• 0:00
  Speaker 1: Well come.
• 0:00
Speaker 2: It is Verdict with Ted Cruz Weekend Review, Ben Ferguson
• 0:04
Speaker 2: with you, and here are the big stories that we
• 0:06
Speaker 2: talked about this week that you may have missed. First up,
• 0:09
Speaker 2: Donald Trump says no longer will America be the piggy
• 0:12
Speaker 2: bank for the United Nations, and now they're freaking out
• 0:15
Speaker 2: over funding. We'll explain exactly what's changed and how much
• 0:19
Speaker 2: money it could save you.
• 0:21
Speaker 1: Also, a major media.
• 0:23
Speaker 2: Merger involving Netflix, and it could also mean foreign money
• 0:27
Speaker 2: coming in from overseas from the Middle East if Netflix
• 0:31
Speaker 2: doesn't get the deal, So what does it mean for
• 0:34
Speaker 2: you as a consumer. We'll have that for you as well.
• 0:37
Speaker 2: And finally, the Save America Voting Act. It's a very
• 0:41
Speaker 2: big deal to secure our elections, and every Democrat in
• 0:45
Speaker 2: Congress seems to be against it. Why we'll break it down.
• 0:49
Speaker 2: It's the weekend Review and it starts right now. There
• 0:52
Speaker 2: is a big scandal that is taking place in the
• 0:55
Speaker 2: United Nations. But it's a type of scandal that you
• 0:58
Speaker 2: and I should love and celebrate, and that is the
• 1:03
Speaker 2: UN is angry right now that there's not enough money
• 1:07
Speaker 2: for them to do all their their woke crap all
• 1:10
Speaker 2: over the world the simplest way I can describe it.
• 1:13
Speaker 2: And they're really upset because the number one fund of
• 1:15
Speaker 2: the UN has been the United States of America. Donald
• 1:18
Speaker 2: Trump has said no more, We're not gonna just give
• 1:22
Speaker 2: you this blank check and be and fund all this stuff.
• 1:25
Speaker 2: And now the UN Segregary General is freaking out and
• 1:28
Speaker 2: saying we need desperate money. Now our things are going
• 1:31
Speaker 2: to have to be shut down. This on top of
• 1:34
Speaker 2: the fact that Trump has also taken the US out
• 1:37
Speaker 2: of sixty six globalist organizations and treaties as well, saving
• 1:42
Speaker 2: American taxpayer dollars are being wasted.
• 1:44
Speaker 3: So you talked about cutting off funding for as you said,
• 1:47
Speaker 3: quote woke crap all over the world. I think that's
• 1:50
Speaker 3: the new motto of the United Nations. The United Nations
• 1:54
Speaker 3: work woke crap all over the world. Let me read
• 1:57
Speaker 3: from our article in Breitbart. Quote the United Nations is
• 2:01
Speaker 3: going broke and needs member nations to stump up cash,
• 2:05
Speaker 3: lots of it. That is the plea from Secretary of
• 2:07
Speaker 3: General Antonio Gutierres, who fears the globalist body is at
• 2:11
Speaker 3: risk of quote imminent financial collapse due to their member
• 2:15
Speaker 3: states not paying their dues. The former leader of the
• 2:18
Speaker 3: Portuguese Socialist Party said Friday, the UN faces a financial
• 2:22
Speaker 3: crisis which was quote deepening, threatening program delivery, and money
• 2:27
Speaker 3: could run out as soon as July, leaving the unaccountable
• 2:30
Speaker 3: globalist cabal destitute. Such is the financial drama unfolding at
• 2:35
Speaker 3: UN headquarters in Geneva. Signs of a warning situation have
• 2:38
Speaker 3: reportedly been put up everywhere in an almost desperate attempt
• 2:42
Speaker 3: to save cash. The escalators are regularly turned off and
• 2:47
Speaker 3: the heating turned down. The BBC reports, by the way,
• 2:50
Speaker 3: how much money do you save turning the escalators off?
• 2:53
Speaker 3: Like like that's rightly exactly, that's a little amazing. So
• 2:56
Speaker 3: Gutieras sent a missive out to all one hundred and
• 2:59
Speaker 3: ninety three members state outlining his spheares and pleading that
• 3:02
Speaker 3: they had to honor to their mandatory payments or overhaul
• 3:05
Speaker 3: the organization's financial rules to avoid collapse. It comes after
• 3:09
Speaker 3: the UN's largest contributor to the United States, refused to
• 3:12
Speaker 3: contribute to its regular and peacekeeping budgets and withdrew from
• 3:15
Speaker 3: several agencies it called a quote waste of tax pay dollars.
• 3:19
Speaker 3: These include the UN's Population Agency and the UN Treaty
• 3:22
Speaker 3: that establishes international climate negotiations. And I got to say,
• 3:27
Speaker 3: reading this, it reminds me of I actually think one
• 3:30
Speaker 3: of the funniest movies ever made was Team America World Police.
• 3:34
Speaker 3: You ever see Team America? Oh yeah, yeah, Okay, it's
• 3:37
Speaker 3: absolutely hysterical. By the way, I'm going to confess a
• 3:40
Speaker 3: really stupid thing I did so several years ago. I
• 3:43
Speaker 3: was vacationing with Heidi and with the girls and with
• 3:46
Speaker 3: my in laws, Heidie's parents, and they have a house
• 3:49
Speaker 3: boat on Lake Powell. Lake Powell is an amazing Have
• 3:52
Speaker 3: you ever been Lake Powell? I have not.
• 3:54
Speaker 1: You've told me about it. It's on my bucket list.
