the game.
- 21:04Speaker 2: All close games. So yeah, that's just the way that
- 21:07Speaker 2: the game goes. They're going to be close. It's the
- 21:09Speaker 2: National Football League. They are good players on both sides
- 21:13Speaker 2: of the ball. I mean, maybe not necessarily in a
- 21:16Speaker 2: couple of cities, but in most of them they are
- 21:19Speaker 2: really good. So get used to it. It's the dramas
- 21:22Speaker 2: what makes it great. You'd love to win a game
- 21:24Speaker 2: by ten and be able to sit back and relax
- 21:26Speaker 2: in the fourth quarter, but that isn't what this league
- 21:29Speaker 2: is these days.
- 21:30Speaker 1: It's not it wasn't yesterday. Let's put it that way.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Because the Texans certainly out of the way.
- 21:34Speaker 3: They wanted to be a guy. They wanted to be
- 21:35Speaker 3: close like that, I know.
- 21:37Speaker 1: So I will say it was a little bit stressful,
- 21:39Speaker 1: especially that last Texans possion, because I do want to
- 21:41Speaker 1: jump ahead to that because we've got to talk about
- 21:43Speaker 1: Josh Allen and what he was able to do. I
- 21:44Speaker 1: think he got one and a half sacks because that
- 21:46Speaker 1: second sack he split with Trayvon, But I don't think
- 21:49Speaker 1: you win the game. You definitely go to overtime if
- 21:52Speaker 1: you don't have those two sacks from Josh Allen, because
- 21:54Speaker 1: the Texans were really driving at that point, and those
- 21:57Speaker 1: two sacks took them out of field goal range because
- 21:59Speaker 1: as we saw, the kick went off the crossbar, and
- 22:01Speaker 1: just Josh just willed himself in that. He won you
- 22:05Speaker 1: the game. In my opinion.
- 22:06Speaker 2: He with Laramie Tunsall yesterday, and Laramie Tunsell is a
- 22:09Speaker 2: really good left tackle.
- 22:10Speaker 4: John Yeah, he was outstanding, And it's the little moments
- 22:18Speaker 4: that matter in this league. And the first sack people say, well,
- 22:21Speaker 4: I didn't matter as much. They got the first down,
- 22:22Speaker 4: but right then in that last drive, you're playing against
- 22:26Speaker 4: field position and time, and the first sack pushed the
- 22:30Speaker 4: Texans back to where, now, all of a sudden, the
- 22:32Speaker 4: probably weren't gonna get in touchdown on that drive and
- 22:34Speaker 4: they were gonna need a long field goal rather than
- 22:36Speaker 4: a short field goal. And then you had a couple
- 22:38Speaker 4: of plays where they were you know, there was a
- 22:41Speaker 4: point in that drive where you thought, well, it's gonna
- 22:43Speaker 4: be an easy field goal in overtime because they had
- 22:45Speaker 4: gotten to this point was about forty five seconds and
- 22:49Speaker 4: Josh's pressure and the defensive pressure overall kept that thing
- 22:53Speaker 4: to a fifty eight yard field goal when it probably
- 22:57Speaker 4: it felt like it was going to be a forty
- 22:59Speaker 4: five yard field goal and the defense made it harder.
- 23:02Speaker 4: And that's the game of inches, this saying, that's what honestly,
- 23:05Speaker 4: Doug Peterson's really good at putting them in a position
- 23:09Speaker 4: where they had the edge in those inches situations.
- 23:11Speaker 2: You know, we've also talked all year long about how
- 23:14Speaker 2: Calvin Ridley doesn't get credit for all of the holding
- 23:17Speaker 2: penalties and the passes interference penalties that he draws, and
- 23:20Speaker 2: maybe he should well. Josh Allen drew a holding penalty
- 23:23Speaker 2: on the first drive of the game from Laramie Tunsel.
- 23:25Speaker 2: It's like, okay, this it's on now. You know, he
- 23:28Speaker 2: should get credit for that. That forced it into first
- 23:30Speaker 2: in twenty and they had a punt. So he was
- 23:33Speaker 2: just an overall dominant figure, I mean dominant figure, and
- 23:38Speaker 2: when he needed to win the game on the road
- 23:40Speaker 2: in the division, it's screaming loud and he comes through
- 23:43Speaker 2: with plays like that and credit Trayvon. I mean that
- 23:46Speaker 2: was a great pass rush he came to get half
- 23:48Speaker 2: that sack.
