- 0:05Speaker 1: I'm Sean Gunn, and you're listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 0:26Speaker 2: This episode is rated M for Misty. Yes, that's right,
- 0:29Speaker 2: this is a Misty episode, so it will be laced
- 0:31Speaker 2: with profanity even more than usual. If you're not comfortable
- 0:35Speaker 2: with this level of profanity, perhaps this isn't the episode
- 0:38Speaker 2: for you. But we have many other episodes to choose
- 0:40Speaker 2: from that do not feature Misty and will probably be
- 0:42Speaker 2: far less offensive. Okay, maybe. With that having been said,
- 0:47Speaker 2: on with the show.
- 0:47Speaker 3: It's showtime.
- 0:49Speaker 4: Our nuclear reactor.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 1:19Speaker 4: What are you waiting for?
- 1:20Speaker 3: A graved invitation? What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown.
- 1:38Speaker 3: I'm Brian.
- 1:38Speaker 4: I'm Misty.
- 1:39Speaker 3: And we're coming to you live via digital recording from
- 1:41Speaker 3: the outskirts of Cincinnati Comic Expo.
- 1:44Speaker 4: Way on the outskirts.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Way on the outskirts. We've wandered even further than usual
- 1:47Speaker 3: this time, but we're... We came back home. We're heading
- 1:51Speaker 3: back home and we're doing our wrap up of our
- 1:54Speaker 3: day's activities.
- 1:55Speaker 4: We may or may not die. We're in an abandoned
- 1:57Speaker 4: parking lot.
- 1:59Speaker 3: So, how's it been, Misty?
- 2:01Speaker 4: It's been fantastic. We went to the convention.
- 2:04Speaker 3: We did.
- 2:04Speaker 4: There was a lot of people there.
- 2:06Speaker 3: There were a lot of people there.
- 2:07Speaker 4: A plethora of people. It was probably like, I was
- 2:09Speaker 4: on par with like Chicago. I liked the amount of people,
- 2:12Speaker 4: but it was just.
- 2:13Speaker 3: Which is saying a lot for Cincinnati.
- 2:15Speaker 4: I was not anticipating that many people. I figured it'd
- 2:17Speaker 4: be like, like a little bit, a little bit smaller.
- 2:21Speaker 4: Or at least a little bit less people. I figured
- 2:22Speaker 4: it'd be more like, you know, I don't know what
- 2:25Speaker 4: I figured it'd be like, but that was just.
- 2:28Speaker 3: I guess more power to them though. That's what they're
- 2:30Speaker 3: trying to do. I was shocked when there was still
- 2:32Speaker 3: like people lined up just to get in.
- 2:35Speaker 4: Blocks.
- 2:36Speaker 3: We weren't even that early in the day.
- 2:39Speaker 4: We were two hours.
- 2:40Speaker 3: I can't believe they're still like so.
- 2:42Speaker 4: Two hours after the doors opened, they were still lying
- 2:45Speaker 4: around the block. And I'm like, what?
- 2:47Speaker 3: There's definitely a big fan base of geeky people hanging
- 2:49Speaker 3: out in Cincinnati.
- 2:50Speaker 4: And we got that fake fall bullshit going on. So
- 2:52Speaker 4: it was fucking hot.
- 2:54Speaker 3: It's pretending like it's fall, but it's still like 90 degrees.
- 2:57Speaker 4: No, it ain't pretending like it's fall. It is fall,
- 2:58Speaker 4: but it's still pretending like it's summer.
- 2:59Speaker 3: The calendar says it's fall, but it's 90 degrees and
- 3:02Speaker 3: the weather is not cooperating.
- 3:03Speaker 4: I am torn with fall because I love fall. But
- 3:06Speaker 4: it's a precursor to winter. And I hate winter with
- 3:09Speaker 4: a furious passion. I hate all the things winter related.
- 3:12Speaker 4: I hate cold. I hate the snow. I hate ice.
- 3:15Speaker 4: I hate everything.
- 3:16Speaker 3: I'm kind of with you on most of these things.
- 3:18Speaker 3: I like fall a lot.
- 3:20Speaker 4: It gives me fall all year round.
- 3:22Speaker 3: If I can find fall all year round.
- 3:24Speaker 4: If there's some sort of portal to.
- 3:27Speaker 3: Halloween town that I can get on board with. Because
- 3:30Speaker 3: that's kind of what I'm looking for.
- 3:31Speaker 4: That would be awesome. I can even do it with hot.
- 3:34Speaker 4: I can do it with hot. cold it's just it's.
- 3:37Speaker 3: Not my thing that's the thing you can find hot
- 3:40Speaker 3: all the time you can find cold all the time
- 3:42Speaker 3: but autumn all the time it's hard to come by here.
- 3:46Speaker 4: It's not that bad in like california parts of california i.
- 3:49Speaker 3: Think they're just their own little universe they really are
- 3:53Speaker 3: a portal to their own place.
- 3:54Speaker 5: I know i've been to california it was nice so
- 3:59Speaker 5: you say traffic sucked that's not really a news flash
- 4:02Speaker 5: for people that live in california Do we have anybody
- 4:06Speaker 5: who actually listens from California?
- 4:07Speaker 3: Quite a few, actually.
- 4:08Speaker 4: Really?
- 4:09Speaker 3: We're quite popular in California. Also, Texas.
- 4:13Speaker 4: New York.
- 4:13Speaker 3: We have most of the.
- 4:16Speaker 4: It's just one person who travels around a lot of places.
- 4:18Speaker 3: Most of the groupings of people, that's where they come
- 4:21Speaker 3: and find us because they're super cool.
- 4:24Speaker 4: Anyways, this convention. Cincinnati Comic Expo 2017.
- 4:28Speaker 6: Woo!
- 4:28Speaker 4: Woo, indeed. I just had some code red.
- 4:34Speaker 3: You're all hopped up on what, I guess, is caffeine.
- 4:38Speaker 3: I'm not really sure what's in sodas anymore.
- 4:40Speaker 4: 91 milligrams. I looked on the label before I bought it.
- 4:42Speaker 3: 91 milligrams of high fructose corn syrup.
- 4:46Speaker 4: 91 milligrams of caffeine.
- 4:48Speaker 3: So you say.
- 4:49Speaker 4: That's what it says. A Mountain Dew Code Red would
- 4:51Speaker 4: not lie to me. Mountain Dew, regular version of Mountain
- 4:54Speaker 4: Dew is nasty shit. But give me that Code Red
- 4:56Speaker 4: or that weird blue flavor. All about it. Purple.
- 4:59Speaker 7: Mm-hmm.
- 5:00Speaker 3: I wouldn't do anything like that as I'm having a
- 5:03Speaker 3: hit of my coffee right now.
- 5:04Speaker 4: Game fuel. Game fuel's where it's at. I used to
- 5:07Speaker 4: tear up some game fuel.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Two words. Baja Blast. That's all I'm looking for and
- 5:13Speaker 3: they took it out of the bottles and I'm not
- 5:14Speaker 3: happy about it. I'm just going to send an angry
- 5:17Speaker 3: email to PepsiCo and be like, where's my bottle of
- 5:20Speaker 3: Baja Blast?
- 5:21Speaker 4: Taco Bell.
- 5:21Speaker 3: There's only so many times I can go to Taco Bell.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Don't get me wrong. It's pretty much every day if
- 5:25Speaker 3: I could work that out, but I'll also die soon, so.
- 5:29Speaker 3: Just give it to me in a bottle. It'll be
- 5:30Speaker 3: a lot easier. So, Daphne Zuniga. I saw Daphne Zuniga.
- 5:36Speaker 4: We saw John Ratzenberger.
- 5:38Speaker 3: We did. Cliff Clavin. To some of you people out there.
- 5:42Speaker 4: Did I see? Who else did we see? We did
- 5:43Speaker 4: not see Cary Elwes. No, no.
- 5:46Speaker 3: I'm trying to decide if he was there or if
- 5:48Speaker 3: he was hiding. Because at a previous convention in the past,
- 5:52Speaker 3: many years ago, he had himself sort of sequestered off.
- 5:56Speaker 3: They had to build him his own little, like, tarp
- 5:58Speaker 3: tent area where he could still have his crowd come
- 6:02Speaker 3: back there, but you couldn't see him. So I couldn't
- 6:04Speaker 3: decide if he was also doing that today or if
- 6:06Speaker 3: he just like bailed on him. I don't know.
- 6:08Speaker 4: I don't know. I didn't check their website. I'm assuming
- 6:09Speaker 4: he was there. I don't know. They did have a
- 6:11Speaker 4: lot of people show up. Yeah. I can't remember who
- 6:13Speaker 4: else was there. One chick, we said Poison Ivy from
- 6:16Speaker 4: the new.
- 6:17Speaker 3: Yeah, the new Poison Ivy from Gotham was there. Wallace Shawn?
- 6:22Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:23Speaker 3: The very popular?
- 6:24Speaker 4: Apparently. I was like, nobody else had a line. And
- 6:28Speaker 4: I was like, what the fuck's this shit? Oh, wait,
- 6:30Speaker 4: that's inconceivable.
- 6:31Speaker 3: That was my comment. I looked over and went, that's inconceivable.
- 6:36Speaker 4: He did get a line.
- 6:38Speaker 3: Heck of a line.
- 6:39Speaker 4: He did.
- 6:40Speaker 3: More than you might expect for that dude.
- 6:41Speaker 4: More than Daphne Zuniga.
- 6:43Speaker 3: Well, maybe hers was early in the day. The Zuniga
- 6:47Speaker 3: fans got there early and knocked it out.
- 6:49Speaker 4: We didn't get to see the Kel extravaganza.
- 6:51Speaker 3: Oh, God. He was hot-wheelsing around there, wasn't he?
- 6:56Speaker 4: Some chick in her motorized wheelchair, and we look over,
- 7:00Speaker 4: and there's Kel of Kenan and Kel fame.
- 7:04Speaker 3: Kel Mitchell, I believe.
- 7:05Speaker 4: Yeah. Apparently, he had straddled the back of her wheelchair, motorized,
- 7:12Speaker 4: and then apparently commandeered somebody's large-ass cosplay sword and was...
- 7:18Speaker 4: I don't know. Like in circles.
- 7:21Speaker 3: Triumphantly riding around the convention.
- 7:23Speaker 4: Figure eights. I'm not really sure what was going on there.
- 7:26Speaker 4: But he seemed like he was having a good old time.
- 7:28Speaker 3: I'm assuming everywhere Kel goes, Kel thinks he's having a
- 7:31Speaker 3: good time.
- 7:31Speaker 4: Where was Kenan?
- 7:33Speaker 3: Kenan's got real jobs.
- 7:35Speaker 4: Why didn't you take Kel with him?
- 7:36Speaker 8: Nope.
- 7:37Speaker 3: He'd had enough of Kel. There's only so many years
- 7:39Speaker 3: he could be with Kel. He's like, look, dude.
- 7:41Speaker 4: You got tired of Kel riding on his motorized scooter too?
- 7:43Speaker 3: I like you and all, but. I'm going to go
- 7:45Speaker 3: over here with my hovercraft. I bought with my many,
- 7:49Speaker 3: many years of SNL money.
- 7:50Speaker 4: Quit stealing my swords.
- 7:52Speaker 3: I got my own sword. I don't need you, Cal.
- 7:55Speaker 4: They had quite a plethora of things at this here
- 7:57Speaker 4: Cincinnati Comic Expo. I mean, there was a shit ton
- 8:00Speaker 4: of comics.
- 8:01Speaker 3: There was a lot of comics. So much so, you
- 8:03Speaker 3: couldn't even focus long enough to flip through many of them.
- 8:05Speaker 4: There were so many of them.
- 8:06Speaker 3: There was a lot of them.
- 8:07Speaker 4: There was, like, artists. There was authors. There was.
- 8:11Speaker 3: People in costumes?
- 8:12Speaker 4: There was a shit ton of people in costumes. And
- 8:14Speaker 4: it was... Dude, if your costume needs an assistant just
- 8:18Speaker 4: to handle your wings, maybe you need to rethink your shit.
- 8:21Speaker 4: Because there was just... I almost got a wing to
- 8:24Speaker 4: the eye.
- 8:26Speaker 3: You should have been wearing your protective goggles, which they
- 8:28Speaker 3: also gave you today.
- 8:29Speaker 4: I got those at the end of the day. Those
- 8:31Speaker 4: were from the library. So if you're in Cincinnati, go
- 8:34Speaker 4: to the Cincinnati library. Because they are awesome and they
- 8:36Speaker 4: gave me free shit. They might not give you free shit,
- 8:39Speaker 4: but you should go there anyway. So they got two ducks.
- 8:41Speaker 3: Tell them Misty sent you and you want free shit.
- 8:44Speaker 4: Two color changing pencils. The lady insisted I take the
- 8:47Speaker 4: bag because I was a free bag. And you know
- 8:48Speaker 4: me and free shit. And I'm like, oh lady, I
- 8:50Speaker 4: am not going to argue with you. Give me that
- 8:51Speaker 4: free bag.
- 8:53Speaker 3: Let's get to the best part of the day, possibly.
- 8:56Speaker 3: Free spinners? Right here. Listen to this, people.
- 8:59Speaker 2: Listen.
- 9:01Speaker 4: I can't hear the colors. You do it in the dark.
- 9:07Speaker 4: Turn the lights on.
- 9:08Speaker 3: That there's a spinner.
- 9:09Speaker 4: Not even just a spinner. I don't know.
- 9:11Speaker 3: You guys, I don't know if you're hip. to the
- 9:13Speaker 3: cool things going on today, these fidget spinners, I think
- 9:16Speaker 3: they're going to take off. Hashtag old reference. Yeah, now
- 9:21Speaker 3: that everyone else doesn't care about fidget spinners anymore, they're
- 9:24Speaker 3: freaking giving them away.
- 9:25Speaker 4: But this isn't even like your shitty one. This is
- 9:29Speaker 4: a movie promotional, first of all.
- 9:31Speaker 3: And which movie is this?
- 9:32Speaker 4: I don't even remember.
- 9:33Speaker 3: It's the new Blade Runner.
- 9:35Speaker 4: Was it?
- 9:35Speaker 3: That's why I took it. I was just like, you know,
- 9:37Speaker 3: I don't have fidget spinners because I don't really care.
- 9:40Speaker 3: But if I'm going to have one and mess with it,
- 9:42Speaker 3: I'd like it to be a movie promo thing. And
- 9:45Speaker 3: I at least like old Blade Runner. We'll see about
- 9:47Speaker 3: new Blade Runner. I'm still deciding.
- 9:48Speaker 4: Did you suck at fidget spinning? There we go. There
- 9:50Speaker 4: we go.
- 9:50Speaker 3: Look at that.
- 9:51Speaker 4: Look at those colors. It fucking lights up. They're free
- 9:54Speaker 4: and they have three colors. There's red, blue, and green.
- 9:56Speaker 4: And they spin around. And holy shit, that's mesmerizing.
- 9:58Speaker 3: That's the thing. I'm not like a little kid spinning.
- 10:00Speaker 3: I'm not oddly obsessed with them as they are because
- 10:02Speaker 3: I've watched first my nephew get ridiculous like jonesing for
- 10:07Speaker 3: freaking spinners and then he because my niece has to
- 10:12Speaker 3: be just like him she got suckered in and then
- 10:14Speaker 3: there was a competition and which of them had more
- 10:17Speaker 3: and they're kids. That's what they do. But, yeah, they
- 10:20Speaker 3: were all over them, like, even at the fair, and
- 10:22Speaker 3: the fair sells crap. So, like, they were there buying
- 10:24Speaker 3: them up, and those things were the junkiest thing. I
- 10:27Speaker 3: looked at them after they had, I'm like, these weren't
- 10:29Speaker 3: even worth the, like, $ 2 you paid for these garbage ones.
- 10:33Speaker 3: This one, on the other hand, is actually, like, super
- 10:35Speaker 3: high quality, spins for quite a long time, and lights up.
- 10:40Speaker 3: And not just lights up one way, it pulses, like,
- 10:42Speaker 3: at least three different options. It's pretty impressive, especially for
- 10:46Speaker 3: something I didn't pay for. So thank you, new Blade Runner.
- 10:51Speaker 3: Whether or not the movie sucks is yet to be seen,
- 10:53Speaker 3: but your spinner?
- 10:53Speaker 4: Awesome. It sucks because spinners have become kind of like
- 10:57Speaker 4: a lame joke now, but they actually did have a purpose,
- 11:00Speaker 4: and they actually did help a lot of people with
- 11:02Speaker 4: anxiety issues.
- 11:04Speaker 3: What are you talking about, Jay?
- 11:06Speaker 4: No, I'm serious. I mean... I might even like being facetious. Oh,
- 11:09Speaker 4: I know.
- 11:10Speaker 3: Again, that literally is why it happened with the first
- 11:14Speaker 3: round for my nephew. Because they even got those little
- 11:17Speaker 3: gadgety fidget things, those little cube things. They were trying
- 11:21Speaker 3: to give him one of those just because, I don't know,
- 11:23Speaker 3: like most kids now. All kids have some sort of
- 11:25Speaker 3: weird issue going on. Like, I don't know, we kind
- 11:27Speaker 3: of did growing up, too, but we were just weirdos
- 11:29Speaker 3: and other kids made fun of us. But now everybody has, like,
- 11:32Speaker 3: a specific.
- 11:32Speaker 4: Hold on, when did they start making fun of us?
- 11:34Speaker 3: Oh, they still do. But I'm saying, like, now kids have, like,
- 11:37Speaker 3: a specific, like, doctor-specified reason as to whatever three letters
- 11:42Speaker 3: identify what their problem is or whatever. We were just
- 11:45Speaker 3: weirdos when we were kids, so. Not that we aren't,
- 11:48Speaker 3: but it's different now. So now they have specific things
- 11:51Speaker 3: that they want kids to do, like play with gadgety
- 11:54Speaker 3: spinning cubes.
- 11:56Speaker 4: Hey, you know what? If it's helpful, who gives a shit?
- 11:58Speaker 4: If it actually helps.
- 11:59Speaker 3: Somebody, whatever. I mean, eventually it just became a promotional tool.
- 12:03Speaker 4: Which does, I mean, what doesn't? And a scam.
- 12:05Speaker 3: But regardless, this one's pretty damn cool.
- 12:08Speaker 4: Exactly. Got some posters. I got some.
- 12:11Speaker 3: That's true. Quite a few posters. There's some Ragnarok action.
- 12:15Speaker 4: Hell yeah, there's some Thor action.
- 12:16Speaker 3: You got a couple of doors.
- 12:17Speaker 4: Well, because they were two-sided.
- 12:19Speaker 3: Alternate versions.
- 12:19Speaker 4: They were two-sided, so the lady's like, you want to
- 12:21Speaker 4: see both sides? You better take two of them. I'm like, oh,
- 12:23Speaker 4: hell yeah, you are not going to get me.
