- 0:13Speaker 1: All right, everybody, Hey, it's I do Part two the podcast.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Or if you didn't get love right the first time,
- 0:18Speaker 1: that's okay, so we're here to help you get it.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Right the next time around.
- 0:21Speaker 1: I am one of your celebrity mentors, Bob Guiney and
- 0:24Speaker 1: you know from the Bachelor of course, and my podcast
- 0:26Speaker 1: I co host with Trista Sutter nay Wren almost famous ogs,
- 0:32Speaker 1: the favorite one on your dial find out everywhere you
- 0:33Speaker 1: can find a podcast. And today I am enjoyed by
- 0:36Speaker 1: return cast that I know, I love and I know
- 0:38Speaker 1: you know and you love from the Golden Bacherette and
- 0:40Speaker 1: the season now of Bachelor in Paradise, which we're going
- 0:42Speaker 1: to talk about today, my man Gary Livingston.
- 0:46Speaker 3: Gary, Hey, what's going on? Bob?
- 0:49Speaker 1: One of my fastest friends from this whole franchise. You
- 0:51Speaker 1: know that real great to see you, really, Oh, I
- 0:53Speaker 1: love it.
- 0:53Speaker 3: I'm humbled, I'm honored, thank you.
- 0:56Speaker 1: You're very welcome with you now. You know, I think
- 0:58Speaker 1: the first time we got to hand out was in
- 1:02Speaker 1: at the golf tournament and Pubble Beach, and man, we
- 1:06Speaker 1: just hit it off right away. You were so much fun,
- 1:08Speaker 1: such an easy guy to talk to. I also loved
- 1:11Speaker 1: how you sort of wrangled all the Goldens right the
- 1:15Speaker 1: mansion men. You were you were kind of the voice
- 1:18Speaker 1: of reason for a lot of those guys, I think,
- 1:20Speaker 1: but also a nice sounding board, like you all get
- 1:23Speaker 1: along so great. It really does remind me. And I
- 1:25Speaker 1: told Joan this as well. Of course, the beautiful Joe
- 1:27Speaker 1: and the Bats are atte, but I told the Golden Bachelorette,
- 1:30Speaker 1: I told her that it reminded me so much of
- 1:31Speaker 1: Trista's season. You know, Trista, I feel like, really set
- 1:34Speaker 1: the bar so high for this whole franchise, and how
- 1:37Speaker 1: she did it was encouraging us to be friends, like
- 1:40Speaker 1: the guys were friends. And granted that was a lot
- 1:42Speaker 1: of us behind the scenes too, Like I just refused,
- 1:44Speaker 1: I can't not be friends with everyone. It breaks my
- 1:47Speaker 1: I can't do it. And so I remember being on
- 1:49Speaker 1: the show and thinking, you know, well, there's I'm not
- 1:51Speaker 1: competing with these guys, like she's gonna like who she likes.
- 1:54Speaker 1: These guys are going to be my buddies. And to
- 1:56Speaker 1: this day, you know, I'm still great friends with Ryan.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Of course with Charlie Maher, who was the runner up
- 2:01Speaker 1: for just a season. All the final four guys. We're
- 2:04Speaker 1: all good buddies, you know, but I was actually number
- 2:06Speaker 1: five or six on that show. Jamie blythe who we've
- 2:09Speaker 1: had on the show. I mean, just so many guys,
- 2:11Speaker 1: and I feel like you guys kind of had that
- 2:12Speaker 1: same type of season your your crew still gets together, I.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Mean, it's night. Was that a conscious decision or is
- 2:18Speaker 2: this just happened with age?
- 2:19Speaker 3: It just I think I don't know, I don't know
- 2:21Speaker 3: if it's age or whatever. I think it was just
- 2:23Speaker 3: a combination of things where we all just felt safe
- 2:28Speaker 3: with each other because we were isolated, right, But it
- 2:32Speaker 3: took us back to a day and time when we
- 2:34Speaker 3: were growing up when we didn't have technology.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Right, yeah, because you can't have fault to communicate.
- 2:40Speaker 3: Yeah, And as a result of that, I think we
- 2:43Speaker 3: just all felt as though once we got that first rose,
- 2:49Speaker 3: that was the crew. Yeah.
- 2:51Speaker 2: The mansion men men.
- 2:53Speaker 3: Yeah, it was like the exclusive club.
- 2:57Speaker 2: You all moved into the mansion together, all moved in together,
- 2:59Speaker 2: and that's was like, hey, we're well you boys, right,
- 3:01Speaker 2: We're all you got.
- 3:02Speaker 3: That's it it was. It was. It was a big
- 3:04Speaker 3: time romancing connection totally.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Well you could always tell I think That's why the
- 3:07Speaker 1: show was such a treat. I've said it often, but
- 3:10Speaker 1: I was expecting the Bachelor franchise to kind of not
- 3:15Speaker 1: handle that the way that they did, right.
- 3:17Speaker 2: So my concern and I had concerns about the season
- 3:20Speaker 2: of Paradise.
- 3:20Speaker 1: We're going to talk about that too, but my concern
- 3:22Speaker 1: about the way that they were going to cast that
- 3:24Speaker 1: show was, you know, oh, we want the drama, so
- 3:26Speaker 1: we're going to have you know. I actually it started
- 3:29Speaker 1: with Gary season right with so they're like the cast
- 3:33Speaker 1: age appropriate women, just like on Jones season they cast
- 3:36Speaker 1: age appropriate men. Yes, And I loved that because my
- 3:39Speaker 1: fear was that they were gonna kind of do what
- 3:41Speaker 1: Paradise is doing now right where they bring in the
- 3:43Speaker 1: youngies and the oldies and they mix it up and
- 3:44Speaker 1: it's like, well, what's going to happen and everyone's going
- 3:46Speaker 1: to look weird and gross. And I think that that
- 3:48Speaker 1: hasn't happened, which I'm excited about. But it was also
- 3:51Speaker 1: one of those things where it would have it would
- 3:52Speaker 1: have bred competition, it would have bred angst and tension
- 3:58Speaker 1: that didn't need to be there. And and that's why
- 4:00Speaker 1: I think the Golden franchise is taken off the way
- 4:02Speaker 1: it has.
- 4:02Speaker 3: You know, what's an interesting points you make, because I
- 4:04Speaker 3: don't think the executive producers anticipated what the outcome was,
- 4:11Speaker 3: and as it was happening, they were, I think surprised
- 4:15Speaker 3: at the twist and turn of where we took the
- 4:19Speaker 3: show and then where they let it go as a
- 4:23Speaker 3: result of what we brought.
- 4:25Speaker 2: To the camaraderie was nice, yes, yes, yes, And it
- 4:28Speaker 2: wasn't like there needed to be controversy, that we didn't
- 4:32Speaker 2: need any angst or.
- 4:34Speaker 3: Any any of that. Now, it was us being close,
- 4:41Speaker 3: which made it even more special.
- 4:42Speaker 1: So yeah, I say it was a flashback for me.
- 4:44Speaker 1: I mean it was like watching trist a season. Trist
- 4:46Speaker 1: and I were talking about this earlier today. Because of course,
- 4:49Speaker 1: real quick, we are coming to you from the summerhouse
- 4:51Speaker 1: here and like Tahoe, the VRBO summer House, So procrastinators rejoice.
- 4:56Speaker 1: The early bird is not the only one who gets
- 4:58Speaker 1: the worm. VRBO offers last minute deals for private vacation rentals,
- 5:00Speaker 1: of course, and one of the things that I love.
- 5:03Speaker 1: We are in a sweet place, the river house, it is.
- 5:07Speaker 1: We are also in a really cool little community here
- 5:09Speaker 1: in Lake Tahoe. And if people haven't ever been here
- 5:12Speaker 1: to visit before. You got to make sure you'd get
- 5:14Speaker 1: here because it is so cool. But Trista and Ryan
- 5:17Speaker 1: are here, of course, who I still think are the
- 5:19Speaker 1: king and Queen of the franchise, right, I think I'm like,
- 5:22Speaker 1: I'm like the jack right, I'm like them.
- 5:28Speaker 2: Whatever it is, the next dude, you know, just from
- 5:30Speaker 2: age alone.