- 23:49Speaker 1: I know, they probably weren't happy they had to split it,
- 23:52Speaker 1: but I'll take it.
- 23:53Speaker 3: By the way, you know how many sacks there Aiden
- 23:54Speaker 3: Hutchinson has this year?
- 23:56Speaker 1: How many?
- 23:56Speaker 3: Five?
- 23:57Speaker 4: Okay?
- 23:57Speaker 3: You know how many Tradeon Walker has? Four and a half?
- 24:00Speaker 1: Four and a half?
- 24:01Speaker 3: Okay, all right.
- 24:02Speaker 1: Well we're almost there for all the comparison Choppers, and
- 24:06Speaker 1: then obviously the missfield goal at the end there. I
- 24:09Speaker 1: was a little surprised that they didn't try to go
- 24:11Speaker 1: for it, to be honest with you, because I thought
- 24:12Speaker 1: it was such a long kick, and with the missed
- 24:14Speaker 1: earlier and kind of the way their kicking game had
- 24:18Speaker 1: been going, I was surprised they didn't try to try
- 24:20Speaker 1: to go for it because if I'm the Texans, I'm
- 24:21Speaker 1: kind of playing with house money at this point for
- 24:23Speaker 1: the season, so I'd be like, why don't you go
- 24:24Speaker 1: for it?
- 24:24Speaker 4: But well, I'm glad they did it. I'm sure their
- 24:29Speaker 4: analytics or their thoughts was this kid can can't hit that.
- 24:35Speaker 4: I was actually watching them during pregame and he was
- 24:38Speaker 4: his leg is strong enough to get that kick there.
- 24:41Speaker 4: So at that point it was fourth and nine, is
- 24:45Speaker 4: that right, fourth and twelve? Yeah, So your percentage of
- 24:49Speaker 4: picking that up. Probably your percentage of hitting fifty eight
- 24:54Speaker 4: yard field goal are probably higher than picking that up. Again,
- 24:59Speaker 4: credit to the jack I were so much of late
- 25:01Speaker 4: game is about creating those situations and those decisions. The Jaguars,
- 25:07Speaker 4: you know, manned up for lack of a better word,
- 25:10Speaker 4: and figured out a way to keep that to a
- 25:13Speaker 4: fifty eight yard field goal. Those are the moments that
- 25:16Speaker 4: define seasons.
- 25:17Speaker 2: I it turned out to be the right call to
- 25:20Speaker 2: kick it, because I mean he was what one rotation
- 25:22Speaker 2: to the football, probably from making it your one closer. Yeah,
- 25:26Speaker 2: what they're talking about in Houston this morning is third
- 25:29Speaker 2: down and one and fourth down and one throwing it
- 25:32Speaker 2: twice right one a Dulton Schultz, and I forget.
- 25:34Speaker 3: Who the other one was two down the side.
- 25:35Speaker 2: They missed both of them and gave the ball to
- 25:37Speaker 2: the Jaguars with nine to fifteen to play at their
- 25:40Speaker 2: own forty six yard line. Now they're saying, we why
- 25:41Speaker 2: didn't you try to run the ball?
- 25:43Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 25:44Speaker 4: I told Kay I thought those were the funniest. We
- 25:46Speaker 4: were sitting next to each other in the press box
- 25:47Speaker 4: and that was one of the stranger play calling sequences
- 25:52Speaker 4: I've seen against the Jaguars in a while and maybe
- 25:56Speaker 4: they had a play they believe it was gonna work
- 25:57Speaker 4: and be a kill shot, but it should have lost
- 26:02Speaker 4: the game. Yeah, because you gave the Jaywars a ball
- 26:05Speaker 4: that's your own forty three. I'm sure Doug and trailor
- 26:08Speaker 4: anybody would say that's where we have to go in
- 26:10Speaker 4: the game, and they didn't. But right now in the well,
- 26:16Speaker 4: always in the league, but right now in the league,
- 26:18Speaker 4: it's those little moments. You know, if the Jaguars go
- 26:22Speaker 4: down right there and get a field goal that probably
- 26:25Speaker 4: feels like a blowout win, they don't get it, and
- 26:28Speaker 4: all of a sudden, that's how close it is. People
- 26:30Speaker 4: who want these blowouts, they're just not common. It's not
- 26:33Speaker 4: set up that way.
