- 0:11Speaker 1: wr Hey, we'll take some calls. Eight hundred three to
- 0:17Speaker 1: two one zero seven ten is the number. Let's go
- 0:19Speaker 1: to Dante in New Jersey. Dante, how you doing.
- 0:23Speaker 2: I'm doing all right. I got a question maybe somebody
- 0:26Speaker 2: can answer. These oil producers in America. I think they're
- 0:31Speaker 2: ripping us off because they're not paying one dime more
- 0:34Speaker 2: to produce the oil in this country than they were
- 0:37Speaker 2: three weeks ago.
- 0:38Speaker 3: And we can we.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Produced more oil than anybody else in the world, and
- 0:42Speaker 2: some of the oil comes off of our own sedral land,
- 0:44Speaker 2: which belongs to us.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Yeah, sometimes it's the oil companies. More often it's the governments,
- 0:48Speaker 1: the local state governments. You know, gas when it was
- 0:53Speaker 1: two dollars and thirty cents everywhere in America. Still six
- 0:56Speaker 1: dollars in California, Still four dollars in parts in New York.
- 0:59Speaker 1: That's because the governments just tax it to death, tax
- 1:03Speaker 1: it to death. You know, when you go to the
- 1:06Speaker 1: pump and it's the let's say four dollars about twelve
- 1:09Speaker 1: cents of that goes to the oil company. The rest
- 1:11Speaker 1: is all taxes and fees. Let's go to Joe in Mattawan,
- 1:15Speaker 1: New Jersey. Joe, how you doing.
- 1:18Speaker 4: Well? Thank you? Mark. I enjoyed your piece just before
- 1:21Speaker 4: the break on alcohol consumption of the demographic group below
- 1:25Speaker 4: thirty five. My question to you is, if they're not
- 1:28Speaker 4: drinking and going to happy hours, what are they doing
- 1:31Speaker 4: with that time?
- 1:32Speaker 1: They're staying home, they're looking at their phone, they're meeting
- 1:34Speaker 1: each other online. They don't need to go to a
- 1:37Speaker 1: happy hour, they don't need to go.
- 1:38Speaker 3: To a bar.
- 1:40Speaker 1: It's kind of sad. I mean, everything's moving to online
- 1:44Speaker 1: and not in person.
- 1:46Speaker 4: But okay, thank you Mark.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Yeah. Now, if you're in the middle of Manhattan and
- 1:51Speaker 1: you go to you'll see a big bar crowd in
- 1:53Speaker 1: the middle of Manhattan. But that's Manhattan, although not as
- 1:55Speaker 1: big as it used to be. But if you're out
- 1:57Speaker 1: in the suburbs or in other places, you really don't
- 1:59Speaker 1: see the happy hour crowd is a lot, a lot
- 2:02Speaker 1: smaller than it used to be. Let's go to Vincent
- 2:04Speaker 1: and Brooklyn. Vincent.
- 2:05Speaker 3: How you doing, good morning, Mark, Mark. I'm okay. I
- 2:08Speaker 3: believe part of the problem with the repeat crime in
- 2:12Speaker 3: the Bronx is the fact that you have these uh
- 2:16Speaker 3: you have a whacked out liberal district attorney up there,
- 2:21Speaker 3: and also a lot of the judges. There's one judge
- 2:23Speaker 3: in particular, she's she's like Bruce Wright of the of
- 2:28Speaker 3: the seventies and eighties that was in Tom Wolf's book
- 2:35Speaker 3: exactly exactly mark this law that Mondomi wants to pass
- 2:41Speaker 3: about lowering the threshold of having a with the inheritance tax,
- 2:46Speaker 3: that's a real can of worms if you really look
- 2:49Speaker 3: into it. Because let's say a person owns a business
- 2:53Speaker 3: and it's it's not traded publicly. Let's say a person
- 2:57Speaker 3: who has a real tony uh card dealership that could
- 3:02Speaker 3: easily be worth over a million dollars. First, even a
- 3:05Speaker 3: small business to be worth over a million dollars these
- 3:09Speaker 3: days isn't very hard, especially if it's a small building
- 3:13Speaker 3: attached with the business. And if this person wants to
- 3:17Speaker 3: pass that on to his kids, his grandkids, whoever, a friend.
- 3:22Speaker 3: If these people don't come up with the inheritance tax
- 3:26Speaker 3: on that, the city could confiscate the property and everything.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that's the idea. I think that's what man.
- 3:31Speaker 5: Donne's uptodes, that's what he said, because he wants.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Inheritance tax doesn't kick in till seven million. He wants
- 3:36Speaker 1: to make it seven hundred and fifty thousand, which means
- 3:38Speaker 1: for most people, if they die the house, the kids
- 3:41Speaker 1: will need to sell it to pay the inheritance tax
- 3:44Speaker 1: and they.
- 3:44Speaker 5: And that's going to really really hurt the black and
- 3:48Speaker 5: Hispanic middle class and even the white middle class, because
- 3:53Speaker 5: that's into generational wealth. These people worked all their lives
- 3:57Speaker 5: to finally pay off this house and they want to
- 4:01Speaker 5: pass it on to their kids or their grandkids. And
- 4:04Speaker 5: he's not even saying per individual who's in the will,
- 4:08Speaker 5: wol who's going to inherit this. This is the total
- 4:11Speaker 5: value of the estate that's nothing these days, seven hundred
- 4:15Speaker 5: and fifty thousand dollars. So at what about a company
- 4:20Speaker 5: like the Trump Corporation. Now I don't know if it's
- 4:23Speaker 5: publicly traded, but I'm just using that as an example.
- 4:26Speaker 5: What is he going to come and confiscate big companies
- 4:31Speaker 5: and everything that are still helped privately.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Yeah, it's ridiculous, Vincent, great call, Thanks for calling. Yeah,
- 4:36Speaker 1: the real problem is in New York City and they's
- 4:40Speaker 1: talking about fifty percent tax. If you die. Let's say
- 4:43Speaker 1: it's a seven hundred thousand dollars house, the tax will
- 4:45Speaker 1: be three hundred and fifty thousand. Many many cases, they
- 4:48Speaker 1: wouldn't be able to pass the house along to their kids.
- 4:50Speaker 1: The kids would have to sell it to pay the
- 4:53Speaker 1: inheritance tax. And first of all, they arguing against inheritance tax.
- 4:58Speaker 1: This money's already been taxed. When the person earned it,
- 5:01Speaker 1: they paid tax on it. It's already taxed. The money.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Once you pay all the tax and it's yours, it
- 5:07Speaker 1: shouldn't be taxed again. Anyway. It's a crazy, crazy, ridiculous
- 5:11Speaker 1: Momdani proposal. Hey, when we come back, Jimmy Fayla on
- 5:15Speaker 1: every night at nine here on WR. It's very funny.
- 5:17Speaker 1: We'll talk to Jimmy Fayler next on seven to ten
- 5:20Speaker 1: wor
