- 1:26SPEAKER_08: Yeah, we talked about Stapleton.
- 1:28SPEAKER_08: Um this uh singer, this rock singer, I follow her on Instagram now.
- 1:34SPEAKER_08: I don't know where she came from.
- 1:36SPEAKER_08: I think she's been around for a long time, I think.
- 1:39SPEAKER_08: But she's kicked butt, Dorothy?
- 1:41SPEAKER_04: Yeah, oh yeah.
- 1:42SPEAKER_04: Well she did she did a song with uh Nita Strauss on her left.
- 1:46SPEAKER_04: That's right, that's right, that's right.
- 1:47SPEAKER_08: And I think I maybe that's when I started following her.
- 1:49SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:50SPEAKER_08: But did she just like drop out of like the ether?
- 1:54SPEAKER_08: Because I mean, has she been around for a while?
- 1:56SPEAKER_04: She must have been, but nobody's heard of her until last couple years.
- 2:00SPEAKER_04: Gotta killer voice.
- 2:02SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah, she's great.
- 2:10SPEAKER_08: Let's do it.
- 2:11SPEAKER_08: Key to the highway with Dorothy and Flat.
- 2:22SPEAKER_07: So it's blues, but it's like dirtier.
- 2:26SPEAKER_07: It's like uh, I don't know.
- 2:28SPEAKER_04: That's it's it's Guns N' Roses fied something.
- 2:33SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 2:34SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 2:34SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 2:34SPEAKER_08: Although he didn't use his uh I read a cuz uh in the latest issue of Guitar World.
- 2:40SPEAKER_08: Um was it the latest issue?
- 2:43SPEAKER_08: Yeah, no, it was the latest issue because they're talking about he went on he's on this um concert tour now, the Serpent Festival.
- 2:50SPEAKER_08: So this is after Guns N' Roses finished their tour, which was extensive, and uh he he went right to work on this album and followed it up with a short blues tour.
- 3:04SPEAKER_08: So he's doing this a tour called the Serpent Tour, and you got everybody from Gary Clark Jr.
- 3:08SPEAKER_08: on there.
- 3:09SPEAKER_08: Um uh there's all the people on the album.
- 3:12SPEAKER_08: Yeah, or I should say most of the people on the album.
- 3:15SPEAKER_08: Um and he's just touring, he's it's a small tour.
- 3:19SPEAKER_08: But uh I don't know where I was going with that.
- 3:25SPEAKER_08: Nowhere.
- 3:29SPEAKER_08: Oh no, I was reading.
- 3:30SPEAKER_08: I was reading.
- 3:31SPEAKER_08: He didn't use his signature Les Paul.
- 3:33SPEAKER_08: Oh, okay.
- 3:34SPEAKER_08: Uh he used like uh he used well I know there's a he used a telecaster, he used a strat.
- 3:38SPEAKER_08: He may have used his les paul like a time.
- 3:40SPEAKER_04: I'm sure he did.
- 3:41SPEAKER_04: Of course not.
- 3:42SPEAKER_08: It's a comfort thing.
- 3:43SPEAKER_04: It's his it's it's his go-to.
- 3:45SPEAKER_08: Yeah, yeah.
- 3:45SPEAKER_08: But I'm I'm really happy with it.
- 3:47SPEAKER_08: I think it's uh it is a great, great.
- 3:49SPEAKER_08: I love this version of uh Stevie Wonder's living for the city with somebody else I haven't heard of.
- 3:55SPEAKER_08: Tash Neal.
- 3:57SPEAKER_08: Nope, don't know who it is.
- 3:58SPEAKER_08: No idea.
- 3:59SPEAKER_08: Great uh great voice.
- 4:13SPEAKER_08: I was watching a uh Rick Beato episode last night.
- 4:20SPEAKER_08: Uh it was with Tom uh with Uncle Larry, which is what what we they affectionately call Tom Bukuvac.
- 4:27SPEAKER_08: Tom Bukuvac is a stretching guitar, legendary stretching guitar player at Nashville, amazing guitar player, but they call him Uncle Larry for some reason.
- 4:35SPEAKER_08: Um and another guy named Guthrie Trapp.
- 4:38SPEAKER_08: And Rick Biotto asked them, he says, When you do a session, you know, the music is not difficult anymore.
- 4:52SPEAKER_08: And Tom Bukaback is like, oh, it's four chords.
- 4:56SPEAKER_08: It's like every song, pop, country, it's four chords.
- 4:59SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 4:59SPEAKER_08: And he says, when did that change?
- 5:01SPEAKER_08: Rick Beato asked, he's like, You think of a band like Genesis, you know, where there were a lot of chords.
- 5:10SPEAKER_08: Uh, and we've talked about how actually John Mayer talked about how in the 80s the music was a lot more sophisticated.
- 5:17SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 5:18SPEAKER_08: Because there was a lot more changes, a lot more modulation, a lot more Well, there was a lot more toys to play with, too.
- 5:23SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 5:24SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 5:24SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 5:25SPEAKER_08: But and and and now lately, and Rick Beato kind of complains about this, it's predictable.
- 5:32SPEAKER_08: Every song is has the same structure.
- 5:34SPEAKER_04: Well, yeah, we I mean we did the Laney Wilson song last week.
- 5:37SPEAKER_04: Right, right, right.
- 5:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 5:38SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 5:39SPEAKER_04: Alex Lifeston invented his own cord.
- 5:43SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 5:43SPEAKER_01: What did you do today?
- 5:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 5:45SPEAKER_04: I mean, so, you know, whatever.
- 5:48SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 5:48SPEAKER_04: They they just don't.
- 5:49SPEAKER_04: I'm sorry, they just don't make them like they used to.
- 5:52SPEAKER_08: But like, like, I'm just listening to this, Living for the Cities, TV Wonder.
- 5:59SPEAKER_04: TV's a musical genius.
- 6:01SPEAKER_08: It's just Totch Neal and vocal.
- 6:06SPEAKER_08: But the breakdown in this, they were talking about like like real chords.
- 6:11SPEAKER_08: Like, you know, your your 1311 chords and just, you know, Steely Dan type stuff.
- 6:18SPEAKER_08: Yeah, you know?
- 6:19SPEAKER_08: That nobody does that anymore.
- 6:20SPEAKER_08: Well, they do, but you don't hear it on the radio.
- 6:22SPEAKER_04: Well, no, because it's not.
- 6:24SPEAKER_04: It's not right.
- 6:26SPEAKER_04: It's not ear candy.
- 6:27SPEAKER_07: Like.
- 6:40SPEAKER_08: Toto, perfect example.
- 6:41SPEAKER_08: Oh yeah.
- 6:42SPEAKER_08: Full of just funky chords, man.
- 6:44SPEAKER_04: Jeff Bacaro, one of the greatest underrated drummers of all time.
- 6:51SPEAKER_08: Yeah, I I would say he's underrated to the general public.
- 6:54SPEAKER_08: I would say to the drumming community.
- 6:56SPEAKER_08: To the droning community.
- 6:57SPEAKER_08: He is huge.
- 6:57SPEAKER_04: I mean, he's he's right up there with Neil Pearr.
- 7:00SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 7:00SPEAKER_04: But uh, you know, but he was on, you know, I mean, those guys were on so many songs in the 70s and 80s.
- 7:07SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 7:07SPEAKER_04: Even before they were Toto.
- 7:08SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 7:09SPEAKER_08: You know what I mean?
- 7:10SPEAKER_08: So anyway, that was a great episode in case you haven't seen that yet.
- 7:14SPEAKER_04: Well, I'll have to check it out.
- 7:15SPEAKER_08: Uh Guthrie Trapp and and uh Tom Bukowac from I like I like Rick.
- 7:19SPEAKER_08: Oh yeah, Rick Beato is a great interviewer.
- 7:21SPEAKER_08: Can we call him Uncle Rick?
- 7:22SPEAKER_08: Uncle Rick.
- 7:22SPEAKER_08: Sure.
- 7:23SPEAKER_04: I mean I have an Uncle Rick.
- 7:25SPEAKER_04: It'll be a little confusing.
- 7:27SPEAKER_04: Maybe I'll I'll I was gonna call Uncle Ricky, but I call my Uncle Rick Uncle Ricky.
- 7:33SPEAKER_08: I'll think of something too.
- 7:34SPEAKER_08: We'll think of something.
- 7:35SPEAKER_08: Uh Did you hear, and I have to point some uh point this out because it's kind of gone viral.
- 7:42SPEAKER_08: Um do you know who Ingrid Andrass is?
- 7:46SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 7:46SPEAKER_08: You do?
- 7:47SPEAKER_08: No.
- 7:47SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 7:48SPEAKER_08: Um let me share I have no idea what you're talking about.
- 7:50SPEAKER_04: Let me share a she's actually a I have no idea what you're talking about.
- 7:54SPEAKER_04: Can I stay on the podcast?
- 7:56SPEAKER_04: This is actually kind of a sad thing.
- 7:58SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 7:58SPEAKER_08: Um not sad, sad, but she's got this great song uh that she released I wanna say five years ago?
- 8:07SPEAKER_08: Something like that.