- 5:31Speaker 1: But but it's so nice to be here with them
- 5:33Speaker 1: because we started this whole journey together twenty two years ago,
- 5:37Speaker 1: and we were really great friends on Trista's season and
- 5:39Speaker 1: so and I tried to encourage that in my season
- 5:42Speaker 1: of The Bachelor, which came shortly thereafter, and I think
- 5:45Speaker 1: I got us there, you know, but it was it
- 5:46Speaker 1: was harder to do at that time because you didn't
- 5:49Speaker 1: have the history of the show to look back on.
- 5:51Speaker 1: And I think now watching how the Goldens handle it,
- 5:54Speaker 1: like I said, I absolutely love that.
- 5:56Speaker 2: So great job.
- 5:57Speaker 1: I think has reflected well on all of you, and
- 6:00Speaker 1: it's why I think in large part, you guys have
- 6:03Speaker 1: kind of continued on in that Bachelor zeitgeist. Right, you
- 6:09Speaker 1: guys have kind of really kind of moved in and
- 6:12Speaker 1: it's like, you know, the iHeart family loves the Goldens
- 6:14Speaker 1: so much. I mean, we aren't doing events without a
- 6:16Speaker 1: bunch of Goldens because we love it. I think we
- 6:18Speaker 1: love the levity that it brings to these situations. We
- 6:21Speaker 1: love the fun.
- 6:23Speaker 2: You know.
- 6:24Speaker 1: It's it's also fun to, you know, get a bunch
- 6:27Speaker 1: of young people who don't know what the hell they're
- 6:28Speaker 1: talking about to talk to and then you can kind of, you.
- 6:31Speaker 2: Know, just make fun of them and enjoy yourself in
- 6:33Speaker 2: that regard.
- 6:33Speaker 1: But I think it's more fun to have some people
- 6:36Speaker 1: that you can connect with on a different level.
- 6:37Speaker 2: And I really enjoy that with you guys.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, thanks man, Yeah, it's pretty special. In fact,
- 6:43Speaker 3: it's been a year. Yeah. And so our guys had
- 6:47Speaker 3: an annual trip that we all put together on our
- 6:49Speaker 3: own and all the boys went to Vegas and it
- 6:53Speaker 3: was something this was Gonzo in Vegas, Gonzo in Vegas.
- 6:56Speaker 3: I wasn't there. I was there because I was on
- 6:59Speaker 3: a whole nother trip.
- 7:00Speaker 2: I would see Keith and Vegas would be I was on.
- 7:02Speaker 3: A whole nother trip. But the story, you know, what
- 7:04Speaker 3: happens in Vegas stays there.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Of course, of course, so I would think Keith would
- 7:09Speaker 2: need someone to rain him in like I'd almost hire
- 7:13Speaker 2: like a rodeo clown to follow him around just to
- 7:15Speaker 2: like keep things from going wrong, because he's a machine,
- 7:19Speaker 2: that good man.
- 7:20Speaker 3: He is a seen but you know he just likes
- 7:24Speaker 3: to have a great time. And that's the beauty of
- 7:26Speaker 3: that that man in his personality. Man, you just you
- 7:29Speaker 3: love having him around. Yeah, can.
- 7:31Speaker 1: My wife loves him so much, and she's always like,
- 7:33Speaker 1: what's it like looking at yourself in twenty years. I'm like, well,
- 7:38Speaker 1: if Keith were seventy four, that would be great. I
- 7:41Speaker 1: think Keith sixty, that's me in six years, and I
- 7:45Speaker 1: love it. So all right, let's talk about this. So
- 7:47Speaker 1: we're in Tahell right now for a pick a ball event.
- 7:49Speaker 1: I am not a big pickleball player until today. You
- 7:55Speaker 1: roll out with a fantastic outfit. You got your own
- 7:58Speaker 1: pickleball paddle. You come up there.
- 8:00Speaker 2: I mean you had gloves, you had gobbles, you had
- 8:04Speaker 2: like a neck roll. I'm like, what's that.
- 8:06Speaker 1: You're like, Oh, I know when I hit that ball, man,
- 8:08Speaker 1: I'm torquing that thing.
- 8:09Speaker 2: When I serve. I don't want my my neck to.
- 8:11Speaker 1: Go side with you and Kelly ben Simone, who I love,
- 8:15Speaker 1: get out, just start crushing it. I think you're a
- 8:21Speaker 1: bronze medalist, and then you took third today.
- 8:24Speaker 3: We came home with some iron. You came.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Well, let's show this. This is the iron we came
- 8:29Speaker 1: home with you. It's basically a glorified participation trophy. And
- 8:32Speaker 1: I believe it's plastic, but you It drinks the same.
- 8:35Speaker 2: And espresso here, but it's not going to weigh down
- 8:43Speaker 2: your bag like the iron.
- 8:44Speaker 1: But so I think the plastics better for us to
- 8:46Speaker 1: get through customs and and such.
- 8:48Speaker 2: But we're here. We're here here for the pickle ball event.
- 8:51Speaker 1: This has been so great and I think have you
- 8:54Speaker 1: ever thought of pickleball as a way to meet people, Like, hey,
- 8:58Speaker 1: let's get a little thing going and little, you know,
- 9:01Speaker 1: pinching giggle out there on the pickleball.
- 9:02Speaker 3: Of course, it's funny you should mention that meeting people
- 9:06Speaker 3: in Palm Desert. We play round robin Monday, Wednesday Friday
- 9:12Speaker 3: four hours.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Where everyone throws in a paddle and it's like, okay,
- 9:15Speaker 1: this is this is your paddle bill here.
- 9:17Speaker 3: Not quite like that, but not quite like that, but
- 9:27Speaker 3: not quite like that, not quite like that. But it's
- 9:31Speaker 3: it's kind of cool because it is the older folks
- 9:34Speaker 3: that are out there playing. We had some young folks
- 9:36Speaker 3: that come in and we show them a lesson or
- 9:38Speaker 3: two about what the game is all about. I don't
- 9:42Speaker 3: play Monday, Wednesday, Friday. I go usually on a Wednesday.
- 9:45Speaker 3: But it's kind of cool to go out and have
- 9:48Speaker 3: that camaraderie with everyone. He yeah, and a connection that
- 9:51Speaker 3: says we can still go and do.
- 9:53Speaker 2: This right, we can still do something athletic and we're
- 9:55Speaker 2: having fun.
- 9:56Speaker 1: I have to say this, so I have fun. Have
- 9:58Speaker 1: you seen the new show Stick with Owen Wilson.
- 10:01Speaker 3: I have not.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Oh my guys, anyone's seen it easton Monday. It's so good.
- 10:06Speaker 2: So it's on HBO or no, it's on Apple TV. Okay,
- 10:09Speaker 2: you need to watch it because it's actually it's a
- 10:10Speaker 2: really good show and it's like.
- 10:11Speaker 1: He's but it's not standard Owen Wilson fair right. But
- 10:15Speaker 1: in it they have this pickleball thing that goes down.
- 10:17Speaker 1: And I was watching it trying to prep myself for
- 10:19Speaker 1: this weekend because there's not many things out there that
- 10:21Speaker 1: you can find that will allow you to prep for
- 10:23Speaker 1: pickleball competitions, you know, Canyon, and I decided, I'm like,
- 10:27Speaker 1: let's get a couple of fights for no reason.
- 10:29Speaker 2: That's like I'm gonna yell at you. You yell at me,
- 10:30Speaker 2: I'm like, you shout at it.
- 10:31Speaker 1: She's like I'm a left day. I'm like, okay, let's
- 10:33Speaker 1: just let's just fake some fights so we're ready for
- 10:35Speaker 1: the court. Because but she's really good and she's very
- 10:37Speaker 1: aggressive as a lefty.
- 10:38Speaker 3: You know what, The ball takes a whole another, a
- 10:41Speaker 3: different flight, different flights as we were trying to play
- 10:43Speaker 3: that that's why you Yes, that's how we shut you down.
- 10:45Speaker 1: That's how the only way to shut you down. Having
- 10:47Speaker 1: Gary out there, he really did. Gary was scary on
- 10:49Speaker 1: the court. But yeah, no, it was very fun. But
- 10:51Speaker 1: I think pickleball could be a really cool way. Like
- 10:54Speaker 1: if you meet someone and you know that they're you know,
- 10:58Speaker 1: uh fit, Yes, right, but they don't have to be
- 11:01Speaker 1: that fit. I mean, I'm out of shape. I was
- 11:03Speaker 1: out there running around like a crazy person.
- 11:04Speaker 3: The beauty is that the court's smaller than a tennis court. Yeah,
- 11:08Speaker 3: you're playing with four people on the court. It's a
- 11:10Speaker 3: whiffle ball. It's not really like anything that's come out
- 11:14Speaker 3: it with too much heat. Yeah.
