- 0:00Speaker 1: Questions, comments, criticisms, jokes, Hello, yeah, tell us.
- 0:05Speaker 2: What you want us to do for a radio show?
- 0:07Speaker 3: What should we do next? What are we doing wrong?
- 0:11Speaker 3: What I got?
- 0:13Speaker 1: Excuse me for, excuse me for for one of our
- 0:18Speaker 1: easy mistake commanded yeah.
- 0:20Speaker 2: For one of our boner candidates.
- 0:22Speaker 1: So it was Publisher's Clearinghouse went to file for bankruptcy
- 0:25Speaker 1: and wasn't paying out checks. And I made a really
- 0:29Speaker 1: dumb joke about Ed McMahon.
- 0:32Speaker 3: It says here Publishers clearing House was a competitor to
- 0:35Speaker 3: American Family Publishers, and people often stook the two. You know,
- 0:40Speaker 3: they did the same promotion. So Ed McMahon was with
- 0:43Speaker 3: American Family Publishers, But I didn't.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Want to bespirch the name of Ed McMahon, who would
- 0:49Speaker 1: never leave you hanging.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Oh no, they they did. American Family Publishers had a
- 0:53Speaker 3: lot of problems as well. They made claims, they misleading claims.
- 0:58Speaker 3: You may already have won ten million dollars, it said
- 1:01Speaker 3: already already. That was their frequently used phrase, you may
- 1:04Speaker 3: have already won ten million dollars. Now that it was
- 1:08Speaker 3: supposedly mitigated by an introductory line that said, if you
- 1:11Speaker 3: have the winning number. But people people would read you
- 1:16Speaker 3: have already won ten million dollars, and they thought they
- 1:19Speaker 3: had won, and they got sued by attorneys generals in
- 1:23Speaker 3: lots of states.
- 1:25Speaker 2: I just, yeah, what people don't have mega. Do you
- 1:28Speaker 2: read a magazine anymore?
- 1:29Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:29Speaker 2: You get magazine.
- 1:30Speaker 3: I get two. I used to get a lot of magazines.
- 1:34Speaker 3: I get two. I get The Atlantic and a small
- 1:36Speaker 3: regional publication called Sun.
- 1:39Speaker 2: As you win, I mean I read The Atlantic on
- 1:42Speaker 2: the Atlantic app.
- 1:43Speaker 3: I haven't anything you want to talk about if you
- 1:47Speaker 3: want to, if you want to tell us what we're
- 1:49Speaker 3: doing wrong, please, that's fine. I mean, if you got
- 1:53Speaker 3: a beef, why don't you take it up with us?
- 1:55Speaker 3: Huh eight seven seven six oh two nine six nine
- 1:58Speaker 3: six all right, So let's go to Mary. Mary. Hello, Yeah, what, I'm.
- 2:03Speaker 4: Mary, Good morning, Thank you for letting me listen. What
- 2:08Speaker 4: a couple of years ago, sorry, a couple of years ago,
- 2:11Speaker 4: somebody wrote in a thing that must go and it
- 2:14Speaker 4: was like a manhole that was kind of recessed into
- 2:19Speaker 4: the road just west of Maryland Drive on Antelope and Syracuse.
- 2:23Speaker 4: And I want to report that it's been failed.
- 2:25Speaker 2: In see things that must go work? How sometimes it
- 2:29Speaker 2: takes two years.
- 2:30Speaker 3: Two years.
- 2:31Speaker 4: Well it's been that way for a while. I just
- 2:33Speaker 4: keep forgetting to call. But I didn't notice there was
- 2:36Speaker 4: this annoying pothole until somebody wrote it in as their
- 2:39Speaker 4: thing that must go, and then it bothered me too,
- 2:42Speaker 4: So I had noticed that of course once.
- 2:44Speaker 5: It was filled in.
- 2:45Speaker 4: So I just want to say that it worked.
- 2:47Speaker 6: Things that must go.
- 2:48Speaker 5: It worked.
- 2:48Speaker 3: Eventually we'll all be darned. So so it's a it's
- 2:51Speaker 3: a sort of things that must go is kind of
- 2:53Speaker 3: a miracle hotline that you can ask every once.