- 8:08SPEAKER_08: Hermit's tickling my head.
- 8:09SPEAKER_08: I'm sorry.
- 8:11SPEAKER_08: Oh, actually, I don't know.
- 8:12SPEAKER_08: What's happening?
- 8:13SPEAKER_08: This isn't the one I wanted.
- 8:14SPEAKER_08: I want the actual I want the video here.
- 8:16SPEAKER_02: I want the video too.
- 8:17SPEAKER_08: Um where is it?
- 8:26SPEAKER_04: I just had it.
- 8:28SPEAKER_08: It's gone.
- 8:28SPEAKER_08: Okay, well, here's a YouTube has already banned it.
- 8:31SPEAKER_08: Here's a uh a lyric video of it.
- 8:33SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 8:34SPEAKER_08: So this came out about five five years ago, so four or five.
- 8:37SPEAKER_10: I can't wait to show you where I grew up.
- 8:42SPEAKER_10: Walk you around the foothills of my town.
- 8:47SPEAKER_10: Probably feel like you've been there before, after hearing all the stories I've been telling you for six months now.
- 8:58SPEAKER_08: I remember hearing this and thinking, This is amazing.
- 9:00SPEAKER_10: We'll probably have to sleep in separate bedrooms.
- 9:05SPEAKER_08: She's bringing her boyfriend home to meet her family.
- 9:12SPEAKER_10: I'm not trying to scare you off, but I just thought that we should talk a few things out before we get if I bring you home to mama, I guess I'd better one yeah.
- 9:29SPEAKER_10: She falls in love a little faster than I do.
- 9:35SPEAKER_10: My devil check your tires, pour your whiskey over ice and take your fish and butt.
- 9:46SPEAKER_10: Oh, if we break up, I'll be fine.
- 9:52SPEAKER_10: But you'll be breaking more hearts than mine.
- 9:57SPEAKER_08: Wow, yeah, that's pretty cool.
- 9:58SPEAKER_08: I mean, it's a great song.
- 9:59SPEAKER_08: More heart more hearts than mine is what it's called.
- 10:02SPEAKER_08: Um, anyway, uh, she's going viral.
- 10:05SPEAKER_08: Um, not in a good way.
- 10:08SPEAKER_10: Um Who's brought stripes and bright stars through the rounds we are the all-star game?
- 10:27SPEAKER_04: Home run derby.
- 11:22SPEAKER_02: Bless your heart.
- 11:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so that was painful.
- 11:33SPEAKER_04: So Start off nice.
- 11:36SPEAKER_08: That's really loud.
- 11:37SPEAKER_08: Sorry, that was a commercial.
- 11:39SPEAKER_08: So, um, like I said, she can sing.
- 11:41SPEAKER_08: She can't sing.
- 11:42SPEAKER_08: She's a fantastic singer and a fantastic singer.
- 11:43SPEAKER_04: But she obviously does not know the star final movie.
- 11:46SPEAKER_08: Well, she came out uh today, and this is the sad part, and she apologized.
- 11:52SPEAKER_04: Please tell me she wasn't drunk or high.
- 11:54SPEAKER_08: She was really drunk.
- 11:56SPEAKER_04: What is wrong with that?
- 11:57SPEAKER_08: She was really drunk and she has um admitted herself to a rehab facility.
- 12:03SPEAKER_08: I don't know if she actually has, or if that's damage control.
- 12:08SPEAKER_08: Um but she said that she was really drunk.
- 12:12SPEAKER_08: So my question is if you're going to sing the national anthem, what what are you thinking?
- 12:22SPEAKER_08: Number one, learn it.
- 12:24SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 12:25SPEAKER_04: Number two, don't be drunk.
- 12:27unknown: Right.
- 12:28SPEAKER_08: And obviously there's a problem there.
- 12:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 12:30SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 12:30SPEAKER_08: So Yeah, I just felt I thought that was so unfortunate.
- 12:34SPEAKER_08: Because I really like her.
- 12:35SPEAKER_08: And I still do.
- 12:36SPEAKER_08: I mean, uh, she's a fantastic songwriter.
- 12:40SPEAKER_04: But it it's hard.
- 12:41SPEAKER_04: It's hard doing it a cappella, number one.
- 12:43SPEAKER_08: Of course, it's one of the hardest songs to sing ever.
- 12:45SPEAKER_04: Ever.
- 12:46SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 12:46SPEAKER_04: And number two, you know, it's it's a big stage.
- 12:50SPEAKER_04: I mean, you know, people watch the Home Room Derby probably more than a regular baseball game.
- 12:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 12:56SPEAKER_04: You know what I mean?
- 12:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 12:56SPEAKER_04: I mean, it's all Starbreak, so you know there's gonna there's gonna be a lot of people tuning in from, you know, it's not just your team playing, it's like all the teams are playing.
- 13:06SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 13:06SPEAKER_04: So, yeah, there's there's a lot of pressure there, you know.
- 13:10SPEAKER_04: So I mean, I don't, you know, I just wish she'd it would have been better.
- 13:15SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 13:17SPEAKER_04: But what Evs Nothing we can do about it now.
- 13:21SPEAKER_08: So not that we were doing this, not that we might want to make this a part of the.
- 13:25SPEAKER_04: Are you talking about Jack Black?
- 13:26SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 13:27SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 13:27SPEAKER_08: I was gonna play it, but maybe I won't.
- 13:29SPEAKER_08: Um did you see his statement?
- 13:31SPEAKER_08: Yes.
- 13:32SPEAKER_08: And I thought that was classy.
- 13:33SPEAKER_04: That was super classy.
- 13:34SPEAKER_04: I mean, I have I have I mean, I always respected Jack Black as a musician and an actor and a comedian.
- 13:41SPEAKER_04: But I my respect for him went up even more.
- 13:44SPEAKER_08: So if you've been under a rock uh and you don't know what we're talking about, let's just recap.
- 13:48SPEAKER_08: So obviously we're not gonna go into detail about this because we don't talk politics on this podcast, but obviously we can't really ignore the elephant in the room that uh there was an assassination attempt on President Trump, former President Trump, on Saturday.
- 14:03SPEAKER_08: Saturday.
- 14:04SPEAKER_08: Saturday.
- 14:05SPEAKER_08: And so, you know, there's all kinds of fallout with that, and everybody's taking sides and everybody's, you know, turned down the temperature and all this stuff, you know.
- 14:14SPEAKER_08: And so um there was video uh of a live performance by Tenacious D, which is Jack Black and Kyle Gass.
- 14:23SPEAKER_08: Um been partners forever.
- 14:26SPEAKER_08: And it was Kyle Gass's birthday.
- 14:28SPEAKER_08: They're on tour in Australia, actually.
- 14:31SPEAKER_08: And so it was Kyle's birthday, and they brought out like this giant robot, it looked like yeah, something I can't you can't really tell from that.
- 14:38SPEAKER_08: And it was bringing him a cake to blow out the candles, and and so Jack Black says, you know, Kyle, make a wish.
- 14:45SPEAKER_08: And Kyle Gass, they're comedians, okay?
- 14:49SPEAKER_08: But you gotta know where the line is.
- 14:52SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 14:52SPEAKER_08: And most people most comedians will say there is no line.
- 14:55SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 14:56SPEAKER_08: But Kyle Gass said, Don't miss Trump next time.
- 14:59SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 15:00SPEAKER_08: Um and which which got a relatively positive reaction from the audience, or it seemed like anyway, or maybe they were just laughing.
- 15:08SPEAKER_08: I don't know.
- 15:09SPEAKER_04: I'm sure they were just laughing, but when a member of Australian Parliament is saying, Let's deport these guys, you cross the line.
- 15:16SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 15:17SPEAKER_08: So But it didn't take long, uh because uh obviously it surprised Jack Black.
- 15:22SPEAKER_08: He kind of moved on really quickly.
- 15:25SPEAKER_08: Um and in his statement he said he was blindsided by what by what Kyle said.
- 15:29SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 15:30SPEAKER_08: And I I don't have the statement in front of me, but it was pretty classy.
- 15:33SPEAKER_08: It was very classy.
- 15:34SPEAKER_08: And they canceled the rest of the tour.
- 15:35SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 15:36SPEAKER_04: You know, so um Which ironically was gonna end in October in Pennsylvania.
- 15:41SPEAKER_08: Oh, was it really?
- 15:42SPEAKER_08: I didn't know that part.
- 15:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 15:43SPEAKER_04: So I read also read that Kyle Gas has been dropped by his publicity firm.
- 15:51SPEAKER_04: Really?
- 15:52SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 15:53SPEAKER_08: So Well I am not about canceling people.
- 15:58SPEAKER_04: But that's a lot of heat.
- 16:01SPEAKER_08: It is a lot of heat.
- 16:02SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 16:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and and and if you're I'm not sure I'm I'm not saying he won't get picked up or rehired by somebody else.
- 16:08SPEAKER_08: Right, right, eventually.
- 16:10SPEAKER_04: Eventually.
- 16:10SPEAKER_08: But right now everybody's just like obviously he's not a fan of Trump and he was trying to be funny.