- 11:15Speaker 1: No, And so though Trista did Jack went into canyon today,
- 11:18Speaker 1: which I thought was really.
- 11:19Speaker 3: You can't get some heat on the ball.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Yeah, that was pretty nice. Definitely, Trista knew what she
- 11:22Speaker 2: was doing when she wanted the stageous event. Little did
- 11:25Speaker 2: we know she did played the game a lot.
- 11:27Speaker 3: She was unbelievable.
- 11:28Speaker 2: You think she hustled us.
- 11:29Speaker 3: I think she may have been like a shark guy.
- 11:31Speaker 2: She knew there was an iron a some trophy on
- 11:34Speaker 2: the place.
- 11:34Speaker 3: There was a big trophy on the line. Yeah, and
- 11:36Speaker 3: she took it home.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Well, I will say that spoiler alert. Gary and Kelly
- 11:41Speaker 1: came in third. Yes, the Guinea family came in second. Yes,
- 11:46Speaker 1: and Trista and Ryan Sutter nay Wren ended up bringing
- 11:50Speaker 1: home the bacon.
- 11:51Speaker 2: And uh, I don't know. I'm just gonna say it
- 11:53Speaker 2: out loud.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Uh If I put together a blackjack tournament for the
- 11:58Speaker 1: next one and I win the black jack tournament, shame
- 12:00Speaker 1: on me. Okay, I'm just saying I think Trista stacked
- 12:03Speaker 1: the deck in her favor. She knew She's the only
- 12:04Speaker 1: one that knew the roles.
- 12:05Speaker 2: We're in the middle of playing.
- 12:07Speaker 1: It's three three, and she's like, guys, are stef Yi,
- 12:09Speaker 1: and I love Tristan more than the life, so I
- 12:11Speaker 1: mean this is coming from a place of love.
- 12:14Speaker 2: That's the kitchen.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Okay, you don't go in the kitchen. You can't step
- 12:16Speaker 1: in the kitchen, but don't hit hit the ball into
- 12:18Speaker 1: the kitchen. You've done it twice and I've let it go.
- 12:20Speaker 1: So I'm just going to tell you for the next time,
- 12:21Speaker 1: I might have to score that against you. All of
- 12:24Speaker 1: a sudden, she's in my head.
- 12:25Speaker 3: Man.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Now I don't even know what I'm doing. I'm like,
- 12:26Speaker 1: why the hell is the kitchen now? I got to
- 12:28Speaker 1: identify a kitchen. I don't see a stove. I don't
- 12:30Speaker 1: see a refrigerator. Okay, so let's talk about Bachelor in Paradise,
- 12:33Speaker 1: because here was my concern about this, Okay. I was
- 12:37Speaker 1: terrified that my goldens were going to be used by
- 12:41Speaker 1: producers for horrible, horrible mischief. And I was like, this
- 12:45Speaker 1: is not right. I don't think I like this idea. Actually,
- 12:48Speaker 1: at first I love the idea until someone brought it
- 12:49Speaker 1: up to me. Then it was in my head like
- 12:50Speaker 1: a crazy man. First call, I made Gonzo Gonzo, don't
- 12:54Speaker 1: take de bait. I don't care what anybody says, if
- 12:56Speaker 1: they're like, hey, you should go over and talk to
- 12:57Speaker 1: a little Debbie over there in the corner while she's
- 12:59Speaker 1: crying in the hot stuff, don't do it. Don't take
- 13:02Speaker 1: her a cocktail and be like, how you doing, little Debbie.
- 13:04Speaker 2: Let's not do that.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Needless to say, I didn't have to worry about that,
- 13:07Speaker 1: right because my guys handled themselves. But I think it's
- 13:10Speaker 1: been pretty interesting on this season of Paradise.
- 13:12Speaker 2: It's the very first season.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Well, there's a lot of first's actually, whole new production,
- 13:17Speaker 1: whole new look. It kind of looks a lot of
- 13:19Speaker 1: people have been saying a lot more like love ya.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Producers, whole things, different tones, different attitudes, different.
- 13:27Speaker 3: Cinematography, the cameras they're using.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Yes, kind of neat, fabulous.
- 13:31Speaker 1: Wells and Hannah are playing a bigger role in the show,
- 13:34Speaker 1: which Hannah I haven't seen her say too much yet.
- 13:36Speaker 1: The handa is I'm sure going to have a bigger
- 13:38Speaker 1: role as this thing goes on. Yes, But I think
- 13:41Speaker 1: it's kind of neat because when they came to you
- 13:43Speaker 1: and said, you know, hey, would you be interested in
- 13:46Speaker 1: coming to Paris? Did they mention that it was going
- 13:48Speaker 1: to be like the standard paradise with the Goldens or
- 13:53Speaker 1: when they approached you, what did they disclose to you?
- 13:56Speaker 3: So it was disclosed that we'd like you to join
- 13:59Speaker 3: us in Costa Rica going paradise, because well, I don't
- 14:03Speaker 3: even think we knew it was going to be in
- 14:05Speaker 3: Coastrie at that point.
- 14:06Speaker 2: And did you know other Goldens were coming or did
- 14:08Speaker 2: you think.
- 14:09Speaker 3: I No one had been announced. Yeah, and they didn't
- 14:14Speaker 3: allow Leslie or I to know even if they had
- 14:16Speaker 3: someone in mind. But then the guy started talking and
- 14:21Speaker 3: we ultimately said, hey, what do you think I'm thinking
- 14:25Speaker 3: about this? I'm thinking about what and so we started talking. Yeah,
- 14:30Speaker 3: and then ultimately well you can see now on the
- 14:33Speaker 3: show who's come. Yeah, but it was it was a surprise,
- 14:38Speaker 3: I think to all of us said it was going
- 14:39Speaker 3: to be like it is.
- 14:42Speaker 1: Yeah, Well, well let's let's for anyone who might be
- 14:45Speaker 1: like me. I've I've sort of stacked the deck. I've
- 14:47Speaker 1: watched the first episode, the first two episodes, now I have
- 14:49Speaker 1: not I have not watched a second too. So the
- 14:51Speaker 1: Goldens arrive in episode four and Gary arrives on his
- 14:57Speaker 1: own with a little bit more like it was almost
- 15:00Speaker 1: like a big time wrestling entrance, like smoke, like all
- 15:03Speaker 1: sorts of stuff going on, Like you had the theme song?
- 15:05Speaker 1: What was your walk up song? And you come out
- 15:07Speaker 1: of nowhere? Well, the other goals are already there and
- 15:09Speaker 1: all of a sudden you come out. How is that
- 15:11Speaker 1: suggested to you?
- 15:12Speaker 2: And how did that the whole thing play out?
- 15:14Speaker 3: Well? Okay, So I came a day after everyone else
- 15:20Speaker 3: and I was still in seclusion. Yeah, so I was
- 15:22Speaker 3: going crazy. It's like, guys, you got to get me
- 15:24Speaker 3: out of here. Yeah. Everyone knows I'm going to be
- 15:26Speaker 3: on the show, right, but you can't keep me secluded
- 15:30Speaker 3: like this? So is it okay? If I go to
- 15:32Speaker 3: the pool?
- 15:33Speaker 2: Is fomo? Are you getting? Like? But like, what do
- 15:36Speaker 2: you feel? Are you feeling left out?
- 15:37Speaker 3: I feel like I'm starting to feel like things are
- 15:40Speaker 3: happening and I'm not there to enjoy it.
- 15:42Speaker 2: Yeah, And so were nervous at all.
- 15:45Speaker 3: I was starting to get a little anxious, not nervous,
- 15:49Speaker 3: just with like not knowing what to expect, right, because
- 15:53Speaker 3: my guys were already.
- 15:54Speaker 2: There, right, and you knew they were already there.
- 15:57Speaker 3: So they were there and they knew I was. We
- 16:01Speaker 3: just didn't know how it was gonna unfold. But then
- 16:05Speaker 3: when they said, we were making this big thing for
- 16:08Speaker 3: your entrance, Gary, and so then I started saying, okay,
- 16:11Speaker 3: now let's hear it, let me hear it. And then
- 16:15Speaker 3: they started explaining to me what it was going to be,
- 16:17Speaker 3: and I go, I can do that, Yeah, I can.
- 16:20Speaker 3: I think that's gonna be pretty awesome.
