- 0:22Speaker 1: Welcome to Eagles Postgame Analysis here at the Philadelphia Sports
- 0:25Speaker 1: Table Podcast Show, the longest-running weekly Philly sports podcast show
- 0:28Speaker 1: in the world, over 13 1⁄2 years strong. The lack
- 0:34Speaker 1: of a season, it seems at this point. I should
- 0:36Speaker 1: say week five of this Philadelphia Eagles 2026-2027 season was
- 0:42Speaker 1: just an absolute dumpster fire as they lose to the
- 0:45Speaker 1: Jacksonville Jaguars over in England by a score of 19-17.
- 0:49Speaker 1: The Eagles are now 2-3. on the season having lost
- 0:53Speaker 1: their last three games in a row I'm Jeff Warren
- 0:57Speaker 1: and I'm here with my buddy filling in for the
- 1:00Speaker 1: guys again always appreciate him taking the time from the
- 1:02Speaker 1: honorable mention podcast you can subscribe on YouTube you can
- 1:06Speaker 1: subscribe on whatever audio podcast you may be listening to
- 1:08Speaker 1: us on honorable mentions a great podcast our friend Matt
- 1:11Speaker 1: Rogers buddy first and foremost thanks so much for joining
- 1:14Speaker 1: us here and filling in but man it's it it's
- 1:16Speaker 1: getting real tough to talk about this team after these
- 1:18Speaker 1: after these three losses in a row.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Man It's like Groundhog Day. I mean, it's like the
- 1:23Speaker 2: same shit.
- 1:24Speaker 3: I mean, every time we come on and we have
- 1:27Speaker 3: one of these, all the Eagles games really look the same.
- 1:30Speaker 2: I mean, all these games are one possession games.
- 1:34Speaker 3: Whether you win the game or lose the game, they
- 1:36Speaker 3: all kind of look like shit. And it's like, okay, well...
- 1:40Speaker 3: you know, did we get the win or not? At
- 1:41Speaker 3: least we got the win, but we don't get the,
- 1:43Speaker 3: at least we got.
- 1:44Speaker 2: The way today.
- 1:44Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:45Speaker 2: We get this.
- 1:46Speaker 3: One of the most embarrassing up and down rollercoaster law smoke.
- 1:51Speaker 2: I've seen the Eagles get their teeth kicked in. I've
- 1:54Speaker 2: seen the Eagles get their teeth kicked in by the Cowboys.
- 1:57Speaker 3: I don't know if I've seen, had such an up
- 1:59Speaker 3: and down moment, like to see Jake just hammer that
- 2:03Speaker 3: he's back.
- 2:04Speaker 2: We're back after all this with all the guys. And
- 2:07Speaker 2: then the, Sirianni just pisses it away.
- 2:10Speaker 4: Yeah, absolutely. It's incredible, Jeff.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Sirianni and Mannion as well. Look, first two games of
- 2:15Speaker 1: the season, Philadelphia Eagles scored 24 points in those games.
- 2:19Speaker 1: In the NFL, you can score 24 points and win games.
- 2:23Speaker 4: It is possible.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Against the Bears, they scored seven points. Against the Rams,
- 2:27Speaker 1: they scored 20 points. And against the Jaguars, only scoring
- 2:30Speaker 1: 17 points. It is not possible. sustainable the way that
- 2:34Speaker 1: this offense is continuing to perform and yes there are
- 2:38Speaker 1: so many challenges as we do know there are so
- 2:41Speaker 1: many challenges as we know let's let's just go down
- 2:44Speaker 1: those challenges really quick because coming into the game wide
- 2:48Speaker 1: receiver Hollywood Brown out with an ankle injury Devontae Smith
- 2:51Speaker 1: as we know still nursing a hamstring injury Saquon Barkley
- 2:54Speaker 1: was out. Tank Bigsby was out. Marcus Epps still out
- 2:58Speaker 1: as well. Jonathan Grenard is out with an ankle injury
- 3:02Speaker 1: and new center Drew Kendall out with a knee injury.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Now during this game, folks, there were still a lot
- 3:09Speaker 1: of injuries that actually ended up happening. And it just
- 3:12Speaker 1: didn't surprise me at all, Matt, because I'm like, of
- 3:15Speaker 1: course this is happening to this team. Will Shipley going
- 3:17Speaker 1: out with a foot injury before the half. Not that
- 3:20Speaker 1: he was doing anything great before that, but Yes, he
- 3:22Speaker 1: did score a touchdown. However, we're going to get to
- 3:25Speaker 1: the rushing yards in just a bit. Jalex Hunt went
- 3:27Speaker 1: out with a leg injury right before the half as well.
- 3:30Speaker 1: That looked really bad. I can't imagine he's going to
- 3:32Speaker 1: be coming back anytime soon after looking at that injury.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Tyler Steen went out with an injury in the third quarter.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Fred Johnson came in for him. Steen did come back
- 3:40Speaker 1: in the fourth quarter. But this is a team riddled
- 3:42Speaker 1: with injuries. You have an offensive line. We had a
- 3:45Speaker 1: gentleman retire this week who was starting and one of
- 3:47Speaker 1: the best in the game, and also a trade that
- 3:50Speaker 1: happened with an offensive lineman.
- 3:52Speaker 4: I think to myself, okay, should we have expected this?
- 3:56Speaker 1: But then again, the Eagles' depth on the offensive line
- 3:59Speaker 1: is not terrible by any stretch. It could be a
- 4:01Speaker 1: lot worse, as it is for a lot of other
- 4:04Speaker 1: teams as well, but the injury bug certainly hasn't helped
- 4:07Speaker 1: this team out here, Matt.
- 4:08Speaker 4: It hasn't. That's a theme here.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Yeah, and they... You know, they don't have much further.
- 4:15Speaker 3: They were they're lucky, as you said, to be able
- 4:17Speaker 3: to bring in the guys that they can bring in.
- 4:19Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Lampkin even today bringing in Big Fred. Great.
- 4:24Speaker 3: But if you if this if this trend continues, they
- 4:27Speaker 3: need to reverse this trend. And this whole strategy of
- 4:32Speaker 3: not playing people much in the preseason, et cetera, it
- 4:36Speaker 3: has shown a lot of success in previous years. Yeah.
- 4:39Speaker 2: The success is, is, is limited this year.
- 4:42Speaker 3: I mean, of the big guys, you know, number one
- 4:45Speaker 3: is the, is the only one of those that's really
- 4:48Speaker 3: this year, not as a result, not dealing with injuries.
- 4:50Speaker 4: Yeah, absolutely.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Look, we're going to get to special teams a little
- 4:54Speaker 1: further along here because special teams were extremely, extremely good
- 5:00Speaker 1: today in many ways. And then they ended up stinking
- 5:02Speaker 1: it up at the end of the game, which ended
- 5:04Speaker 1: up costing the Eagles this game.
- 5:06Speaker 4: However, we just want to state out right out, right
- 5:08Speaker 4: out of the gate.
- 5:09Speaker 1: And it got this feeling going through my body of, okay,
- 5:13Speaker 1: this may not go too well when.