- 26:34Speaker 2: If you're looking for a definition of hard to win,
- 26:37Speaker 2: right because you always your coaches say how hard it
- 26:39Speaker 2: is to win in this league. Yesterday, the fourth quarter
- 26:41Speaker 2: from nine minutes on shows you how hard it is.
- 26:44Speaker 2: Jaguars got the ball inside Texans territory, couldn't get more
- 26:48Speaker 2: than two minutes off the clock. Then the Texans score
- 26:50Speaker 2: a touchdown, force a punt, and then have a chance.
- 26:53Speaker 3: At a game winning field goal. It's tough to win
- 26:55Speaker 3: in this league.
- 26:55Speaker 4: Right, your Zay Jones putting his foot down an inch
- 26:59Speaker 4: inside from that being a black Yeah, it was an
- 27:02Speaker 4: inch from being a blowout, and instead it was a It's.
- 27:05Speaker 2: Almost wrenching, right game right almost you just your heart
- 27:10Speaker 2: was in your throat as the ball was coming down
- 27:12Speaker 2: on target and then it hit some polls.
- 27:15Speaker 3: The other way.
- 27:17Speaker 1: So close, yet so far? All right, coming up, we're

- 27:51Speaker 3: I want the.
- 27:52Speaker 6: Teams in our division to be as bad as possible,
- 27:54Speaker 6: So no, I'm not. That's how I see it. And
- 27:57Speaker 6: the way they're playing it's exciting. Yes, there's gonna be
- 28:00Speaker 6: some I'm sure some great matchups down the road. And
- 28:02Speaker 6: CJ's playing, he's playing lights out, He's doing a great job.
- 28:05Speaker 6: I need to be a rookie and to play how
- 28:06Speaker 6: he is I got a lot of respect for him.
- 28:08Speaker 4: I know that.
- 28:08Speaker 3: I know how hard it is. You know, I've been
- 28:10Speaker 3: in that position.
- 28:10Speaker 6: So he's doing a great job and it's gonna be
- 28:13Speaker 6: fun for for years to come hopefully.
- 28:16Speaker 1: Oh Trevor Lawrence. We love him for his honesty, and
- 28:18Speaker 1: he was certainly honest when he was asked about whether
- 28:21Speaker 1: he enjoys that rivalry with c. J. Stroud, because of
- 28:24Speaker 1: course he wants them to be bad. He wants everyone
- 28:26Speaker 1: else in the division to be bad so the Jigars
- 28:28Speaker 1: can be good.
- 28:29Speaker 2: He's the only one you can do anything about that, right,
- 28:31Speaker 2: I mean, he can go beat him and keep him
- 28:33Speaker 2: behind him.
- 28:33Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 28:34Speaker 4: I think he deserves some credit, by the way, for
- 28:37Speaker 4: you know, I usually don't watch broadcasts and worry about it. Yeah,
- 28:42Speaker 4: but even last night on the NFL Network Highlight Show,
- 28:47Speaker 4: I watched the first four highlights of c J. Strapp, Yes,
- 28:51Speaker 4: and Trevor Lawrence throws for three eighty six or whatever
- 28:53Speaker 4: it was three you know people and out played him,
- 28:59Speaker 4: but they won and made huge plays in big moments.
- 29:03Speaker 4: Terror Lawrences, there are some credit for that's the second
- 29:07Speaker 4: battle between those two. They're one and one. He's two
- 29:09Speaker 4: games up in the division one for Trevor.
- 29:12Speaker 3: So here's my hot take.
- 29:13Speaker 4: You ready sorry about that?
- 29:14Speaker 1: No no, no, no, no no.
- 29:15Speaker 2: Here's my hot take, and that is the Jacks are
- 29:17Speaker 2: going to see these guys again this year. The way
- 29:19Speaker 2: that the AFC is rolling out, The Bills.
- 29:22Speaker 3: Lost a heartbreaker. I'm sure you saw it. It was a
- 29:25Speaker 3: great game.