- 12:24Speaker 3: Well, you gave me the go-ahead, so I'm going to.
- 12:26Speaker 4: I'm going to clean your damn table out, bitch.
- 12:29Speaker 3: She will. I've seen her do it. I do it, too.
- 12:31Speaker 3: Hashtag CW.
- 12:33Speaker 4: By the way, why was CW not there? Is CW
- 12:35Speaker 4: not a thing in Cincinnati? I don't know.
- 12:37Speaker 3: CW, obviously the Fox is the big area around there.
- 12:41Speaker 4: Which they put me on the spot because they had
- 12:43Speaker 4: this little thing.
- 12:44Speaker 3: You're a CW gal.
- 12:45Speaker 4: I'm a CW gal. So I'll walk up there to,
- 12:47Speaker 4: what is it, a Pachinko? Is that what it's called?
- 12:48Speaker 4: Not Pachinko.
- 12:49Speaker 3: I called it Plinko.
- 12:50Speaker 4: Plinko, Plinko.
- 12:51Speaker 3: Plinko is the, like, what's the Drew Carey show?
- 12:56Speaker 4: Yeah, Plinko. Price is Right.
- 12:59Speaker 3: Price is Right. Plinko is the Price is Right name
- 13:01Speaker 3: for that game. I'm sure there is some sort of...
- 13:04Speaker 3: I mean, it's kind of like that old arcade game.
- 13:06Speaker 4: Anyway, but... Yeah, Plinko.
- 13:10Speaker 3: Became the go-to name for me.
- 13:12Speaker 4: Anyway, so I walk up there, and I have my
- 13:13Speaker 4: little chips, and I'm ready to go, and he puts
- 13:15Speaker 4: me on the spot, and he's like, what's your favorite
- 13:17Speaker 4: Fox show? And I'm like, holy shit, I don't... What's
- 13:21Speaker 4: on Fox? I watch CW. If I say iZombie, he's
- 13:23Speaker 4: probably not going to be happy. He'll take my chips away.
- 13:26Speaker 4: He'll take my chips away before I even get a
- 13:27Speaker 4: chance to win nothing. So I'll go through. I'm like, see,
- 13:31Speaker 4: I think I had a pretty good answer. I saved.
- 13:34Speaker 3: That's true. It was like confusion mixed with kiss ass.
- 13:40Speaker 4: It was. I was like, I don't know. There's so many.
- 13:45Speaker 3: And he was like, that's the answer we like to hear.
- 13:47Speaker 3: You keep watching them and we'll have our jobs. That's
- 13:50Speaker 3: pretty much.
- 13:50Speaker 2: How he was.
- 13:51Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 13:51Speaker 4: Yeah, he does.
- 13:52Speaker 3: Jorky guys that have to say that sort of stuff
- 13:54Speaker 3: because they work for the company.
- 13:55Speaker 4: Now somebody's going to tell him I lied. I don't
- 13:57Speaker 4: watch any movies. Maybe if you had better shows. I'm joking,
- 14:01Speaker 4: I'm joking.
- 14:01Speaker 3: We're heading that way, though, because now there's going to be, again,
- 14:04Speaker 3: for our nonstop talking about superheroes nonsense that we do
- 14:07Speaker 3: around here, there's a new Marvel-related show coming on Fox.
- 14:11Speaker 3: There is?
- 14:12Speaker 4: Yeah. Which was it?
- 14:14Speaker 3: We got a button for it. Look at your button.
- 14:16Speaker 4: It's in my bag. Gifted? No, I thought it was
- 14:19Speaker 4: in the M. It's not the M?
- 14:21Speaker 2: Mifted?
- 14:25Speaker 3: I'd watch Mifted.
- 14:27Speaker 4: Come on, Fox.
- 14:28Speaker 3: Put this together. Greenlight this shit.
- 14:31Speaker 4: I don't know what it was called. It'd be nice
- 14:34Speaker 4: if we did because they didn't give us free buttons
- 14:35Speaker 4: after we didn't.
- 14:38Speaker 3: Dig your way to your stuff.
- 14:39Speaker 4: It's in the trunk.
- 14:40Speaker 3: Mine's behind me somewhere.
- 14:41Speaker 4: Mine is in the more backer than yours is.
- 14:43Speaker 3: I gotta get out and look for it.
- 14:47Speaker 4: Never mind. It's a show. Watch Fox. They give us
- 14:50Speaker 4: free shit. I wanted a shirt just because I like shirts.
- 14:54Speaker 3: I got a pen.
- 14:56Speaker 4: Don't hang them in my pen. It's better than the cup.
- 14:57Speaker 4: I didn't want the cup. Because the pen had a
- 15:02Speaker 4: big M on it. Why would they have a big
- 15:03Speaker 4: M on it if it's... Marvel?
- 15:06Speaker 3: Monkeys? Because it's no mutants. That's why it's the M.
- 15:10Speaker 3: The Ghostbusters X through it or something like that.
- 15:16Speaker 4: The Gifted.
- 15:17Speaker 3: See, I wasn't making that up. Gifted. The Gifted on Fox.
- 15:22Speaker 3: You keep watching it. We'll have more jobs.
- 15:25Speaker 4: Not us.
- 15:25Speaker 3: We're not getting anything except free button.
- 15:27Speaker 4: So if they ever ask you, you'll have an answer.
- 15:29Speaker 3: I love the gifted, dude. I don't know.
- 15:32Speaker 4: Hopefully we'll have been on by then otherwise.
- 15:34Speaker 3: I was like, um, that Andy Samberg show about cops.
- 15:38Speaker 3: I watched that a couple.
- 15:39Speaker 4: Of times once.
- 15:40Speaker 3: Yeah, because it was on there. While you were, like,
- 15:43Speaker 3: choking on the answer, I was looking behind him.
- 15:45Speaker 4: You were cheating.
- 15:46Speaker 3: Behind him over there, there's, like, a trunk with a
- 15:48Speaker 3: bunch of stickers on it of all their shows.
- 15:51Speaker 4: I was facing the board, and there was nothing over
- 15:52Speaker 4: on my side.
- 15:53Speaker 3: The sad thing, I'm looking at it going, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope.
- 15:56Speaker 4: Oh, wait.
- 15:57Speaker 3: I was like, I finally, I was like, that one,
- 15:58Speaker 3: I've seen that one before at least.
- 15:59Speaker 4: What's it called? What's it called? What's it called?
- 16:01Speaker 3: Cops and stuff. Blue badges.
- 16:05Speaker 6: No.
- 16:06Speaker 3: In the blue. Andy Sandberg.
- 16:09Speaker 4: No.
- 16:09Speaker 3: With special guests.
- 16:10Speaker 4: No.
- 16:10Speaker 3: Kenan Thompson.
- 16:11Speaker 4: No. I wish. Kenan Thompson, yeah.
- 16:14Speaker 3: I wish. He knows him, SNL, you know.
- 16:16Speaker 4: Only if he brings Kel with him.
- 16:18Speaker 3: No, he doesn't hang with Kel anymore. What are you crazy?
- 16:21Speaker 4: Yeah, CW needed to have been there because they give
- 16:22Speaker 4: away some good shit.
- 16:25Speaker 3: That's my usual go-to because most of my shows are
- 16:27Speaker 3: on the CWs.
- 16:28Speaker 4: I got a t-shirt last time. From The Flash.
- 16:32Speaker 3: I just said hero.
- 16:33Speaker 4: Sorry. I didn't have a flash one. That was really,
- 16:35Speaker 4: really comfortable. Seriously.
- 16:38Speaker 2: CW.
- 16:38Speaker 3: I'm just saying sponsorship.
- 16:40Speaker 2: That's all.
- 16:40Speaker 3: That's all I'm saying. We can be promoting these shows
- 16:43Speaker 3: for reals.
- 16:45Speaker 4: Uh, what else do they have? They don't kind of
- 16:46Speaker 4: like weird photo op things too, that were, you know,
- 16:48Speaker 4: like something we usually, I mean, we usually see like
- 16:50Speaker 4: some of the standard issue photo op things like the, uh,
- 16:53Speaker 4: we'll have like a, the, you know, the, the, the
- 16:56Speaker 4: do back.
- 16:57Speaker 3: That is a do back. Um, Which, that dewback's been
- 17:00Speaker 3: to Wonderfest a long time ago, so Wonderfest kind of
- 17:02Speaker 3: beat him to the punch on that one.
- 17:03Speaker 4: The How to Train Your Dragon dragon.
- 17:05Speaker 3: But the other stuff was pretty sizable and I haven't
- 17:08Speaker 3: seen before.
- 17:08Speaker 4: That's what I'm saying. The big dioramas with, like, the
- 17:10Speaker 4: one with the wampa.
- 17:13Speaker 3: The wampa's the most impressive one. Only because you're, like,
- 17:17Speaker 3: flipping your brain.
- 17:17Speaker 4: It's a fucking cave.
- 17:19Speaker 3: And it's upside down. Because the wampa is on the
- 17:22Speaker 3: ceiling inside. So you can take the picture of you
- 17:26Speaker 3: reaching for your lightsaber on the floor, but then you
- 17:29Speaker 3: flip it and it looks like you're hanging from the
- 17:30Speaker 3: ceiling trying to use the force to get your lightsaber
- 17:32Speaker 3: and there's a wampa in the background about to eat you.
- 17:34Speaker 4: Fucking A.
- 17:35Speaker 3: It's pretty impressive, I gotta say.
- 17:36Speaker 4: That is some mind-boggling, mind-blown.
- 17:38Speaker 3: That's impressive for a diorama. That's more work than I
- 17:42Speaker 3: would have put in, but you know. I'm assuming somebody
- 17:44Speaker 3: kicked in some cash to make that thing safe.
- 17:46Speaker 4: There was a land speeder in front of a Jurassic Park.
- 17:50Speaker 3: I think that was just our perspective. I was like, yeah,
- 17:54Speaker 3: can I be riding the land speeder going into Jurassic Park?
- 17:57Speaker 3: Because there's also the big gates for Jurassic Park that
- 17:59Speaker 3: you could stand in front of.
- 18:00Speaker 4: They had the Jeep, too.
- 18:01Speaker 3: You could park a Jeep there in one of those
- 18:03Speaker 3: inflatable dinosaurs. I said it earlier today. I know they're dumb.
- 18:09Speaker 3: and really impractical for that person inside, but I still laugh.
- 18:11Speaker 4: How do you look at shit?
- 18:12Speaker 3: How do you look at shit? I still laugh every
- 18:14Speaker 3: time one of those dumb, inflatable Tyrannosauruses goes wandering by.
- 18:17Speaker 4: You can't flip through comic books in that.
- 18:19Speaker 3: I think that with most costumes, though. I'm just like,
- 18:22Speaker 3: these are all impractical. You guys are hot and sweaty,
- 18:25Speaker 3: and you've got makeup smeared all over your face, and
- 18:28Speaker 3: you're wearing something giant.
- 18:28Speaker 4: Hot and sweaty describes half the people there, whether they're
- 18:30Speaker 4: in costume or not, because let me tell you, dude,
- 18:32Speaker 4: there were some smells.
- 18:33Speaker 3: Well, that's just because.
- 18:34Speaker 4: That's every convention, though.
- 18:35Speaker 3: Geeks barely leave their house anyway, so what are you
- 18:37Speaker 3: going to do?
- 18:37Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 18:40Speaker 3: Pom. We saw Pom. She was adorable.
- 18:43Speaker 4: She was adorable. We saw her from a distance because
- 18:45Speaker 4: I didn't buy anybody's autograph this time because I'm cheap
- 18:47Speaker 4: as shit.
- 18:49Speaker 3: I've got a lot. I'm running out of things to
- 18:51Speaker 3: do with everything, let alone more photos of people.
- 18:56Speaker 4: I got the saxophone guy.
- 18:57Speaker 3: But Mantis is super cute.
- 18:58Speaker 4: She is super cute. Oh, my God. I did get
- 19:00Speaker 4: my picture with a guy in a Groot costume. That
- 19:02Speaker 4: was pretty exciting.
- 19:03Speaker 3: That was cool. Once again, it was like a crazy
- 19:06Speaker 3: size thing because he was baby Groot.
- 19:08Speaker 4: He was bigger than me.
- 19:10Speaker 3: Yeah, number one, he was bigger than you. And then perspective-wise,
- 19:13Speaker 3: it was doing the rockets, don't push the red button thing.
- 19:17Speaker 3: So it was like him with his giant controller. So cute. Perspective-wise,
- 19:22Speaker 3: it looked like he was the right size.
- 19:24Speaker 4: So cute.
- 19:25Speaker 3: So points to that dude for making that giant thing.
- 19:27Speaker 3: Because even if he bought the Groot costume, he had
- 19:30Speaker 3: to build that giant switch, don't hit the red button
- 19:33Speaker 3: and blow us all up thing. That was pretty well
- 19:37Speaker 3: put together, actually.
- 19:38Speaker 4: I bought some more enamel buttons.
- 19:40Speaker 2: Pins.
- 19:41Speaker 3: Pins. We did get buttons, though. What do the buttons say?
- 19:43Speaker 4: Stay spooky.
- 19:45Speaker 3: Stay spooky.
- 19:46Speaker 4: Oh, there's... They loaned it to Arc. Holy shit.
- 19:48Speaker 3: That was the... That was the... That was... it over
- 19:50Speaker 3: the edge for me, because I'm trying to control myself.
- 19:52Speaker 4: I was already leaning. They were only a dollar, and
- 19:54Speaker 4: I was already leaning very heavily. And then I'm like, whoa, whoa, whoa.
- 19:56Speaker 4: They glow in the dark?
- 19:57Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
- 19:58Speaker 4: Say no more. Take my money. Give me my pin.
- 20:01Speaker 4: My button.
- 20:01Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying. So now we've got a creepy
- 20:04Speaker 3: button with bats on it that also glows in the dark.
- 20:08Speaker 3: Pretty awesome.
- 20:09Speaker 4: Fucking A.
- 20:10Speaker 3: But then you went back to your usual, your new,
- 20:14Speaker 3: and by new I mean the last year or so,
- 20:16Speaker 3: new obsession, the enamel pins.
- 20:18Speaker 4: I do adore enamel pins. I bought some from this
- 20:22Speaker 4: company before, and they were there, and I saw them,
- 20:24Speaker 4: and I was like, oh, my God.
- 20:24Speaker 3: They have some pretty great pins, I've got to say.
- 20:26Speaker 3: I'm not officially plugging them until they come on board.
- 20:29Speaker 3: But if I was going to, they've got some pretty
- 20:32Speaker 3: great pins.
- 20:32Speaker 4: But I got one that says they're in my purse
- 20:35Speaker 4: and that would involve way too much work to get
- 20:36Speaker 4: them out. One of them's got Sam from Trick or Treat.
- 20:39Speaker 3: That's awesome already.
- 20:40Speaker 4: One of them looks like a vintage Halloween ad or something.
- 20:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it's from like the old... It's one
- 20:46Speaker 3: of those like old ads. That's the sad thing is
- 20:48Speaker 3: that I recognize it because I've been reading like stupid
- 20:51Speaker 3: comic books since I was born. But yeah, it looks
- 20:54Speaker 3: like it's one of those old like... Again, if you're
- 20:57Speaker 3: really old, you remember they used to sell like 10-foot
- 21:00Speaker 3: inflatable skeleton floats.
- 21:03Speaker 4: Across the room.
- 21:05Speaker 3: It was like a nickel's worth of plastic when it
- 21:09Speaker 3: probably showed up at your house. But the ad was awesome,
- 21:12Speaker 3: and that's how it suckered kids in.
- 21:13Speaker 2: So they had these.
- 21:13Speaker 3: Cool little artworks of a ghoul head, and he had
- 21:17Speaker 3: a ghostly sheet body. So it's kind of like that.
- 21:20Speaker 3: He's got a creepy head and a ghost body. And
- 21:23Speaker 3: then you got candy. Did you not? According to someone.
- 21:28Speaker 4: They had a pin, like an animal pin, of like,
- 21:32Speaker 4: they're really cool. It looks like the little bones and Mr. Bones,
- 21:36Speaker 4: the coffin with the coffin candy.
- 21:38Speaker 3: One of my favorite candies of all time.
- 21:39Speaker 4: And one of Jay's favorite candies.
- 21:41Speaker 3: And also Jay's.
- 21:42Speaker 4: So I took a picture of the pin. And the
- 21:45Speaker 4: note that said, enamel pin. And he's like, oh my god,
- 21:48Speaker 4: you found the candy? Did you buy me some? And
- 21:50Speaker 4: I'm like, oh my god, it's a fucking pin. Did
- 21:51Speaker 4: you not read what I put on there?
- 21:53Speaker 3: And it also kind of looks like an enamel pin.
- 21:55Speaker 4: That's why I asked.
- 21:56Speaker 3: I was like, was he wearing his glasses?
- 21:58Speaker 4: It's very much an enamel pen. It looks like nothing
- 22:00Speaker 4: other than an enamel pen. It looks like.
- 22:02Speaker 3: Artwork representing Mr. Bones and Candy, but it doesn't really
- 22:05Speaker 3: look like the real thing.
- 22:06Speaker 4: He sounded very disappointed. I felt bad to break his
- 22:08Speaker 4: little heart. I don't know, Brian.
- 22:10Speaker 3: Just buy him a pen.
- 22:11Speaker 4: He can't eat it. He'll try to eat it.
- 22:13Speaker 3: Oh, he might. You're right.
- 22:15Speaker 4: He won't. He's not an idiot.
- 22:16Speaker 3: He needs adult supervision. And it's sad that you're his
- 22:18Speaker 3: adult supervision.
- 22:19Speaker 4: Yeah, I need adult supervision being an adult.
- 22:21Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying. You both need adult supervision.
- 22:24Speaker 4: I adult very well sometimes.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Sometimes.
- 22:28Speaker 4: Sporadically. I had my moments. I bought a new vehicle.
- 22:31Speaker 3: That's true. That's very responsible of you.
- 22:33Speaker 4: We are sitting in right now.
- 22:34Speaker 3: Responsible of you.
- 22:36Speaker 4: Slower than my old car, so that makes me more
- 22:38Speaker 4: responsible because I can't go flying around because it's not
- 22:40Speaker 4: an 8 or a B6 or a B-whatever.
- 22:42Speaker 3: How about uphills? What's it do when you go uphills?
- 22:45Speaker 4: Jonesy does not like going uphills. Hey, but he's putting
- 22:50Speaker 4: forth an effort.
- 22:52Speaker 3: He's working. He's working hard.
- 22:56Speaker 4: Don't hurt his feelings.
- 22:58Speaker 3: I like Jonesy. Again, he's a make very similar to
- 23:01Speaker 3: one that I had many a year ago. I like
- 23:04Speaker 3: these type of vehicles.