- 5:15Speaker 4: Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Got ejected from the game on the opening kickoff, along
- 5:19Speaker 1: with Brian Thomas Jr. from the Jaguars as well, with
- 5:22Speaker 1: a scuffle that they had. Just a terrible way to
- 5:25Speaker 1: start the game. A terrible way to get that positive
- 5:28Speaker 1: energy flowing. And even though there were a ton of
- 5:31Speaker 1: penalties on that opening kickoff, Jacksonville ended up scoring a
- 5:34Speaker 1: touchdown on the actual kickoff that was negated. A horrendous
- 5:40Speaker 1: way to start this game. It's just, it set the
- 5:43Speaker 1: tone in terms of the energy, Matt. Yeah. Yeah.
- 5:51Speaker 3: I still, at the end of the day with the, the,
- 5:54Speaker 3: the injuries, the way that they're riddled with injuries, they
- 5:57Speaker 3: really cannot run the ball right now.
- 6:00Speaker 4: I mean, that's a theme.
- 6:02Speaker 3: I just don't, I really don't know what they're going
- 6:05Speaker 3: to be able to do with that. I mean, Damien
- 6:07Speaker 3: Pierce had okay moments. He also had just stone cold drops.
- 6:11Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:12Speaker 3: He was in there and important moments, the ball going
- 6:14Speaker 3: right through his hands. He's clearly I mean, he's a
- 6:18Speaker 3: strong guy. Didn't have ball security issues today.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:24Speaker 3: You know, as far I mean, Shipley goes out early on.
- 6:27Speaker 3: And I mean, how much this is another thing. I mean,
- 6:30Speaker 3: like how much further can you go? I mean, you're
- 6:33Speaker 3: not going to cut these guys. You can't cut these guys.
- 6:36Speaker 2: So no.
- 6:37Speaker 1: So you can't get any worse either, because at the
- 6:39Speaker 1: end of the day, there were 18 rushes for 22 yards, Matt. 1.2
- 6:46Speaker 1: yards per rush on the day. I can't remember a
- 6:52Speaker 1: time when a Philadelphia Eagles running back room, along with
- 6:56Speaker 1: a quarterback as well, who is known for getting some
- 7:00Speaker 1: yards with his legs, put up that poor of numbers.
- 7:04Speaker 1: I mean, that is piss poor, what we witnessed today
- 7:07Speaker 1: in terms of the run game.
- 7:09Speaker 4: Again, yes, offensive line injured.
- 7:11Speaker 1: But this is on coaching as well because how many
- 7:15Speaker 1: other teams in this league over many, many years have
- 7:19Speaker 1: had the trials and tribulations of injured offensive linemen and
- 7:23Speaker 1: then injured running backs as well and are still able
- 7:26Speaker 1: to produce more than 22 yards in a game of rushing?
- 7:30Speaker 4: It was absolutely pathetic.
- 7:33Speaker 3: Yeah, pretty much a completely anemic rushing offense. relatively anemic
- 7:40Speaker 3: passing offense as well. I mean, in spurts, I'm seeing
- 7:43Speaker 3: more intermediate stuff. That's another good theme. I'm starting to
- 7:47Speaker 3: see some blends of that. If you wanted to get
- 7:50Speaker 3: in themes, what.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Do you want to do here, Jeff? Yeah, I mean,
- 7:52Speaker 1: we can get into it. I mean, that's a positive theme.
- 7:55Speaker 1: If you want to go down that route, that's a
- 7:57Speaker 1: positive theme. But that's going to then correlate, and I'm
- 8:01Speaker 1: going to do a 180 on it because of something
- 8:04Speaker 1: that actually correlates with that.
- 8:06Speaker 4: So go ahead with this one.
- 8:09Speaker 3: I think I am starting to see it's not just
- 8:12Speaker 3: deep ball or check down. A lot of what you've
- 8:15Speaker 3: seen from the Eagles over this era of Eagles football
- 8:20Speaker 3: is deep ball or check down. And you know, a
- 8:23Speaker 3: lot of the discussion is about, you know, Jalen hitting
- 8:25Speaker 3: more of those intermediate, you know, seven to 15, seven
- 8:29Speaker 3: to 20 routes. There were a lot of these and
- 8:32Speaker 3: he's starting to hit a lot of those on the sidelines,
- 8:34Speaker 3: et cetera. So that is a, a positive thing that
- 8:38Speaker 3: I'm starting to see from Sirianni slash Manion. I'm going
- 8:42Speaker 3: to put Sirianni. He's still in the driver's seat. If you,
- 8:45Speaker 3: if you didn't tell me that they have ever changed
- 8:48Speaker 3: the play callers, I wouldn't know. It looks very similar
- 8:52Speaker 3: all the time. They're doing a lot more under center.
- 8:54Speaker 3: But this is the Sirianni offense. I'm not going to
- 8:57Speaker 3: disrespect Sean Manning completely and act like he's getting to
- 9:00Speaker 3: drive this car.
- 9:01Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Look, where I wanted to go with this particular topic,
- 9:07Speaker 1: it's really interesting you mentioned this theme because there is
- 9:09Speaker 1: a 180 to this. Yes, I think we're seeing more
- 9:13Speaker 1: productive cars. intermediate routes being run and Jalen is getting them,
- 9:18Speaker 1: but it's not when they actually need them, in my opinion.
- 9:22Speaker 1: And what I'm talking about is why are you still
- 9:25Speaker 1: running on first down when I just read off the
- 9:28Speaker 1: stats that I just read off in terms of the
- 9:30Speaker 1: rush in this game? I mean, when your lead back
- 9:35Speaker 1: gets injured after five carries and he was only averaging 1.2
- 9:39Speaker 1: yards per carry and then your backup running back And
- 9:43Speaker 1: Damian Pierce was only averaging 1.3 yards per rush. Why
- 9:47Speaker 1: are you continuing to do this? The lack of all
- 9:52Speaker 1: I want, Matt, and this this sounds this sounds pathetic.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Me begging for this right now because the Eagles came
- 9:57Speaker 1: into this game leading the NFL.
- 10:00Speaker 4: In three and outs.
- 10:01Speaker 1: And for once, I would love to see the offense
- 10:04Speaker 1: just get maybe six yards on first down. Actually, I'll
- 10:08Speaker 1: take five yards on first down. They cannot get chunk
- 10:13Speaker 1: plays on first down.
- 10:15Speaker 4: It's amazing. It's absolutely incredible.
- 10:18Speaker 2: I would love to see.
- 10:19Speaker 3: I would love to see– and you see it in
- 10:21Speaker 3: some times, especially when defenses are heating them up.
- 10:25Speaker 2: They go to empty.
- 10:26Speaker 3: I would love to see first drive of the game
- 10:29Speaker 3: come out and empty and just start getting those– if
- 10:34Speaker 3: you want to do short intermediate stuff to Makai Lemon
- 10:37Speaker 3: in that, then it's fine because the defense is all
- 10:39Speaker 3: spread out.
- 10:40Speaker 2: But you bring everybody tight.
- 10:42Speaker 3: You run these like– you just don't have the personnel
- 10:45Speaker 3: to be doing all that. So I think– Yeah, when
- 10:49Speaker 3: they're running it. Also, when I speak about Mikhail, I mean,
- 10:51Speaker 3: I got to bring up that fourth down. I mean,
- 10:54Speaker 3: the solo just running a slant route. How the hell
- 10:58Speaker 3: was that.
