- 0:01Speaker 1: Jaguars are getting ready to head to London for two games.
- 0:04Speaker 1: You guys have been to most of them, if not
- 0:06Speaker 1: all of them. Which ones are your most memorable moments
- 0:08Speaker 1: in London?
- 0:09Speaker 2: Who you want to start me? I'll go with Buffalo.
- 0:12Speaker 3: Jag scored two defensive touchdowns in the span of about
- 0:14Speaker 3: thirty seconds of game time and Alan Hurds made an
- 0:17Speaker 3: amazing play on the pylon at the end to win
- 0:19Speaker 3: the ball game.
- 0:20Speaker 2: To win over Buffalo at Wembley was awesome.
- 0:22Speaker 4: There's a few.
- 0:22Speaker 5: I'll go with the Ravens twenty seventeen. They blew them out.
- 0:26Speaker 4: Ravens weren't quite ready for the trip.
- 0:28Speaker 5: It didn't seem like but it's that year, Brian was
- 0:31Speaker 5: when I knew the Jaguars were good.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Welcome to JAG's am here on Wednesday, September twenty sevenths
- 0:54Speaker 1: were presented by Jet Homeloans today here in the Hyundai
- 0:56Speaker 1: studios and things are looking bright. We're heading to London soon,
- 1:00Speaker 1: so I just wanted to check in and hedys ten
- 1:02Speaker 1: games it's going to be they've played in London, which yeah,
- 1:04Speaker 1: feels like it was like in my mind, I'm like,
- 1:06Speaker 1: oh yeah, they just started doing that, but clearly not
- 1:08Speaker 1: many many years ago now.
- 1:09Speaker 3: And I wrote this for a quick thought. You know,
- 1:12Speaker 3: people were nervous about what London meant for Jacksonville. But
- 1:15Speaker 3: you know, a decade later now with negotiations started on
- 1:19Speaker 3: a new stadium here. I mean, it's clear that London
- 1:22Speaker 3: has been what John and Mark said it would be,
- 1:24Speaker 3: which is an accouterment to a small market. More than that, though, John,
- 1:27Speaker 3: you look at what the league is doing. You know,
- 1:29Speaker 3: they're playing multiple games in multiple countries every year. They're
- 1:32Speaker 3: talking about expanding to Spain and Brazil. The Jaguars were
- 1:35Speaker 3: a bit ahead of the curve. Now everybody wants to
- 1:38Speaker 3: play games outside of the country and expand their marketing base.
- 1:41Speaker 3: It's been good for the Jaguars.
- 1:43Speaker 5: And everybody sort of wants a sister city if you sure,
- 1:46Speaker 5: every team sort of wants, and I think they gave
- 1:49Speaker 5: out last off season. Two off seasons ago they sort
- 1:52Speaker 5: of assigned some teams some territories.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Over there, twenty one teams with marketing.
- 1:57Speaker 5: Rights, so shad From early on, Mark wanted London as
- 2:02Speaker 5: sort of their auxiliary and market, if you will.
- 2:05Speaker 4: They were ahead of the curve, as you said, you.
- 2:06Speaker 3: Know, they're marketing in Africa. Now in Ghana, I believe
- 2:09Speaker 3: someone's got Nigeria. They're in Switzerland. I mean, they are
- 2:12Speaker 3: expanding rapidly their footprint. I just got done reading a
- 2:15Speaker 3: book called The Club, which is about the Premier League.
- 2:18Speaker 3: And it's interesting because the Premier League modeled the NFL stadiums,
- 2:21Speaker 3: and now the NFL is modeling the Premier League's global reach.
- 2:24Speaker 1: It's so cool to see football actually expanding. I know
- 2:26Speaker 1: it's huge in America, but internationally hasn't always been that way.
- 2:30Speaker 1: So now to see it getting a little bit of
- 2:31Speaker 1: a foothold. I remember that Mexico City game was really cool,
- 2:34Speaker 1: and it's just nice to see it growing.
- 2:36Speaker 3: And the Jaguars have a big staff in London and
- 2:38Speaker 3: they do a lot of work on the ground in London,
- 2:40Speaker 3: and so it's become a valuable part of the Jaguars
- 2:43Speaker 3: as a franchise.
- 2:44Speaker 4: Jaguars need that Trinidad Tobago mark.
- 2:47Speaker 6: That would be the worst trip.
- 2:48Speaker 2: I would certainly it wouldn't suck to have to go
- 2:50Speaker 2: to Rio j Jennio for a gag.