- 23:05Speaker 4: Jonesy's my baby now. If anyone wants to buy a Nissan,
- 23:09Speaker 4: it's going to be in an auction pretty soon.
- 23:12Speaker 3: Unloading the previous Misty vehicle, so get in line. It's
- 23:16Speaker 3: jacked up, piece of poop. You're not selling this very good.
- 23:22Speaker 4: Collector's item that belonged to a member of the movie
- 23:24Speaker 4: about town staff.
- 23:25Speaker 3: There you go. We can put it as a special
- 23:30Speaker 3: level on the Patreon account if you'd like. Sign on
- 23:34Speaker 3: now and get Misty's old junkie car. We'll make it
- 23:38Speaker 3: like a special like $ 6 a month and you get
- 23:41Speaker 3: a junkie car.
- 23:42Speaker 4: One time donation of $ 1, 500 and this bitch is yours.
- 23:45Speaker 3: She'll sign it for you too. Go on. Sharpie it
- 23:47Speaker 3: right on the hood.
- 23:48Speaker 4: I will.
- 23:50Speaker 3: So... If nothing else, we usually venture into what you've
- 23:54Speaker 3: been watching lately.
- 23:55Speaker 4: I've got one. I don't.
- 23:56Speaker 3: Specifically, I've got one because, and I was gutting just
- 23:59Speaker 3: like send it out on like, you know, Twitter and
- 24:01Speaker 3: Facebook and whatnot. But I was just like, no, no,
- 24:03Speaker 3: this is actually important enough to put in the middle
- 24:06Speaker 3: of the show. We need to discuss it. I'm not
- 24:08Speaker 3: even going to discuss the movie at great length. I'm
- 24:10Speaker 3: just going to tell everybody to go watch it for
- 24:13Speaker 3: two reasons. Number one, it's awesome. And number two, we
- 24:15Speaker 3: just had the director on. So if you were back
- 24:19Speaker 3: listening a month and a half, two months ago, we
- 24:22Speaker 3: had Tyler McIntyre on. He was on. He's an awesome guest.
- 24:25Speaker 4: Is he related to Joey? I don't really know.
- 24:29Speaker 3: We can ask him next time. I told him he
- 24:30Speaker 3: can come back as often as he wants. But he
- 24:32Speaker 3: was talking about his most recent movie, which is freaking awesome.
- 24:38Speaker 4: Which is it?
- 24:39Speaker 3: That one is Tragedy Girls. Oh, gotcha. And it's the
- 24:42Speaker 3: most recent one, and it's super awesome. But as we
- 24:44Speaker 3: were talking about that, he also referenced his first feature,
- 24:48Speaker 3: which was about to hit Netflix. And this past week,
- 24:51Speaker 3: it showed up on Netflix. So if nothing else, it's
- 24:55Speaker 3: on Netflix. Most of you are probably sitting on top
- 24:57Speaker 3: of that right now, not using it like I am
- 24:59Speaker 3: most of the time. But that time I was like, oh, wait,
- 25:01Speaker 3: there's finally something I actually want to see on Netflix. Patchwork.
- 25:06Speaker 3: Go look for Patchwork. It is, again, if you're the
- 25:10Speaker 3: kind of person, I'm assuming if you're listening to the show,
- 25:12Speaker 3: You're the kind of person who likes horror movies and
- 25:15Speaker 3: probably really fun horror movies. Like, this does not take
- 25:20Speaker 3: itself seriously. And even as he said, like, that's kind
- 25:22Speaker 3: of what he likes. He likes sort of, like, straddling
- 25:26Speaker 3: that genre edge there where it's like it's comedy, but
- 25:29Speaker 3: it still functions as a good horror movie. It's like
- 25:32Speaker 3: we like putting the comedic elements in there, but not
- 25:35Speaker 3: undercutting the horror aspect. And, like, this is so perfectly
- 25:40Speaker 3: riding that line. Like, it is just... silly and ridiculous
- 25:44Speaker 3: at times.
- 25:44Speaker 4: What is the basic concept?
- 25:45Speaker 3: The basic, I won't go any further than pretty much
- 25:48Speaker 3: how he pitched it, but basically, I think it even
- 25:51Speaker 3: tells you in the rundown, three girls are out at
- 25:53Speaker 3: like a bar one night and they wake up and
- 25:58Speaker 3: they're all stitched together into one person.
- 26:01Speaker 4: Not like the human centipede?
- 26:03Speaker 3: No, they're one person. It's Frankensteined into different. There's one
- 26:07Speaker 3: half of this face, one half of this face, the
- 26:08Speaker 3: bottom of this face, different.
- 26:10Speaker 4: Arms, different legs. Are they all one person or do
- 26:13Speaker 4: they all have three heads?
- 26:14Speaker 3: No, no. It's one person to look at them made
- 26:17Speaker 3: from three different people. And then this was the interesting
- 26:21Speaker 3: part because he didn't really totally get into that. But
- 26:24Speaker 3: I'll at least tease this a little bit. All their
- 26:26Speaker 3: personalities are still in there. They somehow like grafted the
- 26:29Speaker 3: brain into a functioning brain. But all three of their
- 26:32Speaker 3: like personalities are in there and then start talking to
- 26:36Speaker 3: each other.
- 26:36Speaker 4: It's just complicated.
- 26:38Speaker 3: But they start functioning as one body or trying to
- 26:41Speaker 3: figure out how to function as one body and then
- 26:44Speaker 3: go on a revenge spree. And again, it does one
- 26:48Speaker 3: of those like I kind of thought I knew where
- 26:49Speaker 3: it was going. I'm like, oh, no, it went a
- 26:51Speaker 3: whole nother place here. OK, like so. Points to Tyler.
- 26:56Speaker 3: It's doing things that are very fun and super unconventional.
- 26:59Speaker 3: Didn't see a few of those turns coming along the way,
- 27:02Speaker 3: so it's really cool. And it's on Netflix now, so
- 27:05Speaker 3: go find Patchwork.
- 27:07Speaker 4: I didn't watch anything, but I've been attempting, and I'm
- 27:10Speaker 4: still in the process of trying to read a book.
- 27:12Speaker 3: Well, reading's hard.
- 27:14Speaker 4: No, I mean, I read relatively frequently. I read almost
- 27:18Speaker 4: every night, but this one's just so fucking hard to
- 27:19Speaker 4: pick up. Not even because it's fucking heavy, because it weighs... 1,000 pounds. Well,
- 27:24Speaker 4: it's got 1,000 and 60, 100, I don't remember how
- 27:27Speaker 4: many pages it's got. It's got over 1,000.
- 27:29Speaker 3: I'm going to blame that Stephen King character that always
- 27:32Speaker 3: writes really long books.
- 27:33Speaker 4: It's so fucking wordy.
- 27:37Speaker 3: He's kind of like that, I hate to tell you.
- 27:40Speaker 3: He loves his long descriptions of things.
- 27:42Speaker 4: Seriously, dude, I'm 160 pages in and I ain't seen shit.
- 27:47Speaker 4: Except for... No clowns? That's the thing. They had the
- 27:50Speaker 4: clown in the very, very, very beginning chapter when they
- 27:53Speaker 4: have Georgie.
- 27:54Speaker 3: I guess it's no surprise what book it is you're reading.
- 27:56Speaker 4: It. It. I'm reading It.
- 27:59Speaker 3: Attempting to read It.
- 28:00Speaker 4: It's going to take me the rest of my goddamn
- 28:02Speaker 4: life because I've been reading this motherfucker for at least
- 28:04Speaker 4: a week and a half, two weeks. I'm only 160
- 28:06Speaker 4: pages in and it's over a thousand pages.
- 28:09Speaker 3: Sound out the big words.
- 28:10Speaker 4: It's not that I have a problem. It's just... It
- 28:14Speaker 4: hasn't gotten to where it's hooked me yet, I guess.
- 28:16Speaker 3: I mean, that's the thing. It's got to be... As
- 28:19Speaker 3: anyone who listens to this regularly, I'm not an avid reader.
- 28:22Speaker 3: And that's part of it. To me, there's certain things
- 28:25Speaker 3: that just don't engage you enough. I even ask that
- 28:28Speaker 3: of my movies. I'm like, you've got to bring me in.
- 28:30Speaker 3: I want to feel like I'm engaged in what's going
- 28:33Speaker 3: on in the story. And it's like tenfold when I'm
- 28:35Speaker 3: trying to read something.
- 28:37Speaker 4: Usually I'm like, okay, I can't wait to go to
- 28:40Speaker 4: bed so I can read. I love reading. I've always
- 28:42Speaker 4: loved reading ever since I was a kid. Me and
- 28:44Speaker 4: my Fear Street books. I still... I could probably read
- 28:47Speaker 4: the Fear Street books a whole lot faster and better
- 28:48Speaker 4: than I could read this. And it's not because it's hard.
- 28:50Speaker 4: It's just it hasn't gotten me to where I'm like, oh,
- 28:53Speaker 4: what's happening next? It's to the point where... Because it's like... Okay,
- 28:57Speaker 4: I'm not really spoiling anything. This book's been out for
- 28:59Speaker 4: longer than I've been alive, almost. But it's like... Okay,
- 29:03Speaker 4: they had the very first scene where you have Georgie
- 29:06Speaker 4: in the boat and all that stuff. That happens. And
- 29:10Speaker 4: then there's some extremely... Like, some gay guy gets... fucking
- 29:15Speaker 4: killed and it's there that's just the whole some of
- 29:19Speaker 4: that just seems like gratuitous and just like the language
- 29:21Speaker 4: and i'm just like dude whoa.
- 29:22Speaker 3: Again that's a lot of stephen king like what little
- 29:25Speaker 3: i got into him years ago like it was just
- 29:29Speaker 3: because i guess nobody told him no he just does
- 29:31Speaker 3: whatever he wants sometimes he's super self-indulgent.
- 29:34Speaker 4: I don't know what's going to get worse i know
- 29:35Speaker 4: i've already heard about a lot there's gonna be a
- 29:37Speaker 4: lot of like racial stuff in it too and i
- 29:39Speaker 4: haven't gotten to that yet but it's like once that
- 29:41Speaker 4: stuff happened then it's trying to bring back each as
- 29:44Speaker 4: each loser where they are now and them getting the
- 29:47Speaker 4: call that they have to come back and it's where
- 29:49Speaker 4: they are and just them leaving to go to dairy
- 29:53Speaker 4: and it's like that's it's every one of them's life
- 29:55Speaker 4: and some of them just like oh my god your
- 29:57Speaker 4: life is so fucking stupid They are losers. The guy
- 30:02Speaker 4: with his mom wife. I don't even know what the
- 30:03Speaker 4: fuck to do with that. You know? And if you've
- 30:07Speaker 4: read it, you know what I'm talking about. But this
- 30:08Speaker 4: is a guy, and pretty much the only reason he
- 30:10Speaker 4: married his wife is because she's fat and reminds him
- 30:12Speaker 4: of his mom. Yep. Anyway, so it's just all of
- 30:15Speaker 4: them and their shitty lives. And Bev, I mean, I know,
- 30:19Speaker 4: I'm pretty sure, I don't know if I've ever actually
- 30:20Speaker 4: seen the original It in its entirety.
- 30:22Speaker 3: I have, but it's been a very long time.
- 30:24Speaker 4: Anyway, so Bev is pretty much just getting her ass
- 30:26Speaker 4: beat by her boyfriend.
- 30:28Speaker 3: Not cool.
- 30:29Speaker 8: No.
- 30:30Speaker 4: But it's weird because it's throwing me off because each
- 30:32Speaker 4: one's from like, they're not all from the same perspective.
- 30:35Speaker 4: It's like the Bev is told from her boyfriend going
- 30:39Speaker 4: to beat her perspective. It's from his perspective.
- 30:42Speaker 3: Seems weird.
- 30:43Speaker 4: Because she gets the call and he's pissed because she's
- 30:46Speaker 4: smoking and he freaks out and he beats her and
- 30:47Speaker 4: she ends up beating the shit out of him.
- 30:49Speaker 3: This does not seem like a healthy relationship.
- 30:51Speaker 4: No. But it's very disconcerting to me because I was like, alright,
- 30:55Speaker 4: if you want me to connect with these losers, tell
- 30:56Speaker 4: them all from their story. Don't be having the whiny
- 30:59Speaker 4: wife telling the story while her husband's leaving because he's
- 31:01Speaker 4: the loser who's leaving, you know. Whatever it is.
- 31:06Speaker 3: This is all complicated.
- 31:07Speaker 4: It's so fucking complicated. I'm hoping eventually I get to
- 31:10Speaker 4: the point where I'm like, ooh, what happens next? Now
- 31:12Speaker 4: I'm just like, God, there's a lot of fucking pages left.
- 31:16Speaker 4: And it's like, I've read Stephen King before. It's not
- 31:18Speaker 4: like Stephen King is a new concept to me. I
- 31:20Speaker 4: read the... What did I read? The Stand. When I
- 31:23Speaker 4: was in junior high school. And that one was fucking long.
- 31:26Speaker 4: But that one, I fucking read it. And I read
- 31:28Speaker 4: it and I enjoyed it. And I was one of
- 31:30Speaker 4: those that I... Even in junior high, I tore through
- 31:33Speaker 4: that motherfucker during a couple... I can't say a couple days.
- 31:36Speaker 4: Because let me tell you, that was some investment time
- 31:39Speaker 4: right there. Any Stephen King novels....
- 31:43Speaker 3: Again, he's got great concepts, but sometimes he... That's one
- 31:48Speaker 3: of those, like, I think it works better, especially as
- 31:51Speaker 3: we got into movies, because that's where I.
- 31:54Speaker 4: Just as long as you don't let him direct his
- 31:56Speaker 4: own movies.
- 31:56Speaker 3: Well, even he knows better. Even he was just like, no,
- 31:59Speaker 3: that was a terrible idea. That's why I didn't do
- 32:00Speaker 3: it anymore. But, like, if you find a good director
- 32:03Speaker 3: who understands him and, like, also kind of knows how
- 32:06Speaker 3: to rein him in and how to cut out the
- 32:08Speaker 3: excess and, like, you find good guys that kind of
- 32:11Speaker 3: know how to do it and you get, like, a
- 32:13Speaker 3: Frank Darabont or a Mick Garris and, like, you get
- 32:16Speaker 3: these guys that work with his, because he's got great concepts, but, like,
- 32:20Speaker 3: he just, in novel form, especially when you're one of
- 32:23Speaker 3: the biggest authors ever, you know, it's like you have
- 32:26Speaker 3: free reign to write as long as you want, be
- 32:28Speaker 3: as descriptive as you want, but that doesn't always translate
- 32:30Speaker 3: into films. From what I read, it took.
- 32:32Speaker 4: Him at least four or five years to write this book.
- 32:35Speaker 4: I'm going to spend at least that long reading it. Dude,
- 32:39Speaker 4: I am not even joking. And I want to. I
- 32:43Speaker 4: want to read it because it's like, I want to,
- 32:45Speaker 4: but he's not making it easy on me. This book
- 32:48Speaker 4: is not one that wants to be read.
- 32:50Speaker 3: I don't think Stephen King makes anything easy on people.
- 32:54Speaker 3: He's a challenging artist.
- 32:56Speaker 4: But I mean, I'm not denying his skill.
- 32:58Speaker 3: Oh no, he's talented, but he's an artist. He has
- 33:01Speaker 3: amazing ideas. He rubs people the wrong way, like many
- 33:04Speaker 3: artists do.
- 33:04Speaker 4: But it's just getting to the point, and I'm just like, dude,
- 33:10Speaker 4: can I fast forward this book a little bit?
- 33:12Speaker 3: I mean, you can flip the pages. Maybe you can
- 33:15Speaker 3: draw a little Pennywise cartoon in the corner. That'd be
- 33:18Speaker 3: kind of cool.
- 33:19Speaker 4: I feel like I'm cheating, and I don't like that.
- 33:21Speaker 4: When it comes to books, I'm very weird. I'm like,
- 33:24Speaker 4: I mean, every once in a while I'll skip to
- 33:25Speaker 4: the end and I gotta know how it's gonna end,
- 33:28Speaker 4: you know? But I'll go back and I want to
- 33:32Speaker 4: read how it gets there. This one, I'm just like,
- 33:34Speaker 4: oh my god, where's the Cliff Notes version?
- 33:37Speaker 3: Spoiler for yourself.
- 33:38Speaker 4: I don't even care. I love spoilers. I will spoil
- 33:40Speaker 4: shit for myself all damn day.
- 33:44Speaker 3: Oh, you're doing it wrong.
- 33:45Speaker 4: I usually am. Did you watch anything else? Or did
- 33:49Speaker 4: we finish talking about yours before I entered my book? No,
- 33:52Speaker 4: that was.
- 33:56Speaker 3: Pennywise?
- 33:58Speaker 4: I'm not going to lie. I knew Pennywise was hot.
- 34:01Speaker 4: Not when he's Pennywise, but Bill Skarsgård. I can't say
- 34:04Speaker 4: his name. I feel awkward.
- 34:05Speaker 3: Skarsgård.
- 34:06Speaker 4: Is that right? It's probably wrong.
- 34:08Speaker 3: Isn't he the one in Thor? There's a lot of
- 34:12Speaker 3: Skarsgårds out there.
- 34:14Speaker 4: I think it's related.
- 34:15Speaker 3: Some sort of Norse thing going on.
- 34:16Speaker 2: Who knows?
- 34:19Speaker 4: All right.
- 34:19Speaker 3: Well, I think that's a good way to ease our
- 34:22Speaker 3: way in here anyway because we have A movie this week.
- 34:25Speaker 4: We do.
- 34:25Speaker 3: So I say we take our break. And when we
- 34:27Speaker 3: come back, we will discuss this week's movie.
- 34:30Speaker 4: That I picked.
- 34:53Speaker 9: P-P-Control Yellow, you misunderstood. You were nine sats, fella, psych, psych.
- 34:57Speaker 9: Look at your clothes, you look dumb with them. How
- 34:59Speaker 9: the hell you a desert clown but with no rhythm?
- 35:01Speaker 8: Mira, pero no me importa.
- 35:03Speaker 9: You ain't gonna see me on a missing poster. So
- 35:06Speaker 9: let me get the W with a quick uppercut. Trust me,
- 35:09Speaker 9: you'll float too.
- 35:19Speaker 1: Golden, pure, creamery butter. Rich, flavorful, satisfying. That's what it
- 35:23Speaker 1: takes for the finest buttered popcorn, and that's what we use.
- 35:26Speaker 1: See for yourself why there's no showtime treat to equal
- 35:29Speaker 1: the crisp, delicious flavor of hot popcorn that's bathed in
- 35:32Speaker 1: real melted butter. It's at the concession stand now.
- 35:37Speaker 6: Murder by invitation.
- 35:41Speaker 1: It won't be long now, and such a fine date
- 35:47Speaker 1: for murder, too.
- 35:49Speaker 7: Frightened?