- 29:26Speaker 2: But they're six and six now, and the way that
- 29:28Speaker 2: their schedule rolls out, they're behind the Texans at this point,
- 29:31Speaker 2: They're behind the Colts at this point, they have a
- 29:34Speaker 2: long way to go. I think when you look at
- 29:36Speaker 2: the Browns right, they've lost their starting quarterback, they're starting
- 29:38Speaker 2: running back, two starting tackles, and maybe the third, and
- 29:41Speaker 2: then yesterday maybe the best defensive player in the game,
- 29:44Speaker 2: Miles Garrett, leaves the game in the sling and says
- 29:47Speaker 2: he doesn't know what he's going to play again. They're
- 29:49Speaker 2: likely because their offense is struggling in so many ways,
- 29:51Speaker 2: to start sliding a little bit. Texans have, all of
- 29:54Speaker 2: a sudden, the big game against the Broncos this week.
- 29:56Speaker 2: If they win this one, I could see them sliding
- 29:58Speaker 2: into that wild card spot. And they just have this
- 30:00Speaker 2: keep suspicion because I think that quarterback is really good.
- 30:03Speaker 3: That we could see the Texans again this year.
- 30:06Speaker 1: I wouldn't be surprised. I certainly wouldn't be surprised, especially
- 30:09Speaker 1: the way things have been playing out and the schedule
- 30:11Speaker 1: that they have the back half is a lot easier
- 30:12Speaker 1: than what the Jaguars are gonna be.
- 30:14Speaker 3: You certain look at the Bengals too, you know.
- 30:15Speaker 2: I mean, they're coming in here and they struggled offensively yesterday,
- 30:18Speaker 2: and they're on the schedule. There's just it works with
- 30:23Speaker 2: the way that it rolls out that the Texans playing well,
- 30:25Speaker 2: and they have played well, could finding their way into
- 30:28Speaker 2: the wild card.
- 30:29Speaker 4: I'd be surprised they play again, But I get your point.
- 30:34Speaker 4: You may not be wrong with a hot take.
- 30:35Speaker 3: It's not a.
- 30:36Speaker 1: Mildly we're going hot today, we're hot takes. John was
- 30:39Speaker 1: your hot take?
- 30:41Speaker 4: I think I went with so mature and so good,
- 30:44Speaker 4: And what I mean by that is the difference between
- 30:48Speaker 4: this time last year and this team, maybe not this
- 30:51Speaker 4: time last year, but mid season two and six and
- 30:54Speaker 4: couldn't get out of their own way in terms of winning. Now.
- 31:00Speaker 4: At the top of the show, you asked me biggest
- 31:03Speaker 4: impression the will and the inevitability of the win.
- 31:07Speaker 1: On of.
- 31:10Speaker 4: It felt like they were going to figure out a
- 31:12Speaker 4: way to win that game. They were the better team,
- 31:17Speaker 4: they out gained them in yards, and yet once they
- 31:21Speaker 4: got down fourteen thirteen, they didn't blink. And next drive
- 31:25Speaker 4: they come back, big time players, made big time plays
- 31:28Speaker 4: and you're up seven and the next drive you're up ten.
- 31:31Speaker 4: They said, no, no, no, this is gonna be our game.
- 31:34Speaker 4: This is our time. That's impressive and to me, that's mature.
- 31:40Speaker 4: Sixteen of the last twenty two games they've won. Seven
- 31:44Speaker 4: of the last eight games they've won. They stay ahead
- 31:47Speaker 4: of teams. It's not always pretty, but again I keep
- 31:49Speaker 4: talking about Doug puts them in situations where their percentages
- 31:54Speaker 4: of winning the game are better late in the game.
- 31:56Speaker 4: And that's how you have to play in the NFL.
- 31:58Speaker 4: And they have become a sure team before our eyes.
- 32:01Speaker 4: For whatever they're not, they have a knack for winning.
- 32:04Speaker 4: And what I know, we've said that around the Jaguars
- 32:07Speaker 4: for years. Brian about the but boy is it refreshing
- 32:14Speaker 4: to see and cool to see and very interesting to watch.
- 32:17Speaker 3: The man it is quick thought.
- 32:20Speaker 2: Calvin Ridley had no catchers in the first half and
- 32:23Speaker 2: on those two drives where they went touchdown field goal
- 32:25Speaker 2: back to back to grab ten point lead. He had
- 32:27Speaker 2: four catches and the two point conversion, So that was
- 32:31Speaker 2: really encouraging to see that the quarterback and his number
- 32:35Speaker 2: one receiver were on the same page when the game
- 32:38Speaker 2: was on the line, when it mattered the most.