- 16:22Speaker 2: That's awesome.
- 16:23Speaker 3: And sure enough, you saw the entrance.
- 16:24Speaker 2: I have only seen the engines. I haven't seen the episode.
- 16:27Speaker 3: Okay, you've got you've got something I can't tell you,
- 16:30Speaker 3: but it's worth its weight in gold. That's you'll see, Bob, you'll.
- 16:34Speaker 1: It's so fun because you guys are so tight, right,
- 16:37Speaker 1: and it's like, did you did you experience? Obviously you
- 16:40Speaker 1: come in, you got your friends that the Goldens who
- 16:42Speaker 1: you've been doing a.
- 16:43Speaker 2: Bunch of stuff with.
- 16:44Speaker 1: Yeah, probably have met so I know you have met
- 16:46Speaker 1: some of the younger cast members on there, yes, and
- 16:50Speaker 1: uh so you got the familiarity with them, But who
- 16:53Speaker 1: did you create relationships with right away that were kind
- 16:58Speaker 1: of like, uh, you know, from from the the more
- 17:00Speaker 1: standard VIP experience, Like who did you kind of gravitate towards?
- 17:04Speaker 1: Was there anyone there that you felt like, Okay, I
- 17:05Speaker 1: like this person. I can be friends with this person, Jonathan. Yeah,
- 17:09Speaker 1: I had a feeling, you guys, and but Jonathan has
- 17:13Speaker 1: been on a couple of these experiences with us.
- 17:15Speaker 2: But you haven't met him, have you.
- 17:16Speaker 3: I met Jonathan at a get Reel, the get Real
- 17:20Speaker 3: party that Hulu did when they announced mel with the
- 17:23Speaker 3: Golden Bachelor, and I think I had met him once before.
- 17:29Speaker 3: I can't really remember, but you know, he's a super guy. Yeah,
- 17:33Speaker 3: and uh so him and I were already connected. Also
- 17:38Speaker 3: Hakeem yep, but by the time I got there, Kem
- 17:43Speaker 3: was gone, right, So it was really Jonathan and then
- 17:47Speaker 3: my other Golden guys. That was it.
- 17:49Speaker 2: Well, Jonathan seemed to warm up to a couple of Goldens,
- 17:51Speaker 2: didn't he.
- 17:52Speaker 3: Yes, he did. But I have to throw in Dale
- 17:56Speaker 3: Andrew was another good guy, Spencer as well.
- 18:01Speaker 2: Spencer seemed intense to me up until like he seems
- 18:03Speaker 2: like an intense dude.
- 18:04Speaker 3: He really was a very gentle, giant guy. Yeah.
- 18:11Speaker 1: So, what were your thoughts on the April Jonathan moment,
- 18:19Speaker 1: Because I had.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Heard some rumors, but that was a little fiery.
- 18:23Speaker 3: It was not just fiery, it was a total shock
- 18:29Speaker 3: that took everyone by surprise. I don't think anybody knew
- 18:34Speaker 3: April was going to do that, and in particular my
- 18:38Speaker 3: good buddy Jack. It's a beautiful thing.
- 18:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:41Speaker 3: Yeah, he was so floored because he thought that there
- 18:47Speaker 3: was a connection there. Yeah. But yeah, that was a
- 18:52Speaker 3: real shock or it came out of nowhere. She handled
- 18:56Speaker 3: it well, she said some amazing things about Jonathan, but
- 19:00Speaker 3: it completely threw off the numbers.
- 19:03Speaker 2: I was gonna say. Yeah, it basically eliminated three three
- 19:06Speaker 2: golden goldens, which left six women and three men. Yeah,
- 19:12Speaker 2: and so it was yeah, it was that was that
- 19:17Speaker 2: was a shocker.
- 19:17Speaker 1: That was like, I don't think it didn't seem like
- 19:20Speaker 1: the producers or anybody was ready for that.
- 19:21Speaker 2: Nobody. Jesse stood there with his mouth over, did you really?
- 19:25Speaker 2: Just almost seems stage? But you know what I knew
- 19:28Speaker 2: it wasn't.
- 19:29Speaker 3: Yeah, it was a shocker man.
- 19:30Speaker 1: All Right, Well, thank you so much for talking to
- 19:32Speaker 1: us about that, because I love it.
- 19:33Speaker 2: I think very excited. I know, I know people are
- 19:36Speaker 2: loving the show this year, people are loving VIP and
- 19:38Speaker 2: I think I really liked oh what's oh my gosh,
- 19:42Speaker 2: the VIP VIP hat she had on out there, Leslie.
- 19:45Speaker 2: I loved your hat. Yeah, yes, yeah, that was pretty good.
- 19:47Speaker 2: She's a pretty good pickupball player too, all right, and
- 19:50Speaker 2: a great dancer? Is that right?
- 19:52Speaker 3: Keep watching?
- 19:54Speaker 2: Watch and the two of you had a chance to
- 19:56Speaker 2: love the dance.
- 19:56Speaker 1: Okay, I will watch, I will watch. I take your
- 19:58Speaker 1: advice seriously, my friend. All right, so I want to
- 20:01Speaker 1: go to Well, there's not much that doesn't I don't
- 20:05Speaker 1: know if you know, it takes a lot to piss
- 20:07Speaker 1: me off. My luggage is pissing me off. Still not here,
- 20:10Speaker 1: by the way, thanks Delta if you're watching it home.
- 20:23Speaker 1: So let's talk twenty one questions. Okay, we're gonna play
- 20:27Speaker 1: a little game. It's called twenty one questions. It's I
- 20:29Speaker 1: Do Part two. That's what the show is about.
- 20:32Speaker 2: You and I have both had relationships prior to.
- 20:35Speaker 1: Any that we may have currently. Yes, do you want
- 20:39Speaker 1: to talk about any that you have currently? Anything you
- 20:41Speaker 1: want to share?
- 20:43Speaker 2: I mean, everybody knows I got Canyon, right, so I
- 20:45Speaker 2: got nothing to share.
- 20:46Speaker 3: Maybe let's just let's see where that goes. Let's we're going.
- 20:52Speaker 2: Breaking news that I Do Part two. All Right, here
- 20:54Speaker 2: we go. I'm gonna ask you some questions. I want
- 20:57Speaker 2: your opinions. I may or may not time in because
- 21:01Speaker 2: I want to keep this on point for I do
- 21:04Speaker 2: part two because that is my job is to steer
- 21:06Speaker 2: this ship to the exact location we needed today.
- 21:10Speaker 3: Take us home.
- 21:10Speaker 2: Here we go, baby number one. Okay, if you ask
- 21:13Speaker 2: a woman on a date, first date, is it ever
- 21:19Speaker 2: acceptable to split the bill?
- 21:20Speaker 3: No?
- 21:21Speaker 2: Agreed?
- 21:23Speaker 1: If a woman asks you on a first date, is
- 21:26Speaker 1: it ever okay to allow her to pay?
- 21:29Speaker 3: Absolutely?
- 21:30Speaker 2: I think you're absolutely right on that.
- 21:32Speaker 1: I think I would still fight to act. Yeah, but
- 21:36Speaker 1: she asked me, Yeah, I would. I let kingyon.
- 21:39Speaker 2: Uh. We were when we were dating.
- 21:41Speaker 1: She asked me on a date, which I was like,
- 21:43Speaker 1: really okay, and she paid for the whole thing, and
- 21:45Speaker 1: I was like feeling guilt the whole night, but it
- 21:48Speaker 1: was it was kind of awesome. I was I'm always
- 21:51Speaker 1: the person that pays. Yeah, you know, like she'llowed me
- 21:53Speaker 1: to say, like someone, go.
- 21:54Speaker 2: Do you where's your wallet? She goes, She'll go, he's
- 21:56Speaker 2: over there, and she'll play. You know.
- 21:57Speaker 3: It's an interesting point though, because we as men men, yes,
- 22:02Speaker 3: and our era of where we always take care of things,
- 22:09Speaker 3: so it's flattering when someone else does it. It's surprising,
- 22:14Speaker 3: and it's also a sign of Wow, this could go someplace. Yeah,
- 22:18Speaker 3: it's not always dependent on me. This person is making
- 22:22Speaker 3: an effort to show me that I'm you don't always
- 22:26Speaker 3: have to do this.
- 22:27Speaker 1: Yeah, so you know it's so interesting. For some reason,
- 22:29Speaker 1: when you were saying that, it triggered something for me.
