- 0:00Speaker 1: Quote betrayed. Fierce backlash tonight from the MAGA base after
- 0:04Speaker 1: this surprising announcement with great fanfare from the Trump administration.
- 0:11Speaker 2: I'm also proud that today we're announcing or signing a
- 0:14Speaker 2: letter of acceptance to build a Katari Emi Air Force
- 0:17Speaker 2: facility at the Mountain Home Air Base in Idaho. The
- 0:21Speaker 2: location will be host a contingent of Katari F fifteen's
- 0:26Speaker 2: and pilots to enhance our combined training, increase lethality, interoperability.
- 0:32Speaker 1: He's sitting next to a member of the Katari royal
- 0:34Speaker 1: family there, Just to be clear. It's an announcement that
- 0:37Speaker 1: caught everyone off guard, the administration green lighting a plan
- 0:41Speaker 1: for Qatar to build an air force facility in Idaho,
- 0:45Speaker 1: and Trump's base is livid about it. Far right activist
- 0:48Speaker 1: Laura Lumer, who has Trump's air highly influential in Magaworld,
- 0:52Speaker 1: lashing out one of her posts, she says, what the
- 0:55Speaker 1: hell is going on? Why are we trying to train
- 0:57Speaker 1: more Muslims how to fly planes on US soil? Didn't
- 1:00Speaker 1: we already learn our lesson? Why are we encouraging more
- 1:03Speaker 1: Islamic infiltration of our country by the founders of Hamas
- 1:06Speaker 1: and the Muslim brotherhood. This is very bad for our
- 1:09Speaker 1: national security. And by the way, she had a lot
- 1:11Speaker 1: more where that came from. Our lumer in fact, has
- 1:14Speaker 1: fired off about forty mosts on X slamming decision. Forty
- 1:19Speaker 1: posts on this today. Watch them populate the screen. They're mad,
- 1:23Speaker 1: at one point writing this is where I draw the line,
- 1:26Speaker 1: I am not voting. In twenty twenty six, and then
- 1:29Speaker 1: Steve Bannon came out and told Newsweek there should never
- 1:32Speaker 1: be a military base of a foreign power on the
- 1:34Speaker 1: sacred soil of America. Now, to clarify, Katari is building
- 1:38Speaker 1: a facility to house a squadron of fifteen pilots and teams.
- 1:42Speaker 1: I mean, that's a lot of Katari military personnel on
- 1:44Speaker 1: an existing US base, And maybe there are serious security
- 1:48Speaker 1: concerns with that. But there are concerns there are when
- 1:53Speaker 1: it comes to corruption. For one, this is the same
- 1:56Speaker 1: country that gifted Trump the luxury jet, remember the jetport
- 2:00Speaker 1: A price tag on it was four hundred million dollars,
- 2:02Speaker 1: the jet that Trump wants to use as air force one, right,
- 2:04Speaker 1: that was Katar. And by the way, when it comes
- 2:07Speaker 1: to money, because it always does, Trump's family and the
- 2:10Speaker 1: Kataris are business partners now. Eric Trump recently unveiled plans
- 2:14Speaker 1: for a new golf course and a beachside resort in Qatar,
- 2:17Speaker 1: and Trump's son in law, Jared Kushner, has raised billions
- 2:21Speaker 1: of dollars from several Middle Eastern countries, including Qatar. Qatar
- 2:25Speaker 1: is also central to the Trump's Middle East crypto strategy,
- 2:27Speaker 1: which is now the bulk of his net worth, helped
- 2:30Speaker 1: make his children billionaires. Most recently, Qatar also made sure
- 2:34Speaker 1: to stay in Trump's good graces by rolling out the
- 2:36Speaker 1: red carpet for the president during his visit as president,
- 2:40Speaker 1: fighter jets escorted Air Force one into the airspace of Qatar.
- 2:44Speaker 1: On the ground, the spectacle had cyber trucks, horses, and camels,
- 2:49Speaker 1: a welcome for a royal But on top of all
- 2:52Speaker 1: of that, there is this. Trump just signed an executive
- 2:55Speaker 1: order defending Qatar's security, giving NATO level security guarantees to Qatar, which,
- 3:00Speaker 1: by the way, just to be clear about what that
- 3:02Speaker 1: could mean, I mean it should be obvious, but I
- 3:03Speaker 1: guess I should also note that Qatar has been hit
- 3:06Speaker 1: with missiles from Iran and Israel both in the past
- 3:08Speaker 1: three months. It's an incredible series of events. I mean,
- 3:12Speaker 1: by the way, in any case, it's an incredible series events.
- 3:14Speaker 1: To lay all that out, I can't even believe him
- 3:16Speaker 1: saying it, and this is real, but it is. But
- 3:18Speaker 1: then there's also this what Trump actually said in the
- 3:21Speaker 1: past on the record about the Kataris before they showered
- 3:24Speaker 1: him with gifts and money.
- 3:27Speaker 2: The nation of Qatar, unfortunately has historically been a funder
- 3:32Speaker 2: of terrorism at a very high level.