• 3:56
Speaker 3: Now, like Holy Cow. So Lake Powell is the southern
• 4:00
Speaker 3: part of the Grand Canyon and basically envision the Grand
• 4:03
Speaker 3: Canyon dammed up and filled halfway with water. That is
• 4:06
Speaker 3: Lake Powell. And so my in laws for thirty years
• 4:10
Speaker 3: have had a houseboat there. And you go out on
• 4:11
Speaker 3: the houseboat and that they tow, you tow a ski boat,
• 4:15
Speaker 3: you tow typically one or two jet skis. You go
• 4:18
Speaker 3: out into the water and it's amazing. So my in
• 4:21
Speaker 3: laws are are not fancy, so their houseboat does not
• 4:25
Speaker 3: have a working air conditioner. So you go out, typically
• 4:28
Speaker 3: in the middle of the summer, which's you know, on
• 4:30
Speaker 3: hundred and ten degrees no ac You sleep on the
• 4:34
Speaker 3: roof of the houseboat under the stars. By the way,
• 4:36
Speaker 3: your your cell phone doesn't work at all, you have
• 4:40
Speaker 3: no internet, and you know, you get up and jump
• 4:42
Speaker 3: in the water. You bathe in the lake, you go
• 4:45
Speaker 3: out water skiing. You get on a jet ski and
• 4:47
Speaker 3: you can go down these finger canyons. Ben I got
• 4:50
Speaker 3: to say, you go down a finger canyon is breathtaking.
• 4:52
Speaker 3: You can go down it where on each side you
• 4:55
Speaker 3: can put your hand out and touch the side of
• 4:58
  Speaker 3: the cliff.
• 5:00
Speaker 1: It's on the bucket list.
• 5:01
Speaker 3: It goes a couple hundred feet of just red sandstone
• 5:05
Speaker 3: and you're in this slivery. You can go in far
• 5:07
Speaker 3: enough that you've got to jump off the jet ski,
• 5:09
Speaker 3: swim around and turn the jet ski around because you
• 5:12
Speaker 3: don't have a room to turn her around. So it's
• 5:14
Speaker 3: an awesome thing to do. So one time a decade ago,
• 5:18
Speaker 3: Heidi and I are going out with their parents and
• 5:20
Speaker 3: we decided so they do have a little TV on
• 5:23
Speaker 3: the houseboat with a DVR player, and we decided to bring.
• 5:27
Speaker 1: I know where this is going. All right, I'm with you.
• 5:30
Speaker 3: Now, keep going a DVD of Team America. Because Heidi
• 5:35
Speaker 3: doesn't like movies very much. I love movies, like I
• 5:37
Speaker 3: grew up. My parents both love movies, so like I
• 5:40
Speaker 3: would go out with my mom and dad and we'd
• 5:41
Speaker 3: go see movies every week, and we'd love movies. Heidi
• 5:44
Speaker 3: grew up she never went to the movies, but I
• 5:46
Speaker 3: took her to see Team America and she laughed so
• 5:49
Speaker 3: hard she couldn't breathe. So they're like, all right, let's
• 5:52
Speaker 3: bring it. And this was I got to say an
• 5:55
Speaker 3: incredibly stupid thing to do, Ben, because I forgot that
• 6:00
Speaker 3: Team America. It's okay, so it's puppets and it's done
• 6:04
Speaker 3: by the South Park guys, but every third or fourth
• 6:09
Speaker 3: word is a curse word. I mean it's it is
• 6:13
Speaker 3: a relentless and I'm sitting there playing this. We turned
• 6:17
Speaker 3: it on with my in laws and they're just looking
• 6:20
Speaker 3: in utter horror as it's just curse, curse, curse, curse, curse.
• 6:25
Speaker 3: We didn't watch ten minutes of it before we turned
• 6:27
Speaker 3: it off and said, oh, sorry about that. I really
• 6:28
Speaker 3: got to apologize like that.
• 6:31
Speaker 1: Now here's my question though, did your wife do it?
• 6:33
Speaker 2: My wife would do that scenario, act like she's shocked
• 6:36
Speaker 2: that you brought this movie and showed it. Or did
• 6:37
Speaker 2: she laugh as hard as she laughed when y'all were
• 6:39
Speaker 2: at the movie together. That's the real question.
• 6:41
Speaker 3: She sort of laughed, But we remembered how funny the
• 6:44
Speaker 3: movie was, but we hadn't internalized. There's just if you
• 6:49
Speaker 3: deleted every profanity in the movie, the movie shorter look
• 6:54
Speaker 3: like it. It just and And part of what I
• 6:57
Speaker 3: like about Team America is it mocks both sides. So
• 7:00
  Speaker 3: it's not a conservative movie. It's not a liberal movie.
• 7:02
Speaker 3: Like it makes fun of both sides in a way
• 7:05
Speaker 3: that is really funny. But I don't advise, particularly if
• 7:10
Speaker 3: you know my in laws. I mean, I mean they
• 7:12
Speaker 3: were Christian missionaries. They're wonderful people, but they don't curse,
• 7:17
Speaker 3: and they may have seen more curse words in those
• 7:21
Speaker 3: ten minutes we played than they had in the past
• 7:23
Speaker 3: ten years before that. So my whole point of this
• 7:27
Speaker 3: is there's a scene in Team America where you have
• 7:32
Speaker 3: part of the theory is that Kim Jong un is
• 7:35
Speaker 3: the dictator of North Korea, which is of course true,
• 7:38
Speaker 3: but he's a puppet in Team America, and he is
• 7:43
Speaker 3: seeking to attack the world, and it's all Team America.
• 7:47
Speaker 3: World police is trying to fight Kim Jong un. But anyway,
• 7:51
Speaker 3: the United Nations sends Hans Blicks, who Hans Blicks. Most
• 7:57
Speaker 3: of our listeners are too young to remember, but Hans
• 7:59
Speaker 3: Blick was a weapons inspector for the United Nations. And
• 8:05
Speaker 3: the UN sends Hans Blicks to Kim Jong Un to
• 8:08
Speaker 3: go tell him to stop developing weapons of mass destruction,
• 8:12
Speaker 3: and Kim Jong Un ends up feeding the puppet Hans
• 8:16
Speaker 3: Blicks to sharks who eat him and and and at
• 8:19
Speaker 3: one point, right before he gets fed to sharks, Hans
• 8:22
Speaker 3: Blick says, you must stop what you're doing. And if
• 8:25
Speaker 3: you do not stop what you're doing, the United Nations
• 8:27
Speaker 3: is going to send you a really stern letter.