- 2:51Speaker 1: I was going to say, that's the new territory they
- 2:54Speaker 1: need for sure. All right, let's go over some of
- 2:55Speaker 1: our big things this week, because there are a few
- 2:58Speaker 1: of them. The truth is the first one. We talked
- 3:00Speaker 1: about this all on Monday. We rehashed it wasn't to
- 3:03Speaker 1: look it didn't. They didn't play well against the Texans.
- 3:05Speaker 1: They haven't looked good in a couple of weeks and
- 3:07Speaker 1: they needed to hear it. Luke Fordner said Doug Peterson
- 3:10Speaker 1: was not shying away from it when he talked to
- 3:11Speaker 1: them about it.
- 3:13Speaker 7: Coach Peterson not a very good one, you know. He
- 3:18Speaker 7: came in and he was honest and told to say,
- 3:22Speaker 7: we're not where we want to be, and we have
- 3:24Speaker 7: a long way to go, and collectively, we're gonna have
- 3:28Speaker 7: to work, you know, every single day, every single week
- 3:30Speaker 7: to get to that point.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Brian, I didn't imagine Doug was going to mince words
- 3:36Speaker 1: with them, but it's nice to hear that he actually
- 3:38Speaker 1: went in there and kind of helped court a little bit.
- 3:40Speaker 6: Because he's a player's coach. He's a nice guy. But
- 3:41Speaker 6: when you need to hear it, you got.
- 3:42Speaker 2: To hear it well.
- 3:43Speaker 3: And I thought he started that the week before when
- 3:45Speaker 3: he told the media, hey, we didn't practice very well
- 3:47Speaker 3: last week, and then it became the narrative leading up
- 3:50Speaker 3: to the game against the Texans, and the players in
- 3:52Speaker 3: the locker room had to answer questions about why didn't
- 3:55Speaker 3: you practice well?
- 3:55Speaker 2: And are you going to practice well this week?
- 3:58Speaker 3: So for him to go in on Monday is just
- 3:59Speaker 3: consistent and see on his part and say, look, we
- 4:01Speaker 3: didn't play well again, and I'm going to tell the
- 4:03Speaker 3: media we didn't play well again and why.
- 4:06Speaker 2: So you all have to understand.
- 4:07Speaker 3: It and be able to answer the questions, both to
- 4:09Speaker 3: each other and to the guys who are going to
- 4:11Speaker 3: come in here with microphones.
- 4:12Speaker 5: Yeah, it does a players coach, but you've never gotten
- 4:15Speaker 5: a feeling from players that he coddles him. He knows
- 4:18Speaker 5: to tell him what they want to hear. Sometimes you
- 4:21Speaker 5: need a foot in your ear end.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Yeah, and hopefully that's exactly what they need this week.
- 4:25Speaker 6: Now. The noise is our.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Second big thing because there were high expectations for this team.
- 4:30Speaker 6: We've been talking about it for months.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Calvin Ridley. Of course, the offense, we expected a lot
- 4:34Speaker 1: out of everybody. Andra Cisco said the team is now
- 4:37Speaker 1: doing their best. Whether they bought into that or not.
- 4:39Speaker 1: To put that out of mind, I.
- 4:41Speaker 8: Think that's something that happens naturally. I mean ESPN's on
- 4:45Speaker 8: all day twenty four to seven. You'll see yourself on
- 4:47Speaker 8: TV at random moments. I for myself, I don't think
- 4:50Speaker 8: it does. It affects me too much. Everybody handled it differently,
- 4:52Speaker 8: and I think anybody who I can't say I've been
- 4:55Speaker 8: walking around the locker room and see a guy get
- 4:57Speaker 8: big headed over it or anything like that, because it's
- 4:59Speaker 8: part of the of the game. I mean, if you've
- 5:01Speaker 8: made it to the NFL, you've had a ton of
- 5:03Speaker 8: spot light already, so being able to handle the expectations
- 5:05Speaker 8: it is a little bit different being in the NFL.
- 5:07Speaker 8: But we've had a lot of guys that've had a
- 5:09Speaker 8: ton of stuff in the week.
- 5:11Speaker 1: John I wasn't around the team feeling like they were
- 5:13Speaker 1: necessarily overly cocky and thought they should be given these games.
- 5:16Speaker 1: But obviously human reaction. You listen to some of the hype,
- 5:19Speaker 1: but I think all of that has gone.
- 5:20Speaker 4: Now, yeah it should be. I'm not big on the noise.