- 16:19SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 16:19SPEAKER_08: You know, but you gotta take the temperature of the Well, you gotta you know I mean I know you're in Australia.
- 16:24SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 16:25SPEAKER_04: You know, I understand that.
- 16:26SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 16:26SPEAKER_04: You know, so I I think that's probably if he had been anywhere else, if he'd been in the States, he probably wouldn't have said it.
- 16:34SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 16:34SPEAKER_07: That's true.
- 16:35SPEAKER_04: But being in Australia, you're like, oh well, I got it was like the Dixie Chicks.
- 16:38SPEAKER_04: I was just gonna say the Dixie Chicks.
- 16:40SPEAKER_08: Yeah, yeah.
- 16:40SPEAKER_04: You know, when they were in London and they said all these things about Bush 43.
- 16:43SPEAKER_08: Yeah, we're not proud that Bush is from Texas.
- 16:46SPEAKER_04: Yeah, something like that, you know?
- 16:47SPEAKER_04: It's like, yeah, okay, you could, you know, you're definitely not gonna say that in Texas.
- 16:50SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 16:51SPEAKER_04: You know what I mean?
- 16:52SPEAKER_04: So you know, but I just think people, you know, when they're overseas, they say stuff about America, and it's like, well, I get it.
- 16:59SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you have free speech here.
- 17:02SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 17:02SPEAKER_04: You know, whatever you say, you know, you know, it's it's it just reflects poorly on you.
- 17:07SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 17:07SPEAKER_04: You know what I mean?
- 17:08SPEAKER_08: Yeah, make better choices.
- 17:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I mean, I say stupid things all the time.
- 17:11SPEAKER_04: On this podcast on this podcast.
- 17:14SPEAKER_04: Go back to the other 203 episodes.
- 17:16SPEAKER_04: I'm sure you'll find at least one on every one.
- 17:19SPEAKER_04: I've said something super stupid.
- 17:20SPEAKER_08: Yeah, but you've never said anything like that.
- 17:24SPEAKER_04: Well, I mean, you know, uh okay.
- 17:26SPEAKER_04: Am I a fan of Taylor Swift?
- 17:28SPEAKER_04: No.
- 17:28SPEAKER_01: No.
- 17:28SPEAKER_04: Uh will I continue to make fun of Taylor Swift?
- 17:31SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 17:32SPEAKER_01: I mean, I think of what I did, I do think of uh the British episode.

- 29:30SPEAKER_08: Somebody, somebody.
- 29:32SPEAKER_04: I mean, they've been around forever.
- 29:33SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 29:34SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 29:35SPEAKER_08: Why is Rambo on our screen?
- 29:37SPEAKER_08: Uh, because I was reading this article, I thought it was kind of funny.
- 29:39SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 29:40SPEAKER_08: Um, so one of my favorite Sylvester Stallone movies, First Blood.
- 29:45SPEAKER_04: Oh, it's one of the greatest, right?
- 29:47SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 29:47SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 29:48SPEAKER_08: Do you know why there wasn't a lot of dialogue?
- 29:51SPEAKER_08: You know there originally was a lot of dialogue in that movie?
- 29:53SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 29:53SPEAKER_04: You did?
- 29:54SPEAKER_04: Well, there's a whole there's a whole alternate ending where he kills himself.
- 29:58SPEAKER_08: Well, you told me that uh before.
- 30:00SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 30:01SPEAKER_08: But I guess there was a he had a lot of dialogue.
- 30:05SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 30:06SPEAKER_08: And according to this article on ultimate classicrock.com, of course, this movie is based on a novel by David Morrell uh from 1972.
- 30:16SPEAKER_08: Uh Stallone saw the first cut of the movie, and he said it was so bad.
- 30:25SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 30:26SPEAKER_08: Uh they tried to buy it back and burn the negative.
- 30:31SPEAKER_08: Uh he said originally it was three hours long.
- 30:34SPEAKER_08: Um he stayed an hour and a half in the woods chasing guys, plus he was pontificating throughout the thing.
- 30:40SPEAKER_08: For example, I'd shoot an owl and the owl drops, and I go, take that, you mouse munching mother.
- 30:46SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 30:47SPEAKER_08: Um so he had a plan to fix.
- 30:50SPEAKER_08: He said, Here's a good idea.
- 30:51SPEAKER_08: Cut all cut out all of my dialogue.
- 30:54SPEAKER_08: Every line.
- 30:56SPEAKER_08: And have the other people talk about Rambo.
- 31:00SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 31:00SPEAKER_08: Which is what they did.
- 31:01SPEAKER_04: Which makes more sense.
- 31:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 31:02SPEAKER_04: Which is more like the is more you know, more like the book.
- 31:06SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 31:06SPEAKER_08: So he says, which is, by the way, is not a bad way to live in general.
- 31:10unknown: Yeah.
- 31:11SPEAKER_04: Just stop talking.
- 31:12SPEAKER_08: Stop talking, yeah.
- 31:12SPEAKER_08: Let other people talk about you.
- 31:14SPEAKER_08: Um it went from three hours to 90 minutes.
- 31:17SPEAKER_08: Uh let's see, it was a big success at the at the box office, earning 125 million at the box office, almost exactly the same amount as his other movie that same year, Rocky III.
- 31:27SPEAKER_08: Uh four more uh Rambo movies followed as the franchise earned over$800 million collectively, with the most recent being 2019's Rambo Last Blood, which I have yet to see.
- 31:38SPEAKER_08: So good.
- 31:38SPEAKER_08: Uh it's funny, this must be an old because it says Rambo movies ranked worst to best.
- 31:45SPEAKER_08: Uh Stallone's Rambo from 2008 is number four.
- 31:49SPEAKER_08: Rambo Three is number three, Rambo Two is number two, and First Blood is number one.
- 31:54SPEAKER_08: Oh, they don't have the newest list.
- 31:55SPEAKER_08: They don't have the last one.
- 31:57SPEAKER_04: That must be an old listing.
- 31:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it had to be.
- 31:59SPEAKER_04: But it it's perfect, it's it's an exact opposite order.
- 32:02SPEAKER_08: You're right.
- 32:02SPEAKER_08: So you think so?
- 32:04SPEAKER_04: Well, it's it's the newest movie is the worst.
- 32:07SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 32:08SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 32:08SPEAKER_04: To the to the the best movie, which was the first one.
- 32:11SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 32:11SPEAKER_08: So would you put uh Last Blood like second?
- 32:17SPEAKER_04: I would probably put it I would probably put it third.
- 32:21SPEAKER_08: Yeah, so you could go first blood as the first one.
- 32:23SPEAKER_04: First blood, and then Rambo two, which was pretty pretty great.
- 32:26SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 32:26SPEAKER_04: And then I vaguely remember Rambo Two.
- 32:29SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 32:29SPEAKER_08: He goes back to Vietnam.
- 32:30SPEAKER_04: He goes back to Vietnam because it was POWs.
- 32:32SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 32:32SPEAKER_04: And then I would put Last Blood, and then I would put Rambo, and then I'd put Rambo three.
- 32:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah, right.
- 32:38SPEAKER_04: I really didn't like Rambo three that much.
- 32:40SPEAKER_04: Which one was that?
- 32:41SPEAKER_04: That's the one where he goes to Afghanistan and and hooks up with the with the uh the the Taliban, or which I should say the guys that became the Taliban.
- 32:50SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 32:51SPEAKER_04: So I don't even remember that one.
- 32:52SPEAKER_04: I mean I I think I vaguely remember that.
- 32:53SPEAKER_04: It's the one where he gets he gets like an explosion of this and the stick goes into his side, so he pulls a stick out, and then he takes the uh he takes the round out of a out of a AK-47 round and puts the powder in it and he sets it on fire to cauterise it.
- 33:08SPEAKER_04: Oh, I do remember that.
- 33:08SPEAKER_04: Yeah, he just like fire shoots out both sides of his shit of his uh side.
- 33:12SPEAKER_08: I do remember.
- 33:13SPEAKER_04: I was like, man, that's cool though.
- 33:15SPEAKER_08: Now that you mention it.
- 33:18SPEAKER_04: I thought that was pretty great.
- 33:19SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 33:20SPEAKER_04: But uh the movie itself is kind of a turd.
- 33:22SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 33:23SPEAKER_04: Um, you know.
- 33:24SPEAKER_04: He was he was just he was just way too ripped.
- 33:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I'm sorry.
- 33:29SPEAKER_04: Yeah, for being out of it.
- 33:30SPEAKER_04: You know, you know, he's been living in a in a in a Buddhist monastery for, you know, since the second movie.
- 33:36SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 33:36SPEAKER_04: You know, when he walked off, you know, and left the you know, left the tarmac, you know, shot up the the computer screens and everything like that.
- 33:43SPEAKER_04: And he's been living and he looks even but he was doing that uh stick fighting thing.
- 33:48SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 33:48SPEAKER_04: So that was like the beginning of the movie where the you know Colonel Trotman finds him, you know, stick fighting and you know.
- 33:54SPEAKER_04: But he did but he was way too cut.
- 33:56SPEAKER_08: It was just way too cut.
- 33:57SPEAKER_08: The first movie to me still is Oh, the first one was the best.