• 8:31
  Speaker 1: YEA saccurate.
• 8:34
Speaker 3: As I'm reading the cries from the Secretary General, I
• 8:39
Speaker 3: keep envisioning Hans Blicks in Team America saying give us money,
• 8:44
Speaker 3: or we will send you a really stern letter saying
• 8:47
  Speaker 3: give us money.
• 8:48
Speaker 1: It's it's it's entirely accurate, exactly where we are.
• 8:51
Speaker 2: And that's why the part about this is so funny
• 8:54
Speaker 2: is the President said he was going to do it.
• 8:55
Speaker 1: You elect me. I'm gonna get rid of all this stuff.
• 8:57
Speaker 1: I'm gonna get rid of the wasting of your your hours.
• 9:01
Speaker 1: And it's not just the un it's freaking out.
• 9:03
Speaker 2: Now you've got this list of sixty six globalist organizations
• 9:07
Speaker 2: and treaties that he's also know.
• 9:09
Speaker 1: By the way, we're not giving you money there either.
• 9:12
Speaker 3: Yeah, so the list of sixty six. By the way,
• 9:14
Speaker 3: So as Ben and I were prepping for this show,
• 9:16
Speaker 3: we're talking about the list of sixty six and I
• 9:18
Speaker 3: asked him, I said, Hey, what are the sixty six
• 9:20
Speaker 3: And he's like, I don't know, And you sent me
• 9:23
Speaker 3: this whole document. I'm not going to read them all,
• 9:25
Speaker 3: but I'm just going to read some of the topics.
• 9:27
Speaker 3: So number one is the twenty four to seven Carbon
• 9:29
Speaker 3: Free Energy Compact. We withdrew from that. The Colombo Plan Council,
• 9:32
Speaker 3: the Commission on Environmental Cooperation, Education Cannot Wait, the European
• 9:37
Speaker 3: Center of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats, the Forum of
• 9:41
Speaker 3: European National Highway Research Laboratories, the Freedom Online Coalition, the
• 9:45
Speaker 3: Global Community Engagement Resilience Fund, the Global counter Terrorism Forum,
• 9:49
Speaker 3: the Global Forum on cyber expertise. That's the first ten.
• 9:53
Speaker 3: They're another fifty six that come.
• 9:55
Speaker 2: I mean, now you know why he said we're gonna
• 9:57
Speaker 2: get rid of all of them, right, like, we're just
• 9:59
Speaker 2: not going to fund this stuff.
• 10:00
Speaker 1: Many of them, by the way, are like people. They
• 10:02
Speaker 1: hate America on top of that.
• 10:04
Speaker 3: That's right, all right, let me read the last ten,
• 10:06
Speaker 3: So numbers fifty six through sixty six. We withdrew from
• 10:10
Speaker 3: the UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women.
• 10:13
Speaker 3: We withdrew from the UNA Framework Convention on Climate Change,
• 10:16
Speaker 3: the UN Human Settlements Program, the UN Institute for Training
• 10:20
Speaker 3: and Research, UN Oceans, UN Population Fund, UN Register of
• 10:24
Speaker 3: Conventional Arms, the UN System Chief Executives Board for Coordination,
• 10:28
Speaker 3: the UN System Staff College, the UN Water and the
• 10:30
Speaker 3: UN University, all of that. Look, you and I and
• 10:34
Speaker 3: most people on planet Earth have no idea what any.
• 10:36
  Speaker 4: Of these do.
• 10:37
Speaker 3: But we were sending millions of dollars to this garbage.
• 10:41
Speaker 3: And there is a reason why Hans Blicks is floating
• 10:45
Speaker 3: in the water having been eaten by sharks from Kim
• 10:48
Speaker 3: Jong Un because stern letters from the United Nations don't
• 10:53
Speaker 3: do a whole lot.
• 10:54
Speaker 1: Now, if you want to hear the rest of this conversation.
• 10:56
Speaker 2: You can go back and listen to the full podcast
• 10:59
Speaker 2: from earlier this WEE week.
• 11:01
Speaker 1: Now onto story number two.
• 11:03
Speaker 2: A very interesting media merger and antitrust conversation that took
• 11:09
Speaker 2: place in Washington, DC. You came in and asked questions
• 11:13
Speaker 2: on this. Of the two companies that were there talking
• 11:16
Speaker 2: about this, I actually and I rarely do this, and
• 11:19
  Speaker 2: I don't even think I told you this. I wrote
• 11:21
Speaker 2: an op ed about this for Foxnews dot com.
• 11:24
Speaker 1: You can go and read it there.
• 11:25
Speaker 2: But what I was talking about was from a national
• 11:27
Speaker 2: security standpoint. In my headline was Reagan would tell Americans
• 11:31
Speaker 2: to watch this Netflix merger hearing closely, and I said,
• 11:35
Speaker 2: here's why I went through. My biggest concern with this
• 11:40
Speaker 2: merger is one of safety and security, because I want
• 11:43
Speaker 2: to know that the majority of things are being made
• 11:45
Speaker 2: or being made in America, that China doesn't get influence
• 11:47
Speaker 2: over us. And that's what the questions I asked. What
• 11:51
Speaker 2: really worried me about this merger was how much foreign
• 11:54
Speaker 2: money they're saying, and it's in the billions that could
• 11:57
Speaker 2: be coming into this deal from the Middle East. That
• 12:01
Speaker 2: concerned me as well. You asked a lot of questions
• 12:04
Speaker 2: about this, and there's also a lot of conservatives like
• 12:07
Speaker 2: you and I that are frustrated with some of the
• 12:08
Speaker 2: programming that Netflix have. But at least I'm like, they're
• 12:11
Speaker 2: wanting to keep this production in America and they're wanting
• 12:15
Speaker 2: to expand it in America, Whereas on the other side
• 12:17
Speaker 2: of it, my concerns to Paramount is they're taking foreign
• 12:20
Speaker 2: money from the Middle East. I don't like that influence,
• 12:22
Speaker 2: and I certainly don't want it in China to take
• 12:24
  Speaker 2: influence as well.