- 10:58Speaker 2: The call there?
- 10:59Speaker 4: Exactly. How the hell was that? Yes. That's coaching call
- 11:03Speaker 4: right there. What the hell was that? My gosh.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Getting away from things that work as well is another
- 11:11Speaker 1: theme because we ended up seeing productive third down conversions
- 11:16Speaker 1: in the first half of this game. I mean, the
- 11:18Speaker 1: Eagles first touchdown in the second quarter was the first
- 11:21Speaker 1: time actually the Jaguars defense gave up a touchdown in
- 11:24Speaker 1: the first half all season. I mean, it was what
- 11:27Speaker 1: a drive by the offense. I was thinking to myself,
- 11:29Speaker 1: Oh wow, maybe they do have something here. A nice,
- 11:32Speaker 1: nice 13 play 64 yard touchdown. touchdown drive that ended
- 11:37Speaker 1: up tying the game at seven to seven. Jalen hurts
- 11:40Speaker 1: made some really nice throws on that drive. But, but
- 11:44Speaker 1: like the main point though, Matt is that the offense
- 11:47Speaker 1: converted more third downs on that touchdown drive than they
- 11:51Speaker 1: did in their past two games combined, which was only two,
- 11:54Speaker 1: you know? So, and then we get to the, again,
- 11:58Speaker 1: tail still a theme folks, still a theme week after week.
- 12:02Speaker 1: Then we get to the second half, third quarter, And
- 12:06Speaker 1: into the fourth quarter, it is a tale of two halves.
- 12:10Speaker 4: They could not sustain drives. Way too many three and outs.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Their last four drives prior to the drive where Jake
- 12:18Speaker 1: Elliott was able to make that field goal in the
- 12:20Speaker 1: fourth quarter, 15 plays, 10 yards, four punts. Going three
- 12:25Speaker 1: and out. It's just four three and outs in a row.
- 12:31Speaker 1: It's mind-boggling.
- 12:33Speaker 2: The coaching. Like, how is it possible?
- 12:36Speaker 4: Yes.
- 12:36Speaker 3: Like, how is it possible for you to run 15 plays?
- 12:41Speaker 1: Yes.
- 12:41Speaker 2: And get 10 yards.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Yes. And yes, sometimes the execution wasn't there. Sometimes the
- 12:46Speaker 1: execution wasn't there. But when you have a third and eight,
- 12:50Speaker 1: a third and 10. And you are throwing five yards behind.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Like the call is you got it. You got to
- 12:57Speaker 1: throw the ball jail and five yards behind the first
- 13:00Speaker 1: down marker.
- 13:00Speaker 4: Are you kidding me with this Jaguars defense? Pretty good defense.
- 13:04Speaker 4: It's just the coaching is mind boggling at this point here. I.
- 13:08Speaker 2: I, I got a negative theme.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:10Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:10Speaker 2: I'm starting to get pissed off.
- 13:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:12Speaker 3: The second week in the row, second week in a
- 13:14Speaker 3: row that this Philadelphia Eagles defense with the injuries and
- 13:18Speaker 3: the turnover and the, Pretty poor play at safety. I
- 13:23Speaker 3: like Makuba. He is going to be a decent player.
- 13:27Speaker 3: But overall, the safety play has not been good. But
- 13:29Speaker 3: they've been doing an amazing job against two top-tier offenses.
- 13:34Speaker 3: And then Nick Sirianni finds a way to put them
- 13:37Speaker 3: in a position where they've been bending all day. And
- 13:42Speaker 3: Sirianni's breaking the freaking defense. Jalen Carter played... Forget Aaron Donald.
- 13:49Speaker 3: Even if Aaron Donald comes... Even if he comes back,
- 13:52Speaker 3: what we saw from Jalen Carter today is one of
- 13:54Speaker 3: the best defensive tackle performances I've seen.
- 13:57Speaker 2: I mean, he was ridiculous today.
- 14:00Speaker 4: Yes. And we lost. Yes.
- 14:01Speaker 1: He looked like Jalen Carter 2024 style. But you are
- 14:06Speaker 1: absolutely right when it comes to this defense. I'm thinking
- 14:09Speaker 1: to myself, what an incredible defensive effort to keep the
- 14:11Speaker 1: Jaguars from scoring at the one yard line right before
- 14:15Speaker 1: the half.
- 14:16Speaker 4: Four plays the Jags ran. Four plays at the one-yard line.
- 14:19Speaker 1: And this Eagles defense stopped this high-powered Jaguars offense. And
- 14:25Speaker 1: then you're going to come out in the second half
- 14:28Speaker 1: offense and look like complete dog shit?
- 14:30Speaker 4: Are you kidding me?
- 14:31Speaker 1: To take the energy and the spark that the defense
- 14:34Speaker 1: gave you right before the half and just completely crush it.
- 14:38Speaker 4: Just completely crush it. That's what happened. That's what occurred.
- 14:42Speaker 2: This offense is a three-and-out machine.
- 14:44Speaker 3: It is.
- 14:46Speaker 2: And I don't– it's crazy.
- 14:49Speaker 3: I mean, I get that you have the injuries that
- 14:52Speaker 3: you have. That's true, and that mitigates to a degree.
- 14:56Speaker 3: But we were a three-and-out machine with all the tools. Yes.
- 15:01Speaker 2: So it's not the tools. There's something– Something's wrong right now.
- 15:06Speaker 1: Schematically also. The patient is sick. Yes, very sick. I mean,
- 15:11Speaker 1: it's even more than the flu at this point, I think.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Because if you notice, every time a bootleg is called,
- 15:19Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts is running for his life because there's a
- 15:21Speaker 1: defender that's not blocked.
- 15:22Speaker 4: That's scheming. That's coaching right there.
- 15:25Speaker 1: That's knowing and understanding the quote, putting your players in
- 15:30Speaker 1: a good place to succeed or even not succeed. in
- 15:34Speaker 1: that case. It's just, Oh my gosh. Again, same themes folks.
- 15:39Speaker 1: And I know it may sound like a broken record here,
- 15:41Speaker 1: but same freaking themes. Um, and I got to tell you,
- 15:45Speaker 1: I got one more.
- 15:45Speaker 4: Yeah, go ahead. I got one more.
- 15:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:47Speaker 3: Uh, Dontavian Wicks, who I've, uh, affectionately turned, I've, I
- 15:55Speaker 3: saw it somewhere and I always call him John Wicks.
- 15:57Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 15:58Speaker 2: Uh, I've, I've affectionately called him that.
- 16:01Speaker 3: I do have to say on that third and 13
- 16:03Speaker 3: on the stutter go, they, it was the, I got
- 16:07Speaker 3: to give Mannion Sirianni.
- 16:08Speaker 2: It was a perfect call.
- 16:10Speaker 4: Best call. And I don't really.
- 16:11Speaker 3: Yep. And I don't really want to say that Jalen
- 16:15Speaker 3: missed it. He has to come down with that. Yeah.