- 34:00SPEAKER_08: So classic.
- 34:01SPEAKER_08: And anytime it's on, yeah.
- 34:03SPEAKER_08: If I've if I'm dialing around, I'm gonna stop and watch it.
- 34:05SPEAKER_08: I gotta watch it.
- 34:06SPEAKER_08: Oh yeah.
- 34:06SPEAKER_08: David Caruso's in it.
- 34:08SPEAKER_04: I mean, you know, he's kind of an idiot.
- 34:09SPEAKER_08: And Brian Denehee, the sheriff.
- 34:10SPEAKER_08: Oh yeah.
- 34:11SPEAKER_08: He's a jerk.
- 34:11SPEAKER_08: Oh, yeah.
- 34:12SPEAKER_08: But you love him.
- 34:12SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 34:13SPEAKER_08: You know, so well played, so well.
- 34:15SPEAKER_08: Oh, it was great.
- 34:16SPEAKER_08: The whole movie was just so good.
- 34:17SPEAKER_08: Uh uh was Dennis Farina in that too?
- 34:21SPEAKER_08: Dennis Fer no.
- 34:22SPEAKER_08: Not Dennis Farina.
- 34:23SPEAKER_08: Not Dennis Farina.
- 34:25SPEAKER_08: Uh the guy from uh that was in NYPD Blue.
- 34:30SPEAKER_08: Jimmy Spitz?
- 34:31SPEAKER_08: No.
- 34:31SPEAKER_08: Uh and he was also in the diehard movies.
- 34:34SPEAKER_08: He was the cop at the airport.
- 34:36SPEAKER_04: Oh no, he wasn't in it.
- 34:37SPEAKER_04: He wasn't?
- 34:38SPEAKER_04: No, he wasn't in that movie.
- 34:40SPEAKER_08: He might have been an extra or something.
- 34:41SPEAKER_08: I'm getting my diehards and my rambles mixed up.
- 34:44SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 34:44SPEAKER_08: Anyway.
- 34:45SPEAKER_08: Um I thought that was an interesting story.
- 34:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that is interesting.
- 34:48SPEAKER_08: So did you say so when you said there was an alternate ending, did you see like a documentary or something somewhere?
- 34:52SPEAKER_04: No, no, he talked about it.
- 34:54SPEAKER_08: Oh, he did.
- 34:54SPEAKER_04: Well, if you read the book, I don't know how they I don't know how this David Morel made more books because he kills he the guy kills himself at the end of the year.
- 35:03SPEAKER_04: And and the and the book is way darker because he's he kills like women and children and John Rambo does?
- 35:08SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 35:09SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 35:09SPEAKER_04: And his rampage.
- 35:11SPEAKER_04: And uh he kills himself in the end.
- 35:12SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 35:13SPEAKER_04: Well, he's dying anyway, because he's been shot like a you know, half a dozen times, but whatever.
- 35:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 35:17SPEAKER_04: But it was it was a very dark one.
- 35:19SPEAKER_04: So when they did this one, you know, when he's in the p when he takes over the police station, Tropman comes in, he's got that that big speech.
- 35:25SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 35:26SPEAKER_04: At the end of it, he puts a friggin', you know, 45 at his mouth, just you know, just you know.
- 35:31SPEAKER_04: Well, they don't they don't actually show that part.
- 35:33SPEAKER_04: They cut it, but they you you hear the gun, it goes black, you hear the gunshot.
- 35:36SPEAKER_08: So where is that?
- 35:37SPEAKER_08: Is that like on a DVD somewhere?
- 35:39SPEAKER_04: Or is it No, I saw it on a documentary.
- 35:41SPEAKER_04: It must have been like an extra and like uh Okay.
- 35:47SPEAKER_04: Right, right of all the movies, and they all have like special edition, you know, they have like deleted scenes and stuff like that.
- 35:53SPEAKER_08: So that's Yeah, no, they they made the right move.
- 35:56SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 35:56SPEAKER_04: Well, they played they played the suicide one for some test audiences, yeah, and they just everybody was just like horrified.
- 36:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 36:03SPEAKER_04: So they that's why they cut it out.
- 36:04SPEAKER_04: And you know, went with the ending where you know he's captured and you know, everybody lives.
- 36:09SPEAKER_04: Except for the bad guys.
- 36:11SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 36:11SPEAKER_04: And you know, in Rambo two.
- 36:13unknown: Right.
- 36:14SPEAKER_04: He doesn't really kill anybody in uh Rambo one.
- 36:16SPEAKER_04: If you think about it.
- 36:18SPEAKER_08: Uh except for the the sheriff.
- 36:20SPEAKER_08: He didn't kill him.
- 36:21SPEAKER_08: Well, no, he didn't kill him, though.
- 36:22SPEAKER_04: He even the guy in the helicopter, he didn't kill him, he fell on his own.
- 36:26SPEAKER_08: That's true.
- 36:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah, he didn't kill anybody.
- 36:28SPEAKER_08: Who did he?
- 36:28SPEAKER_08: He wounded a lot of people.
- 36:29SPEAKER_08: He threw a rock and it and it caused a helicopter to that was not his involuntary man.
- 36:34SPEAKER_04: He should have been wearing his stupid seatbelt.
- 36:36SPEAKER_04: You're in a helicopter, you're hanging out the side, wear a seatbelt.
- 36:39SPEAKER_04: It's common freaking sex.
- 36:43SPEAKER_08: Uh speaking of common, we need to talk about our name change.
- 36:47SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 36:48SPEAKER_08: So um we are not talking about this.
- 36:51SPEAKER_08: Well, we discussed it on the last podcast, but we are going with Bima in the deal.
- 36:56SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 36:56SPEAKER_08: Um because I got to thinking um we could we could we could use it because I have a lot of songs.
- 37:06SPEAKER_08: I know you do.
- 37:08SPEAKER_08: Um I know this.
- 37:09SPEAKER_08: So so like if I did a if I did a s a solo thing, like say, so you and I are B-Mo in the deal.
- 37:17SPEAKER_08: Correct.
- 37:18SPEAKER_08: If I needed a band to back me up for like a solo, like a fundraiser, you know, with my original songs, I might call it Bima Win the Big Deal.
- 37:32SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 37:33SPEAKER_08: Because it would it would be Bima win the deal and then BeMa win the big deal.
- 37:39SPEAKER_08: Or just maybe Brian Loger with a star study syndicate.
- 37:42SPEAKER_08: I don't know.
- 37:43SPEAKER_08: I don't know.
- 37:45SPEAKER_08: But you like Bima Win the Deal.
- 37:46SPEAKER_08: I love Bima and the deal.
- 37:48SPEAKER_08: We gotta come up with oh, and I almost ruined my w actually she she wasn't too bothered by it.
- 37:53SPEAKER_08: I uh I something came up uh on my computer and it was uh because I was like I want to try trying to do a logo for BMW in the deal.
- 38:02SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 38:02SPEAKER_08: Just to see what I could so I typed in logo and then so it popped up logo AI.
- 38:08SPEAKER_08: And I've never done anything AI.
- 38:10SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 38:11SPEAKER_08: So I just clicked on it and it said type in you know the whatever.
- 38:16SPEAKER_08: So I typed in BMW and the deal.
- 38:18SPEAKER_08: Said uh color scheme, this and this and this, uh click, click, click, click.
- 38:23SPEAKER_08: Automatically I had suggestions for logos and I showed my wife who does logos for a living.
- 38:33SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 38:33SPEAKER_08: And I was like, does this scare you?
- 38:36SPEAKER_08: No.
- 38:38SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 38:38SPEAKER_08: Alright.
- 38:39SPEAKER_08: She must not do that many logos anymore.
- 38:41SPEAKER_08: I don't know.
- 38:42SPEAKER_08: But yeah.
- 38:43SPEAKER_08: Do you have any of them?
- 38:44SPEAKER_08: I don't.
- 38:45SPEAKER_08: I no, I didn't I didn't keep them.
- 38:46SPEAKER_08: I just wanted to see.
- 38:47SPEAKER_08: Do you want to see?
- 38:48SPEAKER_04: Well, yeah, I was I'm kind of interested now.
- 38:50SPEAKER_04: Uh I'm not sure.
- 38:51SPEAKER_04: I mean, we're using the devil's tool to do it, but you know.
- 38:54SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 38:55SPEAKER_08: I uh I did start an account.
- 38:59SPEAKER_08: So I I don't know if I remember my account.
- 39:01SPEAKER_08: But I'm not gonna go there.
- 39:03SPEAKER_08: Let's just do this.
- 39:04SPEAKER_08: Let's make a logo.
- 39:06SPEAKER_08: So start.
- 39:07SPEAKER_04: Hi, everybody.
- 39:08SPEAKER_04: We're gonna make a logo.
- 39:09SPEAKER_04: Enter your logo name.
- 39:10SPEAKER_08: Here's the thing.
- 39:11SPEAKER_08: I didn't really like any of them.
- 39:14SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 39:14SPEAKER_04: Um, I mean it I mean if it comes up, you know, like a metal band, then then I get it, but so I put entertain entertainment is uh and I put warm.