• 12:26
Speaker 3: Yeah, this is a massive merger. It's eighty three billion
• 12:29
Speaker 3: dollars and I'm deeply concerned about it. And so we
• 12:33
Speaker 3: had a hearing this week in the Senate Juiciary Committee
• 12:36
Speaker 3: with the CEO of Netflix and a senior executive from
• 12:38
Speaker 3: Warner Brothers. Give a listen to the questioning that I
• 12:41
Speaker 3: asked them. I and many others on this committee have
• 12:45
Speaker 3: been concerned for a long time about censorship, censorship in
• 12:48
Speaker 3: the media, and censorship in Hollywood. They're already seems to
• 12:55
Speaker 3: be only one acceptable political Do you actually want to
• 12:59
Speaker 3: ask either? We all watch the Grammys this week.
• 13:03
Speaker 5: I did not just the tail end of it.
• 13:05
Speaker 3: One simple question, are we right now on stolen land?
• 13:12
Speaker 6: I have no idea the history of this land of
• 13:14
Speaker 6: other where we're sitting today, nor do I send.
• 13:16
Speaker 3: Her so that speaks volumes that neither of you are
• 13:19
Speaker 3: willing to say, hell, no, we're not on stolen land.
• 13:22
Speaker 3: And I will say it's a Grammys when you see
• 13:24
Speaker 3: an entertainer say nobody is illegal while we're on stolen land,
• 13:27
Speaker 3: and then you see entertainers leap to their feet clapping
• 13:30
Speaker 3: so excitedly at the notion that America is fundamentally illegitimate.
• 13:36
Speaker 3: It starts to convey that the entertainment world is deeply corrupt.
• 13:41
Speaker 3: And I will point out that same singer who says
• 13:43
Speaker 3: no one is illegal on stolen land promptly went back
• 13:46
Speaker 3: to her fourteen million dollar mansion and somehow that stolen
• 13:49
Speaker 3: land she wasn't concerned about just the United States of America. Look,
• 13:54
Speaker 3: Netflix has long been a left wing company. Your founder,
• 14:01
Speaker 3: Read Hastings, is one of the biggest Democrat donors in
• 14:03
Speaker 3: the country, including giving millions recently to the massive gerrymander
• 14:08
Speaker 3: in California, making it one of the most gerrymandered states
• 14:11
Speaker 3: in the Union. Because your founder desperately wants a Democrat
• 14:14
Speaker 3: House of Representatives. Susan Rice from the Obama White House
• 14:19
Speaker 3: is on your board of directors. You guys gave fifty
• 14:21
Speaker 3: million dollars to the Obamas, as far as I can tell,
• 14:24
Speaker 3: to produce no discernible content whatsoever. How would you tell
• 14:28
Speaker 3: a Texan sitting at home to feel comfortable. CNN is
• 14:32
Speaker 3: already a dumpster fire. There's nothing resembling objectivity, there's nothing
• 14:37
Speaker 3: resembling journalism anymore. How are people at home, how should
• 14:43
Speaker 3: they feel even remotely confident that if this merger happens,
• 14:47
Speaker 3: the combined entity would not simply be a propaganda outlet
• 14:51
Speaker 3: pushing one particular political view with much greater market power
• 14:56
  Speaker 3: than you have.
• 14:56
Speaker 1: Now, Well, so we would fail.
• 14:59
Speaker 6: We would fail up pushing a political view or propaganda.
• 15:02
Speaker 6: We deliver entertainment to consumers. Our consumers see our business
• 15:07
Speaker 6: pretty much the way they see the America. About forty
• 15:10
Speaker 6: percent conservative, about forty percent liberal, about twenty percent don't know.
• 15:14
Speaker 6: And they but when we turn on when they turn
• 15:16
Speaker 6: on TV, they're tuned in to be entertained. And if
• 15:18
Speaker 6: we fail to entertain them by trying to promote propaganda
• 15:22
Speaker 6: or something or something anything other than entertainment.
• 15:24
  Speaker 1: We fail.
• 15:25
Speaker 3: Mister Campbell's same question to you.
• 15:28
Speaker 7: We have a very broad range of content across not
• 15:31
Speaker 7: only HBO Max, but all of our platforms, and that
• 15:35
Speaker 7: we need to appeal to all audiences. Our content range
• 15:39
Speaker 7: is from hard knocks from the NFL to shows like
• 15:42
Speaker 7: Deadliest Catch and gold Rush. It's a very broad collection
• 15:46
Speaker 7: of programming that represents broad interests across America.
• 15:49
Speaker 3: You have a wide range of programming on HBO. Name
• 15:52
Speaker 3: one program that is designed to appeal to conservatives.
• 15:55
Speaker 5: We don't design our programming to appeal to I can.
• 15:57
Speaker 3: Think of a lot that are designed to go to liberals.
• 15:59
  Speaker 3: Name one.
• 16:01
Speaker 5: None of us show they don't.
• 16:02
Speaker 7: Designed to go to any political group there is designed
• 16:06
  Speaker 7: to appeal to.
• 16:07
Speaker 3: Really, John Oliver, is not designed to appeal to a
• 16:09
  Speaker 3: certain group.
• 16:11
  Speaker 5: It's a program that for which there's.
• 16:14
Speaker 3: Just said, none of your program is it. Let me
• 16:17
Speaker 3: ask you, do you think CNN is fair and balanced?
• 16:19
Speaker 5: I do believe CNN is a fair.
• 16:21
Speaker 3: So when CNN showed riots and fires behind them and
• 16:24
Speaker 3: you put a chiron mostly peaceful but fiery protests, was
• 16:29
  Speaker 3: that journalism?
• 16:31
  Speaker 5: Sir?