- 22:32Speaker 1: One of the things I always think is interesting is
- 22:34Speaker 1: I think I'm doing a favor when.
- 22:37Speaker 2: Someone says, what do you want to do tonight, and
- 22:38Speaker 2: I'll say, whatever you want to do? Where would you
- 22:40Speaker 2: like to go to for a dinner? Wherever you want
- 22:42Speaker 2: to go. I don't know why.
- 22:44Speaker 1: I think I'm being easy, right, but how flattering it
- 22:47Speaker 1: is when someone will say, hey, tonight, we're gonna go
- 22:48Speaker 1: to Mexican because I know that's your favorite, and then
- 22:51Speaker 1: afterwards we're gonna go play pickleball or go through some
- 22:54Speaker 1: darts or whatever. And you're like, okay, because it's so
- 22:57Speaker 1: neat to not have to think of what do and
- 23:00Speaker 1: it's it's really fun to have someone planned for you.
- 23:02Speaker 1: Yet and I and I've realized that maybe that's a
- 23:04Speaker 1: shortcoming for me. I don't know why this just triggered
- 23:07Speaker 1: that way, but I need.
- 23:07Speaker 2: To plant let it go. Should I let it go
- 23:10Speaker 2: let it go now? Yes, okay. Number two.
- 23:14Speaker 1: If a man does not finalize date plans or checking
- 23:16Speaker 1: ahead of a scheduled date the morning of, does this
- 23:19Speaker 1: mean he's busy or that he's not interested.
- 23:22Speaker 3: Oh that's a tough one.
- 23:24Speaker 2: So let's set the stage.
- 23:25Speaker 1: You got a date set up and tonight you're gonna
- 23:28Speaker 1: pick her up at five, but you don't call all day,
- 23:32Speaker 1: you don't reach out, You're just like, hey, I'm picking
- 23:34Speaker 1: her up Thursday at five. Does that mean is she
- 23:36Speaker 1: supposed to think you're coming at five? Or is she
- 23:39Speaker 1: supposed to think this dude is ghosting me?
- 23:42Speaker 3: You know, if there is an interest in that relationship,
- 23:50Speaker 3: if you're trying to make it happen, you're gonna call before. Yeah,
- 23:54Speaker 3: you're gonna call before. If you don't, then.
- 23:57Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it's just and you're like, go, I'll do
- 24:00Speaker 2: it be there right.
- 24:01Speaker 3: Well, then, I mean it's someone that's not important to you.
- 24:05Speaker 3: Out of respect, here's what's happening looking forward to Yeah, totally, totally,
- 24:11Speaker 3: with all due respect.
- 24:12Speaker 2: I totally agree with you. Yeah, yeah, all right.
- 24:14Speaker 1: How long should you be dating someone? To bring up
- 24:16Speaker 1: the topic of money, debt or credit scores?
- 24:24Speaker 3: I would think maybe if it's a serious relationship, it
- 24:28Speaker 3: should happen within the first couple three months.
- 24:31Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, and to what level does that go? Because
- 24:34Speaker 1: I have a funny story to share about this.
- 24:36Speaker 3: And the level you know, you got to fill that
- 24:39Speaker 3: one out because at my age, yeah, you don't have
- 24:43Speaker 3: a lot of time to say, I'm gonna let this
- 24:46Speaker 3: play out. You want to know sooner than later. So
- 24:50Speaker 3: it just it just depends. Oh my gosh, that's a
- 24:54Speaker 3: great question. That's a great question.
- 24:56Speaker 1: When I was working on these questions, I was laughing
- 25:01Speaker 1: over that when I was really brainstorming about these questions,
- 25:04Speaker 1: and I thought, what can I ask her? When I
- 25:07Speaker 1: thought of this one, I really knew I had a winner.
- 25:09Speaker 1: So here's thank you, Heather for these wonderful questions. The
- 25:12Speaker 1: best producer in the business that question. So I will
- 25:16Speaker 1: tell you. So when Canyon and I got married, Yeah,
- 25:19Speaker 1: it was. It was one of her family's favorite things
- 25:20Speaker 1: I did. They show up and they're like, hey, we're
- 25:22Speaker 1: going to be here for the weekend or whatever, and
- 25:24Speaker 1: her mom's like, well, I got a few things for you.
- 25:26Speaker 2: I'm like, okay, what do you got? Well, here is
- 25:29Speaker 2: Jessica's cell phone, Bill. Here is Jessica's triple A card.
- 25:35Speaker 2: Here is Jessica, and she's giving me like twenty I'm like,
- 25:37Speaker 2: what in the world now?
- 25:38Speaker 1: None of them were hefty tabs by any means, but
- 25:41Speaker 1: it was comical. She's like, she's your problem now, and
- 25:44Speaker 1: it was very funny like it was. It was a
- 25:45Speaker 1: tongue in cheek because you know, one thing about Canyon
- 25:48Speaker 1: I love is, you know, since we've had children, she's
- 25:50Speaker 1: to stay at home mom, but she's always been such
- 25:52Speaker 1: an earner, right, and she's she's out there busting her button.
- 25:55Speaker 1: And I love that she had her own career and
- 25:57Speaker 1: her own design on things, and and I really.
- 26:00Speaker 2: Love that about her. And I also love that she's
- 26:03Speaker 2: been willing to kind of take a back seat to
- 26:06Speaker 2: help raise our family. But I know how excited she
- 26:10Speaker 2: has to get back out there, right, and it's and
- 26:11Speaker 2: exciting for her.
- 26:12Speaker 3: So I get to tell you, yeah, that's a blessing,
- 26:15Speaker 3: oh big time. You understand that, a big time. It's
- 26:19Speaker 3: a rarity. Yeah that's a gym, not even a diamond
- 26:24Speaker 3: of the rough.
- 26:25Speaker 2: That is, it's the next level stuff. But what's funny
- 26:28Speaker 2: is I didn't even I didn't ask that I was like, well,
- 26:31Speaker 2: you we can get it. Like we tried to get
- 26:33Speaker 2: a nanny and a parrot.
- 26:34Speaker 1: We tried to do everything, and it was one of
- 26:37Speaker 1: those things where it was like, this was something that
- 26:38Speaker 1: was important to her and I and I really value
- 26:40Speaker 1: that and respect that.
- 26:41Speaker 2: But yeah, I think I think you're right.
- 26:43Speaker 1: I think there if the things are starting to feel serious,
- 26:46Speaker 1: you got to kind of figure that out early and
- 26:49Speaker 1: then and then to follow up on that. And when
- 26:51Speaker 1: I was really grinding on these questions, this is one
- 26:53Speaker 1: that really stuck out with me. If someone does have
- 26:56Speaker 1: a lot of debt, is that a red flag? Right,
- 26:59Speaker 1: that's a red Flagg's a red flag.
- 27:02Speaker 2: Is what you're gonna do?
- 27:02Speaker 3: But you know what's interesting.
- 27:05Speaker 1: If you, well, circumstances might dictate that, right, someone who
- 27:10Speaker 1: put themselves through school, somebody did a whole bunch of
- 27:12Speaker 1: stuff that kind of debt. You're like, well, good for you, Yeah,
- 27:15Speaker 1: credit card debt or or or things that they just
- 27:17Speaker 1: aren't paying on. Then you're like, what's up with this person?
- 27:19Speaker 3: That's yeah, that's not right.
- 27:22Speaker 2: No, I agree, So.
- 27:22Speaker 3: It just depends.
- 27:23Speaker 1: And again you and I both being having been through
- 27:26Speaker 1: a marriage previously, and now you know you're at a
- 27:28Speaker 1: different stage in your life at this point. You're like,
- 27:30Speaker 1: I don't know what I want to take on. Do
- 27:32Speaker 1: I want to take on someone else's baggage from the
- 27:34Speaker 1: standpoint of years and years of credit card abuse and
- 27:39Speaker 1: things like that?
- 27:39Speaker 2: And I don't know if that's the right term, but
- 27:41Speaker 2: you know it is.
- 27:41Speaker 3: I mean, and that's a that's a real thing. It's
- 27:43Speaker 3: a real thing. And so you know, is it a
- 27:46Speaker 3: red flag or is it a yellow flag? Caution? How
- 27:49Speaker 3: much do I really like the character of this person?
- 27:52Speaker 3: How much we really genuinely equally yoked, how much are
- 27:55Speaker 3: we really genuinely in love with each other? And the
- 27:59Speaker 3: whole thing that comes with she's showing me what I need.