- 35:51Speaker 3: That's good. First, I want you to.
- 35:55Speaker 4: Know I brought you here for a purpose.
- 35:58Speaker 6: The fact remains that sooner or later I'll leave this
- 36:00Speaker 6: veil of tears and laughter.
- 36:04Speaker 9: And when I do, I leave $ 3 million.
- 36:06Speaker 6: $ 3 million.
- 36:09Speaker 9: Not bad, but I wonder who'll be left to collect it.
- 36:13Speaker 7: Well, here we go.
- 36:18Speaker 6: I grabbed my pistol out of that drawer.
- 36:20Speaker 1: Then what?
- 36:21Speaker 10: And I pointed right at the door, and I said,
- 36:22Speaker 10: come out of there, and I'll shoot.
- 36:24Speaker 4: But they didn't come out.
- 36:25Speaker 1: So I went over to the door like this, and
- 36:27Speaker 1: I pulled it wide open.
- 36:29Speaker 10: In the meantime, dear audience, pleasant dreams. is what I
- 36:48Speaker 10: want you to do.
- 36:54Speaker 2: Just loan me two dollars.
- 36:56Speaker 1: Until the next time I see you.
- 37:04Speaker 10: These last two dollars.
- 37:07Speaker 3: Last two dollars.
- 37:08Speaker 10: I'm not going to lose.
- 37:10Speaker 3: Not going to lose.
- 37:11Speaker 4: These last two dollars.
- 37:12Speaker 8: Last two dollars.
- 37:14Speaker 2: I'm not going to lose.
- 37:15Speaker 10: Not going to lose.
- 37:17Speaker 3: One's going for my bus fare.
- 37:19Speaker 2: Other one for the jukebox.
- 37:22Speaker 8: To hear me some blues.
- 37:25Speaker 2: Gotta hear me some blues.
- 37:27Speaker 3: Tell me when I'm coming to your city.
- 37:28Speaker 4: Exactly. All the cities.
- 37:30Speaker 2: All the cities.
- 37:31Speaker 3: Then we can go to all the shows.
- 37:32Speaker 4: Not all the shows because some of them are just
- 37:33Speaker 4: too far away.
- 37:34Speaker 3: They're going to get us a Learjet. They're going to
- 37:36Speaker 3: get us some of the shows. They're going to get
- 37:38Speaker 3: us a Learjet. The Meltdown machine. We've got the band version,
- 37:42Speaker 3: so now we're going to branch out into the Rockstar
- 37:46Speaker 3: Learjet version. That's happening. You just wait.
- 37:50Speaker 1: Yeah, okay.
- 37:51Speaker 2: I'm waiting.
- 37:52Speaker 3: Send in your $ 2 now, people. By the way, is
- 37:56Speaker 3: that too much to ask?
- 37:58Speaker 8: $ 2.
- 37:59Speaker 3: You're killing us.
- 38:00Speaker 4: $ 1. 50. $ 3. 50? $ 3. 50?
- 38:04Speaker 3: No, I don't even ask $ 3.
- 38:05Speaker 4: 50.
- 38:06Speaker 3: All I gotta do is give me $ 2 and then
- 38:09Speaker 3: they can have exclusive episodes. And they can go back
- 38:13Speaker 3: and listen to all the other exclusive episodes. They can
- 38:15Speaker 3: get the future. You're part of the club, for God's sakes.
- 38:18Speaker 4: We take care of our club members.
- 38:20Speaker 3: We might even give you a t-shirt. You might just
- 38:22Speaker 3: kick in a couple extra bucks, but new fancy t-shirts.
- 38:27Speaker 3: It really would be nice if people would support the
- 38:29Speaker 3: show because I can't do this going in the hole, people.
- 38:34Speaker 3: Somebody's got to keep this going. I need a show
- 38:36Speaker 3: of faith. I need you to go to patreon.com. Just
- 38:41Speaker 3: go to the link right on the movie meltdown.com webpage.
- 38:46Speaker 3: Kick in some cash. Keep the show rolling. Damn the man.
- 38:50Speaker 3: Save the meltdown.
- 38:52Speaker 1: Fuckin' A.
- 38:53Speaker 9: But these last two dollars, I'm.
- 38:57Speaker 10: Not gonna lose. These last two dollars, I'm not gonna lose.
- 39:11Speaker 3: Hi, I'm Mick Garrison. You're listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 39:26Speaker 2: It's time for Sofa Theater.
- 39:32Speaker 4: God, this thing is so official.
- 39:35Speaker 8: Maybe they're overcompensating. It's kind of hard to call everybody
- 39:38Speaker 8: up out of the blue after two years. I'm so
- 39:44Speaker 8: glad you're here.
- 39:45Speaker 3: We've got a lot to talk about. So much to
- 39:47Speaker 3: celebrate tonight.
- 39:48Speaker 8: Each and every one of us is on a journey
- 39:52Speaker 8: And we feel that it's important to be on that
- 39:55Speaker 8: journey with the people you love.
- 39:59Speaker 3: Everybody, this is my friend Pruitt.
- 40:08Speaker 8: Far as on windows and no?
- 40:10Speaker 11: Security.
- 40:10Speaker 8: It's safer. You've been acting so suspicious of our hospitality.
- 40:18Speaker 4: Well.
- 40:19Speaker 3: Jesus.
- 40:26Speaker 4: Has he been like this a lot?
- 40:29Speaker 8: So agitated?
- 40:32Speaker 4: How has he been handling things?
- 40:34Speaker 8: He can be self-destructive. I think he's doing the best
- 40:38Speaker 8: he can.
- 40:38Speaker 10: Something doesn't feel safe here.
- 40:45Speaker 2: We don't see you for two years and then all
- 40:47Speaker 2: of a sudden we get invited to this lavish dinner.
- 40:51Speaker 8: Don't tell me that this is normal. What do you
- 40:56Speaker 8: think is happening, Will? This beautiful moment is upon us.
- 41:02Speaker 8: Tonight is the night our faith is made real.
- 41:05Speaker 4: What is happening?
- 41:22Speaker 5: There's nothing to be afraid of.
- 41:32Speaker 8: You and your.
- 41:52Speaker 6: Hold a strange invitation Somehow it seems We've shared our
- 42:03Speaker 6: dreams But where? Time after time In a room full
- 42:17Speaker 6: of strangers Out of the blue, suddenly you are.
- 42:28Speaker 7: There Wherever I go, you're the glow.
- 42:39Speaker 6: Of temptation glancing my way.
- 42:50Speaker 10: In the gray of the dawn.
- 42:58Speaker 6: And always your eyes smile that strange invitation.
- 43:07Speaker 3: Then All right, this week's Sofa Theater feature is The Invitation.
- 43:22Speaker 3: The year is 2015. The director is Karen Kusama, and
- 43:26Speaker 3: the plot, according to IMDb, while attending a dinner party
- 43:30Speaker 3: at his former home, a man thinks his ex-wife and
- 43:33Speaker 3: her new husband have sinister intentions for their guests. Spoiler alert.
- 43:40Speaker 3: We are going to spoil the hell out of this,
- 43:42Speaker 3: and you can definitely spoil this one, so... Fair warning.
- 43:45Speaker 4: It doesn't take much to spoil this one.
- 43:47Speaker 3: Well, it's all in one point. It's all up in
- 43:51Speaker 3: the air for two-thirds of the movie, and then like,
- 43:54Speaker 3: oh no, okay, that's where we're going. Just making sure.
- 43:57Speaker 3: And we're there.
- 43:59Speaker 4: I had heard many things about this movie. It was
- 44:00Speaker 4: on many lists of some of the best movies on Netflix.
- 44:03Speaker 4: So I'm like, okay, I'll give it a shot. I
- 44:05Speaker 4: love movies. I love lists. So I'm like, I'll check
- 44:09Speaker 4: this motherfucker out. And yeah, it was one of those random...
- 44:14Speaker 4: brian's like hey we need to do a movie and
- 44:16Speaker 4: i'm like okay you didn't like any of my other
- 44:18Speaker 4: suggestions so this was.
- 44:19Speaker 3: It i didn't have a problem with any of your
- 44:21Speaker 3: suggestions we just need to narrow it down and we
- 44:23Speaker 3: picked one and i kept going is that that 80s
- 44:26Speaker 3: movie i think that's like the initiation or some other
- 44:29Speaker 3: there's a bunch of other movies that i kept mixing
- 44:31Speaker 3: it up with so this was one i thought i
- 44:34Speaker 3: knew the title and then once i got into the
- 44:36Speaker 3: description and then started watching i'm like no This is
- 44:38Speaker 3: a totally different movie.
- 44:39Speaker 4: This is not at all. Did you know anything about
- 44:40Speaker 4: this movie before you started watching?
- 44:41Speaker 3: No, which is kind of interesting going into this one
- 44:44Speaker 3: kind of blind because you don't really know what you're
- 44:47Speaker 3: getting yourself into.
- 44:48Speaker 4: Even halfway through.
- 44:48Speaker 3: Much like the people. Yeah, it's like you really don't
- 44:51Speaker 3: know what you're getting into. Yeah.
- 44:54Speaker 4: I spent half the movie going, hey, is that Tom Hardy? Wait, no,
- 44:58Speaker 4: that's not Tom Hardy. Because it looks like a bastard
- 45:01Speaker 4: combination of Tom Hardy with a tiny bit of Jason
- 45:04Speaker 4: Momoa thrown in.
- 45:06Speaker 3: But it's not. Who, Jesus?
- 45:09Speaker 4: Dude. I don't even like beards in that guy.
- 45:11Speaker 3: Dude was rocking the Jesus look.
- 45:13Speaker 4: What are you talking about? Something Logan Mitchell Green. Is
- 45:17Speaker 4: that right? Or am I totally fucking that shit up?
- 45:20Speaker 3: Invitation.
- 45:22Speaker 4: If you even Google that guy's name and Tom Hardy,
- 45:25Speaker 4: there are so many side-by-side comparisons of everybody else who
- 45:28Speaker 4: thinks they look the same.
- 45:30Speaker 3: I didn't think he looked that much. I can see
- 45:32Speaker 3: it when people point it out, but in general, I
- 45:34Speaker 3: didn't think that. He is trying hard to be Jesus.
- 45:38Speaker 4: Logan Mitchell. Logan Marshall Green.
- 45:40Speaker 3: Sorry, Logan Marshall Green. What was more weird, because most
- 45:47Speaker 3: of the other cast I don't really know, but then
- 45:49Speaker 3: it got through and that's what was weird is I
- 45:51Speaker 3: didn't pick this movie and I didn't know anything about
- 45:53Speaker 3: it going in, specifically cast. Midway in it's like, oh,
- 45:57Speaker 3: John Carroll Lynch. Hey, he's about to be on the show.
- 46:00Speaker 3: I had no idea.
- 46:01Speaker 12: Is he?
- 46:01Speaker 3: So yeah, he's soon to be guest on the show.
- 46:04Speaker 3: So that'll be interesting because now I can talk about
- 46:07Speaker 3: it with him too. But yeah, I didn't know what
- 46:11Speaker 3: to expect going into this. And then we get to
- 46:13Speaker 3: our little opening there and we get coyote murder and
- 46:17Speaker 3: that's it's a disturbing opening but it does kind of
- 46:21Speaker 3: set that tone of where we're going and then i
- 46:24Speaker 3: again like she does do a great job directing wise
- 46:27Speaker 3: because even like going out of that creepy intro and
- 46:30Speaker 3: into like the the titles themselves are just kind of
- 46:34Speaker 3: creepy like it's already like an it's it's kind of
- 46:37Speaker 3: back to our last movie.
- 46:39Speaker 4: February not february february The Black Coat's Daughter.
- 46:42Speaker 3: Black Coat's Daughter, yeah. It's kind of that same thing
- 46:45Speaker 3: where it's all tone for that first two-thirds of it especially.
- 46:50Speaker 3: I was thinking that as I was watching. I was like,
- 46:53Speaker 3: once again, tone is so much of the drive of
- 46:57Speaker 3: this movie. The basic... we're pretty sure there's something creepy
- 47:02Speaker 3: going on the uneasiness of these characters with each other
- 47:06Speaker 3: and then the way that it makes us uneasy watching
- 47:08Speaker 3: it like if you didn't have that if it was
- 47:10Speaker 3: just laid out as a generic drama and these same
- 47:13Speaker 3: things were going on I think you'd be bored as
- 47:16Speaker 3: hell like cause that's the thing as I get into
- 47:18Speaker 3: it I'm like I don't know that I like a
- 47:20Speaker 3: lot of these people like I don't think I would
- 47:23Speaker 3: it's funny this was described as a the subgenre is
- 47:26Speaker 3: the dinner party from hell and I'm just like these
- 47:30Speaker 3: people I don't know that I would want to hang
- 47:32Speaker 3: out with a lot of these people.
- 47:33Speaker 4: There's a few.
- 47:34Speaker 3: But most of them, I'm kind of like, eh. I'm
- 47:38Speaker 3: not so thrilled with some of these people.
- 47:39Speaker 4: I wouldn't want to hang out with these people. But
- 47:40Speaker 4: the whole thing is it's this dinner party. It's this
- 47:44Speaker 4: guy who's been invited to his wife and her... I
- 47:48Speaker 4: said the house. It said in the description there. The
- 47:51Speaker 4: house that him and his wife lived in. And it's
- 47:54Speaker 4: obvious that something has happened in their past.
- 47:57Speaker 3: But again, you're... two-thirds of the way before you even
- 48:00Speaker 3: know what that specific thing is.
- 48:02Speaker 4: And it's just, after the event happened, the wife just
- 48:06Speaker 4: disappeared for like two years.
- 48:08Speaker 3: At least two years, and that was just, yeah, they
- 48:10Speaker 3: were already not together time before that that we don't
- 48:13Speaker 3: really know an unspecified amount, and then she was just
- 48:16Speaker 3: flat out gone for two years.
- 48:18Speaker 4: And then it's like, so while she was gone, when
- 48:21Speaker 4: she gets back, her and her husband invite all of
- 48:23Speaker 4: their college friends and her friends, and they all go
- 48:26Speaker 4: back to the house, and it's just It's just awkward.
- 48:32Speaker 4: And I'm like, I'm sorry, but no. When me and
- 48:36Speaker 4: Jay got together, his wife, his ex-wife, wanted to do
- 48:39Speaker 4: the whole, let's all get together.
- 48:40Speaker 8: No.
- 48:41Speaker 4: That, yeah, no. It probably would have ended the same.
- 48:44Speaker 3: I'm surprised you haven't killed each other yet, and mostly
- 48:49Speaker 3: you just stabbing her in the head with something.
- 48:52Speaker 4: But yeah, and it's just this slow build. It's a
- 48:55Speaker 4: very slow build.
- 48:56Speaker 3: It is.
- 48:57Speaker 4: Which usually I'm not okay with, but this one actually,
- 48:59Speaker 4: I can't tell. Maybe I was just in the mood
- 49:00Speaker 4: for it.
- 49:01Speaker 3: Again, I think it works because she shoots it well.
- 49:05Speaker 3: It's edited very well. So I think all of that
- 49:08Speaker 3: kind of holds your attention and keeps that tension mounting
- 49:11Speaker 3: the whole time where you're like, because our main guy
- 49:14Speaker 3: the whole time, he's kind of doing your standard like
- 49:18Speaker 3: it's almost a Twilight Zone or it's a Hitchcock. movie
- 49:20Speaker 3: where it's like he's the only one and he's the
- 49:22Speaker 3: only one that feels like there's something wrong there's something
- 49:25Speaker 3: wrong and no one else seems to be admitting it
- 49:28Speaker 3: and no one else wants to go along with him
- 49:30Speaker 3: and so like the whole time you're like well is
- 49:32Speaker 3: he just crazy like is he just picking up on
- 49:35Speaker 3: stuff that's only in his head because he's still kind.
- 49:37Speaker 4: Of Because you're also getting flashbacks of when he lived
- 49:41Speaker 4: there with her and their life, and then you start
- 49:43Speaker 4: getting more into what happened. And then you're like, what happened?
- 49:49Speaker 4: Did that fuck his shit up so bad that he
- 49:51Speaker 4: is just not right?
- 49:52Speaker 3: Because again, that first one, you don't even know because
- 49:57Speaker 3: we don't know what the situation is. So that second
- 50:00Speaker 3: when he walks up to the door and he looks
- 50:02Speaker 3: through the window and sees the kid sitting there playing
- 50:04Speaker 3: with the dinosaurs and the crayons and everything that first
- 50:07Speaker 3: time through, I'm like, I assume there was a kid
- 50:09Speaker 3: in there. And it's like, it was only later. I'm like,
- 50:11Speaker 3: Oh yeah, we had that flash earlier. That wasn't even real.
- 50:14Speaker 3: Like he was looking in there and seeing something from
- 50:17Speaker 3: his own past, but like, we didn't even know that
- 50:20Speaker 3: yet because we didn't even know there was a backstory.
- 50:23Speaker 3: We're just getting, again, it's, it's really clever editing. Like
- 50:25Speaker 3: I like the way she puts this together and, as
- 50:27Speaker 3: far as just structuring and editing. And like, it does
- 50:30Speaker 3: that little kind of maneuver and it does a few
- 50:32Speaker 3: more that it starts cutting in later that like give
- 50:36Speaker 3: you these hints of like why the relationship's so messed up.
- 50:40Speaker 3: So I don't, and again, that wife, the ex-wife is insane.
- 50:45Speaker 3: Like even before we realized she's insane, she's so creepy.
- 50:50Speaker 3: There's just something off about her and everybody kind of
- 50:54Speaker 3: knows it. And that's the part that gets frustrating is,
- 50:56Speaker 3: The more and more he talks to people, the more
- 50:57Speaker 3: and more they're all like, yeah, she's messed up. But,
- 51:00Speaker 3: you know, they're all kind of like, yeah, whatever.
- 51:02Speaker 4: It's California.
- 51:03Speaker 3: That's the way people are.
- 51:04Speaker 4: Well, that's just they think that's how her way of
- 51:06Speaker 4: dealing with the situation was.
- 51:07Speaker 3: Denial.
- 51:08Speaker 4: You know, because here's the guy who's obviously fallen apart
- 51:11Speaker 4: and he's still falling apart.
- 51:13Speaker 11: And.
- 51:13Speaker 4: There is no unfalling apart for him. He's gonna spend
- 51:16Speaker 4: probably the rest of his life falling apart.
- 51:18Speaker 3: Rightfully so.
- 51:19Speaker 4: And he's getting pissed and angry.
- 51:21Speaker 3: Most people do not recover from losing a child. I
- 51:25Speaker 3: think you can go Google the statistics, but I'm like,
- 51:28Speaker 3: almost every marriage where they lose the child, specifically if
- 51:32Speaker 3: it's their only child, falls apart. There's no coming back
- 51:36Speaker 3: from that. There's no having a functional relationship between the
- 51:39Speaker 3: two of you anymore anymore. When you became this trio
- 51:42Speaker 3: or this family unit and then this kid is taken
- 51:45Speaker 3: from you. So that part is real. Couples just don't
- 51:49Speaker 3: survive that.