• 16:31
Speaker 7: I'm not involved with CNN, and in fact they're not
• 16:34
Speaker 7: part of this transaction.
• 16:36
Speaker 5: But they have an.
• 16:37
Speaker 7: Independent editorial board, they have independent news gathering.
• 16:41
Speaker 3: We don't direct, they're only and they have no independence
• 16:43
Speaker 3: other than hating Donald Trump, which is why their viewership
• 16:46
Speaker 3: numbers have plummeted, because they don't actually report news. They
• 16:50
Speaker 3: instead engage in very biased propaganda. And I will say
• 16:53
Speaker 3: the truest words you said a minute ago is when
• 16:56
Speaker 3: you said, with respect to mister sarrandos well, he and
• 16:59
Speaker 3: I I see the world in very much the same way.
• 17:02
Speaker 3: That is exactly the problem that in the world of
• 17:05
Speaker 3: journalism it should not be propaganda. In the world of entertainment,
• 17:10
Speaker 3: there is a reason why entertainers who are even slightly
• 17:15
Speaker 3: right of center get black bald in Hollywood. Writers get
• 17:18
Speaker 3: black bald in Hollywood. Actors get blackbald in Hollywood. And
• 17:22
Speaker 3: I've heard nothing today to give me any confidence that
• 17:25
Speaker 3: this merger would do anything other than make that problem
• 17:28
  Speaker 3: much much worse.
• 17:29
Speaker 1: Sinta, this is one of those subjects.
• 17:31
Speaker 2: It's the reason why I decide to write an op ed,
• 17:33
Speaker 2: because it does matter when companies get big and they
• 17:36
Speaker 2: have as much influence as Paramount does or as Netflix does.
• 17:40
Speaker 2: It is concerning that the propaganda as you describe, that
• 17:44
Speaker 2: can be put out that can fundamentally shape this country.
• 17:47
Speaker 2: It's why you invoke Ronald Reagan in the output that
• 17:49
Speaker 2: I wrote at Foxnews dot com. And there's also the
• 17:52
Speaker 2: concern of foreign influence coming in. I don't want American
• 17:56
Speaker 2: movies being paid for twenty four billion in Middle East funding.
• 18:00
Speaker 2: Scares the hell out of me because what are they
• 18:01
Speaker 2: going to say you can and can't do. I go
• 18:03
Speaker 2: back to top Gun Matheric. There was a simple patch,
• 18:06
Speaker 2: a Taiwan patch on his jacket, and they banned that
• 18:10
Speaker 2: movie from China, period, full stop. Well, if that money's
• 18:14
Speaker 2: coming in, what else could not be made because of that?
• 18:17
Speaker 1: That worries me as well.
• 18:19
Speaker 3: Yeah, look, I'm very worried about Woe Hollywood. It has
• 18:22
Speaker 3: gone so leftists, It is engaged in so much in doctrination.
• 18:26
Speaker 3: It is trying to silence views that are pro America,
• 18:29
Speaker 3: Silence views that are conservative, silence views that are pro freedom.
• 18:33
Speaker 3: And listen, this merger, it's not going to go through
• 18:39
Speaker 3: unless the Department of Justice signs off on it, and
• 18:41
Speaker 3: the Apartment of Justice has to approve the merger and
• 18:44
Speaker 3: say that it does not create a monopoly. It does
• 18:46
Speaker 3: not increase monopoly power. I think there are very real concerns.
• 18:52
Speaker 3: This hearing was the beginning of the scrutiny for it.
• 18:55
Speaker 3: I expect to see more scrutiny, more questions asked about
• 18:59
Speaker 3: this massive merger. But I don't want to see even
• 19:03
Speaker 3: bigger market power pushing a pro Democrat, pro leftist, anti
• 19:08
Speaker 3: American agenda, and I'm very concerned that's what's happening right now.
• 19:13
Speaker 2: Final question on this, when do the consumers find out
• 19:17
  Speaker 2: what happens here?
• 19:18
Speaker 1: How long until we get an answer of who gets
• 19:21
  Speaker 1: to buy what?
• 19:23
Speaker 3: Yeah, Typically this process takes months to years, and so
• 19:27
Speaker 3: the Department of Justice has to assess whether this is
• 19:30
Speaker 3: allowed to go forward. The FCC may well engage as
• 19:35
Speaker 3: well in signing off on this. I'm the chairman of
• 19:38
Speaker 3: the Senate Commerce Committee. I expect to be quite engaged
• 19:41
Speaker 3: in this process. So it will take some time. At
• 19:43
Speaker 3: a minimum it's several months, it could be upwards of
• 19:46
Speaker 3: a year. And the consequence if this merger happens, it
• 19:50
Speaker 3: is really significant for news, and it's really significant for entertainment.
• 19:55
Speaker 3: And by the way, I think entertainment in many ways
• 19:58
Speaker 3: is more important than news. Get so much of what
• 20:01
Speaker 3: we understand about the world from entertainment. They got this
• 20:04
Speaker 3: allowing a massive left wing monopoly. Listen, I asked these guys,
• 20:10
Speaker 3: are we on stolen land? Neither one of them could
• 20:14
Speaker 3: say no. They're not willing to say America is legitimate. No,
• 20:20
Speaker 3: this is not stolen land. That's how woke and lefty
• 20:24
Speaker 3: and disconnected these people are. And they want to have
• 20:28
Speaker 3: even more power over the entertainment that you're allowed to
• 20:32
Speaker 3: consume your home as before.
• 20:34
Speaker 2: If you want to hear the rest of this conversation
• 20:36
Speaker 2: on this topic, you can go back and dow the
• 20:38
Speaker 2: podcast from earlier this week to hear the entire thing.
• 20:42
Speaker 2: I want to get back to the big story number
• 20:45
Speaker 2: three of the week.
• 20:45
Speaker 1: You may have missed, all.
• 20:46
Speaker 2: Right, Senator, So let's talk about the Save Act. It
• 20:50
Speaker 2: was brought up and it was a part of the
• 20:52
Speaker 2: discussion of the debate even with the partial government shut down.