- 28:03Speaker 1: Yeah, well, and that's a vulnerability too, right, if someone's
- 28:06Speaker 1: willing to share with you. Hey man, I had some
- 28:08Speaker 1: issues for a couple of years financially, but I'm handling it,
- 28:12Speaker 1: I think.
- 28:12Speaker 2: I think.
- 28:13Speaker 1: Then you're like, that wouldn't be a red flag to me,
- 28:15Speaker 1: that would be something I think that would be almost
- 28:16Speaker 1: like a show of character. Yes, Like everyone goes through
- 28:20Speaker 1: tough times, and how you rebound and how you how
- 28:23Speaker 1: you handle those situations, I think shows who you are.
- 28:25Speaker 3: It's it's part of your testimony, it's part of your history,
- 28:28Speaker 3: it's part of what got you to be where you're at. Yeah, totally.
- 28:31Speaker 3: But if you can be honest and upright, up up
- 28:34Speaker 3: front and forthright, that says something. Also, Yeah, I'm great.
- 28:38Speaker 3: I don't want to hide this from you. I'm just
- 28:40Speaker 3: going to I gotta let you know about this.
- 28:43Speaker 1: Yeah, this is something I think is interesting. All right,
- 28:47Speaker 1: if you're dating someone for let's say six months, okay,
- 28:50Speaker 1: excuse me, and their children don't get along with you,
- 28:54Speaker 1: and the children are older, right, you're.
- 28:57Speaker 2: Not my dad. That kind of stuff, right, I mean
- 28:59Speaker 2: you see in movies all the time.
- 29:00Speaker 3: Run Yeah.
- 29:01Speaker 2: Okay. So the rest of this question.
- 29:03Speaker 1: Is how is there a sign of relationship won't work
- 29:07Speaker 1: out long term? I think absolutely that's not gonna work. Yeah,
- 29:11Speaker 1: because no one is going to choose. No one's gonna choose.
- 29:14Speaker 1: I mean, family is always a big part.
- 29:15Speaker 2: Of every relationship. Yeah, no one's gonna well, well, no
- 29:21Speaker 2: one who you want to be with is gonna let
- 29:24Speaker 2: their son go and be like, no, I want to
- 29:26Speaker 2: be with you, because I'd be like, what the hell
- 29:28Speaker 2: does that say about you?
- 29:29Speaker 3: Yeah? Yeah, exactly.
- 29:30Speaker 1: I had I had a situation at one point where
- 29:32Speaker 1: a woman that I knew was upset about a guy
- 29:36Speaker 1: that she was dating because he always put his kids
- 29:39Speaker 1: from his previous marriage first. And I remember saying, I
- 29:43Speaker 1: was like, do me a favor. Don't ever say that
- 29:46Speaker 1: to anyone ever again.
- 29:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:47Speaker 2: She's like going, man like, that's what a man is
- 29:49Speaker 2: supposed to do. So you found a guy in Hollywood
- 29:53Speaker 2: of all places who's going to put his family first.
- 29:56Speaker 2: Celebrate that man, because most do. It'll be like, oh
- 30:01Speaker 2: you know I yeah, yeah, I'll handcele plans with my kids.
- 30:06Speaker 2: Hell no, man, I would never do it. I'd just
- 30:08Speaker 2: be like, no, I have already got plans. If that
- 30:10Speaker 2: doesn't work for you, then we just don't work.
- 30:12Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly. You know I couldn't agree with you. More family,
- 30:16Speaker 3: especially your children, that's our future. It's just a matter
- 30:21Speaker 3: of time before they grow up and grow out and
- 30:23Speaker 3: get away. So you know, invest in that in those
- 30:29Speaker 3: boys and girls, because ultimately that's what's going to come
- 30:33Speaker 3: back and take care of you later in life. Yeah.
- 30:35Speaker 2: I means so true.
- 30:36Speaker 3: Right.
- 30:37Speaker 2: Do you think people can have different religious beliefs and
- 30:39Speaker 2: have a successful relationship.
- 30:40Speaker 3: I do. I do. It's you know, are they equally
- 30:47Speaker 3: yoked yet? Do they both believe in a God? Yes,
- 30:52Speaker 3: it's not the same, right, but I think it's possible. Sure,
- 30:58Speaker 3: I think it's possible.
- 30:59Speaker 1: Well, I mean, I dated someone I'm I don't know
- 31:02Speaker 1: what I am, to be honest. I think I was
- 31:05Speaker 1: raised Methodist or Baptist, but I think I'm Protestant, right, Yes,
- 31:09Speaker 1: And I dated someone who was Jewish, yes, for a
- 31:11Speaker 1: very long time.
- 31:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:12Speaker 1: And I loved being a part of her cultures and
- 31:16Speaker 1: her experiences and her religious traditions that I had no
- 31:19Speaker 1: clue of.
- 31:20Speaker 3: Old Testament New Testament.
- 31:22Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, yeah, there you go, right, it's yeah, and
- 31:25Speaker 1: the New Testament is much more open.
- 31:29Speaker 2: Yes, right, yes, but yeah, I enjoyed, I actually enjoyed
- 31:32Speaker 2: having the different cultural experiences and the different religious experiences,
- 31:36Speaker 2: and I learned a lot from that, you know.
- 31:37Speaker 1: And it was a fun relationship. Yeah, and yeah, so
- 31:40Speaker 1: that was kind of neat. So I am someone who
- 31:42Speaker 1: believes that can work.
- 31:44Speaker 3: You just have to pour into each other. Yeah, that's all.
- 31:48Speaker 2: So we're at number ten, are you ready?
- 31:49Speaker 1: Okay, what's a small thing people tend to overlook, but
- 31:53Speaker 1: in reality, is a huge sign a relationship isn't good.
- 31:58Speaker 3: It's a huge but a huge sign to small.
- 32:00Speaker 1: Thing people tend to overlook, but in reality, is a
- 32:04Speaker 1: huge sign a relationship isn't good.
- 32:08Speaker 3: What are you?
- 32:09Speaker 2: This is like that's you don't understand? How many years
- 32:12Speaker 2: are scrolling? I went to these questions. I think it's important.
- 32:18Speaker 3: And here's a small thing that could be a big thing,
- 32:21Speaker 3: public displays of affection. Someone that doesn't like public displays
- 32:28Speaker 3: of affection. But your love language is touchy and you
- 32:35Speaker 3: like holding hands and the person doesn't realize the impact
- 32:40Speaker 3: that that has on your emotional state. That could lead
- 32:46Speaker 3: to you not liking that person anymore, because it's almost
- 32:50Speaker 3: as if they don't want anyone to know that you're together. Yeah,
- 32:55Speaker 3: if you're dating, Yeah, that's not a good sign.
- 32:58Speaker 2: That's true.
- 32:59Speaker 3: And I guess so. I think public displays of affection
- 33:02Speaker 3: are important. That you can't be afraid of to kiss
- 33:07Speaker 3: someone in front of other people if you really care
- 33:10Speaker 3: about the person. Holding hands is another big one. Hugging
- 33:14Speaker 3: is another big one. So I think that's huge.
- 33:19Speaker 1: Sure, because you seem like an affectionate guy, I would
- 33:22Speaker 1: guess you're an affectionate guy. I am, I am so,
- 33:24Speaker 1: I'm an affectionate guy too, and I'm married to someone
- 33:26Speaker 1: who's not as affectionate as me. Right, And it's kind
- 33:29Speaker 1: of funny because her idea of like cuddling at night
- 33:31Speaker 1: will show go, She'll put her leg on me, go
- 33:33Speaker 1: there we're cuddling. It's funny, right, But but I actually
- 33:37Speaker 1: kind of love our differences in that regard because when
- 33:40Speaker 1: I actually can crack the code and get her to
- 33:42Speaker 1: actually the affectionate with me, I'm like, yeah, I want.
- 33:45Speaker 3: It's a good fun thing. Yeah.
- 33:48Speaker 2: Yeah, what I'm saying, I tell you, you know, it's a
- 33:51Speaker 2: small thing, but it's a big it's a big yeah.
- 33:54Speaker 2: Its so you got to know when to like from
- 33:57Speaker 2: from her perspective. I always I will always say this.
- 33:59Speaker 1: I'll be like, hey, man, once in a while, you
- 34:01Speaker 1: need to actually show me some show show me some love.
- 34:04Speaker 3: All right.