- 16:18Speaker 2: That ball. He had, he has to fuck. He has
- 16:21Speaker 2: to score there.
- 16:22Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 16:22Speaker 2: You have, you have to score.
- 16:24Speaker 3: So if we're going to go back and Monday morning quarterback,
- 16:27Speaker 3: all of this, Dontavian Wicks, you got to catch that one.
- 16:30Speaker 3: You've made some amazing catches this year, and that's why
- 16:33Speaker 3: the standard is that you should make that catch. You
- 16:35Speaker 3: have to– for your life, you have to at least.
- 16:39Speaker 2: Pull that in. That cannot be a time where we
- 16:41Speaker 2: have to go punt the ball.
- 16:41Speaker 4: I think that's fair. That's fair.
- 16:43Speaker 1: It was a great call. Probably the best call of
- 16:44Speaker 1: the entire game. Probably the best call of the entire
- 16:47Speaker 1: game too.
- 16:48Speaker 2: Season maybe.
- 16:49Speaker 4: Yes. Yes. And look– You know, we try. I mean,
- 16:55Speaker 4: three losses in a row.
- 16:57Speaker 1: It's hard to really try to find the positives to
- 16:59Speaker 1: bring into the conversation, too. But I'm going to do
- 17:01Speaker 1: that in terms of this defense. We talked about Jalen Carter.
- 17:04Speaker 1: He looked like the Jalen Carter from back in 2024.
- 17:07Speaker 1: We saw an Eagles defensive front also, Matt, collapsing the
- 17:11Speaker 1: pocket much more this week than we have throughout the
- 17:14Speaker 1: entire first four games of the season. Trevor Lawrence was
- 17:18Speaker 1: on the run. Quinion Mitchell, I thought, had a fantastic game.
- 17:22Speaker 1: even getting his first regular season interception of his career.
- 17:26Speaker 1: He ended up going down with a little bit of
- 17:28Speaker 1: an injury, was able to come back. He walked off
- 17:31Speaker 1: under his own power after that injury, his fifth interception
- 17:34Speaker 1: of his career. He's had four interceptions in the postseason,
- 17:38Speaker 1: but this one was his first of a regular season. Yeah,
- 17:43Speaker 1: so the defense overall, Played well, we're going to talk
- 17:46Speaker 1: about the linebackers when we get to the grades. I'm
- 17:49Speaker 1: not necessarily thrilled with the linebacker play of G high
- 17:51Speaker 1: Campbell again, Matt, you and I've talked about this again
- 17:54Speaker 1: and again on these postgame shows and he has some
- 17:58Speaker 1: skills for sure. And he doesn't have some skills in
- 18:02Speaker 1: other areas, too. However, we saw him getting a little
- 18:06Speaker 1: burnt again in coverage today. So we're certainly going to
- 18:09Speaker 1: get to that. Buddy, before we get to the break here,
- 18:13Speaker 1: do you have any other themes before we take that
- 18:16Speaker 1: break and then get to our grades this week?
- 18:19Speaker 2: No, absolutely.
- 18:22Speaker 3: Just adding on to what you were just talking about,
- 18:25Speaker 3: about the defensive line getting pressure, Nolan Smith was absolutely
- 18:29Speaker 3: getting pressure.
- 18:29Speaker 2: I love to see it. That's a good theme. That's
- 18:31Speaker 2: a positive theme as well.
- 18:32Speaker 4: Very positive.
- 18:33Speaker 1: If you're watching on YouTube, let us know what you
- 18:35Speaker 1: thought of our themes here. If you have any other
- 18:37Speaker 1: themes you want to share with us, leave some comments
- 18:41Speaker 1: in the YouTube comment area, as I'm just completely verklempt.
- 18:48Speaker 4: Yes.
- 18:49Speaker 2: Talking about this crap.
- 18:51Speaker 4: Who's not? All right. Taking a break. We'll be back
- 18:54Speaker 4: with our Grades by Unit.
- 18:59Speaker 1: All right. We're back with our buddy, Matt Rogers, from
- 19:01Speaker 1: the Honorable Mention podcast, where you can subscribe to his
- 19:04Speaker 1: awesome podcast on YouTube and whatever audio podcast platform you're.
- 19:08Speaker 4: Listening to us on. Let's grade....
- 19:12Speaker 1: Units this week. Quarterback, I'm going to give Jalen Hurts.
- 19:16Speaker 1: It's tough because there were some rough throws he made today.
- 19:20Speaker 1: Then again, he was on the run at times. I'm
- 19:23Speaker 1: going to give, I'm around a C plus, B minus. Yeah,
- 19:26Speaker 1: I'm thinking C plus.
- 19:28Speaker 2: I'm at C plus.
- 19:31Speaker 3: I would have gone lower had he not left the
- 19:34Speaker 3: field with a lead. I'm so much a guy about like, hey,
- 19:39Speaker 3: when you need to get it done, What happened? And
- 19:41Speaker 3: you could be having a great day. And when we
- 19:45Speaker 3: needed this one drive, you come out and you, you
- 19:47Speaker 3: three and out, or you get a pick.
- 19:49Speaker 2: And so I'm going to.
- 19:50Speaker 3: Weigh that more heavily Final exam Weighs a lot Yeah
- 19:53Speaker 3: He got a he got a B on his final exam.
- 19:57Speaker 4: Yeah. So, okay. Sounds good.
- 19:59Speaker 2: C plus.
- 20:00Speaker 4: Sounds good. C plus.
- 20:01Speaker 2: I agree.
- 20:02Speaker 4: I'm happy.
- 20:02Speaker 1: He only took one sack today. We usually don't see
- 20:05Speaker 1: that to be honest with you. It was 21 of 40,
- 20:08Speaker 1: 220 yards passing. He averaged 5.5 yards per attempt, one
- 20:12Speaker 1: touchdown and ended with a rating of 77.1, but let's
- 20:18Speaker 1: move over to the running backs.
- 20:19Speaker 4: It's a straight up F.
- 20:20Speaker 1: I mean, there's just no, there's just no other grade
- 20:23Speaker 1: that you can give the running backs as they were
- 20:25Speaker 1: averaging a 1.2 yards per attempt here.
- 20:30Speaker 4: F right.
- 20:31Speaker 2: It's easy to say.
- 20:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 20:32Speaker 2: It's easy to say I could do better than that.
- 20:34Speaker 3: I'm not going to say that because I still have
- 20:36Speaker 3: to get to the line of scrimmage. What I would
- 20:39Speaker 3: say is I'm not sure either of us or anybody
- 20:42Speaker 3: who's listening would do too much worse than what we
- 20:45Speaker 3: saw today.
- 20:45Speaker 4: Okay. Very good. Very good.
- 20:46Speaker 1: I like how you phrase that. I like how you
- 20:48Speaker 1: phrase that my friend. Let's get to the receivers and
- 20:52Speaker 1: grade them. We've got Dontavian Wicks had the majority of
- 20:56Speaker 1: targets today. Eight targets on the day. Came down with
- 20:59Speaker 1: five balls for 63 yards. Darius Cooper with a touchdown.