• 20:56
Speaker 2: There are a lot of conservatives that I've talked to
• 20:58
Speaker 2: this past week. They don't understand why this hasn't happened already.
• 21:01
Speaker 2: It's already come out of the House before, and the
• 21:05
Speaker 2: big question is why can't we just pass it right now?
• 21:08
Speaker 2: I think there's a lot of misinformation on this and
• 21:10
Speaker 2: it's not a fifty plus one vote to get this done.
• 21:14
Speaker 2: It is sixty votes. You need to get this done.
• 21:16
Speaker 2: And if you want to know who to blame, look
• 21:18
Speaker 2: at the Democratic Party. They have dug in. Chuck Schumer's
• 21:21
Speaker 2: made it very clear, and there isn't a single Democrat
• 21:24
Speaker 2: that had his blessing to vote in favor of this thing.
• 21:26
Speaker 2: He's calling it Jim Crow two point zero.
• 21:29
Speaker 3: Well, the Save Act, which was initially introduced in the
• 21:32
Speaker 3: House of Representatives by Chip Roy, my former chief of staff.
• 21:37
Speaker 3: The Save Act requires proof of American citizenship to register
• 21:41
Speaker 3: to vote. Its common sense legislation, and then actually President
• 21:45
Speaker 3: Trump has changed it. And President Trump did two changes.
• 21:49
Speaker 3: Number one, he wanted to change the name from the
• 21:51
Speaker 3: Save Act to the Save America Act, so now the
• 21:54
Speaker 3: President is calling it the Save America Act. Number two,
• 21:57
Speaker 3: he wanted to add to it not just proof of
• 21:59
Speaker 3: citizen ship to register to vote, but also a requirement
• 22:03
Speaker 3: of photo ID to vote. We've done that. I am
• 22:07
Speaker 3: a sponsor of the Save America Act. I think it
• 22:09
Speaker 3: makes absolute sense. But the challenge is is that the
• 22:14
Speaker 3: Democrats are dug in and are rapidly opposing it. And
• 22:18
Speaker 3: under the Senate rules, it takes sixty votes to move forward,
• 22:23
Speaker 3: and right now we can anticipate every Senate Democrat voting no.
• 22:28
Speaker 3: Now we're going to break down where public opinion is
• 22:31
Speaker 3: on this, and then I'm going to tell you the
• 22:33
Speaker 3: strategy that I'm urging John Thune and Republican leadership to
• 22:37
Speaker 3: do to get this done in the Senate. But first
• 22:40
Speaker 3: of all, let's just cover where the polling is. I
• 22:43
Speaker 3: want you to give a listen to actually something pretty remarkable.
• 22:46
Speaker 3: I want you to listen to Chuck Schumer actually on
• 22:51
Speaker 3: Morning Joe So on MSNBC, being questioned about just how
• 22:58
Speaker 3: much support there is for the Save America Act.
• 23:00
Speaker 8: So, Leader Schumer, this talk about election security has revived
• 23:04
Speaker 8: discussions of the Save Act, which you have said you oppose.
• 23:09
Speaker 8: Proponents of it say that it's you know, to have
• 23:11
Speaker 8: ida to prove US.
• 23:12
Speaker 1: Citizenship to be able to vote.
• 23:14
Speaker 8: If some of the claims they make, to be clear
• 23:16
Speaker 8: are overstated. We know there's not widespread election fraud, but
• 23:20
Speaker 8: polling does suggest there's a new Pew Research poll that
• 23:24
Speaker 8: ninety five percent of Republicans but also seventy one percent
• 23:27
Speaker 8: of Democrats like this idea.
• 23:29
Speaker 4: So why do you not it's Jim Crow two point
• 23:33
Speaker 4: zero And I called it Jim Crow two point zero,
• 23:36
Speaker 4: and the right wing went nuts all over the internet.
• 23:39
Speaker 4: That's because they know it's true. What they're trying to
• 23:42
Speaker 4: do here is the same thing that was done in
• 23:44
Speaker 4: the South for decades to prevent people of color from voting.
• 23:48
Speaker 4: For instance, if you can't if you change you're a
• 23:51
Speaker 4: woman who got married and changed your last name, you
• 23:54
Speaker 4: won't be able to show ID and you'll be discriminated against.
• 23:57
Speaker 4: If you can't find a birth certificate or proper you'll
• 24:01
Speaker 4: be discriminated against. This is vicious and nasty. And I
• 24:04
Speaker 4: said to our Republican colleagues, it will not pass the Senate.
• 24:07
Speaker 4: You will not get a single Democratic vote in the Senate.
• 24:10
Speaker 4: We're not reviving Jim Crow all over the country.
• 24:14
Speaker 2: Now, Senator, Look, I actually believe him. I think it's
• 24:16
Speaker 2: very clear he's shot multiple shots, big ones, across the
• 24:20
Speaker 2: bow of every Democrat in the Senate. You are not
• 24:22
Speaker 2: going to give the Republicans as victory. The part though
• 24:26
Speaker 2: there that he talks about being Jim Crow. He's not
• 24:28
Speaker 2: listening to African Americans this country because more than seventy
• 24:32
Speaker 2: percent in a poll that was put out by CNN
• 24:35
Speaker 2: that they were talking and they were mentioning that same
• 24:37
Speaker 2: pole there and I want to play it. This was
• 24:39
Speaker 2: CNN's own words breaking down the support for voter ID
• 24:45
  Speaker 2: based on race.
• 24:46
Speaker 1: Take a listen to this. Take a look here, favorite
• 24:49
Speaker 1: photo ID to folks.
• 24:50
Speaker 9: Eighty five percent of white people favorite, eighty two percent
• 24:53
Speaker 9: of Latino, seventy six percent of Black Americans favorite. So
• 24:57
Speaker 9: the bottom line is this, voter ID is not controversial
• 25:01
Speaker 9: in this country. A photo ID to vote is not
• 25:03
Speaker 9: controversial in this country. It is not controversial by party,
• 25:07
Speaker 9: and it is not controversial by race.