- 32:40Speaker 4: Well, and even when they've staggered offensively this season, they've
- 32:44Speaker 4: had a tendency to do that big game against the
- 32:46Speaker 4: Bills where they had big plays, second half falcons, big
- 32:49Speaker 4: plays and second half orand I mean, they come up
- 32:52Speaker 4: with big plays when they need to. You love it
- 32:56Speaker 4: to be more often and more consistent. And it was
- 32:59Speaker 4: funny in the locker room afterward. They felt offensively like
- 33:02Speaker 4: they move the ball at will. They really felt like
- 33:05Speaker 4: it could have been a thirty five point game for them. See,
- 33:10Speaker 4: you keep feeling like they're close, but short of being
- 33:13Speaker 4: like a juggernaut, I'd like to have the team that
- 33:16Speaker 4: makes big plays a key times right now, they're that.
- 33:18Speaker 1: And That's where I'm going with my hot take. I'm
- 33:20Speaker 1: gonna be a little bit nitpicky today, happy with the win,
- 33:23Speaker 1: but I still want more. I talked about that second
- 33:26Speaker 1: touchdown from them that getting the offensive pen the PI call,
- 33:29Speaker 1: and then going in getting that touchdown to Calvin Ridley
- 33:32Speaker 1: finding your best receiver when you needed that touchdown to
- 33:34Speaker 1: bounce back after the Texans has just gone and scored.
- 33:38Speaker 1: I want more from that, though. I want them to
- 33:41Speaker 1: score before the Texans get the ball back, so that
- 33:43Speaker 1: the game is out of reach, so we don't need
- 33:45Speaker 1: to Josh Allen massive sacks to set up that field goal.
- 33:48Speaker 1: I want them to close things out and they can,
- 33:50Speaker 1: and they're so close to doing it, whether it's you know,
- 33:53Speaker 1: getting that touchdown right before they have to take them
- 33:55Speaker 1: out right then or later on when I was saying
- 33:58Speaker 1: when they could have got that touchdown so that the
- 34:00Speaker 1: Texans got the ball back, it wasn't as close as
- 34:02Speaker 1: it was. They're right there and I know they can
- 34:05Speaker 1: do it, and that's why I am so excited to
- 34:08Speaker 1: see how they evolve in the last couple of games.
- 34:10Speaker 1: And these are the games so we've had circled down
- 34:12Speaker 1: the calendar and they take on the Ravens the Bengals.
- 34:13Speaker 1: I know they don't have Bro, but it's still going
- 34:15Speaker 1: to be a huge game. And I'm just excited because
- 34:17Speaker 1: I feel like they're right there right there.
- 34:19Speaker 2: Third and two, right, I mean, you've got to be
- 34:21Speaker 2: able to convert on third down or two, and that's
- 34:23Speaker 2: what they have struggled at. It's the worst conversion percentage
- 34:26Speaker 2: they have and that's the thing that has held the back.
- 34:28Speaker 2: By the way, I got to give them credit the
- 34:29Speaker 2: we're very good and third down yesterday. But if they
- 34:31Speaker 2: can convert on third and two on the coal line,
- 34:33Speaker 2: it's twenty to seven and a half.
- 34:34Speaker 3: It was first to goal. But you get my point.
- 34:37Speaker 2: Be able to run get that bawl two yards up
- 34:40Speaker 2: the field when you want two yards not six two.
- 34:43Speaker 3: And you have a completely different ballgame.
- 34:45Speaker 2: This is a young team and the coach keeps harping
- 34:48Speaker 2: on it, so I will too.
- 34:49Speaker 3: They haven't done anything yet.
- 34:51Speaker 2: That's the growth that we could see over the final
- 34:53Speaker 2: six weeks that might make all the difference between hosting
- 34:55Speaker 2: a playoff game and hosting two playoff games.
- 35:00Speaker 1: I like the sounds of that. Here's hoping all right.