- 21:04Speaker 1: We got to mention the fact that, my goodness, he
- 21:06Speaker 1: has had four touchdowns in the last five games. Darius Cooper,
- 21:10Speaker 1: like I mentioned before, I mean, he is the true
- 21:13Speaker 1: number three receiver, I think, on this team. right here
- 21:16Speaker 1: at this point. I mean, he's catching, he's catching tutties.
- 21:20Speaker 1: He's catching, I can't believe I just used the word tutties.
- 21:23Speaker 1: He's catching touchdowns here.
- 21:24Speaker 2: That's what he does. That's all he does.
- 21:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 21:26Speaker 2: He's a specialist.
- 21:27Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Touchdown catcher.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Only three targets, but he caught two balls for 71 yards,
- 21:32Speaker 1: and that touchdown, which was an amazing 62-yarder. Makai Lemon
- 21:37Speaker 1: had seven targets on the day, came down with five
- 21:39Speaker 1: balls for 43 yards. Dallas Goddard was really involved in
- 21:43Speaker 1: this game, but only in that short intermediate game. He
- 21:47Speaker 1: had nine targets on the day. came down with six balls,
- 21:50Speaker 1: only 38 yards on the day. So, you know, Zach
- 21:53Speaker 1: Ertz was targeted twice, didn't come down with any balls.
- 21:56Speaker 1: Can we talk about that play? Like the play that
- 21:58Speaker 1: everybody was like, oh my gosh.
- 22:00Speaker 4: The go ball. The go ball. Go ball, Zach Ertz. Like,
- 22:05Speaker 4: I love him.
- 22:06Speaker 1: He scored a touchdown in a Super Bowl that helped
- 22:09Speaker 1: the Eagles win that Super Bowl, and I will always
- 22:11Speaker 1: love him. And it's not even him. I think it's
- 22:12Speaker 1: the coaching. Why are you throwing a go route on
- 22:16Speaker 1: third down, to old man hurts.
- 22:18Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 22:20Speaker 3: When, when, when would we have thrown a go ball to, to,
- 22:24Speaker 3: to hurts? I don't, he was not the go ball guy.
- 22:27Speaker 3: Even the best of hurts wasn't the go ball guy. Just,
- 22:33Speaker 3: I mean, covered completely on that play too, by the defender, just,
- 22:38Speaker 3: oh my gosh, just amazing. So I'm going to give
- 22:40Speaker 3: the receivers this week because they were asked to do
- 22:43Speaker 3: certain things. And the majority of the time, They were
- 22:46Speaker 3: able to get it done if Jalen Hurts was able
- 22:48Speaker 3: to get them the ball.
- 22:49Speaker 4: So I'm actually going to give him a B this week.
- 22:51Speaker 4: What do you give him?
- 22:54Speaker 2: I can't give him I give him a B minus.
- 22:56Speaker 3: OK, because because I because I don't want to grade
- 23:00Speaker 3: it too much on a curve because I because B
- 23:02Speaker 3: you start getting to be discussions and, you know.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Well, you've got your Dontavian Wicks. You've got your Dontavian
- 23:10Speaker 1: Wicks issue right there.
- 23:11Speaker 3: Yes.
- 23:12Speaker 4: And it's fair.
- 23:12Speaker 3: If he catches that ball, and let's just say he
- 23:16Speaker 3: catches it and he has to stumble over.
- 23:17Speaker 2: He just has to dive. He can't catch it and
- 23:21Speaker 2: keep going. That's fine. Then I'm comfortable with more so
- 23:26Speaker 2: the regular B.
- 23:27Speaker 4: Okay.
- 23:28Speaker 2: But just– I think I'll go B- as well. Yeah.
- 23:31Speaker 4: Yeah. I'll go B- too. All right. Yeah. Offensive line.
- 23:36Speaker 4: Dear sweet Jesus, what are you going to give them?
- 23:39Speaker 1: Because I'm thinking about this, thinking about the performance, and
- 23:42Speaker 1: I was thinking C- right now.
- 23:44Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:45Speaker 1: These poor guys getting put into this situation. I say
- 23:47Speaker 1: poor guys, but look, they're professional athletes. They are getting
- 23:51Speaker 1: paid money to be professionals, but I think put into
- 23:54Speaker 1: a situation that not even they thought was going to
- 23:57Speaker 1: be possible. Not even the front office of this organization
- 24:01Speaker 1: thought was going to be possible even three weeks ago.
- 24:04Speaker 4: So.
- 24:05Speaker 1: For them to play the way that they did, yes,
- 24:08Speaker 1: they did give Jalen Hurts some time every now and again. Yes,
- 24:11Speaker 1: there were some hiccups for sure. There were penalties. There
- 24:14Speaker 1: were issues with false starts.
- 24:20Speaker 4: I think C- is probably a fair grade. What do
- 24:23Speaker 4: you think?
- 24:25Speaker 3: Yeah, because I was thinking C, but that's when you just,
- 24:31Speaker 3: how well did they block, run block, but they were
- 24:34Speaker 3: setting this team back. And sometimes Jalen and the receivers,
- 24:38Speaker 3: even though they weren't having the best of days, they
- 24:41Speaker 3: were picking up some third and medium third and longs
- 24:44Speaker 3: that were completely impossible in previous weeks.
- 24:47Speaker 4: Yes.
- 24:47Speaker 2: So they were kind of getting bailed out on almost
- 24:49Speaker 2: killing drives.
- 24:50Speaker 3: Yep.
- 24:51Speaker 2: So I do got it.
- 24:51Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:52Speaker 2: It was not a great performance.
- 24:53Speaker 3: I mean, I just always think about Jeff after we've
- 24:56Speaker 3: come on here after, you know, the Eagles run for
- 24:59Speaker 3: 300 against green Bay or, you know, 300 against Tennessee
- 25:03Speaker 3: Titans a few years ago. And it's like to, to
- 25:06Speaker 3: think about, that's just a couple of years ago.
- 25:08Speaker 2: This is nothing. I mean, if this is a C minus,
- 25:11Speaker 2: then what the hell was that?
- 25:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:13Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 25:15Speaker 2: I'm at the gut thinking about that. I got to
- 25:17Speaker 2: give him a D plus.
- 25:19Speaker 4: I'm thinking about it in context. You know what I mean?
- 25:21Speaker 1: I'm thinking about the context of, again, like I said,
- 25:24Speaker 1: I mean, two, three weeks ago, this wasn't even happening.
- 25:29Speaker 1: this wasn't even in the realm of possibility of happening.
- 25:32Speaker 1: If you had told me two weeks ago that a
- 25:36Speaker 1: two-time Pro Bowler center who ended up having to move
- 25:38Speaker 1: to guard for a couple games was going to be
- 25:41Speaker 1: traded to the Baltimore Ravens, and then our star right tackle,
- 25:46Speaker 1: who's going to be a Hall of Famer, was going
- 25:48Speaker 1: to retire, and then we'd have other injuries. You couldn't
- 25:53Speaker 1: convince me that that would happen, and it did. So
- 25:55Speaker 1: for context... With me, that's why I'm giving the C-. Oh,
- 25:58Speaker 1: in context, they played great.
- 26:01Speaker 3: I don't think any of them actually were blowing the game, right?
- 26:05Speaker 2: I don't think they were.