• 25:08
Speaker 1: The vast majority of Americans agree with Nicki.
• 25:11
Speaker 9: Minaj that, in fact, you should have a photo ID
• 25:14
Speaker 9: to be able to vote.
• 25:15
Speaker 2: So you listen to him and again go back to
• 25:18
Speaker 2: this seventy eight I'm sorry, she's seventy six percent of Blacks,
• 25:22
Speaker 2: eighty two percent of Antino, eighty five percent of white
• 25:25
Speaker 2: and that's coming from CNN.
• 25:26
Speaker 3: Senator, Look, the American people overwhelmingly support photo ID to
• 25:31
Speaker 3: vote because it's a common sense step. You have to
• 25:33
Speaker 3: have a photo ID to drive a car, you have
• 25:35
Speaker 3: to have a photo ID to get her an airplane.
• 25:37
Speaker 3: You have to have a photo ID to buy a
• 25:39
Speaker 3: beer at a bar, you have to have a photo ID.
• 25:42
Speaker 3: To the demosion, you have to look. They know it.
• 25:48
Speaker 3: It is popular. And by the way, I will say,
• 25:50
Speaker 3: look Schumer using the rhetoric about Jim Crow, there is
• 25:53
Speaker 3: an irony and that it was his party. It was
• 25:55
Speaker 3: the Democrats who enacted the Jim Crow laws. It was
• 25:59
Speaker 3: his party, the Democrats who created the KKK. It was
• 26:03
Speaker 3: his party, the Democrats that kept the system of segregation
• 26:07
Speaker 3: in for decades. He uses this rhetoric because the Democrats
• 26:13
Speaker 3: do not care that Democrats overwhelmingly supported voters. They don't
• 26:17
Speaker 3: care that African Americans and Hispanic support it. They have
• 26:20
Speaker 3: a partisan position. They are for voter fraud.
• 26:23
Speaker 2: The other question I want to ask you is why
• 26:26
Speaker 2: are Democrats so opposed to it if it's not about cheating,
• 26:31
Speaker 2: Because if white air at eighty five, Latinos eighty two,
• 26:33
Speaker 2: and blacks ad seventy six, I'm not sure there's that
• 26:36
Speaker 2: many subjects in America you could get this type of
• 26:38
Speaker 2: consensus on, including Republicans and Democrats who identify as Republicans
• 26:43
Speaker 2: and Democrats also overwhelmingly agree this is a good thing.
• 26:47
Speaker 3: Yeah, Look, the American people overwhelmingly support photo ID to vote.
• 26:52
Speaker 3: The Democrats are not opposing this because their base is
• 26:55
Speaker 3: telling them to oppose it. As we talked about, seventy
• 26:58
Speaker 3: one percent of Democrats voters think photo ID to vote
• 27:01
Speaker 3: is a good idea. They're opposing it for two reasons.
• 27:05
Speaker 3: Number one, they're opposing it, I believe because voter fraud
• 27:09
Speaker 3: is a real and persistent problem, and they count on
• 27:12
Speaker 3: voter fraud to help them win elections, and so they
• 27:14
Speaker 3: don't want photo ID because they want cheating. If you
• 27:18
Speaker 3: look at the Democrats when they have control over elections,
• 27:21
Speaker 3: they put in place policies that expand voter fraud. And
• 27:27
Speaker 3: by the way, look look, if you're not inclined to
• 27:30
Speaker 3: believe me, you might say, Okay, Cruz is being a Republican.
• 27:33
Speaker 3: Although if you're not inclined to believe me, I am
• 27:36
Speaker 3: wondering why you're listening to verdict with Ted Cruz. But
• 27:38
Speaker 3: set that aside. If you're not inclined to believe me,
• 27:41
Speaker 3: maybe you would believe Democrat President Jimmy Carter. Because Democrat
• 27:47
Speaker 3: President Jimmy Carter joined with former Republican Secretary of State
• 27:52
Speaker 3: James Baker. They chaired what was called the Carter Baker
• 27:55
Speaker 3: Commission studying voter fraud. They concluded, voter fraud is real,
• 27:59
Speaker 3: it is a problem has changed the outcome of elections,
• 28:02
Speaker 3: and they recommended a series of steps to prevent voter fraud.
• 28:05
Speaker 3: They recommended number one limiting the use of mail in
• 28:09
Speaker 3: ballots because mail in ballots make it easier to cheat.
• 28:12
Speaker 3: They recommended number two requiring photo ID to vote because
• 28:16
Speaker 3: that makes it harder to cheat. They recommended number three
• 28:19
Speaker 3: prohibiting ballot harvesting, prohibiting paid political operatives being able to
• 28:24
Speaker 3: collect the ballots of others because that invites voter fraud. Well, Ben,
• 28:29
Speaker 3: do you know what the position is now of Chuck
• 28:31
Speaker 3: Schumer and every congressional Democrat.
• 28:34
Speaker 2: It is to oppose any type of voter ID.
• 28:38
Speaker 3: It's worse than that. They literally went down the recommendations
• 28:42
Speaker 3: of the Carter Baker Commission on how to stop voter fraud,
• 28:44
Speaker 3: and they were reversed them all. So the Carter Baker
• 28:48
Speaker 3: Commission said, if you want to stop voter fraud, limit
• 28:50
Speaker 3: mail in ballots. The Democrat want mail in ballots in
• 28:53
Speaker 3: every election. The Carter Baker Commission said, require photo ID.
• 28:58
Speaker 3: The Democrats are adamantly a host to photo id and
• 29:02
Speaker 3: the most pernicious ballot harvesting. The Carter Baker Commission said
• 29:07
Speaker 3: on equivocally ballot harvesting invites, it encourages voter fraud. What
• 29:12
Speaker 3: is the position of Democrats? They want ballot harvesting. They
• 29:15
Speaker 3: have made a political decision, by the way.
• 29:18
Speaker 2: They want to explain ballot harvesting to people that don't
• 29:21
Speaker 2: understand that that terminology.