- 2:58Speaker 4: Yeah, so thank you for the person who wrote that.
- 3:02Speaker 3: Okay, well thanks Mary, Thank you Mary for checking in
- 3:05Speaker 3: with us. Hello. Yeah what eight seven seven six two
- 3:09Speaker 3: nine six nine six, it's it's hello, Yeah, what go ahead?
- 3:14Speaker 3: I dare you whatever you want? I mean, you know
- 3:19Speaker 3: you got you got, you got an issue? Then let
- 3:21Speaker 3: us know what your issue is. Uh, let's see.
- 3:25Speaker 7: Hmm.
- 3:26Speaker 3: Are you going to take text ones too? Three three
- 3:28Speaker 3: nine eight.
- 3:29Speaker 8: Six, Yeah, there's there's some text there, all right. I'm
- 3:32Speaker 8: not sure I want to read that one on the air.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Oh, Ed says, I can't defame a dead person's I
- 3:36Speaker 1: can talk smack about Ed mcman.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Mcmannal, why not that, I don't want to. I don't
- 3:45Speaker 2: have anything against Ed McMahon.
- 3:48Speaker 3: You don't.
- 3:48Speaker 2: I'm glad my attorney's listening to let me know where.
- 3:51Speaker 3: My he knows what he did. And speaking of the
- 3:54Speaker 3: Inn Memorial, my friend Carl says Linda Lavin was in
- 3:57Speaker 3: in the On Memorial Awards towards the end. Or wait
- 4:00Speaker 3: a minute, maybe it was Ruth Buzzy. See you get
- 4:03Speaker 3: them mixed up.
- 4:05Speaker 8: I do agree with you on this though. This is
- 4:07Speaker 8: something that can be done. What moments before the award show?
- 4:12Speaker 3: Oh yeah, the in memoriam. You know, sure, there's no excuse.
- 4:15Speaker 8: The technology is there, they're just not willing to pay
- 4:18Speaker 8: a person to do it.
- 4:19Speaker 3: No excuse. Yeah, let's go to line two. Oh it's
- 4:24Speaker 3: Balie Mormon. I'm Mollie.
- 4:26Speaker 8: Hello.
- 4:26Speaker 7: Yeah, what.
- 4:29Speaker 4: Good morning.
- 4:29Speaker 9: I just want to see cheers to all the kids
- 4:31Speaker 9: going back to UVU today.
- 4:32Speaker 3: Oh yeah, Oh that's right, first day of class back
- 4:35Speaker 3: since the problem, since the incident.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Okay, that'll be a difficult day for them, I'm sure.
- 4:44Speaker 3: Is that all?
- 4:44Speaker 9: Yeah? One of my kids. Yeah, well, one of my
- 4:46Speaker 9: kids is going back and I'm really grateful that one
- 4:48Speaker 9: of the professors has been really supportive and saying, you know,
- 4:53Speaker 9: we're all coming back on Wednesday, all the kids, and
- 4:55Speaker 9: the means you're not comfortable, then we'll make arrangements for you.
- 4:58Speaker 2: That's nice. I like being understanding about it.
- 5:01Speaker 3: Thanks Mollie, Thanks Mollie. All right, Mollie, thank you very much.
- 5:05Speaker 3: All Right, what a lot of calls? Yeah, there you go.
- 5:09Speaker 8: Let's uh, let's begin with Jennifer. Jennifer, Hi, what's your
- 5:15Speaker 8: what's your comment?
- 5:16Speaker 3: Hi? What's your comment? So?
- 5:19Speaker 6: I called into then a little bit. It's upsetting that
- 5:26Speaker 6: my ninth grader who really loves school, right, a ninth
- 5:31Speaker 6: grader that loves school has to face bullying.
- 5:35Speaker 3: Yeah, that's too bad and be scared.
- 5:39Speaker 6: So the situation happened yesterday and now she's afraid to
- 5:42Speaker 6: go back to school today.
- 5:44Speaker 3: I'm sorry for.
- 5:46Speaker 6: So.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Yeah, is the school being helpful with with this?
- 5:52Speaker 6: Well, we met, we met with the counselor yesterday, so
- 5:55Speaker 6: we'll see.