- 51:49Speaker 4: And it's just him getting pissed because she's found her peace.
- 51:52Speaker 4: According to her, she's found her peace and she's found
- 51:56Speaker 4: her happiness. And she's found this answer. This answer to
- 52:01Speaker 4: her depression and her pain. And all her pain is
- 52:04Speaker 4: gone now because of this answer she found. And he's
- 52:06Speaker 4: just like... very suspicious of it. And everybody else is
- 52:09Speaker 4: just like, hey, whoa. Everybody does their own thing. And
- 52:14Speaker 4: he gets further into it and it's like, there's this
- 52:18Speaker 4: scene where he loses his shit. Yeah.
- 52:21Speaker 3: But it is one of those, again, that's part of
- 52:23Speaker 3: this nice little balance that they're playing with here is
- 52:26Speaker 3: that it's also that game of how much do you
- 52:33Speaker 3: let slide out of generic, like, It's just good manners.
- 52:38Speaker 3: As much as I have issues with a lot of
- 52:40Speaker 3: what goes on in funny games, it's the same thing
- 52:42Speaker 3: that's sort of built on that scenario is how long,
- 52:46Speaker 3: even when you feel like something is, is uneasy. If
- 52:50Speaker 3: you feel like something's not right in this situation because
- 52:53Speaker 3: of the social contract that we have of just like, no, no,
- 52:57Speaker 3: just everybody, you know, stay on good terms. Just don't
- 53:00Speaker 3: rock the boat. Don't upset everybody. Like, it's one of
- 53:03Speaker 3: those things that like, if you have the right person
- 53:06Speaker 3: in the right scenario, they can continually push that and
- 53:08Speaker 3: be like, well, okay, they already aren't feeling right. How
- 53:11Speaker 3: about if I try this? How about if I do this?
- 53:12Speaker 3: How about if I say this? Like you get your
- 53:15Speaker 3: antagonist that's kind of continually like needling at you is like,
- 53:20Speaker 3: this seems uneasy. Let me see if I can push
- 53:22Speaker 3: a little further. And that a lot of what goes
- 53:24Speaker 3: on here is just like, it continues to mount and
- 53:27Speaker 3: more and more. You're just like, but no, if, if
- 53:29Speaker 3: all of this happened at once, you'd call bullshit. But
- 53:31Speaker 3: because it's just sort of, slow and everybody else keeps
- 53:35Speaker 3: going along and be like oh yeah that's crazy and
- 53:37Speaker 3: just sort of shrugs it off you're just like oh
- 53:39Speaker 3: well okay i guess we're letting this go huh okay
- 53:43Speaker 3: so it's a fun little balance there where they're just
- 53:45Speaker 3: like that that social niceties bullshit comes into play where
- 53:49Speaker 3: you're like how long do you let this ride until
- 53:52Speaker 3: it's gone too far.
- 53:52Speaker 8: Jesus sorry you scared me.
- 53:59Speaker 4: No harm done.
- 54:02Speaker 8: You're so handsome tonight. You're shiny. And Kiera, you're.
- 54:09Speaker 5: Both really beautiful.
- 54:12Speaker 8: Thank you. Could you help me get those glasses, please?
- 54:27Speaker 8: Bars on the windows and no? Well, I was here alone.
- 54:32Speaker 1: For a while.
- 54:34Speaker 3: Security. It's safer.
- 54:38Speaker 8: It's nice.
- 54:43Speaker 4: Thank you. We got them in Mexico.
- 54:46Speaker 8: Is that where you've been for the last two years?
- 54:49Speaker 3: Some of the time.
- 54:54Speaker 5: Did you worry about me?
- 54:55Speaker 3: Did you think about me?
- 54:57Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 55:00Speaker 2: I did.
- 55:03Speaker 3: Well, I'm fantastic.
- 55:06Speaker 8: I've never been better. You don't have to worry about
- 55:08Speaker 8: me anymore.
- 55:10Speaker 3: And I will say, there is one in the bunch.
- 55:11Speaker 3: I like Kira.
- 55:13Speaker 4: She's a partier.
- 55:15Speaker 3: Not her.
- 55:16Speaker 4: Which one's Kira?
- 55:17Speaker 3: Kira's the new girlfriend, right?
- 55:19Speaker 4: Oh yeah, Kira's the new girlfriend.
- 55:20Speaker 3: I was thinking Kira. Not the crackhead girl.
- 55:22Speaker 4: I was thinking the Asian lady.
- 55:24Speaker 3: Oh no, she's alright. Again, she was one of those
- 55:27Speaker 3: I'm just like, she's just people you would see at
- 55:32Speaker 3: one of these dinner parties.
- 55:33Speaker 4: Most of the people there. That's the thing.
- 55:34Speaker 12: They're all kind of that bullshit like, hey, we all
- 55:38Speaker 12: hung out in college and let's do some cocaine and
- 55:41Speaker 12: let's kiss each other even though we're not in relationships
- 55:44Speaker 12: because we think that's racy.
- 55:46Speaker 4: I'm like, oh, not really, really.
- 55:47Speaker 3: It's kind of boring and stupid.
- 55:48Speaker 4: Again, it's pushing to see what you get away with.
- 55:50Speaker 3: Again, yeah, it's riding that line but it's almost that
- 55:53Speaker 3: bullshit version of him. Just like, you're not going to
- 55:55Speaker 3: go through with this, but you think you're being edgy,
- 55:57Speaker 3: but it's kind of a bullshit move. So, I don't know.
- 56:00Speaker 3: People that like to play that game and act like they're, like,
- 56:02Speaker 3: super cool and pushing the envelope of things that are crazy.
- 56:06Speaker 3: I'm like, no, they're not. You're not doing anything crazy.
- 56:08Speaker 3: It gets to crazy. You want to see crazy, you
- 56:11Speaker 3: just wait. But, yeah, that kind of, again, that, we're
- 56:15Speaker 3: so cool, but, like, most of that group just kind
- 56:17Speaker 3: of gets on my nerves.
- 56:19Speaker 2: So.
- 56:20Speaker 3: We did, the one, there was a real world story
- 56:24Speaker 3: that tied in. The girl that shows up with him,
- 56:27Speaker 3: the girl that they met in Mexico. Yeah. From that
- 56:31Speaker 3: first second she comes in the room, it's like, ooh, crazy. Like,
- 56:34Speaker 3: she points to that actress because either she's really crazy
- 56:39Speaker 3: or she knows how to do, like, I mean, there's
- 56:41Speaker 3: just that basic crazy ass.
- 56:42Speaker 4: She has the full on crazy.
- 56:44Speaker 3: When you've got, because I've met people in the real
- 56:46Speaker 3: world and I'm like, I will call it from day one.
- 56:48Speaker 3: I'll be like, nope, look at that. motherfucker's crazy and
- 56:51Speaker 3: then like time will go on and i will be
- 56:53Speaker 3: proven right and i'm like nope i'm sticking with my
- 56:55Speaker 3: gut yeah i can call crazy when i see it
- 56:58Speaker 3: so like that lady like soon as she walked in
- 57:01Speaker 3: again maybe she's just a massively impressive actress but crazy eyes.
- 57:06Speaker 4: So and shows up her first screen naked yeah.
- 57:09Speaker 3: Has no problem with like wanting to be naked all
- 57:11Speaker 3: the time And bringing it up once again. I'm so crazy.
- 57:13Speaker 3: I do that in Mexico all the time. Shut up.
- 57:15Speaker 3: Just like you're not cool. Just stop pretending like somehow
- 57:18Speaker 3: being naked makes you cool. Like nobody cares. So the
- 57:22Speaker 3: thing that reminded me of though, and this was the thing,
- 57:24Speaker 3: the day before, no, like two days before I watched this,
- 57:29Speaker 3: I'm at a gas station when we actually stopped at
- 57:32Speaker 3: in the middle of this crazy road trip down the road.
- 57:35Speaker 3: And there's this woman like pulling in, In the car
- 57:40Speaker 3: with someone else.
- 57:40Speaker 4: That she had on pants.
- 57:42Speaker 3: She at least, at the moment, she had on pants.
- 57:45Speaker 3: But she's standing in the middle of the parking lot.
- 57:47Speaker 3: And the oh-so-couth person I was in the car with goes,
- 57:52Speaker 3: get the hell out of the road, crack whore. Yes,
- 57:55Speaker 3: these are the kind of people I'm forced to be
- 57:56Speaker 3: around all the time. But he made a right call.
- 58:00Speaker 3: She is just super fucking crack cave. So this woman, like,
- 58:05Speaker 3: you could see it in her eyes. Like, not only
- 58:07Speaker 3: does she have crazy eyes, but she also, her eyes look, like,
- 58:10Speaker 3: coked out. Like, she looks like she's insane. So she
- 58:13Speaker 3: goes on to prove me right. Once again, she's walking around,
- 58:17Speaker 3: and she keeps, like, at first she's trying to stop everybody,
- 58:20Speaker 3: and I assume she's just sort of bumming for money,
- 58:22Speaker 3: like most people loitering outside of gas stations do.
- 58:25Speaker 4: And conventions.
- 58:26Speaker 3: But she, I ended up, like, not getting whatever she
- 58:31Speaker 3: was asking, selling because somebody else got in front of
- 58:33Speaker 3: me and they got it and I just kept walking
- 58:35Speaker 3: to the other side of the parking lot but the
- 58:36Speaker 3: other guy I was with was just like yeah she
- 58:39Speaker 3: she walked up to me as I was coming out
- 58:40Speaker 3: and went did you know riding in cars will make
- 58:43Speaker 3: your neck hurt or something to that effect yeah but
- 58:48Speaker 3: then proceeded to then like lean over with her head
- 58:52Speaker 3: almost all the way to the ground and start whipping
- 58:54Speaker 3: her head back and forth and he's like what you
- 58:58Speaker 3: getting points to him for his response was like Yeah, yeah, no, yeah.
- 59:03Speaker 3: And like totally agreed with her and then went on
- 59:05Speaker 3: about his business. But as we're sitting there, like we're
- 59:08Speaker 3: waiting before we leave and watching her and she goes
- 59:12Speaker 3: to every single person filling up and again they're out
- 59:15Speaker 3: at their car like filling up the tank like they're
- 59:17Speaker 3: actually like doing something she keeps approaching them and I've
- 59:20Speaker 3: seen that scenario. It's usually asking for money. Every time
- 59:23Speaker 3: she went up, and I'm assuming she was saying the
- 59:25Speaker 3: same thing, and would then lean over and start flinging
- 59:28Speaker 3: her head up and down, whipping her hair back and forth.
- 59:32Speaker 4: She's a big fan of Willow Smith.
- 59:34Speaker 3: Somehow that's going to fix her broken neck? I don't know.
- 59:37Speaker 3: The best part, though, is at one point she comes over,
- 59:39Speaker 3: and there wasn't anybody at this. There was an open tank, basically.
- 59:43Speaker 3: So she leans over. She actually puts her head on
- 59:47Speaker 3: the concrete and starts almost like half doing like a headstand.
- 59:51Speaker 3: Like she's just shoving her head into the concrete. And
- 59:55Speaker 3: I'm just like, that's all I could be reminded of
- 59:58Speaker 3: when I watched that girl in there. Like that level
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: of crazy. I'm like, she is one tweak away from
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: that chick at the gas station.
- 1:00:05Speaker 4: Yeah, no shit.
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: It's that level of crazy when it's in her eyes.
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: So once again, impressive acting or that woman is legitimately crazy.
- 1:00:12Speaker 4: Yes, she was. There were some scenes in here that
- 1:00:15Speaker 4: were just so well shot. That's what impressed me because
- 1:00:17Speaker 4: usually I don't notice things like that. I'm usually just
- 1:00:19Speaker 4: like all about what's going on. I don't really notice
- 1:00:21Speaker 4: specific scenes or the way they're shot. But I don't
- 1:00:24Speaker 4: know if you remember the scene where the guy is
- 1:00:26Speaker 4: coming up the stairs and like fake Tom Hardy and
- 1:00:30Speaker 4: his girlfriend are like on the other side of the stairs.
- 1:00:33Speaker 4: Like that right there was impressive to me because you'd
- 1:00:35Speaker 4: be like as you see him because the guy's coming
- 1:00:37Speaker 4: up towards the camera. But it's like one of those
- 1:00:39Speaker 4: weird stairs where there's floor and you're behind on the
- 1:00:41Speaker 4: other side of the stairs. The way that shot was
- 1:00:44Speaker 4: set up was like... Usually I don't notice those things,
- 1:00:47Speaker 4: and for it to actually stick in my big old
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: thick lunk of a head, it says something.
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: Yeah, a lot of that stuff. Again, the weird little
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: cut that she was doing when he was having his breakdown,
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: when he ended up screaming at the table, but he
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: wasn't really screaming at the table. Just the way that
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: was cut, and then in her cut with flashback scenes,
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: and then what was going on in the dinner party.
- 1:01:08Speaker 4: Again, just.
- 1:01:10Speaker 3: Really impressive work directing, and it had actually been a
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: long time since she'd done a movie. I think she
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: did Eon Flux, and she did Girl Fight, and she'd
- 1:01:20Speaker 3: done several other movies, but it had been like a
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: seven-year span or something since she's directed, and this is
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: certainly a darker road than she'd been down in the past.
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: So I kind of like this move, so I'm hoping
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: we get more out of this director.
- 1:01:34Speaker 4: But yeah, the whole time you're just questioning... You're not
- 1:01:36Speaker 4: only questioning what the main character's seeing, but you're questioning
- 1:01:40Speaker 4: what you think's going on. Because you're like, even you're like,
- 1:01:43Speaker 4: all right, is he legit crazy? Are they for real
- 1:01:47Speaker 4: out to get him? And then there's the scene where
- 1:01:50Speaker 4: it kind of starts to turn a little bit.
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: Well, you get by the time the first girl leaves.
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: Like you're watching this and you're like.
- 1:02:00Speaker 4: But did she really?
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: Well. She left the room.
- 1:02:03Speaker 4: She left the house.
- 1:02:04Speaker 3: We're pretty sure she didn't leave the property. And that's
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: the moment when you're like, okay, now you're kind of
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: watching things from his perspective and then you've got your
- 1:02:16Speaker 3: other characters in the room distracting him so that there's
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: things going on outside of the house now. And we're
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: filling in the blank. So again, that's a good thriller,
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: horror kind of movie, is when you're already kind of
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: building your own story from what's not on screen right now,
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: and it's possibly more horrifying than what may come, which
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: is still pretty damn horrifying as it goes on.
- 1:02:37Speaker 4: Because they get to the point where, early on, they
- 1:02:39Speaker 4: get to where it starts getting more creepy.
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:02:42Speaker 4: When they bring out the.
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: The video?
- 1:02:44Speaker 4: The recruitment video. Because it turns out that this thing
- 1:02:48Speaker 4: is called The Invitation. Which is kind of like a
- 1:02:52Speaker 4: cult thing where people get over their pain and suffering
- 1:02:57Speaker 4: through this cult.
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: On a side note, earlier today we were parked across
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: the street from the Church of Scientology.
- 1:03:04Speaker 4: We were. It was very strange.
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: Just saying.
- 1:03:06Speaker 4: I wonder if Tom Cruise was in there. Tom Cruise
- 1:03:08Speaker 4: in my head is in every Church of Scientology.
- 1:03:10Speaker 3: Maybe there's like a big, do they have like big
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: stained glass? No, I just want like a big stained
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: glass with like Tom Cruise with his arms outstretched in
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: a very Angelic pose.
- 1:03:20Speaker 4: Good possibility.
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: Glowing halo above his head.
- 1:03:22Speaker 4: They're short windows, though.
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: Well, they usually don't have very churchy buildings.
- 1:03:27Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:03:28Speaker 4: But, yeah, when it gets to the point where they
- 1:03:30Speaker 4: show the video and the very awkward.
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: Watching someone die. Yeah.
- 1:03:35Speaker 4: Because that's the whole thing is how she's found peace
- 1:03:38Speaker 4: through death and everything and how she's no longer suffering.
- 1:03:41Speaker 4: And you're like, all right, where are they going with this?
- 1:03:42Speaker 4: Because then you're like, all right, something's definitely not right
- 1:03:45Speaker 4: if that's where they're going. And they're like, Oh, well,
- 1:03:48Speaker 4: we just want you to understand. We want you to
- 1:03:50Speaker 4: understand that there's nothing to be afraid of. And I'm like, yeah,
- 1:03:54Speaker 4: it's going that way, Art. It's going that way. I
- 1:03:56Speaker 4: can feel it because the whole trying to sit. There's
- 1:04:00Speaker 4: nothing to be afraid of. And I'm like, oh, yeah.
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: That's still riding that line, though, because everybody's just like, well,
- 1:04:06Speaker 3: we want to respect their wishes. And everybody's still like.
- 1:04:09Speaker 4: Except for fake Tom Hardy.
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: Well, yeah, except Jesus.
- 1:04:11Speaker 4: He's like, you're in a fucking cult.
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: Immediately.
- 1:04:14Speaker 4: Immediately. He is having none of their shit, which makes
- 1:04:18Speaker 4: him the bad guy. Yeah.
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: Everybody else is just like, come on, dude. We're having
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: a nice, friendly dinner party here, and you're being a
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: jerk and yelling about things and questioning everything our host
- 1:04:27Speaker 3: is saying and doing. So yeah, if it didn't seem
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: so creepy to us, the viewer, we'd be like, yeah,
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: this guy is kind of being a jackass. If it
- 1:04:36Speaker 3: were a different perspective, you would be like, why is
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: this one guy always causing problems?
- 1:04:41Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:04:42Speaker 3: But, again, we've got mostly his point of view, so
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: we're like, no, no, there's something going on. That ex-wife
- 1:04:48Speaker 3: is super creepy now. Her new boyfriend's super creepy.
- 1:04:51Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: I don't know what's going on here, but.
- 1:04:55Speaker 4: Then you have the mysterious not showed up guy.
- 1:04:57Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:04:58Speaker 4: Which caused its own.
- 1:04:58Speaker 3: There's the red herring there, because that pulls its own
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: little fake out on you.
- 1:05:02Speaker 4: It does. That's what makes you think, oh, no, they're
- 1:05:04Speaker 4: definitely creepy. Oh, wait, no, they're good. Oh, wait, no.