- 39:23SPEAKER_08: Ah, because we're joy, enthusiasm, happiness, creativity, determination, and stimulation.
- 39:28SPEAKER_04: Yes, we're we're 98.6 degrees.
- 39:30SPEAKER_08: Or should we be cold?
- 39:32SPEAKER_08: Depth, trust, loyalty, confidence, intelligence.
- 39:35SPEAKER_08: Nah.
- 39:36SPEAKER_08: Grayscale, elegance, reliability, intelligence, modesty.
- 39:39SPEAKER_08: Definitely not us.
- 39:40SPEAKER_08: Pastel, sweet, harmony, loving, playful, safety, and healing.
- 39:44SPEAKER_08: Okay, none of these fit us at all.
- 39:45SPEAKER_08: I'm just I'm going with warm.
- 39:46SPEAKER_08: Yeah, it works.
- 39:47SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 39:48SPEAKER_08: Um so styles of of writing here.
- 39:52SPEAKER_08: All right.
- 39:53SPEAKER_08: What do you think?
- 39:53SPEAKER_08: Uh handwritten, playful, future probably playful.
- 39:57SPEAKER_08: Playful's good.
- 39:58SPEAKER_08: We're playful.
- 39:59SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we're playful, guys.
- 40:00SPEAKER_08: Let's generate and see what we got.
- 40:01SPEAKER_04: Oh, see what happens.
- 40:02SPEAKER_04: I'm excited now.
- 40:04SPEAKER_08: You're only gonna be able to see a few of them because uh it'll ask me to register.
- 40:07SPEAKER_04: Oh, I'm sure, yeah.
- 40:08SPEAKER_04: Um Whoa! Wow! Those are super boring.
- 40:13SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 40:14SPEAKER_08: So, yeah, see, I can't I can't go past this.
- 40:17SPEAKER_08: Oh, that's fine.
- 40:18SPEAKER_04: Uh I was just I was just kind of curious.
- 40:21SPEAKER_08: Yeah, but I mean there's a whole page.
- 40:23SPEAKER_04: Oh.
- 40:24SPEAKER_04: They blurred them all out.
- 40:25SPEAKER_08: Yeah, and if you go it, if you get down to the bottom, it'll say see more logos.
- 40:29SPEAKER_08: It'll create more.
- 40:30SPEAKER_08: Oh, really?
- 40:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's it'll just create logos till you can't sleep anymore.
- 40:33SPEAKER_08: Yes, it's friggin' insane.
- 40:34SPEAKER_08: That's a crazy man.
- 40:36SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 40:37SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 40:37SPEAKER_08: So anyway.
- 40:39SPEAKER_08: Yeah, I like that.
- 40:40SPEAKER_08: I'm not sure my wife likes it, but at this point.
- 40:44SPEAKER_04: Well, I'm I'm hey, Trace, just so you know, you're not in the band.
- 40:50SPEAKER_04: So if you like it or not, it matters not to be.
- 40:59SPEAKER_04: What?
- 41:00SPEAKER_08: We're gonna end up starting over.
- 41:01SPEAKER_08: You and your wife?
- 41:02SPEAKER_08: No, no.
- 41:03SPEAKER_04: That's kind of sad.
- 41:04SPEAKER_08: I don't want to cause a rift in the family.
- 41:06SPEAKER_08: Because, you know, Comic Crossing Duo has been doing these things.
- 41:09SPEAKER_08: And I guess it doesn't matter because people are gonna reach out to us anyway.
- 41:13unknown: Yeah.
- 41:13SPEAKER_08: So it doesn't matter what we call ourselves.
- 41:14SPEAKER_04: Well we yeah, we just put it out anyway, and that's the only people that show up, and the only people that really show up are just gonna be there anyway.
- 41:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 41:22SPEAKER_04: You know, nobody really there's very few people that come to see us specifically to see us.
- 41:27SPEAKER_04: Yes, we're just there.
- 41:28SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 41:28SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 41:28SPEAKER_04: Everybody else is just oh, oh, oh, there's a band here.
- 41:31SPEAKER_04: Okay, well, give me another beer.
- 41:33SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 41:34SPEAKER_04: They sound better with alcohol.
- 41:35SPEAKER_04: It's true, it's true.
- 41:36SPEAKER_04: You know, so that is so true.
- 41:37SPEAKER_04: That is very true.
- 41:38SPEAKER_04: Um, so you know, it doesn't it's funny.
- 41:41SPEAKER_08: She was listening to the podcast last week and uh because she listens to it while she's pressing shirts and stuff.
- 41:46SPEAKER_08: Correct.
- 41:47SPEAKER_08: And uh where you said you said something to the effect of if I could have my way, I would change our name for every game.
- 41:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I would dude, I would love that.
- 41:58SPEAKER_04: I would have so much fun with it.
- 41:59SPEAKER_04: Because I have a list, I mean, I have a list of band names in here.
- 42:02SPEAKER_08: I know you do.
- 42:03SPEAKER_04: So I mean, I'm don't don't well a lot of them are just album names.
- 42:07SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you know, I but I always come up with like, you know, dog army.
- 42:13SPEAKER_08: Dog army.
- 42:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 42:14SPEAKER_04: What did we say?
- 42:15SPEAKER_04: Refrigerator pants?
- 42:16SPEAKER_04: I thought that would be a great name.
- 42:18SPEAKER_08: We were at uh I think we were at Skinny Elvis rehearsal.
- 42:22SPEAKER_08: And uh somebody said something, and we both looked at each other like, hey, great band name.
- 42:25SPEAKER_08: Yeah, I can't remember what it is.
- 42:26SPEAKER_08: I don't remember what it was either.
- 42:27SPEAKER_08: Yeah, I don't remember.
- 42:28SPEAKER_08: Anyway, and she doesn't like Skinny Elvis either.
- 42:31SPEAKER_08: She doesn't like that name.
- 42:32SPEAKER_08: Well I said Again.
- 42:33SPEAKER_08: I don't care.
- 42:35SPEAKER_03: You're not the band.
- 42:36SPEAKER_08: We like it.
- 42:36SPEAKER_08: We like it.
- 42:37SPEAKER_03: It's okay.
- 42:38SPEAKER_08: I still love you, dear.
- 42:39SPEAKER_03: But I I'm very fond of you.
- 42:42SPEAKER_03: I I would I would like to point out You are my invisible podcast partner, but I would like to point out though.
- 42:49SPEAKER_08: What 99.9% of the time.
- 42:53SPEAKER_08: She's absolutely right.
- 42:54SPEAKER_08: She's absolutely right.
- 42:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 42:56SPEAKER_04: I know this.
- 42:57SPEAKER_04: I mean, she she's one of the smartest people I know.
- 42:59SPEAKER_04: So, you know, if she doesn't like it, then there's a very, very good chance that it's stupid.
- 43:05SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 43:05SPEAKER_08: But call it a midlife crisp midlife crisis.
- 43:07SPEAKER_08: We'll just we'll just I just want to do it.
- 43:09SPEAKER_04: We call ourselves I mean, if it sucks, then we'll change it again.
- 43:12SPEAKER_04: That's just what we do.
- 43:14SPEAKER_04: Like I said, my my greatest joy would be being a new band name for every single gig.
- 43:21SPEAKER_08: It would be we could make it happen.
- 43:23SPEAKER_04: Or no, we could, but everybody Barking Wall Spiders.
- 43:26SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah, that was that that was an actual name for a while.
- 43:29SPEAKER_08: For like a week.
- 43:31SPEAKER_04: Well, I think for like two weeks.
- 43:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 43:32SPEAKER_04: And then we were like, no.
- 43:33SPEAKER_08: Yeah, we're not gonna go with that.
- 43:34SPEAKER_08: Yeah, so yeah.
- 43:36SPEAKER_08: Was it Barking Wall spiders or barking tree spiders?
- 43:38SPEAKER_08: I don't remember.
- 43:38SPEAKER_04: Barking tree spiders.
- 43:39SPEAKER_08: Was it tree spiders?
- 43:40SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 43:40SPEAKER_08: Anyway, that would be.
- 43:47SPEAKER_04: Barking mall spiders.
- 43:49SPEAKER_04: Barking Walmart spiders, barking barking parking lot spiders.
- 43:54SPEAKER_04: I mean, we I mean the possibilities are endless.
- 43:57SPEAKER_08: Have you heard that band, The Barking Walmart?
- 44:00SPEAKER_03: Walmart spiders.
- 44:01SPEAKER_03: They're freaking awesome.
- 44:03SPEAKER_03: They're so weird.
- 44:04SPEAKER_03: There's only two of them.
- 44:06SPEAKER_03: But they rock.
- 44:07SPEAKER_03: They don't even bark, and they're not spiders, but they rock.
- 44:10SPEAKER_03: They're rock.
- 44:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so.
- 44:13SPEAKER_04: Um it's it's the prerogative of the musician to just be creative with whatever.
- 44:19SPEAKER_08: I agree.

- 45:14SPEAKER_04: I have to read of that one.
- 45:16SPEAKER_04: Our lovely and analytical.