- 5:57Speaker 2: I'm sorry she's dealing with that.
- 6:00Speaker 3: I just there's never any excuse for for that. I
- 6:03Speaker 3: don't know. I'm not even going to ask you what
- 6:05Speaker 3: the issue is, because there's never a reason. What doesn't
- 6:08Speaker 3: matter what the never a reason? Right, I'm sorry that's
- 6:14Speaker 3: hard on you too, all right, thanks thanks for checking in.
- 6:23Speaker 10: Yeah what y Hi? Hi, this is Johnny Bent from Syracuse.
- 6:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:30Speaker 10: I have a suggestion to make your show better.
- 6:32Speaker 8: Oh great, Oh good another person that has a suggestion.
- 6:36Speaker 10: Yes, okay, yes, yes, hey. Back in the day, all
- 6:40Speaker 10: used to broadcasts from Europe and do remote sites on
- 6:44Speaker 10: checking things out like the Olympics and not.
- 6:46Speaker 7: I really missed that, you do.
- 6:48Speaker 10: I missed that, and it's riveting because as I had
- 6:51Speaker 10: to tune in to listen to your broadcasts from Europe. Yeah,
- 6:56Speaker 10: like Greece. I think he did one in Germany.
- 6:58Speaker 3: In Germany, oh yeah, yeah, we were all over the place.
- 7:03Speaker 10: So more of that, and the management should fly you
- 7:05Speaker 10: out there.
- 7:06Speaker 7: Okay maybe your families.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Oh ain't our families too?
- 7:09Speaker 3: Okay, listen, you know what. I'm going to go home
- 7:13Speaker 3: and get packed now, Johnny, else is.
- 7:14Speaker 2: Gonna happen because I'm sure this will.
- 7:17Speaker 3: Thanks. Thanks for what you're saying.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Is it was interesting to hear us in different places
- 7:22Speaker 1: in different situations.
- 7:23Speaker 3: Really it didn't make you uncomfortable?
- 7:25Speaker 7: Yeah okay, I actually wanted to travel more so all right,
- 7:31Speaker 7: thanks John?
- 7:32Speaker 10: I got to pass when you broadcasted from Russia. I
- 7:35Speaker 10: went and got a passport that week, and so I
- 7:37Speaker 10: was able to go to Europe. Well, you know that
- 7:39Speaker 10: Russia's in Europe.
- 7:40Speaker 8: Why should why should everyone at this radio station bust
- 7:43Speaker 8: their ass to make it so that those guys can
- 7:46Speaker 8: go to Europe?
- 7:47Speaker 3: Thank you, Johnny, Y see you later.
- 7:49Speaker 8: Yeah, let's go to Jesse.
- 7:52Speaker 2: Jesse is hello, Yeah, what what's up?
- 7:55Speaker 3: Jesse?
- 7:56Speaker 6: Hey?
- 7:57Speaker 5: So I wanted to get on here and tell you
- 7:59Speaker 5: guys about something called the Story Explorium. I always say,
- 8:04Speaker 5: an organization called Operation Literacy, and we put on a
- 8:07Speaker 5: conference every year called story Con, and we're trying to
- 8:11Speaker 5: help beat the literacy crisis in Utah. Most kids under
- 8:15Speaker 5: a certain age can't read up to their grade level,
- 8:18Speaker 5: like six. So if you go to a website called
- 8:22Speaker 5: give butter dot com and you look up the story Explorium,
- 8:26Speaker 5: we're doing a fundraiser. It's very similar to go fund me.
- 8:29Speaker 5: We're building this fun booth that we can take to
- 8:31Speaker 5: different conferences, different reading expos and it's going to be
- 8:35Speaker 5: kind of like a museum where we have all of
- 8:38Speaker 5: these relics from different books. So we might have a
- 8:42Speaker 5: sword from U from King Arthur, we might have a
- 8:46Speaker 5: tiny jar with Edward Colan's ashes. We're coming up with
- 8:49Speaker 5: a lot of ideas. Okay, well, if you go to
- 8:51Speaker 5: give buttered, if you go to give butter dot com,
- 8:53Speaker 5: you can donate and you can help children's literacy in Utah.