- 1:05:07Speaker 3: Well, then you're like, maybe he is crazy. Like, at
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: that point, you're playing that, no, no, I thought maybe
- 1:05:12Speaker 3: it's possible he could be crazy, but then they seem
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: super creepy, too. And then it's one of those, he
- 1:05:18Speaker 3: gets the message from that guy, and supposedly he's there,
- 1:05:20Speaker 3: and now you're like... well, now the lady who left
- 1:05:23Speaker 3: has disappeared, and now this other guy was already here,
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: and he's disappeared, so suddenly it's becoming clue, and bodies
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: are piling up in the next room, and then they
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: pull the double switcheroo, and they're like, oh, no, the
- 1:05:33Speaker 3: guy showed up, and then work called, and he had
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: to leave, and so then you, that second, snap back
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: to questioning, okay, well, now, does that mean he is crazy? Like,
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: you really, it does throw your whole perspective out the
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: window for a minute. I was just like, well, no.
- 1:05:46Speaker 4: Because then he thinks he's crazy, so he does the
- 1:05:48Speaker 4: whole apology, and everything changes, they, you know, forgive him
- 1:05:52Speaker 4: and they, everything goes back to like, it's like, okay,
- 1:05:55Speaker 4: all right, we understand, you're our family, we love you,
- 1:05:58Speaker 4: let's just, let's just all sit down and have a
- 1:06:00Speaker 4: little drink of Kool-Aid.
- 1:06:02Speaker 7: Yep.
- 1:06:03Speaker 4: Literally. Yeah, it's just.
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: Everybody else, that's the thing, in their little group though, like,
- 1:06:09Speaker 3: the new boyfriend slash husband is super creepy and then our,
- 1:06:14Speaker 3: the other two that they've got in, the art part
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: of the old college buddies, people like, are both just like,
- 1:06:21Speaker 3: weird and creepy and don't fit the little scenario there.
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: And even our guy calls him out for it. He's
- 1:06:26Speaker 3: just like, what are you two doing here?
- 1:06:27Speaker 4: I like that part. And who are you?
- 1:06:30Speaker 3: Why are you two here? Which is, again, what I'm
- 1:06:33Speaker 3: thinking myself. So I do like that he is sort
- 1:06:35Speaker 3: of the voice of the audience a good portion of
- 1:06:37Speaker 3: the time when somebody needs to call bullshit on this stuff. Like,
- 1:06:40Speaker 3: he's the one doing it. But yeah, that, that ends, that,
- 1:06:43Speaker 3: that kind of turns that like once she's disappeared and
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: once we've had the double fake out, then it's like, okay,
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: we faked you out. We can't keep dragging this on.
- 1:06:51Speaker 3: We've got to hit that turning point. So it is
- 1:06:53Speaker 3: like two thirds of the way in before we get
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: to the final. Okay.
- 1:06:58Speaker 4: Way more than it's like three fourths of the way in.
- 1:07:01Speaker 3: And there's been, there's been so many, there's so many times.
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: And this is what's weird is like in this, Again,
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: I'm just like, I don't go to these dinner parties.
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: I don't hang out with these people. How many times
- 1:07:11Speaker 3: does he break off and go off on his own? Yeah,
- 1:07:14Speaker 3: he's wandering off. He's always standing outside looking at the
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: Hollywood Hills and staring out into space and goes off
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: in bedrooms and is digging in their drawers and stuff.
- 1:07:27Speaker 3: He's just always wandering off by himself. I'm just like,
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: this is a weird party that you can just go off.
- 1:07:32Speaker 4: I guess because he used to live there and they're
- 1:07:33Speaker 4: trying to give him a space. They're trying to let him...
- 1:07:36Speaker 4: kind of like deal with it on his own because
- 1:07:38Speaker 4: he hasn't been back there for like a long time
- 1:07:40Speaker 4: and you know he dealt with a lot of shit
- 1:07:41Speaker 4: there it.
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: Just becomes this like returning thing every few minutes it's
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: like there'll be some sort of weird awkward exchange and
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: he'll be like i gotta get some air like he'll
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: just be off by himself again so there's kind of
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: that last time right before they go to cut the
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: cake that's just like they have some weird little exchange
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: again it was kind of after he blew up and
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: then he goes back outside and he's standing outside again
- 1:08:03Speaker 3: and like finally comes in for that last like okay
- 1:08:06Speaker 3: i was wrong i want to apologize let's all sit
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: down and have some wine and then like it kind
- 1:08:11Speaker 3: of clicks because he watched that other video and like
- 1:08:14Speaker 3: he finally starts deciding that he's not just being paranoid
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: that they they really are trying to kill and.
- 1:08:20Speaker 4: They even try to psych you out again because when
- 1:08:22Speaker 4: he this is again he realizes oh shit it's the
- 1:08:26Speaker 4: kool-aid it's not really kool-aid but in my head.
- 1:08:28Speaker 3: It's the whole super eight million dollar bottles of wine
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: kool-aid yeah.
- 1:08:32Speaker 4: But this is a different one. That's a very ace
- 1:08:33Speaker 4: because they've been drinking the $ 8 million expensive one. This
- 1:08:36Speaker 4: is the special tiny little.
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: Very special.
- 1:08:38Speaker 4: Yeah. And so he loses his goddamn mind. And you're like, seriously,
- 1:08:44Speaker 4: is he right this time?
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: And then crackhead girl loses it, which was Sadie. I
- 1:08:49Speaker 3: double checked.
- 1:08:49Speaker 4: That's Sadie.
- 1:08:50Speaker 3: Sadie loses it and comes after him, just like barreling
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: it like it's a football game. She just like tackles it.
- 1:08:56Speaker 4: She full out crazy heads him. And she is just,
- 1:08:59Speaker 4: you know, and I'm like, all right, whoa whoa whoa
- 1:09:00Speaker 4: next thing you know she's fucking down.
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: Well, I mean, again, if she came running to me
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: like that, my response would be to flip her the
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: hell off of me, which is what he does, which
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: probably would have been fine, but he cracks her head
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: into the corner of a piece of furniture.
- 1:09:13Speaker 4: And then you're like, oh shit, did he just kill
- 1:09:14Speaker 4: this innocent lady?
- 1:09:15Speaker 3: Yeah, kind of. For a minute, you're just like, once again,
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: you're like, oh, oh, no, maybe he is the crazy one.
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: He's the one killing people. Like, he just crossed the
- 1:09:23Speaker 3: line himself. We've been on his side the whole time,
- 1:09:25Speaker 3: but if he's going to start, you know, even accidentally
- 1:09:28Speaker 3: killing people, he's He can't keep being our hero. Like,
- 1:09:31Speaker 3: are we on the wrong side?
- 1:09:32Speaker 4: Which is reminiscent of the story that the other guy told.
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: So it's it. Yeah, it's very reminiscent of his really
- 1:09:39Speaker 3: creepy wife story. So which is a great moment, again,
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: points to him like that scene is great of him.
- 1:09:46Speaker 3: And in that, again, back to that, like, how far
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: can we push it? Like, at what point in a
- 1:09:53Speaker 3: normal life?
- 1:09:55Speaker 4: Social situation i'd have been out of this motherfucker a
- 1:09:57Speaker 4: long ass time.
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: Do you out yourself for murder you know like it's
- 1:10:01Speaker 3: just well above and beyond the norms of a social
- 1:10:05Speaker 3: interaction fun party time like it's just they keep upping
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: it over and over again so yeah by the time
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: he cracks some girl's head open you're just like okay
- 1:10:15Speaker 3: which side am i on now because this is this
- 1:10:17Speaker 3: is all insane So.
- 1:10:20Speaker 4: And then while they're dealing with that, holy shit, look over,
- 1:10:23Speaker 4: Asian girl's foaming at the goddamn mouth. It was the Kool-Aid.
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: She's twitching and going down. She's pretty much out right away, too.
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: So whatever it was, was fast acting.
- 1:10:34Speaker 4: So as we're sitting there, as they're working, they're trying
- 1:10:37Speaker 4: to give her CPR, boyfriend's like, oh, somebody's about to
- 1:10:39Speaker 4: get shot. And I'll be goddamn.
- 1:10:42Speaker 3: And her dude goes and gets a gun, and somebody
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: gets shot.
- 1:10:47Speaker 4: And then somebody else gets shot and then somebody else
- 1:10:49Speaker 4: gets shot.
- 1:10:50Speaker 3: There's some stabbings, there's knives and gunplay. And so there's
- 1:10:56Speaker 3: just running around the house, which to me, there's a moment.
- 1:10:59Speaker 3: And I, I almost, again, because he's so our voice,
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: the whole movie, there's a second when I just kind
- 1:11:05Speaker 3: of wish it would have gone ahead and gotten into
- 1:11:07Speaker 3: the real world. Because it's the kind of stuff we,
- 1:11:10Speaker 3: the audience, are sort of yelling at the screen at
- 1:11:11Speaker 3: that point anyway. No, no. Well, it's after Sadie's already
- 1:11:15Speaker 3: knocked out.
- 1:11:15Speaker 4: Which is my thing. Can I talk about that one
- 1:11:17Speaker 4: real quick?
- 1:11:17Speaker 3: Okay, before. Yeah, go ahead.
- 1:11:18Speaker 4: I'm like, okay, she's sitting there with the thing, with
- 1:11:21Speaker 4: the fire poker, right? Crazy head.
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: Oh, okay, yeah. Before that.
- 1:11:25Speaker 4: Well, she's sitting on the couch.
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:11:27Speaker 4: In pain, suffering. I'm like, all right, is he going
- 1:11:30Speaker 4: to coyote her ass? Because they show this scene in
- 1:11:33Speaker 4: the beginning where he hits the coyote with his car.
- 1:11:36Speaker 4: So in his act of mercy, he puts the coyote
- 1:11:38Speaker 4: out of its misery.
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: With a tire iron.
- 1:11:39Speaker 4: With a tire iron. So I'm like, he's sitting there.
- 1:11:41Speaker 4: She's fucking, obviously looks like she's in pain. He picks
- 1:11:44Speaker 4: up the poker. I'm like, is he going to brain
- 1:11:46Speaker 4: her ass? Is he going to put her out of
- 1:11:48Speaker 4: her misery?
- 1:11:48Speaker 3: Probably should.
- 1:11:49Speaker 4: They gave him all this thing earlier about the compassion
- 1:11:52Speaker 4: and the mercy killing of the coyote.
- 1:11:55Speaker 3: They're all patting him on the back. No, you did
- 1:11:56Speaker 3: the right thing.
- 1:11:57Speaker 4: I'm like, is he going to brain this crazy bitch?
- 1:11:59Speaker 4: And he didn't.
- 1:12:00Speaker 6: Yep.
- 1:12:01Speaker 4: So I'm like, is that his way of like, all right.
- 1:12:04Speaker 4: Bitch is crazy. Let her suffer.
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: But, again, that was my real-world moment of, like, before
- 1:12:09Speaker 3: I even saw her sitting on the couch, when they're, like,
- 1:12:13Speaker 3: it's him and Kira, like, kind of skulking around and
- 1:12:16Speaker 3: trying to, like, hide from people. And, like, I'm assuming
- 1:12:18Speaker 3: at that point I'm thinking, okay, now you're going to
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: get a weapon.
- 1:12:21Speaker 4: Immediately.
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: Like before I ever even saw it, I'm like, you
- 1:12:24Speaker 3: best go get the fireplace poker. Like that's a really
- 1:12:26Speaker 3: nice house. I bet they have fireplaces. There's a poker
- 1:12:29Speaker 3: in there somewhere. If you're in any sort of situation
- 1:12:33Speaker 3: in a thriller slash horror movie, In any movie scenario,
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: what's the weapon you grab first in these movie cliches?
- 1:12:41Speaker 3: You get the poker from the fireplace. That's just, yeah,
- 1:12:44Speaker 3: it's movie 101.
- 1:12:44Speaker 4: But am I the only one who had that thought
- 1:12:45Speaker 4: about this?
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I did too, because I kind of thought that
- 1:12:49Speaker 3: is what they were mimicking, and maybe it was. Maybe
- 1:12:51Speaker 3: it is supposed to be that point, that he did
- 1:12:54Speaker 3: kind of feel bad for the coyote, and that's why
- 1:12:56Speaker 3: he put it down. She's crazy. He did not necessarily
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: feel bad for her, so... As she and her friends
- 1:13:04Speaker 3: are killing everyone that he cared about, it's like maybe
- 1:13:06Speaker 3: he didn't want to put her down. So that's part
- 1:13:09Speaker 3: of that. And then this was right after that, though,
- 1:13:12Speaker 3: because I think he's still holding the fireplace poker, and
- 1:13:15Speaker 3: he and Kira go into the other room, and it's
- 1:13:16Speaker 3: after all of that just went down, and they're still
- 1:13:20Speaker 3: hiding from the new boyfriend and the other guy. There's
- 1:13:24Speaker 3: still a couple of people, but there's that one moment
- 1:13:26Speaker 3: where they close the door and they're in that room
- 1:13:27Speaker 3: by themselves, and I just wanted for a second for
- 1:13:30Speaker 3: him to stop and go.
- 1:13:31Speaker 4: I told you!
- 1:13:32Speaker 3: Like, I just wanted, like, for a minute, that's exactly
- 1:13:35Speaker 3: what I was thinking the whole time.
- 1:13:36Speaker 4: I'm like, see, you were right.
- 1:13:37Speaker 3: You were fucking right. No, just so I wanted him
- 1:13:39Speaker 3: to kind of call it. Because she'd even kind of
- 1:13:41Speaker 3: questioned him. Come on, no, honey, we, you know.
- 1:13:43Speaker 4: She was getting pissed at him for causing a scene.
- 1:13:45Speaker 3: Which she was. You know, again, if the scenario were different,
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: you would kind of be on her side and be like, oh,
- 1:13:50Speaker 3: what is she doing with this guy? But, again, we're
- 1:13:52Speaker 3: seeing it from his perspective the whole time. So I
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: really just kind of wanted a moment of him going, see,
- 1:13:57Speaker 3: it was right.
- 1:13:57Speaker 4: It was totally right. I'm sure there were songs after
- 1:14:00Speaker 4: the movie where that totally happened.
- 1:14:02Speaker 3: There was a cut scene somewhere. They were like, go
- 1:14:04Speaker 3: ahead and try that one. And they were like, no,
- 1:14:05Speaker 3: that just seems selfish. Selfish and indulgent for me, the writer, me,
- 1:14:10Speaker 3: the director. So, I don't know. That was just my take.
- 1:14:13Speaker 3: It was like, he closed that door and I was like, see?
- 1:14:15Speaker 4: I was right.
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: Told you these people are crazy.
- 1:14:19Speaker 4: This is what you get for being friends with your
- 1:14:21Speaker 4: fiancé or boyfriend's crazy ex-wife.
- 1:14:25Speaker 3: Especially when they're culting up the place.
- 1:14:28Speaker 8: What thinks you guys are on pills? Figuratively. You think
- 1:14:34Speaker 8: we're crazy? I never said that.
- 1:14:36Speaker 3: It's okay. I'm not offended. A lot of people think
- 1:14:39Speaker 3: we're crazy.
- 1:14:42Speaker 8: But I doubt they're as happy as we are. Where's
- 1:14:47Speaker 8: the diet again?
- 1:14:54Speaker 4: Why?
- 1:14:54Speaker 8: No comprendo inglés. Thank you.
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: De nada.
- 1:14:58Speaker 8: But don't you guys think this is a little bit weird?
- 1:15:01Speaker 3: Well, there's no way that tonight wasn't going to feel
- 1:15:03Speaker 3: a little strange.
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: Or sad.
- 1:15:08Speaker 8: Look, this is just a long overdue reunion between old friends.
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: With a couple of totally wrecking weirdos.
- 1:15:17Speaker 8: A little mansony. Mansony and skinny ghosts. Hey, I got you.
- 1:15:24Speaker 2: Look at me.
- 1:15:25Speaker 3: Yeah, they're a little weird, but this is L.A.
- 1:15:28Speaker 8: They're harmless.
- 1:15:29Speaker 3: So this was my thing though. As I got into it,
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: like I started thinking, I was just like, Oh Lord. Well, no,
- 1:15:35Speaker 3: this is like a, cause I was just reminding me
- 1:15:37Speaker 3: of all these other movies and I'm like, they're not like, again,
- 1:15:41Speaker 3: the first thing that will come up if you start like,
- 1:15:43Speaker 3: I want to watch more movies about cults. Like it's
- 1:15:45Speaker 3: always going to go straight to the wicker man. Like
- 1:15:48Speaker 3: it's very, and there is sort of a seventies vibe
- 1:15:50Speaker 3: to this as we get into it, because that was
- 1:15:52Speaker 3: sort of the heyday of the cults. That's when, uh,
- 1:15:54Speaker 3: america as a whole kind of went oh this this
- 1:15:57Speaker 3: is a thing like it became a very so when
- 1:16:00Speaker 3: you get to like you know it's kind of that
- 1:16:01Speaker 3: one-two punch of manson and jonestown it's like those both
- 1:16:05Speaker 3: kicked in within a couple of years and they went
- 1:16:07Speaker 3: oh this isn't a joke like people can die large
- 1:16:11Speaker 3: amounts of people can die on one end and people
- 1:16:14Speaker 3: can kill you in your home on the other so
- 1:16:16Speaker 3: it's like this isn't a joke like this is a
- 1:16:19Speaker 3: horrifying thing so in the real world, in the, in
- 1:16:22Speaker 3: the media swept version of this, where they blew it all,
- 1:16:25Speaker 3: you know, probably even more out of proportion than it
- 1:16:27Speaker 3: was like, it like totally took over the country and
- 1:16:31Speaker 3: their weird fascination. But then as time went on, it
- 1:16:34Speaker 3: also became this thing that we then spun off into
- 1:16:37Speaker 3: movies and you get that huge surge in the seventies
- 1:16:41Speaker 3: of cult movies and movies about people getting sucked into
- 1:16:45Speaker 3: cults and then these like secret cults that were going
- 1:16:47Speaker 3: on that people don't realize till the end of the
- 1:16:49Speaker 3: movie so like you know the the go-to for any
- 1:16:51Speaker 3: of those is always like wicker man but i was
- 1:16:53Speaker 3: thinking yeah that was the 70s version but there's such
- 1:16:57Speaker 3: a 2000s version of this like a cult movie renaissance
- 1:17:02Speaker 3: that's kicked in since since the the new millennium here
- 1:17:06Speaker 3: and i started thinking i was like well yeah i
- 1:17:07Speaker 3: just like i really loved uh martha marcy may marlene
- 1:17:12Speaker 3: which again, my beloved Elizabeth Olsen is amazing. Like, and
- 1:17:16Speaker 3: that's like, that's like the serious, like that's the indie
- 1:17:18Speaker 3: movie version of, I was sucked into a cult and
- 1:17:22Speaker 3: now I've escaped and I'm trying to rebuild my life.
- 1:17:25Speaker 3: So you see her kind of like, again, having sort
- 1:17:27Speaker 3: of flashbacks as to like things that were going on
- 1:17:30Speaker 3: there and her trying to like shove herself back into
- 1:17:33Speaker 3: the real world now that she's been like rescued.