- 5:24Speaker 5: I hear it, but I try to look at what's
- 5:26Speaker 5: really going on, and the reality is they weren't very
- 5:30Speaker 5: good on Sunday. I think they were okay, except offense
- 5:34Speaker 5: against the Chiefs. This isn't noise, but the reality is,
- 5:38Speaker 5: all of a sudden, Sunday is really big because you're
- 5:41Speaker 5: one and two. You haven't played well. If you have
- 5:44Speaker 5: another stinker, you've all of a sudden dug yourself a
- 5:47Speaker 5: hole that takes a while to get out of. It's
- 5:49Speaker 5: hard to win every week in this league. You're one
- 5:51Speaker 5: in three. Now, if you win three and lose one,
- 5:53Speaker 5: you're still five. You know, you're still crawling out of
- 5:56Speaker 5: that hole. Week four is always big for those one
- 5:59Speaker 5: and two teams because you feel out of it if
- 6:01Speaker 5: you drop so noise aside and I can say the
- 6:05Speaker 5: team's bad, but if they play bad Sunday, they're a
- 6:08Speaker 5: bad team.
- 6:09Speaker 3: Right now, Hey, look, the noise is double sided, right
- 6:12Speaker 3: The noise is the expectations that obvious. Leandre talked about.
- 6:16Speaker 3: The noise this week is, Hey, they're not a good
- 6:19Speaker 3: football team. They're not playing very well. The offensive line
- 6:22Speaker 3: isn't very good, or the defensive pass rush isn't very good.
- 6:24Speaker 3: I mean, whatever that noise may be, they really have
- 6:27Speaker 3: to lock out. I mean, if John and I and
- 6:29Speaker 3: you can sit here and talk about what one in
- 6:31Speaker 3: three might mean, they've figured it out. They just need
- 6:34Speaker 3: to dial in and focus on the message from Doug
- 6:37Speaker 3: and the work that they can do, because the challenge
- 6:39Speaker 3: of the Falcons is significant, no matter what the outside
- 6:42Speaker 3: noise says. You know, the matchup problems that they create.
- 6:45Speaker 3: They got to be solely focused on that and ky
- 6:48Speaker 3: another thing. You know, Gus Bradley didn't have the greatest
- 6:50Speaker 3: record when he was the head coach here, that is
- 6:52Speaker 3: no secret, but he did have a good I thought
- 6:55Speaker 3: model of what he wanted players to do, and that
- 6:57Speaker 3: was to come in here and focus on being the
- 7:00Speaker 3: best player they could be, not to worry about the
- 7:02Speaker 3: guy next to them or the guy across from them,
- 7:04Speaker 3: but just do what they do because if they were
- 7:07Speaker 3: completely confident and comfortable in doing what they do, the
- 7:11Speaker 3: anxiety would go away.
- 7:12Speaker 2: On Sunday.
- 7:13Speaker 3: I would love to see that be the mindset for
- 7:15Speaker 3: this football team is just focus on doing my job
- 7:18Speaker 3: and doing my job to the best of my ability
- 7:20Speaker 3: and not worrying about what the guy next to me
- 7:22Speaker 3: or the guy across me is doing, and that might
- 7:24Speaker 3: alleviate some of the anxiety.
- 7:27Speaker 1: It leads us into our final big thing, which is
- 7:29Speaker 1: going to be the work this week. Doug Peterson was
- 7:32Speaker 1: very candid when he said he didn't feel the team
- 7:33Speaker 1: practice very well in Chiefs. Week saw a bad outcome there,
- 7:36Speaker 1: although it was mostly the offense that struggled. Then last
- 7:40Speaker 1: week everybody struggled even though they seemingly had a good
- 7:43Speaker 1: week of practice. So Don Peterson talked earlier this week
- 7:45Speaker 1: a little bit about what he wants to see from
- 7:47Speaker 1: his team.
- 7:49Speaker 9: A little bit of a hole we've put ourselves in.
- 7:51Speaker 9: I just want to see how these guys respond. I
- 7:53Speaker 9: want to see the energy on Wednesday. I want to
- 7:55Speaker 9: see the attention to detail, how do they attack the
- 7:58Speaker 9: walk through the meetings, you know, the practice that day,
- 8:03Speaker 9: and just how do they respond right? And obviously they're
- 8:08Speaker 9: they're they're frustrated today, disappointed today because they know, I mean,
- 8:12Speaker 9: I painted a pretty vibrant picture for him this morning,
- 8:16Speaker 9: and uh, we all know where we are, and but
- 8:20Speaker 9: we all know where we can go and where we
- 8:22Speaker 9: where we can or what we can become as a
- 8:25Speaker 9: football team. And and you know they get excited for
- 8:29Speaker 9: that part of it.
