- Clark owns the night! This is The Sports Reset for Saturday July 18th In the WNBA, the Indiana Fever beat the Seattle Storm 110 to 107, and Caitlin Clark made it much more than a regular-season win. Clark scored a career-high 45 points with 10 assists, the first 40-point, 10-assist game in WNBA history, then helped close it with a late block, a wing three, and four free throws in the final seconds. In MLB, the Los Angeles Dodgers edged the New York Yankees 2 to 1 when Max Muncy hit a two-run homer off Gerrit Cole in the seventh, a sharp opener in the Dodgers’ first Bronx trip since the 2024 World Series. The Washington Nationals put up the loudest number of the night, beating the Athletics 23 to 4 behind Andres Chaparro’s two homers and eight RBIs, while the Atlanta Braves rolled past the Texas Rangers 15 to 1 as Chris Sale threw seven shutout innings and reached 2,700 career strikeouts. Looking ahead, the World Cup semifinal between England and France at Hard Rock Stadium is the matchup to watch, with Jude Bellingham carrying England after his extra-time quarterfinal winner and Kylian Mbappe still the central force for France. In MLB, the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees run it back at Yankee Stadium, while the Pittsburgh Pirates and Cleveland Guardians have a busy day with the air-quality makeup added to their regular matchup. In the WNBA, the New York Liberty visit the Indiana Fever one night after Clark’s record game, and The Open continues with Lucas Herbert at 8 under, two shots clear of Cameron Young and Ryan Gerard. The World Cup final is set for Sunday in New Jersey, and in other sports news, the NFL indefinitely suspended Arizona Cardinals scouting executive Ryan Gold after an investigation found violations of the league’s gambling policy involving draft information and football parlays.