- 8:57Speaker 3: A couple of suggestion here. It's you say it's story
- 8:59Speaker 3: com on now the things that you've described. That's that's
- 9:02Speaker 3: very nice. But you know what big celebrities have you
- 9:05Speaker 3: got coming? I mean, you know you need to have
- 9:07Speaker 3: some TV stars and movie stars and things like that.
- 9:12Speaker 5: I mean, this February, we're having Brandon Sanderson come by.
- 9:15Speaker 4: He may be our main guy.
- 9:17Speaker 3: There you go.
- 9:19Speaker 5: We're gonna have lots of different big authors, so Brandon
- 9:22Speaker 5: Sanderson's probably the biggest, but we usually will get Brandon Mall.
- 9:25Speaker 5: We've got lots of local artists. Adam Berg from Studio
- 9:28Speaker 5: C has been coming for the past few years. He's
- 9:30Speaker 5: now a writer. So we're gonna have lots of cool people.
- 9:33Speaker 3: Could you could you try and get that guy that
- 9:35Speaker 3: that plays uh Spider Man, Tom Hollander. Maybe you could
- 9:38Speaker 3: get him, huh what.
- 9:42Speaker 6: Maybe great?
- 9:46Speaker 5: Maybe maybe we'll just get his suit and put it
- 9:48Speaker 5: in the story Exploring.
- 9:49Speaker 3: Well that's the Okay, that's a start. I just try.
- 9:51Speaker 3: I'm just trying to help you get big stars, you know, right.
- 9:55Speaker 5: Yeah, Well we also have the guy who created the
- 9:57Speaker 5: Iron Man suit who's helping us build this story explore.
- 10:01Speaker 3: So that's good. That's good now, But if you could
- 10:03Speaker 3: actually get Ironman to come, that would be even you
- 10:06Speaker 3: know a little better, Tim.
- 10:10Speaker 5: I'm sure, Okay, I can't have connections to the.
- 10:12Speaker 3: Real Ironman, ask Robert Downey Jr. No, I'm just what's
- 10:17Speaker 3: what's the website again?
- 10:19Speaker 5: So the website is give butter dot com and if
- 10:22Speaker 5: you look up story Exploring you can donate. There is
- 10:26Speaker 5: a single dollar. You can donate up to one thousand
- 10:28Speaker 5: dollars and get some really cool swagger.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Excellent, Thank you, thank you, see you later, thank you.
- 10:33Speaker 8: All right, So it's mister mcgoram's wondering Pory.
- 10:36Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 10:36Speaker 3: Oh yeah, Barbara Dustin Hoffman Hello, yeah, what yes, Barbara.
- 10:42Speaker 11: Good morning, Lords and lady. I just wanted to call
- 10:46Speaker 11: in with a suggestion, not necessarily for your show, but
- 10:51Speaker 11: how cool would it be if we could find a
- 10:53Speaker 11: way to make politicians have to wear jerseys for the
- 10:58Speaker 11: companies and the businesses that they take money from. Yeah, So,
- 11:03Speaker 11: like you spot an athlete, you see what jersey he's wearing,
- 11:07Speaker 11: and you know, you know which which you know what
- 11:10Speaker 11: he's what company is paring?
- 11:11Speaker 3: You know, no, you know what, Barbara, Barbara, Barbara, what
- 11:14Speaker 3: you're really looking for is not just a single jersey,
- 11:18Speaker 3: but race car drivers NASCAR, NASCAR and other and all
- 11:23Speaker 3: kinds of race car drivers. And I think bicycle guys
- 11:25Speaker 3: do it too, but race car drivers they wear, you know,
- 11:28Speaker 3: jackets and stuff with dozens of sponsors on.
- 11:31Speaker 7: Them, all of them absolute, yes.
- 11:34Speaker 3: Yes, all of them. So so we would need to
- 11:36Speaker 3: each legislator, each legislator to wear a jacket that has
- 11:40Speaker 3: the logo of every single corporate donor donor on it.
- 11:44Speaker 11: I agree. And also the text for that logo for
- 11:48Speaker 11: that company or business should be bigger by the amount
- 11:52Speaker 11: of money name accepted from them.
- 11:54Speaker 2: I like that too.