- 26:08Speaker 4: It just, I see where it comes from though.
- 26:10Speaker 3: Yeah, it wasn't, it wasn't world changing offensive line play either.
- 26:13Speaker 3: They were, the trains were coming about within five minutes
- 26:16Speaker 3: of when they were supposed to be on at the station.
- 26:18Speaker 4: There you go.
- 26:19Speaker 2: There you go.
- 26:19Speaker 1: All right, let's move over to the defense defensive line
- 26:22Speaker 1: this week. I mean, look at the end of the day,
- 26:25Speaker 1: only two sacks, but I love that those two sacks
- 26:28Speaker 1: came from Jalen Carter as we talked about. He had
- 26:31Speaker 1: three tackles for a loss, one pass defended, and just really.
- 26:35Speaker 2: Two forced fumbles.
- 26:36Speaker 4: Yeah, yes, exactly.
- 26:38Speaker 1: And I cannot tell you how much I think this
- 26:42Speaker 1: is going to be a spark for the defense, how
- 26:44Speaker 1: it will translate into what it could do for the
- 26:46Speaker 1: offense in the weeks to come.
- 26:48Speaker 3: Who knows?
- 26:48Speaker 4: Who knows?
- 26:49Speaker 1: But Jalen Carter needs to keep this up for sure.
- 26:53Speaker 1: I'm going to be, and like you mentioned, Nolan Smith
- 26:55Speaker 1: was playing really well in this game too. I'm going
- 26:57Speaker 1: to give the defensive line, I'm actually going to give
- 27:00Speaker 1: them an A-minus this week. High grade, probably the highest
- 27:03Speaker 1: grade I've given them. Could be B +, but I'm
- 27:05Speaker 1: going to give them A-minus because they were difference makers
- 27:08Speaker 1: in this game. They were keeping this high-powered Jaguars offense
- 27:13Speaker 1: to only seven points, basically, before the half.
- 27:17Speaker 4: So... I'm giving them an A-. What do you give them?
- 27:21Speaker 2: I'm with the A- as well.
- 27:23Speaker 3: I wish that we could get the quarterback to the.
- 27:26Speaker 2: Ground a little more quickly.
- 27:29Speaker 3: But they really are getting the ball out so fast.
- 27:33Speaker 3: And I've got to give Trevor Lawrence some credit today.
- 27:36Speaker 3: He was so decisive.
- 27:38Speaker 4: He was.
- 27:38Speaker 3: They were talking about a lot in the pregame, and
- 27:40Speaker 3: I'm like, okay, we'll see. He really was decisive, even
- 27:45Speaker 3: under pressure.
- 27:45Speaker 4: Yep.
- 27:46Speaker 2: Got to give him credit.
- 27:47Speaker 4: Absolutely. All right.
- 27:48Speaker 1: The linebackers, as I mentioned before the break, you did
- 27:51Speaker 1: have Zach Bond with 11 total tackles on the day,
- 27:55Speaker 1: one tackle for a loss, two quarterback hits.
- 27:57Speaker 4: Bond, I believe, had a pretty good game.
- 27:59Speaker 1: He did miss some key tackles that ended up in
- 28:03Speaker 1: some first downs and even a touchdown as well. But, man,
- 28:07Speaker 1: Jihad Campbell, we're still seeing that he can be a
- 28:10Speaker 1: liability in pass protection.
- 28:12Speaker 4: He's a baller.
- 28:14Speaker 2: Past defense. Oh, I'm so sorry.
- 28:15Speaker 4: Yes. Thank you very much. Thank you.
- 28:17Speaker 1: I'm all over the place here. My, my, my brain
- 28:19Speaker 1: is scrambled eggs after watching this game. It's pudding here
- 28:24Speaker 1: at this point. So I'm going to, I'm going to
- 28:26Speaker 1: give the linebackers this week a C plus.
- 28:28Speaker 4: What do you give them?
- 28:31Speaker 2: Hmm.
- 28:34Speaker 3: Ah, at, I'm going to give him a B-. I
- 28:39Speaker 3: love the play that sticks out.
- 28:41Speaker 2: In my brain. Yes, Mr.
- 28:43Speaker 3: Campbell's getting cooked a bit. That continues. That's a theme
- 28:47Speaker 3: that persists. But again, on that jet sweep that the
- 28:53Speaker 3: Jaguars tried to run down there right before the first half,
- 29:00Speaker 3: The way Zach Bond just completely sniffed that out and
- 29:03Speaker 3: shut that play down, that was a key, one of
- 29:05Speaker 3: those key moments of the game.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Zach Bond was really good today.
- 29:09Speaker 4: He was.
- 29:10Speaker 3: Campbell was okay because he had good moments too.
- 29:14Speaker 2: Trott was out. I don't know if any other linebackers,
- 29:18Speaker 2: who even played today?
- 29:19Speaker 4: I'm not even sure. I don't know. not a hundred percent.
- 29:22Speaker 2: Sure.
- 29:22Speaker 4: If we go through.
- 29:24Speaker 3: Epinesa, Epinesa got on the field, but, but is he, yeah.
- 29:28Speaker 4: Yeah. He had a pass defended and tackle.
- 29:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:33Speaker 2: I'll go with a B minus.
- 29:34Speaker 4: Okay.
- 29:35Speaker 2: All right.
- 29:36Speaker 1: And I'm going to give the secondary this week, the
- 29:38Speaker 1: running backs and, I'm sorry, the cornerbacks and the safeties
- 29:42Speaker 1: this week, I'm actually going to give them a B plus.
- 29:45Speaker 4: I really am.
- 29:46Speaker 1: And I say that because yes, there were, yes, there
- 29:51Speaker 1: were 331 total receiving yards, but it wasn't all because
- 29:56Speaker 1: of terrible play from the secondary. Yes, there were some
- 29:59Speaker 1: hiccups for sure. But you've got Quinion Mitchell with the interception.
- 30:03Speaker 4: I think Cooper Dejean had one of his best games.
- 30:07Speaker 1: He did.
- 30:08Speaker 4: Yeah, you could just see it from the tech.
- 30:09Speaker 3: I think it was his best game of the year
- 30:11Speaker 3: this year.
- 30:11Speaker 4: He had 10 total tackles. He had two tackles for
- 30:14Speaker 4: a loss on the day.
- 30:15Speaker 1: I cannot complain about much. I mean, Rick Wolin giving
- 30:21Speaker 1: up that touchdown to, was it Parker Washington?
- 30:25Speaker 4: Parker. Yeah.
- 30:26Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 30:27Speaker 2: Parker Washington. He was right there. Just like last week.
- 30:31Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 30:32Speaker 1: Coverage almost just if he had turned his head around,
- 30:35Speaker 1: if he had turned his head around, who knows what
- 30:37Speaker 1: may have happened, but I'm going to, I'm going to
- 30:40Speaker 1: give him a B man.
- 30:41Speaker 4: I'm going to give him a B.
- 30:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:42Speaker 2: I'm going to get, I can go even higher, but
- 30:44Speaker 2: I think B is fair.
- 30:45Speaker 3: Yeah. Because they weren't, you know, completely game changers, but
- 30:49Speaker 3: they were not a liability whatsoever.