- 45:18SPEAKER_08: Okay, before you read that, can you remind me what the question was?

- 45:55SPEAKER_04: This week's picks were amazing.
- 45:57SPEAKER_04: I loved them all.
- 45:57SPEAKER_04: I know Bob isn't a player, but being the metalhead at heart, Fear of the Reaper was a perfect pick.
- 46:03SPEAKER_08: There you go.
- 46:03SPEAKER_04: I could picture each scene with each song playing, and each one each was freaking awesome.
- 46:08SPEAKER_04: But honestly, I have to go with Cousin Larry's pick.
- 46:10SPEAKER_04: I oh OMG, I laugh so hard at that pick.
- 46:13SPEAKER_09: We did too.
- 46:14SPEAKER_08: This is the Benny Hill one, right?

- 46:42SPEAKER_08: Alright.

- 47:08SPEAKER_04: No, he didn't answer the question.
- 47:09SPEAKER_04: Oh God Larry!
- 47:12SPEAKER_08: Well, I mean, then by default, one either you or I are gonna win.
- 47:15SPEAKER_04: Yeah, because I sent him the question.
- 47:16SPEAKER_04: And he didn't answer it.
- 47:18SPEAKER_04: If he comes back later, we'll know.
- 47:21SPEAKER_08: Yeah, he didn't uh Alright, so do you want to go first or uh go ahead.

- 56:35SPEAKER_04: Robert.
- 56:36SPEAKER_04: Oh.
- 56:38SPEAKER_08: Um.
- 56:39SPEAKER_08: So before you before you go, let's start the music.

- 56:52SPEAKER_03: Are you ready for me to read from A Hot Days Right by Steve Taney?
- 56:58SPEAKER_08: Uh, and you're reading about Dr.
- 57:00SPEAKER_08: Robert.
- 57:01SPEAKER_08: Dr.
- 57:01SPEAKER_04: Robert from the revolver album.
- 57:03SPEAKER_04: Alright, go ahead.
- 57:04SPEAKER_04: All right.
- 57:05SPEAKER_04: On their American visits, the Beatles heard about a chic New York doctor who gave mysterious, quote, vitamin injections.
- 57:15SPEAKER_04: We'd hear, quote, we'd hear people say you can get anything off him, any pills you want, said Paul.
- 57:22SPEAKER_04: It was a big racket.
- 57:23SPEAKER_04: The song was a joke about this fellow who cured everyone of everything with his.
- 57:28SPEAKER_04: Well, hold on.
- 57:29SPEAKER_04: Oh, sorry.
- 57:30SPEAKER_04: Don't interrupt the story.
- 57:31SPEAKER_04: The joke was uh about everything about these pills and tranquilizers.
- 57:35SPEAKER_04: He just kept New York high.
- 57:37SPEAKER_04: Dr.
- 57:38SPEAKER_04: Robert was almost certainly Dr.
- 57:40SPEAKER_04: Robert Freeman, a 60-year-old German-born physician with a practice on East 78th Street.
- 57:46SPEAKER_04: The char Dr.
- 57:48SPEAKER_04: Charles Robert cited in some Beatles' books didn't exist, and it was an alias used by the biographer of Warhol actress Edie Sedwick, Jean Stein, to conceal to conceal the identity of another speed doctor.
- 58:03SPEAKER_04: Known as Dr.
- 58:04SPEAKER_04: Robert or the Great White Father, he had a shock of white hair.
- 58:09SPEAKER_04: Freyman was well connected with the city's art scene.
- 58:12SPEAKER_04: He had helped, among others, Thelonious Monk and Charlie Parker, great jazz, pianist and saxophonist, uh whose death certificate he signed in 1955, which is interesting, and had a reputation for being generous with amphetamines.
- 58:29SPEAKER_04: I have a clientele that is remarkable from every sphere of life he once boasted.
- 58:34SPEAKER_04: I could tell you in 10 minutes, probably 100 famous names who come here.
- 58:38SPEAKER_04: John, who wrote Dr.
- 58:39SPEAKER_04: Robert, was one of these famous names.
- 58:42SPEAKER_04: Initially prescribed as antidepressants, amphetamine soon became a recreational drug for hip New Yorkers.
- 58:48SPEAKER_04: One former patient of Dr.
- 58:49SPEAKER_04: Robert Freeman's quoted in the New York Times in 1973 said, quote, if you want to make a big night of it, you'd go over to Max's, Dr.
- 58:59SPEAKER_04: Max Jacobson, and then over to Freyman's and then down to Bishop's, Dr.
- 59:04SPEAKER_04: John Bishop.
- 59:05SPEAKER_04: It was just a kind of bar hopping, unquote.
- 59:09SPEAKER_04: That's crazy, man.
- 59:10SPEAKER_08: That's crazy.
- 59:11SPEAKER_04: Film director Joel Schumacher, who used speed doctors in the 60s, agrees, quote, we thought of them as vitamin injections, but then we then became speed freaks.
- 59:24SPEAKER_04: Oh, administering amphetamines was not illegal, although regulations warned against prescribing excessive quantities or giving the drug when it wasn't necessary.
- 59:34SPEAKER_04: Dr.
- 59:34SPEAKER_04: Robert lost his license, surprise, to practice for six months in 1968 and in 1975.
- 59:41SPEAKER_04: He was expelled from the New York State Medical Society for malpractice.
- 59:46SPEAKER_04: Asked by the New York Times in March 1973 to defend his actions, he said, quote, the addicts killed a good drug, unquote.
- 59:54SPEAKER_04: He died in 1987.
- 59:57SPEAKER_04: So Dr.
- 59:57SPEAKER_04: Robert is actually a doctor, and there was a Dr.
- 1:00:00SPEAKER_04: Robert.
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_04: Nice.
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_04: So good to know.
- 1:00:02SPEAKER_04: Bonus Beatles.
- 1:00:05SPEAKER_08: Alright, so I have an album.
- 1:00:07SPEAKER_04: I have a microphone.
- 1:00:09SPEAKER_04: And something on my pants.
- 1:00:11SPEAKER_08: I don't know that you're gonna get it.
- 1:00:13SPEAKER_08: And I don't know if we've done this act before.
- 1:00:17SPEAKER_08: So it's a band.
- 1:00:19SPEAKER_08: Uh yeah.
- 1:00:24SPEAKER_04: Who's that?
- 1:00:24SPEAKER_04: Who's the trick?
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_04: Oh, wait.
- 1:00:26SPEAKER_04: Cousin Larry might have just.
- 1:00:27SPEAKER_04: No, it's not.
- 1:00:27SPEAKER_04: No, we're on mine.
- 1:00:29SPEAKER_04: Oh no.
- 1:00:29SPEAKER_08: Never mind.
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_08: That's Anthony.
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:00:32SPEAKER_04: Anthony, I love you, man, but get off the podcast.
- 1:00:36SPEAKER_08: Um so I don't know that you'll get the name of the act, so I don't know if we should just I we could try it.
- 1:00:42SPEAKER_08: We'll try it.
- 1:00:43SPEAKER_08: And see.
- 1:00:44SPEAKER_04: Is it a band?
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_04: Or is it a duo?
- 1:00:47SPEAKER_04: It's a duo.
- 1:00:48SPEAKER_04: It's a duo.
- 1:00:49SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 1:00:49SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:00:50SPEAKER_04: Is it the the one we did there?
- 1:00:52SPEAKER_04: Uh the guy and the girl.
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_04: The guy and the War and Peace or something like that?
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_08: East Mountain South?
- 1:01:01SPEAKER_04: Nope.
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_04: Not them.
- 1:01:03SPEAKER_04: Civil Wars?
- 1:01:04SPEAKER_04: Not the Civil Wars.
- 1:01:05SPEAKER_04: They were like the Civil Wars.
- 1:01:07SPEAKER_04: Guy and Girl?
- 1:01:08SPEAKER_04: Like the Civil Wars.
- 1:01:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah, they called themselves um I can't remember that.
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_08: I don't.
- 1:01:15SPEAKER_08: Um now I'm trying to think of who that would be.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_08: Guy and girl.
- 1:01:28SPEAKER_01: Don't take it a drink.
- 1:01:30SPEAKER_01: Wanna hear it again?
- 1:01:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I do.
- 1:01:31SPEAKER_04: Okay, here we go.
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_08: Refreshing.
- 1:01:43SPEAKER_08: When we get to the podcast, I'm gonna take that one little section and just crank it.
- 1:01:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but you said that last time and you didn't do it.
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_04: I know.
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_04: I forget.
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_04: I know.
- 1:01:51SPEAKER_04: We do these things in such a hurry.
- 1:01:53SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_04: Um So it's is it it's a duo.
- 1:01:56SPEAKER_04: It's a duo.
- 1:01:57SPEAKER_04: Is it a guy and a girl or is it a little?
- 1:01:58SPEAKER_04: No, it's two guys.
- 1:01:59SPEAKER_04: Is it Loan and Navarro?
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_04: Nope.
- 1:02:01SPEAKER_04: Are they like No and Navarro?
- 1:02:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:02:04SPEAKER_04: A little rougher.
- 1:02:05SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 1:02:05SPEAKER_04: What do you mean rougher?