- 8:31Speaker 1: John, good practice, bad practice for me. I think it's
- 8:33Speaker 1: really going to come down to game time again and
- 8:35Speaker 1: what they're actually gonna put together.
- 8:36Speaker 4: Yeah, and I think it's a tough way.
- 8:38Speaker 5: It's it's one of the more fascinating weeks that I
- 8:43Speaker 5: can remember around here.
- 8:44Speaker 4: And I'm really.
- 8:45Speaker 5: Interested to watch this game, instant to watch all of them. Brian,
- 8:47Speaker 5: that's the job. But I you know, I agree with Kay.
- 8:52Speaker 5: I don't know that it's as much about the work
- 8:53Speaker 5: this week. I'm assuming they have a good practice. They're
- 8:55Speaker 5: gonna be motivated. They've got a foot in their butt.
- 8:58Speaker 5: They haven't played well and they want to proof. To me,
- 9:01Speaker 5: the game is gonna be interesting. If they're down seven
- 9:05Speaker 5: to nothing in the second quarter, how they react to
- 9:10Speaker 5: that after all the noise, after hey, relax, play your game.
- 9:14Speaker 5: All of a sudden you're down. It's hard to relax.
- 9:16Speaker 5: So to me, it is a really fascinating game. It's
- 9:23Speaker 5: a big game. It's a dangerous game on that front
- 9:26Speaker 5: because the Falcons aren't bad. They can run. It's I'm
- 9:33Speaker 5: sort of at a loss for how to preanalyze it
- 9:35Speaker 5: because we've preoralized it so much. It's about that moment,
- 9:39Speaker 5: and it won't know that moment until Sunday.
- 9:40Speaker 3: Well, and I'll stick with the psychology because I've been
- 9:43Speaker 3: talking about it for two weeks There are plenty of
- 9:45Speaker 3: reasons for the Jaguars to not feel confident, but there's
- 9:48Speaker 3: plenty of reasons for them to feel confident. They know, right,
- 9:51Speaker 3: you've got Trevor Lawrence and Calvin Ridley and Christian Kirk.
- 9:54Speaker 3: You've got players on both sides of the line of
- 9:56Speaker 3: scrimmage that you can line up with and win. So
- 9:59Speaker 3: they've got to get over that. Here's why I'm not
- 10:01Speaker 3: confident and how do I get to confidence? And John,
- 10:04Speaker 3: you said it right, It's about making a play. If
- 10:07Speaker 3: Calvin catches that ball at the goal line, I think
- 10:10Speaker 3: everybody who's watching, let alone everyone who's sitting on this
- 10:12Speaker 3: set would agree the game is different because then everyone
- 10:15Speaker 3: calms down. They're looking for a calm down moment. Hopefully
- 10:19Speaker 3: that happens on the first drive. Whether it's a sack,
- 10:21Speaker 3: strip fumble right or whether it's a touchdown pass. Get
- 10:25Speaker 3: that calm down moment and everybody focus.
- 10:28Speaker 2: On doing your job.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Nice, nice breath of fresh air is what we're all
- 10:33Speaker 1: hoping for. I think Jagsam is brought to you by
- 10:35Speaker 1: Fields Autogroup, Jacksonville. Step up to luxury Fields Auto dot Com.
- 10:38Speaker 1: We're gonna take a quick break. We will be back
- 10:40Speaker 1: and we will talk about the AFC South and what's
- 10:42Speaker 1: going on around the division. We're back here on jags
- 10:52Speaker 1: Am today and we're gonna talk a little bit about
- 10:54Speaker 1: the AFC South because we like to keep track of
- 10:56Speaker 1: what everybody else is doing. And don't look now, but
- 10:59Speaker 1: the Colts are leading the AFC South after another performance
- 11:02Speaker 1: from a familiar face. Gardnermentshew playing because Anthony Richardson was hurt,
- 11:06Speaker 1: and they got a win over the Ravens last week.
- 11:10Speaker 6: And are they good?
- 11:12Speaker 3: Well, they've got some good players, okay, Gardner minsh'll get
- 11:17Speaker 3: you six wins.
- 11:18Speaker 5: Okay, Yeah, And it'll be interesting if they play him,
- 11:22Speaker 5: which they may be tempted to.
- 11:25Speaker 4: How sustainable it is.
- 11:26Speaker 5: It never felt sustainable here, Maybe it'll be different there.
- 11:30Speaker 5: I think they've got an okay defense. I think fans
- 11:34Speaker 5: sort of underrated that defense going into that over.
- 11:36Speaker 4: I think we all did.