- 11:55Speaker 3: There you go. Yeah, the suggests good idea.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Anyway.
- 11:59Speaker 11: All right, hey, thanks guys, have a good day.
- 12:01Speaker 3: Thank you later.
- 12:02Speaker 8: All right, thank you.
- 12:04Speaker 3: Let's go to Frank.
- 12:05Speaker 10: Hello.
- 12:06Speaker 7: Yeah, wo morning, this is Frank Clayton. I am the
- 12:10Speaker 7: Happy Therapist.
- 12:11Speaker 3: Hi, high, Happy Therapist. What's up with you?
- 12:16Speaker 7: Well, I just wanted to throw it out there that
- 12:19Speaker 7: with all the craziness going on in the world, I
- 12:22Speaker 7: have taken my class of sixteen years that I've done
- 12:26Speaker 7: here in Salt Lake City, and I've brought it out
- 12:29Speaker 7: to YouTube and TikTok, and the science behind positive psychology
- 12:36Speaker 7: has had absolutely amazing results in my class. And so
- 12:41Speaker 7: I thought, I can't I can't contain this anymore. With
- 12:44Speaker 7: all everything going on in the world. They need to
- 12:47Speaker 7: help people to be happier, but even more importantly, more
- 12:51Speaker 7: optimistic and more resilience. So, Frank, do you think you
- 12:55Speaker 7: could shout out?
- 12:56Speaker 3: You think you could cheer me up? Yes?
- 13:01Speaker 2: It is very confident in that.
- 13:02Speaker 3: So, so what's your YouTube channel?
- 13:04Speaker 7: Then it's uh, your Happy Therapist's.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Easy to remember.
- 13:10Speaker 3: Just look for it on YouTube.
- 13:13Speaker 7: Uh huh YouTube or TikTok, Instagram and Facebook.
- 13:17Speaker 3: Okay, okay. And then and then if I if I
- 13:19Speaker 3: don't get cheered up, can I send you a note? Yes,
- 13:25Speaker 3: it's a challenge.
- 13:26Speaker 7: I appreciate all of it.
- 13:27Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, I'm gonna look it up your Happy Therapist,
- 13:31Speaker 3: Thank your thanks, thank.
- 13:32Speaker 7: You, sir.
- 13:33Speaker 3: Let's go to Mike. Mike Hello, Yeah, what what's up Mike.
- 13:39Speaker 7: Guys, thanks for letting me listen. Uh.
- 13:43Speaker 8: They've remodeled my local Walmart super center and they've done
- 13:46Speaker 8: a beautiful job, and the problem is I just can't
- 13:49Speaker 8: find anything anymore.
- 13:51Speaker 2: This is my favorite call.
- 13:53Speaker 3: I know that happened. That happened at my Smith's. And
- 13:58Speaker 3: it's not even a particularly big Smiths. They rearranged everything
- 14:04Speaker 3: and re sort of refurbished the inside of the store,
- 14:06Speaker 3: so it's a small Smiths as a matter of fact,
- 14:08Speaker 3: the one in the Avenues. And they did this a
- 14:11Speaker 3: long time ago, and they switched everything around, and I
- 14:15Speaker 3: still have trouble finding stuff because they switched it all around.
- 14:20Speaker 3: It's terrible. Yes, I'm going to write a sternly worded
- 14:26Speaker 3: letter to the management. How about you, Mike?
- 14:31Speaker 7: Yes, I feel foolish every time I go in.
- 14:33Speaker 3: Now, I think we you need to write a letter
- 14:36Speaker 3: to Sam Walton right away.
- 14:41Speaker 7: Okay, all right, thanks Mike.
- 14:46Speaker 3: I feel foolish. I don't know where.
- 14:49Speaker 1: They want to force you to walk up and down
- 14:52Speaker 1: every aisle, that's what they're.
- 14:53Speaker 3: Trying to do. Where's the fishing tackle?
- 14:57Speaker 1: Where he's on Aisle Tess?
- 15:01Speaker 3: Where are the Q tips? I can't find the produce.
- 15:06Speaker 8: Oh my, alright, well there you go.
- 15:08Speaker 11: Hello. Yeah, what