- 1:17:35Speaker 4: More or less.
- 1:17:36Speaker 3: But then I was like, well, but wait, what was
- 1:17:38Speaker 3: that other one that came out like right around that
- 1:17:40Speaker 3: same time? So then I've started like doing the rundown
- 1:17:42Speaker 3: and I'm like that same year I saw sound of
- 1:17:45Speaker 3: my voice, which is once again, like this couple gets
- 1:17:48Speaker 3: sort of initiated in and like brought into this cult. And,
- 1:17:53Speaker 3: and Brit Marling is amazing as sort of this cult
- 1:17:56Speaker 3: guru person that's sort of leading them down the path.
- 1:17:59Speaker 3: And then I was like, wait, well, then we just
- 1:18:01Speaker 3: had the sacrament a couple of years ago, which is
- 1:18:03Speaker 3: just straight up Jonestown remake. Like, It starts off like
- 1:18:07Speaker 3: maybe it's a new modern other story, but it is,
- 1:18:10Speaker 3: by the end, it is just full-on Jonestown. So then
- 1:18:13Speaker 3: it's like, I mean, people throw martyrs in there with that,
- 1:18:16Speaker 3: but then I was like, no, Red State is totally that.
- 1:18:18Speaker 3: That's the best movie he's made maybe ever. Get Out
- 1:18:22Speaker 3: is kind of that again. Once again, you're suckered in
- 1:18:25Speaker 3: and you don't think it's that kind of movie, and
- 1:18:27Speaker 3: then it's totally that kind of movie. But there's so
- 1:18:32Speaker 3: many like to the point of like Kill List, the
- 1:18:34Speaker 3: one that we watched that like, again, three fourths of
- 1:18:37Speaker 3: the way in, you think you're watching a different type
- 1:18:39Speaker 3: of movie. And then in the end, you're sucked into
- 1:18:41Speaker 3: that one. So that like there's this weird resurgence of
- 1:18:45Speaker 3: our country and specifically like the indie movie crowd being.
- 1:18:50Speaker 3: obsessed with cults again, so much so. And so mainstream
- 1:18:54Speaker 3: that we have like a series, a comedy series. I mean,
- 1:18:57Speaker 3: the unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is about again, once again, escaping
- 1:19:01Speaker 3: from a cult and being like trying to force yourself
- 1:19:04Speaker 3: back into the real world. And like, it's a comedy show.
- 1:19:07Speaker 3: tv series netflix but still like it's it's weird that
- 1:19:11Speaker 3: it's gotten so mainstream that it's shoved its way into
- 1:19:15Speaker 3: that version of pop culture and sort of an offshoot
- 1:19:17Speaker 3: of the you're gonna get kidnapped and trapped in a
- 1:19:20Speaker 3: room which again we see in like uh i was
- 1:19:25Speaker 3: gonna say 10 cloverfield lane but also um split is
- 1:19:28Speaker 3: straight up that room like so we've got this offshoot
- 1:19:31Speaker 3: of you're also gonna get trapped in a room specifically
- 1:19:33Speaker 3: for your female probably true on many.
- 1:19:36Speaker 4: Occasions it's been my fucking sign to get the fuck
- 1:19:38Speaker 4: out of the house right there in the movie he
- 1:19:40Speaker 4: realizes that they're pretty much trapped in the house because
- 1:19:42Speaker 4: there are bars on every window and the guy has
- 1:19:45Speaker 4: like a locked key to the front door I'd have
- 1:19:48Speaker 4: been like I didn't nope right on out that motherfucker
- 1:19:50Speaker 4: right there I'm like nope I am not gonna feel
- 1:19:52Speaker 4: trapped I am not going to sit here when I'm
- 1:19:54Speaker 4: locked in because the guy had a point.
- 1:19:56Speaker 3: What if there's a fire? That's that first time where
- 1:19:58Speaker 3: he kind of questions things. Everybody's kind of playing nice
- 1:20:00Speaker 3: up to that point. And he's just like, why are
- 1:20:03Speaker 3: you locking the door? Why are you not leaving the
- 1:20:05Speaker 3: key in the door?
- 1:20:06Speaker 4: Well, this is my house now. I do things different.
- 1:20:09Speaker 4: A dog will be leaving your house. You can do
- 1:20:12Speaker 4: things different without me all you want because I will
- 1:20:15Speaker 4: not be locked in a house that I can't get
- 1:20:17Speaker 4: out of. Yep.
- 1:20:18Speaker 3: So that was sort of that first sign that you're like, see,
- 1:20:22Speaker 3: something ain't right here. It's not just that crazy ex-wife.
- 1:20:25Speaker 3: There's something else going on here. And he was right.
- 1:20:27Speaker 4: Neener, neener.
- 1:20:31Speaker 3: That might have been taking it too far if he
- 1:20:32Speaker 3: did neener, neener. So I don't know. I'm just kind
- 1:20:35Speaker 3: of wondering what it is that greenlit that again. I
- 1:20:38Speaker 3: really don't remember a ton of 80s stuff. And even
- 1:20:43Speaker 3: into the 90s, there's a lot of, like, you know,
- 1:20:45Speaker 3: the new slasher thing kicked back in after Scream, but
- 1:20:48Speaker 3: we didn't have tons and tons of cult movies. But
- 1:20:51Speaker 3: 2000s became, like, the time for indie movies to focus
- 1:20:55Speaker 3: on cults.
- 1:20:56Speaker 4: Because they beat everything else to the ground.
- 1:20:59Speaker 3: I guess so.
- 1:21:00Speaker 4: They had to revitalize something, you know?
- 1:21:03Speaker 3: Again, we got so schlocky with our knockoff Scream movies
- 1:21:06Speaker 3: and everything was geared towards teenagers that I guess, like,
- 1:21:09Speaker 3: the indie crowd wanted to be like, Well, no, no,
- 1:21:11Speaker 3: we want to write something a little more subtle, a
- 1:21:13Speaker 3: little more aimed towards adults.
- 1:21:15Speaker 4: Everything goes in waves. It'll be something else next time.
- 1:21:18Speaker 3: The other thing, speaking of waves, the other thing I
- 1:21:20Speaker 3: was thinking is... Sharks? Well, no, I was like, is
- 1:21:22Speaker 3: it because it does seem like the world's falling apart? Like,
- 1:21:26Speaker 3: as we get to the end of this movie, not
- 1:21:28Speaker 3: to jump all the way to the end, but like.
- 1:21:30Speaker 4: Oh, we are jumping all the way to the end.
- 1:21:31Speaker 3: I mean, in that moment, you're just like, at least
- 1:21:34Speaker 3: in this little part of the world, everything's falling apart
- 1:21:37Speaker 3: right now. Like, you're watching whatever this cult was has...
- 1:21:41Speaker 3: integrated into everywhere in the Hollywood Hills, at least. We
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: don't know how far it reaches past that, but so
- 1:21:48Speaker 3: many other things are going on right now at this moment.
- 1:21:51Speaker 4: Because as you reach the end, they finally get out
- 1:21:54Speaker 4: of the house.
- 1:21:55Speaker 8: Yep.
- 1:21:55Speaker 4: And it's like.
- 1:21:56Speaker 3: Well, the new boyfriend dude had gone out right before that.
- 1:21:59Speaker 3: Right before the whole thing went to hell, he went
- 1:22:02Speaker 3: out and lit that little lantern with the red light.
- 1:22:05Speaker 4: And then at the very end, as Will and Kira
- 1:22:09Speaker 4: walk outside... And they're standing there, and they're sitting there,
- 1:22:11Speaker 4: I guess, kind of basking in the, holy shit, we
- 1:22:14Speaker 4: got out of this alive.
- 1:22:15Speaker 3: We're not dead.
- 1:22:16Speaker 4: And then you start hearing the sirens, and there's helicopters.
- 1:22:19Speaker 2: Gunshots.
- 1:22:19Speaker 4: Yeah, the gunshots. And then you look around, and the
- 1:22:22Speaker 4: entire neighborhood, for as far as you can see, is
- 1:22:25Speaker 4: red lanterns. And you're like, how far has this spread?
- 1:22:29Speaker 4: Is it just this community? Is it everywhere? Then again,
- 1:22:32Speaker 4: they get to the whole point earlier of saying how
- 1:22:34Speaker 4: susceptible this area in particular is.
- 1:22:37Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:22:38Speaker 4: You know, because in Hollywood, everything is kind of like,
- 1:22:40Speaker 4: what's the new trend? Everything's trendy and it's all this
- 1:22:43Speaker 4: and what's that.
- 1:22:44Speaker 3: And, again, it's a lot more forgiving. As they even say, ah,
- 1:22:46Speaker 3: it's Hollywood. Everybody does that. So, again, you can kind
- 1:22:49Speaker 3: of push that envelope a little further than if you're
- 1:22:52Speaker 3: in the boring Midwest. They'll be like, bullshit, unlock that door.
- 1:22:55Speaker 3: I'm getting out of here, you know. But L.A., maybe
- 1:22:57Speaker 3: they let that stuff slide a little more. So it
- 1:22:59Speaker 3: is one of those that they.
- 1:23:01Speaker 4: I would like to see somebody try to keep me
- 1:23:03Speaker 4: and boyfriend in a house. We will cut a path
- 1:23:07Speaker 4: through those motherfuckers.
- 1:23:09Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:23:09Speaker 3: I don't think it would go quite the same in
- 1:23:11Speaker 3: your personal movie.
- 1:23:12Speaker 4: That movie would have been over in like five minutes.
- 1:23:15Speaker 3: Your personal movie is going to go a little different.
- 1:23:18Speaker 3: But it does make me wonder, though, is it because
- 1:23:22Speaker 3: so many of.
- 1:23:22Speaker 4: Although I might have stayed for the cake. I do
- 1:23:23Speaker 4: like red velvet. Red velvet.
- 1:23:25Speaker 3: They did sucker you in. You can keep that ancient wine,
- 1:23:28Speaker 3: but red velvet cake, I am on board. So but
- 1:23:31Speaker 3: as we got into the end, like to me, one
- 1:23:35Speaker 3: of those that was very like follow that because you
- 1:23:37Speaker 3: get to that guy in the video who I think
- 1:23:39Speaker 3: is the isn't that the whiz from the Seinfeld? I'm
- 1:23:43Speaker 3: pretty sure that guy looks way too much like because
- 1:23:46Speaker 3: I kept waiting for him to like start doing that
- 1:23:48Speaker 3: strutting around.
- 1:23:48Speaker 4: I'm the whiz.
- 1:23:49Speaker 3: Nobody beats me. So because, again, if you're going to
- 1:23:51Speaker 3: recruit somebody to be your cult leader, I'd go with
- 1:23:53Speaker 3: that guy. But as you're watching him, he is very, like,
- 1:23:58Speaker 3: heaven's gate. Like, it very much felt like you're following
- 1:24:00Speaker 3: this one guy, and he's going to tell you to
- 1:24:02Speaker 3: kill all these people, and then you'll descend to heaven,
- 1:24:05Speaker 3: or aliens will come. Whatever the hell bullshit thing is
- 1:24:08Speaker 3: going to come along and save everybody. But I'm like,
- 1:24:10Speaker 3: it's usually because, like, the rapture's coming, or some sort of, like,
- 1:24:13Speaker 3: the world's falling apart scenario. And, like, look around. Literally,
- 1:24:17Speaker 3: right now, the world's falling apart.
- 1:24:20Speaker 4: The world has fallen apart so many goddamn times.
- 1:24:22Speaker 3: I mean, it always has been, but I'm saying in particular,
- 1:24:25Speaker 3: these last few years, these last few months, I'm like,
- 1:24:28Speaker 3: how many hurricanes do we have? How many wildfires are
- 1:24:30Speaker 3: currently going on? How many floods are wiping out half
- 1:24:35Speaker 3: of our.
- 1:24:35Speaker 4: But it's always something.
- 1:24:36Speaker 3: It is, but it does seem like it's hitting really
- 1:24:39Speaker 3: weird and more frequently.
- 1:24:42Speaker 4: I'm not even sure if it's more frequently or just
- 1:24:44Speaker 4: because news is so much more widespread these days.
- 1:24:47Speaker 3: To some extent, that's been true for the last 20,
- 1:24:50Speaker 3: 50 years. But, like, I don't know. I feel like
- 1:24:52Speaker 3: it is more intensified lately with the natural disaster. To me,
- 1:24:57Speaker 3: I mean, because I've said that as we've watched hurricane
- 1:25:00Speaker 3: line up to knock out the next hurricane and keep
- 1:25:02Speaker 3: trying to attack us. I'm just like, number one, I
- 1:25:05Speaker 3: keep referring to it as end of days. So, again,
- 1:25:07Speaker 3: I'm adding to this little fear scenario. Mostly I'm just
- 1:25:11Speaker 3: trying to screw with that guy I work with and
- 1:25:13Speaker 3: telling him the world's ending. But on top of that,
- 1:25:16Speaker 3: I'm like, it also builds this sort of scenario. And
- 1:25:19Speaker 3: the more I thought, I'm like, I don't know what,
- 1:25:21Speaker 3: and again, I'm not picking any specific gods because I
- 1:25:23Speaker 3: don't give a shit, but I'm just like, whatever powers
- 1:25:25Speaker 3: that be, I'm going to go with the angel version,
- 1:25:27Speaker 3: the powers that be that are out there, we have
- 1:25:30Speaker 3: pissed them off and they are sick of humanity. So
- 1:25:33Speaker 3: I'm like, I don't know what's going on in the universe,
- 1:25:36Speaker 3: but they're sick of people and they're trying to take
- 1:25:38Speaker 3: out as many as possible. Earthquakes. I'm just saying. Earthquakes.
- 1:25:43Speaker 3: There's always been earthquakes.
- 1:25:44Speaker 4: There always are.
- 1:25:45Speaker 3: But I'm like, this lined up one after the other. Like,
- 1:25:48Speaker 3: we pissed somebody off. End of days.
- 1:25:50Speaker 4: I'm sure the people of Pompeii would say that they
- 1:25:52Speaker 4: have it much worse than you do. Well, let's ask.
- 1:25:55Speaker 3: Oh, no way.
- 1:25:57Speaker 4: They're all fucking dead. So, neener, neener.
- 1:26:01Speaker 3: They didn't build their structures very soundly. And they picked
- 1:26:04Speaker 3: a bad spot to put it in. They should put
- 1:26:06Speaker 3: it somewhere safe, like the Hollywood Hills. Nothing's ever going
- 1:26:09Speaker 3: to happen to that part.
- 1:26:11Speaker 4: Oh, no way. Meeting by coyotes.
- 1:26:14Speaker 3: That's true, too. Coyotes are running all over the Hollywood.
- 1:26:18Speaker 4: Oh, shit. Fake Tom Hardy was hot. I don't even
- 1:26:21Speaker 4: like beards. And good Lord. I wonder if he's ripped
- 1:26:24Speaker 4: like Jesus. He might be. I can't believe you talked
- 1:26:28Speaker 4: to that guy and did not ask him if he
- 1:26:29Speaker 4: was ripped like Jesus. What the fuck is wrong with you?
- 1:26:31Speaker 3: Who, Jesus?
- 1:26:32Speaker 4: Yes. I mean. No, that guy. What's his name? Greg Bernard.
- 1:26:37Speaker 3: Oh, that guy. I thought you meant Ted Neely. I've
- 1:26:40Speaker 3: talked to both of them. I know, and you didn't...
- 1:26:43Speaker 3: Rip like Jesus and Jesus.
- 1:26:44Speaker 4: And you didn't ask either one of them if they
- 1:26:46Speaker 4: were ripped like Jesus. You have let me down more
- 1:26:49Speaker 4: than normal.
- 1:26:52Speaker 3: I'm sure Ted hugged me at some point, so I
- 1:26:55Speaker 3: might have felt his hot abs up against me. Is
- 1:26:59Speaker 3: that appropriate when you're talking about Jesus?
- 1:27:01Speaker 4: Anyway... I'm sure I've said way more inappropriate things. Not
- 1:27:04Speaker 4: even just today.
- 1:27:05Speaker 3: No, really, though. Ted's a touchy-feely, huggy kind of a guy. Like,
- 1:27:10Speaker 3: I watched him just hug a line full of people
- 1:27:12Speaker 3: for hours.
- 1:27:12Speaker 4: Oh, germs, dude.
- 1:27:14Speaker 3: Yeah, and he didn't really, yeah. It wasn't like your
- 1:27:16Speaker 3: normal handshaking scenario where he was purelling every second they
- 1:27:19Speaker 3: turned their back.
- 1:27:20Speaker 4: We did see Kel.
- 1:27:22Speaker 3: Yeah, Kel did immediately.
- 1:27:23Speaker 4: Well, he had his huge two liter of orange drink.
- 1:27:26Speaker 3: He didn't just do like a single serving orange drink.
- 1:27:29Speaker 3: It was a big-ass bottle of orange drink.
- 1:27:32Speaker 4: It was literally the two-liter.
- 1:27:34Speaker 3: I'm like, you're just playing into it, dude.
- 1:27:36Speaker 2: Come on now.
- 1:27:36Speaker 4: But he tore the label off, but there wasn't a
- 1:27:38Speaker 4: product placement.
- 1:27:38Speaker 3: Yeah, he wasn't pitching. He wasn't doing it for cash.
- 1:27:40Speaker 4: It could have been crush. It could have been fucking Faygo.
- 1:27:42Speaker 4: I don't know. We don't know. Is that what it is, Faygo?
- 1:27:45Speaker 4: I don't like Faygo.
- 1:27:45Speaker 3: There is some Faygo.
- 1:27:46Speaker 4: Faygo's disgusting.
- 1:27:47Speaker 8: Fanta.
- 1:27:48Speaker 4: I think there's some Fanta. Might have been some Fanta. Crush,
- 1:27:50Speaker 4: like I said. Some Sunkist. Is that still a thing? Yeah.
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:27:55Speaker 3: I'm okay with it. If I'm going to orange drink it,
- 1:27:56Speaker 3: I'm okay with the sun kissed. You know, that's how
- 1:27:58Speaker 3: it goes.
- 1:27:59Speaker 4: Yep. Rock on, Kel. Your orange drink.
- 1:28:04Speaker 3: So anyway, Kel aside, end of days.
- 1:28:08Speaker 4: No, no.
- 1:28:08Speaker 3: I think that's the thing. Like it raises all those
- 1:28:11Speaker 3: kinds of questions by the end of it where you're like, oh,
- 1:28:13Speaker 3: this is much bigger than what's going on. Yeah. Cause that,
- 1:28:17Speaker 3: I mean, it really takes you that whole movie. You're
- 1:28:18Speaker 3: so caught up in your little part in this one
- 1:28:21Speaker 3: little house scenario that you're like, it's, Again, most horror movies,
- 1:28:25Speaker 3: you're just worried about getting out of the house. You're
- 1:28:26Speaker 3: just trying to, like, survive the movie and your main
- 1:28:28Speaker 3: character scenario. And then, like, you step out in the
- 1:28:30Speaker 3: backyard and take a breather, and you're like, oh, the
- 1:28:33Speaker 3: world's falling apart. Like, oh, everything around me is in,
- 1:28:37Speaker 3: because I even thought that as, like, the dude came out, like, outside. Like,
- 1:28:40Speaker 3: when you're in the house, he was firing guns wildly anyway.