- 11:37Speaker 5: Frog seven is very good, pretty good defensively. And I'll
- 11:40Speaker 5: tell you, if you're the Jaguars, if there's going to
- 11:44Speaker 5: be a team ahead of you early, you don't mind
- 11:46Speaker 5: it being them, sure, because you beat them and.
- 11:49Speaker 4: You reel it back in very quickly.
- 11:52Speaker 5: I'd rather have the Colts a game ahead than the
- 11:54Speaker 5: Texans right now, because the Texans have an advantage.
- 11:56Speaker 3: You know, I don't think I underrated their front. I
- 11:58Speaker 3: think I overrated the dag Wars offensive line, to be
- 12:00Speaker 3: honest with you, And their front is good. Grover Stewart
- 12:03Speaker 3: is an underrated player for sure. Look if they're putting
- 12:07Speaker 3: some points on the board, that defense is going to
- 12:08Speaker 3: be a real beast.
- 12:09Speaker 1: And we talked a little bit about what Jonathan Taylor
- 12:11Speaker 1: situation is the second time around.
- 12:13Speaker 2: We could see him here.
- 12:14Speaker 1: That could be a very different game that second time
- 12:16Speaker 1: around when we get back from London, So keep an
- 12:18Speaker 1: eye on that.
- 12:18Speaker 6: Of course, the Titans they've.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Got troubles in Nashville as well because they fell big
- 12:23Speaker 1: time to the Browns and they didn't score touchdown either.
- 12:25Speaker 1: So we just talked last week we kind of saw
- 12:28Speaker 1: a little bit of something out of quarterback play. But
- 12:31Speaker 1: now Derrick Henry is still not that Dereck Henry were
- 12:33Speaker 1: used to seeing.
- 12:33Speaker 3: Well, yeah, Dereck Henry has been a non factor so far.
- 12:36Speaker 3: The other side of the coin, though, is the up
- 12:38Speaker 3: and down is Ryan Tannehill. He was terrible on opening
- 12:42Speaker 3: Day with three interceptions, then last week rebounds and leads
- 12:45Speaker 3: the league in yards per completion to ten point three. Well,
- 12:48Speaker 3: then last week he reverts no Derick Henry four point two. Right,
- 12:53Speaker 3: they are so inconsistent in their passing. I mean, I
- 12:57Speaker 3: say that we've seen wild inconsistency here as well. But
- 13:02Speaker 3: that's why I think they've got a problem. They committed
- 13:04Speaker 3: to another season of Tannehill and Derrick Henry and it
- 13:07Speaker 3: doesn't appear like they're capable of carrying that thing through
- 13:09Speaker 3: for another year.
- 13:10Speaker 5: Yeah, the Browns might be pretty good if there's a
- 13:12Speaker 5: red flag there for the Titans. It lost the Browns
- 13:15Speaker 5: big after the Browns had a primetime game the week
- 13:17Speaker 5: before and Monday Night and sometimes let down Browns and
- 13:20Speaker 5: it wasn't that would concern.
- 13:21Speaker 4: You a little bit.
- 13:23Speaker 5: Again, Rabel usually figures out a way to keep that
- 13:27Speaker 5: team competitive, unless it's just time, which your theory is
- 13:32Speaker 5: for that friend of time, I'd still rather have that
- 13:36Speaker 5: team four or five games out than close at the end.
- 13:39Speaker 3: I think there's a chance we could see Malik Willis,
- 13:41Speaker 3: who had a really strong summer and a preseason that
- 13:44Speaker 3: will if he's practicing well and that thing is not
- 13:47Speaker 3: going anywhere by the time they get to us. In November,
- 13:50Speaker 3: we could see Malik Willis.
- 13:51Speaker 6: I mean, I hope that's true. I hope they're nowhere
- 13:53Speaker 6: near us.
- 13:53Speaker 3: Well, based on what we saw last year, however, apparently
- 13:56Speaker 3: you know, the lights going on for that kid and
- 13:58Speaker 3: he was playing well.
- 14:00Speaker 6: Okay, we'll have to check in on that.
- 14:02Speaker 1: And of course Texans we saw that firsthand what they
- 14:04Speaker 1: were capable of. But C. J. Stroud just looked magnificent. Magnificent.
- 14:08Speaker 1: He's off to a historic start. Over nine hundred yards passing,
- 14:12Speaker 1: four touchdowns and no interceptions.
- 14:14Speaker 6: No quarterback rookie quarterback has ever done that.