- 34:05Speaker 1: What's one thing you think men at fifty plus, which
- 34:08Speaker 1: we both are, need to lighten up on when it
- 34:11Speaker 1: comes to dating. So, what's when you're talking to your buddies,
- 34:15Speaker 1: you're talking to the mansion men, you're talking to the
- 34:16Speaker 1: crew that you know, your buddies from home, and they're like,
- 34:20Speaker 1: this is this is a deal breaker for me right,
- 34:23Speaker 1: and you're like, man, that just seems why is that
- 34:25Speaker 1: a deal breaker? What do you hear from your friends
- 34:28Speaker 1: and from your from your boys that that you think
- 34:30Speaker 1: is a little ridiculous.
- 34:33Speaker 3: Just realizing that you're not gonna win every battle. Yeah,
- 34:38Speaker 3: and some things you just have to let go of.
- 34:42Speaker 3: I don't care how big or how small it is.
- 34:45Speaker 3: Just let them have some victories. Yeah, it doesn't matter
- 34:49Speaker 3: what it.
- 34:50Speaker 1: Is, because we get so stubborn at a certain like
- 34:52Speaker 1: we I've been on my own for.
- 34:56Speaker 2: Tell me where to park.
- 34:57Speaker 3: And it's not speaking from experience either.
- 35:01Speaker 2: I have my favorite things. A kid, I'll go. You know,
- 35:03Speaker 2: it's so weird. Before I met you, I was single
- 35:06Speaker 2: for twelve years.
- 35:07Speaker 3: Do you know?
- 35:07Speaker 1: I knew how to park every car and no one
- 35:11Speaker 1: was scared when someone hit the brakes six hundred yards
- 35:15Speaker 1: ahead of me.
- 35:20Speaker 2: And I love this woman, but oh my god, Am
- 35:25Speaker 2: I right?
- 35:25Speaker 3: I know the feeling totally yet it so yeah, No,
- 35:31Speaker 3: I'm right there with you.
- 35:32Speaker 1: But you know, you think, get fifty plus, a lot
- 35:34Speaker 1: of guys are like just trying to win every bat.
- 35:35Speaker 3: Yeah, They're trying to win every battle, and it's like, man,
- 35:38Speaker 3: you gotta let that go. Just that's not important. Yeah,
- 35:41Speaker 3: it really isn't not in the big scheme of things.
- 35:44Speaker 1: How about conversely for women fifty plus, Like you're out
- 35:46Speaker 1: there in the dating world, you hear it, what are
- 35:48Speaker 1: women in your opinion?
- 35:50Speaker 2: And I get it that's.
- 35:51Speaker 1: Gonna be a generalization, but yeah, what in your experiences,
- 35:55Speaker 1: what have you seen that women are really?
- 35:57Speaker 3: This is it?
- 35:58Speaker 2: This is a deal breaker for me. And you're just like, why.
- 36:02Speaker 3: I think the some women these days who are very independent,
- 36:09Speaker 3: they they want to take the lead, but they don't
- 36:13Speaker 3: know how to acquiesce and give and give you even
- 36:18Speaker 3: in dancing, it's like you know there there's a leader
- 36:22Speaker 3: and a follower in dancing right.
- 36:24Speaker 2: Well, and you're a really good dancer, so you know
- 36:26Speaker 2: that better than most. He should lead.
- 36:28Speaker 3: If I'm leading, it's gonna be like two left feet out.
- 36:32Speaker 2: And now all of a sudden we're both like, I'm
- 36:34Speaker 2: gonna spend and.
- 36:36Speaker 3: Nothing against strong, independent women who are successful in their
- 36:41Speaker 3: careers and doing all the things. But you've got to
- 36:45Speaker 3: acquiesce and let the man do what he does, opening
- 36:49Speaker 3: the door.
- 36:51Speaker 2: Just little things, So don't get offended by chivalrous or
- 36:54Speaker 2: gentlemanly behavior. Amen, Yes, yes, yeah, I think that's I
- 36:58Speaker 2: think that's a really good point too.
- 37:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 37:00Speaker 1: So when you're dating and you go on a first day,
- 37:04Speaker 1: what are three things that you think you should know
- 37:06Speaker 1: about that person after that first date?
- 37:09Speaker 2: Top three things?
- 37:10Speaker 3: The top three things I want to know. First of
- 37:13Speaker 3: all is are you a godly woman? Do you believe
- 37:18Speaker 3: in you're religion as a spiritual person? Yeah, that's that's
- 37:23Speaker 3: I think something very important. And you can't be afraid
- 37:26Speaker 3: to ask that question, right, because.
- 37:28Speaker 1: Well, it has become kind of a taboo topic. It
- 37:30Speaker 1: seems right like people are afraid to ask that question,
- 37:32Speaker 1: right exactly.
- 37:33Speaker 3: So that's one. I think. The second thing is things
- 37:38Speaker 3: that they enjoy doing extracurricular activities. I want to know
- 37:43Speaker 3: something for the next time I plan a date. Hey,
- 37:47Speaker 3: let's go for a hike.
- 37:48Speaker 2: I know you like to You said you like hiking,
- 37:50Speaker 2: and yeah, that kind of thing, right.
- 37:52Speaker 3: And then the third thing I think would be is God,
- 37:56Speaker 3: there's so many things going through my mind. Now do
- 37:59Speaker 3: you like to travel? Do you like to? So I
- 38:02Speaker 3: can really look forward to planning another outing or another.
- 38:06Speaker 2: Date, or to see if you have enough in common
- 38:08Speaker 2: then another date makes sense. Yeah, right, exactly. So if
- 38:10Speaker 2: you're a big travel guy and they're like, nope, I
- 38:12Speaker 2: like to be on the couch.
- 38:13Speaker 1: Yeah, and I'm not going anywhere, Like Okay, this is
- 38:16Speaker 1: not the right.
- 38:16Speaker 2: Person for me.
- 38:17Speaker 3: Flag.
- 38:17Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a right. Flag, that's a that'll be another date.
- 38:21Speaker 2: So intimacy, yeah.
- 38:22Speaker 1: Right, everybody always this is kind of the hot button topic,
- 38:25Speaker 1: right it seems anyway, especially with like Tender and all
- 38:28Speaker 1: the different dating apps out there. You know, if you're
- 38:32Speaker 1: intimate with someone on the first night, do you think,
- 38:37Speaker 1: generally speaking, do men still want to date that woman
- 38:41Speaker 1: if they hooked up in the biblical sense on the
- 38:46Speaker 1: first night.
- 38:47Speaker 3: No?
- 38:47Speaker 2: Really, Wow, I love that you're being honest right now.
- 38:50Speaker 1: Not for me? Yeah, okay, do you go through with
- 38:53Speaker 1: the with the intimacy on the biblical.
- 38:55Speaker 3: Sense on the first night?
- 38:58Speaker 2: No?
- 38:58Speaker 1: No, okay, okay, now, because if you said yes, I
- 39:02Speaker 1: was gonna be like hippocrite.
- 39:03Speaker 2: Okay, So let's say this.
- 39:05Speaker 1: So if someone's basically because it was like Gary, let's
- 39:08Speaker 1: go upstairs, and you're like.
- 39:10Speaker 2: No, that's not that's not no, nope, yeah, that's not
- 39:13Speaker 2: gonna happen. But you're you're also like, and she's not
- 39:16Speaker 2: right for me, I'm not going.
- 39:17Speaker 3: Right, you know. I I want someone who respects me
- 39:21Speaker 3: as a person. I'm not just some physical being that's
- 39:25Speaker 3: just trying to me.
- 39:26Speaker 2: You're not walking around like it. No USD choice.
- 39:29Speaker 3: Also looking at you with all due respect the same way.
- 39:32Speaker 3: I want to be able to look forward to this
- 39:36Speaker 3: gift that's been given to me, but over a period
- 39:41Speaker 3: of time, and we're both gonna have to earn the
- 39:42Speaker 3: respect of each other as well as the opportunity to
- 39:48Speaker 3: love each other. As my body is a temple, but
- 39:54Speaker 3: so is yours. But that doesn't mean that I'm any
- 39:57Speaker 3: less than just because I'm a god young man.
- 40:00Speaker 2: I was gonna I want to.
- 40:03Speaker 3: Those days are way back there. They're way back there.
- 40:08Speaker 2: I get it. I hear you, buddy. I love that.
- 40:20Speaker 2: All right.
- 40:21Speaker 3: Yeah, there's more.
- 40:23Speaker 2: I got more.