- 1:02:06SPEAKER_04: Uh they do uh gangster rap.
- 1:02:09SPEAKER_08: No, no, it's more uh Loan and Navarro is very e uh uh West Coast.
- 1:02:13SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:02:14SPEAKER_08: These guys are kind of southern.
- 1:02:17SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 1:02:19SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 1:02:20SPEAKER_08: Yeah, we we've uh we've done them before, I think.
- 1:02:23SPEAKER_08: Have we?
- 1:02:24SPEAKER_08: I don't know.
- 1:02:25SPEAKER_08: Uh you uh you probably won't get the name.
- 1:02:27SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 1:02:28SPEAKER_08: I give up.
- 1:02:29SPEAKER_08: If I say if I say the name, I wonder if you'll remember.
- 1:02:36SPEAKER_04: I'm not gonna remember until you say the name.
- 1:02:38SPEAKER_08: Uh Billy Pilgrim.
- 1:02:39SPEAKER_04: No.
- 1:02:40SPEAKER_08: No?
- 1:02:40SPEAKER_08: No.
- 1:02:40SPEAKER_08: Can you look up and see if we've done it?
- 1:02:42SPEAKER_04: We've never done it.
- 1:02:43SPEAKER_08: Are you sure?
- 1:02:44SPEAKER_08: Positive.
- 1:02:44SPEAKER_08: We've talked about him though.
- 1:02:45SPEAKER_04: Nope.
- 1:02:46SPEAKER_04: I don't remember ever talking about him.
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_08: Um yeah, we have.
- 1:02:50SPEAKER_08: I don't think so, man.
- 1:02:51SPEAKER_08: Um so Billy Pilgrim is is uh Chris Christian Bush who was in Sugarland.
- 1:02:59SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 1:02:59SPEAKER_08: Or is in Sugarland, the country the the country duo.
- 1:03:03SPEAKER_08: And Andrew Hira is the brother of Meg Ryan.
- 1:03:09SPEAKER_04: The actress?
- 1:03:10SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:03:11SPEAKER_08: Um and so they have you know, they they had a a couple their their debut album was Bloom, which we have, which we're gonna listen to right now.
- 1:03:21SPEAKER_08: I know you're gonna remember these songs.
- 1:03:25SPEAKER_08: And I I swear we have done something with this with this group.
- 1:03:34SPEAKER_08: Um let's see, what song do I want to start with?
- 1:03:37SPEAKER_04: We have never done Billy Pulver.
- 1:03:39SPEAKER_08: Really?
- 1:03:40SPEAKER_08: That blows my mind.
- 1:03:42SPEAKER_08: Um, they're kind of a uh I don't I know what we've done this song.
- 1:03:51SPEAKER_08: This reminds me of our stuff.
- 1:03:54SPEAKER_08: Because I was listening to these guys in the 90s when I was writing.
- 1:03:58SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:03:59SPEAKER_08: So I'd always want to kind of emulate these guys with with our stuff.
- 1:04:06SPEAKER_12: Picking up stones on Saturday.
- 1:04:09SPEAKER_08: Remember this at all?
- 1:04:10SPEAKER_08: Well, he sounds like the Warren Brothers.
- 1:04:13SPEAKER_08: He does sound a little like Brett Warren.
- 1:04:15SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:04:16SPEAKER_12: It's old habit anyway.
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_12: But I don't know what that means.
- 1:04:26SPEAKER_12: All the teachers think there's a problem.
- 1:04:31SPEAKER_12: Is there something wrong at home?
- 1:04:36SPEAKER_12: I made it up.
- 1:04:39SPEAKER_12: Mama was drunk.
- 1:04:41SPEAKER_12: Just so they leave me alone.
- 1:04:47SPEAKER_12: No bud.
- 1:04:48SPEAKER_12: I don't know much anyway.
- 1:04:53SPEAKER_08: So you don't remember this?
- 1:04:54SPEAKER_08: Nope.
- 1:04:55SPEAKER_12: Wow.
- 1:04:56SPEAKER_04: I don't think we've ever talked about these guys.
- 1:04:58SPEAKER_12: I don't know much.
- 1:04:59SPEAKER_08: This is a great album.
- 1:05:02SPEAKER_08: Is it just called Billy Pilgrim?
- 1:05:04SPEAKER_08: The they took the Billy Pilgrim from um It's that um legendary book.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_08: Not Catcher in the Rye.
- 1:05:18SPEAKER_08: Uh Slaughterhouse 5.
- 1:05:20SPEAKER_08: Oh, that's the main character in Slaughterhouse 5.
- 1:05:22SPEAKER_08: Oh, okay.
- 1:05:23SPEAKER_12: Change our names.
- 1:05:26SPEAKER_08: Um I have that book.
- 1:05:28SPEAKER_08: I've never read it.
- 1:05:29SPEAKER_08: Really?
- 1:05:29SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:05:30SPEAKER_08: Uh let me just play you a couple.
- 1:05:35SPEAKER_08: I mean, this sounds like something we would listen to better in the 90s, right?
- 1:05:38SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 1:05:52SPEAKER_08: So they're a folk like a folk duo step rock.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_04: Have you?
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_04: I didn't realize it was really bullets, yeah.
- 1:06:14SPEAKER_04: Very high at that.
- 1:06:15SPEAKER_04: It is.
- 1:06:15SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:06:23SPEAKER_08: So if I go to their Wikipedia page to see what they're doing now.
- 1:06:32SPEAKER_08: Uh let's see.
- 1:06:36SPEAKER_08: In 1993, Billy Pilgrim recorded their debut album, uh, Nickel and Dime at Nickel and Dime Studios.
- 1:06:44SPEAKER_08: But then in 90, let's see.
- 1:06:46SPEAKER_04: Wait, was the studio called Nickel and Dime or the album?
- 1:06:49SPEAKER_08: Uh the studio.
- 1:06:50SPEAKER_08: The album was called Billy Pilgrim.
- 1:06:52SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 1:06:52SPEAKER_08: Uh, but then they released this one, Bloom.
- 1:06:55SPEAKER_08: Um, and they let's see.
- 1:06:58SPEAKER_08: As soon as they released the album and they booked a fall tour, uh Atlantic Records dropped them in 1996.
- 1:07:06SPEAKER_08: Uh they did some independent releases after this.
- 1:07:10SPEAKER_08: And then Christian Bush, of course, formed Sugarland.
- 1:07:17SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 1:07:18SPEAKER_08: With Jennifer Nettles and Kristen Hall.
- 1:07:21SPEAKER_08: And in 2016, they reunited for a one-off performance.
- 1:07:29SPEAKER_08: First time on stage in 15 years.
- 1:07:31SPEAKER_08: Wow.
- 1:07:32SPEAKER_08: And let's see, they reunited for several shows last year and this year.
- 1:07:37SPEAKER_08: They played the grand old Opry, so they're they're doing shows now, which is cool.
- 1:07:41SPEAKER_08: Great.
- 1:07:42SPEAKER_08: Um both Hyra and Bush have released solo albums and worked with other musicians.
- 1:07:48SPEAKER_08: Uh Hira is now in a band uh called the Smokin' Novas.
- 1:07:54SPEAKER_08: So, but this album, I this is one of Smoking Novas.
- 1:07:58SPEAKER_04: B mowing the deal, stupid.
- 1:08:02SPEAKER_08: This is one of my Desert Islands albums, I think.
- 1:08:04SPEAKER_08: It really is.
- 1:08:11SPEAKER_04: Now, is this the second album or is this their first album?
- 1:08:14SPEAKER_04: This is the second album.
- 1:08:15SPEAKER_08: This is the the major label album.
- 1:08:16SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 1:08:17SPEAKER_08: But they only had the two?
- 1:08:18SPEAKER_08: Nope.
- 1:08:19SPEAKER_08: Well, they they released the two, and then Atlantic dropped them and then released a couple more independently.
- 1:08:24SPEAKER_11: Okay.
- 1:08:29SPEAKER_08: I don't know what to call this.
- 1:08:30SPEAKER_08: What kind of music is this?
- 1:08:33SPEAKER_11: It's like acoustic rock.
- 1:08:39SPEAKER_04: It's not really folk rock.
- 1:08:41SPEAKER_08: No.
- 1:08:42SPEAKER_04: It's just acoustic-based rock.
- 1:08:45SPEAKER_08: Uh, this is a great song, too.
- 1:08:49SPEAKER_08: This is called watching.
- 1:08:52SPEAKER_08: He's he's going up.
- 1:08:54SPEAKER_08: Uh he sees her cheating on him in the window.
- 1:08:58SPEAKER_11: Green glow dashboard, white light.
- 1:09:06SPEAKER_08: So let this play for a second.
- 1:09:08SPEAKER_11: This pulse in my veins taken like a ship.
- 1:09:12SPEAKER_08: Singing it like a stalker.
- 1:09:13SPEAKER_08: Oh yeah, well, yeah, but he gets he gets he freaks out.
- 1:09:17SPEAKER_08: It's a lot of drama.
- 1:09:18SPEAKER_11: There's wolves eyes in the headlights.