- 30:50Speaker 4: Exactly. Exactly.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Yeah. All right. Real quick, folks, we're going to take
- 30:54Speaker 1: a break before we get to some grades for our
- 30:56Speaker 1: coaches and our MVP and least valuable player award or
- 31:03Speaker 1: LVP or doo-doo. We call it the doo-doo butter award.
- 31:07Speaker 1: We are going to take a break. When we come back,
- 31:09Speaker 1: we're going to dish out those awards.
- 31:12Speaker 4: Stick with us.
- 31:15Speaker 1: All right, back with our buddy Matt Rogers from the
- 31:17Speaker 1: Honorable Mention podcast, and let's talk about special teams here
- 31:21Speaker 1: in the grade we're going to give them. My gosh,
- 31:24Speaker 1: special teams was fantastic throughout the day. Britton Covey has
- 31:29Speaker 1: truly solidified his mark on this team, I think, Matt,
- 31:32Speaker 1: as a real threat, as a punt returner. I mean,
- 31:35Speaker 1: he has gotten better and better every year. So many
- 31:38Speaker 1: of us wanted him off the team just a couple
- 31:40Speaker 1: years ago.
- 31:40Speaker 4: I mean, we really did.
- 31:42Speaker 1: But at the end of the day, my gosh, he's
- 31:44Speaker 1: averaging 10.5 yards per return.
- 31:47Speaker 4: Not bad.
- 31:47Speaker 1: His long today was 18 as well. Like, you actually
- 31:51Speaker 1: want to get some positive yards. And I'm not talking
- 31:53Speaker 1: just two or three yards or five yards. That 10.5
- 31:57Speaker 1: yards average is pretty significant. And I'm giving Britton Covey
- 32:01Speaker 1: all the credit in the world for where he has
- 32:03Speaker 1: taken his special teams game. Jake Elliott making his 48-yarder,
- 32:07Speaker 1: which was so very critical in this game, made two
- 32:11Speaker 1: extra points as well. Braden Mann averaging 50.5 yards per
- 32:17Speaker 1: punt today. Not too shabby either. But then at the
- 32:20Speaker 1: end of the game, you had the kickoff coverage completely different.
- 32:24Speaker 1: completely screw up this game and allow the Jacksonville Jaguars
- 32:29Speaker 1: and allow Logan Cook to I'm sorry not Logan Cook
- 32:32Speaker 1: Cam Little to kick that that field goal for the
- 32:36Speaker 1: win and they they failed and so in that case
- 32:40Speaker 1: what an A grade is going to be brought down
- 32:42Speaker 1: to a C what do you what do you give them.
- 32:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll go with C-plus because the initial kickoff that
- 32:53Speaker 3: got taken to the house, there was a penalty on
- 32:56Speaker 3: that one.
- 32:57Speaker 2: There were many penalties on that one.
- 33:00Speaker 4: Yes.
- 33:03Speaker 2: Many a penalty on that one. The last one, I.
- 33:08Speaker 3: Hate it so much because– and I've done some coaching.
- 33:12Speaker 3: I've coached kids basketball, football, baseball.
- 33:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:17Speaker 3: And sometimes, sometimes it really is your fault. Like sometimes you, yeah,
- 33:24Speaker 3: the kid missed the shot, but you shouldn't have put
- 33:27Speaker 3: them in that position and you kind of permanently kind
- 33:30Speaker 3: of end up. messing up people's experiences because they should
- 33:34Speaker 3: have never been in that spot because you wanted to
- 33:37Speaker 3: get style points you wanted to do it your way
- 33:39Speaker 3: right i mean what the hell was sirianni even so
- 33:42Speaker 3: i kind of want to discount that that they still
- 33:45Speaker 3: let it happen they did but they should have never
- 33:47Speaker 3: been in the situation exactly so it's hard for me to.
- 33:50Speaker 1: Because there were missed tackles on that on that return
- 33:53Speaker 1: you know like there were guys who were missing tackles.
- 33:55Speaker 3: So Thank goodness for Jonathan Jones because if they would
- 33:58Speaker 3: have housed that, that would have been so much more embarrassing.
- 34:01Speaker 4: It would have been. It would have been, actually. Yeah.
- 34:04Speaker 2: All right. Let's move to— C is fine.
- 34:06Speaker 4: C is fine. Yeah.
- 34:07Speaker 1: Vic Fangio, I think he actually had a fine day today.
- 34:11Speaker 1: A fine day, yes. Gave up, at the end of
- 34:13Speaker 1: the day, 19 points to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 34:16Speaker 4: Again, a very high-powered offense. Yeah. You should win. I'm
- 34:20Speaker 4: giving Fangio a B-plus this week. What do you give him?
- 34:22Speaker 2: Same.
- 34:23Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 34:23Speaker 2: Same.
- 34:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 34:24Speaker 4: All right.
- 34:24Speaker 3: You got to— You're holding guys to 24 and 19 points.
- 34:28Speaker 2: You got to win those damn games, period.
- 34:30Speaker 1: I am going to be giving, and this is bizarre
- 34:32Speaker 1: for the offensive coaching, Sean Mannion, Nick Sirianni. I hate
- 34:36Speaker 1: using the word plus in any way, shape, or form,
- 34:39Speaker 1: but I'm going to give an F plus. And I'm
- 34:42Speaker 1: giving the F plus.
- 34:46Speaker 4: I'm giving the.
- 34:47Speaker 1: F plus the pluses for that Dontavian Wicks, that go route. When,
- 34:52Speaker 1: when you had, um, when you had zero coverage and
- 34:56Speaker 1: it was just. Third and 13.
- 35:00Speaker 4: Yes.
- 35:00Speaker 2: And Stutter go.
- 35:01Speaker 4: Should have, should have had that, should have had that
- 35:03Speaker 4: would have been a score. What that would have done
- 35:05Speaker 4: to the game.
- 35:06Speaker 1: And that was, that was, could have been one of
- 35:07Speaker 1: the best calls all season by Mannion and Sirianni, but
- 35:11Speaker 1: I'm giving them an F plus because I am tired
- 35:13Speaker 1: of the same old shit.
- 35:15Speaker 4: Every freaking week.
- 35:16Speaker 1: And the themes that we have talked about for five weeks,
- 35:19Speaker 1: going back to last season, we're still talking about the
- 35:22Speaker 1: same themes, Matt. And it's a Sirianni thing. It's an
- 35:27Speaker 1: offensive coordinator thing. It's a lot of this. And I'm
- 35:30Speaker 1: giving him an F +.
- 35:32Speaker 4: What do you give him?
- 35:34Speaker 2: So I guess I'm being a little more charitable on
- 35:37Speaker 2: this one. You were before, too.
- 35:39Speaker 4: I'm going to give him a D +.
- 35:41Speaker 2: Okay.
- 35:41Speaker 1: A D +.
- 35:41Speaker 2: I'm going to give him a D +.
- 35:43Speaker 4: Okay.
- 35:43Speaker 2: And I'm going to say.
- 35:45Speaker 3: because the ingredients that they're using are unfamiliar and subpar.
- 35:52Speaker 4: That's a good point. Good point. It is a good point.