- 3:38Speaker 1: And that right there is a big part of why
- 3:40Speaker 1: MAGA is breaking with Trump over this Katari Air Force
- 3:44Speaker 1: facility in the state of Idaho. But by the way,
- 3:47Speaker 1: this is not the only crack splitting the MAGA world.
- 3:50Speaker 1: This was today, But Joe Rogan has spoken out tearing
- 3:54Speaker 1: into Trump's immigration policy.
- 3:57Speaker 2: Let's just talk about the immigration thing. The way it
- 4:00Speaker 2: looks is horrific. It looks when you're just arresting people
- 4:05Speaker 2: in front of their kids and just normal regular people
- 4:08Speaker 2: that have been here for twenty years.
- 4:09Speaker 3: Yeah, that everybody who has a heart can't get.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Along with that. Now, everybody who has a heart sees
- 4:17Speaker 1: that and goes that can't be right.
- 4:19Speaker 2: They can't be right. They can be the only way to.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Do this, Tucker Carlson going after the administration for using
- 4:25Speaker 1: Charlie Kirk's assassination to try to silence critics.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Because they can tell you what to say, they're telling
- 4:34Speaker 2: you what to think. There is nothing they can't do
- 4:37Speaker 2: to you because they don't consider you human, they don't
- 4:39Speaker 2: believe you.
- 4:40Speaker 3: Have a soul.
- 4:42Speaker 1: And when it comes to Jeffrey Epstein, Marjorie Taylor Green
- 4:45Speaker 1: slamming a statement by the White House that labeled any
- 4:48Speaker 1: support for the release of the Epstein files as a
- 4:51Speaker 1: quote hostile act.
- 4:54Speaker 3: The hostile act has been against these women for so
- 4:57Speaker 3: many years now, for in the style act is covering
- 5:01Speaker 3: up for Jeffrey Epstein and everyone else that's been involved
- 5:05Speaker 3: in this, and that's the real hostile act.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Kristen Holmes is out front, live outside the White House,
- 5:12Speaker 1: and you know, Kristin, obviously we're putting in the context
- 5:14Speaker 1: of so many issues where there are fault lines. But tonight,
- 5:18Speaker 1: real real anger in MAGA world about this latest announcement.
- 5:23Speaker 1: What are you learning?
- 5:24Speaker 4: Yeah, there is real anger about that. I do want
- 5:26Speaker 4: to talk about the cracks overall because I actually think
- 5:28Speaker 4: what we just learned moments ago, which is not about
- 5:31Speaker 4: the Air Force base, was actually about these federal worker
- 5:34Speaker 4: layoffs is going to cause real strain on the relationship
- 5:36Speaker 4: between the administration and a lot of Republicans on Capitol Hill,
- 5:39Speaker 4: because we've just learned into court filing that more than
- 5:42Speaker 4: four thousand federal workers were laid off today. And just
- 5:45Speaker 4: to give you an idea of what that looks like,
- 5:46Speaker 4: it's about three hundred and fifteen workers at the Department
- 5:49Speaker 4: of Commerce, four hundred and sixty six workers at the
- 5:51Speaker 4: Department of Education, one hundred and eighty seven at Department
- 5:54Speaker 4: of Energy. That list goes on and on. A couple
- 5:56Speaker 4: of things to point out here, there were already reservations
- 6:00Speaker 4: among Republicans as to how this shutdown was being handled.
- 6:03Speaker 4: We've heard them speak out about it, the fact that
- 6:04Speaker 4: the House has not been called into session, the fact
- 6:07Speaker 4: that these workers pay was being threatened. We heard President
- 6:10Speaker 4: Trump saying some workers didn't deserve to get paid, and
- 6:13Speaker 4: at one point saying they were going to look at
- 6:15Speaker 4: the law differently, the law he signed in twenty nineteen
- 6:18Speaker 4: to say that they wouldn't have to pay those furloughed workers.
- 6:21Speaker 4: But now you have a complete restructuring of the federal workforce.
- 6:25Speaker 4: Of course, we know that the president has extended powers
- 6:28Speaker 4: during a government shutdown, but it's really unprecedented to use
- 6:32Speaker 4: them in this way to restructure the government essentially in
- 6:35Speaker 4: your image. Because what we know from Russell Vote, the
- 6:37Speaker 4: head of the Office of Management and Budget, and from
- 6:40Speaker 4: President Trump is that they want to cut democratic programs,
- 6:42Speaker 4: they want to cut programs that don't align with President Trump.
- 6:46Speaker 4: And now we're learning how many people lost their jobs
- 6:50Speaker 4: just today, and that was a real point of contention
- 6:53Speaker 4: for a lot of Republicans. They didn't like the threats
- 6:55Speaker 4: about money, they didn't like the threats of layoffs, and
- 6:58Speaker 4: now you're seeing the actual layoffs and how this impacts
- 7:01Speaker 4: the framing of this shutdown is really going to be
- 7:04Speaker 4: what's interesting to watch because it does not seem as
- 7:07Speaker 4: though any side is backing down, even though you've got
- 7:09Speaker 4: this real uneasiness among Republicans when it comes to this
- 7:13Speaker 4: kind of behavior.