• 29:23
Speaker 1: It's been used a lot, But what does it mean.
• 29:25
Speaker 3: So let's take a state like California. Ballot harvesting is
• 29:28
Speaker 3: legal in California. What it means is you could have
• 29:31
Speaker 3: a paid political operative. Some new works for the Democrats.
• 29:34
Speaker 3: Go to a nursing home. Go to a nursing home
• 29:37
Speaker 3: and fill out the ballots with the elderly people with them,
• 29:41
Speaker 3: and take their ballots. So, okay, mister Jones, who are
• 29:44
Speaker 3: you going to vote for? Who you're going to vote for?
• 29:45
Speaker 3: Let's do it together. They take the ballots and you
• 29:47
Speaker 3: can have one operative collecting hundreds of ballots. Why does
• 29:51
Speaker 3: that invite fraud? Well, let's say you're sitting there and
• 29:55
Speaker 3: mister Jones votes for Donald Trump. If you're an unscrupulous operative.
• 29:59
Speaker 3: You know what you do. You take that ballot and
• 30:01
Speaker 3: throw in the trash like nobody checks to see if
• 30:04
Speaker 3: you center in in.
• 30:05
  Speaker 6: Yeah.
• 30:06
Speaker 3: And by the way, if you have, say in nursing homes,
• 30:08
Speaker 3: people with dementia, people that are not there, if you're
• 30:11
Speaker 3: sitting there filling out their ballot with them, you can
• 30:14
Speaker 3: just vote for the Democrat. And so it sets up
• 30:18
Speaker 3: a way for paid operatives to cheat, and it makes
• 30:22
Speaker 3: it very easy to cheat. The Democrats have made a
• 30:26
Speaker 3: political decision. They are for election fraud. Secondly though, Secondly,
• 30:34
Speaker 3: though Chuck Schumer when he says it's Jim Crow two
• 30:38
Speaker 3: point zero, I think they view this issue as a
• 30:41
Speaker 3: way to gin up the extremes in their base and
• 30:44
Speaker 3: to scare people. Look, Jim Crow two point zero would
• 30:46
Speaker 3: be bad. I don't want to see a bunch of
• 30:49
Speaker 3: racist Democrats putting laws in place that hurt minorities like
• 30:51
Speaker 3: they did before. And it's all about scary rhetoric. So
• 30:57
Speaker 3: it's a combination of encouraging fraud and using scary rhetoric.
• 31:02
Speaker 3: Now here's the question, Ben, how do we get this done?
• 31:05
Speaker 3: If the Democrats are adamantly going to oppose it, I'll
• 31:08
Speaker 3: tell you what I am urging the other Republican senators.
• 31:11
Speaker 3: What I'm urging our leadership is we should nuke what's
• 31:15
Speaker 3: called the zombie filibuster. What does that mean? So under
• 31:19
Speaker 3: the Senate rules, it takes sixty votes to end debate,
• 31:22
Speaker 3: and it used to be for most of the history
• 31:24
Speaker 3: of the Senate to do a filibuster you had to
• 31:27
Speaker 3: stand up and talk and talk and talk. You remember
• 31:29
Speaker 3: back in twenty thirteen against Obamacare, I did a twenty
• 31:33
Speaker 3: one hour filibuster and talked for twenty one hours straight.
• 31:36
Speaker 3: That used to be how you had to do it. Now,
• 31:40
Speaker 3: we don't make the Democrats talk and talk and talk
• 31:42
Speaker 3: and fill the airspace. We just let them vote no, no,
• 31:46
Speaker 3: I'm voting to filibuster. And once I say I'm filibustering,
• 31:49
Speaker 3: we're done. We can force them one after the other
• 31:53
Speaker 3: to stand up, to stand up, to keep talking, to
• 31:56
Speaker 3: keep talking and keep talking and make the filibuster really painful.
• 32:00
Speaker 3: Now there's another side of it, though. The Democrats can
• 32:05
Speaker 3: keep challenging whether we have a quorum on the Senate floor.
• 32:10
Speaker 3: What that means is that we've got to be able
• 32:13
Speaker 3: to produce fifty bodies. We've got to have at least
• 32:15
Speaker 3: fifty Republican Senators who could show up on the Senate
• 32:18
Speaker 3: floor and demonstrate a quorum. So it is painful for
• 32:21
Speaker 3: both the majority and the minority. And right now it's
• 32:26
Speaker 3: not clear that we have fifty Republicans who support doing this.
• 32:30
Speaker 3: I am making the case this week. I made the
• 32:32
Speaker 3: case vigorously to my Republican colleagues. Mike Lee is making
• 32:36
Speaker 3: the case vigorously to our Republican colleagues. Rick Scott is
• 32:39
Speaker 3: making the case vigorously to our Republican colleagues. But it's
• 32:44
Speaker 3: not clear if we have fifty or not. If we
• 32:46
Speaker 3: don't have fifty, we can't do it. And so I
• 32:50
Speaker 3: think we ought to make it incredibly painful for Democrats
• 32:53
Speaker 3: and do everything we can to try to push them
• 32:57
Speaker 3: to the point of exhaustion, and if they get to
• 32:59
Speaker 3: that point, then we can pass the Save America Act.
• 33:03
Speaker 2: Yeah, by the way, I've been saying this on TV.
• 33:05
Speaker 2: I think it's really important that Republicans explain that we're
• 33:08
Speaker 2: in favor of this. But we have to have ten
• 33:11
Speaker 2: Democrats to get this thing seven seven, sorry, excuse seven,
• 33:15
Speaker 2: I should say seven Democrats to get this thing done.
• 33:17
Speaker 2: And without getting those seven to get us to the
• 33:20
Speaker 2: perfect number of sixty.
• 33:22
Speaker 3: And understand we will get zero. We're not going to
• 33:25
Speaker 3: get seven. We're not going to get one. Every Democrat
• 33:28
Speaker 3: will follow Schumer's orders on this.
• 33:30