- 14:17Speaker 1: He's only behind passing yards for rookie quarterback Cam Newton
- 14:20Speaker 1: and Justin Herbert. That's some pretty good company. And he
- 14:22Speaker 1: seems like the real deal so far.
- 14:23Speaker 3: Right, Well, look, he was playing with the lead for
- 14:25Speaker 3: the first time in his NFL career and he was
- 14:28Speaker 3: very impressive.
- 14:29Speaker 2: He was calm, he made good decisions.
- 14:32Speaker 3: The way that he picked up that Tank Dell Streak
- 14:35Speaker 3: route on the blitz was I mean, it won the game.
- 14:38Speaker 3: So there's nothing you can say about this kid except
- 14:40Speaker 3: that he has impressed losing winning, you know, in front
- 14:44Speaker 3: of the media, on the field, he's the real deal.
- 14:47Speaker 4: Yeah, Jaywars helped him look good.
- 14:49Speaker 5: I mean, I think everybody would say one of the
- 14:51Speaker 5: bullet point disappointments was that you didn't sack Stroud and
- 14:56Speaker 5: therefore you didn't force him into a pick.
- 14:58Speaker 4: Yeah, he will.
- 15:00Speaker 5: Well, I still believe at some point this year he
- 15:02Speaker 5: will struggle with turnovers because Ricky quarterback student, somebody will
- 15:07Speaker 5: hit him and that clock in the head will go faster.
- 15:11Speaker 5: The Jaguars defense was negligent on that front.
- 15:15Speaker 4: On Sunday, he did.
- 15:16Speaker 6: Make him look very very good.
- 15:18Speaker 1: All right, coming up, we're gonna go over this or
- 15:19Speaker 1: that for this upcoming week's game against the Falcons.
- 15:22Speaker 6: Stay with us.
- 15:26Speaker 1: This is this or this or that is presented by
- 15:31Speaker 1: Price dot Com and we're gonna do an either or
- 15:34Speaker 1: situation here as we head to London. We're gonna go
- 15:36Speaker 1: over some of what they're going through. Brian, what's your
- 15:39Speaker 1: this or that for us?
- 15:40Speaker 3: Well, I mean, so I have read I've heard people
- 15:43Speaker 3: say this is the perfect week for the Draguars to
- 15:46Speaker 3: get on the plane and to go to London. So
- 15:48Speaker 3: my question is this, you know, is this the perfect
- 15:50Speaker 3: week for that or would it be better to get
- 15:52Speaker 3: into the root to stay in the routine and keep
- 15:54Speaker 3: doing what you do until you do it better.
- 15:57Speaker 2: I'm not sure there's a right or wrong answer to
- 15:59Speaker 2: this one. Just curious what you think.
- 16:01Speaker 5: Oh, I'd always it's always better stay home. I mean so,
- 16:06Speaker 5: and I think most NFL coaches to tell you if
- 16:09Speaker 5: it's a routine business Monday Tuesday, you know, everything's the
- 16:15Speaker 5: same every week. So I don't think. I'm not sure
- 16:21Speaker 5: it's ever a great week in terms of preparation, in
- 16:25Speaker 5: terms of ease, But this team knows how to do this,
- 16:28Speaker 5: so I don't think it's a negative either.
- 16:30Speaker 6: For me. It's kind of if it was one game,
- 16:31Speaker 6: I probably say no.
- 16:32Speaker 1: But because it's too it's almost like you're going and
- 16:35Speaker 1: kind of setting something up. It's its own little two
- 16:37Speaker 1: game set, if you will, to use a baseball reference.
- 16:40Speaker 1: But that's why I kind of like it, because you're
- 16:42Speaker 1: going there, you're gonna set up home base, be there
- 16:44Speaker 1: for you know, twelve days. I think we're going to
- 16:46Speaker 1: be there, So that makes it a little bit different
- 16:49Speaker 1: for me. If it was just going in and back,
- 16:51Speaker 1: that would probably be probably wouldn't like that as much.
- 16:53Speaker 1: But I think this fact will be there for two
- 16:55Speaker 1: weeks will allow it to be a little bit different.
- 16:58Speaker 2: I'm not sure.
- 16:58Speaker 4: Got to get some dubs, Yeah, let's go.
- 17:00Speaker 5: So I went with is it a must win game
- 17:05Speaker 5: or a really really big game? And that sounds like
- 17:08Speaker 5: the same thing, But I think there's a difference there.
- 17:10Speaker 5: I don't think it's must win because if you go
- 17:12Speaker 5: to one and three, we saw last year two and six,
- 17:15Speaker 5: you can pull out of.
- 17:15Speaker 4: These things in this league.