- 1:28:43Speaker 3: But he was out in the yard and just gunning
- 1:28:44Speaker 3: people down. I'm like, so nobody's going to notice that?
- 1:28:47Speaker 3: And then I realized, oh, no, nobody's going to notice
- 1:28:49Speaker 3: because they're all firing guns around you as well.
- 1:28:52Speaker 4: I was just kind of pissed because they make a
- 1:28:53Speaker 4: big deal about, oh, there's bars on all the windows,
- 1:28:55Speaker 4: the front door's locked. There were some big fucking back
- 1:28:58Speaker 4: glass doors, and I'm like... all right, motherfucker, break a
- 1:29:01Speaker 4: goddamn window. You know, there is shit around you. Grab something,
- 1:29:05Speaker 4: break a window.
- 1:29:06Speaker 3: Well, that was, and that was my point earlier, though,
- 1:29:08Speaker 3: is how many times did he wander outside to get
- 1:29:10Speaker 3: some air into the backyard part? Granted, they locked the
- 1:29:13Speaker 3: front door or then put the key back in or whatever, but.
- 1:29:15Speaker 4: Big glass sliding doors.
- 1:29:17Speaker 3: He was in that backyard like two or three times before,
- 1:29:19Speaker 3: so like right before the red velvet cake, I guess
- 1:29:21Speaker 3: they went around and locked all the doors because then
- 1:29:23Speaker 3: as soon as everything went down, they could not get
- 1:29:26Speaker 3: out anywhere. The doors disappeared, apparently. I guess, yeah, one
- 1:29:29Speaker 3: of them... magically disappeared from when he used.
- 1:29:31Speaker 4: To live there so like large fucking sliding glass doors
- 1:29:36Speaker 4: oh my god there's no bar on that window break
- 1:29:40Speaker 4: it that's you know eventually what I was assuming like
- 1:29:44Speaker 4: so much for being stealthy and quiet when you're killing
- 1:29:47Speaker 4: people Jesus Christ could they have killed that big guy
- 1:29:50Speaker 4: any fucking louder he's up there I'm like dude they
- 1:29:54Speaker 4: know what you're it's like how did Will not show up.
- 1:29:57Speaker 3: Then Oh, I don't know. It all goes crazy at
- 1:30:02Speaker 3: that point.
- 1:30:03Speaker 4: There were shenanigans abound.
- 1:30:05Speaker 3: But I think that's kind of what makes it work
- 1:30:08Speaker 3: all the way through. I think it is so much of,
- 1:30:11Speaker 3: because the finale works. I think if you're just a
- 1:30:13Speaker 3: horror fan by the end, they're killing people right and left,
- 1:30:16Speaker 3: you're going to be okay with it. But it takes
- 1:30:18Speaker 3: a lot of building to get there. And I think
- 1:30:19Speaker 3: in lesser hands, you would have tuned out already.
- 1:30:22Speaker 4: Unless you knew it was coming. I had read some spoilers.
- 1:30:25Speaker 3: I didn't know anything about it. I was like, what
- 1:30:28Speaker 3: if they, you know, in the end, it really is
- 1:30:30Speaker 3: this guy's crazy. And, like, he's just being a dick
- 1:30:32Speaker 3: the whole night. So it is kind of like... points
- 1:30:36Speaker 3: to writing and directing and just the overall tone of
- 1:30:40Speaker 3: this movie.
- 1:30:40Speaker 4: And the way it was shot.
- 1:30:41Speaker 3: Again, it all takes you to this next phase where
- 1:30:45Speaker 3: you're just like, I do want to see what happens.
- 1:30:48Speaker 3: And on top of that, I'm even questioning my own
- 1:30:50Speaker 3: thoughts of what's going on right now. And I think
- 1:30:52Speaker 3: that's the sign of a good movie is when it's
- 1:30:54Speaker 3: doing that.
- 1:30:55Speaker 4: So in all, what do you think of this movie
- 1:30:57Speaker 4: that I made you watch?
- 1:30:59Speaker 3: I really liked it. But again, it's not at all.
- 1:31:02Speaker 3: First off, I didn't know what to expect. And even
- 1:31:04Speaker 3: as I got into it, I'm readjusting what I'm going
- 1:31:08Speaker 3: to expect the next five minutes, the next ten minutes.
- 1:31:10Speaker 3: I really wasn't 100% sure where. I'm assuming at the
- 1:31:14Speaker 3: end of the night we're going to get to some
- 1:31:15Speaker 3: sort of big finale because most of these dinner party
- 1:31:18Speaker 3: from hell movies.
- 1:31:18Speaker 4: Either it's going to come out that he's absolutely bullshit
- 1:31:20Speaker 4: crazy or he's right the whole time.
- 1:31:22Speaker 3: Or everybody's going to end up dead. So we see
- 1:31:24Speaker 3: where we ended.
- 1:31:25Speaker 4: I was surprised there was as many survivors as there was.
- 1:31:29Speaker 3: I was hoping Kira would make it, mostly because she
- 1:31:31Speaker 3: had nothing to do with this. I'm like, you know,
- 1:31:33Speaker 3: if Jesus has to die, well, he started this whole process,
- 1:31:36Speaker 3: you know. He was at least knee deep in it
- 1:31:38Speaker 3: with them. He's the one that led her there. But
- 1:31:40Speaker 3: I was like, it's going to suck if she gets killed.
- 1:31:42Speaker 3: She didn't have anything to do with it.
- 1:31:43Speaker 4: She was a fucking fighter.
- 1:31:44Speaker 3: Yeah. She kept, again, that's why I kind of liked her. Like, yeah,
- 1:31:48Speaker 3: all the way through, I was like, she didn't fall
- 1:31:50Speaker 3: into their game. She wasn't playing.
- 1:31:51Speaker 4: She wasn't a victim.
- 1:31:52Speaker 3: She was playing the social niceties as much as, and again,
- 1:31:55Speaker 3: points to her.
- 1:31:55Speaker 4: It's way more than I could have done.
- 1:31:57Speaker 3: Points to her for even going, you know? Like, not only, like, ex-wife.
- 1:32:00Speaker 3: Some people are cool and can get along like that,
- 1:32:02Speaker 3: but she's a crazy ass ex-wife, even before the crazy starts.
- 1:32:05Speaker 3: You can tell. Where it still seemed like he obviously
- 1:32:07Speaker 3: had some, There's certainly issues, like even if it wasn't
- 1:32:11Speaker 3: real feel, because I don't feel like he cared about
- 1:32:13Speaker 3: her like that anymore. Their lives were still intertwined so
- 1:32:17Speaker 3: much with the kid that like he had so much
- 1:32:20Speaker 3: history there. But I never felt like he still had
- 1:32:22Speaker 3: like feelings, feelings for her. I don't know.
- 1:32:24Speaker 4: There's some kind of scenes where I kind of wondered
- 1:32:25Speaker 4: a little bit.
- 1:32:27Speaker 3: She's too crazy. Like, I think even he was just like, whatever.
- 1:32:30Speaker 3: Cause in the flashback, she didn't come off near as crazy.
- 1:32:33Speaker 3: So I do feel like.
- 1:32:34Speaker 4: In the flashback, one of the flashbacks, she was trying
- 1:32:35Speaker 4: to kill herself. So yeah, I think she kind of
- 1:32:37Speaker 4: came off as crazy.
- 1:32:38Speaker 3: Well, that was after the kid was dead though.
- 1:32:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:32:39Speaker 3: I mean, in the, in the, when the kid was alive,
- 1:32:41Speaker 3: you know, mostly the bathtub scene, she seemed almost like
- 1:32:44Speaker 3: a normal human being. And I'm like, okay, I can
- 1:32:46Speaker 3: kind of see. Cause you almost need that.
- 1:32:48Speaker 4: At the picnic. before the incident.
- 1:32:50Speaker 3: If she was full on crazy, you're just like, well
- 1:32:52Speaker 3: now it's equally as much on this guy for getting
- 1:32:54Speaker 3: with her if she seemed crazy and he went into
- 1:32:57Speaker 3: it anyway. So you kind of needed her to be
- 1:32:59Speaker 3: a little sane in the flashback so that you're like, no,
- 1:33:01Speaker 3: I can kind of see why he would be involved
- 1:33:04Speaker 3: with her. So yeah, I feel like by the end,
- 1:33:08Speaker 3: he didn't have any of the, I didn't really pick
- 1:33:10Speaker 3: up on anything there, but like still points to gear
- 1:33:14Speaker 3: for like coming along, like being knee deep in the
- 1:33:16Speaker 3: middle of that scenario, especially with.
- 1:33:19Speaker 4: The kid, you know, and then taking out.
- 1:33:22Speaker 3: Some, yeah, taking out some dudes.
- 1:33:23Speaker 4: Who's a big dude.
- 1:33:24Speaker 3: He's a big dude. And a hell of an actor.
- 1:33:26Speaker 4: So beat the shit out of him. Did she, yeah,
- 1:33:28Speaker 4: she killed him.
- 1:33:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:33:30Speaker 3: And I couldn't even figure out what it was at first.
- 1:33:31Speaker 3: I'm like, is that a bottle of wine? But she
- 1:33:33Speaker 3: kept hitting him. I'm like, it would have broken by now.
- 1:33:35Speaker 3: That's a sculpture or something. Cause she just nailed it.
- 1:33:38Speaker 4: Multiple times. Four times.
- 1:33:40Speaker 3: Like, she kept coming back being like, no, you're not
- 1:33:43Speaker 3: getting up. I'm taking you out.
- 1:33:45Speaker 4: But I'm like, it should have been a dead giveaway
- 1:33:48Speaker 4: to their location. You know, I guess the Eden found them.
- 1:33:53Speaker 4: But she was already fucking crazy anyways.
- 1:33:55Speaker 3: And who shoots himself in the stomach?
- 1:33:56Speaker 4: That's what boyfriends do.
- 1:33:57Speaker 3: That's a terrible way to kill yourself.
- 1:33:59Speaker 4: He's like, in the stomach?
- 1:34:00Speaker 3: That takes days to bleed out.
- 1:34:02Speaker 4: Not her.
- 1:34:02Speaker 3: Didn't you see Mr.
- 1:34:03Speaker 4: Orange? Yeah. Apparently she didn't watch that movie. She was
- 1:34:06Speaker 4: in Mexico.
- 1:34:07Speaker 3: I guess so.
- 1:34:08Speaker 2: She missed.
- 1:34:09Speaker 3: She didn't go back and do her homework.
- 1:34:10Speaker 4: Or she had a kid at that point.
- 1:34:11Speaker 3: You know, if you're at least going to eat the gun,
- 1:34:13Speaker 3: that's one thing. But if you're just stomach, you're just
- 1:34:16Speaker 3: going to sit there and fester for hours. It sucks.
- 1:34:19Speaker 3: You're going to writhe and scream for a couple hours.
- 1:34:22Speaker 3: You're not really going to take yourself out. But you did.
- 1:34:25Speaker 3: But whatever. I don't know. I ended up really liking it,
- 1:34:29Speaker 3: and I think that's why. I think because the tone
- 1:34:32Speaker 3: is so good and the acting is so good through
- 1:34:35Speaker 3: the first two-thirds slash three-fourths, and then when it does
- 1:34:39Speaker 3: need to dial it up to 11 in the crazy department,
- 1:34:42Speaker 3: it does.
- 1:34:42Speaker 4: It does.
- 1:34:43Speaker 3: And you do get a full-on, you know, anarchy ending,
- 1:34:45Speaker 3: which is kind of what you wanted.
- 1:34:46Speaker 4: Kind of purgy.
- 1:34:47Speaker 3: Yeah, so it kind of.
- 1:34:49Speaker 4: Because when you walk out, it's like, holy shit, everybody's
- 1:34:51Speaker 4: doing this shit. It's kind of like The Purge.
- 1:34:55Speaker 3: It's the first phase. It's the first year The Purge
- 1:34:58Speaker 3: kicked off. It's like, oh, okay, this is a good idea.
- 1:35:01Speaker 3: Let's just do this once a year. Let's have our
- 1:35:02Speaker 3: little kill everybody party.
- 1:35:04Speaker 4: I've never seen any of those movies, so I don't
- 1:35:06Speaker 4: know if I'm comparing.
- 1:35:06Speaker 3: They're entertaining. If that's what you're going in for, they
- 1:35:12Speaker 3: serve their purpose. It is a very interesting premise and
- 1:35:15Speaker 3: a very ridiculous and fun kind of a movie take
- 1:35:19Speaker 3: on it. It could certainly be looked at way more
- 1:35:21Speaker 3: serious than they do, but they decided to go down
- 1:35:23Speaker 3: sort of the more drive-in movie road, which is fine.
- 1:35:27Speaker 3: That's also equally as much fun.
- 1:35:30Speaker 4: Good times, good times. I like this movie.
- 1:35:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I liked it. I'm glad you picked it.
- 1:35:34Speaker 4: I'm glad I picked it too. I'm glad it didn't suck.
- 1:35:39Speaker 3: It was very well put together, and I kind of
- 1:35:40Speaker 3: want to see what this director does next.
- 1:35:42Speaker 4: It seems like one that you should have had probably
- 1:35:43Speaker 4: more of an intelligent crew talk about than just me,
- 1:35:45Speaker 4: where I'm like, yeah, they fucking did stuff.
- 1:35:47Speaker 3: She hit that dude in the head four times.
- 1:35:49Speaker 4: Four fucking times.
- 1:35:51Speaker 3: Nah, I think we've covered it quite well.
- 1:35:54Speaker 4: Because I'm awesome. Fake Tom Hardy. I was going to
- 1:35:59Speaker 4: actually write that down as a note because I usually
- 1:36:01Speaker 4: don't like to take notes in movies.
- 1:36:03Speaker 3: Your note was only fake Tom Hardy.
- 1:36:05Speaker 4: No, I was going to put that guy's name so
- 1:36:06Speaker 4: I would get it right. I was going to put Logan,
- 1:36:09Speaker 4: is it Mitchell? Marshall?
- 1:36:11Speaker 3: Logan Jesus Hardy.
- 1:36:12Speaker 4: Logan Marshall. No. Logan Marshall Green equals fake Tom Hardy.
- 1:36:17Speaker 4: That was totally what I was going to write down
- 1:36:19Speaker 4: on a note and put it in my purse, but
- 1:36:20Speaker 4: I forgot.
- 1:36:21Speaker 3: Just do that now and carry it with you at
- 1:36:23Speaker 3: all times.
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: I should.
- 1:36:23Speaker 4: It's like photos, like side-by-side photos.
- 1:36:27Speaker 3: Which twin has the Tony? But yeah, with that, also
- 1:36:32Speaker 3: a big thank you to Cincinnati Comic Expo for letting
- 1:36:34Speaker 3: us come and be part of the show and hang
- 1:36:37Speaker 3: out and see cool people and get stuff. We got spinners.
- 1:36:40Speaker 4: Hell yeah, we did. And what is their email address
- 1:36:42Speaker 4: for all of those out there in internet land?
- 1:36:44Speaker 3: To find out what they've got going on the next
- 1:36:47Speaker 3: time around, go to CincinnatiComicExpo.com and that will take you
- 1:36:52Speaker 3: right there. So just Google that up. I'm sure it
- 1:36:54Speaker 3: will take you right to it, like it did me,
- 1:36:56Speaker 3: and it led me to the show. So that can
- 1:36:58Speaker 3: be you next time around. Go there and see what
- 1:37:00Speaker 3: they got. Again, they're obviously very popular. We were shocked
- 1:37:04Speaker 3: how many people were there. So get involved. Be there
- 1:37:06Speaker 3: next year. They put together a hell of a show
- 1:37:09Speaker 3: and a ton of vendors. Like, again, surprised how many
- 1:37:12Speaker 3: vendors were there and how many artists were there.
- 1:37:15Speaker 4: Like I said, it was a very– it was, like
- 1:37:17Speaker 4: I said, artists of authors that– Everybody who did arts
- 1:37:21Speaker 4: and crafts, there was just everything. Regular, standard issue toys, comics, everything. Clothes, shirts.
- 1:37:27Speaker 3: Tons of stuff. So, yep, go to CincinnatiComicExpo.com and get
- 1:37:33Speaker 3: involved next year.
- 1:37:34Speaker 4: For all your nerdy needs.
- 1:37:35Speaker 3: I'm sure. If you can't find your nerdy things there,
- 1:37:38Speaker 3: I don't know what to tell you. I mean, they
- 1:37:40Speaker 3: even had sushi. Geek sushi is how I referred to it. Again,
- 1:37:46Speaker 3: if I could get... I'm too impatient for lines. Otherwise,
- 1:37:49Speaker 3: I would have gotten me some geek sushi. And that
- 1:37:51Speaker 3: speed dating.
- 1:37:52Speaker 4: I don't know why you didn't sign up for that shit.
- 1:37:54Speaker 4: You need it. Was it because of the chicks we
- 1:37:57Speaker 4: saw there?
- 1:37:58Speaker 3: I'm way too picky choosy for all that nonsense. And
- 1:38:02Speaker 3: I'm sure they are as well.
- 1:38:03Speaker 4: But it's speedy, so even if you don't click, you're like, oh,
- 1:38:06Speaker 4: next person.
- 1:38:08Speaker 3: It just seems like a lot of trouble.
- 1:38:09Speaker 4: It does. Fuck that mess.
- 1:38:11Speaker 3: Just come to me. Anybody out there, just email me.
- 1:38:15Speaker 3: That's the lazy way to do it, right? Just find
- 1:38:17Speaker 3: me if you want to get involved or whatever.
- 1:38:20Speaker 4: I got Jace. Don't email me because I won't answer.
- 1:38:23Speaker 3: You don't want to anyway. She'll say mean things.
- 1:38:24Speaker 4: I will. All of them will be bad words because
- 1:38:27Speaker 4: I know a lot of bad words and I like
- 1:38:28Speaker 4: to use them.
- 1:38:28Speaker 3: All the bad words.
- 1:38:29Speaker 4: Yeah, I know all of them. Some of them in
- 1:38:30Speaker 4: different languages. It's all good.
- 1:38:33Speaker 3: Otherwise, I think that's about it. So, we shall return
- 1:38:36Speaker 3: next time. Same Geek Feed. Thanks for listening.
- 1:38:38Speaker 4: Bye.
- 1:38:42Speaker 10: Bye.
- 1:38:44Speaker 8: Bye.