- 35:02Speaker 1: Coming up after the break, we'll talk a little bit
- 35:03Speaker 1: about what we've got going on this week before Monday
- 35:06Speaker 1: Night football. Jag fans, if you want customize Daguars furniture

- 35:28Speaker 1: partner and supporter of the Jacksonville community as the official
- 35:30Speaker 1: community partner of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 35:45Speaker 5: I mean, very impressed for a rookie quarterback to come
- 35:48Speaker 5: in and you know, perform at this level. The way
- 35:54Speaker 5: he's thrown the ball, I just really admire his poise.
- 35:58Speaker 5: Quite frankly, He's he's putting the ball where he wants
- 36:03Speaker 5: to put it, meaning it's very accurate throws.
- 36:07Speaker 3: You know, he's got.
- 36:08Speaker 5: The ability to to escape and move and still keep
- 36:12Speaker 5: his eyes down the field. I think that's a that's
- 36:15Speaker 5: a unique trait for a young quarterback to be able
- 36:18Speaker 5: to do. You know, and they're shooting the ball down
- 36:24Speaker 5: the field. You know, they're making making big plays down
- 36:26Speaker 5: the field. And it's just what you see is it's
- 36:30Speaker 5: gaining it's gaining confidence each week in him and his team.
- 36:35Speaker 5: You know, that's a that's a reflection of coach, you know,
- 36:38Speaker 5: Ryan Demko, and just been really impressed with him.
- 36:45Speaker 1: Back here in Jags Am Big went over the Texans
- 36:47Speaker 1: yesterday a good battle between Trevor Lawrence and c. J. Stroud.
- 36:50Speaker 1: But now we get to turn to Monday Night Football
- 36:53Speaker 1: and they haven't had that. We haven't had that around
- 36:55Speaker 1: here in a while.
- 36:56Speaker 2: Right twenty and eleven December two thousand and eleven. It
- 36:59Speaker 2: was the first game after Shad was announced as the
- 37:03Speaker 2: prospective owner, and it was the first game after Wayne
- 37:06Speaker 2: we we fired Jack del Rio. So it was Mel
- 37:09Speaker 2: Tucker's first game as the interim coach, and in came
- 37:11Speaker 2: the then San Diego Chargers and walloped him, walloped him
- 37:15Speaker 2: thirty eight to fourteen. However, the Jaguars went one to
- 37:18Speaker 2: one on Monday Night Football that year because they beat
- 37:20Speaker 2: the Ravens in a four field goal win twelve to
- 37:22Speaker 2: seven on Monday Night Football back in late September early October.
- 37:26Speaker 4: Yeah, that was one of the more improbable Jaguars victories
- 37:28Speaker 4: of the last fifty. I mean, they played great in
- 37:31Speaker 4: that game, great atmosphere, and I expect an unbelievable atmosphere
- 37:34Speaker 4: on Monday. It's gonna be cool.
- 37:35Speaker 2: They're eight and seven all time in fifteen Monday Night
- 37:38Speaker 2: Football appearances, but they haven't been on Monday Night Football
- 37:42Speaker 2: in twelve years. So that's changing, right, I mean, it's
- 37:45Speaker 2: obviously changing this Monday. But I'm telling you the way
- 37:49Speaker 2: that the national media in the last twelve hours have
- 37:52Speaker 2: gravitated towards this CJ. Stroud Trevor Lawrence matchup, this is
- 37:56Speaker 2: going to be one of those games that the network say,
- 37:59Speaker 2: I want that one for Thursday, and I want that
- 38:00Speaker 2: one for Monday Night. I want that a primetime game.
- 38:03Speaker 2: So buckle up, you're gonna see the Jags in a
- 38:04Speaker 2: primetime schedule down. I know you're gonna hate it. That's
- 38:06Speaker 2: gonna be awesome.
- 38:07Speaker 3: It's not gonna be a lot of one o'clock kickoffs,
- 38:08Speaker 3: but the Jags are gonna be a team. They're on
- 38:10Speaker 3: Monday Night Football primetime.
- 38:13Speaker 1: We'll talk about it, I'm sure as this week goes on,
- 38:15Speaker 1: but it's gonna be a great environment. I'm very excited
- 38:17Speaker 1: that Monday Night football is coming back to Jacksonville, so
- 38:19Speaker 1: I'm sure all the fans are. It's gonna be a
- 38:21Speaker 1: good one against the Bengals. But until Wednesday, we'll see
- 38:24Speaker 1: you back here on Jags Am.