- 17:18Speaker 5: So technically it's not, but it just feels so big
- 17:24Speaker 5: in terms of judging where this team is.
- 17:29Speaker 4: I guess, to me, if they.
- 17:31Speaker 5: Play well and lose, then I don't think it's a
- 17:34Speaker 5: must win game, meaning you can play well in the
- 17:37Speaker 5: NFL and lose on a weird play.
- 17:38Speaker 4: Okay, well, they're not a mess.
- 17:41Speaker 5: It's really really important that it not looks like a
- 17:43Speaker 5: messicgan I think is the biggest thing that I would feel,
- 17:46Speaker 5: you know, because I don't think this team's a mess,
- 17:49Speaker 5: but if you show it two weeks in a row,
- 17:52Speaker 5: then you are. So I think it's that that's what's
- 17:55Speaker 5: intriguing to me. They didn't look good on Sunday. If
- 17:59Speaker 5: you don't look good twice, then something's wrong.
- 18:01Speaker 3: Well, and I'm going to lean into the must win
- 18:03Speaker 3: because if Doug is struggling to get them to believe
- 18:06Speaker 3: in themselves, right to be confident when they crossed the
- 18:08Speaker 3: fifty yard line get into a scoring situation, and it
- 18:12Speaker 3: sounds like does just sound like it looks.
- 18:14Speaker 2: Like he is.
- 18:15Speaker 3: I would hate to figure out what one in three
- 18:18Speaker 3: would do to this team headed to Buffalo, well to
- 18:20Speaker 3: totten him to play Buffalo, because the Bills are all
- 18:22Speaker 3: of a sudden put it on people thirty seven three.
- 18:24Speaker 3: I mean they just took the Commanders to the woodshed
- 18:27Speaker 3: last week. So I would say this is a must
- 18:29Speaker 3: win for a team that needs to feel confident going
- 18:31Speaker 3: up against one of the elite teams in the AFC
- 18:34Speaker 3: in Buffalo, because you've already got a loss to the
- 18:36Speaker 3: Kansas City Chiefs and you don't want to fall behind
- 18:39Speaker 3: in those standings.
- 18:40Speaker 1: That leads into my this or that, which is a
- 18:42Speaker 1: little bit of an either or if you can only
- 18:44Speaker 1: have one. Do you want to beat the Falcons or
- 18:46Speaker 1: do you want to beat the Bills, because if you
- 18:48Speaker 1: want to beat the Bills, have a statement win, it's
- 18:49Speaker 1: gonna get worse before it gets better. Or do you
- 18:51Speaker 1: want them to kind of get it back on track,
- 18:53Speaker 1: and then if they play a good game where we
- 18:54Speaker 1: talked about they played the Chiefs but they lost, but
- 18:57Speaker 1: they played well, it wasn't as disturbing.
- 19:00Speaker 6: Think about that. Which one would you rather.
- 19:01Speaker 3: Well, I think I'd rather have the Falcons. I'd rather
- 19:04Speaker 3: have this team get onto two and two and see
- 19:07Speaker 3: it calm down so that they could play a game
- 19:09Speaker 3: against the Bills where.
- 19:10Speaker 2: They're confident, where they feel better about themselves.
- 19:12Speaker 3: So I'll go give me the Falcons with even though
- 19:14Speaker 3: I know it's not a conference game and it doesn't
- 19:16Speaker 3: you know, have as much bearing on tiebreakers and things
- 19:19Speaker 3: like that. I'd like to see them, you know, what
- 19:21Speaker 3: is the right phrase get out of their own way
- 19:24Speaker 3: this week?
- 19:25Speaker 5: Yeah, if if I'm sitting at the end of the season,
- 19:28Speaker 5: they can say a bill, I'm saying Bills because you
- 19:31Speaker 5: can sort of see that, but I can't see. It's
- 19:36Speaker 5: hard for me to see them beating the Bills if
- 19:39Speaker 5: they don't beat the Falcons.
- 19:41Speaker 1: Now, that's what if it's one of those fluky last
- 19:43Speaker 1: second things where they the Falcons pull out a win
- 19:45Speaker 1: and then they.
- 19:47Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean and in this league you sit there
- 19:49Speaker 5: and say that and then all of a sudden, teams
- 19:51Speaker 5: come out and they play lights out and they beat
- 19:53Speaker 5: the Bills when you didn't meet the falcons, and it's like, well, John.
- 19:55Speaker 4: What are you talking about?