- 40:23Speaker 1: I've still got like forty six questions left on our
- 40:27Speaker 1: top twenty one questions. Now, I'm just kidding, all right.
- 40:30Speaker 1: Long distance relationships. You've been in one before, right, I'm
- 40:32Speaker 1: sure you have.
- 40:36Speaker 3: They don't work?
- 40:36Speaker 2: They right, Okay, they don't work.
- 40:38Speaker 3: Yeah, they don't work. I've tried, and it's just not possible. Yeah,
- 40:44Speaker 3: not for me. Yeah, I want someone who's going to
- 40:47Speaker 3: be around close by, who is pouring into me as
- 40:52Speaker 3: I'm able to pour into them, right, and with technology
- 40:55Speaker 3: and the FaceTime and all that, it's just to crutch
- 41:00Speaker 3: it really is.
- 41:01Speaker 1: I can say this as someone who lived it. Yeah,
- 41:04Speaker 1: it really opposite coasts is a very difficult thing to do.
- 41:07Speaker 1: Now done that doesn't expensive, and yeah, very expensive, But
- 41:10Speaker 1: there's different ways to be long distance. But if there's
- 41:11Speaker 1: a time change involved, for me, it's not going to
- 41:15Speaker 1: work because it becomes a struggle to stay involved in
- 41:21Speaker 1: each other's life totally and to be and to be
- 41:23Speaker 1: a resource for that person, which is why you're in
- 41:25Speaker 1: a relationship.
- 41:25Speaker 3: Right.
- 41:26Speaker 1: If the plan of me being in a relationship is
- 41:27Speaker 1: for me to share my life with someone, me getting
- 41:29Speaker 1: the cliff notes at the end of the night, right
- 41:32Speaker 1: before you're going to bed, that's not sharing.
- 41:34Speaker 2: Yeah, that's me just.
- 41:35Speaker 1: Getting you know, somebody just kind of filling me in
- 41:37Speaker 1: another day. I could do that with no offense. I
- 41:39Speaker 1: could do that with you and and I don't need
- 41:40Speaker 1: to be sleeping with you.
- 41:40Speaker 3: Yeah, it's not going to work. No, it's just it's
- 41:43Speaker 3: something about being present, yeah, or in the neighborhood or
- 41:48Speaker 3: nearby close enough to where we can drive to each other.
- 41:51Speaker 2: Yeah, right, we can get over there.
- 41:53Speaker 1: We can spend time together, touch each other, hang out.
- 41:55Speaker 1: Doesn't need to be sexual every time, it do whatever
- 41:57Speaker 1: it is right now?
- 41:58Speaker 2: I love that. Okay.
- 42:00Speaker 1: If you're in a relationship with someone, do you consider
- 42:02Speaker 1: any of the following cheating? Going to strip club yes,
- 42:06Speaker 1: watching porn yes, having a subscription to OnlyFans no. Come on,
- 42:12Speaker 1: wait a minute, Okay, I'm supposed to make this fast.
- 42:15Speaker 2: You just derailed the whole train. How is that one not?
- 42:20Speaker 3: Oh? For God's sake?
- 42:24Speaker 2: Yes, okay, all right.
- 42:26Speaker 1: When you're in a serious relationship or marriage, is it
- 42:28Speaker 1: okay to be friends with an ex if you had
- 42:30Speaker 1: no children together?
- 42:32Speaker 3: Yes? Why your friends?
- 42:35Speaker 1: Right?
- 42:36Speaker 3: Mhm. But it depends if your partner thinks that's not good,
- 42:41Speaker 3: you gotta be ready to say yeah, we're yeah, agree. Agree.
- 42:46Speaker 2: What do you think of couples who divorce and then
- 42:48Speaker 2: remarry each By the way.
- 42:49Speaker 3: That last question, it took me some time to grow
- 42:51Speaker 3: into that, because once a relationship was over, it was over.
- 42:55Speaker 2: You were done.
- 42:56Speaker 3: See why the train is leaving the station. But I've
- 43:01Speaker 3: seen how people have grown back together.
- 43:06Speaker 2: Just and I have a different capacity.
- 43:09Speaker 3: Yeah, And I've always said, how is that? How is
- 43:12Speaker 3: that possible? Yeah? But my ex and I, my ex wife,
- 43:16Speaker 3: and my grandson now have brought us all closer together
- 43:20Speaker 3: as yeah, of course.
- 43:21Speaker 1: So yeah, So I'm I'm still friendly with my ax
- 43:24Speaker 1: and and it's cool with Canyon, so that makes it cool.
- 43:27Speaker 2: If she wasn't cool with it, I wouldn't Ben't you
- 43:30Speaker 2: know how to respect for our marriage and our relationship? Sorry,
- 43:33Speaker 2: I love it.
- 43:33Speaker 3: I love it.
- 43:34Speaker 2: Do you believe in love it first sight?
- 43:36Speaker 3: Yes?
- 43:36Speaker 2: Boxers or briefs? Boxers, baloney or Cheeseez?
- 43:41Speaker 1: I have an idea to talk about, all right, what's
- 43:42Speaker 1: something you learned about yourself going through the vorce.
- 43:46Speaker 3: That nobody comes out unscathed. Everybody gets cut.
- 43:53Speaker 1: I was talking to Deanna Pappas every and Diana Papus
- 43:56Speaker 1: just went through something very public, right, and I said
- 43:59Speaker 1: to I'm like, I'm like, Deanna, been saying this for years,
- 44:00Speaker 1: but no one seems to listen to me. Divorce sucks,
- 44:03Speaker 1: even if you want it.
- 44:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:04Speaker 1: Yeah, And the reason why it sucks is because it
- 44:07Speaker 1: is still having to recognize the end of something that
- 44:09Speaker 1: you wanted to work. Absolutely if you didn't want it.
- 44:11Speaker 1: To work you wouldn't have done in the first place.
- 44:13Speaker 1: And it's and it sucks because it's easier to get
- 44:16Speaker 1: divorced than it is to get married. Everybody, you know, Yeah,
- 44:20Speaker 1: there's no one, no stone left unturned, and nobody.
- 44:22Speaker 3: To see some scar for a long time. I agree.
- 44:26Speaker 2: Well, buddy, as always, you are so open and vulnerable
- 44:29Speaker 2: and honest. I love it.
- 44:30Speaker 1: Thank you, Thanks for being on the show again, Thanks
- 44:33Speaker 1: for being a part of this whole thing.
- 44:34Speaker 2: Thanks for letting me beat you and pick a ball today.
- 44:41Speaker 1: Left man, that's spin that English, that natural English she
- 44:44Speaker 1: puts on the ball. But I appreciate you, man, I
- 44:46Speaker 1: love I love that the Goldens came into this whole
- 44:49Speaker 1: world and it brought a lot for me personally, like
- 44:53Speaker 1: to get to see some people that I loved, how
- 44:55Speaker 1: they were handling themselves and and and then to get
- 44:57Speaker 1: to know you guys all over the years has been
- 44:58Speaker 1: so great. But thank you for always being an open book.
- 45:00Speaker 1: Thanks for being a part of this. Congratulations on your
- 45:02Speaker 1: run on Paradise. I know we're all gonna be watching
- 45:05Speaker 1: and seeing how it unfold.
- 45:07Speaker 2: Because I can't wait to see.
- 45:08Speaker 3: Amen.
- 45:08Speaker 1: I'm sure there are some fun things coming up and
- 45:10Speaker 1: I'm very excited to see it all.
- 45:11Speaker 2: So thank you, Bob. Lots and lots of people need you, man.
- 45:16Speaker 2: I need you too well, Thank you, buddy.
- 45:18Speaker 3: But don't ever forget, Bob, truly. I mean that's from
- 45:21Speaker 3: the bottom of my heart, how much you matter. You
- 45:26Speaker 3: matter man, well, thank you buddy. I so hold on
- 45:29Speaker 3: to that and never forget you matter to so many people. Wow,
- 45:34Speaker 3: thank you.
- 45:35Speaker 2: No, thank you man, that's very kind things for you
- 45:37Speaker 2: to say.
- 45:38Speaker 1: You're getting me emotional, but I got five minutes before
- 45:40Speaker 1: I would cry, so nothing's going to happen, right, Heather.
- 45:44Speaker 2: No, thank you, buddy.
- 45:45Speaker 1: That means a lot to me, and it means a
- 45:46Speaker 1: lot to me coming from you, So thank you very much.