- 1:09:22SPEAKER_08: Wolves eyes in the headlights.
- 1:09:24SPEAKER_11: I can't keep away tonight.
- 1:09:36SPEAKER_11: Porch lights off you locked up your door.
- 1:09:46SPEAKER_04: And there's a car outside that I have never seen before.
- 1:09:50SPEAKER_04: Feels like I've heard this song too before.
- 1:09:52SPEAKER_08: Well, I think I used to play this album for you, probably.
- 1:09:56SPEAKER_11: I move slow deal.
- 1:10:02SPEAKER_11: Camelites throwing shadows.
- 1:10:08SPEAKER_11: Take my eyes.
- 1:10:14SPEAKER_08: Take my eyes from me because I can't look away.
- 1:10:27SPEAKER_08: Just one of my favorite songs on this album.
- 1:10:29SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's a good song.
- 1:10:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:10:31SPEAKER_08: Um, and then there's of course this one.
- 1:10:34SPEAKER_08: Need your love.
- 1:10:38SPEAKER_08: See, I know you've heard this album.
- 1:10:40SPEAKER_04: Probably have.
- 1:10:40SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:10:41SPEAKER_04: A lot of these are sounding familiar.
- 1:10:42SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:10:45SPEAKER_08: So anyway, the band's name is Billy Pilgrim.
- 1:10:48SPEAKER_08: And I'm glad to hear that they've been doing stuff lately.
- 1:10:52SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:10:53SPEAKER_08: Um Christian Bush, of course, doesn't have to do anything because he had has Sugarland.
- 1:10:57SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:10:57SPEAKER_08: Not that they're doing anything.
- 1:10:59SPEAKER_08: I think they're working on an album, actually.
- 1:11:01SPEAKER_08: Are they?
- 1:11:01SPEAKER_11: But uh Savannah Breeds and I need you love.
- 1:11:07SPEAKER_08: I don't know.
- 1:11:08SPEAKER_08: I like 'em.
- 1:11:09SPEAKER_08: I dig them.
- 1:11:10SPEAKER_08: Dig 'em.
- 1:11:10SPEAKER_08: I dig 'em.
- 1:11:11SPEAKER_08: So that is the album.
- 1:11:12SPEAKER_08: It's called Bloom from Billy.
- 1:11:16SPEAKER_08: Billy Pilgrim.
- 1:11:17SPEAKER_08: Nice.
- 1:11:18SPEAKER_08: Check it out.
- 1:11:19SPEAKER_08: Do yourself a favor.
- 1:11:22SPEAKER_08: I have their first album too.
- 1:11:24SPEAKER_08: Cool.
- 1:11:24SPEAKER_08: I believe.
- 1:11:25SPEAKER_08: Um it's not as good as this one.
- 1:11:27SPEAKER_08: It's still good.
- 1:11:28SPEAKER_08: Gotcha.
- 1:11:29SPEAKER_04: Alright.
- 1:11:30SPEAKER_04: Well, we we did hear from Cousin Larry.
- 1:11:32SPEAKER_04: Oh, we did.
- 1:11:32SPEAKER_04: Yes, he's he was sick.
- 1:11:34SPEAKER_04: Oh.
- 1:11:34SPEAKER_04: So he's he's a little under the weather, so okay.
- 1:11:36SPEAKER_04: He thought it was Monday.
- 1:11:38SPEAKER_04: So that's a good excuse.
- 1:11:41SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:11:41SPEAKER_04: So uh yeah, he's like he's like, oh crap, it's Tuesday.
- 1:11:45SPEAKER_04: ACDC's back in black, album, and Hell's Bell is is the song.
- 1:11:50SPEAKER_06: Uh-huh.
- 1:11:51SPEAKER_08: Let's see.
- 1:11:55SPEAKER_08: So we gotta we gotta play a little bit of it.
- 1:11:56SPEAKER_08: Yeah, of course we do.
- 1:11:57SPEAKER_08: Of course we don't.
- 1:11:58SPEAKER_08: So um he's digging through his uh memorabilia and uh finds the album or song.
- 1:12:06SPEAKER_04: Well this is he finds the back and black and back and black album.
- 1:12:10SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 1:12:10SPEAKER_08: And this is the song.
- 1:12:11SPEAKER_04: This is the song.
- 1:12:12SPEAKER_08: Yeah speaking of bells ringing, I'm driving uh downtown today and I'm just on a whim listening to the rock.
- 1:12:22SPEAKER_13: Mm-hmm.
- 1:12:23SPEAKER_08: And they went from um I don't remember what it was, but it was like something like Blondie.
- 1:12:37SPEAKER_08: I don't think it was Blondie, but it was something like Blondie.
- 1:12:40SPEAKER_08: Mm-hmm.
- 1:12:41SPEAKER_08: And then I hear a bell start ringing, and I'm like, what are they doing?
- 1:12:45SPEAKER_08: For whom the bell tells.
- 1:12:47SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah, I've heard I've heard I've heard that on The Rock before.
- 1:12:50SPEAKER_08: Yeah, when we used to play it, I No, no, I've heard it since then.
- 1:12:53SPEAKER_08: Really?
- 1:12:53SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:12:58SPEAKER_08: Such a classic album.
- 1:12:59SPEAKER_04: Of course, man.
- 1:13:00SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:13:00SPEAKER_04: 1980, right?
- 1:13:02SPEAKER_08: 1980.
- 1:13:02SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:13:03SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:13:04SPEAKER_08: Good choice, cousin Larry.
- 1:13:06SPEAKER_08: Yeah, baby.
- 1:13:07SPEAKER_08: I don't think I'm gonna win this round.
- 1:13:08SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I I don't think I am either.
- 1:13:10SPEAKER_04: That's okay.
- 1:13:11SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:13:11SPEAKER_04: Cousin Larry's a man.
- 1:13:12SPEAKER_04: So uh yeah, I was uh what was I guess?
- 1:13:14SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah, because I haven't listened to The Rock since uh Channel X switched formats.
- 1:13:19SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:13:20SPEAKER_08: It's actually pretty great.
- 1:13:21SPEAKER_08: It is pretty great.
- 1:13:22SPEAKER_08: Well the the thing is now somebody's gotta do something because because HOU and Channel X are kind of playing the same type of stuff.
- 1:13:34SPEAKER_08: Which is a lot of what the rock plays too.
- 1:13:36SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 1:13:37SPEAKER_08: So somebody's gotta switch something up.
- 1:13:39SPEAKER_08: I like what Channel X is doing.
- 1:13:41SPEAKER_08: Yeah I like the the the change in in music.
- 1:13:44SPEAKER_08: Um and I've and I remember when H.O.U.
- 1:13:47SPEAKER_08: changed.
- 1:13:48SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:13:48SPEAKER_08: And I liked it.
- 1:13:49SPEAKER_08: And I I I do like what they do.
- 1:13:51SPEAKER_08: Um The Rock could change.
- 1:13:54SPEAKER_04: The rock needs to freshen up.
- 1:13:56SPEAKER_08: I think the rock should play because you know, we're gonna get into it.
- 1:14:00SPEAKER_04: Well, I mean they should play deeper tracks.
- 1:14:02SPEAKER_08: Well, we're gonna go off into the weeds here, but I've always said you know, because it's a classic rock station, supposedly.
- 1:14:09SPEAKER_08: And you know, you're right, they play like three or four songs from Led Zeppelin.
- 1:14:13SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:14:14SPEAKER_08: And everybody, three or four songs from everybody, yeah, and they just repeat those songs.
- 1:14:18SPEAKER_08: Um because that's the way they do it.
- 1:14:20SPEAKER_08: And what I've always said is in this area, because we don't have much for radio up in this area.
- 1:14:27SPEAKER_04: No.
- 1:14:28SPEAKER_08: So do a station that is called mainstream rock.
- 1:14:34SPEAKER_08: Where you do play deeper cuts and different classic artists, you can play those other four cuts as well.
- 1:14:41SPEAKER_08: Yeah, but just play a wider variety and include newer music.
- 1:14:49SPEAKER_08: Newer rock.
- 1:14:50SPEAKER_08: Nothing like I mean nothing like I don't know, because you can't really play I mean you can't play um um uh blondie and then play ministry.
- 1:15:05SPEAKER_08: Do you know what I mean?
- 1:15:05SPEAKER_08: I mean it's a toy.
- 1:15:07SPEAKER_08: You can, but you shouldn't.
- 1:15:08SPEAKER_08: You shouldn't.
- 1:15:09SPEAKER_08: But I mean you could play Blondie, then Van Halen, then um Nine Inch Nails.
- 1:15:16SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:15:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:15:17SPEAKER_08: Nine Inch Nails, or there's um Pop Evil, which is a newer band, you know.
- 1:15:22SPEAKER_08: I mean you could you could play some of that newer rock, Shinedown.
- 1:15:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah, Shined out.
- 1:15:26SPEAKER_08: We used to play Shinedown when we were on the air.
- 1:15:28SPEAKER_08: Yeah, we did.
- 1:15:28SPEAKER_08: I think they need to incorporate some of that stuff because we don't get that up here.
- 1:15:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah, exactly.