- 19:56Speaker 5: But right now I've got to say the falcons because
- 20:01Speaker 5: it feels so important, And maybe that's more of a
- 20:04Speaker 5: perception thing. I think people observing could understand the loss
- 20:09Speaker 5: to the Bills more than they could the falcons. So
- 20:11Speaker 5: in that sense, maybe you take the falcons.
- 20:14Speaker 6: I don't know if there's a right answer. I just
- 20:15Speaker 6: like to do a little fun, would you rather for you?
- 20:18Speaker 4: Oh?
- 20:18Speaker 6: That was fun, guy, I had so much fun.
- 20:20Speaker 1: All right, stay with us. We'll be right back and
- 20:21Speaker 1: we'll preview what we've got going on the rest of
- 20:23Speaker 1: the week. You're talking about getting back on schedule, getting
- 20:27Speaker 1: to routine. Wednesday here of London week is normal, par
- 20:32Speaker 1: for the course, right, it's Thursday that they go through.
- 20:35Speaker 1: I think the first half of the day is normal.
- 20:36Speaker 1: Then we're gonna get on a plane and go to
- 20:38Speaker 1: London overnight. Is that as hard as it sounds to
- 20:41Speaker 1: kind of do the red Eye and then practice or
- 20:43Speaker 1: is that the best way to do it?
- 20:44Speaker 5: It's it's not.
- 20:47Speaker 6: I mean, it's I guess we're not practicing, so it's
- 20:49Speaker 6: not hard.
- 20:49Speaker 5: Yeah, it's it's as normal as you can make it.
- 20:54Speaker 5: Because the Friday practice Brian is such a light practice anyway,
- 20:59Speaker 5: even here it's a different thing. So people figured out
- 21:02Speaker 5: that the way to do it is just go hard prep.
- 21:05Speaker 5: I think the Falcons w believe in the same time
- 21:07Speaker 5: the jagr If you're going over there, you either go
- 21:10Speaker 5: early in the week, like a Monday, which most teams
- 21:12Speaker 5: don't do anymore, or you do it this way because
- 21:15Speaker 5: you can go hard, get your big preparation, get as
- 21:18Speaker 5: close to a normal Friday, your dog tired, but then
- 21:22Speaker 5: by Saturday Sunday your body clock's back. So I mean it,
- 21:26Speaker 5: it's harder than driving five minutes home, but it's not
- 21:30Speaker 5: hard in the grand scheme of things compared to what.
- 21:33Speaker 2: It could be.
- 21:33Speaker 3: They've got a pretty good routine, you know. The folks
- 21:36Speaker 3: who handle the logistics in all of the details have
- 21:39Speaker 3: done this enough that they understand what needs to be done.
- 21:42Speaker 3: I'll say that I can remember Landing one year and
- 21:44Speaker 3: we went to the hotel and we had time before
- 21:46Speaker 3: we had to get on a bus to go to practice,
- 21:48Speaker 3: and I fell asleep and slept through the whole thing.
- 21:50Speaker 3: So I think it depends on how well you manage
- 21:53Speaker 3: yourself on that plane. I mean, you force yourself to
- 21:56Speaker 3: put the eye shades on and go to sleep so
- 21:58Speaker 3: that you can wake up and have a chance. It's
- 22:00Speaker 3: when you land to be at your best for the
- 22:02Speaker 3: practice field. You know, some guys will, some guys won't.
- 22:04Speaker 3: And then hopefully Saturday is an easy day for him too,
- 22:06Speaker 3: So take some.
- 22:07Speaker 1: Naps on Saturday. Maybe you see what we have to do.
- 22:10Speaker 1: All right, we'll be back tomorrow. We're gonna preview that
- 22:12Speaker 1: Falcons matchup fully and get some more tips before we
- 22:14Speaker 1: go to London out. I'm gonna have to get some
- 22:16Speaker 1: packing tips from you guys.
- 22:17Speaker 2: How you're gonna take it more than we are.
- 22:20Speaker 6: I know John's the fashion Dave and so hell help
- 22:22Speaker 6: me out, but I.
- 22:23Speaker 4: Do take my wardrobe very seriously.
- 22:25Speaker 2: Do you have a hair dryer with you or you
- 22:26Speaker 2: or did you call one?
- 22:28Speaker 4: If I had a hairdresser?
- 22:31Speaker 3: Well, my wife always asked he is the hotel with
- 22:33Speaker 3: a hair dryer because she wonders whether she has to
- 22:35Speaker 3: take hers?
- 22:36Speaker 4: Almost always do.
- 22:36Speaker 6: We're gonna find out, all right, We'll see you guys,
- 22:39Speaker 6: tomorrow morning,