- 35:55Speaker 3: Even if they are good players, you don't really know
- 35:59Speaker 3: what you have. So you don't really get to call
- 36:01Speaker 3: certain stuff with any level of conviction other than just
- 36:06Speaker 3: blind hope.
- 36:06Speaker 2: So, I, and I'm not enthused.
- 36:11Speaker 3: About the, the, the offense, especially with the running back position.
- 36:16Speaker 3: But I mean, what the hell, what the hell are
- 36:18Speaker 3: you going to do when you've, all you can do
- 36:22Speaker 3: is throw the ball and your number one receiver is
- 36:25Speaker 3: Dontavion Wicks.
- 36:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 36:26Speaker 3: I mean, not to disrespect Dontavion Wicks, Dontavion Wicks has
- 36:29Speaker 3: been making plays all season, but.
- 36:33Speaker 2: That that's not, he's not Jamar Chase. He's not Dustin Jefferson.
- 36:36Speaker 2: So yeah.
- 36:37Speaker 3: You know, you're getting, you're playing football with one hand
- 36:39Speaker 3: tied behind your back and, you know, you know, a,
- 36:43Speaker 3: a broken, you know, big toe with the offensive line.
- 36:46Speaker 2: So it's like, ah, this is why I love you.
- 36:49Speaker 4: This is why I love you. You are very fair.
- 36:51Speaker 4: You are very fair.
- 36:52Speaker 1: And I'll say, you know what? I'm going to take
- 36:53Speaker 1: my F plus and I'm going to bring it up
- 36:55Speaker 1: to a D plus. I'm going to do that because
- 36:58Speaker 1: you are a fair individual.
- 37:00Speaker 4: My friend.
- 37:01Speaker 1: I tried to lay down a good point. You laid
- 37:02Speaker 1: out very good points. You really, you really did. It's
- 37:05Speaker 1: about the ingredients and, but they still, there's still a
- 37:08Speaker 1: lot of doo-doo.
- 37:09Speaker 4: Butter and we're going to get to some. Oh, it sucks.
- 37:11Speaker 2: There are reasons that it sucks.
- 37:13Speaker 1: It doesn't suck for no reason. Well, let's give our
- 37:16Speaker 1: MVP award out. I think we're probably going to have
- 37:19Speaker 1: the same player. I'm going with Jalen Carter, MVP in
- 37:23Speaker 1: this game. 100% absolutely deserves it.
- 37:27Speaker 4: I hope we see this Jalen Carter from here on
- 37:29Speaker 4: out this season.
- 37:31Speaker 2: We won't, but it was glad to see you today, Jalen.
- 37:33Speaker 4: Yes, it was.
- 37:34Speaker 3: Just past his prologue, he does this a good six
- 37:38Speaker 3: out of 17 games a season where he's the best
- 37:41Speaker 3: freaking player in football.
- 37:43Speaker 4: I'll take it. I'll take it.
- 37:45Speaker 3: I will.
- 37:46Speaker 4: I'll take it.
- 37:47Speaker 1: And we're going to need it. We're going to need
- 37:49Speaker 1: to hold on to that hope for sure.
- 37:51Speaker 3: I love that he can summon it, though. You can
- 37:53Speaker 3: tell on certain plays, too.
- 37:55Speaker 4: Watch, guys.
- 37:56Speaker 2: Fans of the team.
- 37:57Speaker 3: Sorry to belabor your show, but you could see it.
- 37:59Speaker 4: He lines up.
- 38:00Speaker 3: With a certain ferocity as like a look to him,
- 38:02Speaker 3: a little swagger. He puts his hand on the ground
- 38:05Speaker 3: and you could just tell he's going to take over
- 38:06Speaker 3: on that play. could see it a lot when he's
- 38:09Speaker 3: uh locked in on these uh because he's he really
- 38:11Speaker 3: has taken a interest in blocking these field goals you
- 38:14Speaker 3: can see he's he the ability to summon that is
- 38:19Speaker 3: laudable but it's like i need you to be here
- 38:21Speaker 3: all the time why are you doing this yeah sometimes
- 38:25Speaker 3: yeah you're you could be do you know who you
- 38:28Speaker 3: could be if you did this all the time yes
- 38:31Speaker 3: golly exactly We love them MVP in this game.
- 38:36Speaker 1: Let's move over to who gets the doo-doo butter award
- 38:40Speaker 1: this week for this Eagles team, the doo-doo butter award
- 38:43Speaker 1: who played, who was just crap this week. Nick Sirianni.
- 38:48Speaker 3: He's he's, I mean, there are players, you know, who could,
- 38:52Speaker 3: who certainly could qualify, but coaches, coaches.
- 38:57Speaker 2: And players are, lose games and win games.
- 39:00Speaker 3: And Nick Sirianni with the boneheaded decision to try to
- 39:04Speaker 3: with style points to make his special teams have to
- 39:08Speaker 3: bring the guys down. When, even if you did a
- 39:11Speaker 3: illegal procedure, let's say, even if you did a legal
- 39:14Speaker 3: procedure and they started the 40, they still have to
- 39:18Speaker 3: drive another 10, 15 yards as opposed to what happened there.
- 39:23Speaker 3: So he completely threw that away. The the, the, the
- 39:28Speaker 3: way that folks are feeling after winning that game is
- 39:30Speaker 3: completely different.
- 39:31Speaker 4: Absolutely.
- 39:32Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 39:33Speaker 2: Folks are feeling now.
- 39:34Speaker 1: I'll go Sean Mannion for my doo doo butter award.
- 39:36Speaker 1: So it's the offensive coaching at the end of the day.
- 39:38Speaker 1: It's the offensive coaching at the end of the day.
- 39:41Speaker 1: I think we just heard what one of our.
- 39:43Speaker 2: Favorites, uh, Give me one second, Jeff.
- 39:47Speaker 1: Yeah, sure thing. One of our favorites there, Matt's son.
- 39:51Speaker 1: Absolutely love him. And look, folks, it's amazing to see
- 39:57Speaker 1: where this team is at. None of us thought we
- 39:59Speaker 1: were going to be seeing this type of Philadelphia Eagles
- 40:01Speaker 1: team here in this 2026-2027 season. Hopes were very high.
- 40:07Speaker 1: You can go back in the feed and you can
- 40:10Speaker 1: see what our particular predictions were going to be for
- 40:13Speaker 1: this Eagles team. And again, nobody could have predicted this.
- 40:17Speaker 1: So at the end of the day, folks, he is
- 40:19Speaker 1: Matt Rogers. Matt, buddy, thanks so.
- 40:22Speaker 2: Much for having me.
- 40:23Speaker 4: Really appreciate it, buddy. Absolutely. Appreciate the little one. And folks,
- 40:28Speaker 4: that's going to do it for us here. This Eagles postgame.
- 40:31Speaker 1: Podcast show again see uh week five in the books
- 40:34Speaker 1: jacksonville jaguars beating the philadelphia eagles by a score of
- 40:37Speaker 1: 19 to 17 eagles are now two and three on
- 40:40Speaker 1: the season that's gonna do it for us folks take
- 40:43Speaker 1: care and uh we will catch you next time
